Hey, it's funny.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
Tell you know Ty Shirt's new favorite drop. HEYI Jerry Jones.
You know it's his way is terrible.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
Look, I'm gonna do things my way, and my way
is terrible.
Speaker 1 (01:13):
Hey, you know, honestly, I thought of That's the first
thing I thought of today when I saw that report
from Clarence Hill Cowboys Insider that said that Brian Schottenheimer
is set to be named Dallas Cowboys head coach by Friday,
maybe sometime this week. And now we have to wait
and see is this going to get picked up mores
as a thing. But here is this report out in Dallas.
(01:35):
Then Brian Schottenheimer is going to be the head coach,
and they all like, come, is that ai? Jerry Jones?
It's my way, but my way is blake and terrible.
I thought about that for like an hour going. That
could have been the real Jerry Jones if he has
this press conference. Yeah, Brian Schottenneimer, it's my way and
my way is blake and terrible.
Speaker 5 (01:54):
And abut sums it up bright it's the Could it work? Sure?
Does it look good on the surface? Hell no, when
you're already a laughing stock. Uh. And people have questioned
every direction. We've named almost every former Dallas Cowboy that
had any tenure with the squad. Hey, can he coach there? Yeah?
(02:14):
He was coaching the junior league over there? What was
he doing? He signed some autographs that he threw some
footballs out to the crowd. Okay, give him a give
him an interview. I mean it is uh yeah, it's
just the the idea that you're you're in this big
chase top notch talent coordinators or recycling guys that have
(02:35):
won at the highest level. And then they do they
think they're getting his dad.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
I you know, I have to sit here and say,
how does a guy that nobody else wanted to interview
become the front runner and maybe.
Speaker 4 (02:56):
The next head coach of the Cowboys.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
Like, he hasn't talked to anybody, No nobody else has
wanted to talk to him. Yet this is the guy
that Jerry Jones is gonna This is so disheartening if
this happens, if this is indeed the way it's going.
And look, we've heard there have been two people all week, right,
the only two names we heard have been Brian Schottenheimer
and we've heard Kellen Moore. These are the only two
names we were neither of that. In fact, Kellen Moore
(03:19):
might even be more depressing than Brian Shott and Herry
because Kellen Moore was a guy who was there. They sun,
we don't like you anymore. We're letting you go, he leaves. Now, oh,
now we want to bring you back and give you
a promotion. It's like failing upward. I don't understand how
that happened. I'm a a filh the cowboy. I really
like being in Dallas. Maybe somebody'll bring you back as
a head coach. That's not gonna happen. It's Dallas. You
(03:41):
never know, so either of these names. It's so disheartening
that this is what's going to happen.
Speaker 4 (03:47):
Neither of that, and in fact, even to take it
out to coach.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
Neither of them have been talked to by anybody else,
not even the Jets who were so desperate for candidates
before they realize, oh, Aaron Glens's it's his dream job. Okay, great,
Even the Bears who are talking to Mike McCarthy before
Ben Jonson said, hey, I gotta go the Jaguars. Not
none of these other teams, the Raiders, none of these
other teams. No, no, no, But this is where Jerry Jones
(04:10):
is gonna go to someone nobody is interested in, just
because he wants someone that he can control, even more
so than he can control Mike McCarthy. Because now it
sort of looks like this, right when you think about
this from a different angle, and here's your new fresh
take on the Cowboys head coaching situation. Did Mike McCarthy
get fired? Not because well he's wind up? You know
(04:33):
he didn't achieve this year?
Speaker 4 (04:35):
Right?
Speaker 1 (04:35):
He had all the twelve three twelve win seasons in
a row. But now he was a bad year. Obviously,
Dak got hurt injury. You lose your quarterback, what are
you gonna do? Really, what do you expect a team
to do when they lose their quarterback? I give them
all kinds of credit for not quitting on Mike McCarthy.
They hung in there with Mike McCarthy. Cooper Rush is
able to win a couple of games. I mean, the
Cowboys did not quit, which shows you the loyalty they
had toward Mike McCarthy. And now I want to say, this,
(04:58):
was that loyalty to my much? Did Mike McCarthy have
too big of a voice in the Cowboys organization with
the players? And Jerry Jones saw and said, no, that
voice is too big. I need someone else with less
of a voice, because not that, not that suddenly I'm
not making all the decisions. But Mike McCarthy has a lot.
He's got the players have his back, and now I
need somebody else in there who the players don't have
(05:21):
his back as much, that is not as big of
a voice, and that's why he fired Mike McCarthy. That
is a hot, hot take. It's as hot as a
temperature in this studio, which is a balming ninety five
degrees because the air conditioning has been out for like
four days. We've ordered a part I think from somewhere
in Amarillo, Texas, and we're waiting for it to be delivered.
It's like bleep in midnight run to try to get
this part in here. But that's how hot this take is.
(05:44):
That maybe Mike McCarthy had too big of a voice
and too much respect in the organization and that's why
he got fired.
Speaker 5 (05:51):
Well, I mean they fixed the glitch. Did he really
get fired or did they let the contract run out?
But I go even hotter. What if they realized that McCarthy,
because he was at a standstill with the Cowboys, Schottenheimer
was actually running it when the backups played well down
(06:11):
the stretch and he said, that's our guy. The coordinator
is the guy we elevate how about that. See, No,
while he's got a strong voice externally, he's got the
faith of the guys in the room. And and I
don't have to pay him Ben Johnson money. I don't
(06:34):
have to go over the top because he's already here,
and where the hell else is he gonna go? How
about that?
Speaker 4 (06:41):
I don't have to pay anybody any money. If I
do want to. It's Dallas Cowboys head coaching job. They'll
come from all over to come in here to do it.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
I could just pay him in cowboy bucks, just money
that can be spent in the greater Dallas Fort Worth area.
Don't go outside the city limits. That money's no good.
Steven's on the fifty dollars bill, had to put Dak
on one hundred and take Tony off. But then, because
you know, it's kind of stock down on Tony Romel
right now, so we replaced it with Dak there a
little bit, get some cowboy legends on the five hundred
thousand dollars bill. But yeah, you can spend all your stuff,
(07:08):
just go anywhere you want to, just within the city limits.
If if I had heard, I would say this, If
we had heard the Cowboys and the players had there
was a bit of a mutiny, or there was a
bit of we're following Shoddy, but we're not following McCarthy.
I think it would be different. But you saw when
(07:29):
McCarthy got let go that Dak Prescott was upset, Micaeh
Parsons was upset. I mean that's something when you get
the leader of the offense leader of defense to both say, yeah,
we're upset we lost the head coach. Right, We're upset
we lost them. So, I mean that's a big thing
that tells me why is Jerry Jones making making this change? Okay,
it's a big name coming. Well, he flirted with Dion Sanders.
That obviously isn't happening. So now we're gonna go even worse.
(07:52):
And really, I mean, you think, but it's Jerry Jones.
I really wonder did Mike McCarthy have too big a voice?
Did you have too much respect from the play and
Jerry Jones wanted to change that because that is something
completely in Jerry Jones's wheelhouse. Can you remember gonna do
things his way, but his way is blank and terrible.
I mean, just think about it like that and go, Okay,
if there was such a thing where the coaches.
Speaker 4 (08:13):
They didn't listen to it.
Speaker 1 (08:14):
Then McCarthy would have been pushed out right away and
Schottenheimer would have been elevated right They would have had
an interview, they would have satisfied the Rooney rule, which
a lot of teams do, which that's got to be
examined the way that happens. But you know, they would
have had the Rooney rule, would have satisfied, and they
would have elevated Brian Schottenheimer right away. But instead we're
gonna wait, we're gonna let the contract laps, we're gonna
flirt with the one, We're gonna talk with other people,
and now, oh here we go. We're gonna go with
(08:35):
Brian Schottenheimer. Like Jerry Jones let time run out, he
let timer Where were all the people that he supposedly
Where are all the big names that he was gonna
be talking to to interview right? Where was Where was
Ben Johnson? Where are all of these guys that he
should have been talking to, these that he wants to
bring on? Where was Mike vrabel in that right all?
Even though he went to the Patriots, But he's not
gonna take an interview with the Cowboys bet maybe the
(08:57):
Cowboys head coach, like, where's all of this first and
so interviews with these people instead, it's just we're just
sitting back and now I'm gonna name my guy.
Speaker 4 (09:04):
I'm telling you, man.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
The more the more I think about it, the more
I think Mike McCarthy just had too big a voice
and it's insane that that's how big businesses runs.
Speaker 4 (09:12):
But again, Cowboys Comma Dallas. So there's that.
Speaker 5 (09:14):
Well, yeah, it comes down to how much you believe
the little bits and pieces of reporting, whether it's Clarence Hill,
Jane Slater, all of our insiders with different pid bits
along the way regarding the relationship between McCarthy and Jones,
and that they never actually got to that you know,
eleventh hour conversation that everybody by that point did the
(09:38):
Vegas blackjack dealer, I'm done for the night, you know,
nothing up my sleeve, I'm gone kind of situation or
Mike McCarthy. You know, as we go down theories as
to how this really broke apart is that Jerry Jones
assumed it was gonna get done, which is why there
was no great movement that at the eleventh hour was
(10:00):
going to be all right, what do you need, Let's
do it. And then McCarthy tried to push for whatever
he could get out of it. It's like, all right,
I'm kind of done here, but let's make a list
of demands. And one of those that was proffered was
he wanted assurances for all of the assistance because they're
the collateral damage, right, and they're families and a lot
(10:21):
of these circumstances, especially now, what have we got seven
straight years of one in at least one one and
done coach. Let's try to say that five times fast
one and done coaches. Every year we're getting somebody fired after,
you know, a cup of coffee because someone decides to
turn the page and go in a different direction. So yeah,
(10:43):
it's it's what do you believe? And Jerry's given us
no reason but to believe the worst, because at the
base of it all, he held out long enough with
the McCarthy thing that he never had a chance to
even talk to the guys from Detroit. Whether they would
have shown up for an interview, a cursory conversation at
(11:04):
a seventy two ounce porterhouse or not, I don't know,
but they never even got to that part of the
how do you dos? And the grand pageantry of coming
to see Jerry World with their name and lights and
all that stuff like he would have done in Blue
Chips to announce the guy, hey listen to World would
sound like if you came here and we introduced you.
So yeah, it's it's just that curiosity in Jerry Be
(11:28):
and Jerry Meanwhile, Mike McCarthy, it's consolation prizing gonna end
up in New Orleans.
Speaker 1 (11:33):
I mean, yeah, dude, I mean that's the thing is that,
you know, in the beginning part of this is Okay,
McCarthy's gonna get out and he's gonna get a decent gig. Right,
he's gonna get a decent gig. And okay, well, all right,
the Jets swell.
Speaker 4 (11:47):
It's not gonna happen. Aaron Rodgers had kind of been
there and done that.
Speaker 5 (11:50):
All right.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
Yeah they got along well okay in the beginning, but
then not so much at the end. Okay, well, we'll
move on somewhere else.
Speaker 4 (11:55):
Now. It's like the Saints or the Jaguars or the Raiders.
Speaker 5 (12:01):
Well, like Jaguars are done.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
Liam Cohen is leaving Oasis to uh go be the
potentially be the head coach of the Jaguars.
Speaker 4 (12:11):
No, I mean, like, what did I tell you yesterday?
I mean, I mean said he was gonna go back.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
He was a great he was he was a great
half directing team with his brother.
Speaker 4 (12:19):
You know, he got Fargo.
Speaker 1 (12:20):
He had a lot of great mood. Now he's gonna
go be the coach of the Jaguars. So now it's
like McCarthy, who you thought was gonna be a big
winner in all of this, because okay, now he gets
out and and everybody knows what kind of great coach
he is, and the CEO head coach is really in
vogue now. Instead it's like, dude, if you're gonna stay
in the league, it's like barely in the league, like
like the bottom of the barrel for teams.
Speaker 4 (12:41):
Like I got to think at some point, you know,
you know.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
McCarthy, he would be he would be a great choice
with the Raiders, like he you know, sometimes you need
a let's just get to the bottom of the barrel
and stop the decline and and try to build back
up and stop the backsliding. And the Raiders did that before, right,
They've done that before. Now McCarthy would be a god.
(13:05):
He would be a good I don't know why it
hasn't happened yet.
Speaker 4 (13:07):
Brandon Staley's the perfect thing.
Speaker 1 (13:09):
Well, I know they'll go for it on fourth down.
That'll happen, But like he like like that, I think
that's the fit, Like.
Speaker 4 (13:15):
Really you want to go to New Ors now. I
think the.
Speaker 1 (13:17):
Raiders might be the McCarthy fit where it's like, Okay,
I'm going for all of it. Either I can turn
this franchise around and suddenly bring it back to glory,
or I'm just gonna be out of the NFL after this,
Like I'm really gonna go win into war. So I mean,
I feel like that's like the only place for him
left to go. And it's like is that winning or
is that just grabbing straws At the end, there are
no winners in this cowboy situation. There are no winners.
(13:39):
There are no winners here. The players don't win, the
fans don't win. Whoever they name his coach doesn't win
because he's gonna be terrible, and the coach who left
doesn't win. Nobody wait, there are no way. It's like
Nick mackay, there are no winners here.
Speaker 5 (13:51):
Shot and Iron waits. By the way, Nick Thekai getting
ready to celebrate an AFC title game. I reached out
to him and just said, hey, buddy, you're back. What
the uh for Schottenheimer, I'm maybe be the first time
head coach. He gets to put that on the resume
after what being an offensive coordinator for multiple teams for
fourteen years. I'd say that's a win for him. He
(14:13):
finally got over to the top of the mountain and
then he can tumble down by one the team fails miserably.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
Exit, how about a fresca exit swalling down The Jason
Smith Show with Mike Carmon Live the Tireck Dotcom students
just think about that. Did Mike McCarthy get leto because
he had too big a voice and too much respect
with the Cowboys? You're shaking your head going, yeah, no,
I could totally completely see that.
Speaker 4 (14:35):
Jameson's going to.
Speaker 3 (14:36):
Do things my way, and my way is terrible.
Speaker 1 (14:39):
You know, you play that and it sounds a little
bit like Wilford Brimley. I'm Wilford Brimley. I'm gonna tak
the beginning of it sounds like wild Brimley.
Speaker 3 (14:45):
Yeah, I'm going to do things my way about beat it?
Speaker 5 (14:49):
You think maybe they took from a little Wilfrid Brimley
to mayage to that voice.
Speaker 4 (14:54):
Oh see, you know more about AI creating AI voices
than me, so I.
Speaker 5 (14:57):
Bet I'm working on it. That could have got a
whole lot the world that we're opening up here.
Speaker 1 (15:02):
Exit out about a Fresca exit swollen dome. Coming up next,
we got big news out of the NBA, and what
playoff team in the NFL seems to be ready to
move on from its starting quarterback. Oh what a call
back to the show last night. Song is still going,

speaking of having the right team on the court, it's
not often that a team has, you know, an All
Star starter in the NBA All Star Game vibes. You
can pretty you guys like Lebron take up all the idea.
But when you have two starters on the All Star team, hell,
(17:11):
Jalen Brunson, Big Bodega starting for the Eastern Conference in
the All Star Game. The Knicks have two fifths of
all the starters, Mike Harmon two fifth.
Speaker 4 (17:21):
They if they wanted to, they could really have all
of them.
Speaker 1 (17:23):
But I, you know, it's nice to have other guys play,
And I understand there's other players who, you know, they
kind of call stars in the Eastern Conference. You gotta
have Giannis a little bit. Yeah, sure, I guess why not.
But it's it's it's kind of nice that the Nicks
allow other teams to have a couple of players on
this first team stuff.
Speaker 5 (17:38):
The ballot box, that's nice. All Star voting is going
back to going back to all those years ago. I
remember going to Komiskey Park and then say how many
of the ballots would you give me for the All
Star game and they look at you like you're crazy,
Like you are you actually gonna fill them out? It's like,
damn right, I am. And away we went. And you know,
(18:00):
Jerry Dibzinski and some of those legends of the early
eighties got an inordinate number of votes when the Harmon
Boys were in the Sea. It's the same thing here,
Big Bodega. I mean, you write a nice algorithm and
you get some bots to vote for you, and all
of a sudden, hey, hey, hey, these.
Speaker 1 (18:17):
Are all real life nick fans that are voting. They're
very up, they were very ready for a championship. Love
Big Bodega, and I put him in the starting lineup.
That's what No bots are happening over fraud. Not have
stop now because I'll get it sounds like a hot take,
but it's not hanging chads. We talked about this, lad, Yeah,
because that's how people are punching out chads to vote
(18:38):
for the all time.
Speaker 4 (18:38):
Because it's nineteen ninety six, that's how we're doing it.
Speaker 5 (18:41):
Hey, hey, I can dream of a simpler time when
I was younger and it wasn't all electronic, Back.
Speaker 1 (18:48):
When writing you actually had to write the person's name
there like you had to write, I can't.
Speaker 5 (18:52):
I can't make out what this guy said. I think
it says Kermy is it.
Speaker 4 (18:55):
I'll be honest.
Speaker 1 (18:56):
We talked about this last night, coming off the fifty
four point night and and and seeing how he cuts
through more than anyone else.
Speaker 5 (19:05):
So far.
Speaker 1 (19:05):
We're forty five games into the NBA season, and I
don't think this is going to change, Shake Gil just
Alexander is gonna be the MVP, right. He's leading the
league in scoring, He's on the best team. Yes, the
Cavaliers are really good, but this is an entire offense
that is that is rolling the number one offense in
the in the NBA. Yeah, Donovan Mitchell is sort of
the head of the Snake, but boy, they're really deep.
(19:26):
They got a lot of offense there. And meanwhile, you
look at Oklahoma City, who is the same. They're missing
chet right, No, chet right. When you're this guy's a
number one overall picking the draft, thinking hey we got it,
we got an NBA Finals type team here, and you're
missing chet and still you're this good like Shake Gildes Alexander.
He's going to win the MVP and that's not going
(19:47):
to change.
Speaker 5 (19:48):
Yeah, I know, what's funny, Jason is there's one guy
that could could have made a run, but he's missed
too many games, only played twenty six on the year.
His team's sitting there in the the third slot in
the Western Conference, actually percentage points behind the number two squad.
That's John Morant, because it would have been the great
(20:08):
redemption story if suddenly Memphis changed you down. But he's
not gonna play the sixty five.
Speaker 1 (20:13):
He's not getting there, and all the other guys are, Okay,
can we give Jokic another MV paint?
Speaker 4 (20:18):
No, we're not gonna do that. Can we Embid is
not even on the floor, Like there's no other care.
Speaker 1 (20:23):
Honestly, the number two guy, and I'm telling you things,
the number two guy is big Bodega. Like if you're
doing an MVP ballot right now, it's Gilgus Alexander and
then it's Karl Anthony Towns like that. That's the impact
you can tell that he has had with the Knicks,
with it with his new role, Like that's where you go, Okay,
wait a minute, I can see where the impact of
(20:43):
him is great. And we like that in sports, Hey,
we take a guy from another team, put him on
a new team. You see how good his new team is.
And boy, you see how ordinary his old team looks
when he's when he's off there and he's come through
like he's had these huge games all season long. The
guy's an All Star starter if you're going MVP bout like.
And I don't know that that's gonna change. I don't
(21:03):
know that it's gonna go more. At the end of
the year, I go, hey, it's Gildas Alexander, and then
it's Big Bodega one too. And I'm telling you, you know,
I'm telling you truth because if I wasn't, I would
say Big Bodega's gone away and this guy Goot Gilds
the Madrold Club and city.
Speaker 4 (21:16):
Nobody knows where that is. No one's gonna vote him.
It's not gonna happen. It's Big Bodega.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
He's good to No, I'm telling you Sga number one,
Big Bodega number two.
Speaker 4 (21:24):
That's probably how it should end.
Speaker 1 (21:26):
I mean it may not, because you know, people don't
like the mix, which you know, come on, but but
Sga is gonna win, and I would have Big Bodega second.
Speaker 2 (21:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (21:34):
It's it's funny, man, because you start going down. Donovan
Mitchell once he had about twenty three and a half
a game, team doing well, but it's it's a great distribution.
They've got multiple guys that can step up on at
any point. We've seen them win big games in our
window where he's not been really much of a factor,
where his shooting has been off, and other guys, Garland
(21:56):
and the big guys have come up and played well.
You got boss. Everybody expects great things and you look
at the numbers, and certainly for Jason Tatum twenty seven,
what nine and five and a half or whatever, his
his stats are that you know, you can make the
argument for him. But does he suffer from a little
bit of what Nikola Jokic does, Right, He's won the
(22:20):
MVP a couple times and you know, get you quite obviously.
But for Jason Tatum, it's just the expectation, all right,
your team's gonna be great. That's what you do. Shrug,
move on, go go try to win another title. MVP's
not for you. So it's it's curious right to see
if we can find a dark horse to emerge. Houston's
(22:40):
got a lot of great weapons, but again, they neutralize
each other, because which guy are you picking out of
the pack? Right? It's good balance. And last I saw,
they don't give giant awards to offensive linemen in the
NFL for team MVP or defensive lines you know, the
Giants or whatever else we may have argued, or the
(23:00):
Ravens defensive front back in the day, Siragusa and Hellodi Nada,
that's not happening. Same thing with the NBA. You got
to pick a single guy, and Shay Giljess Alexander gets
the extra flowers for being a guy that paid his dues,
not only because he played for the Clippers, but because
he was coming off the bench for them.
Speaker 4 (23:19):
Hey look, and if you're the Clippers, because people forget
oh yeah, yeah, oh this guy?
Speaker 5 (23:23):
Where is eb of?
Speaker 4 (23:24):
Oh yeah the Clippers had him?
Speaker 5 (23:26):
Yeah? Oh you know who's keely aware of where he played? Yeah? Yeah,
who's that trading card collector?
Speaker 4 (23:32):
Right now?
Speaker 5 (23:33):
SGA rookies are on fire?
Speaker 4 (23:37):
Got that Clippers SGA rookie? Yeah what I yeah, we
don't really talk about that so much.
Speaker 1 (23:42):
I don't know there's any video evidence that he actually
played with the Clippers. I think that it's all been
wiped away. Any anything that's not at the Intuit Dome
has been wiped away.
Speaker 4 (23:50):
We don't have that anymore.
Speaker 5 (23:51):
I tell you they they're now bombarding me with advertising
to get people to come sit as part of the wall.
Speaker 4 (23:58):
Okay, it's a.
Speaker 5 (23:58):
Couple of home games, hundred and thirty bucks forget in.
Speaker 4 (24:01):
Oh, my cousin just went.
Speaker 1 (24:03):
I told you my cousin Sam, biggest Clipper fan in
the world, goes to Clipper games all the time.
Speaker 4 (24:07):
Never went cousin.
Speaker 5 (24:11):
Uh wow, that's a revelation.
Speaker 1 (24:13):
Yes, Monsey and I were late. We didn't tell anybody
were related. Uh, she's the biggest Clipper fan in the world.
She's been going to games for a long time. I
remember when she they Clippers had to design your own
T shirt contest when she first moved to LA and
she designed a T shirt with like stuff for Chris
Cayman on it because she Chris Cayman was her favorite player.
And I said, hey, here's what you do. Design a
T shirt and just draw an island and say it's
(24:34):
the Cayman Island.
Speaker 4 (24:36):
How cool you'll get on TV. You'll win. She goes, yeah, yeah, yeah.
She puts it on and I text her at the
end of the game. Did you get on TV?
Speaker 5 (24:43):
They show you? No?
Speaker 1 (24:44):
I said, why, She goes, well, we're too far up aga.
Where are you sitting? And she told me she's in
the next to last row of You gotta be closer
than that. How the hell are you gonna get noticed?
Speaker 4 (24:54):
No one's good. They don't even have lights up there.
Speaker 1 (24:57):
Like they showed. They put the up to the up
to the the top and they go, there's this. It's
just a bunch of dark screen like you get. It's
like you're watching a television show now streaming.
Speaker 4 (25:06):
Why is it so dark?
Speaker 1 (25:07):
Huh? It's the way to shoot things now, it's creative.
I go, you gotta you gotta find a camera or something.
You gotta make sure someone gets video of you. You
can't just be sitting in your seat. That's like one
row from the top of the arena. Come onest, Staples
is a big place, and that's a looking down on
the court from the very top.
Speaker 4 (25:23):
No one's gonna see you there.
Speaker 5 (25:25):
No, you gotta walk the perimeter and you got you
got some pretty good cause ways to get through there
that maybe maybe you can be seen. I think you
had legitimately walk right past the camera. Wells and a
couple of the spots. Don't yeah, yeah, yeah, no you
do it, sho, you gotta ham it up. You can't.
Speaker 1 (25:42):
This is how people And I said, look, this is
how people get discovered. Right, all of a sudden, Hey,
someone gets shown at a basketball game, whether it's someone's girlfriend,
someone's husband, and all of a sudden they are a
viral sensation. You don't just stand there and certainly they
don't sit two rows from the top. And then she's
getting mad going but.
Speaker 4 (25:57):
I didn't have enough money to buy it.
Speaker 2 (25:58):
I go.
Speaker 1 (25:59):
I'm just saying, if you want, first well, how much
money can it be to go to a Clippers game?
Come on, this is back like years ago, and again
Chris Cayman was their best player. I mean, how much
money could it really be? I mean, come on, that much?
Speaker 4 (26:08):
And she was like getting upset and I'm like, oh, okay.
Speaker 5 (26:10):
Now your wallet shavinger.
Speaker 4 (26:12):
No, I'm just I'm just saying, how we just wanted
to go to a.
Speaker 5 (26:15):
Game and have a nice night out. Yeah, probably, Hey,
cough up a buck, you cheat. You're always yell at
me that I'm an elitist like UK caught for money
and get down down low. So Chris Cayman.
Speaker 4 (26:28):
Dude, you could play.
Speaker 5 (26:29):
Caveman would see you.
Speaker 4 (26:30):
You could probably get into those games.
Speaker 1 (26:32):
I mean again, back when Chris Cayman was the best
player on the Clippers, you could probably get that seat
for five bucks.
Speaker 4 (26:38):
You could probably move up fifty rows for like ten. So,
I mean, really, what are you doing? I mean really,
this is when Donald Sterling owned the team.
Speaker 5 (26:45):
Come on, man, are we going back anybody where you're
trying to take me? Is this is about you when
he was an All Star? Yeah, this is about two thousand.
This is around two thousand and eight, two thousand nine,
the late oughts ate, the late arts average eighteen and
a half.
Speaker 4 (26:57):
Again, yeah, I'm saying that Cayman Island.
Speaker 5 (26:59):
You'd have been seven points more than his career average.
Speaker 4 (27:01):
They'd have given you a John data made you the
coach at that point. You'd be calling out plays well.
Speaker 5 (27:06):
And if it was a good design, you might become
a designer for the Clippers. You might displace Clipper Daryl.
We may have never seen the Vulture show up.
Speaker 1 (27:16):
I will say this that the design of the shirt. Uh,
if you saw it, you would say, did an adult
do that?
Speaker 4 (27:24):
Or did a kid do that?
Speaker 5 (27:25):
But still you just needed They didn't have racing strike
his nuclear You.
Speaker 1 (27:32):
Needed the visual of the Cayman Island and just have it,
like just have an island with something and then a
picture in the Clippers jersey on there or a red,
white and blue island says the Cayman Island. That's all
you needed. Really, you just needed the the idea. You
didn't need to draw it great. And luckily that was
the case because it was you know, it wasn't really
drawn that great.
Speaker 4 (27:50):
But h but I mean, look, you.
Speaker 1 (27:52):
Set up front. She could have a could have a
whole new career. She could have been working for the
Clippers and she coulda be the GM of the Clippers.
Buy Now, how'd you become the GM? I want to
teach contest and now general.
Speaker 5 (28:02):
Manager obviously chucked the condor. But hey, you got to
get in the door at a facility somewhere, right. You
got to start living the dream. You gotta be on
the grind and and and a well made T shirt.
Look back in the day, Canda and all these great tools,
all the AI tools that we talk about, they weren't accessible.
Being able to make your own Jerry Jones cuts. That
(28:24):
was a little hard at work. You had to become
a good impressionist and be able to sell, sell, sell. Now, hey,
now the door to entry is really it's cracked open
for you there. So maybe that that road to GM
is still there if she's you know, up ther T
shirt game and as you say, maybe you can afford
(28:44):
a little better a ticket to become part of the wall.
Speaker 1 (28:48):
Exit out by the Fresco exit swallowed up. So then
to bring the story full circle, she went and sat
at the wall. As she went to the wall, and
I said, why are you not going? She goes, it's
a lot of standing, and you know, she's in her
forties now, and I'm like, okay, she was, so it's
a lot of standing, and I really liked I need
to sit a little bit. So I'm like, oh, okay.
So it's a stamina thing, all right, great, great, great,
you know what I mean. But maybe that's the thing
(29:08):
for the wall.
Speaker 4 (29:08):
Hey, prove you have better stamina than every other fan.
You'll stand the entire time of the Wall of the
Glipper game.
Speaker 5 (29:15):
See not now you're shamed her that she's got no stamina.
Speaker 4 (29:18):
No, I'm just saying no.
Speaker 5 (29:18):
When you shot right, come on, this from This from
someone might be firing back and you want no, no, no,
this from a guy I readily admit, Hey, I'm in
my fifties.
Speaker 4 (29:28):
When I go to a rock concert, what do I want?
Speaker 1 (29:29):
I want to sit on the aisle and I want
to be able to be close to where I can
get food, or I can go to the bathroom, or
where I can buy merchant.
Speaker 5 (29:35):
Don't you just stand?
Speaker 4 (29:36):
That's what I want. I want, That's what I want.
Speaker 1 (29:38):
I'm not gonna be I'm gonna be in the pit
with everybody else going people's shoulders.
Speaker 5 (29:43):
Yeah, no, I want to be able to anybody's shoulders.
I want there's nothing wrong with being in the pit.
Speaker 1 (29:47):
I want to be able to be I want to
be able to be comfortable. I want to be I
gotta get to the bathroom. I'm gonna eat. I'm gonna
do that.
Speaker 4 (29:52):
No, that's a I want.
Speaker 1 (29:53):
I can still enjoy the concert and still yell and
scream and sing the songs and just you know, I
gotta do it a different way.
Speaker 5 (29:58):
Now.
Speaker 1 (29:58):
It's how it works when you get you know, so
like you go to the wall, boy, it's a lot
of standing. I really want to sit down. Who hurt
you really want to say, I'm just saying it's you.
I want to say, you know, we had this. There's
a tradition at Syracuse the hell okay, the inflection in
enough spaks, who hurt you?
Speaker 5 (30:15):
It sounded like genuine concern for a second.
Speaker 4 (30:17):
A little bit.
Speaker 1 (30:18):
There's a tradition at Syracuse and and I learned this
when I was a freshman, and we still and we
still do. It is that everybody stands and claps until
the first points are scored of the game. And it's
got to be points from the floor, it can't be
a free throw. So everybody stands and claps like this
until the first time Syracuse scores, and everybody claps in
cheers and people sit down.
Speaker 5 (30:37):
So it's a sarcasm, but clap.
Speaker 1 (30:40):
There is no It's like one of those boom doom
doom yeh yeh yeah. Yeah, it's a belt. It's not
the golf top of Yeah, that's great, that's great. Gad No,
it's a boom boom boom. And if they don't if
nobody scores in if Syracuse doesn't score in the first
like thirty five seconds of the game, you could just
tell the whole crowd as all of a sudden goes
some yes, yes, yes to uh, and it's a little
(31:03):
bit less than the club that collapse a little bit slower.
I want to sit down, Come on, I want to
sit And this is when I was like twenty years old.
Speaker 4 (31:10):
I'm like, I want to sit. Let's go. Oh we
miss another shot.
Speaker 5 (31:12):
Come on?
Speaker 4 (31:13):
Ah the balls out of bouts. Oh they're going to
the free thrown Come on, we got come on, come on.
Speaker 1 (31:18):
So that's kind of how it works sometimes I understand
understand more about people. Before you point the finger at me,
point the finger at yourself. You know, every time every
time you point a finger at someone, there's four fingers
looking back pointing.
Speaker 5 (31:30):
Back at you. Just so you know that. Yeah, generally,
I just get the one.
Speaker 1 (31:35):
Time now to find out what's trending in the wide
world of sports from someone who is the runner up
to be the Clippers GM. It's Lanci Blagos with what's trending?
Speaker 6 (31:42):
I would leave this job to be the Clippers gym.
Speaker 5 (31:44):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (31:45):
Wow, What am I going to tell our family?
Speaker 5 (31:48):
You know that they can come not sit on the wall.
Speaker 6 (31:51):
I'll let them go to the game and be comfortable,
all right, So they don't have to stand to the wall.
Speaker 5 (31:55):
You know.
Speaker 6 (31:56):
All the wall does look like a lot of fun,
but it does look like.
Speaker 4 (31:59):
Like they want to work a lot of work. It
is very college, you.
Speaker 6 (32:02):
Know, students at the game, but it does look like.
Speaker 4 (32:05):
A lot of fun. So I I and work all
of that all good work, And.
Speaker 5 (32:11):
I mean I like work.
Speaker 6 (32:12):
Yeah, I just you know, you have to go in
there with the expectation that you're gonna have to stand
and do some work. And that's all it is. The
Mavericks tend to do work against the Thunder. They're up
right now one nineteen to one twelve with ten seconds
to go, and a couple of days ago, like four
games ago, the Mavericks beat the Thunder again. So it's
all about matchups. So right now MAVs without Luka Dancic
(32:34):
beating the Thunder ten seconds to go, they'll probably pull
it off. Since they're up by seven. It's been all
Bucks against the Heat, who are playing without Jimmy Butler.
One seventeen to ninety one is the score with four
minutes to go in the fourth quarter. Damian Lillard with
a triple double, twenty nine points, ten rebounds, and eleven
assists Nicola Jokic with a triple double, the seventeen points,
fifteen rebounds, eleven assists, Nuggets just crushing the Kings ninety
(32:58):
one to seventy five with five minutes to go into
third early in the second court in the second quarter
of the Warriors are now losing to the Bulls thirty
seven to thirty six. They just scored the Lakers with
a couple of nice buckets and they're beating the Celtics
after the first quarter thirty four to twenty three. The
Trailblazers took down the match.
Speaker 5 (33:14):
Still on True TV. Move over now, it moved over.
Speaker 6 (33:17):
I think all the complaints, Yeah, they listened because Ernie
Johnson has a video and he's literally like, this game
is gonna start on True TV, and it didn't.
Speaker 4 (33:26):
They moved absolutely practical Joker Marathon.
Speaker 5 (33:32):
Exactly.
Speaker 6 (33:33):
So no, they put the Bucks game over on True TV,
and they officially put the Lakers in the Celtics on TNT.
The reason all that happened is because the Bucks were
late when they traveled out of New Orleans because of
the snowstorm that had been happening. So that's what happened there.
NBA All Star starters have been announced.
Speaker 4 (33:50):
I know you were talking about it.
Speaker 6 (33:51):
So excited to Nick's out of the East, Donovan Mitchell,
Jalen Brunson, Jason Tatum, Janna Sante Takoumpo, who led all
players in fan voting, by the way, and Carl Anthony
out of the West, Shay gil Just Alexander, Steph Curry,
who apparently edged out Luka Doncic, Lebron James his twenty
first All Star Game, Kevin Durant his fifteenth All Star Game,
and Nicola Jokich. Diana Russini Rusinia of The Athletic tweeted
(34:15):
this about twenty ish minutes ago that Liam Cohen is
expected to be named the next head coach of the Jaguars,
pending final negotiation.
Speaker 4 (34:23):
He's leaving oasis. It seems that way.
Speaker 6 (34:26):
That's the way that she tweeted us about twenty minutes ago.
So it's not official official, but it seems like that's happening.
So exciting there.
Speaker 5 (34:33):
Let's just check in to see.
Speaker 6 (34:34):
If Alex Ovechkin has scored for the Capitals on the ice,
since he's you know, about to break possibly the all
time scoring record no scoreless capitals and Krakens scoreless late
in the first period.
Speaker 4 (34:44):
Okay, back to you.
Speaker 1 (34:45):
Guys, Thanks a bunch of monsters, Jays, Jason Smith, Mike Harbon,
lockedrom the Tirac dot Com Studios.
Speaker 4 (34:50):
Coming up next.
Speaker 1 (34:51):
It looks like an NFL playoff team is ready to
make a big change at quarterback.
Speaker 5 (34:58):
What is it?
Speaker 4 (34:58):
We'll tell you next, Jason to Mike Fox.
Speaker 2 (35:01):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific. Big game coverage just presented by Otesla Oh
Prevo last This is football's biggest moment under the lights,
on the screen, where we come together to celebrate the
(35:21):
best of the best. This is more than a game.
Speaker 1 (35:25):
Be there, Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with
my best friend Mike Harmon. Believe it or not, it
looks like one NFL playoff team, there was a hair's
breadth away from playing for the conference championship, is ready
to make a change of quarterback.
Speaker 4 (35:44):
Well, how do I know this?
Speaker 1 (35:46):
Because of what was said today by Rams head coach
Sean McVay after the Rams got eliminated. Matthew Stafford admitted
that you always playing with bad ribs, banged up ribs,
and you know he still was able to have a
really good backhand of the season. And you think that
Matthew Stafford is he still makes incredible throws. Okay, Stafford's
gonna be somebody's gonna come back next year. The Rams
(36:07):
reload on the fly, and then you had Stafford talking
about how, yeah, I gotta make my decision. He was asked,
do you think you have a lot of football left?
He said, Oh, kind of looks like it. Wait a minute,
what's going on? Well, if you look at Matthew Stafford's contract,
he only has four million dollars guaranteed.
Speaker 3 (36:23):
For this year.
Speaker 1 (36:25):
He's probably doing another like he did a year ago.
Another Hey, I don't know. I'm sitting here thinking I
need more money and Sean McVay is not having it.
Sean McVeigh said today at his end of season news
conference that he hopes there's clarity sooner than later this
offseason on Matthew Stafford and the quotes he said tell
(36:47):
me that they're ready to move on that We're not
going to negotiate. We're not gonna add more money to
your deal, We're not gonna give you two more years
and guarantee all this you're either back for next year
or we're moving on, and we are ready to make
that move.
Speaker 4 (37:01):
Quote.
Speaker 1 (37:01):
We don't want after that that go on again like
what happened last year, getting more money. I don't think
that's good for anybody. There's a lot of love coming
from our part, a lot of appreciation coming from his part.
I think a lot sooner than later is an ideal scenario.
When he was asked if he would be the starting
quarterback next year if he came back, Sean McVeigh said, quote,
we'll talk about all those things at the appropriate time.
Speaker 5 (37:21):
Like the Rams.
Speaker 1 (37:23):
This is why the Rams win because the Rams are
not afraid to reload on the fly the way that
they've been able to do the last fe years. Oh,
Todd Gurley's a big superstar built around him. Nope, we're done.
Speaker 4 (37:33):
We're moving on. Jared Goffer're stuck with him. Nope, we're
moving on.
Speaker 1 (37:36):
We're getting another quarterback. They bring guys in and they
know when it's time to move on. And Matthew Stafford
really is in his last yearish of potentially being the
Rams quarterback, and the Rams are ready to go. You
could tell Sean, this is not a hey, we love you, Matthew,
take all the time you want come back, Because if
that was the case, that's what he'd be saying, Hey,
Matthew's got a big decision to make and we need
(37:57):
to give him some space and all this he was
banged up, all this stuff.
Speaker 4 (38:00):
That's to be saying.
Speaker 1 (38:01):
If this really was a Matthew's got to take his
time and let us know what he thinks, it'd be
a lot of love there. But instead right away, we
want to know, sooner rather than later, what are you doing,
what's happening, what we're not gonna go by this last year.
I'm throwing the gauntlet down right now. They are ready
to move on from Matthew Stafford.
Speaker 4 (38:16):
They are ready to go.
Speaker 1 (38:17):
They'll make a big move and they'll say we still
feel we are just as good as we were, and
we'll read and we'll reboot a quarterback. Usually you don't
reboot a quarterback. But the Rams have shown we change
on the fly and do this better than anybody in
the history of the game. We're able to say, blank
those picks and blank that salary cap, and we continue
to find a way to do it and we'll do
(38:38):
it at quarterback. They are saying, we are ready to
move on to our next quarterback, and I guarantee you
they have their guy in mind. They know if this does,
Matthew Stafford's got to give us this answer because if not,
this is what we're going to do.
Speaker 4 (38:51):
They are ready for another quarterback.
Speaker 5 (38:55):
He's got a four million dollar roster bonus, but no
other guaranteed money. As you said, what about a fifteen
billion dollar cap hit. But the way it works when
you talk about trades or or cuts post June first,
there's ways to save money on that side of things.
But you also are hamstrung if he's not in the
building and not around the facilities and hanging out with
(39:15):
his family, which is his right. They've gone through a lot.
It's well chronicled that you know, if it's time to
walk away for your own health, your own family, whatever it,
then let us know or we're gonna have to let
you know sooner rather than letter, because we can't be hamstrung. Right,
you had all the issues with injuries, but also part
(39:35):
of it was he wasn't at the facilities, and when
you're watching every game you're playing in your quarterback has
no mobility, and you see how vital it is for
the success of all of these teams that are still
playing and those that you're trying to plan against. Having
a guy who's year high for rushing is eighteen on
(39:55):
one broken play because nobody thought there was a chance
in hell he would on the football in that game.
That you know, you've got to move on and adapt
your offense going forward. You got a lot of young
component parts on both sides of the ball. It's time
to go get a quarterback that grows and can age
and mature with them.
Speaker 1 (40:15):
Yeah, and when you hear things like, you know, Matthew
Stafford's wife make a little bit of allusion to all,
you know, the love from the Rams. We'll see how
much they love us, and you know certain just vibes
you get out of this, it's like, yeah, I don't
know that the Matthew Stafford Sean McVay thing is as sunshine,
lollipops and rainbows as people say it is. It's more
of the respect of look at what he's continuing to
do at thirty six, thirty seven, but judging, but just
(40:37):
look at today, Sean McVay is saying, we're ready to
move on.
Speaker 4 (40:39):
Are you coming back?
Speaker 1 (40:40):
If you're coming back, you're coming back, and we're not
gonna go crazy giving you all the sext amount we're
not doing. If you coming back, coming back? If not,
we're ready to move on. And they're pushing him because
they want to move on. I'm not gonna be surprised
if it's a new star ish quarterback playing for the
Rams next year. That looks like what they want to do.
Speaker 4 (40:56):
Coming up next.
Speaker 1 (40:57):
We got more from the NFL VP finals have been announced,
but the real MVP isn't on the list.
Speaker 4 (41:04):
Fox.
Speaker 2 (41:05):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (41:15):
That said that you know with money from show Hey
to pay you had a lot of people who would say, uh,
show hey, I had to know something, right, You had
to know There's no way he didn't know anything.
Speaker 4 (41:25):
You had to know something. Maybe they didn't say it
just like that, but it sounds better when I do
that voice.
Speaker 1 (41:29):
Just so you had to know something because you picture
someone who's saying that and then like either smoking a
cigarette or taking a drink of whiskey.
Speaker 4 (41:34):
Eh, guy had to know something like you're Ron White,
you know, I'm just gonna smoke.
Speaker 5 (41:38):
Oh, take a big drag off, I.
Speaker 1 (41:42):
Mean, which is which is really a genius thing because
then your stuff seems even funnier if you do it
and then you take a take a drag off a
cigarette like that on a dramatic pause, Like you could
say things that aren't that funny, but then you puff
a cigarette, it sounds funnier. It's like when you put
the effort in the middle of a comedic routine. It
might not be funny, but if you put an fwards
and people are gonna laugh, or if.
Speaker 5 (42:02):
You do it sporadically, so it really hits the the
emphasis of the joke. Hmm, right, he can't he can't
do it too often because then you're you're just a
potty mouth.
Speaker 4 (42:10):
You could purse. You do both.
Speaker 5 (42:13):
If you do both well, chuck and whiskey.
Speaker 4 (42:16):
He had to know. He had to know, He had
to know, he had to know.
Speaker 1 (42:19):
Well, according to federal prosecutors Big from the Big Court
filing today, UH, they are recommending a fifty seven month
prison sentence for EPA, and they released an audio recording
in which he is impersonating Otani in an attempt to
wire money from Otani's bank account.
Speaker 4 (42:39):
He's getting the needle.
Speaker 5 (42:40):
I mean he said, I don't have time to jack
with you today.
Speaker 1 (42:43):
I mean he he's I mean there's audio him like
on the phone here, you know, transfer this money. And
I guess you know you can't just call on the
phone and say, Trent, this is not nineteen eighty six.
You can't just say, oh, let's cancel this or transfer this.
Like he's got to have access to to to credit
cards and different things, different bits of information, so we
(43:04):
can be able to say that.
Speaker 4 (43:05):
But the audio him impersonating show Tony we're going for him.
Speaker 5 (43:11):
I mean months, that's unreal. On One of the data
points was that while talking with a customer service rep,
they do the thing and like, I'm gonna send you
a code. Read me the code? Uh mitz Ohara had
said he needed two hundred thousand dollars for a car loan.
Speaker 4 (43:30):
Who am I speaking with?
Speaker 1 (43:31):
The bank employee asked in the recording, show heyo Tani,
miss O'Hara replied. Miss Horror told the bank employee he
could not log into online banking. I tried to make
a wire transfer a couple of days ago. They told
me that's probably the reason they transferred me to this number.
Then he gets the six digit code that was texted
him by the banker for two factor authentication. He said,
(43:51):
I need her. I need you to send me two
hundred thousand dollars for a car loan. Hey, what's your
relationship to the paye? He's my friend? Have you met
your friend in person? Many times? I've only asked this
because we haven't been able to verify the transaction, and
so will there be any future wires to your friend?
The agent said, Possibly says he pay like this is like,
this is like how you'd see it in a movie,
(44:12):
Like how he's doing here.
Speaker 4 (44:14):
I got the numbers, I got this, send it to me.
I got a car loan from my friend.
Speaker 1 (44:17):
I know my friend. Like she's asking tons of questions.
It's a big amount of money, so it feels like she's,
you know, she's really doing going to the wall about
this and and and and making sure that Hey, I'm
asking all the right questions. A big amount of money
is this? But man to call up on the phone
and to impersonate and do try to impersonate showing how
(44:37):
Tani like I can't get over you know, how how
deep you are in and how you think I can
get away with it. This is the level on that
I'm gonna call it. Pretend I'm him, and that's how
I'm gonna get this money that I need to pay
off these gambling debts.
Speaker 5 (44:50):
Well, but that's the argument on the other side, is
that it's you know, because they're trying to get the
court sympathy and lean into you know, it's a behavior
and he couldn't help himself, and they're like, well, what
about the baseball cards, what about the cars? What about
all of the other money that you're spending, Uh, that
isn't going towards gambling debts or being lost in a casino.
(45:13):
I mean, there's the part of the the brief is
that you know, they're they're going and having uh he's
gambling with people while other other baseball personnel, right, other
players and their agents and trainers and other things. So
it's a multi fast I mean, this is a TV
(45:34):
movie of the Week if there ever was one, with
all of these little extra you know, wrinkles and details
that come out of here. But yeah, just absolutely amazing
when you start getting this fifty seven months.
Speaker 4 (45:47):
Yeah, guys, we'll bring the chair back for this guy.
Speaker 1 (45:50):
Man, I'm picturing like Stanley Tucci from Pelican Brief, you know,
trying to impersonate John Hurd.
Speaker 4 (45:54):
Where do you want to meet? Where do you want
to meet? Where do you want to meet?
Speaker 5 (45:57):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (45:58):
That's show he sholly, let's sw Yeah, he's a money
needs some money for a car.
Speaker 5 (46:02):
Think about it, guys, all of these sentences that come down, right.
We follow a lot of local and national news and
big cases. It's like that's all they got. They got,
they got what this guy's getting fifty seven months recommended.
Speaker 4 (46:15):
You're going to get for.
Speaker 5 (46:16):
Defraud and his friend over gambling in a luxury car
and trading car.
Speaker 4 (46:21):
I don't know for a fact. Yeah, I just know
it's true. He's getting the death metal. The needle is coming.
Speaker 5 (46:26):
This is it, but it doesn't exist in that state.
Doesn't matter.
Speaker 4 (46:30):
They're bringing it back.
Speaker 5 (46:31):
They bringing it back back.
Speaker 4 (46:33):
Exit at about to Frasca, Exit Swallen Dome, Jason Smith,
Mike Carmon live from the tirec dot Com studios.
Speaker 1 (46:38):
So the finalists for NFL MVP were announced today and
the final five are in order, Josh Allen, Saquon Barkley,
Joe Burrow, Jared Goff, and Lamara Jackson.
Speaker 4 (46:52):
I say that in order because it's alphabetical. Where was
Aaron Rodgers? He's sixth. He's right, he just missed.
Speaker 5 (46:58):
He just got the car.
Speaker 1 (47:00):
So Josh Allen, Saquon Barkley, Joe Burrow, Jared Goff, and
Lamar Jackson. If we were voting for the NFL MVP,
and it was up until now, right, let's just say
this is the cutoff right right now, outside of the
divisional round into the AFC and NFC Championship game. If
you're saying this is where the cutoff is, who's the
NFL MVP this year? The NFL MVP is not on
(47:23):
this list right now. I've told you for a long time. Look,
Saquon Barkley's the MVP of the NFL. Look at what
he's done this year. It's incredible. But as you've seen
in the playoffs, hey, he's got some big holes to
run through. This Eagles offensive line still doesn't seem to miss.
Jason Kelsey, the guy retired, and still they got a
two thousand yard running back that was one sitting out
game away from having more yards rushing than Eric Dickerson. Right,
(47:46):
that's a huge deal for the offensive line. There's no
games where he stopped. He is a bigger running back.
Speaker 4 (47:51):
He is not fair.
Speaker 1 (47:52):
He's not Jamior Gibbs where you just need that little
crease and he's in it and he's gone. No, he
needs to have a good offensive line in front of him.
Even in games when they can't throw the football, because
all of a sudden, Jalen Hurts become a game manager.
He's throwing for one hundred and twenty yards a week.
They still are able to run the football. Now, I
say this because you're splitting hairs when you talk about
NFL MVP. But if you're saying, okay, here we are
(48:14):
going to the NFC Championship game, who's the NFL MVP.
The MVP is Jaden Daniels because you see these other
guys on the list. Jared Goff is home after a
horrendous playoff game losing, oh by the way to Jayden Daniels.
Speaker 4 (48:28):
Right, Joe Burrow didn't make the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (48:30):
Josh Allen has been good, hasn't been unbelievable as in
single handedly one game though that might happen this weekend.
Lamar Jackson is home, going home to Josh Allen, who's
the guy that has the worst supporting cast and still
has his team one game away from the super Bowl
in the season in which they're starting over of all these,
all these finalists for MVP, he's got the worst, the
(48:53):
worst skill position players, offensive.
Speaker 4 (48:56):
Line, all of it. And still Jaden Daniels is dynamic.
He's not a game manager.
Speaker 1 (49:01):
He's putting up huge numbers, and he's a dual threat quarterback.
And we talk all about yes, he's got so much
poise and all, yes, you're pois with him until you
were blue in the face.
Speaker 4 (49:10):
I know, I get it.
Speaker 1 (49:10):
He has poise. It's like Ryan Fitzpatrick's a smart quarterback.
I understand poise is a veteran. We get he doesn't
get that excited. Yeah, all of these things. If you're
voting now for the NFL MVP, it's Jaden Daniels. Now
you're not you're voting to the end of the year,
which means you always say, oh, it's a change count
the playoffs. Yeah, okay, I'm with you on that, But
right now, if you're going up until now, Jaden Daniels
(49:31):
is your MVP.
Speaker 5 (49:32):
Look at you. I love your excitement over this. I'd
like to make my statement when it comes to Barkley.
And remember Derrick Henry was everybody's flavor for a couple
of weeks and then it went back to Lamar Jackson
or going back to Josh Jacobs in Green Bay. Remember
all three of those teams had really good offensive lines,
(49:55):
and they were all pretty good before those guys showed up.
Take nothing from what I mean. They had fantastic six seasons,
no question about it. Eagles were able to run the
ball with gain Well and Boston Scott and a cast
of thousands over the last couple of years behind that
offensive line. So Barkley next level two thousand yards, but
(50:18):
the base was already pretty strong. Likewise, in Baltimore, they
finally got Ronnie Stanley to get through his season. Maybe
he's the real MVP of it all. And don't forget
they were also a thirteen win team a year ago,
so and then Green Bay was a playoff team. Remember
they ousted Dan Quinn when Jordan Love posted that one
hundred and fifty eight point three.
Speaker 4 (50:39):
Jayde and Daniels, you still hate Dan Quinn you see,
I don't hate it. Did you always find a way
to side swipe?
Speaker 5 (50:45):
No?
Speaker 4 (50:45):
No, no, and yes you no no no joy line
side slide no no no.
Speaker 5 (50:54):
All that is it's a motivation because you can have
one terrible day side, You can have a bad Thursday.
Right this day could be terrible for you. Maybe someone
forgot to call you, maybe you missed an appointment, Maybe
you were stuck in traffic all day. Maybe maybe your
burger was under cook and you were salty. They forgot
(51:14):
your cheese. I don't know. But tomorrow there's promise of
a better day. And Dan Quinn is that guy to
show you that there's promise for a better day. And
I like you. Jade Daniels pick. We've been talking about
it a lot, right top five right now, if you're
going through the NFL in terms of quarterbacks, you'd get
him in there. He'd be the thumb or the pinky,
depending on which way you're counting it out. Right, So
(51:36):
we look at Jade and Daniels a magnificent season, he'll
win Rookie of the Year, and he still has the
opportunity to play for bigger steaks. And right now, I
think there's a lot of the football world, and let's
face it, after the Eagle, after the Philadelphia mayor and
her spelling error, and the fact that you've seen the
(51:57):
Eagles the last couple of years and you don't know
what happens with Nick Siria. Isn't that part of what
you're rooting about this week? Hey, there could still be
chaos and Philly. So yeah, Jaden Daniels has become everybody.
He's all American at this point. And sure, if you've
cast the vote including what you've seen thus far from
the wild card division games, yeah you might go over
(52:18):
the top. But I picked at one before the season.
I'm not stopping now.
Speaker 1 (52:22):
Exit alt By, Defresca, Exit Swollendome. If you went through now,
it's Daniels, and it's not even close. He's not even
on the list of How abouty Cliff Kingsbury? Would you
go hire him? Forget about Schottenheimer, Go get Kingsbury.
