Speaker 1 (00:29):

Tirac dot com is the way tire buying should be. Now,
before we begin, we get this out of the way. Yeah,
we get this out of the way. Big football Friday, obviously,
lots of big NBA Cup night tonight. It is e
Cup night, Emirates. Can we just call it a cup?
Do you have called Emirates cup. It's kind of awkward
because it's a cup night. Okay, I just don't want

(01:11):
to give the like they're not paying us. So no,
but it's insane. It's Emirates cut like to say Emirates
like the eye runs into Emirates. No, a cup sounds
better if I can say it's shorter and faster and
sound cooler. I'm gonna do it. Hey, it's a cup night. Oh,
it's an e cup night. I didn't know.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
I bought one of those from my mom because I
thought it would be better to get her coffee quickly.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
And oh, I'm sorry you bought your mom an athletics supporter.
Oh okay, oh sorry, one of the because you know
they have holes in the athletics before. You can't cut
the uh anyway, So let me just get that to
get this out of it drained fine enough, anyway, Just
get this out of the way. Tonight. It was twelve
years ago tonight. Yeah, young younger Jason Smith was watching

(01:53):
a Thanksgiving night game, not expecting a lot of a
giant play. The food in front of you. No, food
was already done, foods already. I remember where I was.
I was standing behind my couch and I watched it happen,
and I said, they're going to play that playback for
the rest of my life. Yeah. It's those moments that
kind of sneak up on you, that just hitch out

(02:13):
of nowhere, going, yeah, that's gonna be something big that
you're going to think about a lot for the rest
of your life tonight. The butt Fumble turns twelve, twelve
years old years old, the butt Fumble early a teenage,
twelve years almost there, almost ready to tell you, screw you.
I'm going to play the butt fumble whatever you want.
You're not my real dad. All those kinds of things

(02:34):
that escalated. I just remember I was just a little
pot the slamming the door on me. Now we have
twenty people and it was timing on.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
Everybody's going to the trough to eat, and I'm like,
I'll come in after this possession.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
What the hell just happened?

Speaker 3 (02:50):
And then all of a sudden, one by one people
trickled back and it was back when it was TVO.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
So yeah, and you watched it and then you rewound
it again, going, I really that really just happened. Probably
watched it fifteen times before anybody, and meanwhile someone is
there was one little kid who just was stealing all
the treats off the table because nobody was paying attention.
And it was in the middle of a run where

(03:16):
what was it, three plays in a row, three touchdowns,
crazy as jet's getting drilled, you know, and you know
it's it's one of those The butt fumble is is
almost like a piece of music where when you listen
to it for most of your life and you think, Okay,
this is the part you've listened to, but then you
get to a section of life you go, oh man,
you know, I'm really I'm really picking up this part

(03:36):
of this music this time, I'm really picking this up.
I'm the rhythm. I was just having a conversation about that,
mister Brownstone with a couple of people the other day
about how the rhythm guitar just completely makes that makes
that song come in and Izzy stradding, wow right, I'm like, oh,
you know, so it's like a piece of It's like
every time you love Yes as the as the as

(03:58):
Shuffle at All is as the an album that was
as the As as time goes on, like different things
come to me and what I really come to now
the last few years now because obviously, but Fumbile being
twelve is the last couple of years, you know, seeing
it and then having discussions like this, I really can't
believe that Mark Sanchez was running into the middle of
the line of scrimmage and it was like he was

(04:21):
surprised that he had contact. He had his arm on
the ball and everything he had it held the right way.
But he's running into the middle of the line like
he's a running.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
Back about getting around Vince will form any entire career.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
And he was surprised that he got contact.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
So why he's a Hall of Fame Top twenty five
in the next round of balloty because he was so
easy to evade.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
You know, the more times ago. What a bad play
and here Sanchez a busted play and he gets hit
and Brandon Moore falls back. But it's like he was
running into the middle of the line and contact. K
was like, oh I expecting that, dude, You're running into
the middle of the line. How do you not expecting contact?
How are you holding your hands? He has hands the
size of mud like my leg and still he's able

(05:06):
to fumble the football. I think that you know, when
the measure his hands like nine to three quarters. I
think the measurement of his hands is like three feet
and still he was able not to be able to
hold onto the football. Yeah, I'm gonna see if he's
on cameo and see if he'll send you a video
explaining it all to you. Do you think he gets
a lot of emails to that. You've got a lot
of requests today. Oh, I'm sure today. Hey dude, well
you said if you can bol my friend?

Speaker 3 (05:26):
Sure?

Speaker 1 (05:27):
What is it? What is it? What do you got? Frostburg?

Speaker 4 (05:29):
The butt fumble was so twelve years ago. We don't
celebrate that year anymore. We celebrate the new butt fumble.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
What do you mean? No, no, no, it's not a
butt fumble. It's not.

Speaker 4 (05:38):
But we celebrate. This is our This is our This
is what we celebrate this You ready go ahead?

Speaker 1 (05:44):
What do we celebrate? We don't celebrate the butt fumble
here anymore? Okay, what are we celebrating? Protection?

Speaker 5 (05:52):
Breaks down in time, runs out, down, goes.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
Rogers in the sack for Leonard Floyd.

Speaker 5 (06:03):
Knew This year and after spending three years with the Rams,
the former first round pick of the Bears and now
Rogers sits down. That's a lowsomer on the play, and
hopefully that's the Jets are thinking.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
That's the only loss on that play. That's bad. See
what happened at the end of it. That's the d karma, man.
See what happened Frostburg. Wait, do you see what happens
to you in your teams? Now?

Speaker 4 (06:31):
You will take a look here at the very end
and doesn't.

Speaker 1 (06:34):
Well, I can't believe it's the injury. He had the
calf issue in training camp.

Speaker 5 (06:40):
But here's a little better look as to go back
down to the ground.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
All right, you wait, what happened was? Watch what happens?

Speaker 2 (06:47):
Now?

Speaker 1 (06:47):
What are your doings? Your ass? The curb stump? Watch
out man, you want to play? There's some I really
felt we're.

Speaker 5 (06:54):
Gonna gets that's it that a few plays into game one,
Zach Will, the former number two overall pick from BYU
who's made twenty two starts in the NFL, is thrown
fifteen touchdowns eighteen picks.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
Yeah, yeah, anniversary, he's gonna keep going. I really, I
really better make a tone for your sin. I really
thought we were going to get the fail Mary, because
it's almost a year for that one, right, sure, but.

Speaker 3 (07:24):
I mean really all this is like, this is a
this is your life because it's the end of your
birthday week.

Speaker 1 (07:29):
The Thanksgiving weekend is awful for the Jets, right the
fail Mary was on a Friday, the Black Friday. It
was Black Friday, right, So it's like the entire weekend
is just awful. It's like Thanksgiving. There are no good
memories now, there's no good memories. Now, there's none, not one,
not one. And now Rex Ryan wants to coach the
Jets and he's gonna come back. And I saw some

(07:50):
folks theorizing maybe they just bring back the brain trust
that he got Mark Sanchez and those teams out to
the AFC title game. This is how general manager and all.
This is how defeated I know who can't have that.
This is how defeated I am. He has gone on
a run the last couple of weeks, openly canvassing to
get the Jets job back, to be the Jets head
coach again. But we needn't do it till Robert Sala

(08:10):
was fired. I want to I want this job. I'm
the best guy. The interview yesterday in New York saying
we don't need to blow the roster up. I'd be
undefeated with these guys. Where okay, Rex, the last couple
of years you are absolutely terrible. But okay, all this
stuff at all and it's just laughable, right, it's absolutely left. Well, okay, Rex, Ryan,
here's how it defeated I am because this is honestly

(08:31):
where I am. Why the blank? Not right? Why not?
It's such a clown show. Who are you gonna get? Anyway,
especially after this week when everybody found out your owner
is Jerry Jones, but a lower profile firing people doing
things because of social media, calling for practices, not giving
money to the GM to give a player that you

(08:53):
said you were going to give him money. Like people
understand now that he's the worst owner. He's Jerry Jones,
except he's just a little bit lower profile interviews all
the time saying look at all the bad things I'm doing.
But so like, who are we gonna get? Like, who
are the Jets gonna get to be their GM or
head coach? That's gonna say that's where I want to go.
It's gonna be more of the same. So if that's
the case, knowing that I no longer expect anything from

(09:15):
the Jets. I'm at that point because I had that
point in my life with a lot of people. I
knew it. I'm like, you know what, I'm just not
expecting anything anymore. I'm gonna never expect anything and that
will never be disappointed. Tough way to leave life, but
also an easy way to leave expect from people. So
I'm like, okay, so people don't come through, I'm okay
with that. But I feel that like that's like I
no longer expect anything from the Jets. And I don't

(09:37):
know what it was. Maybe it's over the last month.
It wasn't one moment of the year where I thought, ah,
you know, this is just this, this is the moment,
this is a straw that broke my back. No, it's
just over the meth month. I'm like, you know what,
I'm just never it's never gonna change, right or or
I think it's never gonna change. So I will no
longer expect anything, and if something good happens, then I'll

(09:58):
be surprised. But I'm not. And you think, no, no, Jason,
you're gonna be back. No, I've learned my last so
many times. No, you'll be many times. Man, You'll be back.
But nobody have friends that you know.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
After many years, find the males finally felt a little
beaten down, so he agreed to get married. So in
his vows, he's like, well, like water erodes rock, here.

Speaker 1 (10:20):
We are today. So that's kind of where you are.
It's a slow, even process of erosion. Even finally we're here.
Even Elizabeth Taylor realized I can't marry Richard Burton again.
I'm done. Well, Richard Burton died. I had helped, right,
okay did but you got My point is that no, absolutely, buddy, real,
everybody's gotta have it. Look, everybody's got a moment more.

(10:41):
I can't do it, and you'll be back. So they
went because they no, that's great. You're gonna fail fail spectacular.
I mean, you use the Elizabeth Taylor Burton, I'll go
to the Seinfeldian world. This is Dennis O'Hare putting the
crown back.

Speaker 3 (10:55):
Out, whiz and nobody beats me because that's exactly what
Rex Ryan would do.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
Uh so you know, why not? Why not do it?
And how about a fresco if you want to mock
the return of Rex Ryan. So we got more football
coming your way in a few minutes. Why not? Why
not bring Rex? Butck why not? But just to kind
of put the cherry on top of the Sunday that
we served you earlier in the week when it came
to Joel Embiid, it was Monday. We talked about it

(11:24):
Monday or Tuesday, when I think even the most staunchest
of non believers would have to agree with us. Where, Okay,
the end of the Joel Embiid era in Philadelphia is
coming right. Things are just not progressing to the point
where he looks like he's happy. There's controversy, he suspended
before he even took the floor. He's sick, he can't play,
He's heard he can't play, he was hurt, he couldn't

(11:45):
play tonight, swelling and look, it's it's just not it's
at the point of no return where the Sixers have
gotten everything they're gotten out of him. He looks like
and seems like he is unplugged from his situation in
Philadelphia and it's time to move on. And what's gonna
make it easier? What do we tell you was a
couple of things. Continuing to lose games obvious because then

(12:06):
we got to trade. We have nothing to do but
the ascension of star players is gonna make Joel Embiid expendable.
And we talked about the ascension of Tyres MAXI as
good as he has been looked at. Traded for Paul George,
but he got dinged up. But you watch tonight man,
Jared McCain, another thirty point night for the Sixers. He
had hit one big shot and turned around and screamed,

(12:26):
I'm the rookie of the year, which I kind of like,
you know, like three weeks into the season, Hey, I'm
the rookie of the year so far he is. I mean,
so no one's having the rookie season that McCain is having.
This is gonna make it so much easier for the
Sixers to say, you know what, this is who we're
building our team around right now, and yes, we'll get
something for Joel Embiid. I think they would laugh from
come back and play pretty well for a little bit,

(12:48):
so they know they're trading a guy that is healthy,
ish and wants to have a new start somewhere. You
want to get as much as you can for him.
But Philadelphia has found Look Max, He's become a star.
And McCain looks like he's going to be absolutely phenomenal.
I mean, the guy doesn't lack for confidence when you're
making a shot and turn around going I'm the rookie
of the year. But here's what's this seven to thirty
point game of the year. Already, they have young talent

(13:10):
coming in, they've gotten they've seen the best of Joel
emb Right, they've gotten the best. He's won an MVP.
He's on the wrong side of thirty. This relationship has
run its course, and the ascension of another star is
going to make it easier to happen. And the more
and more I think I said, hey, by the deadline,
if not the offseason, not the latest. Now I'm thinking
the deadline, that's when it happens. By offseason, that it's

(13:31):
going to be the deadline and no chance on the off.

Speaker 3 (13:33):
Season fifty six, nine and eight between McCain and MAXI.
McCain also doing that because he knows someone has a
camera for him, because he is very popular on TikTok
to the point where my daughters who really couldn't give
a damn about the NBA know who he is. Wow, Really,
that's how many followers he got.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
Okay, he has and how.

Speaker 3 (13:55):
He starts to bleed into other timelines. They know who
he is, asking me, Hey, is he any good? Yeah,
kid's gonna be pretty good. Right, rookie had to duke
having himself a run. But yeah, the Embid thing's done right,
because you're also looking at a what does it take
to get on the court?

Speaker 1 (14:12):
But how much are you willing to do to get
on the court? Right? We talk about that a lot.

Speaker 3 (14:17):
I mean literally in their box score notes did not
play left knee injury management and left knee injury. It's
not so what you're saying is he might be able
to play right, and you you've coached, you know, youth sports,
and you've got folks that are like, all right, could
you push through this?

Speaker 1 (14:36):
Probably?

Speaker 3 (14:37):
Are you gonna no. That's where we're at in the
Joel Embiid thing. He's rich beyond all wildest belief. People
are gonna believe what they believe about him at this point. Right,
He's not winning anybody over new or converting anybody one
way or another. It's like arguing with your family over
politics at the Thanksgiving day table, Right, it doesn't matter.
You're not convincing anybody. Same thing here, Joel embiid. People

(15:02):
are even going to say, Wow, what a great body
of work. And he battles through myriad injuries blah blah blah,
and his body's just broken down. You can go reason
slash excuse, or you can just say he doesn't have
the same drive he once did. I think both can
depending on your point of view, both of those could
be true. And for the Sixers, what that means is
you're not winning. And you know you're not winning with him.

(15:23):
You didn't win when he was at his best. You're
not winning.

Speaker 1 (15:25):
Now, start photoshopping those new jerseys. It's happening. It's happening.
I don't mean start photoshopping those new jerseys. Well, they

It's an Emirates Cup, No, we'll call it E Cup night.

Speaker 3 (16:42):
I looked up at one of our monitors. I'm like, Wow,
that court's really boring. I'm like, oh wait, it's a
UCLA home game. I'm used all the la Yeah yeah,
I'm like, playn't do anything special for that book.

Speaker 1 (16:55):
Cate boring. Oh wait a minute. They made it look
like Polly Pavilion. Oh it is Paul Pavilion. Wow, that's
that's like an inception kind of thing.

Speaker 3 (17:02):
We just made it look like, well, we're paying tribute
to one of our former players who went to UCLA.

Speaker 1 (17:07):
It's a throwback night. Hey, just really quick, Okay, a game,
we'll get to college. We got the two big college
football games. Is gonna preview coming up in a few minutes,
but the under the radar game of the day that
is going to have huge, huge ramifications huge USC and
u c l A. Oh yeah, neither team is good.

(17:30):
But obviously it's fair to say, Okay, you expected that
from UCLA, but they're at least trending in the right direction.
They seem to have some semblance of I'm not saying.

Speaker 3 (17:39):
They're good, but they always playing a little bit of
cohesive football.

Speaker 1 (17:42):
They've already won more games in the Big Ten that
this year than I thought they were going to, So
so there's that's fair. I thought they're gonna be. They're
gonna be. You know, they're gonna finish season, you know,
three and nine. But USC UCLA tomorrow on NBC, and UCLA,
with two games left, needs to win both to become

(18:03):
Bowl eligible. USC is five and five. They have U
c l A end, no tre Dame left, no tra Dame.
Both teams need this to be Bowl eligible. Obviously UCLA
needs it more because they would have their they would
suffer their their seventh floss and then you're only going
unless we only have if we have enough six win

(18:25):
teams to fill it.

Speaker 4 (18:26):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (18:26):
But if USC loses to UCLA tomorrow, there are certain
rubicons you cannot cross, even even now. No, no, well
we'll forgive a lot. There are certain rubicons you cannot cross.
If Lincoln Riley loses to UCLA tomorrow, that gets them
one step closer to Bowl eligibility and pushes USC out

(18:49):
of Bowl eligibility. That's gonna be the ball game. And
we talked about Brian Kelly over the last couple of nights, said, hey,
when when you lose the number one recruiting country and
he flips to another school when you had him for
the last nine ten months, you know that the Brian
Kelly situation is really worse than anybody anticipated. Blinking red

(19:10):
lights that this could be it for Brian Kelly at LSU.
All the money for contracts, you see, guys, get out
of it, right, Mel Tuckers should still be in the
middle of that big contract. Decide, well, look that money
is gone. You can get out of these deals. Yes,
and you see, yeah, coach is making more money. Look
they're coming they're coming up. With nil money. Now with
ten million dollars for one player. Okay, so yeah, they

(19:33):
can buy out coaches if they want to. If Lincoln
Riley loses this game and here's UCLA with a win
and then the triumphants fit, UCLA gets to a bowl US,
he does it because they're not beating Notre Dame. Lincoln
Riley is gone. He is absolutely gone. And I don't
I don't know. If they wait, they might do it

(19:55):
right after the note. If they lose to the UCLA
bad enough, they might do it right after the game.
USC might just say we've had it. I'm not taking
all these phone calls from all these irate alums telling
me they're pulling their nil money. They're probably got We're
doing it now. This just hasn't worked out, and really
it hasn't. His buyout is ninety million dollars. So you
have to start call and say you have to call
Will Ferrell and say, will you got some cash? Man?

(20:16):
I Portinoy's wearing a crown because he had to just
tell peoples for the guy in Michigan, well you made
a lot of bleeping money. Man. You're just doing this
commercial where you're singing you won't do ELF two, but
you'll do whatever crazy ass commercial this is that you're
gonna singing. How about you do ELF two and take
the money you're gonna get, give it to us. We'll
buy out Lincoln Riley. Help people do PayPal, you person
to person, you know where you go. I know ninety

(20:39):
million dollars is a lot. I want to pay with
you everywhere here you go, Lincoln. But USC football means
so much to so many people, and you're talking about
a downward trend of the best year was the you
hire this guy to come in. The best year was
still the first year. And the second year is not
as good as the first, The third year is not
as good as a second. It's like the Hunger Games trilogy.
The first book movie was eight, the second one was

(21:01):
not quite as good as the first, third one not
quite as good as the second, and they stopped after that.
Now we're going back and we're doing prequels. And that
prequel was pretty good. Prequel was good because you went
back now. But you can't can't do that in sports.
So you're saying this is each year is it's not
trending better. You just lost the number two overall recruit
in the twenty twenty five class who decided, Hey, I'm
going man, sorry, I'm going to Colorado. I know it's

(21:22):
the Big twelve and there's no good teams in the
Big twelve, but I don't care. I'm going there. I'm
leaving here. You are losing recruits. You are losing I
really if they losed, if it's embarrassing enough, he may
not make it till Monday. But clearly at the end
of this year. That's why this is. This is a
winner take all game for him. If he wins, he
can maybe pushed together. And even if they lose to

(21:44):
Notre Dame, it's six and six, We'll give you one
more chance. We'll go back. But if they lose this
game to UCLA, forget it like that, that's gonna be again.
I wouldn't be surprised if they was. They can't fire
him the tarmac because obviously they play in the same city.
They'll fire him on the freeway. That's they'll do. They'll
fire him on the freeway somehow when he's when he's
on the four h five driving home, they will fire
him somehow. There. They will have cars pull him over

(22:07):
and then fire.

Speaker 3 (22:07):
Him well, they save the embarrassment and the uncomfortable nature
of a flight because literally he gets in his car
in the problem.

Speaker 1 (22:16):
Yeah yeah, so I there's ninety million. We only know
eighty nine million, nine hundred and ninety four thousand because
we have to pay for that flight. That's hey, you know,
you don't have to tell you that. We're already cut
it down. We're already under ninety million. Let's note offense offensively.

Speaker 3 (22:30):
You look at it, about a twelve point differential per
game of what us he accomplishes versus UCLA. Uh, UCLA
worst than the Big ten, averaging eighty five rushing yards
per game. But anything gonna happen, because you know what,
we're only one play away, all right, you change quarterbacks.

Speaker 1 (22:47):
You did all that.

Speaker 3 (22:48):
He's stolen the old wanstat line when he was with
the Bears. All the pieces are in place, was what
he famously said. And whenever we go down the annals
of Bears coaches, just like we just did with your
timeline of jet stuff, that that that quote comes back up.
Uh ditka's this too shell pass when he was fired.

(23:09):
You might want to cycle that one up for Lincoln Riley.
I joke the other day that they'll be passing the
hat at halftime if they're behind, What do you got
in the back pocket? Come by, come on, let's go. Yeah,
I got I got a square reader. Here's my VENMO,
here's my QR code. Let's go. Let's get that fun going. Man,
If you are motivated enough, anything can happen. Money can
be figured out. The fact that, again, Jason, he didn't

(23:32):
bother to show up. It's like it's it's your rivalry week,
whether you want to, whether you want to buy in
fully or not. At USC you would be expected to,
all right, we're gonna go out. I got I gotta
go act for ten minutes and give a half assed
speech in front of folks, in front of the broosters.
You're too too worried about the five guys that might
be a little inebriated that are going to heckle you

(23:54):
that for the third straight year you don't show up. Yeah, yeah,
how about it like when you show the discodd act
when you never have a honeymoon.

Speaker 1 (24:05):
That's a huge red flag. With every every coach that hired,
every school that hires a coach that pays this kind
of money or goes crazy, there's always at least a
honeymoon period of some kind. No, however short it is,
there was no honeymoon period. The period less what They
started out four and oh. Uh the first year with
Caleb Williams. They started off four and oh and that

(24:26):
was it and then it was all that we were like,
there's no honeymoon period. And he had the he had
the number one overall picking the draft on a Heisman
Trophy winner, and still he didn't win enough. He didn't
eight and five defense is terrible.

Speaker 3 (24:39):
Caleb Williams is looking around, but what the hell else
can I do? Like it's just the stands with his
mom and all those things.

Speaker 1 (24:45):
It's just been a bad fit. And it's just never word.
It doesn't mean Lincoln Riley's not a good football coach.
It means that it just never worked here. Where you can,
you can, you can chalk it up. Tell her he
wasn't ready for la If. He came in with a
too much attitude. He didn't know how to recruit well
enough on the West Coast. Some of the talent he
brought in wasn't as good as he thought it was.

(25:05):
All of these things are different reasons, right, You can
you can lay him down. Yes, that was great. That
was great. But bottom line is it's just never worked.
There's never been that closeness of hey, we're embracing a
new coach here to Los Angeles. Right, He's always seemed
to have been at odds.

Speaker 4 (25:19):
Right.

Speaker 1 (25:19):
Yeah, the one kid fired uh from the because it
was who was uh writing stuff in the student newspaper wherever?
I mean this is. This has never worked. It's just
been awkward from the beginning. And it's it's it's like
when you when you get a roommate in college, or
you know, you advertise your roommate and comes to stay
with you, Like, okay, great, you think things are gonna
be good. Oh, I think we're gonna get along. Great,

(25:40):
everything's gonna be awesward, Like the same movies. Uh, you know,
we work, same schedule, we like the same TV shows.
That's great, But then you come home. It's like, dude,
you can't leave your underwear all over the living room
right to stop doing that. Then you come home it's like,
why is all the stuff spilled on the floor. It's like, okay,
you know what, it's not working. Then you say, who's
underwear of these? Yes, you say there's all of that
that's circling in. Why is my underwear just missing? Now

(26:01):
it's just missing. I don't have any I don't know
where it is. It's that kind of situation where all right,
you thought it was gonna work, but it didn't, and
it's not getting better. No, it's just not getting better.
I mean, really, he loses to UCLA tomorrow. I don't
know that he makes it to Monday. Just think about that.

Speaker 3 (26:17):
Big ten wins are over Nebraska. That was that was
a pretty good win back in week one or two.
Other you said it's a pretty big win back in
nineteen eighty seven. I was gonna go for it, but
I said, all right, Steve Taylor was pretty good. Mike
Rozier Man, that was a good team. Oh that was
really good. Back to when Scott Frost was a player
for them. But Eric Crouch they shut him ball. Look,

(26:38):
it had but just the idea of at the beginning,
the beginning of the season, a little bit of juicsh remember,
because when they beat Colorado, what a big deal that was?
Ripple effects? How long ago was that?

Speaker 1 (26:49):
Right?

Speaker 3 (26:49):
You got them and you got the State College of
New Jersey. Those are your two wins in the Big ten.

Speaker 1 (26:54):
Yeah, telling you man does it, he won't make it
till Monday. And if he doesn't, I already know who
is the coach in waiting to replace him, you do.
I already know. It's one thing. What he is here
with us, one guy, and he's about to tell us
what's trending. It is Steve de Sager, the US had
football coach in waiting. You didn't wear your USC color
side thought you would.

Speaker 6 (27:14):
Apparently all you have to do is learn how to
say fight on yeah and play no defense and that
job is yours.

Speaker 1 (27:20):
Yeah, there you go. That's great. Can you do both
those things? We're one play away? All right? Good to
make sure well, depending maybe some games you're like seven
or ten plays away. Make sure you know the exact
number of plays, and.

Speaker 6 (27:30):
We can narrow it down. If we just had that
thing right before halftime, we would have.

Speaker 1 (27:33):
Wag with the guy in the plays. We just had
more points than they did, we would have won this game.

Speaker 6 (27:37):
You failed to mention how USC shut down I am
hip in that one Nebraska game.

Speaker 1 (27:42):
Oh yeah, sure, sure, sure I am. When you talk
about Bowl eligible.

Speaker 6 (27:47):
Yahoo Sports pointed out this week that here we've got
all these bowl games, plus the playoff teams. We already
have sixty plus teams that are bowl eligible. There are
currently over one hundred college football teams that are on
the path to being in a bowl game, including USC
and UCLA, who face each other late tomorrow night.

Speaker 1 (28:05):
Do you have it? Are they really on the path?
Let's rank them? Like, what kind of path of that?
This is like we have to walk across a lot
of broken glass and lava. Yeah, but do we get
to watch the committees choose? No? I want to watch.
Come on, that's great television. We just got you.

Speaker 6 (28:22):
Get more people and you're in. You're going to the
quick Lane Bowl. O. Congratulations.

Speaker 1 (28:26):
Studies show these people buy more T shirts and foam fingers. Hey,
get them. Here. As someone who has been to the
quick lane ball, yes, I've been to the quick lane ball.

Speaker 6 (28:34):
Syracuse is already in a bowl. But you know, in
the ACC there are five teams that are five and
five right on the CUSP.

Speaker 1 (28:42):
Mathematica close, mathematically close in the Big ten right.

Speaker 6 (28:51):
Now, mathematically every team could play in a bowl game,
including USC and UCLA. What, of course, once you realize
that Nebraska is still in the Big Ten, maybe that
won't be happening.

Speaker 1 (29:03):
Let's not write that.

Speaker 6 (29:04):
In pen just now, because the Nebraska Cornhuskers, with Bowl
eligibility on the line, have lost nine straight games, so
maybe standing by on that one. There is college football,
by the way, on Fox TV.

Speaker 1 (29:19):
It is Friday night.

Speaker 6 (29:20):
We got a couple minutes to go at Michigan State
and the Spartans lead Perdue twenty four to ten. Perdue
ready to fall to one to ten on the season.
Five minutes to go utsa over Temple forty four to
twenty seven, and its late first quarter on FS one
number twenty four. UNLV is scoreless at San Jose State.
New York Giants are releasing quarterback Daniel Jones.

Speaker 1 (29:40):
Forty nine.

Speaker 6 (29:41):
Ers QB Brock Perty is out this weekend with a
sore shoulder. Eagles wide receiver Devonte Smith is out with
a hamstring injury. The Broncos at Chargers Week sixteen game
was flexed from a Sunday to a Thursday night December nineteenth,
instead of Browns at Bengals that night. This is the
first time an NFL game has ever been flexed into
Thursday night football. As for the NBA, We've got a

(30:03):
couple of late games about to start. The Clippers are
hosting Sacramento. Dallas is at Denver. Late first quarter, Dallas
up thirty to twenty eight. Nikola Jokic is playing as
eleven points early. Everything else is final, including wins for
Chicago and Houston. For Golden State and Milwaukee, which has
beaten Indiana one twenty nine, one seventeen. Janisan tenecunpo a

(30:24):
triple double, Jalen Brown for Boston thirty one points in
a comeback win at Washington. Wizards have lost ten straight.
Philadelphia ended a five game losing streak beating Brooklyn one
thirteen ninety eight, even though out for at least a
couple games each due to knee injuries. Are Paul George
and Joel Embiid. Men's college hoops Number eleven Tennessee is

(30:44):
destroying thirteenth rank Baylor in the Bahamas fifty two to
twenty eight early in the second half.

Speaker 1 (30:50):
We've got a.

Speaker 6 (30:51):
Late game in college hoops coming up with Hawaii hosting
number ten North Carolina. That's still a couple hours away
from tip.

Speaker 1 (30:57):
Back to you, Thank you. Steve Spencer with Mike Carmen
live from the tirerac dot Com studios. So I look,
I would love to sit here and tell you, oh yeah,
everything's gonna be fine. There's no way. Look, as we've
seen with money, how many stories do we have to say,
oh no, there's too much money involved in No anything
with money can be figured out, Like how many time?

(31:17):
How many stories have we had just in the last
three years where it's that will never happen. It's too
much money, too much money, the buyouts, too much money,
the dead money, dead cap money is too much. No,
the dead cat and buy out money. Wasn't too much
for Aaron Rodgers. It's not gonna be too much for
Deshaun Watson. It wasn't enough for mel Tucker. It's not
gonna be it's not gonna be too much for Brian Kelly.
And it's not gonna be too much for It wasn't
too much for Russell Wilson. You know, it's not gonna

(31:39):
be too much for at the end, for Lincoln Riley. Okay,
they can figure out it. People will eat money. Everybody
is hungry here in the United States. They will eat
money if they have to. It can happen, trust me,
it can happen to.

Speaker 3 (31:52):
All played well played, Obviously for the Broncos, they were
able to go to Bo Nick's on the rookie deal.
It solved all those salary cap problems like we find
out in any giffns. All right, draft Day, Draft Day,
Draft Day. But I know Michigan States on against Purdue here,
but boy, you're really just dragging melt Tucker all over.

Speaker 1 (32:11):
I remember because he was the guy that started the
whole superstar coach contrack.

Speaker 3 (32:15):
And then he was and then Okay, I still want
to know. I still want to know what Gus got
chipped off for that.

Speaker 1 (32:20):
Man. I'll tell you. Uh, Exit up out of Fresco,
Exit Swallen Dome. Jason Smith, Mike Carbon. Coming up next,
we'll get back into the biggest quarterback story of the
day in the National Football League. Something we told you
last night is absolutely coming true after what we saw
earlier today. That's next right here, Jason and Mike. You
are listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 5 (32:45):
Knew this year and after spending three years with the Rams,
the former first round pick of the Bears and now
Rogers sits down.

Speaker 2 (32:56):

Be sure to follow rate review it as well. Again,
just search Jason Smith and Mike Harmon wherever you get

(33:28):
your podcast. You'll see today's show. Right after we get
off the air. You get our big take on this
could be the final weekend for Lincoln Riley as USC
head coach. He had a run. Yeah yeah, see see
now you're learning you can't just default. He had a
good run because it's not a good run. Well but
here run. But here's the thing. It's a run.

Speaker 3 (33:47):
I would argue from the perspective of Lincoln Riley's bank account.

Speaker 1 (33:50):
It was a good run. Lincoln, well, that will continue
to have a good run. But that's what I mean.
No matter what happens here, the bank account will get
media as long as he doesn't read the notes on
the internet and people don't randomly get his phone number,
you know, like that one guy put out Joe Douglas's
phone number, Albin each man called Joe d.

Speaker 3 (34:10):
As long as that doesn't happen to Lincoln Riley, he
can avoid a lot of it. Yeah, okay, because they'll
go coach somewhere else. You know, it will be the
offensive coordinator for the Bears, go coach the Jets.

Speaker 1 (34:21):
So, speaking of quarterbacks, Daniel Jones is an ex member
of the Giants. Why they really accelerated that quickly. You know,
we talked about it last night and I said Giant
should hold on to him because he will be valuable.
They will get something for him in trade in the spring.
I get that, Hey, if he's around, it's really difficult.

(34:42):
We know we're moving on from him. Is it worth
it to get to March whatever it is and whatever
draft pick we get. But what we said last night,
I'm doubling down on it now. Daniel Jones will start
in the NFL next year. He will be a starting
quarterback in the NFL next year. He will be a
bridge quarterback for a TI simply because math. All right, now,

(35:04):
the Giants, So he's gonna pass through way. No one's
taking on the contract anything else. He could be playing
for the Cowboys in a couple of weeks. Hey, he
gets right, got my star on the helmet ready all right?
He could be starting Thanksgiving Day against the Giants out
ready to go? How excited are you at thatspect out? Hey?
Would that? Would that get people to watch the game?
Jerry Jones? Yeah, sorry, Cooper and Trey, but the Jones

(35:26):
kid's gonna come in and start. Just pass through waivers.
He's here, already got a helmet for him, already got
his jersey, all ready to go. H So yeah, I
could absolutely see him starting against the Giants.

Speaker 3 (35:35):
But part of the pregame show is a Favorite and
finding your Roots with Gates and they figure out how
Daniel Jones is related to Jerry.

Speaker 1 (35:44):
Jones, Like see that, Well, hey, I call him son,
you gotta go out. I did one of the did
one of those twenty two and meet things and emit
Smith is doing and decided to. So he's gonna start
because quote math. The free agent group of quarterbacks in

(36:05):
the offseason is led by Sam Darnald, who is having
a nice season. But it's Sam Darnald. Are you really
gonna say? Oh, hey, you know what we're going all
out to get Sam Darnold. No, you're not doing that.
And then he's the best guy out there. He is
the best guy, which means all of the free agent

(36:26):
quarterback roster shuffle are gonna be guys coming in as backups.
Right then you go to the draft, Okay, well who's
gonna start. Well, you got two guys that are probably
gonna go on the top five. It's gonna be in
some order, Shador Sanders and cam Ward. All right, nobody
else is going I don't think in the first round
every mock draft there's no other quarterbacks there. Carson Beck

(36:46):
has to really play himself back into being the number
one pick in the draft. So you're talking about seven
or eight teams that need quarterbacks, and when you put
Daniel Jones's name in with that group, okay, a couple
of teams are going to sign it by saying we
got you Der Sanders and bang we have cam Ward.
These guys are gonna play right away or sooner rather

(37:07):
than later. So the backups are gonna be guys that
are gonna play for a couple of weeks. But Daniel
Jones is someone with starting experience, and again, he is stunk.
I'm not saying he's got but he is stunk. But
he is also someone who has had some tiny bit
of success in the NFL. He can start for a
little while, and if you like Sam Darnold coming in
and starting, hey, you can do a lot worse because

(37:27):
all the other guys out there are worse. So the
math does not work to say, yeah, Daniel Jones is
not gonna be seven or eight teams are gonna need quarterbacks.
A couple are gonna get him in the draft. Maybe
there's a trade for one other team. You're talking about
five or six other teams that are gonna draft a
guy outside of the first round that's going to need
some time. So now all of these teams to draft somebody,

(37:48):
they're gonna need somebody to start. And guess who's gonna
be the top of that list because of his starting experience.
Daniel Jones, Right, he did have that one great year
in twenty twenty two, which actually turned out to be
a good year and one great playoff game. Maybe we
could reach capture that a little bit, because you could
talk yourself into a lot of crazy ass stuff in
the off season. But when it gets to free agency
and or when it gets to the off season and
people get a little itchy, is like, ooh, are we real?

(38:10):
Who are we gonna go in? And we're gonna wait,
We're gonna miss out on a guy that could be
our bridge quarterback. Daniel Jones will be starting for somebody
in the NFL next year, probably the Jets. I already
I already say he'll probably finish with the Cowboys this year,
probably playing for the Jets next year, starting for us. Hey,
look at Daniel Jones' come full circle. He never moved
out of his apartment in Bayone, whatever you want to say.
But he's gonna start somewhere, probably the Jets, but probably

(38:33):
but somewhere else, definitely, but probably the Jets.

Speaker 3 (38:36):
I did enjoy the number of people that started photoshopping
Aaron Rodgers into a Giants uniform today. That was that
was kind of fun as well. Uh, you got darnold,
you're guy, Zach Wilson, Drey Lance. Then we start. Drew
Lock is gonna be a free agent. I don't I
don't know if you remember him.

Speaker 1 (38:52):
Daniel Jones just get more than any of these guys.

Speaker 3 (38:54):
The other guy that may show up and it's really
just a philosophical thing. Whether they shuffle up depending on
the back half of the year, guys all injured, et cetera.
Is Baker Mayfield because they have an out after this
year if they decided they didn't.

Speaker 1 (39:09):
Want to pay him.

Speaker 3 (39:09):
He's played five he's played, he's played well enough to
where all right, what's behind door number two? Right, go
get him another weapon that'll stay on the field. Right,
Godwin and Evans and he were having a hell of
a run with Bucky Irving in the backfield and everything
before everybody got hurt. So Evans will be back this week.
We'll see if they can climb back into that NFC

(39:30):
South race. But to your point, Yeah, there's not a
lot of juice in the free agency market for quarterbacks.
So if I'm one of these teams where I'm looking
at quite obviously I'm heading towards that path. No, I'm
not going in the waivers process, but as soon as
it clears, I'll haveve already had my feelers with his
agent to try to bring him in and get a

(39:53):
jump on it. Right, So he's in the building, particularly
if I know I'm not firing everybody, get ready.

Speaker 1 (39:58):
Daniel Jones The Comeback Daniel Jones Comeback.

Speaker 3 (40:02):
Begins in earnest Saquon Barkley. Hey I got out of there.
Look at me. I'm okay.

Speaker 1 (40:07):
Hey that was a double bird. Coming up next, Mike
and I preview for the biggest games of this weekend
in the NFL Fox. Everyone wants to come backstory Jane
