Speaker 2 (00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
Hello, Welcome in Side hour two, The Jason Smith Show
with my bes friend Mike Harmon, live from the ti
rack dot Com Studios, tirac dot com. I hope you
get there an unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free road
hazard protection, and over ten thousand recommended in stallers tirack
dot com. He is the way tire buying should be. Well,

(00:51):
if you watch that tremendous Duke's Mayo Bowl, you really
saw a thriller. Way you throw the boat.

Speaker 3 (00:57):
Well, you got to say, yeah, listen, we get the
man who's better him or the pop tart.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
Oh, it's tough to go against the pop tart. I
kind of like the pop tart. Okay, yeah, I mean
it's I know it's not the answer you wanted, but
I I think the pop showed up again.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
Sure, dude, just pops up everywhere you click your heels
and bam, there he is.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
Minnesota who looked like LSU T did beating Virginia Tech
in Virginia Tech uniforms who looked like Minnesota. There's a
thing here because you know, listen when when we talk
about the college football Playoff and how one of the
big changes you're gonna see next year into the playoff
is strength of schedule, right, because that's gonna be brought

(01:41):
in for a large reason, and it should be because
the way unbalanced scheduling is going on right now, it's
hard to see if a team like Indiana is for real,
right because you you you you have twenty teams now
in the Big Ten, you got fifty teams in the SEC,
you got a thousand teams in the ACC. Right, How
are you gonna tell how good a team is because

(02:02):
you're gonna miss a lot of the big teams. So
strength of schedule is going to come into into into
play here. But the other thing that's gonna come into
account is how people feel about the Big Ten in
the SEC compared to all the other conferences. Right, because
this loss Tonight, Virginia Tech loses their six and seven
Minnesota wins. The ACC is now two and twelve in

(02:24):
bowl games. Who's one of the only two teams win
a ballgame? Mike Carmen in the ACC?

Speaker 3 (02:29):
Who is that?

Speaker 1 (02:30):
Syracuse and Brown? The ACC is two and twelve in
bowl games. You're gonna really understand that next year the
teams that are gonna get the benefit of the doubt
are the Big Ten, in the and the SEC. If
you were talking about next year now, would SMU really

(02:50):
have gotten the night before we saw the bowl games happen.
Would SMU really have gotten the nod over Alabama? That's
not gonna happen next year, SEC and Big Ten. When
you're talking about non automatic qualifying teams, non conference winners,
they're gonna get the benefit of doubt because you're what
you're seeing is that, Hey, the Big Ten clearly is
the best conference in the country this year, got three

(03:11):
of the final four teams are all Big Ten, and
then the SEC has the other. The SEC is still
an incredibly powerful conference, and whether they've gotten passed by
the Big Ten, it's close, and every year it could
be the SEC, it could be the Big Ten, but
these two conferences operate on a level different than everybody else,
and that's going to be reflected in the teams that
make the playoffs next year. Strength to schedule, what's your conference?

(03:32):
Because nine to three in the SEC is going to
be more impressive than eleven and one in the ACC.
It's just gonna happen. And you see the AEC getting
boat raced in bowl games. Not that that has to
be the one hundred percent decision maker, but boy, you
think a conference that you know, yeah, I get that
everything changes and team and guys opt out and there's changes,
but man, two and twelve is still two and twelve.

(03:52):
You can't cut that up any differently.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
No, it's not good for anybody. And certainly we go
down the list and Big ten is going to rise up.
They got two. I like that you absorbed Notre Dame
into the Big Ten because they're kind of an honorary
Big Ten of course for a long time trying to,

(04:15):
you know, bring them in, but their absence allows Northwestern
to usurp the title Chicago's Big Ten team because look,
nobody's thinking about Champagne or bana Uh in that process.
Although Brent Bilamo has got something cooking as well. But yeah,
we we talked about it for a long time of
the SEC big ten uh, and then they'll just pick

(04:38):
out the best of the remaining conferences.

Speaker 4 (04:40):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
And we get to the two conference super league kind
of format to all of this, and that's kind of
where the playoffs will head, unfortunately for others. Right you
start getting into the the debates like, well, what do
you want you want to go best to brand? Best
of opportunity there from the television side of things and

(05:04):
hate watching being a real thing versus a we we
gave them a shot, we don't like them anymore. Now
we're gonna keep expanding the playoffs, so that'll keep those
other conferences rolling. But yeah, when we talk about second
or third teams coming from other conferences, it's gonna be
a much more difficult proposition after the results of this year.
Even if it is a very narrow sample size, it

(05:27):
does come to that. I'm surprised you led with this
and not the biggest story in sports going on right now.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
I don't want to talk about the Knicks. I don't
want to talk about the next.

Speaker 3 (05:36):
Tiffany Stratton double cross. Naya Jacks cashed in the money
in the bank and is your new women's champion?

Speaker 1 (05:44):
Did you bet it? Tell me? You bet it? Tell me?
You bet that?

Speaker 3 (05:47):
No, no, no, it was inevitable that it was gonna happen eventually.
But going into because on Monday Live from the Intuit
Dome is the first episode of the new iteration of
WWE RAW on Netflix. There you go, there's your big
storyline on a Friday night. All right, there we go,
Tiffany Stratton. I mean, look, I love to row the boat.
I'm a little frightened by guys getting tons of mayonnaise

(06:10):
dumped over the top of their heads at little That
might actually be one of the nightmare scenarios for me.
I don't I don't like mayonnaise very much, so having
that kind of thing, and you got everybody run around
with these creepy elbow deep black gloves handling the mayonnaise.
It's really kind of a creepy scenario.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
Exit out about a Fresca exit swollen dome. The Jason
Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon, Live from
the tirec dot Com Studios. All right, so we got
more college football on the way, We got more NFL
on the way, all the big storylines coming into this weekend.
But how about we do this. We give you our
big fearless playoff prediction. Yeah, come on now, how things
are going to play out this weekend?

Speaker 5 (06:52):
Right?

Speaker 1 (06:52):
We don't have nearly as much drama as we normally do,
which is one of those years where the only playoff
spot really up for grabs and the NFC is between
Tampa Bay and Atlanta. Yes, we have the big Lions
Vikings game that's gonna be about seating, but we're talking
about seatings. So in the in the AFC, that's got
most of the drama because you got three teams that

(07:14):
are in the mix for that final playoff spot. And
I'm gonna tell you what the way things are gonna
go this weekend. We're gonna come out of here and
it's gonna be the Cincinnati Bengals and the playoffs, and
people are gonna go that's the last team I want
to see because Joe Burrow is putting up five touchdowns
a week, right, That's.

Speaker 3 (07:31):
Okay, we're gonna give up five touchdowns.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
They are, they are, But Joe Burrow has been red hot.
He's the top of all MVP conversations, right, now and
their offense is just is just exploding and they're gonna
wind up winning tomorrow because Pittsburgh is limited. They're getting exposed.
Russell Wilson isn't nearly the difference maker he was a
few weeks ago, and I feel like they're kind of

(07:56):
running out of gas a little bit. Uh yeah, you know, Yeah,
you look at Pittsburgh. Oh they lost to good teams. Yeah,
but they lost like you can't. They lost Cincinnati. I
know it's a road game, but you don't just get
hot and get well against an offense that's playing at
this kind of level. So Cincinnati is gonna win tomorrow.
I already told you last night the Jets are gonna
beat Miami Tyler Huntley at quarterback. This is a game

(08:19):
that Jets will get up for. As easy as it
was for them to quit last week against the Bills
and they had no chance, they'll get up for this game.
It could be Aaron Rodgers last game. He doesn't know
what it's gonna be. He's gonna ball out, he's gonna
go crazy, and it'd be a typical Jets thing to
do to win a game where all it does is
hurt their draft position. Because you know Jets, and it's
gonna come down to Denver losing to Kansas City, who

(08:42):
is still going to beat them even with Carson Wentz.

Speaker 3 (08:45):
Ten and a half point favorites at home for the total.

Speaker 1 (08:48):
It is, it is that Kansas City is still going
to beat them with Carson Wentz. Denver is slowly coming
back to earth. The last couple of weeks have been
really bad. So give me Kansas City, even without Patrick Hohomes,
They're still a better football team. They win this game,
Miami loses, and here come the Cincinnati Bengals into the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (09:06):
How about that? Look at you? Miami a one point
favorite at New York thirty eight and a half. The
total there bangles two and a half point favorites. A
lot of infighting in Pittsburgh right now, Mike Tomlin calling
everybody out. Russell Wilson when George Pickens and think you
saw this clip, was apprised of, you know, hey, a
disconnect or whatever? Who said that? You said that? No,

(09:28):
he did, and he refused to speak anymore and just
put on his thermal undergear over his mouth. Yeah it's
not good. Najie Harris has banged up a little bit
and we look at CJ. Watt. We've only said his
name in the introductions the last couple of weeks. So
all of that to say, bad times for.

Speaker 1 (09:47):
DJ jjj JJ. That's a commercial I'm sick of. I
got to be off here. I'm sick of that commercial.
I feel like that commercial is three minutes long and
it's only thirty seconds. I'm like, how many times can
I hear them say TJJ? You know what helps you
with that?

Speaker 3 (10:01):
You watch games on mute and syncing up with some
metallic or something Tarlie. Great, you never have to hear
any of those back and forths. Again.

Speaker 1 (10:09):
I can't. I can't do it, man, I can't see
that now it is JJJ TJ.

Speaker 3 (10:13):
It's too bad though, that you've got the undercard, which
is the Cleveland Baltimore game.

Speaker 1 (10:18):
He goes first, like, what the hell is that even
a game? No, but it's a nineteen point spread. Now,
I mean, come on, but at least let's have the
division still be up for grabs. When Cincinnati and Pittsburgh
kick off, the Browns have decided, Hey, we're gonna we're
gonna start Dorian Thompson. Robb why he's not an NFL

(10:38):
quarterback doesn't matter. We're gonna do it. Okay, great, I
mean that's not even a game. It's it's like a
controlled scrimmage. It's like getting excited in April, going, oh, hey,
Alabama's a spring game is today. I'm gonna see the
blue and white game. We cant to see the Mazon
blue game. We have to see the orange and blue game. Well,
it's exciting. Turn on the ACC network and watch it. No,
that's what's about he look like.

Speaker 3 (10:58):
But first you get Bailey's apt Yes, forty, yes, I
mean you know what will be seen. But we get
number forty since nine.

Speaker 1 (11:07):
You're right, and and people are gonna choot in and go,
oh he's still in the league, zap.

Speaker 3 (11:13):
He was your guy.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
You mean he's still not with New England. He's still
no no, no, no, no. But he's in the league.

Speaker 3 (11:18):
Though he's in the league, I don't think anybody's stunk
for Bailey zi.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
Yeah, but look, but they've been tanking for the last
couple weeks. Jameis Winston, Yes, as much as he turned
the football over, he was someone who, of course was
keeping you in games away. He threw it turned Jerry
Judy into a really good wide receiver. But then no,
we're gonna suddenly just go to dtr Well. Obviously you
saw he's on an NFL guy and now here you
are at the end, we're playing it out. We're looking
for that high draft pick. And that's all that's going

(11:44):
on this game. This game shouldn't be close. I'll be more.
I'll be just as embarrassed forget about losing the game.
If this Ravens don't cover, I'll be just as embarrassed
as if they lost the game. Like, come on, I
know it's nineteen, but you gotta cover this.

Speaker 3 (11:57):
Well, they lost the first matchup to these guys. I'm
gonna lose here. With the Division on the line and
Justice Hill is out, Derek Henry will leave early. So
you know you want your Fantasy daily Fantasy pickup for
Week eighteen, h Rashina Lee, let's go. So yeah, I'm
adding value from the fantasy landscape. And what is a

(12:18):
future Week eighteen card? I hate that Division games are
Week eighteen though, And obviously we get the Sunday night game,
so all is right with the world and we get
Tampa and like that's great, we got two. Everything else
is like, okay, plan proceeding a little bit otherwise it doesn't.
I thought Division games were supposed to matter above all,
and yet we have so many that don't matter. It's terrible.

Speaker 1 (12:42):
Yeah. Well look, but you like to say I celebrate
all two seventy ten. I do celebrate all.

Speaker 3 (12:46):
I don't say that I celebrate them all, But I
don't celebrate how they order him. I could still hate
them for the way they put them in in order
from one to June seventy two.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
I don't like the order. It's like opening the worst
Chris present last?

Speaker 4 (13:00):
Do you want?

Speaker 1 (13:01):
You want to open the best one last? I thought
this was a video game. Instead it's a book. Oh man,
this is terrible.

Speaker 3 (13:08):
And sago On Barkley should be playing. Don't for the records.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
Let's see. Oh I think this is I think this
is that new game I wanted. Wait, portrait of the
artist as a young man. Oh, come on, I don't
want this the picture of Dorian Gray. Come on?

Speaker 3 (13:24):
Do people still have to read that or they somehow
gotten that out of classrooms too?

Speaker 1 (13:29):
Uh No. The last time I saw that mention was
in was it five hundred days of Summer?

Speaker 4 (13:33):
Right?

Speaker 1 (13:33):
That's how Zilley Deschanel met that dude because he was
reading reading the Portrait of Dorian Gray, like in the park,
like this is out and show you how cool I
am so I can meet people. Yeah, I'm reading it
really people, I would laugh at you.

Speaker 3 (13:48):
And keep walking in two five.

Speaker 1 (13:51):
You know that was you know that was because that
was a really good movie, and you know there's so
much I like, you hate her characters as a as
a time goes on and you feel like she's just
finding a way to not be with Joseph Gordon Levitt.
And then it turns out the end she says, I
was trying to find a way to be with you
when I was questioning myself. You're like, oh, wow, you
see the movie so differently. But then yeah, oh I'm

(14:13):
going you know, I meet this guy who's reading the
picture of Dorian Gray and we have a well, what
a cliche type thing that is. I'm like, really, that's
that's who you wind up going after. We were supposed
to really like you as as a depth character and
suddenly yeah, I'm reading the picture Dorian Gray. He's cool. Yeah,
I or a denim jacket and I have a fou
manchew mustache and I'm cool looking. Yeah, that's me. I

(14:34):
read books in the park and hope, hope a girl
will come up and talk to me and go ooh,
you look interesting because you're reading a classic. Yeah, you know.

Speaker 3 (14:40):
I went and saw a movie today that was pretty good.
It was very odd because you had the animation of
many different styles kind of going overlaying and running into
each other. But it made for a cool visual effect
that kept you just fascinated as to what they were
gonna do next. And it was the new Lord of
the Rings that came out.

Speaker 1 (14:57):
There's another Lord of the Rings.

Speaker 3 (14:58):
It's an animated movie.

Speaker 1 (15:00):
Is it like the Fels like in the seventies. No,
I'm not. I gonna see that in the seventies.

Speaker 3 (15:04):
Come not even get an animated Christopher Lee at the
end of Oh really is he singing Chris and his voice? No? No,
we did not get Metal Christmas.

Speaker 1 (15:11):
Oh it was pretty good. Uh. So there you go,
your AFC Final AFC Playoff team. When it's all said
and done, your Cincinnati Bengals. They will send fruit baskets
to the Jets and the Chiefs and Carson Wentz for
helping them out alone.

Speaker 3 (15:26):
See I think Snoop may may upset your apple.

Speaker 1 (15:29):
He's terrible. It doesn't matter, No, And they can't run
the football. I thought if they could run the football
they beat Jets. But they can't.

Speaker 3 (15:34):
It's only been good as a checkdown receiver them.

Speaker 4 (15:36):
You can't.

Speaker 1 (15:37):
And Tyler Huntley stinks like.

Speaker 3 (15:38):
I like that the Chiefs beat Denver?

Speaker 1 (15:41):
Yeah, no, telling you, man, it doesn't matter. Watch car
watch Carson Wentz have a bigger game throw in the
football than Mahomes has had all year.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
He'll go for like four.

Speaker 1 (15:49):
Point fifty and fourteen.

Speaker 3 (15:50):
I told you yesterday Mahomes is still at thirty eight
hundred yards.

Speaker 1 (15:54):
The year everybody's hated on still aggregated pretty good. Sea
Just watch man, Wow, look at Wentz boy. Four point
fifty and we're only in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 3 (16:06):
Carson Wentz, you're starting quarterback for who twenty twenty five?
Let's go.

Speaker 1 (16:11):
So who's coming away with a big win? The number
one seed in the NFC between the Lions and the Vikings?

the NFC? All that more? Coming up next, we visit

Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (17:43):
You know, The Jason Smith Show with my best friend
Mike Harmon live attirect dot com studios. We got a
big NFL Sunday coming up. Final playoff spot up for
grabs in the AFC, as is the final spot in
the NFC? Are the Lions taking the number one seed?
Is the Vikings? Is Aaron Rodgers really playing his final

(18:04):
game of the year and final game of his career
on Sunday? Joining us now on the hotline is a
longtime NFL insider. He is helping the Jets search for
their GM on the thirty third team. He is a
Pro Football Hall of Very Good voter. He is on
Twitter at Jason Cole sixty two. It is Jason Cole

(18:25):
Ja Cole.

Speaker 4 (18:25):
Happy New Year, Man, Happy New Year to you fellows.
Game the Gang in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Speaker 1 (18:33):
It's all good, Wow, all good. Right, so you're telling
me that that everything's going to be good and Aaron
Rodgers is going to come back next year and the
Jets are gonna be great. Thanks a lot. I appreciate that.

Speaker 4 (18:44):
Kurt Rodgers might come back. He ain't come back to
the Jets.

Speaker 1 (18:49):
I don't know. Don't don't stick a fork on that
just yet. He knows it's the Jets.

Speaker 5 (18:53):
Nobody, can I.

Speaker 4 (18:56):
Say, can he be more derisive and reference to the
owner with the way that he says, asked Woody? Because
you know what he's doing that is that wood he
wants to be referred to as mister ambassador. And he
keeps doing the ask Woody, Ask Woody and just refers
to him as Woody. Is just like like he's taking

(19:16):
a fork and putting in his ribs every time. Because
all those stories that were in that report about his kids.

Speaker 1 (19:26):
Ask Brick, okay, ask Brick, my sweet.

Speaker 4 (19:30):
Brick, did you know did you notice one of the
bylines that was on that story? If you did, that
points a lot towards Aaron did not do anything, put
up any fight against that story. Let's just put it
that way. Well, he did not.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
But here's the thing. Did you also notice that Aaron
Rodgers had a pretty good two year run with back
to back MVPs when he would hate it on everybody
involved in Green Bay, when you thought that was enough
to get rid of him.

Speaker 4 (20:00):
Yeah, but this is where you say when you're taking
on an owner. See, in Green Bay there was no
owner and there was nobody to really that she could
really get into their skin on a daily basis. You
know there's Mark Murphy who put up with his nonsense
and famously said he's a different kind of guy. There's
the GM's the different you know, two different gms basically

(20:22):
between between Ted Thompson Rest in Peace and you know
Brian good Comes, and then you know the coaches who
between McCarthy and Lafleur. He you know, he act like
Margaret Thatcher smelling bad cheese every time he talked about
those guys for for a couple of years. So, yeah,

(20:45):
he ripped a lot of people. But it's different when
you're ripping the owner.

Speaker 1 (20:50):
Yeah, Johnson's not paying attention. He's playing Madden right now.
Brick has no idea what's being said about him.

Speaker 4 (20:57):
What he's paying attention now. Sheriff Woody ain't playing like that.
He didn't like that, Sheriff Woody gets ripped up and down.
I mean, you know, he has come a long way
from the propeller hat to being you know, an ambassador,
and he's not happy about said that he was not

(21:19):
named an ambassador again. So these are not good times
for Woody Johnson because he's being mocked relentlessly. And yeah,
we'll see if Rabel takes that job, you know, if
he even gets offered it. But it tells you a
lot when Rivera's you know, being announced early as one
of the candidates, and I know that Rivera satisfies the

(21:41):
minority candidate option in this whole thing, so they want
to get that news out there as much as they
possibly can. But like that's this is not like a
really great starting point for an announcement for the Jets.
And to me, Rabel's using this early on to stir
up interest from other teams that might have openings, particularly

(22:03):
you know, Vegas. Depending on how much power you know,
Brady really has and how much sway he has with
Mark Davis.

Speaker 3 (22:11):
Well that's the go ahead, Jason.

Speaker 1 (22:13):
It's like, look, the Jets are gonna wind up being
last chance hotel. They're going to get a coach in
a GM. It's the only job they're going to get
is the coach or GM of the Jets. Anybody with
an option is not going to be with the Jets.

Speaker 4 (22:28):
It is only a place for the daring and the desperate.
That is true. I think it was. I think yeah,
I think Trace Armstrong came up with that line one time.
He was referring when he was playing. He was referring
to some place and he goes, yeah, this is the place.
It's only for the daring and the desperate. So it's
pretty it was a pretty funny line.

Speaker 3 (22:49):
Is that how people refer to dealing with him as
an agent? Now when you have to go to his.

Speaker 1 (22:53):
Club, it's that you're desperate.

Speaker 4 (22:56):
No, Trace is a sharp agent. He's got he's got
a good plong lists of people, and he's pretty powerful
in that coach game, I'll say that.

Speaker 3 (23:06):
So as we get into the the final weekend of
the season, we got a lot of preliminaries, but it
all settles up on Sunday Night. Seriously, as a Chicago guy,
I hope both teams lose. But what do you think
does Ben Johnson have enough to cook Brian flores for
previous snows.

Speaker 4 (23:26):
It's really interesting because because Florence can do a lot
of things and that will confuse GoF right and make
him hesitate. The question is is Golf learn enough from
the you know, the previous three times he's played against them,
that that's not going to matter anymore. So I'm really

(23:47):
fascinated by this matchup because there are only so many
tricks you can pull as a defensive coordinator to keep
tooling players again and again and again, and and Detroit's
just even with the injuries they've had, you know, on offense,
they're so loaded. So I think Detroit's got enough to

(24:07):
get through this one. But obviously the strength for Minnesota
is a defense, and what Flora's has been able to do.
You know, Darnold's had terrific here and there's the starter
again there next year. But they're they're really riding it
on the fact that Flora comes up with innovative game

(24:28):
plans week in and week out to make them trd
for opposing teams. And I just it's a division opponent,
so it's not it's just this one's it's just a
this one's a tough call. But I would favor Detroit
in this one. All right.

Speaker 1 (24:43):
So staying in the NFC, who's getting that final playoff spot?
Is is m v P Baker Mayfield getting it? Or
are we going to see somehow the Falcons with it? No?

Speaker 4 (24:53):
I think m v P m VP Baker, m v
P Baker. Where did that come from? Like? What planet
are we on?

Speaker 1 (25:00):
He's one of the top three four quarterbacks in the
NFL this year, that's how good he is.

Speaker 4 (25:05):
Yeah, he's a lot. He's a long way from the top.
From number one and number two.

Speaker 1 (25:11):
We're just you're just to hate. You're hating non bait.
You just hate Baker Bayfield.

Speaker 4 (25:17):
Well, I mean we're not friends or anything like that.
He's he's had a tragic hear and I like that. Like,
they flipped that team around really fast. Now, Grant, you know,
they're still, you know, depending a lot on aging Mike Evans,
who's still remains incredibly productive, and you know they're not

(25:39):
getting a lot out of the you know, the mcmellans,
and you know Kate as Aten's actually played pretty well,
but they're not getting a lot from the number two
and n There's three options on the offense and the receivers,
but you know, Bucky Irving and the offensive line and
really young Baker's finally maturing a little bit. He's still

(26:00):
got a little too much Farman him, but that's probably
never going to change. He's always going to be like that.
So I like Campat a hold on to that spot.
I like him actually get the number three spot, even
though I think if if the Rams, the Rams really
should want to get the three spot, they really should,
because I don't know that I want the loser of

(26:23):
Detroit or Minnesota. I really, even, you know, even at home,
I don't want that. I don't want I don't want
either one of those teams. I'd much rather get Washington,
who I know I can score on if it's probably
you know, because it's probably gonna be Washington at six.
I know there's still some opportunity there for that's changed.
But you know, whether whether it's Washington or whether it's

(26:47):
Green Bay, I'd rather have one of those two than
the loser of what happens between the Vikings and Alliance.

Speaker 3 (26:52):
We get to see some Jimmy Garoppolo under center this weekend.
J Cole, how sweet is that?

Speaker 4 (26:59):
Well? I still love all the stories about Jimmy g
forgetting the play call between the between the huddle and
the line of scrimmage.

Speaker 3 (27:08):
A lot going on, a lot of noise. Hey, who's
uh finishing the back end of the AFC side of things?

Speaker 4 (27:16):
Are we getting well? I mean we're getting done. I mean,
I mean, Chemisy is basically going to bubble wrap everybody
except for their like punter.

Speaker 3 (27:25):
Right, but Carson Wentz can earn another job.

Speaker 1 (27:28):
He's going to go for four fifty and five touchdowns, Jacob.

Speaker 4 (27:31):
Just watch how many games does he get to do that?

Speaker 1 (27:35):
Three games? Three games, five touchdowns.

Speaker 4 (27:42):
He's earned another year of being a backup in Kansas City.
That's certainly true.

Speaker 3 (27:48):
Do you take the ten and a half?

Speaker 4 (27:49):
No, I tell you that. Well, my favorite is the
twenty point line.

Speaker 3 (27:54):
That's a good one.

Speaker 4 (27:54):
Right Saturday, we're between Cleveland and Baltimore. Twenty point it's Bailey's.
It's the fourth biggest line in NFL history. That's amazing.

Speaker 5 (28:12):
This is it's like the biggest.

Speaker 4 (28:14):
Lines as well. I mean, there was one that was
the twenty eight point line between Denver and Jacksonville back
in twenty thirteen.

Speaker 1 (28:21):
But before that, it was Super Bowl three. It was
the Jets and the Colts.

Speaker 4 (28:26):
No, No, the biggest line before that was actually it
was eighty seven between the forty nine Ers and since
he maybe or somewhere Cleveland, I can't remember who it was.
And then there was another one that was Pittsburgh, the
Steelers in their heyday in the seventies against the expansion
Buccaneers was like a twenty twenty four point line and

(28:48):
they covered, of course, But like, this is just twenty points.
I mean, like, man, that's just such a siege number.
That just stuns me, I you know, And I realized
that the Jacksonville Denver game was not that long ago,
but it still stuns me that there's a twenty point

(29:09):
line in an NFL game.

Speaker 3 (29:11):
It's the glory of Week eighteen. Come on, it's fantastic.

Speaker 4 (29:16):
Wait wait for we get that Week nineteen twenty. In
the coming years, we're going.

Speaker 3 (29:23):
To start to see league. In Week sixteen, we got.

Speaker 1 (29:25):
Hey, Jake Coling, Hey j Cole. Week twenty seven, you
got that big matchup with the Cowboys and the Steelers.
It's said two and a half months, who do you
think is going to win that one?

Speaker 4 (29:35):
I was joking with this one offense is why then
the other day we were talking about it. It's like,
you guys are just gonna you guys are going to
totally give them the eighteenth game. The only thing you're
gonna get is, oh, we don't have to show up
in June. Oh my god, isn't that great.

Speaker 3 (29:52):
July first?

Speaker 4 (29:53):
Yeah, yeah, I was. I told that another player today.
I was talking to him with that. I said, you
guys don't realize, like if you' gave them five points,
they wouldn't. They don only even see you between like
January and July. They don't care. You can have the
entire off season off if you give them five points.
That's how much the owners care. They'll just look at
the coaches and say, you guys, fix it. We don't care.

(30:15):
Like the owners just do not care about off season
conditioning and teaching. They like it's just not even an issue.
So you know, like the players give that, you know, like, oh,
we look at what we want more time off.

Speaker 2 (30:28):
They don't care.

Speaker 5 (30:30):
They just don't care.

Speaker 3 (30:32):
But you can also do it in week eighteen, even
because the games a lot of them don't matter. I mean,
it looks like he couldn't go for a record and
he's sitting on his ass right.

Speaker 4 (30:41):
And my other my other favorite was, I said, that
is the first offensive lineman. I said, one of the
biggest problems you guys have is you got like all
these punters and kickers as player reps. Do you think
punters and kickers care about whether they have eighteen games
or not? Oh, let's have any games, Brady games.

Speaker 2 (31:01):
I don't care.

Speaker 4 (31:02):
I never get hit like you guys, get a little
smarter about who represents you.

Speaker 1 (31:13):
Look forget about owning February. We're gonna We're gonna have
a thirty three week season. We're gonna go through March.
We're gonna play the super Bowl on the night of
the NCAA Championship game in April.

Speaker 4 (31:24):
Yes exactly. I'm justin Tucker. I want to score two
hundred and fifty points in the season and then.

Speaker 1 (31:30):
And the next day is the Draft. We're gonna go
right from that to it.

Speaker 5 (31:36):
Those guys are gonna play immediately because everybody else will
be dead. It's gonna be a continuous season, and the
kickers like kickball, get checked like, I mean, that's all
I care about. Yeah, I mean, it's so idiotic, but yeah,
we're gonna be playing eighteen games, and the NFL will

(31:58):
of course like, go oh here, we'll make it up
to you. We'll give you two by weeks in the season.

Speaker 4 (32:03):
You know, there'll be something like that. So we'll have
twenty weeks and we'll be having fantasy championship games, you know,
on you know, on New Year's Day and stuff like that.
It's just it's going to be insane. And then, you know,
President's Day weekend. Super Bowl is going to be on
the President's Day weekend probably within two to three years,
and it's just going to be the greatest you know,

(32:25):
it's going to be the greatest weekend of football excess
of all time because nobody has to show up for
work on Monday, so they can just get completely plastered,
even more than they already do at their Super Bowl parties.

Speaker 1 (32:38):
He is a man already planning for the super Bowl
of President's Weekend. It is Jason Cole. Check out on
Twitter at Jason Cole sixty two thirty thirteen j Cole
as always, buddy, appreciate it, man, enjoy the games. We'll
talk to you chet.

Speaker 5 (32:51):
Let's go check.

Speaker 4 (32:55):
Not to find out.

Speaker 1 (32:56):
What's trending in the wide world of sports. From a
guy we've how you hear maybe a little bit more
than Aaron Rodgers values Brick Johnson. It is Steve Desager.
He's got what's trending.

Speaker 6 (33:06):
Well, if you're gonna put it that way, my goodness.
Dolphins quarterback to a tongue of Iloa, thank you. It's
unlikely to play Sunday at the Jets due to his
hip injury. Quarterback Tyler Huntley is due to start for Miami.
Denver can clinch the final playoff berth in the AFC
this weekend. The Broncos one game ahead of both Miami
and Cincinnati with one game left, Jets defensive back Sauce

(33:29):
Gardner out with a hamstring injury, and tight end Tyler
Conklin as a game time decision with a calf injury.
Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson, with a bad back, is out
Sunday against the Jaguars. The Titans will start quarterback Will Levis,
but quarterback Mason Rudolph will also play against the Texans.
Tennessee running back Tony Poller questionable with an ankle injury.

(33:51):
Eagles QB Jalen Hurts is out Sunday against the Giants
with his concussion. Running Back Saquon Barkley is officially doubtful
to play as his wide receiver A J.

Speaker 4 (34:00):
Brown.

Speaker 6 (34:00):
Forty nine Ers quarterback brock Perty is out Sunday at
Arizona elbow injury, and wide receiver Deebo Samuel is out
rib and wrist injuries. In College Football Bowl victories for
Minnesota and Texas State. In the NBA, the Spurs won
at Denver one thirteen to one, ten victor Wembin Yama
thirty five points, eighteen rebounds, eight turnovers, as well thirty

(34:22):
five points in thirty three minutes for him. Cleveland won
its ninth straight game one thirty four, one twenty two
at Dallas. Evan Mobley thirty four minutes, thirty four points,
I should say in thirty minutes. At New Orleans, C. J.
McCollum fifty points in a win over Washington one thirty
two to one. Twenty victories for Detroit and Boston. For
Orlando and Oklahoma City, which won its fourteenth straight came

(34:46):
back beat the next one seventeen one oh seven. The
Knicks had won nine games in a row. There are
two late contests, the Lakers at the half leading at
home against the Hawk sixty five fifty seven, and at
Sacramento it's the King over Memphis ninety four eighty nine
with about five minutes left. College hoops Number eighteen Michigan

(35:06):
State was a winner at Ohio State sixty nine sixty two,
and number eight Marquette has beaten Creighton's seventy nine seventy one.

Speaker 1 (35:14):
Back to you, Thank you, Steve O. The Jason Smith
Show with My best friend Mike Carmon live from the
Tirack dot Com Studios. Coming up next, fair is fair.
We told you last night. Jalen Milroe has been the
biggest loser of the Bowl season so far, his stock dropping.
He's headed to the NFL, probably because he thought he
could lose his job at Alabama. Who's been the biggest

(35:34):
winner so far of the Bowl season. That's coming up next,
right here, Jason to Mike Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (35:40):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith

Tireraq dot com is the way tire buying should be. Well,
it's only fair if we talked about who the biggest

(36:12):
loser of bowl season was so far yesterday. Who's the
biggest winner so far of bowl season? Scataboo, Scataboo, scataboo, skattaboo. See,
the thing is, Skataboo wins in popularity. But I don't
know that it's going to translate into the draft. He's
still gonna be taken low because he's still someone we
talked about it. He's not big, and he's not fast.
He's a great college football player, like Tim Tebow was

(36:34):
a great college football player, right, Skataboo is a great
college player. I don't know how much his skill set translates.
I don't think's suddenly going to get drafted as though, hey,
he's our answer. No, he'll go really late in the draft,
and maybe he carves his way into the NFL as
a full back special teams fan favorite type where people
buy his jersey. Right. So, but he's he's been really successful,

(36:56):
but how's it going to go to the next level?

Speaker 3 (36:57):
Full uh, video and explanation and everything of the discussion
that we had is up. Wherever you get your podcast
going download and give it five stars. We'll love you forever.
There's some video accompaniment as well of our pretty faces.

Speaker 1 (37:10):
So last night we talked about Jalen Milroe, who went
to the NFL maybe because he thought I could lose
the job. Alabama clearly frustrated with him. He played a
horrible game against Michigan. He has not gotten to the
next level as a quarterback. Maybe he would have lost
his job. He didn't want a transfer, which I don't
know why he would have gotten six million dollars to
transfer anywhere else he wanted to go. And as it is,

(37:33):
he's a questionable Day two guy right now. Maybe he
falls even further. But the big winner, so far as
you wanted about someone who is who has solidified their stocks,
which maybe they jump into the first round is Quinn yours?
All right? It was it was looking really bad for him,
right you get to the end of the game, Texas

(37:53):
gonna lose to Arizona State. Wow, Quinn. Viewers looked like
maybe him in the Texas offense has started to sputter
and run out of gas a bit, and he leads
those that late fourth quarter drive resulted in the missfield goal,
the two big touchdown throws in overtime, one on fourth down.
His second half of the season wasn't great, and all

(38:14):
of his NFL stock was in what we saw last year.
In the first half of this year's a lot of
Justin Herbert kind of reminds me a little bit of
him being able to throw the football that way, but
he needed something. He needed clutch wins. He needed big throws,
and boy he'd he get them in front of everybody
in overtime against Arizona State. Now his NFL draft stock
is back up high. He's definitively in the second round,

(38:35):
and I can see he plays it and has another
big game, plays well. As we get to the next year.
Next to last game plays well against Ohio State. I
can see him sneaking up into the first round and
being someone that's taken late in the first round, whether
it's a team that needs a quarterback there or someone
jumps up a little bit from early second to first
to make sure they get him. And he's the third
quarterback off the board. He has helped his draft stock

(38:57):
more than anybody, No, And.

Speaker 3 (38:58):
I think that's what we've been talking about. The quarterback
position will just be curious to watch, even Jalen Milroe,
because there are folks that still love him quite a bit.
That the back end of that first round, early second
will be very very interesting to see how many teams
dive back in, right, how many trade back in to
grab a guy of a future, because you know, we

(39:21):
always talk about it. If you don't have a quarterback,
you're screwed. And we see the haves and have nots,
and just how it spread out. This NFL campaign is, right,
a number of top heavy teams and then a bunch
of also rans to where one win changes your stocks
six or seven draft picks, not even a hey, all right,
you actually want to gain him In week seventeen you

(39:43):
move from one to three. No, no, no, you're dropping to
like seven like the Jets. The other is, you know,
with all the nil and everything else. I think I
just talked about it as a general content. Remember when
we had the lawsuits back in the day. You had
Orlando Hayes and Clarette and Mike Williams and all these
guys about, hey, I want to come out early. Maybe

(40:05):
Jeremiah Smith dominating as a freshman, we reignite some of
those in this pay for era of nil and the
funny money that's going around seventy twelve hundred and fourteen
in the regular season. You know, as we're looking at
his playoff numbers have just been absurd that maybe we

(40:25):
start those debates and considerations again.

Speaker 1 (40:28):
Well, at least had to be better than saying, you know,
so and so is only seventeen years old. He's just
seventeen years old. This kid is only seventeen seventeen.

Speaker 3 (40:37):
Well, I mean we get that on both ends of
the spectrum, because remember, for Tom Brady, every conversation had
to be forty five year old Tom Brady. Now it's
forty year old Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 1 (40:48):
So there you go, Quinn yours, this guy. Don't be surprised.
One more big game. He's into the first round. That's
how much he's improved his drafts. Kataboo coming up next.
We got two big stories out of the NBA. One
that's going to be a bit of a shocker. That's next.
