dot com is the way tire buying should be. Basically,
Notre Dame in Indiana since midway, maybe midway through the
second quarter has just been a one of the I'm
just gonna watch it because it's a football game on
Friday night and just gonna wait for it to slowly
be over like that's that's kind of where we're at

(01:07):
right now.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
Even Steve couldn't get excited about it when he was
giving the update it's almost done. Ya make it stop.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
The second biggest play of the game just happened. Now
Notre Dame leads Indiana twenty to three. And really, this
game has had one play. We've had the ninety eight
yard touchdown run by Jeremiah Love, which was a shocker
and gave Notre Dame the lead they've never relinquished. But
finally we saw a play that's more than like five yards.

(01:36):
Riley Leonard hits Jordan flies On for forty four yards
there on the Indiana one knocking on the door for
a touchdown. That's just about gonna end this five and
a half minutes left to go. Look, Indiana basically waved
the white flag when it was fourth and eleven from
midfield a few minutes ago, and they punted. Okay, yeah,
but you're down three scores. Yeah, but it's fourth and eleven.
But you're at midfield. Now it's fourth and eleven. We're punting.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
Yeah, we called time out when there's a scrambled drill
on a dopey fourth down. Uh, let's fake it and
let's give you a weird looking formation. Now, let's call
the time out there that that's the play that when
everybody's in chaos. We need to pause things. But here, yeah,
just throw the white flag.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
I mean that this this was like again you're watching
because okay, it's slowly gonna be over.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
If Signetti was an NBA player, he wouldn't show up
at the podium. Then.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
Oh, just just am I wrong? Come on, he's slipped
out the bag. Come on, man, He's not Sean Payton
making those coaching mistakes last night. No, no, hey, no, no, no,
no, no no.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
He wrote a lot of giant ass checks that his
team all left on cash, like they lost them on
the street and then they were in the dank water
that Come on, Alex on the side of the road.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
You're Indiana way. When are you ever gonna get to
talk again? I mean, you're never gonna get It's never
gonna happen. Yes, but here's the thing. If you talking
while you're winning, nah, that's not no.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
You've got to if you're gonna talk as much as
he did, you gotta you gotta at least have something
up your sleeve. That looks like you, guys prepared for
this game right now, it looks like you just rather
be sitting under a warm blanket.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
Well, I think anybody would like that. I think even
even Notre Dame. Fani no, no, no, can we go? Can
we go? Right now? That's the that's the phrase being
uttered the most right now? Can we go? Can we not?

Speaker 3 (03:26):
What they paid for those tickets. Nobody's saying, hey, we
want to go right now?

Speaker 1 (03:30):
Can we go? Can we go?

Speaker 3 (03:31):
Do you want to get it? It was one thousand dollars?

Speaker 1 (03:33):
Man, can we go? Can we go? Can we go?
Can we go? After the touchdown when it's twenty four
to three? Can we go? Can we go? Can we go?
Can we go? Every that's I tell you, it's like
I feel like if I had a dollar for every
time that's being said right now, I could buy the Jets. Ah,
then everything would.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
Be You're like channeling a little. It's a wonderful life.
Every time a bell rings, every time someone says can
we go?

Speaker 1 (03:54):
Now?

Speaker 3 (03:55):
Are we there yet?

Speaker 1 (03:56):
Every time somebody plays mad and the Jets player gets
traded for But yeah, look, twenty to three Indiana trailing
Notre Dame. Notre Dame time out on the field. They
have the ball second in goal at the one yard
line with under five minutes left to go. It has
just been a game where it's basically been over since
you realized Indiana couldn't match up with Notre Dame, right,

(04:19):
And that's what it was like, the big question, how
good was Indiana? How good are they really? We don't know?
And then you see that after the first quarter, Oh,
they're not even close. They're not even close. Like that.
The two teams they played that are the best teams
this year. Ohio State they lost by three touchdowns and
Notre Dame they're gonna lose by at least three touchdowns again.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
And they had to eke out a win against a
Michigan team. Now they went and thumped Northwestern and then
they pulled the shocker if unless it wasn't against Ohio State,
and here we are. I mean, they're dead in the water.
Right after that, they had a twenty eight yard pass play,
you have the interception, all of these things that come back.

(04:59):
The ninety eight yard touchdown run was the only exciting
play really of the first half, and and that's where
we're at. It's it's just been a burial after that.
I mean, you look at the offense. You know, Notre
Dames rushed for what I had about sixty yards more
than Indiana has a total What did.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
I say last night? Notre Dame would run over Indiana
And it's not quite happening to the extent, but that's
exactly what is happening, because every play is a running play.
I'm surprised Riley Leonard has as many passing attempts as
he does. You know, they are running over Indiana and
you're seeing, okay, eleven and one, this is the end
for us, And maybe maybe Kurt Signetti knew it right, like, hey,
you know we're I'm just gonna yap here because you

(05:41):
never know when the good times are gonna end, and
when is the next time Indiana football is gonna go
eleven and one? So yeah, we're gonna We're gonna yap
right now and yep for a while. I'm okay with that,
because is.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
He gonna go Is he gonna go to the podium
and say get us now? You're never gonna say? Is
that the does he channel all the other coaches get
us now? Is we're coming?

Speaker 1 (05:59):
I got time for this, toy, I got time for this.
Do you want to talk? I got time for this today?
Chair As I saw as I say that, Riley Leonard
on the play fake goes in from a yard out.
It is twenty six to three note today with the
lead over Indiana under five minutes ago in the fourth quarter.
That will do it for Indiana, which is now a

(06:20):
football school. Uh So, we got Pete Futech coming up
in a little bit. He's gonna talk all the big
comings and goings from tonight tomorrow who he thinks can
make big strides, big wins tomorrow in the college football playoff.
But looking ahead at this week in the NFL, there
is one game that really is going to have everybody's
attention because we're going to get to see the debut

(06:44):
of Michael Pennix junior. And it kind of is a
varsity JV game because the Falcons are playing the Giants,
and the Giants have quit and they're done. But the
Falcons aren't that good, well compared to the Giants. They are, Yeah,
but the Mark.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
Carcity, you know, there there's still a bit of separation
between those two. I don't know how disparate it is.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
Separation between you don't think there's separate between the Falcons
who can still get in the playoffs and the Giants
who are terrible and have quit on the seat.

Speaker 3 (07:12):
Just saying they're not they're not that good.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
But but compared to the judge too. They're playing on Sunday.
That's what we're talking. A varsity JV game, Falcons and
the Giants is a varsity JV game.

Speaker 3 (07:22):
Eight touchdowns, two hundred rushing yards.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
I'll tell you what this game on Sunday for Pennix.
You're gonna see a different offense. You're gonna see different
plays that you didn't think the Falcons had in existence.
We haven't called this play in a few in a
few weeks. You haven't called this play in a long time.
They are gonna empty the playbook. Pennis has had a
long time that used to things, and they're gonna show
them off. They're not bringing penis in the hand, the

(07:46):
ball off to b Jon Robinson twenty five times, and
and and and we're gonna run the ball of you know,
fifty times in the game. They're gonna throw it and
it's gonna go incredibly Well, he's gonna have such a
big game that we're gonna be saying, why didn't the
Falcons do this sooner? Right, There is a part of
it that the Giants are done and ready for the
season to end. But Pennix with his arm is going
to get the ball and the wide receivers who're going

(08:07):
to say, hey, I haven't gotten a pass like this
in a while, because one thing we've seen Kirk Cousins
arm is not what it was in previous years. And look,
there's a lot of it with Kirk Cousins that could
be coming back from the injury and the wear and
tear on his body. He hasn't built up his arm
strength to the point where he's throwing the football well.
But he's not moving well. He's not doing anything well
right now. Pennix is young, he is healthy. This will

(08:29):
energize the offense. He's gonna be able to get the
ball downfield to the weapons and they'll score on the
opening drive and it will be an avalanche. After that,
they'll completely blow the Giants out. I'm thinking something like
forty one seventeen and really after it's gonna be Pennick
stars and all of a sudden, here come the Falcons.
How dangerous are they? Can they back their way into

(08:50):
the playoffs? All this stuff happening, He's gonna have a huge,
huge game this weekend.

Speaker 3 (08:54):
Schedule is certainly advantageous for them down the stretch, as
we discussed, you know, leading up to the ultimate change,
something we called on for a month watching Kirk Cousins
flail about with his one touchdown, nine interceptions, lack of
lateral movement, interior offensive line issues, which meant, when you've
got an immobile quarterback, guess what, it's that much worse.

(09:18):
So for Michael Pennix Junior, Yeah, the world is set
up for him to put up some numbers. I'd like
to see it. Think that the Giants show a little
bit of pride given the fact that everybody's you know,
already crowning this guy. I mean, he's got thirty eight
passing yards on the year, So I don't I don't
want to dismiss, you know, the fact that you know
he has seen the field before, but it's the you know,

(09:39):
the coronation and that suddenly you know they're going to
be off the chart rate. Defense has been pretty good
at taking the ball away, so perhaps they get some
opportunities here. Giants quarterback position has been in flux, no question,
not saying that they're they're a good team by any stretch,
just it'd be curious if suddenly you know this is

(10:00):
the trigger, because then Raheem Morris asked me like, hey, Raheem,
why didn't you do this week's ago, buddy? We all
watched the disintegration of your quarnerback. Buddy.

Speaker 1 (10:11):
There were forty million reasons this year why we waited
so long to turn the page on Kirk Cousins. They
had a lot of reasons.

Speaker 3 (10:17):
We didn't sell as many hot dogs as we did
the year before. I have, so the revenue streams were down.

Speaker 1 (10:23):
I have no concern. I have no concern with this
because they're not making the move unless they know Pennix
can come in and play well. I think no. I'm
taking credits for bullyings and he's had the whole season
to get used to the NFL. This is not where Hey,
hopefully you learned a lot the first three weeks. It's
time for you to play. He's had a long time,
he's had a long time to get healthy coming off
the College football Championship game last year. He's immersing the offense.

(10:45):
He's immersing what it means to be a pro. And yeah,
his arm strength alone and being able to to what
he does going through his progressions is going to be
able to get the football out right now? Yeah, could
the NFL adjust? Will they adjust after they get some
tape on? I'm sure, And you know, if things don't
go absolutely well for him there there certainly is the
big question that I've always had about Penis is that, yeah,

(11:07):
when plays break down, does he really have the wherewithal
to make things happen? Because that's where he really struggles
because the la you know, Washington basically was, hey, everybody's
open all the time, I'll find somebody on my progression. Well,
plays break down in the NFL at least forty percent
of the time. But this game against the Giants this weekend, yeah,
I don't see that happening, you know, And as you said,

(11:29):
in advantageous schedule the rest of the way. But I
have no doubt this is gonna be a big debut
for Penis. And they're gonna do it to show them off.
They're not gonna do it to say, hey, we're just
gonna hand the football off, because if they wanted to
do that, they'd stick with Cousins and they would say, Okay, Kirk,
we're just not gonna throw and you're just gonna hand
the ball off the entire game, and when we throw
it's gonna be short. We're gonna know they're gonna come

(11:49):
out and say, Okay, watch how electric watch how much
they stretch the field. They're gonna want to say, hey,
we got our guy now, and now it's the Michael
Pennock Show.

Speaker 3 (11:57):
Well, I mean, Kirk Cousins was still winging the ball around,
had thirty five hundred yards, and he threw at least
twenty six passes in every game, now fifty eight to
the outlier and that overtime win against Tampa. But otherwise
you know you're looking at and look, he threw for
five hundred nine yards in that game, but otherwise you
got a lot of two forties or whatever else. But

(12:18):
the attempts have been there throughout, so it hasn't been
completely the Bijon Robinson Show. But I get your point
is that you will mix and match a little bit better.
And Robinson being a good receiver out of the backfield
is another thing you have to watch get implemented here.
I'm more curious on you know, what kind of field
position they get to live from all all day long,

(12:40):
Like that's the bigger side, Like the offense will be fine.
I'm I'm not sweating that because the Giants are toothless there.
It's the what does that Atlanta defense do? I'm more
excited on that side. Is that wrong? Yeah, it's wrong
because it's thirteen sacks in the last three games. You
got guys flying from everywhere, turn overs galore, which means

(13:01):
in theory, kirk Cousins should have had a lot of
opportunities uh to make plays, which is why waiting down
a nine. That's what I mean, just pointing out how
bad he was with extra support from the other side
of the ball. He's because it wasn't all in a vacuum.
He was getting a lot of help from the other
side of the ball and doing nothing with it.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
Look, his completion percentages down from the high it was
middle of the season. Like, he's not throwing the ball
like he does have the up until last week. Yeah,
he still has over three. He has the attempts, but
he's not he's not throwing the passes like he was.
The ball's not there with that same zip. He's not
extending the field like he used to. I mean, this
this is a This is a Kirk Cousins. It clearly

(13:43):
is there is something off with him, whether it is mechanical,
whether it is you know, he's coming back from and
from the injury and maybe he's hit the wall. Whether
it's I've never been comfortable in the offense, whether it's
it's hard for me to play when I have one
but one eye over my shoulder looking at what Pennix
is doing on the sideline. Like but for whatever reason,
like Cousins is not the same guy, and it's it's
not getting bet it wasn't getting better.

Speaker 3 (14:04):
He misses his Harry Potter like Cubby, probably to go
at night, I mean at his accomplishments.

Speaker 1 (14:12):
And there's no TJ Max or Marshalls or Patagonia near
where he lives, and he can't go there and get
closed me. You gotta be happy during the week too, man,
you gotta have a happy, happy away from the field.
Happy on the field.

Speaker 3 (14:24):
Maybe he's not, how about that. Now there's the thirty
for thirty.

Speaker 1 (14:28):
But I'll get I'll get at Pennick Junior at least
three hundred yards, three touchdowns. That's gonna be the debut
for him. And again, the thing we're gonna say is, boy,
why didn't we see this sooner? Why did you do
this sooner? We got the two minute warning right now
at game one of the college football Playoff, and it's
been an amazing comeback by Indiana. No, I just wanted

(14:49):
you to be excited that maybe it might have been
two minutes left to go. Notre Dame up twenty seven
to three over Indiana. They'll be moving on to the
next round of the playoffs. Indiana will be going home.
We got Pete few Ten coming up. He's gonna talk
all the big goings on from tonight. How good Notre
Dame is? Really? Do we see an upset coming up
tomorrow as we look at what college football has for

(15:10):
us in the first full playoff day of the expanded playoff,
we get all that more coming up next. Jason to Mike.
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (15:19):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (15:31):
Fox Sports Radio. Oh, a Christmas song for all of us?
Who is Jason.

Speaker 3 (15:40):
Creator Nickelback?

Speaker 1 (15:41):
Is this? No? No? I think it's Creed. No, It's
not Creed. Spice Girls oh spy. Oh yeah, yeah, I
could tell you know, that was Ginger spic singing. You're right,
You're right, it was ginger spicy spicy, right, very very spicy.

Speaker 3 (15:57):
Yeah, she was very spicy.

Speaker 1 (15:58):
She was my favorite of all the spy girls.

Speaker 3 (16:00):
Spice, How did you buy?

Speaker 1 (16:03):
I like nut as far as you know, I haven't
bought any of them. Uh No, Ginger spice and baby spice,
they are my two favorites I had, Like Posha, I
was like, yeah, everybody loved Pasha. I'm like, no, I
like Ginger and Baby better than I just did.

Speaker 3 (16:19):
Yeah, it was as soon as you dialed up the baby,
just keep it a ginger like you were going to
be left let off the hook, and then and then
you went too far beam she was.

Speaker 1 (16:30):
That was posh.

Speaker 4 (16:31):
Oh yeah, she's she's yeah.

Speaker 1 (16:38):
I remember they remember when they brought in sweaty spice.
That was really that was a big one. Yeah, sweaty
spice was brown, right, it was very difficult. Uh where
do we sit right now? Well, Indiana, I got good
I got double good news for India. I mean it's
not gonna matter, but I have double good news for Indiana.
Indiana on a last gas drive gets the end zone

(17:00):
for a touchdown. They got the two point conversion. It
is a two score game. Twenty seven to eleven on
sidekick for Indiana is recovered by Indiana. A really awful
effort by Notre Dame on the on side kick, like
they were waiting for the ball to come to them

(17:22):
and Indiana went up and got it. So now the
Hoosiers have the ball again. It's a two score game
and two two point conversions. There's a minute thirteen left
and Indiana has the football facing a second and twelve,
so we're gonna have to play this thing out a
little bit more to the end, but in the end,
Notre Dame is gonna wind up winning this game again.
It's a twenty seven to eleven lead, second and twelve

(17:44):
for Indiana. They're at their own forty eight yard line
with event one thirteen left to go in the game.

Speaker 3 (17:50):
They gotta have a little bit of a chaos factor
to things. Man, it was a straight lines, like, hey,
get the viewers to come back.

Speaker 1 (17:57):
Hey boy, if they get the on side kick, hey
call back. Come Eventually, we're there's gonna be for your phone,
Like you're like, there's gonna be some sort of AI
where you're gonna get like a phone call from an
automated type thing going hello, Jason, tune back into Notre
Dame and Indiana. The Indiana Hoosiers just executed and on

(18:18):
side kick and have the football now back with a
minute thirteen left to go, Go turn the game back on.
Like eventually that's gonna happen, Like it's gonna be able
to come right to your phone in a text or
a phone call.

Speaker 3 (18:28):
We already get the updates. We're gonna have a text.
I mean, you can set up alerts so change of possessions,
big plays, whatever.

Speaker 1 (18:34):
You're gonna get phone calls and you're gonna get phone
calls and personalized stuff like from Hey, you know what,
I want to call me with updates. I want Chris
Berman to call me. So you're gonna get AI Chris
Berman to call and go and turn on your television
so you could see who's your daddy's right now with
the football against the fighting Irish spring in their step. Okay,

(18:55):
I know, turn the game on. Okay, click, and you're
gonna we're gonna get that eventually.

Speaker 3 (18:59):
Is you have to pay by the minute for a
service because Berman with the nicknames could really drag that
damn thing out call was nine minutes.

Speaker 1 (19:09):
And it's the life of Riley Leonard to okay, click okay,
click click click. Joining us now on the hotline for
the end of this game is take a look at
what would be next four Notre Dame and what we're
going to see tomorrow. The owner, editor, proprietor of College
Footballnews dot com. You're one stop shopping for everything college football,

(19:29):
all the picks, all the analysis, all the prognostications. It
is pete futech pete. What's happening Bud.

Speaker 5 (19:36):
Indiana is making this interesting for those who, you know,
maybe got a wacky number when the mine frus came out.
But but but you know, and that's what it's all about, right,
and that's what But no, I'm doing all right?

Speaker 1 (19:49):
Are you guys? Been?

Speaker 3 (19:50):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (19:51):
Look what you know? I feel like I'm warmer than
everybody at this game, Like I feel but I just
look at this game. I go everybody's just cold and
can't wait for a tend.

Speaker 5 (19:57):
They just live.

Speaker 3 (20:00):
I live.

Speaker 5 (20:00):
Here is a stupid place to live.

Speaker 1 (20:02):
It just is.

Speaker 5 (20:03):
It's just the home Midwest. I've in punting a section
of the country.

Speaker 1 (20:07):
It's just dumb.

Speaker 5 (20:08):
It just is everybode should live in San Diego or
you know, Miami Beach or someplace warm where it's nice.
You have to deal with this, but no, you know,
we are lucky because what I don't want and I like,
you know, I grew up here and all that. I
kind of dig the whole optics of you know, when
it's snowing and you know people, it's like, but you
don't want these games to be decided by teams that

(20:30):
don't have footing. You know, you don't want you don't
want something quirky or fluky that happens. You don't want
to see them playing a dome. So this is about right,
This is about you know, it's the cold weather game.
There are elements to deal with here, but not enough
to really matter. So this is about as ideal as
it gets. You don't want to play this thing in
a you know, driving snowstorm or something like that. So

(20:52):
that turned out to be right. And then look, you
know it's hilarious about this one game is all of
a sudden, now the Big ten is awful. They're gonna
lose all their games. Indiana, who was overseeded by like
two Spots played a Notre Dame team that was under
sated by two Spots, and look, we just saw what
happens when you get three weeks off to rest and

(21:13):
fully focus and prepare on one team who's got a
lot less talent than you do.

Speaker 1 (21:18):
Pete, you believe it in Notre Dame anymore after this game?
Or is it still you know, maybe I still little
need to show a little bit more.

Speaker 5 (21:26):
I don't believe that they can get away with this.
Riley Leonard, his stats are going to be fine. He's
got to be sharp against Georgia.

Speaker 3 (21:35):
And I kind of.

Speaker 5 (21:37):
Said this to you guys all along this season. I
kind of think that you put Georgia and Ohio State
in the same bucks, even if Carson Beck isn't going
for the Dogs where they are those that NBA team
that the NBA teams that just were like, I don't care,
give us the sixth seed in the NBA playoffs, well
and will be little warriors. Just get us in there
and we'll then turn it up a notch. And then
I just he can't have a media ochre downfield passing

(22:01):
game against Georgia. You're gonna have to be able to
open up, because you're not gonna be able to outphysical
to dogs and run like nor Dame's been doing over
pretty much the most of the season, including tonight against
the Hoosiers.

Speaker 3 (22:13):
Now, even if the Hoosiers were overmatch, right, you reference
the points bread seven was the was the line as
it rolled up. I was surprised we didn't get more
creativity from from Signetty, you know, and that punt and
all that stuff, like all of it says, you know,
you were the gott brash talking guy, Pete, and then
when it came time to play it, you weren't.

Speaker 5 (22:34):
They blow it on the punt. I mean, you gotta
at least you're the all time playing with house money team.
I mean, no one's thinking you're gonna do it, and
no one's dogging you if you don't, you know, make
it from midfield and fourth and ten. But but don't
kick it. Don't don't play field position, especially when nor
Dame's been draining the clock on you all night. What
they needed to do is and they went against type.

(22:55):
It was kind of odd. It was an odd game
plan because they weren't ever going to run Nordy and
I guess that they were trying to mix it up,
and they're trying to soften them up, and they were
setting things up by doing all those back shoulder fades
on the outside, so they get the plays going on
the inside. We got it, but all year, what was
Indiana really good at? It? Said getting the ball out
of Rourke's hands fast, just boom boom, boom boom boom,

(23:18):
just up temple, go go. And it didn't work on
the first drive, and then they just gave up on
it and they kept trying these long plays where you know,
he just didn't get a time against the Irish defensive front,
and you know that that sort of works. So let's
see now, I mean, they get a couple of weeks
to rest. They're not gonna have Carson Beckett Georgia and
they're going to try running about Georgia has been ify

(23:39):
all year in a lot of different ways. And so yeah,
I'm not I'm not just gonna automatically assume that Nordian
doesn't have a you know, a forty seven percent shot
of pulling this off.

Speaker 1 (23:50):
Pete you tech our Gas College Footballnews dot Com, Jason Spith,
Mike Carmon Live from the Tirech dot Com studios. All right,
So now away from this game, we get to the full,
the full slate of games tomorrow. And if I'm looking
for an upset somewhere, I beat. I keep looking at
Clemson in Texas because I go, man, Texas might be
running out of gas. The offense has not been what

(24:11):
it is. Clemson is hot, cub, They're gonna throw it
because you can't run on Texas. And I can see
yours with a couple of turnovers, arch manning and desperation,
and you know, Dabbo complaining about how college football is
and he's waltzing into the next round of the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (24:26):
What I can't see and this is what scares me.
I can't see that at all. And I really well,
because I remember last year. I could not at all,
in any way, in any scenario see Washington beating Texas
in the college football playoffs, and I find it. But
yet Texas somehow managed to do it where they biffed
it that badly by forgetting that, Oh yeah, maybe we should,

(24:50):
you know, let Quinn you were cook a little, let
him throw and you know, just get him going. And
they didn't do it until it was way too late.
It's Texas. They're gonna blow it at some point. It's
either going to be tomorrow, or it's going to be,
you know, in the next round, or I think they
get out. This is the one game I'm pretty sure
of here, Like I could, I could see SMU getting

(25:12):
some quirky hosting, But then I do think tonight's kind
of a foreshadow of what we're about to see where
the Penn State talent just comes up big and just says,
you know what, we're Penn State, You're not. And I
think the King Kong thunder on them a little bit here.
I don't Clemson just isn't that great. So it's going
to have to take Texas biffing it, which they are

(25:33):
not above doing, to blow this game. Because this game
I see is probably being the worst of the three.

Speaker 3 (25:41):
Well, how about the night cap. We've got Tennessee about
a touchdown underdog at Ohio State Ryan Day, all the
swirling rumor conjecture speculation of who would look good in
a good Ohio State sweatshirt or sweater if he were
to lose this one?

Speaker 1 (25:58):
You look great?

Speaker 5 (25:59):
Is Marcus Freeman. And if they I mean that they
figured that. I think it seemed like some agent talked
to nor Dame and figured this one out and said,
you know what, if this fight, they were to lose
this yet Marcus streaman former Ohio State buckey, would probably
be a good option there. So let's get this this,
lock him up a little. Let's just give him a

(26:19):
little more money to make him happy. So uh yeah,
you know that's the big one. I mean, that's it
is kind of weird because that game seems like it
an I was like, wait a minute, okay, you know
that's mu and ten State's cute, and whoever gets Arizona
State next is fine, and Boise State's fine. But this
is Tennessee and Ohio State. This is really adults table.

(26:40):
You know, this is this is kind of it shouldn't
It should not be happening in the first round, right.
It just seems like it should be a you know,
a second round game or that we should be getting
later on. But let's see what Tennessee can do. I
will not. The one shocker would be is if these
two started, you know, going Hagler Herns eighty five in
this and just started trading big off getting shots on

(27:01):
each other. I think it's gonna be low scoring. Both
these defenses are gonna take over. And I do think
that again, three weeks off the Michigan game in the
rearview mirror, I've been waiting for this Ohio State team
to show up and do what they're supposed to do.
I think this might be it, you.

Speaker 1 (27:18):
Know, And the thing is, be you talked about, hey,
this is a game at the adults table. Is it's
not a big adults table, you know, like it's not
like there's a lot of teams where you say, hey, okay,
after this week, here's all the heavyweights because you know, look,
Boise State is seated third, Georgia is not going to
have their quarterback, and so anything can happen there as
good as Oregon is being undefeated. I know we've talked about,
yeahs Oregon really that good. So I don't know that

(27:40):
there's a big there's a big adults table in Ohio.
State can still easily make this a situation where they're
right where we thought they were at the beginning of
the season. Where if they're not playing for the national championship,
something's wrong.

Speaker 5 (27:52):
Oh I'm un changed from January of you know, almost
ten months eleven months ago I'm still sticking with Ohio
State versus Jordana for the national title. No reason that
change that from there. But you say that, but as
we speak somewhere out there, if you listen really quietly,
someone just popped the bubble bottle of the really good

(28:12):
stuff that it's Notre Dame Georgia over there in the
ESPN executive studios as opposed to Indiana Georgia, because this
would have been, you know, if Indiana had pulled this off,
this would have been the NCAA ternament situation where we
have Central Directional State beating Duke in the second round,
and I'll show you a ninety five thirty you know
score coming up next, or TCU Georgia from a couple

(28:35):
of years ago. I think now nor name Georgia is
a thing. All of a sudden, the ratings goes through
the roof Indiana Georgia. Dude, after about two drives, it's like, yeah, no,
that's not happening.

Speaker 1 (28:47):
He's on Twitter at Pete Feutech. That is, at Pete Feutech.
Check out college Footballnews dot com all the picks, all
the analysis, you need, your one stop shopping for everything
college football. Pete enjoyed the games Toora Man and we'll.

Speaker 5 (29:00):
Talk to you absolutely. Yeah, guys, have a great weekend.

Speaker 1 (29:02):
See anybody that there goes Pete Futach and on Q.
It is a final. Notre Dame has defeated Indiana. What
was the final score? Did my best out Michaels For
those of you who might be interested in something like that,
we want to know, let's find out from Special to
Live for Steve to Saga christ.

Speaker 4 (29:21):
I say was twenty seven to three Notre Dame and
that was with under two minutes left, twenty seven to
seventeen the final over the Hoosiers, who missed a late
two point pass. So the Irish do advance. Number two
ranked Georgia is off until it's Sugar Bowl quarterfinal New
Year's Night against Notre Dame. But for much of this
game tonight, and this was at Notre Dame Stadium in

(29:43):
the temperature in the twenties, well, the offense was cold
for Indiana. For most of the game they were under
one hundred yards passing and under fifty yards rushing, and
then a lot of offense. In the last two minutes.
Each team had been eleven to one coming in. There
are the normal run of the Mill Bowl games still
going on. Florida one in Tampa today beating Tulane thirty
three eight Gators led six nothing at the half. It

(30:05):
was thirty three nothing Florida in the final minute of
that one. In Orlando, Ohio you thirty to twenty seven
winners against Jacksonville State, holding on Ohio led twenty seven
to seven at the half. A reminder, Number one ranked
Oregon is off until it's Rose Bowl quarterfinal against the
winner of Tennessee at Ohio State, which will be played
Saturday night. SMU opens its postseason at cold Penn State. Yes,

(30:28):
it'll be cold at the Ohio State game. Couple more
where temperatures will be in the twentiest tomorrow. Clemson opens
at Texas tomorrow. Texas eleven and two this season, both
losses to Georgia. Michael Vick is officially the new head
coach at Norfolk State, close to his hometown. The Baltimore
Ravens cut wide receiver Deontae Johnson and wide receiver Nelson
Aguilore with a concussion, is out for the Saturday game

(30:50):
on Fox TV against the Steelers four thirty pm Eastern Time.
Star at Pittsburgh wide receiver George Pickens is still out
with a bad hamstring. The Chiefs activated wide receiver hollywod
With Brown Saturday, Kansas City hosts the Texans. He had
been on IR with a shoulder injury. Philadelphia wipe out
aj Brown says he will play this weekend despite a
knee injury. Sunday, the Eagles are at Washington. Dolphins wide

(31:12):
receiver Jalen Waddle, with a knee injury, is doubtful for
Sunday against the forty nine Ers. He missed practice all week.
San Francisco running back Isaac Wrendo out with foot and
ankle hamstring injuries. Meanwhile, Christian Walker, Arizona first baseman, is
reportedly going to Houston on a three year, sixty million
dollar deal. In the last three seasons for Arizona, the

(31:32):
averaged over thirty home runs and won three Gold Gloves. Tonight,
the Reds got in trade catcher Jose Travino from the Yankees.
The Red Sox agreed to sign pitcher Patrick Sandoval, who
had Tommy John surgery this past summer. Just three NBA
games Philadelphia.

Speaker 3 (31:47):
Over Charlotte one eight ninety eight.

Speaker 4 (31:49):
Is Joel Embiid returned from the sinus fracture and had
thirty four points nine assists. Cleveland rit Milwaukee won twenty
four to one to oh one. The Cabs record twenty
four and four. Oklall, I'm a city one at seventh
in a row one oh four ninety seven at Miami
for the heat. Jimmy Butler left due to illness. Luka
Doncich and the Mavericks will be out again Saturday with
the Bruce heal. John Morant to the Grizzlies is doubtful

(32:11):
with a bad back. In women's college basketball on FS
one right now, number one UCLA is dominating Creighton thirty
three eighteen late in the first half. NHL wins for
Utah and the Rangers.

Speaker 3 (32:22):
Back to you, Thank you.

Speaker 1 (32:23):
Steve oh Now, real quick, you mentioned the Christian Walker signing,
you know, three years, sixty million. This is really really
bad news if you have a power hitting first baseman
as a client who you're hoping to land a big
long term contract for. Because this is a guy that
you give more than twenty million dollars a year or two.

(32:44):
Right the Christian Walker, I know he's thirty four, gonna
be thirty four but last three years, thirty home runs
between eighteen one hundred RBI three gold gloves Like this
is a guy who gets, hey, maybe you don't get
longer than the three or do you get three and
one hundred? You know you get you don't get? You
don't get three at sixty like this is whoa. So
if this is the market for him, it's gonna be

(33:04):
much less for Pete Alonzo. And I'll tell you what.
At this point, I would say he's heading back to
the Mets with a short term deal something like this
Christian Walker and he's you know, I'm not gonna take
a chance somewhere else. Maybe I'll get another bite at
the free agency Apple in a couple of years, but
I'll go back for you know, two years and sixty
million or something like that. But that's what's gonna happen.

(33:25):
This Walker deal was a huge eye opener.

Speaker 3 (33:27):
Gu's where he doesn't play anymore?

Speaker 1 (33:29):
Where does the Dodgers Stadium?

Speaker 3 (33:32):
Thank goodness, he was.

Speaker 1 (33:35):
He was a Dodger killer man. That's why I'm always excited.
I'm always excited when guys leave, like I was, even
though I said it, I was excited when Max Freed
went to the Yankees, and I'm like, Yank, you haven't care.
He's not in the end at least anymore. I'm gonna
worry about that.

Speaker 3 (33:47):
In the end, you know, he's a first baseman. Yeah,
eighty eighty five rbi and hitting two fifty. There's plenty
of those guys. You can rotate it.

Speaker 1 (33:57):
Yeah, but a gold glove first basement too, And I
mean that's that. That's a depressed market for first basement man. Uh, Jason,
Mike Fox Sports Radio coming up next. You want a
hot take coming off? We need a hot take because
it was like zero degrees at this game. You want
a hot take coming off? And Notre Dames went over Indiana.
We got it for you. That's next right here, Jason

(34:17):
and Mike Fox. Notre Dames winning it all? Wow, that
would be hot, Alex. Where does Notre Dame play what state? Illinois?

Speaker 3 (34:29):
I mean they might as well.

Speaker 1 (34:31):
Yeah, No, I like, do you corrected yourself for a
city to a state? Very nice? Yes, it wasn't the
right one, but it's fine. It's good. It's good. It's good. Oh,
South Bend, Indiana. That's wow. Thank Frostburg for telling you.

Speaker 3 (34:41):
That very specific. Thank you Sir Frostburg.

Speaker 2 (34:47):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (35:03):
It's a very thrashing Christmas Sports Radio. And then they
can make a movie like that, right, Hollmark? Could it
be outside of the box? Hey? It's about a thrash
metal guy, you know, tired of the road. He reconnects
with a girl that he knew in high school, just
happens to be in the town doing a gig there,
and he goes back. He's ready to give it up.

(35:25):
He doesn't fit in, of course, because he's got tattoos
and everything else, and it's a really straight lace town
and nobody likes him and he thinks it's never gonna
work and no one's gonna accept a guy like him.
And wait, wait, this is a movie. I just that's
a movie. Just described a movie.

Speaker 3 (35:40):
But isn't part of that what had kind of happens
to Wahlberg and Oliphant in Rock Star.

Speaker 1 (35:47):
A little bit? A little bit except you know, you know,
you don't see him again until the very end. But
like the whole movie is going to be about this
thrash metal singer and this this this girl from high
school that yeah, no, no, she's really straight lace. It's
like an odd upple kind of thing. And is he
ever gonna fit in? Can he give up his ways?
He'll get a phone call to go back on the road.
He's got to make a decision, and like, of course,

(36:08):
he decides to go on the road, but then then
decides he wants to go back. But before he goes back,
he's he's her like painted up all goth like right
in the front, and she's thrashing along to him and
they kiss in the march pit and everything. That's a movie.
There you go. That's a that's a that is an
edgy Hallmark Christmas movie right there.

Speaker 3 (36:25):
That is pretty good because we lost the star of
our other movie.

Speaker 2 (36:30):
Just like that.

Speaker 1 (36:31):
Let letos got other stuff going on. Now, yeah, that's
all right, we'll get somebody else in our jets movie.
It's okay, we'll get somebody else.

Speaker 3 (36:36):
Morus two the Ja unless it's not among the movies
that will never be made.

Speaker 1 (36:42):
Oh Morbius too.

Speaker 3 (36:43):
If I were suddenly a lottery winner, like what's my
cash payout? Never wants out, They're never gonna make more
passion project from Mike Herman.

Speaker 1 (36:55):
That is never gonna happen.

Speaker 3 (36:58):
Mournus dude.

Speaker 1 (37:01):
All right, so you want a hot take here coming
off this note over Indiana? Okay, Now, it's just been
one game. We have the the rest of the slate tomorrow,
right Clemson, Texas and Tennessee, Ohio State, SNU, Penn State.
Uh now Notre Dame moves on to play Georgia. Ask
me who I like to win the national championship for?

Speaker 3 (37:19):
Who do you like to win the national titles?

Speaker 1 (37:22):
Ask me who right now? And is this is a
hot take? Is this is a very hot take? Ask
me get to say, who do you like to win
the national title?

Speaker 3 (37:29):
Jason Jason Smith? Yes, your timer begins. Now, who are
you choosing to be your national championship winner in the
inaugural twelve team playoff?

Speaker 1 (37:45):
To win the national championship this year? Right now, at
this moment in time.

Speaker 3 (37:49):
That's a lot of filibus string I like answer.

Speaker 1 (37:52):
Yeah, but this has been in game shows. That's how
you do it. You can't just sit here and say,
uh d final answer.

Speaker 3 (38:00):
Hey man, I'm gonna win a million dollars.

Speaker 1 (38:02):
Let's talk about this for a second. Hang on, so hasty.
Let's final answer, ah D final final final answer. Lock
it in and chum me the answer. Now Wait a minute,
Wait a minute. We got we got some time to
fell here, uh to win the National championship right now,
this moment in time. I like nobody. I don't like
anybody in the play.

Speaker 3 (38:23):
I might be they don't selection after don't I do
if you choose not to decide, I don't like him
by Joyce.

Speaker 1 (38:31):
If I knew Carson Beck was going to be healthy,
I would like Georgia. I would say, George is gonna
be that they're they're gonna find their way back all
the doubting of them. But he's not. And that's a
big question mark. And after Notre Dame played tonight, they
didn't look like a team that, hey, we're ready to
win and and and win our way through two more
games in the National Championship. I'm not believing Boise State
or Arizona State. I like Oregon, but boy, I just

(38:54):
I just don't like them enough to say, yeah, I
know they're undefeated, they want all their games. I just
don't like them. They may wind up winning by default,
but Okay, you know Ohio State I like, But Ohio
State's got to play Oregon, and that's a real early
game to have. I don't like anybody right now. If
you if you put a gun to my head, I
would say I would hope for the for the continued

(39:14):
health of Carson Beck getting back. Even though he's just
been up and down this year, he's still their best quarterback.
But I would, I would. I would bet on Georgia
to win it all if you had to, I would
hope for his health to win on Georgia. But outside,
I don't like anybody. I really that that's the only
team I somewhat kind of like. And I don't have
a quarterback, So I don't know what to tell you.
I don't like anybody.

Speaker 3 (39:32):
I mean, I do like that that Oregon's rocking, the
the Kobe's, I mean those are pretty good looking.

Speaker 1 (39:37):
Yeah, those are fun that win, win or lose, you're
gonna look good. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (39:41):
So that's good because if you look good, you feel good,
you feel good, you're gonna play good. Yon Brady, I mean,
we've had a lot of folks that have used that
through the years. Yeah, I can't pick against Oregon and
Dylan Gabriel and what that offense can do. I mean,
they they have the explosives, you know, like the one
we were supposed to see from in I think Oregon

(40:01):
can actually run through with that tough road for them,
no question.

Speaker 1 (40:05):
We got more college football on the way, plus we
