You know who doesn't celebrate Thursday? Who's that?
Speaker 3 (00:55):
Syracuse Football. I gotta tell you guys something.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
I gotta tell you guys something because this is something
I I've had to hold on to this until now,
but uh no, no, no, this is a serious tight
should've had.
Speaker 3 (01:05):
I've had to hold on to this until now.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
I've actually known about a lot of goings on in sports,
how things were going to unfold. Because now that it's over,
I could say, because they told me, I could say
it was midsummer, not midsummer, mid the summer.
Speaker 4 (01:26):
S O M M A R.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
I was dancing with Florence Pugh and she won with
THEE and they stuck my leg in the ground like
cheaty well, fertilizer, fertilizer.
Speaker 4 (01:38):
I Uh, it's tough to admit.
Speaker 3 (01:43):
I made it.
Speaker 4 (01:44):
What No, I I made a deal with the devil.
I did.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
The devil showed up just like Johnny showed up with
that fiddle made of gold, and he said, okay, hey, Jason,
I'm gonna give you an incredib the bull Mets run
this year out of nowhere. Now I can't have them
win at all because I had to be a little
bit too crazy, but I'm going to give you an
incredible run into the NLCS.
Speaker 5 (02:09):
Okay, Well, it doesn't get that specific in the deal
with the Devil.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
Well, no it does.
Speaker 4 (02:13):
I had to.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
I said how far can I go?
Speaker 4 (02:14):
Just so I know?
Speaker 3 (02:15):
And said I get you running the NLCS.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
I said, all right, and along the way, it's not
just gonna be some generic run where you win every game,
like six to one. I'm going to give you every
week or so, I'm going to give you the biggest
home run in Mets history. Like oh, okay, okay, so
what what what?
Speaker 4 (02:32):
What do I get rid?
Speaker 1 (02:33):
All right, well, that's great, I'll take it, okay, And
this is for my years of of suckitude for my teams, and.
Speaker 4 (02:38):
This is good God I've suffered. Oh no, no, no.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
Devil said no, no, no, I don't it's not it's
not accounts best. Uh No, I'm gonna take it out
of you in trade and in pounds of flesh. And
I said, what, well, I'm taking it out of you
with the Jets, I said, okay, and the Knicks, and
we're going to start early, all right. I'm not gonna
mess around in this ad. No, and I'm gonna start
(03:02):
early with you. I said, okay. Oh in Syracuse football, Wait,
a lot happens. Wait, you get your first big game
on television and your quarterback throws three pick sixes in
the first half. And I said, okay, okay, so that's
the Jets and Syrica, all right, fine, and he's oh no, no,
I'm not done. What do you mean, you're not done? No, no, No,
the Yankees are gonna go to the World Series. Oh wow,
(03:25):
well that kind of sucks. Yeah, but that's part of
the deal. I said, all right, and Sam Darnald is
gonna be really good. Is there anything else? No, that's
the deal. So I got the Mets run, and now
I gonna deal with all this. I deal with Sam
Darnald being great. I gotta deal with Syracuse tonight and
Pittsburgh with eighty three yards of offense and they're winning
(03:47):
thirty one nothing. I gotta deal with the Knicks giving
up thirty threes in the first game of the year
to the Celtics. I gotta deal with the Jets just
sucking despite the fact to keep getting all NFL players.
Speaker 4 (03:57):
No, I can do it. And I gotta worry about
the Yankees in the World Series. And I got that.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
I got all this stuff. The devil said to me,
this is the deal. I said, but I don't know
if I want the deal. They said, but this is
the deal. I said, but I don't want the deal.
I don't want to be in the you're in the will.
I don't want to be in the will. He just
got another one. This is what happens. The devil come.
The devil will never let you go. He's gonna he's
gonna come. Do He's gonna come. He's never gonna say, ah,
you know what, I could get to that guy another time.
(04:23):
You're never gonna say, Oh, I can maybe escape from
the devil. I maybe he'll forget about me.
Speaker 4 (04:27):
No, no, no, no, no, no no.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
Kyle McCorry just throws his fifth interception of the game,
this one on a tipball, and is leading Syracuse now
thirty one six. If you play college football fantasy and
you stream the pit defense, yeah, I'm pretty sure you're
gonna win this week. Three pick six is in the
first half. Oh and he got eighteen plus six. You
got twenty four plus. I mean they lost the shutout though,
(04:51):
by the way, that drive, I mean eighteen plays seventy
three yards, taking up almost ten minutes off the clock.
Speaker 4 (04:58):
That's something you.
Speaker 6 (04:59):
Could have use.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
He was in the first quarter, yet thirty one nothing
using ten minutes of the clock. It's a great devil.
Deal with the dog. Well, what can I do? This
was the devil.
Speaker 5 (05:09):
But that's the point is that you you make the
deal with the devil, and you.
Speaker 4 (05:14):
Always come up short because he doesn't give you the
end game. No right.
Speaker 5 (05:18):
Historically, in all works of fiction, we referenced the Daniel Daniel.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
Was great, three biggest home runs in Mets history.
Speaker 4 (05:26):
Yeah, but it all happened in a week. It was
all condensed to me. It's all sped up.
Speaker 3 (05:30):
I'm good.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
Now you're you're getting pludgeoned. James Coco went nuts in
five minutes. I mean, this is just an absolutely accurate
James Coco.
Speaker 5 (05:39):
Really, it was a Simpsons episode where Homer goes to Hell.
They put him on the conveyor bay olt where it's like,
all right for a churney, he's gonna eat donuts, and
they actually run out of donuts and the devil yells.
James Coco went nuts in five minutes. Hey, here's your
Simpsons reference for the morning.
Speaker 4 (05:56):
For the evening. I should say tonight.
Speaker 3 (05:59):
It's nice time, long day, I know, but it's nighttime.
It's still nighttime.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
It's daytime in Macau. So it's been a long morning.
If you think it's the morning and it's seven o'clock
at night, now it's been a long morning.
Speaker 4 (06:14):
How many did you throw them? Three?
Speaker 1 (06:16):
Pick sixes, three pick sixes, five interceptions, three picks.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
No, we're not allowed to.
Speaker 1 (06:21):
I thought we're not allowed to play pick sixes until
football games are get three.
Speaker 4 (06:25):
It's like, well, it's like a jack.
Speaker 7 (06:27):
No.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
No, no, the rule is you can't play pick sixes
on a Thursday night.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
No.
Speaker 4 (06:32):
No, three triggers the bones.
Speaker 5 (06:34):
The only dopey rule like that is Major League Baseball
because they don't want you to, you know, follow the excitement.
Speaker 4 (06:40):
Of three triggers the bonus.
Speaker 5 (06:42):
That's when you know we start bringing in like the
little wood blocks and stuff to recreate the crack in
the back.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
No, I think you have to look that up, Frostberg.
I think you can get fired. Actually if you, if
you if you play more than one pick six in
a night on the radio, I think that well, it
violates three of them.
Speaker 5 (07:00):
Kind of like saying beetlejuice three times. You know what,
I'll take the risk of get Nod.
Speaker 8 (07:05):
Motions out of the backfield. The cord looks, it's intercepted. Touchdown,
the cord intercepted. Coyle Lewis Lollis touchdown. It's just been
(07:27):
that kind of night, brand of love place.
Speaker 4 (07:30):
He's a weapon. On the third one.
Speaker 5 (07:32):
He didn't even have the energy to say intercepted because
the first jo I'm like, wow, look at him.
Speaker 4 (07:37):
Keep the energy. It's an interception somehow. Whatever they got it,
I believe it. Running back.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
I mean I don't look offensive efficiency five to fifteen
on third downs.
Speaker 5 (07:50):
I mean, pit's only one of six. Uh you look
at total yards twenty five to one. Secondary, I mean
they got they had eighty You got four times the penalties.
Speaker 1 (08:02):
It was thirty one nothing and they had eighty yards
of offense.
Speaker 5 (08:05):
Come on and put up the halftime graphic. I didn't
have the audio up, but all I could do was laughs, like, oh,
how about that eighty three yards?
Speaker 4 (08:13):
Sure, I like winning the Heisman Trophy after the night.
Speaker 5 (08:15):
No, no, all those tickets are burning. It's like everybody
that had tickets on Brownie James's score point in his debut.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
I mean, meanwhile, okay, so enough of Syracuse because clearly, yeah.
Speaker 4 (08:27):
I mean, they got five minutes too much.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
Oh man, Uh, Thursday Night football. We told you this
is the biggest Thursday night game of the year because
this is this is a night where the rubber hits
the road for the Rams. It is high noon. If
the Rams win tonight watch they will continue with what
they had. They'll keep Cooper Cup, they will keep all
their players three and four in NFC West.
Speaker 3 (08:50):
That is not great.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
That could see the forty nine ers lose again on
Sunday the Cardinals. Of the Cardinals, that Seahawks are just okay.
The Rams will state it, but lose the fall to
two and five, and suddenly you're going to see Cooper Cup.
We saw risol rumors about Matthew Stafford. You are going
to see the Rams try to reload on the fly
for next year. And so far we are getting And
(09:12):
I told you I picked the Rams last night because
they are the more desperate team in this game. Yes,
the Vikings are coming off of bye, but the Rams
are more desperate. And so far they are playing terrific.
And it's a seventeen to fourteen Vikings lead. It's been
a lot of offense in this game. They just kicked
the field goal to go up by three, six and
a half to go in the third quarter.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
Rams are getting the football back.
Speaker 5 (09:32):
But you got the surprise appearance from Pookin de Kua,
so that added the added value for you. There six
catches eighty seven yards. Thus far in his eight targets.
You did have Stafford miss Cooper Cup in the end
zone early in this one, but off the jump, it
was who was going to flinch first? Because it was
fourteen fourteen and we think we're off to the races
(09:53):
now midway through the third seventeen fourteen Vikings.
Speaker 1 (09:57):
And look, let's be honest here talking about Sam Donald,
because obviously Sam Donald is playing well tonight against the Rams.
And there two things I will say, because I give
Sam Donald a lot of credit. One thing is it
is a little bit easy because you could see how
much he defaults to Justin Jefferson. Where is Justin Jeffers.
I'm just gonna throw the ball to him, Okay, you're
gonna be successful.
Speaker 5 (10:16):
Well, if I have a number one wide receiver, why
the hell would I not throw it twenty times?
Speaker 2 (10:21):
Again?
Speaker 4 (10:21):
It could be the.
Speaker 1 (10:22):
Quarterback and say, where are you throwing this ball? I'm
wherever Justin Geoff he's the best wide receiver in But
you can't fault him to the fact that they've got
an eight. Listen, but if he was throwing to somebody else,
he'd be an idiot.
Speaker 8 (10:32):
No.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
But look, but what I'm saying is that it does
help when you have the best wide receiver in the
game who is usually open, so you don't have to
worry about getting down to your secondary and tertiary reads,
which has always been Sam Donald's problem when he looks downfield.
Speaker 3 (10:46):
He doesn't know what he sees. When he looks downfield and.
Speaker 1 (10:49):
Sees his number one option open, Hey, I can succeed
because that's exactly what Donald is doing.
Speaker 4 (10:53):
I'm looking downfield.
Speaker 1 (10:54):
I have tunnel vision for Justin Jefferson, and no matter
what kind of coverage the defense rolls to him, he's
still able to get the ball there and fifteen yards.
I mean really, that that's I mean that that's just
that's how good Justin Jefferson is. But the bigger point
is this is that you don't need a bigger example
of what coaching means in the NFL more than this,
(11:16):
because last year, you know, we watched Kirk Cousins the
last few years played great in Minnesota. You watched Kevin
O'Connell come in, who knew what kind of coach he
was going to be. He was part of the next
generation of young coaches who are going to help light the.
Speaker 3 (11:28):
World on fire.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
And at what what did Jay Glazer tell us a
couple of weeks ago the mount Rushmore or young coach
in the NFL is O'Connell and Stefanski and.
Speaker 4 (11:36):
McVeigh is on there.
Speaker 1 (11:37):
And what you have seen now is here's O'Connell who
has turned a guy who has been a career backup,
who didn't work with three teams. You can make fun
of the Jets and go, oh, it's a Jets, but
he didn't work with the Jets. He didn't work with
the Panthers. He was a backup at best with the forty.
Speaker 4 (11:52):
Nine ers, and he wasn't really getting a shot there.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
But now, but now you look at where he is
now at the Vikings and suddenly, whoa, He's having the
best year of his career. And and and were any
of the coaches that he had up until this time?
Were they any of them?
Speaker 4 (12:08):
Good? Of course not.
Speaker 1 (12:09):
Adam Gase isn't even in the league. I told you
he's never gonna coach again. It with such a disaster,
right and.
Speaker 3 (12:17):
His other head coach went back to college.
Speaker 4 (12:20):
I can't do it anymore.
Speaker 1 (12:21):
I'm gonna go get my ass kicked in college now,
because at least at least that's I'm not on the
front page of the paper getting my ass kicked in
the NFL and and never got a chance in San Francisco.
He was only a placeholder there, and here he only
gets the chance because JJ McCarthy gets hurt in the preseason.
But you see the coaching that Kevin O'Connell does. He
helped keep the Vikings afloat last year when they had
(12:42):
to go to Josh Dobbs. Josh Dobbs came in and
played some good football for the Vikings. Now, eventually they
figured it out and and and the Vikings faulted and
Josh Dobbs lost his gig a bit. But you could
see whoever went out there quarterback, the Vikings were still
putting points up. And Jefferson got hurt and that that
that that kind of hurts something. They were still able
to go out there and and and compete. And I
(13:02):
look at O'Connell like I look at Kevin. Stefansk can
go man no matter who he had out there when
they were trying. Uh, he's able to win with Cleveland.
Now they're tanking, well, I mean Stefansky is still trying.
His owner isn't And the same thing you can say
for Kevin O'Connell is that he's one of those guys
where no matter who has played quarterback for him, they
have succeeded. And this doesn't mean suddenly Sam Donald is terrific,
(13:25):
but hey, they figured out how to make him work
in this offense and he is playing really really was
having a big night tonight. But again, those two that
when you have Justin Jefferson helps, But this is the
biggest example you need. Hey, what kind of difference does
coaching mean?
Speaker 3 (13:39):
In the NFL?
Speaker 1 (13:40):
Is really about game plans? About this sometimes it's about
how do I get a very important player being the
best version of himself they can be? And that's what
he has done with Sam Donald.
Speaker 5 (13:50):
So which is why you know, I will never know
what mac Jones might have been if he didn't put
a defensive coordinators as his OC.
Speaker 4 (13:58):
I mean, look at me.
Speaker 5 (14:00):
History is littered with quarterbacks that never got to a
situation where we truly found out what they were. Right,
he gets six games with a bad coach. Sorry, that's it,
you get cycled out. I mean, we've seen it time
and time again with Donald. Fortunately, because he was so young,
there's still that wishing wanting hoping. Remember we evaluated that guy.
(14:20):
We really liked him, all right. We got him away
from the Jets and Gino Smith. And his success has
helped as well, because I think he's helped some quarterbacks
maybe get a second or a third look because of
his success later on in his career. I'll tell you, really, Hey,
what is coaching meaning that?
Speaker 3 (14:38):
Just watch Sam Darnold boyt. This is what coaching means.
Speaker 1 (14:41):

Mike and I will do it. We are on the
eve of Game one of the World Series. We'll tell
you how it's gonna go. Who's gonna win, how many games,
Why the team's going to win, is gonna win, who
the MVP is gonna be? Cleveland is not in the world.
(15:14):
They were close. They were in the ALCS T shirt.
Oh did you know, no, no, they were. They were
very close.
Speaker 4 (15:21):
I thought you were too.
Speaker 1 (15:22):
They were wearing their guardian. We were a little bit
closer than the guardians. We were a little bit close,
even closer.
Speaker 3 (15:28):
You were, just like Syracuse were close than the game Star.
Syracuse is not close.
Speaker 1 (15:32):
Whether they were five and one not for five and
one from other forty five minutes, then that's gonna be done.
Speaker 3 (15:38):
H So coming up next, who's walking away?
Speaker 1 (15:41):
What deserving owner is walking away with the World Series trophy?
Speaker 4 (15:44):
That's next. Fox.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith

Speaker 1 (15:58):
Fox Sports Radio Jason Smith Show is My Best Friend.
Mike Harmon tribute live from the Tirack dot Com Studios.
Speaker 4 (16:08):
Rams run.
Speaker 3 (16:09):
How can I talk about sports when you're playing this?
Speaker 5 (16:11):
Come on, man, Hi the shiny demon in the middle
of the road and he said, it's another pick six
the courtney.
Speaker 1 (16:26):
Or I'll eat your soul. My deal with the devil.
I'll give you that mets of the NLCS. But boy,
Syracuse and the Knicks and the Jets are gonna suck.
The Yankees are going to the World Series and Sam
Darnold's gonna be great. That sounds excessive. No, no, no, no, no, Jason,
that's the deal. But maybe I don't want the deal.
That's the deal.
Speaker 3 (16:47):
Take it.
Speaker 1 (16:48):
But but that's too much. No, it's like a bad
fantasy trade, yegg, But you're gonna make it. Headed to
the fourth quarter right now in La Matthew Stafford has
just thrown his touchdown of the night boom. The Rams
now lead the Vikings twenty one to seventeen. The return
of Pooka Nakua seven catches for one hundred and six yards,
(17:08):
the return of Cooper Cup three catches for fifteen yards
and a touchdown. Flipper Anderson has a touchdown tonight. Isaac
Bruce has a touchdown tonight. It is a pretty big deal.
Oz Hakeem has a touchdown to US teams. It's been
a big night for the Rams.
Speaker 4 (17:23):
Man. Why you got oz zero keem in done?
Speaker 1 (17:26):
It's really something. So again, headed to the fourth quarter,
it is a twenty one to seventeen lead Rams over
the Vikings. I will keep you posting on here. And
that did the less being said about the college football
game on ESPN right now, the better now, Game one
of the World Series, set to begin tomorrow night in
Los Angeles. And again, you've heard all the pageantry about
(17:49):
this over the course. Yes, it's the World Series, tighten,
it always counts, it does it?
Speaker 3 (17:55):
The world serious counts. Dodgers win.
Speaker 1 (17:57):
Yeah, uh, some deserving owner will walk away with a
big hunk of metal and be the World Series champion. Now,
first things, for a four am, I sell it before
I give you my pick on the what's gonna wind
up being the highest rated World Series game in baseball history.
People who've never watched a baseball game will watch at
least a little bit of this world.
Speaker 4 (18:17):
So do they get to include the numbers from Japan?
Speaker 3 (18:20):
Of course they will. Yeah. Well, it's just like Hollywood.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
Whatever a movie sort of disappoints domestically, they go, hey,
weekend one for Smile too, globally.
Speaker 4 (18:32):
Million dollars. Look, it all counts the same.
Speaker 5 (18:34):
I'm not I'm not saying that it's definitely the case.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
But I gotta say this all right, because I gotta
be real, right, abro I told you about the meeting
with the devil, my deal with him, I got, I
gotta say this.
Speaker 3 (18:46):
I can't have the Yankees win.
Speaker 4 (18:48):
I can't.
Speaker 3 (18:49):
I mean, I know, I.
Speaker 4 (18:49):
Love my dad.
Speaker 1 (18:51):
He went to Game two of the NLCS with me
and it was a great day, rooting for me everything.
I'm sorry, but I can't have the Yankees win.
Speaker 3 (18:59):
I can't.
Speaker 1 (19:00):
I can't have him walking over to the house every day,
walking in like he's my landlord and he owns it.
Speaker 4 (19:05):
Ey, see what I got today. I got this new
Yankee World Series.
Speaker 3 (19:08):
I got this, I got this, I got this. I
can't have it, man, I can't do it.
Speaker 5 (19:11):
Well, they put enough stuff at Tremont, like little patches
and stuff.
Speaker 4 (19:15):
It might be better, kindling. I can't sit here.
Speaker 1 (19:18):
I can't sit here and look at well, what a
great year the Mets had, and how great a run
there on the No still the number two team. Hey,
look at the great year you had we won the
World Series.
Speaker 4 (19:27):
Can't have it.
Speaker 1 (19:28):
I can't have the Yankees win. I can't, Okay, absolutely
cannot have it.
Speaker 5 (19:31):
All Right, So fifty to one any player to hit
a five hundred plus foot home run in the World Series.
Speaker 1 (19:37):
Uh, that's never going to pay out because Otani hit
like a seven hundred foot one against the Area it
was three hundred and ninety.
Speaker 4 (19:43):
Feet, so comrand slam plus one ninety.
Speaker 3 (19:45):
Never bet in that. Never bet in that one. Not happening.
Speaker 4 (19:48):
Three or more home.
Speaker 5 (19:49):
Runs in any game in the series thirty four to one. That.
Speaker 4 (19:53):
Oh, I love that? Are you kidding? The left handed hitters?
The Dodgers have it?
Speaker 3 (19:56):
Yankee study?
Speaker 5 (19:56):
Do you know what the best payout I heard was
a promotion being run on our flagship here in l
A and five seventy LA Sports with the Seasoning Company.
You get a taco party at your house and it
includes the setups.
Speaker 4 (20:10):
For twenty not a helmet, nachos. How about that?
Speaker 5 (20:14):
Oh okay, anytime you put any of your buddies would
be sitting there eating out of helmets. I'm interested, I'm not.
Alton was an employee of the company, but danned. What
a great promotion, not to helmets for everybody. Oh you
get a nacho helmet and you get a nacho helmet.
Speaker 4 (20:29):
All right?
Speaker 5 (20:30):
So you want your dad to be sad when it
comes down, he's happy.
Speaker 4 (20:33):
I'm happy they're in the world. I can't.
Speaker 3 (20:34):
I just can't have them win. I can't have them.
Speaker 5 (20:37):
Do you want him to be teased like you and
your deal with the devil before this forty one to
six burial at the hands of the pitt Panthers.
Speaker 4 (20:43):
Your dad fought, Now, man, what are you doing? He did?
Speaker 3 (20:46):
He did?
Speaker 4 (20:46):
He did? He did? He did? You're disrespect him mine.
He might go Walter on he did nice.
Speaker 1 (20:51):
You know, Walter, I can't have the I can't have
the yes to change your pick. I can't do it.
I can't have Yankees win. I got a good run, man,
I can't.
Speaker 4 (20:59):
I can't do it. Uh.
Speaker 1 (21:01):
Now, that doesn't mean I wouldn't pick the Yankees to
win if I thought they were going to win.
Speaker 4 (21:05):
I just can't have them win. So you're saying they suck.
Speaker 1 (21:07):
I'm sick of these World Series where there's a team
I really just can't have one.
Speaker 3 (21:10):
Can't have anybody from the NLS t win. Can't have
the Yankees win.
Speaker 1 (21:12):
What year made everybody your damn enemies? I had the
year off last year, oh, Arizona and the Rangers. Yes,
even though oh I didn't want the Rangers to win
because they had sures Are and de Gram.
Speaker 3 (21:24):
But it turned out to be okay.
Speaker 5 (21:25):
You didn't want them to be getting paid by your team,
and they didn't play, so it doesn't matter. I still
have to celebrate and psychological crushed you.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
They didn't even play. It's part of the extended deal
with the devil. I get over that pretty a lot
of stuff. I get over that pretty fast. They didn't play.
I didn't have to watch it. Well, I didn't want
to have my white eyes. But but but like last
I said, no, I kind of had the year off
last year where yeah, that was I didn't want the
Rangers to win.
Speaker 4 (21:52):
But they won.
Speaker 1 (21:52):
But it's not that big a deal because again sures
Are and de Grom didn't play.
Speaker 5 (21:55):
Again, not a lot of people watched account.
Speaker 4 (22:00):
Yeah, I think you're right now.
Speaker 5 (22:02):
Dodgers are a minus one twenty two favorite in the series.
Speaker 1 (22:05):
The two biggest things that are that hit me on
this look. Starting pitching is a toss up. The Dodgers
are gonna have to run with their whatever situation they
have going on with flarerty to Yamamoto, bullpen games bueller.
But the Yankee starting pitching isn't great. After Garrett Cole,
it's all chances. I think it's better for Garrett Cole
that he's pitching on the road in Game one rather
(22:27):
than the Yankee stadium, but the starting pitching is a wash.
The Dodgers lineup is better top to bottom. The Yankees
have mashed this postseason, but it's really been Judge and
Stanton and that's been it, right. They struggled to get
production out of other parts of the lineup. Soto had
the big home run as well, so they have the
big mashes at the top. But once you get outside
(22:49):
the number four spot in the batting order, yeah, you're
kind of waiting for those guys to come up again.
The Dodgers have gotten it from everywhere. I mean Tommy
Bleep and Edmund. Man, I lost my shot at the
World Series Tommy Edmond, who's just a guy, gets eleven
hits and eleven RBI in the NLCS. Right, I lost
my chance of the World Series to Tommy Bleep and Edmund.
(23:09):
But the Dodgers lineup is better top to bottom. I
have more confidence they're gonna hit with runners in scoring position,
and they're going to be able to manufacture runs at
the bottom of the lineup. And I have more confidence
the Dodger bullpen is going to be able to have
a better series overall than the Yankees. The Yankees have
shown hey, we'll give it up late, right, you think
(23:29):
we're confident. I know weavers been again. We'll give it
up late. It'll happen, and it doesn't need to happen
every game. It just needs to happen once. I have
more confidence the Dodger bullpen is going to get the
job done, and their lineup is better top to bottom.
They will hit better. I feel weird about saying it,
but I really think it's going the distance. I want
to say Dodgers and five, but this is going seven
Dodgers and seven in what's gonna wind up being a
(23:51):
world series that we talk about for thirty or forty years.
It's gonna be that kind of world.
Speaker 5 (23:55):
He headliner after headliner a few days off now for
Freddie Freeman. So hopefully that ankle, they can keep the
swelling under control and that he can measure that. We
get a couple of guys back in the series overall,
Rojas and Vessia, like there's the there's the Triple Underscore,
and perhaps Graderol as well to bolster the bullpen.
Speaker 4 (24:15):
We'll see his availability. On the other side.
Speaker 5 (24:18):
Cortes coming back for the Yankees, but I'm looking at
a Dodgers in six.
Speaker 4 (24:23):
That's what I've been saying all week when asked, I'll
stick to.
Speaker 5 (24:25):
It here, that the bullpen game becomes the stuff of legend.
Like as much as you hate it, you have to
accept that it is here to stay across Major League Baseball.
And nobody's been able to orchestrate it better than what
Dave Roberts and this staff have done and the way
these players have been used. To your point about the lineup,
(24:46):
I think it's gonna be imperative about, you know, when
we're looking at Keith Hernandez and what he does in October,
and guys like Will Smith, where we see the bats
start to come to life a little bit. You mentioned
Edmund One of my biggest joys this we was watching
people with all their fines in the trading guard world,
going back to the Commons boxes of their twenty twenty
cards that they ripped open during the COVID and pandemic shutdown.
(25:11):
It's like, wait, I've got a comments box of all
sorts of crap over here.
Speaker 4 (25:14):
Look it's a stack of Tommy Edmunds. I'm rich. So
all of that to say too much for the Yankees.
Speaker 1 (25:20):
The only the only part where I thought you'll get
thrown every game, and the Yankees will win, and they'll
tell them to stay home for the other games. The
Dodgers played at such a high level in the NLCS,
and I'm a big believer in playoff momentum and bounces.
The Yankees did not play great in the ALCS. They
(25:41):
played well enough, but they made a lot of mistakes.
They've not played their best baseball yet. The Dodgers may
have played their best baseball right with the shutouts against
the Mets. The the games they realized, Hey, we're not
gonna win these couple of games because a Mets scored
a bunch of runs early, so we're gonna save our bullpen.
Dave Roberts kind of helping to give those games, given
those games the Mets, but just saying we're not going
(26:02):
to exhaust ourselves trying to get back in this game
where we're down six. Nothing So, but the other games
the Dodgers played, they got it from everywhere. The bullpen
was terrific. The bottom of the order hit Key Hernandez
hit home runs, the top of the order hit. My
only fear the Dodgers get a bit of a bounce,
but there's been enough time going back, the momentum, the
(26:23):
the the fact that Dodgers are getting two home games
in the World Series for the first time in a while,
and their team is.
Speaker 3 (26:30):
Just too big to fail.
Speaker 1 (26:33):
It's it may be a bit of rocky going on.
It's why said Dodgers in seven more than than in
five or six. But that's the only thing I look
at where I go ooh. Gives me the tiniest bit
of doubt in the Dodgers. But everything else makes up
for it. They have so many guys, and it doesn't
have Tommy Edmund may hit one seventy nine, key Y
Hernandez might hit four to fifty, right, that that might
be how it goes right. You might get Mookie Betts
(26:53):
hitting two fifty, but Tascar Hernandez might hit three ninety.
So the Dodger lineup just has too many ways to
kill you.
Speaker 5 (26:59):
The thing with the Yankees, as we talked about it
with your Mets, you know where you see the tail
of two types of plate discipline. Hey, would you guys
take a damn pitch. Oh wait, they actually now have
to come to us and we can actually mash a bit.
That's the Yankees, right, first ball swing and getting behind
and counts. They're a team that you can pile up
(27:20):
some strikeouts against. So how much plate discipline? How much
do they show and try to extend clarity to where
in game one we're getting into the bullpen early, because
that could set the tone for everything else. Right, if
you've got to go into high leverage to try to
get through game one, suddenly it sets everything off. So
the first inning plus when you get the heart of
(27:42):
the order coming through them and Judge and Stanton, they've
been known to waive the pitches and go sit down.
They've also been known to hit five hundred plus foot
home runs, So you know, can you get them to
chase out of the zone and get away from a
little bit of the discipline. If Clarity can do that,
huge advantage Dodgers. But that's the tail of the tape.
(28:04):
He's I think four and a half strikeouts is his
game one over under. So we'll watch from there.
Speaker 4 (28:10):
Exit.
Speaker 1 (28:11):
How about a Fresca exit swallowing dome. There's our picks
for the World Series Dodgers and six, Dodgers and seven.

get off the air. Meanwhile, things get a little closer.
It's so fine, let's find out what's trending. From a
guy who's been telling me all day. Jason Yankees in
four Yankees and kept saying, yeah.
Speaker 4 (28:47):
If I could pick the Yankees in three, I would.
Speaker 1 (28:49):
It's Steve de Sager, Okay, sure, ram my favorite whenever
I can say something and your comeback is yeah, yeah, sure, yes,
I always know I've succeeded when that's your comeback. Well,
the whole Yankees in three was humorous.
Speaker 4 (29:04):
I'll give you that. I know you were.
Speaker 3 (29:06):
Joking about the TV ratings.
Speaker 6 (29:07):
By the way, and yes, Fox TV again as the
world series this year starting tomorrow night, Yankees at Dodgers.
Speaker 3 (29:13):
But while on the one.
Speaker 6 (29:15):
Hand, it certainly will surpass the record low we saw
last year with Texas beating Arizona, there's no way it
approaches the Cubs finally making the World Series in twenty sixty.
Speaker 1 (29:26):
I'll take that bet with you. I'll take that bet
with you. For Yankees Dodgers, I'll take that bet.
Speaker 6 (29:30):
I made sure to look up the exact numbers. The
Cubs Cleveland World Series of twenty sixteen average nearly twenty
three million viewers and the Game seven Classic got forty
million viewers.
Speaker 1 (29:41):
Is that from the great baseball researcher Sarah Lanx. No,
but she should have this because it's just as accurate. Okay,
there's no way it's coming close to that. Okay, we'll
say it's going to be quite a bit better than
last year.
Speaker 4 (29:53):
Need loose to say.
Speaker 6 (29:54):
By the way, speaking of TV ratings, the NBA started
with the TNT doubleheader last night, just under three million
viewers for them, which is actually up compared to last
year because they weren't going up against the Baseball playoffs
this time. We got ten minutes to go in the
NFL game in La Rams Holding on twenty one twenty
over the Vikings. Vikings lost lost left tackle Christian dearrisa
(30:14):
early due to a knee injury. Each team scored a
touchdown on its first two drives tonight, Sam Darnold two
touchdown passes.
Speaker 4 (30:22):
He's up to two.
Speaker 6 (30:22):
Hundred and fifteen yards through the air. Matthew Stafford up
to three touchdown passes, one interception. He has two hundred
and thirty three yards through the air. Pookin Acua and
Cooper Cup each back from injuries for the Rams. Tonight
Cup with the td Puk and Acua seven catches one
hundred and six yards from Minnesota Justin Jefferson eight catches
(30:43):
for one fifteen And yes, there's a college football game
in the ACC Tonight's now.
Speaker 3 (30:48):
No, there is no game. There is no game.
Speaker 4 (30:50):
You got that right. It's a nineteen.
Speaker 3 (30:52):
It's a it's a replay of an old game.
Speaker 4 (30:54):
It's not a new game. That's right. I believe.
Speaker 6 (30:56):
I see Mark May on the offensive line here. It
is those uniforms pit Panthers at home right nineteenth by
the way, trying to go to seven and zero forty
one thirteen the lead over Syracuse. Mid fourth quarter, Kyle mccorr,
the Syracuse quarterback, became the first guy to throw three
pick sixes in a game since Kyle Allen almost a
(31:18):
decade ago for Texas A and M.
Speaker 7 (31:20):
So.
Speaker 1 (31:20):
If your name is Kyle, you could potentially have three
pick sixes in a game coming your way.
Speaker 3 (31:24):
Okay.
Speaker 6 (31:25):
Thing is for a team in the FBS to have
three pick sixes in a half hadn't happened in almost
twenty years, and that was FIU against FAU.
Speaker 4 (31:35):
And we can update that said.
Speaker 6 (31:38):
Kyle has thrown a fifth interception in this game, as
Syracuse trails Big at pitch.
Speaker 4 (31:44):
I have another U with an F for you, Steve.
Do you want that? You want that?
Speaker 6 (31:47):
You know? Let's move on to the NBA scoreboard, shall we.
We had wins for Dallas and Boston already, and we've
got the two late games underway, and yeah, in the NHL,
we've got eleven games tonight. That includes the Hurricanes leading
second period three to one at the Flames Dallas and Detroit.
EA Charity one US Women's Soccer won its exhibitions and
I three to one over Iceland in Austin, Texas with
(32:10):
two late goals and a reminder with World Series Game
one Friday night, that's pitcher Garrett Cole against Jack Flowerday
both their Southern California Natives games in LA and game
two there as well. Saturday nights eight pm Eastern time
when it will be Carlos throw down against Joe Shinobu Yamamoto.
Speaker 3 (32:27):
Back to you, Thank you, Steve O.
Speaker 1 (32:29):
The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmen live from the
tirerac dot Com studios. We'll keep you post on everything
going on right now. Seven and a half to go
in the fourth quarter. As Steve told you, Rams holding
on to a one point lead over the Minnesota Vikings.
But coming up next, how about the biggest epic fail
of the day in sports. That's no, it's actually it's
(32:55):
a bigger epic fail than that.
Speaker 3 (32:56):
There's no way a bigger epic fail.
Speaker 4 (32:58):
There's another Kyle.
Speaker 3 (32:59):
That's next, Jason and Mike. Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (33:02):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific, Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (33:11):
The Jason Smith Show with My best friend Mike Harmony.
Speaker 3 (33:14):
It's fine listen to Mark McGrath.
Speaker 1 (33:17):
He does like a show on XM, and I feel
like he went to one of those broadcasting schools where
they tell you you.
Speaker 3 (33:25):
Have to talk like this.
Speaker 1 (33:28):
This song was at the top of the charts in
nineteen ninety five. Drag It out five weeks at number one,
and then it came back, dropping down two weeks to
number two, bought a big push on social media put
it back on the top.
Speaker 4 (33:50):
People think that right the waves, just like with.
Speaker 3 (33:52):
Like old days of you, that that's how you have
to broadcast.
Speaker 1 (33:55):
I need to tell you about things, and I can't
change my register. I gotta be up here and then
down here.
Speaker 4 (34:00):
I gotta work here. I gotta start screaming at you
and yelling at.
Speaker 1 (34:03):
You, and I can be in the middle, but then
I'm gonna be up here and then to make my point,
I'm down here. But if I want to end on
an upswing, I'll tell you, Hey, everything the Jason Roots
for sucks except for the Mets say, is.
Speaker 4 (34:16):
That where Kevin Wyrett went to school.
Speaker 1 (34:18):
That all the Frotsburg You're going to hell, Man, you're
going hell damn uh.
Speaker 4 (34:23):
The Jason Sith shows, Mike, I'm thinking of you.
Speaker 5 (34:26):
If you're going into a positive song, then you go
up the register. If you're if you're breaking in the
those up tempo, do a dog dying, I can't do it.
And I tell you you know, here's mister bo Jenkos.
Speaker 4 (34:39):
I can't.
Speaker 3 (34:40):
I can't come out of this hang up tempo signing
a double do a dog die. I just can't do it.
Speaker 1 (34:44):
Uh So, let's talk about the biggest epic fail of
the day in sports. No stop nods a serious topic,
Uh it stop stop, It's just a night yeah Place,
I know, I'm only buying that stuff from now on,
Love Place. Three pick sixes for pitt tonight, and Syracuse
(35:04):
is getting pummeled forty one to thirteen, two.
Speaker 4 (35:06):
Minutes to go with the four thirteen.
Speaker 1 (35:08):
Now, the biggest epic fail comes to us courtesy of
Penn State and head coach James Franklin press conference today.
That just makes them look absolutely awful. Now, maybe you
saw this story the last week or so gaining a
lot of attention. A couple of Penn State players who
have since been booted from the team accused of sexual
assault of a seventeen year old girl earlier this summer.
(35:31):
And this story has gotten more attention over the course
of the past few weeks. Is more details have come
out and you see them in really it's a tough read,
just so you know, but you have two players who
are accused of sexual assault a seventeen year old girl,
and so you know there's gonna be questions. And so
when James Franklin comes to the podium to answer his
questions today and the first question is about this topic,
(35:54):
he sidesteps and says, Oh, I'm not answering this question.
Somebody else who handles public relations gonna come in and
talk about this situation.
Speaker 4 (36:02):
Hey, you guys have any.
Speaker 6 (36:02):
Questions, James at book point in the summer for you
where these guys are not going to be out again.
Speaker 2 (36:08):
Yes, the university already released the statement.
Speaker 4 (36:11):
If you need the statement, reach out to me or Chris.
Speaker 2 (36:13):
We'll have no further comment.
Speaker 4 (36:15):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (36:16):
And and James Franklin backs off.
Speaker 4 (36:19):
Yeah, the visual drinking water to a whole other level.
I'm not here.
Speaker 1 (36:22):
I'm just gonna drink some water while while you answer
this question. You know, Penn State, I'm putting out a statement.
They seem upset they're getting questions about this. Franklin goes
back to the podium, he gets another question. He backs
away again, and the guy says, guys, I told you
put out statement.
Speaker 3 (36:35):
You have a question to ask me. Hey, look like he.
Speaker 5 (36:37):
Was Homer Simpson going into the bushes trying to hide
from this. I understand this is Penn State. It's the
best season they've had in twenty years. The last thing
you want to do is talk about to your players
who allegedly committed sexual assault on a seventeen.
Speaker 3 (36:49):
Year old girl.
Speaker 1 (36:51):
But I'm sorry you have to answer these questions, especially
if you are Penn State. I know everything that happened
was before James Franklin got there, but hey, everything that
went on with Penn State under Joe Paterno and Jerry Sandusky,
that is still a big deal for a lot of it.
Nobody's forgotten that you can't just sit here and say, oh,
we're not gonna talk about it now. I'm not saying
(37:12):
you have to say and you have to say certain things,
but you got to answer the question. Even if you say, hey, guys,
I get it, this is something that is really difficult.
The university has taken this very seriously, and we're not
gonna have a comment to this time. My heart goes
out to the to the victim, or whatever you want
to say.
Speaker 4 (37:30):
You don't have.
Speaker 1 (37:31):
To say certain things. I'm not looking for James Franklin
to say, hey, this is what happened. This is when
I knew these guys allegedly committed this crime. And this
is when I kicked them off the team. I understand,
I understand that you want to, but you got to
say something. You can't sit here and just go, oh no, no,
I'm not gonna do it. You look awful. I mean,
especially Penn State, you can't do that. At Penn State,
you can't do it. It shouldn't be that, it shouldn't
(37:51):
be the same. It should be the same for all schools,
but this is especially at Penn State.
Speaker 4 (37:55):
You can't do this.
Speaker 5 (37:56):
Yeah, the prevailing considers that I saw obviously a lot
of folks condemning Franklin and the program, and rightfully so
in my opinion, off of this circumstance.
Speaker 4 (38:09):
And then I saw those going, well, how's he gonna
win it. It's like, it's not a matter of winning this.
Speaker 1 (38:12):
It's not a matter of winning just you have to
acknowledge it and talk about it knowledge.
Speaker 4 (38:17):
There's no winning this. But there's a way to lose, right,
We talk about it all the time.
Speaker 5 (38:21):
You don't win or lose a championship your first week
or fantasy titles in your first round draft pick, but
you can lose it, right, guy doesn't perform well, Team
goes asunder gets hurt. In this case, you lose because
you look like you're just abdicating responsibility and saying that
all right, this is all through the university. I'm not
(38:43):
a leader of men. I'm not showing any bit of
leadership in this situation. I'm literally gonna step away from
the podium, say nothing, and then drink water.
Speaker 4 (38:54):
Right.
Speaker 5 (38:54):
They immediately started asking, like anybody have any questions about
the game, And there's this awkward silence because everybody like, Okay, yeah,
we have questions about the game, but that's not the point,
Like this needs to be addressed other than yeah, well
refer back to us. No, coach, this is in your program.
These are people associated with your program, kids you coached that.
(39:16):
To step away from that and not at least acknowledge
all the allegations give it a base timeline and speaking
out as a representative of the school, saying abhorren behavior,
not tolerated, whatever statement you want to make, but sipping
your water and stepping away like you're at child.
Speaker 1 (39:39):
And because this is part of what being a head
coach is. It's not just about winning games, but this
is part of what it means to be a head
coach and James Franklin failed at that spectacularly.
Speaker 5 (39:49):
Today, complete lack of leadership and gutless. Gutless is the
word that ran through my head repeatedly. Exit out about
a Fresco exit Swollendome. Back to what's happening in the
NFL and big World Series preview from Vegas? Fox mistake,
also big mistake watching Syracuse play tonight Pick beat Syracuse
eighty one to three.
Speaker 4 (40:10):
They felt like it.
Speaker 1 (40:12):
They get three pick sixes in the first half to
beat Syracuse and then they're running a hurry up offense
with twenty seconds left in the game, up forty one thirteen.
I wonder what that handshake between Nardoozi and Fran Brown
was like. That's gonna be interesting for Syracuse for next year.
So those are your big football headlines happening right now?
(40:36):
What about the World Series? What about the odds? Who
does Vegas like? No place better to head right now?
Then to Vegas? Longtime friend of the show, former odds
maker at Caesars. Check them out on the Bet the
Board podcast. He sounds sexy. He's on CBS as well,
and is Todd Furman. Todd, what's happening?
Speaker 9 (40:56):
Bud Hey, kudos to the Orange for taking the drama
out of the football game tonight at a cruise your
field before we got to the end of the first quarter.
So Kyle McCord, step on up. You're the next franchise
quarterback of the New York Tetropolitans.
Speaker 4 (41:08):
Well, look, I wanted to make sure.
Speaker 1 (41:09):
Look, it's a big Thursday night football game between the
Vikings and the Rams. People need to watch it. They
wanted to make sure no one had to channel Flip by.
That's Syracuse thinking about you, Todd Furman, and you make
a big joke at their expense.
Speaker 9 (41:19):
I mean, hey, credit to Syracuse. They did win the statue.
They were plus one hundred and ten in terms of
overall net yards against Pittsburgh, and it's rare a team
can put forty one points on the scoreboard despite having
two hundred and seventeen total yards of offense. So we
can always credit the Orange for taking things to the
next level, whether it's in sports broadcasting or a variety
of other pursuits for the proud alumni base.
Speaker 1 (41:39):
Now, way, well, you said you said plus one fourteen, right,
there wasn't that The amount of total yards on interception
returns for the pitt Panthers tonight. I think there was
spuzzed one fourteen, when eighteen? What's something, oh, Suzy man.
Speaker 9 (41:51):
For that general vicinity.
Speaker 1 (41:52):
Yeah, it's a lot more football on the way. But
look here we are night before the World Series. Harmon
and I made our picks last. He likes the Dodgers.
In six, I like the Dodgers and seven. What are
you thinking right now about this?
Speaker 9 (42:05):
I mean, I'm a Yankee fan born and raised, and
while I don't live and die with the pin Stripers
like I used to when I was younger, it's tough
for me to make a compelling case against them. Although
if I'm taking off my Yankee fandom and looking at
this purely from a sports betting standpoint, you know, I
think the Dodgers offer a little bit of value, and
it's part of the reason that we have seen the
Dodgers get bet from right around to dollars thirty favorite
(42:26):
the series up to minus a dollar forty. Credit to
Dave Roberts. I know he draws a ton of criticism
for the way that he's handled the pitching staff in
previous postseasons, but cobbling together twenty seven outs has really
been an adventure for this team on a night in,
night out basis, and we'll see if some of that
bullpen magic can continue. Knowing that the Yankees have a
decided edge of the starting pitching.
Speaker 5 (42:45):
Spot, well that's where it gets fun. As we go
in game props for Game one, anything pop off the
radar for you there?
Speaker 9 (42:52):
You know, not really, I think these series kind of
take on a life of their own. So when you
try and figure out how the managers are going to
go about handling some of their matchups, sometimes it's good
to get a game under your belt and identify some
of the opportunities that might be there. We know the
headliners show hey TONI and Aaron Judge books are going
to force you to pay a premium to try and
bet those guys in any of the individual markets. So
I look a little bit further down the line up
(43:13):
for some of those role players that are going to
have a pivotal role in determining the outcome. But one
thing for folks who want to get involved in prop
betting when it comes to you know, postseason baseball, you'll
look at some of these over unders for the total
amount of outs that these pitchers will record, and it's
a little bit of a different spot knowing that these
managers are going to have very quick leashes, more so
than they'll have during the regular season.
Speaker 1 (43:33):
All right, Tod No, obviously show Heyo Tani and Aaron
Judge are the two big favorites for MVP. Certainly Soto
is going to be up there too. But if you
wanted to look for value at who's going to could
be the World Series MVP, don't say Tommy Edmond because
I'm never going to be over Tommy Edmond from the NLCS.
Who'd be a good value pick that you like for
MVP of the World Series?
Speaker 9 (43:53):
Would Francisco Lindor be a good option?
Speaker 10 (43:56):
Or it's a lot, Todd, Sure, I just wanted to
check and make sure that, you know, Mets fans were
growing as a loud course that he should have been
considered for regular season MVP, so I wanted to make
sure Fall Classic MVP was still very much, you know,
potentially on the table.
Speaker 4 (44:15):
But no, hey, awsity, he.
Speaker 1 (44:16):
Is going to be the first guy to ever unanimously
finished second in MVP voting.
Speaker 3 (44:20):
Come on, man, that's a big deal.
Speaker 9 (44:22):
I mean, that is the most Mets thing of Mets
thing that I've ever heard in my entire life. And
you know what, maybe they'll be able to hang a
banner at City Field for that, much like the Rangers
elected to do for being regular season champions because they
won the President's Trophy. But we're looking for a little
bit of value further down the board. Under normal circumstances,
you'd make the case for Freddie Freeman, but you're never
sure exactly how that ankle will hold up. You try
(44:44):
and look at you know, a Dodger's postseason hero, Key
k Hernandez. Credit to him. He apparently has really bought
into load management. From Major League Baseball standpoint, Take the
entire regular season off, just show up for the playoffs
and hope that you can become a Dodger legend. At
twenty five to one. An intriguing process pick there on
the Yankee side, you know, I think gian Carlos Stanton
is a guy that's probably not being given enough credit
(45:05):
for what he's meant to anchor the middle of that
Yankees lineup. Wan Soto and Aaron Judge get all the headlines,
but gian Carlos Stanton has been one of the clue
guys so far. This season coming up a timely hit,
so I'd make a slight case for him at eight
to one. I think there's a defined path for him
to get there.
Speaker 5 (45:19):
I really hope that if the Yankees were to win,
that that's the case, because Jason's dad has a liking
problem with Stanton.
Speaker 4 (45:26):
He really does.
Speaker 3 (45:27):
Oh yeah, no, no, no.
Speaker 1 (45:28):
My dad would almost rather the Yankees lose the World
Series than Stanton play well and be the MVP. They
would almost almost, I'm not right, but almost. He'd rather
have that happen.
Speaker 9 (45:37):
That is quite the interesting dynamics. But I'm not going
to try and get into your old man's psychology in
one way shape.
Speaker 5 (45:43):
Or For college football Saturday, LSU Texas A and m
LSU after the early struggle, now up to number eight in.
Speaker 4 (45:51):
The polls fifty five of the over under. And this
one's basically a pick him Todd.
Speaker 9 (45:56):
Yeah, I mean, numbers come down. We saw you in
him open as a three and a half point face favorite.
LSU taking some money A tough spot for the Tigers.
Third straight difficult conference game two weeks ago, they take
care of business against old mess They snatch victory from
the Jaws to defeat with an improbable comeback as small
home underdogs. Last week, they go on the road, very
workmanlike in dispatching Arkansas. And here's an A and M
(46:17):
team that I just have some questions about from an
offensive standpoint. Connor Wegman not a guy that leaves me
birming with confidence, but I do think Mike Galco can
scheme things up defensively to neutralize that talented LSU offensive line.
But the big thing for the Tigers and what's created
their resurgence this season as a defense that's starting to
take their identity of a defensive coordinator highly regarded in
Blake Baker. Witweeks has been outstanding taking over for Harold Perkins,
(46:40):
and his contributions more than evident on the stat sheet.
I like the game under the total of bit I
think fifty five is a big number, and I have
some major concerns about LSU being able to hit explosives
and AM and M consistently moving the football against that
underrated and drastically improved LSU stop unit.
Speaker 1 (46:55):
All right, Todd Pardy, you about the board podcast. You
had all your big college football games there. I know
you break down Tech is a Vandy. You have boys
in UNLV But how I don't know. I keep going
back to Notre Dame. Navy's just gonna be fun, Like
it's gonna feel like they should do the game in
blacket like that the Illinois Michigan game last week. They
should do this game in black and white leather helmets,
(47:15):
like it hasn't been this big a deal since probably
the mid nineteen forties Notre Dame in Navy last.
Speaker 9 (47:20):
Time these two teams played only a some years ago.
Though back in twenty nineteen, we saw Notre Dame coming
to the game as a seven point favorite and take
care at Navy to the tune of a fifty two
to twenty win. But the interesting part about this series,
to your point, is you know, for as often and
frequently as these teams have played, only the third time,
both teams will come into the game ranks since the
late sixties and Navy drawing all sorts of buzzs. Great
see the Service Academy is going out there and competing
(47:43):
at a high level. But you begin to dig into
that resume for Navy and there's some real questions about
who they faced for their offense and on the defensive side.
This could be a little bit of a jolt to
the system for him. Navy really starting to round into
shape after the NAU upset, and they're doing so with
decided results, not just trying to slip by by the
skin of their teeth. So when I look at this game,
I think it's a good by low opportunity for Notre
(48:05):
Dame and to be able to sell Navy stock at
the top of the market. I think the Irish win
and win comfortably, but there's no doubt will create a
very interesting atmosphere of met Life Stadium on Saturday.
Speaker 5 (48:14):
Shifting to the NFL, one of the games of the week,
Dallas coming off the buy a lot of finger pointing
Jerry Jones and his pressers and radio spots. San Francisco
banged up but a four point favorite at home, forty
six the total. Can McCarthy get them off the mat
on the road?
Speaker 9 (48:32):
I mean, you'd expect an all an effort from Dallas
in this spot, knowing they've had two weeks to sit
at home and figure out how to avenge a forty
seven to nine loss against the Detroit Lions and a
Dallas team that's three and zero away from home this
year and Owen three at home, but a must win
spot of sorts. I'm not optimistic that they're going to
get the services of Micaeh Parsons, which is still a
massive hole for this team defensively, you look at Dallas
(48:53):
on the offensive side, and other than Ceedee Lamb, not
much in the way of game breakers. But San Francisco
dealing with injuries in their own right, trying to figure
out who will won't be available at the skill positions
for them. Kyle Shanahan, though, has had Mike McCarthy's number,
and I think that's tough for me to try and
get over. When I look at this number, was waiting
for it to tick potentially as low as three if
some of those forty nine ers were ruled out. But
(49:13):
earlier today with Deebo Samuel getting in a limited practice,
number drifted out and I'll probably be on the sidelines
with the numbers sitting at four and a half and
forty seven here and ideally, you know, from a portfolio standpoint,
would love this game to end in a tie, as
I have both teams under their regular season win total,
So that would be the dream scenario.
Speaker 1 (49:29):
For me Vegas insider Todd Ferman. He is on Twitter
at Todd Firman. The links there for the Bet the
Board podcast for the big games in college football on Saturday,
the NFL on Sunday again. Get the link right off
his Twitter page at Todd Furman. Also on Apple as well.
Todd has always bddy appreciated and enjoy the weekend. And
now the Kyle mccordy stop throwing interceptions. I can calm
(49:50):
down a little bit.
Speaker 9 (49:52):
You know what I heard. He just got intercepted walking
to the bus. So we'll attack a six and one
onto his natchet his performance tonight.
Speaker 3 (49:58):
You feel good? You got that good, Todd? You feel good?
All right?
Speaker 4 (50:01):
Great every now and again.
Speaker 9 (50:03):
I mean after Syracuse came in our backyard and took
on from the rebels, I got to take a shot.
And Syracuse remains the great hope to knock off Miami
that regular season finale.
Speaker 1 (50:11):
Thanks a bunch, buddy. We'll talk to you day, Todd. Ah,
there goes Todd Furman. Great stuff from Todd. But now
we're going to get into the drama that just occurred
at the end of the Rams win over the Vikings.
The final score was thirty to twenty. Now the over
under was fifty seven and a half, so the over
under had already hit. Just so you know this this
(50:33):
last play, the safety didn't really affect it because when
it was twenty eight twenty we hit the over under
forty seven, sorry, forty forty seven in a row. But
the mistake by Cooper Cup we talked about a few
minutes ago not going out of bounds gives the ball
back to the Vikings, who have the ball deep in
their own territory. Sam Darnold makes a big mistake hashtag
(50:56):
old Sam a huge mistake by holding onto the football
way too long in the end zone and he gets
sacked for a safety that basically ends the game. Gave
an extra two points, obviously to the Rams. The game
a ten point lead. The Rams got the football back,
they kneeled on it. Bad mistake by Sam Darnald, no
matter what you're gonna say, bad mistake by Sam Donald. However,
(51:16):
a missed face mask call on this play is absolutely
It is unacceptable that the officials were able to miss
this because what it should have been was the Vikings
with the football out up near the thirty yard line,
and instead it was a missed call. And you see
Sam Donald's neck juke from side to side. There's no
(51:39):
way you can miss it. It's not a big scrum
in the end zone, and somehow the officials missed it.
Everybody argued it didn't matter. The football went back to
the Rams. They kneeled on it. They win this game
thirty to twenty. I can't wait to see what Kevin
O'Connell is gonna have to say about that coming up
in a bit. But we'll break down everything we saw
tonight why the trade the deadline might not be as
(52:01):
good as it was supposed to be because of what
we just saw. As we take a look back at
the biggest Thursday Night game of the year, the Rams
save their season and maybe take everybody off the trade
block as well. We lot more in this game coming
up next right here, we're just getting started. Happy Thursday,

NBA tomorrow nighter, Mike and I gonna give you our
parlay for tomorrow. Give me the Lakers giving one and
(53:06):
a half to the Suns. The Sun struggled mightily to
put away a Clipper team not playing with Kawhi Leonard,
not playing with Paul George. Yes, they had the wall
to worry about, but the Lakers looked fantastic against Minnesota.
They're gonna keep the early good season vibes going. Browny
James may not play, it's not gonna matter. The Lakers
got it from a lot of sources the other night.
(53:27):
They keep the good times going. Give me the Lakers
minus one and a half against the Suns.
Speaker 5 (53:30):
I'm going into your game defense is not gonna be
fixed in a game. You lost a lot in the
offseason and it showed with the barags. The Celtics put
up over to twenty eight for the Pacers and Nicks.

eight Pacers, Nicks, Lakers minus one and a half again.
