Speaker 2 (00:54):
Well, gona be a fun night tonight.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
About an hour from now, I'm going to visit with
Mark Stein NBA Insider. Plenty of big NBA All Star drama,
trade deadline drama, but I am ready to make and
I'm ready to make not only a big.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
Bold prediction for the NFL Draft.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
But I would you always say, Oh, Smith, you never
should go to Vegas and do it. This is where
I would go to Vegas and put my money on
this prediction.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
What I'm gonna tell you right now? You ready, yeah,
sure no, because I sound just like that when I
disagree with you.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
McConaughey, Bears, Ah Bears, Bears, Bears.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
Draft. Well, that's generally we know that walking in, when
we come in after the first round has been done,
that we stipulate that's the opening of the show and
we go from there.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
Those odds are those odds are off the board. They
don't even take those bets anymore. Now, giving we we
just be giving money away. We can't take that. Whatever
the Jets pick, the pick is gonna be wrong. Whoever
they draft, it's gonna be wrong.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
Right.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
Look at the Super Bowl Makai Beckton, right, they drafted
him five years going. He was going to be the
next great offensive lineman. Couldn't stay healthy, couldn't stay healthy.
They moved his position. He didn't want to play right tackle,
but they moved him there. He got hurt again, he
couldn't stay in the lineup. They let him go, and
now he's starting for the Eagles and part of that
incredible offensive line that got Take one Barkley to a

(02:17):
two thousand yard year, right, like jet that's Jets football.
That's Jets football, right, That's how it goes.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
And then I mean, part of your draft day is
going to be trading Garrett Wilson. So it's all, well,
here's the thing. I don't think we'll trade.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
I've heard, I know the rumors out there that all
Potential is going to ask for trade.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
But he's not going to ask for trade.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
If the Jets let Davonte Adams go because he's doing
a lot of money and I don't know if they're
going to keep him, They're not going if they keep
DeVante Adams, Garrett Wilson will say, yes, I want to
get traded because I want to be a number one
guy somewhere. And I'm still not gonna because Adams is
still a terrific wide receiver. But if the Jets let
Adams go, Garrett Wilson will stay it.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
Why not just go beat him?

Speaker 1 (02:58):
Well, Well that's that's I I can't I can't tell you. Uh,
I can't tell people what they're gonna do. I'm telling
you how it's gonna go. I want to be the
number one. Well, you're not gonna be I want out question.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
Why not just go win the job? Wants to be
a number one receiver? Does that become buddies with Aaron
Rodgers telling you man that generations the athletes are different there.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
They don't think like like we did when when you
were in when when we were growing up, and it's
twenty five years ago, where you go out and earn
everything every day and if you want to beat somebody,
you take it from there. No, that's not that's not
the gen Z athlete, man, it's not. It's Hey, I
work hard, this is what I want. Oh, but it's
gonna be harder to get it. Well, no, no, I
don't want I want to go someplace else where. It's
where it's gonna be given to me, right, Like I

(03:41):
mean that that there's there's it's just not the same.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
That the athletes are not the same. Uh.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
And they come with and and and and for better
and worse, the athletes are not the same. Like, do
I think they come into the league now, Uh? Gen
Z athletes more ready to play in the NFL? Absolutely,
one hundred percent. Are they coming in much more NFL
ready because of what they've gone through in college? Yes,
because of what they do in their their attention to
detail in offensive systems. Yeah, but when it comes to competition,

(04:09):
and I mean you can't, you can't say when Okay,
I'm ready to stay and battle it out. To me, No,
I want to be number especially wide receivers. Wide receivers
want all the glory. You know, there's running backs that
I'm very happy to say, Hey, I'm okay sharing the
load here. You know, we can all get paid a
little bit. I'm happy being Sonic and Knuckles. I'm happy
being thunder and lightning. I'm happy. I'm happy wide receivers. No, no, no,

(04:29):
I get all the footballs. I get all the footballs.
They don't go to anybody else. I get all The
only time I don't get a pass is when I'm
on the sideline and I'm getting a drink of water
because I've just caught three passes in a row and
you want to throw to somebody else. Then I come
back in the game and then I get the rest
of the passes.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
That's kind of how it goes for wide receivers. Got
to collect them all. It's how it coast.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
But I'll give you this bowlpritition because this I can't
believe has kind of flown under the radar as it
has the past twelve to fifteen hours. This was Shador Sanders.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
Right.

Speaker 1 (04:58):
Remember he's not playing at the Scene Bowl this this week.
He's no reason to right, it's gonna be a top
five pick. And here he was doing an interview on
the sideline while while prep and everything is going on,
and he drops a huge hint about where he thinks
he's going to be playing in the next few months.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
Take a listen, any place but the Jets heard that
loud and clear. There we go.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
That's three seconds there any place? But anywhere else? You
mean even Tampa? Yes, even Carolina?

Speaker 2 (05:29):
Yes? What about the Jets? I said any place? But
the Jets. Don't put the Jets in there when I
said not the Jets.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
So here he is saying, Remember now, listen, this is
not where he's gonna be playing.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
It's who is going to be playing where he is?
Check it out now. Being in the stadium is definitely
is definitely fun. I know I'll play here very soon
against the Cowboys, but it is definitely a dream come
true of being able to be at this Bowl game.
What's or my brothers out there. Watch so here he is.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
Okay, wait a minute, I'll be playing in Dallas, right,
We're in Dallas. Wait a minute, I'll be playing here
against the Cowboys very soon.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
And now let's take a look at the top of
the draft. Tennessee Titans.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
No, not really, Cleveland Brown's nah, not really drafting third
the New York Giants who play in Dallas once a
year every year. I'm pretty sure, not only not only
is Chador Sanders going to be a Giant, both the
Titans and the Browns will probably stay out of their

(06:38):
way to draft Chador Sanders because I am sure this
is the preferred destination. The fact that Chaduur Sanders is
on television on NFL Network saying, hey, I'll be playing
here against the Cowboys very soon tells you that the
Giants have the Chadour and Deon Sanders seal of approval.
And there you know, you know that Dion and Chador

(06:59):
are very and Dions talked about uh and and and
hinted that they want to be very particular where Schaduur
winds up and if if the Titans were to draft him,
I could see it being I'm not playing here, Nope,
not playing here, gone Cleveland's draft.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
Nope, not playing here. You gotta trade me, you gotta trade.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
Me, and and and an Eli Manning will be pulled
and somebody's gonna have to panic the fact.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
That cam Ward and d and and Shador Sanders.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
Don't have absolute high number one overall grades on them,
because you look, Travis Hunter has a great grade, and
there's some other players now that their odds are improving
to go.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
Number one overall that aren't the quarterbacks. Uh.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
This tells me that this will be a pretty easy decision.
The Titans have already said they're open to trading the pick.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
The Browns probably will. Hey, we're happy with cam Ward,
you know, as we go forward. But I think they
will both stay out of the way for the Giants.
If Sanders is the that's the preferred landing spot for him.
Now he's gonna go in the top three, top five.
And not only should not only h is this gonna happen.
This is the guy the Giants should take, right, They

(08:01):
should take Shador Sanders if he's open head of everybody else,
because the Giants need an identity. They have not had
an identity in years. The organization is a mess. And
they've always had a great identity, whether it was a
great defense Eli Manning for the better part of fifteen years. Right,
this was the Giants identity and they're just flailing right now.

(08:22):
They have no quarterback. Your GM is one foot out
the door from being fired. So is your head coach. Yes,
you drafted Elak Neighbors, who looks like he's gonna be special.
But okay, he's a wide receiver, right, I mean, he's
not Odell Beckham. He didn't have an Odell Beckham type year.
He could be a really, really terrific player, but he's
not that cutthrough guy. The Giants need an identity and

(08:43):
Shador Sanders would bring that. He would bring his star power.
He brings his talent. You know, Dion would weigh in
all the time on it. The Giants would be a
daily story. He would become Okay, who are the Giants?
We are quarterback driven with Shador Sanders and some teams
just need a star player. Some teams need an identity,
and that's why you need an identity.

Speaker 2 (09:04):
Do the Jets need identity?

Speaker 3 (09:05):
No?

Speaker 1 (09:06):
Aaron Glenn came in. He's their identity right now. Right,
Other teams hiring head coaches. Do the Bears needed identity? No,
we know it's Ben Johnson, it's Caleb Williams. But the
Giants with a lame duck coach and a lame duck GM,
they need to know who are we? What are we?
How do we start going forward? What do we want
teams to be able to know? Hey, we got to
prepare for this. With the Giants, they need their guy.

(09:28):
They need to be quarterback driven, and Shador Sanders is
that guy because he will give them that.

Speaker 2 (09:33):
Look at you, just trying to prop it up as
best you can. I appreciate you. Tennessee plays at Dallas
in twenty twenty six, for what it's worth. That's not
very soon, though, that's not soon.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
I don't think he's saying Tennessee, I mean playing here
in two years, one game, one time.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
Nah, I don't think that's I would just say this,
as you say, the stand down and let him get
to the Giants whatever to hell would that they want him?
Come and get it, give me a bunch of draft picks.
I'm not getting out of the way. Even if I
don't really love him, I'm gonna tell you that I do.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
Yeah, but who's coming up to get him, who's coming
up to get him, Who's well?

Speaker 2 (10:08):
The giants can come get who's well, but they are
at three.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
I think the giants will say, yeah, we're absolutely fine
sitting at three and and good. Who's who's gonna trade
up the ransom that you want for a quarterback that
is not Andrew Luck, that's not Jaden Daniels, that's not Caleb.

Speaker 2 (10:24):
But you just sold me that he was the identity.
He's everything to go and change, a change of culture.
He's one change a giant and everything else he's that's what.
If that's what there's believing, and you think that's true,
then let them buy into that, Show it and show me.

Speaker 1 (10:43):
But who's going up, Who's who's gonna who's gonna move
all away? Because you know, if you're trading the number
one overall pick, they're gonna want a big ransom for it.

Speaker 2 (10:51):
Sure, and this is not a different player. It might
not be necessarily moving right for the purpose or a
dual carter, but for the purposes of this discussion, you know,
if we're gonna paint him in the picture of he's
the elixure that cures it all, I want Shane to
pay for it. I'm not letting him fall into his

(11:11):
lap with some ah they need him. He may not
want to come here.

Speaker 1 (11:16):
No, you can't make But you can't make people be
interested if they don't want to trade up.

Speaker 2 (11:20):
You can't make people be interested for one pick is
always gonna have value, whether it's shit or not. If
nothing else, you scare the giants into thinking they've got
to make a move.

Speaker 1 (11:29):
Yeah, but how do you But they're gonna know. People
know who's realistic.

Speaker 2 (11:33):
There's a lot of teams in the need for quarterback.
We've we've stay there are.

Speaker 1 (11:38):
But but but you need you need some kind of
real threat. You can't just make it up and say, hey,
oh guess what I got. I got all kinds of
offers coming out. You got you want Jador Sanders. You've
got to got a.

Speaker 2 (11:48):
Whole poker It's the whole poker game of the draft.
I mean, the Titans need a quarterback that if if
one National is not a decent place for a guy
to go play, if one.

Speaker 1 (12:00):
One team is interested, if one team is interested, then
other teams are going to be interested in other teams
are going to talk like that's just how it goes,
there's gonna be no silent mystery team that's gonna say hey, no,
but it can't tell it.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
To your point, if this guy's this transcendental is you're
trying to pay him out to be. He's the pick
for the Giants.

Speaker 1 (12:18):
He is the pick to give the Giants an identity
because they absolutely need it.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
They had once running back there that they as they
should have. But he wants for a couple of years. Yeah,
but but now they don't have anything. Now they have nothing. Okay,
this is who we have. Let's start over.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
Let's start over the biggest position we have, so we're
not having another year of Hey, Tommy Cutlets might be
playing quarterback for us. No, look at Tennessee and Cleveland.
Are they the Giants? Are they the pageantry and the
heritage of the Giants? No, this, the Giants are a
pretty special team in the NFL when it comes to
they worry and not right, but but they still are.
They're more special than the Browns. They're more special than

(12:58):
the Titans. They're up there with the Steelers and the
Cowboys and the Dolphins, like these are the teams that, hey,
this is where I want to go play.

Speaker 2 (13:04):
I want to go play for this organization. I want the.

Speaker 1 (13:06):
Number one media market in the country, which I'm gonna
get from the Giants. I'm gonna get unbelievable media attention
in New York because then one thing we know, Shadua
Sanders likes media attention, and.

Speaker 2 (13:17):
I'm the opportunity to hold them over a barrel. If
for nothing else, to make life difficult for everybody, you
just get out of the way and let him know
I'm with you.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
I just, I just this is not a year where
people are going to give up a ton to move
all the way up.

Speaker 2 (13:35):
That's just it's just not that year.

Speaker 1 (13:37):
There's other years where it is right, and people may
move up in the second and third round if they
see their quarterbacks say hey, I want to move up.

Speaker 2 (13:44):
I really like Jaln Milroe.

Speaker 1 (13:45):
I really like Kyle McCord, I really like Jackson Dart,
I really like quinn Ewers. Let's move up in the
second round form where it's not as expensive that I
think is going to happen a ton.

Speaker 2 (13:54):
I think that's good where we're gonna get that ton.

Speaker 1 (13:55):
But top of the draft, it just costs so much
to move up if it's not a guy you're absolutely
love with that you know, really wants to play there.

Speaker 2 (14:03):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
And that's part of what the what I'm sure Dion
and Shadur is gonna do. We're gonna scare off the
teams that we don't want to play for, like if
we really want the Giants for everything they can offer
the market, the attention, uh, starting over in a huge situation. Yeah,
they'll scare other teams off so they have to move
up to get it. I'd love to see because I
like you. I've come to love chaos.

Speaker 2 (14:24):
I just don't know how that's gonna happen to you
after ten years, and you can go to continued chaos
with the Giants because now you'll have a new GM
after Shane and his kid get bounced. Yeah, but at
least I'll get to make this pick. You know, we'll
make this one, but no more after that one.

Speaker 1 (14:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (14:42):
Well, I mean he's still gonna lose the off season
to the Jets and the Bears.

Speaker 1 (14:46):
So just get ready, get ready, Chadeur to the Giants.
It is gonna be a done deal. Coming up next,
we got more NFL on the way. Is the future
of another New York quarterback up in the a after
what happened today, plus a story I never thought we'd
talk about a year ago, Yet here we are, and

Be there, Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with
my best friend Mike Harmon, how about home off live
from the ti rack dot Com studios. And let's get
a quick check in on Alex Tyshirt if you were
with to mee agats to the whole show. Beginning of
the show, Alex tyshert for thirty years old, right, Alex

(16:57):
is big movie buff says to me, Hey, I'm twenty
five minutes in.

Speaker 2 (17:02):
Is Shawshank Redemption a good movie? And I said, what? Yeah?
Is it? Is it a good movie? Because I I
don't think he killed his wife.

Speaker 1 (17:09):
I'm like, interesting, okay, okay, Now, considering you're the only
one in the world that hasn't seen the movie, it's
gonna be fun seeing it through your eyes again. So
I said, all right, let me know when you're another
twenty five minutes in. So now, Alex, you have gotten
another twenty five minutes into Shawshank Redemption.

Speaker 3 (17:26):
I don't know if I want to talk about this anymore.

Speaker 2 (17:29):
I'm like, an hour in the one is a piece
of you know what, poor Johnny. I don't know what
to think anymore. But he didn't do it. He didn't
do it. I didn't do it. Why?

Speaker 1 (17:48):
Right right after he learned how to read and write tools.
I so excited even Canada Cat and tree and got
two points right there.

Speaker 2 (17:58):
There's my score, Jason, you didn't even do it. No,
I know he didn't even do it.

Speaker 3 (18:03):
The warden, I know it's God fearing that sob Yeah, no.

Speaker 2 (18:08):
The warden not a nice man. Yeah, that's that's a
very yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Didn't go the way you thought
it was gonna go, did it.

Speaker 3 (18:15):
I'm gonna hurt right now.

Speaker 2 (18:18):
I have to pause it. I had to posit, dude.
Maybe maybe ty shirt would not have been ready for
this way if you'd been introduced years ago.

Speaker 1 (18:27):
Because we're all talking through it here, Smith, Yeah, I
mean you're like a full grown adult now. If you
saw this when you were like sixteen, forget it.

Speaker 2 (18:34):
Jason, did you finish this? Yeah? I would have scared
him straight though. It's tough, man, I'll tell you.

Speaker 3 (18:39):
Jason, this is like Oppenheimer. I saw this and there's
fifty minutes left. Yeah, but I can't go.

Speaker 2 (18:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (18:46):
But when Oppenheimer is fifty minutes left, you're like, oh
my god, there's fifty minutes left.

Speaker 2 (18:50):
This is like, Wow, what's gonna happen? There's fifty minutes
left in the movie. Speak for yourself. Oppenheimer was a
well paced, well constructed filter. The highest Duda come on
it was.

Speaker 1 (19:00):
It was seventeen hours long. It was twice as long
as the Irishman. Come on, man, it was not. It's
not well paced.

Speaker 2 (19:06):
Another well paced, well done, well constructed film. Many of
Hollywood's brightest stars. So what when when the movie ends
with the bomb going off? Well, not really but but
but that would seem to be the logical end, right, Yeah, Well,
the bomb goes off, there's a little bit more. Oh what,
there's like a like a like an end, like a
Lord of the Rings type ending where oh you know

(19:27):
they show that Frodo and his friends don't bow to anybody. No, no,
we got a good hour in fifteen minutes after that. Whoa, whoa,
whoa what? Yeah, we got the whole stuff going on.

Speaker 1 (19:36):
You know, Downy wants his oscar and all his Yeah no,
there's tons.

Speaker 2 (19:39):
Of movie left after that. Now you dismiss it to
down he wants his oscar. We got plenty of it.

Speaker 1 (19:45):
Hey, we all three because Downey got his oscar and
now he's back in the MCU, which is where he belongs, right, Okay,
we all win because that happened.

Speaker 3 (19:52):
Jason Ward off the hook right now. This guy literally
is keeping him there for his own benefits.

Speaker 2 (20:00):
Uh yeah, yeah, Jason.

Speaker 3 (20:02):
We're supposed to be real rehabilitation centered, not an institutionalization.

Speaker 2 (20:06):
Telling you see it does not didn't you know the
way you thought it was gonna go? No, how do
you explain that? Do you explain what happened Jason the
start of every Jets and that season?

Speaker 1 (20:20):
Yeah, yeah, no, I I I'm just like Tyshir at
beginning of the season, just.

Speaker 2 (20:23):
Like this, the bomb goes off. It's not it's it's
not fair. No, it's not a fair word.

Speaker 3 (20:27):
Hey, not even right to say.

Speaker 2 (20:29):
No, they're not they're not treated. Well, there they are not.
This is where we send people. I know.

Speaker 1 (20:34):
Well, okay, it's a fake prison. Okay, how do we
know it's not a real You.

Speaker 3 (20:40):
Just told me the lawyers were crappy back then, so prisons.

Speaker 2 (20:43):
Okay, it was a real institution. Okay.

Speaker 1 (20:46):
But but this was just a movie. This is not
like a documentary of how things were.

Speaker 2 (20:50):
It feels like it. Okay, it might have been, but
I'm but this is just a movie.

Speaker 1 (20:54):
This is just just so you know, I hear Bob
Gunton was a very nice man and off the off,
the off, the off, the sets and everything. Everybody loves
the guy. And you know he's playing he's playing a
character in this.

Speaker 2 (21:05):
Marvel All the Marvel movies are just movies. But you
think it's real. Oh, well, the Marvel movies are real.

Speaker 1 (21:10):
Come on it we got people flying like Iron Man
around Lax.

Speaker 2 (21:15):
Come on, of course Marvel movies are real. Yeah. I
mean In the Toughest screw Age, Shawshank was the guy
that ran bikini bottom. So I mean it's all good? Sure, yeah,
I can't all right?

Speaker 1 (21:24):
So another after you watch another twenty five minutes at
you have to give us another update. You get about
can when you get about about thirty minutes out from
the end of the movie, we gotta have another update.

Speaker 3 (21:36):
This is tough, dude. Can I go back to Christopher
Nolan movies?

Speaker 1 (21:43):
Well, if he directed Shawshank at the end, you would
wonder did any of that really happen?

Speaker 2 (21:48):
Was that? Something? Is? Why am I watching this coin? Spin?

Speaker 1 (21:51):
Does this mean if the coin spins and doesn't go
that Shawshank was real? And if it spins and it stops,
does that mean we're all in the matrix? And suddenly
here's Canna Reeves is busting Tim Robbins out of jail.

Speaker 2 (22:02):
That's what it'd be for his Christopher Nolan movie.

Speaker 5 (22:03):
Hi, I'm Algan Freeman.

Speaker 2 (22:06):
Just think about it, Alex. If you hadn't eaten something today,
think about where your brain might be on this film. Wow,
So you're you're probably in a little better place, and
and we're fearing that this is still breaking you for
you Now, buddy, you're gonna go run off to the desert.
And we're not gonna see it for a while. I
could see it happening.

Speaker 3 (22:25):
I'm gonna out for Tommy.

Speaker 2 (22:26):
I know, I know, I know, poor kyiobellows.

Speaker 1 (22:28):
Yeah then he had I know, yeah, but then but
then he got lucky, went and got to.

Speaker 2 (22:32):
Do uh Ally McBeal for like five years. So it
turned out for him. Yah off, Well I don't put
him directly tangential to the m c U and Red Hole.
Yeah see how that all works.

Speaker 1 (22:42):
Yeah yeah, So so he turns out he turns out
okay with with that, although I don't think his storyline
turned out well.

Speaker 2 (22:47):
In Ally McBeal. Yeah, I don't think a storyline turned
She had a good run.

Speaker 1 (22:52):
No, he had a good run, right, he went from
he went from Shawshank to Alley mcpeel. I think he's
doing okay, just trust me the next half hour and
then that, you know, in an hour, so you'll you'll
give us an update and and maybe you'll be in
a different place mentally, right, maybe you are. Meanwhile, first
of all, how great is this that in the week
before the Super Bowl WNBA free agency is a huge headline, Like,

(23:16):
how how cool is that that specials are on and
it's big breaking news and and during the day today
the fact that the Indiana Fever got Natasha Howard, three
time WNBA champions, had a big year last year with
the Dallas Wings. They're they're trying to build and you know,
I've seen Rebecca Lobo already say, hey, Indiana is like
one piece away from being a huge title contender. Like

(23:39):
that's a that this shows you that despite all the
issues the WNBA has with giving Caitlin Clark credit for
bringing the league to this level, that they made it right.
Like when when WNBA free agency is a thing, like
you've made it. Now you are part of the sports
calendar all the way through there there's the debates go

(24:00):
and the conversation goes just like we talk about the
NBA or college basketball, like you've made it, Like this
is a great thing that now you don't have to
worry about proving yourself for getting the WNBA. You have
become a thing in the last calendar year. And that's
an awesome, awesome because it's really hard for a sports day.
Suddenly we're gonna cut through and be one of the
main sports that people follow and talk about and talk

(24:22):
about when they're hanging out with their friends. You see
what happened here and Katelyn Clark did this and all that.
That's an awesome, awesome thing part of positivity Friday night here, Mike.

Speaker 2 (24:30):
There you go. Well, I mean, look, you got a
bunch of big moving parts, big names. Brittany Grinder on
the move, Alssa Thomas on the move, Cunningham shows up
in Indiana as you mentioned as well, you know, looking
at who says you can't go home again for Natasha Howard, right,
that's where she started her career a decade ago in Indiana.

(24:53):
So all of that, Yeah, you get to build on
the success of this last year, some of the names
and and getting some highlights in the mix from your
newly formed league. Right, Ian Escu hitting you know, one
legged shots from you know, near half court as the
clock expires. Angel Reese getting some run because she's developed

(25:15):
a little bit of at least a workable jump shot
on occasion. Like all of this growth, the growth of
the game is good. More investment. We see Jared Goff
and his wife saying, hey, we want to bring a
team back to Detroit. We had the talk with with
Monsey yesterday about near Nashville looking at it at a

(25:36):
team and calling at the Nashville summit, after pat summit
with the you know, the McGraw hill contingent as part
of Peyton Manning and others trying to lead the way
economically to make that happen. You start talking about aggressive expansion,
stars on the move and in a bit of a

(25:56):
league in flux. Yeah, new stars and college basketball. It's
only a matter of time before we start breaking down
things heading into the tournament, you know, as we wait
for Juju Watkins and all of the greats, Paige Becker's
and all to take their next steps.

Speaker 1 (26:12):
Now you said the magic phrase right there, next steps,
because I'll tell you absolutely what is next for Caitlyn Clark.

Speaker 2 (26:18):
Right, she has shown that.

Speaker 1 (26:20):
I can bring eyeball to the league. I can get
players paid, I can get people to the arena. Now,
I can get stars to want to come play with me. Right,
That's always a big thing. You want to come play
with a star. And hey, I'm you know, and I'm
coming back, Natash Howard coming back. I think I can win,
can win a championship. This is where I want to be.
They already have a big three in Indiana. But I'll

(26:42):
tell you where the goal posts are going to move
for her, because when the the lemma came up this
week about her not participating in the three Point Contest
NBA All Star Weekend, it just that just smacked of
Caitlyn Clark going, I don't want any more critician. People
are going to criticize me if I go do this,
I'm gonna I'm gonna have to hear it from people

(27:02):
and hear people in the WNBA that don't think I
should be doing this for whatever reason. And I've told
you this is where she's got to stop realizing that
I or stop attempting to please every one. It's not
gonna happen. People are gonna not like her no matter
what she does. Everybody in the league could be making
ten million dollars a year, they could be the number
one sport in the world, and there would still be

(27:24):
a good part of the league that's like, yeah, I
don't like the fact that Caitlyn did this for us.

Speaker 2 (27:28):
Right there, that's still gonna happen.

Speaker 1 (27:30):
But I'll tell you where it's gonna go now, because
now that we're running everybody who is Caitlin anti Caitlin
Clark is running out of things to say. Running She
was absolutely the best rookie of the year. She was
an All w NBA player, set records for her play
for points as a rookie, assists is a rookie. And yes,
other rookies had really good years. Angel Reese had a

(27:52):
really good year. It's not even close, not even close
to the star that that Caitlyn Clark is. And they're
still going to be how do we criticize Caitlin Clark right,
still gonna be that push in the w NBA and
outside it. And I'll tell you where it's gonna go next.
It's gonna go really soon coming out of free agency.
But already they look like they've improved from a year ago.

(28:13):
They got a new head coach. It's going to be
she's gotta win or she's overrated, Like that's gonna be
where people because they can keep that conversation going for
the entire season. She's got to win the championship or
she's overrated, which is much bigger deal than it would
be for anybody else. No one's gonna say Kelsey Plumb's
gotta win with the Sparks or if we don't see

(28:34):
Brianna Stewart win again with the New York Liberty. Right,
No one's gonna say that, but that's what it's gonna
be because that's the that's the only conversation that they
can hold that that that you can say, okay, but
but she's gotta win.

Speaker 2 (28:46):
Look how good she is.

Speaker 1 (28:47):
But she's gotta win because that can go all the
way till the end of the year, and if any
other team wins besides the fever, it's gonna be opts
told you.

Speaker 2 (28:54):
She's not that good. She's not that good. She couldn't
get him all.

Speaker 1 (28:57):
Look who look that Asia Wilson is still so much better,
so much better. That's gonna be the conversation because everything
else is out the window. You get her talent, her play,
her impact on the league. I mean, there's nothing to
criticize where you don't look foolish. So that's where it's
all gonna go. It's gonna be if she doesn't win
at all, she's overrated because that at least, well, you

(29:17):
can't tell me I'm wrong until the WNBA.

Speaker 2 (29:20):
Championship is over. That's how it's gonna go. Well, I mean,
that's the natural cycle of things. So yeah. I mean
as soon as the you get a crown put on you,
whether you do it yourself Lebron style or or you
go and and it's been bestowed upon you, as it
has with Clark. And yeah, obviously it's the These stats
are fine and all and wonderful, but go and win. Right.

(29:43):
It goes back to the All Star conversations we've been
having about snubs. What did you say had in common
for all the guys who got quote snub gesture? Just
one thing, just one thing, right, Just one thing? One thing?
What was it again? One thing? They all stink, their
teams stink. All the players have in common. Right, So
in the end, if you don't win it, we we

(30:06):
just kind of strugg and go, hey, great, because we
don't count all Star games anymore. We don't. I mean,
like no, nobody says, hey, you know what, he's an
a time Allstar. That's great. That means he's never won,
because you would lead with championship rings or championship appearances.
This is true, This is true, right, And look, you're
you're coming up from what being twenty and twenty you

(30:29):
got you got a long way to run, so you know,
the only only but up. But yeah, for those that
need their immediate satisfaction in our sports culture and because
we're dismissive of anything but the number one team. Yeah,
that's sorry, Caitlin Clark, that's where you're headed. She never
wanted Iowa. How often does that get brought up quite

(30:50):
a bit?

Speaker 1 (30:52):
I mean, got to got back to back final fours,
doesn't matter, didn't win back to back final fours. I mean, yeah,
they're gonna They're gonna move the goalpost just just to
suit that, and that's gonna become Okay, that's where my
argument could be. That's the only place where I can
go is oh, gotta win, gotta win, Like if Lebron
doesn't win every year, Oh, look at the guy.

Speaker 2 (31:08):
He doesn't win. He's been a more finals than anybody.
Doesn't matter, it doesn't matter, doesn't win every year.

Speaker 1 (31:12):
Like that, it gets to be a point where but
now you're just making stuff up, right now, you're just
making making things up, And eventually we'll Caitlin Clark get there, yeah,
one hundred percent, but for the beginning of her second
year a little bit too early.

Speaker 2 (31:25):
But it doesn't matter.

Speaker 1 (31:26):
It doesn't matter because that's where that's the only place
the critics can go, and that's what it's gonna be.

Speaker 2 (31:30):
Did you really just try to slide into Lebron's the
goat thing right there? I couldn't get how terrible a
take is that? I couldn't get that.

Speaker 1 (31:40):
Oh, really, you don't think Lebron's the best player we've
seen since he came in the league last thirty years?

Speaker 2 (31:44):
Of course he is. Who's better than Lebron? As long
as you say since he's come into the league, I'll
back I'll go back to the mid nineties.

Speaker 1 (31:52):
I'll go back to I mean, we don't have to
have the Jordan debate, but I mean, let's let's be honest.
There's been nobody better than Lebron in the last twenty
five thirty years.

Speaker 2 (31:59):
In the NBA. Right, that's not a hot take. Just
thirty years? What what he got? Kobe?

Speaker 1 (32:04):
You got Tim Duncan, You had lots of guys Lebron's over, right?
Does it win the finals every year? I'll take Giannis
over him. I'll take these guys now.

Speaker 2 (32:11):
I mean, I'll take Toby Exit out, bout of Fresca, exit,
swollen Dome.

Speaker 1 (32:16):
Time to find out what's trending right now in the
wide world of sports, from special delivery Steve to seger
as Dee, what do you got well?

Speaker 5 (32:23):
In the late game at Golden State Steph Curry, which
is six points games mid third quarter Phoenix leading the
Warriors seventy seven to sixty. Everything else is final. Boston
got a game winning jumper in the final second from
Jason Tatum. He had twenty seven points. Celtics won at
New Orleans one eighteen one sixteen. The Pelicans have lost
five straight. They did not have Zion Williamson out tonight

(32:44):
due to illness, and they won't have Dejonte Murray in
the future because of a leg injury possible torn achilles.
He suffered a non contact injury tonight. San Antonio won
forty four to one to eighteen over Milwaukee victor wm
Minyama thirty points. The Denver now Get shot sixty six
six percent from the floor and one. At Philadelphia won
thirty seven to one thirty four. Jamal Murray thirty one points,

(33:07):
eleven assists, just one turnover. At Detroit, K Cunningham scored
forty points in a win over Dallas one seventeen to
one oh two. Chicago won at Toronto one twenty two
to one oh six. That ends the Raptors five game
winning streak, and the Clippers were winners at Charlotte one twelve,
one oh four. The Hornets record now twelve and thirty three.
Julius Randall of Minnesota out tomorrow with a groin injury.

(33:29):
Washington rookie first rounder Alex Sar will miss the third
straight game with a sprained angle. The Wizards have lost
sixteen in a row. In college hoops, Indiana Hoosiers committed
twenty turnovers and lost a very close game at tenth
rank Perdue eighty one seventy six. Perdue was down with
about ten seconds left. In the NHL, Colorado at home
has shut out Saint Louis five nothing. Dallas and Buffalo

(33:52):
with wins. The New Orleans Saints will meet with Kellen
Morerigan after the Super Bowl. He's currently the Eagles offensive coordinator.
The Eagles, we'll practice in Philadelphia again on Saturday and
then head two New Orleans for the Super Bowl preparations.
The Cowboys new offensive coordinator is Clayton Adams from the
Cardinals and before that the Colds. He had a second
interview today. Dallas had hired Matt Eberflus for defensive coordinator.

(34:14):
Brian Schottenheimer is Dallas's new head coach. The jets new
offensive coordinator is Tanner Engstrom from the Lions, and Tampa
Bay promoted Josh Grizzard to offensive coordinator.

Speaker 2 (34:25):

Speaker 1 (36:01):
As now, we are getting into our big Super Bowl
prep week right. Next week's going to be all about
the game between the Chiefs and the Eagles. We got
to have media night on Monday. The teams are going
to be getting there soon. One thing that I've heard
all week from a lot of people, and I roll
my eyes and go, okay, you're just saying something that

(36:22):
you don't really believe. And I've heard a lot of
the oh, I hate this Super Bowl. I'm not gonna watch, right.
I've heard a lot. I hate the soup, I hate
the Chiefs because the refs cheat for them, and I
hate the Eagles because they're just annoying. And I've seen
this game a couple of year. I hate this Super Bowl, right,
I've seen a lot from I hate the Super Bowl
crowd and I just shrugged my shoulders and go, yeah,

(36:45):
what what is what is going on in your life
that you're gonna come out and say I hate this
super Bowl? What do you mean you hate the super Bowl?
Of course you're going to watch the super Bowl. It's
the super Bowl. Oh could this be a game that
that sets records for Super Bowl viewership? It could be
because the Chiefs of the New Evil Empire. Man, you
saw what the ratings are for their games this year.

(37:07):
They've gone from a team that no one can believe
how popular they are so fast with Patrick Mahomes, to
a team that I can't stand them because my home
and the Chiefs get all the calls and I just
want them to lose. They're way more like the New
York Yankees over the course of the past three weeks
than anybody wants to admit. And the worst part for
Super Bowl is I hate the super Bowl. I get
it if it's two teams that generally don't get there.

(37:28):
They're like, boy, here's a couple of new teams that
I don't like. Oh it's the Texans, you know, it's
the Texans and the Cardinals, or you know something like that,
Oh my god, these two. But still it's a Super Bowl, right,
And I'm just I'm just throwing those teams out them
and saying anything bad about the Texas of the Cardinals,
just if it's not a traditional super Bowl team, because
you know, look, basically, the same teams get to the
Super Bowl almost every year in the AFC. But the

(37:51):
Chiefs in such a short amount of time have flipped
the script into becoming the evil Empire. Usually it takes
a while to hate on a team or hate a
hate on a quarterback or whoever, because they win and
it and it really goes over a period of time.
But this is so instantaneous because of the officiating calls

(38:12):
that Patrick Mahomes has beneficiary of, and him flopping out
of bounds did more to push that narrative than anything
he could have possibly said outside of the game, Like
this has become a game because of that. Those here
tell me, You're not gonna why I hate the Super Bowl.
You're gonna be standing the top of your lung screaming
for the Chiefs to lose.

Speaker 2 (38:31):
But guess what that's interest in the super Bowl. The
beauty of it is you can hate watch both sides.
I mean, you don't have to pick a side for that. Yeah, yeah, true.
You can root against both teams. You could hope for
a scoreless tie. It's like me watching a Lion's Vikings
game or the ad the Packers in, Like if they're
having some ground robin between the three of them, I

(38:52):
hope they all lose, but I'm really realistic they're gonna
score points along the way. So so how I always
argued fantasy football with folks that would want to get
about it, like, look, on average, the Packers are gonna
score this many points. I don't have to like it,
but why should I not benefit from that by having
one of them on my squad? Even if yes, I'm

(39:13):
from Chicago and I like the Bears. In this case,
you know, my homes and the Chiefs follow this same
time timelines and cycles as we've seen, and it's a
microwave society, right. The Warriors were great for what a
year and a half, two years of their run before
it became a all right, I've had enough. What's next? Oh,

(39:33):
Kevin Durant showed up. Now I get to hate them
even more, right, I don't like their style. And they
added this guy and there's Draymond and Steph Curry just
kind of kept doing his thing. I mean, look, how
annoyed you got? How many minutes did we devote to
you hating on his mouthpiece chewing?

Speaker 1 (39:50):
I don't think God the only one that hates seeing
him chew on his mouth Stop showing him chewing on
his mouthpiece.

Speaker 2 (39:55):
We don't, you know.

Speaker 1 (39:56):
That's why, Like in movies when they show people brushing
their teeth, I'm like, I gotta look away, Like, why
do you have people talking about they're brushing their teeth?

Speaker 2 (40:02):
Just stop. That's the worst. That's the worst habit to have.
It's well to show that they're just like us. They
put their pants on one leg at a time, shoes,
and they go out and they brush their teeth, and
they're trying to keep and teach good hygiene habits. It's
also product placement for whatever, you know, toothpaste or toothbrush
or whatever. They're doing there.

Speaker 1 (40:22):
So when I put my under a rod, we make
gold plated records. Never question Bruce Dickinson. All right, well
that is one hundred percent true. You never want to
do that.

Speaker 2 (40:29):
But the larger point is you know, whether it's the flopping,
whether it's the referee scandal. I sent you guys a thing,
right gore and that do the animal farm hats that
I've got a little collection of today was a crooked
zebra hat. So I mean, everybody's leading into it. It's
good theater. So you want to hate, watch great come

(40:52):
back for Kendrill Glomar, or don't go watch a puppy ball,
go for a walk, hug your kids, have a catch.
The game will be there waiting for you when you
finally come to your senses.

Speaker 1 (41:06):
And look, everybody's gonna watch right this, this is I
hate this.

Speaker 2 (41:10):
Okay, that's great. I just want to hate stuffs.

Speaker 1 (41:12):
Why you're gonna watch and it's gonna be incredibly highly
rated because the Evil Empire is gonna.

Speaker 2 (41:17):
Make sure Tom Brady's on the call. Everybody gets the TV.

Speaker 1 (41:21):
I want him to say I hate Mahomes, He's not
as good as I am.

Speaker 2 (41:24):
I really want to see him say that during he sucks.

Speaker 1 (41:27):
Coming up next, we have another big story out of
the NFL. Does this mean one quarterback has to leave
his team? That's next Fox
