(01:04):
it's funny.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
Tell you know Ty Shirt's new favorite drop AI Jerry Jones.
You know it's his way is terrible.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
Look, I'm gonna do things my way, and my way
is terrible.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
Hey, you know every you know, honestly, I thought of
That's the first thing I thought of today when I
saw that report from Clarence Hill Cowboys insider uh that
said that Brian Schottenheimer is set to be named Dallas
Cowboys head coach by Friday, maybe sometime this week. And
now we have to wait and see is this gonna
get picked up mores as a thing. But here is

(01:35):
this report out in Dallas. Then Brian Schottenheimer is going
to be the head coach. And all like think of
is that AI Jerry Jones is my way, but my
way is blake and terrible.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
I thought about that for like an hour going. That
could have been the real Jerry Jones if he has
this press converence. Yeah, Brian Schottenneimer, it's my way and
my way is blake and terrible.

Speaker 4 (01:55):
And about sums it up, Brian, it's the Could it work? Sure?
Does it look good on the surface? Hell no, when
you're already a laughing stock. Uh.

Speaker 5 (02:05):
And people have questioned every direction. We've named almost every
former Dallas Cowboy that had any tenure with the squad.

Speaker 4 (02:14):
Hey, can he coach there?

Speaker 2 (02:15):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (02:16):
He was coaching the junior league over there? What was
he doing?

Speaker 5 (02:19):
He signed some autographs that he threw some footballs out
to the crowd.

Speaker 4 (02:23):
Okay, give him a give him an interview.

Speaker 5 (02:25):
I mean it is uh yeah, it's just the the
idea that you're you're in this big chase top notch
talent coordinators or recycling guys that have won at the
highest level. And then they do they think they're getting
his dad.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
I you know, I have to sit here and say,
how does a guy that nobody else wanted to interview
become the front runner and maybe the next head coach
of the Cowboys, Like he hasn't talked to anybody, nobody
else has wanted to talk to him. Yet this is
the guy that Jerry Jones is gonna This is so

(03:08):
disheartening if this happens, if this is indeed the way
it's going. And look, we've heard there have been two
people all week, right, the only two names we heard
have been Brian Schottenheimer and we've heard Kellen Moore.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
These are the only two names we were neither of that.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
In fact, Kellen Moore might even be more depressing than
Brian Shott and Herry because Kellen Moore was a guy
who was there. They sawn, we don't like you anymore.
We're letting you go.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
He leaves.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
Now, oh now we want to bring you back and
give you a promotion. It's like failing upward. I don't
understand how that happened. I'm a ail Oh the cowboy.
I really like being in Dallas. That maybe somebody that'll
bring you back as a head coach. That's not gonna happen.
It's Dallas. You never know, so either of these names.
It's so disheartening that this is what's going to happen.
Neither of that, and in fact, even to take it
out to Kelch, neither of them have been talked to

(03:52):
by anybody else, not even the Jets who were so
desperate for candidates before they realize, oh, Aaron Glenz's it's
his dream job. Okay, great, Even the Bears who were
talking to Mike McCarthy before Ben Jonson said, hey, I
gotta go the Jaguars. Not none of these other teams,
the Raiders, none of these other teams. No, no, but
this is where Jerry Jones is gonna go to someone

(04:14):
nobody is interested in, just because he wants someone that
he can control, even more so than he can control
Mike McCarthy. Because now it sort of looks like this,
right when you think about this from a different angle,
And here's your new fresh take on the Cowboys head
coaching situation. Did Mike McCarthy get fired? Not because well

(04:34):
he's wind up? You know, he didn't achieve this year? Right,
he had all the twelve three twelve win seasons in
a row. But now he was a bad year. Obviously,
Dak got hurt injury. You lose your quarterback, what are
you gonna do? Really, what do you expect a team
to do when they lose their quarterback. I give them
all kinds of credit for not quitting on Mike McCarthy.
They hung in there with Mike McCarthy. Cooper Rush is
able to win a couple of games. I mean, the
Cowboys did not quit, which shows you the loyalty they

(04:56):
had toward Mike McCarthy. And now I want to say this,
was that loyalty too much? Did Mike McCarthy have too
big of a voice in the Cowboys organization with the players?
And Jerry Jones saw and said, no, that voice is
too big. I need someone else with less of a voice.
Not that, not that Suddenly I'm not making all the decisions.
But Mike McCarthy has a lot. He's got The players

(05:18):
have his back, and now I need somebody else in
there who the players don't have his back as much,
that is not as big of a voice, and that's
why he fired Mike McCarthy. That is a hot, hot take.
It's as hot as a temperature in this studio, which
is a balming ninety five degrees because the air conditioning
has been out for like four days. We've ordered a
part I think from somewhere in Amarillo, Texas, and we're

(05:39):
waiting for it to be delivered. It's like bleep in
midnight run to try to get this part in here.
But that's how hot this take is. That maybe Mike
McCarthy had too big of a voice and too much
respect in the organization and that's why he got fired.

Speaker 4 (05:52):
Well, I mean they.

Speaker 5 (05:53):
Fixed the glitch. Did he really get fired or did
they let the contract run out?

Speaker 4 (05:59):
But I go even hotter.

Speaker 5 (06:02):
What if they realized that McCarthy, because he was at
a standstill with the cowboys, Schottenheimer was actually running it
when the backups played well down the stretch and he said,
that's our guy.

Speaker 4 (06:17):
The coordinator is the guy we elevate. How about that? See, Now,
while he's got a strong.

Speaker 5 (06:25):
Voice externally he's got the faith of the guys in the.

Speaker 6 (06:30):
Room, and and I don't have to pay him Ben
Johnson money. I don't have to go over the top
because he's already here, and where the hell else is
he gonna go?

Speaker 4 (06:42):
How about that?

Speaker 3 (06:43):
I don't have to pay anybody any money if I
don't want to. It's Dallas Cowboys head coaching job here.
They come from all over to come in here to
do it.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
I could just pay him in cowboy bucks, just money
that can be spent in the greater Dallas Fort Worth area.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
Uh, don't go outside the city limits. That money's no good.

Speaker 4 (06:57):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
Steven's on the fifty dollars bill, had to put Dak
on the hun and take Tony off. But then, because
you know, it's kind of stocked down on Tony Romel
right now, so we replaced it with Dak there a
little bit, get some cowboy legends on the five hundred
thousand dollars bill. But yeah, you can spend all your stuff,
just go anywhere you want to, just within the city limits.
If if I had heard, I would say this. If

(07:17):
we had heard, the Cowboys and the players had there
was a bit of a mutiny or there was a
bit of we're following Shoddy, but we're not following McCarthy.
I think it would be different. But you saw when
McCarthy got let go that Dak Prescott was upset, Michael
Parsons was upset. I mean that's something when you get
the leader of the offense leader of defense to both say, yeah,

(07:39):
we're upset we lost the head coach, right, We're upset
we lost him. So that I mean that that's a
big thing that tells me, why is Jerry Jones making
this making this change? Okay, it's a big name coming. Well,
he flirted with Dion Sanders. That obviously isn't happening. So
now we're gonna go even worse. And really, I mean,
you think, but it's Jerry Jones. I really wonder did
Mike McCarthy have too big a void, he have too

(08:00):
much respect from the players and Jerry Jones wanted to
change that because that is something completely in Jerry Jones's wheelhouse.
Cause remember, gonna do things his way, but his way
is blank and terrible. I mean, just think about it
like that and go, Okay, if there was such a
thing where the coaches they didn't listen to it. Then
McCarthy would have been pushed out right away and Shottenheimer
would have been elevated right They would have had an interview,

(08:21):
they would have satisfied the Rooney rule, which a lot
of teams do, which that's got to be examined the
way that happens. But you know, they would have had
the Rooney rule, would have satisfied, and they would have
elevated Brian Schottenheimer right away. But instead we're gonna wait,
we're gonna let the contract laps, we're gonna flirt with
the on, We're gonna talk with other people, and now, oh,
here we go. We're gonna go with Brian Schottenheimer. Like
Jerry Jones, let time run out? He let timer Where

(08:42):
were all the people that he supposedly Where are all
the big names that he was gonna be talking to
to interview right? Where was Where was Ben Johnson? Where
are all of these guys that he should have been
talking to, these that he wants to bring out? Where
was Mike vrabel in that right all? Even though he
went to the Patriots. But he's not gonna take an
interview with the Cowboys. Be the want maybe the Cowboys
head coach like, where's all of this first and second
interviews with these people? Instead it's just we're just sitting

(09:04):
back and now I'm gonna name my guy. I'm telling you, man,
the more I think about it, the more I think
Mike McCarthy just had too big a voice and it's
insane that that's how big businesses runs.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
But again, cowboys Comma Dallas. So there's that.

Speaker 5 (09:16):
Well, yeah, it comes down to how much you believe
the little bits and pieces of reporting, whether it's Clarence Hill,
Jane Slater, all of our insiders with different pid bits
along the way regarding the relationship between McCarthy and Jones
in that they never actually got to that you know,
eleventh hour conversation that everybody by that point did the

(09:40):
Vegas blackjack dealer, I'm done for the night, you know,
nothing up my sleeve, I'm gone kind.

Speaker 4 (09:46):
Of situation or Mike McCarthy.

Speaker 5 (09:49):
You know, as we go down theories as to how
this really broke apart is that Jerry Jones assumed it
was gonna get done, which is why there was no
great movement that at the eleventh hour it was going
to be all right, what do you need, let's do it.
And then McCarthy tried to push for whatever he could
get out of it. It's like, all right, I'm kind

(10:10):
of done here, but let's make a list of demands.
And one of those that was proffered was he wanted
assurances for all of the assistance because they're the collateral damage, right,
and they're families, and a lot of these circumstances, especially now,
what have we got seven straight years of one in
at least one in one and done coach, Try to

(10:31):
say that five times fast, one and done coaches. Every
year we're getting somebody fired after, you know, a cup
of coffee because someone decides to turn the page and
go in a different direction.

Speaker 4 (10:43):
So yeah, it's it's what do you believe?

Speaker 5 (10:47):
And Jerry's given us no reason but to believe the worst,
because at the base of it all, he held out
long enough with the McCarthy thing that he never had
a chance to even talk to the guys from Detroit.
Whether they would have shown up for an interview, a
cursory conversation at a seventy two ounce porterhouse or not,

(11:07):
I don't know, but they never even got to that
part of the how do you dos? And the grand
pageantry of coming to see Jerry World with their name
and lights and all that stuff, like he would have
done in Blue Chips.

Speaker 4 (11:20):
To announce the.

Speaker 5 (11:20):
Guy hey with listen to the world would sound like if
you came here and we introduced you. So yeah, it's
just that curiosity in Jerry Be and Jerry Meanwhile, Mike McCarthy,
it's consolation prizing gonna end up in New Orleans.

Speaker 1 (11:35):
I mean, yeah, dude, I mean that's the thing is
that you know, in the beginning part of this is Okay,
McCarthy's gonna get out and he's gonna get a decent gig.

Speaker 3 (11:45):
Right, He's gonna get a decent gig. And okay, well,
all right, the Jets, swell, it's not gonna happen. Aaron
Rodgers had kind of been there and done.

Speaker 1 (11:52):
That, all right, Yeah they got along well okay in
the beginning, but then not so much at the end.

Speaker 3 (11:55):
Okay, well, we'll move on somewhere else. Now. It's like
the Saints or the Jaguars or the Raiders.

Speaker 4 (12:02):
Well, like Jaguars are done.

Speaker 1 (12:08):
Liam Cohen is leaving Oasis to uh go be the
potentially be the head coach of the Jaguars.

Speaker 3 (12:12):
No, I mean, like, what did I tell you yesterday?

Speaker 4 (12:14):
But gonna I mean, I mean he said he was
gonna go.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
He was a great he was. He was a great
half directing team with his brother. You know, he got Faro.
He had a lot of great mood.

Speaker 1 (12:23):
Now he's gonna go be the coach of the Jackuars.
McCarthy who you thought was gonna be a big winner
in all of this because Okay, now he gets out
and and everybody knows what kind of great coach he is,
and the CEO head coach is really in vogue now.
Instead it's like, dude, if you're gonna stay in the league,
it's like barely in the league, like like the bottom
of the barrel for teams, Like I gotta think at

(12:45):
some point, you know, you know McCarthy, he would be
he would be a great choice with the Raiders like
he you know, sometimes you need a let's just get
to the bottom of the barrel and stop the decline
and and try to build back up and stop the backsliding.

Speaker 3 (13:00):
Jason, what are you doing? And the Raiders did that before, right,
they've done that before.

Speaker 1 (13:05):
Now McCarthy would be a good He would be a
good I don't know why it hasn't happened yet. Brandon
Staley's the perfect Well, I know they'll go for it
on fourth down. That'll happen, but like he like like that,
I think that's the fit, Like.

Speaker 3 (13:16):
Really you want to go to New Ors now.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
I think the Raiders might be the McCarthy fit where
it's like, Okay, I'm going for all of it. Either
I can turn this franchise around and suddenly bring it
back to glory, or I'm just gonna be out of
the NFL after this, Like I'm really gonna go win
into war. So I mean, I feel like that's like
the only place for him left to go. And it's
like is that winning or is that just grabbing straws
At the end, there are no winners in this cowboy situation.

Speaker 3 (13:40):
There are no winners. There are no winners here. The
players don't win, the fans don't win.

Speaker 1 (13:44):
Whoever they name his coach doesn't win because he's going
to be terrible, and the coach who left doesn't win.

Speaker 3 (13:49):
Nobody wait, there are no way. It's like Nick Beckay,
there are no winners here.

Speaker 5 (13:53):
Shot and Iron wins by the way, with Nick Bekai
getting ready to celebrate an AFC title game. I reached
out to it and just said, buddy, you're back. But
the uh for Schottenheimer, maybe the first time head coach,
he gets to put that on the resume after what
being an offensive coordinator for multiple teams for fourteen years.

Speaker 4 (14:13):
I'd say that's a win for him.

Speaker 5 (14:14):
He finally got over to the top of the mountain
and then he can tumble down by one the team
fails miserably.

Speaker 1 (14:21):
Exit out about a fresca exit swalling down. The Jason

Speaker 3 (14:28):
Did Mike McCarthy get.

Speaker 1 (14:29):
Let go because he had too big a voice and
too much respect with the Cowboys? You're shaking your head going, yeah, no,
I could totally completely say that Jameson's going.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
To do things my way, and my way is terrible.

Speaker 3 (14:41):
You know, you play that and it sounds a little
bit like Wilford Brimley. I'm Wilford Brimley. I mean, at
the beginning of it sounds like wild Brimley.

Speaker 2 (14:47):
Yeah, I'm going to do things my way about.

Speaker 4 (14:51):
You think maybe they took from a little Wilfrid Brimley
to maage to that voice.

Speaker 1 (14:55):
Oh see, you know more about AI creating AI voices
than me, So I.

Speaker 4 (14:59):

Don't have the right team on the court. Express Employment
Professionals can help from contract placements to full time hires.
We got you covered. Visit expresspros dot com today and
let us handle your hiring so you can focus on
growing your business. We'll speaking of having the right team
on the court. It's not often that a team has
a you know, an All Star starter in the NBA
All Star Game. But you can pretty give you guys

(17:05):
like Lebron take up all the idea. But when you
have two starters on the All Star team, hell, Jalen Brunson,
Big Bodega starting for the Eastern Conference in the All
Star Games. The Knicks have two fifths of all the starters,
Mike Harmon two fifth They if they wanted to, they
could really have all of them. But I you know,

(17:27):
it's nice to have other guys play. And I understand
there's other players who you know, they kind of call
stars in the Eastern Conference. You gotta have Giannis a
little bit. Yeah, sure, I guess why not. But it's
it's it's kind of nice that the Knicks allow other
teams to have a couple of players on this first
team stuff.

Speaker 4 (17:41):
The ballot box.

Speaker 3 (17:42):
That's nice.

Speaker 5 (17:46):
All Star voting is going back to going back to
all those years ago. I remember going to Komiskey Park
and then say how many of the ballots would you
give me for the All Star Game? And they look
at you like you're crazy, Like you are you actually
gonna fill them out?

Speaker 4 (17:59):
It's like Tamra eight, I am, and away we went.

Speaker 5 (18:03):
And you know, Jerry Dibzinski and some of those legends
of the early eighties got an inordinate number of votes
when the Harmon Boys were in the sea.

Speaker 4 (18:12):
It's the same thing here, Big Bodega.

Speaker 5 (18:14):
I mean, you write a nice algorithm and you get
some bots to vote.

Speaker 4 (18:18):
For you, and all of a sudden, hey, hey.

Speaker 1 (18:20):
Hey, these are all real life nick fans that are voting.
They're very they were very ready for a championship, love
Big Bodega, and.

Speaker 3 (18:27):
They're putting them in the starting lineup. That's what No
bots are happening over fraud.

Speaker 1 (18:31):
Not have stop now because I'll get Look, it's it
sounds like a hot take, but it's not hanging chads.
We talked about this, lad, Yeah, because that's how people
are punching out chads to vote for the autar.

Speaker 3 (18:42):
Because it's nineteen ninety six. That's how we're doing it.

Speaker 5 (18:44):
Hey, hey, I can dream of a simpler time when
I was younger and it wasn't all electronic.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
Back when writing you actually had to write the person's
name there like you had to write.

Speaker 5 (18:54):
I can't I can't make out what this guy said.
I think it says Kermy.

Speaker 6 (18:59):
Is it all?

Speaker 3 (18:59):
I'll be us.

Speaker 1 (19:00):
We talked about this last night, coming off the fifty
four point night and and and seeing how he cuts
through more than anyone else so far. We're forty five
games into the NBA season and I don't think this
is going to change. Shake gil Just Alexander is gonna
be the MVP. Right, He's leading the league in scoring,
He's on the best team. Yes, the Cavaliers are really good,

(19:21):
but this is an entire offense that is that is
rolling the number one offense in the in the NBA. Yeah,
Donovan Mitchell is sort of the head of the Snake,
but boy, they're really deep. They got a lot of
offense there. And meanwhile, you look at Oklahoma City, who
is the same. They're missing Chet right, no, Chet right
when you're this guy's a number one overall picking the draft, thinking.

Speaker 3 (19:39):
Hey we got it.

Speaker 1 (19:40):
We got an NBA Finals type team here, and you're
missing Chet and still you're this good like Shake gild
Just Alexander. He's going to win the MVP and that's
not going to change.

Speaker 4 (19:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (19:51):
I know what's funny, Jason, is that there's one guy
that could could have made a run, but he's missed
too many games, only played twenty six on the year.
His team's sitting there in the third slot in the
Western Conference, actually percentage points behind the number two squad
that's John Morant, because it would have been the great

(20:11):
redemption story I have suddenly Memphis changed you down.

Speaker 4 (20:14):
But he's not gonna play the sixty five.

Speaker 1 (20:16):
He's not getting there, and all the other guys are, Okay,
can we give Jokic another MVP?

Speaker 3 (20:21):
No, we're not gonna do that.

Speaker 1 (20:23):
Can we Embid is not even on the floor, Like
there's no other care Honestly, the number two guy, and
I'm telling you things, the number two guy is Big Bodega.
Like if you're doing an MVP ballot right now, it's
Gildas Alexander and then it's Karl Anthony Towns like that,
that's the impact you can tell that he has had
with the Knicks, with it with his new role, Like

(20:43):
that's where you go, Okay, wait a minute, I can
see where the impact of him is great. And we
like that in sports, Hey, we take a guy from
another team, put him on a new team. You see
how good his new team is, and boy, you see
how ordinary his old team looks when he's when he's
off there and he's come through, like he said, these
huge games all season long. The guy's an All Star starter.
If you're going MVP bout like and I don't know

(21:06):
that that's gonna change.

Speaker 3 (21:07):
I don't know that it's gonna go more.

Speaker 1 (21:08):
At the end of the year, I go, hey, it's
Gildess Alexander, and then it's Big Bodega one too.

Speaker 3 (21:12):
And I'm telling you.

Speaker 1 (21:13):
You know, I'm telling you truth because if I wasn't,
I would say Big Bodega's gonna win.

Speaker 3 (21:16):
This guy Goot Gilds done the mat Rold Club and
said he nobody knows where that is. No one's gonna
vote fam, it's not gonna happen. It's Big Bodega. He's
gonna No.

Speaker 1 (21:24):
I'm telling you Sga number one, Big Bodega number two.
That's probably how it should end. I mean it may
not because you know, people don't like the mix, which
you know, come on, But but Sga is gonna win,
and I would have Big Bodega second.

Speaker 4 (21:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (21:37):
It's it's funny, man, because you start going down. Donovan
Mitchell once he had about twenty three and a half
a game team doing well, but it's it's a great distribution.
They've got multiple guys that can step up on at
any point. We've seen them win big games in our
window where he's not been really much of a factor,
where his shooting's been off, and other guys, Garland and

(22:00):
the big guys have come up and played well.

Speaker 4 (22:02):
You got Boston.

Speaker 5 (22:03):
Everybody expects great things and you look at the numbers,
and certainly for Jason Tatum twenty seven, what nine and
five and a half or whatever his stats are that
you know you can make the argument for him. But
does he suffer from a little bit of what Nikola
Jokic does? Right, He's won the MVP a couple times

(22:24):
and you know, get you quite obviously. But for Jason Tatum,
it's just the expectation. All right, your team's gonna be great.
That's what you do. Shrug, move on, go go try
to win another title. MVP's not for you. So it's
it's curious right to see if we can find a
dark horse to emerge. Houston's got a lot of great weapons,

(22:46):
but again, they neutralize each other because which guy are
you picking out of the pack? Right, It's good balance
and last I saw they don't give giant awards to
offensive linemen in the NFL for Team MVP or defensive lines,
you know, the Giants or whatever else we may have argued,
or the Ravens defensive front back in the day, Siragusa

(23:07):
and Hellodi Nada, that's not happening. Same thing with the NBA.
You got to pick a single guy and shake Gilgess.
Alexander gets the extra flowers for being a guy that
paid his dues, not only because he played for the Clippers,
but because he was coming off the bench for them.

Speaker 3 (23:22):
Hey look, and if you're the Clippers, because people forget
oh yeah, yeah, oh this guy.

Speaker 4 (23:27):
Where is eb of?

Speaker 3 (23:28):
Oh yeah, the Clippers had him?

Speaker 1 (23:30):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (23:30):
Oh you know who's keely aware of where he played?

Speaker 3 (23:33):
Yeah yeah, who's that.

Speaker 4 (23:34):
Trading card collector? Could right now? SGA rookies are on fire?

Speaker 1 (23:40):
Got that Clippers SGA rookie? Yeah what Yeah, we don't
really talk about that so much. I don't know there's
any video evidence that he actually played with the Clippers.
I think that it's all been wiped away. Any anything
that's not at the Intuit Dome has been wiped away.

Speaker 3 (23:53):
We don't have that anymore.

Speaker 5 (23:55):
I tell you they they're now bombarding me with advertising
to get people to come sit.

Speaker 4 (24:00):
Part of the wall.

Speaker 5 (24:01):
Okay, it's a couple of home games under thirty bucks.

Speaker 4 (24:04):
Forget in.

Speaker 3 (24:04):
Oh, my cousin just went.

Speaker 1 (24:06):
I told you my cousin, Sam, biggest Clipper fan in
the world, goes to Clipper games all the time.

Speaker 3 (24:11):
Never went your cousins.

Speaker 4 (24:14):
Uh wow, that's a revelation.

Speaker 3 (24:16):
Yes, Monsey and I were late. We didn't tell anybody
were related.

Speaker 6 (24:19):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (24:19):
She's the biggest Clipper fan in the world. She's been
going to games for a long time. I remember when
she the Clippers had to design your own T shirt
contest when she first moved to LA and she designed
a T shirt with like stuff for Chris Cayman on
it because she Chris Cayman was her favorite player. And
I said, hey, here's what you do. Design a T
shirt and just draw an island and say it's the
Cayman Island.

Speaker 3 (24:39):
How cool you'll get on TV? You'll win. She goes, yeah, yeah, yeah.
She puts it on and I text her at the
end of the game, did you get on TV? They
show you?

Speaker 7 (24:47):
No?

Speaker 1 (24:47):
I said, why? She goes, well, we're too far up.
I go, where are you sitting? And she told me
she's in the next to last row up street.

Speaker 3 (24:54):
You gotta be closer than that. How the hell are
you gonna get notus? No one's good. They don't even
have lights up there like they they showed. They they
put the up to the up to the top and
they go, there's this.

Speaker 1 (25:04):
It's just a bunch of dark screen like you get.
It's like you're watching a television show. Uh now streaming.
Why is it so dark?

Speaker 4 (25:10):
Huh?

Speaker 1 (25:10):
It's the way to shoot things now, it's creative. You
gotta you gotta find a camera or something. You gotta
make sure someone gets video of you. You can't just
be sitting in your seat. That's like one row from
the top of the arena. Come on, is Staples is
a big place, and that's a looking down on the
court from the very top.

Speaker 3 (25:26):
No one's gonna see you there.

Speaker 5 (25:28):
No, you gotta walk the perimeter and you got you
got some pretty good cause ways to get through there
that maybe maybe you can be seen. I think you
legitimately walk right past the camera wells and a couple
of the spots don't.

Speaker 3 (25:40):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, no, you do it. Sho you gotta
ham it up.

Speaker 4 (25:45):
You can't.

Speaker 1 (25:45):
This is how people And I said, look, this is
how people get discovered. Right, all of a sudden, Hey,
someone gets shown at a basketball game, whether it's someone's girlfriend,
someone's husband, and all of a sudden they are a
viral sensation. You don't just stand there and certainly they
don't sit two rows from the top. And then she's
getting going.

Speaker 3 (26:00):
But I didn't have enough money to buy it. I go.

Speaker 1 (26:02):
I'm just saying, if you want to, first, well, how
much money can it be to go to a Clippers game?
Come on, this is back like years ago, and again
Chris Cayman was their best player. I mean, how much
money could it really be? I mean, come on, how
much money? And she was like getting upset, and I'm like, oh, okay.

Speaker 4 (26:14):
Now you guy, your wallet shavinger.

Speaker 1 (26:16):
No, I'm just I'm just saying we just wanted to
go to a game and have a nice night out.
You'll probably, hey, cough up a buck, you cheat.

Speaker 5 (26:23):
You're always yell at me that I'm an elitist, like
youk you caught money and get down down low. So
Chris Cayman, dude, you could p cave Man would see you.

Speaker 3 (26:34):
You could probably get into those games.

Speaker 1 (26:35):
I mean again, back when Chris Cayman was the best
player on the Clippers, you could probably get that seat
for five bucks. You could probably move up fifty rows
for like ten. So I mean, really, what are you doing?
I mean really, this is when Donald.

Speaker 3 (26:47):
Sterling on the team.

Speaker 4 (26:48):
Come on, man, are we going back? Anybody trying to
take me is this is about you? When he was
an All Star?

Speaker 3 (26:54):
Yeah, this is about two thousand. This is around two
thousand and eight, two thousand nine. You the late Oughts,
late the late.

Speaker 4 (26:59):
As average eight and a half.

Speaker 3 (27:00):
Again, yeah, I'm saying that Cayman Island.

Speaker 4 (27:02):
You'd have been seven points more than his career average.

Speaker 1 (27:04):
They'd have given you auld John Dayda made you the
coach at that point. You'd be calling out plays well.

Speaker 5 (27:09):
And if it was a good design, you might have
become a designer for the Clippers. You might displaced Clipper Darryl.
I mean we may have never seen the Vulture show up.

Speaker 1 (27:20):
I will say this that the design of the shirt. Uh,
if you saw it, you would say did an adult
do that?

Speaker 3 (27:27):
Or did a kid do that? But still you just
needed they.

Speaker 5 (27:30):
Didn't have racing strike need like Homer making his nuclear.

Speaker 1 (27:36):
You needed the visual of the Cayman Island and just
have it, like, just have an island with something and
then the picture in the Clippers jersey on there or
a red, white and blue island says the Cayman Island.
That's all you needed. Really, you just needed the the idea.
You didn't need to draw it great. And luckily that
was the case because it was you know, it wasn't
really drawn that great. But uh, but I mean, look,
you set up front. You could have a god have

(27:57):
a whole new career. She could have been working for
the Clippers and could be the GM of the Clippers.
Buy now, how'd you become the GM? I want a
T shirt?

Speaker 3 (28:03):
Contest? And now the general.

Speaker 4 (28:05):
Manager obviously chucked the condor.

Speaker 5 (28:07):
But hey, you got to get in the door at
a facility somewhere, right. You got to start living the dream.
You gotta be on the grind and a well made
T shirt. Look back in the day, Canda and all
these great tools, all the AI tools that we talk about,
they weren't accessible. Being able to make your own Jerry
Jones cuts. That was a little hard at work. You

(28:28):
had to become a good impressionist and be able to sell, sell, sell. Now, Hey,
now the door to entry is really it's cracked open
for you there. So maybe that that road to GM
is still there if she's you know, up ther T
shirt game and as you say, maybe you can afford
a little better a ticket to become part of the wall.

Speaker 1 (28:51):
Exit out by the Fresco exit swallowed up. So then
to bring the story full circle, she went and sat
at the wall. As she went to the wall, and
I said, why are you not going? She goes, it's
a lot of standing, and you know she's in her
forties now, and I'm like, oh, okay, shees, so it's
a lot of standing, and I really liked I need
to sit a little bit. So I'm like, oh, okay.
So it's a stamina thing, all right, great, great, great,
you know what I mean. But maybe that's a thing.

Speaker 3 (29:11):
For the wall. Hey, prove you have better stamina than
every other fan. You'll stand the entire time in the
wall of the Glipper game.

Speaker 4 (29:18):
See not now you're shamed her that she's got no stamina.

Speaker 3 (29:21):
No, I'm just saying no.

Speaker 1 (29:22):
When you shot right and come on this from this
from someone might be firing back and you want no, no, no,
This from a guy I readily admit, Hey, I'm in
my fifties. When I go to a rock concert, what
do I want? I want to sit on the aisle
and I want to be able to be close to
where I can get food or I can go to
the bathroom, and where I can buy merchants.

Speaker 3 (29:39):
That's what I want. I want, That's what I want.
I'm not gonna be I'm gonna be in the pit
with everybody else.

Speaker 4 (29:45):
People's shoulders. Yeah, No, I want to be able to
anybody's shoulders. I want there's nothing wrong with being in
the pit.

Speaker 1 (29:51):
I want to be able to be. I want to
be able to be comfortable. I want to be I
gotta get to the bathroom. I'm gonna eat. I'm gonna
do that. No, that's a I want. I can still
enjoy the concert and still yell and scream and sing
the songs and just you know, I gotta do it
a different way.

Speaker 3 (30:01):
Now.

Speaker 1 (30:01):
It's how it works when you get you know, so
like you go to the wall. Boy, it's a lot
of standing. I really want to sit down.

Speaker 3 (30:06):
Who hurt? You really want to say? I'm just saying
it's you. I want to say, you know, we had this.

Speaker 1 (30:11):
There's a tradition at Syracuse the hell okay, the inflection.

Speaker 5 (30:14):
In its who hurt you? It sounded like genuine concern
for a second a little bit.

Speaker 1 (30:21):
There's a tradition at Syracuse and and I learned this
when I was a freshman and we still and we
still do. It is that everybody stands and claps until
the first points are scored of the game. And it's
got to be points from the floor. It can't be
a free throw. So everybody stands and claps like this
until the first time Syracuse scores, and everybody claps in
chairs and people sit down.

Speaker 4 (30:41):
So it's a sarcasm, but clap.

Speaker 1 (30:43):
There is no it's like one of those doom doom doom. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
it's a belt. It's not the golf top.

Speaker 3 (30:49):
But yeah, that's great, that's great. No, it's a boom
boom boom.

Speaker 1 (30:53):
And if they don't if nobody scores in if Syracuse
doesn't score in the first like thirty five seconds of
the game, you could just tell the whole crowd as
all of a sudden goes from yes, yes, yes to uh.

Speaker 3 (31:06):
And it's a little bit less than the club that
claps a little bit slower. I want to sit down.
Come on, I want to sit And this is when
I was like twenty years old. I'm like, I want
to sit. Let's go. Oh we miss another shot.

Speaker 4 (31:16):
Come on?

Speaker 3 (31:16):
All the balls out of bounds. Oh, they're going to
the free throw line. Come on, we got come on?

Speaker 4 (31:21):
Come on.

Speaker 1 (31:22):
So that's kind of how it works. Sometimes I understand
understand more about people. Before you point the finger at me,
point the finger at yourself. You know, every time every
time you point a finger at someone, there's four fingers
looking back pointing back at you.

Speaker 3 (31:34):
Just so you know that.

Speaker 4 (31:35):
Yeah, generally, I just get the one.

Speaker 1 (31:38):
Time now to find out what's trending in the wide
world of sports from someone who is the runner up
to be the Clippers GM. It's Manci milanhos with what's trending.

Speaker 8 (31:46):
I would leave this job to be the Clippers gym.

Speaker 4 (31:48):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (31:49):
Wow? What am I gonna tell our family?

Speaker 8 (31:51):
You know that they can come not sit on the wall.
I'll let them go to the game and be comfortable,
all right, so I don't have to stand a the ball.
You know, it does look like a lot of fun,
but it does look like like they do a lot
of work, a lot of work. It is very college,
you know, students at the game, but it does look
like a lot of fun.

Speaker 3 (32:09):
So I I and work. All of that all fun
and work, And.

Speaker 4 (32:15):
I mean I like work.

Speaker 8 (32:16):
Yeah, I just you know, you have to go in
there with the expectation that you're gonna have to stand
and do some work.

Speaker 3 (32:21):
And that's all it is.

Speaker 8 (32:22):
The Mavericks tend to do work against the Thunder. They're
up right now one nineteen to one twelve with ten
seconds to go.

Speaker 3 (32:30):
In a couple of days ago, like four games.

Speaker 8 (32:32):
Ago, the Mavericks beat the Thunder again.

Speaker 3 (32:34):
So it's all about matchups.

Speaker 8 (32:35):
So right now MAVs without Luka Dancic beating the Thunder
ten seconds to go, they'll probably pull it off. Since
they're up by seven. It's been all Bucks against the Heat,
who are playing without Jimmy Butler. One seventeen to ninety
one is the score with four minutes to go in
the fourth quarter. Damian Lillard with a triple double twenty
nine points, ten rebounds and eleven assists. Nicola Jokic with

(32:55):
a triple double, the seventeen points, fifteen rebounds, eleven assists.

Speaker 4 (32:59):
Nugget.

Speaker 8 (33:00):
It's just crushing the Kings ninety one to seventy five
with five minutes to go in the third early in
the second court. In the second quarter, the Warriors are
now losing to the Bulls thirty seven to thirty six.
They just scored the Lakers with a couple of nice
buckets and they're beating the Celtics after the first quarter
thirty four to twenty three. The Trailblazers took down the
match still.

Speaker 3 (33:18):
On True TV. Move over now it moved over. I
think all the complaints. Yeah, they listened because.

Speaker 8 (33:24):
Ernie Johnson has a video and he's literally like this
game was going to start on True TV and it didn't.

Speaker 3 (33:29):
They moved and said, hey, absolutely, practical joker Marathon.

Speaker 4 (33:34):
Literally need exactly.

Speaker 8 (33:36):
So no, they put the Bucks game over on True TV,
and they officially put the Lakers and the Celtics on TNT.
The reason all that happened is because the Bucks were
late when they traveled out of New Orleans because of
the snowstorm that had been happening.

Speaker 3 (33:49):
So that's what happened there.

Speaker 8 (33:51):
NBA All Star starters have been announced. I know you
were talking about it so excited to Nick's out of
the East, Donovan Mitchell, Jalen Brunson, Jason Tatum, Santa Toakompo,
who led all players in fan voting, by the way,
and Carl Anthony Towns out of the West, Shay Gilges,
Alexander Steph Curry, who apparently edged out Luka doncic Lebron
James to his twenty first All Star Game, Kevin Durant

(34:12):
his fifteenth All Star.

Speaker 3 (34:13):
Game, and Nicola Jokich.

Speaker 8 (34:15):
Diana Russini Rusinia of The Athletic tweeted this about twenty
ish minutes ago that Liam Cohen is expected to be
named the next head coach of the Jaguars, pending final negotiations.

Speaker 3 (34:27):
Oasis, it seems that way.

Speaker 8 (34:30):
That's the way that she tweeted us about twenty minutes ago,
So it's not official official, but it seems like that's happening.

Speaker 3 (34:36):
So exciting there.

Speaker 8 (34:37):
Let's just check in to see if Alexovechkin has scored
for the Capitals on the ice, since he's you know,
about to break possibly the all time scoring record no
scoreless Capitals and Krakens scoreless late in the first period.

Speaker 3 (34:47):
Okay, back to you guys, thanks a bunch of monsters, Jess,
Jason Smith, Mike Harbon locked in the Tirak dot com studios.

Speaker 1 (34:53):
Coming up next, It looks like an NFL playoff team
is ready to make a big change at quarterback.

Speaker 3 (35:01):
What is it? We'll tell you next, Jason to Mike Fox.

Speaker 7 (35:05):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific. Big game coverage just presented by ol Tesla
oh Preblast. This is football's biggest moment under the lights,
on the screen, where we come together to celebrate the

(35:25):
best of the best. This is more than a game.

Speaker 4 (35:28):
Be there, Fox.

Speaker 1 (35:31):
Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with my best friend
Mike Harmon. Believe it or not, it looks like one
NFL playoff team that was a hair's breadth away from
playing for the conference championship is ready to make a
change of quarterback.

Speaker 3 (35:49):
Well, how do I know this?

Speaker 1 (35:51):
Because of what was said today by Rams head coach
Sean McVay after the Rams got eliminated. Matthew Stafford admitted
that he always playing with with bad ribs, banged up ribs,
and you know he still was able to have a
really good back half of the season, and you think
that Matthew Stafford is he still makes incredible throws. Okay,
Stafford's gonna be somebody's gonna come back next year. The

(36:12):
Rams reload on the fly, and then you want Stafford
talking about how, yeah, I gotta make my decision. He
was asked, do you think you have a lot of
football left? He said, Oh, kind of looks like it.
Wait a minute, what's going on? Well, if you look
at Matthew Stafford's contract, he only has four million dollars
guaranteed for this year. He's probably doing another like he

(36:33):
did a year ago. Another Hey, I don't know. I'm
sitting here thinking I need more money, and Sean McVay
is not having it. Sean McVeigh said today at his
end of season news conference that he hopes there's clarity
sooner than later this offseason on Matthew Stafford and the
quotes he said tell me that they're ready to move

(36:54):
on that We're not going to negotiate. We're not gonna
add more money to your deal. We're not gonna give
you two more years and guarantee all this. You're either
back for next year or we're moving on and we
are ready to make that move.

Speaker 3 (37:06):
Quote.

Speaker 1 (37:06):
We don't want after that that go on again like
what happened last year, getting more money. I don't think
that's good for anybody. There's a lot of love coming
from our part, a lot of appreciation coming from his part.
I think a lot sooner than later is an ideal scenario.
When he was asked if he would be the starting
quarterback next year if he came back, Sean mcvaigh said, quote,
we'll talk about all those things at the appropriate time.

Speaker 3 (37:27):
Like the Rams.

Speaker 1 (37:28):
This is why the Rams win, because the Rams are
not afraid to reload on the fly the way that
they've been able to do the last fears. Oh, Todd
Gurley's a big superstar built around it. Nope, we're done.
We're moving on. Jared Goff, we're stuck with him. Note
we're moving on. We're getting other quarterback. They bring guys
in and they know when it's time to move on.
And Matthew Stafford really is in his last yearish of

(37:49):
potentially being the Rams quarterback, and the Rams are ready
to go. You can tell Sean, this is not a Hey,
we love you, Matthew. Take all the time you want
come back, Because if that was the case, that's what
he'd be saying, Hey, Matthew's got a big decision to
make and we need to give him some space and
all this he was banged up, all this stuff. That's
what he'd be saying. If this really was a Matthew's
got to take his time and let us know what

(38:09):
he thinks. It'd be a lot of love there. But instead,
right away, we want to know, sooner rather than later,
what are you doing, what's happening, what we're not gonna
go by this last year. I'm throwing the gauntlet down
right now. They are ready to move on from Matthew Stafford.
They are ready to go. They'll make a big move
and they'll say we still feel we are just as
good as we were, and we'll read and we'll reboot
a quarterback. Usually you don't rebooted quarterback, but the Rams

(38:31):
have shown we change on the fly and do this
better than anybody in the history of the game. We're
able to say, blank those picks and blank that salary cap,
and we continue to find a way to do it,
and we'll do it at quarterback. They are saying, we
are ready to move on to our next quarterback, and
I guarantee you they have their guy in mind. They
know if this does, Matthew Stafford's got to give us

(38:53):
this answer because if not, this is what we're going
to do.

Speaker 3 (38:56):
They are ready for another quarterback.

Speaker 5 (39:00):
He's got a four million dollar roster bonus, but no
other guaranteed money. As you said about a fifty million
dollar cap hit. But the way it works when you
talk about trades or cuts posts June first, there's ways
to save money on that side of things, but you
also are hamstrung if he's not in the building and
not around the facilities and hanging out with his family,

(39:21):
which is his right.

Speaker 4 (39:22):
They've gone through a lot.

Speaker 5 (39:23):
It's well chronicled that you know, if it's time to
walk away for your own health, your own family, whatever,
then let us know, or we're gonna have to let
you know sooner rather than let it because we can't
be hamstrung. Right, you had all the issues with injuries,
but also part of it was he wasn't at the facilities,
and when you're watching every game you're playing in your

(39:47):
quarterback has no mobility, and you see how vital it
is for the success of all of these teams that
are still playing and those that you're trying to plan
against having a guy who's year high for rush is
eighteen on one broken play because nobody thought there was
a chance in hell he would run the football in
that game. That you know, you've got to move on

(40:10):
and adapt your offense going forward. You got a lot
of young component parts on both sides of the ball.
It's time to go get a quarterback that grows and
can age and mature with them.

Speaker 1 (40:20):
Yeah, and when you hear things like, you know, Matthew
Stafford's wife make a little bit of allusion to all,
you know, the love from the Rams. We'll see how
much they love us, and you know certain just vibes
you get out of this, it's like, yeah, I don't
know that the Matthew Stafford Sean McVay thing is as sunshine,
lollipops and rainbows as people say it is. It's more
of the respect of look at what he's continuing to
do at thirty six, thirty seven, but judging, but just

(40:42):
look at today. Sean McVay is saying, we're ready to
move on. Are you coming back? If you're coming back,
you're coming back and we're not gonna go crazy giving
you all the sext amount we're not doing. If you're
coming back, coming back. If not, we're ready to move on,
and they're pushing him because they want to move on.
I'm not gonna be surprised if it's a new star
ish quarterback playing for the Rams next year. That looks
like what they want to do. Coming up next, we

(41:02):
got more from the NFL MVP finals have been announced,
but the real MVP isn't on the list.

I started this podcast 5 years ago to invite you into conversations and workshops that are designed to help make you happier, healthier and more healed. I believe that when you (yes you) feel seen, heard and understood you’re able to deal with relationship struggles, work challenges and life’s ups and downs with more ease and grace. I interview experts, celebrities, thought leaders and athletes so that we can grow our mindset, build better habits and uncover a side of them we’ve never seen before. New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose. I can’t wait for you to listen to your first or 500th episode!
