You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Hello, Welcome in side hour two The Jason Smith Show

Speaker 4 (00:49):
Buying should be. Well, it looks like that's all she wrote.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
The Eagles look like they're gonna walk away from this
game looking like it's a dominant win over Watching and Commanders.
All The e final score doesn't quite tell that story,
but another touchdown from Saquon Barkley it is twenty six
to ten, now Eagles with the lead over the Commanders
with about four and a half to go. In the
fourth quarter. So the Eagles are gonna win. And there's

(01:15):
two big points to make on this. We'll get to
Saquon Barkley in a second, but this is the the
good and the bad for the Eagles, right because we've
seen their personality in this game, both sides of it.
Like the good side of it, where hey, they show
up flat for a half and they make a lot
of mistakes and they look kind of loose and sloppy,
and they can still beat a seven and three teen

(01:36):
pretty badly in the second half because they have dominated
the second half of this game.

Speaker 4 (01:40):
But that's the.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
Flip side of it, is they show up and they're
sloppy and they're flat for the first half of a
divisional game where the control of division is at stake here,
and they kind of just do enough to get by
and they rely on Saquon Barkley, Like I mean it.
This is why it's so hard to believe in the
Eagles and why we talk about the greatness of teams
like the Lions are so good, there's so much better

(02:03):
than everybody else and all the but a team like
the Eagles, like yeah, but because again, they still always
feel like they have one foot on the banana peel.
They show up and look absolutely awful for the first
half of this game. Then they're incredibly dominant the second
half of this game, and they win what's gonna wind
up looking like a going away victory. And it's what's
great about the Eagles, and it's what's maddening about them,

(02:24):
and it's what makes it impossible them to take them serious.
As Hey, these guys are big time contenders because they
can show up flat like this all the time.

Speaker 5 (02:32):
Yeah, I mean, first half, they had great control on
the line of scrimmage, just didn't finish right, a couple
of Elliott field goals, and maybe.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
We look at it a little bit differently.

Speaker 5 (02:41):
Not a dominant half by any stretch, but still they
moved the ball effectively. He just didn't finish drives settling,
you know, fifteen play eighty seven yards like all right,
let's take the chip shot field goal when he's already
missed two.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
Kind of situation.

Speaker 5 (02:54):
Because as we sit here in this moment, inside of
the four minute mark, they've double up the Commanders in
terms of first downs on the game. You're looking at
four hundred and thirty five total yards doubled up the
Washington Commanders on the game. You've rushed for two hundred
and twenty nine yards, nearly three times what the Commanders

(03:16):
have been able to do, time of possession plus ten minutes.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
Like all of that.

Speaker 5 (03:19):
You check every one of those boxes. You say, hey,
we dominate. Oh and defensively, the Commanders are two of
ten on third down. So you've done your job. You
were dominant. It just took a while. You know, if
it keeps on raining, the levee's gonna break. Well, the levee,
damn dune broke in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 4 (03:39):
That's awful English, right there? None. I mean you went
to That was good, though.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
Tell tell everybody where you went to college, so people
know not to send their kid there.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
Good.

Speaker 4 (03:46):
Where'd you go to school? Whe'd go to.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
School Northwestern University.

Speaker 4 (03:49):
Okay.

Speaker 5 (03:50):
I chose my words specifically. That's not by accident. I
don't speak like that. I chose those words for emphasis.
And you bang the podium like you're Matt Millan. I
might have just broken my hand again. It hurts real bad.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
But they did a great job on Jayden Daniels. I
mean much of the night.

Speaker 5 (04:12):
The only guy that was showing up in the receiving
column in the box score was Austin Eckler.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
You want to do checkdowns.

Speaker 5 (04:18):
Okay, occasionally he's gonna break off or run in some yak,
but otherwise the first read, second reads be gone. All right,
let's check down to this guy again. So ppr wise, Yeah,
Austin Eckler gave you a great game. You did get
the touchdown from Robinson, but for the rest of that
receiving corps invisible cloaks of invisibility, like they're out of
Harry Potter Man.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
It's it's really really difficult. But again it shows you
how talented they are. Right, They're so talented they can
they can do this, and for a team like Washington,
they're not quite elite, but you can see they're getting there, right.
They don't quite have the the playmakers at the skill
positions outside of Jayden Daniel, right, they have just a
bunch of guys at running back, wide receiver, and tight end.

Speaker 4 (04:59):
And still there a still winning these games.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
No, schedule hasn't been the toughest, but you can tell
they're still good. They're getting there, right, They're get they're
getting close to being elite. They're gonna make changes they're
gonna say, okay, now building around Jayden Daniels, what do
we need in the offseason, who can we bring in
here as a wide receiver? All of these different things
they can do so you could tell they're getting there.
And this is this is how I thought this game
should go, where hey, Washington gets a little bit of

(05:22):
an education of okay, if we're really gonna be contenders.
The Eagles just showed us how we have to play,
and they did it in the second half, and they said,
this is what happens, this is what we can do
to teams. But it's just you can't survive Jekyl and
Hyde versions of of of the in the same game.
What I got, Jack, I get if you're doctor Jekyl
for like, you know, I gotta explain a millennials with
doctor Jackel. Mister hydis if you get the if you

(05:45):
get the great version of a team for like four
weeks and then you get the horrible version for no reason,
but then you get it in the same game and
you get it like three four times a year, It's like,
what the hell's going on here?

Speaker 6 (05:55):
What?

Speaker 4 (05:56):
What what's the what's the mental lock it?

Speaker 6 (05:58):
In?

Speaker 4 (05:59):
Uh of situation?

Speaker 1 (06:00):
With this team where they they still have moments like
this and why swaths of how they play within the
game like it's it's hard to take you seriously as
a big time contender.

Speaker 6 (06:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (06:09):
I mean there's a couple of things. First off, I mean,
most of the kids have seen Van helsing in the
middle of the night. They know Heckel and and and Doc.

Speaker 4 (06:16):
You're gonna say Heckel and Jeckyll.

Speaker 5 (06:17):
They all know you got you got doctor Heckel and
mister Jived, which is the old men at work song.

Speaker 4 (06:23):
Nobody knows what that I know what that is. Nobody
else knows.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
Well, they know now, damn it, they'll look it up.

Speaker 1 (06:28):
You want to say, oh millennials, No, they know. But
then you mentioned Heckel and Jekyl and doctor Hecker. You
mentioned Heckel and Jackson because you were gonna side did
this is Heckelin?

Speaker 4 (06:36):
Oh wait a minute, that's not what I.

Speaker 5 (06:37):
Know, Doctor Jekyl, mister Hyde, Heckel, mister Jive. And the
fact of the matter is you've been watching the NFL
for the first ten plus weeks of this season.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
The Eagles can do this every damn week.

Speaker 5 (06:51):
How many teams do you say have a true identity
and don't have big flaws in their game. Well, Chiefs
now have to figure out the kicking position. But everybody
else maybe the Lions, that's it. That's a category of one.
Everybody else like Ravens, every Ah. Their run defense is great, Yeah,
because you don't.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
Need to run on them.

Speaker 5 (07:11):
It's deceiving stats because you pass all day on them.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
The Steelers it's still Russell Wilson. I mean, just like
go down the run in the NFC, all the teams
you thought might be great, are they No. Jordan Love's
gonna give you at least three or four chances a
day to squeeze the ball if you're.

Speaker 5 (07:28):
A defensive back, just a matter of whether you make
a play. And Cowboys are blinded.

Speaker 4 (07:33):
By the light.

Speaker 5 (07:34):
Just keep on going down opportunity knocks. The Eagles don't
have to be perfect, you just need to be good enough.
And that's what they were tonight.

Speaker 1 (07:43):
Now here's the thing. So the Eagles are good, they're winning.
What can you say, Jason I escaped saying this about
the Eagles. I will also say this because this is
really and it's if we start the com really, we
started this conversation about a week and a half ago.

Speaker 4 (07:56):
We'll continue it now because now it's gonna get more play.

Speaker 1 (07:58):
When you have a night like this on National Tision,
everybody pays attention to it. Saquon Barkley tonight for the Eagles,
single handedly in the second half offensively started carrying this team.
You had the big forty three yard pass that got
them down inside the red zone. They kicked the field goal.
He's going to finish tonight with about one hundred and
fifty yards rushing, fifty yards receiving, and two touchdowns. Lamar

(08:21):
Jackson has been phenomenal, right, He's been. This is the best.

Speaker 4 (08:25):
Version of himself since he came into the league.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
He has had a different level confidence wise what he
can do was this is the best he has been.
He is feeling all his power right now. Derek Henry's
been terrific too, right over a thousand yards rushing. He's
been really, really good. All that being said, Saquon Barkley
is the NFL MVP right now. At the midway ish

(08:47):
plus point, Barkley's the MVP. He's going to take the
lead overall and rushing. But that doesn't matter because the
Eagles simply rely on him for everything. Every time things
get tough, it's give the ball to sake. It does,
and it doesn't matter if it's Jalen Hurts is fighting
with Nick Sirianni, Sirianni's fighting with Hurts, it doesn't no
matter what, Hurts can't find anybody wide open. It's like

(09:10):
Saquon Barkley has become the touchstone of this team. He
has become the guy everybody loves. Everybody gives him all
kinds of credit. Every one of his teammates rallies around
Saquon Barkley. The addition of him has been, yes, what
it is on the field for a guy who was
incredibly motivated, but it's also been what he does for
the team, bringing them together and giving them that intangible

(09:31):
because this team now looks so scary because of him.
He's someone that can catch a big pass out of
the backfield, break a big run. You give it to
him twenty twenty five times in a game if you
need to, Like, this is the best version of Saquon
Barkley that we have ever seen.

Speaker 4 (09:46):
Like he had the earlier in his career was terrific.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
Right when we thought he was going to be phenomenal,
he's gonna be the best running back in the league.
He had an incredible rookie season where he had eleven
touchdowns and thirteen hundred yards rushing, but since then he's
had trouble staying health, the trouble staying productive. He had
another big year two years ago. But the Giants are like, Okay,
we've had you out for six years. We haven't won anything.
We're moving on.

Speaker 4 (10:08):
But now a.

Speaker 1 (10:08):
Motivated guy who is up over eleven hundred yards rushing
now for the season, he's averaging six yards of carry,
he's got eight touchdowns. Anything that the Eagles need. When
the Eagles need something, it is not Jalen Hurts, make
a play, fine, aj Brown, find DeVante Smith. This is
get the ball to Saquon Barkley. When we're not playing

(10:28):
well as a team, and we played dead from the
neck up in the first half, We're going to give
the ball to Saquon Barkley in the second half. Barkley
is the guy that makes this team go. And you
want to make it part of the discussion of well,
you have two great players on the Ravens, they may
split the votes.

Speaker 4 (10:42):
Yeah, I'm not taking anything.

Speaker 1 (10:44):
Both those guys have been phenomenal, right, but Saquon Barkley
simply is doing everything for the Eagles, both on and
off the field. And I can't believe I never thought
i'd say this. I never thought i'd say this. But
if I'm looking for who the MVP of the league
is right now, yeah, six yards of carry. This is
gonna be his fifth six hundred yard game. I mean,

(11:05):
he has been fantastic all season long, and the Eagles
are doing it on his back.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (11:11):
I mean, I'll subscribe to your newsletter. He ain't winning
the award. He's at it like one hundred to one
right now. So if you want to jump on board,
that jump on board that you got Jackson, Alan Mahomes,
Jalen Hurts twelve or thirteen to one, Kyler Murray, Jayden Daniels,
Jared Goff, Joe Burrow, Rock Perty, Sam Donald, C. J. Stroud,

(11:31):
Justin Herbert. That's the first part. Cousins love Henry Mayfield
Smith even with because of betting odds being as silly
as they are. We start getting down into the CADB.
Williams territory. That's where Saquon are, That's where Saquon Barkley's
odds are As we sit here tonight, you're still looking
at I've seen see him anywhere from seventy five to

(11:53):
one to.

Speaker 2 (11:54):
One hundred and fifty to one.

Speaker 4 (11:55):
I think that will change in a large way after tonight.

Speaker 1 (11:57):
Look, sometimes it's you need to do it on national team,
and when you do it on national TV, people take
notice of what you're doing. Okay, these odds need to
come down here a little bit because he's been he's
been better, He's done more than Derrick Henry has. I mean, yes,
it's gonna be tough because he's a running back. And
is it gonna be easy to win? No, of course not.
But if you are saying voting aside, oh, the MVP

(12:19):
of the league is right now, I can't give anybody
else in say Kuon Barkley.

Speaker 5 (12:23):
Yeah, he was plus three ten to score two touchdowns
tonight though, so he got that going for you?

Speaker 4 (12:27):
Did you have that? Did you get too touchdown?

Speaker 2 (12:28):
I didn't.

Speaker 5 (12:29):
I think I think Steve did not. He was seen
jumping in the news update desk.

Speaker 4 (12:34):
Oh that's good.

Speaker 6 (12:35):
Okay.

Speaker 5 (12:36):
Now in terms of the MVP odds, though, look, we
we go on to go to Offensive Player the Year
Hods where we get some of that fun. Then yeah,
maybe maybe we we go there. You know the two
distinct awards that they do, so maybe he can win
that one, but he won't win the hallowed MVP award.
It's just a way these guys vote.

Speaker 1 (12:56):
I know, I know, I know, I know, but but
I'm telling you he's the MVP in the one vote
Jason Smith World, He's the MVP.

Speaker 4 (13:05):
He's your MVP. Not even voting for Aaron Rodgers, i'mvoting
for sake Kauon.

Speaker 5 (13:09):
You look, you can't even vote for him for best
sound Bite? Sure touch day after Jazzy and Mike Tyson. No,
I cannot even on the metal stand anymore. Do you
want to come back next year?

Speaker 6 (13:19):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (13:19):
I think so. Look at that? How great was that?

Speaker 5 (13:22):
What a great response. It's too bad you missed Jason
Cole's response to that.

Speaker 1 (13:28):
Squon, But I never saw this kind of year coming
from sa Quon Barkley. The Jason Smithso with Mike Carmon
lockedthetirack dot Com studios. Hey, if you sent any of

Speaker 1 (13:48):
Just search Jason Smith and Mike Harmon wherever you get
your podcast from, and you'll see today's show posted right
after we get off the air. Right now, twenty six
to sixteen, the commanders get in the ends.

Speaker 4 (14:00):
They're reviewing the two point conversion was ruled incomplete on
the field.

Speaker 2 (14:04):
I'll save you the time.

Speaker 4 (14:06):
However, zach Ertz keeps saying I caught it.

Speaker 1 (14:07):
I caught it. I caught it. So it looks like
we may get a reversal on this. If it does,
it makes the on side kick really interesting. It's a
great catch by him staying in bounds with the defenders
right in front of him, with his back to it.

Speaker 4 (14:20):
He's got no real estate in the back of the
end zone.

Speaker 1 (14:23):
This is an unreal catch by Erz to make this
a one score game. So we're gonna get likely if
this is reversed, we're gonna have an interesting on sidekick
because it will be a one score game.

Speaker 4 (14:33):
But again, with on side kicks, we don't get a lot.
And here we are. It is official. It is an
on site.

Speaker 1 (14:39):
It is a good point after try two point conversion.
So twenty six eighteen thirty seconds left to go on
sidekick coming for the Commanders coming up next? Are we
talking about an unreal overtime matchup?

Speaker 4 (14:55):
Are we talking more? Barkley MVP? Eagles?

Speaker 1 (14:58):
How are they doing this? Other big games in the
NFL this weekend, Two incredibly huge games we gotta get to.
We got Jay Glazer coming up. I feel like the
show is just starting. Keep it right here, Jason and

Speaker 5 (15:35):
The best reaction such such grave news that you've ever heard.

Speaker 4 (15:39):
Right, We're all gonna We're all gonna die. We're all
gonna die. Uh.

Speaker 1 (15:47):
Eagles hold on to beat the Commanders twenty six to eighteen,
game and a half lead.

Speaker 4 (15:52):
Now for them in the NFC East joining us now.

Speaker 1 (15:55):
The hotline to break it all down is nobody better
NFL on Fox Inside are extraordinary.

Speaker 4 (16:01):
You can fall him on Twitter.

Speaker 1 (16:02):
At Jay Glazer. It is the aforementioned Jake Lazer. What's up, buddy,
what's going on?

Speaker 6 (16:07):
How we're doing good?

Speaker 2 (16:08):
Fantastic?

Speaker 4 (16:09):
Before we get to.

Speaker 1 (16:10):
The game, I wanted to ask, you know, are you
excited about this Tyson, Jake Paul fight tomorrow at all?

Speaker 4 (16:15):
Something about you?

Speaker 6 (16:16):
Yeah? Absolutely absolutely, man, any time I can watch My
Time to fight. Yeah, you know, people ask me what
I thought about it. And you know, Mike what maybe
Mike great is man when he let that beast out
of the box, but he said, you know, Hell's coming
with him. He's an annihilator, right he was. He was
just a different level and I think he's done so
much work to put that beast back in the box.

(16:39):
And he he is. He went from one of the best,
you know, fighters of all time to one of the
best motivational speakers. Are not trying to be If you
guys go watch some of his videos are incredible. But
he talks about you know, how kind of how Damon's
jar between the years and he's kind of navigating like
now going forward. But you know, I've told people he's

(17:01):
done so much work to put the vast in the box.
If he stays in there, he's not going to win.
And if he lets it out, he's older, So I
don't know how that's going to affect him. But that's
the Mike Tyson, that was the annihilator, and I got
to say this to him the other the other end,
Jake Paul actually trained with us and Unbreakable and early on,

(17:22):
and I thought he was going to be this dag off,
cocky kid. He actually wasn't. He was. He was the
most humble dude, and he trained with me Randy get
toward a Navy sealman Jared Shaw, and like, we let
him train with us with the way don't him let
him box with us because he was new and the
way he kind of we do it. We just put

(17:43):
so much pressure on you. We don't want him getting
pissed with us or throwing up or not coming back
or swing it away, because that's how we do it.
We put like a relentless amount of pressure on you.
And but man, now let's see what he's done. Like, listen,
people want to wreck on j Big Paul boxers when
they made their way up into the boxing, you know,

(18:06):
in their career. You always get put with these Patsy's
for like the first ten, fifteen, twenty fights in your career.
You know, early on you'll fight guys who are like
four and twenty two. Right, So when he's done, he's
nice front a bunch of MMA guys. What he's done
is way more than every other top prospect, but they
they've ever done on their way up like they you know, again,

(18:27):
your first ten fights are guys who have like single
digit wins and usually double digital offices. So it's, uh,
I'm interested to see it. But he works his tell off.

Speaker 4 (18:36):
It really does, all right, So before we get to
the game, give give us a prediction. What's your prediction
for the fight tomorrow?

Speaker 6 (18:43):
Well, again, I don't know. Like I saw Smack Jake,
you know, I'm like, hey, and just his interviews like
that interviewed that little girl, like seeing Kayle Beasts out
the box.

Speaker 4 (18:54):
Yeah, yeah, we're going to die. We're all gonna die.
Ask me these questions. We're all going to die.

Speaker 2 (18:59):
Yeah, what appro she is?

Speaker 6 (19:01):
No, it came to me that beast is out of
the box. But at this age, like you know, I'm
not sure, like Jake very smart, It would be very
smart to him to stay away, stay away, stay away,
and just try and guess Mike later on. But man,
if you at leass hell, he'll knock out anybody. I'm
going to Tyson.

Speaker 4 (19:21):
There we go, all, let's get to Bye.

Speaker 6 (19:24):
By the way. By the way real quick. Do you
see that when you guys are walking to die? You guys,
ever see that that goof you could Shepherd Smith his
web his weather report when he said if you were made,
you guys got a Google. If you remain here, you're
gonna die.

Speaker 5 (19:39):
And what you know?

Speaker 6 (19:41):
Oh yeah, you guys, if you have not seen this,
go google Shepherd Smith's weather reports. Unbelievable. We're all gonna die.

Speaker 1 (19:49):
Jake lazy with us here Fox Sports, and again, thank
you so much for sharing that.

Speaker 4 (19:53):
Jason Smith.

Speaker 1 (19:55):
Yeah, we already got We already got Jazzy's as a
drop on the show, Jay, We're rolling.

Speaker 6 (19:59):
I love it.

Speaker 4 (20:00):
Uh Now now look tonight.

Speaker 1 (20:01):
We watched the Eagles not quite motivated in the first half.
They throw the hammer down in the second half, and Jay,
I got to be honest as great a year as
Lamar Jackson is having. This is the best version we've
seen of him coming into the league. It's hard to
me to nart thing. Saquon Barkley with what he's doing
is not the MVP of the NFL right now. He
has done everything for this Eagles team since he's come in.

Speaker 6 (20:22):
I think he's done a really good job there. Yeah,
I don't know about m VP. Just you know, talk
about Lamar, but also why is always talking about Patrick
like they're undefeated? We'll just forget about it. But also
with you know what, Derek Hembery's out over there. However, Yes,
I think Lamar, I mean I think that that Saquan
is such a great pickup for them. It's exactly what

(20:44):
Jalen deeds, you know, Jalen like a guy like Jalen.
We kind of needs things to slow down. To have
a guy like what uh Saquon back there and then
you can't just focus and tee off on. Jalen is
fantastic for them.

Speaker 2 (20:58):
James look at the squad.

Speaker 6 (21:00):
And they love the to locker hum, they love me,
the locker room, they love them.

Speaker 5 (21:03):
Twenty six to eighteen Your final tonight Eagles moved to
eight and two behind the big Barkley explosion. Are they
second only to the Lions in the NFC in your estimation?

Speaker 6 (21:15):
I think the Niners gonna be back up there again.
You know they with Jell later on. But yeah, well,
look thinking about Philly though, it's they kind of almost
getting the aw ways like the sky's always falling.

Speaker 2 (21:27):
Yeah, but I look at it.

Speaker 6 (21:28):
They started two and two this year and everybody wanted
everybody fired, like you couldn't come together. It's just that
it always is. I mean, they r and Andy Reid
out of town, Peterson has that Super Bowl Just it's
how it is. It just gets there's so much noise
that they can keep the noise at a minimum. Then yes, absolutely,
personal wise, they're fantastic.

Speaker 1 (21:49):
Now, Jay, look at that you mentioned you mentioned Patrick Mahomes. Obviously,
that's the game of the week this week, Buffalo and
the Chiefs. Josh Allen's had really good success in the
regular season against the Chiefs. The Chiefs have been playing
extremely well, finishing stuff in the fourth quarter. What do
you think looking at that? I mean, this is the
game of the year so far. What do you think
about looking at I.

Speaker 6 (22:08):
Think it's a fantastic game. But yeah, I mean I
think it's the type of a measuring stiff game for Buffalo.
You know, it's uh. You know it's interesting too because
I remember during the drafts, like Buffalo, this is where
they have to try and to get above right that
got beat the Chiefs. But then when the first round comes,
the Chiefs call them make a deal for Worthy, and

(22:31):
I always crashed my head of that code. Why would
you ever? I don't care what they were giving up,
do anything to help King Kong, But that's who you're
trying to beat, and they're the ones who made the
trade that allow the Chiefs get Worthy. So I've always
kind of like, huh, I wonder why I would like.
I know, you want to get extra draft picks, but
I don't care what it is. If you're if it's

(22:52):
King Kong, you need to knock off the empire stable
and it's calling you the man we can improve our
team by moving up. There's no I would have done.

Speaker 5 (23:02):
Jay the one of the other massive games of the week,
Mike Tomlin and the Steelers home dogs to the Baltimore Ravens.
The aforementioned Lamar Jackson, but between the Hey refer to
him as mister Jackson when asked about Jade Williams and
j Daniels. And now you move into this week, what's
he got cooking for him?

Speaker 6 (23:22):
I mean, I love this matchup, but obviously, you know, look,
they're both cultures are violence, and I think I don't
know if I told you guys just be like whatever
I go around camp, I don't know what's going on, Like,
I don't know what you're working on for that day,
and we have no idea. But if people will go,
how do we look today?

Speaker 4 (23:39):
Who is? Wait? Who is it that you told the
one time? How do you guys look? Man? You guys
look terrible.

Speaker 1 (23:45):
It's the worst team by saying and they thought you
were Seriously, who did you say that to?

Speaker 6 (23:48):
I forgot who was? I don't know what I'm looking at.

Speaker 4 (23:55):
You guys are gonna suck this year? Wait what?

Speaker 6 (23:59):
I don't remember?

Speaker 4 (23:59):
Who was? WHOA?

Speaker 6 (24:01):
I can feel culture and both the Steelers actually the
three teams that I felt this culture of violence. And
I didn't go to the lines this year, but I
know they have it. But the Steelers, the Ravens and
Eagles just had it and they were just itching to
smash somebody and that's what you want, that's what you know, Mike.
He's a culture guy, right, John Harravad was a culture guy.

(24:22):
They're not these offensive theorus that people try to bring
in their culture guys. And they are a very similar
culture in that is a culture of violence.

Speaker 4 (24:32):
Now, I know you had the big guest this week
on Veterans Day. You had a in.

Speaker 1 (24:37):
Your words, badass Special Operations are a ranger on.

Speaker 4 (24:40):
Tell us about your guest this week.

Speaker 6 (24:43):
Oh, J C. Glick Man. He's incredible. He's done a
countless missions overseas. He is a true American hero and
badass and three Bronze Stars and several other medals, and
he was always in the thick of it. But he
is a thoughtful warrior like he and I have really Uh,
I've been a lot and we've helped a lot of
He was part of my MVT foundation for a while,

(25:06):
but we've helped a lot of other veterans. After the
uniform comes off, we held some athletes together. But he
is just when he talks for what his experiences are
you listen, and we talked about this on the podcast.
But the first time we hung out man at the
NFL Owners meeting. We're talking to all the owners, and

(25:27):
but we hung out in New York be him and
I think Randy could tour and there was a guy
there something, there's somebody there. The story came up where
he ran into this guy, an Iraqi guy. He looked
down and he says, he looks at these tattoos of
this guy's hand, and he says, uh, you don't remember
what we do you we met before the guys like

(25:49):
we have. He's like Sam's palace. I was the one
who snatched you out of there. He literally said, Tom,
you know penseel ops. Guys, that's about extracted him. Like
it's a bad dude right here. So listen to him
because as the thing is, though, I always to tell
you guys like no one's questioned my mandlin, So I

(26:10):
can be vulnerable, right, I could open up about all stuff.
J C glicks the same way. You're not gonna question
his manhood. That has bat afrey. So he really opens
up about some cool stuff.

Speaker 1 (26:20):
Unbreakable a Mental Wealth podcast and get the link right
off of Jay's Twitter account.

Speaker 4 (26:25):
At Jake Laser. Oh, I buried the lead.

Speaker 1 (26:27):
Jay, I saw you brought your wife to the Rams.
Game the other night. Did you actually do work?

Speaker 6 (26:33):
Well?

Speaker 4 (26:33):
She was with it? Was it like a date night
or like, did you know they don't like what happens.

Speaker 6 (26:37):
Let me tell you the deal. She goes to RAMS
games with Chalmsvay's wife, Veronica McVey, and she's three and
oh she was going to the game. Wow. So I
didn't want to go to the game. And though like,
oh no, she going to the game, like Sean gets
all superstitial. Oh no, she's going to the game. So
we had no choice. Better go to the game. And uh,

(26:58):
well she's out three and one.

Speaker 5 (27:00):
We're not Wait wait, what's your record at the games?

Speaker 6 (27:05):
I don't go to games overly, but it was credit.
It's great being out there. You know what. I love
being out there for those things. I get to the
fam and and why I say the fam, all these
cats in the NFL, that's my fam.

Speaker 4 (27:17):
Again. Great stuff from Jay on Twitter at Jay Glazer. Buddy,
keep fighting the good fight as always. Man, We'll talk
to you next week. Have fun.

Speaker 6 (27:23):
Hey, Rosie, I just Rosie. I just outed you as
being three and one. Sorry, and again, thank you so
much for shaying that you're the best.

Speaker 4 (27:32):
Jay. See you, buddy. Yeah, now Rosie can't go to
the games anymore. She's done well.

Speaker 5 (27:37):
But that's why I had to ask if that was
his first game, they can pin the loss on him,
bod was he getting churse text from McVeigh after that one?

Speaker 1 (27:44):
They're gonna Eric Dickerson herd. No, you can't go to
the games.

Speaker 5 (27:48):
You get no Disneyland passes or anything else. Yeah, you're done.

Speaker 4 (27:52):
You can't go to Disneyland.

Speaker 2 (27:54):
That was part of the Dickerson day.

Speaker 6 (27:56):
Man.

Speaker 4 (27:56):
No, I know, I know, I know.

Speaker 6 (27:59):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (27:59):
Now to a man who's definitely banned from disney Land.
He's told me many times, not allowed within one hundred yards.
It's Steve de Seger with what's trending?

Speaker 2 (28:07):
Wow? Don't where to go?

Speaker 4 (28:10):
Wow?

Speaker 2 (28:12):
Left? Steve's speechless there.

Speaker 4 (28:14):
Well, what happened? Well, I'll tell you what happened.

Speaker 1 (28:16):
Steve went over and ordered one of the dull pineapple
whips and accidentally walked away with twelve of them.

Speaker 4 (28:23):
Accidentally walked away and they caught him.

Speaker 2 (28:25):
And this is where you play the orange whip Orange ripe. Nice,
there we go.

Speaker 4 (28:31):
Twelve orange rips got him.

Speaker 6 (28:32):
Great.

Speaker 4 (28:33):
I'm gonna take it with you right now.

Speaker 7 (28:34):
You had mentioned sa Quon Barkley six one hundred yard
rushing games this season. That's the most in the NFL.
He had six of those with the Giants combined the
last four years. Philadelphia has won six straight games after
beating Washington tonight twenty six to eighteen. Barkley with two
touchdown runs in the fourth quarter, one hundred and forty
six yards rushing in this when plus two catches for

(28:57):
fifty two yards. As for Washington's rookie quarterback Jade and Daniels,
one late TD pass, one interception, Terry McLaurin just one catch,
he was completely shut down by the rookie Quinyon Mitchell.
So Barkley is the star in this one. He has
the most yards rushing in Eagles history through ten games
of a season, and in fact, in the NFL, most

(29:18):
yards rushing through ten games of any team in the
last decade. Eagles trailed ten to three in the third quarter,
but led twenty six to ten late. Chiefs kicker Harrison
Butker will reportedly miss three to four weeks. He'll have
a procedure on his left knee. Arthroscopic Surgery Commissioner Roger
Goodell says an increase to sixteen international games per year

(29:41):
will be tied to an eighteen game schedule per team.
Within five years, he hopes to expand the regular season schedule,
and that would cut another exhibition game. Each will require
an agreement with the players Union. A reminder Friday night
on Fox TV Ucla at Washington on FS one late Friday,
Arizona hosts Houston. One NBA game tonight at Utah the Jazz.

(30:03):
We're two to one and we're winless at home, but
got a narrow victory against Dallas one fifteen one thirteen.
Kyrie Irving in the MAVs was out with a shoulder injury.
Luka Donsich thirty seven points in the loss. Among the
ten NHL games, Winnipeg was fifteen to one, but was
beaten at Tampa Bay four to one. New Jersey and
the Rangers each one Dallas seven to two over Boston.

(30:25):
The Tampa Bay Rays will play their home games next
year at the Yankee Spring Training Stadium in Tampa. Tropicana
Field was significantly damaged by Hurricane Milton last month and
is not expected to be repaired until twenty twenty six.
US mens Soccer won at Jamaica one nothing and its
Nations League quarterfinal opener. They'll play each other again on
Monday in Saint Louis semis of that tournament in March

(30:47):
in LA in South American World Cup qualifying tonight, Paraguay
beat Argentina two to one after trailing one nothing early.
Argentina had seventy seven percent of the possession, did not
win the game, and no Top twenty five contests.

Speaker 1 (31:00):
In Can't you just replace Argentina with Miami and MLS
and you'd have the same story, wouldn't you have that?

Speaker 6 (31:07):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (31:08):
And it would be messy with both teams?

Speaker 4 (31:10):
Okay, yeah, good.

Speaker 7 (31:11):
By the way they were saying, the guy who manages
the national team in Paraguay was saying literally they were
not going to allow anybody in a visiting jersey to
sit except for the small visitors section that they were
going to have at the stadium. No messy jerseys, no
Argentine professional clubs, no light blue anything.

Speaker 4 (31:34):
What if I had a Uruguay jersey? Could I do that? Yeah?

Speaker 7 (31:36):
Apparently that's okay tonight.

Speaker 2 (31:38):
Okay, Argentina is the opponent of the evening set.

Speaker 4 (31:40):
All right, good luck? Yes? Okay? Great?

Speaker 7 (31:43):
Ok We did have one college basketball game of note
Missouri one eleven to thirty nine winners over Mississippi Valley State,
which finished with thirteen baskets and twenty three turnovers.

Speaker 4 (31:55):
But all of those baskets were by Jerry Rice.

Speaker 7 (31:58):
If only they had, they finished with one three pointer
made in forty minutes, one eleven thirty nine. The final
back to you.

Speaker 1 (32:08):
Thank you, Steve O The Jason Smithson with Mike Carmon
live from the Tire Rag Top Cop Studios. Thanks to

how we played tonight, and we're gonna tell you relax,
everything is fine. That's next Jason and Mike Fox Well,

Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with My best friend
Mike Harmon live from the tire rack dot Com Studios.
We'll have more on the craziness coming off to Mike Tyson,
Jake Pault, stuff from today coming up in a little
bit less than fifteen minutes. Because Wow, even though I'm
not into the fight, I was into today today you
are now. Yeah, step on my foot. I'll tell you

(33:43):
a little bit more. But tonight Monday Night Thursday Night Football.
Thanks to Jay Glazer for stopping by. If you miss
Jay Glazer, his visits are always a must listen. Get
it on our podcast. It goes up right after the
show is over. Wherever you get your podcast from just
search Jason Smith and Mike Harmon. It will be there.
Great visit from Jay as always. Now we spent a
lot of time talking about Philadelphia and Barkley and the

(34:05):
unevenness of the Eagles, but being able to out talent
teams because they are just that good guy who's gonna
get a lot of criticism. Tonight is Jaden Daniels, and
tonight was not one of his better games, and it
looked like he had a tough time. I don't want
to say scene downfield, but it looked like the coverages
may have had him a little bit hesitant. He didn't

(34:26):
look good delivering the football. This is probably the first
time this year, or I could say wow, you know,
or maybe the second time this year, or I could say,
oh wow, he just really he really looked it looked
difficult for him.

Speaker 2 (34:39):
Well, the Bears did a really good job until they didn't.

Speaker 1 (34:42):
Yeah that's true, You're right, No, they did, and just
got to cover that hail Mary.

Speaker 2 (34:47):
Uh those plays, you know, yeah, you got it even
without that Hail Mary.

Speaker 1 (34:53):
He had a good game against the Bears. His last
couple of games have not been great, right. He struggled
against Pittsburgh, but still they nearly won the game, and
he struggled tonight, not as much offense, and he's gonna
get a lot of blame in Jade and Daniels all
of this. Everybody's gotta just relax about this kid.

Speaker 4 (35:10):
He is a star. He has shown more in the
first ten games of his NFL career than three quarters
of the quarterbacks who came into the league in the
last two years and they're on their second year.

Speaker 1 (35:20):
Oh just wait, just wait. You have to flash, you
have to show you can dominate. Has Jayden Daniels done that?
Absol freaking lutely. He has shown his skill set is incredible.
He has built for this. Like I only needed to
see maybe two or three games of dominance Reiman and
I would say, Okay, he's gonna be fine. The NFL
will adjust to him, then he will adjust back. But

(35:41):
I've seen seven eight games where, man, you know, if
you're doing that first pick overall pick again, it's we
take jaydon tails and at Caleb Williams. But he has
been phenomenal this year. Yeah, a couple of bad games,
It's gonna happen once in a while. When you're rookie
in the NFL, you're gonna hit the wall a little
bit as well. Again, he's gonna be playing more football
than he's ever played in his life this year, and

(36:01):
he's getting to the point where in college this was
near the end of the year for him. Instead, Hey, no,
we're just we're not even We're not even in the
middle of November yet. Man, we got another a couple
of months to go. Jaydon keep going here, buddy. So
there is gonna be a little bit of a slowdown
for him, and it's expected to happen. Now, will it
be the rest of the season.

Speaker 4 (36:18):
I doubt it.

Speaker 1 (36:19):
He's too talented. He'll bounce back. He'll have a better
end of the season because now it's his time to
readjust to what defenses are doing.

Speaker 4 (36:26):
But he has shown enough. This kid's gonna be. He's
already a star.

Speaker 1 (36:29):
There's no reason to think that suddenly, oh something happened
and he's being he's being His skills are being covered
up and teams know how to deal with them.

Speaker 4 (36:40):
Now.

Speaker 1 (36:41):
No, this is this is part of your education as
an NFL quarterback. And when you think that the commanders
don't even really have any weapons to build around him yet,
like they didn't know this is gonna be a year
we were gonna be good. Yeah, we're gonna go with
Austin Eckler as our number two running back, and we
have wide receivers that may not even see the ball
and Terry McLaurin with his worst game of the year.

Speaker 4 (37:00):
They just have a bunch of no.

Speaker 2 (37:01):
But we can't have it both ways though, because coming into.

Speaker 5 (37:06):
Coming in though, Jason, there was a lot of discussion
of hey, they've got a pretty good compliment of receivers
and running back to where they'll over it. They'll overachieve
based on the low win total. You said that I
knew these guys were all Jags coming in.

Speaker 2 (37:19):
Well they're at seven wins.

Speaker 5 (37:21):
Yeah, exactly, and then today they don't bother none, and
today they don't bother to throw the ball to Terry McLaurin.
That's where I want to know the Kingsbury versus Vic
Fangio battle. When we get into a game where you
throw the ball thirty two times and he's got two targets.

Speaker 1 (37:35):
Yeah, look he's gonna have lot. I say, he's I
can't defend him. Tonight he had a bad game tonight.
He did not deliver the ball. Well, he didn't look
like he was confident with what he saw downfield. It's
gonna happen. But I mean, you're looking at it at
a guy who is near the top of the as
a team, near the top of the NFCS, when no
one expected them to do anything this year, and they
haven't even built around him yet, Like, okay, what do

(37:55):
we need to build it.

Speaker 4 (37:56):
Let's see Jade and Daniel's play. Okay, now he played.

Speaker 1 (37:59):
This is the kind of wide receiver we have to
go after, right, this is the kind of tight end
we need. This is the kind of running game we need.
It was basically, let's just throw this out there and
see if it works. And it's worked better than anybody
has thought so far. But this is this is being
this successful without a real off season of Okay, he's
the centerpiece to what we do. We know what he does. Now,
let's go out and get somebody, right. Well, we see

(38:19):
the story a couple weeks ago. People really want to
come play with him. They love how he.

Speaker 5 (38:23):
Wow, that was planned by an ESPN guy that has
interest in the team in Bob Myers.

Speaker 1 (38:28):
Yeah, but look, this is this is a kid that
everybody's gonna want to come play with they're gonna go
get big weapons. All of a sudden, Washington went from
you don't want to be there too. Hey, now we're
a destination And it's all because of that.

Speaker 5 (38:41):
No, it is a beautiful thing to get away from
the Dan Snyder era and start to rebuild and refocus.
You brought in an adult to lead things, and dan
Quinn and Kingsbury with all the jobs. And look, we'll
never know for fact, you know what happened in any
of the interviews and phone calls that happen with other squads,
Bears amongst others, that led him to find his way

(39:05):
to Washington. But you know, decent core of receivers and
tight ends. Terry mclaurin's I think we've all agreed he's
at least a back end one. If we're ranking guys
to where he's in that twelve to fifteen range, I
think is fair to say. But when we look at
where they are going forward, Yeah, they b who's on

(39:27):
the schedule that's been lesser than that's all seven of
their wins are against teams that were now swirling to
the bottom. But you know what, you bt who's on
the schedule and if you had six and a half.
You've already cast your ticket. With so many games left
to go, it's going to be fun to watch his
growth when they bring in a true one A or
one depending on your likely liking next to McLaurin next year.

Speaker 1 (39:49):
Exit out about a Fresca exit swollen down The Jason
Smith Show with Mike Harmon, live from the tireq dot
com Studios. We'll have more NFL on the way, more
reaction to this game, but straight ahead the craziness today
between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson. It's about a slap
and an interview and you're not gonna believe it.

Speaker 4 (40:09):
That's next, right to hear Jason to Mike. This is
