Speaker 2 (00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
Great eggs and welcome in a beautiful Friday night action
packed We've got the Emirates Cup up and going in
the NBA. For some of the teams, they are their
first go round with all the eclectic courts. I got
on the bad side of the NBA by correcting their
spelling mistakes in one of their posts from earlier today,

(00:50):
so we've got that going for us. Smith is off
tonight in his stead. Our guy Carrie Rhodes steps in.
What's going on? We got Tyson and Paul coming up.
We got Wemby and Anthony Davis. Nobody can play defense.
They're just running up and down and scoring on each other.
All sorts of chaos. Brother, how are you man?

Speaker 4 (01:09):
It's good.

Speaker 5 (01:09):
You know, it's been a while since I've been in
this chair with you, so excited to be here. Even
though it's the long the long one, the long night,
which you love. I'm excited for this, well.

Speaker 6 (01:18):
The four hours.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
Everybody gets all nervous about when they do, and it's like, what,
it's just another day here. It's like I more content,
more opportunity to go as we go on. We got
Pete fu Tech mark Stein will join US College Football
and the National Basketball Association, respectively. We've also got some
college football going on. I know they had a Warcraft game.

(01:40):
That's the theme going on with the game in Washington.
So we have that, so all sorts of chaos, But
we start with the event of events, and we love pageantry,
we love the pomp and circumstance, and we've got it.
You don't have to love the actual event, right, That's
the thing. Got to try to wrap my arms around it,

(02:00):
like all of it. Right, Because if you and I
sit here and we talk about where we're at in
the NFL after ten weeks, if I said, on the
normal grade scale, not inflated like we do it now, ABCDF,
for the NFL, where would you grade the quality of
play for the league as a whole?

Speaker 4 (02:17):
The quality of play would be a D for me.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
Right, So yeah, but we're still watching in crazy ass numbers, right,
so we will still watch bad products, and we may
get a terrible product coming up with this Mike Tyson,
Jake Paul fight. It could absolutely be a train wreck.
They could both look at each other, start break dancing,
and walk out of the ring together saying we got paid. Right,

(02:41):
people on Netflix on the apps, there's been some lag
and some issues, so demand is pretty strong. Why cause
how many households already pay for Netflix?

Speaker 4 (02:51):
I got it.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
It's it's not an added cost, right, Yeah, normally when
we talk about fight night and let's get excited, it's
fifty nine nine nine, nine ninety nine whatever, or I
got to go to a bar where I may have
to pay a cover fee, all all of those things
to wait. I already have Netflix because I watch Cobra
Kai or I watch whatever else that's right, Like you

(03:13):
Cobra Kai, uh, Cobra COTTI actors in the house. So
all you guys that always complains like why does Fox
have those people at the World series? Well, Netflix had
the guys from Cobra Kai.

Speaker 6 (03:23):
And all there.

Speaker 4 (03:24):
They representation.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
Shut up, it's all about branding. But the point is
that we've talked more about even if you don't want
to call it boxing, if you just want to call
it an exhibition, we've talked more about this than we
have since the what four years before Paquiao and Mayweather
actually got into a ring, when it was still a.

Speaker 6 (03:44):
Could they ever do it?

Speaker 3 (03:46):
Yeah, So everybody wins regardless of how this finishes.

Speaker 5 (03:50):
Yeah, you say that, you say everybody wins. Everybody's not
gonna win. Somebody's going to lose tonight. And for me,
it's Tyson and because obviously the image that he has
has already been, you know, an up and down when
Autopsy Turvy one, you know, it's a wild ride with
Tyson all the time, and we expect that at his age,

(04:13):
boxers don't do well. We already know that. So for me,
it's it's what you just said. It's a spectacle And
I'm not a spectacle guy. A lot of people are,
and I think the world as a whole is. I'm
a respectable guy. So when you talk about respectable, spectacle
or respectable.

Speaker 4 (04:32):
I'm a respectable guy.

Speaker 5 (04:33):
So are we ever as humans on this planet ever
gonna get back to being respectable for me.

Speaker 4 (04:41):
The the divide that.

Speaker 5 (04:43):
We have in our world is that like everybody's trying
to make the dollar, which is you need it. You
need to sustain your your lives in this life right now,
it's it's a it's a hard time. But when does
it become too much? And that's always the question for me.
You gotta you gotta, you gotta stand for something. What
do you stand for as a human? And that's why

(05:04):
that's why I have the divide when I watch this stuff. Well,
but it becomes that how much is enough?

Speaker 6 (05:08):
Right?

Speaker 3 (05:08):
And you can go back to your profession years in
the National Football League. You never said, hey, I'll take
less because I want to help others. No, but my
point is that it wasn't a well, you know, I'm
already making insert whatever dollars. You all can go and
google what what you think carry Rhoads might might have made.

(05:29):
It might be worth. But it's like for most folks,
they'll never see, you know, one hundred thousand dollars in
their respective bank account versus a million dollars.

Speaker 6 (05:39):
Where's that divide? Right?

Speaker 3 (05:41):
When we start talking about athletes and money, nobody's saying, hey,
give it back, No I'll take half because you know
what I got enough.

Speaker 5 (05:49):
Come on, Well, so no, Mike, that's not true. I mean,
there are some players that take pay cuts to help
their teams win.

Speaker 6 (05:56):
That that's not going somewhere else. I'm telling me that.

Speaker 5 (06:00):
No, I'm telling you, okay, Like, think about Tom Brady
and his plan. I know he made stuff on the side.
We were talking about his perspective jobs, sure, but it's
all tied together.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
And he recognized that the brand of Brady wasn't just
for sure on the field. It was if he wins
on the field, everything else flows. And he also had
a wife at the time making fifty million dollars a year,
so Tom Brady doesn't count.

Speaker 6 (06:23):
He's a wive.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
No, He's always the specious argument when people say, well,
this quarterback or that quarterback's like, they don't have the
same circumstance that.

Speaker 6 (06:31):
Tom Brady did.

Speaker 4 (06:33):
I agree.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
And in the end, Tom Brady still made what two
hundred million dollars as a quarterback in the that so
he did fine even taking less. He was still getting
fifteen to eighteen million dollars a year.

Speaker 4 (06:45):
Played a whole long long time too. We make up
for that.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
But again it goes to that same point of all right,
one year of that is lifetimes for millions of people. Sure, right,
so in terms of enough in giving back or whatever,
but you generally don't go and even we talk about
these deferred contracts. We'll get Intojan Soto a little bit
later on. It's the the idea of you know, you'll

(07:08):
eventually get in your cash now. Scott Boris is probably
gonna have something to say about it because he wants
his now. So that's that's where that kind of hiccup
goes when people start going down that philosophy. But the
respectable part of you know, from Mike Tyson, look, the
big bad bully can still mess you up. I think
we can all agree to that. Looking at whether he

(07:29):
can message Jake Paul up tonight, there's a whole other thing.
But to you know, Joe, Joe and Johnny Public, they
don't want to see him walking walking their direction with
a pissed off looking at the face. But from Mike Tyson,
let's face it, since Buster duckle is, it's not Mike Tyson, right,
So anybody doing this legacy nonsense and all that argument

(07:53):
that left a long ass time for a million different
reasons that's been gone. So if you can get another
pay like you saw, I mean, we played it yesterday,
that that clip he had with the young lady Jazzy
and talking about death and legacy and whatever else. Legacy
is what someone else is gonna make of it. For him,
all right, it's a payday. Maybe he helps some people

(08:14):
out with that money. Maybe maybe maybe he's already got expent.
I don't know, but in the head, you know, he's
a grown ass man unless someone's not. Unless someone's compelling.

Speaker 6 (08:25):
Him to go in the ring. I'm a big believer.

Speaker 3 (08:27):
Of until someone actually rips the jersey off of you,
I'm not gonna be the guy to do it right
until the contract offers don't show up anymore. You've gone
to any other tryouts, football, basketball, bait, whatever it is.
The arm doesn't work anymore, the legs don't have the
quick twitch motion. Boxing, you're too slow, so you're getting
your ass handed to you. So nobody's gonna clear you

(08:49):
medically or insurance or whatever. But until that happens, if
that's what's gonna make you happy, go do it. And
that goes for any walk of life beyond our sporting ground.

Speaker 4 (08:59):
I got a question.

Speaker 5 (09:00):
So as far as this this fight goes, they still
had to clear him, right, Yeah, so he still was clear.

Speaker 3 (09:06):
You still got to go through a lot of that,
and we all can, I think reasonably understanding many many circumstances.
Again owing back to your you know, former call to
the National Football League whether you should have been back
out a field at times? Was not you the collective
view might have been in question. Wow, that was a

(09:26):
really great trip to the tent, right, and we still
see it now even with all the would be advancements
and safety protocols that we're still there carry So so
for me, I'm all in on this, you know, because look,
everybody's getting fed.

Speaker 4 (09:42):
You know.

Speaker 5 (09:42):
The crazy part about that is the I would say
the I would say the silver lining here or the
positive side of what it could be here is my
little nephew text me and said he's watching the Tyson fight.

Speaker 4 (09:57):
I was like, the Tyson fight, how do you? How
do you you know about that?

Speaker 5 (10:01):
So that part, just the awareness of once greatness, it's
kind of a cool thing to kind of see.

Speaker 3 (10:07):
Yeah, if nothing else, you know, for folks, whatever this
becomes right, the over unders five and a half rounds.
Everybody's getting paid Tops and we'll talk about Tops a
little bit later because they factor in they produced the
Tops Now series. Panini does the same thing with their
instant so it commemorates big moments in our pop culture

(10:28):
and sporting events. Depending on which licenses you have, you
do different things. But you know, going back to the Olympics,
Tops did a special with Lebron James, Steph Curry and
Kevin Durant, all three of them on the same card,
and you had the if you bought one five you
can buy him in different packages a little discounting. If
you bought more, the opportunity potentially to get either a

(10:51):
numbered parallel so different color scheme and number out of
serially numbered to forty nine ninety nine, or one of
one but also randomly inserted autographs. They sold five hundred
and eighty eight thousand of those people. The one on
one autograph still has in surface, so we're still waiting
for someone to open all their packages and see where

(11:13):
it comes up. But the Tyson Paul fight, they already
started pre selling those with the chance of autographs. I
can't wait to see the final print run. Wow, because
it's gonna be immense because you've got the silo of
Paul fans. And let's face it, he's not a guy
that just decided to throw some gloves on. There's some
fights here. Yeah, and look, I'll let the masters of

(11:35):
the pugilistic arts tell me how good or bad? No,
because I mean, look, that's it. It's like I'm a
pure again. The health of boxing is always the thing
people want to fight about. How healthy boxing? Like, yes,
this is a mainstream thing that everybody kind of wrapped
their arms around that boxing card down the street. That

(11:56):
true fight fans, as everybody declares themselves get it's like
hockey fan like they get really mad about and territorial
and that's right. But you know what, when something like
this happens, welcome everybody in. And for your nephew, for
people that younger folks, there's an opportunity to be educated.
Here's some old Mike Tyson footage.

Speaker 4 (12:15):
Yeah, because you could.

Speaker 3 (12:16):
Show every one of his first three years fights while
he walks to the ring, because they were about twenty
seconds over. Right, here's your history lesson Bama. Wait, was
it was that all Wona pull was?

Speaker 4 (12:29):
Like?

Speaker 6 (12:30):
Nope, that was a line of guys. But it's just
the idea. For me.

Speaker 3 (12:34):
I just like the the bringing together of folks for
an event. And look, it's exhibition, it's boxing. It's slightly
wwe which we had in the little press conference. Oh
you stepped on my foot, I slap you, But it
got more people talking, right KFI or a big news

(12:55):
station here in Los Angeles, they were talking about it.
Experts on to talk about the build up to this
and boxing history and who Mike Tyson is for folks
just coming.

Speaker 6 (13:05):
To the to the table now.

Speaker 3 (13:07):
So for me it's you know, I'm and look, the
longer these guys fight, play football, whatever else, the less
I feel like an old man. So so long, Mike.
When Brady retired, I might have shed a tear. As
bad as Aaron Rodgers is playing. Oh don't why you
have to say that, because he's gonna be forty one
and what fifteen days?

Speaker 6 (13:28):
Right, But as long as he plays, I ain't that old.

Speaker 4 (13:31):
You're relatively young.

Speaker 3 (13:32):
It's all relative. It's all relative hairs thinning. Maybe you
have crept away in different spots, but so long as
they're still out there, I don't feel so old. Hey,
we're broadcasting live from the tirack dot com studios. Tyrack
dot com will help you get there and unatched selection,
fast free shipping, free road hazard protection over ten thousand
recommended in stallars tyraq dot com. The way tire buying

(13:54):
should be. I should also say this, I am. I'm
not betting the fight. I didn't bet it. Sure, I
have no monetary sure, Marston said fight unless I think
I hold Netflix stocks under a mutual fund.

Speaker 6 (14:08):
But beyond that, I got nothing.

Speaker 4 (14:10):
Okay, But you know it's.

Speaker 6 (14:13):
You seem slightly offended by this.

Speaker 3 (14:16):
I do get offended by it. The quality matters to me, Okay,
quality matters and everything. Like I I want to be
you know, I want to be a stand up guy.
I want others to feel that way. I want people
to really take pride in what they do. You take
pride in what you do on the mic every day,
Like you come to work and you're really invested in

(14:37):
with my Hamburglar T shirt, I'm ready to go, You're
ready to go, like I want that.

Speaker 5 (14:41):
I don't want to be duped or food by anything
or anybody.

Speaker 4 (14:45):
And that's what I feel like.

Speaker 5 (14:45):
I feel like it's a big dupe, and I know
it may be exciting, which I'm sure it might be.

Speaker 4 (14:50):
It's just not real.

Speaker 6 (14:52):
It feels like a con.

Speaker 3 (14:53):
It feels like like Hugh Jackman's gonna come out and
start singing to you.

Speaker 4 (14:58):
Ladies, And exactly that's right.

Speaker 3 (15:03):
I was really waiting for our guys to start backgrounds
and they failed me. But but no, I I understand
that part of it, and I guess for me, I'm
accepting it for what it is, that it is as
much P. T. Barnum and a side show and a look.
They may walk out into the ring and it might
be ding ding and they dance around.

Speaker 6 (15:25):
Well, they could break dance, or they could do.

Speaker 3 (15:27):
The Rocky and and Apollo and dance around for a
little bit, and then all of a sudden, all right,
they're both throwing blows. So I mean, there's there's a
million ways by which this could go in any direction.

Speaker 6 (15:43):
Man.

Speaker 3 (15:44):
You might have a third guy come in with a chair,
I don't know, and all of a sudden it leads
into a w D.

Speaker 4 (15:50):
You're going to undertake music or something coming up.

Speaker 3 (15:52):
Now you're now you're talking, and then all of a sudden,
you know, hell and a cell boom there they are
or are suddenly they're part of war games. I don't know,
I mean, but it's it's just the the idea of
there's so many there's so few things even in sports
and entertainment that really cut through. Because there's a lot

(16:15):
going on. College football, college basketball has started. Our guy
Doug Gottlieb got his first win the other night. Right,
you've got the Emirates Cup going on, so we've got
we had a hell of a game going on, Lakers
and Spurs, like all of those things. To say, we
got another big slate of the college football calendar. We've
got the NFL Week eleven and plenty of teams that

(16:35):
we decided what's going on, and including four or five
monster games right at least at least on paper here
in week eleven. And then yet this still cut through
to the masses on all the daytime talk shows. Like
I said, KFI is a new station and they play
little grab Ass Friday night.

Speaker 6 (16:53):
It's drive time.

Speaker 3 (16:54):
Tim Conway Junior getting after it, but he's talking about
the fight, like where are you watching it, how you
watching it?

Speaker 6 (17:00):
What do you expect to see?

Speaker 3 (17:01):
And so like when it starts doing that and getting
those spidering effects, like I like to call it, it's
because we like to do a story.

Speaker 6 (17:09):
But then it's how many layers can we do?

Speaker 4 (17:11):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (17:12):
Right here, it's how many tentacles we got and if
it's breaking through towards not just at whatever. It's Mike Tyson,
Jake Paul over on Netflix. But everybody's picking up on
this as a big event. How much at least watch
how much of it is? How much is it of
people wanting to see Paul lose?

Speaker 6 (17:32):
Oh yeah, everybody wants to see his ass.

Speaker 2 (17:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (17:34):
No, there's no no, there's hate watching even if they
don't know anything about it. He's just he represents this
whole YouTube influencer, this whole nebulous evil as like, because
there's content creation of whatever music, right, you do music

(17:56):
and we're calling it art whatever, whereas folks you know, hey,
AI write me this and then I sing to it
or whatever, you know what I so see, I just
hit you where you live right there? I just Mike
Tyson your ass right nineteen eighty five style, So like it.
It's just that kind of thing, right where you're working
hard and you're crafting, and then you've got folks that

(18:18):
with a little bit of technical wizardry or maybe a
producer that's got the know how about to go from
A to B to C. That it's it's no longer
that craft these short cuts as it were. Yes, and
that's where what I think Jake Paul represents for a
lot of people here. Yeah, and as a collective, they
they're putting their strength behind Mike Tyson with their five

(18:41):
dollars wagers because all the big money came in on Paul.
Did you say, wait, I can I can make some
money even it's like, you know, the heavy favorite like
this week, Detroit's a fourteen point favorite on Jack Jacksonville.

Speaker 6 (18:52):
You can pay the money line. You're not making a
lot of money, but you know what, you feel pretty good.

Speaker 3 (18:56):
You're going to catch the ticket, probably get a cash.

in because some of the stations have already flipped here.

Speaker 4 (20:48):
What's your favorite what's your favorite holiday song?

Speaker 6 (20:51):
Holiday? Holiday? Holiday song?

Speaker 3 (20:53):
Well, I like Father Christmas and some of the crazy stuff,
you know, the Kinks, or go back to Jethrow Toll
and another Christmas song. Remember, the Christmas spirit is not
what you drink all of those kind of things.

Speaker 6 (21:07):
So he go a little bit deeper.

Speaker 3 (21:08):
But you know every time, you know, I get a
little bit of you know, Perry Como or Dean Martin
that comes creeping on.

Speaker 6 (21:14):
You know, you shed a little tear, like we've hit
the season again.

Speaker 3 (21:18):
But the iHeartRadio app is where you can have a

(22:02):
Lakers beat the Spurs, great battle Lebron and Anthony Davis
against Victor wembin Yama at a little Dalton connect. You
got some stuff percolating there. We'll have Mark Stein with
us talking all things NBA. Coming up in our ten
o'clock hour. In twenty minutes, Pete Futech stops by to
preview the college football slate for tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (22:23):
Carrie.

Speaker 3 (22:24):
But one of the stories that's circulating in it while
making the rounds in multiple platforms over the last couple
of days, You've got the I will be the invisible hand,
but you won't see me directing traffic in terms of
where Travis Hunter and Shador Sanders go to play their
NFL ball, but also Dion Sanders in terms of potential

(22:48):
coaching prospects. And he's responding to some of the rumors
talking about how happy he is at Colorado and people
have taken in photoshopped him into another number of ball caps.
Maybe they've taken stuff straight from his old playing days, right, Ah,
he'd look good as a with the seminoles. Oh, he'd

(23:10):
look good as a cowboy. Yeah, et cetera. Like all
of that to say, what do you think the future
is for Dion Sanders if you're reading the tea leaves,
because Shiloh's still gonna be there. Shiloh's a guy that,
let's face.

Speaker 4 (23:22):
It, He's he's a guy.

Speaker 6 (23:24):
He's a guy.

Speaker 3 (23:25):
Schidor is the top five guy, top ten at a
at a minimum. Now it's just a question of who
what where Wherever Mark Davis is drafting, he's not going
any lower than that to Las Vegas. And then you've
got Travis Hunter. But what what do you think Dion?
You know, his headspaces with potential options out.

Speaker 5 (23:41):
There well first and foremost that I mean, Dion might
as well just you know, go to the if he
goes to the league. You know, Silo might not just
be a guy. He may it may be Lebron thing
that happens where he brings his son along.

Speaker 3 (23:55):
Anyways, he just work home games or what he Because
I also don't want to say you don't take comercial flyings.
I also don't have problems with that. Like I got
yelled at a lot. Yeah, he's like, you're all four
deputies and I'm like, I'm just I'm just calling it
what it is. You're trying to keep Lebron happy. Everybody's
printing money. And that twelfth guy on the bench, did

(24:16):
you know who he was before? His name was James
nor Right anyway.

Speaker 4 (24:21):
Yeah, but no, Like, you know, what's the crazy thing
about Dion.

Speaker 5 (24:28):
The first part of what you said is he's going
to make sure that he gets those those guys.

Speaker 4 (24:34):
Into the right situations.

Speaker 5 (24:36):
And he got a lot of, you know, a lot
of pushback, a lot of you know, a lot of
I guess negativity came from those comments.

Speaker 4 (24:44):
In that regard. I think it's pertinent. I really do.

Speaker 3 (24:49):
Get get your get your guys if you can to
the right situations, because a lot of times people want
to get that.

Speaker 4 (24:55):
You know, I want to be the top pick.

Speaker 3 (24:57):
I want to be the first pick in the draft,
and most of the time you're going to a bad situation.
If we saw this happen with the Manning, we saw
it happen with Eli. He didn't want to come out
here to the Chargers. He wanted to play in New York.
If the Chargers would have drafted him, he was not
showing up Like that's a real thing. It's happened before.

Speaker 5 (25:16):
So as far as that part of it, I'm all
on board with that, Like, really put them in the
best position to be successful, because if you have that
opportunity to do that, do that.

Speaker 7 (25:27):
Now.

Speaker 4 (25:27):
As far as Dion coaching, I think the Dallas Cowboy
job is the job for him. I really do.

Speaker 5 (25:35):
You want to bring somebody to that organization that has blood,
sweat and tears poured into it, really cares about the outfit,
really cares about the brand he does, and he will.
He'll go to that situation. The guys will respect him
right now. The guys don't respect the guy that's there
right now. It's just very can I ask just yea.

Speaker 3 (25:57):
You know, because for you, I've raised my hand whenever
we do the deification of guys who won Super Bowls
a long time ago.

Speaker 4 (26:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (26:06):
Yes, And it now seems like people are catching up
with me a little bit in that regard. And maybe
Sean Payton's got something cooking eventually in Denver. Maybe maybe,
But he's one of those guys that we still genuflect
to what he did long ago. Mike McCarthy's same thing,
that all of a sudden that the bloom came off
the rose for both of those guys in terms of
well do they really know how to.

Speaker 6 (26:27):
Build Part two?

Speaker 4 (26:28):
I'm with you on that. I talk about that very openly.

Speaker 5 (26:32):
You threw out the Peyton name, and I really it's
not many people I don't like, genuine league like care for.

Speaker 4 (26:40):
I don't care for the guy.

Speaker 6 (26:41):
Okay.

Speaker 5 (26:42):
The way that he handled to the Russell Wilson situation
last year really irked me because he used Russell as
the scapegoat, which we can go back and check the tape.

Speaker 4 (26:52):
I said.

Speaker 6 (26:52):
I did a lot of yelling very much to that
of he made him the fall guy as soon as.

Speaker 3 (26:58):
Russell could have done would have been good enough that year.
So to your point about it, no, I agree with
you one hundred percent.

Speaker 4 (27:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (27:05):
To your point about like giving people who won champions
one championship back in the day the credit of being
the guy that come into your organization to write you
and get you back to that, it holds no merit.
If Peyton was the guy, or McCarthy were the guys
that a Bill Belichick was or whatever, they'd have multiple championships.

(27:29):
You had both of those guys attached to star quarterbacks
and only win one championship.

Speaker 3 (27:35):
In divisions that were in flux for most of the time.
As much as people get Brady and Belichick and garbage,
like the fact that the Dungeee and everybody else with
Peyton Manning got one yes and a lot of early flameouts. Yes,
and Peyton McCarthy with their respective quarterbacks in those divisions.

(27:57):
I've always found it very curious why Brady got singled
out when other quarterbacks coaches had similar circumstances in their
respective divisions.

Speaker 4 (28:06):
It's it's it's crazy.

Speaker 5 (28:08):
I it really, We're gonna say pans with that, And
even I was on on X this week and a
lot of the Jet Jets.

Speaker 3 (28:18):
Twitter was about possibly bringing in Gruden and I was
like what They were like, he's wonderful. I was like, well,
what you want you want to explain to folks because
I mean, he signed that multi year deal with Barstool now,
so I know. But they say the rumors to his

(28:38):
getting back into coaching.

Speaker 5 (28:40):
Yeah, that whole thing anyway. But so yes, so you
talk about Dion and possibly going to me, me thinking
that the cowboy situation would be ideal for me. I
think that would be the one if he was to
make that jump.

Speaker 3 (28:52):
So the personality to match and be a showman, no
question about it. Would you be because that Colorado he's
CEO coach, I think would be the way we so
pretty much it's the let's find guys, oh to run
everything else right.

Speaker 4 (29:08):
As you should. I think any head coach has to
have that.

Speaker 5 (29:13):
It doesn't care if if you look at all the
successful coaches, really successful coaches in the league, what do
they have in common. They have a tree of guys
that end up being head coaches and really good head coaches.
Sure it has to be that way if you're coming
in trying to be somebody that delegates your power all
the way throughout and it's just you, and it's your

(29:34):
organization CEO type of thing. It's not gonna work this
day and age because you have to have people that
can connect with these younger guys. It's a different generation,
so you gotta have guys that can connect with them.
But I also got to have guys. You gotta have
guys on your staff that you think can be better
than you or are better than you, because you're gonna

(29:55):
need to delegate this power and this and the hierarchy
of what the team is a months. Guys that are
just as talented are better than you. Yeah, that's what
I feel.

Speaker 3 (30:04):
Well, and we're in a space now where I mean,
it doesn't seem like anybody's got a problem. Get in
front of a microphone to tell you what's going on exactly.
And look at the guys in Chicago the last three
weeks since that game against Washington. I wait with baited
breath for the heady appearances on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. What
am I going to get related to the coaches? We

(30:24):
see it with you know, the Jets, and we talked
about Sauce Gardner last hour. You don't have to agree
with it. But you're getting some of that transparency that
you always wondered. You know, we're the anonymous sourcing thing.
Micah Parsons with his podcast going on down the line.

Speaker 6 (30:39):
Uh yeah.

Speaker 3 (30:39):
For Diana, it's just that curiosity of that next step,
that next level. If he jumps in college, guess what,
he can bring half his.

Speaker 4 (30:47):
Team with him and they will go right.

Speaker 3 (30:50):
Like if he were to go back to the all,
he'd have that that roster flipped in a minute.

Speaker 5 (30:56):
You think Florida State would be better a better job
than the Cowboys. What do you think I.

Speaker 6 (31:01):
Think the league is calling?

Speaker 3 (31:04):
Nah, you still have some some semblance of rules, not
that the NFL doesn't have its own rules that you
have to do it here too, but.

Speaker 6 (31:12):
You get my point.

Speaker 3 (31:12):
Like the NCAA still wants to flex every once in
a while, the last vestiges of power that they have.
You see the thing with Lincoln Riley about recruiting and
coaches or whatever earlier this week, just saying he had
too many people that were analysts and all this stuff.
So it's like, all right, what are we doing? Yeah, well,
like what's a what's a real rule versus a All right,

(31:35):
we we have to still flex.

Speaker 6 (31:36):
We haven't gone away totally.

Speaker 3 (31:38):
We don't have a lot of power any considerations of
some of this other stuff.

Speaker 6 (31:42):
But we're still here with with Dian I think if
given the Druthers the star.

Speaker 3 (31:50):
Literally, who else would it be be there? Who else
do you think would have that? Who would get that
job in Dallas? I mean, you've got the idea that
you know, you bring in Belichick, but like not, but
here's the here's the big thing though, like for Dallas
as a whole, and this is one.

Speaker 6 (32:07):
To just ponder.

Speaker 3 (32:07):
Yeah, look, everybody keeps saying Ben Johnson.

Speaker 6 (32:11):
Yeah, of course the obvious, right.

Speaker 3 (32:13):
I like that there was the anonymous well you know, hey,
that was told that Ben Johnson, you know, really wanted
to go to the Bears. Like, no, you're just saying
that because everything's money and it's a mess.

Speaker 6 (32:23):
Now what are you doing?

Speaker 8 (32:24):
Uh?

Speaker 6 (32:25):
Otherwise we would have heard that long ago. Yeah. Obviously,
wherever you.

Speaker 3 (32:28):
Can find the young, offensive minded guy, like, that's where
the league is, right, we gotta go score points. We
gotta figure this out. Like the Belichick thing, whenever he
gets attached to teams, it's always like I watched who
he hired as his coordinators like, I think he could
still coach him. Of course, I don't think he can
pick the groceries, and I don't think he can pick
the guys that are leading.

Speaker 4 (32:48):
He was a DM with the Patriots the last couple
The last.

Speaker 3 (32:51):
Couple of years were just what are we doing? Like
in terms of decision making. Once they were on the field,
they were always competitive. This is gonna put him in
the right place. He knows, you know, the rule book,
back and forth or whatever. But as soon as Matt
Patricia was standing there with a pencil behind his ear
as an oc.

Speaker 4 (33:06):
The pencil with the with the laminated cart, oh look
what they did.

Speaker 3 (33:10):
I wasn't trying to claim that mac Jones was going
to be the second coming of anybody, But tell me
they didn't do that guy the greatest disservice in the
world with the offensive coordinators that they hired the last
two years.

Speaker 6 (33:21):
He was there before he was jettison.

Speaker 4 (33:22):
It's bad and no no talent.

Speaker 3 (33:24):
Yeah, wide receivers, Wide receivers. I got plenty of rookie
cards sitting in a pile of guys that were first
round picks once upon a time. And they'll do a
montage with the Sarah McLaughlin said, Rescue.

Speaker 6 (33:38):
Mike Dog video.

Everything going all right? Yeah, no I can hear you know. Yeah,
pretty cool all around sports night tonight. You all things consider,
it's like as good as it gets with an NFL
game happening.

Speaker 3 (37:07):
Well, that's it, right, we have college football, We've got
the NBA and the Emirates Cup. Bulls actually played some

Bro in the league waiting out this, Jake Paul, Mike Tyson.

Speaker 9 (37:59):
You actually see it? Are you the are you one
of the five people who thatflick is working for practice?
That's It's like people, I'm not logged onto Netflix in
like six months, and it's the same stuff I watched
seven years ago. It's still like on my home screen
or whatever. It's like, I like, I did this already.
I saw a House of Cards. I don't need to

(38:21):
watch it.

Speaker 3 (38:24):
Bat What did you think of the for this next
generation of the the playoff rankings and anything to uh
spark a little bit of debate as you you hit
pen hit paper this week?

Speaker 9 (38:35):
Well, the bad thing is overall. I mean they're smart
over there at ESPN. They know what they're doing, and
yet their place speaking of a spectacle. Yeah, why are
they doing this bracket thing? Because they can't. It's it's like,
you can play it straight, you can analyze the rankings
and all that, but then they put it in a bracket.
That can't happen. You can't have a number two Ohio

(38:58):
State and number five Indiana and the way they have
the brackets, because what's gonna beat the other one? So
it's not gonna work out like that so like it's
it's it's kind of misleading how this is all going.
But if this goes to the plan, what we're kind
of figuring out is there's gonna be a two tier
system here because there's gonna be the fourteen, the four

(39:19):
top conference champions in the top four seeds probably let's
assume the Big Ten champion is probably five. And then
assuming everything goes chalk Notre Dame eleven to one, Penn
State eleven and one, let's say Indiana eleven and one,
there is your six, seven and eight for you know,
in some stretching, Hey, congratulations Indiana, You're in the college
football playoff and your home game is Georgia. You know,

(39:40):
because all these SEC teams are gonna be at the bottom,
because there's gonna be the Texas Texas A and M winner.
There's gonna probably be the you know, Alabama versus whoever
SEC championship blues there. There's going to be a Georgia,
there's gonna be an Old miss and they're all going
to be there at the bottom along with probably the
ACC or Big twelve seam pete.

Speaker 3 (40:00):
That's where I was going. You just actually gave me
a nice segue. Uh, Georgia on the outside looking on
the outside looking in right now, you think they're gonna
find the way to get back in that top twelve.

Speaker 9 (40:12):
Yeah, I just remember absolutely ten and two gets them in.
I mean it's they lose this week in the Tennessee
though they're probably out so right. What we don't what
we don't know yet is if you go by the
ten years of the college football playoff ranking so far,
no eleven wins Power five now power four team would
have been left out. So every every eleven, well you

(40:32):
get to eleven and two, you're gonna get in this thing.
If we're going by the way that the capacity committees
have done this. We don't know yet though. It's will
the committee, you know, you know go in that little
spot in Grapevine. I've been there, I worked there. They
know there's a little spot where there's behind a thing
of glass it does break here in case of emergency,
and bought Alabama. They're just gonna be like, yeah, we

(40:54):
can't we can't figure out. We're just gonna take Alabama
and throwing them there or Georgia in there. But yeah,
it's at nine and three probably doesn't get it done.
So so yees. So, Georgia's gotta keep winning. They can't
lose this game to Tennessee. It's kind of a playoff
elimination game. But yeah, if Georgia wins out, is absolutely
one hundred percent going to be in the college football playoffs.

Speaker 3 (41:13):
Well let me ask that question though. Let's go to
their quarterback. What is Carson Beckett's.

Speaker 4 (41:16):
Going on.

Speaker 9 (41:19):
That you for all the nil money and for all
the things that go along with this, and for all
the Yeah, he is a NFL star at the point,
he's playing like the weight of the world is on
his shoulders. And it's kind of keep saying that the
two best teams in college football are Georgia at Ohio State,
and they're not quite playing like it. You know, they're

(41:40):
playing so tight. You can just see it with both
those teams. Every time there's a letting you know, oh no,
how State didn't convert on a third down? You know,
play there fire Ryan Day, it's over, Ah, Michigan is
and they go people go crazy. Georgia, it's opposed to
be that coud. You can see it though, when the
pressure is a little bit off or when it's really
on and they have to step it up like they

(42:01):
did at the end of the Florida game, or they
did in second African Alabama when they're really humming. You
can just see it that, Yeah, that seems different. They've
got all together. That's what a bunch of five star
guys look like who are going to end up in
the NFL. But right now with Beck, it's just kind
of like you can just telling you gets so you
know wired up that he's just you've just got to

(42:22):
relax a little bit and let's see what happens to
go forward. Let's see what he does tomorrow against Tennessee
because this is a good volunteer team with a great
pass rush. It's going to be in his face all
game long.

Speaker 4 (42:32):
No, Yeah, looking at back, he just looks like he
shows can you see it in his eyes? For sure?
But I want to talk about uh.

Speaker 7 (42:38):
By the way, Yeah, okay, that makes sense that I
want to talk about a team that nobody really talked
about coming too the year.

Speaker 5 (42:49):
They're ranked six in the country right now. But I
think they're going to lose this week. I think they're
going to lose tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (42:54):
But let's talk about BYU and what and what's going
on with them the number six right now, way over due.

Speaker 9 (43:00):
They got up all the end of the Yutah game.
It's you know, that's what that was about it. If
you're a BYU fan, this is about the happiest ye're
ever going to be because you just crushed your rival.
Your your rival had you. UTA's having an awful year.
Their season was about to be made. They had them.
It was a sack, and then everyone down the field celebrating.

(43:21):
Oh wait, there's a flag on the field. You know
you had that. You had the ad getting find what
forty thousand dollars for being mad about this and just
soul crushing fashion. So everything's kind of clicking for them.
But it's it's there needs to be a market correction
here because everyone in the Big twelve is beating everyone else.
It just so happens that BYU has sort of kept

(43:41):
having getting these magical moments. They've been playing well. They
take the ball away a ton, they force a ton
of mistakes, your offense is getting timely play, and even
after everything had happened that you took it, they still
had to march down and get that game winning field goal.
So they're playing really, really well, but you're right, if
that that is the team that if you're in the

(44:03):
college football playoff and you get to see the bracket,
you want them in that side. That's the one you
don't want Georgia, you don't want Old miss You're saying,
oh wait a second here, it's you know, yeah, we
want that b YU thing on our bracket side.

Speaker 6 (44:15):
Pete futech with us.

Speaker 3 (44:16):
He joins us each and every week here the Jason
Smith Show with me Mike Harman, No Jason Smith. This
week it's our guy Carrie Rhodes in his stead. You
hear us wherever audio heard. Download the podcast while we're
done here, and obviously read everything Pete's got going at
college Footballnews dot com at petefeu tech linked out there.
He's got previews for each and every game and deep

(44:37):
thought pieces about the college football world at large.

Speaker 4 (44:41):
So I'll go.

Speaker 3 (44:42):
There with the fun and excited mient of the heisman.
I brought up Carson Beck, you know for a while,
as let's get him cam Ward all these guys is jents.

Speaker 6 (44:51):
Can he actually win it?

Speaker 3 (44:53):
Or is the fact that he's labeled a running back
work against him? Can he throw a pass him?

Speaker 9 (44:57):
Yeah? Well yeah, yeah, it Hackle. Really they the problem
is no one really has seen him. You know, remember
this is just this is uh, it's a it's a
hype award, you know, it's a you know, it's a
it's a beauty contest. And yeah, here's this guy Janty.
All let's go watch it. And he's everywhere. Every time

(45:17):
he's been Oh you got to watch him. Here he
is on National TV on a Thursday night or something.
He's been good. But you had to see the whole
body of work to really get him. And his stats
aren't going to be so astronomical. I mean, he's gonna
leave the nation in rushing by a mile. But you're
not talking. This isn't you know, nineteen eighty eight Barry
Sanders stuff. Here At this point, he's he's just really
he's really really good. But again, it's a popularity contest.

(45:41):
So the problem with this is, all right, so who
else are we going to see the rest of the way,
you know, are going to seek? Is cam Ward ever
gonna play on TV?

Speaker 2 (45:49):
Again?

Speaker 9 (45:49):
I mean, they get no offense, so they get Syracuse
at the end, which, by the way, I think that's
that's Syracuse thing that's gonna screw up everything in the playoffs,
I think they beat Miami score. But if it not
Cam Moore to Dylan Gabriel, I mean, I mean, if
he's done anything, it says, oh there's the hidsand winner.
I mean, there's just nothing there. So I still think

(46:09):
this was my guy last year. I know, we had
to vote for Jalen Jalen Daniels and all that, and
he was obviously fantastic, But in terms of an MVP
and an MP and all that, who was the player
of the year it was really Jalen mill Row. And
if that LSU game, you know, got is any indication
in Alabama keeps rolling? If Alabama wins out, and that
means you know, we've just talked about Georgia, they can't

(46:31):
lose again, well neither can Alabama. If Alabama wins out,
wins the SEC Championship, that's probably because Jalen miil Row
is the best player in the country and he's gonna
take home the Hives.

Speaker 3 (46:43):
Well, as we look at the rest of the slate, pe,
is there anything that stands out from an upset perspective
to try to throw a monkey range into things tomorrow.

Speaker 9 (46:52):
Yeah, there's a lot of mid range games, which means
that you know it's November and so or dog names.
There are a lot of those games that there's nothing
to screaming obvious out there. You know, you're not gonna
get a house. They produe thing happening, but can't win. Yeah, exactly,
watch out for Actually, the game to watch tomorrow is

(47:14):
either Arizona State Kansas State because that is kind of
a big thing in the Big twelve race, and Pitt
versus Clemson early on because Clemson's Clemson's right there lurking.
I don't think, you know, they're not gonna do any
damage if they get in the a SEC Championship. But
the crazy part about this is if Clemson wins is
their last a SEC game tomorrow, If they win this,

(47:34):
they're in. You know, all the votes are counted. So
then if Miami loses again, then the I think they
get oh, they get Citadel next and then South Carolina.
In theory, they even sit there, guys for the next
three weeks because it doesn't matter what happens in their
next two games. What's done is done. They're not going
to get in that large bid. The only way they

(47:54):
get in is going to be through the a SEC championship.
So if they win tomorrow and you just rest all
your guys for a couple of weeks and come out,
you know, hammering in the ACC title game if you
get there, and if not, you go to a bowl
game anyway. So, but Pitt, if they play, if they
can start taking the ball away, that screws everything up
and all of a sudden, it's pretty much Miami versus

(48:15):
s m U for the ACC Championship at that point.

Speaker 5 (48:18):
Man s m U's really good too. A lot of
people haven't seen them play, but their offense really gets
up and down the field and they can actually get
after you. I'm actually interested, Pete in that Clemson pit
game because I think Pitt's going to win that game.

Speaker 9 (48:36):
It's not crazy, I mean it's it really does depend
I mean it depends on the the the turnover factory.
The two times Georgia's Clemson lost this year was in
the opener to Georgia and then a couple of weeks
ago to Louisville. Not my first time on it.

Speaker 3 (48:58):
You want me to send you a picture of this
ale carry's got on his face as you bring that up.

Speaker 9 (49:04):
Absolutely obvious. Two times this year where Clemson did not.
Clinton was able to not come up with a takeaway
and had Turtler pro sou so, as long as the
turnover battle comes on the right sid whoever wins the
turner battle win deck game.

Speaker 3 (49:18):
Well, he's Pete few Tech College Footballnews dot Com. Everything
you need for the college slate and the review. You
find him on Twitter x whatever we're calling it today
at Pete feuw Tech.

Speaker 4 (49:31):

it is Pete Ever. Changing appreciate you hanging out, but
it'd be good. Yeah, I actually got my name on
Blue Sky.

Speaker 4 (49:50):
Is what is blue Sky?

Speaker 6 (49:52):

Speaker 3 (49:53):
Because it goes with the other thing that you got
stuck in your craw about the social media role but
last week. We'll get into that next hour, But first
let's turn it over to our guy, the Grand Poobov
information here at Fox Sports Radio at the news desk.

Speaker 6 (50:07):

Speaker 8 (50:08):

Speaker 8 (50:15):
Time, Oh my God, mister Bluesky, very good.

Speaker 4 (50:19):

Speaker 8 (50:21):
Whatever, we're calling it, the popular hashtags in the past
hour as their continuous problems on this supposed fight that's
going to happen.

Speaker 4 (50:31):
But it's almost twelve o'clock.

Speaker 8 (50:32):
We've got hashtag no Netflix, We've got hashtag unwatchable. You see,
there have been plenty of video streaming problems with Netflix,
which is carrying all the fights on the card, and
eventually Jake Paul against Mike Tyson, which no has not
started yet. It is near eleven forty Eastern time. We

(50:54):
did just have Katie Taylor narrow win her narrowly win
her super lightweight belt, so there's only one fight left
on the cart. We'll leave it at that. On to
college football. On Fox TV, Washington is leading UCLA fourteen
thirteen late third quarter, and on FS one late second quarter,
Arizona is still up on Houston seven to nothing. UTSA

(51:15):
in the fourth leads North Texas forty one twenty seven.
The other game tonight was at Colorado State. The Rams
are five and zero on the Mountain West after beating
Wyoming twenty four to ten Wyoming two and eight. They
had nine first downs, eight punts, Tonight.

Speaker 4 (51:29):
Saturday.

Speaker 8 (51:30):
It's Utah at number seventeen, Colorado noon Eastern Time on Fox,
then Nebraska USC after that to the NFL. Bill's tight
end Dalton Kincaid is out this weekend with a knee injury.
Buffalo wide receiver key On Coleman with a wrist injury.
We'll miss another game this Sunday. Bill's wide receiver Amari
Cooper is questionable with a wrist injury. He was optimistic
he'll be playing Sunday. It's against the Chiefs. Chiefs kicker

(51:52):
Harrison Butker had his left knee surgery. He'll miss at
least four weeks. Chiefs running back Isaiah Pacheco is still
out with an ankle injury. Lions tight end Sam Laporta
with a bad shoulder out as Detroit host Jacksonville Sunday.
Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence is out with a left shoulder injury.

Speaker 2 (52:09):
To the NBA.

Speaker 4 (52:09):
There are two late games.

Speaker 8 (52:11):
Minnesota leads late third quarter at Sacramento eighty eight seventy
one despite twenty five points from the Kings di Aaron Fox,
and mid third quarter at Golden State, the Warriors were
up sixty eight fifty five against Memphis. Everything else is final,
including a Laker win at San Antonio one twenty to
one fifteen, Lebron James with his fourth straight triple double.

(52:31):
New Orleans beat Denver. Nikola Jokic was out for personal reasons.
Oklahoma City ripped Phoenix the thunder eleven and two. Cleveland
now fourteen and oh after its win over Chicago, Detroit
and Miami with wins, and Orlando won it's fifth straight
ninety eight eighty six over Philadelphia Phillies record two and ten.

Speaker 3 (52:49):
Back to you, he's skeptical about the spectacle. He's our guy,
Skeeth de Sega at the news desk. Thanks, Steve, appreciate you.
Mike Carbon Kerry Rhoades with you. And they just put
up to ten with the tape. Right near's the the
imaging for Paul and Tyson. Paul's going by the moniker
El Gayo. Really, that's what it's it flashed up. That's

(53:10):
that's what he's coming in as El Gayo. What is
he gonna wear a rooster hat or something? Probably, yeah,
he had the thing on in one of his training
sessions or something. Right, Yeah, I don't know, all right,
it's a yeah, whatever it's time.

Speaker 6 (53:22):
Yeah, if you're watching yay, well we'll have it all.

Speaker 3 (53:26):
For you here because we are suckers for the gluttonsment.

Speaker 5 (53:32):
Somebody said, it looks like he's like one of those
Nigerian scammers.

Speaker 4 (53:37):
That was pretty funny. Oh, that was pretty funny.

Speaker 6 (53:40):
Well, is he wearing a coofee? He's got a coofee? Yeah?
I once got one.

Speaker 3 (53:47):
Uh, someone gave me one after traveling abroad and I
put it on once and I had two family members
say things I could never possibly.

Speaker 4 (53:56):
Don't wear it again.

Speaker 6 (53:56):
Repeat yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (53:58):
It was most just appointing thing I've ever had about
extended to have any picture pictures of this. Uh, no head,
no proof. My head was too damn big for it too,
so that didn't need it. Now, we'll see if we
can find it. I might still have that in a
box somewhere, my guy canoos if you got one, send
one out to me, will you at Swallow'd home where

(54:19):
you find me in the Twitter verse? Fine, Carrie at
Carrie twenty five Roads. Check out his music, his videos,
everything he's got popping there, and his thoughts at the
sporting world and our social media world at large. We'll
do that a little bit later on, but coming up next, Uh,
the NBA making some more alterations. Sure we rename this tournament.
Sure we added more prize money. Let's keep tinkering, shall we?

(54:44):
Do we care anymore? That's the question I want to ask,
and we'll answer it next here on Fox
