(00:50):
Com is the way tire buying should be. We have
a big night in football with the new college Football
Playoff poll, and there's already one thing that I can
tell that we're starting to get to with the college
Football Playoff Paul, that I have to nip in the bud,
have to nip in the bud. But Okay, before we

(01:12):
get to that, we have to talk about what just
happened between the Pistons and the Heat. I don't know
the last time the Pistons have been the top story
out of show. But hey, here we are.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
Well we're almost at the anniversary of the Mouse in
the Palace, right.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
That's probably the last time.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
Yeah, yeah, maybe, uh yeah maybe maybe the draft with that.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
Number one, I don't know, he got some run. Yeah,
he was kind of a big deal. But the first story,
he's a good.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
Player that everybody categorically just missed.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
No, yeah, I mean you got a he got the max. Like,
there's nobody that's done less to get the Max than
Kate Cunningham. But I mean really, but the St. Joe
first story didn't get the max. Uh. There there's guys
over paid. But I'm when when it's this is the
most I can get you, well, hang on, hang on,
hang on, I give you more, but it's the most
I can give you. Wait, hang on, hang on, hang on,

(02:05):
hang on, hang on. They couldn't even they could have
given Daniel Jones more money.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
No, but I mean Cunningham would have been the first
pick on draft night, so he would have led the
show a draft night.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
Would he I'm trying to remember back if if if that,
if that was the number one story.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
See now you're like, all right, what else happened in
that draft? Kate Cunningham NBA Draft, Like was this? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (02:27):
It was that the top story in twenty twenty one?
That the top story of the night. That's a tough one, man.
I don't know, I don't know, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
Was there some other football being played a ma with
a action that we were paying attention in.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
Miami, Ohio play against Northern Illinois. Was it was their
a game there? Uh? Yeah, I don't know, man, I
I don't, I don't. I guess he would.

Speaker 3 (02:53):
Have been No, that would have been the end of July.
So I mean at baseball game.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
I get no, it would it would have Kid cunning in.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
So that's the last time Detroit was featured and a
non non Lion.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
You know what. I'm sorry, No, I'm not gonna I'm
gonna no, I'm gonna challenge that. I'm gonna die. Want
to throw the challenge flag that you have to prove
to me that that was the number one that was
the number one story of the NBA Draft. Well the draft?
What else was there? Because there could have been a
trade that day. There could have been a trade that
day that was a bigger deal. I mean they they
drafted Luca Garza in that draft too, and that was

(03:25):
you know, Hawks, I'm telling you, man, I don't know.
I I'm gonna throw a chat. You're gonna have to
prove to me that that was a number one story. Anyway.
Why are the Pistons and the Heat the number one
story the night? Well, luckily we're going to tell you. Look,
the Pistons have actually been playing a little bit better
this season. Haven't been the Hey we're just gonna you know,

(03:47):
lose and start like, oh to nine. No, the Pistons
are five and seven, and with the first night of
the NBA Cup, let's go like, suddenly, this is a
you know, the Eminence Cup is not a put on
the Eminence it's it's it's a big deal with a version.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
He would then say, it's something that is not FCC appropriate.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
So the Heat and the Pistons in this game, I mean,
I know, it's it's the NBA Cup. We're coming down
to it. The Heat and the Pistons are tied at
one twenty one in overtime, right, So this is a
pretty good game, right, I mean, yes, it is the
Heat and the Pistons, but they're tied at one twenty
one a piece in overtime. Okay, what's going on? There

(04:29):
is one second left after a Jalen Duran alley oop
dunk that ties the game at one twenty one apiece.
All right, well it looks like we're going to be
over again. Sure, except a very very frustrated Eric Spolstra
decided I am done coaching in this game because he
does something that he shouldn't have done and the Heat

(04:52):
go down because of it. So Cunningham nobody's guarding him.
Darren duns it.

Speaker 4 (05:01):
Oh mine, unbelievable. In seven tenths of a second, they
tie the game in one twenty one.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
The Pistols are walking off the court. Call timeout.

Speaker 5 (05:14):
Oh no, but referee is saying that coach Spoe is
called a timeout and that's a technical foul as the
heater out of timeouts.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
Oh boy, oh boy is right? Heat Radio Network on
the call. I can just say myself, going, oh boy
is right? Noon time to do a shot. Eric Spolstruk
is frustrated, calls a timeout. Did not like the play.
They're not like the way that play went. It was
an easy alley oop with with one second left to
go in the game. They tie the game. He's frustrated,

(05:44):
calls a timeout that the Heat do not have. Malik
Beasley makes both free throws and the Pistons win. It
won twenty three to one. One. Now, when I tell you,
if you said to me, okay, Jason Tonight, an NBA
head coach is gonna call time out when they don't
have any at the end of the game, I would say, okay,
are the Lakers Pike No, I would say okay. Of

(06:06):
the list, the absolute last guy who will do that,
the absolute last guy who will do that is Eric Spolster.
He's the last. He is the last guy. I would
put him so far to b He's not. He's not
going to do it. And yet, for the second time
in the last five minutes, I say, yet, here we are.
Eric Spolster calls time out, he doesn't have two free

(06:27):
throws with no time left and the Pistons improved to
five and side.

Speaker 3 (06:30):
I think this just proves Eric Spolster has been watching
too much NFL football this year. You have no management,
no control of what that what's going on in the.

Speaker 1 (06:40):
Final minutes game. You think he was upset and confused
that that that play was supposed to be down the
red line and and on the red line. He got
really mad and he called the time out, red line,
red line, Come on line, well, red line, he gets
all in off the red line, red line. I mean
the last guy. He is the last. There are so

(07:00):
many other coaches. I would say, yes, absolute one hundred percent.
Tims would be up there too. I don't think Tims
would do it because Tim's is too much. He's just
thinking about lots of you know, I could tell that
the cloud over his head, he's not gonna do that.
Uh even Doc Rivers, I would say, yeah, probably not,
But I would put Spolster ahead, like I could see
Doc doing it before I could see Spolster doing it.
I mean, spols is the last anything past Doc calling

(07:24):
time out. He doesn't have because that's his fault. Who
else can you blame? The assistant coach you still had
has told me wanted to time out. I'm gonna listen
to my guys. I'm gonna let Yannist wanted a time out.
I'm gonna listen to it. We're gonna have a time out.
You wanted to time out a call of time out.
You know, a good coach listens to his players all
the time. No, I'm even you.

Speaker 3 (07:45):
I don't do like that, but people have come around
to our Hey, Doc ain't gonna have a job soon.
Take But I still say spols will do it less
than Doc will.

Speaker 1 (07:55):
He's still the last guy.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
Well, he's always about the devil in the details kind
of thing. So that to come up is that's at
a big dale Tyler herro forty points had a nice
leaning shot that's making the highlight rounds and and all
of that. But I mean, come on, it's day one.
I can eat of the n season Emirates Cup journament.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
This is so great. I can even see Steve Kerr
calling a time out he doesn't have before Eric Spolstra.

Speaker 3 (08:20):
Does he have a microphone in his hand because he
wants to give a speech about something.

Speaker 1 (08:24):
You know, I call the time out. I didn't have once.
Want to let you know, no, because he's a guy
in the first thing he who'd say at the press
conference would be, that's my fault. I'm dumb, I'm an idiot.
I shouldn't have done that. I hurt the team. I
apologize with them after. But I can set the.

Speaker 3 (08:36):
Whole time doing it, but the whole time he's saying it,
talking down to you.

Speaker 1 (08:41):
I'm an idiot.

Speaker 3 (08:42):
It's my faulty, Yeah, it's my fault, and he's sharing
daggers at the report ask the question.

Speaker 1 (08:48):
Or maybe making maybe making you feel bad for asking
the question that he's an idiot. Do you feel happy
now that a minute? Do you feel happy? And're you
happy about that?

Speaker 3 (08:54):
Does anybody win with the question you asked right there? No,
I don't think they did. By the way, I was
looking up twe twenty ninth of twenty twenty one, the
big headlines Dusty Hill from zz Top gued, we wouldn't
have started with that nobly for King Richard because because
I met him.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
I met him once. I have a really good Dusty
Hill store. Did you do your little No No video?
It was such an I'll tell you know what. I
will tell that story later tonight. That sounds great.

Speaker 3 (09:20):
The Olympics were going on, so we but they wouldn't.
We wouldn't have led with the Olympics. Maybe it was
something United Staten was performing. Maybe we were gonna leave
with that. Now, Okay, ray Gun four years ago. Kind
of a big deal. I mean now that everybody's stealing
her moves for for their celebratory end zone things. Uh,
United States played cutter and one one nothing in soccer.

Speaker 1 (09:42):
Yeah, we would have led with that. We would not
have led I think we would have led with that.
I don't think I think we would have. I think
I would have. I'm really surprised at what we led
with tonight. I don't believe you. I can't. I really,
I don't know. I don't believe you at all. We
would not have led with that.

Speaker 3 (09:55):
It would have been Kate Cunningham getting drafted because the
draft would have been delayed almost a full month because
of COVID and all of that.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
So it would have been a big you got a brute, No,
you got. You gotta go back and find out find
the archives. We archives. We don't. We've deleted everything from
Monday Night Football from last night. We don't have. We
don't have any of the Rams field goals from last night.
We're not gonna have that show. I don't forty we
had the field goals to begin with. Make it seem
like we did. Okay, we can see look at it.

Speaker 3 (10:21):
Oh, maybe a fifty seven yard try and then it
was deleted when it went no good.

Speaker 1 (10:26):
Just an absolute stunning thing. Sports was talking about it.
Right now, we'll bring you what he says. I am
sure he said, I'm an idiot. He's the most guy
in the world. Uh. Now, the latest college football poll
is out, and I will tell you two big things
now coming off this poll. First of all, Oregon's number one,
no real surprise, Ohio State number two, Texas is third,

(10:48):
Penn State is fourth, showing you that loss last week
meant absolutely nothing, and Indiana is number five. Go Hoosiers. Now,
obviously there's going to be the way the top twelve
poll is. You know, it's gonna be different when you
get to the end because there's different scenarios that go
into it, such as the top five division winners or

(11:09):
the top five conference winners all get in. The top
four are the top four seeds. So it's gonna look
a little bit different than how it is. It's kind
of like the NCAA turn when you say, well, here's
your top twenty five. How is a team who was
twelfth a two seed. Well that's that's how it goes.
It goes differently now, There's two big things that I'll
tell you right now, just with this latest poll, which
team are going to decide number one? No, no, no, no, no.

(11:31):
Number one. I'll tell you this is that. The one
conversation I'm not going to have any patients for is, oh,
why are we seeded so low? We should be a
higher seed. We should be here. You get in the playoff,
don't bleep and complain, nobody, don't complain. Don't complain about
your seed. Don't complain. You should be hired. Nobody should
be here. We should be this. That's why they have

(11:52):
a whole top four seeds. You win your conference, that
stops all of this. Oh, we're better if you're in
the turt You're in. Okay. It's like the NCAA term.
You can be upset about your seat, but I don't
want to hear complaining about it because you're in. You're in.
You have a chance. There's no buys. It's the top
twelve teams ISH in the country, and there's a reason
that's take number two. It's top twelve teams ISH in

(12:12):
the country, and you're one of them. You gotta beat
good teams to go. But I can already see the
whole jockeying for playoff seed and and we should be higher,
and we're here and we're this. I can already see
that happening because everybody wants the advantage of being the
higher seat. But you know what, I'm gonna have no
patience for that. It's you're in. You're in the top
twelve teat, you're in the playoff, you're in. Just go

(12:33):
go play go play, go in.

Speaker 3 (12:35):
See I'm all for it because then we parse it
out and it gets us more hot. Sports take debates
and fan bases get all fired up. It's good for business,
Jason Smith, it's good for business in your way. I
think everybody saying I'm happy to be here bank, there's still.

Speaker 4 (12:50):
Need to be.

Speaker 3 (12:53):
Hand ready to take down. That's whatever. The last vestiges
is who these people are that are making the decision.

Speaker 1 (13:00):
That's there's better stuff you can put your energy. Yet
there's way better I'm.

Speaker 3 (13:05):
Not saying there's not. But for the purpose of what
we do, you want to probably want people fired up.
I want the eighties pissed off. They stole that game
from us. That there was great content if he'd gone Damn,
that sucks. That doesn't give us anything. You gotta be mad,
finger point and scream, and you're gonna have an aneurysm.

(13:27):
You want to get mad about everything. There's gotta be
a proportional response to the happy anything that happens.

Speaker 1 (13:34):
You are like, it's the worst thing in the world.
I'm like, dude, you got to back up or it's
the best. No, you can't look like saw. You can't.
You can't. You can't make like, Hey, the Bulls suck
and the and the Bears suck, and that's equal like
the Bears. That that that's where your blood pressure is
up high. You medication? Yeah, the ball. You can't make
the bull suck. No, I can't know because they've also
been down here.

Speaker 3 (13:53):
There were no expectations' make this so most excited he's
coming in for the Bulls this year was that Lonzo
Ball might play it.

Speaker 1 (13:59):
Dud, you come on, that was the whole off season.
You can't put this whole college football player arguing about
the Seeds as high as it is that the your
team is now a bigger dumpster fire in the end
than any other team in the NFL. Did you got
to be proportional?

Speaker 3 (14:12):
That's I'm talking the outside world that brings it to
us and puts it on the platter.

Speaker 1 (14:17):
I need them pissed off.

Speaker 3 (14:19):
I need them threatening to tear down walls and create chaos,
because then we can grab that wrapper arms around it.
How are you get in here to the Fox Sports
radio studios and have a nice discussion about.

Speaker 1 (14:31):
Do I have a pill for you? I have to
need a pill, tight shirt, I need a pill for
for harmon. H Okay, how about this? How about I
give you something to be upset about. How about I
give you something to be upset about? Next? How about
I go, I'll give you something real that you can
be upset about. Okay, I'll give you something you feel better. Pet,
you're smiling because I said I have a pill for you.
You're like, yeah, yeah, yeah, give me, give me the pill,
give me the match. You have to take my medication.

(14:53):
So I got plenty, I got I got something big
for you. Really want to be upset? I got something
for you. College football wise coming up next. Plus, yes,
we get into the team that is the new biggest
dumpster fire in the NFL. Congratulations Chicago ah Bears, you
have so earned it. That's coming up next. Right here,
Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (15:15):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (15:25):
Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon Live from the tire rack dot Com Studios,
and we'll get into the new team that's the biggest
dumpster fire in the NFL. Wait, I tell you they
were really they were really, absolutely intent on becoming that
new big dumpster fire. They wanted to overtake the Jets.

(15:48):
And congratulations to that team. But first I said to
you a few minutes ago, you seen a little overly
upset or overly you know, wanting to get into the
debate of where the team should be ranked in the
college football playoff pole. No, I just say it.

Speaker 3 (16:02):
I need fired up fan bases to be pissed off.

Speaker 1 (16:07):
That's not see. There's better places to put your energy. Okay,
there's better place arguing. There is, but the.

Speaker 3 (16:12):
Pres of our jobs to have the ads, the coaches,
the players, and of course the lunatic fringe of the
fans arguing about the merits of their squad.

Speaker 1 (16:22):
That's good. For business. No, No, here's what you want.
I'll tell you want to put your upset because I
can tell you always want to get upset. You always
want to be mad. You want to be mad right
away about stuff. So let me tell you. I'll give
you two things you can be mad right away about
this playoff poll. Okay, one thing absolutely is gonna I
think it's gonna change, and another one we'll have to see.
The first one is this the top five teams in

(16:46):
the quote Power five conferences getting in. Yeah, that's not
gonna fly after this year. Congratulations Mountain West. I can't
see that happening again after this year because somebody's gonna
get left out and it's gonna be a three he
lost SEC team and they're gonna say, how can you
take the champion from the Mountain West. They don't even
have a conference anymore, How can you take them? That's

(17:08):
something that's going to make up that's going to foster
change in the playoff poll for next year.

Speaker 3 (17:14):
I think it depends who gets left out number one,
what that record is. It'll be a three loss SEC
or Big ten team, and that's gonna do it. I
think they're not representation that it won't be you.

Speaker 1 (17:26):
Left out Florida. Now you're telling me there's something to
not be upset about.

Speaker 3 (17:30):
You want to be upset about something that's not worth
gonna be all upset I'm gonna say about it, And
you're saying, no, this is not something to be upset
about it. I'm saying it's not gonna necessarily change, it's
not concealed. Well, you know it's absolutely consisting. Because you
said it's gonna make change. I'm saying it's not.

Speaker 1 (17:46):
You not immediately. You don't seem nearly as upset about that.
When when a good team, a good team from a
Power five car is gonna get left out? Yeah, no,
get left out? Wait what I'm not mad about? What
are you up? Said about the seatings? Oh we should
be higher. Yeah, but we got left out entirely. Oh,
don't be mad about that. No, No, they'll be pissed.

Speaker 3 (18:02):
But does it necessarily But they'll be three or four
teams probably in the same boat. You might have representatives
that from both the Big ten and SEC that want
to fight each other with their.

Speaker 1 (18:11):
Three losses, I don't know who you are anymore, Which.

Speaker 3 (18:14):
Leaves that Mountain West team standing high while those guys
fight each other.

Speaker 1 (18:18):
This is like, that's what I'm saying. This is like
if the two things happened to me and and and
one is okay, Uh, someone's dog defecates on my lawn
and my car gets stolen. I don't really care if
if the if the dog, I'll clean it up. And
that's a big mine of thing. The car getting stolen
is a big thing. You're upset more about the dog

(18:40):
and your lawn than you are by your car. Well,
it's a matter of respect. Someone may have needed that car.
I don't get a guy respect. I'm gonna steal that
guy's car because I know he's not gonna chase that.

Speaker 3 (18:50):
But there might have been a you know, desperation. And
you don't know that person's backstory. The person who let
the dog just go through their business, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (18:59):
A bachelor's just disrespectful. You probably have a good reason
to steal you. I'll just give you the keys. How
about this, I'll start it for you. It's a thumb
print thing, So I'll just do and then you just
take the cargo wherever you want to go and and
just take it.

Speaker 3 (19:10):
Just Oh, you might have to do that. Under direct
changes the story.

Speaker 1 (19:14):
I mean, that's a that's going to be a bigger
deal that that's going to be a huge controversy coming
off of this year. What are you talking about? But
what are you talking about?

Speaker 3 (19:24):
Yeah, that's that's inevitable, right because it becomes the our,
our conference is better than yours, which is the you know,
measuring stick that we do. I was trying to be
kind because we're still early. I can't use the analogies
that you'd like to. It's like busting out the tape
measures and comparing our accolades and our accomplishments here. H

(19:48):
and every conference does that, right, It's like, well, what's
our record here in bowls against you? Like they start
bringing in stuff that doesn't matter from coaches that are
long departed from these sidelines, like, well, for the last
twenty years, we're doing well. It's twenty twenty four to
due day yesterday. It's an old day now for the
casual fan. Having the Mountain West team in there is

(20:09):
gonna be pretty exciting. But yeah, to your point, there's
gonna be three or four teams that are all gonna say, well,
we lost three, but our three look at our three
versus you know, those two lost Teamsise.

Speaker 1 (20:21):
This is not the two thousand and four Boise State.
Oh hey, look the guy scored a touchdown, send Adrian
Peterson home and and proposed to his girlfriend. That's not this,
that's not this era. Yeah, the highest Onesy State gets
in over Georgia, right, because boys day, do you like
how they're sitting there, like Boise State's right at thirteen,
Like right, Georgia they get in over Georgia or Texas,

(20:43):
A and M or Colorado. You really think that's gonna
be something that's not Okay, We're gonna rectify all of that.
There's gonna be changes now because we don't want that
to happen again. I mean because right there's stubs where
could say, okay, you don't want to It's hard to
argue when you get outside of twelve. But you're talking
about Boise State, George. I mean, it goes back to
the philosophy of you let the mid major teams in
the NCAA Tournament when I don't think they should be

(21:06):
in at all because they don't play the schedule that
the Power five conferences do. I'm sorry, but playing an
ACC schedule is a lot more difficult than playing a
Horizon League schedule. Right, I'm just great that you're twenty
three and seven in the Horizon League. That's awesome. But
if you're twenty three, what are you gonna be in
the ACC? Five hundred?

Speaker 3 (21:26):
Maybe, But in the new world and college athletics, where
it's now a professional sport and acknowledged as such, then
we might as well just say you guys aren't eligible.

Speaker 1 (21:37):
You're not even considered to be part of this.

Speaker 3 (21:38):
If if we're gonna go down that road, if we're
gonna just say, well, you know, and we're gonna argue
all these conferences, well you would be five hundred over here,
Well you're not. I mean, if you want to simulate
it and pick your captain against my captain and we
sit down with a video game, and that's how you
want to toss it, or have some jackass do a
one hundred million simulations, trot out the guy from the

(21:59):
elections going to be telepriate.

Speaker 1 (22:00):
I don't even think it's I don't even think it's controversial.
I mean, you're talking about a team that's played Prairie
View and and and you toss State and Hawaii and
you yes, A couple of teams are not bad. UNLV
is not bad. A couple of teams, but suddenly say, hey,
here you are. You're in.

Speaker 3 (22:15):
That's a difficult thing, man. But then here's what we do.
They never crack anywhere near the top top twelve. Okay,
but okay, where you have it. Now you're you're opening
it up for.

Speaker 1 (22:29):
A one lost Mountain West team, not an undefeated Mountain
West team, a one lost Mountain Yes, your loss was
to Oregon and Oregon's number one team in the company,
and it was close. But a one lost Mountain Western.
You wait and see what that is. If Georgia is home,
you wait and see. If you thought Kirby Smart was
mad one of his players was celebrating with the other team, Wait,
do you see what happens if Georgia gets left out?
So bois.

Speaker 3 (22:48):
I think they should go back and watch some of
these take and recognize where they failed.

Speaker 1 (22:51):
And Carson was a jag just on the way until
a team that has all kinds of influence and makes
money for college football there like very where, there's where
we have to go and do our line of demarcation.
It is something we've talked about forever is what's the
best TV show, which means if Colorado runs out, even

(23:13):
if by whatever metrics, they should still be fifteenth or
fourteenth or whatever it is. No, they're in.

Speaker 3 (23:19):
We know this because the spectacle, the eyeballs that it brings,
the dollars it brings, and sure, Boise State, you've got
the Heisman Trophy, favorite non quarterback and the stories and
smurf turf and everything that go with that, and I
get it on a grand scale. The question is do

(23:39):
they hang with these squads?

Speaker 1 (23:41):
I don't know that.

Speaker 3 (23:42):
It wasn't that part of the excitement of expanding to
twelve that a one loss team from a conference like
that gets in.

Speaker 1 (23:51):
A one loss team, a one lost team from the
Mountain West getting in a one loss team from the
Mountain just because your syracusan arrigs didn't take care of
business last week. I go get mad. How does coach showered?
Maybe they would be in it. No, that's true. Hey, listen,
fran Dunk and his team did. Bran Brown punishes himself
and his family by not showering after a lost family

(24:13):
gets You have a bad show? Do you not? You soap?

Speaker 3 (24:15):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (24:16):
You know there's sometimes I say no, I want to.
I want to. I want to make myself go after
something tomorrow. So no selp right now. You just use
a Big Mac is dehordorant. Yeah oh yeah, yeah, No,
you get the little saw that's why you get extra sauce.
But under your arms, oh yeah, yeah, no, that's great. Mike.
You're looking at me like he doesn't do it. Oh
my underarm smell like thousand Islands.

Speaker 3 (24:34):
I think this is an FCC violation. It should be
what you just did to America. You want to be upset.
You think you could be upset. The three teen like
someone get left out at three teams is not nearly
as upsetting as the image.

Speaker 1 (24:46):
You're just putting people free. You think you can't buy
somewhere big Mac flavored deodorant or sentence, sorry not flavor.

Speaker 3 (24:52):
Can't You're not going to eat it, although I would
if I make it in your bu if it's organic,
you would.

Speaker 1 (24:58):
Where's your where's your Big Mac deodorant? I hate it?
I bet I bet you there's gandal you could probably
oh you big Mac Kendall, but big Mac Big Mac
scented deodorant. I bet you can get that. I bet you.
Gwyneth Paltrow's candle smells like it exit out, a fresh
exit swallowed down the Jason Smithson with Mike Carbon live

(25:18):
from the tirec dot Com studios. Uh look, I'm telling you,
I'm telling but I really want to get a big
mac scented deodorant. Point. I thought you were gonna say
you were McDonald's. I just smell like food going all
over the place.

Speaker 3 (25:31):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (25:32):
Look, the Bears have become the biggest tire fire in
the NFL. Yeah, congratulations, Yeah, no, no, We've been working
hard at this for a while, so so yeah, it's
finally come to fruition. Now why today, Because usually the
Jets had a stranglehold on that, like we are number
one and no one is taking this from us, And
the Bears came up and just took it out of

(25:53):
the Jets cold dead hands. Today they fired their offensive coordinator,
Shane Waldron, whom nobody seemed to like, and there's been
reports that members of the team went to Matt Eberfluse
some members of the front office and said, hey, we
can't have Shane Walden as our offense coordinator and and

(26:19):
wait for it, because this is where the tire fire
gets really rolling and Tyson Beagent should be the quarterback
instead of Caleb.

Speaker 3 (26:27):
Why did they just name DJ Moore and be done with.

Speaker 2 (26:31):
Right?

Speaker 3 (26:31):
I mean that he said, why didn't they just dropped
the number two on the ground.

Speaker 1 (26:35):
They didn't say one person. They didn't say one underappreciated,
underfed wide receiver.

Speaker 3 (26:41):
No, no, no, it was god million hours he was
it was unnamed.

Speaker 1 (26:46):
Players said, we can't have Shane Walden as OC, and
you should put Caleb Williams on the bench and go
to Tyson Bagent. Tyson Bagen not like, not like Tebow
is the number two quarterback, not like there's a dude
back there that, hey maybe he'll play. Well, you have
a guy.

Speaker 3 (27:04):
A hundred times the quarterback. Tim tibo Ever was, yeah, that's.

Speaker 1 (27:08):
Not like you have a you know, a peak case keenum,
not a case keenum. Hey, come on in to put
the car in the garage. Keendom like a peak case
keenum or a peak backup quarterback like a like a
Joe Flacco. Hey, we gotta go to flat. They're saying, dude,
Tyson Beagent should be the quarterback. Man, I mean that
he was pretty good in spots. That's but that's but again,
I get it for a guy that's got a resume

(27:29):
like Flacco or something, but no, no, this is how
bad things are. No, we want Caleb Williams to hit
the bench for Tyson Agent.

Speaker 3 (27:38):
Yeah, I mean, and look, pull back thirty thousand foot view.
I mean, here's one of my favorite quotes. Matt everflu
Is doing his weekly spot on The Score was on
with David Kaplan and he was having cell reception problems. Coach,
your cell phone is as bad as the offense right now. Yeah,
that was a pretty good line. And then I heard
a couple of players, a couple of defense defensive players

(28:00):
today being asked point and blank about coaching stuff. The boy,
their back pedaling was as strong, or maybe even better
than their technique on the field. Look, Camleb Williams is
doing a lot of scramble drills. The offensive line is deplorable.
But I told you that coming into the year, that
you bought a bunch of stuff to put in a

(28:22):
ramshackle house, Right this is I went and spent millions
on artwork. Yeah, what's the house look like. It's like, well,
probably need some paint. There's some nails sticking out of
the floorboards. All of those things. But you know what,
people are gonna the eyes are gonna be drawn to
the walls because we got some really nice art pieces
out here, and now we have the quarterback that's gonna

(28:43):
make everything pretty well. It's all off schedule, it's all problematic,
it's all standing. He misses some obvious reads, obvious throws.
He's regressed. The offense has been bad. And for Tyson Bagent, yeah,
I think they're looking for simplicity, a guy that's gonna
play and throw on schedule and maybe simplify things, And

(29:03):
that's that's part of the problem, right And Waldron coming in,
it's no surprise. It is the latest in a long history.
I mean, you got the number of play callers in
the last decade is what we're up to.

Speaker 1 (29:14):
Ten. They don't stay very long, and they're terrible. It's
like spinal tap drummers. Now, they don't last. They spontaneously combusted.

Speaker 3 (29:21):
But it goes back to bringing bringing Eberflus back to
begin with, which was problematic. Told you was gonna happen. Everybody,
they're no, they're gonna fire him in the office, none paramount, No, No,
they weren't because they're the Bears and this is what
they do. And now you've got a guy who was
fired by the Panthers, who once upon a time met
Sean McVay.

Speaker 1 (29:40):
Can I be the offensive corner you met Sean McVay. Yes,
you can come do this all right. Now, Look, I'll
tell you exactly what the short gain is going to be.
Then we'll get to what's trending, because what does this
mean now? In the short term, this is what's going
to happen. There will be a bit of influx of energy,
new energy in the play calling, and they will find
a way to get DJ Moore involved from the jump.

(30:02):
I would I don't. Can I bet that the first
play of the game on Sunday is going to be
a wide receiver screen to DJ Moore, something to get
him the ball in the very first play of the game,
to get him involved. He's there, still their best receiver,
however morose he may be right now, but that's going
to be the biggest thing. Same thing with the Jets
when it was we gotta get Garrett Wilson going, and boom.

(30:23):
Garret Wilson's been great since they said we got to
get him the ball early. But that's exactly what's going
to happen. DJ Moore is going to be a focal
point of the offense because they've gotten way away from it.
And look what happens you get away from your best
receiver and you can't score more than a few.

Speaker 3 (30:35):
Yeah, but let me ask what's gonna happen twenty three
straight drives? But the Jets and the Patriots defensively have
one thing truly in common.

Speaker 1 (30:44):
What is it? One thing? One thing?

Speaker 3 (30:48):
Boy, I don't know what is it. Neither one of
them can stop to run with anything. So what do
you do? Let's throw when we've shuffled up our offensive
linemen to where we've randomly assigned them positions.

Speaker 1 (30:59):
You're supposed to they stink? That changed it? Why that was?
Everybody's waiting for you to say they stink. It's a
fun line. You're supposed to say the line Bart, You're
supposed to say they stink. Instead, you say neither of
them can stop the roads. No, you just say they
stay Okay, they stink. Let's find out what's trending right
now in the wide world. You spell like big Max sauce.

(31:20):
Are you saying that to Isaac Lowan Krondell him Harmon
saying you smell like spell cheese.

Speaker 6 (31:25):
I take it as a great compliment, Hi, compared to
a lot of the other things I've been compared to
over the years.

Speaker 1 (31:32):
Fellas. What's trending?

Speaker 6 (31:35):
The stunning drama of the opening night of the NBA
Cup As the Detroit Pistons took on the Miami Heat,
they battled into overtime. The Heat led by one point
with one point eight left, n ot with Detroit inbounding.
Here are Eric Reid and John Crotty on Heat TV.

Speaker 4 (31:54):
So Cunningham nobody's guarding him, and it conastir.

Speaker 1 (31:57):
And ducks it. Oh fine, unbelievable.

Speaker 4 (32:02):
In seven tenths of a second, they tied the game.

Speaker 1 (32:05):
In one twenty one. The Pistons are walking off the court.
Don't call timeout?

Speaker 5 (32:11):
Oh no, The referee is saying that Coach Poe is
called a timeout and that's a technical.

Speaker 1 (32:17):
Foul as the heater out of timeouts. Oh boy, oh boy,
is right.

Speaker 6 (32:23):
The Pistons Malik Beasley then proceeded to hit the game
winning free throw. Again Eric Spolster, who my mom thinks
is hot calling a timeout the Heat out of timeouts,
leading to the game winning technical foul for Detroit. They
win it one twenty three to one twenty one. Atlanta
a winner at Boston one seventeen to one sixteen own
Yeka Okonku the game winning put back with six seconds left.

(32:46):
Jalen Brown scored thirty seven for Boston to miss a
thirteen footer at the buzzer. The Nicks one at Philadelphia
what eleven to ninety nine by a Josh Hart triple double.

Speaker 1 (32:55):
Right now.

Speaker 6 (32:55):
In the return of Klay Thompson to Golden State, the
Warriors lead Thompson's Dallas Mavericks twenty six to twenty with
two to twenty five left in the first quarter. In
five minutes, Thompson missed both of his field goal attempts
made to from the line. The new college football playoff
rankings were released on Tuesday evening. Oregon remains number one,
followed by Ohio State, Texas, Penn State. Then you have

(33:19):
Indiana at number five and BYU at number six.

Speaker 1 (33:23):
Oh, hang on, guys, I'm getting a text message here.
Oh it's from my mom. Mom.

Speaker 6 (33:28):
Her text quote losing track of timeouts is not hot.

Speaker 1 (33:33):
Back to you, guys. Wow, I was waiting for you
to say he can forget about how many timeouts he
has left with me anytime. That's what my mom you're
talking about. Thank you. I love the Jason Smith Show.
Is my best friend Mike Carbon coming up next? Yeh
cop that Hey, how's that hot Eric Spolster doing well?

(33:57):
Let me tell you. Let me tell you. Coming up next,
there's something that's a new concern for the best team
in the NFL. What is it? We'll tell you next
right here, Jason and Mike. Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (34:11):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific, Fox.

Speaker 1 (34:19):
Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with My best friend
Mike Harmon live from the Tirack dot Com studios. Take
off your uniform. We'll get to a big NFL story,
big injury NFL story coming up in a few minutes.
But it's broke. Yesterday was a bit of a day long.
Let's give the Lions their flowers for how good they

(34:41):
are coming back and winning a game where they played
horribly against the Texans. And look, okay, we've done that.
We told you how good the Lions are for a
long time. They're the best team in the NFL. And
I told you my two biggest fears for the Lions
were peaking too early, That's the only thing. And and
and that I was like, okay, well I'm peak last
week and they still won a game, So okay, speaking

(35:02):
too early. But my new biggest fear is that they're
gonna go cambeling at the wrong time. I mean, they're
gonna go cambambling campbeling at the wrong time. Dan Campbell
made a horrible decision at the end of that game
to settle for a fifty two yard field goal. Right,
nobody does that. You have you've been red hot offensively,

(35:26):
you have a time out, you have time, it's third down.
Try to get a little bit closer fifty. As much
as good as the kickers are, fifty two yard field goals,
you don't settle for him. You could get a little
bit closer. You can make it a forty yard field goal.
You can make it for and that is a much
better field goal to try to make. But instead Dan
Campbell says, no, I'm okay settling for a fifty two yarder. Now.

(35:50):
The lines have been rolling sevens all season, and he
just whispers it in into the upright, the exact opposite
of his previous field goal, which was all the way
on the right hand side, and the Loons win. Right.
When you're when you're hot, you're hot. When you're rolling,
you're rolling. But those decisions don't always go your way. Now,
I know you want didn't want Jared Goff to perhaps

(36:10):
put the.

Speaker 3 (36:10):
Ball in harms and hey can always guard your way
because it's third and seven, right, right, But that was
the first time they called like that was only their
second time out that they used at that point.

Speaker 1 (36:19):
Yeah, you can get You had a time out to
try to get closer. And if you don't get closer,
you know, and you kick fitting to you yorder, but
settling for it. These are decisions that will kill you
in the playoffs. And it's funny because you're normally aggressive.
Of all, right, we need to get the yardage. We
need to make the easier easier play, like that's your
whole thing, is right, I'm gonna play the percentages, uh

(36:41):
and do what's going to make the highest probability. You
had forty eight seconds and allowed it.

Speaker 3 (36:47):
To tick down to where you have the Montgomery run
and then you take your second time out with four seconds, right,
I mean, so you leave one, you take one off
in the holster.

Speaker 1 (36:57):
And that and that's the thing is that when you
are too much of a gambler, that this is why
people don't gamble, because the odds are always in the
house's favor. Right. Agree or disagree with the fourth down
calls in the NFC Championship Game last year, where they
went for it a couple of times a change momentum
helped give the game to the San Francisco forty nine ers.
Agree or disagree with going for it? I think there's

(37:18):
no way you do that because it's different in the
NFC title game that it is during the season. You
think you can still go for it. I do. It's
still a risk. It's still a risk here you didn't
have to take. And when you take a bunch of risks,
you're not gonna get them, all right. And And that's
my that's.

Speaker 3 (37:32):
Tell Dave Roberts that is he does the blank your
That's my thing for the Lions is that eventually he
likes to be risky, and that's gonna come back and
bite you, and you're going to lose. And clearly Campbell
hasn't learned his lesson from last year because he's still, yeah,
this is this.

Speaker 1 (37:47):
Is what we do, what we're doing this to are
and it steel goal. I mean that it was. It
was a field goal that barely went, and it went.
I'm not saying it didn't and you won the game.
But decisions like this that you know, you don't always
roll sevens. Eventually you roll, you roll snake eyes, you
roll box cards. You're not supposed to h This is
how it goes in the NFL. When you gamble too much,

(38:07):
you gamble at the wrong time, and that's when it
comes out to be something that, my goodness, have we
just not made that stupid gamble, we'd be in the
super Bowl, right, Have we just not gone for it
all the time on fourth down against the forty nine
ers and thrown to our number four wide receiver. We're
in the super Bowl. But something like this where we're
gonna settle for a fifty two yarder, if that goes
to the playoffs, that doesn't happen, you lose. Guess what,

(38:28):
Dan Campbell, that's your fault because that was a correctable
mistake that you could have not done. This is not
something where oh hey, it was a split second decision
and we could have gone one way or the other. No,
everybody tries to get closer. When it's a fifty two
yard field goal, you decide we're gonna do it because
I have confidence. It's great to have confidence in your team,
but there's also asking them to do a little bit

(38:49):
too much and that was a big risk. It worked
out for you, but that's that's the thing. Is that
my fears later on when you really need something like
this and you take that big risk and as we're result,
you open the door for the other team to win.
That's my fear for the Lions.

Speaker 3 (39:03):
Yeah, but you're also trying to slam the door on
their their head, which is what he did last year.
And it's all about the excellence of execution. Execute the play.
You're a genius. It doesn't work, you're an idiot. Why
are you taking the unnecessary risk?

Speaker 1 (39:19):
You jerk? That is what we do. And then Dan
Campbell has to move again. Well, you would have to
move anyway. Oh, you definitely would have to move if
that happened. You definitely have to.

Speaker 3 (39:28):
But for this game, I mean, the other side of
it is, can we talk about Houston and something I've
been saying for a long time, and it ain't all
just hey, the receivers aren't there. They got problems, man,
they got problems. So you know, that's a game where the.

Speaker 1 (39:44):
Quarterback through five interceptions, you got issues your offensive lines
of turnstile. Usually the only one worse is the Bears. Right,
here's the only the Jets lose the game. You know,
the last time the team lost with the opponents close
a quarterback through five interceptions, you had a twenty play
gotta go back to the Jets, Like that's the only
thing though, that's really kind of where you are to Jets.

Speaker 3 (39:59):
But yes, it's a certainly the risk reward is there
normally your bludgeting teams. So this is the first time.
It's really weird to head, you know, isn't it marked
by words? Cambeling is going to.

Speaker 1 (40:11):
Kill the Lion. I do like the term cambling though,
just the way exit out about a Fresco exit swallen
do home coming up next to a huge injury update
in the NFL. Keep it right here, Chasing the Mike
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (40:22):
Yeah, Kenny Rodgers Roasters episode of Seinfeld from way back
in the day. Oh yeah, okay, a little bit sure,
sure instead of the red glow, e'stent funky blue.

Speaker 1 (40:32):
I kind of like the blook kind of felt like, hey,
they're playing in the ocean right the waves. We're in
canoes and we're battling over we're making a shot which
would mean splash. Uh.

Speaker 3 (40:45):
So before Darrell Hannah and Tom Hanks and the late
great John Candy.

Speaker 1 (40:50):
What's your name? My name is it? So before we
get to that big injury story in the NFL. Quick
update from the game of the night in the NBA
Mavericks and the Warriors. Dallas leads at forty eight to
forty one midway through the second quarter. This is big, obviously,
the comeback of Klay Thompson playing in his first game
with Golden States and signing with Dallas in the offseason.

(41:14):
He missed his first two shots, you know, but you
know it's an emotional night for him. He does have
eleven so far. The welcome for him where they lined
the inside of the arena as he was coming back,
and you could tell that right away. It was a
big deal for him, getting the heroes welcome, and of
course he's going to come on the guy. You know,
when you win as often as they did, and you're

(41:35):
one of the Splash brothers. Yeah, they're gonna love you forever.
It was it was fun to see that welcome back
for him, and I want one of those captain hats.
Come on. Yeah, and clearly, if you're Klay Thompson, you
really want to have a big night, not just because
I want to show my old team. They didn't want
to give me a lot of money. They kind of
pushed me out. I wanted to go to Dallas, but

(41:56):
you really want to do it because in the back
of your mind it's, hey, they're pretty good without me
this year. Hang on, they got guys playing more minutes
that are Wait, they're eight and two making shots. Steve
Kerr is playing like thirteen guys in a rotation, and

(42:19):
and and they're winning, and they look really good and
they don't seem like they miss me. I really want
to have a good game tonight, guys. Wait, we're five hundred.

Speaker 3 (42:35):
To One of the notes coming out was the both
Steph and Draymond have already hit three pointers over him.
Draymond got hit in the uh the nether region. So
a lot of memes about potential NBA players who would
be celebrating such a moment with little images like they're
amount rushmore players, which is pretty funny. But yeah, all

(42:58):
in Golden date five of eighteen from three point range
down five As as we're watching this and you know
it's entertaining back and forth game and something with some
gravitas on night one in this year tournament.

Speaker 1 (43:11):
I still feel good because we were in the finals
last year. No, no, no, we were in the finals
last year. You were not in the finals. You're supposed
to be the guy to get us over the hub
and get us to the finals and win. Instead we're
five hundred with you. Maybe you're the problem, Klay Thompson.
Maybe it's you, and I'm pretending to be like Luca

(43:31):
at that point. Okay, you know, maybe you're the problem
what you're doing. Maybe I'll take a beer out of
your hand, celebrating in the locker room after we got
a big winn.

Speaker 3 (43:41):
Look, man, it still went downhill. That was the moment,
very critical moment of you can't do that. But yeah,
to this point, he is, he's shooting yeah, thirty five
percent from three point range thus far this year.

Speaker 1 (43:55):
Postgame questions for thirteen postgame fourty is Jason in the front. Clay, Hey,
Jason Smith, Fox Sports Radio. Hey, what's your reaction being
in Dallas being five hundred where your old team seems
to be better off without you? Clay? When you answer,
I'm sorry, I gonna kick I'm getting kicked out.

Speaker 3 (44:15):
Oh am, I supposed to just ask you how you're
getting up out here.

Speaker 1 (44:19):
I'm getting kicked out. I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Yeah, you know,
I do like the hat they're giving away. Well, you know,
the hat from Caddy Shack. They get a hat like that,
get a free bowl of soup. No, it's kind of
like the hat the Ted night Whares when he's when
he's running the flying Walls.

Speaker 3 (44:32):
Sure, or your Meryl stoubing on the love boat. Whatever
takes you through. But yes, already, uh, eleven players have
hit the floor for Golden State in this one. So
keeping up with that theme and trying to show Klay Thompson,
you know what, we're better off without you? Man, Look
at us. I can run out all these young guys.

(44:53):
They can get up and down the court and defend
like you used to remember when he used to be
able to defend like that.

Speaker 1 (45:01):
The drunkards plea at last, really good without me, and
maybe that was the right move. So again, we'll have
you updated on this game. He's plus eight. Uh, that's great,
it's plus eight. The Mavericks are winning. No, I mean
he really wants to have a big game tonight because boy,
you go you go in and they go, yeah, hey,
thanks for visiting. Really but uh, yeah, we've moved past

(45:24):
you now. Yeah. Yeah. It's like the it's like the
the relationship that you know that that two people have
and then one person goes away to school and comes
back and is very excited to be with their boyfriend
or girlfriend and they realize, oh, and hey, in these
last few months, I've I've moved past you. Man. Yeah
we can have fun here. Well, you're back home visiting
for Thanksgiving. But yeah, Sunday night, before you go back

(45:46):
to school, we're gonna have a conversation. That's some other
stuff going on. That's it. Yeah, that's kind of what. Hey,
great times, we had, great times. I'll always love you.
We had we had great We had great times. Remember
we went to Seaside junior year and it was so awesome. Man,
out of the lake the night of the prob. Oh,
there's just where we start playing baby, come back again.
Remember when we covered up that murder of that person.

(46:07):
We didn't like that. Whoa is that.

Speaker 3 (46:13):
You're still trying to get past your admission of stealing
that mailbox.

Speaker 1 (46:16):
Now you're admitting the murder. I'm reading a book where
that's I'm reading a novel where that's up where a
bunch of teenagers are covering up. Oh I've killed somebody. Yeah,
it's it's pretty. Oh that's good. I can't I can't
wait to read it. Let me know when you're done.

Speaker 3 (46:29):
But you know, it is very much that the four
hundred people there. I'm waiting for the Challenger and Christmas
survey that comes out you like they do every year
at the the NCAA tournament or or any big event
where it's like, yeah, here's all the productivity hours lost.

Speaker 1 (46:44):
I mean there were like four hundred people.

Speaker 3 (46:46):
Standing in lining. How many hours of lost productivity waiting
around for Clay Thompson to show up and wave at
him with their little hats.

Speaker 1 (46:54):
So again, we'll lot more NBA on the way. But
big story out of the NFL. It looks something that
we thought was gon And look, we told you about
this for the last I don't know how many days
in a row. It was. As soon as Dak Prescott
hurt his hamstring, you knew, we told you this is
it is he really gonna play again the rest of
the season. He's not. When you talk about the severity
of the injury combined with the fact that it's a
bad season for the Cowboys, not gonna come back in

(47:16):
week thirteen or week fourteen, and the Cowboys shut that
drama down now announcing that he's going to be out
for the rest of the season. Jerry Jones, though, saying, hey,
his recovery procede jury's gonna go through, leaves him in
a really good place. Right, He's gonna be great for
next year. Everything's fine. But he's out for the rest
of this year. So okay, So look the headlines Cowboys,

(47:38):
Jerry Jones now searching. Obviously, go to Trey Lance. That's
the first thing. What else are you doing. You're not
doing anything by playing Cooper Rush. See if you have
anything in the guy you gave him a series last week.
It's gonna look rough, but it doesn't matter. Your season's
over anyway. Go to the guy you brought in and
see if you actually have something there, and that might
be something that helps you for next year, because now

(47:59):
with a really bad injury for Dak Prescott, how is
he gonna come back? It's always great to have an
ascidic quarterback you can turn into a draft pick, play
trade lance. It would be stupid not to. But I
got a bit of a darker side for the Cowboys. Okay,
just think about this for a second, all right. I mean, look,
Jerry Jones does have some Palpatine in him. It is

(48:19):
a little bit, yes, yes, absolute power. You don't think
he's cloned himself. Your over confidence is your weakness. Your
faith in Cooper rushes yours. Wait, he's my quarterback, that's
that's the My faith in him is my down. I
don't have a down. The lance Stephen Kewup returned the

(48:40):
Jedi to the end right before the lightning comes out
of his fingers. Because I've tried that, tried that. You know,
you can't just do that, Like I've tried that for
like twenty years. I paid a lot of money, try
to get lightning come out of my fingers, and uh
just can't do it. It won't do it. I mean sometimes
a little bit of a spark but uh boy, it
was that's about ten million dollars down a drain right there.

Speaker 3 (49:00):
As close as I got was when I dressed up
like the guy from the Running Mate.

Speaker 1 (49:04):
I had a guy coming in and said he was
a lighted from the fingers. Whisper promisedly guaranteed me, made me,
paid him up front and cash in advance, and then
after it didn't happen, can't find him, don't know where
he is now, so can't get the lattin out of
the fingers. So that's a that's a thing. But you
want a dark side. Dak Prescott has had a pretty
good career and he's had a lot of big seasons

(49:27):
over thirty touchdowns. He has always produced. Dak Prescott was
about getting paid his entire career. The last couple of
years has been I want to get paid and stay
the quarterback here in Dallas. Dak Prescott got paid right
before the season started. And what has he done injury aside?

(49:49):
He has put up not one of not among the
he put up the worst year as a starting quarterback
he has had in the NFL, where he finished is
his worst year. If you want to extrapolate that and say, okay,
halfway through the season. What it would be if you
go out to sixteen or seventeen games, this would be

(50:11):
the worst season that Dak Prescott has had in the NFL.
So I posit this to you, Mike Carman, because this
is now the big question is was it just Dak
Prescott bad preparation, because Hey, I'm kind of split because
I thought I was getting paid but I'm not. And
it happens. Some guys get distracted, you don't put in

(50:32):
the work in the offseason you normally do. This still
should be an offense that put points up. Even if
they can't run the football, they still should have been
able to do that. But he didn't. So was this
a bad preparation, bad year or is this Dak Prescott?
I got paid. I'm not getting that kind of money again.
I'm done. That's a big question because why this year?

(50:53):
Why this year is his worst year. He's had worst
teams and he's put up numbers. He's had better teams,
he's put up great numbers, but this year he gets
paid and all of a sudden, he Ezekiel Elliott's his way.
Oh I got paid. Now I'm done. Now I'm Chris
Johnson running between the tackles and falling down. Ezekiel Elliet
got paid, he was never the same guy. Dak Prescott

(51:14):
gets paid, and up until his injury, he was not
nearly the same guy. So that's the biggest dark side.
The biggest question is was this an aberration for Dak
or is this I got paid? It's the last big
contract I'm gonna get and I'm done, and I'm just
gonna kind of this is who you're good. This is
the version of me you're gonna get from now on.
That is a dark side for the guy. Is a

(51:35):
very dark side. And now we get into the reasons,
excuses and trying to parse out where reality is right
when you talk about you've got no running game, Tony
Pollard wasn't a world beater, but as a runner and receiver,
he's light years ahead of the trio that they have.
You could voltron these three guys and not come up
with the stats that Tony Pollard did.

Speaker 3 (51:55):
Here, you can put all three of these guys and
we could stack the asses together. You ain't doing what
Tony Pollard did, and that wasn't even the greatest, right.
He was just over a thousand yards, but a decent
receiver out of the backfield. All that to say, like
Zeke Elliott can't fall forward, right, We've watched it time again.
Ric O'Donnell has one flash every thirty five touches. That

(52:17):
ain't getting done. Receiving corps. You got a guy that's
not bad, but he's been banged up.

Speaker 1 (52:23):
We got CD. It was great right when he got
not blinded by the light? DJ reed up like a done.

Speaker 3 (52:34):
Which do you like the Manford man or at the
Springsteen or secret option?

Speaker 1 (52:38):
See, no, no, no, it's covered a lot. It's the
one that everybody knows is Manfred Man Blinded buy in Dallas.

Speaker 3 (52:45):
But going all through that and then your defense is
a disaster, which normally allows you to put up points,
but you don't have the offensive weaponry or the time.

Speaker 1 (52:53):
To throw the ball.

Speaker 3 (52:54):
So I do agree to a degree, there's too much distraction,
too much noise. And this is the byproduct of the
the Jerry Jones world is that you probably did have
a lesser than run up to the season with all
the contract stuff. I gotta think that you're still working
your ass off because you're one play from I don't.

Speaker 1 (53:16):
Know, having your leg fall apart I'm telling you, man,
that's that's the biggest of you. You think everything is great,
But is this now the doc we're gonna get? I
got paid, and now this is the version of me
that you're which is not nearly gonna be enough and
you're stuck.

Speaker 3 (53:33):
No, I think we also go back to your original
premise of Trey Lance. See what you have not a
heavy investment in him, and your team stinks right loss
loss four in a row. You're middling of the pack
in terms of the strength of schedule remaining. And right
now you have the number eleven pick in the twenty
twenty five draft.

Speaker 1 (53:51):
This is where, hey, if it's gonna go fully.

Speaker 3 (53:53):
Off the rails as well, See what kind of lottery
balls you get together?

Speaker 1 (53:58):
If I get the latting out of a finger as
I get the lottery balls going away? Get notes? Can't
do that? Make them dance. Let Express Employment Professionals help

that sotly Cowboys fans are going, oh great, never thought

(54:21):
about that, but you see, now I'm gonna spend the
next eight months thinking is have we seen the best
of Deck? And now he's peaked and this is what
we're paying him for? Is gonna be this guy? Look ah, yeah, no,
it's not good for anybody, and it's true.

Speaker 3 (54:35):
And you just synced up Dark Side of the Moon
with some kind of weird, twisted We Are the Cowboys
song on the

Speaker 1 (54:40):
Third Roar of the Lions is when you start playing
the Cowboys theme song.
