Speaker 2 (00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
Greetings and welcome in our four of the program. Man,
it moves so fast, especially when you're watching magnetic resonance,
the greatness of sporting competitions. What I'm talking about the
NBA Cup? What are you talking about, Barry?

Speaker 4 (00:42):
You better be talking about the Cup. I was a
little little worried.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
Oh college football. And of course take Paul like Tyson
and again, thank you so much for staying that. Thank you, Jazzy.
We're broadcasting live from the ti Raq dot com studios.
Tire rack dot com will help you get there. An
unmatched selection, fast free show, Big Free Road has a
protection over ten thousand recommended installers. Tire act dot com

(01:05):
the way tire buying should be. Yeah, you're still salty
about sitting there for that for fight night. Yeah, it
was glitchy, it was chaotic, it was, but we shared
an experience we did right us in the studio with
the frustrated audience at home trying to figure out what
round really it was, whether they'd ripped into a matrix

(01:28):
and the walls of reality had crashed around them. All
of that to say, it's now done.

Speaker 4 (01:35):
Do you think I was the frothiest person who watched
this fight?

Speaker 3 (01:39):
Well? Yeah, I mean Steve had a giant tucking underneath
him out Alex just as afraid for the state of humanity.

Speaker 4 (01:49):
Me too, But I mean just the just the pure sizzling,
the frothing up process. I got more and more angry
as we watched, and as I watched right.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
Yeah, no, I watched you round by round get a
little saltier as things slowed down, and as Steve gave
us in his last last news desk update, was you know,
talking about the percentage of punches landed and how woefully
small it was, to the point where it was barely
above you and I sitting in a studio two thousand miles.

Speaker 4 (02:23):
I'll hit you twice. You did tonight. You did.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
It's on camera, like, it's all recorded, so it's all
going to come back on it. You'll be hearing from
HR and my lawyers any day now. Although I probably
deserved it for something I said somewhere along the way,
or at least the way I was brought up. Yeah,
I had it coming had you had to wear it
every once in a while. But you know what, Let's

(02:48):
turn our attention back to sporting contests with more gravity,
with more weight. Let's go out to the hotline. That's
our body. Mark Stein joins us at the Steinline where
you find him in the Twitter verse as he joins
us talking all things cup and the greatness that is
the Cleveland Cavaliers with another resounding win. How are you, Mark.

Speaker 5 (03:10):
Ken some I'm good. Where Jason did he go to
the fight?

Speaker 4 (03:13):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (03:13):
No, I think his daughter had the opening night of
a play. But I wish I'd had him at the
fight because I think he would have been a great
correspondent to try to sell me on it.

Speaker 5 (03:24):
Yeah, he would have had to do a lot of selling.

Speaker 3 (03:26):
But I did you get sucked in?

Speaker 5 (03:29):
I watched I watched every second.

Speaker 4 (03:31):
Mark, you watched every second as well.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
So give us, give us your uh give us your
thirty on it? What did you think of the spectacle
in the undercard?

Speaker 5 (03:43):
Well, there was no spectacle, I mean, but you had
to you know, if you're you know, I'm in my
fifties and grew up with vintage Tyson. So for the
you know, as I'm sure a zillion people my age
are saying, to watch a Tyson fight with one of
my two boys was here with me tonight's where we'll
watch a Tyson fighte with my kid. It's certainly not

(04:04):
something that I was planning on. So from that perspective alone,
had to dial into it and the yeah, I'm sure
you guys are ready to talk NBA.

Speaker 3 (04:14):
Well, but I mean that's what I was on the
Bingo card with it, though, Mark, I agree with you.
It's like I had to watch it, all right, and
it became a thing that look at cut through the clutter.
We've got a lot of sports going on, and obviously
the beginning of the next iteration of the NBA Cup
is there. But yeah, for all of us that grew
up in that time, Yeah, the legend's been gone since

(04:34):
Buster Douglas, but doesn't mean you still don't want to
see it, even if you were a hate watching Jake.

Speaker 5 (04:39):
Paul, and I gotta be honest with you, guys. If
I'm the correspondent you chose to hype up the NBA Cup,
I'm probably not the choice of you because I look
the basketball itself. No, it's been a tremendous week in
the NBA with Wemby going for fifty and It's going
for fifty nine and now the yearn Fox going for

(05:01):
sixty tonight and Cleveland getting to fourteen to oh. But
I'm not attaching any of this as a by product
of the NBA Cup. Like you know, I'm again I'm
I'm a major curmudgeon about this whole thing because I'm
a soccer snob and I really I want a cup competition.
I want a real tournament of some sort with more

(05:25):
knockout games and something that actually looks like what we
see in international soccer, and just philosophically, when basically these
are sixty group play is sixty regular season games that
are counted twice. And that's why it's just like I'm
I can't It's it's just not a Cup in its

(05:48):
current form. I'm just being honest with you guys, And
like I said, if you guys like it or if
the listeners like it, don't let me rain on the parade.
But sixty the sixty six of the sixty seven games
in this tournament are regular season games. That counts twice,
and I have a big problem with that. Like, to me,

(06:08):
at the minimum, like there are no other teams in
the Cup from any other league. It's the same thirty
teams we always see. East and West don't mix until
the championship game, just like in the NBA Finals. There's
just there's nothing different about the NBA Cup except the
courts and that we call it the NBA Cup. Now

(06:28):
when it gets to Vegas, when we're in the semis,
when we have four teams in Vegas, okay, now it's
a tournament in the last two rounds, it is something.
So to me, at the minimum, what we should do is,
let's take all thirty teams to Vegas and let's just
do this in a week, single elimination, draw the teams
out of a hat. Let's, you know, so we can

(06:51):
get you know, a matchup where you know, the fourteen
and o Calves are stunned by the Pistons in the
NBA Cup. Now we have now it is something different,
and so like I said, this is just this is
probably not the sermon and the rants that you guys
were expecting, because, like I said, there have there's a
lot of amazing stuff happening in the league this week,
you know, with we just you know again, dearon Fox

(07:13):
erupting for sixty to night, going head to head with
Aunt Edwards, Minnesota already desperate and winning that game, the
Cavs getting a fourteen. Oh so, a lot of good
stuff has been happening. But I just I'm not going
to I am not going to say that the NBA
Cup is the inspiration.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
No, but that's how I subscribe to your newsletter. I'm
first on the board at mark Stein dot substack dot com.

Speaker 4 (07:34):
No, it's crazy, Mark, I got a question for I
got a two part questions for you. Number one, what's
up with the documental new the new mascot there at
number one? That's number one. And number two, I want
to know how good it's Cleveland. Obviously they're fourteen and
OHO and it seems like a real big, a real
big bounce back here for Garland. But can you can
you elaborate those two things for me?

Speaker 5 (07:56):
I'm much I'm much better equipped to answer the Cleveland question,
focus on that. I mean, look, it's look, this has
been a pretty rough start for the league in terms
of just there's been a zillion injuries. I mean from
a week into training camp until now, there's been almost

(08:17):
no letup. So we've been dealing with a lot of injuries,
and then obviously just the very worrisome and scary Greg
Popovich situation span Antonio. So like the cab and also,
I think the other thing here is, you know, Milwaukee
and Philly were immediately thrown into crisis, and like those headlines,
all those headlines have just dominated, you know, because Philly lost.

(08:40):
Philly is two and ten after it's lost tonight, and
so the Calves really haven't gotten their just due in
terms of recognition and attention for what they're doing. And
it is it. Look, it's been a long You have
to go all the way back to the Warriors twenty
four and oh start in twenty fifteen sixteen, which I

(09:01):
will always say, even though that team didn't win the title,
that twenty four and oh start is one of the
most amazing things I've ever seen. I covered a ton
of it or Sports Center in those days, and that
like I said that twenty four and oh start seventy
three win seasons. Okay, that team didn't win a title,
but in my three decades of doing this, those achievements

(09:22):
were as wild and as memorable as anything I've covered
and will always stay with me. And you know, you
guys know I'm based in Dallas, So the fourteen and
O maps team and O two oh three I covered
that team as well, So it's like to see to
see another fourteen and oh start. And I did not
think Cleveland was going to start like this. And you know, Max,

(09:45):
they haven't had Max Struce for any of it, and
Screws is one of their really few established floor spacers
coming into the season. But Kenny Atkinson has had such
an impact there. They've taken Donovan Mitchell's minutes down. Mitchell
and Garland are function better together than they ever have.

Speaker 3 (10:02):
Yeah, and they're.

Speaker 5 (10:02):
Getting the most out of Evan Mobley that they ever have,
especially offensively, and tonight they didn't have Mobley either, So
you know, fourteen and zero is truly a special achievement.
And I can't remember too many years in my past
that a coach could wrap up Coach of the Year
by Thanksgiving, and it's not wrapped up on being facetious.

(10:24):
But he's he's doing He's Kenny Atkinson has a very
nice lead in the Coach of the Year race already.

Speaker 3 (10:32):
And again it's not Thanksgiving, no question about it. Mark
Stein our guest Jason Smith Show with Me, Mike Carbon
Carry Rhodes in for Jason at the steinline where you
find him in the Twitter verse. First thing you're going
to find the pin tweet his Hall of Fame basketball card. Oh,
talking to Kobe Bryant. That's as good as it gets.
I'm a big card collector, Mark, so you know all
of those things near and dear to me, and that's

(10:56):
a great sweet image.

Speaker 5 (10:57):
I have to I had to pin it because I
still don't believe it year goal and I still don't
believe that that's actually a real card. It's quite a
quite surreal.

Speaker 3 (11:05):
It's a beautiful thing, no question about it. But let's
go to Kobe's old team, the Lakers. Lebron James four
straight triple doubles, Anthony Davis versus Wenby something I hope
we get to see for a number of years here
because that was fun to watch. But uh, Lebron playing point,
they seem to have brought the best outs. Does that
quell any of the unrest with D'Angelo Russell? How how

(11:28):
how much can they keep him happy in his role?
And is this iteration of the Lakers potentially a contender.

Speaker 5 (11:37):
Contender? I think we're gonna have to give it more time,
because really, look the way the Olympics went with Lebron
and Ad playing so well, and they you know they
they're playing at that same level, or you could argue
both they're playing even better than they did at the Olympics.
Anthony Davis has been a monster in the first month
of the season, as good as he's ever been at

(11:59):
both then over a month long stretch, and Lebron the
four triple doubles in a row at nearly forty I mean,
I don't think needs a lot of elaboration on how
ridiculous that all is. So the Lakers blueprint coming into
this season was if we get peak Lebron and peak AD,

(12:21):
we can be a contender. The question will remain Last season,
those guys both played seventy plus games together for the
first time, and still it wasn't nearly enough. Can they
have the same kind of durability this season as they
did last season, and can the improvements of the is

(12:45):
there going to be enough improvement the rest of the roster?
The JJ Reddick effect and JJ Reddick has made a
positive impact here in his first month as an NBA coach,
can not nudge the Lakers a little bit higher in
the Western Conference hierarchy. I still think we need more time.

(13:07):
We need you know, it's it's It's been a very
promising start, but it's still early. And again, is that longevity,
Is that durability going to be there?

Speaker 4 (13:17):
Mark? You talk about time needing more time? Well, time
is time seems to be not on the side right
now of the team that you're you're pretty close with
in Dallas. I'm a Maverick fan myself as well. And
Luca looks really slow and out of shape and a

(13:38):
big defensive liability, all the things that we talk about
with him during certain stretches of the season for his entirety,
for the entirety of his career so far, it seems
to be in the same thing happening right now. But
even worse, can they find a way to get out
of their their full game losing streak and Luca gets

(13:58):
in shape and turns it on again like he usually does,
or is Dallas in trouble.

Speaker 5 (14:03):
Well, look, I think you would have given them the
benefit of the doubt until last night when Dallas at
Utah was the only game on the NBA schedule and
the whole league was watching. Yeah, and they were it
was such a bad performance. I mean, the Jazz were
trying to find ways to lose that game and the

(14:25):
Mavericks simply would not let them. And the noise in
the wake of that loss, I would say it's the
harshest criticism Luca Donna's faith, since you know, only games
through only the aftermath of Game three in the finals
would compare to it. So we're going to find out
here what kind of reaction we see from Luca. But

(14:47):
as a group as well, I mean, look that the
expectations around the Mavericks are really, really high, and they're
certainly not alone in this category. The Knicks or the
Wolves had to win find a way to win tonight
after losing two in a row in Portland. The Knicks
are a five hundred team. The Bucks and Sixers, as
we've already talked about, are truly in crisis mode. Already,

(15:11):
so the MAVs are not alone, but that doesn't really
do them any good or give them much consolation. I mean,
this team went to the finals and thought it made
moves that would position themselves to take the next step.
And they're twelve games in and I've seen last year's
team once in those twelve games, when they won at

(15:31):
Minnesota that looked like last season's maps. Otherwise the other
eleven games, this team has looked barely reminiscent of the
team we saw go on a second half tair and
go all the way to the finals last season. So
we'll see now how they respond to this pressure and criticism.
But last night in Utaw that was not just a

(15:55):
road loss. That one really left a scar long.

Speaker 3 (15:59):
Road just began. The NBA with us all the way.
Our guy Mark Stein at the Steinline, where you find
him in the Twitter verse. Mark, have a wonderful weekend,
enjoy the games, and we look forward to catch it
up with you next week.

Speaker 5 (16:10):
Thanks for stopping by, guys, sound take care.

Speaker 3 (16:12):
Take care of Mark mark Stein again. Check it out
the Steinline. He's got that tin photo like I think
it's the greatest thing. Whenever I go to his Timeline
just makes me smile because it's him interviewing Kobe Bryant
having that moment in the Hall of Fame, all of
those good things. Panini card too, Marcus cool cool, cool dude,
guy brass tacks, you know, getting to I like that
he pushed off the mascot talk. Those that haven't seen it,

(16:36):
Kings unveiled a new mascot. Tiaron Fox said, what the
blank is that? And I think it summed it up
pretty nicely. I'm really not sure what they were trying
to achieve. Bring back the Lion man, Bring back the Lion?
Why not white?

Speaker 4 (16:51):
What did you do?

Speaker 3 (16:51):
You don't have to change for Chain's sake.

Speaker 4 (16:53):
Come on, the guy had on soda pads. I don't
know what kind of mascot, but you have soda pads.
A football player baseball's legging and it was a lot
of things going on.

Speaker 3 (17:02):
Oh hybrid, Well, I mean, Sacramento now going to be
home to a lot of stuff. Maybe they're just trying.

Speaker 4 (17:07):
To prepare for it.

Speaker 3 (17:07):
All these carry roads in for Jason Smith. I'm Mike
Carmon as we come to you hear live from the
tire rac dot Com. Fox Sports Radio Studios teased it before.
We'll get to it now, Livy done up the bounty
on a particular item that well is probably worth in
excess of five hundred thousand dollars. We'll tell you what

(17:28):
it is, what it's all about next Here on Fox.

Speaker 2 (17:31):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to
listen live.

Speaker 3 (17:43):
Hey, welcome back in Fox Sports Radio Jason Smith Show
with Me and Mike Carmon. Jason Smith off tonight, hit
Himbout Bat. How about a presca as he gets ready
for the next Jets game. We'll talk week eleven NFL
in a few minutes. Carry Rhoads in his stead tonight
at Carrie twenty five Roads. He's got music, he's got
music videos, he's got deep thoughts in the ex world.

(18:06):
Find him there, find me over at Swollen Dome, And well,
there's a huge bounty out there. And we like the
word bounty especusally when there's pirates involved. Yeah, exactly, Yeah,
pirate's booty as it were. Now, you know me and
my love of the trading card, I just you know,
highlighted the mark Stein Panini card the tops Now promotion.

(18:27):
I can't wait to see how many they sell with
the opportunity to potentially get a Tyson or Paul or
Tyson Paul autograph whatever, to see what the final print
run is. Again owing to the record, and they've had
some big show heyo tani moments. The fifty to fifty
sould the ton because you had random autographs there. But
you had the Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, Lebron James triple

(18:51):
card which had a one of one autograph yet to
be I think someone got it in their collection just
said cool really and just disappeared with it, which is great,
which is what I hoped twas happened, not that some
breaking operation or huge conglomerate, Yah, ten thousand of these things,
and then in box fifty there it is. I was
kind of hoping that it would be because we got

(19:13):
breakers that do cards, right, So they'll sell off teams
or players or whatever, and you bid and all, and
then they sit and they open the cards and they'll
send them to you. Right, so you got the pirates,
you get all the pirates. In this case, you get
the Paul skins. Ha ha, you win the lottery. But
all of that to say with some of these, you know,
there's always that fear that these big companies in big

(19:34):
breaking operations pull all the great stuff. So we'll see
if that happens in this respect. But to this point,
that triple Basketball card, like I said, has not been pulled. Now,
what Major League Baseball has done the last couple of
years is at the Major League debut is they put
a patch on the jerseys that is contracted to tops
and fanatics that goes to them and they take the

(19:56):
patch and they insert it into a card, get the
player to autographic autograph it. It's a one to one
and it might be live in the product as you
open this top chrome product that just released, or it
might be a redemption if the guy hadn't signed it yet,
whatever the case is. But for the Paul schemes, I'd
seen a bounty go out for half a million. And
we've seen this big time with when and Yama went

(20:18):
over a million for a couple of cards that came
out on him. One of one's whatever this patch Matt Holiday, right,
so Jackson Holiday of the Orioles, He's basically said, find me.
If you get it like we want it for our family,
it would mean the world. So that means, hey, the
bank is open. Go figure out what you can negotiate
with Matt Holliday and Jackson Holiday. If that's the case.

(20:41):
Now for this Paul Skiings one comes out. The Pirates
offered this season tickets behind home played for the next
thirty years. Softball game for thirty You get to bring
thirty people to PNC Park, and you get coaching from
Pirates alumni. You get a spring training experience with a
private tour, meet and greet with schemes, two autograph jerseys

(21:05):
of him, take batting practice and warm up with the team,
a bunch of other stuff that they just they just
stop listing it. And then Livy Dunn comes over the top,
going and you can come to a game and hang
out with me in the suite. Now, the estimated value
people trying to figure out pro rating and what the
value of a Pirates ticket is right now versus thirty years.

(21:26):
Hence they're trying to put a five six hundred thousand
dollars value on it right now. You know, the experience
is priceless, that whole thing, and obviously the livy dune thing,
well takes it over at the top and finds a
whole other audience and now wants to go chase packs
of cards and pull the ball skiings. But it's also,
I think a pretty good move by the pirates to say,

(21:48):
we really want this guy to not be a Yankee,
a Dodger or whatever else. Huh So a little bit
of good will does it matter in the grand scheme? No,
I mean, because we're talking hundreds of millions of dollars
assuming he can continues on this path, right, But as
people are opening up these packs and some of the
one of one patches have come out and it says
MLB debut, it's really cool. It's a big patch, huge

(22:10):
underneath a player picture and then it'll have a big
autograph and all. But that's the bounty going. And you
see a lot of the heavyweights come in, especially with
a card like that, because if the guy's going to
be a star like the Web and Yama was a
million dollars, well, you got an international audience and you've
got all of that same thing. When we're talking, then
what do.

Speaker 4 (22:27):
You think it's worth just a card alone.

Speaker 3 (22:30):
I'll still be worth a couple hundred grand, sure, probably
two three hundred grand at the current rate with one
of one's and scarcity and the demand for him.

Speaker 4 (22:39):
So you think the offer is worth it, Well, if.

Speaker 3 (22:42):
You want to go to Pirates games, like, that's right.
But I mean that's the reality of it, and some
others have come through saying, well that that really doesn't
have the juice because if I, like, say, I pull it,
I live in Los Angeles, that's my point. Only thirty
years of Pirates tickets exactly, the meet and greets and
all of that, and hanging out with Livy Don having

(23:03):
a beer and watching Skians pitch, that'd be great. But
in terms of a cash value, yeah, I'm I'm taking
the lottery ticket and I'm cashing it in. Your guy
is bitter, and if they want to go hang out
with Paul Skins, they can go do that. Because some
of the players are collectors. I mean, you know this
for your time in the league and in the years
you know after. I mean, guys collect their own stuff

(23:24):
or have family members that curated. I actually thought about
doing that as a business for a while really, because
guys would be like, oh, well you know what, I
get some sent because they used to send some boxes
of stuff, you know for personal whatever or if you
get autograph cards, right, you get to keep five for family.
But then there were so many products and parallels and stuff.
It's like, well, guys are trying to collect their their stuff.

(23:46):
Maybe they need a little help with this.

Speaker 4 (23:48):
Most collectors in it for.

Speaker 3 (23:51):
The game the money of wide Swath it really is
because I mean, if you're collecting pirates, unless you're going
back to Clement's yeah, and now schemes and then that
period of bonds Benia, yeah, you got, you get, you
got a lot of nothing about.

Speaker 4 (24:05):
Was it was not just but it was hot for a.

Speaker 3 (24:08):
Minute, right, staying power is maybe you want to go
fill out your individual player collection or you just have
a massive pirates collection. But from a all right, is
he not whether in his case, like say someone makes
the argument he makes the hall of fame, is that
going to make everything jump? Not really like he's not
a guy that cuts through that way. Maybe you know veterans,

(24:29):
committee numbers, whatever, you know all of those things, but
it doesn't schemes right now, it's the you know, the
hot marketplace. It's like a stock right, it's right hit
and you know, we just had our I p O.
We're here, we're fired up now. So but like this
was I thought, I thought an interesting little twist on
the age old. Hey, let's go down to the five
and dime and get a get a pack card.

Speaker 4 (24:51):
No, I think I think that's cool. I mean, I
think the fact that they're trying to uh obviously, but
like you said, do some some home some homegrown shopping
here and you get you know, Libby don attached to it,
and and that's that's fun. That's a fun story. Obviously.
You know, there's a lot of people that would probably
be interested in and that experience, right, I mean, it's

(25:12):
it's for me. It's one of those things where like
I would probably cash out on that obviously in that
situation because I'm not like a I'm not a bit collector.
So if I was just to happen to get that
pack and from somebody randomly and I saw it and
I was like, oh, I got the card. I know
this now because.

Speaker 3 (25:29):
Mike told me I'll be But it's like cloud chasing, right,
we were talking about Jake Paul a lot tonight. Yeah,
and we bring it back to that is substantive content
like My daughter was sending me stuff This is the
guy fighting Mike Tyson and it was old clips of
Jake and you know early you know, YouTube and whatever else.
It is like, you know, folks find find their their path, right,

(25:52):
and people collect a million different things, trading cards. Yeah,
it becomes the well I got this, it's cool, but
I can flip it into ten of the guy I like.
So like if I'm a Jets collector, I go and
I find my Curtis Martin's, I can buy some gasting
on Cleco and and maybe a cool Joe Namath Rookie
year or whatever, and I go from there.

Speaker 5 (26:11):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (26:12):
But yeah, it's it's all over the place, right. It
also becomes a is it clutter at some point versus
you know, am I actively doing something with it. I've
got piles of stuff that been touched in months we
talked about.

Speaker 4 (26:25):
That's I and I have so much like memorabilia stuff
that I have no idea what it is. I may
have to call it. I may have to call you
to come buy and check it out.

Speaker 3 (26:32):
By can we can do a reality series?

Speaker 4 (26:34):
I had to do that.

Speaker 3 (26:34):
Well, you and I then, is it some of your
former teammates and do some of the same. Uh, you
know what, Week eleven of the National Football League is
here one game in the books. We had Washington in Philadelphia,
as we talked about a little bit uh earlier, and
now there's a lot of hand ringing, and you know,
I talked about this a little bit off air, So
we bring it to the masses here at Fox Sports
Radio Washington. Everybody, Oh, Jayden Daniels, this that the other yea,

(26:59):
and then we've already hit their season win total. Right,
if you bet them before the season it was six
and a half, you already cashed. But we've got to
be real about it, right if we're gonna have the conversation.
And clearly Caleb Williams is far more a lost soul
at this point with what the Bears are putting out.
But they had some early wins against bad teams, and

(27:20):
so the heype machine built for Jaden Daniels and the Commanders.
There have been some very special moments, but against teams
that quote unquote matter, they've come up smallish. And as
we talked about a little bit off air, the Terry
mcglaurin disappearing act yesterday is the one that gets me,
h thirty two pass attempts from Jaden Daniels. Mclaurin's targeted twice.

(27:45):
And I like the Eagles secondary. I think we all
like the personnel that the Eagles throw out there in
Vic Fangio. He's one of those guys that he's always
tagged super genius like Wiley Coyote. Two targets for Terry mcglark.

Speaker 4 (27:57):
Ridiculous, can't happen. Get him the ball. He's the he's
the best player on offense, he really is. And the
Eagles secondary isn't. They're they're good, but.

Speaker 3 (28:10):
We take for Washington what they what they are. They're
gonna end up near to a five hundred team, which
is above expectations. Yeah, and you got a guy that
you can build off of. Well, I think that's really
where it comes down to you.

Speaker 4 (28:22):
No, I actually I think they're gonna be I mean,
I'm looking at their schedule right now. I think they'll
finish ten and ten and seven, and I think they'll
I mean, I think they're still going to make the playoffs.
So they have the Cowboys, next, they have the Titans.
They should win those two. That's nine, they'll be ninety four.
They'll beat the Saints probably right.

Speaker 3 (28:40):
So well, I have the Saints as the worst team
in football after two weeks. Everybody's like, you're an idiot harmon,
So yeah, let were action. They won last week. They
did all the veterans decided, oh no, we've got to
make our final stand.

Speaker 4 (28:54):
So look at that. So I'll say, let's just play
that hypothetical, which I whatever, but I think they'll win
the next I'll say two out of three because they're.

Speaker 3 (29:03):
Meet both saying two out of three ain't bad.

Speaker 4 (29:05):
Right, So that makes them nine and five. Right, they're
gonna lose the Eagles again, ten and five. They may
lose to the Falcons, but they'll beat the Cowboys again.
So I still see them around like ten to seven.

Speaker 3 (29:15):
Cooper rush for the win or Trey Lance.

Speaker 4 (29:17):
By that point, I think Trey Lance he better be
playing for or.

Speaker 3 (29:19):
Maybe absolute chaos. We have no idea. Baltimore Pittsburgh, we
talked about it a little bit just from the Tomlin
side of schedule. Watching this one's interesting because Baltimore, everybody's like, oh,
look how good they are against the run. It's like, yeah,
because you don't bother to run because they're past defense
stakes exactly people so so naive, I'd see I'm pretty obvious.

Speaker 4 (29:42):
Why why waste your time running?

Speaker 3 (29:44):
If I could throw it for three hundred a game
against you and I have to keep up with your offense? Yes,
why am I running the Football's.

Speaker 4 (29:51):
It's one of those misleading things. But that game is
interesting because Pittsburgh gets the most surprising team this year.
If you don't have them as being your most prizing team,
then I think you would probably be a Pittsburgh Stiller
fan because there was nothing about the same that said
they would be at this point leading the AFC North Division.

(30:12):
No way. I mean, if you would have said Baltimore cool,
if you would have said Cincinnati cool. But does have
Pittsburgh in this position has been an utter I mean,
just just another shock to me. But this is a
big game and I don't and it's a division game,
rivalry game. It's gonna be tough, obviously, but Baltimore should
win this game. I just still don't believe in Pittsburburgh yet,

(30:34):
which is crazy. I don't know if that's I don't
know if it's crazy.

Speaker 3 (30:37):
The defense played well. Hi Smith's hurt, but Preston Smith,
who they acquired, should be able to step in the
run game has been better the last couple of weeks,
But like we said, I'm not anticipating suddenly Naji Harrison
and Jalen Warren are running against this front. It comes
down to Ken Russell Wilson make plays and I still
have some reservations. Right, does he make George Pickens happier

(30:59):
than justin Field? Sure? Justin Fields might be on time
with stuff, but it's a line drive and it's not
a ball for you to go get. You know what
I mean though, But like go get the ball which
Pickens can do, which Mike Williams, who you added on,
that's what they can go do. If you're trying to
throw it through defenders and I gotta go play through
a guy, it's a much different I mean, you know

(31:20):
the I mean you played cornerback, you bad late safety,
you played the secondary, you know, you know this. It's
a lot it's a lot harder for that guy to
work through you there, as opposed to let's jump up
and see what happens.

Speaker 4 (31:31):
Yep, seeing Randy Moss put his hand up, that's a
scary side like that.

Speaker 3 (31:34):
That's the last thing you want to see as you're
running down the field. All right, let's get one more
game in real quick before we get to our guys,
Steve de Seger Sunday Night Football, Cincinnati and the Chargers. Chargers, right, Bengals,
as they always do, start out terribly. Yes, don't understand
how you keep doing the same damn thing every year
and think suddenly it's going to change. T Higgins finally

(31:56):
going to be back for this one alongside Jamar Chase.
He's a guy that he's got a giant asterisk next
to his name right now if he's missed five games
plus the last couple of years. A little reticent to
roll out a giant wheelbarrow full of cash for him.
But that being said, lou An Rouma's defense has been
awful yep for the Bengals thus far. Chargers, they've got

(32:18):
all of Jim Harbaugh's best attributes, and they've got a
quarterback who's starting to sling it a little bit more frequently.

Speaker 4 (32:25):
Very interesting game. I'm inclined to say Cincinnati's going to
win this game. But the Chargers, I mean, they punish you.
And it's a running joke on ours show. I always
talk about when we watch these games. Whatever window the
Charges in. I want to know what window they're in,

(32:46):
because they're going to play the fastest game ever.

Speaker 3 (32:48):
No, that's true throughout the week. I think Mark Burley
when he pitched for the White Sox back today, two
minutes five seconds or two hours five minutes. If it
was a Wednesday afternoon, I could go and be home
in time for the minder.

Speaker 4 (32:59):
You'll be done. And that's what scares me about this
game because I think the Charger is going to limit
the Bengals possessions and that's gonna that's gonna be a difference.
That's gonna be a difference in the game. I think
the charge is going to find a way to win
and Cincinnati is going to be in trouble because they're
going to limit their possessions. Cincinnati can't get enough stops
and they're going to keep the clock running. It's gonna
be tough.

Speaker 3 (33:17):
There you go. Yeah, Our Bowl on a Sunday night, Hey,
get in is as low as forty three dollars. It'll
cost you a hundred to park exactly. Carry Rhodes up
by Carbon Here Fox Sports Radio Jason Smith Show with
me Mike Carbon for the final time tonight. We welcome
in our guy Steve de Seger with an update and
a wrap up and his final thoughts on Paul and Tyson.

Speaker 6 (33:38):
Oh no, but can you find parking at an NFL
game in LA for forty three dollars?

Speaker 3 (33:45):
No? No, such, I said, right, I'm paying. I got
two tickets for less than the parking. Most likely people
may be unaware of this. The Rams built that stadium.
It's a beauty. It's a great stadium and a great
place to see a game. Last year, the parking was
seventy dollars a car and sold out for the entire season.
So if you can find a spot at like the

(34:07):
Inglewood Public Library and just take a shuttle from there,
that's that's one option. Or find away from the LA
Airport on the other side of the freeway maybe, or
walk yeah, Or you can go in the secondary ticketing sites.
It's one of the only times you'll ever find parking
being scalped.

Speaker 6 (34:26):
Yes, absolutely, really so far stadium? Yes absolutely we will.
By the way, have that Bengals Chargers game. Remember it
was supposed to be a Jet Sunday night game.

Speaker 4 (34:35):
That was fut Steve, Come on, now that's enough, all right,
Jets Sho just dealing with facts here.

Speaker 6 (34:43):
Indy's playing at the Jets Cold Twide receiver Michael Pittman
practice fully again today after the back injury. Chargers or
Sunday night hosting the Bengals. T Higgins due to return
he missed three weeks with the quad injury. Practice fully today.
Chargers linebacker Khalil Mack is questionably miss practice all week
with a growing injury. Texans wide receiver Nico Collins practice
fully after missing five games with a hamstring injury. Houston

(35:06):
plays Monday night at Dallas Well by the way. As
far as Colts Jets left tackle Tyron Smith out for
the Jets neck injury. Wide receiver Devonte Adams did return
to practice after illness. The big game this weekend. Chiefs
Bills Buffalo tight end Dalton Kincaid out with a knee injury.
Wide receiver Amari Cooper listed his questionable wrist injury. Chiefs
kicker Harrison Butker had his left knee surgery. He'll miss

(35:29):
at least four weeks. Chiefs running back Isaapa Checko is
still out after the ankle injury, and for the Lions,
tight end Sam Laporta out with a shoulder injury. Yes,
there was boxing in front of about seventy thousand fans
in Arlington, Texas. Someone sanctioned this. Jake Paul won a
unanimous decision against Mike Tyson. The fight had eight two
minute rounds. It was eight rounds to none according to

(35:52):
one judge. The others scored at seven to one. Tyson
landed only eighteen percent of his punches on the night,
eighteen out of ninety seven.

Speaker 4 (36:01):
Taste eighteen percent or eighteen punches.

Speaker 6 (36:04):
Steve Yeah, it's it's about literally. Both and Jacob hal
landed almost as many punches as Tyson had thrown. Mike
Tyson's record going back to the Holy Field losses nineteen
ninety six. Since then, his record is five and six
with two no contests. Before then, Mike Tyson was forty

(36:25):
five in one wow. In college football, Saturday, Utah at
number seventeen Colorado noon Eastern time on Fox. Then It's
Nebraska USC Tonight, UCLA was at Washington. The Huskies won
their twentieth straight at home, thirty one nineteen over the Bruins.

Speaker 4 (36:40):
Als one.

Speaker 6 (36:41):
Arizona has beaten Houston twenty seven to three. Colorado State's
five and zero in the Mountain West after defeating Wyoming
twenty four to ten.

Speaker 3 (36:50):
Appreciate you, Steve. That's Steve de Segar at the Nears desk.
He's carry roads in for Jason Smith. I got a
guy who shows you know you can decide what color
the sky is in your world. I'll tell you what
that means. Coming up next as we continue, it's Fox

Wrap it up here tonight Fox Sports Radio Jason Smith
Show with Me and Mike Carman. Jason off tonight back
on Monday, as we'll commemorate what is it sure to
be another brilliant uh see your D list effort across
the National Football League?

Speaker 4 (37:37):
Come on, come on, I'm with Joe Pond.

Speaker 3 (37:40):
Hey, hey, one to two seventy two. I celebrate them all,
but somebody's got to be last. Who's going to be last?
All I can say is this right? And look, I'd
get some blowback from this because maybe maybe I'm a
hater but the only the only bad games that are
on the NFL slate are not just the ones that

(38:02):
we send out internationally, because that's the narrative that I
think we get from the echo chamber of the people
that watch and comment on radio and television about the NFL. Yes,
a lot of those games are bad. Guess what, They
still sell out and draw ratings, and your ass is
still getting out of bed to bet them, get your
starting lineup together for your fantasy picks. So shut up,

(38:26):
but you watch well, But it's just the reality check
of like, look, it's not all like I love football,
I love watching football. There's a lot of bad football
being played. Now. One thing that was also bad, and
we talked a lot about the fight. I gotta bring
up Landenhowe here on Twitter, who announced today that it
was his hey first day as VP of sports Streaming.

(38:49):
Hey excited to show you what we got and all
of this, and then he started getting stuff about technology
and he's like isolated incident. No, that's just a second.
And it started telling people you should be streaming it
like this and you'll be just fun at whatever. It's like, No,
a lot of people had problems and you always got
to remember that not everybody clears their cash, and not

(39:11):
everybody is technologically savvy. So what might be an easy
fix for you?

Speaker 2 (39:15):
Me?

Speaker 3 (39:16):
You, Alex, Tyer Shirt, the rest of the world doesn't.

Speaker 4 (39:20):
Don't add me to the mix. I'd be on there
trying to figure it out.

Speaker 3 (39:23):
But tight Shirt asked the best question, Tyso want to
do it? You cited Jeff Goldbloom, and we do it
here on the show with some regularity.

Speaker 6 (39:30):
Mike, just because you can do it, you might want
to stop and ask yourself, should you?

Speaker 3 (39:36):
And that's the question being asked from the crew here
at Fox Sports Radio as we've celebrated, commemorated this historic
occasion with you. Thanks Alex, thank you Patrick, thank you
to Steve Disager, thanks to Brandon in the back, and
of course to you Carrie sitting in here, Jason Smith
and I Bernie Fratto's coming up in about five minutes

(39:56):
from now. But last, but not least, as we look
at our our great slate of games, be remiss we
didn't take a quick run at Kansas City and Buffalo.
Buffalo a two point favorite missing several key component parts.
Keon Coleman is still going to be out Kincaid is
out for Kansas City. They get Juju Smith Schuster back
alongside DeAndre Hopkins, but they miss Harrison Butker.

Speaker 4 (40:18):
Yeah, I'm gonna take the Bills in this one.

Speaker 3 (40:23):
Don take the Bills because it's regular season.

Speaker 4 (40:26):
Yeah, yeah, don't give me the week I gave you.

Speaker 3 (40:30):
Come on, come on, say it. I'm going to take
the Bills in this It's just we're in January, the
Bills in January, and it was in Buffalo.

Speaker 4 (40:38):
I still would probably take the Bills, all right.

Speaker 3 (40:41):
Because because I'm a Cook fan, I think he's a
eraded running back. Yeah, Allen's been really good with the football.
Margin of error here. I mean it's one possession game.
The loss of Butker I think does come back on
him here.

Speaker 4 (40:54):
Well.

Speaker 3 (40:55):
Curious to see what the weather does for us as
well in that one. But it's a pretty good slate
all around, you know, Packers bear still has some juice
to it. The last throws of the Bears world Minnesota
Sam Darnold against Tennessee. The defense is pretty good anyway anyway.
At Carrie twenty five Roads where you find them on Twitter,
find me over at Swollen Down. Bernie Fratto coming up next, here,
