Guy's Sight, Jason Smith and his best friend Mike Harman
Bernie Fraddle gonna join us at about twenty past the hour.
We'll talk to them. By the way. BJ black Friday
officially underway. Are you a shopper? You a buyer? You
getting any of the good deals out there or what?

Speaker 1 (00:47):
No? No, you're not well because I was in commission
sales for so long. It's all. It's all a hustle.
It's all a hustle, man, it's all. Everybody thinks they're
getting these deals. You're not getting it.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
They seem pretty good, honest.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
No, I don't have to be because I was in sales.
I know how this works. I used to run retail stores.
I've been in commission sales like I know how prices
are adjusted and how they add other things and other
taxes and things like that. Companies are not just gonna
give away merchandise. They're still in it's to get. It's
it's all to get you guys all juiced up to
blow your paychecks for Christmas. So it starts the day

(01:20):
after thinking, one of those guys, I'm a buyer. I'm
a buyer. That's fine. People.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
My wife wanted to because she saw this that it
was a Black Friday deal, and she wanted to take
a vacation this summer. Uh, So she booked us a
week vacation in the Dominican Republic for me, her, my son,
and his girlfriend. So we're gonna go down men with
the Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
It's probably put the Conna.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
Probably, it's not even sure. So I'm looking forward to that.
And it was really discounted big time, to be honest,
it really was. Now that's a little bit different. You're
talking about hotel rooms and airfare, so you could see
the difference in prices. But I was good, and then
I was I turned on the Home Shopping Network and
they were doing the NFL edition. Man, that's some really

(02:04):
good stuff. You know what I mean jackets.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
I saw those jackets, but I'm not buying it because
if I order one of them, damn jackets that cheap
and I don't get it or it's a cheap jacket,
I'm gonna be pissed.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
Even if it doesn't get deliveries.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
That where you're saying, yeah, I've been yeah, dude, these places,
I just I don't trust online. I'm an old school shopper.
I gotta see it. No, No, I'm a no, I'm
an old school guy. I gotta see it. I gotta
feel it. I gotta try it on. I do not
like buying clothes or jewelry online. I don't I understand

(02:39):
jewry even electronics. No, I let me go. Let me
make sure there is a TV in this box. I
come from that era, bro, where when you get home
and it's and it's two center blocks. I come from
that era.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
They got some great deals on TVs too, Right now,
TVs are I mean you, for five hundred bucks, you
could probably get a like an eighty and eighty inch.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
TV, or maybe not eighty. For five hundred you could
probably get away with about sixty five.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
Maybe seventies.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
But yeah, but if you go to cost But if
you go to Costco, if you go to Costco a
month from now, it's the end.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
Of the year sale, right right.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
And if you go and if you go six weeks
after that, it's the Valentine's Day sell, And if you
go six weeks after that, it's the Easter. Saying.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
You say, we never get any deals out there, you
guys don't listen.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
I'm only a man that was a commission sales, national
marketing and promotions and stuff for twenty plus years of
my life. I know how this stuff goes.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
Well. Obviously we don't beget today or tomorrow technically, or
Friday is the biggest shop.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
Now, don't forget about cyber Monday.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
Well, right, don't forget about Cyber Monday like Friday. Still,
I believe Dwarf said. I don't know the numbers though,
but it is. I mean, it does help the economy,
there's no doubt.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
And then you see these people, I'm not that guy.
We're not gonna go there. Well you can't, but I'm not.
But and then and then you see these people fighting
and and people getting killed and getting stumped and trampled. No, man,
I'm good, bro. You know if I don't got it now.
That's God's way of telling me that I don't need it. Now.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
I live thirty miles from the Canadian border, and a
lot of the Canadians come down and go to Best
Buy in Walmart and Home Depot and anything they can
buy down here in America, I mean everything and everything,
and then they just take it back home. They love
coming down here.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
Well that's different when you're coming from it. But that's
weird to hear from Canada because I thought it was
cheaper in Canada. It's more expensive up there.

Speaker 2 (04:41):
Yeah, it's more expensive. Wow.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
Well I get that, man. Now, I will do this
when I go on cruises. Yeah, and we stop at
different highlands.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
Guys.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
Oh god, I love cruises. Are you kidding me?

Speaker 2 (04:51):
I'm anti cruis, yeah yeah, yeah, yeah. Well you don't
pop her college, you.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
Know, against it. You've never never been. You don't pop
your collars, so you'll know nothing anyway.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
Don't need the big waves tipping the boat over, and
you know.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
Yeah, stop watching movies. Stop watching movies like The Poseidon Adventure. Yeah, exactly. Stop.
That's why I said stop watching.

Speaker 3 (05:08):
One of my first cruis this year in summer, it was.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
Great, it's beautiful, it's great. You hit. I'm not a
guy either, you hit different islands. If you're on the
strict DIY like me, you're not really too worried about
the food because the food's okay.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
On a cruise, the room's real small, like you're claustrophobic.
And I had a standard one.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
And i've but I've always had like the above, like
I've had suites, like I literally have had full blown
like studio apartment. There's there's full blown studio apartments on
somebod these cruise ships. And when I say that, I
mean that like there's closets and bathrooms and dressing rooms
and you no, there's there's a sitting room. There's two
interests to your balcony. Yeah, there's not one entrance. There's

(05:46):
two interests to your balcony.

Speaker 3 (05:48):
Now, if you get one that's on the bottom, bottom
bottom of the boat and it's not like a window
or a you know, the inside one, then it's a
little kind of close.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
I can never do that. I can never do that
inside room. The rooms on the inside with no windows,
I could never do. No way, I could never that
right there, because I gotta see what's going on exactly.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
I gotta.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
I gotta see the water left guy. Yes, I love
a good cruise, especially down in the Caribbean where it's
gonna go to Cakes and Turcos and it's gonna go
down to Saint Martin. Are gonna go I looked, Yeah,
Dominican Republic or Ucultan, the Yukotan Peninsula and go to
Cozameo and Mexico. Yes, but those cruises the Bahama, those
cruisers are great.

Speaker 2 (06:27):
The summer ones.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
Yeah, oh my god. Well, September is the best time
because it's still hot in the Caribbean, just not as humid,
so you're still gonna sweat, You're still gonna get a
great tan and it's right before hurricane season. It's the
perfect time. I cruised once in April and the weather
wasn't great. There's a lot of great deals on cruises now,
also for Black Friday. Yeah, but if you got Triple
A and you're old, you still get.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
The same deals.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
That's true, right, If you got Triple A, you get
those deals year round. That's what I'm trying to tell you.
Black Friday is a scam.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Guys, enjoy yourself. If you are shopping out there, because
I know there's a lot of pe The days of
getting up at three in the morning and waiting in
line are over. You know those days are gone. We're
just even midnight, not three in the morning.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
People used to be standing outside, sleeping outside, like people
do that sleep outside? Honestly, man, for a damn iPhone?
What is wrong with you? What is wrong with you?
Don't you know that they've made seven million of those?
There's plenty of them.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
Yeah, you're in Vermont. You can just walk in. I
told the guy, I go, do I have to wait
in line early in the morning to get the new
iPhone sixty? And he goes, I don't think so. We
probably won't sell one to some time during the weekend.
You could just walk in. Oh great, that's fine.

Speaker 1 (07:36):
Real quick, Colin, rest the rick. I'm not sure. I'm
sorry Colin if I said that wrong on Twitter, because
I wanted to bring this up, but we moved on. Yeah,
he said, glad you guys forgot about the Vikings cold
Weather van Is playing the University of Minnesota when they
were building a new stadium and lost to the Seahawks
in twenty sixteen. I remember that, what was it a
twenty nine yard field goal, a twenty eight yard field goal.

(07:56):
Oh yeah, blairwah yeah. That was great field advantage that day.
Whole field advantage.

Speaker 3 (08:03):
My dad's still so mad about that.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
By the way, I'll tell you one of the worst
weather games I went to. This is a good one.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
You like this.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
I had just moved to Los Angeles with my parents.
I mean I must have been in like seventh grade,
and I was at the local McDonald's or one of
the McDonald's with my dad and we were eating and
the guy next to me had some kids, two kids,
and he had rams Vikings playoff tickets in his hand,
and me be in a big mouth to go, hey, mister,

(08:32):
which two of the two tickets for me and my dad?
And son of a gun, just hands me two tickets. Wow,
just hands me two tickets. I couldn't believe it. My
dad was like, get on here. So we went to
the game. It was pouring rain. It was a fourteen
seven game, Minnesota one. You couldn't have your brothers up.

(08:52):
My dad tried to put up the bro and the
guy behind and it's like, hey, mister, no unbro je
well that you could have him. I mean, you just
can't put it up, and every just had to sit
there getting soaked wet. I can't remember how. Gosh, it
must have been a long time ago. Looked at patrick
fourteen to seven playoff game, Vikings beat the Rams in

(09:13):
Los Angeles on it. Yeah, it had to have been
a long long time ago, but it was coming down Cata.

Speaker 1 (09:19):
I think I know the game. I want to say,
Jim Everett, Flipper Anderson, Oh.

Speaker 2 (09:24):
No, it's got to be before, is it before that?

Speaker 1 (09:26):
You're talking to Jackie Slatery and the young blood you're
talking about.

Speaker 3 (09:29):
Those it's the Mud Bowl nineteen seventy seven class shout
out to the pops.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
By the way, Oh you you were there.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
I was nineteen seventy seven. Wow, well a long time ago.
It was just a kid fourteen years old.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
Yep, the year I was born. Man.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
Wow, yeah, wow, that's uh see how those those are
good memories. You remember going to games like that and
absolute plast, no doubt about that.

Speaker 1 (09:55):
I've never been to a ill weathered live football event.
I played in a and I've coached in them, but
I've met no, I've never gone to a stadium and
just got poured on or freezing cold or it started snowing.
Redskins Bears ninety ninety one. I want to think it
is my stepdad and I went. Flurry started and then

(10:17):
it was snowing by the time we were already in
the car and driving on I ninety five home, and
the flurries kind of made it kind of cool. But
it wasn't like, oh my god, let's get out of here.
It wasn't anything like that.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
I was on the sideline for the Packers Bears and
I couldn't take it anymore. Yeah, I don't want to
sound like it was. I had a press passed, but
I know it was just all b Yeah, who's killing me?

Speaker 1 (10:37):
Who wants to? Unless I'm playing, I'm not standing outside
when it's like eleven degrees. I'm just not.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
That's why Kidder said, some of these players don't put
on long sleeve shirts and they want to be a
tough guy, and they look at me. I'm you know,
I don't feel the cold. That doesn't bother me. No,
you're just a lunatic.

Speaker 1 (10:54):
Now, I don't think it's that also to you. Gotta
remember when you sweat with sleeves on, right, that gets cold,
and that helps, and that helps actually produce hypothermia. So
I get why guys don't wear sleeves. Gotcha, you can
get hypothermia, Yeah, you can get That's why they say.
Well if you fall in the lake or you get
wet in the cold, so you have to take a
clothes off, be like what, I'll freeze the depth. Yeah,
but you're gonna get hypothermia die if you keep that on, right.

Speaker 2 (11:16):
Yeah, Well that's that's me. I remember that's about the
coldest being at the at the Bears Packers. That got
down big time too. When it gets cold out of
here in Vermont, it's I can I could barely go
to the grocery store.

Speaker 1 (11:30):
Well, yeah, you think it's smart to getting your your
jeep wrangler and flip flops and drive forty five minutes
to the bar to watch the game on the day
you have to do a showing Thanksgiving Day and then
have people come dig you out while you sit in
the car smoking a stogy listening to the game on
the radio.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
There's a game in tomorrow though. Raiders and the Kansas
City Chiefs. Chiefs totally a thirteen point favorite. Is this
is gonna be a blatter. The Raiders is gonna show
up with I don't know what they're gonna do about
quarterback because the Minshew magic isn't there anymore. You know.
I thought that this was gonna be a good landing
point for Deion Sanders and his son should Doure. But
of course we've got to wait to see where the

(12:07):
you know, the the draft order is. That's gonna make
all the difference in the world. Raiders have been awful
this year. This could be a complete blowout.

Speaker 1 (12:14):
Yeah, I man, I think I think this is a blowout.
I want to think the Raiders can show up and
make it a fight because of what head coach Antonio
Pierce said. But coaches can talk all they want, they
don't play no more. The players have to play. And
you know the Chiefs remember last year. Remember the Raiders
beat them on Christmas Day last year? Remember that game.

(12:37):
I believe that was in Kansas City. So they have
gone in there and they have beaten him. I think too.
Out of last three or four, last three Patrick checked
out for me, the last two, I had a three
or two out of four. I believe the Raiders have
gone into Arrowhead and got that dub over them.

Speaker 2 (12:51):
But I think tomorrow Huh. What do you think about
Kansas City? Though they're ten and one, but I still
don't believe them. I think it's it's a you're on
borrowed time when you keep winning games by seven points
in the less, I know what you're you won your
last ten games or something insane like that. You're not
dominating the opponent. You look pretty pedestrian up against Carolina.

(13:16):
What are you thinking about Kansas City right now?

Speaker 1 (13:18):
Before the season started, I made a big proclamation that
I was not gonna fall into going against Kansas City
until somebody can prove to me that they can beat
them consistently. H You know in the postseason, right somebody
did Buffalo? Remember I picked Buffalo to beat him. I
thought Buffalo would be Kansas City, but I said, yeah,
but they can't beat him in the postseason. But this

(13:40):
is a regular season. Again, Josh Allen's beating Pat Mahomes
in the postseason before, think two or three times, but
he just can't do it in January, and that's when
it matters most. So I think Kansas City's fine. Now.
I agree with you flying close to the sun, sooner
or later, you're gonna melt. And I just I feel
like Kelsey. He's still good, but he's not nowhere near

(14:01):
the player he was two three years ago.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
No, not at all, not even close.

Speaker 1 (14:04):
He's not He's not even close to that. And you
know it's they're going for three. It's gonna be tough.
It's always tough to repeat. You get everybody's best game
when you're the big dog. In Casey is the big dog.
Even though if I put together a power five right now,
which I'll do Saturday for Martin and I show do
it tomorrow if you want to do it, I would
have Detroit number one, because I think Detroit showing that.

(14:25):
But you know someone's gonna happen to beat them in January.

Speaker 2 (14:30):
Default theirred number two.

Speaker 1 (14:31):
They are number two just by kind of default. But
I can still see them being the best team in football.
And until someone beats them in January, I just won't
pick against them.

Speaker 2 (14:41):
But it won't It won't surprise you, it won't surprise
me if somebody beats them, if they upset them along
the way.

Speaker 1 (14:47):
There's only two teams in the AFC even right now.
I could think even right now Thanksgiving night, there's only
two teams in the NFC and the AFC that I
think would have a shot in a postseason game against
Kansas City, and that's the Bills in the Ravens. No
one else has a shot, no one else, no one
else will beat them, Patt, you got the stats, so
I do have the stats.

Speaker 3 (15:04):
So the last time, yes, you're right, Raiders in Kansas City,
they did beat them. Uh And then the other time
that they've actually beaten the Chiefs, and this is just
in all was actually also at Kansas City. That was
not in twenty twenty twenty two.

Speaker 1 (15:20):
It was actually uh a WOA twenty one.

Speaker 3 (15:24):
No, it was actually in October, October eleventh of twenty twenty.
They beat Kansas City, Kansas City. So that's two. It
last four two, Yeah, the last I thought. So they
beat him to it the last four in Kansas City.
I just don't think tomorrow. I just don't see them
and this this Raider team, hey, I mean not unless

(15:44):
it's just gonna.

Speaker 1 (15:44):
Be brock Bowers block bats block Bouers, Brockowers. Yeah, they're bad.
The Raiders are in bad shape, man, But they don't
have a quarterback. That's their only saving grace in my
opinion is once again, you can't fire a coach that
doesn't have a quarterback. I just don't think that's fair.
You can do it if you want, it's your team.
I just don't think it's.

Speaker 2 (16:00):
Fair they gotta have a quarterback after the year because
there's so many options. I mean, there's a lot of
options out there for them, from the draft to a
lot of ones that are Do you like.

Speaker 1 (16:09):
This draft classes quarterback?

Speaker 2 (16:11):
I'm trying to like, like three of them, perhaps Ward
Shadeer and who I'm blanking on the third? I like,
uh yeah, I see.

Speaker 1 (16:20):
If you're blanking on it, then that class ain't that good.
It ain't last years quin yours.

Speaker 2 (16:27):
No, I do like nos No, but I don't think
he's gonna be able to start right away.

Speaker 1 (16:31):
No, I think Arch is better than him right now.
I think Arch.

Speaker 2 (16:36):
I think Arch.

Speaker 1 (16:37):
I think Arch is slightly better than that kid right now.
So that's what I'm saying. So the quarterback class, so
look for forty five second, let's go here, real fast.
Quarterback class. Teams that need you're probably gonna have to
look your free agency who may be unhappy where they are.
Where Aaron Rodgers decides what he wants. I don't think
he's retired. Aaron Rodgers is too much of a narcissist
to retire. He's gonna want to go somewhere and prove

(16:57):
that it was New York's fall. I guarantee you he's
not back to the Bamas Jets, but he's gonna want
to go somewhere Arnie and try to prove Nah, hey,
wait me it was them, even though they did everything
I asked him to do and brought all my buddies along,
but it wasn't me. No, no, I'm still no, no no.
We still will have those memories on Aaron Rodgers. He
still can spin it. Oh he still throws a nice ball.

Speaker 2 (17:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (17:18):
To is running around with his shirt off, beating younger guys.
But who's signing them? You're forty some years old. Homeboy
looks good when if shorts and no shirt, it's a
young man's game. When them pads get put on you,
then let's see how you feel.

Speaker 2 (17:30):
Right, So like a quarterback. That's why people like Daniel
Jones are still in the you know, still the Mando man.

Speaker 1 (17:36):
If you're the Raiders, do you take a look at
you would love that? Oh guy, you like Daniel? You
really like that kid? I think he'd be a good backup.
I think he's better than anything the Raiders have right now,
So then you'd get him and starting for the Raiders.

Speaker 2 (17:48):
Would you rather have him or Bryce Young Breshaw?

Speaker 1 (17:51):
Breshaw.

Speaker 2 (17:51):
It's not ready to give him, it's not they're ready
to give up on him.

Speaker 1 (17:54):
It's not close. And I think Bryce needs to get
out of there. I think Bryce needs to be traded
and get him out of there now. Caro has no
idea what they're doing. And oh yeah, remember remember Andy
Dalton was gonna fix everything, right, guys, Remember Andy dalt
was gonna fix everything. They won one game and then
went right back to the bleep. How showed that.

Speaker 2 (18:10):
They are right?

Speaker 1 (18:12):
Right?

Speaker 2 (18:12):
Yeah, it's nobody's fun.

Speaker 1 (18:13):
Rice is looking better that coaches. It takes time sometimes, man,
like you gotta think about it. He's on a second coach,
That's what I'm talking about with Kayleb Williams. Right, they
fire Ebra Flues. You're gonna give Caleb another coach his
second year. That's that doesn't help young quarterbacks. Arnie bright
Shung is on his second coach, right, that doesn't help. Now,
this guy's supposed to be a young whisperer. He got
Baker paid again, right, Baker got another one hundred million

(18:35):
dollar contract playing under this guy. What is the What
do the Bucks look like this year? They're not the
same thing they were last year.

Speaker 2 (18:41):
No, that's for sure. I agree with you on that.
I'll tell you what we'll do. We're gonna come back.
We're gonna talk to Bertie Frowd on the games to
talk about. Of course he's got his opinion other than
the Michigan Ohio State games. So we'll talk to Bernie next.
But you're getting some holiday shopping done this weekend. We

on Fox Sports Radio The Bernie Frattos Show. He's gonna
be filling in for Ben Maller tonight, our buddy, Bernie Frado.
How you doing, Bernie?

Speaker 5 (20:01):
Gentlemen, Happy Thanksgiving. My arms are a little tired, but
you know how that goes.

Speaker 2 (20:07):
Why are your arms tired?

Speaker 5 (20:09):
My wife made a hell of a feast today. Man
if I had ate any more, I'd have gone into
a coma. I might have gone into a coma.

Speaker 2 (20:14):
I didn't know it, all right, Bertie, you're a big
Michigan fan, just like VJ. I tried to explain to
these to these guys, the rivalry just doesn't take it
as much as sparkle as it used to be back
in the day twenty five thirty years ago. That's beside
the point. Michigan about a nineteen and a half to
twenty point underdog. What's going to happen in this game?
How do you review? This rivalry. How do you see

(20:36):
it on Saturday? What's going on in this one?

Speaker 5 (20:40):
Well, Arnie, all due respect, I think to the rivalry
is as brutal as it's ever been. Wow, it's the
greatest rivalry in all the college sports.

Speaker 1 (20:49):
Thank you.

Speaker 5 (20:49):
Started as a land war back in the eighteen hundreds.
I covered ten of those games. I can promise you
the schools hate each other. My dear mother went to
the Universuy Michigan. I you know, I covered the team
for ten years. One thing to note, though, and I'm
gonna get to my handicap in a second. Here there's
a notion that the game's closed because it's a rivalry.
Not always. I mean, Hardball lost the first five by

(21:10):
a total in ninety five points, and Michigan's won the
last three by a total of thirty three. But be
that as it may. When the game touched twenty one
on Wednesday, I grab Michigan on a twenty one. I'm
trying to remember when a defending national champion who's getting
twenty one points the following year. A couple with the
fact that Ryan Days only six and twelve against the

(21:30):
spread in November home games in his tenure now, do
I think Michigan will win the game? No, I don't.
If you do, you can bet one hundred bucks and
then I'll bring back nine hundred and seventy eight. It
gives you about an eight point eight percent chance of winning.
Not right, And there are a couple of questions. I mean,
is Colston Loveland gonna play he left the game hurd
against Northwestern? Is Will Johnson gonna play? If not, he's

(21:54):
is he one hundred percent or it's always one hundred percent?
Be that as it may. I think Cohle State just
has too much talent on both sides of the ball.
I think they have an answer for everything defensively or
offensively that anybody can throw at them this year. Although
I don't discount the Ryan Day factor. You know, Casey

(22:16):
Stegel used to say teams can't beat the Yankees because
they get stuck staring at the pinstripes. I think Ryan Howard,
Ryan Howard, excuse me, Ryan Day looks at that wing
coming gets a little freaked out. So it would not
surprise me if it's a slugfest. But it will surprise
me if Ohio State doesn't win by more than ten.
But I think Michigan can hang that number, all right?

Speaker 1 (22:35):
What's going on, Bernie my man, Bernie Frida? How you doing? Playoff?
All good?

Speaker 2 (22:38):
How are you?

Speaker 1 (22:39):
Vigel? Big money Bernie bags man is what I call them.
I'm doing great, man, Bertie. Give us some good underdogs man.
You know, Martin and I we do our atomic dog
picks on the weekend on Saturday, and we do our show,
and I'm looking through the NFL, and I'm looking at
some of these underdogs man, and I mean, I know,
I know them bum ass Jets? Is the bum ass?
Just but that and half that one and a half
at home? Man, with the Seahawks coming in cross country,

(23:01):
I know you noticed that probably off the top of
your head. When those West Coast teams have to fly
back east and play that one o'clock kickoff, that's ten
eight m for West Coast teams. That doesn't fare well
for teams, man. Is that an underdog pick? People should
be looking up?

Speaker 5 (23:14):
Honestly, the games a stay away game for me, only
because the Jets are like a drunk crossing a nicy street.
They can't do anything right now. They're catching a point
and a half at home, which essentially makes it a
pick them game. You've got to really be discretionary in
this man's NFL and pick your spots. So if I'm

(23:36):
being honest with you, it's a stay away from me.
I wouldn't. I probably wouldn't.

Speaker 2 (23:40):
I wouldn't touch that game, Bertie any it just with
the Raiders Kansas City, as VJ brought up, Raiders have
won two of the last four in Kansas City. I
don't know how they could do it again, but any
chance of this one being close?

Speaker 5 (23:53):
Sure if we find out that Kansas City contracted malaria
tonight and when they wake up tomorrow. Look, I got
a rule of thumb. I don't lay double digits ever
in a divisional game. Look at all the fine folks
who lay ten with the lines today. How'd that work out?
So their land thirteen? Look, the Raiders just simply don't
have a quarterback. And Darryl Lmnica ain't walking through that door.

(24:15):
It's just a it's a dumpster fire. So that doesn't
mean I want to grab the Raiders because they're getting
double digits, But it doesn't mean I want to lay
it with the Chiefs either. So again, a stay away
from me. It feels like a Chiefs win by ten
or thereabouts, maybe more. But the Raiders have a fabulous
ability to turn the ball over, commit stupid penalties, blow assignments,

(24:39):
and I think Aiden o'conll is starting, but he's got
a bum finger, so I don't know what the hell
they do if he goes down. So sorry to break
up the party, guys, but that's a stay away from
me as well. Now there are some games on the
board I do like, but those two are stay aways.

Speaker 1 (24:50):
Game of a weekend in my opinion, Philadelphia Eagles and Raves.
I had the pleasure of covering them both back to
back nights. One played the Rams, the other one played
the Chargers, and I was there, so if I had
a chance, that's the Jalen Hurts and Lamar Jackson, two
guys that could be running towards MVPT. The consideration Baltimore's
getting Baltimore's favorite at home. This feels like, Yeah, this
feels like it could be a Super Bowl preview. It

(25:12):
really does.

Speaker 2 (25:13):
Here.

Speaker 1 (25:13):
You like that three points for Baltimore at home? What
do you like in this game? And who do you like?

Speaker 5 (25:18):
I will probably fire on Philadelphia plus the three. I
think they can win the game odd, right, give me
a team that runs the ball like Philadelphia that's getting points,
and sae Quon Barkley ud be nice if I could
speak English tonight, Sakuon Barkley is the goods. Yeah, And
all of a sudden, Philly looks like a four quarter
team that can wear you down. And I got to

(25:40):
tell you, for some reason, Philly mops up on AFC competition.
They're fourteen to two out right in the last sixteen
games against AFC teams. It's more of a gut play.
I haven't fired on it yet, but the only side
I would look to there would in fact be Philadelphia.
I think you take the points and they have an

(26:00):
excellent chance of winning out right.

Speaker 1 (26:01):
And Bernie, also, I'm sorry you real quick talking about
double digits at home. I warned people ten and a
half commanders Dallas last week. I warned people on the
show on Saturday, do not take that, and we saw
how that turned out. So you're right. Double digit double
division game two, Yes, double digit divisional games, You're absolutely right,
don't take them.

Speaker 2 (26:19):
Bernie, the bills, we talked about this earlier. Big weather problems.
They're going to get like two feet of snow by
the time that thing kicks off against the forty nine ers.
But the Bills, that's a lot of lumber. They got
a lay seven in this one.

Speaker 5 (26:32):
Yeah, I think the Bills win the game, but you
look to grab the points. San Francisco will play desperate.
They've just played poorly. They committed nine penalties last week,
wiped out an eighty seven yard Deebo Samuel return. They've
just not been able to click on all cylinders and
all three phases of the game. But I think they
keep that game within the number. It feels like Buffalo

(26:54):
by a field goal.

Speaker 1 (26:56):
Buffalo by a field goal. Talk to me about this
Saints game, man, Saints Rams, Rams on the road favor
though the Saints fight though many they're trying to hold on.
They fired their coach, and the Rams they're trying to
figure out whether they're going to get to the playoffs.
There that division is still could be had, though no
one wants to run away with the NFC West.

Speaker 5 (27:15):
Well, that's that's very true. And interestingly enough, the Rams are,
you know, laying two and a half on the road.
The wrong team might be getting points here actually, like
the Saints in this game. But these are two schizophrenic teams,
but the Saints the Rams feel like a shot fighter
to me. I mean, Philly just pushed them around last
week like a rented mule. I think that the Saints

(27:37):
get right here on Sunday. It's you know, and they've
got new life under this Darren Rizzy dude, who seems
like a real whack job, but sometimes that's what you need.
Maybe Dennis Allen was the problem. I never know how
he got a second job in the first place. So
I like the Saints here all right.

Speaker 2 (27:51):
Bertie, Before we let you go, I just wanted to
get your thought on what the Bears did today on
the ending where they just mismanaged the clock. What a
complete clock the way that game man did they cost
themselves again.

Speaker 5 (28:04):
Well listen, uh if the ink wasn't dry on on
Matt Eberflus's death warrant, now, it's sure as hell is now.
I mean that was an absolute disaster. Make Mike McCarthy
look good for crying out loud, Barnie Rovel. So it
felt like they had some sort of play called and
clock's ticking off? What are you doing? And Caleb Williams

(28:24):
is waltzing around looking like he's in the mall parking lot,
can't find out where he parked his car?

Speaker 1 (28:29):
Can it take?

Speaker 5 (28:31):
Hey, listen, somebody make a damn decision. Do something. And
I honest to god, you know, I was on with
Dan and Aaron earlier today. I covered thirteen Thanksgiving games
and the weirdness just just never ends, you know, from
the Droo Bettest thing years ago. So the Bears are
a hot mess. You can't bring Matt Ebraflus back.

Speaker 2 (28:52):
No, what's on the show tonight, Bernie. What are we
going to be listening to?

Speaker 5 (28:55):
Well, a lot of hijinks because it's it's Ben Maller.
But we're going to get heavily, heavily into the NFL.
I'm going to talk about why I think tanking makes
absolutely no sense. We're certainly going to get into a
lot of the stuff and in the college games coming
up and ramifications you know on you know who can
do this or who can do that? Story about a

(29:15):
guy who paid six million dollars for a banana?

Speaker 2 (29:18):
Wow, I saw that.

Speaker 5 (29:20):
I'll tell you about that story that's about the Dodger
signing Blake Snell. Yeah right, Okay, haters are coming out
all about that one right, and I got Billy Crackman
on tonight. We'll talk a little INBIA stuff. Yeah, so uh,
plenty of fun for the whole family.

Speaker 2 (29:35):
Well, I love it. We'll be let's see Bertie. Appreciate
you coming by and we'll talk to you later.

Speaker 1 (29:39):
Appreciate you for having me.

Speaker 2 (29:40):
Guys, Bernie, make sure you tune in. At the top
of the hour, we get VJ and I have to
give you our thoughts on the games coming up this weekend.
We'll do that, but first, one last time, let's check
in with our buddy Martin Whitz.

Speaker 6 (29:54):
The Package beat the Dolphins thirty to seventeen. Jordan Love
was twenty one for twenty eight. It's wonder seventy four
yards pan through the air and two touchdowns to a
tongue of by LOA record falls to zero to eight
when the temperature is under forty five degrees at the
start of the game. Cowboys beat the Giants at twenty
seven to twenty. Rico Dalo had one hundred and twlve
yard rushing and a touchdown. Giants first NFL team to

(30:15):
be eliminated from playoff contention. The Lions beat the Mayors
twenty three to twenty after trailing sixteen to nothing in
the first half. Caleb Williams threw three touchdown passes in
the second half in a comeback attempt. This is what
the last play of the game sounded like as Matt
Eberflus neglected to call time out.

Speaker 2 (30:31):
Throws it deep down field.

Speaker 1 (30:32):
It is a game outs and in complete.

Speaker 5 (30:35):
That's it.

Speaker 2 (30:36):
What in the world with the person?

Speaker 1 (30:39):
This game?

Speaker 4 (30:41):
It's over?

Speaker 2 (30:42):
Wait, man, you'll talk about the world of fuck This
managers over.

Speaker 6 (30:47):
That's Dan Miller on ninety seven on the Ticket Lions
Radio network. This is Matt Ebraflu's post game explaining his
thought process as he allowed the clock to take down
from thirty seconds to six seconds.

Speaker 2 (30:56):
Thick.

Speaker 1 (30:56):
We handled it the right way and I do believe that.
Uh just rerack the play, get it in bounce and
call time out. And that's why we held it and
didn't work out the way we wanted it. Two.

Speaker 6 (31:04):
Tulane lost its first game in conference play, thirty four
to twenty four to Memphis. The Green Wave now seven
and one in the ACC in the battle for Atlantis,
Louisville and Oklahoma playing the championship game. After Oklahoma beat Arizona,
eighty two to seventy seven, and Louisville beat West Virginia
seventy nine to seventy in overtime in the consolation bracket.
Third Ranke Gonzaga beat fourteenth rank Indiana eighty nine to

(31:25):
seventy three.

Speaker 2 (31:27):
Back to you guys, all right, thank you very much. Martin.
By the way that I just crack up every time
of year, Uberflu was at the podium saying, that's what
we wanted. That's you know, it just didn't work out
that way, but that's what we were hoping for. I mean,
can you imagine if you're a Bears fan, they must
be just burning up the local phone lines to get
this guy fired.

Speaker 1 (31:46):
Yeah, it's just it's a closer, you know what. There's
no more to say, man, we all know it. It's
just almost like staate in the obvious. He's gone. We
should probably start talking about, Okay, who gets the Chicago
job it? Ben Johnson? Does Ben Johnson feel like? I mean, hey,
you got a quarterback, right, that's generational?

Speaker 4 (32:04):
You know.

Speaker 2 (32:06):
I said the same thing about Cale Williams. Plank and
I go back and forth on this. He loves, absolutely
loves Caleb Williams. I of course, you know, don't hold
back and takeing pot shots at him. It's just amazing.
I'm kind of like on your side though he's not
even close to what he was supposed to be.

Speaker 1 (32:23):
No, he's a good quarterback and I think he can't
be great. But once again, when you tell me somebody's generational,
then I need to see you step in like Jordan
was generational. Like when when remember the old, the old,
the old conversation that Bobby Knight had with the head

(32:44):
coach for Portland at the time. I forget who it was,
but he said, who should we draft? He goes, you
draft Jordan. He goes, but we need a center. He said, okay,
so then play Jordan at center. Like it's not hard,
Like that's generational, bro, where it's like, you know, no
matter what you needed, the King Griffy junior number one
overall pick right did take him long, bro, he didn't

(33:05):
need the minors. And as soon as he stepped into
and as soon as he stepped in, as soon as
he got in, he's cracking home runs. He's chasing on off.
But you can see it, man, it's not when I
watched Caleb my pre draft stuff on Caleb last year
was just simply just put the put the tape on
the USC tape on. There's four bad tape. There's four
bad games, footwork, pocket awareness, there's four. You can't be

(33:29):
generational coming into the NFL and you have four bad
games on you.

Speaker 2 (33:33):
Do you think he deserves to have his number retired
at USC?

Speaker 1 (33:36):
Absolutely not?

Speaker 2 (33:37):
Wow wow, because I brought this up yesterday. Planks like
he's a Heisman Trophy winner, he has to have his
number retired.

Speaker 1 (33:43):
No, that doesn't get your number retired. National championship should
get your number retired. Heisman Trophy and National champs trophy. No, no, no,
that shouldn't get your number retired. You shouldn't need you
should need to win a national championship now you want
to if they want to retire twenty years later or
something like.

Speaker 2 (34:02):
He's getting he's getting his retired now.

Speaker 1 (34:04):
No, absolutely not, absolutely not. Yeah, Heisman trophy. What was
the hold up? Did he win it Heisman Trophy for
I thought he wanted in Oklahoma? He didn't win it
at USC?

Speaker 2 (34:14):
No, he yeah, but he has Yeah, he has a
Heisman Trophy.

Speaker 1 (34:17):
It doesn't matter then definitely, Howebout said, I just talkt
about that, then definitely, hell no, you don't get your
you don't get your you don't get your number retireed
because you want a Hedsman Trophy the school used to
be at. Now, if Oklahoma wants to retire it because
you want a Heisman Trophy in Oklahoma, that's fine. But
there's no way you go seven and four or eight
and five or whatever they were going to two years
he was there, you know, getting letting Utah slap you

(34:39):
around in the back twelve championship game back to back years.
You don't get your you don't get your your your
number retired. I love the way the Tar Hills doing
in basketball. They only retire jersey numbers of National Championship
winners that won the Nate Smith Award. If I'm not
I think it's like National Championship ACC Player of the
Year and like Nate Smith Award winners are the only
people who get their number retired from the University of

(35:02):
netlanb My nephew, Kendall Marshall is the all time leading
assist guy in the history of that school and the
ACC leader in the history at ACC. Then it retire
his number. Two people have worn a number five since
my nephew Kendall left Carolina, two people have worn his number.
But he didn't win the National Championship, and he didn't
win the Nate Smith Award like he didn't. He didn't

(35:22):
win those awards. You have to win that type of stuff.
You gotta hang banners. Man.

Speaker 2 (35:25):
All right, we're gonna come back. We'll finish things off.
Take look at what's coming up tomorrow on UH, Sunday
and Saturday. All that next right here on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 4 (35:35):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to
listen live.

Speaker 2 (35:47):
Wow, what a quick show flying on by unbelievable. By
the way, I want to thank the crew, Mary Mack
of course, our tech, a little director, Patrick our producer.
The updates have I figure i'd do it once in
a while. I'm Markwiss on the updates. My partner VJ.

(36:11):
By the way, Kagle Williams Heisman in twenty twenty two
at usc which is why they want to retire his number.
But he went seventeen and eight I believe overall on
his one and loss though winning the Heisman. I wonder
if that should go ahead and get there.

Speaker 1 (36:27):
I missed out on a year. But no, that's not
worthy of having a number retired. That's not worthy of
having a number of retired.

Speaker 5 (36:33):
Man.

Speaker 1 (36:33):
Sorry him.

Speaker 2 (36:34):
Some quick picks. Oregon State going to be at Boise
State on Friday. Boise State actually at eighteen to that point. Favorite.
Big game for Boise State as they look to go
ahead and find themselves in that twelve teen playoff out there.
I think they get it done. Obviously. They're running back
what's his name, a gent A Gentry. Yeah, he has

(36:55):
been phenomenal over two thousand yards rushing. Love him a lot,
and he's only done on seventy five carries. I think
Poise he gets it done tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (37:03):
Jens left, gen C right, Genc middle. Next game.

Speaker 2 (37:06):
Yeah, Colorado you pulling for them to brother sixty point
favorite over Okoloma State.

Speaker 1 (37:11):
Absolutely, Oklahoma State one three.

Speaker 2 (37:13):
They're already eight in the Big twelve.

Speaker 1 (37:15):
For the first time in life forever. But no, no, no,
give it. Yeah, Colorado O'Dell last week was a was
a tough one, man. I think the I think they
right the wrongs and get that done.

Speaker 2 (37:23):
Give me your score on the Michigan Ohio State game.
I know you said you had a close so you're
gonna pull off the upside.

Speaker 1 (37:29):
Give me a score on that game twenty six, twenty
four Michigan.

Speaker 2 (37:34):
Last second field goal or something like that.

Speaker 1 (37:36):
Uh No, Ohio State's driving and it ends on a
fourth down they don't convert. Already, throw a pick. I'll
tell you, I'll tell you. Howard's gonna throw the game
away Saturday, all right, if the game's closed. Now, not
if they blow him out, they blow hi out, arearny.
But if the game's closed, if the game's close, will
Howard will throw the game? Boy?

Speaker 2 (37:57):
Usc no Tradavid. You know today Bowie seven, that point
favorite and US season at home. I mean that's what
That's the kind of games that upsets are made of.

Speaker 1 (38:07):
Na I give me Notre dame. Give me notre dame
to cover. I got no name covering this man.

Speaker 2 (38:13):
Are we overlooking the Auburn Alabama game? Alabama after that
just abysmal game against Oklahoma, now in the Iron Bowl,
Alabama loving that point? Fair?

Speaker 1 (38:24):
Yeah? They better? They better real tall, they better watch
Auburn in this game. Alabama, better watch Auburn in this game.

Speaker 2 (38:29):
I think it's gonna be close.

Speaker 1 (38:31):
These robbery games. We've seen it before. Man, the kick six,
the kick six return game. What was Auburn like a
four to five win team that year? Alabama was trying
to get back to the National championship game.

Speaker 2 (38:41):
I'm only bringing up this game, but it's a big game.
Arizona Arizona State four Arizona State. Arizona State named that
point favorite down in Tucson. Another rivalry here, watch out
for this one. Love my Wildcats to pull off the
upset of this one. Vija.

Speaker 1 (38:54):
Yeah, it just made man like it's still a big
game because it's a ribbery game. Bro robbery games. That's
what happens in the rivalty games. You throw the you
throw the records out.

Speaker 2 (39:04):
I do.

Speaker 1 (39:04):
I will say this though, I do like Arizona State
in this game, cause they're playing for a lot more.
But I think Arizona keeps it close.

Speaker 2 (39:11):
All right, let's get it in at least one NFL game.
How about the forty nine ers. Bills. Bill's a seven
point favorite against those forty nine ers. What are you
think of VJ.

Speaker 1 (39:18):
Bill's cover? It's not even close. The weather or just
you know, just the Niners and Super Bowl, Super Bowl hangovers,
A real tam.

Speaker 2 (39:24):
All right, we'll see what happens VJ. A pleasure, my friend.
We'll do it again tomorrow, so looking forward to that. Obviously,
we'll have a lot to say about the Raider Kansas
City game, there's no doubt about that. Plus we'll get
you ready for all the games coming up on this weekend.
So enjoy, my friend. Enjoy you too.

Speaker 1 (39:41):
Man God bless. I appreciate it, and man, God bless everybody.
Happy Days Giving, Happy Friday camp.

Speaker 2 (39:47):
Save your money, prety freto, coming up next. We'll see
you then,
