the internet? iHeartRadio app? You let us know, and we
just were curious, where are you listening to the show,
and how you're listening to the show now that we're
done with the holidays, Bertie, now we're done with Christmas?

Speaker 4 (01:28):
You got anything planned.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
From now to New Year's One of our listeners said
he's going to be in a.

Speaker 4 (01:32):
Poker tournament tomorrow, and.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
He quoted you. He goes, I hope I break even.
I have bills to payne.

Speaker 5 (01:43):
Yeah, right on the track tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (01:45):
Back you were going to be in any tournaments or
anything coming up to New.

Speaker 6 (01:48):
Year's I've got a few nice one of my favorite.
My wife and I like fine dining. They got a
few nice dinners lined up. We had one last night.
But I'm working pretty much every night. I'm doing Mallor
Thursday night. My show's Friday and Saturday. Do Mallard Sunday
and Malord Tuesday, which is New Year's Eve, So uh,
that will be my How about you, Ernie, I've gotta
be we gotta believe Colchester's rocking and rolling this time

(02:11):
of year.

Speaker 4 (02:12):
Yeah, yeah, Colchester's rocking the road.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
I'm working tomorrow with Martin Weiss, We're in the same
time slot. Uh, and then of course my regular show
on Sunday. Then I'm also working New Year's Eve, but
not New Year's Day because obviously you got all the
games going on there. So I'll be on New Year's Eve,
so you can go ahead and check me out with
Chris Plank in the same, very same time. So lots

(02:34):
going on. A lot of peopy people take a little
time off, a little holiday time, you know, Bernie gotta
get the Holly vacations.

Speaker 5 (02:40):
There. Can I just say one thing.

Speaker 6 (02:42):
Yeah, I've got a tremendous amount of research on on
drafting quarterbacks in the first round, and uh, there's only
been a couple of quarterbacks since the inception of the
draft that have gotten the team that drafted them to
the Super Bowl.

Speaker 5 (02:58):
But here's here's the more important thing.

Speaker 6 (03:01):
Of the last forty five first round quarterbacks drafted, only
one to one of Super Bowl. That's Patrick Mahomes. And
here's the here's the bigger issue. Only six of the
forty five got their teams to a conference championship game,
forget the Super Bowl while on the rookie deal, and

(03:23):
four of them lost lost. Was it no he got
I'm talking about the last forty five Marino. Marino goes
back to nineteen eighty three, So this is this is
we'll deal with the here and now in the salary
cap era. So you got oh no, that's forty years, okay,
I mean there's there's first round Marino's year.

Speaker 5 (03:43):
There were six guys drafted in the first round alone
in eighty three.

Speaker 6 (03:46):
So since eighty three there have been you know, well
over one hundred and twenty five quarterbacks in the first round.
But just in the last mahomes Borough Golf got their
teams to their championship game while on the rookie deal.
So did Josh Allen but lost, so to Blake Bortle's loss.
So Andrew luck lost. What happened to the other thirty nine?

(04:08):
The guys like the Trey Lances and Sean Watson's and
everybody was picking on Sam Darnold till now. Then Mitch
Trubisky's I am telling you this is a crapshoot. I
just wanted to get that out of my So what.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
Do you make him Caleb Williams at a crab shoot
or he's the real deal.

Speaker 5 (04:22):
Well, there's no way to know.

Speaker 6 (04:24):
I want to give the man thirty starts, but I
don't like to. No, he's not the real deal. He's
physically gifted. He does not have the temperament to be
a major league franchise quarterback at this stage.

Speaker 5 (04:37):
So I'll say no.

Speaker 6 (04:38):
Look, if i'm drafting number one overall, I'm taking Travis
Hunter because I want my first round draft pick to
get on the field and say I can plug that
guy's a starter for five years and he would primarily
play defense. I know he's got his panties in a
bunch because he wants to play both ways. Chuck Bednarracane
walking through that door. You're not playing both ways. However,

(04:58):
if you want to get the occasional snap on offense, fine,
we know, we got we know, and maybe even some
kick returns, which I'm still not sure i'd want that.
But here's the guy you plug into your lineup, is
maybe a lockdown corner for years. All right, that's the
guy I want that's gonna step onto the field and
be a franchise guy. There's no way to know if
a quarterback can do that. There's no way to know

(05:22):
till the real bullets start to fly.

Speaker 3 (05:23):
Right, you want to be part of the show at
Bernie Fradlewitz take a genius one.

Speaker 4 (05:27):
Where are you listening to the show. How you listen
to the show?

Speaker 3 (05:29):
Happy Holidays, said FSC Boss, saying he's mad Steeler fan
and a fellow Finns fan. Are you on dessert number
two or number four? Arnie listening to Fox on a
radio station USA dot com go Boise state.

Speaker 4 (05:47):
I didn't pound, then he did. I took a picture of.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
My dinner tonight, which was Hamburger, no onion, rings, no fries.

Speaker 4 (05:53):
My wife doesn't believe in that for some reason.

Speaker 5 (05:56):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (05:56):
Why. How do you have a Hamburger with no fries,
no one your rings, Bernie?

Speaker 5 (05:59):
That seems an American to me.

Speaker 4 (06:01):
Ernie, Oh, it's very ut.

Speaker 5 (06:02):
No sides, just.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
Playing on hamburger, Yes, exactly, no sides, no sides, zero
anything to drink with an Oh, there was broccoli, But
who the hell is eating the broccoli?

Speaker 4 (06:11):
You know? I mean, I'm not I'm not doing that.

Speaker 5 (06:13):
I mean, is there any evidence that eating broccoli makes
you healthier and living with No?

Speaker 3 (06:16):
There's zero evidence about that. Overnight, Jo said Bertie and Lardie.
The Rome Everett push was set up. How else would
you directed know to go to a two shot before
the It was all fake.

Speaker 4 (06:28):
I don't know what a too exactly.

Speaker 6 (06:32):
That's great, we could all and thanks for listening. By
the way, this happened in nineteen ninety six, there's no
evidence that this was was staged. It's an opinion, and
and so's mine. Okay, mine's an opinion. But having met
in both, I will tell you you cannot convince me
either one would have agreed to that and and realized
what resultant benefit there would have been from that charade?

Speaker 5 (06:54):
How would they have benefited from that?

Speaker 3 (06:57):
Jason said, My question for stick a Genus and Bernie Fraddle,
do either of you buy the Pete Carroll wanting of
the coach? Ye, there's a twenty oh. I believe he
wants the coach, and I believe he's got a zero
percent chance of getting it.

Speaker 4 (07:08):
Why would they want him?

Speaker 3 (07:10):
He's too old, time has passed him by, unless it's
going to be a stop gap for a year or
two until they get somebody else they want. I don't
know why they would want him. Bernie, I see zero
percent chance they get because he has a.

Speaker 6 (07:23):
Track record of winning, and he's also a quarterback greu
and he may be able to settle. He may I
would not be so dismissive of that, all right, And
I would never relegate people who look, either you can
do the job or you can't. I don't care what
your age is. He coaches Seahawks for fourteen years. He

(07:45):
provided him the most sustained excellence in franchise history. Arnie,
you got a good memory coming after what happened at
USC and hiring was panned. Right, he was almost sixty
years old then.

Speaker 5 (07:59):
But oh, Seattle made the playoffs ten times when.

Speaker 6 (08:02):
It's only Super Bowl championship with Pete Carolyn Charge got
back another year, Right, So you can bring in a
Ben Johnson, who's a brilliant offensive coordinator. I but here's
the problem. When you go from being a coordinator to
a head coach, it's an entirely different skill set. You

(08:23):
become a CEO of entire organization. When you're a coordinator,
you're the head coach of the offense or the head
coach of the defense.

Speaker 5 (08:28):
That's it.

Speaker 6 (08:29):
There's this presumption that because of his incredible creative play calling,
that he could turn the Bears around. I've seen this
a thousand times. They need somebody in charge now. Look,
and Rex Ryan wants to go back to the Jets, right,
I got.

Speaker 5 (08:46):
Let me just take it quick. Marv Levy story. Yes, Jay,
Marv coached until.

Speaker 6 (08:50):
He was seventy four and then retired and the owner,
he's a famous insurance guy for Mitch Roth. Wilson begged
him not to quit at least let me hire in
the front office. So Marv was kind of a consult
almost till he was eighty, and he's still with us,
and he's like ninety eight years old. One of my
favorite things to do when I did Lion Sprint post
ten years is you go to the fifth floor in

(09:11):
the cafeteria and you see the visiting teams of visiting
media and you're having lunch and meet people. Marv Levy
had just released his book when Buffalo came through town.
Now Marv was not head coach of the Bills. Then
I'm going to say this is probably around two thousand
and five, two thousand and four. I was doing postgame
show and I wanted to talk to Marve. Couldn't have
been more gracious, right, And he wrote the book where

(09:31):
else would You Rather Be? And what that book was
about Arnie was his career as a coach and how
he got a start and everything and he came up
with the title because in the nineteen ninety one Super
Bowl when that kid go on offense almost beat the
Giants and poor Scott Norwood missed that field goal. The
four Falls of Buffalo to this day is my favorite.

(09:52):
ESPN thirty for thirty. They were sitting there and Marv's
ready to do his pregames peach, and all of a sudden,
the Blue Angels Flaverhead and the bands playing, the crowds cheering,
everybody's going nuts. He didn't know what to say, just
looks at the steam and says, guys or else, would
you rather be right? And that was the title of
his book. I said, Marv, I read your book, and
I did. I said, what blew me away is you're
this aspirational coach. You wanted to be in the NFL,

(10:14):
but you're forty years old and you're still coaching in
high school. He goes, hey, I was a forty year
old high school JV coach, so it's never too late.
He could, you can either do the damn job or
you can't write He can, Carol can do the job
right now seventy two.

Speaker 4 (10:35):
I think, wow, Wow? Why is that a wow?

Speaker 5 (10:40):
The job yeah, go ahead, Arnie.

Speaker 3 (10:42):
Well, it's a while because that is up there in age.
There's no doubt about it. That would be that would
probably be the highest head coach ever ever hired at
that age.

Speaker 5 (10:51):
No, Red Klots worked a lot of years, I think
with the old Washington Generals.

Speaker 4 (10:56):
Yeah, but seventy two wasn't his first year being high that.

Speaker 5 (10:59):
Yeah, but this is in his first job either.

Speaker 3 (11:01):
And you think Pete Carroll would do a good job
for the Chicago Bears.

Speaker 5 (11:05):
I think he's highly capable. I don't know. There was
a few.

Speaker 4 (11:08):
By the way, there was a feud about that.

Speaker 6 (11:09):
You can't get any worse about this dumpster fire there?
Are you kidding me?

Speaker 3 (11:13):
I think Florio put out the story and Shifter or
was it Shifter that put out the story in Florio
said none of this is true. Uh, stop with the
lies or something. Merry Christmas. So they're even feuding on.

Speaker 5 (11:27):
None none of what's true.

Speaker 3 (11:29):
Pete Carroll's wants to go to the Bears or Pete
Carroll have interested in each other.

Speaker 6 (11:34):
I guess it's been reported by multiple reputable I'm just
told these agencies and not only that the reason.

Speaker 4 (11:41):
Now you're going to make me pull up the feud,
is what you're going to make me do?

Speaker 3 (11:44):
Share our producer, pull up the feud on Twitter between
them and read it to us because I have to
find that.

Speaker 4 (11:50):
But go ahead, Bertie, what were you going to say?
What were you going to say?

Speaker 5 (11:52):
There?

Speaker 6 (11:52):
Well, apparently this is a rumor they started weeks ago.
And because of this, the specificity of it, not only
wanting Carroll not only wanting to return, but he's got
his eye on the Bears. I think there's a merit
to it now that am I saying he's gonna get
the job? No, am I saying he's even going to

(12:14):
be interviewed for the job.

Speaker 5 (12:16):
I don't know.

Speaker 6 (12:16):
They talk about Mike Vrabel, they talk about Ben Johnson,
but I would at least talk to be to Pete Carroll.
He's always had, you know, I think his influence leader
pizza leader. Leadership is influence based on trust you've earned,
which I believe he has. Okay, He's only one four
head coaches in the history of football to lead a

(12:38):
team to a national championship in college and a Super Bowl,
all right, And the others are like Jimmy Johnson and
Jim Harbaugh. So okay, let's not be so quick to
be so dismissive of Pete Carroll.

Speaker 3 (12:54):
I just don't know if that's the way they want
to go, Bernie.

Speaker 4 (12:57):
I would think I would go in a different direction,
you know what I mean?

Speaker 6 (13:00):
I think and I think that's ultimately what'll happen. But
since the show's tonight, and do I believe it's true, Yeah,
I believe Pete's interested, all.

Speaker 3 (13:09):
Right, A couple of the things, Like I said, if
you want to get in that, Bernie, freddo ad stinking
genius one Rod says, always great to hear from you guys.
On AM nine seventy, which is in Los Angeles. He
happens to be listening in Bakersfield, California, sixty seventy years
young and still getting it done.

Speaker 4 (13:26):
Bernie, that's a great single.

Speaker 6 (13:27):
A baseball town, Bakersfield Dodgers, Man, I'm being serious. It's
a part of the California League.

Speaker 3 (13:34):
Oh, I know exactly where Bakersfield is. And by the way,
they wanted me to give you a correction there. Walmart
employees have to come into ten pm to stock the
store for the next day.

Speaker 4 (13:44):
Love the show. It's not open tonight, but they love
this show.

Speaker 5 (13:48):
But didn't you say one city was going to open
at midnight or sent?

Speaker 4 (13:51):
I don't know. He said he was there, so I
didn't know if they were going to open up.

Speaker 6 (13:54):
All right, that's good, listen, that's good Walmart knowledge, exactly big,
he's some good Walmart knowledge.

Speaker 4 (13:59):
Bernie should do for sure?

Speaker 3 (14:02):
Is that?

Speaker 4 (14:03):
There you go? That's the that's what you want to
I like that. Should that's not bad, that's that's not bad.

Speaker 5 (14:13):
A for creativity. If you were, would you let's pander
for Sanders?

Speaker 4 (14:19):
There you go?

Speaker 3 (14:20):
If you were, should do Sanders? Would you want to
play for the Giants or for the Raiders?

Speaker 5 (14:25):
Oh, I'd rather much rather play for the Raiders. I'm
sure Sanders.

Speaker 4 (14:29):
Because of what just being in Las Vegas or.

Speaker 6 (14:32):
Well, look, there's a mistake still that the Raiders have
been living on for one hundred years and the Raider
Nation is just an incredible fan base, just incredible.

Speaker 5 (14:42):
Uh, Arnie.

Speaker 6 (14:43):
I got to tell you a game day here at
the Leaguing Stadium on Sundays is it's an event.

Speaker 5 (14:48):
Okay. And here's the thing.

Speaker 6 (14:50):
If you come to the Raiders and you somehow get
them back to the Super Bowl, forget it. Man, you're
Mount Rushmore right, the New York Giant. That whole vibe
just feels stinky.

Speaker 5 (15:02):
It just does.

Speaker 3 (15:04):
And I hate Raiders just lost ten in a row
before winning their last game, So let's let's back up
a little bit here. Plus, it's not like their owner
is very wealthy that he's throwing money around to Bernie.

Speaker 5 (15:18):
Well, look, you asked me a question.

Speaker 6 (15:21):
Yeah, I'd rather go to the Raiders than the Giants
if i'm if I'm Shoe Door Sanders, and I don't
know that either one is a lock. I think Shood
or Sanders has a lot of pluses. He's got a
lot of physical ability. He does hold the ball too long,
He's got some you know, and you know, I don't know.

Speaker 5 (15:40):
And then I don't buy the whole thing about Dion
coaching that I don't buy right right?

Speaker 4 (15:44):
What about Ward? Is he the answer to a team
or no?

Speaker 6 (15:48):
You're never gonna known till they get twenty seven starts?
I hate to be so evasive on this cam Ward.
Cam Ward probably has better physical tools and probably has
more than Shoodoor Sanders, right, and he might even be
more projectable at this point, But until you put him

(16:09):
under center and put him in a in a shotgun.
You just don't know, and you don't know the quarterback, coach,
offensive cordiator, a damic. You don't know what city is
gonna play in, cold Weather City, Dome City.

Speaker 5 (16:25):
There's just a million variables.

Speaker 3 (16:26):
Shane says, listening to you guys on iHeartRadio and work
from Crescent City, California. Merry Christmas to you and Bernie.
Great show. We appreciate that.

Speaker 4 (16:35):
That's outside of Los Angeles and Navy Center.

Speaker 3 (16:38):
Says listening on ninety six y five the Fan in
Kansas City. My friend, you've been out there, Bernie, great
Barbara many times.

Speaker 6 (16:46):
Well, I've been to the local barbecues and I've also
been to Gates Barbecue. Kansas City is a great city.
Been to the old Kaufman Stadium in I've been to Arrowhead.
It's as noisy as everybody says. They got this and
Fried Chicken place in the right field outside of where
the Royals play.

Speaker 5 (17:03):
Great food there, you know, great people is It's a
cool city. Kansas City.

Speaker 3 (17:07):

Fox Sports Radio on my Amazon Echo here in Salem, Oregon. Bernie,
my fiance, her son and I were lucky enough to
get the food for Christmas.

Speaker 4 (17:20):
Hopefully you guys have the perfect medicine. Lol. That kind
of sucks, you know, you got the whole family down.

Speaker 6 (17:27):
There is kind of a nationwide pen endemic going around.
People are sick.

Speaker 5 (17:31):
Man.

Speaker 6 (17:32):
Yeah, there's a bug. There's a tremendous bug going around here.

Speaker 3 (17:35):
I was listening to us in ninety six five the
fan in Lawrence, Kansas.

Speaker 5 (17:41):
Lawrence, Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas. Okay, there you go. Is that
someone else in Kansasity and Lawrence, Kansas.

Speaker 3 (17:47):
Yeah, one in Lawrence, Kansas, one in.

Speaker 4 (17:50):
Salem, Oregon.

Speaker 3 (17:51):
So they're all over the place, Bernie, They're they're listing
all over on this Christmas. Let us know where you're
listening and how you're listening. It's real simple at Bernie
Fratto ads thinking genius one. So we'll go ahead and
we'll take more of your tweets. A little later on,
we got to recap what happened today, what we're looking

(18:11):
forward to tomorrow. We got three games in the NFL
on Saturday, and then of course a full boat of
games in week sixteen. Week sixteen or were seventeen, Bernie,
I can't even week seven.

Speaker 5 (18:22):
We're in week sixteen currently Week seventeen. In week eighteen,
so we're in week sixteen currently.

Speaker 6 (18:28):
Still okay, Well, whatever we got for s after this weekend,
every team has two more games, so that'll be week seventeen,
Week eighteen.

Speaker 4 (18:37):
All right, we'll get into all that coming up next.

Speaker 3 (18:41):
Bernie Fraddo, Arnie spani You're in for Jason Smith and

best pistrabe sandwich in Las Vegas, Bernie, I can't even
get pastrami in the whole state of Vermont Burne, I
can't even get that.

Speaker 5 (19:40):
Weiss's Delhi on Sunset Avenue.

Speaker 4 (19:42):
I'm gonna have my family sandwich.

Speaker 6 (19:44):
I think wis Deli with a winking and nodded the
Bagel Cafe up on Buffalo Seriously.

Speaker 3 (19:50):
The Russian kid says, Ernie and Bernie, what an amazing
combo for tonight's show. Happy holidays to all Fox Sports
Radio family from day Ohio, home of the University of
Dayton Flyers. Shout out to all my truck drivers who
could not make it home. You guys are the real
Santas out there. Yeah, please be careful. We had a

(20:11):
little bit of so though.

Speaker 4 (20:11):
I don't think there's a lot of bad weather throughout
the country during the holidays.

Speaker 6 (20:16):
And pretty mild and very mild. I think by and large,
I mean there's some pockets, but for the most part.

Speaker 3 (20:23):
Alexander said, Hey, also listening in Kansas City. Love listening
to your show every Sunday night. Also love Bernie's show.
I'm listening on ninety six point five the fan in KCMO.

Speaker 4 (20:36):
On an alarm clock radio. Merry Christmas. PS.

Speaker 3 (20:40):
Next time you guys visit Kansas City, make sure you
try Rosedale's barbecue. It's amazing. Well, you know what city's from,
Kansas City, Bernie. The Kansas City Chiefs going for three
in a row. They're going for the three peet here.
They beat Philadelphia two years ago. Now, actually Kansas City's
fifteen to one. Next week is the last week.

Speaker 6 (21:00):
Bernie, I misspoke. I was about to correct myself. I apologize.

Speaker 4 (21:04):
That's all right.

Speaker 3 (21:05):
Kansas City beat photoph you have thirty eight, thirty five,
they beat San Francisco, twenty five, twenty two, Ken they
three beat Bertie?

Speaker 4 (21:14):
What are you think of?

Speaker 5 (21:14):
My friend?

Speaker 6 (21:15):
They absolutely can and I again, someone's going to have
to go through Arrowhead gee how whatever you call it.
And I don't know if I don't think the Ravens
can do it, and I don't know if Buffalo can
do it. So let me let's pay off a teas
we talked about in the first hour. Yeah, you when
you juxtapose what the Chiefs are doing compared to all

(21:37):
the other teams who have won back to back Super Bowls,
All right, last team to do it were the New
Zeland Patriots in three and O four, you O five
they lost in the divisional round to.

Speaker 5 (21:52):
I think Denver.

Speaker 6 (21:54):
But and then prior to that, you had in nineteen
ninety seven, nineteen ninety eight Broncos with Lway. In nineteen
ninety nine they finished six to ten. Okay, so this
is in SUEZI they're fifty to one. How about that
great Dallas Cowboys team when Barry Switzer took over, they
won it ninety four. The following year they got beat

(22:14):
by the New York Giants in the opening round, turned
the ball over five times. The legendary Bill Walsh San
Francisco forty nine Ers lost in the first round or
the NFC Championship to the Giants in the Super Bowl
against Buffalo. The vaunted Pittsburgh Steelers team that beat the
Rams in nineteen eighty they missed the playoffs the following

(22:35):
season for the first time in ten years. And finally,
even that great Miami Dolphins team lost to the Raiders
in the first round.

Speaker 5 (22:45):
The first team to.

Speaker 6 (22:45):
Ever repeat with the first two years of the Super Bowl,
Vince Lombardi's Packers. Phil Benston took over in sixty eight.
They went six and seven, didn't even make the playoffs.
So the fact, given the injuries this team has had, etc.
And they get everybody's best shot, and they play a
tough schedule, and they're in a very competitive division, but

(23:09):
with a Hall of Fame coach or Hall of Fame quarterback,
a Hall of Fame tight end championship DNA, and the
ability to call up greatness whenever greatness is required. The
fact that they're fifteen and one is mind boggling in
and of itself after winning back to back Super Bowls.

Speaker 3 (23:25):
Right, well, let me ask you this, the fact that
they are trying to accomplish something that's almost unheard of.
Why do you not think that people are making a
bigger deal about this. Why do you think that the
more team, the more fans that their teams are out
of the playoffs are not jumping on Kansas City and
rooting for them. Why are they not having this swell
of fans behind them saying we're watching something historic.

Speaker 4 (23:49):
It's like it's no big deal.

Speaker 6 (23:51):
Yeah, that's a really good point, because the group think
echo Chamber does not trust the fact that the Chiefs
record matches what you consider the pathetam theorem. They won
today's game by nineteen points. But for the most part,
and by the way, they still haven't scored thirty points
all year, I mean only like the Raiders and Patriots.

(24:12):
So there's some oddball idiosyncratic statistics here, right.

Speaker 5 (24:16):
They don't necessarily line up. They're not blowing teams out.
That's why they haven't got enough style points. And you've
got people comparing Patrick Mahomes and Daniel Jones. I mean,
really gonna do that? You're really gonna do that.

Speaker 6 (24:30):
All I know is they win, baby, they win, and
whatever it takes, whatever you know, individual play needs to
be made, whatever clutch play needs to be made. They
don't beat themselves, and I think they're gonna be hell
on wheels in the playoff starts. I feel like all
year they've bited their time, they did what they needed
to do, and now you're getting some players back healthy

(24:51):
and they're finding their sea legs and they're gonna be
a brutally tough out.

Speaker 3 (24:56):
So better chance to beat the Chiefs in Kansas City
Buffalo or.

Speaker 4 (25:00):
The Ravens.

Speaker 5 (25:02):
Buffalo.

Speaker 6 (25:04):
Look at Lamar Jackson statistics against the Steve Spagnola defense,
and they're not right.

Speaker 5 (25:11):
They're not good.

Speaker 4 (25:12):
Do you think if so you don't.

Speaker 3 (25:15):
You don't think Lamar is gonna take up to the
Super Bowl, then you're not buying them at all.

Speaker 5 (25:18):
The Baltimore Ravens, No, I'm not. I'm not.

Speaker 6 (25:21):
They're gonna have to go into Kansas City and win,
and there's no guarantee they do that.

Speaker 5 (25:26):
There's zero guarantee they do that.

Speaker 3 (25:29):
Who Well, it's still the Lions though in the NFC.
Are you picking Philadelphia or is it just so wide
open right now?

Speaker 6 (25:36):
Well, what if the Lions lose Week eighteen to Minnesota.
I'm gonna tell you the Lions are gonna have their
hands full of sunny in San Francisco.

Speaker 3 (25:44):
Lions have to get that first round, that number one seed.
Otherwise they got to get healthy. Otherwise Philadelphia gets it.

Speaker 5 (25:50):
The Lions were good enough to win the Super Bowl
last year.

Speaker 4 (25:52):
And I went on a bunch of shows hard Minnesota together.

Speaker 6 (25:54):
Halfway through the season, and people continually asked me last
year how far the Lions going the playoffs? And I said,
tell me, how many home games are in a half
where they had home game it's Tampa Bay and won
their home game against the Rams, and one they went
to San Francisco where they haven't won since nineteen fifty
seven and lost. The Lions are gonna need to have
all three home games or two home games if they

(26:17):
get to buy. There's only one by this year in Detroit,
and then you go to Kansas City with that depleted defense.
Make no mistake, their pass usially isn't getting home like
it was, and they have a prolific offense when they lose.
David Montgomery as well. So I like the Lions DNA.

Speaker 3 (26:37):
If it comes out to the last week they played
in Minnesota.

Speaker 6 (26:40):
In Detroit and the winner of that game right, and
the winner of that game right, they both controlled their
own destiny. Okay, First, Minnesota, they host the Packers Sunday
and Detroit's at San Francisco. If both teams win, that
sets up a huge matchup on Sunday to fifth, the
Lions would host the Vikings for the number one seed.
Detroit already beat Minnesotada earlier in Minnesota thirty one to

(27:03):
twenty nine. Philly had a chance to steal the NFC's
number one seed, but they kind of blew it when
they lost to Washington thirty six thirty three.

Speaker 5 (27:11):
They can steal that was a doll for them.

Speaker 6 (27:13):
They got home wins against Dallas and the Giants, so
it's presumed the Eagles will win both of those. But
it would not surprise me in the least if Detroit
either or Minnesota stumbled this weekend and then it's that
that game on that Sunday, the fifth, it will matter.
So these things, these things matter. I can't really handicap
this if I had a gun to my head. I
know no one wants to hear this, even I don't

(27:33):
really want to hear this. I don't think the Lions
are getting in to the super Bowl, but I could
be Wow, I could be wrong.

Speaker 3 (27:39):
What about some of the lower tier teams like the
Green Bay Packers?

Speaker 4 (27:43):
Oh, actually, did Commanders? What about teams like that?

Speaker 5 (27:46):
Not so much the Commanders, but I think.

Speaker 4 (27:47):
The really I like the Commanders.

Speaker 6 (27:50):
Well, we'll see what they can do with a rookie
quarterback in the post scene, which is an entirely, entirely
different animal. But if you're if you're looking for a
real ark house team, a dark horse team, look no
further than the Green Bay Packers, because they are I
think they are very good. They've won five of their

(28:10):
last six. Arguably the hottest team in the NFL. They
clinched the playoff spot last week when they just took
apart at the Saints thirty four to nothing. They have
the misfortune of playing in the best team in the
best division, not just this year in NFL history. Gonna
have three teams green Bay, Detroit, Minnesota all have eleven
more or more wins. I mean, Minnesota Detroit both got thirteen.

(28:33):
One is gonna get at least fourteen. Green Bay's only
losses this year Packers check that, Lions twice, Vikings and Eagles.
You talk about an elite schedule, and the Packers continue
to put forth impressive performances. Now, they got a tough,
tough draw against Minnesota. This week, they'll beat Chicago, so

(28:54):
they're gonna get in. Okay, you saw what they did
when they went into Dallas last year. That's a program builder.
That is a real dark horse team, the green Bay Packers.

Speaker 3 (29:04):
Right. But by the way, tomorrow Seahawks in Chicago take
it on the Bears. I don't know if that's exactly
must see TV, is it, Berniey? I mean, obviously the
Bears along out of this thing, and the Seahawks fighting
for their playoff Lise, but not exactly. You must watch
TV as it my friend or what well.

Speaker 6 (29:21):
I think if you're in Seattle it is, and if
you're in Chicago it is. You're watching this this dumpster fire.

Speaker 4 (29:26):
Walk around for Seattle for this game.

Speaker 5 (29:28):
By the way, say it again.

Speaker 4 (29:31):
Walker is out for the game for right, right right?

Speaker 5 (29:35):
Okay? Uh yeah, by the way, not for nothing. That game.

Speaker 6 (29:41):
Okay, it's a Thursday night games. You know, you're back
to your streets, back on prime prime video. It's Look,
it's a big game for It's a big game for
the for the Seahawks.

Speaker 3 (29:50):
There's there's some big games on Saturdays, and starting with
the Chargers and the Patriots. Chargers have to clinch that
last playoff spot. They're four point favorite the Patrio. It
looked really good against the Buffalo Bills. I couldn't believe it.
I don't know if we should take anything away from
that game, or maybe it was just a good divisional
rival or wasn't ready for the game. I don't know

(30:14):
what version of the Patriots. I think he's played better
than Caleb Williams.

Speaker 4 (30:20):
Prahps. He's looking really good. This could be a good game.
Charges a four point favorite in this one, Burnie.

Speaker 6 (30:26):
Well, first of all, bet the Seahawks have to win
out right to to get to to have a shot
to heat to the playoffs New England. Last week, yeah,
it was a divisional game that that was a situation
where where Buffalo, I think, was exhausted and you know
you don't lay fourteen points in the NFL.

Speaker 5 (30:45):
And now you know why.

Speaker 6 (30:48):
Broncos, Bengals, Bendals playing for their ever loving lives. The
Rams should take out the Cardinals, which should not put
them in the caffirds seed to in the NFC West.
That's part of the Saturday Triples header, right, yeah, and
and so uh yeah, I think all the games are
meaningful in some form or fashion. You try to find

(31:10):
your you know, your significance and as to what they
may be. Right, the Chargers beat the Patriots and the
Raiders over the final two weeks are gonna be to
the fifth or sixth seeds, so you know, they gotta
they gotta keep winning. Obviously, the Rams are are very
motivated right now. They have a high probability they're in
a great position. But because they beat the Jets, they
are a game ahead the NFC West. The Cardinals, Uh,

(31:32):
they beat them, and I don't know how they don't
win the NFC West. So in some form or fashion,
all these games have significance.

Speaker 3 (31:39):
You know, I want to do what the Broncos are
gonna do with the Bengals. Member big game for the Broncos.
They need one more win to also get that last spot.
Cincinnati barely hanging on.

Speaker 4 (31:48):
They have like a five percent chance. Though I would
not want.

Speaker 3 (31:52):
To play the Bengals the way they look onfensively, defensively,
they're just miserable.

Speaker 2 (31:56):
That's no, this is just hard.

Speaker 5 (31:57):
I'm glad you brought that game up.

Speaker 6 (31:59):
Because Denver does they do in one of its final
two games to make the playoffs, all right.

Speaker 5 (32:04):
So you got to take them one at a time.
They host the Chiefs in week eighteen.

Speaker 4 (32:08):
But you could be played for nothing.

Speaker 5 (32:09):
But that's right, that's right.

Speaker 6 (32:12):
But let's just look now, So Denver has the Cincinnati
Cincinnati has to win their final two games, okay, against
Denver and Pittsburgh.

Speaker 5 (32:22):
Then they need.

Speaker 6 (32:23):
At least one additional loss from the Broncos, who they
play the Dolphins and the Colts.

Speaker 5 (32:30):
Wow, that's a tall order.

Speaker 4 (32:31):
That's a tall order.

Speaker 3 (32:33):
Yeah, that's why I like the Dolphins maybe because they
have to either have the Chargers lose two games or
the Broncos lose two games and the Colts lose one,
which is still the Colts have a very easy schedule.
They play the Giants on the road, and.

Speaker 5 (32:48):
They play the Jackson the Dolphins.

Speaker 3 (32:51):
No, not the Dolphins, the Dolphins, the Colts, the Colts,
the Colts.

Speaker 5 (32:56):
The Colts. Yes, and then they need to win out.

Speaker 6 (33:02):
They need to went out and they need help also,
all right, the Dolphins. They need to win out and
they need and by the way, they're at Cleveland and
at the Jets, both very winnable games. But the cool
weather cities, you know how you know that whole deal
about two in cool weather cities.

Speaker 4 (33:16):
Yeah, so we'll see what.

Speaker 3 (33:19):
I'm all right, we're going to come back. We'll wrap
up some of our picks. We'll get you that before
we get out of here. Bertie Frado, Arnie Span you're

Speaker 3 (33:47):
I want to go ahead and say thanks to our

certainly appreciated Alex ty Shirt are technical director on this
busy holiday time.

Speaker 4 (33:59):
My partner Bernie, thanks the Smith and Harmon for letting
us fill on in.

Speaker 3 (34:03):
By the way, Big Ben Mallor will be on next.
I'm on tomorrow with Martin Weiss, the same shift for Jason,
Mike and then Bernie.

Speaker 4 (34:12):
You're coming on after. So there you go.

Speaker 3 (34:16):
So you you got a lot of shifts to come
on up. Take care of that voice for you, my friend. Yep,
be careful. Let's let's you know, get Tonyson strong there,
Bill saying, I'm listening to the show and the ocean
waves from Saint Simon Island, Georgia. I always wanted the
vacation down there, Bernie. I'm going to the Dominican Republic,
by the way, in May, but I always wanted to

(34:38):
go to Saint Simon Island or Georgia when I lived
in Atlanta.

Speaker 4 (34:43):
So it looks like a rock and place.

Speaker 3 (34:45):
And Chris said I'm looking forward to Bernie and already
more together as I'm listening to you from Charlotte, North Carolina,
Fox Sports Radio on iHeartRadio. That is legally Blind Chris,
So thank you legally Blind Chris. Oh and one more Bernie.

Speaker 4 (35:01):
Hi, guys.

Speaker 3 (35:02):
I'm Isabelle from Anaheim, California, listening to you guys on iHeartRadio,
and I listened on AM five seventy, the sports home
of the world champion LA Dodgers.

Speaker 4 (35:13):
Enjoy listening to both.

Speaker 3 (35:14):
Of you on your show, so we do appreciate that
from Isabelle.

Speaker 4 (35:18):
Bernie, you got a couple best bets for this week?
Get or what my friend?

Speaker 5 (35:21):
Yeah, I do real quickly.

Speaker 6 (35:24):
Denver visited Cincinnati, the a three and a half point
underdog in Sean Payton's history, coming off a road loss
nineteen and four against the number is last twenty four
games and coming off and outright road loss. I like
what bod Knicks has done. I think this is a
very tight game. Denver's live is a dog, probably a
field goal game, but the game I like even better. Yeah,

(35:46):
somehow the New Orleans Saints catching one at home to
the freaking Las Vegas Raiders.

Speaker 4 (35:51):
They look bad in their game.

Speaker 5 (35:53):
They were all the more reason you want them.

Speaker 6 (35:56):
Whenever a team is shut out in the NFL, you
go back fifteen years, they're about sixty four percent against
the number, and I don't think the Raiders should be
laying points against anybody. So even though they were, Look,
the bottom line is I like I like New Orleans,
and I like Denver.

Speaker 3 (36:16):
Let me give you another game, Bernie, What do you
do about the Cowboys Eagles? I don't think Jalen Hurts
is going to play. He isn't practicing member. He had
to leave the game before then against Washington with a concussion.
If he doesn't play, does that line stay at eight
Philadelphia minus eight? Why is there a line up on
that anyway? Are they just assuming Jalen Hurds is going

(36:37):
to play? How could you not love the Cowboys plus
eight points if it's going to be picket or arem
I crazy?

Speaker 4 (36:43):
Audi?

Speaker 6 (36:44):
Well, that game is certainly predicated on the fact that
at this point it sounds to me it's only Wednesday,
he's in concussion protocol. We don't know what's going to happen,
So I think.

Speaker 4 (36:58):
That would you would you want to bet on it? Then?

Speaker 3 (37:01):
If something happened. You could try to middle the game
or or something.

Speaker 5 (37:04):
Well, that could happen. I mean that that can happen.
Books this, I will say this. It looks like.

Speaker 6 (37:09):
Hurts is gonna play. Am I guaranteeing that? No, I'm
not right, But it's a stay away game anyway. There's
no need to you don't you know? You don't need
to bet every game on the board. That's a stay
away game.

Speaker 4 (37:20):
All right? What about the Packers and Vikings? You brought
that up earlier.

Speaker 3 (37:24):
Green Bay's actually a one point favorite in Minnesota.

Speaker 4 (37:27):
Make that make sense to me, Bernie.

Speaker 3 (37:29):
Didn't we just get done praising Minnesota and Sam Donald
and what they've done and how they're not getting any love.
And now we have the Green Bay Packers is a
one point favorite on the road.

Speaker 4 (37:40):
How does that make sense? I like the Vikings in
that one.

Speaker 6 (37:45):
Yeah, all lines are based on power ratings. He just
basically tells you these two teams are dead even right regardless.

Speaker 3 (37:52):
And then well you have to take the home field
that they're really saying the package Batan Bay is.

Speaker 6 (37:56):
Really built to play indoors on turf. Look how they
would took the ball up and down the field. Against Detroit.
They could have easily beaten Detroit in that game. They
lost thirty four to thirty one on that Thursday night game.
This Green Bay team is really good.

Speaker 3 (38:09):
They're really good. I still don't buy in the Jordan Love.
We brought this up earlier. His statistics not even as
good as Aaron Rodgers, and we rip Aaron Rodgers. How
certain are you at Jordan Love? I mean, how good
you think he really is? Or are we just making
an immediate thing about this?

Speaker 4 (38:25):
You know?

Speaker 6 (38:26):
No, I think he's earned the right for that kind
of confidence. And he went into Dallas last year, won
a sensational road game. They were competitive in their second
playoff game. They've come right back this year. They've had
injuries they've dealt with. They got a fabulous running game
with Josh Jacobs. They got seven first rounders on defense
that are coming into their own. They're very physical and

(38:46):
simon sound. And let's face it, you know, do you
play football in three phases? And Matt Lafleoy his team's
playing well in all three phases.

Speaker 5 (38:57):
So it's not just Jordan Love.

Speaker 3 (39:00):
Bertie before I let chatty here, Texas Arizona State right now,
thirteen and a half more likely to go to fourteen
or down the thirteen?

Speaker 4 (39:07):
Which way you think that line's going to go.

Speaker 5 (39:09):
More likely to go to fourteen?

Speaker 3 (39:10):
All right, what about Ohio State, Oregon two and a
half more likely to go to three?

Speaker 4 (39:15):
Or start working thea.

Speaker 5 (39:16):
It will not go to three, it'll stay right where.

Speaker 3 (39:18):
It say, Penn State at eleven, does it go up
or to Boise He's.

Speaker 5 (39:22):
Taking somebody there. That's a dead number.

Speaker 6 (39:24):
You may see some Boise State money come in, but
eleven's a dead number.

Speaker 3 (39:27):
So I got to assume money's gonna come in a
Notre Dame. Was it the Georgia quarterback situation or no?

Speaker 5 (39:33):
Yeah, yeah, I think you'll see that happen.

Speaker 3 (39:35):
All right, Well, Bertie, my friend, it was a pleasure
spending Christmas with you. I will see you tomorrow, obviously
you're on after us. Have a great holidays, and it
was a lot of fun.

Speaker 4 (39:47):
The show just.

Speaker 3 (39:48):
Flew on by, So I pleasure. Always a pleasure, my friend.
Thanks to everybody. Remember now coming up next big Ben
mallor no not two.

Speaker 4 (39:59):
I'm not done yet with the show. I'll let you
know what I'm done with the show.

Speaker 3 (40:02):
Then we go to Penn mallor come up next year
