studios tirac dot com. I'll help you get there. An
unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free roadhazard protection, and over
ten thousand recommended installers. Tireract dot Com is the way
tire buying should be. Well, yeah, that from last night
(00:48):
posts Luca Donge his first game as a Laker. I
think I just got shaded by JJ Reddick a little bit.
I'm on the seventy five eighty percent that he's beef
with me, which I didn't know we were beefing, but
apparently I live rent free. Then his head there? All right?
Fan of the show, all right, I mean when he
(01:11):
got hired, was I critical of him. Yes, was I
critical of the Lakers, and look, how could you not be, though,
and then when they traded for Luca and you saw
what they did the last week, of course, you know, look,
this is a team. They've turned into a championship caliber team.
They are playing at the best level I've had in
four years. Now, if you helped to inspire, yeah, any
of the coaching adjustments, or maybe he's working a little
(01:32):
harder to try to show you up, then that's all
for the best. But anybody with will do the half
a brain for lack of a better term, here, I
had to realize that his arrival would not come without
some level of skepticism, criticism, or proper analysis saying show me, well,
(01:58):
remember this time last year. He's also the guy spewing
out hot takes on ESPN about sports, right, he was
doing a year ago. But I mean he dismissed an
entire well not one, but multiple generations of players, one
for six, eight eight, six generations of players, including some
of the luminaries that are now showing up at Laker
(02:22):
games and have given him praise for a job to
this point. Pretty well done. We'll stipulate to that, and
certainly in the last couple of weeks, they've played some
really good basketball and had some big point totals. You
add Luka Doncics, and now it's like, all right, eyebrow raise,
let's see what happens. But all of that to say,
(02:43):
in his former life as a pundit pretty much dismissed
everybody he played with and anybody that played before it.
He forgets where he came from a year ago. This
is what he was doing, and now I didn't. Now,
to be fair, I did go back and look through
Twitter because I know what I've said about the Lakers
for the entire season, and I was comfortable. I'm comfortable
with everything I always I don't think he always comfortable in
(03:04):
the end the show is that day. But then then
it went back. I looked at Twitter, and I was like, oh,
that's a funny joke, but yeah, I can see where
he would hate that. Oh I could see where he
would hate that. Oh that was funny, but yeah, I
can see where he would hate that. So I can
see on Twitter where he'd be said with some of
the stuff. But outside of that, I'm like, Okay, yeah,
you never know who you live rent free in the
heads of you never know, Yeah, you can appreciate a
(03:25):
little bit of snark, Yeah, a little bit of biting
criticism and snarkiness. I mean, look again, the fact that
he occupied a spot in media for as long as
he did. Man, it's not even anywhere near the buffoonery
that he either spewed or was part of and engaged
(03:45):
with in many of those prior stops. Now, the best
part of this is that coming up in fifteen minutes,
Mark Madeena is gonna stop by Laker insider who was
at the press conference last night. You can ask him
about that. How much of it was a shade towards me?
And look at this inspires the Lakers to win a championship,
be the second team, second Los Angeles team, because we
(04:05):
got the rams of Super Bowl, the Super Bowl wing.
No question with the Eric Dickerson interview about Jeff Fisher,
we might get the Lakers. Uh, the Larry O'Brien trophy
here is okay. So we'll work on the LA Kings
and well, I mean, the Dodgers don't need any help,
so we'll work on the Angels. Let's work on the
work on the they brought in Kenley Jansen, work on
the he's got some championship pedigree, but all that to
(04:26):
Sammy and go back to the Rams. Manshawn McVeigh might
still just be an Also, Ran would be genius somewhere.
He might be the Jets head coach. Right. He might
have gone to a situation that was untenable and his
brilliance would have never been able to be seen in
the proper light. Yeah, but now, but now, I feel
like every if we talk about the I feel like
it's on in the locker room, Like they're like JJ
(04:48):
Redig is listening to everything in the locker room finding
that motivation.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
You know.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
It's like the old pumping iron right with Lou Farigno,
And with every rep he's yelling Arnold on the same
thing here, j J Reddick, every play that he's calling out,
every bit in film review is motivated to show you up.
Jason Smith one four, six, eight, five seven is gonna
(05:13):
have a field day on his show of that.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
Because I'm not gonna respond to Jason understand.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
This is the best. Oh my good. The number of
people that text me about this today because I heard
sending me the video of it, and I'm like, is
this I go, Yeah, I think I'm about to think
he just doesn't like what I've said. Okay, but again,
if this gets Lakers a ring, I'll tell you that's that.
That's two sports down, two to go. But whenever it's
acknowledged in a public format like that, then it's clear
(05:42):
there's an issue. No sure, sure that some some element
of truth telling has invaded his heart not gonna respond
live in his part of his brain. Now it's a
question of which of the tweets or which of the
cogin Oh, it's probably a moment analysis, because I mean
I would say, ah, if you just listen one time,
(06:05):
what this guy?
Speaker 3 (06:06):
No?
Speaker 1 (06:07):
But the in fact I think to say it and
to try to like demean the don't I don't pay
attention with a random Jason. And first all, by the way,
if you're gonna say just say how about a fresco?
It's a pretty cool Twitter handle. It's one of the
coolest ones out there. They did a lot of thinking
to get how about a fresco? Like that's not in
those cases smith one four six eight seven six five
two just get it right. But in this case it's
(06:28):
bridging your Twitter persona versus are on air because we
do a lot of work that will be covered on
air AM five seventy LA sports right clearance once Dodger
games or Clipper games or u c LA once they're done.
We're on locally in Los Angeles, so in the car
coming back after games or heading to the arena at times,
(06:51):
you know, getting some extra work in, or the practice facilities.
Not to mention the podcast, I mean the iHeartRadio app
and wherever you get your audio, where they're with you.
But clearly this is something that is just stated and
had to come out in that moment. As Dan Waki
asked that question, I know how we fix this. This
is what I do. I propose that's not a fix.
(07:12):
I propose a one day job swap. Who can do
the other person's job better? He comes in here, does
the show with you one night. I coached the Lakers
one night. I don't know, is he going to dismiss
all former players because I don't know, because that's the
thing that's the most laughable about it, right, the plumbers
and electrician comic trying to demean those professions. Great, great, safe,
(07:36):
steady work, right, always a need for people that can
do those jobs. So really kind of demeaning for or
trying to demean the former players in the NBA and
dismissing years and years of players that were of kind
of his ilk. Yeah, sure, I really the star, but
had had a function and a role. Yeah, kind of
(07:59):
kind of bad, bad job. We'll do it, we'll do
We'll do a job swap. I'll coach the Lakers one night.
I'll bring Luca off the bench, I'll bring Lebron off
the bench. I'll start Brownie. I would just be that.
I would just be a lunatic. I'd call a time
out after the first possession like Greg Popovich and just
yell at everybody's I don't like what I saw there,
But coach, we had an alley up for an easy
two points. I just still didn't like it. Seconds have elapsed.
(08:22):
I want Phil Jackson's chair with all the patty on it.
That's the chair I want to sit on. It's pretty good.
And then you get JJ Reddick here with you for
a night. I'm sure he'd order pizza, pay for food
and stuff, and hop ture we do that. I'm sure
I want to fight me after a segment or two. Oh,
I don't know about that. That would make him look bad.
He would want to fight anybody. But think about that
(08:43):
if the Lakers were on with you coaching on the sideline,
and and and uh, there's Jason Smith wearing a great
T shirt, sweatpants and a Mets hat coaching the Lakers tonight.
Just very Adam Sandler Sky think tonight. What do you think?
Speaker 4 (09:01):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (09:01):
I agree, look at him. But boy, I'll tell you
that the gray really pops on television. That's really you know,
the sweatpants. I think of a couple of paint stains
on the bottom, but they might be gold paint stains.
So okay, there we go. There he is. It goes
back to the Dog Show that we were watching yesterday,
wondering if Dustin Rhodes suddenly had a bunch of gold
paint for his dog. But all of that to say,
(09:23):
I mean, one of the hallmarks of the show is
that we do the analysis of a game that is
in progress. We don't wait for the wind to blow.
We don't wait for the epitaph to be written and
for the twenty four hour news cycle to do it. No,
we start the twenty four hour news stand. Aj Reddick, Yeah,
doesn't like that. No, the feud is on. We'll go
(09:43):
for me. We'll see how it goes tomorrow night. Soft
I'm gonna ask soft is he. I'm gonna ask Mark
Media to ask a question tomorrow night at the post
game from Hey so On to guy Twitter, Jason Smith
and one four six, I wanted me to ask you this. No,
it's good. There is a bounty now from our LA
brethren related to JJ Reddick and the postcam response. So
(10:05):
we'll have more on this coming up in a few minutes.
But as we promised a few minutes ago, a big
story in that I'm pretty sure that a decision's been
made as to what the Vikings are gonna do with
Sam Darnald. Right last twenty four hours, you hat a
couple reports the Raiders are gonna go hot and heavy
at Sam Darnald. You know, Tom Brady wants a guy
(10:26):
who has shown that he's a veteran to come in
and win right now, Pete Carroll seventy three years old.
He wants someone that can come in and win right now.
They're not gonna goin for this big long rebuild, and
Darnald is a guy they're gonna go after and before
the last two games of the year. What did I
tell you all year long? They're gonna franchise him. They
can't say goodbye to him. He's a four thousand yard passer,
thirty five touchdowns. You can't just say goodbye to him.
(10:49):
But then the last two games happened, and it was
absolutely awful, and it was awful on national television against
the Lions, and it was worse in the playoffs. Those
two games hurting Donald so much. I honestly, when I
see Kevin O'Connell talk now, he's asked about Donald a
long time, and he's he mentioned some things about Donald,
(11:09):
always says the same thing. We love Sam. Sam's great,
love to have him back, all of the excellent blah
blah blah, but we really aren't feel confident in JJ McCarthy,
But we love JJ McCarthy. This is not we want
Sam back at all costs, look at what he did.
It's we love Sam, but we love JJ McCarthy too.
I get that you have to sort of, you know,
kind of split the baby a little bit and go
(11:30):
and say we love both these guys. But McCarthy's a
guy you don't even know coming off an injury, and
this is a guy that just threw for four thousand
yards pro bowler thirty five touchdowns and you're saying, hey, yeah,
we'd love to have him if we could, but we
like JJ he's gone. He is not going to be
a Viking next year. Maybe he just winds up going
maybe that maybe he does a solid turns out to
be some sort of sign and trade or franchise sign
(11:52):
and trade something, But there is no way after those
last two games that he's coming back to Minnesota. Last year,
the failure those last two games were so big, and
honestly it probably a big sire relief for the Vikings
because the last thing they wanted to do was carry
this quarterback situation over where, hey, we drafted our quarterback
in the future. We wanted Darnald's the backup or the
(12:12):
guy who was going to play a couple of weeks
before McCarthy comes in. But it turns out we hit
it much bigger than that. We won fourteen games is
a big deal. But now the future of our team, Boy,
we're gnashing our teeth because how do we say goodbye
to Donald? But now we got to keep McCarthy. Those
last two games, like, at least it gives them the
excuse in the exhale to say, okay, well we got
(12:33):
to move on from diligat those theres. Those last two
games were so bad you'd convince yourself that it's time
to move on and bringing him back is not the
right call. And that gives you the power to make
that decision where if Donald had played well, they beat
the lines and win a playoff game or two, how
do you make that decision, But those last two games
and make it much easier. And just judging by how
(12:54):
Kevin O'Connell is speaking right now, he's gone. He's on
another team next year. He's not going to be the
Vikings and JJ mcarth he's gonna be the starting.
Speaker 3 (13:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (13:01):
From a lot of reports, McCarthy was around the team
while he couldn't hit the practice field, still in the
meeting room, still processing and going through the you know,
the paces of game prep and evidently showed out pretty
well in his understanding and acumen as best he could.
(13:21):
And with Sam Donald, we saw it and some of
it's got to be a little bit of introspect. There's
introspection for and revisiting of what they did. From Kevin
O'Connell and Staph because they did a pretty shoddy job
in those games too, right, That wasn't the Sam Donald.
Wasn't good, but it wasn't all Sam Donald. It's kind
(13:43):
of like going back with what Kansas City did on Sunday,
part of its mahomes and execution and what they were
able to do the others game planning adjustments and all
of that from the coordinator and Andy Reid's side of things.
So trying to figure out where that balance is. But
when it comes with a forty whatever million cost, you've
(14:04):
got other guys and other pieces of that team you
need to address. So you can't say, let's delay JJ
McCarthy another year, pay Sam Donald, even though we don't
want them to play right, So this bails them out
those two games, as bad as it was for them,
it bails them out and said, Okay, now we feel
a lot better about making this decision, because if they
(14:26):
were going to have him back, there would be a
much different conversation. This is a JJ McCarthy's never played
it down. For the Minnesota Vikings. Sam Donald had a
phenomenal year but an awful last two games. If he
was coming back, it would be much more We love Sam.
We're working something out. We want to keep Sam. We
want but it's always been Hey, we love Sam, but
we love JJ McCarthy. That they've made their decision. Yeah,
(14:47):
and your enemy back added Daniel Jones is something that
we had talked about. Whether you love or hate him,
he's at no cost to you. Well, if you can
make Sam Donald good, you can probably make Daniel Jones good. Hey, Dave,
throw it to Justin Jefferson. What else stress rate did
you have? No, That's all you need because that's all
Sam Darnold did whenever he got in trouble, he just
threw it up to Justin. That's all you have to do, right,
at least make him serviceable. You got Aaron Jones in
(15:08):
the backfield, You look at Hockinson, you look at Jefferson
and Addison. You got plenty of options to elevate your game.
And darres al come back in full force, so your
offensive line should be better.
Speaker 2 (15:21):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
The next ten Jason Smith won six eight four nine
to eight.
Speaker 1 (15:37):
Fox Sports Radio the Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Hart.
Speaker 2 (15:40):
Because I'm not going to respond to Jason, I understand it.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
Live from the tirereg dot com studios. Apparently I'm now
feuding with JJ Reddick. From his postgame press conference last night,
he got a question, wasn't sure he was gonna like it,
said he wouldn't answered. It was from Jason Smith at
one six four eight nine on Twitter. As you're heard
not going to respond to Jason. You know this is
a different angle. We've talked about this a little bit tonight.
I'm probably eighty percent sure Reddick is beefing with me.
(16:06):
I've got a full one hundred, but I would say this.
Our next guest had to join us right now, said
his number one job this entire season was going to
be to undermine JJ Reddick as head coach of the Lakers,
and now when one fell swoop, I'm doing his job
for him. He's Lakers insider Mark Medina, who joins us. Now,
(16:26):
what's having hi, buddy? How are you well?
Speaker 3 (16:28):
Jason? Let me connect the dots further. Guess who is
in the press conference? From one JJ Reddick uttered those words.
Speaker 1 (16:35):
Myself Okay, so what did you think.
Speaker 3 (16:38):
Well, I'm cheting up for you. I'm creating a beef
because you have a national platform. You were relentlessly criticized
JJ reddicks coaching. That's going to put pressure for the
Lakers to make a change and waw wa.
Speaker 1 (16:54):
So wait a minute, you think I got them, Luca?
Is that what you're saying, that I get the Lakers?
Speaker 2 (16:58):
Luca?
Speaker 1 (16:59):
Oh that's it.
Speaker 3 (17:00):
Oh my goodness, I'm saying that you're going to put
me in the head position because of you're a wentless
criticism on the airwaves.
Speaker 1 (17:08):
Ah well, I mean if he didn't coach like a plumber,
I say, that was a bit surprising last night. I
didn't know. And you know, and honestly, you know the
stuff I've said about about Reddick and the Lakers. I'm like, okay,
I know what I've said. Everything I've talked beginning of
the season on through then I actually went through social
media and I was like, oh, that was a really
(17:29):
funny tweet, but I could see her he would have hated that. Oh,
I get it. Oh that was funny, but I could
see where he wouldn't like that. So I can see
a little bit of that on social media a little bit.
Speaker 3 (17:36):
I mean, look, there was a lot of teamwork going on.
You know what I was doing for you, what Lebron
James was doing for Luka Doncis was with giving up
the starting lineup introduction so that he could be last.
That's that's all about thinking out for each other here.
Speaker 1 (17:50):
How come you didn't stand up in the press conference
and say, hey, wait a minute, now, I know Jason.
You haven't even met him. You think he's a bad guy.
You got at least meet him once and then say
you don't like him.
Speaker 3 (17:59):
Actually to be mad at them, I don't. I don't
want you talking about how he's uh he should be
coach of the Year and all that. I mean, you
got to keep your foe for Tom Thibodau with the
next I thought.
Speaker 1 (18:12):
I thought you and Wake would stand up a guy
wait a minute, wait, but now it was just silence
from you. Guys. I can't believe that I.
Speaker 3 (18:19):
Can't steak for Waker, but for myself, I want that spot.
Speaker 1 (18:22):
Yeah, there was a lot of laughing going on, I mean,
because everybody knew exactly who I mean. It wasn't a
random name that he associated with the Twitter handle, No, I.
Speaker 3 (18:32):
Mean, god, it's personal here. No, though I can't be
any more clear he hates.
Speaker 1 (18:37):
To Yeah, No, I mean like we got it. Wait
did you have a conversation with him after that? I'm
not aware about it or.
Speaker 3 (18:45):
No, I did not, But I'm just gonna continue to
be pounting on the drum. JK does not like Jesse.
Speaker 1 (18:53):
That's good. But I got the Lakers Luca now apparently,
so okay, Then did you fire Rob Polink? If I
could do that and get the Lakers Luca? Man, I
mean you're leaning out there, smith job I did. Pretty
soon you'll be able to wear one of those painted
on jackets like Polenka and we'll we'll roll from there.
What a job we got. We got Sean mcvade and
the Rams, and now we got Luca to the Lakers.
What else do we need to do?
Speaker 3 (19:14):
Yeah, I got delivered the next championship, but that's probably
a lost cause.
Speaker 1 (19:19):
No, hey, listen, no, seriously, what I want when they
build the statue of me outside Crypto, I want to
be in and I want like I'm doing a radio
show at the microphone. I want a Mets hat on,
and I want sweatpants and a T shirt. That's what
I want my thing to be.
Speaker 3 (19:32):
We'll see what happens. My confission is the Lakers will
think you don't want only chick. Her deserves that nod.
But okay, see what happens.
Speaker 1 (19:39):
But if I get to tie me, come on, I
get him time, all right. So so outside of Reddick
beef oh bye. By the way, so now when you
go to you're going, are you gonna be in the
press conference tomorrow after the game in Utah?
Speaker 3 (19:49):
Uh? Not any t But.
Speaker 1 (19:53):
Okay, because what I want you to do since you're
friend of the show, and I can say this now
because actually the the influence have over the Lakers the
first postgame press conference back, I want you to say
I have a question from Jason Smith won four six, eight, eight,
six and seven, and see if he answers it from you.
Speaker 3 (20:13):
We shall see what happens. No promises, because again I'm
trying to get the job here.
Speaker 1 (20:19):
No, no, no, I get So what do you make
after seeing the first night with you know, outside of
me me living rent free? And JJ Redick said, what
do you make out of the first night you saw
from Luca the new look Lakers?
Speaker 3 (20:31):
Well, look, I mean it's I tell you this, JJ
and Jason are not on good terms as strongly as Lebron.
James and Luca Doctors are on great terms. I thought
it was a really cool sign that Lebron texted Luca
before the game said hey, do whatever you want with
sorry line up. Intro's Lucas. So that really meant a
(20:54):
lot to him, and I don't think it also showed
that he is a type A you know, dominant personality,
and he said, yeah, I want to I want to
be called last my starting lineup. But then he also
considered as far as what Lebron means, you know, with
his stature, it's moving forward. He's going to be announced
last my starting lineups. You know, this might sound like
(21:16):
you know guys, you know, preschool kids playing their sandbox,
but these kind of things like matter to NBA athletes.
Every little competitive edge and how they're seeing the game,
it matters. So I think that that's a really good
sign of things to come. And then I think a
greater sign of things to come is how they played
on the court together. Now I know the caveata is
(21:38):
they played the Utah Jazz. They're tanking, they're trying to
lose games, but as far as just their chemistry goes,
it seems very seamless. And it probably shouldn't be surprising
because Luke and Lebron are generational talents. They're very skilled
scores and playmakers. But as you all know, Lebron has
faced difficulties in other seasons where he would anoint you know,
(22:02):
the next his next teammate to be the guy that
reduces his playmaking abilities and then all of a sudden
he takes over. But I think that that illustrates that
Luca Doctic, it's a much different player than D'Angel Russell
and Russell Westbrook to.
Speaker 1 (22:17):
That, and we can get excited, didn't you know about
what we saw? Gave added out all you will with
Utah and another game against Utah and then we'll start
getting into the All Star break. Mark, but the other
shoe that didn't get to uh, stay on there. Their
new feet go go to the just that of Mark
Williams and the trade that wasn't and Dalton connect salty
(22:41):
on the sidelines and how do they reintegrate him? And
what do you expect to happen with the big man
search these next forty eight hours?
Speaker 3 (22:49):
Yeah, well, there's a lot to untack here because they
can't really do much because the trade deadline pass. Now
I know that, you know, earlier today they signed Alex
when he he's a good, decent body, but he's not
a game changer. But they need all the help they
can get because Jackson Hayes he's emerged as a really
good lob thread. He was throwing down a lot of
(23:10):
dunks from Lebron and Luca. But they lack enough depth here,
so they got Alex Lenn, I mean Alex Lenn. They
waved Christian Wood. So that's the short term solution what
they do with Doll and connect. J. J. Reddick said
that he's likely to play in tomorrow's game in Utah,
but really that's kind of wait and see as far
(23:32):
as what this means, because don't connect. He's a rookie.
But you know, the short time I've got to know him,
he seemed to be someone who wasn't really phased with adversity,
Like he was a guy. You know, part of his
path as being this really good shooter was he would
you know, be able to still have the same resiliency
through shooting slumps. So I would.
Speaker 4 (23:54):
Expect and hope that he has that same attitude with this,
but that body language that he showed on the bench
yesterday was not good, and I think it's a sign
that this could be a process for him to overcome.
Speaker 1 (24:06):
I got to think, Mark, what are the odds possibilities?
I know we're focused on now, but what are the
possibilities this deal gets revisited sometime in the off season
because we saw both sides are not on the same
page of this. The Lakers are saying, Hey, it's done,
and well maybe not. Hey we want to we want
to find some kind of injunction. So what are the
possibilities we see some some version of this trade in
(24:29):
the off season.
Speaker 3 (24:30):
I guess you never say never in the NBA, but
I will be very surprised if Mark Williams as a Laker.
I mean, they found issues with his physical which is
really just weird unpack because they, you know, had talked
about how their medical staff vetted through everything and his injuries.
And it's one thing for someone like Mark Williams to
(24:52):
saying something to me in an interview earlier the season
where he said, yeah, my injuries are behind me. I've
been fully great. We did all this stuff with the
meta you know, with the training staff and being patient.
It's another thing for another NBA team to vet through
that because they got a cross reference and they have
access to things that I don't have. Uh So I
(25:13):
would be surprised if that happens now. I will say this,
I don't think even though the Charlotte Hornets offered a
really tone deaf, weird response on X about hey, we'd
like to welcome Mark Williams back, and the Lakers approaches
with this offer that mischaracterized it. I don't think that
(25:34):
they're trying to pull a fastball on the Lakers. I
think that they just thought, you know, the Lakers obviously
won a center. Mark Williams had been playing a significant
amount of games in the last month after coming off
of minites' restriction of some of his injuries. But I
think that they just thought long term, he's young, he's
had injuries, let's just sell high while we can. I
(25:57):
would say the same thought process of the Lakers in
Anthony Davis, like they know his injury history and lo
and behold, he gets hurt first game against the MAVs.
But one didn't necessarily have anything to do with the
other because it happened in the heat of the game.
Speaker 1 (26:12):
Mark excitable. Obviously, Luca first game back after missing time
since Christmas, But does the All Star break come in
a little bit of an inopportune time with the as
well as this team has been playing.
Speaker 3 (26:25):
Yeah, it's the old rust versus rest conundrum because the
Lakers had been playing really well. They want to build
off that momentum with getting some chemistry with Luca. But
I would think that this All Star break helps them
more than hurts them because Luca Dacash is on a
minister restriction. He hadn't been playing I think for the
(26:46):
previous eighteen nineteen games because his left calf injury. So
I suspect that they'll ramp his minutes up a little
bit tomorrow and then this will give him a chance
to reset here. And for Lebron, look, he's forty years old.
He's going to be starting yet another All Star Game.
But I think that he'll welcome the chance to recharge
the body a little bit because after that it's a
(27:08):
full sprint to try to see if they can put
way in a bottle and make a deep playoff push
with this move.
Speaker 1 (27:15):
He's on Twitter at Mark g Underscore Medina, that' said
Mark g Underscore Medina, who now is my running mate
with undermining Jim. Yeah, no question, got to do a
couple hours with me on Sunday nine to eleven Pacific.
So all of this and all the all star fun
as part of you.
Speaker 3 (27:34):
Adam looking forward to joining you Mike in studio on
Sunday nine to eleven, as you said on Fox Sports Radio.
And I will continue to do my best to see
Jason wise about how JJ actually feels about him. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (27:47):
Look, I'm just feeling I got the Lakers, Luca. Now,
I feel like I've done as much as I could.
If they need me to give an inspirational speech, then hey,
look I've done what I could. Right, I got you guys, Luca.
Speaker 3 (27:57):
All right, There's plenty of time left in the season
for you to stop by at the rain or the
practice facility.
Speaker 1 (28:04):
I'll get on Twitter at Mark Ge Underscore with Dana.
Mark appreciated man. We'll talk to you soon.
Speaker 3 (28:09):
I appreciate you all.
Speaker 1 (28:10):
Mark, I got that you show up for a press conference.
Do you think you think they'll let me in? You
think JJ Redish let me in?
Speaker 3 (28:17):
Hi?
Speaker 1 (28:17):
Jason Smith one four six eight four nine Twitter, Jim,
he doesn't know your face? How you doing? How you
doing faces? All over the internet. It's there, I get it,
but it's all there. But maybe he hasn't done that
in secondary search. Yeah hell no, my voice though, Oh
you're the dude, You're that dude. And then he would
like a jacket. Really, it would be like John Cheney
and John Calipari. Hey coach, Hey coach. That would be
(28:43):
an after me in the middle of a sentence, just
peals and turns and comes straight after your throat. That
would be the best. That would be the best. Great,
you want to go team coach, stop doing crap like
oh lo lo lo be fighting. But who does have
(29:05):
a bigger beep with you?
Speaker 3 (29:06):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (29:07):
Hersher? Oh I think oh JJ obviously JJ Reddick Yeah yeah,
yeah yeah, or Herscheiser for that was a couple that
was a few years ago. Now now it's definitely JJ Reddick. Yeah.
Despite me a lot, I'm kind of getting tired. I'm
getting titles for people, man, titles I'm getting I'm getting
superstar something else. You brought a superstar to town, I
brought me become a kingmaker man. I brought McVeigh into town.
I brought Luca into town. Look at all the stuff
(29:28):
I'm doing. Come on, No, That interview with Eric Dickerson
one of the more interesting, volatile, what fifteen minutes or
so of audio that we ever have? I still have
the raw on ed Oh wow, nice responses. Yeah, okay,
I'll send you a copy of it because it it
got next level and it ended Jeff Fisher's run.
Speaker 2 (29:52):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sport Its Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with My best
friend Mike Harmony Live from the tire Rag dot Com studios.
Get the words out.
Speaker 3 (30:14):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (30:16):
It's always tough to see a once proud team that
stirred the drink was really relevant for a long time.
It's always tough to see them fall on hard times.
Speaker 2 (30:32):
Cowboys drink.
Speaker 1 (30:40):
And usually teams like this. I like to put in
sports Stonehenge. Oh yeah, you've got a big Stonehenge. Stonehenge
is a big outcropping of rock in the United Kingdom
that was a big deal a long time ago, but
nobody really knows why. You went to it. Nobody I
went there.
Speaker 3 (30:57):
I went.
Speaker 1 (31:00):
You painted oranger? Did you come in in the aftermath?
I came in after I said Orange was wearing my
Syracuse You're Orange gonna No, the police are coming, and
you know, so I put teams there because it's like, hey,
you know, you're a relic of a bygone era. You
were great one at one time, but nobody really remembers
you being that great. Like Syracuse basketball needs to go
(31:20):
in there, especially after tonight starting to Yeah, Miami had
won two games since Thanksgiving and they scored ninety against
Syracuse tonight. Okay, this is the lowest bath Syracuse basketball
has been in fifty years. And that's not even a
hot take. So yeah, Syracuse Basketball's got to go in Stone.
Which is kind of weird when I watch guys opening
packs of basketball cards that are pulling a Juda Mints
in a Syracuse uniform and they're like, hey, are they
(31:43):
any good anymore? And I have to type in no, no,
But I can't put the Bulls in sports Stonehenge because
everybody remembers why the Bulls were so good. I remember
it with Jordan and the nineties were such a big deal.
Of all the teams to see them fall on hard time,
just fall out of relevancy. The Bulls might be the
hardest because they meant so much to all of us
(32:06):
sports fans for so long, and now tonight they were
down at halftime tonight, halftime to the Pistons, not to
the Celtics, not to the Thunder, not to the Cavalier.
They were down at halftime to the Pistons, seventy one
to twenty nine, seventy one to twenty nine. Like you
talk about a low point like the Bulls. This is
(32:26):
the lowest they've ever been, twenty nine point half. They're
completely irrelevant. They've been irrelevant, and the worst part is
they've had the same big three for years. They won't
trade away any of these players, but they won't make
any trades either. It's like, hey, we're okay, just sucking
for how long as long as we need to. No,
they won't do any of that. They won't try to
make the team better. They won't make a move. But hey,
(32:48):
here's Lonzo Ball who after four years plays in ten games.
Here's two years and twenty million more dollars like the Bulls.
The Bulls have fallen off the face of the earth,
and they're embarrassing and they won't try to get better.
That's why it's so tough to see them, because this
is not just hey, a team that was great for
a while, but then new management comes in, knew whatever
and they can't keep it going. And boy, it's tough,
(33:09):
but they keep trying. They keep trying, They keep trying.
The Jets keep trying. As bad as they are, they
keep trying. The Bulls eight, we're just happy just spinning
our wheels in less than mediocrity. And that's the toughest
part because it was a time not too long ago
where every fan watched the Bulls. Everybody had Bulls gear everywhere,
every conversation the NBA was about the Bulls. And now
(33:31):
to see them like this, now fifteen years of a
team that what the hell has happened? It's a really
it's the toughest team to see me nothing in sports. Well,
fifteen years since the Derek Rose MVP year. Taunted all
those years ago, was Lebron gonna go? There was Carmelo Anthony, right,
they did all those and now introductions to show you
(33:53):
what it would be like, all of those things and
none of those guys came. Kobe White's probably the favorite
player of guys in the NBA, just saying, well, if
he gets some help and he gets to go to
another team, because that's not happened in Bizells has a
little bit of run. They brought in Josh Giddy, they
did finally send de Rosan away and Marking in. We
(34:16):
watched him play with the Jazz. But all that to say,
so long as Ryan's door phones the team. It's the
same thing with the White Sox. You had that blip
all those years ago at two thousand and five, and
you've been spinning your wheels ever since because you get
to pull off the mountains of cash off of the merchandising,
off of the TV deals. There's no incentive to get better.
(34:37):
That's it's just so sad that this is that they
didn't tonight being the rock bottom seventy one to twenty
nine to the Pistons. Man Isaiah and Dumars weren't even
playing No. Tayshaw and Princeton Ben Wallace weren't even playing well.
But they wouldn't have scored seventy one points if those
guys were well, maybe they only would have had ten points.
Though them, so it would have been a twenty nine
to twenty two game. Coming up next, a big story
(34:59):
out of the NFL. This is Fox
