Sports Equinox tonight, the only night on the calendar, all
all four major sports are inaction.
Speaker 4 (01:02):
It's too bad that Paulo ben Caro fifty thirteen and
nine is only gonna get mentioned once.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
Yeah, I mean right now, that's it. Oh No, Steve
will tell you what's going on and what's trending. He'll
mention that that's fine, that's fine. Yeah, what do you
go from. You were going to Steve tonight when the
Dodgers are about to win. Oh I didn't know that. Okay,
apparently Steve can go home. Then there's no trending. You
can go home. Apparently you can go home. Steve's already
packing up, he's got his stuff, he's he's got he's
got his dinner. He's all set to go.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
Now, we'll get to Game three of the World Series
in a second. But I can tell you something. If
you like field goals and a lack of offense, turn
on Monday night. No, no, no, no, no, no, yeah, you're right.
There was plenty of offense. No, there wasn't sure there was.
Speaker 4 (01:45):
There was over four hundred total yards of offense in
the first half.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
There was like four hundred and forty yards. Yeah, okay,
offenses points on the board. Offense is not moving between
the twenties. That's just activity. Yeah, no, there was a
lot of activity.
Speaker 4 (01:57):
There was No I did that way, you know, the
sarcasm buckets sitting under me because I always laugh when
we get the dopey. Hey, they're first in the NFL
in total defense. They give up this many yards per again,
how many points a game do they give up like
twenty six, That wouldn't rank them first with it doesn't
matter how many yards? All about points, but yeah, field goals,
(02:18):
kicking your life field goals and how many how many
hops does it constitute to catch though George Pickens was raw.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
Yeah, well I think back to have two hops skip
one jump.
Speaker 4 (02:28):
That's what the rule book says, both feet as opposed
to I can hop multiple times in the end zone
and nobody cares. So if you if I caught the
ball in the middle of the field or a touchdown,
I hopped on one foot and I hopped all the
way out of bounds, I'd be out of bounds. Yeah,
from the middle of the field all the way through,
I'd be out of bounds. Wouldn't count studios catch okay
because you didn't get both feet down if I hop
(02:49):
all the.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
Way through, like literally as the rule reads, I mean,
that's it.
Speaker 4 (02:53):
You gotta get both feet down for a catch, right,
Greg Joseph or a part of the body.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
Three field goals, Chris Well, three field goals. That's good.
Nine to nine early in the third quarter. And to this,
I just want to put out submitted fear approval. Here
this is the exact same Steelers offense that was run
with Justin Fields. The reason the Steelers put points on
(03:18):
the board last week. How many short fields a day?
Take over with against the Jets. Russell Wilson navigated short fields.
That was the thing. That's why the Steelers scored so
many points. They had a big block that sent them
up in good field position. That's why the Steelers put
thirty seven on the board. This is much more of
a traditional hey punt ooh, we gotta go the majority
of the field and it's not happening right. This is
(03:39):
really who Russell Wilson is. This is not a great
Giants team. This is not a phenomenal Giants team. This
is not an incredible Giants defense. They're able to move
the ball, but yet tada. It looks so similar to
the offense they had with Justin Fields. Because this is
what we said, when you make the move to Russell Wilson,
you're gonna get the same thing, if not maybe a
little bit worse, because Russell Wilson can't make the with
(04:00):
his legs. They're running the football all over the Giants
knide right. Naji Harris has eighty four yards rushing. Jalen
Warrens got forty yards, averaging six and a half yards
of carry in still nine points. Because this is the
offense with Russell Wilson. This is much more realistic compared
to what it was a week ago.
Speaker 4 (04:15):
Yeah, I mean the opportunity for the deep ball is
there where. It's not with Justin Filds. And that's what
we saw, and they joked about it or really more
or less started building a shrine to Russell Wilson and
the moon ball. Yes, you have an opportunity for your
receiver to go make a play. The thing is the
receiver has to go make the play. It's not that
you put the ball in a perfect spot. That's not
what we're seeing where we watch other quarterbacks and eat
(04:38):
in a couple of balls. Daniel Jones is thrown today.
Yes I can actually invoke his name. That were downfield,
that were big, big throws. But overall, yeah, Russell Wilson,
no great shakes. You got the one big play to
Darnell Washington for twenty nine yards. Outside of that, it's
the methodical move the ball and try to win via
(05:00):
field goals and your defense. Same old formula, just a
different quarterback under center, So.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
We'll keep you posted on here. Hey, you never know
in the next field goal could come.
Speaker 3 (05:08):
We can be there.
Speaker 1 (05:09):
We can a field goal any minute. Man, you get
a field goal any moment. Dude, you're a Jets fan.
What are you talking? Field goal any moment? Oh wait,
you can't talk. No, we get no field goal. You
get excited, and we get none of about other other
people's field. Not gonna be good for twenty years, we
get no field. We haven't been good for twenty it's
gonna be another twenty because of Aaron Rodd. Hey, that's
not true.
Speaker 4 (05:27):
Those AFC title appearances were less than twenty years ago.
Sanchiz had them in the AFC title game less than
twenty years And.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
What they're back to all that they got there back
to back AFC championship games. We were and then got
there because nake cating missed some field. Ask me if
we've been to the playoffs since. No, we haven't.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
No, we have it.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
It's been it's a twelve year drought now going on thirteen,
fourteen years. It's going to be congratulations, hooray. All right,
but we're not here right now to talk about the Jets.
I mean we will, we will get to talk about
the Jets. However, right now, World Series, he's a pivotal
Game three the Dodgers and Yankees from the stadium, and
(06:09):
the Yankees really have their work cut out for them
right now. They trail the Dodgers three to nothing. As
the Dodgers bat in the top of the sixth inning,
Max Munsey just got hit. So the leadoff batter is
on first, Key k Hernandez is up and it is
a really difficult road. Sorry, Gavin Lucks, it was just hit,
(06:30):
not Max Munsey. Key Hernandez is up, Dodgers looking to
go up for nothing in this game, and you know,
it's it's a microcosm of what the series has been
so far, because basically it's been the Yankee hitters can't
hit and Freddy Freeman hits a home run. And that's
kind of what it's been tonight. The Yankee hitters can't
hit and Freddy Freeman hits a home run. This as
(06:53):
Key k Hernandez singles to center, Gavin lux comes all
the way around to score. It is for nothing. That's
the world say. If you missed any of the World Series,
I feel bad for you because you missed some incredible
baseball the first couple of games. You miss any other Jason,
can you can you recap the world to what did
I miss? Ry up? Freddie Freeman hits a home run
every game and the Yankees can't hit. There you go,
there's a World Series in three seconds. That's what it is.
(07:14):
Truly all you need to say.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
That's it.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
You got just put that in a box and be
done with That's it. Put it up on the shelf.
Nothing else.
Speaker 4 (07:21):
Aaron Judge is not missed October would be the kind
way to say it. He actually hit the ball in
the last last at bat and got a Bronx cheer.
They were excited that he actually puts I mean it
was a popup.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
Yes, it was that.
Speaker 4 (07:36):
Harry Carey might have called, yeah, team fly ball. Oh,
he's at the edge of the outfield grass and hauls it.
In one of those where it's like I hit the
ball and then Stanton gets thrown out and lumbering around
third base in a play that we've watched repeated. He's like,
I don't think he expected either a play or to
be sent Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
Yeah, we'll get we'll get to that.
Speaker 4 (07:55):
We'll get because we can't play it. So you know,
it's just that that hard of Major League Baseball rules.
The only time they actually might have been able to
surmount a threat, they ran themselves out of it. So
otherwise it's been a whole lot of nothing and Walker
Bueller being made to look like Cy Young.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
What do you got, Frostburg?
Speaker 5 (08:12):
I'm pretty sure, guys, at this point, Fox is photo
shopping in a bat in Aaron Judge's hands.
Speaker 1 (08:17):
Maybe maybe maybe he maybe maybe he's actually swinging a
hologram and that's why he's not hitting the ball. That's
actually just a holog He's actually the hologram he is
because he hasn't showed up. Why there's nobody standing next
to Will Smith. I can't believe this, But.
Speaker 5 (08:30):
How epic was it before the game even started, Fat
Joe predicting the future of how far Freddie Freeman's ball
was gonna go when he pointed this.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
Yeah, yeah, the Fat Joe pregame not gonna not gonna.
Speaker 4 (08:41):
He's no Ice Cube, Missus Joe and his intro or
Aaron John But just in general, we're doing all these
intros and I'm saying, yeah, okay, this is necessary. That
was lame because like even even the the ice ice Cube,
it's like, yeah, ice Cube, what do you do?
Speaker 1 (08:58):
I've done with epic, Mike, I mean, but but what epic?
Two other things about this game and that that that
are big right again? Dodge up four nothing Freddie Freeman
with a two run homer in the first and then
gives the Dodgers a lead they've squeaked out a couple
more runs. Jason, First off, how's your dad? Is your
dad okay? No, not at all. My dad is not good.
He texted me right before we started the show, and
his tech Hey, let me read his text. Hang on,
(09:18):
my dad said, hang on, I got it right here.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
Hang on.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
Uh keep Coal and Weaver, jettison everybody else. So that's
my that's my tax. Last text. Well, I mean go
back to at this point, he might want to get
rid of Judge. That's how bad it is. I mean,
he really, he might want to get rid of No.
Speaker 2 (09:41):
Man.
Speaker 4 (09:41):
I don't think enough to stop that. Love then started
in twenty seventeen. I think you're okay, But.
Speaker 1 (09:47):
I'll tell you two things about this game, right and
and and one one is about luck and one is
sometimes when when it's your time it's your time, right.
So the Yankees have a chance to put their first
run on the board with two out in the in
the last inning and a single of the left field
and gen Carlo Stanton, who was on second, is sent
(10:07):
home by former Mets manager Luis Rojas, now Yankee third
base coach.
Speaker 4 (10:11):
So what you're saying is the Mets or trying to
lose again. You're welcome Frostburg, by the way, You're welcome
for that. You're what You're welcome. Former Mets manager sending
Jim Carlos Stanton On wins. Yeah, you're getting one solo, relaxed.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
And the couple of things surprised me is it's an
aggressive send because Stanton, who doesn't run well, is sent
around third when Taskar Hernandez gets the ball. It's not
like Hernandez has the best army makes a good throw.
It's still a close play at the plate. But you know,
you and I were looking at this, You're going, man,
it looks like Stanton just just you know, rounded third,
(10:45):
like like like he like he wasn't you know, going
around great. And I looked at it and said, it
looked to me like he was felt he was being
sent because he didn't think there was going to be
a play, Like, he's not sending me with a with
a with a ground ball to left field unless I'm
gonna beat you. The lack of urgency, and the lack
of urgency seemed to run him as he's waving him around.
It's not a hey, come on, let's go, it's a
(11:08):
just uh all right, keep running. Yeah, I mean like that,
it's like, oh, he's sending me because there's there's no play.
And it's not that he slowed up at all, but
it's like that.
Speaker 4 (11:19):
I'm running and I think he had just I mean
because where the ball's hit, Like the fact that that
even enters the mind of hey, let's send him.
Speaker 1 (11:27):
It's a closer play that I thought. Yeah, yeah, I
mean really it was like because for forgetting the ball
when when when he's rounding the bag like he should
have been out by four or five steps and he was.
It was turned out to be a clown. He was out.
Turned out to be a close play, but he was out.
Now for the Dodgers. I mean, sometimes sometimes you you
can you can break down a whole bunch of stuff
and talk about why a team is winning and why
(11:48):
a team is losing and say, hey, you're watching this happen.
You can use analytics and saber metrics and all kinds
of stuff, and sometimes you just have to say, you
know what, it maybe now it's just your time. Because
look at a guy like Walker Buehler, who has pitched
fantastic tonight for the Dodgers. He was terrible since he
came back from injury this year. The Dodgers, you know,
(12:09):
they didn't want to have to put him out there,
but they had no choice. You can only have one
bullpen game. You can't go two bullpen games back to back.
Buehller was awful. He was awful against the padres in
in the first round of the playoffs. Gave up six
runs and five innings in a game the Dodgers lost
six to five. A right, he was awful before that.
It's not like he was great. His era was over six.
(12:30):
He was awful. But the last two games he has
pitched in that great game against the Mets when he
went five four innings, but still what four innings that
they needed. And now tonight with the series basically they
could put a stranglehold on it and win. Here he
is shutting out the Yankees. He has not given up
(12:50):
a run in his last nine plus innings pitched. Now
he's out of the game, and Bruce dar Gratterol is
in now for the bottom of the six because Bueller
has hit his his his pitch total. But sometimes sometimes
you think it's just your time because Bueller's awful. He's
awful in the playoffs, and the Dodgers put him out
there because they basically have nobody else, And suddenly these
last two games he's pitching like he's Walker Bueller five
(13:12):
years ago. Sometimes you go, you know what, it's just
it's just our time. There's nothing else you can say.
Then we're living right, and it's our time. Oh guys,
rise up to the moment.
Speaker 4 (13:22):
I mean, Freddy Freeman hadn't exactly been tearing the cover
off the ball, and all of a sudden, the World
Series flips. The ankle's fine, everything's fine, and he's seeing
it like it's a beach ball coming up there. Shoetani's
playing with the wacky doctors game operation with all of
the body parts going back and getting his shoulder looked at,
(13:42):
jacked up, whatever whatever they're doing to him to get
him back out there. For the next at bat. He's
rolling through. I mean, just add it up. It's just
been you know, Dave Roberts. How many relievers can you
go through and not find the wrong guy. I mean,
history says that doesn't happen unless you're Joe Maddenen. Yeah,
because that did happen.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
We were on air for that.
Speaker 4 (14:02):
But now Gradorol comes in, Walker Bueller throwing up zeros.
Not something any but would have been on anybody's BINGO card.
And sometimes it's just your time. Let Express Employment Professionals

we have a touchdown. Calvin Austin just returned to punt
for a score. Extra point is up and good the
Steelers the first touchdown of the night. See we got
a touchdown, sixteen to nine.
Speaker 4 (14:35):
They lead the Giants. Not bad for a guy that
didn't have a role, not on the field for that play.
Not on the field for that play. Comes back into existence.
Speaker 1 (14:44):

Right after the show is over, it gets up there.
Thank you so much for all you continue support. We
love putting out this content for you every single night.
A little bit of drama right now at the stadium.
Two outs two on alex Vesia in for the Dodgers,
to face Jazz Chisholm the near disaster for the Dodgers.
Bruce dar Graderol gets a grounder back to the mound
(15:53):
from Aaron Judge. He bobbles it, tries to get the
lead runner at second Tommy Edmond is barely able to
heap his foot on second base. You see the replay.
It was a good call, could have been first and second.
Nobody out. The Dodgers do get an out, uh, and
this is helping to stem the Yankee rally. So far
again two outs two on bottom of the sixth thenning
(16:14):
Dodger lely the Yankees by the score of for nothing.
Judge put the ball in play, though he did. At
least that was progress pop up. Last time puts the
ball in play and actually gets on first base.
Speaker 4 (16:24):
Now you had start to grab a cup of coffee,
all right, as the bills were being paid, and your
phone went off like fourteen times. Probably my dad, I'm
going to guess it was venting a little bit. Probably
the grounder that resulted in that four cunth One guy
who I know is hate watching this game. I'm sure
(16:45):
he's wearing a show.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
Heo.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
Tani Jersey, Max Munsey's pants. Maybe a Sandy Kofax hat. Wow,
longtime NFL insider. Check him out on Odyssey Washington Post
one oh five seven The Fan in Baltimore, Jason locking
for what's happening? Jay?
Speaker 2 (17:03):
What's cooling on? Man? I don't hate anything about this series?
Are you kidding me? Well? I'm watching? No?
Speaker 1 (17:08):
I love watching well because the Dodgers are up to nothing.
I don't think he'd be love watching if the Yankees
are winning being an Orioles fan, No.
Speaker 2 (17:14):
Then that would be hate watching. But this is great watching.
Speaker 1 (17:18):
You're waving a Dodgers Bennett.
Speaker 4 (17:20):
He did agree with our assessment, though, Jason, You've got
tweeted thirty minutes ago about the double agent boo.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
When do they start booing Judge in the on deck circle?
That's what I'm waiting for, Like, I just seen enough,
but I really wanted to Kannie with one arm to
hit one out and then Judge just keeps striking out
on sliders three feet off the plate like he's freaking
Austin Haze or something. This is awesome. I love it.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
That'll happen. Uh if the Dodgers are up three zip
in series and it's like six ' one in the
eighth inning of Game four. Then it will turn on Judge,
then Melbu Judge.
Speaker 2 (17:53):
No hate watching will be hate watching, will be them
watching him at seventy five meaningless regular season home runs,
just so they who is ass again in the playoffs.
I'm fairly enjoying.
Speaker 3 (18:06):
And Austin Hayes caught straight here knocking.
Speaker 2 (18:10):
My socks off. This is beautiful and all my Monday
night football bets already hit. So we're rocking a row.
Speaker 1 (18:16):
Look at you, congratulations on that.
Speaker 2 (18:18):
Wow, I keep losing NBA games by half a point here,
but yeah, put you under.
Speaker 1 (18:22):
So looking at the Monday night games Steelers and the Giants,
you know, this is more what I expected the Steelers
offense to look like under Russell Wilson got his dynam
look last week there were short fields against the Jets,
and you know they all they had a short field
off a block kick, and they had a short field
off couple of turnovers, so yeah, they're gonna get in
the end zone. But this is more what I expected,
more difficult to move the football kind of what it
(18:45):
was under justin fields, except there's no way to get
downfield better because he can't make the plays with his
legs that Justin Fields can No.
Speaker 2 (18:53):
I'm now, look, you know, the running the ball better.
I mean, Najie Harris is having the best three game
stretch of his career. But no, they're not finishing drives
and that sort of was the anomaly in the middle
of that game, you know last week, where they kind
of started getting going towards the end of the first
half and then obviously ran away in the second half.
And that's what they do. I mean, they have a
(19:14):
negative scoring difference on the first half of the Steelers.
They're top three in the second half. At least they
weren't going into this game, and maybe they'll improve on it. Yeah,
it's fits and starts, you know. I mean, Pickens almost
had to play in the end zone. It certainly looked
in real time at first like a touchdown. But you know,
(19:34):
the Giants defense is kind of tricky, like when they're on,
they're on, and Dexter is eating tonight, and that Steelers'
offensive line is still a little jaky. You know. I
think Russ is very aware of the pass rush, and
I think Russ is very aware of where he is
at this stage of his career, and you know, it's
just kind of a keep a simple, stupid game, right.
(19:54):
They just don't want to that's the thing up because
if they win, they take care of business at home
all Monday, they football, which they've traditionally done. Now all
of a sudden they're in the driver's seat in the
AFC North ANFC North.
Speaker 4 (20:08):
Also, you look at with the Ravens defensively struggling once again,
and suddenly Jameis Winston looks like a wizard.
Speaker 2 (20:17):
Well that's what you look if you give him three
Mississippi four Mississippi, he's going to find somebody forty yards
down field. And he dismantled them. I mean, the first
half was you know, he hadn't played in forever, and
they're kind of looking at him, and he's looking at them,
and you're wondering what the chess match will be in
the second half. And he comes out and scores twenty
(20:38):
three points in the second half. Like he comes out
the second half and it's completion for seventeen completed for
seven completes for five completion, it for fourteen, twenty three
yard touchdown, Like it's five for five, sixty five yards
and a touchdown. And they really didn't stop him from
that point on. And yeah, he threw three or foot
balls that could have been picked off, and that's what
he's going to do. But he'll also so you know,
(21:00):
play with an abandon that's going to bring people to life.
And when he gets under center and they run play
action under center, it's really affective. And Chubb had his
best game in a long time. They beat the Ravens
at the line of scrimmage, whip their ass and the
trenches on both sides of the ball. But the Ravens
defense is a joke. I mean, the passing defense has
been an abject failure all year. And when you score
(21:22):
forty some points and you're up, you know, thirty to ten,
it doesn't matter except for those fourth quarter collapses. But
that's a hard slog man, that's a hard way to go.
And they've got a weekend from the trade deadline, and
I'd be shocked if they don't make a couple of moves.
How significant are they, you know, remains to be seen.
But the spine of their defense is not what it
was a year ago. It's not even close. And right
(21:44):
now they don't have a free safety where at the
damn Rokwad Smith's a pretty pedestrian linebacker without Patrick Queen
next to him. And Justin Medadikee is a really good
football player, he's not, you know, the AFC's Aaron Donald,
which he was last year. And the edge rush is
a complete joke. So they better get they better get
the move and Andy Reid's already made a couple moves.
They better do something.
Speaker 1 (22:05):
All right, Jay, Let's stay in your area of the
country now and talk about the play that everybody can't
stop talking about. The Hail Mary from the Commanders that
beats the Bears. You know, you've seen all the different
thoughts about this today, eberflues making excuses, Oh maybe Stevenson
shouldn't have been yapping at the fans. You know what,
what's your big thing you take away? You know, twenty
four hours after we've seen this thing go down.
Speaker 2 (22:26):
It's a completely unprofessional operation, like from handling the way
they conceded to play the scary terry I'm gonna see.
Speaker 1 (22:36):
Excuse me, which denied had anything.
Speaker 2 (22:39):
It didn't matter right, they had not there, you know,
basically tried to slough it off like a total nothing
burger where they were in the wrong coverage. They were
an idiotic coverage for that situation, and they allowed them
to set up the Hail Mary and then obviously the
Hall Mary was a complete failure. Is this a team
that is so you know, emotionally immature with a coaches
(23:00):
that over his skis that they you know, score some
points for the first time in forever, and they go
into a bye week. I think they've won the super
Bowl in October? Like was this what it was?
Speaker 4 (23:08):
Like?
Speaker 2 (23:08):
They've that franchise finally has a monicum of success, and
it goes to their head to the point where guys
are stunting and fronting on the field instead of lucky,
like they had people who they employed to play football
and what's been a very good defense who literally aren't
facing the quarterback when the ball staffed with the game
on the line. Like, I don't know, man, it's it's
(23:28):
it's malpractice. I mean, it's leadership malpractice, it's coaching malpractice.
He was never going to be the guy who saw
out most of Caleb William's career anyway. And to me,
if you're going to draft a quarterback that high, you
know you might as well sell out to try to
get the best coaches as you can get to put
them around them, and they didn't. These guys aren't winners
and they haven't won, and they're not going to win
(23:49):
in Chicago because I don't think they're going to be
back mixed very well.
Speaker 4 (23:52):
Put I agree with all of that as the resident
Chicago and with some expertives thrown there in around the league,
we got a lot of foreign for right, we're getting
what NFL what they.
Speaker 2 (24:04):
Want, mediocrity, what the commission wants.
Speaker 4 (24:07):
So rising from the shadows of it, I guess the
the idea of the Buffalo Bills as a a better
contender in the wake of the Ravens loss, do we
do we buy on them a little bit?
Speaker 2 (24:21):
Well? Yeah, they're going to run away with that division.
So I mean they're gonna win that division by Thanksgiving.
I'm not even being facetious, no.
Speaker 3 (24:29):
I.
Speaker 1 (24:31):
Jet sho.
Speaker 2 (24:33):
Yeah, Well, I mean who else in that division is
gonna win eight games?
Speaker 1 (24:36):
You mean total total for one team? All of them
together are going to.
Speaker 2 (24:39):
Win, right, Yes, the other three together will reach eight, yes,
but but right now the Patriots are a tiebreaker away from,
you know, being second in that division. So they're gonna
walk away with that. What does that do to them
down the stretch. You know, how much are they able
to reconfigure or you know, rest or whatever. Like they're
a really good football team. I know they lost to Baltimore,
(25:01):
you know here in prime time that was a tough gig.
Do they have the people? Are they big enough defense
for me to hold up against Baltimore's run game? You know,
maybe not, But if they throw themselves to a lead
against Baltimore's horrible defense, you know, and they're the ones
who are up twenty one three instead of the raveis
being up twenty one three with a snap of the
finger like it was in that game. You know, it
(25:22):
might be different. And guess what that game might be
played in Buffalo. So yeah, they've always been viable for me.
I mean, is anybody catching the Chiefs though, Like that's
really not going to happen, right, I mean, that's that's
not happening. So, I mean, the Chiefs are going to
be your one seat and everybody else is going to
(25:43):
be playing to get you know, jockey the position to
have to go to arrowhead to save this season in January.
Speaker 1 (25:48):
Well, you know who's not going to catch the Chiefs
is Anthony Richardson, He's going to be out of breath.
So there is that well, where do you come down
on that having to come out of the game because
he was tired for a play? What do we come
down on that?
Speaker 2 (25:58):
New one? For me? It's a new one for me.
I kind of thought they were going to stick with
black Ough, and I thought to people around the league,
and they all were like, you know, you can kind
of stretch this thing for another week or two here,
and you know, when flat goes on the heater, you
should probably ride that out. And so I was a
little surprised that they went back to him so quickly.
(26:20):
He's been off all year. I mean, you go back
to Week one and you know they only lose by
two to Houston, but he had he you know, I
don't know what, he had forty some snaps in that game.
And there were like five winning snaps and like twenty
five losing snaps and five like Middley snaps. Like he
just hasn't looked. He hasn't. I mean, and again, he
(26:41):
didn't played much last year, but he's never even looked
really this year like he did last year. I don't know, man,
something just seems to be off. He's a really young kid.
He hasn't played a lot of football, and I didn't
think it would been the worst thing in the world
to send him for a couple more weeks and maybe
they end up going back there now out of the
you know, sort of like default. But yeah, at the
(27:03):
quarterback position that that doesn't really happen.
Speaker 1 (27:07):
He's on Twitter at Jason lock and for that is
at Jason lock and for check him out Washington Post
Odyssey one oh five seven the fan in Baltimore. Jay
has always money. Appreciate it, man. We'll talk to you
next week.
Speaker 2 (27:16):
Thank you, guys. Have a good week.
Speaker 1 (27:18):
Saybody, all right, great stuff there from Jason Lock and
for Well, I'll tell you if you needed Calvin Austin
to win your fantasy uh week tonight, boy, are you excited?
You also probably have a really bad team.
Speaker 2 (27:29):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (27:30):
We have another touchdown on the board in New York,
and and and and still the Giants continue to outscore
the Yankees in the entire series. Steve Sager has that
and more with What's trending right now in the wide
world of sport.
Speaker 6 (27:45):
That's because the Yankees don't have a good field goal kicker.
Speaker 1 (27:48):
Now they don't they're out in time.
Speaker 6 (27:49):
Pittsburgh Steelers are have twenty three to nine over the Giants.
It was all field goals in this game until Calvin's Austin.
You see Calvin Austin's punt return. The punter was rough
to know. He was actulutely blitterate. It's not called so okay.
We got our first touchdown in the third quarter, seventy
three yard punt return from Austin, and he's just scored
on a twenty nine yard touchdown catch from Russell Wilson.
(28:10):
So twenty three to nine, Pittsburgh leading at home. Nine points,
nine first downs for the Giants so far. This is
a Giants team averaging just fourteen points a game. Steelers
only allow fourteen points a game. To Game three of
the World Series. Pitching change at Yankee Stadium. Yanks are
up for nothing, Dodgers are up for nothing, and the
(28:30):
Yanks bullpen has been up often here in the late
innings because the starter didn't even go three tonight Clark
Schmidt two and two thirds innings, three runs, allowed, four
walks for nothing, Dodger lead in New York with two
outs in the top of the seventh, the Yanks are
on their sixth pitcher of the night, Clay Holmes the
Dodger starter Walker Buehler five innings, five strikeouts. LA will
(28:53):
have an all bullpen game tomorrow that'll also be on
Fox TV eight pm Eastern Time, a game well if
it's necessary. Wednesday night we'll also be on Fox eight
pm Eastern Dodgers trying to go up three games to
none in the series.
Speaker 1 (29:07):
I think Giermo Mota has already announced as the starter
for the Dodgers tomorrow. Wow, that's quite a pull, you know.
Speaker 6 (29:13):
I bet he could go more than some of the
innings these guyser Yeah, honestly. Royals catcher Salvador Perez won
the Roberto Clemente Award. Penn State quarterback Drew Allar could
be a game time decision this weekend with a knee injury.
This Saturday on Fox TV number four. Ohio State is
at number three Penn State New A Eastern Time mostly
finals from the NBA, and there are eleven games in
(29:35):
the NBA. Tonight, we had Jalen Brown with thirty points
as Boston defeated Milwaukee by final of one nineteen to
one oh eight. Jalen Brunson in New York eight of
twenty four shooting. The Knicks lost at home to Cleveland,
won ten to one oh four. Jalen Green of the
Rockets thirty six points. Houston has won at San Antonio
one oh six to one oh one, and mid fourth
(29:58):
quarter at Dallas, Mavericks ahead in the Utah Jazz ninety
six to eighty five. Earlier, Orlando edged Indiana one nineteen,
one fifteen. Polo ben Caro fifty points, thirteen rebounds nine
as sist ben Caro scored thirty seven points in the
first half. Washington won at Atlanta one twenty one, one
nineteen as the Hawks Trey Young was two to fifteen
(30:19):
shooting from the floor. Miami gotta win. Denver won in overtime,
Chicago edges. Memphis won twenty six one twenty three. Zach
Lavine thirty points. Lakers are leading early second quarter at
Phoenix thirty six to twenty nine. Anthony Davis already sixteen points.
Golden State Steph Curry was hurt last night a sprained ankle.
He will miss at least two games and in the NHL.
(30:40):
Among the eight games Winnipeg loss, the team was eight
and oho it lost to Toronto six to four. We
can update the Yankee bullpen has gotten out of it.
It's four nothing Dodgers in New York at the seventh
inning stretch.
Speaker 1 (30:53):

Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with Mike car And
Live from the tirack dot Com Studios. Bottom of the
seventh inning, Dodgers lead the Yankees four to nothing. Anthony
Volpi just struck out. Bat flew out of his hand
into the Dodgers dugout. Did they get to keep it?
I think so. Big play there, saving Dave Roberts from
(32:20):
some kind of irreparable harm. And that's exactly what happened.
As I watched the replay, Yes, Dave Roberts just ducked
his head. The bat was caught. The Dodgers manager is okay. Oh, well,
maybe they can claim that it was thrown at him intentionally.
One out, bottom of the seventh The Dodgers now hunting outs.
They are eight outs away from going up three games
(32:42):
to none. Doesn't the World Series? Does he use that
as get motivation for Game Game four? Oh, this is
like the ball was thrown in his general direction.
Speaker 2 (32:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (32:51):
Now, now now you see, oh man, and watch how
many relievers I bring it in this game. We're gonna
have to make two changes in it. It'll be eighteen
guys coming in this game. Jason.
Speaker 5 (32:59):
Yeah, No, how much money Aaron Judge would pay to
have his bat move that fast.
Speaker 1 (33:04):
Or to have the ball go as far as the
bat went, because that doesn't happen either. I think, really,
I think really, I think in this one, I think
in this series earlier that bat bi Volpi has gone
farther than anything Judge is hit. I think I think
you want to measure that outay with a tape measure.
I think you're right about that.
Speaker 4 (33:19):
Well we know it's a fugazi tape measure anyway, right
some of these home runs, Yeah, it was three out
of twenty feet, like seriously, it brought rain.
Speaker 1 (33:27):
So we'll keep you updated here. The Giants making it closer,
with the Steelers turning into a one score game, twenty
three point fifteen Steelers, with the league still fortunately or
unfortunately however, you're looking at this game a lot of
time left, about eleven minutes to go in the fourth quarter. Again,
we'll keep you updated on this one as well. Meanwhile,
(33:47):
let me just tell you this. Okay, the Jets season
is over. Okay, I know so many people are happy
all the Jets that Jets season's done. Look, I don't
want to rehash that this game yesterday, it was just
you brought it up so many levels. It was awful.
So but look the the Jets, and this is this
(34:07):
is typical Jets is Like normally, when someone sees a ends,
you have like a one day funeral and you move
on to other things. No, no, they play Thursday night.
So this is gonna be an entire week of Jets
funeral with speakers and dedications and all sorts of events,
and it's all the way through Thursday night because they
played the Texans. Is gonna get killed by the Texans
and texts are gonna throw for five hundred and fifty
(34:28):
yards in this game. It's gonna be a whole week
long funeral because anybody doesn't get enough out in the
next couple of days, I'll be ready to raar a
go on Thursday night following that game. I can't wait
Jet's funeral and then Joe mixsday number will be done.
Then Friday, then Friday it will be done.
Speaker 4 (34:42):
Oh you're help by the fact that it will be
Friday ended in such spectator.
Speaker 1 (34:46):
It was that did help. That did help. That did
help a little bit. That you ropping up me even
though they played terribly for the first you know, fifty
two minutes.
Speaker 4 (34:53):
Yeah, that people seem to have forgotten that they were
about to steal the game before they get it back.
Speaker 1 (34:58):
Yeah, thanks helping.
Speaker 4 (34:59):
Yeah, which you tried to help a little bit, Like
you had a bad day, Mine got worse and then
I took a nap.
Speaker 1 (35:05):
But but let me tell you this. Yeah, for all
the things people think are wrong with the Jets, all
the things people but so many, it's Rogers faults. The
defense's fault. Defense that was just good.
Speaker 4 (35:14):
There's only one thing wrong with the Jets, one thing,
only one thing wrong with that one giant bucket. And
if they could fix this, they'd be a playoff team.
Speaker 1 (35:24):
One thing. There's just one fun thing you can say,
say it's Rogers, it's the offense, it's the lack of
clutch plaze, they can't kick a field goal, all these stuff.
There is one thing, and the only thing wrong with
the Jets, one thing. Ask me what it is. What
is that one thing that's wrong with the Jets. They stink.
That's what's wrong with the Jets. They sums it up nice.
(35:47):
They stink. Now you want to know, really to get
into Okay, how did things get this bad this fast
for the Jets?
Speaker 2 (35:54):
Right?
Speaker 1 (35:55):
How did I told you this was my worst case
scenario that things get sideways early, because then things are
gonna get really bad. Things are gonna get really bad.
Speaker 2 (36:04):
Right.
Speaker 1 (36:04):
But when when I say, okay, why did this happen
like this? With this collection of talent, and they keep
adding guys, we're adding DeVante Adams, doesn't matter. Adding us
on Reddick doesn't matter. It doesn't matter, It doesn't matter.
All this great talent nothing matter. We're firing the head
coach doesn't matter because the Jets are run like a
clown car, and and and there you need in the NFL,
(36:24):
the most important thing you can have is the top
three positions. We've talked about this with the Jets before,
is the top three positions need to be strong, and
that is owner, general, manager, head coach. When you have
those three positions being strong, you can accomplish a lot.
Quarterback right now, but this is off the field because
it's it's not because on the field, you can see
quarterbacks quarterbacks in play, they can play well. You can
(36:45):
see guys win games. Teams of good quarterbacks win games.
Sometimes teams the good quarterbacks don't win games. But you,
if you have the structure in place right, you're going
to be more apt to succeed because you're doing things
the right way. The Jets don't succeed because they have
absolutely no plan and no identity. They have been typical.
Let's continue to fix stuff on the fly by throwing
(37:06):
stuff at the wall and seeing what sticks. It's not working.
Let's fire the head coach not working. Let's trade for
wide receiver not working. What's not working. Let's make all
of these changes. And none of the changes they have
made are able to stick. There's nobody with any sort
of leadership. And that gets down to you want to
talk about on the field. It trickles down to on
the field where they have to burn all their timeouts
because they can't get a play call. They have to
(37:28):
take a delay of game penalty on a two point
conversion in the final three minutes because they didn't like
the play. And I don't know why they didn't call
time out. I think it's pretty important to try to
get two points so you can go up by a field. Balk,
you think that's a big thing. No, No, Aaron Rodgers
didn't want to call time out because I figure we
should save the time out. No, how about instead of
trying to get the two point conversion from the seven
(37:49):
yard line, you try to get it from the two
and then you throw the ball to the three yard
line and Mike Williams gets tackled. So the touchdown by
the Patriots, instead of meaning overtime, means they win the
bleep be game. And after the game you hear the
Jets say we need to do this more, this better,
this better, this better. There's so many things they don't
do well right, And I just mentioned a little bit
of how oh, we can't get the plays in and
(38:10):
we can't call right. The cadence isn't right. All the
crazy as the things that you've heard from the Jets
all season long. The Jets are run horribly. They are
run like a clown car, and when that happens, you're
not going to win. The Jets have the talent, they
have the players, they should be doing better, but there's
no leadership, there's no accountability, there's nowhere to go, there's
(38:31):
no identity, and that's why they lose these games. They're better,
their roster beats the crop out of the Patriots and
still the Patriots the first team in NFL history to
have less than two hundred and fifty yards and score
less than twenty points. Not talk about it. Whatever, crazy
ass that one. Yeah, there was a lot of stuff.
I find it if you want. This is this is
why the Jets don't win because they are run horribly. Right,
(38:53):
my two teams, Jets and the Mets. Why are the
Mets winning now? Mets are run really well, good owner,
really good president of baseball operations, real good manager. They're
set up to win. And Grimace and forget hawk to it,
but they're set up to win because they know what
they're doing. Now they finally have gotten the top three
positions with the organization in place, and the Jets just
continue to look awful, like they have no idea what
(39:15):
they're doing. There's no identity, no plan, no leader. They
can't even get stuff right on the field. It's a
whole big trickle down.
Speaker 4 (39:20):
Yeah, they didn't turn the ball over. That was the
other part of the Yeah, yeah, thanks trying to help
this best physicity.
Speaker 1 (39:26):
What like seven hundred and fifty and one. When that
happens the first loss of the Jets anything anytime, Hey,
that's never happened before in NFL history. The Jets will
do it. They'll find the Jets question.
Speaker 4 (39:38):
But look, you sold your soul as soon as eight
walk through the door, Joe Douglas, whatever was building, it stopped, right.
That's the Hey, we're building this cool house and now
we've run out of money.
Speaker 1 (39:49):
And it's sitting there. Boy, that was really looking like
it was gonna be a great project. Yeah, they ran
out of cash because.
Speaker 3 (39:55):
What did they do?
Speaker 1 (39:56):
They started building over there with what he wanted.
Speaker 4 (39:59):
On the other side of now, you got Reddick in
a slap fight with Bill Belichick about comments he made
about running, you know, creating running lanes for the quarterbacks
by you know, his his rush and lain integrity, and
he's mad about that, getting back on the veil, all
of those things. Kart Wilson's got three one hundred yard
games in the last four weeks. You know what, it
(40:20):
doesn't matter because you're getting run on time and time
again and
