we brought you a little bit early last night that
Woody Johnson's son, eighteen year old Brick Johnson.

football team that Brick Johnson runs the football team like

It's this is how the Jets are run. That's why

Jerry Jones, except he's not as public about it like

But even Jerry Jones doesn't do this. I don't know
what to say about this, Mike. I'm being real with
you when I say this might be the rock bottom
for the Jets in their entire franchise history. I don't

know that there's a more embarrassing strictly sports story. There's
stuff you get outside of sports for different teams, but
strictly sports, I don't know that it gets more embarrassing
than my owner veto to trade because we didn't like
his Madden rating. And when the Jets were trying to
defend this story, they came to the Jets for like,
they didn't really say, none of this is true, all
of this is false. It's well, you kind of moved

a little bit, like the Madden rating is kind of
a thing we look at a little bit, but you know,
it's not quite like even the Jets go, yeah, this
is kind of how it's been. I mean, I don't know, man,
I really, I don't know that there's a more embarrassing story.
Then the owner wouldn't make a trade because of he
didn't like a player's Madden rating. If Jerry Judy had
a maybe his Madden rating was eighty three as eighty one.

Oh we're gonna trade for Jerry Judy, and it would
have been different this year. I mean, just the fact
that that's a thing. I mean, And then you know,
with Brick Johnson having just as big a voice in
his dad's ear as Joe, I don't know what to say, man.
This is why like I can't even wear my Jets
gear I get. I just feel like people are laughing
at me as I'm walking down the street wearing I
can't do that, man.

it's all out there for all to see. Latest on
the Sammy Sosa fun is up on your socials at

the the idea of all right, as bad as we are,
I'd love to see what would be the equivalent for

has more clout than the other. But it's now just

nineteen seventy six. But something else historical happened in the
NBA tonight. Who was worse the Jets today or Draymond
Green the Jets today at all time low? Hey, we

this is rock bottom all time or Draymond Green today?

now that's that, you say. Okay, well, wait, at least

Okay, he didn't impact the game, and yeah for the night.

Yeah, Draymond Green, no points, no rebounds, no assists, one steal,
four turnovers, four personal fouls, and minus forty two for
the night. That means in the nineteen minutes he was
on the floor, the Warriors got out scored by forty
two points. I defy you to find me a less

efficient basketball game in NBA history since we've been keeping
track of plus minus. Now we're only going back a
few years, but we're still in the aughts with that,
I defy you to find me a less I guess
that's how you would you would you, that's exactly how
you would say.

ninth of twenty twenty four.

this was zero's across the board for Draymond Green except
for a steal and oh, by the way, four turnovers
and minus forty two. Like I like, you gotta give
me Scoot Henderson's you gotta give me his stat line,

and if it's just as bad, I'll say, Okay, you're right,
that's the worst one. But I don't know, man, zero
zero zero, zero one steal, four turnovers and minus forty two.
I don't, I don't. I don't think you're gonna find
a less efficient game. I really don't.

It's pretty impressive. You know, what you did is absolutely.

Now, henderson did have twenty points in that game. Okay,
by get getting at this though, Smith. All right, so
twenty points, six assists, seven turnovers, and his forty one
minutes played. That's only in the sidebar kind of box score,
like we were mocking old box scores before. In the
actual article, it doesn't mention anything positive.

Record breaking miserable night that it was, and there was
a guy named Manny Harris who had the previous record

Now here's the thing, because it is tough to be

two and nineteen minutes. Okay, I think that's less that's

it looked like the Broncos were doing ever the hell
they wanted to in the first half and the Chargers

big kick to end the first half, the first free
kick field goal in the NFL since nineteen seventy six.
When Ray Wershing also did it for the Chargers. So
basically every forty eight years, the Chargers will make a

More than doubles life and it's oh yeah, dude, there's
like six generations of cicadas that come and go by
that it's like, oh, why did I miss the last
thirteen years?

But look, both teams we talked about the future of
both these teams. The eras of both these teams are here.
They're not close to the to the versions of themselves
they're going to be, And it's it's bad news to
the other thirty teams when Sean Payton and Jim Harbaugh
are this good, this early in their runs, when they
don't really have a lot of guys where there's a

teams next year as better players come in to take over.
I mean this is we saw them play tonight. They're

with Us tonight. Jay, the big signature win for Jim
Harbaugh in his first year back in the NFL. What
do you take away from this Chargers victory?

Well, I take away that, you know, obviously Jim Rbrook
changed the culture over there, and he's got about to
believe that. You know this, you just said gritty like
they made great halftime adjustments. They're brought into his culture, like, hey,
we could get our bucks with them the first half
and make an adjustment the second half and just come
out and fight harder. And and you're kind of believing

what they're what they're selling, and they did. They bought in.
They're believing them. Charger are a tough team, and you charge
are one of those teams that if you get them,
they're still but they're still building what the roster is
gonna end up being but there's still one of those teams.
If you get them in the players, You're like, I've
rather than not have them on my my kids in
the playoffs.

Yeah, I mean, look after what happened with Tampa and
then certainly the first half year to be able to
go back to, as you've dubbed it, the culture of
violence with Gus Edwards in the second half wasn't happening early,
but sure as hell happened late.

Yeah. Absolutely, you know it's so funny too, and it does.
You know. I had Kim all about my podcast earlier
this year, and one of the funnier things she said
to me said, he loves Justin Herbert. Obviously, he said
Justin Herbert he could play defensive end. I'm like, come on, dude,
he goes. I'm like, you mean what he goes, No,
I mean he could play defensive end. Like he's that
gig and athletic construct. And he's like, but he that

he has this signal where and obviously you know, you
guys know traying Derwin James and talk to Derwin about it.
He goes, he just makes you he just makes you
feel like you believe in yourself so much and Jim
makes you believe in yourself so much, and man, he's
time to just buy it in. And I think, but
Jim Harball we're seeing now is a different Jim Harbll.
We saw his first goal around in the NFL. I

think he's way more like secure Jim Harbaugh as far
as like man, he won a national championship. He's a champion.
You know, it's just he's just he's a lot. He's
just a fun character to be around.
Speaker 1 (21:33):
Man. Now, the flip side of this, obviously the Broncos lose,
but this is a season that I don't think had
many Broncos fans saw coming. They're still in the driver's
seat for the playoffs at nine and six. I mean,
this has been some kind of push by Sean Payton,
who this is also still not nearly the Broncos team
you're expect him to see once he gets it all
loaded up.
Speaker 4 (21:52):
Oh, absolutely not. And that's the thing. They don't really
but they don't have the weapons that you know, they're
obviously would like to have to build around to have
a whole off season now where he doesn't have a
bunch of deadtop money for the rest of Wilson deal.
And and some other deals also, and to go out
and free agency and to build again through the draft.

And one thing I'll say this about Seawan, Sean is
probably the best coach in the NFL when it comes
to an eye for personnel. Like his eye for personnel
is just different. I remember back in New Orleans, he
got up and he bet everybody how great. They're like, hey,
in the second round, we're going to get this running

back named Alvin Kamara and he's going to be an
all Pro. And he actually like bet guys in the
County department. But it's like he really did. I mean
it's the same guy also who is trying to trade
up for Patrick Malmes without anybody knowing while Drew Brees
was still his quarterback, but he went bow Nicks. I
mean he had bow Nicks who was after they had

a one on one visit after his personal workout, and
he knew it back then. He's like, this is my guy,
the guy to the point I said on Foxing Something
a couple of weeks ago, I said, look, Sean's crazy
and he comes up with crazy ideas. But one of
the crazy ideas he came to me with was like, hey,
I'm actually I'm thinking of because I want to show
people that he was my guy. Along was never J J. McCarthy.

so good in the first half, and you looked like

they did that the entire first half, and the Chargers

were able to stop that for the second half. To me,
that's gonna be the That's the big thing going forward
for Sean Payton is, boy, we're doing anything we want
to and then sudden he just stopped on the dime. Yeah,

The first drive right out of the half, they got
those three points back right eleven plays forty seven yards
and they took almost half of the quarter away but

the last few days talking to doctors. They are now
optimistic that he should be able to avoid season ending surgery.
He'll try to rehab and return at some point this season.
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is off the injury report good
to go for Saturday's the game against the Texans, but left.

are gonna run over Indiana. I know a lot of
people think it's gonna be close, but give me Notre

we brought you a little bit early last night that
Woody Johnson's son, eighteen year old Brick Johnson.

All I think. I think of Steve Carell running a
football team that Brick Johnson runs the football team like
his voice is just as big as anybody else's, whether
it was general manager Joe Douglass or anyone else. Like
he's got his big a voice. Joe Douglass reportedly said,
I answer to a teenager. You know what I mean.
It's this is how the Jets are run. That's why

I say he is. Woody Johnson is every bit to
Jerry Jones, except he's not as public about it like
Jerry Jones wants to. Hey, if we're going to be
a train wreck, I want to be public about this.
But even Jerry Jones doesn't do this. I don't know
what to say about this, Mike. I'm being real with
you when I say this might be the rock bottom
for the Jets in their entire franchise history. I don't

know that there's a more embarrassing strictly sports story. There's
stuff you get outside of sports for different teams, but
strictly sports, I don't know that it gets more embarrassing
than my owner veto to trade because we didn't like
his Madden rating. And when the Jets were trying to
defend this story, they came to the Jets for like,
they didn't really say, none of this is true, all
of this is false. It's well, you kind of moved

a little bit, like the Madden rating is kind of
a thing we look at a little bit, but you know,
it's not quite like even the Jets go, yeah, this
is kind of how it's been. I mean, I don't know, man,
I really, I don't know that there's a more embarrassing story.
Then the owner wouldn't make a trade because of he
didn't like a player's Madden rating. If Jerry Judy had
a maybe his Madden rating was eighty three as eighty one.

Oh we're gonna trade for Jerry Judy, and it would
have been different this year. I mean, just the fact
that that's a thing. I mean, And then you know,
with Brick Johnson having just as big a voice in
his dad's ear as Joe, I don't know what to say, man.

gear I get. I just feel like people are laughing
at me as I'm walking down the street wearing I
can't do that, man.

it's all out there for all to see. Latest on

the the idea of all right, as bad as we are,
I'd love to see what would be the equivalent for

in your office, the levels of middle management and who
has more clout than the other. But it's now just

kick field goal in the NFL since nineteen seventy six.
When Ray Wershing also did it for the Chargers. So

that it's like, oh, why did I miss the last

But look, both teams we talked about the future of

with Us tonight. Jay, the big signature win for Jim
Harbaugh in his first year back in the NFL. What
do you take away from this Chargers victory?
Speaker 4 (19:41):
Well, I take away that, you know, obviously Jim Rbrook
changed the culture over there, and he's got about to
believe that. You know this, you just said gritty like
they made great halftime adjustments. They're brought into his culture, like, hey,
we could get our bucks with them the first half
and make an adjustment the second half and just come
out and fight harder. And and you're kind of believing

what they're what they're selling, and they did. They bought in.
They're believing them. Charger are a tough team, and you charge
are one of those teams that if you get them,
they're still but they're still building what the roster is
gonna end up being but there's still one of those teams.
If you get them in the players, You're like, I've
rather than not have them on my my kids in
the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
Yeah, I mean, look after what happened with Tampa and
then certainly the first half year to be able to
go back to, as you've dubbed it, the culture of
violence with Gus Edwards in the second half wasn't happening early,
but sure as hell happened late.
Speaker 4 (20:34):
Yeah. Absolutely, you know it's so funny too, and it does.
You know. I had Kim all about my podcast earlier
this year, and one of the funnier things she said
to me said, he loves Justin Herbert. Obviously, he said
Justin Herbert he could play defensive end. I'm like, come on, dude,
he goes. I'm like, you mean what he goes, No,
I mean he could play defensive end. Like he's that
gig and athletic construct. And he's like, but he that

he has this signal where and obviously you know, you
guys know traying Derwin James and talk to Derwin about it.
He goes, he just makes you he just makes you
feel like you believe in yourself so much and Jim
makes you believe in yourself so much, and man, he's
time to just buy it in. And I think, but
Jim Harball we're seeing now is a different Jim Harbll.
We saw his first goal around in the NFL. I
(21:19):
think he's way more like secure Jim Harbaugh as far
as like man, he won a national championship. He's a champion.
You know, it's just he's just he's a lot. He's
just a fun character to be around.
Speaker 1 (21:33):
Man. Now, the flip side of this, obviously the Broncos lose,
but this is a season that I don't think had
many Broncos fans saw coming. They're still in the driver's
seat for the playoffs at nine and six. I mean,
this has been some kind of push by Sean Payton,
who this is also still not nearly the Broncos team
you're expect him to see once he gets it all
loaded up.
Speaker 4 (21:52):
Oh, absolutely not. And that's the thing. They don't really
but they don't have the weapons that you know, they're
obviously would like to have to build around to have
a whole off season now where he doesn't have a
bunch of deadtop money for the rest of Wilson deal.
And and some other deals also, and to go out
and free agency and to build again through the draft.
(22:12):
And one thing I'll say this about Seawan, Sean is
probably the best coach in the NFL when it comes
to an eye for personnel. Like his eye for personnel
is just different. I remember back in New Orleans, he
got up and he bet everybody how great. They're like, hey,
in the second round, we're going to get this running
(22:35):
back named Alvin Kamara and he's going to be an
all Pro. And he actually like bet guys in the
County department. But it's like he really did. I mean
it's the same guy also who is trying to trade
up for Patrick Malmes without anybody knowing while Drew Brees
was still his quarterback, but he went bow Nicks. I
mean he had bow Nicks who was after they had

a one on one visit after his personal workout, and
he knew it back then. He's like, this is my guy,
the guy to the point I said on Foxing Something
a couple of weeks ago, I said, look, Sean's crazy
and he comes up with crazy ideas. But one of
the crazy ideas he came to me with was like, hey,
I'm actually I'm thinking of because I want to show
people that he was my guy. Along was never J J. McCarthy.

There's nobody else, always him. I'm thinking, how about this
for an idea, and this is how Sean talks. Hey, hey, listen,

I love Yeah, you know, and I would have loved

going to move up for Boone Nicks and it wasn't

the day of the draft, he probably called twelve when

only downside for the Broncos. Okay, it's a little bit tougher,
but they're gonna go to the playoffs right there. They're
nine and six. They still have time to win one

more game. They would a clinch with a win tonight.
The big thing for me is that, boy, you look
so good in the first half, and you looked like
you were doing anything you want. What happened at halftime,
Like anything they did in the first half, the Chargers
had no answer for Oh screen third and eleven. We're
gonna throw a screen. It's gonna gain seventeen yards. Like
they did that the entire first half, and the Chargers
(28:48):
were able to stop that for the second half. To me,
that's gonna be the That's the big thing going forward
for Sean Payton is, boy, we're doing anything we want
to and then sudden he just stopped on the dime. Yeah,
I mean anything.

The first drive right out of the half, they got
those three points back right eleven plays forty seven yards
and they took almost half of the quarter away but
had to settle for the field goal. And then after
that touchdown, Chargers punt, Broncos touchdown, Chargers punt Broncos, and
then the Chargers punt another punt before the touchdown drive.

So I mean, yes, sputtering early on, and that's the
problem is that, Look, they've been uneathen Like we've celebrated
some of the highs, but certainly there have been those voids.
And this was a huge loss. And now we look
at the Broncos nine and six, four and four away
from home, but the last two games of the season
at Cincinnati and then against the Chiefs. Now you're hoping

the Chiefs have nothing to play for. Well, the Bills
will have a lot to say about that, and all
of a sudden, the Bengals are still alive. That's the
fun of this, the chaos of this. For as bad
as their season has been, they're one and five at home,
yeah put in five at home. But they're six and
eight and that is your Week seventeen matchup.

Remember earlier in the show where we when we first
started talking about the the the free kick field goal
by the Chargers, right first one in the NFL since
nineteen seventy six, and it was, you know, like it
looked like something from the CFL, right the way it
was with all there I just got a text from
my buddy Brad and Edmonton, who produces the Jason Gregor Show.

I go on the Jason Show in Edmonton on you know,
once every couple of weeks or so, and he said,
google it. We actually had a game in the CFL
decided this year by a rouge, which is just when
you have to kick the ball through the end zone
and as long as it clears the end zone or
it gets down in the end zone, it's worth a point.
Somebody won a game on a rouge. There was a

game winning rouge in the CFL. I mean, dude, that's
outstand I don't know, man, that's game. All we need
is a rouge. Just get a rouge. We can win
this game.
Speaker 3 (36:28):
By the way, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (36:29):
Don't die. I'm not gonna try to pretend I could
know the circumstances that would get you to a game
winning rouge, Like if you can win a game with
a rouge that's tied, Like do you really need to
kick field goals? Like I don't know, Like if you
could win but it's tied, we just need a rouge.
We're not gonna try for a feeling. I don't know. Like,
I guess that could happen. I don't know.
Speaker 3 (36:46):
I feel like there's some research that needs to be
done here, and I want to go watch it live
and you know, and on tape tape to see how
that unfolded and what the reaction was on the broadcast
squad because we played it early ninety eight to seven,
all ninety eight to seven here in Los Angeles. Matt

Indiana and Notre Dame. Look, I'd love to pick Indiana,
but I just don't know how good Indiana is. And
this is part of the quirks. Now, when you have
the big big ten in SEC where teams are gonna

go eleven and one and miss a lot of really
good teams because of the way the scheduling goes. Like
you know, they played Ohio State, they lost by three touchdowns,
but they didn't play Penn State, didn't play Oregon. It's
how it's gonna go. Notre Dame is just a team
on another level. They are just at another level. They
are gonna run over Indiana. I know a lot of
people think it's gonna be close, but give me Notre
Dame Riley Leonard. They're all five yards of carry from

this Notre Dame offense. It's gonna look like a video game.
Give me Notre Dame thirty eight thirteen.

Last odds that I've seen the line is actually it
has moved down one and a half points since it's open,
from eight and a half down to seven fifty one
and a half years total. I'm with you. I mean,
we're looking at a team that was efficient offensively Riley
Leonard over six yards per carry. I mean, both have
questions about what did the schedule really teach us except

Indiana in their two biggest tests. Look pedestrian, can Signetti
get the best out of him? And curious when the
running games are such a big bar of things you
know who's gonna be able to complete a pass when
