Patrick, when I were just talking, we're watching the game,
We're talking back and forth over to mic from room

this game. You're gonna get the ball back to more times.
You don't have to worry about one possession. But on
fourth down, I said, I would have still taken the
field goal because that makes it fourteen to twenty seven.
It's still a two possession game, and you don't need

another two point conversion. Two touchdowns wins the game, you
win by one. That's how I would have never went
for it right there, because it would have gone for it. Yeah. No,
it wasn't the one yard line. That's the problem. One
and the half. Yeah, what doesn't matter, man, you haven't
been able to run the football. Go look at the
Russian stats so they know you're throwing it to play
before that was the money played. He held the fake

a little too long and tried to carry it out.
That's old Patrick. We had a quarterback, our quarterback this year.
There were times I would tell him, hey, man, bump
the fake. If you know they're coming. Sometimes you gotta
just stick the ball in your pull out quick and

I guess every quarterback in the league that gets hit,
you know, and I don't believe that that's true football
roughing the passer. But the way they've been calling it,
as I always say, I'm a football player, I played
the game, and I think the game is offter today.

But if you're gonna call it a certain way, just
call it that way across the board. Don't call it
certain ways for certain players. If you're gonna call players
getting buck, call like quarterbacks getting a shoulder or form
shiver and they fall to the ground, and you're calling
that roughing the passer like they do for Pat Mahomes
all the time, all the time, all the time, all
the time. But you're not gonna call a guy taking

a step and then lunging and leaping and elbowing to
it in the top of his back and snapping his
neck like that, that's not roughing the passers. Okay, cool?

The problem I have if you know you're gonna go
for it on fourth down, you gotta run the ball
on third.

They try to run it on they try to run

Now they turn around and throw a flag on us

the NFL, the officiating could be lopsided, the luck is
gonna be lopside. I think it's hard to win on

So do you think the officiating is that bad overall
across the board.

In the league. Yeah, I do, And because once again,
they don't call it evenly across the board. If one
quarterback gets shoved to the ground and it's rough in
the passer, then you have to call it for everybody.
You can't just call it for certain guys or when
you fall on a guy, you know, and your body
weight gets on him and stuff like that. Like, you

can't just call it when you want to. You have
to be consistent with it and call it throughout, you know, everything.
And as we see Josh Jacobs catch a short pass
and then take it what fifty something the yards down
the field, and that's the defense just now just starting
to wear down. Seven is some change left in the
fourth quarter twenty seven to eleven. That also to on
that last drive, it changes a lot. Man, if that

scores twenty. If that scores twenty instead of twenty seven,
that brings us back to the drop punt that starts
the game.

But the way he's acting is just comprehension. I mean,
forget about immature. It's like there's a chemical and balance
or something like that. He's over the top. As Steve
kerrwe said he would never talk to anybody in the
world like he does two officials. I don't know when
you're coaching, if you know, I know, you gotta yell

stuff Vjay and you got to get out officials. That's
part of the game. I don't know how far you
take it. You curse at them? Do you call them
names I can't repeat on the air? Do you call
them slangs that I can't repeat on the air. I
don't know how far everybody takes it, but Danny Hurley
just took it about as far as you could take it.

hope he loses every game. Somebody's got to sit him
down in his inner circle and say you gotta stop.

like most everrated back to back chips in college football,
college basketball history and acts like he's Dean Smith hashtag

You are coming off back to back championships. You figured

There's a lot of coaches that feel like they have
to go ahead and intimidate the officials. I got to
do it for the next call, and I got to
do it for the next call. And I've seen Coach
K and his demeanor, and gosh, look at some of
these football coaches out there. VJ coach, I think it's
gotten way out of here.

Coach K was just as bad. If you remember, he
got investigated by the nc double at one point. Of course,
they swept that under the rug because he was the
good old middle American image, you know, good old boys
club college basketball coach for so long. But you remember
there were there were officials that were saying they didn't
want to go coach games there because they didn't feel
like they can do their job because they were being intimidated.
And there was one official that was on record with

his investigation with NC double A that said that he
was told by coach K you'll never coach in the
ACC again. I repend ACC again. I can make that.
I can make that happen. Wow. So when you start
doing stuff like that, I lose respect for you because
now you're manipulating the game. I don't like cheaters. I
don't like manipulators. I don't like people that manipulate the game.

That's what your coaches are trying to do. Right, You're no,
you tried to manipulate for the next call.

Speaker 3 (08:08):
No, you're no. You're campaigning to get equal calls for
your guys, not trying to intimidate refs so that they
don't call things and that for Sorry, let me ask
you this. You're a big sports guy, you're a big
college basketball fan. So many years, did you think anybody
can go win the Duke? Did I think somebody? Did
you think anybody can go win a game at Duke?

It was tough to do it, There was no doubt
about it. Why why they had such a great home
home court advantage? Why the fans, The fans are on
top of the court there, what else? What the refs
give them all the call?

no calls at Duke. That was that was, there was
twenty five years of that. I'm a tar Hill guy, Okay,
so I lived it. I lived in the ACC. My
nephew played at Carolina. I've been in I've been in

senior night. I've watched how those officials like have to
kind of ignore even look at but doesn't.

Play at home and not like Duke. Nobody gets calls

when he got a two shot technical and it was
like thirty seconds I don't even remember off to the
top of my head right now, and he was like,

So mad about, Arnie. Winning's not good for everybody. You've
been around pro athletes. I'm around pro athletes and former
athletes all the time. What do you always hear about
teams that win championships. Some guys come back more hungry.
Some guys come back ready to win and do it
again and work harder. And some guys what they think
they've made it. They come back. They didn't been in

new jewelry, and they're the same guy. They haven't improved,
they haven't brought none to the game. And then some
people win, and then they think that the arrogance goes up,
the egle goes up. They think they're untouchable, they think

happened to his career was the man got a championship

State rivalry what it meant twenty twenty five years ago,
the Alabama Auburns, the USC Notre Dame. If this was
twenty five years ago, you and I would have talked
to Michigan Ohio State for at least the first two hours,
if not the whole four hours. That's what the yes,
I understand if something had two losses or three, but

these rivalries USC Notre Dame, even Hartman said ucla USC
would have been a four hour extravaganza. We don't do
that anymore. The extent of the new conferences, the twelve team playoff,
many other reasons why these rivalries no longer significant like

they used to be twenty five years ago.

No, I disagree. I disagree. I think I think it's
hyperbolic for people to say, oh, it doesn't matter anymore,
doesn't this anymore? It doesn't. No, it does, and it's
got nothing to do with the twelve team playoff or

You're right, we would have led with it today. But
since winning, there have been three playoffs, three NFL games
on Thanksgiving, right, so we have to lead with that.

And this game also used to be before Thanksgiving. They've
moved the seasons back and they've added games from which

again regular season games teams play twelve. Now there were
ten regular season games. When I was a kid. College
football season started before Labor Day. Now we have week zero,
which my partner hates. Right, we have week zero and
then we have week one. And college football used to
start like right at Labor Day weekend, and it was
done the week before Thanksgiving. There were no there were

no there were no rankings and no no meetings and
no shows. It was the polls and there was number
one verse number two was going to play for the
national Championship game in either the Orange Sugar Rolls or Festa,
and that was it, and then all the other bulls.
That was it. It's so much more now. I don't
blame it on the conference, the re alignments or none
of that stuff. This is just it's so like today.
How many college basketball games? Since when was college basket?

When you and I were kids, was college basketball on
Thanksgiving Day?

It was not like this. No, No, there were no
college basketball games being played on Thanksgiving Day twenty years ago,
twenty five, thirty years ago. Today, I walk into the studio,
I'm like, Wow, Illinois and such and such in this game,
and everybody's dare there's ten college basketball games on ten
attend So that's why it doesn't lead as it should.
But I guarantee you tomorrow, which proves my point that

it's not as big as it was twenty five thirty
years ago.

How we used to build it up and talk about
it and enjoyed it so much more. It was more
of you know, it just consumed US VJ. It was
that's all we could think about, was the Michigan Ohio
State game, or the Augur and I Abavin game or
games like that.

disagree because there's so there's too much. There's so much
going on, it's hard to just try to zero. How
about this, the last two years leading into this game,
you and I did Thanksgiving Night together. The last two
years going into this game, there were number one and

ever remember. I haven't I have an exemplar. I have
a wonderful memory. The last two years you and I
did this night, this timeframe, this block, this network, everything.
They were number one and number two going into that game.
It didn't know. It did not lead our show because
there was three NFL games on, and there was three

hundred and seventy five college basketball games on and the
game is still two days away. It's games, not tomorrow,
today's Thursday games. Not yet tomorrow. We can lead with
it if you want. You and I are here seven
to eleven, and we can do it tomorrow. But right
now we have to do There's an NFL live game
on right now. No one's talking college football right now.

Well, I mean, look, it is a big week in
the college football. Obviously, that is one of the big games.
There's a whole slew of them that we'll get through

happening with LSU. They beat Mercer and then they go

a little bit of a underdog pick, I don't know.
Penn State does intrigue me at sixteen to one, and

they can pull it off, but they've played a tough schedule.

they's got quarterback issues, right Penn State. Penn State has
