You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:28):

(00:50):
action over for tonight? We can just watch scary movies
on our TV. Yeah, Fox very much. Let's go the Halloween,
the new Halloween trilogy. Now we got the Scream series
is on now.
Speaker 4 (01:00):
No, it's good. Yeah, it's good time of year. Let's
go the next couple of weeks.
Speaker 1 (01:04):
I kind of.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
There it is.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
I get that Halloween is a Michael Myers Halloween type hide. Certainly,
there enough movies, but I think we need a little
more scream at Halloween. It's still dressing up, masks, ghosts,
not knowing something. So I think that because Friday the
thirteenth can be any time because it's about Friday the
thirteenth and a holiday and everything not holiday but that day.
But like, but but scream is about you know, it's yeah,
(01:31):
it's it's Halloween. It's dressing up. It's so I think
we need to see a little bit. I could see
a little bit. I could deal with a little bit
more scream movies around Halloween.
Speaker 4 (01:40):
Scream more Freddy Krueger because he's in every everyday hero.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
Uh well, yeah, he made that sweater work. And then
you know, I don't know that anybody would have gone
with that color sweater unless it's Christmas time where he
made it work.
Speaker 4 (01:51):
Yeah, it worked for him. So yeah, we we certainly
have a wide swap. And certainly when I went to
the theater the last couple of weeks, plenty of movies
getting ready to come out that are quasi horror films,
like you know the were you part of the group,
Did you have your your shirt on to represent for
screen too.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
Uh, smile, I'm sitting in the stands and smiling so
that people like that at the Dodger game, doesn't That's
what I mean.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
They got.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
They got really great seats to two. People couldn't go
to that game because hey, smile to me. Stand by
there behind home playton just smile.
Speaker 4 (02:23):
Well, and now here are the stars of show X
y Z that you haven't watched. So I gotta say
so that happens too.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
I like Smile. I thought Smile was pretty interesting and
it was fun, and I'm excited to see Smile too.
Speaker 4 (02:34):
It's another one where Act three didn't work for me.
But yeah, but that's the horror movie. But that's every
horror horror movie. Yeah, what are we gonna do in
act three? I don't worry about Here's barbarian. Yeah, so
I went and saw the substance. We'll figure it out
with Demi Moore again, Craze, Dennis Quaid, all this stuff,
Margaret Quality.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
Dennis Quator's here.
Speaker 4 (02:55):
It was really good for the first two acts and
then it's like, all right, what do we do from here?
Speaker 1 (02:59):
It's like the Jets geting Devontae Adams, What are you
gonna do next year. We'll figure it out. It's worry
about now, but to figure it out next year, where now.
Speaker 4 (03:06):
You have no choice but to do it all. Now,
your guy's gonna be forty one years old. You already
brought into him. Yeah, you brought it back as jackass
buddy Nathaniel Hackett. Yeah, you brought in his receivers, Randall
Cobb doing a great job as a broadcaster. Now, Alan
Lazard has been his most consistent receiver. I love you,
Garrett Wilson, but you drew number one coverage from Christian
Gonzalez and other top corners early on, which meant Lazard
(03:28):
was that much more, much more invaluable. So yeah, you
had to push all in desperation.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
We'll worry about the rest tomorrow. Let's have tonight.
Speaker 4 (03:38):
Yeah, we've got tonight. Who needs tomorrow?
Speaker 1 (03:42):
So we'll have that. We've got I think about that
scene from that.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
It's making last mane.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
We'll have more than the Davante Adams trade to the
Jets coming up a little bit. But Jerry Jones decided, well,
the Jets trade for the Adams kid and the Brown's
trade for the Cooper kid that I've traded to them
to make some headlines on my own. Jerry Jones does
a weekly appearance on one O five three The Fan
in Dallas. He's done this for a long time, and
(04:10):
earlier in the season when the Cowboys started out slow,
he said, I remember we played the SoundBite on the
show that how much of you will take the responsibility
for what's happened? So far as it's all on me,
it's my team, It's all on me. It's all okay,
So Jerry Jones, all on me, it's my team, my decisions. Yes,
you can blame me for the slow start. Well, when
the hosts at one O five to three The Fan
(04:31):
Dallas Today tried to ask Jerry about the slow start today,
are the Cowboys not really as good as they could
be because you didn't go get anybody in the off season.
Jerry Jones did not like that question, and he let
everybody know why he didn't like that question.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
He shouldn't come.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
That's not that's sounds like Jerry. It's not what he said. No, no,
it's not what he's all right, it's like seven years
ago at this point.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
But he did say it.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
He did say, but he didn't say that today. What
does he talk.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
I am a monkey fan a zoo and look at
him all day long and I laughed. And my dad
was in the wild business and had them five thousand
wild animal.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
Okay, but that was not yes.
Speaker 4 (05:24):
That was to be fair, I did say Jerry Jones
on one O five it was yes, yes.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
But this was Jerry Jones from today being asked about Hey, Jerry,
is it your fault? The team's not many better? The
Mets really sucked.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
It is not your job. Your job is to let
me go over all the reasons that I did something
and I'm sorry that I did it. That's not your job.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
Well, my job is asking.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
The job or I'll get another I'll get somebody else
to ask these questions. Man, Jerry, we're just we're trying
to figure out why the team. I'm not kidding. I'm
not kidding you. You're not going to figure out what
the team is doing right or wrong. If you are
are any five or ten like you, you need to come
to this meeting I'm going to today. There are thirty
(06:12):
two teams here.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
Your genius is, Jerry.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
You don't really think you're gonna sit there with a
microphone and tell me all of the things that I've
done wrong and without going over the rights. Now, listen,
we both know we're talking to a lot of great
fans and a lot of great listeners. And I am
very sorry for what happened out there Sunday. I'm sick
about what happened. One of the stupidest things I've ever
(06:38):
done that anybody has ever analyized, is by the Cowboys.
It was an idiot that did that. So idiot things
can turn into good decisions. Okay, smart things can turn
into bad decisions. The facts are that when you make one,
you don't really know whether it's going to be good
or not at the time. So let's just go ahead.
(06:59):
I'm trying to questions, Man, do you want some do
you want some conversation? This morning? You'll get that.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
I'll have security come over and escort you out like
they did the Sola in New York. You want to
just get your stuff in the box, and you know,
your pictures and all the all the memorabilia that you have,
all the Cowboys stuff, the towels that we gave out
at those games, and you know, I'm sure you have
some Cowboys PEPSI uh, We'll take that. Put it off.
I Bob, have somebody just to escort you out. In fact,
I could, I could send CD over to escort you out.
(07:26):
I'll send CD a dack over to escort you out
of the building. I'll have your jobs in the next
five minutes.
Speaker 4 (07:32):
Now, I would agree that you know, he threatened them
with their jobs. If he threatened to buy the station,
I can buy that station and buy and sell you.
This was more just a you know what, I'm just
take my ball and go home. I'm gonna find other
hosts that will ask me better questions and happier questions.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
How dare you listen? Just so you know, I'll have
your place with a new afternoon drive show. Uh it's
uh congratulations, Uh, Charlie Waters and Dave Campo and Steven
this is this is your new trio here an afternoon drift.
Ask me whatever you want to ask me about the team.
Go ahead, guys, I don't know any of you. I
don't know any of you, and Steven that you look familiar,
(08:12):
But just to go ahead, ask me whatever you want
to ask me about the team.
Speaker 4 (08:15):
When they next reconvene, it'll be Jerry Jones announcing that
he's started a sports talk radio station in Dallas.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
He's gonna start paying them in Cowboy Beatso welcome to
Jerry Jones Radio. It's Jerry Jones Radio Network, where we're
talking about all things Jerry Jones, unless you want to
say it's my fault the Cowboys sting, in which case
then I'll fire you and I'll bring somebody else in.
I will Laughso your ass.
Speaker 4 (08:42):
Lasso your ass. That's twenty after the hour. It went
a hundred bucks. He can also, you know, throw it
to the great country country songs that are on the
charts or artists that will be at at Cowboys at
at and T.
Speaker 2 (08:59):
Right.
Speaker 4 (08:59):
Heyre's Lady Wilson's latest all from DJ Jerry Jones. But look,
he owned it until it became an embarrassment this week. Look,
and that's and that's the thing, right this week, it
just it got ugly. It's one thing to lose, it's
another for a team to be running out their linemen
and doing everything they can to sun you in your
(09:20):
home at your home field.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
Look, there's there's takeaways from this. Yeah, there's the knee
jerk reaction to is he gonna fight. No, he's not
gonna fire anybody off the radio. Okay. The only thing
you would see is, hey, let maybe we're gonna reevaluate
my relationship with the station at the end of the
year and reevaluate if I'm gonna continue to do these interviews.
I could do them someplace else. You know, there's lots
(09:44):
of things I can do here.
Speaker 4 (09:46):
Or these guys will get a note from their boss saying, hey,
he gotched it. He got upset, he lost his head
for a couple of minutes because he's mad, because this year,
he more than any other year, specifically put it on
him my decisions to not go get free agents, my
decision to give DAK and CD money, and.
Speaker 1 (10:03):
He was up for it three weeks ago. Oh everything
is me. Now it's hey, Jerry, your decisions were bad,
and he's mad about it, right, more so than any
It's always been about him, his decisions, but he's always
been able to slough it off and say, well, we
didn't have the right coach, didn't have the right quarterback,
didn't have the right this, the players here, the contracts here.
Speaker 3 (10:20):
But he was.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
Really over the top this year with this is on me.
And I think Cowboys fans would have been okay if
they say, know what this is gonna be a gap year.
We're gonna see how this goes, and then next year
maybe it's a new quarterback, new head coach to it.
Because what we've been doing with this team is not working.
We need kind of a reset year. CD will sign
someplace else, Dak will sign someplace else. We'll go spend money.
(10:43):
People want to come play for the Cowboys. But he
decided at the end to say, Okay, I'm gonna do
this and not spend money. Oh no, no, Dak, here's
your money. CD, here's your money. And Cowboys fans go,
what the hell, it's the same thing.
Speaker 4 (10:54):
He screwed it up.
Speaker 1 (10:55):
He had a bad moment on the radio, so we
got mad. But what I can coming back to in
this story is not the threatening the jobs, because that's
not happening, all the crazy ass stuff. What I love
is Jerry Jones and how indignant he is and how
haughty he is about you. Guys don't know. I know
you guys don't know. I know, Okay, I don't know
(11:15):
what's going on in the locker room every minute, every day.
I don't. I'll be the first guy to tell you that.
If you want to talk about jobs, on ratey. I'll
tell you this. If you think it's difficult to break
down the Dallas Cowboys or to break down success in sports,
I got news for you. Sports is the easiest thing
to break down success and failure. In everything else in
the world, there's opinions, there's different angles on it. What
(11:37):
do you want to talk about how good somebody is
in a movie? I think this person was great, I
think this person sucked. What about this person's a politician,
that's a great candidate, that's an awful candidate. Everything there's opinion. Hey,
I like what's going on with the economy. I hate
what's going on with the economy. I love the Drake,
I hate the great Drake. I am the brute squad.
You are the brute squad. You can have difference of opinions,
and I can give you facts about how, Hey, this
(11:59):
is what's good, this is what isn't and you get
different opinions. Sports is so black and white, man, because
sports is about two columns. There is a win column
and there's a loss column. Don't give me the tie column.
There's a win column. Well, there is a loss column.
And if you have more in the win column, you're successful.
If you have more in the loss column, you are unsuccessful.
(12:19):
If you are an average team and mediocre, guess what,
you're not successful. It's very easy. That's there's many different
reasons and it gets nuanced breaking it down, and that's
why we do what we do for a living. But
for Jerry Jones in here and say you can't really judge, No,
I can judge pretty easy when a team or an
individual is successful and when they're not. If they're playing
(12:40):
well and they're putting up numbers and their team is winning,
they're doing great. If they're not, they're not playing well.
If the team has more wins and losses, they're doing okay.
If they don't, they're doing poorly. It's the sports is
the easiest thing to say this is good, this is bad.
And Jerry Jones, after thirty some years of voting the
Cowboys still thinks I can moved that around a little
(13:01):
bit and he can say, well, relevancy is important, and
talking about the Cowboys is important. Look what I've done
for thirty years. We haven't won a title, but the
Cowboys and the number one team in sports. Look at
how much the team is worth. That's great. Nobody cares
about that. No, you care about that, and everybody in
your immediate orbit cares about that. Look what I did,
(13:21):
the money I did will help the NFL. Nobody care.
Did you win, did you lose? Did you win it?
That's why everything goes on. That's why people love sports,
because we care about winning and losing and everything comes
from that. And you have not been winning, So you
have been failing, and now you're upset about that.
Speaker 4 (13:35):
Come on, man, No, look I appreciate the me and
the other owners of the NFL. We're the smartest people
in the room. Yeah, do that, get chesty. You made
a great decision, doesn't mean all the decisions were great.
In the thirty plus years you've owned the squad, and
the last three years you won twelve games a year.
Those are good seasons by most measures. You're the cowboys.
(13:57):
That's not the way this works. So now you look
to this season, not only you losing, You were getting
embarrassed on your home field repeatedly. Right, that's the other
that that's the bigger part of this. Like it's one
thing to say, all right, you can still get to
twelve wins.
Speaker 1 (14:14):
Maybe maybe not.
Speaker 4 (14:15):
No, your defense is terrible. Oh, and the guy that
you decided you couldn't scrape a couple of nickels together,
who basically begged you to sign him, is now the
number one rusher on what is arguably the best team
in football.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
Couldn't afford him? No, but you had money under the
cat Nah, couldn't afford him? What do you mean? Just
these aren't the droids you're looking for. I'll tell you
it doesn't work. And for all the guy in the
movie works for the Kenobi guy doesn't work for me
to do that, And for all they it looked like
it was going to be different in the eleventh hour,
what did he do? He was back to me the
pay guys. I know he's got to understand there is
(14:50):
an easy way to that. And I'm sorry you're upset
that you stink that your team's no good, but you
want to say it's my team, it's my team. But
then you get questions, Oh, no, no, why are we
with this? Why you can't question me for about that?
Speaker 4 (15:02):
I needed to say, sorry, it's we've finished six weeks
of the season. We're down Micah and DeMarcus, and the
offense clearly had headed struggles today.
Speaker 1 (15:12):
Be rational lost my head. Uh, that was venom Jerry Jones,
who was out there for you. Lost my head there
for a second, but I'm back now exit out about
a Fresca exit swollen down The Jason Smith Show with
Mike Carmon live from the tirec dot Com studios. So
that's the biggest thing to know about the Jerry Jones
meltdown from today. Coming up next, we have another big
(15:32):
trade to break down in the NFL and a crazy
quarterback decision that looks like it's going to happen. That's
next right here, Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio. Hey,

Speaker 1 (16:15):
Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon. Is this from the Alex Tischer playlist? No, no,
all right, I'm just typedn't keep pushing, Okay, Alex.
Speaker 5 (16:28):
This is from the Mets Suck podcast.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
Right stoo. Grimas had a good run.
Speaker 2 (16:35):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (16:35):
Grimas is gonna throw out the first pitch tomorrow and
he's gonna start grimm has had.
Speaker 4 (16:41):
A good run.
Speaker 1 (16:41):
Dot com U.
Speaker 5 (16:42):
If he throws the first pitch out, I will turn
the game off and I will accept being down one.
Speaker 1 (16:47):
He's gonna throw the first pitch, hit Otani in the ribs,
and there's gonna be a boh whoa whoa kind of
a reverse reverse situation from Bull Durham. Grimoson o'tai.
Speaker 4 (16:57):
You are gonna fight where the mascot hits a player
with a bitch.
Speaker 1 (17:02):
And you watch, man, you watch how nimble Grimace is
gonna be tomorrow. Just watch.
Speaker 4 (17:06):
Well, here's the thing we talked about it. There will
be innumerable Grimace I.
Speaker 1 (17:13):
Oh, there be so many Grimaces, so much. And you
will see they had.
Speaker 4 (17:17):
A bunch of guys dressed like Bob Costas with the
pink eye.
Speaker 1 (17:20):
They will show the seat that Grimace has at City Field.
Now the Pilgrimage people make to it like it's Stonehenge.
I'm gonna get my picture with the Grimmas seat.
Speaker 4 (17:27):
Okay, who gets the assignment out of the the Fox
pregame crew. Who gets the assignment to go sit and
do the speech by the Grimace Ken Rosenthal. I think
that's where do we get a uh something with Tom
Rinaldi where there's a no, no, not a story behind
(17:49):
the fan that has this action.
Speaker 5 (17:52):
We're we sure he's never written anything negative about Grimace.
Maybe Grimace won't let him all the padre.
Speaker 1 (18:00):
I'm sorry Grimace has denied your request for an interview.
Speaker 4 (18:03):
I'm so you call him the petty potters. Grimmas will
speak after the game. Two pool reporters, just so, yes
you have, there's no question about it.
Speaker 1 (18:13):
It's a lot more baseball coming up a little bit
and give you our Big Bowl predictions for tomorrow, Game
three of the NLCS. But two big stories in football today. Yes,
we had the DeVante Adams trade. We broke that down
a little bit ago. Jerry Jones getting mad O good
at radio hosts in Dallas. I can't can't tell me
it's my fault. Because I know it's my fault, but
you can't tell me that.
Speaker 3 (18:31):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (18:32):
The Pittsburgh Steelers look like they are on the cusp
of making a change at quarterback for Sunday's game against
the Jets. Mike Tomlin at his press conference today said
that Russell Wilson's going to get some reps with the ones.
He's healthy again, and he is in consideration to start Sunday,
which makes zero sense. And I wonder if Mike Tomlin
(18:56):
is losing his fastball because the biggest thing I can say, Look,
you've heard a lot all day about this story. They're
really gonna change. Yes, despite the fact that Justin Fields
is completing sixty eight percent of his passes. Yes, he's
got ten touchdowns in one interception. Yes, and the Steelers
are four and two. Yes, they're at the top of
the division. Yes, and they're gonna make a quarterback change. Apparently,
So find someone who loves you as much as Mike
(19:17):
Tomlin loves Russell Wilson. I don't understand why this happens.
You don't make a change a quarterback unless you have to.
But the biggest thing to tell you why this is
a stupid idea. I mean, I try to go through reasons,
why do I Maybe they promised him he would start
and they feel bad about going back on their promise.
Maybe Mike Tomlin's being told he's got to give Russell
(19:38):
Wilson a chance. But things change in the NFL. Man,
Justin you went out and got Justin Fields for a reason.
Did you really get him to not play?
Speaker 3 (19:45):
Like?
Speaker 1 (19:45):
Why did you go out to get the guy?
Speaker 2 (19:46):
Then?
Speaker 1 (19:46):
Oh no, no, we want Russ to be the guy.
It makes zero sense And the only argument you need
is that, Okay, can you really tell me Russell Wilson's
gonna go out there Sunday now? Thirty six year old
Russell Wilson coming off an injury, not nearly the guy
with any escapability like he had years past, guy that
Denver Bronco said, here's eighty five million dollars to go away.
(20:08):
Is he really going to give you something that Justin
Fields is not giving you? Because I get Justin Fields
has been good, not great, but he's been good and
they're winning. What the hell is Russell Wilson gonna give
you that Justin Fields is not. He's not gonna run
the ball any better, which has been a huge weapon
for the for the Steelers with him run the foot pull.
He's got five rushing touchdowns already. We know he's one
(20:28):
of the best rushing quarterbacks in the NFL. I expect
Russell Wilson to be able to throw the ball kind
of like what you're getting from Justin Fields. He has
made some really good throws. Has he made every throw?
Speaker 2 (20:38):
No?
Speaker 1 (20:38):
Has he turned the ball over?
Speaker 2 (20:39):
No.
Speaker 1 (20:40):
I don't know what the Steelers think they're gonna get
from Russell Wilson at this point, because it's not twenty thirteen,
it's not twenty sixteen, it's not twenty nineteen. What are
you gonna get from him. You're gonna get diminished quarterback playing.
You're gonna say, oh boy, we should go back to
Justin Fields. I don't know what they think they're gonna get.
Speaker 4 (20:55):
Yeah, the curiosity is, do you think that the margins
in the passing game suddenly get better? Because we could
go back and document this, and we did each game
by game the number of drops, near misses, all of
those things where fields. While he's not a wizard throwing
the ball downfield, we get that he's been efficient and
(21:16):
he's put the ball on his target's hands. You go
back to last week, so week five, there were a
number of plays ball across the middle, straight into the
receiver's gut, gets knocked away like he put it on
him and as he's going to the ground, the ball
gets knocked out. I mean, that should have been a
first down completion. You had a couple of plays to
(21:37):
Pickens who look say what you want about his variance
in terms of effort, the guy is a he's a
talent when he gives it to you.
Speaker 1 (21:48):
And there were a number.
Speaker 4 (21:49):
Of plays in the first quarter of the season that
he's left on the field or it's just been a
click away. If you think that Russell Wilson is going
to complete on the margins there, sure that's fine. You
get an uptick in maybe a little bit of the
downfield production, but he's not gonna scramble. What is it
two hundred thirty two hundred and forty rushing yards already
(22:09):
for justin fields with the five touchdowns, As you said,
that's a game changer, right' that's a completely different look
for the defense. And now you got a guy in
Russell Wilson. Maybe he's got a little bit of mobility,
but certainly not that juice. Certainly not that to compliment,
because look what it did this week where you finally
got nausea Harris on track right, where his part of
(22:30):
the run game has been deficient. You've been without Jalen
Warren who's finally coming back off injury. And if it
was after two weeks, you could do the old well,
no guy loses his job due to injury. Okay, Russell
Wilson was first on the depth chart. Whatever he was
on track or was? What was the line the euphemism
that Tomlin kept using in the preseason, like he had
(22:51):
a phrase that he kept throwing out in terms of
what Russell Wilson's role was. It's ostensibly to say he's
the number one guy. So after two weeks I would
get it.
Speaker 1 (23:01):
He's in pole position. He gets pole positions. That's it.
He gives in the pole position.
Speaker 4 (23:05):
So if you after two weeks, I can understand it. Okay,
he's ready to go. It's been six, you're four and two.
You don't automatically get your job back, at least in
my world at that point, because I've got proof of
concept that you're doing enough to win. Is Arthur Smith
doing enough? Dynamically in the playbook to really get you over. No,
(23:26):
but you also knew coming in you're a Mike Tomlin team.
Except for when you were winging around with Ben Roethlisberger
AB eighty four, Lev Bell and those guys, you've always
been a hey, can we score twenty points? Because if
we score twenty points, we got a shot.
Speaker 1 (23:41):
I really it doesn't make any sense. It's stupid that
they're but for some reason we have to scratch thishitch.
We have to scratch it. Not good luck. Good luck
putting Russell Wilson and his no mobility having in talent
out there against the Jets on Sunday. Good luck. So
it luck is they go.
Speaker 4 (23:59):
In potentially make this move and it might be gamesmanship
and in the end Justin Fields is out there. But
you had to go back and look at some tape
of Russ.
Speaker 1 (24:07):
Yeah, but would your gamesmanship and do this at your
quarterback position with a guy that you want to fill
with confidence.
Speaker 4 (24:13):
That he could be your starter at I mean, and again,
I don't know nothing. I don't know what the conversations
are behind the scenes. There's nothing to make and it's
a matter of whether you can filter or noise or not.
Going back to the conversation we just had about Jerry Jones,
but to the point where you're also looking in the
rear view mirror and realizing that the Bengals have an
opportunity to jump right back into this thing the way
(24:33):
that offense is moving because they stole one this week.
Giants did a hell of a job against them. Guess what,
it wasn't enough. So all of a sudden, you're looking
objects in rear view mirror, you know, like you're in
Jurassic Park in the jeep and the t Rex is
gaining on you before it finally rips apart the vehicle.
That's kind of where we're at, and maybe that's what
Tomlin and company are looking at, going all right, we
(24:55):
got the Ravens with us, but right behind us. If
we don't juice up this offense. And again it's theoretically
choosing up this offense because I'm with you, I don't
think it makes a whole lot of difference, and if
nothing else, it may take away the dynamism that we
have in the playmaking abilities of justin fields.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
So that's what's happening with the Steelers dynamism. Two big
trades today, Davante Adams to the jets'll have more on
that in a few minutes, and Amari Cooper to the Bills. Right,
we talked about the Bills how much I loved this.
It's a great move. It was gutsy because they didn't
have to do it because they're in great position in
(25:34):
the AFC East and they're putting points up and there
everybody else stinks and they're really good. But they went
out and did it, and they said, we have bigger
dreams and we know we tried it with trying to
replace Stefan Diggs with what we have and it's not working.
So I love the guts. From the Brown's point of view,
if I'm a Browns fan, I stop watching the team.
(25:54):
I stop and I say, you know what, I'll come
back next year or when things are different, because this
is such an insult to the fans and insult to
us to have Kevin Stefanski the last two weeks stand
up after the Browns games and say no, Deshaun Watson
stays our quarterback because he gives us the best chance
to win. And the day after he says that for
the second week in a row, Hey we're trading our
(26:15):
best receiver away for a draft pick. So wait a minute,
are we trying to win? Are we not right? What
are we trying to do? You're lying to me by
telling me Deshaun Watson's the best chant when clearly he isn't.
He's not good, he's not suddenly gonna get good. I'm
sorry you're stuck. I'm sorry we're stuck. But we have
to do stuff. We're paying him. We don't have to
play him. There's no rule that says that he doesn't
(26:36):
want to go all in and and and bust is
asked to play. Why are we playing? Yes, there's nothing
we can do. We have another quarterback that throw him
for four thousand yards and thirty touchdowns. We can go
to another guy. We're paying him. We don't have to
play him. But no, no, no, no, he's our best guy.
Oh we'll trade our best receiver away. I mean I
would much rather the Browns and Kevin Stefanski and Jimmy Hassel,
(26:57):
who you know is is the guy behind. Hey, we're
paying him. I gave him all this guaranteed money. He's
got a play. I would rather them just come out
and just say, hey, you know, let's spend this. Hey,
we stink. We're one and five. If we played Jamis Winston,
we're gonna win more games. You want your Der Sanders
next year? Great, We're gonna keep playing Deshaun Watson and
he's gonna stink. And we're gonna have enough in the
draft to get Sanders or another quarterback that we like,
(27:19):
and that's gonna be our guy going forward because we'd
be able to fit him in under the rookie salary cap,
and that's how things are gonna go. I would much
rather the Browns do that than do this ridiculous Oh
we're trying, but we're not, because all they're trying to
do is find some way to save face with the
Deshaun Watson contract, which is the most embarrassing fail that
a team has had in the NFL in the past decade.
(27:40):
And Jimmy Hasselm's embarrassed. He's a bad owner. They gave
all this guaranteed money to a guy coming off a
horrendous situation, and you didn't know how he was gonna be,
and you've seen him now he's been. They've had him
for sixty games, he's played twenty five of them.
Speaker 2 (27:55):
Right.
Speaker 1 (27:55):
I mean, you're not gonna get any more than you're
getting right now. He took the money and he's just
hanging out and and to sit here and try to
spin that message to fans, I would say, you know what,
I got better things to do on Sunday. I'll watch
the national games of the games that matter. I'll follow
my fantasy team. I am I am done. I will
come back to the Browns next season when maybe things
are a little bit different.
Speaker 4 (28:16):
Old rule of thumb. Fans aren't stupid. They they've watched this.
It's long enough, sample size enough to snaps enough of hey,
I'm and quotes. I'm not going to do this. James
Winston is the leader in the in the pregame speeches,
in circles, right every time, it's it's not to Sean Watson.
(28:36):
Your leader is your back from quarterbacks.
Speaker 1 (28:39):
Let's eat some ws.
Speaker 4 (28:41):
So you can't do the Stockholm syndrome thing or hostage
thing with Stefanski of hey, he gives us the best
chance to win and at the same token say we're
giving up on the season by tricking that guy. It's
just in Congress. So now we've got a situation where
whereby you more or less if said while we're taking
winking at me while telling me this guy still is
(29:03):
going to win games for us.
Speaker 1 (29:05):
Yeah, just tell us we're gonna suck. I mean, I
agree with you.
Speaker 4 (29:08):
Just be done with it instead. Now you just did
no man's land. You've hampered the guy and it's like
you already got all those issues at the running back position,
and now you trade away the number one receiver and say, now, hey, look,
Deshaun's gonna be even better because Amari Cooper's not here.
Speaker 3 (29:25):
What the hell.
Speaker 1 (29:25):
Logic is that you've done this to us. I got
better things to do. Sunday. I'll see you. Maybe i'll
see you next year. I'll see I'm about that. I'm done.
That's why I'm done. I'll do other things on Sunday.
I'll be worried more about the Guardians getting back into
the series against the Yankees, and will anything else. Time
now to find out what's trending in the wide world
of sports. Speaking of the Guardians and the Yankees, Kevin
(29:46):
Wytt has the latest with what's trending.
Speaker 6 (29:48):
Yeah, the Yankees now had two games to none in
the American League Championship Series. That's after they take down
the Guardian six ' to Aaron Judge his first home
run of this postseason to help propel the Yankees to
that series advantage, and quite a disadvantage. Eighty percent of
the teams in the LCS since moving to seven games
(30:09):
have won after leading to nothing, so the Cleveland Guardians
certainly finding themselves in a hole as they go back
to Cleveland for Game three, which will take place on Thursday.
And in the NFL, we had several trades go down,
as DeVante Adams the most notable player to get moved
on Tuesday, the Raiders setting him to the Jets to
reunite with Aaron Rodgers, and in return they're getting a
(30:30):
twenty twenty five conditional third round pick that could become
a second rounder based on adams performance.
Speaker 3 (30:36):
The Bill's getting Amari Cooper.
Speaker 4 (30:38):
From the Browns.
Speaker 6 (30:39):
They'll get a third round pick as part of a
pick swap in the deal, so Cleveland gonna get a
twenty twenty five third rounder and a twenty twenty six
to seventh round pick, while Buffalo gets Cooper and a
twenty twenty five sixth rounder, and the Vikings getting Cam
Akers from the Texans. As each team swapping late round
picks in the twenty twenty six draft. Other NFL it
(31:00):
is Mike Tomlin saying Russell Wilson under consideration to start
Sunday Night against the Jets. He's been taking some reps
with the Ones in practice and now Tomlin said it's
also a possibility Wilson and Justin Fields both see action
in Week seven. And a big contract extension going down
this evening is a line signing defensive lineman a Lee
McNeil to a four year, ninety seven million dollar contract
(31:22):
extension with fifty five million of it guaranteed back to
you guys.
Speaker 1 (31:28):
Thank you, Kevin. Coming up next, Yes, we will take
a look ahead at Game three of the NLCS, the
Dodgers and the Mets. Who has more of the must
win tomorrow and the big trade in the NFL today
for one team, they are now too big to fail.
But there's a catch that's next right here. Jason to
(31:48):
Mike this.
Speaker 3 (31:49):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific, Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
The Jason Smith Show with ma My best Friend Mike Harmon,
Live from the tire rack dot Com Studios, Game three
of the NLC. Yes, Tomorrow night, Dodgers All Mets. No,
you're so scared. I know how nervous you were, so scared.
You're more scared than you. He was gonna mow you down.
Twelve case. Oh, I'm sorry? Is it two thou? Is
it twenty nineteen? I'm sorry? We're going back in time
(32:20):
when he was good.
Speaker 5 (32:21):
You just told everybody that you haven't seen a Dodger
game without telling everybody you haven't seen a Dodger game.
Speaker 1 (32:26):
Oh okay, tell me when's the last time he was
last start?
Speaker 2 (32:29):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (32:29):
Oh, okay?
Speaker 2 (32:29):
Okay?
Speaker 1 (32:30):
Which is?
Speaker 2 (32:30):
How was he?
Speaker 1 (32:31):
But all season as good as your last start? Okay? Okay. Look,
tomorrow is is much more of a must win game
for the Mets because, look, the Dodgers strength is their bullpen,
and Dave Roberts de faultered to it. Did he mismanage
it a little bit? Yesterday?
Speaker 2 (32:47):
Was there?
Speaker 1 (32:48):
It seemed like there was a little bit less emphasis
on winning rather than just getting through the game and
seeing if they could steal one. Yeah, but the bottom
line is you want to throw your bullpen out there.
The Mets are saying, we love to see your bullpen.
Just ask Philadelphia and Milwaukee and Atlanta, all teams of
lights out bullpens. How we feel about bullpens over the
last few weeks. Doesn't matter what you have. Bullpen can
(33:09):
be really good done. Philly's had the best bullpen in
the end. I'll guess what E was. Eleven. Yeah, give
us your bullpen. Hey, we saw your bullpen in Game two.
We had six runs in the first two winnings, right,
and we won seven to three, So I don't feel
bad about that.
Speaker 4 (33:22):
We get to the dots yourself. The Mets are saying me,
we we no, no, and I says you were going
full Frenchman there I was.
Speaker 1 (33:29):
I was the the emotional effort that I put in.
I can say we uh really the Mets. You didn't
fight yesterday though the Mets no, no, no.
Speaker 4 (33:38):
I'm still disappointed that we didn't come back with you
coming back with a You know, I had a guy
what I did by whoa that he journed and wanted
to fight me.
Speaker 1 (33:48):
I don't fight when I go to a game. I
don't know what I'm not saying you instigated because I
would go in like, hey, we're gonna face each other
as God intended, like like like under the Giant says
to the man in black, and I don't know the
other has as a gun or a knife or something,
or I don't know who's got. Maybe he's got a
ghost face mask and a sky I don't know done,
or maybe just the power of Dodger Nation. But coming
(34:11):
into tomorrow, the next three starters for the Dodgers Bueller,
Yamamoto and Flaherty. Friday's coming off the game of his life,
Yamamoto pitch really well. The Mets have to have tomorrow
because the Mets need to win two out of three
to keep this a series they can win. And if
they lose tomorrow, are they really gonna beat Yamamoto and
(34:31):
Flaherty back to back. It's hard for me to see.
Harts me. I can't see them losing both, but it
harts for me to see them winning both of those games,
and they have to take two out of three in
order to make make this a series that they could
potentially win. Tomorrow for me is much more of a
must win game for the Mets it is for the Dodgers,
because the Dodgers can say, well, hey, we lose Game three,
all right, we had our worst pitcher going. Now we
(34:53):
have our two guys who really want out there. We'll
worry about Game six and Game seven when it comes,
but now we got our best two guys coming. So whatever,
if we lose game game three, that's fine. We're confident
about game four and game five, much like the Mets
were saying, hey, if Senga stinks and we lose game one,
which happened, we got our race going in game two
and Sean and Iah was great. So it's much more
of a must win game for the Mets. Smart as
(35:14):
the Dodgers.
Speaker 4 (35:15):
Over unders seven and a half runs the win probabilities
as run through Mets fifty two. But yes, it's all
a question of can Bueler give you five strong because
you have the bullpen arms, your better bullpen arms, and look,
it's been all hands on deck for what three months?
Justin what are we talking three four months? In terms
(35:36):
of Dodger bullpen. You've got all of those guys resting, right,
because yesterday, yes it was a bullpen game. It was
a lot of the the secondary guys that got their
calls still have a lot of questions as to what
happened in that second inning that you don't pull the
plug on that experiment early.
Speaker 1 (35:53):
I know, it's more like Dave Roberts felt like, this
is how we have to do it today. Let's see
if we can steal one. And I'm like, sure, Oh,
you can go up to nothing and basically end the NLCS.
You're not going to bring in your high leverage that's one, nothing.
Speaker 4 (36:06):
But high leverage guys, or starting Mueller all of those
things like ask to answered Jerry Jones is gonna get
on the phone and yell at us and tell us
you don't know, you're not going to the owner meeting,
get jerks, get out of here. You're not a genius
like me. Uh, But for tomorrow, that's it. The key
(36:26):
factor Mueller in the first I don't know, first two innings.
Speaker 3 (36:32):
Can he can he get through the.
Speaker 4 (36:33):
First five to seven hitters, six six k's right off
the jump. I kind of dig that he goes down
to the history books. But if he can get through
that first part of the batting order in order or
you know, without any damage, feel much better about the
Dodgers chances because if you got to go to the
(36:53):
bullpen early, it's gonna get real squarely because even on
their best days, your starters are only going five, maybe six,
already going seven the other day. Come on, that's the
outlier of the season for hell, most starters in Major
League Baseball, but certainly for the Dodgers.
Speaker 1 (37:09):
So there's Game three of the NLCS tomorrow. Meanwhile, today,
the big story, obviously the Jets trade for Davonte Adams.
I told you last night it was gonna happen by Wednesday.
Be stunned if it didn't. It happened. I can be
an NFL insider. Uh, for all the worry I have,
I really now that I'm now, the Jets are okay.
I was ready that the Jets were gonna be done,
(37:30):
they were gonna suck. Now they pull me back in
h I have no doubt adding Davonte Adams, the Jets
are gonna be terrific and by the middle of the season,
they're gonna be all sorts of problems.
Speaker 4 (37:41):
Davanta Adams is solving all of those problems.
Speaker 1 (37:43):
Davante Adams is top five receiver in the NFL. The
Jets are gonna be too big to fail by the
middle of the season. Week ten, week eleven, They're gonna
be really, really good, but they can't wait till then.
It has to happen now it can't be. Hey, in
a couple of weeks we get our no and a
couple of weeks season will be over. You're already two
and four. How many games can you really afford to lose?
(38:04):
And you think you can make the playoffs? You have
to go ten and seven, right, ten and seven's about
what you need to do to get in the playoffs.
And ten and seven means you gotta go eight and
three the rest of the way. So if suddenly by
the middle of the seat, hey you're two and two
the next couple of weeks, Hey, guys, what you're really
gonna go seven to one and make the playoffs? You
need it now. The Jets are gonna be good, but
they need it now. Garrett Wilson tweeted out, hey, now
(38:25):
we gotta go. We gotta go now. He's got a
great finger on the pulse of what goes on with
the Jets. He always has been someone that when he speaks,
I get it he's talking about the locker room. He's
been a great spokesman for the Jets the last few years.
He's young, he gets it, but it's gotta be now,
because if it's not now, it's not gonna matter. It'll
be great. Look at the Jets and the story will
just be Boy, the Jets only gotten their act together
earlier in the season, had they fired Sola in the
(38:47):
off season, had they traded for Adams earlier, all this
b that's gonna be the story. Love, But would they
be great now? They're gonna finish seven and ten, But boy,
once again, they'll be seven and ten. But it's gotta
happen now. It's gotta start with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday,
and they got to go three and one. They got
to get back to five hundred as soon as possible,
and then they have a chance because they'll be really good.
(39:08):
But it's gotta be now.
Speaker 4 (39:09):
That game is absolutely fascinating, especially with the wrinkle of
these Steelers quarterbacks. What a day of news. We have
nuanced discussions of all of this stuff. Find the podcast
as it goes up. Justin I'll have that up in
a few minutes. Uh search, all of that is gone.
It's all lies. But he just said that, you know what,
(39:32):
it's too big to fail. But he's already predicting all
the articles that are going to be written, like he's
seen the.
Speaker 5 (39:37):
Future, lies Jets are going to be fantastic.
Speaker 1 (39:41):
Is absolutely alive.
Speaker 4 (39:42):
Yeah, But in the same breath, he then talked about
all the articles that will be written in talks that
we'll have to have as we bring him down, and
he transis, did I tell you?
Speaker 1 (39:52):
Did I tell you we'd have Davante Adams? It happened.
You are an NFL center. I am from the future.
The of the Jets stinks. Exit out, Valda Fresca, exit
swollen down. The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmen live
from the tire rack dot Com Studios. Coming up next
my buddy Ben mallor you're listening to Fox Sports Radios
(40:17):

Speaker 2 (40:20):
