(00:52):
we got more in the AFC and NFC Championship games
coming up in about twenty minutes, including the we'll answer
the biggest question coming off the Championship Sunday. But today
was really owned by the different teams who had their
new press conferences introducing their head coaches right four different cities. Yeah,
it was great, right, It was like you bounce around

(01:12):
watching TV during the day was great. Today he got
to see whatever happened that was with the Jacksonville Jaguars
and Liam Cohen and Duvall saying so scary, it's gonna
give me nightmares for a month. But one thing we
haven't gotten to yet, because this gets into a bigger topic,
is when Aaron Glenn introduced his head coach of the
Jets today. Aaron glennon, Aaron Burr, Aaron Glinn. No, and

(01:41):
I already could see the there's only room for one
era and in New York now and it's Aaron Glenn.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
You can tell he'd been in New York already in
his career.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
Well yeah, well look he was the best choice, right,
he was the best choice, not that he's the most
locked down. Had had had choice, did we had? You
gotta go get him. But this, this is a guy
who played there in the nineties, played Underwoody Johnson, understands
New York and it's what that's his dream job. Wait,
I mean I feel like I'm live on Mars the

(02:09):
last two years where Aaron Rodgers is saying the last
two years of the jetsmen the best years of my career.
I'm dying of the jets of my dream job. I'm like,
this is insane. But that's that's why Aaron Glenn is
the best choice. He wants someone that's gonna set a
culture that understands New York at all of these things.
Doesn't mean he didn't get a little testy in the
press conference because he's dead.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
He he's asked a lot of questions.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
We'll get to the Aaron Rodgers part, because there's real
interesting stuff about Aaron Rodgers. But uh, he got I
don't want to say he got sick and tired of
a lot of questions, but at one point he wanted
to let everybody know just exactly what was gonna happen
with him taking over in New York.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
Dude, Mary, come on, you can't skid me like that.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
Come on, you kind of go that scale.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
No, that's actually the new coach of the Jaguars, Boris Karloff.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
Every time that happens, I look up to see if
there's a you know, I'm picturing like the Mentors and
Harry Potter like flying around Liam cull that's so scary.
What's he all?

Speaker 3 (03:07):
All?

Speaker 4 (03:07):
Right?

Speaker 3 (03:07):
Now, you've seen the animation with Carolina and the panther
coming off the scoreboard. That could work something in in Jacksonville.
I look in the studios.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
Here there's a ghost in the studio yelling Duval. It's
the ghost mark for l But here's Aaron Glenn not
being happy with some questions and wanting everybody to know.
This is who the Jets are. This is what we're
gonna do. Players, that's here.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
Now, put your seatbelts on and get ready for the ride.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
Put your seatbeltszon and get ready for the ride.

Speaker 3 (03:39):
Listen.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
There are gonna be some challenges, but which challenges becomes
opportunity gets opportunity.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
But here's what I do know.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
We're the freaking New York Jets, so we're bill.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
For the.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
A Yeah, Aaron Glenn, Yeah, you go get it, Aaron Glenn.

Speaker 3 (03:55):
We're the New York Jets and we're built for this blank.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
I love that.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
Today.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
We may not win again the rest of the year,
but we won today with that fan Wednesday.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
This is how bad the fan base has been looking
at the product because this is a win for them.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
Yeah, today it is.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
It was a win.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
We hired him, and it's a win today, maybe the
last win we have.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
But you know it's a win. If they had hired
Rex Ryan, wouldn't that have been today an entertaining press county?

Speaker 1 (04:23):
It was a win in twenty ten, No, I.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
Mean it would have been an entertaining press count Yeah, yeah,
it would have been entertaining press conference would have been Yeah,
sure it would have been.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
But I mean, but win today. But Aaron Glenn is
a new kind of fun. Like, like I said, okay,
this is you know what it is like? Bringing Rex
Ryan back is like when they brought Billy Crystal back
to host the Oscars after all those years he was done.
I was like, oh, this was kind of cool, but yeah, boy,
it's really dated. Ah really, well really this is so
nineties right now. And okay, all right, I get it.
We're gonna make fun of all the best pictures and
all this.

Speaker 3 (04:51):
In other words, we should have had Aaron Glenn do
that little song and dance and work every player's name
into the song lyrics like Billy Crystal's classic years ago
at the Oscars.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
He would do Rodgers and Hammerstein. How about you hammer
and get a new quarterback? How about we do that?
But like, look, I love the bravado he comes in
with you very deon Sanders, like you hear the hear
the bravado in his speech and very much it's us
against the world, and I dig that, and I so
dig that. It's exactly what they need now.

Speaker 3 (05:18):
Actually it's just been them against the NFL, and that
hasn't gone well. No, I was gonna work.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
Why not, right, Like, if we can't beat the NFL,
just add on the world. Why does it matter? Right,
It's like I'm trying to cut calories, but I had
this big piece of chocolate cake, So I have two pieces.
If you're breaking the diet, break it wide open, man,
have two big pieces of chocolate.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
You know, at least I'll give one point to the
new coach, Aaron Glenn of the Jets, because he did
not do the sala. We're taking names, the type of thing.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
Oh yeah, I got receipts. We got receipts.

Speaker 3 (05:46):
Okay, yeah, I don't believe those were ever cashed in.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
There's no receipt The Jets don't have receipts for anything.
They can't return anything. They're just stuck with what they have.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
I believe. When Salad just showed up with the Niners again,
back to his old job, he pulled receipt, have to
receipt out of his pocket. Do anything with this? I
get anything with this five cents. This is like a
turning in the empty can.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
Right.

Speaker 3 (06:08):
No, No, So don't talk like that. You haven't done
anything yet, Jets.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
I'd like to return this. Alan Mazard cont No, you're
stuck with him. You have you have a receipt. No,
I don't. You're stuck with that. They'll be with him.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
There'll be plenty more you're stuck with if you actually
bring Rogers back.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
But that's the thing is right away, like Aaron Glenn
jumped a question like I know you're gonna ask about
Aaron Rodgers. Everybody said, everybody is under consideration. I already
had a text message. I've talked with Aaron Rodgers, Buddy,
Joe Flacker talk with it. Ye, Joe Flacker was sure.
Joe Namath everybody's under consideration, and he said everybody, every
position when you're an offensive tackle. Hackenberg he may come

(06:43):
back next year, you never know. I think the Jets
are still paying him. I think he hasn't finished his
contract yet. I think he was signed to a special
fifteen year second round contract.

Speaker 3 (06:51):
So Bobby Bedia could be quarterback, and then she said, so,
how do you feel Bobby still under contract better than
Aaron Rodgers?

Speaker 1 (06:57):
But but stop make me play duvall for you. So
the thing is is that he has said Aaron Rodgers
under consideration and we'll figure it out at another time,
which is the right answer to give, because this is
about the what about a decision for Janie, Like you're
gonna say, oh, yeah, yeah, like he's done or oh yeah,
yeah he's back, Like no, that's not gonna happen. They're

(07:17):
gonna go through things. But I'm telling you, I'm tripling
down that he is going to be back, and I
know that it today seems difficult. I've been telling you
this for a for a few weeks now that there's
a bunch of different reasons if he if they really
wanted him gone, Woody Johnson would say he's gone. He
even said today, I'm leaving this up to the coach
in the GM right. You know, you know muchI got

(07:39):
involved the same thing, which was new Yeah right, okay,
Really he said, I got to do a better job
as an owner. Great, So that means I guess you
know your son doesn't make decisions anymore. So he even said,
look there, it's it's these guys decision. They know they
need a bridge quarterback, right, they're not going in, they're
not picking very early. They have Jordan Travis in the

(07:59):
quarterback room. This is a year to get your quarterback
in the second or third round. Right. If you're not
picking one or two or three, you're not getting Schador
Sanders or cam Wards.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
And it's not a great quarterback draft. This is it
last year. So even a forty one year old can
be right.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
Well, that's the thing is that the guy you're drafting
is going to be someone who's gonna need a little
bit of time. This is the year to in the
second or third round draft Kyle McCord or Jalen Milroe
or Jackson Dart and see if they become something. So
now the Jets fill their quarterback room because Ordan Travis
is a great prospect. He's still coming back off that
season ending injury with Florida State. So you have that,
you have a guy you're gonna draft.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
I heard Florida State was undefeated with him.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
They were, they were, it was, and apparently he had
nothing to do with the fact they didn't get done.

Speaker 3 (08:40):
No, how did they not get picked for the visit
that I.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
Mean apparently Jordan Travis was the entire Florida State program's right,
because they just fell off a cliff.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
It's kind of like Iowa women's basketball this year.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
Well, I was what they thirteen and seven something like that?
Not bad.

Speaker 3 (08:56):
I think it's three and seven in conference? Is six
going into I'm a thirteen to seven overall?

Speaker 4 (09:02):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (09:02):
Actually, I think they get to play Harmon's Northwestern tomorrow.
So there's your okay, oh, okay, okay, it'll be four.
The win is in.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
So you know that you're gonna draft of quarterback of
the future. Who are you going to get if I'm
because it was like, okay, no, Aaron Rodgers, who are
you gonna get who's coming in here for a year.
You're not bringing Sam Darnold back and he's the number
one guy that could be out there. It's not happening.
Who are you bringing back? Wilson? As you saw, he
still may come back and get back at the backup,
Please God, let the string is that? Who else are

(09:32):
you gonna get from someone who knows the personnel, knows
the offense, and as he saw the end of the
year you had bigger problems than Aaron Rodgers. I'm coming
around to the fact that just maybe being forty forty
one years old coming off that Achilles tear, he needed
more time to get back to being the quarterback he was.
And you look at tape of him from the last

(09:53):
four weeks. For the first four weeks, he is not skittish,
he's not holding on, he's not throwing the ball early.
He is a quarterback, right so now still not great,
but still a guy that finished in the top ten touchdowns,
top ten in yards. They have bigger problems than Aaron Rodgers.
So if you need a get by quarterback anyway, which
you're going, you're gonna need a bridge quarterback anyway. And

(10:14):
he knows fully I have no cash anymore. It's either
the Jets are nowhere. Right.

Speaker 3 (10:18):
So if you've said one of the problems, bigger problems
was the coach, so they hired a coach. So yeah,
that's a conference today.

Speaker 1 (10:24):
Who gets to come in And basically, if you bring
Rogers back next year as the coach in the GM,
it's a free year because if things don't work out
and Aaron Rodgers stinks, then okay, we're moving on to
our quarterback. And that's the first year that you're really
gonna be judged because we tried with Aaron Rodgers last year.
It didn't really work. I know they want a fresh

(10:44):
start and Aaron Glenn coming in, new GM, new head coach,
fresh start, but really, if they're smart, it's okay, is
it worth it to bring back to rod Taylor to
have him start and we don't know what we're gonna
get or Aaron Rodgers for one more year he redoes
his contract. There's less money if you get rid of
Aaron Rodgers. It's like sixty five million dollars a dead
cat money. And he has already said I will restructure

(11:06):
to stay, So you'll restructure'll he said, I'll take less
money to stay. Actions I'll take less. So it works.
He's making it work. The Jets know it works. I
get it. But you will have a chance to get
your new quarterback in there. And anytime a GM and
a head coach can see something and say it's a
free year, they'll take it, right. Okay, Well, so I'm
not going to be judged this year. Yeah. If Aaron
Rodgers thinks they're getting all the blame. Oh okay, great,

(11:27):
So we can spend this year trying to retool the
roster with what we need, and there's still a lot
of talent on the roster, and then hey, next year
we can hit the ground running, or if we catch
lightning in a bottle, we accelerate our learning curve. So
it's a it makes sense all the way around. And
I know that everybody wants to just shovel dirt and
say he's gone, he's gone, he's gone, But I'm telling
you for the last month he's gonna come back. He's

(11:47):
going to be starting week one for the New York
Jets next year.

Speaker 3 (11:50):
And they were five and twelve, But I will give
them kudos in that they had a starting quarterback who
actually played every game. So there were a lot of
losses in there. You're right, some of the late games
we're not as bad as some of the earlier games.
But it is something that when you had a quarterback
that's forty that was injured so quickly in his first
year there actually wound up playing every game.

Speaker 1 (12:10):
Yeah, and and as the season went on, you can
look in early on and say, okay, well, a couple
of really bad miss field goals by Greg zerline or
their record would have been flipped. In the first five
or six weeks. A pass caught they won at Duvall game.
Yeah they want to do Yeah, well that was mac Jones.
We had to win that one. But like as the
season went on, the offense and Aaron Rodgers became less
and less of a problem, and the other problems became

(12:32):
the offensive line, the defensive line. The defense was not
what it was. So now you spend all this time
making the defense great. Now you need to retool it.
So with all of these changes need to happen, Like,
why are you gonna say, let's bring in another quarterback.
I mean it's not like Aaron Rodgers has any real
power with the organization, not like it was two years
ago where he comes in. He's gone with that now
he has been so much. He has been, he has been.

(12:54):
He's gone from Aaron Rodgers to look, I'm just there.
I'm just a quarterback here. I'll take less money. I
will mentor a young quarterback I will do. I just
want to keep it going, right, I just want to
It's like it's that scene from Moneyball where either either
Mooji or Aaron Glenn has to walk in. Aaron Rodgers say, listen,
let's be honest. What each of us watch from each other?
When when when Billy.

Speaker 3 (13:13):
Beanell GM they just hired.

Speaker 1 (13:15):
When Billy Bean goes.

Speaker 3 (13:16):
In and tell Dave Justice, hey, let's say mujie. They
thought you were talking about a new candy they were
unaware of. It's that.

Speaker 1 (13:21):
It's that frozen chocolate ice cream you get when you
go out for sushi. They give you Mucci. At the
end is to say, listen, let's be honest what you
watch from each other. I want to milk every ounce
of baseball you have left in you and you want
to stay in the show like and that's what it is.
Er Aaron Glenn will say, listen, let's be honest. I
want to milk every oun ounce of football you have
left in and you want to stay in the NFL?

(13:42):
Can you draw a walk? You want us to walk more?
Good question? Yes. So when it comes to that, you
can see Rogers is not the I'm calling the shots
guy that he was even a year ago. He knows
he's hanging on to his NFL life by a thread.
So yes, he's going to be very open to anything.
And because I think that there's another team that's gonna
want him out there. No, it's the Jets or nowhere

(14:04):
it's the Jets, or he's retiring from the NFL. That
those are his two choices, he'll be better. Well, it's
like it's one state. It's like one foot out the door.
It's not no, it's like it's like one foot out.
It's like when you're leaving your house and you have
one foot out the door in the grave and you
and you're pulling. Come on now, it's not getting morbid
on it.

Speaker 3 (14:20):
We've seen the Jets.

Speaker 1 (14:21):
You got one foot out the door and you're pulling
the door showing that's what it is. He's not wrong,
it's it's it's still in the games are still tellable
as long as the games are televised.

Speaker 3 (14:30):
Well, that's because the NFL contract involves to literally every team.

Speaker 1 (14:34):
They split it. Even if the Jets gates ever go
to NBA TV, I will know there's a problem, right

failed America by failing to beat the Chiefs, who have
now become the absolute villains.

Speaker 3 (16:55):
Not an overstatement there, but okay.

Speaker 1 (16:57):
With officials making questionable call going the Chiefs questionable? Yeah,
every questionable call goes the Chiefs way questionable. It's quite questionable. Yes,
are you sure you.

Speaker 3 (17:07):
Want to say that? I just said I'm questionable. That
you're saying questionable, I think.

Speaker 1 (17:11):
You're questionable as an employee. How about that got dark craft? Uh?

Speaker 3 (17:19):
By the way, some are saying that Mike Krzyzewski is
now the Chiefs head coach, that literally every call is
going to them so much that they are looking at
the sidelines to see if he dressed in blue is
somehow there?

Speaker 2 (17:30):
All right?

Speaker 1 (17:31):
Look, coach k sysn't all right? That's great? And then
pretty soon he's going to repplacing Andy Reid and those commercials.

Speaker 3 (17:37):
It's just I don't know. I like Andy Reid humor
and I can't believe that can be replaced.

Speaker 1 (17:42):
About some of those nuggies me, some of those nuggies, Huh.

Speaker 3 (17:45):
I don't see a coach like a cheeseburger guy.

Speaker 1 (17:47):
Honestly see coach King with a mustache. Bundle bundle of
bundle Ruski, Bundle Ruski. But before we get to the bills, Uh,
we we have to play this from Steven Jones. We
actually have a Stephen Jones quote. We have to play it,
non co owner of the Cowboys, Stephen Jones. Yeah, Steven's here.
He's going to say some things. The Cowboys had their

(18:09):
press conference today and they introduced Brian Schottenheimer. We will
hear from Jerry Jones next hour on the show. We talked.

Speaker 3 (18:14):
I mean, it's just and it was nothing but flowers
and celebration for a full hour in Dallas.

Speaker 1 (18:19):
Yeah. I don't know what's going on. I don't know
what like Dallas even trying to win. But we'll get
to that.

Speaker 3 (18:25):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (18:25):
Here's Stephen Jones, who is upset that people have been
critical of the Cowboys' success. You know, there's been a
you know, the Cowboys have been on a thirty year
quote drought for Super Bowls. Right, they have a one
since nineteen ninety five. Here we are in twenty twenty five. Yeah,
the Cowboys are on a drought. Stephen Jones using air
quotes for the word drought. Wants you to know that

(18:46):
there's no drought the cowboys are. I mean, just because
people are saying it doesn't mean we have one.

Speaker 4 (18:52):
You know in terms of you know, this drought that
people say we're in in terms of a championship game
or a super Bowl, and you know, we just have
to continue to make this.

Speaker 1 (19:01):
Uh people say this, dut No, you haven't won in
thirty years, you haven't been to a super Bowl in
thirty years. You're judged by super bowls or not in Dallas. No,
that's a drought, man. We don't have droughts in the
state of Texas. What are you Thirty years is like
a complete weather shift. It's not even a drought anymore.
It's like, dude, the weather change man, this is now
the new weather pattern.

Speaker 3 (19:22):
I'm glad you played that exact quote because what made
it worse.

Speaker 1 (19:26):
With the air quotes when he did around drought, this drought.

Speaker 3 (19:28):
Oh, there's so many rout dude, somebody levels of worse
on this too. The air quotes as if it's an opinion. Second,
this drought that people say we're in, yeah.

Speaker 1 (19:38):
Yeah, yeah, yea yeah, Like, how can you talk around
it like, what, I'm sorry, what success are you pointing
to for super Bowl?

Speaker 3 (19:44):
Making it worse. He didn't just say we haven't won
a super Bowl since Troy Aikman. Of course that's been
thirty years. But he says in terms of a championship
game or a Super Bowl, does he not realize Please
tell me he realizes this that literally every other team
in the NFC has now made the NFC Championship Game

(20:05):
since the Cowboys last made the edit.

Speaker 1 (20:07):
You want to say this is a drought as far
as super Bowls or confidence game, divisional playoff games or
wild card playoff.

Speaker 3 (20:15):
Games in fifteen years for any other NFC team.

Speaker 1 (20:18):
Right division titles, winning seasons, this drought. You say, we're.

Speaker 3 (20:23):
Washington for crime out loud. Just made the NFC championship game.

Speaker 1 (20:26):
Every other team has made.

Speaker 3 (20:27):
Now, this is not a drought that what people say.
We're in speaking from a news desk, these are just facts.
Bub This is you know, this is the NFL history.
Look up your own history.

Speaker 1 (20:38):
Cowboys, everybody it's a cowboy when you we can't even
admit there's a problem.

Speaker 3 (20:42):
This drought, that's the problem. Is any area of life,
isn't that the first problem. We haven't been able to
admit there's a problem.

Speaker 1 (20:49):
If I haven't done something in thirty years, I know
I'm not really good at it. I know I'm not
I know I know I'm not really good. Thirty years,
not a year, not a couple of thirty years have gone,
like nineteen ninety five. Just because you walk by all
the Super Bowl trophy doesn't mean it was yesterday. It
still means it's thirty years out of.

Speaker 3 (21:09):
Which were one in this stadium.

Speaker 1 (21:10):
Just for the rest thirty years ago when they used
to have a show. Now it's a disco, but not
for Lola. Think about how long it was in Copa Cabana.

Speaker 3 (21:17):
It was long.

Speaker 1 (21:18):
Thirty years is a long time. She drinks herself half blind.
She's so refined.

Speaker 3 (21:23):
There are so many missteps with Jerry Jones running this franchise,
and people could say, yeah, because he didn't have Jimmy
Johnson as coach anymore, Okay, I'll give him a pass
on that one. But then when you hired Barry Switzer
and I'm.

Speaker 1 (21:36):
Still one you still want.

Speaker 3 (21:38):
Unfortunately for the history of the team, they won one,
and then he really thought I can do this the
rest of my life. I don't need a real coach
in here. I don't need discipline, I don't need whatever. Yeah, well,
I think the last thirty years have now proven that
whatever you've been trying does not work. And the problem
with you personally, I'm not saying as an owner of

(21:59):
the team you personally is that you don't have anyone
in your life that checks you. And this has proven
when your own son, who's co owner of this failure
of a team, did you not see them play, especially
those who had home season tickets this past year? He
cannot even admit that they are in a drought. See

(22:19):
here's right, Here's here's where I think you're wrong.

Speaker 1 (22:21):
Though. I think I think I think it kind of
went like this, Like after Jerry Jones did his press conference,
he said, Steven, so I look kind of silly up
there that didn't really get when explaining stuff. So I
need you to look worse. Okay, so people stop talking
about me. If you say something stupid like we're not
in a drought, like I ignore the last thirty years

(22:42):
something like that. Say something crazy like that, and then
that'll take the pressure off me because this is still
my team and I know you want in narrative.

Speaker 3 (22:49):
That would be like the governor of California at some
point in the last decade saying, no drought, there's no
drought here. We're not in a drought.

Speaker 2 (22:55):
Were good.

Speaker 3 (22:56):
It's like Leslie Nielson and police squad. Nothing to see
as the building explodes.

Speaker 1 (23:01):
Behind the Pacific Ocean is right here, We're fine.

Speaker 3 (23:03):
The lander is returned to your homes and houses of worship.
There is nothing to say here people. And as far
as the Dallas Cowboy, yeah, you're correct, there's nothing to
see here.

Speaker 1 (23:13):
Listen just to look worse than I do, and I
won't forget it. Okay, that's great. We have Do we
have more air quotes from Stived Yeah, let's have more
air quotes from Stephen Jones, just.

Speaker 5 (23:22):
Like, well, maybe I don't look the part, I'm not spelled,
I don't look comfortable on camera.

Speaker 1 (23:34):
You know why that's good too, because that's from thirty
years ago, years ago.

Speaker 3 (23:41):
You know, if he on Saturday Night Live interviewed Jerry Jones,
he'd just be saying, remember thirty years ago you wanted Tom.

Speaker 1 (23:48):
When the Super Bowl, and now these guys are in
their sixties.

Speaker 3 (23:53):
That was cool, that was really cool. Can we just
repeat from this season. This past season, the guy who
was the quarterback of those Super Bowl teams made sure
to say on camera, as you were looking for this coach,
I really don't agree with the premise that this is
a sought after job anymore.

Speaker 1 (24:15):
Well, when you know not, when no one big is
getting it, how big sought after job can it be
we're seeking after it? Yeah, it's no not. You couldn't
talk to anybody. Is there more Fraunt? We have more
Stephen Jones? Okay, let's have some more Stephen Jones.

Speaker 3 (24:28):
I'm not savvy.

Speaker 2 (24:31):
I don't understand what's going on in.

Speaker 3 (24:34):
The news with with air quotes at appropriate place and
that is not AI Stephen Jones.

Speaker 1 (24:40):
That is that is not AI. That is that is.

Speaker 3 (24:44):
So he had to go way way back way farley
bag to find something.

Speaker 1 (24:49):
I love how it's an opinion drought. Yeah, yeah, in
your opinion. That's like your opinion, man, exactly. But you
haven't won a third am I missing a Super Bowl?
So Stephen, let me see the calendar in your office.
What is it? What does it say for achievements at
the end of the year, Like, what what was the
calendar still says nineteen ninety five.

Speaker 3 (25:08):
Yes, it does, I mean.

Speaker 1 (25:09):
I mean, is it is?

Speaker 2 (25:10):
It?

Speaker 1 (25:10):
Is it the winning the end of the year when
it says, hey, the list comes out, Hey, most most
valuable franchise in sports, Dallas Cowboys. We won again. We
won again. It doesn't matter, we don't need it. We
won again.

Speaker 3 (25:20):
We wanted In the past five years, well six now
they've had three of the six seasons without a winning record,
So I know they could keep saying, you know that,
Mike McCarthy, that was twelve wins every year and in
the playoffs you did what exactly? The answer is one
and three in the three years they were out quickly.

(25:41):
And let's not forget that zoo of a home playoff
game a year ago when they had been undefeated at
home and looked like they couldn't stop you and me
on the field with the defense Jordan Love.

Speaker 1 (25:52):
Jordan Love got two hundred and fifty million dollars off
of that game.

Speaker 3 (25:56):
This is this is a team that you know, a
couple of years earlier, literally would had not made the playoffs,
the Packers because there was no seventh slot in the
NFC back then, and instead they score about fifty points at.

Speaker 1 (26:09):
Dallas, thank you, but it also look it also took
to Bcry. It also isn't his fault that suddenly Dak
Prescott sucks in the playoffs, because that's what happened as well.
The last of those playoff losses were so bad and
he was so bad.

Speaker 3 (26:21):
Does there were some injuries this past year. I'll go
with all of that. But back to the front office,
which is Jerry Jones. The problem for years what the
Cowboys has been the owner needs to fire the GM
and we know that's never gonna happen. So you think
one of the answers at your running backs? But is
Ezekiel Elliott. I feel going into this draft that the
Cowboys are going to quote luck out at running back,

(26:44):
just like they did with Zeke after Ohio State won
a championship a decade ago. As soon as that draft
choice was made, I thought, how did nobody else draft
him before? Dallas is going to get something out of this.
What if Ashton Genty from Boise State is still available
there and the Boys or what not in the top ten,
but he'll still be a first rounder perhaps and boom,
there's your running back.

Speaker 1 (27:05):
But let me tell you the strategy. I had with
bringing Zeke back. I'm glad you asked me about it. Uh.
So I watched that. I watched a substance movie with
the Demi Moore, and uh, I saw that that was about, Hey,
you could just uh uh take take a pill and
take an injection and give birth to a younger version
of yourself. So I thought that was real. I didn't

(27:25):
know it wasn't a documentary. So I thought we could
do that. So I got Zeke in and Zeke said,
I'm not doing it. I said, well, but this is
how we're doing. We're gonna get a younger version of you.

Speaker 2 (27:33):
All.

Speaker 3 (27:33):
You got to jump jump in the red kettle and
you'll cut out a new man. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (27:37):
That it did work, and so we got that. We
got the Zeke who was who was done running. So
uh uh that was my fault because I thought that
was I thought we could. I thought the whole substance thing.
Now we're gonna try it with the owner. Went to
try to go find it and just looking for to
me more and undy edibles wore off. I realized I
was watching g I Jane. That was a yeah, that
was a tough that I didn't didn't know and it was,
it was then it was, it was was in A

(27:58):
Few Good Men a little bit too. She was a
lawyer and then she was a then gen she was
in that the Fire movie. With the rest of everybody else.

Speaker 3 (28:06):
That everything I've thought of in this front office has
been an indecent proposal.

Speaker 1 (28:11):
Now we do have one more Stephen Jones. I believe
we have what one more Stephen Jones Frostpert, let's have it.

Speaker 3 (28:16):
I'm not likable.

Speaker 5 (28:18):
I don't get along with people.

Speaker 1 (28:26):
That was actually from Adam Gase's press conference with the Jets.
That's what that's it was not Now I didn't see
any tacos flying. Oh that is true, but well tomorrow
would be Tuesday, so it would be Taco Tuesday if
that happened tomorrow, maybe that Lebron. Let's find out what's
trending in the wide world of sports, especially delivery. Steve
de Seger delivers us from Stephen Jones. But you need

(28:48):
to have at least one word Stephen every game you
recap an air quotes in air quotes, one word in
air quotes, like when you say Grizzlies, that's compeded against
the Knicks to I, because they really did be accurate.

Speaker 3 (29:02):
I can give it for the first one because the
Washington Wizards are a quote NBA team, and they took
the court in Dallas tonight had lost their fourteenth.

Speaker 1 (29:12):
Game in a row.

Speaker 3 (29:13):
MAVs beat him. Appropriate we start in Dallas, MAVs beat
him one thirty to one O eight. That's a winning
team in Dallas. By the way, Washington's record eight. What
was the what was the scorer after the first quarter
of that game?

Speaker 1 (29:24):
Score?

Speaker 3 (29:25):
It was actually only after about eight minutes.

Speaker 1 (29:27):
What was the score?

Speaker 3 (29:27):
It was Dallas twenty eight to seven.

Speaker 1 (29:30):
We were winning twenty eight seven. Just think about that,
Cowboys fans, a Dallas team winning in January at the
end of the first quarter twenty eight to seven. Now
it was basketball, not football. But just think about that
and close your eyes and just end. Don't think about
Schottenheimer call the place.

Speaker 3 (29:45):
Not only a big lead, but let's just say that
MAVs didn't go for two tonight. Mccervin Klay Thompson in
the first quarter three point range, seven of ten for
twenty one points. He finished with twenty three points in
the game. Washington's record six thirty nine. Utah is ten
and thirty four after losing at home to Milwaukee, won
twenty five to one ten. Milwaukee shot sixty one percent

(30:07):
from the floor. The Bucks have won eight of ten.
Phoenix Suns have won eight of ten after holding off
the Clippers in Phoenix won eleven to one oh nine.
Devin Booker twenty six points. Kevin Durant with twenty four
home wins for Minnesota and Chicago, and for Miami as well.
The Heat in double overtime beat Orlando. But the news
there today was about Jimmy Butler suspended by the Heat again,

(30:28):
his third suspension this month. They call it indefinite. It'll
go at least five games. Houston won at Boston one fourteen,
one twelve. We got to mention out out loud, what's
going on with the Houston Rockets these last three games.
They beat a Cleveland team that was thirty six and six,
and then they beat Cleveland again, and then they won
at Boston. The folks, that's tad saying say. In NBA history,

(30:52):
no other team has ever won three straight games like
this against teams with that high of a combined winning percent.
Blakeman referee mister Nebraska No was Scott Foster, referee for
Houston game winning shot from Amn Thompson.

Speaker 1 (31:08):
Was Jeron Boger refereeing that game.

Speaker 3 (31:11):
Uh thinking, thinking no, no, he was not. New York
won forty three to one oh six over Memphis, which
had won six in a row. Cleveland had lost straight
but back in the win column tonight, beating Detroit one
ten to ninety one. Lakers were head twenty six to
five in the first quarter at Charlotte, eventually narrowly beat
the Hornets won twelve to one oh seven, and LaMelo

(31:33):
Ball for Charlotte left early with a sprained ankle. Anthony
Davis outscored Charlotte by himself in the first quarter and
wound up with forty two points and twenty three rebounds.
In college hoops, number two Duke beat North Carolina State
seventy four to sixty four right now under two minutes
to go, and number three Iowa State is leading at
Arizona sixty eight sixty five. UCLA won at USC on

(31:57):
FS one eighty two to seventy six. And as far
as the late game in the NHL, it's third period
the Sharks at home lead to to one over the Penguins,
and as we talked, Dallas Cowboys. They did interview Matt
Eberflus for defensive coordinator. Must mention that in all.

Speaker 1 (32:12):
The league of unsuccessful head coaches trying to get a job,
that's great.

Speaker 3 (32:16):
There are many that have succeeded it coordinator and necessarily
a coach. This is looking like Robert Sala.

Speaker 1 (32:23):
Sure, all these guys that failed as head coaches ons
getting gigs getting gigs. The Jason Smith Show is Steve
desag'er in from Mike Carmon. Hey, don't forget. Our best

you really want to blame somebody for the Chief going
to the Super Bowl, I'll tell you who to blame it.
It's not the referees. That's next right here, Jason Smith
Steve de sager in for Harmon. This is Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 5 (33:09):
When I go to work, I don't make eye contact.

Speaker 1 (33:14):
We hire Gran Scheinheimer, don't fit the mold, don't wear
the latest clothes.

Speaker 2 (33:21):
So be sure to catch live editions of The Jason
Smith Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern,
seven pm Pacific, Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (33:32):
The Jason Smith Show is Steve de Sager in from
Mike Harmon tonight, and uh we boy, do we have
a great suspension to talk about coming up in about
fifteen minutes. But we're still on the after effects of
the AFC title game last night. And everybody who wants
to blame the officials for the Chiefs winning.

Speaker 3 (33:52):
Again, that's the easy out right And look.

Speaker 1 (33:54):
And I get it. Here's another questionable call that goes
the Chief's way when it seemed like it was a
Bill's first down, right, And I get it, I get it.
I mean there's been a lot of instances like that.

Speaker 3 (34:04):
That's all right.

Speaker 1 (34:05):
They measured right, they no, none of they I mean,
I get why they didn't overturn it, that's all right.

Speaker 3 (34:10):
The media did have a pool reporter ask the referee after.

Speaker 1 (34:14):
Oh no, yeh, no, okay, and it is yes, the
official on the Chief sideline came in an overrule the
official on the Bill sideline who would mark it for
a first down?

Speaker 3 (34:23):
One was using his right foot and one on the left.
Is that why they couldn't get together on?

Speaker 1 (34:28):
Yeah, that's when when I keep running out, I'm going
I'll come on the left foot spot, left foot spot,
left foot yeah, left foot spot.

Speaker 3 (34:34):
All right, that is genuinely embarrassing that you have two people,
one from each side of the field, marking the line
and having different marks looking at the same place.

Speaker 1 (34:42):
I mean, look, and it looked like he had it
because his body at the best point was over the
line and the ball was up in his left the
white line. You say that when the ball and he
had the best view of it to get up. But
so you can't say it's not a thing but a
bigger deal because it's hard to quantify that, right, Like,
that was bad call, But there was still most of
the fourth quarter left. Maybe the Bills score a touchdown,

(35:05):
maybe they don't. Maybe the Chiefs still score a touchdown
the next time they get the ball.

Speaker 3 (35:08):
Maybe they two teams we've seen back and forth in
the playoffs, hardly anything guarantee.

Speaker 1 (35:12):
It was hard to quantify that. It's hard to quantify
the impact of that. But I'll tell you what I
can quantify, and this is if America wants to be
mad at Sean McDermott is the guy that let us
all down, right, if you wanted the Chiefs to lose,
because yet he's another head coach that can't figure out
when to go for two. And yes, there is the
old adage you don't go for two until you have to.
You can go for two if you can go up two.

(35:34):
Scores all of these things. But Sean McDermott decides to
go for two with a touchdown that cuts the lead
to twenty one sixteen. Kick the extra point. There's still
too much of the game. There's still so much of
the game left. No, no, we're going to go for two.
But they go for two and they don't get it,
so minus one for the Bills. Now it's twenty one sixteen.
The Bills score the goalhead touchdown, so it's twenty two

(35:55):
to twenty one. What are they gonna do. Of course
they're gonna go for two now because they're only leading
by one. They go for two when they don't make it. Oh,
by the way, side note, get some better two point plays,
because clearly these plays don't work.

Speaker 3 (36:05):
It's not just going for two, it's having an idea
of what will work when you go for two. So
now the Bills are chasing two points. Instead of twenty
four to twenty one, it's twenty two to twenty one.
So when the Chiefs score a touchdown to go up,
it's twenty seven to twenty one, so they have to
go for twenty seven to twenty two. So they have
to go for two because they want to have a

(36:26):
seven point lead. They go for two, and they get
it right. So that's plus one for the Chiefs. But
that's a two point conversion that the Chiefs don't go
for if the Bills kick the extra points the score
demanded it.

Speaker 1 (36:37):
If the Bills go up twenty four to twenty one
and the Chiefs score a touchdown, they're kicking the extra
point to go up twenty eight twenty four, they're not
going for They're not doing it, saying, hey, the extra
point puts us up by more than a field goal,
so we're gonna do that. That's three points I can
quantify that. Sean McDermott cost the Bills with that ridiculously
bad decisions. How many points, Steve, I'm gonna ask some

(36:59):
math question. How many points did Bills lose that game
by three?

Speaker 3 (37:02):
On the right field goal? Yeah, okay, so miss two
point point plays yourself, and the opponent makes a two
point conversion. Those three plays are the different point on
the scoreboard.

Speaker 1 (37:13):
Because the Chiefs would not have gone for it if
the Bills had kicked the extra points right and to
go for two that early in the game, and he only.

Speaker 3 (37:21):
Did it because of it was the knee jerk penalties.
The penalty, Oh, take the point off the board that
we just kicked for. Forget the whole twenty one seventeen thing.
Let's let's line up at the one yard line. It's
half the distance, right, Okay, tell them we're not kicking.
Move it to one to the one.

Speaker 1 (37:36):
Some coaches have to understand what the impact is if
you don't get it right. What's the impact if we
don't get this as.

Speaker 3 (37:45):
Even Brandon Staley wound up saying that out. I'm not kidding.
Even he wound up saying that I never took into
consideration the impact that a failure on one of these
decisions would have on the team. The stuff that you
have to consider that's not on paper.

Speaker 1 (38:02):
And I really it passes understanding. The coaches still do this,
right because I told you, like, look, every year I
have the very successful I invite coaches from college football
the NFL. I charge now it's twenty thousand dollars a coach.
Now it's now it's twenty five thousand, you know, inflation.
And we do an entire weekend.

Speaker 3 (38:20):
So guess who's buying dinner this Friday of on field
scenarios about how to deal with your clock management in
the final two minutes.

Speaker 1 (38:28):
Right, I've been running this for the last few years.
New coaches come in every year that don't understand they
do need to hands timeouts and whytely? But now I realize, okay,
but doing this for a few years, it's time to expand.
So I'm going to expand from not only that where
we do actually so it's like it's like top Gun
for coaches, right, It's like we do we do real
live things. We do real live on field situation. Yeah,
there's golf, and there's team building exerps. You pretend the

(38:49):
Soviets there after. Oh, it's all different things, right, it's yeah,
and uh, you know, but it's still that's the main
crux of it is you learn what to do with
your end of game situation. I have to expand this
now into dealing with when to go for two and
when not to go for two. So something like this
where the coaches arrive on a Thursday and they leave
on Sunday morning, Like, maybe if you want to stay

(39:11):
later Sunday for a half day and an extra five
thousand dollars.

Speaker 3 (39:14):
I will go over when to go for two with you.

Speaker 1 (39:16):
So you can either buy the package that's just end
of game top clock management end for the extra five
thousand dollars you get the two point conversion, or just buy.

Speaker 3 (39:25):
One of them staying the extra Does that come with
Continental breakfast always, Continental breakfast, free WiFi?

Speaker 1 (39:30):
Okay? Oh yeah, No, I mean these coaches are spending
money to come on.

Speaker 3 (39:33):
That's rather attractive.

Speaker 1 (39:34):
Yeah. No, I mean there's some things here. Yeah, I
mean money is thrown everything else. Yeah, laundry. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (39:39):
Can I just mention something I mentioned on last night
show that this situation we are talking about of why
the Bills lost such a close game, this is obviously
a major reason why. It reminds me exactly of when
Michigan lost at home to Appalachian State. Go back twenty
years to that game. Michigan went for two twice, missed

(39:59):
both times times and lost by two. Okay, can we
actually in hindsight do the math for the head coach.
First off, if you're going for two, maybe have your
star running back on the field, which Michigan did out
at the title. Second, if you wind up losing by
two and you could have just kicked for one each
time and you know, still been alive in the game

(40:21):
at the end of four quarters, maybe your decision wasn't
one of the best. And this is exactly what happened
yet again to Buffalo, which didn't learn. And astoundingly, Buffalo
also didn't learn from the opponent it vanquished in the
previous weekend in the divisional round when Baltimore, in a
twenty seven to twenty five loss, missed two two point

(40:43):
passes in the second half and lost by two.

Speaker 1 (40:46):
And let me just you know, finish by buttoning and
bringing it back to we talked about a few minutes ago,
twenty years ago, this Michigan Appalachian State game. The Cowboys
were ten years removed from their last Super Bowl that
they still had one opinion.

Speaker 3 (41:01):
It's the drought that we're in. The drought that we're in.

Speaker 1 (41:03):
At least what you people say. So so, Sean McDermott,
you let down America. Congratulations, thank you so much for
all of that. You let down America. But hey, twenty
five thousand dollars now thirty grand if you want that,
because you need that part, Sean McDermott, you need that.
Come out to my end of season thing coming up next.
We have a suspension that we just have to talk about.
