(00:51):
If you thought Knicks fans were upset at Trey Young
rolling dice on the core and telling them all to
go home after the game is over, get your ass
is home, the collective Knicks fans, all of them put together,
all of us put together, not nearly as upset as
Steve Kerr was following the end of the Rockets win
(01:13):
over the Warriors that knocked the Warriors out of the
e Cup and put the Rockets into the Western Conference Finals.
There will be no trip to Vegas for Steve current
company coming up in twenty minutes. You're gonna hear he
has a two minute rip that I got his. I
don't know. Can you find someone in the millions of dollars? Yes,
for the questioning officials?
Speaker 3 (01:34):
You go. I used to find Cuban hundreds of thousands
of dollars at a time. This minute, Kurrs going after
the officials and after the league had a number of issues.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
He has a he has a two minute lacing of
the of the officials from the end of tonight's gate. Again,
we'll have that coming up in about fifteen minute. Here
Muff's Adam Silver. Yeah, yeah, Adam Silver is gonna come
intomorrow and go Bernice, what happened?
Speaker 4 (02:01):
Why?
Speaker 1 (02:01):
Why? Why? Why do I have all the Why do
I have eight messages from from Steve Kerr on my voicemail?
Can I go back it?
Speaker 3 (02:07):
Do that interview that that Smith and Harmon Kid asked
for asking about quality of play. I think I'd rather
do that interview right now. He is absolutely I didn't
even want to say on fire, but it's it's Steve Kerr.
So it's not like he's ranting and raving and cursing.
But wow, the stuff he says about officiating.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
It's calm, it's measured, and yeah he's.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
But he may have a point well and you'll hear it,
you know what, Yeah, it doesn't matter, you'll hear it
here first coming up in about fifteen minutes. Meanwhile, as
we said, look, this is this is is very rare
that we get shocked.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
By stories and sports that continue to be shockers. Because
I look, seeing this and doing this as long as
as I have now and as long as you and
I have, Yeah, there's stuff that gives you a shock
and then it wears off and you get too other things.
But Bill Belichick agreeing to a five year deal to
coach at North Carolina is this is going to be
(03:12):
a shocking decision, no matter today, tomorrow, next week, next year.
Seeing on the sideline for the first time in that
powder blue as he goes to coach, I mean, it
is unbelievably shocking that here is the best head coach
in the NFL that we have ever seen, who ran
on tough times last year and this is his next
(03:32):
maybe last job in the NFL, last job in football.
Speaker 5 (03:35):
And my overall.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
Reaction to this today when it happened it was the
shock hit me is that I just feel embarrassed for
him and I feel bad for him because this is
a guy, again, the best head coach any of us
have seen, right, more Super Bowl titles than anybody. He
owned two decades worth of the NFL. Now he run
(04:00):
on hard times, Yeah did he did? He sort of
seal his own fate with the Patriots, and they showed that.
Hey went on the GM and allowed to pick the
team and pick the groceries. I don't pick the best groceries. Ah,
the fruit went bad. The vegetables are all wilty. And
what happened to the Patriots since Tom Brady left was
just a slow erosion of the franchise until they're at
the point now where they were a blow up and
(04:22):
we were starting over this year. And so yeah, that hurts.
That hurts Belichick a little bit, but still all right,
getting out of New England, the divorce that was coming, Hey,
somebody else is gonna want this guy because it's not
like he forgot how to coach, not all this. And
then what happened in a year he couldn't get a job,
(04:42):
And as we talked about last night, we said, how
is this going to play? And why the North Carolina
thing was so real? Oh, by the way, ahead of
the curve. Why this was so real is because he
knew if I don't get hired by the NFL, now
they're never going to hire me. That had a whole
off season last year I couldn't get a game, and
now I gotta let teams know that I want to
(05:03):
go back to coach, and if they don't want me,
they got to let me know. And so the whole
North Carolina thing came up, which is a win win
situation for him. He could win by going to coach
at North Carolina, or an NFL team would say, wait, Bill,
give us a couple of weeks till the end of
the season that we really want to quote talk to
you about our job. Okay, But none of that happened,
(05:25):
and and Belichick had to I'm either coaching North Carolina
or who knows, another year hanging out on Pat McAfee's show.
Me and him and aj Hawk What a great what
a great three some were?
Speaker 3 (05:35):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (05:38):
And I feel so embarrassed for him because in a year.
This time last year, it was, Hey, the Belichick era
in New England is ending. Where's he gonna go in
free agency? In coaching free agency? Are the Cowboys gonna
get him? Or the Giants gonna get him? Who's gonna
get him? And in a year he has gone from
I was the best coach the NFL has ever seen,
(05:59):
and now I have to go finish and coaching college
and not at a top program like Michigan or Ohio
State or Alabama or Texas. No, no, no, I'm going
to a mid level acc program. And you can say, hey, yeah,
his dad was assistant there or you know, fifty years ago,
seventy five years ago. Okay, yeah, I understand that a
(06:20):
little bit. But this is just embarrassing him, Like how
how he has fallen in the estimation this far, this fast.
That's I'm never gonna get over that. I'm just embarrassed that.
Not the college football is a bad place. Hey, you'd
have great time coaching in college. Well, people make great
careers there. But this is a guy who achieved the
top level in his profession. College coaches, NFL coaches, CFL coaches,
(06:43):
World League coaches, whatever you want to say he's the
top of that, and he's gonna finish out his career
coaching at a mid level ACC program where he's gonna
have a tough time beating Duke and Syracuse. Forget about
playing Florida State and Florida. He's gonna have a tough
time beating those teams. He's gonna go be a mid
A coach at a mid tier Power five program. That
(07:04):
that's just I'm never gonna get away from how this
is just embarrassing for him, that this is where he's
gotta go to go coach, even if he starts winning, Hey,
you can start out six or oh that's great. Why
is Bill Belichick and the Powder Blue cutoffs? Why why
is he in that? Why Why is he not coaching
somewhere else? Why is he not coaching the Cowboys something else?
Because this is how far he has fallen in just
(07:24):
a year. And I'm that part of it is never
gonna leave me, That part of the shock of the
embarrassment that this is where he's at, that this is
where so he's not living up here, he's not living
down here. That is never gonna leave me.
Speaker 3 (07:36):
I think some of it comes to the negative recruiting
of Hey, he's an old guy.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
Does it relate?
Speaker 3 (07:42):
Yet he goes to coach a college squad and that
never seemed to be the issue, right, Actually coaching guys
up once they were there was not a problem. It
was the assistant coaches and curious decisions, almost as if
to say, look, you knuckle heads, look what I'm gonna do.
The George Costanza, I'm gonna drive around the parking lot
dragging the World Series trophy around, trying to get himself fired.
(08:06):
You know, like Bill Belichick goes, hey, I'm a wizard. Wait,
watch this is gonna work. Look at Patricia offensive coordinator.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
It's gonna be great.
Speaker 3 (08:15):
So like those decisions, and you know, the guy that
was running the show, whether he had a GM title
or not, how many of these teams, And we talked
with Jason.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
Cole about it a little bit earlier.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
When you're looking at the Giants and the Jaguars, I
got to presume both their gms are getting fired, right,
Shane's going out the door with Dable and down in
Jacksonville that Trent Balkey and Doug Peterson find their pink slips.
Do those owners necessarily want to give Belichick control of everything,
so it becomes that kind of reporting structure. Now, if
(08:47):
you're switching everything out, then yeah, see if you can
figure out that marriage and bring him in together unlike
other teams that have empty suits bears sitting in GM slots.
But all of that to say, some of that power
structure thing, I think is part of it. The negative
recruiting of all right, he doesn't relate. He's kind of
aloof to the different things players are experiencing. Whatever that
(09:10):
you can do that we talked about it being a
very real thing when it comes to college sports, which
again which why it's interesting that you go to Carolina.
The other jokes beyond all the obvious ones that have
been made about Belichick relating to the younger players recruiting
and everything else, was also well, it's an improvement over
Mac Brown. He is younger, the youth movement as it were.
(09:34):
But when you're looking at from the NFL perspective, embarrassment. Yeah,
it's it's gonna be kind of weird and tough to
watch it. You want to go through their score twenty
five schedule and see if we can find some wins on.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
Let's go game for game let's go. Let's start it off,
Bill Jason Smith, Fox Sports Radio, how do you feel
about going to the pop Tarts Bowl? Are you excited
about that?
Speaker 3 (09:58):
Being exc I had a guy put head pop Tarts
in the locker man pop Tarts ball.
Speaker 1 (10:03):
They start off. That's right, start with TCU, good advice
to all players. Let's go.
Speaker 3 (10:08):
Then at Charlotte the forty nine ers and you got
the Spiders of Richmond.
Speaker 1 (10:12):
Okay, when's the for sure win against Syracuse?
Speaker 3 (10:14):
Mike Syracuse uh date tbd of course, but second to
last game of the season, right ahead of the Wake
Forest Demon Deacons were.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
Under Syracuse backs out of the game. You just wait
till Miller Mass shows up and throws all over North Carolina.
We win that game. You just wait is going to cues?
You just wait? We get anybody we want to come on?
Raise up? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (10:36):
Anyway, So all all that to say, I can see
where from the NFL side of all right, he had
his run ken He replicated, how long will it take
to replicate not that many of the NFL squads allow
you to quote unquote build a program, right, because we
(10:56):
see how many coaches get blown out after one or
two years anymore, much different than it was once upon
a time. But still did that that point of all, right,
how much patience would you have the my way or
the highway? Whereas North Carolina's like, wait, we're gonna be
relevant for a bit, We're gonna activate an alumni base,
and it's not relative to the basketball squad or some
(11:18):
of the other school school programs that we've got. Wait,
football is actually going to be activated. Well with that,
Garrett Taylor was great. I get it for them, I
would do it. And Belichick wanted to keep coaching. Okay,
it's just this is where you had to go.
Speaker 1 (11:35):
It's a new challenge. This is where you differ from man,
it's a different level to go dominate. This is this
is how this is how much Belichick wanting to win
his way after Brady left. I don't need a great quarterback.
I'm gonna do it my way. How much that damages
reputation because nobody wants them.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
Well, but even in the sparse details, and again it's
all sketch stuff and a lot of theory at this
point as to what U n C had to agree
to and what he acquiesced to. Right, you bring in
Lombardi as a GM. What's one of his guys. So
that's not really giving anything. He's a puppet. Shove his
hand up, and I know we're after ten o'clock, but easy, okay,
(12:17):
I was going. I was going full Sam Jackson there. Hey,
just alluded to it. We won't move up to it.
But but you actually did the visual to me and
put the hand up. And this is radio.
Speaker 1 (12:30):
You wouldn't even know you not brought it up.
Speaker 3 (12:32):
It was for your edification, but I wanted to bring
it up to get rid of mine.
Speaker 1 (12:37):
Everybody knows.
Speaker 3 (12:37):
No, it's not no, no, no, I steep So the
idea Steve Belichick.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
I see how it all is full circle.
Speaker 3 (12:45):
Wait, Jason's doing to show what Steve Belichick might might
be before long.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
You never can tell. He doesn't have time. He's going
to be doing everything to Bill Belichick. Don't wait for
Jason's glued on mullet. If you would, I think I would.
I would probably have the glut on mullet. I think
I would try to do that. Sure, it gotta be dark.
Speaker 3 (13:06):
At the next iteration of things. I don't know in
the new year, more video and you've.
Speaker 1 (13:11):
Got to go mullet.
Speaker 3 (13:15):
Yeah, no, yeah, no cut off and I grow a mustag.
You would have to be before long, you're kiddy power cut.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
Off denim jacket over the cutoff hoodie and then with
with with the glute on mullet. Okay, yeah that would be. Yeah,
that's our Yeah, that's me. I'm digging that. I'm taking that. Look.
But Steve Belichick has no time because his dad's gonna
make him do everything. So Belichick can coach the way
he wants to. I don't want to get involved in
some of the That's why I'm hiring this whole big
staff so I can have them do all the nil
(13:42):
stuff and I'll do whatever I need to a couple
of minutes a day with a phone call here and there.
You got all this big staff I'm bringing in. You're
all gonna do most of that stuff, and I'm just
gonna be the coach.
Speaker 3 (13:53):
But the report was that it was what a four
hundred page plan, including here's all the infrastructure, here's the
money we need, and I eld are already saying it's
gone from Florida to twenty million dollars overnight.
Speaker 1 (14:04):
And that's just getting started.
Speaker 3 (14:06):
Yeah, they even haven't knocked down all the doors yet,
and they're already committed over twenty million dollars. So all
of that to say, it's a great theory, it's a
great experiment. I don't feel bad for him. I'm kind
of energized with him.
Speaker 1 (14:21):
I'm just embarrassed for you want to head of the curve?
Take here, go ahead. What do you got for Frostburg?
They will lead college football in people transferring out. Make
what happened with Dion and Colorado look like a trip
to the candy store. You think kids these days are
going to relate to that? Absolutely not. Hey, who's this?
Who's this coach? We got? Man? He's like, is he
yelling at me? Who is this guy? I'm not man?
(14:43):
Why is he talking to me for forty five minutes
about about punt formation? Why is he doing? I'm a quarterback?
Why do I care? I'm I gotta I gotta hit
the portal. Many I got hit the portal. I get
hit the portal. Exit out out of Fresco, exit, swelling
down the Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mine Carmon. I.
We'll have more football on the way. But straight ahead,
(15:04):
you have to hear Steve Kerr and what he had
to say, well, try to guess how much money the
NBA is going to take from him. You'll hear his
two minute rant coming up next to Jason and Mike
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (15:18):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (15:32):
So apparently lots of songs fit into Mariah Carey All
I want Christmas? Is you okay? Gir the good stuff though, Jason,
what have I told you? I found one that has
a apple bottom jeans. Let's just say that a nice bus. Wait,
just wait, just wait. Isn't that? Isn't that the song
that Tom Cruise sings in the Tropic Thunder? Isn't that
the song when he's doing the whole even Bill Hater
(15:54):
are doing the whole thing? Is he's less grossman?
Speaker 2 (15:56):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (15:56):
I think that's apple bottom jeans. Uh it is after
ten o'clock. I will not answer that question. No, that
can do it. I can do it. So I plead
the one, two, three, four, take a seat. We've got
(16:16):
to tell you what just happened. At the end of
the Warriors' Rockets game so Steve Kerr is extremely upset.
He's upset at the officiating. I'll tell you what happened
on the next to last play of the game. The
Rockets wound up winning ninety one to ninety over the Warriors.
The Warriors have the ball and they are up ninety
(16:38):
to eighty nine, right, so they have the ball. There
is less than fifteen seconds left to go, and Steph
Curry takes a three with about twelve seconds left. The
ball bounces around and it gets knocked in. A couple
of different people grab it. The ball gets on.
Speaker 3 (16:54):
The floor and it's just a scrum for the ball,
and they call a foul on Jonathan Kaminga, sending Jalen
Green to the free throw line with three seconds left
in the game.
Speaker 1 (17:08):
Jalen Green hits both free throws. The Rockets lead ninety
one to ninety. The Warriors last gas three pointer gets blocked,
and so the Rockets move on to Las Vegas into
the Final four of the NBA Cup, and Steve Kerr
is beside himself over the fact they called a foul.
As the Rockets and Warriors are both scrambling for the
(17:29):
loose ball.
Speaker 3 (17:30):
You got bodies flying everywhere, grease pig pig skin kind
of thing, right that we always see in football movies
where it's raining and their muddy and the ball score
and like everybody's trying to control and get get handled
three or four times. It's like you got bodies colliding
and it's one of those Okay.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
Yeah, you'll see the replay and go, really they call
the foul because I am with You're gonna hear Steve
Kerr coming up in a couple of seconds, but I'm
with him. It was a really bad call. It was
an absolutely awful call. I don't know how you call it. Yes,
the Rockets are trying to call time out. Let him
call time out, right with three seconds left, they have
the ball, they call time out. That's an apropos thing
(18:13):
to do, but to call a foul and I'm still
trying to find the foul. On Jonathan come in, I'm
still trying to find it, and he is really mad.
But before we get to that, we have to say
this because I'm gonna have Steve's curz back on this.
But now I'm also gonna say, dude, if you really
want to be upset, your team should have won and
you had an epic fail on that play that would
(18:34):
have ended the game. Okay, because the Warriors are up
one and there's twelve seconds left on the clock. When
Steph Curry puts up a three, gets a little bit
of space between him and the defender, he puts up
a three. There is nine seconds left on the shot
clock at that point. Why is Steph Curry putting up
a shot with twelve seconds left with the lead when
(18:57):
you could take it all the way down to five
seconds or four seconds, take a shot and then it
doesn't matter. By the time the ball bounce around, you
get the rebound, the clock maybe hit zero, or if
you are the Rockets, you have one chance with maybe
a second left, to throw it in real fast and
chuck up a three that doesn't go anywhere. Why the
hell are you taking a shot there when there's nine
(19:18):
seconds left in the shot clock. You'll see the replay
and you'll see Steph Curry taking that shot twelve seconds
left on the shot and you'll see nine seconds left
in the shot clock. What are you doing? Like? That's
on you. I'm sorry that you're upset about the officiating,
and you have a right to be, because that call
was bad.
Speaker 3 (19:32):
But that's on you. That didn't even need to be
a thing. You put it in the officials hands. And
Steph Curry put it in the officials hands by taking
a shot that he didn't need to take, right, Like,
I get that, ay, Steph was feeling it a little
bit and he wanted to take that shot.
Speaker 1 (19:46):
Maybe it was the fact it was a low scoring
game and Steph didn't feel like maybe I had the
stamp on the game that I wanted to have, or
for whatever reason. You know, players go through different mental
things over the course of the game, and Steph Curry
only had nineteen. Maybe he was like, I need to
do that. I can win this game. I've done this
plenty of times before. But it really doesn't make any
sense that you're taking a shot with twelve seconds left
(20:09):
when there's nine seconds left in the shot clock. And oh,
by the way, if the Rockets are smart, they're gonna
value at some point, right. They just don't want to foul,
Steph Curry, You don't want to They're gonna foul at
the ball, yes, but they got to falue at some point,
right If they if they let the clock tick all
the way down, they're playing into your hands. The worst
case scenario should have been the Rocket, the Rockets, foul
(20:30):
somebody on the Warriors who is taking hitting and shooting
a couple of free throws with between five and ten
seconds left on the clock and likely it's gonna you know,
you make one attitude you're you're still defending and have
a chance to close this game out. That should have
been the worst case scenario, but instead an even worst
thing happened because you missed the shot, which now gives
the Rockets a chance when they get the rebound to
(20:52):
call a time out. But the ball bounces all around
crazy and the officials make a really bad call for
a foul. So I'm sorry, but that's on you because
that's a bad basket ball play and had you just
taken care of that, you wouldn't even be complaining about
the officiating after that.
Speaker 3 (21:04):
Yeah, someone might be yelling a little home cooking because
you watch replay, we slowed it down because that's the
power of the iPad and the touch screens, is that
you know, the the difference between his shot and the
end game is a total about eight three and a
half seconds. As Curry releases it with twelve point five remaining,
(21:27):
on the shot clogged down to nine and then you
get the inevitable scrum that flows out of it and
the rockets actually probably should have been called for a fall.
First is that you have Van Lee goes over the
top of Gary Payton the second and the ball scorts
out towards towards mid court, and that's where Kaminga gets
(21:48):
into it, and you eventually get the foul call there.
So kurs not only in sense that they called a
fall at all, but he didn't get the other call either,
because you see towards the sideline as the ball comes
off the rim, the initial contact being made with Van
Vliet going over the top and eventually getting the ball
(22:08):
to start drifting back the other way, So should have
been a loose ball, doesn't get the call. The other
one goes free throws made game over. But your point
about Steph Curry absolutely right. Tried to play a little
bit of hero ball, the old proverbial dagger on this
god awful blood red cord us.
Speaker 1 (22:30):
Now here's the play by play, and then you're gonna
hear from Steve Kerry. Here's the playing question that had
Steve Kerr so made. Curry steps back on a launch,
he missed.
Speaker 3 (22:40):
It, fight for the rebound, painting hoped away five seconds
poy does Green have possession?
Speaker 2 (22:50):
And Billy Kennedy says fell.
Speaker 4 (22:54):
On the Warriors sequence of a pence and Steve Carr is.
Speaker 1 (23:01):
In disbelief, TNT on the call and look again, it
should have never been shot, right, But Steve Kerr is
mad about the call that gets made. There again, Jalen
Green makes the free throws Rockets win the game. Here
is Steve Kerr in a nice two minute rant about
what he feels about the officiating, and oh boy, I'm
just performance. I'm just seeing a real big check being
(23:25):
written to the NBA with what he says about the
officiating on this play, specifically.
Speaker 4 (23:31):
All situation eighty feet from the basket. What's a game
on the line. I've never seen that. I think I
saw in college one time thirty years ago. Never seen
it in the NBA. That is, I mean, unconscionable. I
(23:53):
don't even understand what just happened. You know, loose ball
diving on the floor eighty feet from the basket, and
you're gonna give guy two free throws to decide the
game when people are scrambling for the ball. Just give
them a timeout, Give them a timeout, and let the
players decide the game. That's how you officiate, especially because
(24:16):
the game was a complete wrestling match.
Speaker 1 (24:18):
You know, they didn't call anything.
Speaker 4 (24:20):
Steph Curry got hit on the elbow playing his day
on a jump shot, just clubbed right on there.
Speaker 1 (24:25):
No call.
Speaker 4 (24:26):
So are you've established you're just not gonna call anything
throughout the game.
Speaker 1 (24:30):
It's physical game.
Speaker 4 (24:31):
We're gonna call it a loose ball foul on a
jump ball situation with guys diving on the floor.
Speaker 1 (24:37):
Okay, wait, wait, stop for a second. Starf You know,
Joe Burrow also got his face mask balled and that
wasn't called. I want to make sure I get out there. Funny,
he started to enumerate a bunch of those.
Speaker 3 (24:44):
You know, I was watching Monday night football and then
I saw Homer get his face mask ripped.
Speaker 1 (24:50):
I like that.
Speaker 3 (24:51):
He just said, you know, on one play, Steph Curry
got hit and didn't get a foul call.
Speaker 1 (24:56):
No special one plays to win, one play in the
forty eight minutes.
Speaker 3 (24:59):
It was one play a foul that wasn't called. Stephan,
you know, I don't understand about that.
Speaker 1 (25:04):
All right, So let let's let's pick up Steve Kurt
ripping the referees already in progress.
Speaker 2 (25:08):
Aim on the line.
Speaker 4 (25:10):
This is a billion dollar industry. You get people's jobs
on the line. I am I am stunned. I am
stunt I give the Rockets credit. They battle back, they
play great defense all night. But I feel for our guys.
Our guys battled back, played their asses and deserve to
win that game, or at least have a chance for
(25:30):
one stop at the end to finish the game.
Speaker 1 (25:34):
Here it comes, get right.
Speaker 4 (25:35):
It was taken from us by a call that I
don't think an elementary school referee would have made.
Speaker 1 (25:43):
So prosper over under what's the fine? H he has
to watch three next games that they're gonna say, Jets
games make it really bad. Go on the next we win.
You don't want them to go blind?
Speaker 3 (25:58):
Yeah, I mean that would be too punitive. I'm sorry,
I'll never do that again. I mean, maybe it's three
to six months. Like the felony charge of planting a
fla Steve Kerr Billy Kennedy in the octagon tonight.
Speaker 1 (26:11):
See there you go. They would have made Saturday Night's
made event. Maybe they come on board that in an
elementary school. I mean he's not wrong, No, he's not. No, absolutely,
it was an awful call. I don't see how they
call a foul there. And yeah, like I said, hey,
they should have the time out, okay, and I'll give
them the ball. You have three guys running around trying
to give them the Yeah, you, buddy, I can't believe you.
(26:34):
Look because I didn't see Kaminga go over the top.
Speaker 3 (26:36):
I didn't see, but the way that the referee, Billy
Kennedy makes the shoulder and like, dude, are you watching
the same thing.
Speaker 1 (26:42):
Yeah, but it happened.
Speaker 3 (26:43):
But again it happened with on the other side of
the court. Yeah, to get the ball to that position
where Green and Kaminga are even battling for it was
the same thing. Look, yes, the epic fail for Steph
Curry and I get it, but wow, that call, I
really I get Steve that I got us back for.
Speaker 1 (27:01):
I don't understand how you make that. The isso example
of what they missed. Like, it's one thing.
Speaker 3 (27:06):
If you know one of your assistants hand you a list,
here's fourteen grievances we're gonna file.
Speaker 1 (27:11):
No, but he got hit that one time. Yeah, yeah,
and and clearly you know, they didn't call a lot
oh no, a grudge, but they always you know, look,
the last two minutes are always officiated a little more tighter.
And I think that's something that NFL and NBA players
and coaches kind of get now that it's unfair, but
that's how it goes. The last two minutes of the
(27:32):
game are refed and officiated differently than the first forty
six or fifty eight minutes. It's not fair, but that's
how it goes now. And and so Steve Kurrs got
to kind of get that as well. The last two minutes,
even though it's a wrestling match, it's ninety one to ninety,
like it's a big defensive night, nobody's going up and
down the floor. You got to know the last two
minutes are going to be officiated a little bit differently.
But still it doesn't matter that that that that is
(27:54):
a call that's made that I just don't understand that
call at all. I really so great, though, I really
don't such a great in elementary school. In the elementary school,
we're gonna bring on Adam Silver now discuss this call. Else.
When's the last time you were in a fourth grade
basketball game. He not not won the JJ Reddick Coach
last year. When's the last time you were a fourth
grade basketball game? Do you know how upset Adam Silver
(28:16):
is going to be at this because it's not only
a regular this is not a game. This is cup.
Come man, it's an E Cup game. You just wait
and the cup game. Yeah, and and by way, remember
it's a television show. More people would watch Steph Curry
and Golden State than would watch the Rockets and Fred
van Vliet that is Adam Silver's golden project. And he
(28:40):
just basically laughed at it like a clown. He's gonna
he's gonna come in tomorrow morning and there's gonna be
like you know when people have you see in the
movies that used to be when when executives would have
messages and they would be on the pink pieces of
paper and they were on the and they were on
the spike. Spike, that spike is gonna happen to You're
like ten inches deep with Steve Kerr called it. Were
(29:01):
there any calls? Yeah, Steve Kurrt eight O two eight
oh four, eight O seven, eight oh nine, eight eleven
and eight twelve eight fifteen, eight seventeen, and here you
are a commissioner, thank you for coming.
Speaker 3 (29:13):
In, and they got bored so and now it's like
a flip book that just says Steve Kerr and then
it looks like it's the action happening when you would
draw the picture on the side of your Bookstay.
Speaker 1 (29:23):
Yeah, time now to find out what spend going on
the court in the wide world of sports. I'm someone
who actually won a lot of money tonight betting the
under on the Warriors and the Rockets. Intemanci belongas e
cup yo.
Speaker 6 (29:37):
I didn't I don't remember the exact number, but the
guys on NBA on T and T were saying that
there's been three hundred plus NBA games and this was
only the thirteenth game where neither team scored one hundred.
Speaker 5 (29:48):
So I was like, damn, I didn't even think of that.
Speaker 7 (29:50):
But I guess when you're shooting the lights out from
three point sure, I guess it does go over. But
you're being too logical, Jason on this whole Steph Curry
taking that three point.
Speaker 5 (30:01):
Shot, Okay, when they're up, you're being too logical.
Speaker 1 (30:03):
Well, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, it's not my brain works sometimes.
Speaker 5 (30:06):
I heard that and I was like, he's right, why
did he take that.
Speaker 1 (30:09):
Shot when they were up?
Speaker 7 (30:11):
Because I was watching the game. But to be honest,
I didn't even think about it. And he wasn't even
shooting well from the three point line.
Speaker 1 (30:16):
It's like off night.
Speaker 7 (30:17):
It was an off night, so and you were up,
and you're right, maybe he just thought felt it did
make no sense.
Speaker 1 (30:24):
You know, I can do the shot and do the
go to sleep thing, and I can do that right,
It'll look pretty, and that's what I do.
Speaker 5 (30:31):
Yeah, you're right, you're right. And then yeah, that loose
ball foul like it was messy. I I hear what
curR is saying. But you're right. They should have never
been in that position. And that's the whole point.
Speaker 7 (30:40):
And that's why the Rockets are headed to the semi
finals of.
Speaker 5 (30:43):
The NBA Cup.
Speaker 7 (30:45):
Ninety one ninety was the final score against the Warriors.
Speaker 5 (30:48):
Lprehan Shin Goon led the.
Speaker 7 (30:49):
Way for Houston with twenty six points and eleven rebounds.
Speaker 5 (30:52):
This game also had ten ties.
Speaker 7 (30:54):
Six lead changes. Houston wins it. They're gonna face OKAC
on Saturday in the summi far finals.
Speaker 5 (31:00):
Out of the East.
Speaker 7 (31:01):
It's the Hawks that punched their ticket to Las Vegas.
They beat the next one oh eight to one hundred,
Trey Young twenty two points, eleven rebounds. This is what
he had to say after the game about his relationship
with people like you, Jason Knicks fans.
Speaker 1 (31:13):
Oh, it's a love hate relationship. I mean, I got
a lot of love and a.
Speaker 7 (31:16):
Lot of hate, I guess from from them, But I
got love from them too.
Speaker 5 (31:20):
So it's respect, respect, right, Jason. Respect.
Speaker 1 (31:24):
Sure, that's exactly what I saw. Roland Die's been telling
Knicks fans get your asses. Hol Yeah, that's respects right,
say right.
Speaker 5 (31:30):
Yeah, exactly. So the Atlanta Hawks are going to face.
Speaker 7 (31:33):
The Milwaukee Bucks in the semi final on Saturday. In
college hoops, there were two games on Wednesday. Number twenty
three San Diego State outscored California Baptists eighty one to
seventy five, and number five Kentucky beat Colgate seventy eight
to sixty seven. Other college hoops news is that NCAA
President Charlie Baker said that they are having productive talks
on expanding the NCAA tournament from sixty eight schools to
(31:55):
seventy two or even seventy six teams.
Speaker 5 (31:57):
This could be made in time for the twenty twenty
six and seed a tarn dom met Now. Week fifteen
of the.
Speaker 7 (32:03):
Is IT Week fifteen. Yes, Week fifteen fifteen of the
NFL kicks off with Thursday night football.
Speaker 5 (32:08):
Forty nine Ers hosting the Rams.
Speaker 7 (32:09):
San Francisco will be without left tackle Trent Williams, running
back Isaac Garando dealing with a foot injury, defensive end
Nick Bosa. They were limited our practice on Wednesday. They
are considered questionable for the game. And lastly, here apparently
Bill Belichick is on the move. He's gonna be the
new head football coach at the University of North Carolina,
reportedly a five year deal, but it still needs to
(32:29):
be approved by the board of trustees. On Thursday morning,
on the ice two games Rangers, they edge the Sabers
three to two.
Speaker 5 (32:37):
Sabers have lost eight in a row, No bueno. The
Senators crushed the Ducks five to one. The Ducks have
lost four in a row. Guys, this was fun.
Speaker 7 (32:44):
Thanks about two again tomorrow you great things exactly Exit
o Bua Frasca, exit Swollen Dome.
Speaker 1 (32:50):
Coming up next, we'll preview the big TNF matchup with
the Rams and the forty nine ers. We'll give a
big shout out and do I have a great trivia
question for all of you. That's next, Jason to Mike Fox.
Speaker 2 (33:04):

Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 8 (33:15):
Let's see, let's see who's this.
Speaker 1 (33:27):
This could be a whole Christmas channel. Forget about fallon
Holiday and Holly on XM. This could be a whole channel.
Ye baby, Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with
Mike Harmon. Uh, we'll get to TNF give you our
picks for the Rams and the forty nine ers. Tomorrow
night coming up in a minute. But as you know,
Wednesday night is my wife's trivia night. She goes out
(33:47):
to trivia on Wednesday night. That's what she tells you.
And no, she's there because I well, I got all
these questions that I have to make up.
Speaker 3 (33:56):
Oh whoa whoa susan allegedly.
Speaker 1 (34:01):
So this was the final question of the night tonight,
and it was somewhat sports related.
Speaker 3 (34:08):
You ready, Okay, let's go now. They they came in
third tonight. They didn't get it right.
Speaker 1 (34:12):
That pretty good though, Metal stand Yeah, I did well,
lucky guest. Trivia here besides Checkers and Chess, what are
the six board games that are in the National Board
Game Hall of Fame in Rochester, New York?
Speaker 3 (34:30):
So six board six board games that are in the
Board Game Hall of Fame in Rochester, New York. Okay, Monopoly,
Monopoly very good? Monopoly is one. Oh, Grabble Scrabble, very good.
Speaker 1 (34:45):
That's two. The Game of Life, Life, that's three. Are
you guys are three for three? Yacht? No? No, not
YACHTSA yacht is a dice game. I don't even know
what that is. That's not in That's a Japanese game.
Not in Maybe in Japan. That's in the Hall of Fame.
Dungeons and Dragons. No, what about Clue? Clue? Very nice?
(35:09):
You are you're missing two Moreku?
Speaker 2 (35:12):
No?
Speaker 1 (35:12):
Sudoku is actually a different thing. Yeah. What is a
game about obtaining land? Risk? Risk? Very good? The game
of Global Domination of that game? You guys are missing
a game that I that I know, I did. We
all played. It's probably maybe the first board game Trouble.
(35:33):
We know. Trouble was great. No, it's not Trouble Game.
First board game. I'm sure we all played Shoots and Ladder,
all played this game, not Shoots the Ladder. Yeah, maybe
let's go candy Land.
Speaker 3 (35:46):
Candy Land, remember that just literally the first game I played.
Da haven't put katan in yet? Set it as a
katan No, it's not in. What about spin the bottle,
Spin the bottle? Min that's, by the way, different hall face.
You never played with people who buy multiple ones to
make a bigger one.
Speaker 1 (36:03):
Yeah, I played that once and it was really tough,
and then I really liked it at the very end.
Speaker 3 (36:09):
So fun like that was like once you pick it up,
you get strategic. Yeah yeah, yeah, what's like? Okay, boys,
a lot good go through, Like it takes a long time,
but because it takes a long time, so it starts
getting contentious.
Speaker 1 (36:19):
Yeah, and Mike, if you don't like somebody who's new
playing it, you cut them off the land right away.
Hell yeah, so fun. So there is your answer, Checkers, Chest, Clue, Bride, Life, Scrabble, Spiner, Bottle,
and candy Land. Again, that's a different.
Speaker 3 (36:33):
Hal but I mean that's that's cost efficient. Yeah, you
said spin the bottle and Monts just put two hands.
Speaker 1 (36:38):
I'm like, yeah, she's on the way, said on my way,
spin like seven minutes and having better than spin the bottle.
Let's see if we get a response off that one.
Not a not a board game? Really not no, not
a board game. Make sure that's more of a closet
game than a board game. That's a coat closet. It's
a closet board game. Jason, why are my coats all
over the place? I don't know, Mom, I don't know.
(37:00):
I don't I don't I went looking for my cowboy
boots By. I couldn't find him. I don't know. I
don't know. I don't know. I don't know. Uh so
let's now take a look. Oh, let's go with them all.
Shout out al Michaels, who was announced today he's going
to return for another year doing TNF and uh gonna
(37:21):
do a year by year thing, and congratulations and thank
you to al Michael's shout out because because of his
public complaining about how bad the games were last year,
we got a better slate of games on Thursday Night,
because he became the face of we got bad games
on Thursday and now Amazon said, yeah, give us better games.
And when a guy who is that much of a
(37:42):
legend says, hey, I don't fight keep doing these games.
They're too bad. Hey we get a better slate on Thursday.
We all win because al Michaels was fed up and
was disinterested last year.
Speaker 3 (37:53):
He did set a bad example, though he said no
Jets had he done that. They got jets in all
early on when people still thought.
Speaker 1 (38:01):
They were good. They're fine, they're fine.
Speaker 3 (38:03):
There's no more jets made when you always exactly asked
when Zoe was gwhining, no, you don't. Sometimes you gotta learn.
I love We got to get the Jets out of.
Speaker 1 (38:11):
Here, Jason, as it feel knowing Aaron Rodgers playing is
worse than when he wasn't. Uh is it worse? Yeah,
Jets are worst record now with him on than off
Zack attack. Yeah no, yeah, yeah yeah. But the Aliens
don't Aliens lasers. Rogers could see Aliens Friday night now
for the games we love in The Alien, Loving the Yeah,
(38:35):
the Alien. I think that's a movie that's on Cinemax. Okay,
you know so maybe no, well not anymore because Cinemax
isn't that channel anymore. Cinemax is like Legit now. Uh,
I'll take the Rams over the Niners. The Rams are hot,
they're healthy, their offenses rolling. The forty nine Ers are
(38:56):
not healthy. There's questions at running back. Roger Craig maybe
the starting running back for the forty nine ers tomorrow.
I know San Francisco's playing at home, but the Rams.
This is the Rams team we thought we were going
to see the beginning of the year. I'll take the Rams.
I'll take the three and a half points. I don't
think I'll need them, but I'll take them because they're
out there for.
Speaker 3 (39:14):
Me tomorrow now, three or three and a half, depending
on where you're shopping. The Bosa injury, Williams injury still
Patrick Taylor, go pick him up defensive move if nothing else,
even if you're not going to start him with Guerndo
being banged up. But I'll take the Rams playing too
well right now, offense gets after it exit.
Speaker 1 (39:35):
How about a Fresca exit Swollen Dome. The Jason Smith
Show with my best friend, Mike Harmon and Hamburger Coming
up next, my buddy Ben Mallor. This is Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (39:49):
Candyland
