Speaker 1 (00:31):
Greetings, Welcome inside, Happy Wednesday, The Jason Smith Show with

Com studios tyrack dot com. Hope you get there at
unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free road hazard protection, and
over ten thousand recommended installers tyrack dot com. He is
(00:51):
the way tire buying should be. We are all on
La Bowl overload right now. Mike Harmon, how much money
did you gamble on this game tonight? That's it? Okay,
that's like that's like five large, Like you want to say, right, yeah,
we want like that's five large.
Speaker 3 (01:07):
Well, I mean, look, Grondkowski's involved. UNLV may have four
or five players that they started the season with playing. Yeah,
you've got the logo on the on the field for
cal of well, we were kind of a pack twelve team,
so it's all that kind of excitement. And look, you
know me, I celebrate bowl season unlike anybody else, Like
(01:30):
what do you do well, I mean there's festivities to
all of it, Like what do you do, Like do
you have stuff during the day you do do you
go to like today animal or something? Yeah, I know
today I made a giant pod of chicken soup.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
Do you have like your own like Hallmark movie thing
where it's Bowl season? But hey, you're looking for love
and you find someone who moves back to town that you
either knew or dated in Oh.
Speaker 3 (01:52):
Wait, is this a movie I'm watching or that I'm trying.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
No, this is your life like part of the celebrating
Bowl season, like like the Hallmark movie, like the whole
Chiefs thing, right, Like you celebrate the La Bowl. But
here you are, you know, it's it's it's the holidays.
You're alone. You know, you don't have any family or
they don't talk to you, and you know you're a
chef and you do the show with me, and you know,
of course, like somebody really good looking would play me,
like like the Rock would play me or something, and
(02:16):
it would be you know, you trying to find you
know it, and all of a sudden, Hey, you know,
a woman that you went to college with moves back
to town. You didn't call it bowling for love, Yes, exactly,
except because people would think it's about bowling, but instead
it's about actually college.
Speaker 3 (02:29):
What if there's one scene where we go to a
local bowl O rama so and here but no, no, no,
but here's the thing. No, but here here, here's the catch.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
Normally in the Hallmark movies, it's like you need to like,
you get put in charge of a fall festival. You
don't know, Oh my god, who you know? No one's
I've been here. No, it's got someone got to ask
me to.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
Do You saw how they did it the actual Chiefs movie.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
Yeah, yeah, no, but I'm saying you watch that something something.
I haven't watched that one yet. But you told me enough.
You You've told me enough about But yeah, you have
like a fall festival or you have there's something happening
in the town and you know one of you, you are,
the person you're you're going to be with, is a
veterinarian and they move back to their practice. Now whatever is.
But here's the thing. You're in LA and you know,
(03:13):
maybe you're college Northwestern somehow is in the ball game
and they ask you to plan a whole bunch of
alumni stuff. But it's really not your milieu. But it's
a big chance for you to do this. But you
didn't know. Unbeknownst to you, this woman that you dated
in college that was really smart moves to LA and
she's the one that you have to work with to
help put this ball on. And of course there's you know,
(03:34):
there's fireworks in the beginning. The breakup is a big thing.
Then you get together as the bowl game gets closer,
and the final scene is you watching from you know,
the La Bullets sofi and they make it look like
there's a lot of people at the game and everything,
and you know, you know, you share a kiss and
it's suddenly like, oh hey, now look you found you
found purple love somewhere in Los Angeles.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
I think that's a subset of websites you can get to.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
That's a movie. Man, that's a movie right there. No,
that works, that's the movie.
Speaker 3 (04:01):
Now, my general hatred of people would keep me from really.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
Being it's about people falling in love. So you actually
have to like at least one more person. One more person.
You like one persons and a dog. Then you're okay.
Then you seem like but you gotta be you gotta
like at least one other person. These Hallmark movies about
getting together, it's not about hey, I'm alone for Christmas.
Speaker 4 (04:21):
No.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
One of the things we would have to harvest in.
This is going back to the fun and exciting adventure
that was COVID nineteen when we had the cardboard cutouts
of people that were in the stands. So it's about
harvesting those and maybe I find a connection that way.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
Okay, all right, I think that's good.
Speaker 3 (04:39):
Someone decides they want to be front and center, so
their hubris is something that is an attractive quality.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
Okay, I mean it could be either, you know, but
you have to like somebody. There's got to be a
dog involved, some kind of has to be. It could
be a pet, It could be a ferret, it could
be it could be a pigeon.
Speaker 3 (04:58):
It could be a cad kind of like we leave
thenios at night. They're usually a little pack of coyotes, Yeah,
trying to get over by the loco garbage band.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
Maybe usually we've had that a couple of times. Maybe
that's something maybe some raccoon. No, that's a bonding thing
for you and her as you bond over like, hey,
we have to get these animals away from where the
players are coming up from. Okay, yeah, and that's the
whole thing, and they get rid of the coyote.
Speaker 3 (05:19):
Celebrate the trash band is a little bit yeah, yeah, yeah,
and there's we do that.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
There's a coyote love joke in there somewhere. And then okay,
it looks like, you know, harmon is okay coyote.
Speaker 3 (05:29):
Yeah, it really took a deep dark turn right there.
Not quite sure what what kind of internet you're working
off or what holiday holiday holiday movies. I mean, you've
been watching the you know, David Harbor and all those.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
Lifetime movie where things get a little more dark in
Lifetime than they do on Hallmark. That's for sure, got
to keep it light, way more dark.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
And then you have what's that other one the one
that Cameron Cameron Cameron, No, what's your vase?
Speaker 1 (05:59):
That I was on Full House?
Speaker 3 (06:01):
Candice Cameron Burr Candace camera, Yes, yeah, that she defected to. Oh,
it's got more religious heritage Heritage movie.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
Is life lifelong life lock, I don't know, like LifeLock.
That would be something I've fallen and I can't get. No,
I don't know. It's it's I don't know. But it's
one of those things, one of those places. It's not
it's like heritage, I forget. But now, hey, speaking of
finding and the reason why I brought this up.
Speaker 3 (06:29):
Here, finding love, finding opportunities in all the different places
you can.
Speaker 1 (06:33):
Right. Sometimes sometimes love is there when you're least looking
for it, right.
Speaker 3 (06:38):
Oh, and when you're looking for love in all the
wrong places?
Speaker 1 (06:40):
Yeah, no, fine, girls, doesn't uh you know, I think
about that scene from the beginning of of uh Love
Actually when you graduately we realized love is all around us.
He's doing the you want to see what love is
go to the heath through the apartment of the Heathrow
departure at the airport, and when.
Speaker 3 (06:57):
He grab his character from heretic and there was much.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
Or layer of the whiteworm either one, and uh, you know,
he does the whole thing about it. And the funny
thing is when we went to London this year, like
we actually went, I wanted to go buy the arrivals
gated hethrow because.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
We love her.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
Actually, so we walked by there. Uh think about this
for this moment because the report today like we spent
a lot of time on this last night that Kirk
Cousin's hitting the bench from Michael Penick Junior right, And
according to reports, Michael Penix Junior was at a Costco
enjoying a hot dog when he got the news that
(07:30):
he was going to be the new starting quarterback of
the foul Well.
Speaker 3 (07:32):
Remember he doesn't have a three hundred million dollar deal yet.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
No.
Speaker 3 (07:35):
I mean, look, frugality and being smart with your your
rookie deal and I'll tell you this, and getting into
the food court is a good move.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
The way inflation has hit us the last few years.
You were complaining last night you bought me a chicken
thigh and it was three ninety nine. I'm like, yes,
it is a lot of money for a chicken thig
from Opoyo Loko.
Speaker 3 (07:53):
I wasn't really complaining, it was just kind of I
hadn't bought the chicken, like we hadn't gone there. I
love the chicken, I love the well I do, but
I make I make a lot of chicken dishes.
Speaker 1 (08:03):
And having just bought that killed you to say three
ninety nine on a one chicken.
Speaker 3 (08:08):
Thigh for me, Well, because I literally just bought a
giant pack of chicken breass from the local market for
eleven dollars and that was probably what seven or eight
sizeable chicken breas versus that mini thigh that you got
that cost me.
Speaker 1 (08:28):
A third of it. No, hey, you know, it's just fine.
You enjoyed the hell out of it, So that's all
that mattered. The chicken.
Speaker 3 (08:35):
You were positive and you got good value out of that.
So I can't compare.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
And I got to say, in the era that we
have right now of inflation, the one place where prices
have stayed the same is the Costco food courture So
you want to go and save money and everything else. Man,
He's gonna remember forever when I found out I was
a starting quarterback in the NFL, I was having a
hot dog at Costcos. You know how many hot dogs
at Costcos I've enjoyed, not had a moment like that,
(09:00):
Like that's his hallmark movie moment of his career. I'll
always remember this hot dog. I will always remember this well.
When they game. The starting quarterback of the Atlanta Falcons.
I was having this hot dog because the hot dogs
are pretty good. I wish they would put cheese. You
can get cheese on them. But yeah, you get the
hot dog, you can get onions mustard.
Speaker 5 (09:18):
You.
Speaker 1 (09:20):
Yeah, Like I am there and and look, I go
to Costa all the time, and I always get like,
I'll either get a hot dog. I'll get a hot
dog and a piece of pizza. I mean it's something
to go there and say, yeah, I'm gonna have a
you know, my wife and I will go say, okay,
I'm gonna have two slices of pizza, a hot dog,
a salad, and two drinks. Now that'll be eight dollars
and eighty three cents. Yep, there you go, right, frozen
(09:40):
moa drink. Oh yeah, it's fantastic. The chicken bake. But
being the chicken bake is good too.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
Because that whether you're gonna get that or the double
chunk chocolate ship cookie.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
Oh no, I always see it. All of a sudden,
you're in the rizzler land. It's always pizza and and
the or and a hot dog or the chicken bake.
Because the chicken bake is huge.
Speaker 3 (10:00):
You know, the full pizza is about a good of
value as you're gonna find. Yeah, like to ten dollars.
Speaker 1 (10:03):
But here's here's Mike.
Speaker 3 (10:04):
I can't eat it right now, but it's a good.
Speaker 1 (10:07):
Michael Penis Union who is still oh by the way,
you know, thinking about saving money. It's not like the
guy's making no money. You know, rookie contract number eight
over and all your other deals that you've been able
to do. But this having a hot dog when you
find out this is what day? What day did your
life change? I was at Costco having a hot dog,
and I knew my life would never be the same.
Speaker 2 (10:27):
Now.
Speaker 3 (10:27):
It's funny because it coincided with a release today of
a pretty uh high end UH trading card product that
that people wait on every year. And I watched a
guy from our local shop. I want to see what
it is? Uh, you know what what kind of the
the frequency and the odds are and the first box
dude open four packs in boom Panix autograph number forty nine. Wow,
(10:51):
it's almost like it was predestined.
Speaker 1 (10:52):
Nice, I dig that. I dig that. Yeah, and now
you have now? Then now the Costco now is at
Costco having a hot dog?
Speaker 4 (10:58):
Guys, Yeah, you have them now how long before they
do the hot the piece of hot dog insert though
into the card.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
Michael, Oh, that'd be really good.
Speaker 3 (11:06):
I've been waiting for the I mean there was a
Joey Chestnut card a couple of years ago, but they
did not do any game used close because, let's face it,
they were gonna be you. Not though this is this
is part of the This is part of one of
the buns.
Speaker 4 (11:18):
Oh, you can't tell the NFL story, or at least
the Falcon story without this.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
No, it's true.
Speaker 3 (11:25):
I mean it's a great end of see his story.
I mean it is holiday junior card.
Speaker 1 (11:31):
What if it was made out of a hot dog? Oh,
then you could eat it if you wanted to. Oh,
that would be fantastic edible Michael Pennix junior hot dog.
Speaker 3 (11:39):
So is it in like carbonite like it's Han Solo?
Speaker 2 (11:42):
No?
Speaker 3 (11:43):
That that way it you know, it doesn't start to rot.
I don't want the picture though, I mean depending on
the hot dog. I mean maybe it doesn't.
Speaker 1 (11:50):
Pen just has his hands up like he's Han Solo
in the carbonite, or just take him on the ground.
From the National Title game against Michigan, you know, either
one I.
Speaker 3 (11:57):
Saw someone that did that with I mean going back
to the Han Solo thing with cheese and you can
buy it's easy.
Speaker 1 (12:04):
To carve and cheese though, I think anybody can do that. Man,
you gotta make it.
Speaker 3 (12:08):
With a three D printer and he's as a trading
card and cheese stays forever.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
That's that's overrated. That's like an easy way. That's like
an easy way to make a skull something a hot
dog where you got to get all meat to make
it into a hot dog and then you gotta make
something else either meat or meat like product. Yeah, exact, Well,
I'm gonna go.
Speaker 3 (12:27):
Get put it through the extruder. You don't know what
it is. I'm through the what extruder? What's an extruder?
Is that something real?
Speaker 1 (12:33):
Yeah, it's a extruder alert, extruder alert, it's an extruder.
I don't think that's I think sometimes you make up words.
I really do. I think sometimes you make up words
that you think are words and they're not. They really aren't.
Speaker 3 (12:46):
Got a low blood sugar, right, But extrusion literally it's
putting it through the process.
Speaker 1 (12:54):
What's extrusion?
Speaker 3 (12:55):
You put it through the process of say, like you,
I don't think extrusion is a word either say you
want to make a sausage of the extrusion process. If
he is pushing whatever the meat sausage through and through
into the encasement.
Speaker 1 (13:12):
Do you want to build a sausage? You might missus
Harmon at Christmas. He sits around, all the kids around
and he would volunteer in his kids' school. All right, kids,
what are we gonna do?
Speaker 3 (13:24):
We're gonna Construers are used to produce long, continuous products
such as tubing, tired threads, and wire covering.
Speaker 1 (13:32):
Okay, trost cinnamon men, No, No, are we gonna color
candy canes? No, let me try and make our own sauce.
To show you how the sausage is made.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
Kids.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
And when you get old, literally and you want to
see this, mister Harmon, what do you do? I'm picturing.
I'm picturing, uh Joan Cusack from School of Rock. Uh,
mister sneeb Lee. If I could just have a minute
of your time, mister Harmon, we don't want to be
showing the kids making sausage when it's raw, because they
(14:02):
could eat it and get sick. That's not something we
do here at the school.
Speaker 3 (14:06):
It's a bad choice by them. But sometimes you gotta
know the risks, and the only way to really get
you prepared for life is to put you in those situations.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
Early exit out bout a Fresca exit. Swollen Dome. The
Jason Show with my best friend Mike Carmen Live from
the tirach dot com studios U talking.
Speaker 3 (14:25):
People about extruders. Come on, did you did and you
tried to and they didn't exist? No, I'm saying I'd
say it. I still don't know.
Speaker 1 (14:32):
If they whoa What are you saying? What are you saying? Man?
What are you trying to say?
Speaker 3 (14:37):
Your age old debate of Santa trying to say? Here,
I'm just saying, it's a debate Santa Claus.
Speaker 1 (14:42):
If I if I if I went to give me,
give me a country you've never been to, No Roby.
If I went tonight Roby and said, hey, do you
know who Mike Harmon is, they would say no, I
don't know. Sorry, swollen Dome, you know, I don't know.
They would have no idea. But I would say, you know,
Santa Claus is I know Santa Claus. Santa Claus is real?
They would know its Santa Clau wouldn't know you. You
could be a figment of you, could be a figment
(15:02):
of my imagination. In the last ten plus years has
just been me that I concocted you out of thin air.
And this is some might argue that to be the case.
Mike Harmon, he doesn't exist, man, I don't know what
you're talking about. Wait, that's a movie. He's never been
seeing movie. That's a movie. Is there a Harmon exit
out about Aresca exit swollen dome? So yes, A long
way to go with you know. Congratulations to Michael Pennock
(15:23):
Junior for celebrating at Costcos go with a hot dog.
We got someone else to get some Costco hot Costco
hot dog coming up next. You thought this year was
going to be the last we saw of one polarizing
NFL quarterback. After the news today, get ready for his return.
(15:43):
That's next Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (16:00):
I want an Aaron Rodgers touchdown for Chris math Only
in Aaron Rodgers touchdown, I'll do don't want Jack Wilson memories.
Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike.
Speaker 3 (16:16):
Harmon, better record with Zach Wilson A lot. That's true.
That's true, not because of him, but still a better run.
Cannot be well, you can debate that, but's still a
better but still better.
Speaker 1 (16:28):
Look, we will we will continue to bring you updates
early and off and from the LA Bowl. Yeah, we
are a sponsor. I didn't know this until right before
the show. The art of LA like this, it's a
it's just like a skincare company that was founded by
Kobe Bryant. I did not know that. I had no idea.
I mean, look, these bulls just you know they they
change every single year with the sponsors and our That's
why I keep going back to Pool and weed Eater Independent.
(16:49):
Do you enjoy that? I like, that's my favorite one.
But I had no idea what that was. Like, what
what is a sponsor? I don't know.
Speaker 3 (16:54):
I don't even I gotta dig it. Can we get
some skincare? I mean, you know, I don't know. I
don't just go to the store and by lotion, put
the lotion in the basket.
Speaker 1 (17:04):
You do what you take us there.
Speaker 3 (17:10):
You really channeled that a little too easily. Hell, gotta
be honest, I'm a little worried for you.
Speaker 1 (17:16):
So a really interesting day when it comes to the
future for everybody's favorite polarizing quarterback, Aaron Rodgers. Uh. Many
stories about Aaron Rodgers today, Let's see take your pick.
You had the back and forth the the war with
ESPN's Ryan Clark that he is in about about things,
(17:39):
and then you had a a trifecta of stories which
involve him coming back to play next year. He said
that he's willing to take a pay cut to return
to the Jets next year. It's much like the pay
cut I took for this year. Okay, pay cut to
return to the Jets. He is willing to mentor another
quarterback knowing that his time is at an a and
(18:00):
I'm willing to do that. Also said he could take
some time after the season is over to heal. Yeah,
to take all he needs. He needs a lot of that, Uh,
to decide. You know how much he wants to come back, right,
He wants to come back now he's looking. My plan
is to do this, but I mean unless the Jets
release me right away. His plan is that? So those
(18:20):
are big stories today. He will take a pay cut
to come back with the Jets. Just think about that,
I will take a pay cut. How desperate are you
to stay in the NFL when you're willing to take
a pay cut to stay with the Jets? Okay, not
like I'll take a pay cut to stay with the
Cowboys or the forty nine Ers or the Steeler. I'll
take a pay cut to stay with the Jets. Normally
it's you had to pay me like twice what anybody else.
Speaker 3 (18:42):
Pay all that stuff? I will, I will.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
I will take a pay cut to stay with the Jets.
Like how insane is that? But but it.
Speaker 3 (18:49):
Makes sense though, right because the power of New York,
New Jersey and keeping your brand alive as an active player,
just do the do the It's fuzzy math, but you
can do it pretty easily of getting yourself to where
the value of still being an active NFL quarterback is
greater than him than not.
Speaker 1 (19:09):
It makes sense in the fact that what I told
you a few weeks ago was for Aaron Rodgers. Next year,
it's the Jets or nothing. That's it. It's the Jets
or he's done.
Speaker 3 (19:20):
Well.
Speaker 1 (19:20):
You realize that's it.
Speaker 3 (19:21):
I mean, the tea leaves right because you start putting
other teams in focus and in perspective. Whatever comes out
of the draft. You get two or three guys in
the first round, because let's face it, as much as
we want to say it's just Sanders and Ward, someone
else will get drafted, if not more than one other
quarterback at the back end of the first round. We
(19:42):
watch it every year. Guys that have second or third
round grades get elevated because of the position scarcity and
fear of missing out. So fine, Sam Darnold, whatever happens,
whether he stays in Minnesota or moves on a couple
of other quarterbacks who are not world beaters, but I
might have life somewhere else. Add the Kirk Cousins part
(20:04):
of things, and whether folks say, well, just by virtue
of the fact that he's four years younger, we take
a shot at him where we only have to pay
part of the salary, And yeah, it all makes sense.
There aren't many chairs that are still done and still
in operation.
Speaker 1 (20:22):
When the music stops, now he knows it's the Jets
or nothing, because of what how this season has gone
right and it's been more of a just a negative
connotation for Aaron Rodgers than it's been horrendous play top
to bottom, because quite honestly, you look at Aaron Rodgers,
you look at the last few weeks, there's not been
(20:42):
a lot of quarterbacks who have played better. If I
said to you the last seven weeks for Aaron Rodgers,
I said touchdowns interceptions? How many would you tell me
last seven games? How many touchdowns? How many games touchdowns interception?
I would say probably what thirteen to two, thirteen to three?
You looked? You know I didn't. You looked? Jit what No,
you looked? No, look look you chanted? You cheated. How
(21:05):
did you get thirteen out of the thirteen out of
the top? How did you get that? You cheated? You cheated,
you looked. I'd say, I would say thirteen, And I
would say that thirteen for the week.
Speaker 3 (21:16):
You know, I would have done it for fantasy purposes,
for the I watch your Flex podcast last week where
we were talking about the last four to five weeks.
Speaker 1 (21:24):
Yeah, you're like, when you know Dan Patrick used to
do this on on ESPN when he was on When
you know, researchers would would would give him numbers when
he would be reading the score of a game, and
he would always say something to make it se make
it seem like it's something he knew off the top
of his head. And it was really funny. We had it,
we had we had an inside thing about it, he
would say. And I believe this was the first time that, uh,
(21:45):
that Matt Williams at three home runs in a game
since September of ninety five, ninety four, right.
Speaker 3 (21:53):
Like ninety four, but like legitimate, you know, we might
have done something along that line for the podcast. You knew,
but literally you saw it was my lock screen on
my already.
Speaker 1 (22:03):
It doesn't matter. Now your screen is black.
Speaker 3 (22:05):
Now it's full on black because I haven't touched thirteen
and one for Rocket, so he has had but I
know he doesn't turn the ball over, so it was
going to be a low number.
Speaker 1 (22:13):
I was going three or fewer.
Speaker 3 (22:15):
He is touchdowns a little better, and that was just
complete guesswork.
Speaker 1 (22:20):
He is. He has been pretty good. He hasn't been great.
He has been about what I hoped he would be
at the start of the season. But instead this is
what we're getting now because look, he's gonna end the
season with about twenty seven or twenty eight touchdowns, ten interceptions,
and I would if you told me that last year, Hey, Roger,
you know, twenty seven and ten Next year, I would say,
(22:40):
we're going fourteen and foot winning the AFC East.
Speaker 3 (22:43):
But it's a great winning jump off point and connection
back to my team since it's all about you know,
you and I, this partnership and the fun and exciting
world that is campleb Williams and all the hate watching.
It's the same thing. You can look at the numbers,
but then you go back into the reality of it
and how good it's been or uneven it's been. Right
post all the Caleb Williams stuff about lack of interceptions,
(23:05):
all that doesn't mean he's necessarily made the right decision
and done the right right play to push things forward.
Same thing with Aaron Rodgers. And you've got no run
game right now in New York. Like that's the hard part,
right is like his are in a vacuum, but you
pull it back out. Defense still shoddy and your run
game you pointed it out yesterday. He've led your team
(23:27):
in rush again week fifteen.
Speaker 1 (23:29):
You're not winning yet.
Speaker 3 (23:30):
People very frequently, if he's your leading rusher.
Speaker 1 (23:33):
People are so negative about Aaron Rodgers right now, it's there.
They're not being realistic. Oh, Aaron Rodgers hasn't done now
the last few weeks, and maybe, like we said with
Kirk Cousins, who still maybe has not gotten healthy from
the injury last year, devastating injury when he's forty. It
took Aaron Rodgers the better part of half because I
told you, look, Rogers's gonna be good. There's no doubt
(23:54):
in my mind he's gonna wint it. But it's gotta
be now. It can't be week eleven and that's what
it was was week eleven weeks.
Speaker 3 (24:00):
But it's also good versus MVP, like anybody that was
expected to be back up here. But if he's because
of the bravado and all the hoopla around him, would kidnaps.
Speaker 1 (24:10):
If you would just take, okay, your performance from these
last seven games and just extrapolated out overseason, yeah, I
would take twenty six and two. And I mean he's
in the top ten. I believe he's right outside the
top ten for total yards thrown. Like the last seven
weeks has not been an Aaron Rodgers thing. It's been
defense falling at the end of games, but he's getting
all the blame because he has not lifted the Jets
(24:33):
like he was supposed to. But bottom line, you have
a team that's going to be starting over, or not
really starting over, but reloading on the fly. They're gonna
get a GM that it's the only GM job he's
ever gonna get right. That the Jets are not going
to get anybody to come in right. You have a
head coach who's going to be it's the only job
this person's gonna get right. All the other jobs I'd
rather have anything else, but boy, the Jets are my
(24:53):
only chance. It's one of thirty two. Especially when you
saw that story today circulating that Woody Johnson listens to
his kid. How about that, you know, his college age kid,
Brick Johnson. Oh my sweet brick, My sweet brick. What
should we do at quarterback? My sweet break? What should
we do? Do we play Jordan Travis when he's out
the Oh my sweet Brick, Oh Brick. I mean everybody
(25:15):
knows the dumpster fire the Jets are now, So Woody Johnson,
who's he gonna get. He's gonna get a last chance
Hotel GM, A last chance hotel head coach and what
are they gonna say, Hey, before we figure out what
are our quarterback is gonna be Yes, let's bring Rogers
back next year because the last few weeks have been okay.
He looks like he's rediscovered that that bit of a
(25:39):
relationship with Davante Adams. On the field, Garrett Wilson is fantastic.
We have some nice pieces. They figured out the offensive
line again. I told you I had no doubt the
Jets were going to start play. They just had to
do it earlier and it didn't get to be until
week ten, week eleven, which then it was too late.
So he's gonna come back next year. You think he's not.
I mean, look how desperate he is because he's talking
(26:00):
about I would take a pay cut to stay with
the Jets. I'd mention a quarterback to stay with the Jets.
He wants to stay. He's saying, I want to stay.
I'll do whatever you need so I can have one
more goal around in the NFL. And I know it's
with the Jets or nobody, so let's do it. I
just I watch what happened with Kirk Cousins last night
and saw him lose his job and wonder if anybody's
gonna trade for him, what kind of a future he has.
(26:22):
I want to let you know I am here. I
can't lose this position. I will lose it in a
year if I'm too old. I can't plan. I'm ready
to retire, but I don't want to. I know that
the best chance of me being a quarterback is staying
the place I'm a quarterback at right now. And I
don't think it's any coincidence. After what happened with Kirk
Cousins last night, how fast it was. Now you're done,
and here comes Michael Pennix that Aaron Rodgers saying, listen,
I understand you're gonna bring in a new quarterback. I
(26:44):
get it. I will mentor I will I will start,
I will do all this you need. I'll take a
pay cut all of these things. Likely the quarterback you're
bringing in is gonna be somebody that's not someone to
come in to start right away. They're only a couple
of quarterbacks in the first round, and they're going to
go in the first couple of picks. The Jets aren't
picking that ey. They're gonna pick probably runs seventh or eighth.
So the guy they have is either Jordan Travis from
Florida State if he's healthy, someone they take in the
(27:05):
second round. It'll be a developmental guy. So he is
doing all. He's gonna play next year. He will be
starting for the Jets week one next season. Write it down,
it's happening.
Speaker 3 (27:17):
Get it down and write it good. You're channeling full
Dusty Roads. Yeah, get it down, write it down. It's
good talking about hard times New York Jets dream Aaron Rodgers. No,
legitimately we watched in the last few weeks and it's
not him. It's look is he the guy that he was? No,
but you weren't anticipating that. This is the speech today
(27:39):
goes in in line with the Cousins news, but also
the idea that he's now getting back to being Aaron
Rodgers right, the fight with Ryan Ryan Clark, let's go,
let's bring up stuff about vaccines again and whatever else.
So he needs to temper that, so he goes back
to his I'm the King of New York. Remember when
he was doing all the tour and he was on
Broadway and everything else.
Speaker 1 (27:59):
Look at me. So part of that is all right.
Speaker 3 (28:02):
You may hate me over here, but I am what
I am, but as a player, I recognize what didn't
happen for me back in the day, right the farm
to him and what he didn't do for Jordan Love,
at least outwardly in terms of mentorship. Here's how you
win some points to whatever the new coach is, whatever
the new GM is going forward, recognizing that that relationship
(28:26):
needs to change, and you need to look a little cuddlier,
a little softer as you're you're going ahead because you
can still play quite obviously, right the numbers bear it out,
and look what is throwing?
Speaker 1 (28:38):
Bet he's more confident.
Speaker 3 (28:41):
Fired your guy and defense disappeared. It kind of happened
in Chicago to figure.
Speaker 1 (28:47):
Disappeared in Chicago. It was like eternal sunshine of the
spotless mind. Where hey, where the where's that racket books going?
Where's this room going?
Speaker 3 (28:54):
Everything is everything just beird, but but just the same
idea of all right, the side of the ball that
was supposed to be you know, ronco ready set it,
forget it, just go on because you had Sala and
it was playing well. They fell apart. Whatever happened there
because they didn't lose. They didn't lose a bunch of
guys for injury. They just stopped playing well on the
(29:16):
offensive side. I think there's still work to be done
on that offensive line. You still need another wide receiver,
but you at least still have some of the component parts.
And so that's the intriguing part moving forward. Also in
a division that is one team, and hey, go and
get it right, go be the second place team and
(29:38):
go find a wild card because the Dolphins, do you
have any confidence that they know what they're doing?
Speaker 1 (29:43):
No? And the Patriots there's still so much infighting.
Speaker 3 (29:46):
You got a quarterback, I think Drake may is that guy,
but beyond that, you have a bunch of off your head.
Coach was supposed to go differently, but that's the point
is he may not make it. So right now it's
the Bills and go chase them down and chase down
a wild card spot. What better way to do that?
Aaron Rodgers on conduity on that side, he'll him darting
(30:08):
nice sandbox. Oh yeah, realizing that he's got to in
all of those different ways. It works because where else
is he going to go as a quarterback? Everybody else
that's a dumpster fire is going to go. Either has
their guy and just need to cultivate it, Williams and whatever,
or they need to go find someone Shador Sanders cam
(30:29):
Ward or what's behind door number.
Speaker 1 (30:32):
Three exit out about a Fresco exit Swelling Dome. Trust
me write it down. Aaron Rodgers week one starting for
the Jets next season. Rogers, we're not done with him yet.
We're not done with him yet. Good time that to
find out what's trending in the wide world of sports.
Of someone who took Aaron Rodgers in the first round
of her fantasy draft this year, it's Monty Blagos.
Speaker 5 (30:51):
I mean, I may as well have because I thought
the Jets were going to win the division.
Speaker 3 (30:55):
Wow, I thought the Jets were going to the Super Bowl.
He was even further than that, though, No.
Speaker 6 (30:59):
I really thought they were going to win the division.
Speaker 1 (31:01):
Like I.
Speaker 5 (31:02):
Oh, very disappointing season for even non Jets fans, not
just you, Jason.
Speaker 1 (31:08):
They're luckily thy cousin's drapped.
Speaker 6 (31:10):
Him, right. I'm just saying luckily I did not draft him.
Speaker 5 (31:13):
We do have a college football game going on the
LA Bowl between number twenty four un l V and KEL.
The Rebels are up fourteen to thirteen with less than
one minute to go in the game.
Speaker 6 (31:23):
But they're full of tricks in this game.
Speaker 3 (31:25):
Guys Miikey Matthews back to receive the punt, Marshall Nichols
standing with his toes on the twenty five.
Speaker 1 (31:29):
They fake it, they throw it and completed at the
forty yard line. That's Cam Oliver.
Speaker 3 (31:33):
Midfield at the forty on the far sideline of the
thirty to the twenty and he is bropped down headside
the ten trick your ration from the Rebels in the
ball game.
Speaker 6 (31:42):
And that was matt Never from lear field. It was
such a good fake punt for the Rebels.
Speaker 5 (31:47):
Again, they're up fourteen thirteen less than one minute to
go in the first half.
Speaker 6 (31:50):
Other college football.
Speaker 1 (31:51):
Juicies, did you in game bet that game that a
team would pull off a fake punt?
Speaker 4 (31:56):
Did you engage?
Speaker 6 (31:57):
I wish I would have.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
Because that's really random. You threw that highlighted it. It
just was so good.
Speaker 5 (32:03):
It was just I've never I've never seen such a
good bake punt executed like that.
Speaker 6 (32:07):
You know, I was too into it. I was. I wish,
I wish.
Speaker 5 (32:13):
Washington State transfer quarterback John Mattier has committed to Oklahoma.
He announced on social media today. In college hoops. Yukon
has now won five in a row. They topped Xavier
ninety four, eighty nine and ot Number twenty one Memphis
survived against Virginia sixty four to sixty two. Right now,
Number six Alabama has taken the lead from North Dakota.
Seventy eight seventy two is a score less than five
(32:34):
minutes to go in the game. Number nine Marquette has
taken the lead from Butler. Sixty to fifty two is
a score eight minutes to go, and you can catch
all the action on FS one with four minutes left.
Number thirteen Gonzaga has extended their lead over Nichols.
Speaker 6 (32:47):
Eighty eight sixty six is the score.
Speaker 5 (32:50):
And then halfway through the second half, it's number twenty
four Michigan beating number fourteen Oklahoma sixty one to fifty five. Lastly,
here in the NFL, Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert was removed
from the injury report. He is going to play tomorrow
night against the Broncos. But LA has ruled out tight
end Will Disley because of a shoulder injury, and Denver
has ruled out running back Jillian McLaughlin because of a
(33:10):
quad injury.
Speaker 1 (33:12):
All right, back to you guys, Moncie. What about Fox
Sports Radio producer Justin Frosburg? Is he is he in
line to produce the broadcast tomorrow night?
Speaker 3 (33:19):
Yes, he's looking so I want.
Speaker 6 (33:23):
To make sure, yes he's in.
Speaker 3 (33:25):
Does he he is questionable?
Speaker 6 (33:28):
But leaning towards yes?
Speaker 1 (33:29):
Wow, Justin Frosburg is questionable.
Speaker 6 (33:31):
Questionable days spinoffs.
Speaker 1 (33:37):
Thanks a bunch Jason Smith, Mike Harmon love from the
tirect dot com studios. We got more NFL on the way,
but coming up next, how about a big NBA Bowl
prediction after what the commissioner said earlier today? If you
like three pointers? Wait, we hear this, that's next Jason
and Mike Fox.
Speaker 2 (33:57):
Be sure to catch live editions of the Jason in
Smith's Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern,
seven pm Pacific, Fox Sports.
Speaker 1 (34:08):
Radio, The Jason Smith Show with My best friend Mike Harmon,
a lot of theire rack dot com studios. We want
more NFL on the way coming up in a few minutes.
Also going to give you a big pick for tomorrow night.
Thursday Night football, a huge Titanic matchup between the Broncos
(34:30):
and the Chargers.
Speaker 3 (34:32):
But can we do a remote. We have the technology
and stuff. I just kind of show up.
Speaker 1 (34:39):
I think we do well. Just we'll just show up
with the Frostburg's producing the game like he does. We'll
just show up and sit next to him. We'll do
the show.
Speaker 3 (34:47):
Nice.
Speaker 1 (34:47):
There we go. Hey, can you tell the play by
play guys to be quiet so we can talk? Great?
Thanks you for being a little too loud. All right,
thank you. I appreciate that. I have some stats that
want to give them flyball caught U. We want a big,
bold prediction, and you could see this coming.
Speaker 3 (35:03):
We always like big bold predictions on the show.
Speaker 1 (35:05):
Look, the Celtics are on pace to shatter the number
of three pointers taken by a team in an NBA season.
Speaker 3 (35:11):
We saw it opening night. They were going to do
this well, and we saw that Drek last night. It
three point three point barrage and like, at some point
you recognize you're not due. None of your guys are shooting. Well,
it's a different arena, it's a different environment. It's not working.
Speaker 1 (35:27):
But the way the three pointer has evolved in the
NBA the last few years. Look, everybody makes them now,
everybody takes them like starting centers take threes. Karl Anthony
Towns has more big threes at the end final two
minutes of games, and he has buckets inside right. Lopez
hitting threes last night like everybody takes them, and it's
not a great it's not a great percentage of success.
(35:49):
And the game has kind of hit a bit of
a skid with all these threes. We still love the three,
but the romanticism of it, and and and and seeing
the big numbers on the board. Yeah, there's a lot
of misses and it doesn't make the game as great
as it could be. Adam Silver said today, Yes, they're
monitoring three point shooting. They're worried about the style and
(36:12):
the style of play that goes on now because of
the three point shot. He doesn't say stuff like this
unless there's a change coming. And there's not a lot
you can do except what I'm sure he is going
to do. And I will tell you this within the
next year, however long it takes him to get this okade,
they will move the three point line back at least
a foot, maybe two feet. Now you can't do anything
(36:34):
on the sides of the court. Well maybe maybe, but
maybe you've got to make the court bigger we're going
to make the court bigger. No, you can't really do it.
Players need to be able to run and be able
to cut and make moves. So it's not going to
be on the side.
Speaker 3 (36:45):
Well, but that's but that's the question though, right Obviously
the dollars and cents because we always talk about it
from a financial situation where now you have to change
out a row of the court side seats, but you're
talking about that would get people pissed off.
Speaker 1 (37:00):
Yeah, but that's a lot to say. Okay, instead of
ninety four feet, we're going to add a few feet.
Speaker 3 (37:04):
But this would be great though, going you know, side
to side because now we can open it up like
it's Olympic hockey where skaters room.
Speaker 1 (37:16):
Up and back. Now, look, there is something for the play.
It is a small enough court where the players have
gotten bigger and faster, it is more difficult to have
a great flow to a game. I'm with you on that,
but there's only so much you can do that. That's
a big Hey, we have to we have to break
glass in case emergency. Here. I was trying, buddy, I
was trying. I was radical change. The NBA wants to
(37:37):
make play better. They want to make the flow of
play better. They want to make drives to the basket,
the Michael Jordan drives of the basket happen more when
you're in an era now of it's either a dunk
or three, and we've seen that now for a while.
To make the three pointers still special, still part of
the game, but make it a little bit harder and
to open up the offensive floor a little bit. If
you moved it back, not on the sides, but in
(37:59):
basically from the the end of the wing to the
center court. If you go back from twenty three to nine,
to twenty five or even twenty six, that's what's going
to happen. They're gonna make it a little more difficult
to hit a three, So not everybody is shooting threes. Still,
your best three point shooters will shoot threes. The guys
that will take them and make them. Stef is still
gonna shoot from there. Obviously Dan Lillard will shoot from there.
(38:22):
But they're gonna make it more difficult because they have
to find some way to open up play and that's
the best way to do it. And they can say
we're gonna do it. This year is just a test.
We're gonna move it back to twenty five feet maybe
next year twenty six, but they'll move it back at
least a foot plus. But two feet is really what
it's gonna because now suddenly, all right, you're defending. Teams
have to defend a little bit more, which means they're
(38:44):
a little bit more room open room open passing lanes,
and you'll see a little bit different, better, more high octane,
successful offensive possessions, which is what people tune in to see,
more cutting and more opportunity, and that will change the
definition of what constitutes a bad mid range jumper. Yeah,
he's just inside.
Speaker 3 (39:04):
Well, hell, he used to hit that as a three pointer.
Low that psychologically it's killed him. You know Snapper last
year that was a three ah not this year. Oh
you're getting his steeve Snapper Jones.
Speaker 1 (39:14):
Yeah yeah, yeah, well be ANBC, come on, Snapper Jones.
Uh but trust me, that's gonna happen. They will, they will,
They will move the three point line back within the
next year or two. You're gonna get it.
Speaker 3 (39:24):
Well, and we want to go even more radical. How
about we add the second basket over the top and
it's rocking Jock, that's not that you can't do it
all once. Let's do so first this twenty six, twenty
seven feet. But now if you want to go for
the high arc and now it's a five pointer.
Speaker 1 (39:39):
Where's bang. You're just gonna be able to raise the
basket in between possessions. We're down six, all right, raised
up to twenty eight feet. All right, greats coach for
the final three minutes. Are armed with a joystick. Let's
go exit out Valafresca. Exit swollen dome coming up next,
Mike and I got a big story out of the NFL.
Keep it a here, Fox,
