Coming up in twenty minutes, I'm gonna hear from Lebron James.
He was asked following the Lakers big win tonight over
the Clippers, what it's gonna be like teaming up with
Luka Doncic and as he's ready to go for the
Luca Era with the Lakers. He was on the sideline tonight. Oh,
the NBA is saying you want to take the Christmas
Day games from us, NFL, We're gonna take Super Bowl
(01:16):
Week from you. We're gonna dominate the headlines. And good
luck trying to find something. So you'll hear from Lebron
coming up in a few minutes, who is ready for
his partnership with Luca to start. It could be as
early as later on this week. Luca could play in
the next game of the Lakers play.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
Do we have any results of ratings for NFL Media
Night against any NBA games that were on cable television yesterday?
Speaker 1 (01:40):
NFL Media Night ratings, Let me see what we got here, NFL.
Speaker 3 (01:45):
Just wondering, because I mean, you got the headlines you did.
You also had this. This was a huge news jump
on a Saturday night. Yeah, I really hate Saturday night.
I mean, you were calling me frantically. I thought you,
you know, off a finger eating cheese or something.
Speaker 4 (02:02):
You foolishly picked up Mike, Well I did.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
Hey, he normally doesn't call me, so normally eat on
a Saturday. We normally leave each other alone, except for
I saw a movie, You saw a movie. It's a
text or there's a funny gift, and then we go
on our separate ways.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
So if you're texting.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
All the time, here's a pied Alonzo bobblehead that shows
him on bob Uker's shoulders.
Speaker 3 (02:22):
Oh hey, if that existed, whoa, whoa, whoa, wow.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
I mean, the the ultimate party gift.
Speaker 4 (02:34):
You don't think Mike's bidding on that bobble head. He
maybe he has his own version of it. I don't know.
Speaker 3 (02:40):
I might have produced them. You have no idea.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
I have a feeling if you ever went through remember
in Silence of the Lambs when they went through.
Speaker 4 (02:47):
The uh come on and sounds of lands.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
When when Hannibal Lector gives them the uh the tip
about going to find the guy's head in the car
in the garage and they go through the garage, it's
all kinds of stuff everywhere. The open up the trunk
and it's this guy's head in a in a in
a big jar. I got a feeling if you know,
if you disappeared and someone they went through your you know,
your house where you live, like that's exactly the kind
(03:10):
of stuff they would find. Look at this, whoa, whoa,
look at it. You thought it was just all trading cards. No, No,
it's all kinds of crazy ass stuff.
Speaker 3 (03:19):
Can I sue him for that? Steve Frostburg, I mean,
come on, look, that's slanderous or something.
Speaker 4 (03:31):
You should probably lawyer up.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
It's a bit underhanded. It's my best friend, my ass here,
super Bowl Week, all the pomp and circumstances.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
Hey, I'm excited that there was a report today. You
guys almost got Saquon Barkley in the offseason.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
Into the wrist of Also, you know they were the
mystery bidders and mystery teams.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
It's a bunch of lies.
Speaker 5 (03:55):
The Bears, the Bears, the Bears, Stop Bear, Bears, Stop Bears.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
No, still having problems with the guy saying I've just
remembered people and they're hiding around my house.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
I think we're kind of burying the lead here.
Speaker 5 (04:12):
Off of what he knows introducing Jason. He's just gonna
start cooking his Fama beans.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
I didn't with a nice canty. I didn't say that.
I said stuff like that. You're the one that says.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
Oh, you think there's terrible human being.
Speaker 5 (04:25):
No, I said stuff like that'sn't a terribly good compliment.
Notice how Harmon didn't say there's no, there's no crazy
stuff like that in my house.
Speaker 4 (04:32):
So you were you crazy?
Speaker 2 (04:34):
What's the point.
Speaker 4 (04:36):
He could make it on the one of these Storage
Wars show. You ever seen that?
Speaker 3 (04:42):
On it?
Speaker 4 (04:44):
You get inside it's cards.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
No, wow, it's a mannequin that's dressed completely like Paul Knerko.
Speaker 4 (04:51):
Wow, I didn't. I didn't think that. Didn't get one
of those back here?
Speaker 1 (04:54):
Okay, all right, great, but he's wearing the old white
Sox uniforms of the seventies when they wore the shorts.
That's a really nice let's go Carmen and shorts.
Speaker 4 (05:04):
This is see it's a shorts thing. Steve, Oh, you're
right about that.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
But if you love anymore, if you want to get
to who had the no good, very bad Judy Moody
in the not Bummer Summer worst day, look no further
than Anthony Davis, because his days got even worse when
we first talked about this a couple hours ago. All right, now,
just think about how bad a day eighty had, because
(05:28):
this is what he went through today. Okay, So Luka
Doncic gets introduced as the lakers next big superstar a
huge press conference today. He spoke everybody watched. Former Laker
luminaries were there, the media was there, the.
Speaker 4 (05:41):
Press was there.
Speaker 1 (05:42):
It was a huge hero's welcome for Luca, who had
this all set up for him.
Speaker 4 (05:46):
And here's Ad. What did what did? What did he do?
Speaker 1 (05:49):
He was at practice, standing on the court and he
stepped to the side where the where the cameras were,
so we can answer questions like that. No, big heroes
welcome for Ad. No, this is a guy defensively's gonna
bring us a championship. Just hey, whatever you guys want
to ask me, I'm cool. He says, he's over the trade,
he's ready to go, excited to play. At some point,
hopefully the next week he's gonna be able to get back.
(06:09):
But like, here's Luca who gets this big Oh, welcome
to La. Everybody throws their arms around him. Everybody was
waiting to see him get off the plane two nights ago.
And he does the LA with both hands and Ad
is like, oh yeah, you guys hanging around, Yeah, all right,
I ask him, I'm ready, I'll ask you some questions. God,
what do you got? And he's just standing in the
middle of the black practice floor. This is not quite
(06:30):
exactly the experience Luca had in LA.
Speaker 3 (06:33):
Surprised they didn't have Randy Newman playing for him, or
he had flee out there slapping the base or whatever
the case may be a little more you know, horns
and whistles for Luca, but certainly a decided departure, although
to be fair, Anthony Davis was was able to practice.
Speaker 4 (06:55):
Yeah, so that's not look at he's gonna come back,
at least.
Speaker 3 (06:57):
Show up in the cause he because he didn't play tonight,
which allowed for the triumphant return of Joel emb.
Speaker 4 (07:05):
So there's your number one thing. That Okay, so that's
already not a good.
Speaker 3 (07:10):
Day advantage Luca.
Speaker 4 (07:11):
Then you get this from the Mavericks during the day.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
The Mavericks announced, Hey, we understand you guys are really
upset we traded Luca. So we're gonna offer refunds on
season tickets for the rest of this season. Wait a minute,
I thought this was a championship or bus team. We're
ready to win right now. They will take money, they
will they will pay you back if you want to
sell your season tickets. Could be as much as two
(07:35):
thousand dollars per person if you want to sell your
season tickets back. Boy, I feel good that this feels
eight and fills a D with a lot of confidence. Hey, no,
we love you here, man, but just they'll be less
people the games because you know, people want to sell
their season tickets back to the team, and we're gonna
buy them back. Like We're not gonna try to sit
here and say no, no, don't do this. You want
to buy them back. Will allow you to allow you
to sell your season tickets back to us, and that's
(07:57):
how we're gonna go forward here.
Speaker 4 (07:58):
So that's part one for him. Then he's got to
here tonight.
Speaker 1 (08:01):
Following the Mavericks loss to the to the seventy six
ers that Kyrie Irving said, quote, it's still a grieving
process for him.
Speaker 4 (08:08):
I miss my Ermano right way, I got it.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
But dude, you could have said this anytime in the
last few days. Now AD's there on the floor practicing. Yeah,
I'm grieving. I'm missing Miremano. Hey man, you're playing. You
got a D there, Meg. You had three days to say, hey, sorry, man,
gonna miss you.
Speaker 4 (08:24):
No, no, no, no, no, gonna say this here.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
So boy, I feel great if I'm a D first
in the morning with the difference, but what but the
press conference was and then what the Mavericks did with
the season tickets, and now Kyrie basically said, yeah, don't
ask me about anything else.
Speaker 4 (08:38):
I'm still grieving.
Speaker 3 (08:40):
Yeah, all right, So the Kyrie Irving, I mean, first
real media availability, I guess to where he's front and
center being asked about this stuff, and then eight's over there,
so you know, it's, you know, the great reality show
that is professional sports here caught live in living color.
And for Kyri Re Irving, who, let's face it, he's
(09:01):
had some his own issues that he had to battle through.
Right last year. Was he gonna be a great teammate
for Luca? Was he gonna go asunder? Was he going
to be available? All of those things? Instead they run
to the NBA Finals, So you know, a little bit
of love fest on the way out, not necessarily a
slight for Ad'd be nice if he went on a
nice four or five minutes soliloquy talking about how much
(09:24):
he's admired his play and all that stuff. But maybe
another time. As for the season ticket thing, I have
some questions because they say the refund could be as
much as two grand, right, so based on the number
of games remaining. I mean that's basically the three hundred level,
because that's an average is one hundred and seventeen bucks
a ticket for the remaining home dates. So either they're
(09:45):
telling you, hey, we'll buy him back at a fraction
of the cost, or really they're just telling the folks
that are up in the third level.
Speaker 1 (09:54):
Look, if you have heads, you're sol But if you
have the bad seats, like call me do something well, or.
Speaker 3 (10:01):
If you're in the real good seats, you want to
keep your really good seats. We're reaching versus, Hey, we're
walking away from our courtside seats that took years to
get and some sponsorships and some other make goods and
all of those partnerships that we have versus you know,
JQ public and his one hundred and seventeen bucks a night.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
We're reaching out to the blue collar fan. We want
to make sure that they understand we're thinking about them
and if you know, if they want to sell their tickets,
but we understand their pain, you know, training this So
that's enough for ad. But oh no, no, no, no no.
Coming over the top late in the day was Lakers
GM Rob Polinka, who to backtrack a little bit, the
(10:42):
final straw, let's just say with the Lakers and Ad right,
because each team had had it with their respective star right.
The Mavericks had had it with Luca, the Lakers were
not happy with Anthony Davis. The last straw, apparently was
when Ad said, Hey, we need a center. If we
had a center like we did in twenty twenty and
I could play power forward, oh man, it's gonna win
(11:04):
the title.
Speaker 4 (11:04):
Okay, never mind that. Where the hell is Lebron gonna play? No? No, no,
We did that, so that was the final straw.
Speaker 1 (11:11):
When they had JaVale McGee and a twenty twenty Dwight Howard, Right,
that's what they needed. Rob Polinka did not mince words,
not like he just said yes or I had a
two word answer. He went in great detail to explain that, yes,
the Lakers are looking for a center as they get
closer to the deadline, and he went he talked about how, hey,
(11:33):
you want somebody who can run the floor, someone who's
a rim protector. Are you gonna get that guy? Well,
we're we're gonna try. I don't know if that guy
is out there, but we're gonna really try. We know
how important this is for the team. Uh, but but
what do you do if you can't do it, well
we have we have some options going on. He went
through all sorts of different of different reasonings about how
(11:54):
they're gonna go out and get a center. Hey, Ad,
you said we needed a center. Now you're not on
the team, We're still going out to get that center.
How do you feel about that? We're not done. We're
still gonna go out and get the center that you
wanted when you were here, but now you're in Dallas,
you're not gonna get him. This is if I'm Anthony Davis,
after what happened today, I just say, hey, Dallas, look
I get it, but uh I need a couple of days, man,
(12:16):
because this is this is this is really really difficult.
I went from no press conference this morning, no heroes welcome,
you're giving back season tickets, Kyrie is still mourning, Lucy
losing Luca, and the Lakers are still going out to
get the guys I said they had to get when
I was on the team, and I'm not in the
team anymore. Uh that that is what it's called a
bad day for Anthony Davis.
Speaker 3 (12:36):
Well, you can go get JaVale McGee. He's currently playing
for the Vaccaro St Bayamon.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
Oh, I want the Lakers to go out and get
exactly those two. If you that's we're away from God.
We're gonna go out and get Javel McGee and Dwight
Howard and they're gonna play just like.
Speaker 2 (12:49):
In Puerto Rico. Right now, go get them.
Speaker 4 (12:51):
Just like in twenty twenty.
Speaker 1 (12:52):
We're gonna get the same exact guys to come back
and play to win the chap because that's you said
you want, That's who.
Speaker 4 (12:57):
We won with in twenty toys who we're gonna win with, Jason.
Speaker 1 (12:59):
You just wait till the Knicks call us, tell us
you guys want cat Yeah, sure, laugh in your face.
Speaker 4 (13:07):
Yeah, that's gonna happen.
Speaker 3 (13:08):
By the way, this is evidently the second most populated
town and they're known for their pork ridings.
Speaker 4 (13:14):
I'm ready. I'm ready for the Knicks Lakers NBA Finals.
I'm ready. I think. I don't think there's anything bigger
than that. If you saw anything Saturday night, it's not
gonna ar well for you, buddy.
Speaker 3 (13:22):
I'll tell you what though, if that actually comes to fruition,
people will be claiming more things are fixed than anything
that happens.
Speaker 4 (13:30):
Well, maybe maybe Carl Cheffers will wind up doing the
NBA Finals. You never know.
Speaker 5 (13:35):
Carl Cheffer's exit out about a Fresca exit swolling down
The Jason Smith Show with the Mike Carment live from

Speaker 1 (13:42):
So, hey, if you see Anthony Davis next couple of
days and give him a little bit of space the guy.
The guy could use a little break. He did not
have a really good last sixteen hours. But coming up next,
we got more on this big trade. You want to
see if you want to know what this Lakers trade
sort of reminds me of. It's great news for them.
That more coming up next right here, Jason to Mike

Speaker 4 (15:15):
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (15:16):
The Jason Smith Show with My best friend Kate Pearson,
Jason Smith, Mike Harmon live from the tie rack dot
com studios. The Lakers absolutely roll the Clippers. Earlier tonight
game wasn't close like Saturday's game. Jase, Well, well that
(15:38):
game got close a little bit.
Speaker 4 (15:40):
You won one game.
Speaker 1 (15:41):
Congratulations, the game is irrelevant now, it's absolutely Okay, that's
a check we have. Okay, we'll see you in the finals. Checkmate,
We'll see you in the finals. Man, we won't see
you that get past Embiid. You're not You're gonna get
past Oklahoma City. Absolutely not getting past them. Beat buddy,
We're not getting past them.
Speaker 3 (16:00):
Hey, you don't know what the NBA is gonna look
like in forty eight out.
Speaker 1 (16:03):
I could walk past mb I could get by NBA.
I just walked right around him.
Speaker 4 (16:07):
He s how you do it.
Speaker 1 (16:08):
The reps give the Chiefs every call waiting to see
Luca Lakers.
Speaker 2 (16:11):
Ah, all right, well that is true.
Speaker 3 (16:13):
He will have a six foot force field around him.
Speaker 1 (16:18):
So the Lakers win big tonight and Luka Doncic is
on the bench. Didn't play, could play in the Lakers
next game, most likely will play in the next game.
But it's having fun laughing on the sideline with his
new teammates, and the Lakers certainly put on a show
for him. Seventy five percent from the floor in the
first quarter, they scored forty five points.
Speaker 4 (16:37):
And that was it. You could ended the game right there.
Speaker 1 (16:39):
You could have had the Clippers wall be part of
the game, and it wouldn't matter because the Lakers just
steamrolled then. And then Lebron got to talk to the
media a few minutes ago, and boy was he entertaining.
Of course, all the questions are going to be about
Luca here with the team, we're getting ready for the
Luka doncic Era. And here's the first Lebron James quote.
(17:00):
He was asked by reporters, Hey, do you feel the
Lakers prioritizing the long term signing Luca don getting Luca
Dont's you know, twenty five, twenty six years old, and
sacrificing the short term in winning a championship, basically saying, hey,
do you think the Lakers got this move to be
better after you're gone? And here's Lebron's very blunt response
(17:20):
to that question.
Speaker 3 (17:21):
Or are you that's kind of concern that, I mean,
for any there was some debate around this team right
about how much of your future do you.
Speaker 4 (17:27):
Sacrifice to kind of go all in and kind of
maximize your window.
Speaker 3 (17:31):
Any concerns that because you've brought in a young star,
that some of these priorities kind of might ship more
towards the future rather than the president. What's wrong with that?
Speaker 6 (17:41):
Bad? Concerned about it? Wave my no trade clause and
got a body.
Speaker 1 (17:48):
I mean, really, it is kind of a stupid question
because it's not like they traded for Cooper Flag. You know, like, hey,
he's gonna need a couple of years, but boy, the
guy's gonna be really good. You traded for a top
three player in the NBA. Already, what are you courts?
He's on course, Lebron is gonna stay.
Speaker 4 (18:02):
He's really you really think he's gonna leave?
Speaker 1 (18:04):
First of all, remember, of course Lebron is going to stay.
He's wanted to play with Luca for a long time.
He has said it. If he was unhappy, he wouldn't
have been as giddy during the post game after the
Knicks they beat the Knicks on Saturday, Lebron's triple double,
he was happy. There's no way you could tell me
he didn't know that trade was going down at that point.
He's the one guy who has been very vocal. I
(18:26):
said goodbye to Ad very happy. Look at the energy
he came out with tonight. Of course he's gonna stay.
He doesn't mind that it's gonna, you know, slowly give
this team over to Luka Doncich because he doesn't care
about the regular season. Lebron's not gonna Luca can be
the story. It's fine. Story during the regular season is fine.
Story during the early part of the playoffs is fine.
Even to the Western Conference finals is fine. But and
(18:50):
this is where Lebron's okay with it. When it comes
to the finals, then it's his team because that's what
Lebron is about. Getting to the finals and then winning
NBA finals. That's what Lebron is about, that's his legacy.
He doesn't care. Now if he can play less minutes,
if Luca is able to lead the hey awesome, right,
he doesn't care. But when it comes to the finals,
(19:10):
then it's going to be my team. And that's what
I'm gonna give you those triple double knights and give
you that something extra special. And Luca will kind of
take a back seat to me a bit here because
I can still do this at forty that nobody else
in the history of sports has been able to do
at this age. That's how good I can still be.
So yeah, he's fine with Luca. He'll give all the
attention to everything else is great. Those fine, what it
(19:31):
gets to the finals, I'm okay, But then it's my time.
And that's how Lebron is going to deal with this
and go forward.
Speaker 3 (19:37):
And this is where you know, I'm swimming in my
head with all the villainy, you know, since I was,
you know, exposed in Jason's deranged mind as potentially Hannibal
Lecter earlier. You got to listen to the whole show.
Is I look for the heel turn. He actually has
a guy now that could be vilified if it goes south.
Speaker 2 (20:00):
It won't necessarily be Lebron's fault.
Speaker 3 (20:03):
It'll be because Luca's not in shape and not ready
for prime time. It's the greatest of all worlds for Lebron.
If he wins, he gets to pad and add to
his accolades and history. And here he is with another
big run towards an NBA finals. And if they lose
for the first time, the weight is not all on
(20:24):
his shoulders. Oh, it's the greatest of all worlds for him.
I'd be the happiest guy ever with this news. It's matchiavellian.
It's brilliant.
Speaker 4 (20:34):
Now here's more from Lebron.
Speaker 1 (20:36):
You're talking about ad being traded and if you thought
Ad is as close friends as they are and you
don't share the same agent Clutch Sports. If you thought
that Ad was Lebron's favorite teammate, well you'd be mistaken.
Speaker 6 (20:48):
Luca's been my favorite player in the NBA for a while.
I've always just trying to play the game the right
way and inspire, you know, the next generation. Luca happens
to be one of them. And I were teammates, so
it would be a very seamless transition.
Speaker 1 (21:07):
Hey, listen, I like playing with Ab as much as
I did A D. Right, right, right, I like playing
with a D as much as I did. But he
playing with Luca is gonna be awesome. I wish Ab
all the best, sorry, Ad all the best in Dallas.
That that that'll be a terrific night for him.
Speaker 4 (21:20):
I told you this last night.
Speaker 2 (21:23):
By AD.
Speaker 3 (21:26):
Wait a D Who I mean, come on, that was yesterday.
Now it's time it's time to go to work. I mean,
this is my favorite guy for the longest time. Again,
he's setting them up. Man, You kill him with kindness,
because if it goes south, it's all on you. Twenty
five year old, he couldn't take it. Look, Calf was
no good. It was all his fault. I mean, it's brilliant.
Speaker 1 (21:48):
Lebron is even more excited than he lets on because
he wants to be a good teammate. He wants to
be someone who, you know, I don't want people to
think that when they're traded, I'm pushing them out, whatever
it is. But you could tell how excited he is
because if this trade went down and he was not
down with it, he was not in the loop on it,
he would be zero dark twenty three. You would not
(22:11):
hear from him, he wouldn't talk to the media after
he would play in the game. It wouldn't quite be
as motivated as he was. But you can tell he
is in on this trade. He's been in on it
since Saturday night. Again, you can't tell me he didn't
know about it when the game was going on. With
the next look at the night he had the triple
double Knight. How giddy he was in the postgame interview
on the court when normally he's just kind of you know,
(22:32):
putting his you know, wiping his mouth with his jersey,
looking up at the rafters and not really paying attention
to the question. And instead he was all sorts of
engaged big grin ear to ear. He knew what was happening, right,
and this is how excited he is to play. And
I get it because the thing about this, and this
is this is a really big deal now with the Lakers,
is that this Luca trade gives me the vibes that
(22:57):
I had when the Lakers traded for power A Saul
and went on to three straight finals and won two
of them. Because the the energy level and the and
and and what's happened to this team in such short
amount of time. That's what happened back when they made
that trade.
Speaker 4 (23:12):
Right.
Speaker 1 (23:12):
This was Kobe Bryant and the Lakers trying to figure
out their identity. After Shaquille O'Neal went to the Heat
he won the championship with Miami. He's like, oh, I
won my war with Kobe, because I won before he did.
Kobe nearly signed with the Clippers. It was a really
rough time because he was upset the Lakers weren't doing
more to give him good players. He gave lamar Odom,
who was an every other game guy for most of
(23:34):
his maybe every third game guy for most of his career.
You could tell the Lakers were starting to get it
a little bit, and Kobe was learning how to lead
a little bit more.
Speaker 4 (23:43):
But they needed something.
Speaker 1 (23:44):
And really this is back when before the big positionless
NBA that we've hit the last few years, where the
Lakers needed a big He needed somebody that Kobe could
rely on, that he could have a great two man
game with who was who was good at both ends
of the floor and was going to be a solid contributor.
And that's what paw Gasol was. And I knew when
they got Palgasol. I said, they're gonna take off. They're
gonna take off, and because he's exactly what they need.
(24:06):
I think they won nine of their first ten with Gasol,
and suddenly it was this is a championship team. And
again three finals, they lose to the Celtics. They beat
the Magic, they beat the Celtics. This is the same
kind of vibe I'm getting right now that here is. Look,
it wasn't working all the way with ad. Yes, they
had won a few games lately and it was pretty good.
This is the best record they've had at this point
(24:27):
in the regular season since they won the title, so
which is kind of weird the Lakers make this move,
but you knew, Hey, this is not gonna be a
team that's gonna win the title, right, this is not
a title win winning team. And they make this big,
bold move. You know they're gonna play together, and I
got I got great expectations for them when they start. Yeah,
the the Luca in shape thing, that that's a lot.
(24:50):
It's a long term deal. Like that's something that when
we talk about, Hey, it's a big deal for the
Mavericks because the Mavericks is gonna have to give them
three hundred and fifty million dollars this summer, and they
didn't want to do it because they didn't think in
the law it was a good investment. But for right now,
for the Lakers, watch out man, Luca is coming in
with something to prove. Lebron is energized. How are you
gonna stop these guys? Whoever you try to stop, there's
(25:12):
gonna be guys like Reeves and Hatchamore who are gonna
hit shots. I wouldn't be surprised if something the Lakers
come out and theyre scoring one hundred and thirty points a game, Like,
you're gonna get that kind of play from the Lakers
right away, because that's that's the effect that Luca has
on the Lakers with this kind of trade. Man, this
is gonna take the Western Conference by storm right away.
Speaker 3 (25:31):
Well, I like that you're putting it at one hundred
and thirty because they made it, every one of them
in terms of their defense and prowess unless they can
keep rope and doping folks and just keeping in the
jump shooting game. Because if you try to decide to
work inside, I think you'll have some success against them,
just theoretically.
Speaker 1 (25:51):
But but they'll get that big that Rob Palinka says,
I'm gonna go get They're gonna go get that big.
Speaker 3 (25:55):
Hey, the mystery yet he use around the turn. I mean,
you have no idea. Look in the next forty eight hours.
I mean it's an excitement, and it's an injection of
energy into the league. And yes, it gets into the
Super Bowl two weeks. And it took really a lot
of focus away from the work we were doing behind
the scenes to really analyze the Pro Bowl games. The
(26:16):
pinpoint accuracy of Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield and everything
they had going in those competitions, the greatness of the
Manning brothers as coaches, and the fact that Peyton's thirteen
year old throws a better ball than half the starting
quarterbacks of the National Football League. But we'll move on
for that because you know, we've got this injection of
(26:38):
life with the Los Angeles Lakers bringing in Luka Dodget.
I love Anthony Davis. I'm sorry to see him being
put out as if he's the guy in the really
small font on the Marquee on Broadway. It's like, here's
Luca Dodgets. Oh yeah, by the way, that guy's still
a part of the cast. He's won a couple of Tony's.
Doesn't matter. He's not the headliner. He's not the Liszt
(27:00):
Hollywood guy that's come here for six weeks on a
trial run.
Speaker 4 (27:05):
But it's good for the NBA, right.
Speaker 3 (27:07):
It gets everybody talking about what could be impossibilities. We
talk with Rick Buker, and you just have all this
this sense of the unknown, and whether the Lakers go
on a phenomenal tear or not doesn't batter you.
Speaker 2 (27:22):
Pushed more into the NBA.
Speaker 3 (27:25):
And there's more excitement for the second half of the
season than we've had in a long long time. Right,
you get the All Star Game and whatever else, But
the next forty eight hours. I don't know what's real,
what's imagined. How many fake accounts have been created for
all of the would be newsbreakers in the NBA. Does
Woes come out of retirement for forty eight hours to
get in on this because it might just be absolute chaos.
(27:49):
It's great for business and certainly us being in Los Angeles. Look,
everybody loves the Dodgers to have another story running concurrently,
not to mention Mick Cronin's got the UCLA Bruin's playing
with a big win tonight against Michigan State. It's it's
great for business, it's great for the churn and burn,
and for us and the theoretical of what it does.
(28:11):
And for a minute, Lebron James isn't is hated by
the people of Los Angeles because now there's hope again.
Speaker 1 (28:18):
You think anybody called Woes with the tip first and
he told him to blank off.
Speaker 4 (28:22):
Hey, I hate this. Now I have no one here
to talk about this anymore.
Speaker 2 (28:25):
I don't want to go.
Speaker 4 (28:26):
I don't do this. You think they gave him a
call and he said, think about it.
Speaker 3 (28:29):
If he got that call, and he went, huh, that's something.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
Good luck with that a fun yeah. You know, you know,
I don't do this anymore. Right, He's gonna get really
mad and very upset. I don't do that anymore.
Speaker 3 (28:39):
I have a scoop, man, and I'll give it to
you for one million dollars.
Speaker 1 (28:42):
I got to think if someone called Woji would say, oh, okay,
I'll give you this one.
Speaker 4 (28:47):
I'll no, this is one I want. I'll come out.
Speaker 3 (28:50):
With this one, wouldn't you.
Speaker 4 (28:51):
Yeah, I think so. It's the it's the biggest scoopy.
Speaker 1 (28:54):
Look in the last I want to say, fifteen years,
let's just say little little bit less than that, the
two biggest scoops that have come out of nowhere. That boy,
if you asked any insider what scoop would you like
to have, it would have been this trade, right, this
Luca ad trade or the Andrew luck is retiring right,
(29:15):
because these are these are the two incredible stories that
just came out of nowhere and had their own energy
as soon as they happened, Like those are still the
two most shocking things of the last fifteen years that
are strictly sports oriented that I would say, well, I
wish I had those.
Speaker 4 (29:29):
Those are the ones I would have wanted.
Speaker 3 (29:31):
That's pretty good. I like those. I can get on
board with that.
Speaker 4 (29:35):
Why not.
Speaker 3 (29:36):
I mean big stories like this. What's hard is they
kind of get blended together really fast. This is a
rare occurrence where it's just sham's because it was so
off the wall that nobody believed it. Because normally it's like, oh, yeah,
I confirm that. ESPN now confirming.
Speaker 4 (29:53):
It's like no, and I can find that's right.
Speaker 2 (29:56):
The breaking story.
Speaker 3 (29:58):
Unfortunately, it's become comatic dies to where I guess you
can go in and sell it to your bosses to
keep your salary and all. But a lot of the
what's really breaking it gets oh yeah, I confirm it.
Speaker 4 (30:10):
Yeah, it's all good. I got it.
Speaker 2 (30:11):
Now, just ESPN confirms it, everybody knows it.
Speaker 4 (30:14):
I remember when ESPN used.
Speaker 1 (30:15):
To do the whole thing where somebody outside of ESPN
would break a story and they were so hesitant to
give credit to anybody because they thought that suddenly they
would be the end of ESPN. They remember, they would say,
like you would say, just take this trade. For instance,
hey Luka Donsich for Anthony Davis trade, which was first
reported by Jay Glazer and has been confirmed by ESPN,
(30:40):
like it wasn't a real thing until ESPN said we're
able to confirm it. Like, come on, guys, there's a
big sports world outside of Bristol. Come on, you can't
do that. I can't believe they did that for that long.
It was embarrassing. Oh it's been confirmed now, Oh, okay,
got you guys confirmed it.
Speaker 4 (30:53):
That's great.
Speaker 3 (30:54):
Well, I've never bowed to the altar of the almighty
four letter. I ain't gonna start now.
Speaker 1 (31:00):
I've got to find out what's trending in the wide
world of sports. But guy who they say is the
Adrian Wojarowski of Fox Sports Radio, he did one thing
really good for a long time, and now if you
ask him about it, he tells you to take a hike.
Speaker 4 (31:12):
It's Steve the Sager with what's trending.
Speaker 5 (31:14):
I think woes did break that Doncis was being traded
to Saint Bonaventure. He still has so much eligibility remaining.
Who knew Lakers did win the late game at the
Clippers one, twenty two to ninety seven. Lakers scored forty
five points in the first quarter when they shot seventy
five percent from the floor. Eighteen of twenty four by halftime.
It was seventy three to fifty Lebron James twenty six points.
(31:37):
Lakers have won nine of eleven in the lost James
Harden two of twelve shooting and nine assists. The Lakers
did introduce Luka Doncic at a media conference today. He
will practice Wednesdays, should play Saturday afternoon. He's been out
since Christmas with a strained calf. Portland won at home
against Indiana. Blazers have won nine of ten at Chicago.
The Bulls were trailing Miami by twelve with about ten
(31:59):
minutes to go, but came back for a win. Boston
won at Cleveland. Brooklyn stole one against Houston. In fact,
it was Keon Johnson with a late three pointer.
Speaker 2 (32:08):
Six point nine cuts the lead to one.
Speaker 3 (32:11):
Rockets inbounding turn it over nets to steal Russell of
three go look great point for.
Speaker 2 (32:19):
Net's take the lead.
Speaker 3 (32:20):
Wow.
Speaker 5 (32:22):
Chris Corredo WFA. D'Angelo Russell had been two of fourteen
shooting from the floor and hit that game winning three
ninety nine ninety seven nets over the Rockets. Houston All
Star center Alpa and Schengun did return from the Bruins calf.
He had missed three games at twenty four points twenty rebounds,
but in a loss Karl Anthony Towns of New York
(32:42):
twenty seven points twenty rebounds and a win at Toronto
one twenty one one fifteen. Jalen Brunson scored twenty eight points.
The next og On Nanobi was out again with a
spring foot, and Philadelphia got Joel ANDBII back on the
court for the first time in a month after the
knee injury, and Philly edge. Dallas won eighteen one sixteen.
Is in Bed had a triple double, including twenty nine points,
(33:03):
Teammate Tyrese Maxi thirty three points and thirteen assists. Yes
Anthony Davis, now with the MAVs, was out. He's missed
a week with the abdominal strain. Kevin Durant to the Suns,
doubtful for Wednesday with the sprained ankle. Dearon Fox will
be available for his new team, the Spurs tomorrow. The
league's tread Tate trade deadline is Thursday. We'll see about
(33:23):
Giannison Tetecumpo and Damian Lillard tomorrow for the Bucks. Each
missed the last game. Each questionable for Wednesday due to
injuries and thunder All star Jalen Williams questionable for tomorrow
with a sprain risk. In college hoops, UCLA beat number
nine Michigan State sixty three sixty one. Top twenty five
matchup at ol Miss went to the Rebels beating Kentucky
(33:43):
ninety eight eighty four. In fact, Old Miss had just
won turnover in the game the late contest to twenty
thranked Arizona winning at BYU eighty five seventy four. Among
the fourteen NHL games, Boston shutout Minnesota. Winnipeg won at
seventh straight, shutting out Carolina ro a six to three
winner at Calgary.
Speaker 4 (34:01):
Back to You, Thank You, Steve.

The Jason Smith Show with My best Friend Mike Harmon
live from the Tirack dot Com Studios.
Speaker 4 (34:09):
Coming up next.
Speaker 1 (34:10):
Yes, the Luca Anthony Davis trade has had all the
headlines the last three days. Are we about to see
a trade that takes those headlines away?
Speaker 4 (34:20):
That's next, Jason to Mike Fox.
Speaker 2 (34:24):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 4 (34:33):
Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with My Best.
Speaker 1 (34:36):
Friend Mike Harmon live from the Tirack dot Com studios.
So Luc and ad have had the big spotlight for
the last three days. We'll continue on as we're waiting
for them to play their first game with their new teams.
But as we get closer to the trade deadline of Thursday,
or we about to see those headlines go to Kevin Durant, who,
(34:57):
according to different reports, is either not going to be
traded by the Phoenix Suns or the Sons are listening
to offers and will look to move Phoenix. We'll look
to move him. Uh Matteshba said, hey, he's not gonna
trade Kevin Durant. However, we've had many reports the last
couple of days that the Sons are listening to offers
for Kevin Durant. Now, the first thing I'm gonna say
is this, I'm really but what makes me upset? I'm
(35:19):
bummed because I thought, what did I say beginning of
the season, Kd's gonna be a Laker at the deadline.
He's absolutely gonna be a Laker. That that's the move
they're gonna make, and it's gonna be Lebron and k D.
You know, still scoring twenty seven, twenty eight points a game, right,
and ad that's how it's gonna go. But now I
think the Luca trade is and I don't think they're
gonna be in on Kevin Durant. I'm upset that that
prediction is not gonna come true.
Speaker 3 (35:39):
Mike, Well, whenever there's a little little bit of a
wrinkle the things. I mean, what happens if Jimmy Butler
gets traded there and then he realizes Kevin Durant's not
there anymore?
Speaker 4 (35:49):
Oh, hey, can I see k D. Yeah, yeah, we'll
introduce you to him in a minute.
Speaker 1 (35:53):
Just we're gonna take you around and show you where
everything goes and where your locker is gonna be and
everything else.
Speaker 4 (35:58):
But it really wanted me to Yeah, well, we'll get
to him in a second. Worry about it. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (36:02):
I think the best of it all though, is, you know,
with the Luca trade, and Rick Buker said it, and
it's something you and I have now said for since
since we got got rolling with this yesterday, is all
bets are off. Man like Nikola Jokicic could say nobody's
safe and whatever, but legitimately, how many of the front
(36:23):
offices were in meetings late Saturday night into Sunday morning. Hey,
we're having brunch at the office. Why, it's like, well,
if they can make that move, what what?
Speaker 2 (36:33):
What? What do we got? What are we looking at?
Contract wise? What are we looking at?
Speaker 3 (36:37):
Uh? You know where we're at on the aprons and all?
We never heard the word apron though nearly enough.
Speaker 4 (36:43):
We still got two more days ago, don't we still
have a couple more days to go.
Speaker 3 (36:47):
We'll be all just the potential chaos with it. And
and Kevin Durant think about it. If he walks back,
there's Draymond Green? Is he is he hug him? Does
he smile at him?
Speaker 4 (36:57):
Real?
Speaker 2 (36:57):
Pretty? I mean, I mean, what what is that re union?
Speaker 4 (37:00):
Like?
Speaker 3 (37:01):
Come on, it's it's great theater.
Speaker 1 (37:03):
Look, I would have to say this right when you
put a stud And it's weird because Kevin Durant has
said he's wanted to be traded before and sometimes it's worked,
and sometimes the teams just ignore him.
Speaker 4 (37:16):
So but the Suns, the Sons.
Speaker 1 (37:20):
Aren't really going anywhere, right, They're a five hundred team
and they're not gonna add anybody. This is not gonna
be Well, now we got to go get somebody, No,
because you still have you still have a really oddly
put together roster, and all the other teams that you've
seen in the West. Look, the Lakers got better, the
Thunder is still the top of the league. Maybe Dallas
(37:40):
got better, depending on how well they play with AD
because they're a five hundred team as well. San Antonio
for sure got better. You're not going to get better
and already you're a five hundred team. So I'd have
to say, if I had to bet one way or
the other, Kevin Durant's gonna get dealt by the deadline.
He's gonna wind up hitting it, hitting with a team that, hey,
(38:01):
we could just be a KD away from really contending. Now,
is it gonna wind up being Golden State Boy? That's
gonna be a tough sell. I mean, I think it's
gonna be tough for everybody involved. Like, hey, I know
they're kind of testing the waters on it, but I
don't I don't know that KD is gonna get to
go somewhere in the West. It's gonna have to go
back East to a team that maybe he can he
can be a guy that helps put them over the top,
(38:23):
because that'd be a real That's a really tough thing
for me to see the Suns trade him within the
Western Conference to a team that maybe gets past them
and maybe is a KD away from it, because look,
no matter what, he's a guy that still gets his
points right, He's still gonna He's still scoring twenty seven
a game.
Speaker 4 (38:38):
This is not hey.
Speaker 1 (38:39):
Kd's gone from being a thirty point a game score
to twenty eight to twenty seven, to twenty four to
twenty two to twenty one. No, he's still a guy
that can light it up in the right situation. Boy,
he can really be a help. But I really that
would I'd be really be amazed that they traded him
somewhere in the West.
Speaker 3 (38:54):
You know what's funny is you talk about the Suns
and trying to evaluate what they are. We talk a
lot of movies and TV, and what's the most innocuous
thing you could say about a movie, It was a
good watch. That's kind of what the Suns are. They're
not good. There's nothing they do spectacular, But boy, they
got a couple of guys you really love to watch play.
Speaker 1 (39:15):
Bask You never know when somebody to score sixty in
a game and They may not win, but they cant
have somebody score sixty.
Speaker 3 (39:21):
That's it. They're a fun watch. And there they are
at twenty five and twenty four. I'd like to send
them to Detroit. Let's figure that out.
Speaker 4 (39:27):
Oh that would be fun, man, I would because look,
Detroit's not bad.
Speaker 1 (39:30):
Look it's funny you say Detroit because of the couple
of teams I was, you know, looking where he might
be able to really help in the East. Boy, Detroit
would be fun.
Speaker 4 (39:38):
They you know, they're fun. They're five hundred.
Speaker 1 (39:40):
Look at Detroit is having a sports renaissance now, Man,
Michigan wins the National Championship. You had the Tigers winning
a hair's breadth of moving on and making it the Alcs,
and now they're having a big off. They just got
Jack Flaherty back because some reason nobody signed the people
just forgot he was out there right now.
Speaker 4 (39:57):
You got the Pistons are now a five one hundred teen.
The Lions are a super Bowl caliber team.
Speaker 2 (40:03):
Like, well, that's true.
Speaker 1 (40:05):
This is a sports renaissance time man and KD with
the Pistons, Boy, that would be so much fun.
Speaker 3 (40:11):
Well, because you got Milwaukee that's reportedly gonna get Jordan
Poole as part of a deal that's been rumored all night.
So we'll see if that comes to fruition. But you
know that that bottom half of the the teams that
are in Yeah, Detroit could suddenly add Kevin Durant. Oh
think about that, or.
Speaker 1 (40:28):
Or or look at Miami, right, Miami being a team
they get to convince Jimmy Butler to stay and hey,
well we'll go.
Speaker 4 (40:34):
We'll go with KD.
Speaker 1 (40:35):
Suddenly we'll try to make a run here in the East.
Like I really, it's it's hard for me to see
all the I know, all these teams there. It's hard
for me to see Phoenix saying yes will help you
get past us in the standings and move, especially when
it's not like you're gonna get a ton for Katie
because the guy is in his mid thirties and he's
got trouble staying on the court, and so I.
Speaker 4 (40:53):
Just maybe the.
Speaker 2 (40:58):
Frosty just yet. Pl Nico Yo.
Speaker 1 (41:04):
Exit, albouta Fresca exit, Swollen do on the Jason Smith
Show with my best friend Mike Carmen.
Speaker 4 (41:09):
Come up next, my buddy Ben Mallard. This is Fox
Sports Radio.
