Speaker 1 (00:30):
Hello, Welcome in side final hour tonight the Jason Smith
Show with my best friend Mike Harmon YO live from
the ti rack dot Com studios tirec dot com. I
help you get there an unmatched election, fast, free shipping,
free road hazard protection, over ten thousand recommended installers. Tirack
dot Com is the way tire buying should be. Now, really,
(00:52):
there's more and more evidence that this can happen. But
now I feel like I'm kind of getting elbowed out right,
because what if I said the entire time this offseason, Okay,
I need jj Reddick to get the Lakers under the
top six in the West, and he dug Gottlieb to
get the Phoenix into the NCAA Tournament, and then I
and then I could be the GM or head coach
(01:12):
of the Jets. I mean, manager of the Mets is
kind of out now that they haven't working pretty well.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
You wanted that guy fired a couple of times too.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
No, no, no, oh, you can't find it. Let's hear it.
Find it, Frost. You can't find anything. I can't use
it because it's a it's illegal for me to record
him without his permission.
Speaker 4 (01:35):
In Arizona.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
I thought it was also the profanities that were there
were tons of them.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
Stop there was not that's a promise, uh bullten bullpen management.
Speaker 3 (01:45):
But now I feel like, okay, there was Jets. There
was Okay a few times towards the end of the year.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
That's not the point. That's not the point.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
But you tried to dismiss it last hour, tried to
demean my intelligence.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
You called him a poop man. I didn't know you
find the tape on Matt. Find the tape on Matt.
Speaker 4 (02:04):
I'm gonna have to fire you.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
I'm gonna have to fire you. What was even talking about?
Oh so I thought potentially I could be the GM
or the head coach of the Jets. Happens everybody coming
from the broadcast booth to these big jobs. But now
Lewis Riddick might beat me to it. He's on ESPN
throwing out hot takes and he's one of the first
(02:27):
two guys gonna be interviewed for the GM job of
the Jets, Like, where's my interview?
Speaker 2 (02:32):
Man?
Speaker 3 (02:32):
Just just throwing it out here, And I'm not trying
to cut anybody off at the knees. I mean, Riddick
doesn't exactly. He's it's not a murderer's role right now.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
It's a rough.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
He could be the latest it's checkboxes going against you.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
I mean, the only thing that he's got over me
is that he was in the NFL, you know, so
there is that he wore a nice suit. I mean,
but I'm a better broadcaster. I mean, I've also tried
to talk like the Raiders had a good game plan.
I'm much they were terrible. I much more invested emotionally
in the outcome of the Jets, and I would be
another team.
Speaker 4 (03:08):
I think, can you sport one like him?
Speaker 2 (03:12):
Sure?
Speaker 1 (03:13):
Like that? Yeah you do. I wear a vest with
with with with no shirt on because I got good
I got good try, I got good triceps, so I
could do that. No I do. I have great triceps, dude.
You should see who. You should see the video that
we put up when we put up our best of
for Fox Sports Radio on Twitter. You should see sometime
when I wear the cutoff sleeves and my arms look
(03:33):
like my goodness, man, No we put your face on
Larry the cable Guy's body. Is your name made or too?
But I mean now I feel like Lewis rad has
jumped ahead of me. Now he's like jumped the line
in front of me to be Jets GM.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
Well, I mean he he was on the radar for
other jobs in the NFL in the past, and from
what we're seeing, and obviously we're doing the show, so
we've got limited exposure to the broadcast as it flows,
but certainly following social media as we do saying, you know,
some assessment of how he handled discussion of the Raiders,
(04:11):
the game plan, personnel and whatever else. Look, I get it, partners,
and you don't have to treat it with quite the
kid gloves. I mean, he was seemingly wearing you know,
Mickey Mouse sized gloves to talk about, you know, any
problems on their roster. I don't know that he could
be so kind to yours.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
I really, I mean I don't know why I don't
get a phone call. People get I should get a
phone call.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
Oh, I mean, look, we could put your resume out.
I mean they list it right, Yeah, I mean it's
not like the State College of New Jersey where they
have to post it for anybody.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
Why, Jason, what would you do? I would make sure
that we're in the playoffs next year? What would you do?
I would make trades like I was a fantasy owner
and I want to bring guys in and I don't care.
And if you stink, if you have a bad quarter
and a half, I'm gonna bench you. That's what I'm
gonna do.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
I hope we all survived your fantasy play on this
week one.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
We don't know that the GM does that. That's what
I do as a GM. That's that's gonna be me.
Speaker 3 (05:11):
Well, the deadline doesn't matter. Let's just get to work.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
No, Mike, I think the first thing he would do
is jet GM is lower the price on Hamburgers.
Speaker 3 (05:19):
Might be the case, did.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
I get free hamburg If I'm a GM, I get
free Hamburgers every day, free for.
Speaker 4 (05:24):
The people they're.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
David Montgomery I'm doing a lot of work. I need
the free burger, jets fans and fireman d Yeah, no, fireman.
I would have him, you know, I would have him
working somewhere in capacity in the office, like I would
have him doing something. Guy's he's a fireman. Yes, he
was a real fireman.
Speaker 4 (05:44):
That's the last time you put out a fire.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
I don't. I think he retired. I think he stopped
putting out And I would and I would make him
where the fireman's help all throughout. Some people know who
he was, Oh, it's fireman. He works it. Yeah, he does.
Got office right down the hall.
Speaker 3 (05:55):
And every time he walks into a room, the George
Strait classic fireman.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
Now, if he was putting out jets fired fires, he'd
be real busy.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
I would send another grease fire right over here.
Speaker 1 (06:04):
I was like, Okay, we got to figure something out here,
but let's get ready for this. Is everybody excited for
this meeting. And I would Okay, go get fireman. And
I would have a really big guy who would bring
him in on his shoulders so we can.
Speaker 3 (06:14):
Do this jet ring he does, cranking that up. And
here's another rhymal on fireman ed Yeah, now smooty you
got for us today?
Speaker 2 (06:25):
Ed?
Speaker 1 (06:26):
Now, speaking of things like, hey, it's fireman, don't call
me Ed. I'm not I'm not done. What if I
call you f e? No, no, no, I'm just I'm fireman.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
And I worked for a woman.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
I've had I've had my name officially changed. I'm now fireman.
Speaker 3 (06:39):
Ed a bad move on? Uh now, good branding?
Speaker 1 (06:44):
Speaking of crazy things happening in front offices and me
being the GM of the Jets. Yeah, how about this
the Troy Aikman through out there on the broadcast tonight,
he said the Bears should trade the forty nine ers
for Kyle Shanahan.
Speaker 3 (06:56):
Yeah, no, it's it's been floating out for a couple
of weeks.
Speaker 1 (06:59):
Yeah. Like but and here's the thing thought bubble for
all of for everybody who thinks, oh man, you know
coaches have you know the value of them, and you're
going to replace them all the way through. Kyle Shanahan's
a really good head coach. I would love to have
the problems of boy, we couldn't navigate the final few
minutes of the Super Bowl. I'd love to have that,
considering my team hasn't even sift the playoffs. Since before
(07:21):
I knew you guys, we figured out tonight. I didn't
know who any of you were the last time the
Jets made the playoffs. And we've been together doing the
show for eleven years. Didn't almost eleven years?
Speaker 3 (07:30):
You know me? But you had to know who I was,
I said, Hart, I've been in this business. Oh yeah,
but I mean but but I never actually did a
spot to get right.
Speaker 1 (07:37):
But but I didn't know you though. I wouldn't know bailed. Yeah,
and you came on the show and I came on.
He goes to sleep at like six pm. Yeah, but
I didn't know you then. I didn't know Frost proably
know any of you. That's the last time I made
the players. I'd love to have that problem. Like six
Oh yeah, I think Mary was in school yet, Mary,
you just turned what twenty two, twenty one, twenty one?
(07:59):
So no, you hated it in sixth grade? What year
that would have been? Ten years ago? Damn.
Speaker 4 (08:06):
The last time that Jets were good was nineteen sixty nine.
Speaker 1 (08:08):
Stop we went to back to back AFC time. It
sounds like millennials go, this guy lies in the radio.
They JITs didn't go back to back yeah, no, we
did in twenty eleven and two yeas.
Speaker 3 (08:16):
But see then when we bring it up to try
to commemorate it, now you dismiss it categorically.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
You mock six chair. It's so long, Ryan, it may
as well be Super Bowl three. That was so long ago.
It's like people that want to dismiss Sexy REXI. It's
so long.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
The Colts didn't play particularly well in that game. They
won the Super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
But what are you remember for?
Speaker 3 (08:38):
Prince played purple Rain in the rain at halftime, but
it's still a Super Bowl appearance by the Bears.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
Now, let's listen to Troy Aikman as he threw this
out there tonight about the Bears should trade the forty
nine ers for Kyle Shanahan.
Speaker 5 (08:52):
Thirtain whether or not they can be a head coach.
There has been discussion about you do you give up
some picks and see if you can maybe make a
deal for a guy like Kyle Shanahan. I would be
all in on that because he would develop a quarterback
and he's a hell of.
Speaker 1 (09:07):
The head coach.
Speaker 2 (09:08):
But can you pull that off?
Speaker 5 (09:10):
That's that's a better question. And who might you hire
that has no head coaching experience as an offensive guy,
you never know the answer to that.
Speaker 1 (09:19):
All right, So there's Ekman throwing that out there, and
that's a legit topic because you think about the importance
of a really good head coach and Kyle Shanahan who
is a really good head coach. But I can see
where the forty nine ers are saying, Okay, boy, maybe
we're at the top. Maybe his message is getting a
little stale. We have some things we have to do.
We have to blow up the roster because you know,
(09:39):
we have fifteen guys making twenty million dollars a year.
So yeah, maybe that would work for us. But I'm
telling you, I get it and I understand, but you don't.
I don't know that teams really and fans understand the
value of what it means to have a really good
head coach that can keep you in the conversation and
get you to the playoffs every year. Okay, think about
(10:01):
what think about the Chargers from last year to now?
Right from Brandon Staley, dude, what are you doing going
for it on fourth down? The Chargers were a lost
franchise and what happened in one year? Here's Jim Harbaugh
back and guess what, they got a two game lead
on the playoffs and if they win Thursday, they're gonna
get in. This is what Harball has been able to
do in a year, and it's amazing. Look at Sean Payton.
(10:23):
All Saints had to give up. The Saints had to
get a first round pick for Sean Payton. You think
you think that's worth it. Sean Payton has the Broncos
going to the playoffs right now in one season. I'm
turning them, I'm turning the page on on on Russell Wilson,
I'm doing all of these things. Doesn't matter. But look
at Sean Payton now in Denver and bow Nis is
playing really well and he's got just a bunch of
guys that are playing with bow knicks. And look at
(10:44):
where they're They're still scoring a bunch of points. Feel
like they're winning every game sixteen to seven because a
great defense. They're scoring tons of points and they're winning.
I mean, you see the value of Sean Payton, right,
I mean, this is just how it goes. And Sean
McVay doesn't need draft picks. They we give up draft
picks for it. If you're the Bears like that, scenario
is out there. First of all, if I'm the Niners,
I would never do it. But if I'm the Bears, yeah,
what do you want? We got everything we need on
(11:05):
this team. We need a coach, we need to we
need some kind of leadership because that's how we're going
to go forward. That's how teams build great teams. When
you are some of the three most important positions. I
always say owner, general manager slash president of operations, head
coach slash manager. When you can get those three things
all solved, guess what, you can do a lot of
great things. And this would solve the biggest problem that
(11:28):
the Bears have. Yeah, okay, if the Niners really don't
like the fact that, ay, we've been to the super Bowl,
where win you this is a tough year because you've
had a lot of injuries. If they're done, hey, we'll
take them. I'll give you a first round pick for
Kyle Shanan one hundred percent. Oh, there's no question about it.
Speaker 3 (11:43):
It's really more a decision, you know, Shanahan, Lynch and company.
Do they still have a cohesive vision? Where do they
all stand in the brock Purty world, Because there's gonna
be a lot of thought pieces and monologues and everything
about what he is and isn't as a quarterback and
(12:03):
reminding everybody in our business, as I'm sure it's relayed
throughout the National Football League is there are very few
coaches that stand out like that. That's why there's a
constant cycling out. It's not it's not by coincidence. There
are very few that can do that job and do
it well. You know, it's always been a CEO job
(12:26):
with hands on more on one side of the ball
than the other. I mean, we've watched that, but how
many guys are consistently great and don't burn out? Hell
Sean McVay. You know, if you believe the reports almost
walked away a couple of years ago, right in the
midst of the first real trying season that he had
Sean Payton suspended bountygate, Believe what you will out of that.
(12:50):
You have the rough year last year with Russell Wilson
and May had a couple of games that could have
gone in the balance. This year, you've got a guy
bon Nicks and even early this year they had their
growing pains. Even in recent weeks, you've got big thought
pieces in Denver all right, is the offense really there? Well,
(13:10):
but you're building a culture for San Francisco. They've got
inside has run its course because of age and everything
else where, Is Kyle Shanahan need a reset? And for
the Bears, who's the GM and ay Ryan Poles? I
mean they kept showing him in the booth. I kept
waiting to see what he was drawn and doodling on
the piece of paper, staring off into space most of
(13:32):
the time. And Kevin Warren, Do I trust he's building
anything of consoling because that's the other part, right, kind
of want to go there? I've Kyle Shanahan. I don't
know that I do, as much as I may want
to go work with Caleb Williams and what you've built
with parts of that offense, there's still a lot about
vision cohesion and where you're headed. That are giant ass
(13:53):
riddler suit wearing question marks along the way, and Kevin
Warren is certainly one of them as well. Uh So, yeah,
that that's it's it's great and great in theory, But
if I'm the forty nine ers, am I getting.
Speaker 4 (14:07):
Rid of him?
Speaker 3 (14:08):
No?
Speaker 1 (14:09):
Who am I finding?
Speaker 3 (14:10):
That's better? It's the Ryan Day question. It's the Tomlin
question annually it's like, well, this is how far we go?
Speaker 1 (14:16):
Well, what are you getting without him?
Speaker 3 (14:18):
John Harbaugh had that for a run over in Baltimore.
Are you running him?
Speaker 1 (14:23):
Like?
Speaker 3 (14:24):
What the hell is better telling you finding there's.
Speaker 1 (14:27):
The teams that have had a large amount of success
but have not been to the top of the mountain
find it easy to say, well, we're always going to
be good. We have everything we need. We just need
a new coach to get that. And they don't understand that.
The other two thirds of the league are saying, Oh,
you really think it's that easy, give us your coach,
we'll be We'll be more than happy to let you
go and try to find somebody who's better. That's how
(14:48):
I mean, trust me, too many people think that way
if they're sick a Kyle Shannan, I wut the Jets
to call for him? Why not? Why would you not?
Oh he's not picking up that call. No, I mean, look,
we're getting Mike Rabel, So I mean I I've already
s Mike Rabel. Yeah, exit out out a Fresco exit

Never mind, never mind nothing, It's all good. Prink caller,
prank caller, prank caller. The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmen,
Lifemthtirack dot Com Studios. Now we'll get to a quarterback
and quite honestly should have played his last game of
twenty twenty four tonight. Yeah, but big story in the
NFL today The Lions are losing everybody. Yeah, absolutely true
(16:36):
enough thanks to you, the big shed. It's not my fault,
thanks to you, but not my fault. We look to
the Super Bowl. We interviewed David Montgomery last week and
he got bring and he got hurt. I say, we
they called you. You put him up and said, hey,
talk to him. What am I gonna do? Not talk
to him?
Speaker 4 (16:50):
It was all good.
Speaker 1 (16:52):
It was at the end. I didn't know he was
a vegan. Sorry, not in my purview to have to
know if someone's a vegan or not. And uh, that's terrible.
You should do a you should do an appearance. You
and Jimier Gibb should do an appearance. Is Sonic and
knuckles at a Sonic Burger in Detroit because there's lots
of them, And he said, yeah, I don't know about that.
And Frostburg thinks, like I told him to go blank himself.
Speaker 4 (17:14):
Oh I don't think this, this is this is no
what is it?
Speaker 6 (17:18):
Why would you not research like the person you're gonna
interview or who's gonna come?
Speaker 1 (17:22):
Okay, I know should research okay? Seconds really what what?
What is? What is? FROs has something very specific about diary.
Dairy diary. Can't do what it's a diary, a diary
actually injury. He writes it every night. People to kill
(17:43):
Mary mack right, just like.
Speaker 6 (17:45):
That is that's so sick. Yeah, I see, I know
about Frostburg. Do you know the thing that I can't have?
Speaker 1 (17:52):
Uh wow, there's so many things in my head.
Speaker 6 (17:55):
You see how Mike caught that.
Speaker 4 (17:57):
What's Mary's kryptonite?
Speaker 1 (18:00):
Mary scryptonite is meat? Good good music? Oh wow?
Speaker 6 (18:07):
He sits here and plays emo music, and I don't
say anything Emo emo music, and I don't say anything.
Speaker 1 (18:17):
I don't think.
Speaker 3 (18:18):
That's a whole other world. You're not anymore, You're not
in here.
Speaker 1 (18:21):
He plays emo music? What does he play? What do
you play? It is real like Greney like, oh sus
really not sad it is.
Speaker 6 (18:34):
It's so like emo like it's kind of like trailer
trash music.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
Whoa whoa Emo Frostburg, that's his nickname now Emo Frostburg.
The Adventure beginning.
Speaker 4 (18:47):
I only play iHeart Top ten music.
Speaker 1 (18:49):
That's good?
Speaker 6 (18:50):
That's good?
Speaker 1 (18:50):
Is cap and who your top five artists are on
Spotify for the year and a one hundred percent.
Speaker 6 (18:55):
Asking Alexandria right, who see? You don't know because you
don't know Emo, I don't know who Alexandria is. Asking Alexandria, Oh,
who is that? What do you want to ask her?
Speaker 7 (19:06):
What?
Speaker 3 (19:07):
Here's what I'm meaning?
Speaker 1 (19:08):
You know the answers. Okay, that's like saying, like, what's
Victoria's secret? I don't know what is it? I don't
know it's our secret? What is it? It's our secret?
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (19:17):
I'm not.
Speaker 1 (19:20):
You Blake, and I thought you say my name is
Bennett and I ain't in it. I thought that's what
you're gonna say.
Speaker 3 (19:25):
Wow, escalating questions.
Speaker 1 (19:28):
Let's talk about campbelling because with the injuries to the
various lines, not my fault.
Speaker 3 (19:35):
Uh. Look, they found it Jenks to lose death stop.
Speaker 1 (19:37):
I did not. They lost David Montgomery for the year today,
likely for the year with the knee injury. They've lost
other players throughout the year. They had three defensive linemen
coming back yesterday and it was going to be fantastic.
They lost a couple more today McNeil is out as well,
and look, Dan Campbell talked about it, saying, hey, this
is the time of year where there's you know, look,
it sucks for the guys, obviously because it does, but
(19:58):
this is where for younger guys, guys who want an opportunity,
it's that time. And yeah, I get it because that's Look,
that's how the NFL is. Guys get hurt in December
and this is time for someone to step up and
get a chance. This is how it works. It sucks
when people get hurt, it always does, but this is
just part of how it goes in the NFL. I'm
not that concerned about the Lions injuries because look, they've
(20:19):
been winning with the injuries the last few weeks. They
ran into a red hot Bills team yesterday and Josh
Allen and they started out slow because look, when you've
won nine games in a row, it's yeah, we got it,
do wri Our offense is so good, we can start
out slow. Well, they realize you can't start out down
fourteen nothing. The game was pretty even after that, but
that was the game. You're down fourteen nothing, can't stop
the Bills. Oh wait a minute, So I think so.
(20:40):
I expect the Lions to be sharper and more button
down the rest of the way because they had the
reality check a day ago. I'm not that concerned about
the injuries. Other teams have injuries. They're still on track.
They can still get there and get all the games
throughout the playoffs at Ford Field. The bigger question and
the biggest thing, as I'm telling you right now, this
Lion season is gonna end. And with us talking about
(21:01):
the game the day after saying, can you believe Dan
Campbell did that? Because that decision X cost them the game?
He decides to go for the on side kick yesterday
early in the fourth quarter, and it's a game that
it's a decision that basically handed the game to the Bills.
There's still over ten minutes left to go. The lines
get it down to within two scores. They were down ten.
Hey we're gonna onside kick. Ooh okay, maybe I get
(21:25):
you're not stopping him, but you got to stop him
at some point to get back in the game. So
you know, really you want to on side kick there?
What happens? They don't get it. The Bills wind up
returning the kick all the way down to the three
yard line. Look, there's only been three on side kicks
were covered all season long. You can't sit here and
tell me that's a better play than trying to play
defense and trying to get off the field. At some point,
eventually you're gonna have to stop them. You can't keep
(21:47):
her lying on side again. It's worked three times all year. Okay,
this is not a high percentage play. This is not
even a low percentage play. This is almost a zero
percent play. And this is what we're gonna do to
try to win the game. And what happened instead of
getting him back in it, which was Dan Campbell's plan
and wound up costing in the game because at that point,
the Bills went back up by three scores and it
was over. This is how the Lion season is going
(22:09):
to end with Dan Campbell making a decision full of hubris,
a gut instinct, and attitude that's going to kill them
because this is how he makes decisions of going for
it on fourth down. We always do it this way.
We always Yeah, you know what, I can go back
to the NFC title game last year and say, hey,
this always going for it on fourth down? How did
that work out for you right when you gamble, And
(22:30):
these are gambles. These are not plays, These are not
high percentage plays. These are not Hey, the gamble works
here because we have a sixty five percent chance succeeding.
You had what a four percent chance succeeding with an
on side kick and a cost of the game. Dan
Campbell makes decisions based on his gut, based on I
believe in my guys, which is great, but not all
fourth down calls and on side kicks are created equally,
(22:52):
and his propensity to do this again, their risks for
a reason. They're called gambles for a reason. It means
they don't pan out. And just like last whereas Gamble's
didn't pan out with him losing in the winning the
NFC Title game, he's not learned his lesson. He's more
gambling this year. And I guarantee you the Lion season
will come to an end. We'll be talking about it
the day after the game. Can you believe Dan Campbell
(23:14):
did this questionable thing and it cost them in the playoffs?
And now so and so is going on to the
Super Bowl, or so and so is going on to
the NFC Title Game. That's how the Lion season is
going to end because Dan Campbell clearly shows I've not
learned this lesson or no one to gamble, no one
to do it, but I'm going to keep doing things
like this. That's who he is, all right.
Speaker 3 (23:32):
It's part of the reason of the culture that you've
built the belief that you're always going to get the bounce,
make the play and get things right. In this case,
some of it's calculated into what your defense really hadn't
been able to do all day, and now the war
of attrition has hit that you need to come up
(23:52):
with something to change and change the tide and getting
back to ten. Great, you'd forced one part hunt the
entire game, right, you had a miss field goal and
then you had the end of the half. Those are
the only other two times that you'd been able to
stop the Bills. Otherwise they'd run roughshot on you. Like,
let's use it because it was Saturday Night's made event,
(24:14):
Hulke Mania in the eighties. Okay, that was the Bills
offense and that's the way they're operating. So part of
that and look, you heard it in the quote, that's
been making the rounds going. Well, maybe not the best
because it took one play for the Bills to find
the end zone, and then you're chasing that much more.
I defend it only in the fact that for Dan Campbell,
(24:37):
that's the culture you're building, that's the identity that you're
going to push the margins. And even going back to
the playoff game last year, make a play right, you
had a guy make a play Reynolds and all that
that you were trying to do a year ago, and
that's how it could end that way. I don't know
(24:57):
that it's going to because I think at this point,
bar a sudden miraculous return of a number of these players,
you're not gonna have enough guys to go in and
not get get blasted by Philadelphia in their current form's
not coming back not well. But I mean so now
(25:18):
you've got, you know, the next man up, and Jamiir
Gibbs has been fantastic and we'll need to continue to
do so. And unfortunately for Jared Goff, he's now a
statistic of the worst game, best game and those kind
of things wins and losses along the way. Uh. But
I'll defend Dan Campbell for for staying true to the
identity that he's built and will it cost him. I'd
(25:41):
rather be in that position that what I'm in. Oh,
that's in hell. But we're talking.
Speaker 1 (25:46):
We're talking about a team that Look, this is where
we're talking about a team in the top one tenth
of one percent of teams in the NFL, and it's
this I can this is how their season is going
to end with Dan Campbell. I'm smarter than everybody else,
and I'm gonna do this when it's whoa dude? Not
all fourth down on sidekick gambles are created equal. And
you lost the game here against the Bill. Okay, that's great,
(26:06):
but man, it's different to do this in week thirteen,
week fifteen than it is in the NFC title. And
you know he's gonna do it. And when you're doing
against a really good team, you give them momentum back,
you make a big play, you can't come back from.
Tell them that to how other season ended last year,
it's gonna end that way this year.
Speaker 3 (26:21):
Well, I say it was because on the ensuing possession,
the defense sucked and didn't do their job. Seven plays,
seventy yards. That was a bit as big a debacle
as the lack of a fourth down execution. But your
point's well taken and it may very well come down
to that. And for the city of Detroit, you better
(26:41):
hope it doesn't. Because David Montgomery not being there too late,
this is gonna be on you. I will give DJ
Reader credit though, Like in the Postgame, being asked about
all this stuff, he just goes, Dude, we've been kicking
everybody's ass for all these weeks. It finally happened to us.

Just make it a good one. Maybe maybe maybe, said him,
it's I love the way you talk. That's what I'd
like to be a remake like him and Rihanna remake
that that I love the way you talk.

Give me a beat, Mary, give me a beat.
Speaker 1 (27:29):

you said the artist's name said, oh, plane or peanut,

The Raiders have lost ten straight. They are two and
twelve this year, the Jean Robinson one hundred and twenty

the Chargers will host Denver, and this Sunday's Patriots at

Wake Forest coach Dave Clausen resigned. In the NBA late game,
the Clippers whipped Utah one forty four to one oh seven.

Back to you, and don't forget Steve Darvin Ham still

the e Cup.
Speaker 7 (31:47):
Milwaukee in the final. Well, you know Doc rivers in
big games. Sure, sure, sure, Once that Ham's record in
the Double Cup. I had a great line, but then
if I said it, no one would hear it. We'd
have to dump it. I had a great line, but
I don't know time.
Speaker 8 (32:09):
Of the day.
Speaker 1 (32:10):
We are going No, I'm not gonna say no. No,
Moving on, moving on. Coming up next, a tale of
two Quarterbacks. We get to Josh Allen and the only
way to stop him and the quarterback who should probably
lose his job after tonight. That's next, Jason and Mike Fox,
Steve de Seger, please stand up.

(33:03):
Josh Allen.
Speaker 3 (33:04):
Two quarterbacks.
Speaker 1 (33:06):
You know we talked about the Dan Campbell the Lions aspect,
and look Josh Allen again with another incredible performance on Sunday.
He's single handedly winning fantasy championships for people. He's a
wizard fifty points each of the last couple of weeks.
The best way to stop him, I know, you stop him,
but the best way to beat the bills right now?
(33:27):
And it sounds like a weird thing, but this is,
this is just is what makes Josh Allen the version
of himself that he has been, which is the best
version of Josh Allen.
Speaker 3 (33:38):
Yeah, in the last three four weeks right of play,
he's thirty points ahead of the next highest fantasy quarterback
and that's including their bye week.
Speaker 1 (33:47):
Yeah, he has been. He has been incredible. The best
way to survive Josh Allen is to number one stop
him as a runner. I know it's weird, say way
you want to stop a quarterback is a runner, yes,
because if you can keep him in the pocket. I
don't mean you have to sack. I mean you have
to keep him in the pocket and make him throw
from the pocket. The Bills are still gonna score a
(34:08):
lot of points. They're still gonna do it, but you
have a better chance at this point of doing that
and winning because when you if you make Josh Allen
a pocket quarterback and make him throw, yes, he's gonna
move up and down the field, but he's gonna get
a little frustrated. He's gonna try to force playmaking, which
is what he does, and he's gonna give you the
ball a couple of times a game. He's gonna turn
the ball over. He's gonna make throws he shouldn't because
right now, when you are running this offense where you're
(34:30):
trying to stop everything the Bills are doing, Josh Allen
is just this is this is him in peak form,
the confidence level he is playing at, whether it's a
designed run for him or something where it's hey, you know,
it's a it looks like it looks like a play
that breaks down, but meanwhile it's just hey, by time
for a second and then take off right he had
that big flip for a touchdown to Dalton Kincaid. Where
(34:52):
is a Mahomes tight pass where it got called back
for penalty yesterday where you can tell that's what he's
feeling right now. That's the level of confidence. You have
to stop a quarter back from playing with that level
of confidence. And if you can keep him from not running,
because those are the plays that kill other teams, if
you can play them and make them a traditional team,
they're still really good. It's going to be very difficult.
Bills are the best team in the AFC right now.
(35:13):
But it's the only way to really slow him down
because when he is feeling every fiber of his game,
he's impossible to stop. If you can take away the
running aspect of it and make him throw, they're still
gonna score a lot of points, but potentially he could
have a bad game. He'll give you the football. That's
the only way to stop him right now. Yeah, the evolution,
he's cut down on turnovers. It's one of the big
(35:33):
hallmarks of what this season has become is taking care
of the football, and in these last four weeks in particular,
take aside the game against San Francisco where.
Speaker 3 (35:44):
That just got out of hand, right. Otherwise, you're looking
at the rushing totals have been much higher, three double
digit rushing attempt games, which he had none prior to
that stretch, Prior to that date with Kansas City. That
was the first time that you pushed forward and he
really started to say, okay, now it's my time.
Speaker 1 (36:07):
Right.
Speaker 3 (36:07):
It's like we always watched the Warriors for years, you
and I do in the show here, and it seemed
like they would sleep walk through I don't know, the
first two and a half quarters of a game, and
then it was more or less let's go to Gladiator,
the original. I haven't seen the second one yet. It's
I'm the agenda for the weekend. But you know at
my signal on leash, hell, that's kind of what Steve
Kurr would do. Hey, Steph Clay, you guys are ready,
(36:28):
all right, let's go on a run. And it seems
like Josh Allen with this point in the season that
that's where he's at. And part of it was the
attrition to the wide receiving course. So we'll see with
Kincaid back Coleman, mag all of these things that maybe
you go back to a little of what we saw
the first half of the season. But way he's playing
right now, Yeah, you got to do everything that you
can to contain him. But also remember if he does
(36:49):
come to the outside, he'll run through your ass, So
you can't come at it at like most quarterbacks like
they're gonna soft shoe it towards he'll run. But just
he will, he will get frustrated and press more if
he's not able to run, if he's got to stay
in the pipes set and not sak just keep him
in the pocket. That's the only way to win. Now,
the other quarterback, let's get to Kirk Cousins had run
(37:10):
because let's be honest, watching him play tonight, he's not
even moving well like he's not. He looks like he
is done and completely washed. Even Aaron Rodgers is moving better.
He let the jetson rushing yesterday. Even Rodgers at the
end of a season where he's coming back off a
devastating injury, looks better than Kirk Cousins, who was also
coming off a devastating injury. He threw for one hundred
(37:31):
and fifteen yards tonight, and he had some bad passes.
He's not dynamic. It's his first touchdown pass in five weeks.
And I'm sorry if you gave him a lot of money.
And there's a little bit of buyer's remorse on this.
But you're seven and seven. You have a chance the playoffs, right,
it's an outside chance. You need stuff to happen in
front of you, but you're alive. You have a chance
(37:51):
to do this. And I've seen how the offense is.
You barely beat the Raiders who were done in tanking
for Shador Sanders. You barely beat the race. Make the
quarterback change to Michael Pennick Junior. It's why you drafted him.
Speaker 1 (38:05):
He's had fourteen week fifteen weeks to sit and watch
and get it. He's had enough time to get healthy
coming off his injuries that he finished the end of
last year within college. Give the offense a spark. You
have underachieved the entire season, and I know how it's
gonna go the next couple You're gonna try to win
with duct tape and gum and try to eke out
(38:25):
wins over bad teams. Don't do it, you'r event you're
invariably going to lose. It's gonna end the season and
your team is gonna say, what did you just do?
Everybody knows they're moving on from Kirk Cousins after this year.
They're finding some way to move on. They'll figure the
money out. But do a favor for your team.
Speaker 4 (38:40):
Now.
Speaker 1 (38:40):
I get it's a tough decision to make because it's
three weeks left in the playoffs. But you want to
get in. Cousins isn't doing it. Go to Michael Pennick Junior.
You will spark the team and maybe you will find
something offensively. We go to the great philosopher of our time,
Nino Brown. Always business, never personal. You may love Captain
Kirk maybe a great guy in the locker room, may
(39:02):
love his wardrobe, and you respect his history. However, the
game is being played right now. You're at seven and seven,
fighting for your playoff lives. You eke out this win,
and we've seen what he is. You had that wide
open throw to Drake London. That was great.
Speaker 3 (39:17):
That might as well have happened three months ago. But
the way that game he made, it's not going to
get easy. The way the game down like he's not
moving latterly at all. The throws are errant and you've
got receivers and weapons for days by Jean Robinson can
only carry you so far. He and Tyler Algier as
your backup. I mean Robinson had one hundred and twenty
(39:38):
five yards on the ground today. He's been good in
the past game whatever, Michael Pennix Junior, why would you
have drafted him otherwise? No, this is what you wait
to get. It's just some cost on Kirk Cousins contract.
It's time to see what the kid has because if
you're telling me he's not ready, then you got a
whole other world to hurt that you're dealing with Behind
(39:58):
the scenes.
Speaker 1 (39:58):
You'll figure out the money and how You're gonna trade
Kirk Cousins in the offseason because you were gonna do
it anyway. You just got to do it three weeks early.
