Speaker 3 (00:29):
Hello, Welcome in side our three, The Jason Smith Show
with my best friend Mike Harmon, live from the Tirack
dot Com studios diirec dot com.
Speaker 1 (00:37):
I hope you get there. An unmatched selection, fast, free shipping,
free roadhazard protection over ten thousand recommended installers. Tirac dot
com is the way tire buying should be. We got
more NBA coming up in about twenty minutes. Way do
we tell you about the NFL bet going on between
two NBA superstars this weekend. I really can't wait for
(01:00):
I wanted them to have to pay it off, but
bet bet bet bet bet Twotonian. Two big games happening
right now in the NBA, Lakers trying to hold on
against the heat. They lead at one oh three to
one oh one with five minutes to go in the
fourth quarter. Meanwhile, just under two minutes left to go,
and it's the Warriors with a one eight one oh
three lead over Minnesota. Again, about two minutes left to
(01:20):
go on this one, and just really quick because they
were such a great story last year, and I thought,
for sure, this is a team that's going to with
their youth and their defense and Anthony Edwards being the
next Michael Jordan. Boy, they're gonna really, along with the
Oklahoma City Thunder, really help own the Western Conference the
next few years. And here's Minnesota sorta ambling along at
(01:42):
twenty one and eighteen. Yes, they made the big trade
in the off season. They they moved out Karl Anthony Towns,
who's been nothing short of an MVP candidate with the Knicks.
They bring in Julius Randall, Dante DiVincenzo. Things have not
quite gone as expected from Minnesota, and we're past the
point of well, it's it's early season. They have to
find a way to get going after coming off the
(02:03):
big long playoff run they had last year. They hit
the wall in the playoff round, the second in the
in the Conference semis, and then all of a sudden,
they have not gotten it back, and the trade for
Randalin de Vincenzo Wall, Yes, it does make you deeper.
You bring up a big guy and Devincenzel and come
off the bench and really light it up. Uh. Yeah,
(02:24):
I got big time concerns for the next great team
in the Western Conference because this is midway through the
season and they're barely holding it together. They're barely a
five hundred team. And this is a Western Conference that, hey,
you're not just gonna suddenly go on a big run
like this is a This is a this is a
young achieving Western Conference where we're at the top of
the league. These teams are thirty five and six, you know,
(02:46):
you know, thirty three and ten, and you're sitting around
You're really gonna get hot in the playoffs and figure
it out again. You sort of wonder if, hey, what
kind of mojo? What kind what did the tea wolves
lose from last year this year? And yeah, maybe Karl
Anthony Towns is it. Obviously he's a big portion of that,
But is it something more than It's something more than just, hey,
we've traded a guy that we we talked about trading
(03:08):
for the last few years, because suddenly they have just
fallen off and you scratch head and go, what happened?
Speaker 3 (03:14):
This is?
Speaker 1 (03:14):
This team is a talented you could possibly want to
have just two per game.
Speaker 3 (03:19):
Uh, your percentage points behind the Lakers for the sixth spot.
Lakers trying to hold on to it to this game
here tonight. But you've got decent balance. But Karl Anthony Towns,
whatever we may think about effort defensively, Uh, he's a
better and more consistent offensive player than Julius Randall.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
He's also hurt right now. He'll be back. He didn't
play tonight because I know he's coming back, Okay Stock
and they hurt his feelings because he wore an Eagles shirt.
Big Boat, he may never recover. Big Bodega has bone
chips in his thumb. He's gonna play through it. There's
no surgery. He sat out tonight because the swelling was
still from last game. He's gonna probably play in the
next game. And we won tonight, So it doesn't matter.
(04:04):
I think you played the Sixers, does it We still won,
It doesn't matter. Doesn't matter. Yes, the Sixers did tank
at the end of the game. They didn't do that
they did do that it one by five click, Okay.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
They stink Tyrese MAXI get it, get him out, Second Apron,
third Aprin, whatever new uh can foul the Aprons, the.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
Let's go, I'm wearing them all. Make him top chef.
So we'll have more NBA coming up in a few minutes.
We'll have a word about that bet between two NBA
superstars and and why one NBA superstars should probably get traded.
That's not named Jimmy Butler. But look, one of the biggest.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
Stories of the last couple of days, and you know,
coming off this past weekend, the upset win by the
Washington Commanders as they move on in the playoffs. Uh
Zane Gonzalez became top of the rotation storyline because of
his pre kick routine with his hair and then the
doink that went through.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
Unlike if he was kicking for the Bears, it would
have just I'm gonna kick you. It would have bounced
back off, sure step good hold down, kick on its way.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
It is good. The Cardiac Commanders.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
Are the clutch Commanders. Day do it again. We'll see
you and try to Gonzales ticks at the door to the.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
Second ball.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
Okay, okay, when one guy is talking really high, the
other guy's gotta be lower, even higher. I'm just picturing
them just like Rob Schneider and at the end of
necessary roughness where they're pouring champagne over their heads.
Speaker 3 (05:39):
We won.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
We won.
Speaker 4 (05:41):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
But Robert Loja Gonzalez makes the kick and it dooints in.
And he got so much attention for his pre kick routine,
which involved him moving his hair to the side numerous
times before putting his helmet on. And I saw it
get made fun of on social media. I'm like, yeah,
I get it. But when when I watched that, my
wife and I were watching, I go that that's an
OCD thing, and I checked and I, you know, right after,
(06:03):
I said, yep, he had talked about it before in
the past, that he that he suffered, you know, and
deals with OCD. Because this wasn't I'm you know, I'm
rooming my hair around putting my helmet on. This was
I'm moving my hair, try to put my helmet on.
I take the helmet off and his hair doesn't move,
So you could tell that it was something that, you know,
he's someone who deals with OCD, and he did interview
(06:24):
via The Washington Post today talking about it, and he said, look,
all the talk made my wife and family more upset
than it does me. I'm used to it. Everybody that's
known me or seen me has seen me do this.
But being on a big stage, it drew a little
bit more of attention. I realized how crazy I look
doing it. I'm aware, but at the same time, you
can't help it. And you know, I know that nobody
(06:44):
went on you know, social media and said, oh, look
at this guy. But you got to understand when you
see certain things. Okay, maybe that's a little bit more
than just you. No, he has a mop of hair
that he was trying to move and I just couldn't
get it to the right spot. The the the part
about this that I really want to get to because
he goes on and in depth and talks about how
certain things he has to, like he has to touch
the bottom of every glass on a table if he's
(07:04):
sitting down to lunch, like he talked about that, and
he's been dealing with this his whole life. He has
his big pre kick routines. He's got to touch his socks,
he's got to put his cleats on, take his cleats
off is that kickers are creatures of habit, right, and
and kickers are are are you know? Are are? They
have their routine like yeah, this is about being able
to execute emotion time after time. And that's how it is.
(07:29):
Right when you're a kicker, this is your job. What
do I I'm navigating the wind I'm navigating? Is it
a low block they like to have? Do have to
worry about where where they like to come in and
try to block the kick? But kickers are creatures of
habit and routines. When they get ready to go on
the field, they need that, right. Doug Bryan was like
that with the Jets a long time ago, and he
needed his routines to get on the field. And and
(07:50):
what what what really struck me about this is that
here's a Gonzalez who was NFL kicker, then got hurt,
missed a whole season, tried to come back. Here he
is now he's the toast of the town. Kickers sometimes
have to get on the field extremely quickly, right at
the end of the half, the end of the game
to make a real pressure kick. And what really impresses
me is that you Gonzales still has to go through
(08:13):
his routine, right, he has this routine that he goes through,
and sometimes you can't do that. Sometimes it's just hey, boom,
we're done. Because if you have, like say you have
a six minute routine that you need to go through,
like I got to touch my socks. I have to
do this. I have to Sometimes you have a chance
to do that, and I don't know what it's like
to try to go on the field, what it's like
mentally for you to try to make a kick when
(08:34):
you haven't done that, and can you still do that?
Is that something where you're going to miss the kick
no matter what. Can you still find a way to
get by it? Because all the other positions you're able
to figure out a way of Hey, if you're a quarterback,
I do my stuff before the game. If you're a
defensive back, but a kicker, is hey, get back on
the field or get ready for this big moment because
you have long swaths of time where you're not needed
(08:57):
for anything and you know, okay, we're here, we're kicking off.
We're doing that. Like at the end of a game,
like what kind of does he have a shorter version
of a routine? Does he? Because I really find it
so impressive that someone that deals with OCD is able
to at the dry here's a turnover, or hey we
got the on side kick, or hey it's been two passes,
we have no timeouts. Get on the field, get ready.
(09:17):
Maybe you don't have time to do that, right if
you're if you're kicking off the ball back really fast,
or if something happens you don't have time to do it.
Can you get on there and be successful? And and
and that makes me marvel at what he's able to
do because, look, he talks about it, jokes, are out
a dealt with it my whole life, But actually getting
out there when you can be interrupted from your routine,
can you know, can you still make that kick? Is
(09:38):
it something that you have to short circuit things to
be able to do Like that's what makes it so
impressive that he's been able to do that.
Speaker 2 (09:43):
Well.
Speaker 3 (09:43):
The fact that he's still kicking in the National Football
League means he's figured out a way, all right, Because
you get into these down distant circumstances with some regularity,
add some bad clock management on either side of the ball,
and bump, you're gonna be in one of these situations
with some regular larity.
Speaker 4 (10:00):
No.
Speaker 3 (10:00):
I mean, look, he got his his share of stuff
on social media, because I mean most social media is
filled with clods except us at Fox Sports Radio at
how about a Fresco at Swollendme. Nothing but you know,
literary and auditory greatness there. But for Gonzales, yeah, I
mean it's an impressive feat.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
Right.
Speaker 3 (10:20):
You see the process that he was going through that
gets magnified and hopefully it puts the positive spotlight of
performing and trying to compartmentalize as you need to, right,
because we all find a way. There's certain parts of jobs, responsibilities,
you know, family stuff, whatever that may not be comfortable.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
Right.
Speaker 3 (10:43):
For the longest time, my oldest daughter was not comfortable
talking to adults. Yet if you put her on a
stage in front of five thousand people, perfectly fine. Hey
let's go. I'm belting out a song. That guy might
be mocking me to my face.
Speaker 1 (10:58):
I don't care. I don't right.
Speaker 3 (11:01):
We might be in the middle of a play, I
might flob a line, whatever, it doesn't matter. Like, you
find your safe space, your own routines, your people, your comfort,
whatever that may be. And for Gonzales, uh, you know
you got the doink. It was not a double doink,
just the one door. There's one single doink. The year
of living dangerously So when they're over under for Winds
(11:23):
comes out next year, I'm fading it because they've won
five and five in a row with their last possession.
But you know what, everything's living right and right now.
And for Gonzales, yeah, I mean hopefully you know he's
comfortable with being a face for this and talking about
it even more because you know, a lot of people
(11:44):
have insecurities and things that keep them from trying, and
he not just the achievement is it's just the how
do you get yourself to keep going?
Speaker 1 (11:58):
And that that's a big thing.
Speaker 3 (11:59):
I think that we have barriers within our own minds
every day, you know, cause I know I have.
Speaker 1 (12:05):
A little of that because there's certain things where it
just gnaws at me and I can't go to sleep
until I check it, like the thing that and I
don't know if it's just a different thing that I
focus on for a while, but like right now, I
know I can't go to bed unless I know that
the garage door is closed, and I don't know why
(12:26):
right so I when I come home, I go in
through the garage.
Speaker 3 (12:28):
Mainly you're fearing it's gonna be taken over by raccoon exactly.
Speaker 1 (12:31):
Yes, they're all gonna come in and I go in
and and sometimes I'll go in and I'll hit the
close of the garage and I'll hear it behind me.
I'll go in, I'll lock the door, and I'll get ready.
I'll go up to bed and I'll go did I
see the garage door close?
Speaker 4 (12:43):
Like?
Speaker 3 (12:43):
Did I see the garage door close? And I'll lay
there for a few minutes and think, no, I'm fine,
And then I start thinking all kinds of stuff and
whatka and I go, No, I gotta go check.
Speaker 1 (12:51):
It's like, what do you do when I go, I
didn't look to see if the garage door is closed. Now,
lots of times I'll remember, I'll go in and i'll
hit the garage door open, and I'll turn around and
i'll hit it and I'll watch it go down, and
then I'm good, I locked the door, go up to bed, everything.
But if I go and I hit it and I
close it, uh, yeah, that's what make me a bad astronaut,
because I've got oh I didn't close the bay door.
Oh man, we're all dead. Sorry about I thought I closed,
(13:12):
I thought I hit the I thought I was sorry.
Speaker 3 (13:17):
Oh look there goes George clothing and there's that flipping
thing from the Superman.
Speaker 1 (13:22):
But but that happens that I'll lay in bed and
I'll go, No, I gotta go back and look because
I didn't look to see if I close the garage
and I'll go. So I know I have a little
bit of that, but I can't imagine what it's like
to this level where it's like, hey, here's your pressure
making the kick. And oh, by the way, you have
to go through all these routines and figure things out
and get and get yourself in a mental place to
be able to make a kick like that. I really
(13:42):
it's it's it's amazing that he's able to do that.
And I'm glad he's able to talk about it and
and I'm glad he was able to make that kick
and still and be, as you said, be the face
of something where hey, maybe sometimes people don't want to
admit certain things, but hey, it's okay, you can. I
still have a great life. My life is still really good.
You have to do a couple of things people laugh
at and I understand that it's just some things I
have to do, but Manda, to hear him talk about
(14:05):
it and do this is really really impressive.
Speaker 3 (14:07):
Hey, he's a hero, right, he'll get those the punch
card that even if the Jets are the Bears don't
get to their twenty, he'd probably be eating for free
for a while after that.
Speaker 1 (14:16):

We'll get to the big who's this safe? We'll get
to the big NBA star that look, it's time for
him to go to a new teaming up. In a
couple of seconds.
Speaker 3 (16:01):
How we're already overcat not no stop Big Modega the MVP.
Speaker 1 (16:06):
It's give me the MVP of the league. Everything is
good as Jalen Brunson's Act Grown Tired.
Speaker 3 (16:11):
Eight Act, Kevin Durant and Devin Booker have been underachieving
on the Suns for the last couple of years. However,
they make headlines with a wager on this weekend's Lions
Commander's game. Oh, I thought you were going to talk
about the fact that they were able to get a
(16:31):
seven footer.
Speaker 1 (16:32):
Oh well, okay, this is great. This is more interesting.
Uh So you know like Nick Richards, Fine, Nick Richards
is great? What what what's better? Do you want to
talk about getting Nick Richards? You want to talk about this?
What do you want to talk about? You want to
talk about Reid Richards? And do you want to talk
about this?
Speaker 3 (16:48):
Wow?
Speaker 1 (16:48):
If we're going to go back to the flaws, mister
fantastic there's lots of flaws of the Fantastic Four, but
Robert Downey Junior will save everyone. Uh So Durance from Washington, DC,
as you know, and he has been a Commander's fan
his whole life. Devin Booker's from Michigan. He's been a
life long, or at least until up in the last
couple of years, he's been a Lions fan and admitted
Lions fan. So they're gonna play Saturday in Detroit. Big
(17:11):
Game winner goes to the NFC title game and they
play the same day the Suns are in town to
play the Pistons. So there's one game nobody's gonna go to,
and what everybody's gonna go You could, you could. It'd
be a lot cheaper to watch kid Cunningham then than
to go to to watch the Lions. All right, enough
for the jokes at the expense of the underachieving Sons.
(17:33):
So of course they had a stake in the game.
They made a bet and this this is the best
bet that I have heard in sports in so long,
because this I can't wait to see. Thanks loser, you
have to give me a million dollars.
Speaker 4 (17:49):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (17:49):
This is what they have bet on the game if
the Lions win. Okay, Booker's team, the Lions win. Kevin Durant,
this is the best Kevin Durant has to publicly. Thank
Draymond Green for all of his chip.
Speaker 3 (18:09):
Now we're talking in a public mega, guy, you feuded
with I left.
Speaker 1 (18:15):
I couldn't know that. He's gotta thank Draymond Green also
Michigan State. Draymond Yeah, for all of his championships. How
about that?
Speaker 3 (18:27):
For all the finals appeared, the three finals appearances, the
two championships.
Speaker 1 (18:31):
He's gonna thank Draymond for this. Now, that's that's pretty cool.
If the Lions lose, Devin Booker has to write a
personalized Father's Day card to Luka donsig.
Speaker 3 (18:54):
I love that. This is the best bet. I mean,
forget about the whole. Hey, we're from Maryland, so we're
gonna bet crab cakes. You're from Detroit. We're gonna bet
White Castle and uh, here.
Speaker 1 (19:07):
We go, yeah, motor Oil. Then don't forget the you know,
the dom Polskis that had the the uh the muskrat.
Just go stand outside of Sonic murder. Oh not too
soon for that. We'll have well, not the one who
injured Detroit player. We will actually have We'll have stuff
(19:29):
I did not like. Yeah, we'll get to that coming up. Yeah,
Sonic and knuckles on the knuckles. This is the best
bet because I don't know what I want to see more.
Do I want to see a personalized No, I really
want to see KD. You have to thank Draymond Green
for the championships. I really, I really, you know, the
whole Father's Day card. You're my daddy, Luka Doncic, I
(19:51):
really that's kind of fun. But No, I really want
to see kd have to publicly thank uh Draymond Green
for the championships.
Speaker 3 (19:57):
I really want to see that I really did this.
I want to say that this might be the greatest
bet ever put together. And now it's a matter of
how do you orchestrate it? I mean, is there a
minimum of verbiage or time, like if it's a cameo
video that you have to you know, you can't just
say yeah, thanks Dramon and just smirk at the camera
(20:19):
and turn it off. No, no, I want to I
want to feel it. I mean I wanted heartfelt with
like some string quartet or something behind it, to where
it gives it some gravitas.
Speaker 1 (20:30):
Like he's got to be like a rose ceremony from
Yeah no exactly here, He's got to walk over there,
Kenny g playing in.
Speaker 3 (20:36):
The background and Draymond in the background here. I want
to thank you Draymond for all these times, and you
just have to keep cheap handing rose to a guy
that looks like Draymond Green.
Speaker 1 (20:45):
Thank you, thank you for that championship. Thank you for
that championship. Thank you that would be a finals appearance.
Speaker 3 (20:50):
Thank you, Draymond. I wouldn't have done it without you.
And then you had Ai Draymond to say, you know,
blank you too, and blank you blank Draymond, blank.
Speaker 1 (20:58):
You that would work out. I think that works.
Speaker 4 (21:01):
No.
Speaker 3 (21:02):
I think it comes out of a limo. He's got
the tuxedo on. Sure, what what do we got a nice?
Is it an orange? He's not doing color scheme. He's
gotta wear a Draymond Warriors jersey. Okay, Draymond Warriors Jersey.
Forget about the tuxedo. Draymond Warriors Jersey. Wow, that's does
(21:24):
he go full uniform? If you're gonna go in jersey,
you gotta go.
Speaker 1 (21:29):
Yeah, but I would be okay with just the jersey.
Gotta be okay. I think he's gotta thank him. So
now he's wearing another man's surname on his back. Yeah yeah, yeah,
yeah yeah yeah.
Speaker 3 (21:40):
And here's what just kind of goes back to the
father's day kind of thing that you can have those.
Speaker 1 (21:44):
Just and here's the thing.
Speaker 3 (21:45):
Lions are gonna win this game, so they see that.
What if they don't, they're gonna see it then I
really you would never go back to Michigan tough.
Speaker 1 (21:55):
They would. Pam's family would find something. Now, they'd find
some way to blame me.
Speaker 3 (22:00):
I mean that without going back to Michigan. I think
he'll be, oh, yeah, you've.
Speaker 1 (22:03):
Not brought us any dom Polsky audio or anything. Nothing.
Speaker 4 (22:08):
No, I did you want me to bring you? You
want me to bring your must championship game. That's about
all you brought the city. I brought them all the
way to that. I just needed to get a little
bit more over the finish line. Yeah, but you left
them at the city limits.
Speaker 1 (22:20):
I didn't. I brought them all the way to the
fact that I can't. Can you You kicked them out
of the car.
Speaker 3 (22:27):
Then you thought it was a great idea to give
their vegan running back song burger.
Speaker 1 (22:33):
You left him Malta nursed and and he got hurt
like you got Hell's wrong. You make it sound like
I found David Montgomery grabbed a burger and slammed it
into his.
Speaker 3 (22:41):
Throat and said. No. No, you tried to do that
to Tysher once you you didn't suit your ass.
Speaker 1 (22:45):
Not do that. Not did not do that. They hate
you more than Papa Dog. They love mere you kidding.
They love me there, They love me that.
Speaker 3 (22:53):
If they will, I will say though he's probably better
at the uh spontaneous rhyming than Papa Doc.
Speaker 1 (22:59):
Yeah, Papa I'm not saying he's the best rapper to
never have to rap. Papa Doc didn't have to say anything.
He's just gonna drop that was in the script. You
didn't have to do anything. You know, what if them
behind the scenes that guy just went.
Speaker 3 (23:10):
Off and they said no, he was too good, doesn't Kimmy.
Speaker 1 (23:15):
They'll do that. They'll tell eight Mile from Papa Doc's version,
and you'll get to see the rise of Papa Doc
and Eminem's the villain. I think it would make a
bucket some cat.
Speaker 3 (23:26):
I do all this stuff, I wear my varsity leather jacket,
and some swinger from eight Mile shows up and wins.
Speaker 1 (23:32):
What the hell? Man? Guy's throwing up on himself? How
does this guy beat me? How does he even get in?
And why is Mackay Pfiffer here? Well, last time I
saw him, he was on E R.
Speaker 3 (23:41):
What is.
Speaker 1 (23:44):
When's the last time you saw may? When's last time
he saw Well? I saw that last scene? Okay, all right,
he was on E R.
Speaker 3 (23:52):
Mike puts Fiffer on his salad and TJ maybe not
Michelle Pfeiffer.
Speaker 1 (23:58):
Okay, so that big bet is happening. Meanwhile, he's fifty
years old. I uh, I want to thank the seventy
six ers for giving up in the final minute of
overtime and deciding they've had enough basketball, allowing the Knicks
to walk away with a win. Tonight, Paul George hits
a three to make it an eight point game in
(24:21):
overtime against the Knicks with fifty seconds left to go
five zero. So I'm like, okay, well, they're going to
foul the Knicks. Put them on the free throw line.
At least make the Licks try to make a couple
of free throws. No, no, no, no, no. Knicks get the
ball and the Knicks get to dribble out almost all
of the shot clock before Jalen Brunson gets it stolen
and Max he goes in for a layup. Okay, so
now there's twenty eight seconds left. It's a two possession game. Okay,
(24:43):
what are you gonna do if you're the Sixers, We're
gonna completely give up and they allow the Knicks to
take the entire shot clock down for a shot clock
violation with four seconds left. They don't try it's a
two possession game. They don't try to foul. They try
to steal the ball, but the Knicks are able to
move the BA all around and Josh Hart is standing
there with the ball in his hands as the clock
(25:04):
hit zero. So now the Sixers get the ball back
with four seconds left in overtime, and they're sitting there
down six, when they could have tried to foul. A
miss free throw a three. It's a one possession game.
The Sixers just decided to quit in overtime. I think
clock management. It's they're jealous of the NFL's ratings.
Speaker 3 (25:25):
This said, they just decided to emulate the clock management,
thinking that it would translate into wins.
Speaker 1 (25:30):
This is like fireable offenses for saying, we're just we're
just quitting in overtime. We're just not playing at the
end of overtime. You had you had a minute left
is an eight point game, you had thirty seconds left
in a six point game. You're not trying. I'd be talking,
you're walking away. That's it. I mean, that is a
lot of guys can't shoot free throws. I mean a
lot more than Brooklyn is tonight. Well, brook Brooklyn doesn't
(25:51):
have to try for that. But that's like fireable for
Nick Nurse, Like that's like, how do you just quit?
How your team's got to know? Hey, man, where just
quitting on the season? Right, We're nine games under five hundred,
We've quit. Everybody get it.
Speaker 2 (26:04):
It needs play.
Speaker 3 (26:05):
But you finally have Paul George back, Yeah, playing playing
decent basketball. But also the other day his comments kind
of owe into all this I'm bored.
Speaker 1 (26:15):
The hell is that? I mean? And look, and this
gets to the next part. You can tell now tonight
with the Sixers just saying we had enough basketball, we're done.
Thirty nine games in they quit at the end of
the game and Bid doesn't play. You can tell the
Sixers are just waiting for some big shoot to drop,
for something to happen. And that thing needs to be
(26:35):
trading Joel Embiid. And I know it's hard. Look it's hard.
Look Rick stopped by last night and said, look, it's
hard to trade Zion because of the money. It's hard
to trade Jimmy Butler because of the money.
Speaker 3 (26:44):
Ah, maybe not so much of Joel Embiid, because this
is the guy still a couple of years removed from
being the MVP and We have seen superstar players in
the NBA who have stopped trying for their for their
former team and you think they're done, but then they
get traded to their new team and suddenly, look, it's
the fountain of youth.
Speaker 1 (27:01):
Whether it's James Harden or Chris Paul or KD whoever
it is. Hey, now we're ready to go, and now
now I'm ready to go again. Well look at that.
That's fantastic. Joel Embiid for both sides need a fresh start.
They both do. The Sixers need to start over. They
need to get out from under his money. They've gone
and they've seen the best of Joel Embiid. Now he's
over thirty and you're seeing a guy that's having a
(27:22):
hard time staying in the lineup for whatever reason. Build
around maxi He's your superstar and start over. You're ten
games under five hundred. You're not going anywhere this year.
It is time for that move to be made. And
if you are an NBA team contending, you're thinking of
well Embiid in his motivation and being in shape, that's
something that's in question. But you gotta think for the
(27:43):
next two postseasons and Beiid is gonna be there, and
he's gonna be someone who Hey, it's a new start
for me, new city, new team, I can win. I'm
motivated for the last couple months of this year and
then the first whole season with my new team into
the next playoff. Now after that, Joel Embiid may turn
back into Hey, I'm done, I don't feel like playing anymore.
But you watch, he will magically be healthy if you
(28:04):
traded him, excited to be with a fresh start, and
he is like you talk about Jimmy Butler. Hey, for
the right team, he can help being and over the
top guy. Zion Williams said, if he's healthy, could he
be in over the top Joelle Embiid clearly can be
in over the top guy to take you from a
contender to being an overwhelming title favorite as long as
he's healthy. And I'm telling you he'll be magically healthy
if you trade him. And for both sides, you need
(28:25):
it to happen, because you know what's gonna happen anyway.
You're just waiting for either and Bid to say I
want to be traded, or the Sixers to say we've
had enough, we want to trade you. You got three
weeks of the trading deadline. If you put em Bead's
name out there, you can wind up getting what you
need for him to get ready for next year and beyond.
It's time for this to happen. When I saw the
Sixers quick tonight at the end of overtime, I said,
now it just has to happen. Now.
Speaker 3 (28:46):
He's playing thirteen games this year, averaging about thirty minutes
a night twenty four points per game, down over ten
points per game from last year where he appeared only
thirty nine. And then blame the fact that he was
gonna need to play sixty five to earn an award,
and that's what did him in.
Speaker 1 (29:05):
Damnit.
Speaker 3 (29:05):
He pushed himself too hard to try to win an award.
Come on, man, I'm not going down this road, all right.
We're talking about the the NBA and salary caps and
all these apors where his contract is, he's got three
more years on it to where under the current rate,
he would account for thirty five percent of your cap,
(29:26):
and you have to make assets matchup.
Speaker 1 (29:29):
What do you got, Joel em beat on this side?
How do we counterweight that?
Speaker 3 (29:32):
Oh? I got four guys and the value of nineteen picks.
Speaker 1 (29:38):
All right, let's go where. How does this help us content?
Oh it doesn't. We're gonna have first round picks from
now until twenty fifty just to wait trust up every.
Speaker 3 (29:46):
Couple of years because of the other NBA rules on that.
But yeah, the point is, yeah, I wouldn't. I wouldn't
take him on. I just can't trust the health. The
motivation too. I think I think he's someone you can tie.
I would absolutely take that run. We don't need him
because you know, we got Big Bodega who is fine.
See now you don't want him, you want them all along.
And now oh he's got to go.
Speaker 1 (30:05):
Some first for two posts love, Yeah, but but now
we got what we got Karl Anthony Town. Yeah he's
heard too. But for two postseasons. I think I can
trust him. For you're talking about a calendar time of
a calendar year and and four months, and I think
you're okay to do that with Joel. And I'm going
to bring out all right, exit out vout of Fresca,
(30:26):
Exit Swollen Dome. The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmon
live from the Tirack dot Com Studios coming up next
right now, someone's going to tell you what's trending. Who
we turned down the offer of her for Joel Embiid
when Nick Nurse called us, it's Monty Blagos. She's got
what's trending. You know you should have taken me.
Speaker 5 (30:43):
I would be playing more.
Speaker 1 (30:44):
Games, this is true. I'd like to see him back
to back, back to back, back to back. I'd like
to see you at the center position for Joel Embiid.
Speaker 5 (30:51):
I could do it under five ft Okay, yeah, you
really could.
Speaker 1 (30:56):
You would be the strategy. Strategy. I'm just saying. You
can't even see her on the court. It's amazing. Their
their dribble will be as high as me. Easy for
me to strip the ball. That's it.
Speaker 3 (31:10):
And unlike the NFL, you don't have that, you know,
leverage play. If she could get a hand up to
get you know, someone to vaulture into the air, let
me cheerleader style to block a shot.
Speaker 1 (31:22):
She can do it. Let me type in and bead
from Monsie in the NBA trade machine and see see yeah,
I see if that comes out her gas.
Speaker 5 (31:28):
Guys, the Lakers were down, but they came back and
they had some fun doing it.
Speaker 1 (31:34):
The ball turn all this up in the two.
Speaker 5 (31:42):
Joe, Yeah, you just started all on Lakers television from
Spectrum Sports Net. They outscored the Heat in the fourth
quarter thirty four to twenty three.
Speaker 1 (31:52):
They win it one seventeen to one.
Speaker 5 (31:53):
Oh waight Lebron James Undon with twenty two points and
nine assists. Steph Curry put on his own show in
Minnesota against the Timberwolves. He had seven threes and died
with thirty one points and eight assists, and they edged
the Timberwolves one sixteen to one fifteen. The Knicks, they
beat the seventy six ers, as you mentioned in overtime.
I don't know if they gave up, but maybe they
gave up. One twenty five to one nineteen was the final,
(32:15):
and the Raptors had a one to ten ninety seven
upset over the Celtics. Yes, all of Boston's players played,
but they shot thirty nine percent from the field compared
to Toronto's fifteen fifty percent, and they were also sixteen
of forty six from the three point line, which is
not normal for Boston. The Grizzlies outscored the Spurs one
twenty nine to one point fifteen.
Speaker 1 (32:34):
The Rockets crews passed the.
Speaker 5 (32:35):
Nuggets one twenty eight to one oh eight.
Speaker 1 (32:37):
No Nicola Jokic.
Speaker 5 (32:39):
He injured his elbow during warm ups and was scratched
right before the game. In college hoops one game currently
going on number twenty two, Utah State losing to UNLV
fifty to forty seven with about ten minutes to go
in the game. And in the NFL, Ravens wide receivers
A Flowers misspractice again today because of that knee injury.
The Colts are going to serve as a home team
(32:59):
for the NFL in Berlin, Germany, next regular season, and
Texas quarterback Quin Years is entering the twenty twenty five
NFL Draft.
Speaker 1 (33:08):
Back to you guys, thanks a bunch.
Speaker 2 (33:09):
Mon.
Speaker 3 (33:10):
Did you see that our guy Dan Woiki went viral
at the Kryptnight?
Speaker 4 (33:14):
No?
Speaker 1 (33:14):
Did what happened?
Speaker 4 (33:15):
No?
Speaker 3 (33:15):
He put a picture up from the jumbo tron Becky
Lynch and date at Lakers Heat. WHOA, Her husband is
none other than Seth Rollins. Yeah, fellow w WE superstar.
So he started getting a lot of hate from wrestling crowds.
Speaker 1 (33:32):
Uh, you went Seth Rollins alone, jerk.
Speaker 3 (33:35):
So he's got over sixty nine thousand views, sixty comments,
a lot of hate and then ain't. He followed up
with another picture of Rollins said he talked to him
about the Bears head coaching job at halftime. Oh chat,
but I'm like, look, you went full heel and got
some heat.
Speaker 1 (33:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (33:53):
Oh not acknowledging seth Rowlins. Becky Lynch getting ready to
make her return.
Speaker 1 (33:58):
Becky Lynch and Date. Wait wait, what are you talking?
What do you dat about? Exit out? About a Fresca
exit swollen dome. The Jason Smith Show with My best
friend Mike Carmon Live from the tireg dot com Studios
coming up next, Yes, and update on a big NFL
injury situation. It looks like the band is getting back together,
or at least two members of a video game are
(34:20):
the band Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (34:25):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 1 (34:35):
Welcome to eighties Night on The Jason Smith Show with
Mike Harmon. Yeah, ninety nine left balloons getting heavy rotation
here by Mary, and they didn't get fully played, you know,
past the sour kroud. Here's the thing about ninety nine
Left balloons. Yeah, is that not only does it rhyme
in German, it rhymes in English, which I like, really
(34:56):
rhymes in German and the rhymes in English. How about that?
It's a win for everybody. Yeah, I didn't know a
bilingual win. Has Mary played a good song tonight? This
is a good song, you know, like you don't like
that New ninety nine left below? We're playing emo music today.
I'm sorry.
Speaker 3 (35:13):
It's a happy ish song about war bitch.
Speaker 1 (35:18):
I mean we did get love Gun, so that was good. Yeah, No,
thatway was we got love Gun? Yeah.
Speaker 3 (35:23):
Fox Sports Radio it is Jason Smith Mike Harmon live
from the tire rack dot Com Studios, Dex. He's midnight
Runners where I was thinking about coming in like Vince
will Fork and Overalls.
Speaker 1 (35:32):
Dad. You haven't heard the last of them. So it
looks like Sonic and Knuckles. We'll be back this weekend.
How about that? David Montumery for you back practice, Tod
not injured. David Montgomery, uh back at practice for the Lions.
And I know it shocks a lot of people when
you got hurt week fifteen, you're thinking, Okay, he's done
(35:53):
for the rest of the season. Gets hurt against the Bills,
but suddenly look Montgomery back and ready to go, likely
going to played. Now we got to wait and see
how the rest of this week goes, but it looks
like he's going to be able to play Saturday against
the Commanders. Number one. Now I am off the hook.
I have off the he was on the show. It
depends how he performed.
Speaker 3 (36:12):
We internew the hook. Yet we interviewed him. Yes, he
got hurt the next week. That is not on us,
not on us.
Speaker 1 (36:17):
No, but you've got you've got history, not a hey coach.
I talked to that loss. You know, he did say
something very correct right there. What did I say? It
is not on us, it's on you. It's not it's
not on me. It's not like he's walking around going
you know, I did the interview with the guy that
didn't know I was a vegetarian, and then I got hurt. No, no, no,
it's not me, not on me.
Speaker 3 (36:37):
Maybe he was inundated night offers after that and it
offended his sensibilities.
Speaker 1 (36:42):
Well maybe have you passed those over to Jamiir Gibbs. Hey,
your sonic eye knuckles. Okay, you take this now.
Speaker 3 (36:48):
But it got into his psyche and sent him into
an existential crisis, which thereby affected his ability to do
his training under normal circumstances as normal routines, thereby becoming
a vehicle by which he was injured.
Speaker 1 (37:03):
Here's what I want you to do. I want you
to quit this job, move to Detroit, come up with
a vegan or vegetarian burger place, call it Knuckles, and
then everything is fine. I want you to I want
you to do that. I know I want you to.
I want you to go. But look, here's the thing
with Montgomery coming back. If you know me, the Jamiir
(37:24):
Gibbs guy, I am uh. The offense hasn't lost a beat,
and in fact, you could say the offense is really
more dangerous because Jamiir Gibbs. I'll take him right now
over any running back in the NFL. I'll take him
over Barkley, I'll take him over Derrick Henry. The pressure
he puts on a defense just by being out there
(37:45):
is immense. David Montgomery's a good running back, Don't get
me wrong. He's a good running back. And and and
Dan Campbell's are a lot in him. The last couple
of years, you know, you get a lot of touches,
and hey, we're gonna go hit you with with Montgomery
and Jamier Gibbs. But you see, when Jamiir Gibbs is
on the field, the offense is so much better. It's
so much more dangerous. And because Gibbs is so incredibly fast,
(38:05):
he's so gifted, he's so talented. You get him out
on an outpass really quickly and suddenly he's got the
ball within a second and a half. He's someone that
is that right now. It's the most dangerous running back
in the NFL. And what you have seen over the
last couple of games, yes, it's it was awful to
lose one of your good players. It's awful to lose Montgomery.
(38:26):
But on the flip side, the one thing you've seen is, Okay, hey,
Jamiir Gibbs can handle twenty touches a game. That's not
where we got, you know, twelve touches at No, Jamir
Gibbs is that good. You have to feed him the football,
especially in this situation. Yeah, I still don't want to
doing that seventeen times plus the playoffs. But Frostburg, did
you hear in between the lines there? Full endorsement of
Gibbs and trying to take down Montgomery. That's exactly what
(38:48):
he did there the second time. Yeah, I'm not trying
to take him down. Off took him down too. You
have found took him down Gibbs. And he missed how
many weeks Mark Gibbs just a two and a half? Uh?
It just and that's fine. And a half and a
half well because he missed a game against the rest
of the game against the Bills and a half did
he play the Jets or something? You only need to
play a half against the Jets. We're gonna sit you.
Speaker 3 (39:10):
I think though, like started starting John Robinson and Bucky
Irving had those guys and have some fun with it.
Speaker 1 (39:17):
But no, Gibbs has been fantastic.
Speaker 3 (39:19):
And we add some feedback a little bit earlier for
something we talked about where folks are like raising their
hand for Jared Goff and his participation in things. Jason
Cole added Matthew Stafford to that list of quarterbacks that
are difference makers on a whole other level. So that's
kind of fun running backs. It's it's a whole other discussion.
The fact that we're talking about running backs with such
(39:42):
lofty it just makes me smile, you know, me all
aged and everything, as we've relayed over the course of
the night, maybe by playing all the eighties music as
a tribute to the longevity. But Jamiir Gibbs been fantastic offensively,
Ben Johnson's been in his bag. The fact that you
can run plays out and you've gotten Jamison Williams really
(40:06):
bought in most of the time to where the occasional
knucklehead penalty is still there, but otherwise you're getting consistent
effort pinay sewell and trick.
Speaker 1 (40:16):
Plays and all of those other things.
Speaker 3 (40:18):
But you got an offense moving and they need to
because they need to score every one of those damn points.
Because yes, I know the defense did really well against
Sam Darnold and the Vikings.
Speaker 1 (40:28):
They got to keep it up. And look, I know
you need all the helping. Yet look, yes, is this
a game where the Commanders could stay in a big
shootout back and forth. Yeah, but the Lion's playing at home.
The way the offense is, it's just too good. It's
too much pressure. And with Gibbs getting the Lion's share
of the carries, you see what I did, Look at you.
(40:51):
The offense is just too difficult to stop. Montgomery is
someone not that he's a plotter, but he's not. He's
not to that level of being as exciting is game
breaking as gibbson. I just wanted to call him a mutter.
Speaker 3 (41:03):
They get in his twenty eight bucks sideline seats one
hundred level, not one thousand, for that basketball game to
see who loses the bet. Yeah, all or no. The
football game is four thirty three. To get in the
basketball game is twenty eight Yeah, and then there are
a lot of thousands.
Speaker 1 (41:18):
For good seats. They pay you twenty Sorry coming up next,
Wait till we tell you who the cowboy is going
to talk to to be their next head coach.
