a big night in the NBA where we're uh, we're
gonna Chase, got a couple of big hot takes on
the Warrior Celtic game. I told you this last night,
and it's got me thinking about it with Tyshirt playing
the Todd Bowles right because you know Ty Shirt has
a Todd Bowles impression. I didn't really, I didn't see
that on my Bengo card for twenty twenty four. I
(01:11):
didn't write that. That a Todd Bowles. Yeah, I have
a Todd Bowles impressions. Yeah, I mean you've got some
random ones in your bag?
Speaker 3 (01:19):
Now?
Speaker 1 (01:19):
And again, who was it, Brad Childress? Bradshall we have
to play a better defense? Yeah? No, no, I but
like I've been working on my Troy Aikman. But it's
but the thing is, it's more conceptual of what he
does than it is. I sound like concept No, No,
it's more like art. Yes, exactly, this is more like
(01:42):
and they have to like strike some random post. But
like when you go to a talent showcase and and
oh hey hey that was a great rendition of the
Merry Murderers. Is of the Cook County Clink. Now here's
an interpretive dance set to The Love Bizarre by Chila
E twelve minutes long. Here we go? Uh? Is that
you know the because I talk to the Troyigman. Oh
you Troigman, troimuck? Okay, okay that watch watch them them
(02:04):
do the game together, Joe Buck and Troy Aikman, right,
and Troy Aikman always does this. Joe Buck always throws
it to Troy, but after a play is over by
pointing something out, and Troy always agrees with him and
then makes his point. Like Joe Buck would say, oh,
and what to pass by Aaron Rodgers, Troy, he threw
right through that tight window to get that ball out
(02:25):
there to Garrett Wilson, and Troy goes, well, he did,
and uh, and then he goes into his point. No
matter what Joe Buck says, Troy Aikman agrees with him.
Speaker 4 (02:33):
No, but but that's that style and launching into a point.
I've worked with a lot of ex football players. Guess what,
but that is a pretty but is point one that
you get taught in need post football world.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
But I like the fact that Troy is still at
this way feels the need to Yeah, I agree with you, Joe.
Like Joe could say, hey, look at that those fans
right there. That guy was making out with a girl
on his right, then he was making out with a
girl on his left. I don't think she knows about that, Troy. Yeah,
well she doesn't. And uh, I just want like, that's
that's what you are.
Speaker 4 (03:04):
I mean, that's a relationship of twenty years. Wait, come on,
I have to agree with Joe.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
Whatever Joe Bug says, look at the grass on this field, Troy,
it is really green. Well it is, and and when
you look at it everything it doesn't matter what he says.
Speaker 4 (03:16):
But outside of you know, Joe and whether he shows
up on time or not, which evidently was a big
deal in terms of how they do their their rallying
towards the broadcast booth. You know, I was the Relationship Works.
I was late today, Troy, Well, you were by a
few minutes. And uh, it's like he brought that up
on a podcast. I'm like, that's an interesting you a
random thing out of your twenty plus years together.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
But hey, just watch like picking up the Tony romo
that I have over the last few years, and just
the Troy Iman. He can't just say, boy would have
passed by Aaron Rodgers and Rogers and and Troy just
goes what Aaron Rodgers does? Here is this right? Which
is what? Which is what uh? Greg Olsen does all
the time. Like there there's no breath at all between
Adam and mean talking and Greg will and Greg Olson
(04:00):
saying it. Oh, it's a difference of new guys. First down,
Dak Prescott scrambled to the first time. Well what he
does here is old. There's no you know, there's no breath.
There's no way, there's no such thing as letting the
game breathe here, I know, I go right in there.
No new guy versus where Troy And yeah, yeah I got,
I got. You don't have to agree with that, he's
(04:21):
just saying, but he watched her agree with that. Hey,
you know, no more position in the NFL than a
tight end, right Troy? Yeah you know you're right, Joe?
And uh but whatever he said, Wait, I was a quarterback.
What he's talking about?
Speaker 5 (04:32):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (04:33):
Everything he just happened.
Speaker 4 (04:34):
To like the and Paul ellery just tell him Hawks, Yeah, Paul,
you chgo Troy.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
He just throws this one up for grabs. Well you
know he does, and he gets lucky when it comes down. Everything.
There's no trust me watch and if you wanted to
never watch it the same again, some sort of drinking game.
And not that I'm condoning it, but he wanted to
play some sort of game where every time Troy agreed
with Joe before he makes up forget it.
Speaker 4 (05:02):
If you want to do that Monday night before we
come on air. You'll be I'll be done. We'll we'll
meet up and see what the second half holds for us.
I can't, I'll be done. We might want to drink.
What's the Monday night game? Now, it doesn't matter what
it is, I'll just say it. The game itself might
cause you to drink. Uh so well, No, usually it's
Thursday night. Monday Night's usually okay, Thursday night as well.
And then we have that Gem out in Germany this week, shuret.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
Hey, man, hey, we're gonna send the Giants out there,
and the Plants are oh wait what yeah? Sorry. Initially
we're gonna send the Cowboys and the Steelers. We decided
Giants Panthers is a better game to send the Actually,
Monday is Miami here in Los Angeles to take on
the Rams. How about that? I'll again Rams a lot
offense right there. Yeah, Now, tonight fifty and a half
(05:45):
tonight in the NBA. Everybody playing tonight or had the
night off last night for Election Day. They all played
the night before and the marquee game of the night.
All of a sudden, people are feeling great about the
Golden State Warriors. They go into Boston in the Jason
Tatum Steve Revenge game, where I thought Jason Tatum would
come out and take the first twenty five shots and
just start gapping like he's Devincenzo and Tibbs in the preseason.
(06:08):
I can't finish right, Look at that. Look at that. Now,
it was a pretty good game for Tatum. He goes
for thirty two, but not enough. The Celtics suffer their
second loss of the season. The Warriors improve to seven
and one with a one eighteen one to twelve win.
Steph Curry, of course leading the way with twenty seven
budd he Healed had sixteen. Off the bench, he gets
(06:30):
had twenty two. And I know there's this belief now
to believe in the Warriors right here they come. Look
at them. They figured things out their back X Y
and Z. Now, I'm gonna give them credit before I say,
come on, don't be stupid. WHOA well, what come on?
Speaker 4 (06:47):
You were big bodagging it up and then they.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
Were gassed in the three minutes. We'll get to the Knicks.
The Knicks are the exact opposite of the war The
Knicks are gonna try to play with all five of
their starters forty eight minutes to night. No, the Warriors
are having a great star right now. And the big
key is is that Steve Kerr is I say he's
playing everybody? You got, No, he's literally playing everybody. He
had six guys off the bench tonight, none of them
(07:10):
had less than fourteen minutes, right, So you are coming
with an eleven man rotation of some kind right now.
That is working and you didn't even have buttons. That's great. No, yeah,
right so, and that's working and that's been working for
because that's keeping everybody's minutes down. You know, Steph Curry
played thirty four tonight. Okay, Steph's gonna play those minutes.
But everybody's minutes are down, and you know Draymond's down
(07:31):
to thirty minutes. And it's great right now. And it's
what you have to do the beginning of the season.
And what else were you gonna do? Right because you're
the Warriors. You were at WIT's end. It was look,
the dynasty's over. What are we gonna do? How to
win games? Let's commit to doing this and playing a
bunch of guys early and see how it goes. And
it's going really well. They're getting a lot of offensive
you know, everybody's coming off the bench and they're contributing.
(07:51):
Now the heel is the big guy. Obviously I was
gonna score the most. He had four threes tonight. And
this is gonna be great for a while. And it is.
But then and this is this is the thing with
the NBA and what people don't understand when we talk
about teams and get to the playoffs, and you just
have to get this is that by the time you
get to the playoffs, when you're relying on thirty five
year old players to play a bunch of minutes, it's
(08:13):
not gonna work. It's why, Hey, the Lakers had a
great start to the season. It's awesome. See the guys
playing like this. What kind of energy? What kind of
legs are they gonna have left when you get to
the second round of the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (08:24):
Ain't playing the night. And it's the same thing. And
it's the same thing for the Warriors. It's like you're
still relying on Stephen Draymond to get you through a
really difficult Western Conference. And it's great that you have
this now, and it's great now, I'm not saying it's not.
It's fun, it's awesome, but in the end, when you
get to the playoffs, it's the same. If the playoffs
were cut by a few games and a couple of rounds,
I would say, well, teams of thirty five year olds
(08:46):
are gonna do well, but teams with thirty five year
olds and up don't do well because it's just too
much to make it all the way through to the end.
Look who's winning. Everybody wins on young legs, right, So
the Celtics win on young legs, the Nuggets win on
young legs. Warriors won on young legs for a long
time because they were able to cut minutes down when
guys were in their twenties and early thirties. Now Clay
(09:06):
has gone, Your two best guys are in their mid thirties.
How long is that really gonna go? So it's great
for now, it's great, it's awesome. It's awesome. But the
but the playoffs or the NBA, you kind of can't
escape that. And I feel like when we get to
we go through the season, we get to the playoffs,
like when when when experts and you know, people like
you and I and we talk about this like some
people just want to I want to blow past that.
Oh well look how good that. Yeah they're playing credit,
(09:28):
but but it really counts. And you know, we get
to the playoffs in April. Man, that's that's you got
to be playing when you're thirty five. It doesn't matter
what unless you missed the entire season and you're coming
back then to start playing. Guess what, you're gonna run
out of legs.
Speaker 4 (09:42):
And this is where I wonder work with me on
this working theory in theory. So five and zero, now
on the road, they take down the Celtics in this one. Well,
well they are Joe, you know, Okay, sorry I was
Troy done.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
I'll try, I'll try. Yeah, filled me up. Yeah, well
well I I did.
Speaker 4 (10:00):
And is that you get out and you have these
strong games early that maybe during the course of the
season we unofficially get into load management season. We can't
announce it because you saw what they did to the
Sixers and they became an example and now they're on
watch for the rest of the year.
Speaker 1 (10:20):
But for the Warriors, you get out.
Speaker 4 (10:21):
Everybody's fresh after whatever the offseason, right, they did the
Olympics and they're feeling good.
Speaker 1 (10:26):
The legs are good.
Speaker 4 (10:27):
You got an up depth because you got kaminga coming
off the bench. You got Anderson, you got healed. Like
I said, Potzimski didn't play. But another guy who averages
about ten points a night when he does go ten
and five. So all of that to say that maybe
you blitz it here November and get towards Christmas, see
where you're at, and then maybe you can slough off
(10:48):
a little bit in terms of minutes and minutes management.
And if you drop some games, you're still in a
good position whereby you can make the playoffs. Thereby thereby
allowing Steph and Draymond and the Elder Statesman to be
in shape enough to be ready for the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (11:05):
Well, well they would be, Joe. And now see here's
the thing. And I'm gonna throw at you when I
like your point in theory is because it is a
great point. And it's one of those Hey, if we
do forced load management, and sometime it's a week, sometimes
it's more than it's only gonna take one team to
do it, one team to say, hey, we are gonna
(11:28):
whatever goes on in the standings the next couple of weeks,
So and so is on a force break. Now, the
NBA would be very upset about that, and there would
be a lot of loggerheads on it. But all it
takes is one team. Or you could say, hey, oh,
you know what, someone's got a hamstring.
Speaker 4 (11:40):
Oh yeah, but that's easy, right, he's got to sore back,
he's got a hammy.
Speaker 5 (11:44):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (11:45):
Maybe he takes a dive at the end of the
game into the crowd. It's like, oh, he was hurt.
We got national TV games coming up. No, next game
is week and a half. Great, you're gonna sit now.
What it's gonna take is a team to stick to
that and not go away from it because it's an
idea of its great. But then when the basketball start flying,
you lose it. You get caught up in you know, no,
(12:06):
you got to play it. You have to really commit
to that. And that's the hardest thing to do because
I think a team that's a great idea.
Speaker 5 (12:14):
Great Eddy.
Speaker 1 (12:15):
It's like people who say, oh, ready for my diet,
you are, yes, ready, I'm full right now. I'm gonna
start my diet right now. Okay, at seven fifteen at night,
you just date dinner, yep, start starting the diet right now. Oh,
great idea. Great, yeah, great, great idea. And then you
get to midnight. Oh no, you can't have anything before
you go to bed. Wait what, No, I don't like that. No, No,
I'm gonna have just a little sudden before I go
to bed. Like it sounds great in thear, but then
(12:35):
when you really have to interact and act it, there's
problems and and there there would be problems with that.
And it would take a team that is so secure
standings wise that we know we're gonna make the playoffs.
We don't care about our seed. We have to keep
these players healthy, and if we start losing games, we
have to resist that poll of putting some of putting
(12:57):
our older players in and that's almost impot possible to do.
I don't know one coach it would say, yeah, we
can do. Could a guy in theory like Steve Kerr
do it if they're winning? Yeah, But you know, that's
really difficult to say, yeah, we're gonna lose five or
six games here in a row, and knowing that Steph
or Drake whoever it is, is healthy and could play,
but we really want to sit them down so they
(13:19):
can have stuff going at the end of the season.
That's a tough thing to do. The larger part is
also the Western Conference.
Speaker 4 (13:28):
You're only gonna have one or two teams at least
in theory that slough off. Barring a bunch of injuries
and bad circumstances, it's gonna be very cannibalized for those
seven through ten slots. So unless you're securely in the
top six, you want to leave it to chance that
you know, you only got that one shot and we
get all the eminem you know Montage is going as
(13:51):
you get ready for that one get No, you don't
want that. So yeah, even Steve Kerr as the eggs
on the Boston fans, I don't think he.
Speaker 1 (13:58):
Wants that smoke. No, I know, I don't think he does.
But again, it would be no I it would be
it would be a coach, I don't think so. It
would be a coach who, like I said, but like him,
that would have I have the championships, I have the cachet.
I'm not gonna lose my job if I get questioned
on this. It's okay because I've built up so much
equity with what I've done, and that's really hard to find.
(14:21):
It's really, really hard to find exit out about a
Fresca exit swollen down the Jason Smith Show with my
best friend Mike Carment. But hey, things are great for
Golden Statement and great for the Warriors right now, great
for seven and one, five and zero on the road,
on the road, on the road. kN br I'm ready
for my interview. I'm ready, I'm ready, I'm ready.
Speaker 5 (14:38):
Uh.

Jeff chap Okay, No, you know.
Speaker 1 (17:00):
You know what you get now. You know what you
get now as a result. You know you get because
I because I love you, and I know you get.
You get. How Chris Berman would announce Steve Garvey Steve
Garvey losing in the California Senate race like this is
actually pretty good?
Speaker 2 (17:19):
J Cole?
Speaker 1 (17:20):
No, no, no, You'll love this now, You'll love this.
You get it? Trust me, trust me, trust me? You ready?
How would Chris Berman announce Steve Garvey losing to Adam
Schiff in the race for California.
Speaker 5 (17:30):
Senate has gone down?
Speaker 1 (17:35):
You're ready? Well, Steve. Steve Garvey lopes along to the election,
hoping to rustle up enough votes that he can say
he's from California, Except it's Adam Schiff with the win
and he'll be celebrating with a shot of Jaeger TJ
(17:59):
got admit, that's I got the whole infield in. Come on, man,
don't kid me that. You know that was great and
you're gonna tell your wife died as soon as you
get off the phone. Hey, you know what that lunatic
Jason said, Hey, you right got me for this? Honey. Hey,
here you go. Y Yeah, now you're gonna do You're
gonna sound like the Hamburg going well, I.
Speaker 5 (18:17):
Am somewhere between impressed and I have to say that, yes, okay,
I mean you've got sort of a you got a
hemmy young mean thing.
Speaker 1 (18:29):
No, that's a that's a I'll take just to add
a rim shot to it. And the way you go
get that, that's what passes for a compliment from j
calls like my dad when he got to a restaurant
and you go, Dad, how'd you? He goes, Oh, not bad.
That means it's one of the greatest meals he's ever had.
But he can't say that, how's that?
Speaker 3 (18:43):
Oh not bad?
Speaker 1 (18:44):
Not bad? Oh wow?
Speaker 7 (18:45):
I know Peter, all right, sir, Hey Dad, how's your
Wolfgang Puck Tomahawk's steak.
Speaker 1 (18:55):
Not bad, not bad, No, not bad, It's not bad,
not bad.
Speaker 5 (18:58):
Ye, this bones a little in the way, but it's
a great chop.
Speaker 6 (19:05):
There we go.
Speaker 1 (19:06):
Okay, Well, without knowing, you have dovetailed into our first
topic by using the word bone.
Speaker 5 (19:11):
If you know that or not, but you have, Well,
let's do it. Okay, what do we got? Uh?
Speaker 1 (19:16):
Late reports out of Dallas Dak Prescott dealing with a
partial evulsion of his right hamstring, which means part of
the tendon has pulled away from the Mike Harmon bone.
Speaker 3 (19:27):
Yes, there we go.
Speaker 1 (19:33):
We said this the other night. Here's a hamstring injury.
The Cowboys are done. There's no way we see Dak
Prescott the rest of the series not coming back to
this train wreck's not going to come back when they're
four and ten, and especially after this week.
Speaker 5 (19:44):
After after he said on the after everybody was sinking.
Speaker 1 (19:49):
To him, Yeah, I don't I feel pretty good?
Speaker 2 (19:55):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (19:55):
And karaoke yeah you know.
Speaker 3 (20:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (20:02):
They're all in this year. Yeah, they're they're all in.
It's just that as Derrick Henry, they're so banged up.
I don't feel sorry for him, because why would you.
(20:22):
It's the cowboys. But there is there's something that when
they're so wounded, they're not funny anymore. You know what
I'm saying, like like I need them out there to
be funny, like I need them on that wall. I
really do. And so I want dak plane. I want
this to get worse, you know, because the funny is
(20:45):
only if it gets a whole lot worse and you
watch more shots of Jerry if And the other thing
about it is like, does Jerry really get to fire
McCarthy based on all the injuries that have happened this year,
or does he does he give him a you know,
I you know, I can't see McCarthy surviving, but Jerry
(21:06):
could paint a way of like, oh well, we've got
to give him another year, and we'll get an injection
as like some bee some honey, and we'll rub that honey.
That that that cowboy bee honey was just gonna rub
all that on decks, the hamster.
Speaker 8 (21:21):
What was that the hands?
Speaker 1 (21:23):
It's about time to go to Germany. Get all that
new blood, like all the athletes get you, get all
the old blood out new blood.
Speaker 8 (21:29):
In yet all that.
Speaker 5 (21:31):
Yeah, we'll bring some of that back. We'll mix it
in with the honey.
Speaker 8 (21:34):
We'll rub it all over that and that he'll be fine,
he'll just be to be terrific, you know, and we're
just we'll win the whole thing out right there with
cowboy be honey.
Speaker 5 (21:45):
Try to get something plasma and some of that plasta.
We'll get that plasma stuff over there from your p Yeah.
You know, yo, you do that, you mix that stuff up,
accelerate that stuff a lot, and you know it just
makes it makes the cowboy bes accelerate, makes the cowboys celerate,
and nothing, nothing is faster than accelerated. Cawboy. Let me
just take you that.
Speaker 1 (22:05):
But there's a better story than that, because my first
of all, my impression is better than yours. Secondly, what
I'm gonna do the reason, the reasons. It's my turn
to speak, or I will fire you as a radio host.
Now what the reason?
Speaker 5 (22:21):
Haven't paid me in forty two years? Yeah, I've been
doing this show. Figures, Henny Youngman was current when I
started doing the show, and you still have the pad.
Speaker 1 (22:30):
Hey, it's almost boozing glug time. Come down. You signed
a holiday holiday, you signed a five year three sandwich
deal and you were still old one sandwich. Uh, that's it.
But the reason I got the Mingo kid is because
what I'm gonna do is is get the blood and
plasma from Michael Irvin and kind of switch it up
with Mingo and suddenly he turns into an all pro
and uh, you know, Michael goes and continues to talk.
Speaker 5 (22:53):
But now we have to getting all pro receiver, Mingo
all pro. That's what we're calling Mingo.
Speaker 8 (22:57):
All pro.
Speaker 4 (23:00):
Man.
Speaker 5 (23:00):
This is this is the only seat. And when they're losing,
this is this not it doesn't work as well. Right Like,
when they're miserable and awful, they have to teeter, like
they have to tease you with actually being good, and
then they have to crush the spirits of all their
fans by you know, blowing a big game here and there.
And right now they're just you know, like they're just
(23:21):
a wounded animal on the side of the road. So
you want to pull over, and you want to and
you want to try and save them. But then you realize,
like Jerry is in the car driving already and and
owns the winded me. You're like, dude, take care of
this yourself. This is your this is your problem.
Speaker 4 (23:38):
Well, we referenced Jonathan Mingo. We reference the Cowboys being
all in anything from the trade deadline the last couple
of days. Obviously we saw early moves, but anything the
last twenty four forty eight hours that moved the needle
for you.
Speaker 5 (23:53):
I like Latimore, I mean like Washington's kind of like
they gotta they went in for it and all the way.
Like they didn't do anything crazy because they're not at
the stage to do that, but they went and got
a guy that's a plug and play player who's really
good and maybe enough to get them through that division
and win that division, because you trust Philly. I mean,
(24:16):
the only reason Philly is any good anymore is that
that Siri I decide to be you know, arrogant again, right,
like they decide. It's not because they're actually playing good
football or the design of what they're doing is any good.
It's just like the the overwrought machismo of Sirianni has
taken over and that will call apart soon enough, because
(24:38):
that's what it does. But you know, I like what
Washington did because they're playing well enough to win that division.
They've they've made steady I mean market improvement obviously on
offense because of what you know, because of what the
quarterback can do. But they have made progressive improvement and
(24:59):
I'm talking about progressive ads, but progressive point improvement on defense,
and adding a guy like Lattimore makes the more legitimate
in the way that dan Quinn likes a rempics because
dan Quinn traditionally he's got the horses up front, but
he likes to work the back end of the defense.
Has the back end of the defense be really good
(25:19):
to create time, a little bit more time for the
guys on the front end, and and so a lot
of the more fits into his plan perfectly.
Speaker 1 (25:28):
See now that those are great coaching points you made,
But all I'm thinking of is if you took over
for doctor Rick and those progressive turning into your parents commercials,
I think that'd be pretty good.
Speaker 5 (25:38):
That is such a future for me. We can love those.
I love those. We can't stop you nothing. I take
take take that. You know when he's got the apron
that says, you know what, what is it?
Speaker 6 (25:50):
The grill grill master?
Speaker 3 (25:52):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (25:53):
Yeah, great, guy like take that off. That's me that
just said, that's channeling me.
Speaker 8 (25:57):
Take off the apron.
Speaker 1 (26:00):
But you would you do a football version where it
would be like, we can't stop young quarterbacks from turning
into old quarterbacks. And then you get like you get
like Tua sitting down doing a podcast. No no, Aaron Rodgers,
no no, and he get takes the headphones off and
walks away.
Speaker 5 (26:15):
It could be I could see that, that'd be mean,
that'd be all right.
Speaker 8 (26:19):
I could do that.
Speaker 5 (26:20):
You can negotiate that. No, I don't want to negotiate.
Speaker 1 (26:24):
Anything for me.
Speaker 4 (26:25):
You well, but if you showed up and we did
a spoof of it, you might actually get the sandwich.
Speaker 1 (26:29):
If there's three percent of it in for me as
your agent, I'll get you a really good deal. There
was no part of the sandwich deal for me. So
you got a three year, three sandwich deal.
Speaker 5 (26:37):
Yeah, because you were in the only actually Harmon's the
only ones ever paid.
Speaker 8 (26:41):
And we know that.
Speaker 5 (26:43):
Arman comes through like you're deepo, because I take that back.
You donated to me. You donated the rowing club one time.
Speaker 1 (26:49):
How much money did I donate to your to your
kids rowing club?
Speaker 6 (26:52):
Like to think it was?
Speaker 8 (26:55):
It was?
Speaker 5 (26:55):
It was. I think you were trying to do one hundred,
but you ended up doing it twice and you were
almost wanted to ask for the money back, but.
Speaker 8 (27:02):
Then you're like, I can't get that.
Speaker 1 (27:04):
No, I didn't. I got a nice note from the
rowing coach. I'll say, thank you so much for your
generous donation. I was like, yeah, hey, Jason's a great dude.
I said, I don't know how good a dude you are,
but he says me things about you. So no, it
was great. Hey, ld they name an or after you,
the Jason Smith or. It's with the Jets logo and
a big mac uh.
Speaker 5 (27:25):
All right, so for the slowest boat of the year, it's.
Speaker 1 (27:31):
The boat that will take on water and sink. Oh,
the Jets boat. Yeah, yeah, that's the one. Look today,
Go ahead, Yes, I was gonna ask.
Speaker 5 (27:39):
You what I was I was just thinking about I
was thinking about Giant Tech Carolina and what that does
for marketing football overseas.
Speaker 1 (27:47):
You think that will kill football overseas entirely.
Speaker 5 (27:52):
The Germans are going to get a look at that
and go, what the hell what are we doing?
Speaker 1 (27:57):
Do you think? Do you think in Germany if you
went to Germany right now now, there's signs all over
that say Chiefs Eagles, and then it's just no, no, no, sorry,
but yeah, yeah, no, no, no exactly, it was flex scheduling.
I mean we can actually Giants Panthers. Sorry about that,
we I we just sent the wrong teams are bad?
Good luck?
Speaker 5 (28:15):
Okay, yeah, giants, Giants Panthers. You got Danny Nichols and
Dimes and you got Bryce Young. You know, can I
say mitchet or am I going.
Speaker 8 (28:25):
To get No?
Speaker 1 (28:26):
I think you might. I think you might.
Speaker 6 (28:28):
Yeah, my goodness.
Speaker 5 (28:29):
Yeah, sorry, I won't tell you. I'll say vertically challenged person.
So okay, yeah, that's that's that's not selling football in Europe.
Get Roger on the line, say Roger, no, don't change
that up. Flex that out, like, give them something, give
them something that they can cheer for.
Speaker 1 (28:48):
He's on Twitter at Jason Cole sixty two. That is,
at Jason Cole sixty two NFL Insider, still celebrating the
Dodgers World cow cowboy be honey, don't forget, don't forget that.
Speaker 5 (28:59):
To get the Irvin plasma, the god ele of a
god Mingo drinks Herven's plasma suddenly turns into.
Speaker 1 (29:08):
It all bro.
Speaker 4 (29:09):
See that part of the Marvel universe that might be
is that like the new one? What's that guy's coming out.
Speaker 1 (29:15):
The that what I just said is very Morbius. That's
very Michael Morbius.
Speaker 4 (29:19):
Uh right, yeah, yeah, I forget what the name of
it is, The the Hunter?
Speaker 1 (29:26):
Yeah yeah, yeah? Is it fitting that it? Can we
just go back to being Quicksilver? It's like, did we
know we screwed you? We brought back literally every other
Marvel character except for you. So here now you can
be craving the Hunter. Okay, there you go, and we'll
delay it eighteen months plus. See and people still want
to go. Now, let's find out what's trending in the
wide world of sports. From someone who owns every Spider
(29:49):
Man Craving the Hunter issue really in comic book history?
How about that? It's is that right? No other bags?
Or maybe you got them graded so they're in cattle.
Speaker 6 (30:00):
I did that as well.
Speaker 9 (30:01):
That's all of those things.
Speaker 1 (30:03):
Yeah, I did all of those things.
Speaker 9 (30:06):
I did. Hi, guys, would they say Wednesday?
Speaker 1 (30:10):
Right, it's Paul George returns to l a bait. That's right, Boom,
that would have been me. You actually stood up in
boom when they showed him on the screen. I've been
booing for days. You booed from from from your booth,
correct you. Nobody else could hear him, but was there
trying to do her best. It was like she was
invoking you're any scene from the Mummy, You're ready have
(30:32):
that guttural, but you're in a room by yourself, and
I watched you boob I did like somebody else was there, right, Yeah,
it was just the television.
Speaker 9 (30:41):
Because I, you know, I go in. I go all in, Jason,
That's what I'm saying. You're not gonna fake it.
Speaker 1 (30:47):
So when you watch a horror movie at home, do yell.
Speaker 9 (30:49):
Get out of the house, and I start calling the
person bad words because they're idiots.
Speaker 1 (30:55):
Behind those chaws. Yeah, okay, exactly, you know, I just
I go all in. Yeah, I'm gonna face uh just
like maybe.
Speaker 6 (31:02):
Uh.
Speaker 9 (31:03):
The MAVs aren't faking it right now because they are
just crushing the Bulls, and they have been crushing them
this whole game. They keep extending their lead. One oh
two to seventy six is a score against the Bulls
six minutes left in the game. Luka Doncic twenty seven,
seven rebounds, thirteen assists. The Thunder looks well still There's
still plenty of game left, but the Thunder are undefeated,
trying to stay undefeated. They're beating the Nuggets eighty four
(31:25):
to seventy five, six minutes left in the third quarter.
So again, plenty of game. Nikola Jokic for Denver fourteen points,
seven rebounds, twelve assists. The Heat have taken the lead
over the Suns eighty six to seventy three late in
the third quarter. And here seventy six ers are beating
the Clippers into it Dome twenty six to twenty two.
Late in the first quarter. Paul George has six points,
but Aviatsa Zubots had six points.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
Two go Zoo.
Speaker 9 (31:47):
The Raptors are beating the Kings thirty seven to thirty
early in the second quarter. The games that I've wrapped up,
I don't know if you guys saw Brandon Miller hit
the game winning shot for the Hornets, but they beat
the Pistons one o eight to one oh seven. The
Pace outscored the Magic when eighteen to one eleven. The
Hawks held on to beat the Knicks one twenty one
to one sixteen. Zach Re Sachet the number one pick
(32:08):
thirty three points and seven rebounds.
Speaker 1 (32:10):
Yeah, I know, I was like, oh, that's that guy.
That's that name.
Speaker 9 (32:13):
I didn't know that's how you spell Resawcee.
Speaker 1 (32:15):
He couldn't miss. Hecluded in the final four minutes of
the game, he couldn't miss.
Speaker 9 (32:19):
Yeah, And Karl Anthony Towns had a great game too
for New York thirty four points and sixteen rebounds, but
Resache did not miss.
Speaker 1 (32:25):
I agree with you at the end of there, and
now listen, you will always from now on refer to
Karl Anthony Towns as Big Bodega Oka, big Bodate, big Bodega.
Big Bodega has no other name, Big Bodega, Big Bodega.
Speaker 4 (32:35):
Okay, Yeah, but his shot closed down in the last
couple of minutes. Bodega's never doing it, doesn't That's pretty good.
Speaker 5 (32:42):
I like that. I like that.
Speaker 1 (32:45):
I like that you're gonna shoot me for two minutes.
Speaker 9 (32:49):
The Warriors beat the Celtics went eighteen to one twelve.
Warriors do not have a single turnover in the fourth quarter,
while the Rockets cruise passed, the Spurs went twenty seven
to one hundred, and the Grizzlies outscored the shorthanded Lakers
one thirty one to one fourteen. Jamran just something to
keep an eye on with about five minutes.
Speaker 1 (33:05):
To go on the game.
Speaker 9 (33:06):
He left with the hamstring injury and never came back.
The Cavs are still undefeated. They beat the Pelicans one
thirty one to one twenty two. In hockey, the Oilers
are beating the Golden Knights two to one. Early in
the third period. The Capitals defeated the Predators three to two.
In the Red Wings outscored the Blackhawks forty one. Just
quick here. NFL Week ten starts tomorrow Thursday Night football.
(33:27):
Bengals Ravens Baltimore has ruled out tight end Isaiah Likely
Bengals wide receiver T Higgins, He's listed as doubtful.
Speaker 1 (33:33):

Still working on the global expansion. By the way, if
you say boom fast three times, the Rizzler shows up
at your side, So be careful.
Speaker 8 (34:42):
I did not know that.
Speaker 1 (34:42):
Really, Yeah careful, I just said you. Big justice shows up.
I'm not sure. We have some great audio from the
NBA coming your way in about ten minutes. If you
don't like the New York Knicks, well you're gonna love
what you I will just say that top of the hour, baby,
(35:02):
come on now. But big story out of the NFL
today as Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry was asked
about Deshaun Watson's standing with the franchise. Now we know
he's done for the year, sustaining the season ending achilles
ten and tear in week seven, and who knows if
he's even be ready for the beginning of next year.
And look, we told you how this was gonna end
(35:23):
for Deshaun Watson before this season. He was gonna play,
This was gonna be the final year. The Browns were
gonna be bad, and they would move on from him.
They would find out how to move on from the
money in the offseason. And all the talk you hear
all the time, it's impossible. They can't do it. Look
at what his dead cap is. They can't do it.
They can't do it, And everybody's just insane. Even Berry
(35:47):
today was non committal when he was asked about his standing.
All he would say is, hey, our focus is just
to make sure he gets healthy of not achilles injury.
Everything else we'll deal with at a later moment.
Speaker 4 (35:58):
Did you see the other part of the the Q
and A where they were asking about his involvement in
actually bringing Watson to Cleveland as a guy's like, do
I just say it's all Haslam or do I admit
that I'm the blame here, Because if I admit that
I'm the blame, I'm not getting another job at.
Speaker 1 (36:14):
This I wasn't on any of those phone calls. Oh
you're on every one, Yeah, but not only only as
a I'm sorry, what was the question?
Speaker 4 (36:21):
Yeah, that wasn't even the GM. It's like, I can't
give you that information. You know, I've got to be cagy.
That was like, Oh, you asked directly to the heart
of the matter.
Speaker 1 (36:29):
How dare you. We'll deal with the rest at a
later moment. As long as he gets healthy. He's done.
He's done in Cleveland, simply because it doesn't matter what
his dead cap hit is. The Browns are going to
draft a quarterback this year, doesn't matter. Period ends. It's
already lost, ends everything. It ends everything. Now, what you
(36:51):
have to work out is the money. And we have
seen crazy ass money get worked out. When you think
there's no way the Packers can't trade Aaron Rodgers, I
feel like I'm talking like Kevin Malone from the office.
The Packers can't trade Aaron Rodgers. Oh no, they're too
much money. What happened. Oh, they got that trade because
he is. They got that trade done with the Jets.
Hashtag's charantnicity. They got that trade done with the Jets
(37:12):
pretty good. They will figure out the money, whether it
is money, they pay him out, whatever it's going to be,
and they will move on. He will not be with
the team, and they're gonna figure out some sort of
way that he stays away from the team. And honestly,
I don't see him playing in the NFL again, any
other team picking him up as a backup now, because
(37:32):
you're taking on the baggage of the fact that everything
that went on off the field that was never really
resolved to anyone's liking or anyone felt it was just
And now you're throw in really bad play where he
seems dispirited and didn't care to be there. No one's
gonna say, oh, we're gonna bring him in. You don't
come in and say we're gonna take a chance and
rehabilitate a backup quarterback who's gonna bring off the field
(37:55):
baggage with him. He's done, He's gonna make his money,
get paid out, and will never from him again.
Speaker 8 (38:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (38:00):
I mean, there's one.
Speaker 4 (38:01):
Thing to say, hey, he's physically not able to go
and his time here needs to end, Like we can't
keep kicking the can down the road. And he's had injuries,
you know, that's been part of his journey. But to
your point, like he's gonna be thirty years old, so
four years of either not playing right, they had that
(38:22):
whole thing with Houston where he didn't play for a year,
and then you've seen him play what fewer than twenty
games and he's been awful in all but maybe two
of them. Plus all the off field stuff. It's not
like you can sell him right, like, hey, here's a
fan base. We're gonna sell him. This is a rehab
like this is a next step, right, the Bears getting
rid of Justin Fields heading to Pittsburgh, find Russell Wilson.
(38:44):
He didn't get along with Sean Payton. There might still
be something in the tank. And Mike Tomlins the right
guy to say, all right, I could go and re
rehabilitate this that the other, and maybe it works because
we have a stable program. Well else bringing that in right,
you're not winning a marketing and sales things like oh yeah,
we're gonna make so much money hand over fist by
(39:06):
bringing this guy in as I owe back to you
know when you say you can't bring in a backup,
who's a side show, Well you could bring a deepo
because he made your money and it was mostly positive stuff.
Whether he could play or not was a whole other thing.
But for Deshaun Watson, yeah, that's it. He's played his
last out of football.
Speaker 1 (39:23):
The Browns are.
Speaker 4 (39:24):
Hoping and not that you want the guy suffering long
term effects with this injury that he can't get cleared,
because then they can get some injury pick up for
part or all of the money.
Speaker 1 (39:34):
Now, like I said, the money will get figured out
and it will seem like a lot whenever they wind
up having to pay him whatever it turns out to
be a settlement with, whether it's injury settlement or otherwise.
They'll figure out the money and they'll draft a guy.
They're gonna draft a quarterback. That's how they saw the
GM's putting his job on the line to bring nobody.
I mean, you've seen you saw Andrew Berry like he
(39:55):
was doing all he could, Like I was in a conversation,
he has played his la down in the NFL. Coming
up next, we have more of the fel on the
Way and must hear audio from postgame tonight in the NBA, Nick,
Jason and Mike. This is Fox Sports Radio. Oh.
Speaker 2 (40:14):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (40:25):
Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with My best
friend Mike Harmon Live from the Tireck dot Com Studios.
Big night in the NBA, Trey Young beats the Knicks,
tells Knicks fans take their asses home, Warriors win a
big show down with the Celtics. Are they for real?
What about Joelle Ebiid? Is he ever going to play again?
(40:47):
Joining us now online? Nobody better? Fox Sports won NBA
Inside our longtime friend of the show. You can follow
him on Twitter at Rick Buker. It is the aforementioned
Rick Buker. Rick, what's happening, buddy?
Speaker 8 (41:01):
How are you?
Speaker 6 (41:02):
I am good? I'm a slightly distracted. It's only because
I'm trying to keep an eye on this Nuggets the
Thunder game, which appeared to be a Thunder walkover for
a better part of the night, and the Denver Nuggets
have rallied and now up one twenty one point fifteen
(41:23):
with doing straw there at the line. So showing a
little bit of a gumption here, Nikola Jokic playing with
like just four of the youngins and getting it done
against Okay, see, so I am ready, though, I am ready.
I just I'm going to have one eye on the
radio and one eye on this game.
Speaker 1 (41:44):
Well, you could keep both eyes on the game. Since
radio is theater of the mind, you can put both
eyes on the game and your brain with us. I
think that how about that, Well we could do that.
Speaker 4 (41:55):
But I like the idea that you were staring down
the radio with a st book at Jason.
Speaker 1 (42:02):
Because I watched that strategy tonight Rick with the Knicks
where they had one eye on Trey Young and no
eyes on Research and he scores thirty points and no
turnovers to the Knicks loose to the Hawks. I saw
that strategy. It doesn't work.
Speaker 6 (42:14):
Yeah, that was a strange I mean, the Knicks lost
this one an in an unusual way because they're generally
they're generally pretty good rebounding wise, and they gave up
sixteen offensive boards.
Speaker 8 (42:27):
I mean it just but.
Speaker 6 (42:30):
Hawks have one of the fastest paces and the Knicks
once again this year, are dead last in pace, and
so it you know, styles make fights, and and then
you know Tipps is doing his usual thing where the
only playing you played, he played eight guys but essentially
sick man.
Speaker 1 (42:47):
Yeah already, Yeah, it's great. It's like the State tournament. Yeah,
we're playing our five starters and the one sixth man
who comes off the bencher just a little bit exactly.
Speaker 6 (42:56):
And so then now you're playing against a team that
played fast and they and they play the deep deep
rotation and they just they just kind of outwork the Knicks,
which is really really kind of unusual. But having said that,
I'm really curious about where the chemistry is with this
team because we made such a big deal about the
(43:17):
whole Villanova thing last year, right, and now it's it's Villanova,
uh you know, east in in in spades, and and
I just started thinking about, like, okay, so how does
Carl Anthony Towns feel about that whole Villanova vibe, and
and og Ananobi and and Miles of Bride and the
(43:37):
guys that are are also important to this team but
are not considered in that circle, and and and when
we talk about teams that are playing for championships, you
generally can't have clicks. You can't have like, you know, groups,
subsets within with within the team. And not to say
that it's it's it's not necessarily a negative. It's just
(43:59):
it's like, oh, those are those guys and we're over here,
and sometimes that can just unintentionally kind of tear at
the chemistry and cohesiveness of your team. And not to
make too much of this, because there's you know, you
did it once in a while, you just drop one
in unlikely fashion, and I think the Hawks loss fits
(44:21):
in that category. But you know, by and Lards, the
Knicks have just sort of been ineffectual this season so far,
and that's not something that we normally associate or have
associated with them over the last couple of years, or
with Tom Thibodeaux team. So I think that the whole
chemistry element with this team, which is something that we
(44:44):
just raved about last year, is something to keep an
eye on this year.
Speaker 4 (44:48):
There you go tweet that out smith Rick Buger foreshadows
the down maall of the Niche show. How about the
Warriors one eighteen one twelve final over the Celtics. No
Jalen Brown in this one, but a big win on
the road. They're now five and oh away from home
and getting good rotational ball. I mean, Jason brought up
the point earlier, and I think it's apt to talking
(45:09):
about heavy minutes for your leaders. But right now playing
some really good basketball.
Speaker 6 (45:14):
Right, no doubt about it. And look, there are a
difficult team to prepare for right now because they're playing
in such an unorthodox fashion. And if you look at
just their starting lineup, you know, the Boston Celtics obviously,
you know, you guys know each other really well, but
the Boston Celtics don't really know this team. We've got
Trace Jackson Davis starting, you got Moses Moody, you got
(45:37):
all sorts of new pieces in there, Buddy Healed coming
off the bench, playing like ten, eleven, twelve deep. It
really changes kind of the look of them. And I
think it's difficult at times when you run into a
team like that. It is also just motivated to like
to prove something that it can create problem because this
(46:02):
wasn't one of those you know, at first, Jason Tatum
started a little slow, and I thought, oh my god,
here we go.
Speaker 2 (46:05):
Again, like what is it about.
Speaker 6 (46:07):
These freaking Warriors? The Jayson Tatum just just se sees ghosts,
but he actually he came around and he played well.
And I thought the Boston Celtics by and large played well.
I think the big difference, I think the thing for
the Warriors, Like I don't know whether this translates to postseason,
but as of right now, the biggest thing for me,
(46:30):
I will say is I'm laughing at all those people
who have wanted to fire Steve Kerr, like whether or
they were just they were just they didn't And there
were Warriors fans they're like, what's he doing? Like he's
not using kaminga right, He's not playing Moses Moody, He's
not like all these things. And I'm like, you guys,
realize what Steve Kerr has done and how he's trying
(46:52):
to transform this team on the fly into one that's
still competitive. And Mike Dunley Junior is just handed him
like a bag, like the whole bag of new pieces.
Build something out of this, right, build something? You know, Look,
we had those championships. Can you take this bag of
stuff and can you build another one of those? Like
(47:13):
that's what he's being asked to do and and and
he's and he's doing it, and he's doing it in
a in a completely different way for the most part,
and the way they've played in the past, and so
I just, uh, you know, this is this is uh,
this is just a tremendous job. It's a tremendous job
(47:34):
won by Steve Kerr. And once again it's a reflection
of uh what Steph. The culture and the inclusivity that
Steph Curry creates. And we saw it when he stepped
to the side or made room for Kevin Durant and
and you know, look, you're a league MVP, and and uh,
(47:57):
some guys would struggle like trying to find room for
someone who takes up as much oxygen and shots in
space as Kevin Durant and step Curry didn't have. He
didn't hesitate for a moment. And I think the most
striking thing. And I don't know if I shared this
with you guys, but in the in before the season started,
I asked Steph and Steek Kerr about how they had
(48:21):
struggled last year with playing sort of the system that
the veterans are comfortable in and that they've had a
tremendous amount of success with but guys like Jonathan Kaminga
and Moses Moody just don't operate as well in it.
And so I was like, what are you guys going
to do this year? Like are you going to And
they said, we're going to try to accommodate the young guys,
(48:41):
like we're going to try to accommodate the new pieces.
And that's what they've done. And that sounds all well
and good, but man, you got you got a coach,
and you've got a veterans who have won championships with
a particular system, and they are humble enough, self effacing
enough and focused simply on what do we have to
(49:07):
do that gives us the best chance to win enough
that they're willing to, like accommodate guys that haven't won anything,
just because they see that as the what's best for
the team. And so that's why the Warriors are doing
what they're doing. I don't know if it translates, you know,
(49:27):
when you get down to the nitty gritty and you
get the best of the best at the end of
the year. I don't know if any of that. I
don't know if they're just the talent wise, they're good
enough when it gets to that. But once again, you
know the magic of Steve Kerr and Steph Curry is
creating something greater than the sum of its parts. And
it's been really kind of fun to watch.
Speaker 1 (49:49):
Rick Buker our guest to Jason Smiths or with Mike
Carmen live from the tirec dot Com studios. All right,
Rick to the big Joel Embiid soap opera? Does he
does he ever play in the NBA? Again?
Speaker 3 (50:00):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (50:00):
Is he ever going to play? I don't think he is.
To get suspended for three games when you're not playing,
it's a difficult thing to do, and yet he found
a way to do that.
Speaker 5 (50:09):
Yeah, it is. It is.
Speaker 6 (50:11):
And I will say, you know, my hat is off
to Joe Dumars in the standing up for the media.
It wasn't it wasn't a punch, It was a shoves.
But the relationship between the media and the players is
is probably at an all time low at a time
(50:31):
when the media could not be softer. I mean for
someone who started doing this twenty twenty five years ago.
The softball questions are the questions where people get their
backs up, like, I'm like, are you kidding me?
Speaker 1 (50:45):
Like you.
Speaker 6 (50:47):
I don't know if you guys remember TJ. Simer's but
there or Jay Marriotti, Oh sure, yeah, they're you know,
Peter VESSI even like guys who they cut and dry.
They were asking direct what's up with this? Questions and
you know you today's questions don't compare, and so Joelle
(51:10):
reacting the way that he did was completely completely.
Speaker 8 (51:14):
Out of line.
Speaker 6 (51:14):
And yet I hear fans too, they're like, well, you
know how they're the NBA. Joelle is just getting back
at a at a columnist who got personal or whatever.
Speaker 8 (51:23):
It's like.
Speaker 6 (51:25):
The whole world is skewed when it when it's come
to that. But all that said, no, Joel will eventually play. Okay, yeah,
but but like you know, I think that we all
looking at Paul George coming on board and Tyreemaxi in
the way that he had evolved, and Joelle playing the
(51:46):
way he did with Team USA and feeling like, okay,
you know what, maybe they got a shot. If they
have ever had a shot, this is their shot. And
then you've got just one distraction after another, some of them,
most of them self inflicted, whether it's the confusion from
(52:11):
the front office and the head coach about Joelmb's availability,
or Joel saying, you know, I'm never going to play
back to backs again, like just ruling that out for
the rest of his career, and the firestorm that that created,
and then you know, pushing a columnist. And then Paul
George fifteen seasons, fifteenth season, He's played almost thirty thousand
(52:36):
minutes and he doesn't know what the score is and
has twenty four seconds and doesn't have time to look
up to see what the score is to know what
kind of shot he should take with the game on
the line, and then ends up taking the longest low
percentage two point shot when they need three to win
(52:57):
that you could possibly take, Like they ain't a whole
lot there for me, Billy, this is Philly's year. It
might be Philly's year, but not in any way the
way they're not.
Speaker 3 (53:11):
Thought it was there.
Speaker 1 (53:12):
There are I never again list Rick a team I
will never pick to do anything, because I've been burned
by them so many times in the past, Like the
Sixers are completely on my never again list, and.
Speaker 6 (53:21):
I'm that way with Paul George, Like I kept thinking
he's so talented, like he's he's not a bad guy,
he's not a selfish guy. Like the light's gonna come
on eventually, like it has to write, he's just too
talented and come on, and now I'm like, nah, he
is who he is? Like this this is one more time,
(53:42):
you know, and it's kind of fitting, like at what point?
At what point do we look at.
Speaker 3 (53:47):
Daryl Morey and go, dude, like you gather a lot
of talent, but it never fits and it always underperforms,
like at some it's been a kind of remarkable how
he's dodged, dodged the bullet the way that he has
because you look at all of the pieces that he's acquired,
(54:09):
and you look at all the hooplaw around those pieces,
and it's second rounded out, second rounded out, second rounded out,
Like man, I mean maybe maybe now is that is
that time we'll see?
Speaker 4 (54:26):
Yeah, he had a good run. Let me ask you
this very succinctly, Rick, real quick to wrap things up.
What exactly are the Lakers right now?
Speaker 6 (54:41):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (54:41):
I think Lebron's hacked your phone, Rick, So you got
that Lakers question out all of a sud.
Speaker 4 (54:47):
His voice had to be disguised he went robotic quick.
Bucher's on Fox Sports Radio. Jam that phone up, Jam
McCom leg centered switch. Okay man, that was Morgan Freeman
with that giant grid in front him and yet in
the Batman with uh.
Speaker 1 (55:04):
So we'll see if we get Rick Buker back there. Lebron,
Lebron just got his phone like right away. Man, that's
that's impressive. Like as soon as you said Lakers, it's
like there was some sort of like when when people
can google them and pop up, when when someone mentions
them on social media or something like, all of a sudden, Laker,
my ears are burning Buker's phone. Jammtt, jammtty. You're a
big deal.
Speaker 4 (55:25):
We're listened to, and folks like to take what we
have and carry it forward. So yeah, Rick, as you
were beginning to.
Speaker 6 (55:32):
Say, yeah, Kitty Buss and JJ were like him.
Speaker 1 (55:42):
He knows too much. So we heard you say right now,
they're a five hundred team, and that's when Lebron got
to your phone.
Speaker 6 (55:47):
That's exactly right.
Speaker 4 (55:48):
Yeah, And and.
Speaker 6 (55:52):
I mean, look, they didn't have Anthony Davis tonight, so
they have no shot of winning without Anthony Davis. And
their second best player is Uh, is almost forty year
old Lebron James who can still get numbers, can still
get his numbers, but he's getting them in a way
(56:14):
that doesn't get anybody else numbers six six, And he's
and this is what I love about about Lebron is
Lebron is just he's so smart in terms of like
he knows that he has a good looking box score,
he's gonna he's gonna escape the blame. And and so
if you look, I was just curious. I was because
(56:37):
because what I've noticed is, man, he's still in a
lot of lobs to Anthony Davis. And that's I mean,
Anthony Davis might be one of the best ali oop
finishers options that you can have, particularly in this small
ball game, right And uh, And so I looked at that,
just randomly, two double digit assist games that Lebron had
(57:02):
half of his assists in booth games with Anthony Davis.
Speaker 1 (57:06):
I can't fault a good strategy.
Speaker 3 (57:10):
I'm just like, you know what he knows like when
it's when it's not there.
Speaker 6 (57:14):
And conversely, like tonight he was working with Jackson Hayes
and he was able to get one off of Jackson.
But that was about it because Jackson's not He's just
not the same as a d and he was and
he winds up with six assists and five turnovers. So
it really is it's an Anthony Davis driven team. And
it's all well and good to say we're going to
(57:34):
empower him and we're going to try.
Speaker 3 (57:36):
To make him an m VP.
Speaker 6 (57:37):
You're not gonna make him an MVP of.
Speaker 8 (57:38):
Your five hundred record team.
Speaker 5 (57:39):
That's just reality.
Speaker 6 (57:41):
First team All NBA. You can probably get him there,
but uh, there's just not there's not enough there. And
if you look at this team, they're just they're not
They're not very athletic, and that's what you saw against
the Grizzlies. I mean, they're they're they're getting killed. In
terms of the transition, I think Lebron had when he
(58:04):
had thirty four points and he was a whatever, he
was a minus. It was the worst than the team
minus twenty one. Maybe it was a big name minus
minus bus minus twenty one. So we scored. He scored
thirty nine points, and yet the Lakers were outscored by
twenty one when he was on the floor. And what
(58:25):
teams have realized is we doesn't need to get up
and down. Austin Reeves doesn't want to, Like, he doesn't
want to bust it up and down because he's not
he's not built for that. Lebron certainly isn't built for that.
Anthony Davis can do it as a big, but he
doesn't want to consistently do that. The Angelo Russell like
half court, full court, doesn't matter. He's not staying in
front of anybody. So like, if you just play up
(58:48):
tempo against them, I there's there's really no answer for that,
and and then you just have the whole I mean
that not that you asked, but I just as I'm
sitting here and I'm looking and I'm seeing Brownie James
play get in a you know, a blowout and play
five minutes, I'm like, why is he not in the
(59:11):
G League getting playing time? Like if you're developing him,
if this isn't just Bron gets to tour with his son,
Like why is because he didn't play that much at
USC and then he had the heart you know, he
had the heart issue, and he wasn't really playing that
much in high school I mean, or playing a big role.
(59:33):
So if if you drafted him truly because you believe
that he can be an NBA player, GEDs to be
playing as much as possible, and then that's not going
to happen with the big team. So and you can't
tell me that Jalen's with Chaffino and some of the
other young guys on this team aren't looking at that
going you know, the guys that are on two ways
(59:55):
or are getting sent down to the South Bay, They're like,
what's going on here? And look, everyone on the team
is going to look at it and go, what's going
on here? And when you're a team that's as marginally
talented as the Lakers, you can't have guys questioning like
are we all in to trying to win every possible game?
(01:00:19):
And yet there's a lot of things going on. You
just I just look at and I go, are you
really are you guys really looking to win every game possible?
Or is this a matter of we're just trying to
be sort of entertaining and and be a draw And
the bron brawny thing is still going to make us that.
(01:00:40):
So we're gonna we're gonna roll with that. I just
it doesn't it doesn't sit It doesn't sit well with me.
For for the other guys on that team. You know,
there's guys trying to make a career here and and
uh and do care about winning? And I just there's
I got some questions is whether everybody with that Lake's
organization right now is thinking the same way.
Speaker 1 (01:01:02):
He's on Twitter at Rick Buker. Rick as always, buddy,
Appreciate it, my man. We'll talk to you next week.
Speaker 6 (01:01:07):
My pleasure.
Speaker 1 (01:01:08):
Guys. Thanks Rick, Thank you,
