Speaker 2 (00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
Hey, Hammer to fall, First one goes first Domino in
the Major League Baseball off season, We've been breaking it down.
Find the podcast wherever you get your audio. We'll love
you forever and ever. Welcome in final Hour the program
for us Tonight Jason Smith Show with Me Mike Carman.
No Jason Smith tonight and instead our guy Chris Plak.

(00:48):
He'll be back with you tomorrow night alongside Arnie Spanier.
Spaniard already writing out his copious yellow legal pad notes
no question about it at playing show, where you find
him covering college football for the Oklahoma Sooners, all sorts
of championships in the softball world, and all of that

(01:10):
that Chris covers. You find that in his Twitter account,
all the exploits of all the family playing yeah, a
lot of stuff going on there, and obviously here Arnie
and Chris every Sunday night here at Fox Sports Radio
as they break down the good, the bad, the ugly
of the sporting universe right now, concentrated on the National

(01:31):
Football League and whatever bets Arnie didn't place but still lost.
So all of that to say, it's good to have you, buddy.
It's been very fast. Three hours.

Speaker 4 (01:40):
Yeah, yeah, about to be here ready for the fourth hour.
So you said you're catching a red eye.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
I'm out of here after the show, Gonna go out
and see my folks. They're outside near Tampa. So what's
that flight?

Speaker 5 (01:53):
Five?

Speaker 3 (01:54):
Yeah, so I've got to layover in Dallas. So the
first half's like three. I think the total flight time
if you combond them, is about five, right, So the
first one's a little over three, So that'll be a
good three and a half hour. Mike will pass out
because I don't sleep any better anywhere in this world
than on a plane.

Speaker 4 (02:13):
Really, what's the tech I need to learn? What's the technique?
Is it you can't buy it? And is it neck pillow?

Speaker 5 (02:20):
What do you go?

Speaker 3 (02:20):
I just pass out because really, well, I'm not in control,
like I abdicate. I was just telling the guys, like
what used to happen once upon a time working you know,
kind of startup kind of hours back in my Yahoo
days when we were building the Perfect Beast that became
fantasy sports and sports at Yahoo. Like, you're working crazy
ass hours, so by the end of the week when

(02:41):
you actually had a day off, you were ready to
pass out. Well to make sure that I didn't try
to keep grinding right, well, my then wife like would
be like, all right, we're going in the car. Okay, cool,
Like we'll go out to this restaurant and you're thinking,
all right, that's twenty minutes cool. Three hours later we're
in wine country or two and a half hours l
like whatever it was. It was like, all right, I

(03:03):
got you to sleep, so you're not gonna die this.
So yeah, So since I don't have control, the garments
system was at the time was getting us where we
were going. I was good to go and on airplanes,
that's always been the key to it. It's like I'm
not in control. Like one of my kids were younger, obviously,
I pair it up with the one that wanted to
sleep and the other one drew and colored and red

(03:24):
and whatever with her, and as they got older, they
both realized this is good for dad to be around
a while, so they would let me fall asleep.

Speaker 6 (03:33):
Mike Hilo, I am so jealous of you, because Mike
and Chris you will both closely identify with this. I
used to be able to sleep on planes, but I
swear to God this is true. I can't and have
never been able to sleep on planes since I took
a Red Eye with our colleague Steve Hartman. Oh no,

(03:55):
I swear this is true. Isaac, Isaac care, let me
tell you Red Eye of the National Championship game in
Miami back in the day, five hour flight. He literally
talked the whole time. Haven't been able to sleep on
a plane since.

Speaker 5 (04:08):
That was it? Seriously true story. Look, man, I'll go out.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
I'll five the nearest billboard on the LA streets or highway,
and you will have a case by Monday morning.

Speaker 6 (04:23):
Unless the statute of limitations expired.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
Ah.

Speaker 6 (04:26):
You know, he's slowly killing you. Matt Leer was playing
in that game. That's how long ago it was.

Speaker 5 (04:31):
That's a little bit.

Speaker 4 (04:34):
See, I can't get the like the body situated right either.
It's like elbow on the on the arm rests and
head on the elbow. I've never tried the next, so
you just like your head's back and you cank out.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
Yeah, Like, the ultimate goal is to figure out a
way to get yourself a window seat. Quite obviously, I
am a short, stocky little man with very wide shoulders,
so the aisle seat for me is death. Okay, the
middle seat is not.

Speaker 5 (05:02):
Gonna work very well.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
I either need a smaller framed person on either side
or children.

Speaker 5 (05:09):
So it's one of those kind of things.

Speaker 3 (05:11):
But if you get me on the window, yeah, Look,
I'm also I don't fly a ton, right, the schedule
and the girls' schedule, running around soccer and and everything
we got going. You know, it's only a couple times
a year that we actually get to go and gotch
and get out and about, and usually by then I've
run myself ragged.

Speaker 5 (05:29):
Right, it's football season.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
You know this, Chris Isaac, you know this as well, Right,
you got the kids, plus you're adding games. Last night
Ilo working laid into the night Chargers post game and
talking folks off ledges off. After that lost to the
Ravens and the Battle for the Brothers, Harbaugh still want
to know which Harbab brother got the call from the

(05:51):
parents first. Did they divide and conquer or did they
both console gym before calling John? I mean, I don't know,
Ilow do you have any info on that?

Speaker 6 (06:00):
I have no info, But our sideline reporter Shannon Fahrenan
told us a great story about what happened after the
Super Bowl and Jack Harbaugh, Jim and John's father told Jim,
you know, they're having a victory far and I'm not
gonna go. I'm just gonna go to the hotel and
turn it late. So Jim goes back to the hotel
after the forty nine Ers lose. He goes to bed,

(06:21):
he can't really sleep. He turns on the TV and
there's a live shot of the Ravens victory party and
in the background is Jack Harbaugh cutting a rug dancing
in the background.

Speaker 5 (06:31):
Nice busted.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
Well, you know, makes for some awkward conversations at the holidays,
Like many of you will have, keep it locked onto
Fox Sports Radio live programming, live breakdowns of the games,
analysis in love and in living color, all the college buckets,
everything going on, with all the usual levity that you've
come to expect from us. We got you covered to

(06:55):
help you in the holiday holiday holiday. Maybe it's just
some discussion points. Maybe you need some jumping off points.
Take the iHeartRadio app with you wherever you go. All
our affiliates nationwide four hundred plus, we're honored that we
get to come into your homes, hang out a little bit,
and rage and gage and furiate all those kind of things,
in form and entertained. It's not lost on us, with

(07:16):
all the choices that you have, that you found your
way to us. So we thank you truly. While I
eat another piece of pumpkin pie, I will be thinking
of all of you, and while I watch eber Flus
and the Bears do whatever that becomes eleven point dogs
on the road at Detroit on Thursday.

Speaker 5 (07:33):
Not that I'm counting or anything.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
But yeah, the holiday travel thing is always interesting. We
get the gridlock here in Los Angeles that started about
ten or eleven o'clock this morning. Add a little bit
of rain and it really you might as well just
stir that up and cause some chaos.

Speaker 4 (07:50):
Make make it, make it make it fun, make it fun.
So just one more question, Yeah, hit me, go ahead.
You're going to see the family.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
Yeah, little others gonna come out, so it'll be me
and my mom and pop.

Speaker 4 (08:03):
This is this is maybe a little intrusive, but when
I go see my parents, I still stay in my
old room with my wife and the kids. Can She
didn't have big housing and stay you know wherever? Do
you get a hotel or do you still stay with
your family? Well, in this case, it's just me.

Speaker 3 (08:18):
The girl, like the younger ones off with her mom,
checking out a couple of colleges before visiting her folks.
The older one had We had a I'm not gonna
bore you with a bunch of the details. We had
some things that were originally planned that had to get
kicked for the month of December. So she had made
the decision with So she's in college but also working

(08:38):
as a caretaker at a facility, so she took on
some extra hours, make a little extra scratch and get
some extra experience during the holiday. So they're gonna stay behind,
which means it's me and I could just crash on
a floor in a chair because I'm tired enough at
this point, Chris, like I was saying, you get to
this point in the football season. I was here at
like one point thirty do an extra podcast, the Eye

(09:00):
Watcher Flex podcast by the way, wherever you get your
audio byer and I did our our recap of week
twelve with Ian Roddy, our executive producer of the podcast.
And then we already we already have in the can
the preview of week thirteen. So we were here pretty
late and I get up real early. Well, the girls,
the dog, all that stuff. So right now I'm running

(09:20):
on fumes and whatever's left of the caffeine I ingested about.

Speaker 5 (09:23):
Two hours ago.

Speaker 3 (09:24):
So by time I hit the plane, you'll be ready
to gam right, I'll be ready to fall asleep.

Speaker 5 (09:28):
All right, I get.

Speaker 4 (09:29):
Spoiled still, I'm in my forties, and my mom will
still spoiled and my wife doesn't like it. My mom
will spoil me when again, Yeah, yeah, there's still that battle.
But I'm envious, enjoy It's always fun to get back
around your family.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
Man.

Speaker 3 (09:41):
So is there a dessert or something that you, you know, mom,
Mom's got to have at the ready, because I know
my mom already baked cookie.

Speaker 4 (09:47):
Oh really no, no really, no, you know it's kind
of weird when I say this, and listen, we're the safe.

Speaker 5 (09:55):
It's probably more alcohol. For me.

Speaker 4 (09:56):
Okay, it's like, yeah, hey, do we got cold whatever.
It's like yeah, like let's go. So that's kind of weird. Yeah, world,
I'm gonna come back.

Speaker 3 (10:03):
I have a delivery pending for something that is been discontinued,
but I found a place that still stocks it. So
I have a couple of bottles coming for our So no, no, well,
I mean, look, they're not a not a spot. James
Patron had a coffee tequila Oh okay, Cafex discontinued, but

(10:26):
when I can find it, I stockpile. It also makes
for a great gift because look, we all have a
nice cup of coffee. Maybe you want a little loaded coffee.
Not that I'm encouraging to do anything crazy, all disclaimers,
you know, be safe out there, no drinking, driving, all
of those things. We're responsible. But when you're sitting around

(10:47):
and ending the night, especially as the weather turns, it's
it's it's a nice warm Okay.

Speaker 5 (10:53):
This is not cheap, Mike, this is not a cheap
purchase that you've made.

Speaker 3 (10:56):
Well, I'll tell you this, Chris Will, We'll redirect I'm
of it your way and you can become a part
of it. I also make something the traditional holiday drink
from again my ex and her Swedish heritage. I have
her mom's recipe for glug and spices. Yeah, yeah, he'll

(11:17):
mess you up too well again well no, and I
just got an alternate recipe from another family member. We're
talking some next alevel stuff. Before all it's all said
and done, I might be running around the sideline of
a game like I'm Danny Hurley.

Speaker 4 (11:29):
Yea, he cuts it and yelling at people and is
the worst call you've ever seen. You brought it back
to sports.

Speaker 5 (11:34):
I like what you say.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
Circle it back broadcast professional. Not my first rodeo at
Swollen Dome at Plain Show, but back to back nights.
And look, he's now become like the Dodgers are. It's
the depth star, right, It's the evil empire and what
he's assembled there at Yukon used to be about Gino
Oriema and fighting Pat Summit and Muffett McGraw and everything

(11:58):
on the women's side of things, But right now you've
got what is a dynasty.

Speaker 5 (12:04):
Right.

Speaker 3 (12:04):
For the last twenty five years, there's no team on
the men's side as successful as Yukon, but his act
and histrionics on the sideline back to back nights. The
I'm surprist, Well, I guess I'm not surprised, But when
you go out officials as hard as he did yesterday
that you were still allowed to be on the sidelines today,

(12:26):
it shows me what a weak leadership or lack there like.
And it's just reflective of so much other I was like, Ah,
you know, they'll be a fine or he'll get a
tersely worded letter or whatever else. But you know, you're
running around, You're literally dropping to your knees over a call,
You're cursing guys out, you're screaming invectives at them, and

(12:46):
then complaining in your postgame ad nauseum about calls that
didn't go your way. Like, I get it, you're lobbying
for the next one, et cetera, and we all love
a good villain, but you also look like a child.

Speaker 4 (12:59):
I don't know stand you know, aggressive coaches, Fine, I
get it, I understand it. I think whenever it's continued
and constant in the way that it is from Danny Hurley,
they won back to back titles, so you don't want
to go in and try to change who he is.
But there's got to be a point where you know, Mike,
he's getting on those guys to be more disciplined and

(13:22):
be better in their approaches and be more fine tuned
attention to detail. Yet here he is when one thing
doesn't go their way at any point of the game.
It could be two minutes into the game and he's
losing his mind, yelling at a referee, wanting to fight
other coaches at times. I know we're going back aways
with him and the bad blood he had with Frank Haith,
but I'm telling you right now, man, it just doesn't

(13:43):
end well. And I hate saying that, but every single
volatile coach it never seems end well. And he is
volatile to the extreme and in today, and his brother's
just as bad. Right, he just doesn't have the success.
So you haven't seen Bobby Hurley as much. But I mean, Mike,
this is great, but they're doing. It's cool to see

(14:05):
you KHN winning, But a coach acting like that, isn't
there a point where someone in an administration says, dude, you
got to calm down, or even I mean, his dad's
a legendary coach. Is I mentioned his brother's family, Someone's
got to say, Bro you got to chill out a
little bit, right, well.

Speaker 3 (14:19):
But you're also getting called for technical follows and critical
moments against.

Speaker 5 (14:22):
Cost your team.

Speaker 3 (14:23):
Again, you're costing your Now it look it's November, so
you say, ah, what the hell's the difference, right, But
it's it's the principle of the matter, right when the
whole thing is being preached as you laid out about
discipline in whatever, the integrity of what you're doing to
the sport, et cetera. And yes, you can be mad
about officials. We've all done it right. You get salty

(14:44):
during the game. Sure, during your kid's athletic careers. I'm
certainly animated on occasion with my daughters, usually when something
looks like it's potentially a very difficult safety thing that
is being ignored based on our vantage point and maybe
you know they see it differently, but it's that kind
of thing. This is back to back nights and they

(15:06):
take back to back losses.

Speaker 5 (15:08):
Whatever.

Speaker 3 (15:08):
Again, it won't matter when we get to win in time,
but it's just a terrible look for a coach. That
is right now the standard in your profession.

Speaker 4 (15:21):
I get it, I understand it. You want everyone to
be passionate you're passionate. There is a point where it's
it's gonna cost you a game that's important. I bet
it has. I bet if you go back. There's been
some blow ups, but it's just officials. They're not gonna
mess with you. You know, they're just gonna start teeing

(15:42):
up if you keep it up. So at some point
it's gonna cost him a big game. It did two
nights ago, like we said, but again February. Sorry, I'm sorry,
it's November, so got a long way to go in
the season. Nobody cares till February March. But I love
you Combasketway. Aaron Torres, who we hear have you on
Fox Sports Radio every Saturday night, covers him. I'd be

(16:02):
curious to see what those fans of yukon, what the
people who cover it think about it, because he seems
like a great dude right when you see him on interview,
when we talked to him, seems awesome.

Speaker 5 (16:12):
The passion, the love of his kids and of.

Speaker 3 (16:15):
The stress, like all of that costs through And it's
funny because those running.

Speaker 4 (16:18):
Parallel, Yeah, that just flips and he's out of control.
I said, a lot of coaches are like that, but
they are able to control it to the point where
it's a little fit and they move on and they're good.
It's almost as if he's not gonna let it go
until it's a fight, Like I'm afraid they're gonna throw
hands like Bobby Knight type stuff. But like you said,
two straight championships hard to argue with the formula.

Speaker 3 (16:41):
Right now, craziness. I tell you he's Chris blank in
for Jason Smith. I'm Mike Carmon here Fox Sports A Radio.
As we roll on here in the final hour of
the program tonight. We appreciate you being part of the
extended family. Thanks to our crew making us sound so
pretty Thanks to Bo Benson for coming in talking a
little bit about the Dodgers. We had Jays to Cole
Pete Futech with us. We broke down some of that

(17:03):
college football playoff fun and excitement that we're so invested
in all of that. The podcast, wherever you get to
your audio, we downloaded, downloaded, give it five stars, rate
it and share it.

Speaker 5 (17:14):
Right.

Speaker 3 (17:14):
That's the thing, the gift that keeps on giving free
just a little bit of your time to send it
to your friends and family. We would greatly appreciate it
and always take us with you on the iHeartRadio app.
Coming out next, a couple of teases of possible announcements,
one that really suckered some folks, but maybe foreshadowing off

(17:34):
of something that happened tonight. And then there's a chase
for a big time baseball card that's going on here, Chris,
I have no update on that, but another rookie's jumped
up with a pretty cool offer. Should you find his
We'll talk about that next year on Fox.

Speaker 2 (17:51):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio. The iHeartRadio App Update
here from.

Speaker 3 (18:03):
The Fox Sports Radio Studios, presented by ty Rack Mike
Harmon alongside Chris blank In for Jason Smith. Patrick has
been evicted from the business. Uh oh why basically just
told me I was really old. He dropped up my
generation on me, Chris, how uh? In what context? We're

(18:27):
talking about music and musical choices? Alex Tichher bringing me
back with a little bit of love with the the
Afghan Whigs, uh, which you know would be another generation
for young Patrick over there even though they're still producing
music blank.

Speaker 7 (18:42):
If you want to know the context, I was, we're
talking about music, and then I said, like, you know,
like people are gonna get mad at me for seeing
that Blank one two is a little overrated people. And
then Mike was saying like, I'm don't really I don't
rate them, and I'm like, oh, like a lot of
people in my generation like because they grew up listening
to it. So I was like, they're gonna get mad
at me for saying it's they're good. I just find

(19:03):
it a little overrated. And then that's how to drop
your generation.

Speaker 2 (19:07):
But I didn't mean it. I didn't mean in that way.

Speaker 5 (19:10):
So yeah, that's where we are, unless you did so.

Speaker 3 (19:13):
Uh No, you'll get a swinging neck breaker before the
night's over.

Speaker 5 (19:17):
I've been watching a lot of w W.

Speaker 4 (19:18):
I'm ready, Who's who's finishing with the swinging neck breaker?

Speaker 5 (19:22):
Now that's a good move. That's old well, I'm bringing
back old school stuff. Yeah, that's it, very good, very good.
Everything could be a stomp. As much as I love
by Seth Rollins.

Speaker 2 (19:30):
We're of the Walls of Jericho type of gay.

Speaker 3 (19:32):
There you go, j body has betrayed him at this
point there, but he's still out there belting out songs terribly.

Speaker 5 (19:43):
Well, Mike Harmon, you just made the list. Hey, let's go.

Speaker 3 (19:47):
Let's good, let's get it done, all right, as we continue,
So he's fired.

Speaker 5 (19:52):
He's really proud of himself nowt here, Chris, he's got
the r.

Speaker 7 (19:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (19:57):
No, it's good. We've had a very fun run that.
We got a lot of stuff going swirling about. We
got the Blake Snell signing, a lot of great college buckets.
We got into our curiosity and concern for Danny Hurley,
maybe a little intervention here at Fox Sports Radio. All
of that to say, there were also teases of perhaps
a couple of announcements here in the next twenty four.

Speaker 5 (20:20):
To forty eight hours.

Speaker 3 (20:21):
Okay one, yeah, the first one is the old This
guy may sign with a team within the next twenty
four hours, Justina Anderson, And there's a picture of Daniel Jones.
He is quote zeroed in on a team. We did
find out yesterday that one of the team he's zeroing

(20:44):
in on is not the Raiders.

Speaker 5 (20:45):
So you're safe.

Speaker 4 (20:47):
Oh, I don't know about being safe. He's probably the
best option we have.

Speaker 3 (20:51):
No, that's well, I mean, look, hate O'Connell was back
at practice.

Speaker 5 (20:55):
Otherwise it's Desmond Ritter.

Speaker 4 (20:57):
Ain't O'Connell said he's at eighty percent right now? Well,
so eight of eight O'Connell's the best we've got. I'm
also I'm not against Daniel Jones. Shows you how down
bad I am right now.

Speaker 3 (21:13):
I kind of want to see him in a in
another spot where there's some stability, some semblance of consistency.

Speaker 5 (21:19):
Oh yeah, because he came from that.

Speaker 4 (21:20):
Yeah, let's just make sure he gets in a spot
because the giants are the picture of consistency.

Speaker 5 (21:27):
He understands chaos. Get him in another.

Speaker 3 (21:29):
Chaos like it's it's all about circumstance, and maybe it
takes him four spots like Sam Darnold before he finds
that that piece that he's been seeking and the ghost dissappear.
Or Baker, you want to keep going.

Speaker 4 (21:42):
I mean, there's money, let's say forte rich Gannon, we
can go old school all the way back to rich
Maybe well I run out of guys, g Baker, but
at least short term, like those are three guys where
it's clear, hey, just go someplace functional.

Speaker 5 (21:58):
Is there somewhere someone else we're leaving out. I'm sure
we're missing one. It's gonna kill me. I'm la what's
he zeroing in on? Do they say they do not
give you a team? But what the hell? Kind of report?
But look, that's the beauty of it.

Speaker 3 (22:14):
And well, I mean it's always my favorite phraseology may
sign as soon as tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (22:20):
Huh.

Speaker 5 (22:21):
Well, that's not reporting.

Speaker 4 (22:23):
Reporting is when you say, here are the teams that
are interested, Well, you only had a bunch of reports
of you know, the would be I'm reading the Josina
Anderson report right now that you're talking about. Yeah, the
only team she mentions is the Raiders. No, that's just
the right. So there you have it.

Speaker 3 (22:39):
But there's been, you know, a little bit of discussion,
maybe the the Lions would rather have. Would you came
in over Hendon Hooker, You're.

Speaker 4 (22:46):
You're Mike Harmon, You're a frustrated former first round pick.
You've you've made a lot of money. Is your resurrection
tour starting going to a team that's just good in
his going to win and you might not play? Or
is your resurrection tour starting by going to a place
where you can play right away?

Speaker 5 (23:05):
I think it's the former I think it's I think
it's absolutely the former.

Speaker 3 (23:08):
And that's why, you know, when there was some whispers
of Detroit and the hen Hooker side of things is
the the well. But whether they're happy enough if something
happens to golf, right, that's what I'm saying. A Wou'd
be brilliant for him to go, but might be a
good move short term for him. Also the like because
you're only going through the end of the year, right,

(23:29):
and then it's hey, let's all revisit what we're doing here,
uh kind of situation because they may lose their coordinator. Right,
we would assume they're going to lose their coordinator. Maybe
you don't. Maybe you lose both coordinators before it's all
said and done. But that's but that's a discussion for
another time. But you know, you go on down the
line and you start looking at backup quarterbacks across the league.

(23:50):
You know, Buffalo, I I stumped for Trubisky to a point,
but uh, you know, you can only run that up
the flagpole. So many times with Bills Philadelphia, did they
have the guy on the roster if something happens to
Hurtz to keep them. And I'm not saying Daniel Jones
steps in and he's a world beater, but we're also
looking at backup quarterback play, and if you're not going

(24:12):
to be on the hook for a large amount of
money for him, you want to go somewhere where there's,
you know, the potential to beat a backup for the Rams,
backup for the forty nine ers, right right as they
go through their processes. So we got that. The other
was a fun one that that propped up. And we've
been talking about the the Blake Snell signing five years,

(24:33):
one eight two Dodgers announcing it itself. There was an
ad campaign that got a little run earlier. Quote the
announcement you've been waiting for, and that was from jun Soto,
but it ended up being a commercial of course, so it's.

Speaker 5 (24:51):
For an Edward Dodger.

Speaker 3 (24:52):
Like I said, yeah, he taunted people, gosh, man, just
tell them.

Speaker 4 (24:57):
Josina Anderson say, you're gonna make a decision, I canna
tell you.

Speaker 5 (25:00):
Okay, great, and now on. So it's like a decision
is coming.

Speaker 4 (25:03):
I'm choosing whatever, energy drink, Monster Prime, bread Bull, whatever.

Speaker 5 (25:08):
Come on. They play with your hearts and soul.

Speaker 4 (25:12):
Was it was the was the color of the energy
drank like a thing nicely done.

Speaker 5 (25:19):
I don't know, I'm bad. I don't know. I'm looking
at because I'm looking at the the ad.

Speaker 2 (25:24):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (25:24):
And they certainly add mic covers right that that are
the color of the rainbow. So I mean, no, give
there there's a yellow, there's a there's a blue. There,
there's a red inframe. More skin colors. Skin tone right, pale,
a little bit pale, you know, white guy skin tone there.

(25:44):
I mean, I don't know, I'll still describe it beige.

Speaker 5 (25:48):
Beige. Yeah, there you go. That's the word I'm looking for.

Speaker 3 (25:51):
It's you know, words ways with ways with words here
on Fox Sports Radio as we go.

Speaker 4 (25:57):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (25:57):
And the other story that I that I he's the
head and this one's fun. May you know have a
collect baseball cards at all football card?

Speaker 5 (26:04):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (26:05):
Absolutely, yeah, So I still dabble in that, and you know,
keep aprize of what's going on that Paul Skins monster
season this year awards, hanging out with Livvy Dunn, all
that stuff. He there's a thing Tops does now where
they put a patch on your major league debut jersey.
So you go out, you play your first game, they
get the patch back okay, And so it goes into

(26:27):
cards and they get inserted randomly into this update series
of tops cards.

Speaker 5 (26:32):
Then are they in their cut up right little pieces.

Speaker 3 (26:34):
Of Yeah, so it's just the MLBB debut patch, like
it's the whole patch, and underneath is an autograph. Now
some of them they didn't get back in time for print,
so you're getting a redemption card whatever. But the pirates
offered a huge bounty for the skiings, which was thirty
years of tickets behind home plate all of this. Livy
Dunn came over the top going, yeah, you can come

(26:55):
and hang out in the suite with me and my
friends a couple of times, like all of this stuff,
and you look at the you know, actual cash value
of it at that point, and several hundred thousand dollars,
like we're talking big time money. Blue Jay's rookie Joey
low Perffido came over the top because he wants it,
and a bunch of these guys collect or their families
do right. Jackson Holiday Matt Holliday went out and said, yeah,

(27:17):
we need this card for our collection, so if you
pull it, let us know. So if it's Matt Holiday,
guess what I'm I'm. You know, he's gonna get taken
to the cleaners because folks know he may have made
a dollar or two along the way. But low perffdo
you know, put up hey, DM me and all this stuff,
and then he put up, hey, you can come to
Thanksgiving too, So you got twenty four hours to find

(27:40):
that car to him and you can go crash his
family's Thanksgiving dinner.

Speaker 4 (27:45):
I think it'd be all about it. Let's go, what
do I have to go to find these cards?

Speaker 3 (27:49):
Well, it's tops and it's the debut and actually the
the report. Yeah, so they were he was traded to
the Blue Jays in July, so you know it's got
them in the astros Uni and everything else. But it
just the idea of, hey, you can get them to Thanksgivving,
so you know they've got them at you know, your
retail establishments and the different hobby skews.

Speaker 5 (28:11):
The you know, it's the needle.

Speaker 3 (28:13):
In a haystack kind of thing, I mean, because that's
however many rookies are in the subset and it's only
you know, one of one. But it's just the idea
that all these guys are trying to collect. Is like yeah,
I've got bounties out there, and since we grab all
things sports and the marketing and sales of it all,
this also gets some of these rookies that may have
been overshadowed by their classmates in this debut class. Hey,

(28:37):
I got a little bit of run as well, and
people looking at my stats, looking at my draft status,
maybe I get to go on a few radio shows,
TV shows whatever to hype this here. You just got
a very short window because Thanksgiving, you know, obviously being Thursday.

Speaker 4 (28:54):
Now if you pulled this, would you cancel your plans
and go to Thanksgiving at his house?

Speaker 3 (29:02):
No, I think we'd have to re up and come
up with another holiday or gathering.

Speaker 5 (29:06):
I mean for Christmas. I see the way.

Speaker 3 (29:09):
Well that because there's probably gonna be more presence under
the tree for me, all negotiated of course. Now what's
curious is like all these bounties have been out there
and people offering crazy money for the schemes which has
yet to appear. And this is the second time this
year where there's been a very publicized release from from

(29:30):
the Tops company where we haven't seen the big prize
show up out of a pack or out of the mailings.
Yet in for the Olympics they do a program called
tops now that they do for all their properties, but
commemorating big events. Right, So for the NFL, here's you know,
the big first game from Jayden Daniels whatever else. Uh,

(29:51):
And for the NBA, here's they don't have the license.
Benini still has that. But for the Olympic squad they
had a deal which meant they created cards to commemorate
the wins and big performances there. But they did a
big thing with the triple card of Durant, Curry and
James which had never been done. But they also had

(30:11):
the bonus of randomly inserted we're going to be autographed versions,
including a one of one. Five hundred and eighty eight
thousand of the base card were sold with people trying
for the one of one autograph. Now there's parallels right
number to ninety nine. There's a green one, here's a
purple one, blue whatever, down to red, and then the
one of one black. But the autograph hasn't surface yet,

(30:34):
And I think it's the greatest thing that somewhere someone
got it said well that's pretty damn cool, and they
never publicized it. They've got it they're holding on and
half of me is open that that happens with the
Skeins as well. Someone goes, oh, that's awesome, good for me,
and that we just keep wondering if it's actually been pulled,
and it leads to a lot of speculation on the

(30:56):
product or whatever else. But it's the foot of the chase.
And with what we do here, you know, you're looking
at players and trying to figure out their futures the
trading card world the same way. A lot of players
have gotten involved as well on the business side of it.
Kevin Durant and others have business interests in some of
the trading platforms. So all of that to say, that's

(31:17):
one to grow on, one to grow on, baby. So
there you go, buddy, you got twenty four hours to
figure out how to go hang out at loper Fino's house.
Perhaps he would have the beverage you were looking for.
He's Chris plank in for Jason Smith. I'm Mike Carmen.
As we continue, we'll take a look ahead to the
Thanksgiving Day games and what we saw over the course

(31:39):
of this evening. But first, for the final time at
the news desk, tonight of the legend the myth. It's
Isaac Lohan, Krohn at Isaac low and kron in the twitterverse.

Speaker 6 (31:50):
So kind and not so kind were the Los Angeles
Dodgers and the eyes of their competitors on Tuesday Night Fellas,
because the defending world champions have landed two times cy
Young Award winner Blake Snell, Snell confirming the news by
instagramming a photoshopped picture of himself in a Dodger's uniform.

(32:14):
Multiple outlets support against a five year, one hundred and
eighty two million dollar deal, and once again Mike and
Chris to add reasonable perspective, what is massive news? Let's
check out the comments section underneath. I was just like
the handles. I lo this process. Well, you'll love this

(32:36):
because you know he previously played for the San Diego
Padres at Tatis Junior World commented simply, you're better than this.
Blake the the Vinyl archaeologist, who I assume is from
a different generation, commented, what's the Dodgers payroll?

Speaker 5 (32:58):
Like a trillion?

Speaker 6 (33:01):
And finally, at Jay Fudgie underscore nice, which implies that
there is an at Jay Fudgie already out there. Comment
and quote It's nice to see the Dodgers at an
arm like this. They've really been lacking star power in
recent years. Should be a solid push to help them improve. Unquote,

(33:24):
either that's a sarcastic tweet or that's Magic Johnson's burder.

Speaker 2 (33:30):
The Magic Johnson twitter game.

Speaker 6 (33:32):
Gosh, you know what, I'm just gonna check Magic Johnson's
Twitter count to see if he's tweeted about Blake Snell.

Speaker 5 (33:38):
That's a good question.

Speaker 6 (33:39):
I doubt he's allowed to because it hasn't officially been
announced yet because it's pending a physical sure and he
has not, But I look forward to a similar tweet
when that news is announced. Fourth set of college football
playoff rankings released on Tuesday night. Top four team stayed
the same, Oregon number one, followed by Ohio State, Texas
and Penn State. Notre Dame moved up to fifth, Indiana

(34:00):
dropped from fifth to tenth. College basketball on Tuesday night
topped rank Kansas over number eleven Dukes seventy five to
seventy two as Duke's con Can Nipple missed the game
tying three pointer in and out at the Buzzer and
the NBA Cup on Tuesday night, the Phoenix Suns broke
a five game losing streak with a one twenty seven
to one hundred win over the Los Angeles Lakers the

(34:23):
Milwaukee Bucks one in Miami one six to one OHO three,
despite being without Gianis Ontetakoompo, he was a late scratch
because of a left knee swelling. Damian Lillard thirty seven
points and twelve assists, which rhymes with Mike and Chris.

Speaker 3 (34:36):
Thank you, don Thanks, appreciate you having good holiday, buddy.
I'll see you on the other side. You guys too.
Thank you so much goodness tonight so much in the
sporting world. We appreciate Ilo for all the updates for
Patrick and Alex making a sound so pretty bow in
the back grabbing sound and pulling it all together, including
bleeping out the Thanksgiving experimentation clip, which if you didn't

(34:59):
hear it, we'll do that again as we continue, as
well as an Awards snub that has a Hall of
Famer Salty and a couple of guys that evidently are
going to play in a Bowl game and it's got
people ringing their hands.

Speaker 5 (35:11):
What's it all about? We'll take you next on Fox.

Speaker 3 (35:26):
Hey, welcome back in Fox Sports Radio. Jason Smith Show
with Me by carbon No Jason Smith. Tonight closing it
out our guy Chris Blank at Plank Show where you
find him tomorrow. He's in alongside the Stinking Genius is
normal partner Sunday nights here Fox Sports or Radio and
Chris we go to the world of college football now

(35:47):
for our big story here to close things out, Dion
Sanders in sense that Travis Hunter is not a finalist
for the Jim Thorpe Award for the best defensive back.
Now he is for Player of the Year obviously, the
Heisman Trophy and all that stuff. We'll be talking about
multiple awards on the board. But Dion saying, look, man,
I don't even want my award and he's not, you know,

(36:09):
considered one of the best.

Speaker 4 (36:12):
So if I understand this story correctly, Dion is even
saying that he would give up right the award that
when he won it, and he won.

Speaker 5 (36:22):
It, that it has no meaning if if his guy is.

Speaker 4 (36:27):
Travis Hunter is not worthy of being a finalist for
the award as a corner. It's just it's the reality.

Speaker 3 (36:33):
I was thinking of that myself, Like, there's a few
spectacular plays, there's some not so.

Speaker 4 (36:37):
Much well and and here's the thing, Dion has every
right to stand up for his guy, and there's gonna
be people out there.

Speaker 5 (36:45):
I saw Joel Klatt tweeted earlier, it's crazy.

Speaker 4 (36:48):
He's the best college football guy in his numbers reflect that.

Speaker 5 (36:52):
The opponents know it, and he's right.

Speaker 4 (36:53):
But again, this is one of those awards that and
just I think voters don't really necessarily care about anything
but numbers, and the interception numbers aren't necessarily there. I'm listen.
I don't vote for the award. I have friends that do,
and all of them mentioned how they were going to

(37:15):
vote for Travis Hunter. But I don't necessarily like who
you taking off that list. Caleb Downs has been incredible,
Jihad Barron has been incredible for Texas this year. Like,
I don't know who you take off that list. Travis
Hunter is awesome and he's probably gonna be, if not
the top pick in the draft, a top five guy.

(37:35):
He might be a finalist for the Heisman Trophy. When
all is said and done. But I mean, I would
have a really hard time taking any of the guys.
I mean, Malachi Starts from Georgia has been un believable.
So I don't really know how you would boot any
of those guys out because Downs has been a real uh.

(38:02):
Baron Baron has been an incredible piece for the Texas defense,
and Malachi Starks and one of the best defenses in
college football in Georgia has just been a baller. So again,
I feel like whenever someone has left out, hey, guess what,
he's not considered one of the three best defensive backs
in college football. It's okay if you're fourth, it doesn't

(38:24):
mean that you're being disrespected. Does he deserve to be
in that final three? Maybe, but Mike.

Speaker 5 (38:30):
He hasn't.

Speaker 4 (38:30):
He hasn't played well enough. We all played his consistently.
He's been he's been dinged up too. But he's also
a finalist for the Big Narik Award. Sure right, Defensive
Player of the Year war yeah, best overall player.

Speaker 3 (38:43):
Right, him and Genty and Dylan Gabriel. So he got
all of that to say, plenty of accolades there. The
other story that came out also is that Dion saying
that Hunter and his son Shador will be playing wherever
the Buffaloes go bowling. They're at the back end of
the top twenty five in the latest rankings. Still something

(39:03):
to play for. Still enough chaos mixed into the batter here, Chris,
But what do you think of that? I think folks
trying to figure out how much they love or don't
love the idea of stars playing in a bowl game
at this point, which is a very weird departure from
when Christian McCaffrey was absolutely excoriated for opting out.

Speaker 4 (39:26):
I think this is Yeah, I know right now it's common.
I still think that there's no way they're going to
play in a bowl game unless they're in the playoffs.
I just I feel like, and again I'm not saying
Deon Sanders is a liar. I'm saying at this moment,
he probably believes that. But Mike, whenever it comes to it,
they're being projected to play in the Holiday Bowl against
Syracuse Hughes Show. And now, again no offense to Jason

(39:49):
and his beloved Orange, but what are you really gaining
if you go out there and play well in the
Holiday Bowl? The only thing that happens in that for
shardor Sanders and Travis Hunters. That you hurt your stock
pains me. I'm a college football dieheart. I want everyone
to play every game they possibly can. But it would
make zero sense whatsoever for them to play in that
bowl game, no question about it. I still want to

(40:10):
see the playoffs. I want to see it. But if
they're in the playoffs, different story. Colorado's still alive for
a spot in the play so if they won the
Big Twelve championship.

Speaker 5 (40:18):
But yeah, I think that's what he was referring to.

Speaker 4 (40:20):
There's no way that Deon Sanders coach Prime in his
right mind would let them play in the Music City
Bowl or the Capitol One Bowl.

Speaker 5 (40:28):
No way.

Speaker 3 (40:29):
Is there a giant dollar sign attached to it. That's
it marketing saleserps.

Speaker 4 (40:35):
And then that's fair because I don't know in some
of these nil deals, and maybe with some of these,
I'm surprised bowl games haven't put together nil deals. Fifty
grand playing in this game. I'll go play in that game.
Then let's go now.

Speaker 3 (40:47):
Instead, you get an MP three player and a Brandon sweatshirt.

Speaker 5 (40:52):
He's Chris playing.

Speaker 2 (40:53):
Hey, last thing we want to do.

Speaker 3 (40:54):
Ben Maller coming up in five minutes, but we wanted
to bring back our friend from earlier. Don't experiment with
your Thanksgiving treats. Otherwise you're gonna have someone at your
table that gets after you and make.

Speaker 4 (41:04):
Us some damn macaroni and damn tee because you've decided
to do something to save out the damp internet.

Speaker 2 (41:10):
Don't expair mental damn Thanksgiving.

Speaker 5 (41:11):
Don't expemental Thanksgiving damself support.

Speaker 3 (41:17):
Don't travel with us.

Speaker 6 (41:18):
We don't want that.

Speaker 3 (41:20):
That's it, Plank. Make sure that that message is loud
and clear around your dinner table.

Speaker 4 (41:24):
Don't experiment on Thanksgiving, Mike Carmen, save travels on the red.

Speaker 3 (41:27):
Sate your brother Ben Mahler coming up next here on Fox.
