Speaker 3 (00:46):
What my father has. Really, that man is my sweek bieboy.
I knew you would go back to stop you right,
don't I have a nice rack. Wow, that stopped just
(01:08):
suddenly right there. Hey wait a minute, it's only seven
o'clock on the West Coast. We can't play any more
that you're acting like he's not using those binoculars. Oh. Absolutely,
that's that's quality scouting.
Speaker 1 (01:22):

tirec dot com. I hope you get there. An unmatched

way tire buying should be. You know, the only thing
that I'm upset about is this is a jaw dropping
(01:44):
story that Bill Belichick is going back to coach at
North Carolina. He's got a five year deal taking over.
Speaker 3 (01:51):
I thought you were still alluding to the Bridget Wilson
part of that equation. There, no, no, no, no no.
I had to move on for Bridget Wilson. That's too
much for Jason's brain to a handle money. It's a lot,
It's a it's a lot. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
It's like it's like watching when when Matt Damon's doing
that equation in uh in Goodwill hunting. It's like, well,
what is That's to too much? Woman can't do it,
can't do it? But you want to?
Speaker 3 (02:15):
I want to. You aspired that level of greatness I did,
either Bridget will or solving the equation what is pie? Actually? Okay? Great?
See we converged on that.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
That reminds me, you want to A great joke I
heard the other day this, hey, so guy dies, he
winds up going to hell.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
It's very upset. That's very upset. He goes to Hell.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
The Devil meets him, says, hey, I want to make
you sure. I take you through Hell. He goes, great,
I didn't make it heavy, he says, no, thing's final.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
You'll love it.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
Oh really yeah, yeah yeah yeah. Here, why don't let
you know. Here's your tablet. Everybody gets a tablet when
they come to Hell. Oh okay, it's not bad, and
you have access to everything anywhere you want to go,
find the fine, find out what's going on on and
up on Earth and everything else.
Speaker 3 (02:56):
It's great. Oh that's awesome. Probably no Wi Fi though,
because it's Hell. No, no, no, no, no, we got
Wi Fi here. It's great. Oh what's the password? Devil
says pie? I like that. I like that joke. Yeah,
other people don't do like that.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
Well, if people have to go to school and understand Pie,
you know, Pie is infinite. It just keeps going, so
you never world. You're never gonna get the Wi Fi.
You never get Pie. You're never gonna get the WiFi.
Not gonna happen, just like the Knick's never gonna beat
the Hawks. But Bill Belichick is the head coach in
North Carolina, and I mean it the number one thing.
The only thing I'm upset about. This is an amazing story,
(03:35):
you know what i'pset about. All the jokes have been.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
Gone for like three days. Oh yeah, as soon as
it's it's here's Belichick looking at sorority row. Here's Belichick,
you know, trying to to communicate with young people. Here's
Belichick trying to sell himself to young people. All the jokes,
I mean, all the jokes, they're all gone. They're all gone.
They're all gone.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
I mean I did like Frostburg's one that he said
about with with uh, with Jeff Riches and Jan Goodman
saying here's when they're in Larry's home trying to recruit him,
this is your homework, Larry.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
But all the jokes are gone, and I feel like,
I don't know, it's weird. I feel like it's I'm
like awkward and unhit making them because they've all been
made already. It's all look at this all look at them.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
I'm just gonna be somebody else saying it on there
like this is a joke that's been gone now for
like a long time. I mean, it's not like it's
going anywhere, but I feel like, well, you gotta get
in the beginning of that or you just have to.
Speaker 3 (04:24):
Let it ride out and do its own thing. Yeah,
I mean, unless you're just outside of the normal windows
of all the voices and faces of sports talk radio
and television. If you were, you know, an outlier, you know,
and and not represented. You know, because a couple of
women that spoke today suddenly that joke was like Monday,
(04:45):
but they got credit like it was a brand new one.
It's like, all right, yeah, all right, you got push.
That was good. That's good. All right, It's like we
did that one. Everybody did that. I want the jokes
to be there, and they're now we got to make
jokes about the first week and this season. Look, I
feel feel good. That did. You to move right ahead.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
What we come up with on a nightly basis is
pretty good, and you know, you see in the next
day obviously, like that's why we're ahead of the curve.
But but certain things like this, it's like, oh man,
like it's it's it's already gone, like everything is already gone.
Speaker 3 (05:12):
No, it's it's too bad though, right, I mean because
it's had a week though, but I mean day, but
it had a full week to jest date, like it
didn't just pop on the radar, like this was rumored.
We go back a full week in terms of our calendar, right,
I mean we go back to either last Wednesday, last
Thursday when this first started kind of pop it out
of the weeds, a little bit of maybe possibly, what
(05:34):
do you think let's uh lick the finger, hold our
you know, hold it up and see which way the
wind's blowing. All this, so all those jokes started running
at me, and I've actually already been done because he
was dating there. They've been and they've been done twice
now because people are coming back to it. I mean,
I need the comedy, and it's like I feel like
I just gotta just watch us go and come up
(05:55):
with new comedy. But we do have audio of Bill
Belichick for the first time outside his house from five
minutes ago.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
Oh yeah, okay, this is audio. You're only gonna he's
radio so am I?
Speaker 3 (06:07):
But no, why not?
Speaker 1 (06:08):
Yeah, let's let's let's ride the lightning, let's shave with
the knife. Uh, this is him outside his house five
minutes ago, like reacting becoming the next head coach, the
great most winningest head coach in NFL history now here
he is coaching in North Carolina outside his house five
minutes ago.
Speaker 4 (06:25):
Oh, back to his cool, back to his cool.
Speaker 3 (06:29):
To prove too, daddad, I'm not a fool. I got
my nonchoe packed up, my boots tied tight.
Speaker 4 (06:39):
I hold fight, don't kids in a fight.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
So there he is five minutes ago. That's pretty good. No,
I got a dog that. He was pretty good. I
like that he can rhyme. I didn't know. I didn't
know Belichick. I mean, he's been real happy on he
was more excited than Mike. Yeah, uh probably, yeah, a
little bit it was wrong. Yeah, well just we talked
about it a little bit yesterday and spiked it like
it was already done. So now it was just a
(07:05):
devil in the details, that's all. It's like, Hey, it's
it's new, but it's not new. I've heard.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
I mean, I just want once after an upset loss
next season, when he gets upset and there at and
he just says, we're onto Syracuse, No, we're there?
Speaker 3 (07:22):
Is that make me want to revisit Billy Madison. We're
on to Syracuse. We're on a Syracuse. I don't really
care about that, but Bill.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
You you you you went for it on fourth down
and thirty from your own ten on a three to
three game with two minutes left in the game.
Speaker 3 (07:37):
Yeah, we're on the We're on a Syracuse. We're ont Syracuse.
We're as it is inevitable, right, we're onto Syracuse. Or
just announcing casually some guy has entered the portal. At
that moment, it's not about that game anymore. It's onto
the business of football going forward. You know, look, sometimes
the the initial reaction is the one that stays through story. Like,
(08:00):
sometimes there's initial reaction to a story and it weaves
and it gets different and there's different angles to it,
and sometimes a story breaks. You know, hey, this first
reaction is gonna be wow, the reaction all the way through.
And while this is a great move for.
Speaker 1 (08:14):
North Carolina, he wants to get back into coaching all
of this, I can't help but be just so embarrassed
for the guy. This is the best head coach that
we have seen in NFL history right now. I know
Bill Walsh, hey coach the forty nine ers, went back
to coach at Stanford, didn't do very well, but you
know we've seen it before. But this is a guy,
This guy won unlike anybody else in the history of
(08:37):
the game.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
And what did he do? I thought it was embarrassing enough.
Speaker 1 (08:41):
He's got to hang out with Pat McAfee all all
year and put smile like he pretends to enjoy talking
to him. I gotta talk to a punter. It's not
even Johnny Hecker. I don't even know. Why do I
want to talk.
Speaker 3 (08:51):
But he did celebrate special teams unlike any other It's
enough that he's got to do that, and I have
to sit here and smile and put on a face
and show people that, hey, I'm not this real doom
and gloom guy.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
I still have my fastball and I can still be
a coach. It was embarrassing enough that a guy that
never wanted to talk to the media, here he is
doing zoom calls and he's on McAfee's show and ever,
and it's like that was embarrassing enough for him. But
now here he is not even dropping down that, Hey.
Speaker 3 (09:18):
I'm gonna go coach Florida, or I'm gonna go coach Texas,
or I'm gonna go coach Michigan. No, I'm going to
coach North Carolina. And I get that his dad was
an assistant there, you know, a long time ago. But
this is a stunning fall that this is, this is
how he's got to continue his coaching career. It's North Carolina,
like I mean, it's a great move for them, and
(09:39):
he's it's just a guy like that, Like, I don't
know how that happens. I don't know how you go
from I'm winning at the highest level. And yes, he
probably did have to do things a little bit differently
towards the end because people remember the end and if
he wanted to keep going on and coaching in the NFL,
but not only did nobody want to hire him in
the NFL, like this is like this is a mid
(10:00):
college football program. North Carolina is a mid program. If
he wanted a coach where Drake May was, he would
find a way to stay and go back at Drake
May came out of North Carolina. I mean, this is
it really is.
Speaker 1 (10:11):
It's shocking that this is like a free fall for Belichick,
where a year ago at this time, it was Hey,
Belichick's near it time is nearing an end in New
England and we all know it. It's time for him
to go somewhere else Where's he gonna go, who's gonna hire.
I'm sure the Cowboys will look at him, the Falcons,
all these all these teams wanted to talk to him,
and he went over the offseason.
Speaker 3 (10:31):
Over over two interviews with the Falcons. They hired Rehee Morris.
Two interviews with the Falcons. They hired Raheem Morris. And
here's Belichick. Now, Hey, I'm gonna go coach in North Carolina.
And of course they're letting him do whatever he wants.
He's the best head coach you've seen in NFL history.
Imagine the taping of the places it's gonna happen. But
I still look at this and I go, this is
he's coming down to coach North Carolina in football, non basketball.
(10:55):
Basketball will be a thing. Hey, here he is.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
He's gonna try his hand a basketball at North Carolina,
blue blood program. That's fan, that's or whatever else sessonal titles.
Speaker 3 (11:02):
Hey, he's good. He's gonna do both. He's gonna do both.
Not yeah, North Carolina.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
This is where a Bill But in a year, this
is where Bill Belichick has fallen to in a year,
this is where he is.
Speaker 3 (11:12):
Oh, the world moves on pretty fast. His age probably
does not help the process. The history that he had
the last three to four years with the Patriots, Sure
as hell is in helping the process because you're going
through and if you're an NFL team, are you seating?
Like if you're an existing GM, are you seeding power
(11:34):
to him? Does the owner want to do that? Hey,
you know what We're gonna hire Bill? Well, what do
I do? You're gonna be like Ryan Poles. You gonna
have no responsibility here? See what I did there? Yeah,
you're an empty suit, just like just like over in Chicago.
But like, who's signing up for that?
Speaker 4 (11:53):
Right?
Speaker 3 (11:54):
And moving forward? We watched all the debacles of the
the administration of his coordinators, and dude Russell once he
actually got on the field, he actually really coached him
up above expectations because the team they assembled was not good,
(12:14):
devoid of top not skill positions. So that's gonna be
the curiosity, right. He hires Lombardy, Like that's the story
that's going around, right, So while he may not be
able to get along with Woody Johnson, he gets along
with someone that worked for the Jets. So that's good.
And now they'll move into this next phase with the
GM in place, and in theory a huge administration, as
(12:36):
we surmise they might the last few days as this
started coming together, that the infrastructure is gonna be fascinating
to watch as to how much of its CEO figurehead
he is versus the activity. But make no mistake about it.
I mean we're all intrigued. Three years thirty nine. Hey,
as you always say, it's great for us. Great, it's
(12:57):
great for us, It's awesome, and it can't be any
worse for North Caro. But dude, that's the thing in it.
I can't feel bad for him. The dude took a
bunch of jobs. He might be like Jike Carrey returning
to Sony this is he said, I bought a bunch
of crap and I needed the money.
Speaker 1 (13:09):
How did Jim Carrey, who has been acting in Hollywood
for thirty five years now has made all kinds of money?
Yes said yesterday, I took the job in Sonic three
because I need a cash.
Speaker 3 (13:19):
Dude, how do you need money? After all? Then? What
have you done? Can't question folks liquidity. Maybe they got
into some bad investments, loan money to friends or family,
had a crook as a business manager that siphoned some
stuff off like it was the uh the wall at Shawshank.
I made all of that to say, I don't know
a man's finances. I don't pretend to know the wall.
(13:41):
It's just it's just embarrassing. I can't buy stunning this
fall in a year from the heights of the NFL
to I'm coaching a mid power five program. That's really
I don't know that I'm ever going to get past
the stunning nature of this development.
Speaker 1 (13:58):
But if he wins, it's like Brady and Tampa O exit.
How about a Fresco exit swollen Dome. The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Carbon Live from the tire rack dot
Com Studios. We'll have more on this incredible story because
I don't know people are ready just how big a
deal this is that here's the best coach in the
history of the game. Say yeah, after a year, nobody
wants me, so I'm going to coach in college.
Speaker 3 (14:18):
We'll have more on that. Plus he hates the media.
Yeah another speaking of hate, there's no you know what
we're gonna do that We're gonna I'm just gonna say,
coming up next speaking, we're gonna eat, We're gonna talk
about a player I am not very fond of who
had a very big night tonight. Oh that's that's next
(14:38):
Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (14:42):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
Starting with the music early tonight, Ty Shirt, Huh all right,
I'm starting us off the right way.
Speaker 3 (14:57):
Okay, you know what? You know what?
Speaker 1 (15:00):
How have you not found a holiday? Holiday? Holiday version
of something? Tears for Fears? Haven't done any holiday songs?
Speaker 3 (15:07):
I have found some, but I haven't played it. Why
haven't you played? I like it. I want you to
not like it.
Speaker 1 (15:12):
As long as we get to hear Belichick to have
yourself a merry little Christmas tonight.
Speaker 3 (15:17):
We need that tonight. See how you've asked for it? No,
but we got that's gonna happen. We got, we gotta
have it. But now he's got other things to concern
himself with, other than singing have yourself a merry little
Christmas for us Christmas, He's got other stuff to consider.
Speaker 1 (15:32):
The Jason Smith Show with the Mike Carmon live from
the tirac dot Com studios, Happy Wednesday, as we get
set for Week fifteen in the NFL tomorrow and Bill
Belichick is now a head coach again.
Speaker 3 (15:42):
But before we get back into him, you know, it's
not that how do I say this, It's not that
he's not motivated to play in other games. It's not
that his production drops a lot in other games. But boy,
(16:04):
if Trey Young was as fired up to play every
game like he was was to play the Knicks, maybe
the Atlanta Hawks would have won something in the last
few years. Look at you? Is THEO is fired up?
Speaker 4 (16:15):
Man?
Speaker 3 (16:15):
Look I'll live through Trey Young. It's it's it's a
generation later. Forget Trey Young with a Hartenstein had a
big night to night too. It's that's fine. Now, Look
everything is fine.
Speaker 1 (16:26):
This is the semi owns you. Yeah, Caliburton, he was terrible.
I still see that hard three where he just throws
it up and closes his eyes.
Speaker 3 (16:35):
Please go in for me. That's Olympian uh a A
A big night for Trey Young, a double double and
has some fun on the court at the end, kind
of throws dice at the Knicks logo dribbling the ball
on the logo, dribbling the time out as the Hawks
beat the next night to move they move on to
the finals.
Speaker 1 (16:55):
Well, everybody's walking off the court at the time. He
was like, Yeah, it's my time on the court.
Speaker 3 (16:58):
Did he get ta pepper spring? But I would assume
that the next time he goes into the lane. I
think Big Modega is gonna have a little something. I
don't think any of your guys are to do it.
Would have to rotate on a defense to make that out. Oh,
you just have one time. Just rotate one time. He's
gonna get this. Rotate one. He's gonna get there once.
But I don't do that. Just just do it one time.
(17:19):
Then you want to do it again, Jason, where were
your tough guys when Trey Young rolled dice on the
next logo? I know, right like I I I he
definitely took the right time to do it. Oh, hey,
it's just us out here now, I'm gonna roll dice
on the logo and dribble on where you get a
full WWE entrance. Yeah, but he's got it back. He
basically put his eggs in your face. He did.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
Now he did, i'ld say basically he did so okay now,
but he didn't do it at the end. He didn't
do it while everybody was standing right. He didn't do
it in front of Jalen Brunton like he made sure
he did. Oh, I got my guys here, everybody else
is off the floor. I'm doing this. Uh yeah, you can't.
Speaker 3 (17:55):
Think he calculated it that much. Yeah, someone on your
squad was suddenly gonna play tough guy. Uh yeah. Are
there any ex Knicks from the nineties in attendance that
might have actually taken a well exception to it.
Speaker 1 (18:08):
And Charles Oakley would actually have gone into the uh
on onto the court, but he's banned and he can't
go there. Uh there in Spiritpike Lee, I think still
had problems getting in whatever, and Trincy was supposed to
Nobody told me he couldn't do it. But look like
I said, it's it's twenty years later. It's Reggie Miller.
He loves playing in the garden, right, he loves playing
the Knicks. Dude, if you were as motivated like this
(18:29):
to beat every other team like you beat the Knicks,
maybe you would have won something in your career.
Speaker 3 (18:33):
Right. This is not me being bitter nug a little.
Speaker 1 (18:36):
Bit of it, but just Sarah when whenever I see
someone who who shows out against a specific team for
whatever reason. Right, he loves controlling the Knicks fans. Hey,
I hope you all have a great trip home, happy holidays,
all this stuff. He likes doing all that. I get it,
and I understand that. But but why can't you be
that good? Why can't you be that motivated to win
(18:56):
other games that are big deals?
Speaker 3 (18:57):
That's good? I mean he was eight of twenty two,
y like he was the superstar. DeAndre Hunter should have
been the guy handed the twenty four off the bench.
But he looks up Frey Young's leading the league and
assists and eleven more tonight. Yeah, no question about it.
But it's just like the conversation we were having with
the METSA and the Yankees. You seemed more excited about
(19:20):
saying blank you to Yankees fans were mad at you
than you were excited about Sodo showing up. I was
almost as excited. Almost. No, No, I could go back
and play the almost I say, I said, you said,
you said almost. You can say what you want. I saw.
You can't just change what I said and say that
you were more excited about sticking it to wall that
(19:42):
you were about Sodo showing, not more not more so,
I said almost as much, almost like but it was close,
but almost as much. He said.
Speaker 1 (19:51):
I gotta remember, we get him on the field and
all of a sudden, you know, hey, look at us.
We're going to the World Series. But I remember that.
But still the meltdown part is fun because it is fun.
See in the in the day leading up to Wan
Soda is, Oh my goodness, where's he gonna go? The
Sodo sweepstakes? Who's gonna get the greatest prize in baseball history?
Not named Otani? Who's gonna get this guy? The Mets
got him, and it's all they overpaid and they shouldn't
(20:13):
have done this. And now there, who are they gonna
get elsewhere? The Yankees are better off without him everything.
If the Yankees had got him, or the Dodgers had
got him, or the Red Sox had got him, it
would have been glowing. Look at these great traditional franchises,
and how good they how good a move they did
getting won Soda. Now the Yankees can compete for the
next fifteen years. The Dodgers are unbeatable. The Red Sox
bought themselves back into relevancy. But the Mets are all
(20:36):
They spend too much money, and I don't know if
they're gonna build a winning team.
Speaker 3 (20:39):
You still gotta beat the Dodge, No pete. The Mets
are a target, and that's why I say that ain't
happening no more, Right, that not happened anymore. I like
the way you said, mad and I'm in bad English
now not the band with John Waite was the lead
singer for when I See You Smile guys, but bad English,
like not good, not good modern English, not I Melt
with You, which is another band from the eighties.
Speaker 1 (21:00):
But it's it's it's done now, it's done. But the
Mets have been such a target and such an easy
team to make fun of for the longest time. Oh yeah,
the Mets got him and they don't. Nobody wants to
say anything good about me thought with that, so it's
let me just bash it and say it's bad now,
when when all we did was say how great it
was leading up to it, all it but now all
but look, I didn't like the result because I would
have liked the Yankees or the Dodgers or the Red SOX, Oh, yes,
(21:22):
and no, I'm gonna say I'm gon bash the Mets
forget them.
Speaker 3 (21:24):
Yeah, look where he went. We been hearing that that
they were gonna outbid anybody. So the fact that that
actually happened, I'm like, ah, that sucks. Not that it
I wish ill against the Mets or anything else, but
it was more the that's what we'd been hearing. Anybody
else could outbet him. You're right, no, no, no, but
that was the point, was not but it was they
(21:47):
were gonna go fifty million more than anybody else. So
it was kind of like, Eh, that's exactly what happened.
That's not exciting.
Speaker 1 (21:53):
But Yankees could have done that. Yeah, the Yankees couldn't said, Oh,
it's too rich for our blood. We're not gonna do it.
We're gonna go fifty million over what you want to
pay you.
Speaker 3 (22:00):
That's what they did. They went fifty million over for
what Max Freed was supposed This is so they still
went fifty over, and they just pivoted to the next guy.
Speaker 1 (22:08):
This is This is like that phone call in Moneyball
he met back when it was a lot of money.
When Billy gets a phone call from Scott Boris and
he tells him, Johnny Damon, we had a deal at
seven and a half. He goes, we did have a
deal until the Red Sox went went up. So he's
yours for eight million. Yeah, and he goes, no, you
played me, You got him blanket. He hangs up the phone,
(22:28):
like that would have been what it was.
Speaker 3 (22:29):
Yeah, we had a deal in seven sixty five, but
the Yankees are going seven ninety five, all right, the
Mets are gonna go this like and the other teams
could have done that. Other teams could have done that.
I mean really they could have. I won a five
hundred thousand dollars value. Okay, yeah, but just my point
being that leading up into the opening of the owners meetings,
it was the Mets will outspend and wan Sota will
be a Met. So it's like a third act of
(22:51):
a movie where it's like, all right, you can see
how this is gonna end. Just how are we getting there?
You know, here's here's isn't gonna suck? Yeah, before he
get resolution.
Speaker 1 (23:00):
You mentioned the suite, right being the thing like the
Mets gave him a sweet for his family?
Speaker 3 (23:04):
How real versus you know, imaginary?
Speaker 1 (23:07):
All this five hundred thousand dollars value. Right, And the
Yankees wouldn't do it. They wanted to give him. They
wanted to kill We'll take money off. What do you
give be a discount on the sweat? Right, you get
a discount judge and judge bottle of water? Is it
gonna be five fifty? It'll be judg And Jeter didn't
get him. And I'm like, okay. And there's two takeaways
from this. Is that one the Yankees. You have to understand,
(23:27):
this is what modern players want.
Speaker 3 (23:29):
It's a different It's it's I know that you want
to run just three years ago, but that it's the
players want stuff now, right, players want stuff. So you can't, Oh,
we wouldn't do it for Jeter? What if Jeter? What
do you care about what Jeter did? Jeter's gone, he's
been retired. What the hell do you care about Jeter?
Speaker 4 (23:44):
For?
Speaker 3 (23:44):
Oh, Jeter never got a sweet But here's the here's
the thing is that that that was such a big
deal for soda, right, That's that seem to be one
of the things that put the Mets over the top,
was that the Mets would do this for him because
he could have gotten similar money from anywhere. But the
Mets said, we're gonna do this for him, and it's
an no brainer.
Speaker 1 (24:00):
Do it for him. You want him to come play.
I don't think Judge cares if he's got a sweet
or not. I don't give a crap.
Speaker 3 (24:06):
It's the it's the principle of the you're gonna give
me all this stuff. I'm just gonna ask for something frivolous, right,
It's it's it's the concert writer for a band, dude.
Here's the fifty things that are listed on the sheet.
It's just are you showing me the respect of reading
through it? Not that you actually have to do it all,
but if there's something that probably requires a little bit
(24:27):
of point of clarification that you've read into it enough
that you asked the question. But I also asked this.
Did the Yankees? Were they on the hook for all
the baskets that were given from Jeter to ladies? Through
these I think he got did they cover the costs?
So I think while it might not have been a sweet,
it was pretty sweet. And then Jen then Jeter gave
(24:49):
him Stanton back when Hey, I'm still working for you
when I'm running the Marlins. Okay, I know I got
fired from that.
Speaker 1 (24:54):
That still, well, look here, because here's the thing, you know,
what they're reminded me of is that this is a
great story. All right, let's go so the whole, the
whole Sodo met the whole soda with the sweet like
what you would do to make a deal happen Like
it's a no brainer in the Yankees blew it. When
I was in college, I was doing a remote show
from a car dealership. I think I was a junior
(25:14):
senior in college, right, and we were doing.
Speaker 3 (25:16):
I remember, I remember the money booths and everything.
Speaker 1 (25:20):
We were doing a Saturday road show from there because
we were kicking off a contest. We were giving away
a car, and this is a dealership that was given
the car away. Right, So we get there, we're doing
the show all day and everything else, and then uh
and the guy that run that ran the car dealership
comes over and says, hey, man, hell of a day.
Yeah great, everything great? He said, how was everything good
with you? He goes, man, I had the we had
(25:40):
the weirdest car sale today. I said, what happened? He goes,
A woman came in to buy a car. It was
like a I figure, it was like a Nissan or
something else. I forget she was. A woman comes in
to buy the car. This is a car now, picture
the the the lobby of a car dealership, right, this
lobby of car dealership. So this woman comes in, you know,
sees the car, loves it, test drives, it comes back
and she says, I'll take it, but you gotta throw
(26:01):
in that plant over there. And it was just a
plant like with some like palm tree whatever it was.
And and and the guy said really, he said yeah.
And and so they went in to tell this guy,
Sam was in the guy's name, who was the who
ran the car dealership. He comes in and he tells him, Hey,
the woman said she's gonna buy the carpet.
Speaker 3 (26:19):
We gotta give her that plant. He goes, really, yeah,
He goes, put the plant in the car. What do
you do? What you're talking about it? Question?
Speaker 1 (26:27):
So they put the plant in the car, and it
was had a sunroof, and it was a big plant
like it was like probably about like eight or ten
feet I.
Speaker 3 (26:33):
So she drove out with the plant through through the
sun roof. She bought the car. I'll buy the carpet.
You gotta give me that plant. Okay, what does he care.
I'm giving you a plant. I just sold a car
for twenty five thousand dollars. But yep, I had to
give you a plant. Yes, I'll give you a plant
to sell a car. This is oh you want to
you want seven We're gonna give you seven hundred and
sixty five million dollars. Yes, and you just want five
(26:55):
hundred thousand dollars sweet? Yeah, yeah, what is it? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (27:02):
The Yankees just absolutely they fell on their face with
this and they got caught. And I don't know that
they really ever really wanted to get him as much
as they wanted to keep him away from the Red
Sox and keep him away from the Mets if it
was at all possible. Yeah, but they never went all
in like they really wanted him, like, if you know, hey,
we really need one Soto, don't guys like Aaron Judge
(27:24):
call him and say, hey, check in, don't the stars
call in? Don't don't they do that instead of saying, hey,
he knows we love him, and hey he knows where
we are.
Speaker 3 (27:31):
Don't you do that if you really want the guy,
of course you do. Some of it's the devil in
the details, right things like the tree and plants and
whatever else in this case is sweet the ride or whatever.
But also you know what you're dealing with. It's Scott Morris,
So I'm gonna guess for a bunch of those players,
Like there's nothing I can tell this guy. Yeah, I
(27:52):
can't wash him up. I can't say, hey, you know what,
we've got a great corner booth that's always on call
at this great restaurant or whatever the case is, bottle service,
there is always just you know, tell him to use
my name and put it on my account, like none
of that matters, like they know, oh it's Boris. Yeah,
it's just gonna be whatever the extra numbers are at
(28:14):
the back end of the commas. That's really all it is.
Speaker 1 (28:18):
Exit out about a Fresca exit swelling down the Jason
Smith Show with my car. But it just got just
to understand that's what it was. To get the guy,
just give him the plant. I remember he was like,
you get to put the plant in the car, just.
Speaker 3 (28:31):
Want the other one too, He said, you should have
seen that we had two sales guys trying to get
the plant in the car. So it wouldn't you get
dirt everywhere especially if he just watered it. I'm like,
I'm like, how did I miss that? How did I
miss that? Unbelievable? Uh time?
Speaker 1 (28:45):
How to find out what's trending in the wide world
of sports from someone who put all her paycheck this
month on Kawhi Leonard coming back before Christmas?
Speaker 5 (28:55):
Right, Look, Jason can actually borrow money now that.
Speaker 3 (28:58):
You Yeah, what do you need? How?
Speaker 5 (29:00):
Just just a couple thousands so I could buy some
Christmas grest a couple of thousand?
Speaker 3 (29:04):
Yeah, holidays? Wait a minute, how big is your family?
Need a couple of thousand dollars?
Speaker 5 (29:10):
It's not also presents I want to buy myself, so
you know, it's like a mixture.
Speaker 3 (29:13):
Of things.
Speaker 5 (29:17):
For me.
Speaker 3 (29:17):
Yeah, yeah, so you shop like I do. I'm saying,
sling shot to hit you in the face. I mean,
I could be a Bart Simpson.
Speaker 2 (29:26):
We're not.
Speaker 3 (29:27):
Why Why is that prosper And I took it easy
on you. I went sling shot. Shot could have gone
way worse. Man, it's fair slingshot.
Speaker 5 (29:35):
I wonder if you would get fined in the in
the NFL with the slingshot gesture.
Speaker 3 (29:40):
You No, I think you might be okay, I don't know.
I think I think some folks might be offended by
the gesture though, thinking you're something something else. Yeah, yeah,
you're right, you're right. There's a retelling of the Bible fables, David,
and we're re enacting that in the end zone.
Speaker 5 (29:57):
That's where we are re enacting in the We should
try that to see what happens. We have NBA Cup
quarterfinals going on right now if you care. The Rockets
are beating the Warriors forty to twenty six with four
minutes to go in the first half. The winner of
this will head to the semifinals to face OKAC. While
the Hawks came back to defeat the Knicks one o
(30:17):
eight to one hundred. Trey Young led the way with
twenty two points eleven rebounds. The Big Bodega Karl Anthony
Towns had nineteen points and nineteen rebounds in a losing effort.
Atlanta heads onto the semi finals, where they will face
the Milwaukee Bucks. In College Hoops number five, Kentucky defeated
Colegates seventy eight to sixty seven. While NCUBA President Charlie
(30:38):
Baker says that they're having productive talks on expanding the
ncublea basketball tournament from sixty eight schools to seventy two
or even seventy six teams. The changes could be made
in time for the twenty twenty six n C Double
A Tournament. The big story today is that Bill Belichick
will be the new head football coach at the University
of North Carolina.
Speaker 3 (30:57):
Reportedly it's a five.
Speaker 5 (30:58):
Year deal, but at all needs to be approved by
the Board of trustees tomorrow, so we'll get the final
say they're in college, No, I said college troops. Sorry
that in the NFL. The forty nine Ers will be
without left tackle Trent Williams tomorrow against the Rams, running
back Isaac Grendo and defensive end Nick Bosa. They were
limited at practice and they are questionable. But Giants quarterback
(31:21):
Tommy DeVito he's in line to start against the Ravens
as Drew Locke is dealing with a foot injury.
Speaker 3 (31:26):
Back to you, guys, thank you very much.
Speaker 1 (31:29):
The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmen live from the
tire Rag dot Com studios. We'll have more than Bill
Belichick to North Carolina story coming up in a bit,
but straight ahead.
Speaker 3 (31:37):
Coming for the Cues.
Speaker 1 (31:38):
The biggest story in football the last week now could
potentially be a felony happens again. Aaron Rodgers is not
involved in this story because I know droones else you
have no idea. No, no, this is something he's going
to Yes this If this happens again, it could literally
(32:00):
be a felony. Is this the CEO thing that? No, No,
it's not that enough.
Speaker 3 (32:04):
This is watching the jet skin. That's that that is true.
Speaker 1 (32:06):
No, No, that's that's that's inflicting punishment on yourself.
Speaker 3 (32:09):
That that's what it is. That's coming up next. Radio
Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (32:14):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific, Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (32:23):
The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon live from the
tire Rack dot Com Studios. More and Bill Belichick coming
up in a few minutes. But well, today he was
named the head coach.
Speaker 3 (32:33):
That was yesterday.
Speaker 1 (32:36):
Today he was named the head coach today, just a
few hours ago.
Speaker 3 (32:41):
No, he's just bocking me because we did a lot
of discussion as this was swirling frostburgets. He's mad at me.
Speaker 1 (32:50):
If you're mocking Harmon, you got to give me some
kind of signs, so I know that. Oh no, it's
completely You give me some.
Speaker 3 (32:58):
Cross man. Let's just you know what that that really
still hurts. Okay, that is fresh. That is a fresh wound.
It was obvious, and it was we knew it was coming.
It was inevitable. Just a matter of whom DJ. Some
people needle point, some people latch hook. The Red Sox
decided to crochet their way to another picture. DJ, the
(33:23):
big Harven is going to throw a pen at me
right there. I deserve that one.
Speaker 1 (33:30):
Look, the big story in college football coming off of
the last couple of weeks has been planting a flag,
planting a flag in the field and all the the
controversy that it caused, whether it was Michigan, Ohio State,
you know it. Look, five separate games a week ago
had this happen and became a very big thing. And
now today Josh Williams, who is a representative from Ohio State,
(33:53):
and I keep thinking, Josh Williams NBA, when did he
play two thousands early? Josh Williams introduced a bill on
Tuesday that would classify flag planting at Ohio Stadium around
Buckeye's football games. Okay, so this means if you try
to plant the flag in the middle and no one's
trying to plant the flag to get it into the turf,
(34:15):
they're planting it like, hey, we're pretending to plant it.
Obviously you're not going to plant the flag, right.
Speaker 4 (34:20):
Hey.
Speaker 3 (34:20):
If they're able to pull that off, that means you've
hadded like a little rotary kind of drill at the
bottom all the way down. Josh Williams introduced the bill
yesterday that would classify planting a flag at Ohio Stadium
(34:40):
around Buckeyes football games as a felony. It's a fun
So you win the game, you try to plant your
flag at midfield, the cops throw you down. They they
they hit you with pepper spray, which we'll get into.
They hit you with pepper spray and take you away
and go This is a felonious act and you could
wind up being put in prison six to twelve months
(35:02):
and up to twenty five hundred dollars fine and five
years probation. If you win a football game and you
try to plant the flag at midfield, it's a felony.
I'd like to go through the other statutes in the
state of Ohio to see what is similar in terms
of sentencing. There's no station months. By the way, when
is this guy up for reelection? That was the first
(35:23):
thought I had. H'm like, oh you grand stand in sun.
Well you got a grand said when you can. Of course,
you can't get away a little bit of peacocky. Look,
I'm I'm a man of the people.
Speaker 1 (35:31):
How much this tell you how pissed is Ohio State
still at losing that game to Michigan.
Speaker 3 (35:37):
I mean they're in the playoff. They're in the playoff, right, Michigan.
Ohio State would easily understand that you want to beat
your rival. I understand, I understand a bit. I'm an
inside the Michigan Ohio State robery for thirty years. You
ask every Michigan fan, Hey, would you rather lose to
Ohio State and make the playoff or beat Ohio State
make the playoff? At this point, understanding what college football is,
(35:58):
we can win a championship in the playoff, right, But
Ohios de fan seems like they could win the national
title and they wouldn't be happy. They wouldn't be happy
because we lost to Michigan. And yes, it was an
embarrassing loss. Because I don't know when you're gonna beat Michigan.
If you didn't beat them, now they had no quarterback,
their two best defensive players weren't playing.
Speaker 1 (36:14):
Both of them were going to the NFL. They announce
in the last couple of days. This was when you
beat Michigan and they couldn't. But this shows you just
how much it is still rankling them. They're still royaled
by it.
Speaker 3 (36:25):
Where here's I'm going to introduce that this is going
to be a felony if you try to plant the
flag in the middle of Ohio Stadium. This is a
college football thing that happens that would have been taken
care of on the field. What I think you should
say instead of this, you really want to be a
really good representative and do something, say hey, let's really
look into the fact that kids were sprayed with pepper spray.
(36:48):
Nobody else is sprayed with pepper spray. But here comes
please from what both sides and are spraying kids with
pepper spray? Like, how about we look at that and
that's the most important. How was that kick to the
side where planting the flag is the most important thing?
Because yeah, I get it, but that's happened before. There's
gonna be dancing on logos and you break it up,
and that's how it goes. The coach is getting to
(37:09):
break it up, their officials getting to break it up.
Speaker 1 (37:10):
But no, no, no, pepper spray is used by police
because maybe where the Ohio State Police mad Ohio State
lost the game, Michigan police mad that this is happening
to them on the field, like I don't I don't
know what happened. But that's what's got to get looked
into and not just oh, yeah, we're looking into the
fact the use of pepper spray. Kids playing football that
we're celebrating a win got pepper spray, not that Hey,
(37:31):
you watch one of the Buckeye star players grab the
flag and stomp on it, which was actually kind of funny,
Like that's how this is, that's how this is officiated
and judicated. But no, no, no, the pepper spray. Yeah,
we'll look into that. But you can't plant the flag
on our field now, But you'll get into what the
right thing is. I mean, instead of instead of being
all caught up in I still can't believe we lost
to Michigan now, I.
Speaker 3 (37:50):
Still can't believe we lost to them. Well, that one
is kind of obvious, so you don't need to really
do a lot of grand standing on that one. The
pepper spray. But I mean, you have year your acts
in your charter of how you escalate de escalate a situation,
and the police can go through and enumerate what happened
and why that action was held. That that one, I
(38:12):
think you can kind of go buy the books. In
this case, you got a guy saying this should be
a felony, and he's got a great story, So I
don't want to, you know, go harass him too terribly much.
You know, he had had some issues, was heard on
a job and and rallied back. But he didn't go
to Ohio State, so he's not even grand standing for
them for his alma mater, Like he's a graduate of
(38:34):
the University of Toledo College of Law, but after going
for I don't even know where he's undergrad but where's Toledo.
Toledo's in Ohio, in Ohio. But then again, it's the
you know, the adopted college process. But all of that
to say, you know, he's decided this is what he
wants to run on. Forget about anything else that might
(38:55):
come up in the process of roads, schools, anything else
up to the universe. I look at a time when
they were under siege, and you look and the bottom
line is, you don't need to do this, because what
do we say right after it happened? What do we
say in the monday after. There's gonna be a rule
instituted in the off season by college people who will
get together on this and say we're outlawing flag planting.
(39:17):
Can't do it, and that's gonna be the end of it.
They're gonna say, it was really embarrassing. We don't want
that to come.
Speaker 1 (39:22):
So no flag planting, and you'll have to find up
some other way to troll the team when you win
on their home field. So that's a just half your
band do a thing like they're deafecating something like that.
Speaker 3 (39:31):
It's a felony already escalated. Here come to cops, man com.
They saw you run in the middle the field of
that flag. You're better drop that flag, make sure your
fingerprints aren't on that flag, wipe them off, and run away.
All of a sudden, Sippo Witz is on the jumbo trod.
You're getting a needle. That's just insane. Come on, man,
exit out out of Fresco Exit Swelling Dome, The Jason
Smithshore with Mike Carmon. Coming up next, the Big takeaway
(39:53):
from the biggest NFL and college football story of the day,
Jason Smith, Mike Harmon. You are listening to Fox Sports Radio.
That was yesterday, Jason.
Speaker 2 (40:05):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 3 (40:17):
Oh this one song, you don't jump eight, fall through six.
I'm your back, dam I'm not gonna say it because
you would put it in the first song. You haven't
talked over in years. Well, because I haven't heard this.
He was got all excited. Wait, it's a different match.
Dirty Deed's done dirt cheap over a Christ. I mean,
have some good ones this year. That's pretty good, man.
(40:38):
That's Bond's the trove of stuff. That's Bond. Scott going
right there, man, expired. You know I saw the Creed
the yeah, yeah, Creed do it. But it was actually
the lyrics of Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. No, that's
good you Jason, guess on what Wait, to hear our
next guests walk up. Okay, I mean, look, I was
digging Bond Scott d ac DC there.
Speaker 1 (40:58):
But let's get to our guests so we can walk up.
He today's so jealous. He is a longtime NFL insider,
thirty third team. He's helping the Jets get a gm oh.
He's on Twitter at Jason Cole. It is Jason Cole.
But let's hear Bill Belichick do a song first.
Speaker 4 (41:15):
Yourself, Christmas.
Speaker 1 (41:37):
Boy, you made it. You made it tough of me
hitting the post on that tysher, but I did.
Speaker 4 (41:41):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (41:41):
The aforementioned Jason Cole joins us. Now the hotland. What's up?
Ja Cole?
Speaker 4 (41:44):
Hey, bud it I have a I think I have
a tear in my eye after that, I really do.
I mean, that was so great. That so great.
Speaker 3 (41:53):
It's a holiday song, man, It's a holiday song to
end all holiday songs.
Speaker 4 (41:58):
It really is. There's nothing, nothing can really truly match that.
Then Belichick a Christmas. Can you imagine for Christmas? He
gets like, wake for us?
Speaker 3 (42:09):
That song right now is number one in the entire
state of North Carolina.
Speaker 4 (42:13):
I can only imagine what is it going to be
when Steve Belichick takes over his head coach. That's what
I want to know.
Speaker 3 (42:21):
We're onto Syracuse, We're onto Syracuse.
Speaker 4 (42:24):
We're on to Syracuse, We're on the Stanford.
Speaker 3 (42:30):
So I know you've probably been waiting to weigh in
on this.
Speaker 1 (42:32):
I'm just gonna say, Bill Belichick, North Carolina J cole Go.
Speaker 4 (42:39):
I guess it's an overwhelming feeling like disappointment. Yeah, I'm
not enjoying, Like, yeah, you can laugh at this, and
you can. You know, there's the obvious one liners about
him recruiting kids and dealing with an I L and yeah,
all of that, right, but no, Belichick should be in
(43:02):
the NFL. He should be coaching, Like Jacksonville should just
said okay, just we'll hire you. We'll do this and
see if they if they can get the most out
of Trevor Lawrence instead of come bumbling around and not
making this decision because the people in the building say
that there's no decision that's been made yet on Doug Peterson,
(43:22):
let alone who might succeed him if they move on
from Doug. Right, it's like I like Doug, but it's
not working, So you know, like Jacksonville should hire them.
The Giants should be talking to him. I don't understand
this this where it's it's it's the it's I mean,
(43:47):
it's just bottom line, belongs in the NFL, and not
just because you can break down Show's record, but because
he's a really great coach.
Speaker 3 (43:55):
And nobody wanted.
Speaker 4 (43:59):
And that's he was not in. It's just insanity, it's
just stupidity. It's just people being you know, like I
don't know if they're just afraid of him or not.
But the man's won three hundred and whatever, you know,
three hundred and however many games like three d and
(44:21):
thirty three games. He knows how to win games. And yeah,
he had twenty years of Tom Brady, and and when
it didn't have Brady wasn't as great. I'll take my
chances with him over you know, obviously Ben Johnson's gonna
be number one on the list. But after that, you know, okay,
Rabel maybe, but there's nobody else who's better than you know,
(44:47):
who's clearly better than him after you get past those two.
Speaker 3 (44:52):
Right, I mean five, does it come down to control?
And even though you're not going to keep Shane or
Balki in those I called him Balki. Yeah, you're not
going to keep either of those or whatever.
Speaker 4 (45:05):
He should be gone. That's all. So I guess I
don't know what people are afraid of. I mean, yeah,
he didn't draft, you know, great, he drafted well enough
that they you know, and acquired players in whatever manner
that he did over a twenty year period that he
built some really good teams. Again, I just I just
(45:29):
don't get it. I don't. I don't understand why he's
left having to take a North Carolina job. And I get,
you know, he's doing this partly because he's trying to
make sure his son has a job long term, is
taken care of and all that kind of stuff. He
doesn't belong in North Carolina. He just doesn't.
Speaker 3 (45:50):
Couldn't he have just started out for his kid instead?
Speaker 4 (45:55):
Could you have started five twenty nine? Don't I don't
quite get.
Speaker 3 (45:57):
It's the cut and here's your college and instead of
saying I got to give you a job, I guess.
Speaker 4 (46:04):
You know, Steve's Steve is or whatever. I just I
know I know enough stories about Steve that it's a
little dangerous.
Speaker 6 (46:13):
But but but that's the thing about this Jake hole
is that you know, we talked my overwhelming sense is
just it's embarrassing for me to see that this is
the best coach we've seen in NFL history, and after
a year of being out, he doesn't He's not going
to Michigan, he's not going to Florida, he's not going
to Ohio State.
Speaker 3 (46:31):
He's going to a mid power five program. I mean,
it's not not even one of the top colleges. Hey,
come here and Bill Covert.
Speaker 4 (46:39):
It's not even one of the best programs in the ACC.
I mean, how many ACC programs are traditionally better than
than them. I mean there's a bunch like they're just
a no, it's I mean, I guess it's a fight
for relevance among the people at North Carolin on it
(47:01):
and they're trying to make sure that they protect their
position to stay in Division one over the next three
to five years. But it's just a bad fit. Like
it's just it's not good. Like pour all that money
that you're pouring into him into the into getting players
and yeah and then yeah, Michael Lombardy taking over in
the general manager of football. I mean, like that's just
(47:24):
the academic fraud waiting to happen. I mean, come on,
do you see.
Speaker 3 (47:32):
What do you see the people that Belichick brings into
coach with him? Where do you see?
Speaker 4 (47:36):
Come on, I'm saying that's some great guys. Wow, don't
you want.
Speaker 3 (47:42):
Don't you want Nick Saban to be one of his coordinators?
Come on, man, don't you Yeah?
Speaker 4 (47:47):
Lombardy is like I mean, and he's not even this talleentar,
but he's like Joe Petcy to you know, to de
Niro right, like you just hang them on, like yeah, no, no, Now,
come on, Bobby Man, you have the man.
Speaker 3 (48:02):
Here, you keep him here here. I don't try and
choose the walk. You know if you know that, don't
you know that, Billy? I haven't done that a long time. Billy.
Speaker 4 (48:09):
Yeah, they get your shinebox. You might still get it.
I just yeah, I no, I mean I again, there
are all sorts of one liners doing this one easy.
It would be easy, but everybody's done that. And it's
just an overwhelming disappointment that he's not going to be
(48:29):
on an NFL sideline for you know, like give one
last hurrah and what work? Probably not because most things
in this league don't work. But I just think he's
going to be miserable having to handle eighteen to twenty
two year olds toward demanding money when they haven't done anything,
and like having to have a bunch of people follow
(48:51):
those kids around to make sure they don't do something
stupid or when you know they you know, they don't
learn the defense. It just it's going to be frustrating
for him to deal with this. I mean, he wants
to coach adults, and even those adults that he's coaching,
you know, have their moments where they're not really not
much or either. But this is going to be way worse.
(49:13):
And he doesn't He doesn't deserve this kind of ending.
He deserved to go out in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (49:19):
Well, let's go to an NFL situation that, based on
one report, could be uh well, ticking ticking, ticking towards disaster.
The Philadelphia Eagles. Brandon Graham talking about issues with Brown
and hurts. We had all the hurt Sirianni earlier on.
Are they going to be able to keep this in
the rails down the stretch?
Speaker 4 (49:39):
Whid receivers are really easy to take care of it.
I don't understand why they haven't learned this. You got
to throw on the ball two or three times in
the first, you know, like ten minutes of the game.
It's really just you just got to throw it at
him and then if they don't catch it, that's their fault.
But you got to throw on the ball and make
sure that they're involved. And I understand you he gets
Saquon bark in great running game Hall, but you went
(50:00):
and paid that guy a lot of money. They got
to touch the ball's it's that simple, And they don't
have to be eight passes, but it's got to be
two or three early on in the game and make
them feel like they're part of the game, and then
they'll go and they'll work hard for you and do
anything neat. And the other side of this is you're
going to need aj Brown somewhere down the line when
people are against good defenses, when people load up to
(50:23):
stop Saquan or you get into a shootout, which is
probably what's going to happen in Detroit. So they'll get
him the ball, you know in college number like they
didn't call his number until they were what two minutes
left than the first half ye on Sunday, Like that's
just that's just idiotic, that's not even that's not even
Jalen's fault. That's the entire staff, Like the entire staff
(50:47):
should drop a game plan to say, get him the ball.
I remember Marvin Lewis talking about this with Chad. It's
like Chad would lose his mind if you didn't get
him the ball early on in the game, at least
at least once to twice. Okay, it was like it
was like it was like an infant needing a pacifier.
(51:08):
You just had to get them the ball. And that's
really appropriate with wide receivers. But you just have to
and you have to realize that as egomaniacal as they are,
they are such big time stars. And I was listening
to Willie Cologne about this on podcast and he was
just great talking about you know, s Antonio Holmes or
(51:29):
Antonio Brown, and yeah, they're divas. And there were problems
and you didn't know what you were going to get
every day, but you're knew in big games like those
guys were going to be such stars that they were
gonna sit there and go, I can't be covered, get
me the ball and I'm going to make a huge
play and we're gonna win this game. Right. You have
(51:51):
to have guys like that. You have to have guys
who on big stages like to play big, so make
sure that they're ready for that. And A. J. Brown's
your guide now Davante. Davante's been happy. You know, he's
an Alabama guy. You know, they all, you know, have
their egos destroyed by Saban over a certain amount of time.
(52:11):
Says they're ground down. But Agent Brown's not that guy.
You've got it still. You know, you gotta take care
of his ego.
Speaker 1 (52:18):
He's on Twitter at Jason Cole sixty two, that is
at Jason Cole's No Questions.
Speaker 4 (52:23):
Cologne went off on the Jets by the way he
was just it was like bart I think it.
Speaker 3 (52:27):
Was Bartolo Cologne. What did he say about him?
Speaker 4 (52:30):
Well, yeah, well he was talking about how he's going
to once that was going to look like.
Speaker 3 (52:35):
Hey no. The thirty second answer, how close is Mark
Gaston I ever gotten to getting into the hall? How
close uh is it that sack?
Speaker 4 (52:46):
If if he drives to Campton, he'll be close to
the hol of the stuff he walked inside. Okay, that's
about as close he is ever going to get, I mean,
on the ballot. Come on.
Speaker 3 (53:00):
Jake Cole has always buddy appreciated my friend, we'll talk
to you next week. There it goes, there goes Jake Cole.
I just felt, you know, if you opened the door
with the Jets, I mean that was the obvious one.
What no, judge, No, no, not.
Speaker 1 (53:15):
All the time we talked about the talked about the
UFOs last night.
Speaker 3 (53:19):
All right, we need a break. We need a break.
It's like Jason driving the Dodger Stadium to see the
World Series trophy. That's his closest he'll ever get. Sucks
for that tour.
Speaker 4 (53:28):
Man.
Speaker 1 (53:29):
Hey, I was there in the picture. I was there
when the Dodgers celebrated winning the NLC. Yes, And my
daughter turns to me because we went to the Game six,
and she goes, I'm sorry, Dad, I said, you know,
it's okay. I said, but look, isn't this pretty cool?
I mean, you'll get they're celebrating going to the World Series.
It's kind of cool. In your face, Yeah, it kind
of is. And I was like, yeah, okay, like we were,
we lose it, We're getting killed the entire game like
it wasn't happening.
Speaker 3 (53:49):
And I'm like, okay, I.
Speaker 1 (53:50):
Can appreciate what a great baseball moment it was. And
all the Mets fans. I'm sitting around, We're all hugging
each other, going.
Speaker 3 (53:56):
Great season, man, great season. No no, no, no no.
I didn't do that. Losers do that. I can't. I
can't say the same thing for my dad, but I
know I didn't.
Speaker 4 (54:08):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (54:09):
When you go wal
