forty two things here?

What else did he do? He did this?

Speaker 1 (01:15):
He was a bowler and he did this. He wore
a bowler hat. He did this, He did that.

Speaker 4 (01:18):
Jack.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
This is gonna give me time to say the list.

Brady conversation, we had a few minutes ago before I
tell you exactly where Aaron Rodgers is going to play

(01:47):
football at twenty twenty five. So we talked about brady
announcement today through his agent's going to continue to broadcast,
fulfill his career at Fox, you know, getting paid thirty
seven million dollars a year the next nine years.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
I'd find a way to fulfill that as well.

Speaker 1 (01:59):
Oh yeah, and you know I talked about how had
he been in a three man booth this year, it
would have been a better indoctrination into what it means,
because I think he still struggles too much with trying
to say everything and tell you everything happening with the game.
What sit back, be yourself the action. People are watching
the action, they're listening to you talk.

Speaker 4 (02:18):
See.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
The criticism was often the opposite that you didn't get
enough of that well, because there were a lot of
just basic Okay, I get it, I know how the
downs work, Yeah, but I feel I don't need that
you know yet, break down for me a big pass
play on third and thirteen, but you know second and four,
you know two yards up the middle.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
I don't need to know everything going on on the play.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
Generally, people just you know, it comes one ear and
out the other when you see analysis. But what sticks
are the stories and what is said in different moments.
How does Troy Aikman make the news that he does. Well,
it's when Hey, they're coming back from breaking Jim and
Joe Bucker talking in the in the in the booth
and he says something about the Cowboys. Oh look what
Troyichman said last night about the Cowboys Monday night Football.

(03:00):
This would be easier for Tom Brady if he was
a third man in the booth. He could pick his spots.
I can tell a story about this guy. I can
tell you exactly what the quarterbacks saw here, and it
would be it would have been a different year from it,
and he would still be elevated. And what the reason
he could do that is that in the last few years,
like we have seen a big morphing of what we

(03:20):
will what we are okay with seeing when it comes
to the broadcast of sporting events, right, whether it's the
Manning cast, the Nickelodeon cast, We're okay, we see the
action on screen. You don't need to sit here and
tell me everything all the time. But entertain me, tell
me when I want, when I need to know something,
and entertain me. And as long as you're doing both
of those things, you don't need to be the whole

(03:41):
First down, first and ten. Here's an outpass for seven yards.
Second and three. The analyst talks, all right, second and three.
Here we go split backfield, in motion to the right. Okay,
incomplete pass. Here's what happened on the incomplete pass. Like,
we don't need that anymore. You know, the Mannings are
showing you today. You can talk about whatever you want to.
People are watching the game. You still need to be
beholden a little bit to what's going on, because if

(04:04):
there's something, if there's a penalty flag, I want to
see the replay. I want to see if that's a penalty,
I want to see what's going on here. If you
have a great, big piece of insight onto why this
call is here, you have a story about the coach,
like you still have need to tell me the story
of the game, but you don't need to be so
beholden to it, which is why Brady's A third man
in the booth would have worked out really well. You

(04:25):
have seen the last few years you can be a
little bit looser with your broadcast, and certainly, yes it
costs more money to put three men in a booth,
but you want Brady to succeed, you could have put
a third.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
Man in the booth with him and it would be
a much different time for him.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
Now that's nice, nice and easy. You could just pluck
one from any of the pregame shows. You'll be just fine.
You you get to be in the booth, okay, if
you want to go down that road, perfect cause, I man,
what did we see when when we had the Christmas Games?
I think we missed an entire possession introducing everybody that
was part of the telecas So you run through that,

(04:58):
but you know, all in and for me, I'll be afraid.
I mean, the only time Troykman makes noise is when
he's surly Troy, and at this point, Tom Brady's not
comfortably being surly Tom Brady. Right, the Troy Aikman thing
was because it was his old team and he got
he was a smartass about it. Okay, that made news.

(05:19):
Nothing else did. Yeah, Like, unless he goes heavy on
the criticism of a quarterbacks playing a game, it comes
and goes right, people are more Joe Buck hates my
team more than they are anything that Aikman says for
For Brady, you know, the poison pens are out and
he's got to find his space. Yeah, part of it's
just getting comfortable of what you want to give because

(05:41):
you're not that far removed from the game. Because that's
the other thing of this. Even though he missed the
year before, you know, training or whatever he was doing
finalizing divorce proceedings, all of those things and getting his life,
you know, into that next phase business dealings, et cetera,
he's still a guy that could probably quarterback, half the
teams in the NFL. So the criticism, and that's where

(06:05):
we get into in terms of critiquing things. He's not
gonna have the acid tongue just yet that we love, right,
because there's there's honesty and then there's honesty in terms
of assessing a quarterback play. Yeah, look that throws a
little bit off. It's like, you know what, he's been
woefully behind all day. They obviously communication, there's been some
rumblings of blah. That's where we find we're just that

(06:28):
distinction able to give your opinion sharply and quickly concisely
where it's Wow, I didn't think about that. You're a
you can get outside of the game and do that.
I don't think he's hit that point where I feel
comfortable describing the action, getting outside of it, getting it
back for the play.

Speaker 3 (06:43):
And you just he he needs to be able to
breathe a little.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
Bit more in between what he says, and I feel
like he's got a lot on his plate and he
just can't be himself yet.

Speaker 3 (06:52):
But if they didn't tell you three men, both would
have worked. But it worked. I wish him well.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
Uh, Normally my games are muted and I've got some
kind of metal in the so little Harry Chapin, I don't.

Speaker 3 (07:02):
Know doty dirty.

Speaker 1 (07:06):
I mean watching the four box because now I'm like,
which which one's.

Speaker 3 (07:09):
The voice coming from? What Kevin dec What are you doing?

Speaker 1 (07:12):
Fo fi fight fi fi fi fi fiof fight fire now.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
Speaking, he said forty year old quarterbacks.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
Today, Aaron Rodgers on the Pat McAfee show, first time
he has spoken publicly since the end of the season
with the Jets, and he has reiterated something that we've
heard a little bit rumblings about from him since the
season ended. Hey, my future with the Jets depends on
who the next coach in the GM is. When that
decision is made, we'll get together and talk and maybe
we'll have this dance, or maybe we won't. We've heard

(07:42):
stories that maybe he's a good fit in Pittsburgh. Let
me tell you Week one of the twenty twenty five season,
Aaron Rodgers will be playing quarterback for the New York Jets.

Speaker 3 (07:52):
He's gonna be the third man of this move. It's
gonna he'll be He'll be Rogers with Brady and Kevin Burker.
Oh I met with you and me.

Speaker 1 (07:59):
He'll be playing back for the Jets. Why I'm glad
you asked number one? Is there a lot to be
made from Hey, maybe Aaron Rodgers Woody Johnson aren't on
the same page. He's thrown some shots a little bit
of shade at Woody in the press. Wood he wanted
Rogers bench at one point last season. Yeah, but if
he was gone, we'd have known that. And Woody Johnson
has the pat We know he's not shy with making decisions.

(08:20):
He would have said, whatever's going on next year with
a coach GM, you're not gonna have Aaron Rodgers. And
with twenty so at interviews, we'd have known that by now.
Even Rex Ryan interview said, hey, Rogers is not having
that next year when I'm there, It's not gonna be
Club Aaron next year when I'm there. Not saying Rogers
will be gone, just saying it's not gonna be Club Aaron.
If Woody Johnson wanted Aaron Rodgers gone, he would be gone.

(08:42):
He is not. So now he's up to the next
GM and the head coach you come in, Okay, so
let's say what do you do if you're the GM
and the head coach? This is not a year to
get your quarterback of the president future in the first
round of this draft.

Speaker 3 (08:54):
The Jets aren't drafting high enough.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
This is the year to have that pick in the
second or third round when you can draft a Kyle
McCorry or a Jackson Dart or Jalen Milroe or Quinn
eewers Hey and you try to put him in your
quarterback room. Jets still have Jordan Travis right who was
never healthy all last year after the incredible year he
had at Florida State a year ago. So the best
thing for the Jets to do is, hey, we fill
our quarterback room with a couple of guys with promise.
We still need a bridge quarterback. As you saw the

(09:18):
last few games of the year, Rogers was in bad
still finished the season top ten in touchdowns, top ten
in yards, didn't win games, And I'm willing to go
as far as to say maybe he needed instead of
three or four games to get back to who he was,
he needed ten or eleven games, because that's finally when
I saw him not as skittish in the pocket, more decisive,

(09:39):
be able to throw the football downfield. Maybe it just
took him a long time because he's forty to come
back from that injury. And as we've seen as the
season went through, Aaron Rodgers was to blame in the
beginning for everything. And then the Jets fired their head coach,
they fired their general manager, the defense stunk, and then
at the end of the year, hey boy, the Jets
have way more problems than Aaron Rodgers. Rogers made it

(09:59):
through the credit, through the gauntlet and now came out
the other side. So now when you're looking at it
next year, it's well, we could do a lot worse
than Aaron Rodgers being our bridge quarterback because we're not
gonna get a guy in the draft to come in.
We're not gonna go into free agency and get somebody
because there's nobody out there. We're not gonna bring Sam
Darnold back, We're not gonna trade for Kirk Cousins and

(10:19):
his contract. There's nobody else out there. So what else
is a better thing to do than to run it
back with Rogers, who has already said I'll mentor young quarterbacks.
He knows he's near the end, he knows he has
no power anymore. I'll do this, and the new GM
and head coach come in and say, Okay, we have
a year to set this team up, and then a
year from now, let's say things don't work out, it

(10:40):
doesn't matter. Rogers has done, he retires, we move on
and it's our first year one with the organization because
we're moving on from Aaron Rodgers. So the GM and
the head coach come in and say, we kind of
have a Mulligan year to get things going and Rogers
can be our guy at the beginning. Does he be
the guy at the end, but maybe he's a guy
at the beginning. It all makes sense. If he was
gonna be gone, he'd be gone already. He's going to

(11:01):
be the quarterback Week one for the Jets next season.
There's also no reason to move him or do anything
right now or make any proclamations on it right in
the interview process.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
You've got how many guys are they up to?

Speaker 1 (11:13):
Seventeen plus fifteen or sixteen GM candidates. That's an awful
lot of blueprints at thirty seven. Now, is it up
really in a row for both of them?

Speaker 4 (11:24):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (11:24):
You kudn't.

Speaker 1 (11:25):
Yeah, one after I think it's eighteen and nineteen is
where they're gonna be.

Speaker 3 (11:28):
After the Bears actually took a day off. We'm interviewing people.
Why do you take a day off?

Speaker 1 (11:32):
The lackers, slackers, slacker bears, tired, don't want a head coach.
Do you know the Jets have two more They talked
to Arthur Smith yesterday. I mean they do three stone unturned. Yeah, yeah,
all the way through. But the idea being you're getting
tons of blueprints, right, tons of ideas, and maybe the
one you land on is we just need everything fresh.

(11:55):
And you recognize twenty twenty five is going to be
painful and we're not even gonna have a face like
Aaron Rodgers to lead us. I don't know how happy
a lot of those skill position players are who need
to show out, you know, to get their next deals,
So they might be a little salty in that prospect,
which is why bringing back Rogers makes sense. Free agency class.

(12:18):
You mentioned Sam Darnold, beyond that, it's Russell Wilson, it's
justin fields, it's who else that's it? Right, It's a
not exactly a robust list of candidates to come walking
through the doors. So as long as it's set up
where it is the year zero before you're actually on

(12:40):
the clock to show that you know how to coach
have some acumen in picking players and can rebuild a roster,
then it all makes sense.

Speaker 3 (12:47):
He played well down the stretch.

Speaker 1 (12:48):
By the time he did, nobody was paying attention because
he wasn't talking enough and giving you anything crazy to
jump up and down on him about.

Speaker 3 (12:57):
It's like I did his appearance anything nothing.

Speaker 1 (13:00):
Yeah, he makes He went from it's all Rogers' fault
to hey, everything is okay because the Drones there was
only so much he could do with that. We had
a little bit of fun with it.

Speaker 3 (13:10):
Ruben Drones.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
It was not his fault. No, it was not Ruben
Drones's fault. Ex lions for one hundred n I said, done,
go Ducks. But it's the the idea of a quarterback
that is especially with what he's saying right, and this
is where the rubber meets the road. If he's telling
the truth about where he's at mentally in his career,
of I recognize the end and I need to be

(13:33):
a mentor to X y Z that's in the room,
then everybody wins. Now, if he ends up being an obstinate,
stand off ish buffoon on the other side of the
locker room saying try to talk to me in a
quarterback meeting.

Speaker 3 (13:48):
Beat it rook.

Speaker 1 (13:49):
Then we got problems and we'll laugh at them, thusly
telling you Rogers. Week one under Center, New York chet

the NFL, The Cowboys, Dion Sanders, the Jets, Aaron Glenn,
What is happening? Who's gonna get what job? Nobody better
to talk to than the guy who stopped buying with us?

(15:31):
Tonight Jay Glazer, NFL on Fox Insider Extraordinaire. And it's
been a huge wild week for Jay Glazer. He was
evacuated from his home with the wildfires in Los Angeles. Jay,
I know it's been tough. Thank you so much for
stopping by with us here. You and your family safe.
Everything Okay, we.

Speaker 4 (15:50):
Actually got back in our house. Thank you guys, our
house we are said God, we're safe. We got back
at our house about two hours ago. We got power,
no hot water or no heat, which just means I
guess it's snuggle Rosie. I'm good and uh, but you know,
it's it's it's it's wild because where our old mouth was,

(16:13):
which is just some miles down the road, is completely gone,
as is everything over there. So it's kind of like
about four miles down from us. Everything south without is gone,
everything north without us here. I've got a lot of
friends who lost every day. And listen, guys, one thing
I will tell you here. I was. I was on

(16:33):
ground here about eleven and it's the worst thing that
ever happened to us, and the best of people came
out and the same thing is happening here, like the
worst of times brings out the best of people. Some
us that God is saying, this is how I want
you to act. Can you please act like this? Not
just in time to tragedy And it's it's been. It's

(16:57):
just it's it's it's we haven't better than the most
we've which exhausting just being displays and not knowing. And
you know, we came up here. I met with the Uh,
it's pretty well across Like now I've figured out though,
like where my house is probably safest place here because
the ground zero for the fire department it's pretty much

(17:19):
right almost cross the street, a little bit downs in
the beach, but it looks like a military base. It
goes on for about a mile. There's four thousand firemen
and women and support staff. There are four thousand and
from you see we drove past Hey, there's two. We
just got back up here. And there's cars from everywhere,
like fire trucks from everywhere. That's just here. And there's

(17:43):
tents for them on the beach for them to fire fire,
come back sleep. It's not like there's a lot of fire.
There's a lot of people here from I mean it
goes from different countries, different states. Well you know, think
about that. Where are they going to sleep? So there's
always tent set up, there's always book set up for them,
the trucks set up for shouting pears, all these I mean,

(18:05):
there's so many volunteers to set up to like food
and for yes. I think also like it's strenuous. They
have like coropractice and physical therapist here. What these guys
to put their body through And it was just it's amazing.
I'm actually going back tomorrow in the morning to bring
more supplies and just talk mental health to whoever needs it,

(18:27):
whoever I can just be around, just be around them,
And it's really part of it too, like just giving
your time, uh to them. I think it was a
lot when I realized the other day when I went
there and when with Rosie and they're kind of making
a big go over her, which is good, which is funny.
So we had a little we had a little levity there,
which is good. Look laughter, right, So I always say

(18:49):
it for my pillars, like laughter fights to that gradient.
And this was this is beyond gray, this is They're
in for a tough fight too, because after they put
these ours out right now, thank god that contains. They said,
you know, our next fight can be really hard. We
have to go kind of search the house to house
for for for bodies and remains, and so there's gonna

(19:11):
be gonna be a really it's not. I just I
don't want people to think, hey, the fires are out
and the fight's over. It's not the chase, like I think,
the struggle is just beginning for a lot of people.

Speaker 1 (19:24):
Good to hear our guys, boys, things are turning in
a positive direction. He's on the ground and helping out
and obviously nationwide globally wherever you can help chime in
as well. Jay Glaizer, our guests here on the show. Jay,
some news in the in the Fox line. A lot
of speculation about Tom Brady in the broadcast world, his
ties to the Raiders and what it all means and

(19:46):
what his tenure happens. I mean, you've been working with
Tom and we've had a couple of great clips with
you this year on the pregame show.

Speaker 3 (19:54):
What's the expectation going forward?

Speaker 4 (19:57):
Every time I've talked to him, he's like, I'm doing
this for ten years. In fact, he loves he loves it,
and I will tell you this, he is working his
butt off on the seats like people have no idea
what he's doing. I do a lot of people talk
to you like he is, but he's not one of
the likes. He's a private dude. But he is working
so hard to be great at this. And I think,

(20:17):
like Tom Brady thoughts the greatest im he ain't gonna
stop till he's like, not just great, but the best
of it. So I think everyone else is speculated without
really even asking him. Never they should ask him. Why
don't you ask him? How's that for? A novel idea.

Speaker 1 (20:38):
Right, I tell you to tell me he's your new
uber driver. I thought that was gonna just.

Speaker 4 (20:44):
How he longs don't ever take that jobs, and how
he longs he lives for that. By the way, by
the way, recently I raised his huber wading up to
four ze point one stars, whoa too for while he
was down the two ful, while he was getting lippy.
I didn't like it. I like my uber driver set

(21:06):
back to me and get lippy. You know het he
felt a spectacular job of driving me around? Lately?

Speaker 1 (21:15):
Has he been suspectacle the swim move that he'd patted
in nineteen eighty five and driving me around?

Speaker 3 (21:20):
The two greatest things?

Speaker 4 (21:21):
And hell, I mean let me tell you, let me
tell you that again. The Howie longman, you gotta see this.
You know this square dude, how we badest soob you
ever played? You know that position? Right? And Briddy one
of the nastiest humans who've ever played football, like he's
a bad soob. Or my son he's like eight or
nine years old. And Sammy says, Daddy, I got to

(21:43):
do a book report. I'm not gonna say what the
player is and I gotta do a book report such
and such. I said, well, why don't you call uncle Holley.
Uncle Howie probably knows him. You could call Clowe. And
my eight year old son called uncle Howe. Uncle Howie,
I got to do a book report. It's such a
sun and how He goes, yeah, that wrap bastard got

(22:04):
me in this game. My knees smack. I'm like, kill this.
I was like, whoa, whoa, whoa. Sammy is like, oh
my god. I'm like, Sammy, that's not part of the
book report. And I'm like, dude, you have the fun
with Sammy. Yeah, well, Sammy has to know what kind
of guys doing the book report on rap bastard cut

(22:24):
my knees out in this game. We can kill this. Dude,
I got me. I'm like, Sammy, then you should do
a book report on the real Howe long.

Speaker 3 (22:35):
Daddy, what's a chop block? Can you explain that?

Speaker 4 (22:38):
What is that? I'm like, bro, you're talking to an
eight year old, but old that old Howie. He clicks over,
he looks over. You do not want to be in
the crosschairs and hence the two point two rating. At first,
that's it.

Speaker 1 (22:54):
I'm going to a card show and I'm going to
ask for the inscription of nippy.

Speaker 4 (23:01):
All right.

Speaker 3 (23:01):
Well, hey, Jay, let's get to the coaching carousel.

Speaker 1 (23:03):
A couple of big stories obviously the Cowboys opening. Dion
Sanders has mentioned, Jason Witten has mentioned what's happening in Dallas.

Speaker 4 (23:12):
That's not really what's going on right now. They're just
kind of kind of going through They've got I'm kind
of opening the deck here a little bit. But they
have a couple of different ways they want to go.
You know, Dion and Jerry are really really really close,
like is like a second son. It like he loves Dion.

(23:33):
But I'm I don't see what happening, you know, I
think you know, they love Jason Witten do. But this
isn't the thing of like, hey, let's just hire something
that we love. Like, it's just it's just not what
they're going to do. So because they got Robert Salah
coming in here soon, they're bringing killing more in. But
I think they're sitting there going, Okay, what are we
really going to do here? Because they have a couple

(23:55):
of different ways to go. I know they actually they
like their offensive that they love. That's who Michael Carthey
and Brian shot Hummer do with dak Now, we'll be
surprised if they can't fight in there. But I think
right now too, there's kind of like, okay, which way
we're going to go to? And then we I think,
I think, I think it's early for them.

Speaker 1 (24:16):
And then we got the fun and exciting, always swirling
world of Bill Belichie too.

Speaker 4 (24:22):
They missed the window of talking to like Jonathan Aaron Glenn.
Eric Glenn was there, all right, and Eric Glenn is
a phenomenal choice. If we want to keep your offite
your staff and you want to get a guy, all right,
we already know this guy and the phenomenal coach and
motivator of defense Ghosts, that's a great choice. But they

(24:42):
missed their window. They can't talk to him now, you know,
I think until what an't I talking about? I think
is it the part week for them? If they make
it over the Super Bowl? I don't remember that. There's
so many rules that change, but I don't remember. But
they can't do it now.

Speaker 1 (24:55):
The Jets are going to get Aaron Blenja right, we're
putting out of the Jets are going to get out
the guy on this the Dungeons and Dragon died there, A.

Speaker 4 (25:01):
Couple of teams are going to like Aaron Glenn Hope.
He's just suggested. I'm saying, if I'm Dallas, I'm like, man,
we know him. If we like our offensive staff, great,
gotta go after how much? Saying that's where they're going
to go. I know they don't know where they're going
right now.

Speaker 1 (25:16):
Jake Lazer with us here on Fox Sports Radio. You
want to check out Unbreakable, a mental wealth podcast. And
I know a great guest this week, a very difficult
guest you had.

Speaker 3 (25:25):
Jayu had Body by Jake Jake.

Speaker 1 (25:27):
Steinfeld On and unfortunately he lost everything in the fires.

Speaker 3 (25:32):
What was that conversation?

Speaker 2 (25:33):
Like with him everything?

Speaker 4 (25:35):
He has to be sure on his back literally, that's it.
And I want to say something here because people have
commented about rich people losing their homes. That is such
a higgler's statement. The rich people lost their homes became
rich and got there because they worked their freaking asses
off more than ever anybody you could ever mess. They've

(25:58):
got knocked down more anybody else, They've got rejected more
than anybody else, and they didn't stop. So it's such
a garbage thing for people to go Oh, it's a
bunch of rich people. That is such a horrible thing
today and when tragedy strikes everywhere else, people don't go, oh,
it's a bunch of poor people. It's a bunch of
middle class people. We don't do that. Not the right
thing as Americans. You've come together. So that's garbage. So

(26:22):
here's Jake Donzell, who Yeah, he's lived in my house
for forty years and he literally has the closed off
his back. And the guys I showed a clip today's
with the clip tomorrow is the one you're gonna want
to see because he talks and he looks tied by
Jake is that he's the first infomercial guy for Waite

(26:44):
in America. He was the first personal trainer ever in Hollywood.
He was a loofert where he knows body double on
the Incredible Hope, It's good, the legend right, and he
starts calling on podcasts and the reason why that's how
somebody make a remark today too about all possessions for
the week. Shut up. He said, Man, I'm like that

(27:09):
crazy dad. I saved every single thing for my kids
ever that I got anything I ever did in school.
And he never saved them all and then he just
started crying because it's all gone. And he said, and
I try to like you my finuon where I funk
someone up, but the memories never gone. Like Jay, I
love you, but you're not. You're not there, Like you're

(27:31):
not You're not going through it. It's it's gone. And
he is like, he's strong. He's one of the strongest
people I know. So he has ever right to crogs
the only question in his manhood. And he's a really
close friend of mine. But he's right. I'm out there.
I mean, I just had to evacuated. He lost everything,
right down to everything beside literally the clothes that he

(27:54):
has on his back. And I'm wanting to do this
podcasts is him because I want to understand people, understand
the pain that the rest of us are in because
we need you right now. We need our teammates, and
our teammates are the rest of America. And God, I
was down there and ground zero for nine to eleven
and oh my god, the kindness and everyone becoming teammates together,

(28:22):
it was. It lifted us all up. We all need it.
Katrina hard Day, Harvey, we all became teammates and I
hope I listening to podcasts if you're understand how much
we all need you as our teammates to get through.
This ain't going to be easy. Like again, there's there's
a Lars like most of my talent is gone and

(28:45):
we love you and it's it's it's it's hard to see.
It's it's hard to see people work their whole lives
for something and it's all gone, and like it's not
it's not just not. It is those memories with kids
and grandkids. Some things you just can't get back. So
we need our teammates now more than ever. So please

(29:06):
listen this week to our podcast with me and Jays

Speaker 4 (29:44):
Appreciate, love you us.

Speaker 3 (29:46):
Great stuff from Jay Glazer. I mean you had everything
in that.

Speaker 1 (29:49):
He talked about what everything has been happening to him
this last week, the Howie Long book reports story. Try
to figure out who that was? What offensive lineman is
he talk about that? Uh, you're really you're doing It's
got to be an offensive lineman, right, you're doing a
book report and offensive lineman?

Speaker 4 (30:06):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (30:06):
Really, Okay, our offensive lineman took out how we long
Anthony Munnos.

Speaker 3 (30:13):
Let's I don't know.

Speaker 1 (30:15):
I'm just saying, just saying, just saying, just saying, let's
see rival to the raise someone from the Denver schemes,
Mark Schleres, that's who that is all, just saying, just saying,
just saying, you know who it wasn't it was Monte Bolanos.
She didn't sweep the leg. She's got what's trending right
now in the wide world of sports. She would never

(30:35):
do that to anybody who didn't do it to her first.

Speaker 5 (30:38):
That's exactly right. How were gonna end that sentence exactly
like that? That's correct.

Speaker 1 (30:43):
Could you strike me as someone that you don't start anything,
but you finish it.

Speaker 3 (30:47):
If you don't start nothing nothing right?

Speaker 5 (30:50):
No, yeah, don't sorry. We're good and we're good.

Speaker 6 (30:53):
A fella is the final game in college hoops just
wrapped up. We actually had three games. They were all upsets,
so Minnesota beating a twenty Michigan eighty four eighty one,
and overtime Temple defeated number eighteen Memphis eighty eight to
eighty one. And right now, Oregon State just topped number
sixteen Gonzaga ninety seven eighty nine in overtime. Five games
in the NBA, Clippers roll past past the Blazers went

(31:16):
eighteen to eighty nine. The Suns beat the Wizards one
thirty to one twenty three. The King snapped the Rockets
five game winning streak with the one thirty two to
one twenty seven win where Demonte Sebonis had twenty points,
fourteen rebounds, and seven assists. And in a battle between
the top two teams in the NBA, it was the
thunder who crashed the who crushed the Cavaliers.

Speaker 5 (31:36):
One thirty four to one fourteen.

Speaker 6 (31:38):
Say Gildis Alexander dropped forty points and eight assists. Cleveland
had twenty one turnovers and the loss compared to Oksees
six turnovers on the ice. The Capital's edge of centers
one zero in overtime thanks to Alex Soovechkin, who was
now twenty one goals away from breaking Wayne Gretzky's all
time goal record of.

Speaker 5 (31:56):
Eight hundred and ninety four.

Speaker 6 (31:58):
Getting ready for the NFL this weekend, Ravens wide receivers
A Flowers missed practice, his fifth straight practice.

Speaker 5 (32:04):
That he has missed.

Speaker 6 (32:05):
His status for Sunday's game in Buffalo is in doubt.
Texans running back Joe Mixon, dealing with an ankle injury,
did not practice on Thursday. He's questionable for Saturday's game
against the Chiefs. Lion's running back David Montgomery Commander's linebacker
Bobby Wagner off the injury report. They're both good to
go for Saturday night in Detroit. And a report that
Texas quarterback Quinn Yours turned down an eight million dollar

(32:29):
nil offer to transfer to another school to play his
final season of NCAA eligibility idiot, It sounds like it right.
The school that made the offer is not mentioned in
any of the reports about this Syracuse.

Speaker 1 (32:46):
Is it Bob home, listen to the whole show?

Speaker 5 (32:52):
Because he drove drunk? What was it? What do we say?

Speaker 4 (32:55):
No?

Speaker 3 (32:55):
Whatscalated quickly?

Speaker 4 (33:00):
No?

Speaker 2 (33:00):
No?

Speaker 4 (33:00):
What was it?

Speaker 6 (33:01):
That the verb that Harmon used, that was incorrect? The
drove really run all of that run?

Speaker 5 (33:10):
That wasn't it.

Speaker 1 (33:11):
That's Northwestern education, that's not That wasn't the word he
said run. He's made a lot of grammatical mistakes tonight.
That's just one of them. I know, but that is
categorically incorrect.

Speaker 3 (33:22):
You made a lot, you mede a lot. I don't
think an excellence of execution, and I have notes. There's
a mistake right there. I have no for you. After
I doubled up, I mean a mistake. Mistake.

Speaker 1 (33:35):
You said you said run over, said they're gonna come
from my ass? He said, yes, no, they come for
your head. No, no, yes, that's that's the saying. That's
the saying saying.

Speaker 3 (33:48):
Who said me? Thank you? What they say it doesn't
matter to me.

Speaker 1 (33:53):
By the way, it was the Seattle Seahawks that injured
Howie Long. Might have been the turf, but otherwise it's
uh Brill's feesl heck Lee Maddis Millard, Toffelmeyer or Wheat
from the nineteen ninety Sea Who's he doing.

Speaker 3 (34:07):
A book report on the offensive Lineman of the nineteen
ninety Sex.

Speaker 1 (34:10):
Might have been writing about Andy Heck exit ut yifs
Exus swellendom. The Jason Smith Show with my best friend
Bob Hope.

Speaker 3 (34:20):
Coming up next.

Speaker 1 (34:21):
It's time for me to wave farewell to a superstar
two years in the making.

Speaker 3 (34:25):
That's next, Jason to Mike Fox.

Speaker 2 (34:29):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven

Speaker 1 (34:38):
Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with My best
Friend Mike Harmon and after today, what have been getting
ready for for the last couple of years, I'm ready
to do it?

Speaker 4 (34:51):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (34:52):
Today the Mets re signed Jesse Winker, part of their
big playoff run.

Speaker 3 (34:57):
Gotta have a villain.

Speaker 1 (34:58):
As report come out of New York Andy Martinez a
couple of reports from SNY that the Mets are moving
on from Pee Alonzo. They no longer expect him to
sign with the team, and the biggest free agent left
in the market is now expected to eventually go somewhere else.

Speaker 3 (35:15):
So the latest report was that they offered him three years.

Speaker 2 (35:17):
Is that right?

Speaker 4 (35:18):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (35:18):
Originally it was what six he turned down?

Speaker 1 (35:21):
Supposedly he turned down seven years and one fifty eight.
Last year he didn't get the didn't get the contract
he wanted.

Speaker 3 (35:29):
In free agency.

Speaker 1 (35:30):
This year, you saw the value of first basement around
the league, and the Mets are not just going to
give the guy a lot of money just because so
they were looking at a band aid type contract where
it'd be like a three year, ninety ish million dollar
type deal where there were outs after every year, where
he can hit free agency again. But apparently the negotiations
aren't going well and now the Mets expect him to

(35:52):
go someplace else.

Speaker 3 (35:54):
I'll tell you two things.

Speaker 1 (35:55):
One, this will be solved one way or another in
the next twenty four to thirty six hours. Because the
Mets signing Jesse Winker today, they're ready to move on.

Speaker 3 (36:05):
This was the peat.

Speaker 1 (36:06):
It's now or never. You're taking this off, or you're
coming back this year, or we're moving on. We're not
gonna get stuck. We're gonna go get Alex Bregman. We're
gonna go do something else. But we signed Anthony Santander,
whatever it is, but we're moving over, or that they
might go and try to acquire junior. Unbelievable, right, so
we're moving on. This is like, this is your last chance.
So if he's gonna be a Met, he's gonna sign

(36:26):
the next day or so. But it doesn't look like
that's gonna happen. Scott Bores is likely going to keep
him out till the beginning of spring training. He'll sign
someplace for one year in like twenty some odd million
and try to hit free agency again. Now you say, Jason,
how do you feel about this? Honestly, I'm fine, And
I say this after he hit the biggest home run
in Mets history, a home run I watch at least
a couple of times a week. I listened to the

(36:47):
ninth inning of the game against the Brewers last night
driving in which side?

Speaker 3 (36:53):
Did you listen to? The national broadcasts? How he rose?
And how about that? The last game Bobby Coad did
was don't no stop stop stop all of you guys.
You're all going to hell. Man, you're all going out.
You're going to hell. Frostburg's going hell, Ty Shirt's going out.
You're all going to hell. I mean, you had a
hell of a run. Ninety's a hell of a run. Yeah,

(37:14):
but going down show did Pete Alonso. It hasn't met
and I I was ready.

Speaker 1 (37:19):
I've been ready for him to go since he hired
Scott Boris as his agent. As soon as that happened,
I said, he's gone.

Speaker 3 (37:24):
You really don't like Scott. He's not good.

Speaker 1 (37:26):
No, no, but I know Scott Boris's act. Hey, we
take you to free agency, we get the best deal
we can, and generally it works, but sometimes it does.

Speaker 3 (37:33):
For the last couple of years, it's you've.

Speaker 1 (37:35):
Seen the Yeah, Steam teams are starting to figure out
a way to combat what Scott Boris does by pitting
teams against each other, using teams as leverage. They're they're
they're they're hip to his act now. But sometimes when
you have a great player, it doesn't matter. Right, you
can have Juan Soto and it doesn't matter, that doesn't
matter what you say. He's gonna get that money. But
sometimes some players don't. And Alonzo's not getting it.

Speaker 3 (37:58):
I can.

Speaker 1 (37:58):
I'm not sitting here and blaming Scott Boris because in
the end, you're you're a player, and you're beholden for
your what you want to do. He's not, you know,
Scott Boris is not some Svengali who was showing up
like Coriander and the commercial. Oh dad, we have h
we have freed our food from fees. Dad, we don't
do this anymore. Like, he's not that kind of guy.
He's not some guru showing up saying this is what

(38:18):
you need to do. Take your shoes off, meditate with me. No,
Pete Alonzo makes his own decisions. But I knew he
was gonna go when Boris and I'm okay, when I
thought there is no way he's going to leave, and
after get that home run, I said, give him.

Speaker 7 (38:33):
A hundred million dollars for that I want. I don't care.
Give it to him. Give it to him, give it
to him. This is amazing. But in the end, if
that's his legacy, it's a great legacy. But when you
misplay things and you miss you know, decisions have have consequences,
and when you look back to last year, probably should
have taken that seven year hundred and fifty eight million,
Just like Ben Johnson would say, hey, maybe last year

(38:55):
when when teams wanted me, I should have gone because
I could have been the head coach of the Falcons
or the Argers or the Commanders or the Seahawks. Instead,
I'm probably going to the Raiders or the Bears. All
the openings this year suck. Oh man, I wish I
can go back to last year. Hey, when you're there,
when when when when someone wants to give you something,
when they're ready for that's when you got a jump.
You got to jump if you're an NFL coach, when

(39:16):
they say you're the hottest guy. And now instead, now
he's got to fall behind Rabel and McCarthy and Pete Alonzo.

Speaker 3 (39:22):
Seven years, one hundred and fifty eight million.

Speaker 1 (39:23):
Yeah, probably should have taken that next year because he
hits free agency this year. It's almost like, well, we
don't want that year to count. We still want all this,
We still want like six one hundred and ninety four million.
You had a bad year last year, he doesn't just go. Well,
he still hit two doesn't go which was twenty three
points higher than the year before, still had thirty four
home runs, eighty eight RBI and thirty one doubles, and
he hit the biggest home run. As you say, okay,

(39:46):
your organizations just three years I'll give him thirty million
dollars a year, I'm not going to give him six
years and two hundred millions. Well, and that's where we're
wondering if the seven for one fifty eight was legit
at right, we look at the AAV right A for
first basement, uh Olsen at twenty one million dollars for Atlanta,
Harper at twenty five to three, Bryant at twenty six,

(40:09):
Freddie Freeman at twenty seven that was for the video audience,
and then Vlad Crew at twenty eight to five. So
the AAV is on that would place him fifth or sixth.
He wants, he wants more than Olsen. Money, you want,
you want, you want more than Harper, you want more
than lad Gune, you want, well, you want. It doesn't
it's that doesn't mean you're trying. Yeah, you're trying, but

(40:30):
it doesn't mean when you have a down year you
can just erase it. I haven't again, I don't, but
I think what it comes down to is, uh, the
words from Kendrick and everybody in Arizona reverberate with Jordan
Montgomery's deal.

Speaker 3 (40:44):
This is the worst deal with on his hands. I said,
what is just a bit outside and ready for this
goodbye farewell PI to Lonzo, thank you for that home run.
