Speaker 1 (00:30):
Hello, Welcome inside hour two The Jason Smith Show with
my best friend Mike Harmon HEMO live from the Tirack
dot Com studios tirac dot com. I'll help you get

(00:51):
to go in the fourth quarter, the Bucks have crossed midfield.
The Chiefs are trying to hold on to a twenty
four to seventeen lead, and if you've watched any Kee's
game in the last year and a half, you know
it's gonna end either with a fourth down incomplete pass
or a fourth down incomplete pass.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
And pass interference isn't called one of those.
Speaker 4 (01:10):
Ways, how it's gonna look at you? And how about
a presca for those Chiefs fans that you know are
listening to us. Uh So look, obviously you look, we'll
have more on this game coming up in a few is.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
But I got a really fun voting story to tell
you what you want to really fun there.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
Okay, So, uh look, tomorrow is that election day. Everybody
get out and vote. Vote, vote, vote.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
It's the one thing you can do. Vote, vote, vote, vote, vote,
go and vote. If you voted already, great if you haven't,
go vote. So I voted early and I voted yesterday. Right,
So I go to the I go after football and
I go to my polling place, and I tell you,
it was so cool was that the number of volunteers,
the high school kids who were working and helping, and
(01:53):
it was just so they were so into it and
making sure everything was was going the right. It was
just so really cool to see to see the kids
doing that. I was like, I was emotional. I'm like,
oh my god, this is so awesome. So, you know,
we're there and it's kind of a light atmosphere. It's
not very busy on Sunday because it's Sunday, right early voting.
And so the woman who was running the voting, the
voting pollie, she's really fun. She's talking to people as
(02:15):
they come in. You know, everybody's at ease, you know,
voting every if you have questions, come ask.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
Okay, great.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
And and then somebody is sitting in a big Michigan chair,
like there's one of those big Michigan pop up chairs
you take take with you, a portable chair. And I said, ooh,
I said, oh, who's Michigan chair?
Speaker 3 (02:30):
Is that?
Speaker 1 (02:30):
She goes, oh no, that that's Sylvia's. Yeah, yeah, no,
she's Michigan. Yeah, be careful.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
I said, okay, So like all right, you know whatever.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
Soa and Sylvia was out of the room obviously, so
I go and I vote and I finished, I put
my you know, I put my ballot and everything else,
and and the guy comes over. He said, great, thank
you very much, thank you so much. When he says, oh,
thank you. And then the woman, apparently Sylvia, was sitting
down and and I said, oh hey, I said, I said, hey,
sorry about h sorry about Michigan yesterday.
Speaker 4 (02:56):
She goes, I'm sitting I'm doing they did yesterday. I'm
just sitting down.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
I was like, oh, all right, then, how do you do?
Speaker 3 (03:04):
All right? All right?
Speaker 4 (03:06):
Did you try to give her a hope about you know,
Blair under I mean Bryce Underwood coming in and fixing things.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
I said, hey, listen, in two weeks you're gonna play
Northwestern and the big phrases and Bowl eligibility.
Speaker 4 (03:17):
All right, that's good. That's your biggest game of the
year is going to be Northwestern. You could ruin Michigan
because they're not going to win again unless.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
They beat You could ruin Northwest. Ruin Michigan season. Mike
Carmen absolutely ruin it.
Speaker 4 (03:30):
You know me on a week two week basis, I
ride the lightning with my wildcatch as to what level
of competency I'm going to get in from coaching calls
and efficiency on the field.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
Uh So, again, go out and vote vote tomorrow. Vote vote, vote,
vote vote now. While we'll have more on this game
coming up in a few minutes. Again, Chiefs and Bucks.
Still a minute and a half left to go. The
Bucks have the ball and the chief side of midfield.
Some big moves today in the NFL. Right, we saw
the Saints fire Dennis Allen and the Las Vegas Raiders
fired Luke Getsi, a couple other coaches, their offensive coordinator.
(04:04):
And look, here's the here's the takeaway from this, right
because we told you weeks ago Dennis Allen was getting fired.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
What we say it was going to be a week?
Did I win?
Speaker 1 (04:11):
Did I win if I said the over under? If
I said one week? I think I won that mic
because I said under for Dennis Allen.
Speaker 4 (04:16):
But remember when the Saints were good? Now that ties
back into the maybe the Cowboys just stink? Take Yeah,
we've exactly been talking about for a long time. You
can find that on the podcast as you downloaded. Give
it five stars, rate it, review it, Send to your
friends and family the holiday season approaches.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
I'll tell your worst loss of the season by an
NFL team Jets, Patriots or Cowboys, Saints.
Speaker 4 (04:37):
Well, the Cowboys stink? Who so Patriots?
Speaker 3 (04:41):
Okay? All right, you're okay? Are you right?
Speaker 4 (04:43):
I see what you're trying to do there. I had
I had to just bring it back.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
But look, we told you was gonna happen again ahead
of the curve. It's like the fourth time we've done
that today because we are But like you see these
moves and I understand them both, right, because when when
when a coach has lost the team or team is
not trying DJ Moore, Uh, you know when that happens.
But on that play and hop off. Yeah, but stilly,
(05:07):
why he walked off? He didn't just stand there like, Okay,
I gotta make sure a defender.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
I gotta occupy a defender. Nope, gonna walk all the way.
Speaker 4 (05:15):
To bed.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
Still running.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
Hey you stepped out about No, I can't come back
in h I understand the need, right, And Antonio Pearce
is trying to save his job and and here's his fine,
But like, why are these done? I mean, forget about
you know the lip service you read about. Oh our
season was two The team is too good. We have
to do accomplish more. We should be playing better. That's
a load of crap. Neither of these teams came into
(05:41):
this season thinking they were gonna be any good. Nobody
thought they were gonna be any good. The Saints one
of the worst teams in the NFL, and we told
you they were gonna be one of the worst teams.
But after Week two was I'm gonna say no, they
just happened to win two games, one over the previous
worst team in the NFL, which, oh, by the way,
they lost to yesterday, which got the coach fired. We
told you they were gonna be bad. We know their bad.
(06:02):
We knew the Saints are gonna be bad. They're not
coming with any sort of aspirations. Same thing for the Raiders.
Look at the look at these teams' rosters.
Speaker 3 (06:08):
Look what they did. Look at they brought in a quarterback.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
For the Raiders, they traded their best player in Devonte Adams.
How are they supposed to win with what all this
is is just a mid season window dressing to play
kate fans and the media.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
As they continue to tank for twenty twenty five.
Speaker 4 (06:25):
Because maybe the Saints had a little bit of a
maybe this year'll be a little bit different, but they
know we're done.
Speaker 3 (06:31):
We need a quarterback.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
We had to find a way to get out from
Derek Carr with all this money, because he's not any good.
Speaker 3 (06:35):
He's not the answer.
Speaker 1 (06:37):
And the Raiders they've been waiting for a quarter But
I mean it's the Raiders who know they don't even
have a plan. But both teams know coming in this
year is gonna stink. We're not gonna be any good,
and we're gonna wind up playing for twenty twenty five.
However we do it, whether it is an absolute tank,
or we trade players away, or we just stink.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
But all this is is so in the middle of
the year, you didn't get overwhelmed with how can you
not do an thing? How can that do something to
try to make this team better?
Speaker 1 (07:02):
And when you fire somebody, you let people go okay,
The media and the fans kind of back off and go, okay,
this wasn't working. Now we see what happens. But you know,
when you start firing people, this season is basically over.
The Jets are the only team trying to convince it. No, no,
we fired our a coach. Everything is fine.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
We're gonna be great with jeff Oldbrook. That would be great.
We're not gonna do three more games in a row.
We're gonna be great.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
When that happens, everybody subconsciously knows, okay, this season is over.
So this is one of those optics lip service where we're, yeah,
we're making it look like we're solving the problem, but
all it is is we're just we're just backing off
all the hate and the attention and the dysfunction that
we seem to have, so we can just make people
understand that. Yeah, like we're trying to solve the problem,
(07:43):
and really we're just trying to run out the clock
on the season. Now we've just hit November and you
had a couple of teams who decided we're running out
the clock till next year.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (07:51):
I mean, as you look at the Saints, I mean
we also had the fun Michael Thomas litany of tweets
going up against Derek Carr after a lava took the
hit that he did, very scary moment on the field,
and I hope he's up and moving and it gets
himself right whether we see him or not. I mean,
he probably shouldn't see the field again the rest of
the season because he'd already had a concussion earlier. But
(08:14):
you know, you've got Alvin Kamara, who's great. You could
you spin him off in the next twenty four hours,
just do a complete reboot as you go through. You
got a huge sixty million dollar get out a jail
card on Derek Carr after the season, and you're gonna
be in prime position to go draft one of these
quarterbacks up top for the Raiders. We know they covet
(08:35):
Shador Sanders in a major way. So you have that
all of you. You know we're getting d on in
Shador in Vegas, right, I mean, you know that seems
perfect done.
Speaker 3 (08:43):
You know that's happening right after.
Speaker 4 (08:45):
Like we said, three weeks ago, Colorado plays in the
NCAA playoffs, then Dion can go.
Speaker 3 (08:51):
To Oh it doesn't matter. No, I don't think it matters.
I don't think it matters.
Speaker 4 (08:55):
No, No, I need my prediction to come true. Jack,
I'm gonna stay with me.
Speaker 3 (08:59):
No, I get it.
Speaker 1 (08:59):
But that's not going to change going to the Hey, Dan,
you failed spectacularly at Colorado at two years. Now you're
the head coach of the Raiders. Like that track, Wow,
that doesn't matter. You might as well just go to
the Raiders. Right now, it's looking good, you're feeling good.
You're looking to good in the conference. But yeah, it's both.
These squads just blew it up.
Speaker 3 (09:20):
You know.
Speaker 4 (09:20):
For the Saints, they were on our board here that
we have in the studio, you know, fill out super
Bowl teams, worst teams. I had them penciled in, and
folks like, ah, you said the Saints are two and Oh,
it's like, I feel pretty good about it right now.
Actually they're gonna have a share. They might not be
right there, but they're right right there with the Panthers.
So yeah, it's it's a disaster. And I want to
(09:41):
see if Derek Carr and uh and Dennis Allen can
get paired up one more time. There one more owner
who hasn't been evident enough to get suckered in.
Speaker 2 (09:50):
You never know.
Speaker 3 (09:51):
Hey, you know what? Hey, hey, you know David Tepper's
right there in Carolina.
Speaker 4 (09:55):
Oh, you never know.
Speaker 3 (10:00):
We're alling on.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
I'm all in on Jordan Travis because apparently he was
the best quarterback in all of college football last year,
because Florida State hasn't won since he got hurt, so
he should be getting way more credit.
Speaker 4 (10:10):
You want to talk about miserable fans, Lord, some of
the videos going around, I mean, what one eighth full
stadium and what was it?
Speaker 1 (10:21):
Ashton gent scored more points himself than than of Florida
State all season.
Speaker 4 (10:27):
It's just insane, It's insane.
Speaker 1 (10:31):
Uh So again, look understand, this is window dressing. This
is something needs to be done. So someone steps up.
A guy gets fired, A couple of guys get fired,
and then then the critics back off. Okay, we'll let
this go, and now you can just continue to suck
in in in relative obscurity. The Raiders can suck in
a little bit less obscurity because the Raiders are always
kind of fun because of dysfunction. But now the Sames
(10:52):
can be completely and totally anonymous the rest of the year,
like we don't have to spend any time talking about
then the rest of the year. If you have fantasy players, great,
and you know, I don't know why you're playing that
many guys, but if you do, okay, great, But if not,
it really doesn't.
Speaker 4 (11:05):
Well, two of the guys are gone. We're not going
to see a Lave again. And obviously Shaheed done for
the year. So it's really been the Alvin Kamara and
if desperate, break glass in case of emergency, Derek carr
as he returned because maybe you had to this week,
you know, as we're looking at injuries and effectiveness, and
you had Russ and Purdy out up for their bye week.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
So again, understand that's what's happening with the with these moves,
But meanwhile, what's happening on the field right now, A
lot of drama Chiefs and the Bucks. Let's get you
caught up on what's happened in the last few minutes.
Baker Mayfield drove the Tampa Bay Bucks down the field.
He was terrific on this drive. He throws a touchdown
(11:50):
pass to Ryan Miller, who was a great goalie.
Speaker 3 (11:52):
Well a lont of time for the Sabers. I mean,
I didn't know he'd have this second run.
Speaker 4 (11:56):
Team USA goalie Ryan Miller was fantastic and now here
he is catching asses for the Bucks. That's a help
right there.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
The Bucks tie the game with thirty six seconds to go.
Speaker 3 (12:07):
They kicked the extra point.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
Now it is rainy, it is the weather is not
great in Kansasity right now. It's a lot of fog
is set in and then leave, so they kick the
extra point. They get the ball back to the Chiefs
who get it with about thirty about thirty a little
less than thirty seconds left to go. Patrick Mahomes driving
the Chiefs near midfield, and the last two plays should
(12:28):
have been interceptions that just hit the ground before someone
could get there. A tip pass to Travis Kelcey was
just missed, and then Winfield just missed jumping a route
and getting a pick near midfield. So we're gonna wind
up going overtime because the Chiefs are punting with eleven
seconds left to go in the game, so likely the
Bucks of letting the ball hit the ground. It's at
(12:51):
the twenty yard line, so you know the Bucks are
gonna kill the clock and we're gonna go to overtime.
Twenty four twenty four The magic of Baker Mayfield, Mike Harmon, yeh.
Speaker 4 (12:59):
Win Field almost with picks on back to back plays.
Speaker 5 (13:03):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (13:03):
Frostburg and I though after the Miller touchdown, you just
kept screaming, go for two, come on, go for two.
So today broke Bowls.
Speaker 1 (13:13):
So that's where we Yeah, come on, tell like Todd
brokem Todd Bowles is gonna out coach everybody.
Speaker 3 (13:18):
Man.
Speaker 1 (13:18):
I would have gone for two before the Jets broke them.
Hashtag super Bowls, hashtag super Bowls.
Speaker 3 (13:26):
Uh. So coming up next, we have overtime with the
Bucks and the Chiefs.
Speaker 1 (13:30):
Baker Mayfield trying to get himself back in the MVP conversation.
But speaking of MVP conversations, something I never thought i'd
say about who I would vote right now to be
NFL MVP who is it?
Speaker 3 (13:45):
We'll tell you next right here, Jason to Mike, this
is Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (13:49):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app
Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (14:00):
The Jason Smith Show with My best friend Mike Harmon
Live from the tire rack dot Com studios. Over time,
more than underway between the Chiefs and the Bucks. Chiefs
get the ball, they have not relinquished it. A completed
pass to Travis Kelce's caught a couple of passes on
this drive. The Chiefs have the football just outside the
(14:21):
ten yard line of the Bucks. A touchdown wins this
game for Kelsey. He's got thirteen catches, which is a
career high for him. I believe Harmon check. I think
he's got thirteen catches in eighteen yards. I think that's
the number for Travis Kelce.
Speaker 4 (14:36):
Tonight's got a nice little run here. Taylor Swift in attendance,
as we saw repeatedly in timelines and as part of
the telecast. But yeah, he's up near one hundred. Now, yeah,
get thirteen for Ninetyay, move those chains.
Speaker 1 (14:53):
Oh, show again. We'll bring update on this game again.
Chiefs are driving touchdown wins the game in the rain
for Kansas City. Now, as I said, hey, Baker Mayfield,
try to make a run, get back in here, maybe
getting the on the short list of NFL MVP candidates
because he's playing terrific and now they've hit the skids
a little bit. But a guy I never thought I
(15:14):
would say at this point, right now, I'm pretty sure
he's the MVP of the NFL. He's a guy that
had this play yesterday.
Speaker 3 (15:23):
Has time allow kings Barkley out of the backfield.
Speaker 1 (15:26):
Barkley slips two tackles and picks up the first time, slipping.
Speaker 3 (15:30):
Up in the air to the thirty a gate of
fourteen for Barkley with.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
Some nifty moves along the way.
Speaker 1 (15:38):
Was that CBS Sports on the call, Yes, that the
play where Charles Barkley evaded a tackler with his back.
Speaker 3 (15:45):
Joe, What did I say, Charles, bar.
Speaker 4 (15:48):
Charles, that was a lot of ass getting in the air.
Speaker 1 (15:51):
Charles is never getting that high. He's he never got
that high, not even when he was playing, not even
in nineteen in the nineties, was Charles Barkley getting that high.
Saquon Barkley with an amazing another amazing play in a
season that seems to be.
Speaker 3 (16:06):
Full of them.
Speaker 1 (16:07):
And look, you know me, I was not the biggest
Saquon Barkley fan that he had kind of gone the
way he did as much as he could with the Giants,
signs with the Eagles in the offseason. But right now
I know that that Jamier Gibbs, I'll tell you he's
the best running back in the NFL, and all the
headlines in a great season from Derrick Henry who was
doing phenomenal stuff. But you're also playing with the best
(16:28):
quarterback in the game right now, which is Lamar Jackson.
But Philadelphia is six and two, and Jalen Hurts has
been serviceable. Like he's been good, he hasn't been the
Jalen Hurts of the last couple of years.
Speaker 3 (16:39):
Everything they have.
Speaker 1 (16:40):
Done seems to gel and stem from what Saquon Barkley
gives them offensively, and he has had an incredible season
last couple of weeks. The last four weeks have all
been wins for Philadelphia. He's well over one hundred yards
in these games. He's got nearly one thousand yards rushing,
already six touch downs on the ground, catching passes. You
(17:02):
heard there, He's a kind of a thread out of
the backfield too. He's catching like three or four passes
a game. I don't know that anybody has had the
impact on a team bigger than what Barkley is doing
for an.
Speaker 3 (17:13):
Eagles team that so often that not what do I say?
Speaker 1 (17:17):
They always look like they're one step away from disaster.
They are the one foot on the banana peel. This
is gonna be awful for for for Philadelphia. Nick Sirianni
is on his way out. They still don't trust him.
And yet somehow everything they do seems to to generate
back to what Saquon Barkley is giving them in games.
And he has been phenomenal. He's had three games now
(17:39):
over one hundred and forty yards rushing. I mean, he's
doing everything for them. All these other teams, I could
tell you, Hey, would the Ravens be winning like this
without Derek Henry?
Speaker 5 (17:48):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (17:49):
Probably maybe they lose one more game, but they still
win like this with that.
Speaker 1 (17:52):
But you look at you look at this team without
Saquon Barkley, what are they doing?
Speaker 3 (17:57):
Like?
Speaker 1 (17:57):
What are the what really are the Eagles doing? What's
their record? Are they even five hundred? Because he bails
them out of so many situations they have trouble moving
the football, Get the ball to Saquon. He brings that intangibleness,
that new bit of energy to a team that needed
a new bit of energy because coming into this year,
we knew the Sirianni Hurts dynamic was not great, and
(18:20):
it's been basically we're bringing back the same team as
last year because we had all these guys and we
thought they were gonna be terrific, and all of a
sudden we got problems. We got problems in the locker room,
we got problem with guys getting along. But here comes
a new guy, and here comes a really talented guy
who's come in has been a team first guy who
has put the team on his shoulders. He's a guy
there rallying around. He is the center of everything they
(18:41):
have going on right now in Philadelphia. And if I
was voting MVP in the NFL right now, I'd vote
for Saquon Barkley.
Speaker 3 (18:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (18:47):
A couple of things out of it, you know. First off,
you know, Barclay's always been a guy pretty good in
the forties and fifties in terms of reception. So he's
halfway home, midway through the season, and he's had nivid,
had really had to lean on him because they haven't
had the healthy wide receiving corp as a whole, right,
goddards miss time, Smith's miss time. Aj Brown missing time,
leaves the game early again yesterday, but they have Sirianni's
(19:10):
seat is still on the warmer man like that's that's
like the you know, cafeteria food that's been sitting under
that heat lamp for a while. Because even in yesterday's game,
they get out to another big lead, almost give it away.
So you know, he's a guy that certainly Saquan is
gonna be getting a bigger Christmas gift if this keeps
rolling on, because he's gonna save Nick Serry Sirianni's bacon,
(19:34):
as it were. The other part to it is, let
me give you the odds as it stands, Josh Allen,
Lamar Jackson both plus two to eighty. Right now, if
you wanted to go place that wager on Saquon Barkley,
you know what, you get him.
Speaker 2 (19:46):
At one hundred to one.
Speaker 4 (19:52):
How about that? You got goff Mahomes, Daniels, Jalen Hurts
at fifteen to one, Joe Burrow back in the mix
at nineteen to one, Purdy and Stroud and a cast
of others. Justin Herbert at sixty six to one. Maybe
you hang a stare on that for the second half
of the year. But Barkley coming in at one hundred
to one.
Speaker 1 (20:11):
Not the Chargers defense, which may be the best defense
in the NFL, but Justin Herbert.
Speaker 3 (20:15):
Okay, let's wait on that a little bit.
Speaker 4 (20:18):
But who gets the credit if they go on a
big run in the second half, especially if he's averaging
two ninety a game. Jason's just mad that Herbert's way
better than Aaron Rodgers. Well, Iron Rodgers is at one
hundred one, one hundred thousand to one.
Speaker 1 (20:31):
Stop just one hundred to one. He's actually behind Boltman.
Boltman is actually ninety to one. So then you have
Aeron robberts Man.
Speaker 4 (20:39):
What casino are you gambling at?
Speaker 3 (20:42):
Boltman Casinos?
Speaker 4 (20:45):
He has opened his own That's why he's been out
of the limelight. He was hanging out with Fireman Head.
No Head needs to be back in the press.
Speaker 3 (20:52):
Go would just be he has a pop up.
Speaker 1 (20:54):
You just go and you he dresses Boltman and he
says boat Man, and you tell him what you want
to bet, and you get he writes it out, gives
you back.
Speaker 4 (21:00):
How often how often was Boltman confused from Mac Tonight?
Speaker 1 (21:05):
Oh yeah, sure, Well when he starts singing, you know
it's not Mac Tonight.
Speaker 4 (21:09):
Okay, yeah, hey sing you're bolt Man. Okay, got it,
all right, where's your piano? I understand, where's your piano.
It's it's Dylan McDermot dermot mulroney. Okay, I understand. Okay,
now I got I got the proof.
Speaker 3 (21:20):
I know you. Yes, you were on the practice. Okay,
that's you. Right, great, you're a Boltmann.
Speaker 4 (21:24):
Boatman wants to party death.
Speaker 3 (21:26):
Now I'll tell you.
Speaker 1 (21:27):
Barkley is having an unbelievable I never thought i'd say it.
But the center of everything they have going on there
on and off the field, intangible wise, Well, he's a
guy they rally around, they love him.
Speaker 4 (21:38):
He's exactly what they need. But you're st right now. Yeah,
but your saltiness wasn't with him. I mean it was
the residual fact that the giants took him second overall. Oh,
just how they spoke about him that this is a
generational guy, and you got.
Speaker 2 (21:55):
The hell out of it.
Speaker 4 (21:56):
When you're drafting a running back number two and fell
that guy's gotta be a combination of brown Sayers, Peyton
and Barry Sanders. You kidding me, he's a generational running back. Okay, dude,
we use that word way too much. I want that
word band from any draft analysis because they can't be
(22:17):
a generational guy.
Speaker 3 (22:18):
Four of them.
Speaker 1 (22:19):
Every years he's been in the league.
Speaker 3 (22:22):
Now this is a seventh year.
Speaker 4 (22:24):
He has had three real He's like, all right, he's
had two fantastic years in the league, and now this
is his third where he god looks like he might
be even have his best year at the age.
Speaker 3 (22:34):
Of twenty seven.
Speaker 1 (22:35):
All his other years he was hurt or he was Okay, look,
I mean that's say go on, Barkley was and the
way the Giants were so they were just so snooty
about yes, oh we have Berkley and Daniel Jones, We're
gonna be good for years.
Speaker 3 (22:49):
Yeah, how did that work out for you?
Speaker 4 (22:50):
Dave Edelman Edleman, see how the Jets fan in him
came out right there? That was complete Jets fan lashing out.
Speaker 3 (22:58):
How'd that work out.
Speaker 4 (22:59):
No, no, no, I'm just quoting Dave get when he
says we had to trade up Daniel Jones in a
perfect role is and play for three years now.
Speaker 1 (23:05):
See that's a great thing, Dave Getlan. When they drafted
Daniel Jones into perfect world. He doesn't play for three years, okay,
meaning that if that was the case, he'd just be
starting to play now and his career is done.
Speaker 3 (23:16):
Just think about it.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
Think about it.
Speaker 4 (23:17):
But also Gettleman Shane like, we can take them, line
them up with the Bears and like the Raiders and
three or four other teams every the cycle continues, will
that circle be unbroken? Let's all have a sing along.
Speaker 3 (23:32):
Just think of Saquon Barkley MVP.
Speaker 1 (23:35):
However, there may be a new leader in the pack
for MVP. Maybe it's Taylor Swift, Maybe it's Travis Kelcey,
Maybe it's somebody else.
Speaker 4 (23:44):
Maybe it's someone who caught a game winning touchdown between
the Chiefs and the Buccaneers to end the game. Maybebe
let's find it all about that and Steve de Seger
has it over at Arrowhead.
Speaker 3 (23:55):
How did it finish? Stevo in the rain? Thank you, yes,
thank you Kansas.
Speaker 4 (24:01):
City, much like in the Much like years ago in
the Tour de Frands, it finished Miguel in Durrain or
the Chiefs.
Speaker 3 (24:11):
In Kansas City.
Speaker 5 (24:12):
Going back a while for that, back when people in
this country used to watch the Tour. The Chiefs are
eight and oh. In overtime they beat Tampa Bay thirty
to twenty four. Patrick Mahomes three touchdown passes, two in
the fourth quarter. Oh whatever, Kareem Hunt a touchdown run.
They weren't running the ball in the first half. Game
winning touchdown run for Hunt, and he finished with twenty
(24:35):
seven carries one hundred and six yards and quite contributions
from Travis Kelcey and DeAndre Hopkins. Hopkins two tds. Kelsey
fourteen catches one hundred yards. Three receivers out for Tampa
Bay wide receivers Mike Evans, Jaylen mcmill and Chris Godwin
is on ir the tight end. Kate out and had
eight catches in the lost seventy seven yards and a touchdown.
(24:57):
Casey still undefeated. The Saints fire head coach Dennis Allen.
Quarterback Dak Prescott of Dallas is expected to miss multiple
weeks with his hamstring injury. Suffered yesterday. Running back of
the forty nine ers, Christian McCaffrey, returned to practice for
the first time in nearly two months after an achilles injury.
Everybody's playing in the NBA tonight fifteen games, as the
league is off tomorrow due to Election Day. The Tampa
(25:21):
the at Portland Trailblazers are leading about two minutes to go.
At New Orleans, it's one thirteen to ninety five, despite
twenty seven points from Brandon ingram Syon Williamson now with
a sore hamstring and thigh, the Pacers lead one oh
two ninety nine. At Dallas with ten minutes to go.
Luka Donzig twenty nine points twelve assists so far for
the MAVs. Raptors are leading at Denver late third quarter,
(25:44):
eighty seven to eighty two. The Sixers do have Paul
George tonight, and they're winning at Phoenix seventy two to
sixty nine Phoenix five and one that game's third quarter.
The Clippers are at home, have yet to win in
their new home, and they're losing at halftime tonight to
the Spurs forty eight San Antonio Is. Spurs coach Greg
Popovich is out indefinitely due to illness. Already wins for
(26:07):
Oklahoma City, which is six and oho, and Minnesota and
Houston each got home wins. Roade victories for Sacramento on
a last second jumper and Utah which was oh and six.
We've got to win at Chicago, Brooklyn and Boston with wins,
Golden State and Detroit with victories. Pistons beat the Lakers
one fifteen, one oh three, Cad Cunningham a triple double,
and Cleveland is eight and oh after beating Milwaukee, won
(26:29):
sixteen to one fourteen. The bucksianis Antennacumpo was out with
a strained deductor. To college basketball, yes men's college hoops
Number one Kansas whipped Howard. Number nineteen Texas is playing
in Las Vegas tonight about ten minutes to go. Ohio
State leads the Longhorns fifty four to forty nine. UCF
beat number thirteen Texas, A and M. In women's basketball
(26:52):
in Vegas, number one South Carolina came from behind to
beat Michigan sixty eight sixty two. And there were two
games in Paris today and women's who top twenty matchups.
USC beat Old Miss and then UCLA beat Louisville. Just
two NHL games tonight la a three nothing win at Nashville.
New Jersey won three to nothing at Edmonton. And I
(27:12):
must mention that we did have our colleague Doud Gottlieb
actually involved in college hoops, so on the sidelines as
a head coach tonight's they were in action.
Speaker 3 (27:22):
He played as Alma Monter. He played Oklahoma State.
Speaker 5 (27:24):
Town at Oklahoma State and believe it or not, only
down one at the half, but Oklahoma State beat Green
Bay eighty nine seventy six.
Speaker 3 (27:31):
Back to you, Thank you, STEVEO.
Speaker 1 (27:34):
The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmon, Lifrothtyreck dot Com Studios. Okay,
now that it's over, we can get into this. The
Chiefs beat the Bucks thirty to twenty four in overtime.
It comes down to the end. The Bucks drive, They
score a touchdown with eighteen seconds left to go, and
they kicked the extra point to tie the game. Okay,
(27:56):
let's see how this game goes. Because I didn't like
that decision. I don't know how much much they didn't
talk about going for two and they should have. Over
time comes, the Chiefs don't give the ball back. They
drive right down the field and score a touchdown. We
have seen this. We saw the rule change with this
whole thing because every whoh Josh Allen didn't get the
ball back in that playoff game a few years ago,
(28:18):
and Mahomes drives the Chiefs down, Kareem Hunt goes in
for a touchdown. The Chiefs win thirty to twenty four.
The Buccaneers don't get the football. Here's why I'm shocked
and and I'm stunned that the Bucks didn't go for two.
You score a touchdown, you're on the road, right, and
it's raining, and you have one play from the two
yard line. You have a play that should be able
to get you two yards, right, you should have a.
Speaker 4 (28:39):
Play defense on the field a ton in the second half.
Speaker 1 (28:42):
Yeah, outside of that, you're gonna kick the extra point.
Speaker 3 (28:45):
And here's the thing.
Speaker 1 (28:47):
You're gonna kick the ball off to the Chiefs, who
are gonna take over from their own thirty yard line.
Eighteen seconds, as we have seen, is plenty of time
for or sorry, but twenty seven seconds when they get
the ball back, there's plenty of time for the Chiefs
to get down the field into field goal position.
Speaker 3 (29:05):
Right.
Speaker 1 (29:05):
I was suck with the number, because that's what it
was when they gave the ball back to the Bills.
Gave it back to them, and they force overtime in
that great game. But twenty seven seconds they're gonna have
the ball the thirty yard line. They have all their timeouts,
two quick plays. We've seen the Chiefs do this so often.
They're gonna get into field goal range. You know, Harrison
Butker at home, even in the rain, can hit from
nearly sixty like, you know, you're giving them the ball
(29:26):
back with a chance to win the game. So if
you're gonna give them a chance to win the game,
have the lead, right, have the lead, and then you
get to overtime and you don't win the toss and
what happens. Mahomes takes them down the field and you
don't see the football. How many times have we seen that? Right,
how many times have we seen the Chiefs win just
like that, where Mahomes with the ball or Brady Like,
(29:46):
you have to start thinking about games against Mahomes differently
in the end, strategy wise, and go really against the
green because in the end of the game, it's like, okay,
this is not where all right, Hey, we got Russell
Wilson in overtime, or even Aaron Rodgers or or most
anybody else in the NFL. Patrick Mahomes, it's different. You
have a chance for one play to win the game.
(30:08):
If you get it, great you should. If not, all right, then,
but you're gonna put yourself in a spot where you
may even get the ball back. You have one play
from the two yard line. I think you would probably
put the ball in the hands of your offense who
would just move the ball down the.
Speaker 3 (30:19):
Field, get hot and make that play.
Speaker 1 (30:22):
But instead you gave the ball back to the Chiefs,
knowing you were giving it back to them with enough
time to get down the field for a field goal,
or if not, if you don't win the toss in overtime,
you might not see the football. Because we've seen Mahomes
do this. It's different when it's Mahomes and Brady and
the elite of the elite quarterbacks.
Speaker 3 (30:39):
In the league.
Speaker 1 (30:40):
We've seen them do this time and again, and you
knew that if you didn't see the football, you might
not get it at all. And that's exactly how it
turned out. I hope there was at least a conversation.
I hope there was some sort of discussion should we
go for two? Maybe we couldn't. One reason they can't
because I'll tell you I was first guessing that at
the time, where I'm like, boy, we've seen this. We've
(31:01):
seen the Chiefs pull this out all the time that
you know, they're so comfortable in games like this. You're
on the road, desperate for a win, and instead you
played it safe. You kicked the extra point, and you
gave them two chances to win the game, to beat you,
and the second time they won. It's the old adage
of you don't want to give a good team too
many chances to beat you, because they'll do it.
Speaker 3 (31:19):
And look at that.
Speaker 1 (31:20):
That's exactly what happened tonight, and the Bucks didn't go
and didn't get a chance to win the game.
Speaker 3 (31:24):
This is a bad decision by the Bucks.
Speaker 1 (31:27):
I really hope they thought about We got some kind
of answer from Todd Bowles, but I don't think we
are well.
Speaker 4 (31:31):
I mean, he'll get asked about if frostburing you had
something you wanted to add to this. Okay, get a
little bit, a little bit of time left to you know,
up trying to mind the clock, do all that fun stuff.
But with Todd Bowles. The fact that Atlanta is suddenly
on fire with Kirk Cousins seems to be in the
back of your head. But here you got to coach
(31:52):
the game. For the game to win, you play to win, right.
If Travis Kelcey comes down with that ball that ends
up nearly being picked off the ti by Winfield, but
it was a catchable ball. He gets that ball, They're
beyond midfield and they're starting to get into Butcker's range
because they showed the quick you know, montage of the pregame.
He was hitting from sixty so it was one more
play to the outer part of the field. I think
(32:14):
they still had a timeout that you know, you had
an opportunity, you know, for Butcker to come out and
potentially kick a field goal, like just the eighteen seconds
let alone again overtimes, you know, our twenty seven as
you said, let's do the multiples of nine while we're
at it. But yeah, no, guts, no glory, man. Here
was your opportunity to stick them at home, and you
(32:39):
let them off the hook. Dennis Green, the late great
Dennis Green, would be incensed you let him off the hook.
Speaker 1 (32:45):
I mean, the only thing I could say is at
least the referees that make a bad passinger for its
call or non call on you.
Speaker 4 (32:50):
I mean that's what they may have used a double
sided coin. Now that Now there's a twist.
Speaker 3 (32:59):
What do you want? Heads?
Speaker 4 (33:00):
But show me the other side? No, trust me, it's tails,
but I want to see it. No, no, no, it's
head tried. It's head to headtails.
Speaker 3 (33:05):
All right, very good. There you go up in the
air and it's heads. Oh sorry about that, call it
in the airheads? Sorry, can't call heads? What do you mean?
Can't call heads? Why not call it a tails?
Speaker 5 (33:15):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (33:15):
Sorry, it's heads.
Speaker 1 (33:16):
Chiefs get the football. Congratulations, this is and this is
how the Chiefs do. I really, I don't understand how
there wasn't more of a conversation about going for.
Speaker 3 (33:28):
Two a year because.
Speaker 1 (33:31):
It's first decimate, it's first.
Speaker 4 (33:34):
Why see he's not far enough removed from the Jets.
It takes two or three teams. Haven't we learned this?
Speaker 3 (33:40):
By now?
Speaker 1 (33:41):
Exit out about a Fresca exit Swalling Dome The Jason
Smith Show with my best friend Mike Carmen. We have
more from the NFL coming up next, including more breakdown
of that thrilling ending we saw between the Chiefs and
the Buccaneers. Just because the game had a thrilling ending,
does that mean it was great?
Speaker 3 (33:57):
That's next, Jason to Mike Fox.
Speaker 2 (34:00):
You are to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 1 (34:07):
Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon Live from the Tirack dot Com Studios.
The Chiefs beat the Bucks in overtime thirty to twenty four.
Speaker 3 (34:19):
They win the toss to open overtime.
Speaker 1 (34:21):
They go down the field, Kareem Hunt goes in from
four yards out and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers do not
see the football and lose and fall to four and five.
Speaker 4 (34:32):
One of my favorite quotes come from the Roman poet
Marshall quote, You'll get no Laurel crown for outrunning a
burrow unquote?
Speaker 3 (34:42):
Is that a real buy?
Speaker 4 (34:43):
It is a real quote?
Speaker 3 (34:44):
Is that Marshall Mathers? I think that's eminem.
Speaker 4 (34:46):
It would be cool if he repurposed it for the
new millennium, but he has nine.
Speaker 1 (34:51):
But let me tell you a couple of things that
are just incredibly frustrating about this right Todd Bowles has
just spoken about why he didn't go for two at
the end of reg regulation, and if I was mad
at him before, I'm even more mad at him now
now right, you're gonna hear from Todd Bowles coming up
in about ten mess. I'm telling you if I wasn't
mad at him a few minutes ago, saying, dude, how
(35:12):
do you not go go for two?
Speaker 3 (35:13):
At the end of regulation?
Speaker 1 (35:14):
You're scored in the last minute, you're giving the ball
back to the Chiefs with enough time for them to
kick a field goal. And if Travis Kelcey holds onto
that pass and near the end of regulation, you're kicking
a field goal, and then you don't get the football
and you lose a game. Wow, I'll tell you what
he just said. I'm even more mad than I was.
Speaker 4 (35:31):
I was confident we were gonna win coin toss, but
I had my full on breaking near minding powers from
Anchorman two, working hard.
Speaker 3 (35:40):
What do you want me to say? Baker kept saying, head,
it's gonna be heads heads heads heads. It wasn't. It
was tails lost.
Speaker 1 (35:45):
But let's give a couple of minutes here a credit
to the Chiefs, because this entire season. I don't want
to say I've talked bad about the Chiefs, but they're
not the team they were. Right, They're not the team
they were the last few years. They're not this electric,
up and down on the field team anymore. They've turned
into the Patriots of the two thousands and early teams.
Congratulations to everybody who took that take over the last
(36:07):
week or so. We told you this like three or
four weeks ago, like a month ago. That's why we
say ahead of the curve, right, And I said, this
is kind of who they are. They're another great team
with a clutch quarterback and a really good defense. They
don't have the playmakers they do, and they're finding ways
to win, and eventually that's gonna come up empty. But
when you win games like this, and you win it
with a certain style, I gotta give you credit because
(36:29):
this tonight was every Chiefs game for the last eighteen months.
Speaker 3 (36:33):
Right.
Speaker 1 (36:33):
They became a new team in the beginning of last year,
when it was we don't have the money for a
lot of guys, we have to kind of go bargain
basement for wide receivers. We're paying Patrick Mahomes a lot
of money. We just can't do it how we used to.
We have to build the team differently, and every game
is the same. They play a team that's not bad,
and through two and a half or three quarters, it
(36:54):
looks like, oh, they're gonna get the Chiefs today. Our
Chiefs are not playing well, and boy, they're having trouble
moving the football. I don't understand, and that they're down
by four, they're down by a touchdown. And then the
end of the third quarter comes and the fourth quarter hits,
and all of a sudden, the Chiefs can do no
wrong and they make all the right plays, they make
all the clutch plays, and the other team doesn't make
(37:14):
nearly enough. And tonight was exactly that same way. The
Bucks were playing better football than them. Through three quarters,
they had a touchdown lead. In the rain of what happened,
the Chiefs went down the field twice and scored take
a touchdown lead.
Speaker 3 (37:27):
It took a big.
Speaker 1 (37:28):
Drive by the Bucks just to tie the game to
send the overtime, but by that point the Chiefs had
had control of the game offensively. This is a team
that for three quarters it was boy, they're having trouble,
and Patrick Mahomes is limping around to what's going on,
and then when the fourth quarter hits, they just become
somebody different and they make every single play. I mean,
it is it's like watching the Patriots during their dynasty
(37:50):
of in the fourth quarter, are they really going to
give it up here? Are they really gonna not get
it done? And the very few times Brady didn't get
in the end zone win a game, it's like, whoa
out of that appen?
Speaker 3 (38:00):
I don't understand. And it's the same thing with the Chiefs.
Speaker 1 (38:03):
If the Chiefs get beat, it's well, I don't understand
how to Mahomes not get in the end to what
were those plays about?
Speaker 3 (38:08):
That's kind of the level of fourth quarter play the Chiefs.
Speaker 1 (38:11):
Have right now, is that it's an unbelievable confidence that
we are going to make all the plays offensively and defensively.
Not just Mahomes, but we have the best clutch quarterback
in the game. And you see what he does in
the fourth quarter of games, and you can tell, no
matter what kind of stats other guys are putting up,
Mahomes is still so far and away the best quarterback.
It's just amazing what he does in the fourth quarter
of games. And this is how every game goes and
(38:33):
the Chiefs pull it out like this every single time.
Speaker 4 (38:36):
No, you know, I always dig the You know, we
can go back to the history of the NFL and
you know, go to the Brady thing. We've talked a
lot about how unbelievable it is that Gronk and Kelsey
a little bit of CD lamb. Somehow they're the only option.
Yet they're wide open. All tonight you saw DeAndre Hopkins
step forward for the Chiefs and all now you have
(38:58):
another problem. You let him off though, But we like
grabbing our movie in pop culture references. We just celebrated,
commemorated ate a lot of candy during the Halloween season.
By the way, check out your local stores like seventy
percent off if you need more chocolate. But it's you know,
you don't turn your back on the villain, right because
he's gonna sit back up and he's gonna be right
(39:19):
back at you. Same thing here. You got the Chiefs,
you got him on the ropes. You gotta land the
knockout punch because they're coming back every damn time.
Speaker 1 (39:29):
I mean, that's why it's why you go for two
at the end of regulation. It's why you go for
two and Mahomes. I mean, it's just incredibly impressive to
see him become this guy. Way, I'm not that guy
throwing up and down the fielding more, not because he can't,
but because, hey, I don't have the players around me
like I used to. It's just we're just not built
that way anymore. And yes, they're waiting for Isaiah Pacheco
to come back eventually at some point. You think Hollywood
(39:49):
Brown is gonna play for them at some point next year,
whatever it is. But this is just in the fourth quarter.
He finds a way all the bleeping time, like it's
it's it's it's Brady esque a new level. I think
we get a Brady esca, a new level. This soon
after Brady retired, exit out about a Fresca exit swollen
dome coming up next.
Speaker 4 (40:08):
All you hear from Todd Bowles why I'm more mad
at him now than I was twenty minutes ago.
Speaker 3 (40:13):
This is Fox
