An NFL coach got fired today, the Chiefs can't score
more than twenty points. George is down at home right
now to Georgia Tech. NBA is popping, College basketball is popping.
There's so much going on in sports. We just talked
about the college football playoff last night. There's gonna be
a big shake up of that if this Georgia Georgia
Tech game keep saying to this, but I would be
remiss if I wasn't the normal host that I am,
and I love to introduce everybody that helps the show

(01:06):
become what it is. We're on the air, it's not
just us blowhards running our mouths talking about sports and
our silly, stupid opinions. We have a lot of people
in the background that I'm always blessed to work with
that help things go like a weld oil machine, Steve
the Sager, the best update man in the business. For

the little cousin, the girl next door. Everything that's good
about a young lady. She is our little baby, sister's

Speaker 1 (01:59):

the show, I won't gonna big brother you. But you

I ain't give that big brother VJ. I'm like, hold
on versus. First of all, the hell is what what

(02:23):
was that? And then a time was had?

Speaker 1 (02:25):
That is a.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
Large spectrum of things. But always lovely to have you speak.
I'm glad you had a good time last night.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
What's up? Mama? Calling me out is so crazy on
on AIRA.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
Well, you call everybody out you work with start, Yes
you do, Yes, you do. So Welcome to the family.
This is how we do it, and that is always.
I think I've worked more with this gentleman other than Marion.
Weis's my normal Saturday part of your Here's tomorrow from
five to eight, eight to eleven on the East coast,
five to eight on the West coast. This steaking genius
mister sit in his car while other people shovel them

(02:57):
out and miss the dessert. Himself, mister RNI spaying istinking genius.
Then tonight, what's up?

Speaker 4 (03:02):
Playoff VJ. Let's go ahead, let's get out of it.
Look at everything that's going on. Everything that you mentioned.
Got my eye on the Georgia tech Georgia gave me
and watching that they are right now putting the world
or hurt on them. We'll see if they get the upset.
Good drive by Georgia to get back in this game
like that. The Lakers play tonight, So we got a
lot going on tonight.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
Yeah, we do got a lot going on. We got
a lot going on on the show too, so let's
jump right into it. News of the day would have
been the NFL game, but let's just get real. It
was the Raiders and the Chiefs. You and I both
hit on with Bernie Friddle last night.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
We did not.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
Think that the Chiefs would cover. We both took the
Raiders to cover along with Bernie Friddle. He doesn't like
double digit division leads, so that would have been the
least story today.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
But whenever an.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
NFL head coach gets FIAT in the middle of z
ss N, that leads most shows. The Chicago Bears today
after a meeting with their coach last night, had another
meeting with him today, and the meeting today it was
pretty much, let me get your fob key, let me
get you played book, let me get your parking pass
and all of that good stuff player, because yeah, here's

(04:04):
your final check with all the money we owe you.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
Bye bye.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
The Chicago Bears have fired Matt Eberflus, which is a
move most people have been calling for, myself have been
calling for for the last year. I thought bringing in
so called generational number one overall pick Caleb Williams quarterback
out a usc by way of Oklahoma, I thought that
was a bad move. If you were gonna make a
generational pick at number one, start them fresh with a

(04:28):
guy that you know you're gonna have at least for
the next three years moving forward, not a lame duck coach.
They fired him today. We want to talk about their
next move some other names, but just the initial reaction
from you, mister Spaniard, What did you think when you
first saw that the Chicago Bears had told Matt Eberflus,

(04:48):
thank you, but ni thank you.

Speaker 4 (04:50):
No it it wasn't much of a surprise, I think
right they were as upset as everything as everybody else,
or as the Bears fan were as the way that
game finished, so they couldn't make it anymore. Of course,
they botched up the firing because they let them go
ahead and do the press conference. Then they called them
up and then they fired them. But they they can't
even do that right. The whole thing's in the backle

(05:11):
Probably was, I mean, probably was gonna get fired at
the end of the year. Anyway. It's something they don't
like to do because it doesn't really serve a purpose
in firing somebody in the middle of the year, except
this time, maybe they can go after a Belichick or
maybe somebody that's available. Maybe they could start early if
there's no tampering involved. That's a possibility. For what it's worth, though,

(05:33):
I think a lot of it comes from frustration because
of the way the game end and the Bears just
had nothing to forget about it. We're gonna make a move,
We'll just do it now. We can't take it anymore.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
And speaking of you know, they don't normally do this.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
I saw something today that I thought was very interesting
and very intriguing. In over one hundred years of the
Chicago Bears, franchise history. This is the very first time
they have fire to coach within the season.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
They normally will let you.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
Finish out which And I'll tell you this, Arnie, I
give a lot of respect to that.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
I do. I give a lot of respect to that.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
And that's because I'm a guy that's probably dated and
stayed with women way too long because I didn't want
to break come. I don't like breaking up. And I
always think that problems could be fixed. I'm a problem solver.
Well you know, I'm a solutions guy. We all know
the problems. What's the solutions? What are we gonna do
to fix the problems? And I think that it's always
best to wait until the years over. But now they
can kind of get their eye on guys, but they
can't talk to anybody just yet. I think a name

(06:32):
like Ben Johnson, you threw Belichick out there. I'm gonna
stick to my guns. As I said last year, I
think Belichick is done coaching in the NFL. I think, yeah,
I do. With the age, you know, he's gonna want
full power. Then these are just things I've heard. These
are things I've heard when he was you know, a
rumor with Atlanta the commander some other teams.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
I was up there. I know everybody's throwing Dallas out there.
I think the Giant job.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Could be open if they just continue to fall flat
on their face. I think maybe that job could be open,
especially if they continue to get their asses kicked away.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
They're not just losing, they're getting beat now. They played
tough yesterday.

Speaker 2 (07:06):
But Dallas doesn't have their quarterback either, and that makes
a big difference when you don't have your signal caller.
But I think Ben Johnson is a name that's out there.
It could be a college name out there. There could
be some other young wonder guy, offensive minded guy that
could also be out there. But they're definitely gonna be
in the hunt for a new coach. And I want
to throw this opinion out there too, and I want
to see what you think about this. Last year, I

(07:28):
got made fun of because I said that if I
were the Bears, I would have stayed with Justin Phils.
I would have stayed with Justin Phils because you're going
to fire Matt Eberflues anyway. With my exact words, and said,
you're gonna fire eber Flues anyway, so you might as
well just stay with Justin Field one more year, I believe,
is it free agent or he can explore free agency

(07:50):
after the season this last year of his contract, and
then if you decide to go get another quarterback. Every
year there's a quarterback in the draft that we think
is gonna be the guy. Right, so there's gonna be
more quarterbacks. You got yours, you got cam Ward. There
was a third guy that we couldn't come up with
last night. I remember you were talking about his name,
but I said I would have stayed with Justin Phils
and I would have drafted the great, the best skill

(08:11):
guy in the draft. And he showed it today and
that was Brock Bowers and I got laughed at for that.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
I just want to point out one thing to everybody
that laughed at that.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
The Bears have Kayla Williams, fine, but they now have
to have a new head coach. He's gonna be a
second year guy with another head coach, another offensive voice,
another coacher, another voice in the locker room, another temperament
of the franchise. Okay, and you're four and eight, you'd
have been in the same place or better if you'd
have kept Justin Phils and you would have had what
is a true generational person because he's showing it on

(08:42):
the field, and Brock Bowers. Trust me, I know there's
plenty of people that are thinking, EJ, you're crazy. Okay,
well just tell me why I'm crazy. Because they're not winning.
They fired their coach and you have to start all
over pretty much next year. And there's no lock that
Caleb Williams is this generational guy.

Speaker 4 (09:00):
I like Fields, I do, but I still think the
Bears went in the right direction to Caleb Williams is
gonna end up being the much better quarterback. It was
the right move. It was just the wrong coach for
the situation. He's gonna, you know, right now, it may
look bad, but he's gonna go ahead and have a
new lease on life. He's gonna have a whole new offense,
something that's better. This offense was atrocious. I mean, they

(09:24):
went what like twenty quarters without scoring. It's finally like
he gets the chains off the least offense, like, hey,
now I can throw deep, I can do whatever I want.
And then you know, you didn't have to worry about it.
So we'll see if the true Caleb Williams comes out
in the next couple of games and how the offense
looks different. I think it's gonna be a good situation

(09:44):
for him. They'll get who they want, They'll have to
make sure it's the right pick, and we'll see where
it takes them. But it's only gonna be good things
for Caleb Williams.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
Here's my beef about that hole. We want to blame
everybody else on the offense. As I said last night,
in any sport, not just football. Martin and I talked
about Victor winbin Yama right when he first started out
in summer league, and it didn't start so hot. We
weren't really trying to bang on him. We were just
banging on the people that said he was the highest prospect,

(10:14):
not just in basketball and all of sports ever. So
that was over John Elway, if you remember what he
was like coming out of school. It was over Bo Jackson.
It was over Michael Jordan Michael. There was a good
story and a good line about when the Portland Trailblazers
had the number two pick coming out in the draft,
right and had the number two pick, and their jam had.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
Called Bobby Knight. Bobby Knight had just coached Michael Jordan and.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
I believe it was the Olympics, and he asked him,
He goes, who do I take at two?

Speaker 5 (10:43):
Man?

Speaker 2 (10:43):
Help me out. He goes, take Michael Jordan. He goes, yeah,
but we need a center. He said, yeah, So then
play Michael Jordan at center. Like it's huge, that's generational.
And it shows up the minute they step on the field,
the floor, the baseball diamond, what have you. It's not
hard to say. See, there's no real warm up to it.
But when I look at what Chicago's done offensively, okay,

(11:06):
seventeen to twenty one points, and this is preseing the
preseason at twenty one and thirty three, eight and at
twenty seven.

Speaker 1 (11:12):
Oh wow, here we go. This looks great.

Speaker 2 (11:15):
Regular season starts twenty four points against the Titans, they
beat them, thirteen against Houston, they lose sixteen against the Coach.

Speaker 1 (11:22):
They lose twenty four against the.

Speaker 2 (11:23):
Rams at home, they win, thirty six at home against Carolina,
they win.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
Then they go thirty.

Speaker 2 (11:28):
Five against Jacksonville, nother t How they know those teams
are really really bad. Records sixty to fifteen points and
only let's remember, only nine points leading up until the
last draft against lys drafts drive, excuse me against the
Washington Commanders, then nine points against Arizona, three points against
the Patriots, nineteen points against the Packers, twenty seven points
in the loss against against Minnesota, and then twenty points yesterday.

(11:52):
They if Caleb Williams is so generational, stop blaming everybody
else around him. You can't go score points good enough
to make the throws and and and and and you know,
go through your progressions and make the plays. I just
I just always pushed back on, Oh the play calling
in it and man play call. It wasn't great for
the Dolphins last night. They're getting killed today for to

(12:13):
It's still played well right to It still made his
throws over three hundred yards, two touchdowns, didn't throw an interception,
didn't turn the ball over like great players, good to
great players. They erase a lot of these excuses that
I'm hearing about. Kayla Wall.

Speaker 4 (12:24):
Yeah, I think you're being a little harder when we
were talking about a rookie who's what like a lot
being harsh. I'll give you that, very hard and too.
Baby doesn't have to be a generational player. Maybe he's
just gonna be a good to a great quarterback. I mean, yeah,
maybe a lot of people were like, oh, this is
gonna be like a once in a lifetime thing. That's
kind of crazy because you've seen Tom Brady and you

(12:45):
know you're gonna tell me he's gonna be as good
as Tom Brady. That's that's asinine to me. I mean,
you've you've seen a lot of people fall short, and rightfully,
so he's He'll still be a good quarterback. He's just
not gonna live up to all those unrealistic expectations. And
and and you'll see about it. You'll see we'll all
see how much better he's for it with a new coach.

Speaker 2 (13:04):
Right now, VJ, speaking of new coaches, Man, we're gonna
talk about coming up, who's next on the chopping block?
Something else I didn't put out there too already. I

we're gonna talk about, it'll get too much of it away.
But that's all coming up at the nine o'clock hour.

We got some great stuff we want to get to.

Speaker 2 (14:51):
First of all, Mary, Now, this sounds like we really
love our music here for you guys that are out
there listening to us Fox Sports Radio Land. Mary and
I talk about songs to play when I do my
show or I fill in. Sometimes she'll hit me with
something and I won't know who it is. I have
no idea who this is. I feel like I'm an
old guy. Now feels like somebody young.

Speaker 1 (15:11):
This Kendrick is from the new album. I haven't heard
the Hold Kendrick. I haven't heard the whole new Kendrick yet. Okay,
that's what's really good. Okay, and it's a really good album. Okay,
I haven't heard Arnie. Did you know who this was?

Speaker 5 (15:23):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (15:23):
Yeah, Kendrick.

Speaker 4 (15:27):
I was like right off the battle as soon as
I heard that. Yeah, I said before the show. I
said before the show. I'm hoping we get to hear
some Kendricks.

Speaker 1 (15:39):
Arnie, Arnie, what's Kendrick's last name again? Okay, get his attention? Okay, no,
he pays attention. Let's ask him that a couple of
hours from now in your face. Exactly good stuff, Arnie.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
Let's jump to uh, let's stay with Let's stick with
NFL coaches. We talked about Matt Eeberflus being shown the door,
but you and I think there could be some other
teams they'd be showing their coaches the door.

Speaker 1 (16:02):
The Saints. Let's just revert the year so far.

Speaker 2 (16:04):
The Saints sold Dennis Allen Bye bye, them bum ass,
Jets told Robin Salah bye bye. So and then now
the Chicago Bears have told Matt Eberflus bye bye. What
other teams you think should fire they coach, could fire
they coach, or should be kind of on the lookout,
you know, fans should be kind of a little worried

(16:25):
that they coach might get fired.

Speaker 1 (16:26):
Who you get.

Speaker 4 (16:27):
It's gonna be the most ever. You mentioned the Bears,
you mentioned the Saints, You mentioned the Giants, Yes, the
Jets Jacksonville. Did I say the Jets trye Jacksonville, Las
Vegas could be a possibility. What about our buddy over
there at Miami and McDaniels.

Speaker 1 (16:42):
I wrote it down.

Speaker 4 (16:43):
I gave you the stats five one and eleven against
teams above five hundred, five hundred or better, two and fourteen,
four hundred and better, three and fifteen. Look, whether you
like it or not, those numbers are staggering.

Speaker 1 (16:58):
Yeah, the cold weather.

Speaker 4 (16:59):
Stuff, and we knew how old did we hear about
you can't beat a team above five hundred for the
last couple of years. So I mean, we could debate
that later on if people disagree, But you got maybe
Miami Carolina. You know, Jerry says he could give it
an extension to Mike McCarthy. I thought that was gonna
be an opening. If that's not maybe nine, nine to ten.

(17:21):
If I'm missing something off the top by it, I
don't know, perhaps somebody will get canned. But that's why
I say, Belichick, I mean, do you have too many
openings for somebody not to take a shot at him?
But yeah, I think there could be nine or ten
right around there.

Speaker 2 (17:37):
Okay, so let me touch on some of these teams
you touched on Dallas. I Honestly, it would be hard
for me to think. I can see them. I can
see if they fired him, and it would make me
go okay. But Jerry Jones has shown he is very loyal.
Jason Garrett, it should have been fired four years, right,
maybe five years prior to when he got fired. Jerry
Jones is a loyal man for everything else he is.

Speaker 4 (18:01):
The man is loyal, and he talked about an extension
on the radio just last week.

Speaker 2 (18:04):
Absolutely, so I could see that job still being his.
The Raiders, I could see. It would kind of just
be kind of unfair. Right, It's like, wow, two years
no quarterback. The guy came in and really, you know,
change the culture a little bit, but the record doesn't
show it.

Speaker 1 (18:22):
But you don't have a quarterback.

Speaker 2 (18:24):
I have a problem firing guys when they don't have
a quarterback and they don't have their quarterback and maybe they've.

Speaker 1 (18:31):
Lost the locker room.

Speaker 2 (18:32):
I haven't heard anything about the locker room being lost
in Vegas. I haven't heard any players come out. Only
guy was DeVonta Adams and we saw what I predicted that.

Speaker 1 (18:40):
I said he's going to be gone by the trade
dead line, and he was.

Speaker 4 (18:42):
That might not be the reason he gets fired, though.
Would he could be still having a control of the
locker room. He could, his players could love him. They
could even be looking tough like they did against Kansas City.
But what happens if Las Vegas somehow has the number
one pick in the draft and you want Sanders and
you know that maybe Dion is also interested. Now you're

(19:06):
kind of Forest, aren't your VJ? Aren't you kind of Forest?
If you want your Danders, don't you have to say,
all right, Dion, do you want to be the head coach?
Or do you want to stay in Colorado? I mean,
it's a possibility he still ends up with his son Arnie.

Speaker 2 (19:19):
I'm not even gonna disagree, And I actually like that.
I have a better team, I think. But the reason
why I will pause on that is because if that's
the case, this would have to move very fast. It
would have to move very fast, because remember, the NFL
season goes into January, the regular season does it goes
into the beginning of January. The Colorado season is going
to be over by then, right, Deon Daja, there was

(19:40):
just a his story that dropped today. Colorado just nailed
down like another five star and like two or three
more four stars, right, so they're still recruiting really, really
good players. I have a hard time thinking Dion is
going to back out of the door after year two
just because this son, because we all knew his Sun
was only there for two years. We all knew Travis
it was only there for two years. If they if

(20:02):
he backs off the door, you have Warren sat there,
you have other big time in a former NFL players
that you gotta think they're all gonna leave. It would
it just wouldn't be a good look. It just really
wouldn't well for Dion to leave there.

Speaker 4 (20:15):
Would anybody really blame him that he wants to coach
his son in the NFL? They go, how dare you
Dion leave the John?

Speaker 1 (20:21):
But Dion another point I have.

Speaker 2 (20:23):
Dion has said himself he would have a problem coaching
in the pros because it's it's millionaires that don't listen.

Speaker 1 (20:30):
The league is like he those were his words, that's nothing.

Speaker 4 (20:33):
He won't have the freedom that he has in Colorado.
Let's fade. Let's face, he won't be able to wear
his sunglasses. Maybe on the sideline, the NFL may frown
upon whatever he's trying to pimp or or you know,
sell or whatever it is.

Speaker 1 (20:46):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yea, yeah, absolutely, he.

Speaker 4 (20:48):
Won't have that full control. You're right about that.

Speaker 1 (20:51):
I got two teams that you didn't name. Okay, I
think the Giants job could be had.

Speaker 4 (20:55):
Oh yeah, yeah, I think the.

Speaker 2 (20:56):
Giants job could be a They continue to look this
bad and they don't have a quarterback. But Brian Dabel
had his opportunity to take a quarterback and make something
of him, and he did it. Let's just call it
what it is he did. Do you think Dion would
trust Brian Dabele with his son. Dion's gonna be hands on.

Speaker 4 (21:12):
But again, if the Giants have the number one pick,
maybe it's another package deal with Dion and Dion would
not you know. Shaduur put the like on TikTok or
Twitter or whatever it was when when the Giants lost,
like he was doing with the Raiders also, so there
is some message there right now. VJ.

Speaker 2 (21:31):
Yeah, I got a few more teams and we'll jump
to that in a one second. But I tell you
somebody else that's not going to be fired and doesn't
have to worry about trying to go where his son's
going to be and that's the best update guy in
the business. Steve the Seger. There's a lot going in. Brother,
nobody can feel this, say like you go for it.

Speaker 3 (21:46):
Good to hear you both. We are in the fourth
quarter at seventh rank. Georgia Bulldogs are driving. They have
but one touchdown at home against Georgia Tech. In fact,
we're getting shut out at home at the half when
it was seventeen to nothing. That's now a lead of
twenty to six with eight and a half minutes to go.
Clock running gold to go from the one for Georgia

(22:07):
right now. When they scored their third quarter touchdown, they
went for two and missed it. So Georgia is down fourteen.
They've just gotten in with a touchdown run extra point
would make it twenty to thirteen, Georgia Tech in the lead.
Georgia Tech enters with a seven and four record. The
Georgia Bulldogs nine to two Big Ten matchup at Iowa
has now Hawkeyes tied with Nebraska ten ten two minutes

(22:30):
to go and six minutes left third quarter on Fox
TV with Utah leading at UCF thirteen to seven. Today,
Minnesota won at Wisconsin twenty four to seven. San Jose
State at home beat Stanford thirty four to thirty one.
Colorado ranked twenty fifth this week, shut out Oklahoma State
fifty two to zing. Oklahoma State oh to nine, and

(22:51):
Big twelve play Travis Hunter with three touchdown receptions and
an interception on defense. Eleventh ranked Boise State a winner
against Oregon State thirty four to eighteen. Ashton Gent thirty
seven carries two hundred and twenty six yards in a score.
Fourteenth ranked Old Miss beat Mississippi State twenty six to fourteen.
There wasn an NFL game today at Kansas City. The

(23:12):
Chiefs down the Raiders nineteen to seventeen. The Raiders have
lost eight in a row. They're two to ten overall
this year, and the Raiders in the final seconds at
the Chiefs thirty two fumble a snap Kansas City recover
that was essentially it. Las Vegas had missed field goal
attempts from fifty six, fifty five and fifty eight yards
and lost by two, so the Clinton The clinching comes

(23:35):
for the Chiefs a playoff spot for a tenth straight
year now, and Isaiah Pacheco was off injury reserve, got
some time today. Seven carries forty four yards. The Bears
did fire head coach Matt Eberflus. Chicago has lost six
straight games. Thomas Brown was promoted to interim coach, recently
became the offensive coordinator. This is the first time in
Bears franchise history they parted with a head coach mid season.

(23:57):
Ebercluse went fourteen and thirty two. Quarterback for Jacksonville, Trevor
Lawrence is due to return Sunday against Houston. He's missed
two games with a sprained shoulder. We can update the
Georgia extra point is good. It is Georgia Tech twenty
to thirteen at the Bulldogs. Now it's just over eight
minutes to play. In the NBA, Orlando won its fifth
straight game, easily winning at Brooklyn. Minnesota edged the Clippers.

(24:20):
Memphis won its fifth straight, beating New Orleans. Victories for
Atlanta and New York. As for the late games, Thunder
leading in LA against the Lakers late first quarter twenty
six nineteen, and it's the King's late first quarter up
thirty to twenty.

Speaker 4 (24:35):
Three at Portland.

Speaker 3 (24:37):
Already Miami with a win, Piston's got a win. And
in college hoops, these two scores perdue ranked thirteenth beat
number twenty three All Miss to win a tournament championship
in San Diego eighty to seventy eight, and in the
battle for Atlanta's third place game, it went overtime. West
Virginia beat number twenty four Arizona.

Speaker 4 (24:56):
No need for that score, eighty no need, no eighties
rubbing in. Steve, I saw that game. I was the
season's over now for Azea.

Speaker 3 (25:04):
Yeah, normally we say, you know, it's Arizona football, is that?

Speaker 1 (25:09):
But Arizona basketball?

Speaker 3 (25:11):
Are you go the Wildcat?

Speaker 4 (25:12):
Well, right now, this.

Speaker 3 (25:14):
Is Arizona basketball three and four. Back to you.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
Oh thanks a lot of Steve j brun a Husky
to big Vanilla funny, big Vanilla poppy in Well, my man,
Arnie spay hear that steak and G is for Jason
Smith and Mike Harmon.

Speaker 1 (25:26):
Arnie, Let's do this real quick.

Speaker 2 (25:27):
I want to throw one more team at you, but
it's something that Steve had thrown in there.

Speaker 1 (25:31):
I want to touch on real quick.

Speaker 2 (25:33):
A coach I think could be fired and no one's
talking about it, and I want to throw this your way.

Speaker 1 (25:37):
Man.

Speaker 2 (25:37):
It's probably gonna raise your eyebrows because Cincinnati say thanks
Zach Taylor. But we we need something else because we're
kind of wasting Joe Burrow at this point right now
with you.

Speaker 4 (25:47):
Well, if that's the case, then do something about, you know,
getting some people around him. And you shouldn't let Joe
mix them leave. And you didn't give t Higgins.

Speaker 1 (25:56):
The Higgins is gone.

Speaker 2 (25:57):
Higgins is gone, so they're not going to get Miami
needs to sign him.

Speaker 4 (26:02):
Besides, there's nothing you're that you just want to get
rid of a coach where there's gonna be so many openings.
So no, I don't see that as a I'll be
shocked if something like that happens.

Speaker 2 (26:11):
Okay, I want to spin this back to Shader Sanders
because we were just talking about him and Coach Prime
and anybody that knows me and follows and listen. I
love Coach prom I loved him as a player. I
love all his personality. That that that's me. I'm I'm
brashed like that. I you know, I talk my stuff.
I'm confident. I believe in myself. I love people like that.
I've always loved uh Dion Sanders and every decision and

(26:32):
everything he's ever done is it hasn't always been you
know sunshine and rainbows. We know about the Atlanta Braids
incident with the report and throwing the ice chests on
him and stuff like that. And that's because he said
something and his mom was embarrassed when she heard it,
and that, you know, pissed him off or whatever. Carver
he had Tim McCarver exactly, So you know, he's a reporter.

Speaker 4 (26:49):
That's that was. That was like one of the biggest
guys in all of baseball.

Speaker 1 (26:52):
No, I know, I know exactly what he was. I'm sorry.

Speaker 2 (26:54):
I wasn't calling him some report. I just said through
it on a reporter. So I'm very intrigued with this
storyline of whether he could leave Colorado to go coach
his son.

Speaker 1 (27:05):
I just, once again, I just can't.

Speaker 2 (27:07):
It's only you've been there two years and your question
of hey, can you blame the guy for wanting to
go coach and say no, no, you can't blame the
guy for wanting to go coach his son. But you
did just get there last year, and if you leave,
I think there will be a contingency of people that
will say, Okay, well, then how can you trust him as.

Speaker 1 (27:29):
Your NFL coach?

Speaker 2 (27:30):
Let's say shit, door doesn't want to be where in
the city he gets drafted by by year two.

Speaker 1 (27:35):
Or year three, and he wants to be traded.

Speaker 2 (27:37):
And Deon's your head coach, and now Deon's gonna want
to get you know, I just don't think you want
to start to set that present in my opinion. But
I also want to talk about a gentleman by the
name of Travis Hunter. And when you look at the
day that that young man had today, and I think
I asked you this on Saturday, and I'm gonna ask
you again.

Speaker 1 (27:54):
If you look at his day today.

Speaker 2 (27:56):
Ten catches a buck, fourteen touchdowns and another pick.

Speaker 1 (28:02):
It's the best player on.

Speaker 2 (28:04):
The field on both sides of the ball, maybe other
than Jens out of Boise State, in all of college football.

Speaker 1 (28:12):
How in the hell was he not a Thorpe Award finalist?

Speaker 6 (28:17):
Like?

Speaker 1 (28:17):
How and do we have that? Do we have that
Deon Sound? Patrick? Do we get a chance to get
ahold of that that Deon Sound?

Speaker 6 (28:25):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (28:26):
I can actually one segment.

Speaker 2 (28:27):
Okay, whatever you got it, just talk to me in
my air let me know we got it, cause I
do want to play that.

Speaker 1 (28:30):
But Arnie, I just want to kind.

Speaker 2 (28:32):
Of throw this to you, because I've heard people say, well,
maybe because he's playing both ways, we're gonna give it
to a guy that's just strictly a defensive back. Charles
Woodson played both ways. Charles Woodson won the Thorpe Award
like running away. I don't think anybody was close. I
think maybe Antoine Winfield from Ohio State.

Speaker 1 (28:50):
But uh, this is what.

Speaker 2 (28:51):
Dion said about him not getting and making it to
the finalist for the Thorpe Award.

Speaker 6 (28:58):
I think Travis clinch the Heisman with his performance. I
think he made a lot of people aware of how
ignorant that was with the Thorpe. His performance today on
what he had three touchdowns one hundred yards and a
interception and two as is broken up. Should have had
another pick hitting right a durn Chest. I'm not happy

(29:19):
about Dad, but I'm happy with him.

Speaker 1 (29:22):
I'll let you take it, man, go.

Speaker 4 (29:24):
He well, why he was left off, I have no idea.
It has nothing to do with him playing both ways,
because you're right, other people have been nominated before that
it plays both ways. So I'm really not sure why
that happened.

Speaker 1 (29:35):
Bailey was another one that comes to my mind really quick.

Speaker 4 (29:37):
Yeah, so it's really it's kind of ridiculous they left
him off. Probably going to win the Heisman. He's the
best athlete on the field. That doesn't mean I'm still
going to take him with the number two pick. To
be honest with you, I mean I do like him
when it gets to the NFL, though I don't know
exactly how it's going to work out. You know, he's
probably not one of the top two or three vers

(30:00):
receivers in all the college football. He's probably a better back,
which is why I'm surprised. There'll probably be about two
receivers and McMillan, one of them in Arizona might be
drafted out of him, might not. We'll see if he
does go one and two. It depends on how the
draft is gonna work out. There might be a lot
of maneuvering to go ahead and try to be able

(30:20):
to get like one in two or one in three
or one in four. I'm gonna be really curious to
see if if you know, if the same team's gonna
want to be able to try to draft both those kids,
which is gonna be almost impossible. But no, he's a
Heisman candidate. But you said why trustee on he always
spends a couple of years in Jacksonville. He moved on.

(30:41):
Coaches move on all the time. Look what happened late
in the season. Nick Saban gone Washington. Do Bors goes
to Alabama, Fish goes from Arizona to Washington. They gotta
get Brennan from San Jose. It's a trickle down effect
and everything happens late. Players flip all the time. There's
no yeah, yeah, heartening to this thing. You go where

(31:04):
you want, which would give Dion more fulfillment staying in
Colorado with his son gone, or going to coach with
him in New York or Dallas or wherever he's gonna
go and have him as your quarterback.

Speaker 1 (31:16):
I'm not mad at that. As I told you before, Yeah,
I have a son. You have a son.

Speaker 2 (31:21):
Were weird, weird son. Dad's man to the heart and soul.
I know you love your boy. You follow him with
his hockey career. You always speak highly of him. You
guys know when I talk about my son, Cameron aka
Little Tay, my eyelight up. That's my guy, man. My
son's my that's my dog. And I would love to
coach him in T ball. I would love to coach
him in soccer. I would love the coach him in Flag.
I would love to, but it just doesn't always work

(31:43):
out that way, and you can't.

Speaker 1 (31:45):
I don't.

Speaker 2 (31:45):
I don't ever want to be a helicopter dad coaching
high school football, coach of pot warn football. As I've
done being connected to college football, calling college football, covering
the NFL, I've seen every level of football up close
and personal. The worst thing is a helicopter dad. It's
the worst thing. It's it's it's the worst think. It
doesn't do anybody any good. A lot of the times.

Speaker 4 (32:04):
If the draft do him good, though, Look look what
your duers turned into. It was good in Jacksonville, it
was good in Colorado. But the but coach Prime has
not been a helicopter dad. But coach that coach, coach
that different. Coach Dion is a former, is a Hall
of Famer. There's a big difference between being a helicopter
dad and being a Hall of famer.

Speaker 2 (32:25):
I got you, I'm with you. So let's look at this.
If the draft way, if the season just plays out
the way.

Speaker 1 (32:29):
It's going right now, you know, we have the number
one overall pick, the Vegas Raiders.

Speaker 4 (32:34):
Yeah, the Raiders, which again, there's your combination if you
want to go ahead and put it there.

Speaker 2 (32:38):
I mean, that's if it holds up. Though, Okay, and
guess who and and and guess who gets number two?
What the Giants in New York Giants?

Speaker 4 (32:44):
Yeah, and that's another combination.

Speaker 2 (32:46):
And now here's the thing though, now Jack's happen. Jacks
will be fourth. They're not taking a quarterback.

Speaker 1 (32:50):
We know that.

Speaker 2 (32:50):
And then the Patriots are I mean will be third.
The Patriot will be fourth, they're not taking a quarterback.
Carolinas there in Tennessee that those are those are those
are your And then the bum ass Jets are sitting
up there too.

Speaker 1 (33:02):
But Shador is not falling that far. I don't think
cam Ward's falling that far.

Speaker 2 (33:05):
So let's just stick with the Raiders in the g men,
if you're the Raiders, you like the combination of Shador
and Dion going there, I'm fifty to fifty on eight giants.

Speaker 1 (33:14):
Make a whole lot of hell of it says. But
let's flip this to Travis Hunter.

Speaker 2 (33:18):
If you're the Jags, if some way, somehow, let's say
Shador cam go one and two. If you're Jacksonville, you
cannot pass up on Travis Hunter.

Speaker 1 (33:27):
You just can't. He's both sides of the ball. He's
a superstar. He's a football player.

Speaker 2 (33:32):
He is a game changer, he's a difference maker, he's
a game record, he's an explosive guy.

Speaker 1 (33:37):
Like he's every adjective you want.

Speaker 2 (33:40):
A good, too, great football player, exceptional young man to
be is Travis Hunter. If you're the Jags and Travis
Hunter is sitting there at number three, do you take them?

Speaker 5 (33:51):
Uly?

Speaker 4 (33:51):
I even instead of trading the pick.

Speaker 1 (33:54):
Well, they're not gonna trade to pick they need help.

Speaker 4 (33:56):
Well, it depends on if somebody wants to trade it.
Wanted to take a quarterback in cam Warden, how far
would you drop? Would you just drop one spot and
then you could take a Travis Hunter because somebody wants
to take a quarterback. That stuff goes out all the time,
and there may be teams I want to do that.
I mean, ward could be in high demand because remember,
if it's not gonna be deep in quarterback draft, you're

(34:18):
gonna want to move up and get somebody if you
desperately need somebody. So that's always going to be a possibility.
But yes to your question, I take Hunter. I don't
think I trade the pick unless somebody's trying to trade
up and get themselves a quarterback, and all I have
to do is drop one spot, and I feel like
I'm guaranteed for a Hunter. I would do something like that.

Speaker 2 (34:36):
Yeah, not bad man, not bad, good stuff, man, good stuff.
Almost through the first hour, I don't like code. Aren't
he gonna like code? I don't know anybody that likes cold.
When we come back, we're gonna talk about somebody who,
in my opinion, shut up the he can't do something
in the Code narrative.

Speaker 1 (34:54):
All that and coming up VJ.

Speaker 2 (34:55):
Vernon Husky to Big Vanilla Funny and my man, aren't
he spaying at his stinking genius? And tonight for Jason
Smith and his best friend Mike harmon Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (35:23):
On VJ.

Speaker 2 (35:24):
Vernon Husky. He is Arnie Speyer. We are in for
Jason Smith and his best friend Mike Harmon. Hey, man,
this song right here, this right here, This takes me back,
This takes me back.

Speaker 4 (35:37):
This song is dope.

Speaker 1 (35:38):
Yeah, there you go. Talk your stuff, talk your stuff.
I bet you he does.

Speaker 6 (35:43):
Now.

Speaker 1 (35:43):
I know Arnie knows who this is. I know he
knows who is Arnie.

Speaker 4 (35:48):
I think it's the Beatles.

Speaker 1 (35:50):
Come on, VJ.

Speaker 4 (35:51):
You give him too much trade?

Speaker 2 (35:53):
Hey, what can I say? Man, He's one of my
favorite guys to do radio with. Okay, we are actually friends.
Off the air, Arnie and I talk a lot. That's
public Enemy, Fight the Power Baby, come to you off
from the time right dot com Studios and Shermanos, California.
My man, Arnie Spears and Arnie. So you're out there
in the snow. You're out there in the cold. You
had an incident yesterday with getting stuck and just sat
in your car while four other people dug you out.

Speaker 1 (36:14):
Shame on you.

Speaker 2 (36:15):
Actually, I ain't gonna lie. It was pretty pimp, but
I just you should have did it a different way.

Speaker 5 (36:20):
It was.

Speaker 2 (36:21):
I could picture you, Arnie, sitting in your wrangler and
just leaned back and people and four people are shoveling
your lazy ass out of the snow eating freedoms. Iinda
knocked on your window. The chili cheese ones are just
regular freedom. Yeah yeah, no chili trees space. You gotta

(36:41):
do the chili cheese freedoms. But you're out there in
the snow. You like the cold, I don't like the cold.
Patrick the Sweezey says he likes the cold. There's a
narrative that I think ended last night about a certain
quarterback that can't play in the cold.

Speaker 1 (36:51):
Even though the Miami Dolphins did take.

Speaker 2 (36:52):
A loss up at lambeau Field last night, I thought
he played very well. He missed two throws, the fourth
down throw in the red zone on h and he
missed down. There was another Tyreek throw on a on
a medium and cut to uh uh to Tyree Kale
that he missed out. But other than that, no interceptions,
no fumbles, they turn the ball over. He got sacked
five times, and that's because the covers was pretty good.

(37:14):
But in your opinion, now the team lost. But this
idea that Tua can't play in the code, did he
quiet any of that narrative? Do you not team just
Tua tagabayeloa a ka ooh?

Speaker 4 (37:29):
So, first of all, I agree with you. He I
thought he had a really good game, though part of me,
for some reason, I just can't put my finger on it.

Speaker 1 (37:37):
I blame him.

Speaker 4 (37:39):
Partly for the loss also, and I know he didn't,
you know, fumble the part he doesn't play defense. We'll
get to get to that later on. But I thought
he played well. But I as I'm listening to it,
I'm like, we'll see what people are gonna say. Cam
Newton was a g ripping a go that is Joe
arm gets cold and like, what are you talking about?

(38:00):
Didn't he say that? I'm like you, hada, I go.
He had a good game. So I don't know if
the if that really just settled things in people's minds
or not. I thought it was good enough and that
people were gonna lay off him. But a loss is
a loss. But he did look good, yes, at least.

Speaker 1 (38:15):
I thought No. I thought he was fine too, brother,
And listen on Cam real quick. That's my guy.

Speaker 4 (38:19):
Damn where you saw him ripping to her?

Speaker 1 (38:22):
But yeah, I saw that today. But I think that
they and I hate to say it, I'll just keep
it a buck. Cam is over at the Mouse.

Speaker 2 (38:28):
They have narratives there and they've been killing tour for
the last three year, which is funny because when he
was at Bama, it was tank for Tour. Did we
all forget about tank for tur No? Right, right, right,
every tank for Tour, Tank for two. I was on
the other couple filling there for Rob one day with
Chris Bussard, and he was going off on me because
I didn't think. I didn't know Too was gonna be
a Dolphin. I'm like, bro, Jalen Hurt is better. Why

(38:50):
you gotta be crazy?

Speaker 5 (38:51):
V day?

Speaker 1 (38:51):
You acting like.

Speaker 2 (38:53):
Listen, Jalen Hurts is gonna have a better career than
Tua Takabaya law. I said it before he became a Dolphin.
And who's having a better career. Who's been in the
Super Bowl, who's won the division, who's won playoff games?
Jalen Hurts has I was right from the beginning about
that combination. But I thought he played extremely well last
night for a top right defense. That defense was leading

(39:13):
the league in turnovers at one point, Like this defense
is a good team defense. That's a good team twenty
excuse me, thirty seven of forty six, two sixty five
that two sixty five, two touchdowns, sack five times, no fumbles,
no turnovers. I mean he don't run sixty three sixty five.
He do not running the ball now, I want to
do spind this around just really fast. Before we got here,
you mentioned about Mike McDaniel. The only thing I will

(39:34):
say about my menda.

Speaker 1 (39:35):
I like the guy. I do.

Speaker 2 (39:36):
I like him as our head coach. But there is
a lack of toughness with our team in the goal line,
on the goal line, in the red zone, we throw
the ball way too damn much. Put another tackle in there,
bring in a fallback line up your eleven against my leven.
Let's see what's good right here for these twenty four
inches and we're getting in the end zone or you're
just gonna have to stop.

Speaker 4 (39:54):
I know we're short on time. He's a numbers guy,
And I said to you, VJ, I forget what Kate
we were talking about. If you're gonna go four on
fourth thousand, you gotta run it on third down. He
tries to come up with it with the fantasy play. Yeah,
I'm sure we'll get into it next down.

Speaker 6 (40:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (40:06):
Yeah, we know, we definitely will too. Man, we'll get
into a whole lot more. And our first hour gone.
We got some NBA, y'all stick by man VJ. Vernon Husky,
