If you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
I think my favorite part of the open might be
the music. I gotta say, y Ricky though, is an
awesome job. Either that or or Dan Wiki saying I'll
look that up for you. I'll look that up for it.
Welcome to the show. Yeah, The Jason Smith Show with
my best friend Mike Harmon live from the Tirac dot
Com Studios tirect dot com. I hope you get there.
(00:49):
An unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free road hazard protection,
and over ten thousand recommended installers. Diirect dot com is
the way tire buying should be. No, it's been almost
it's been about twenty hours now, and I may or
may not be feuding with jj Reddick. I still don't know. Well,
I still don't know. I don't know if I'm feuding
(01:11):
with him.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
Yeah, I mean, he hasn't been posting on x in
a while, so my attempt to draw him out and
you just see like to have the conversation yesterday.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
Yeah, as you heard, he's not a big fan of Twitter.
Now let's set you up because this happened late in
the show last night. It's absolutely incredible. So last night
Lakers win Luka Doncic's big, big debut with the Lakers
goes like a score one hundred and thirty points and
a friend of the show, Dan Waki, Lakers Insider, was
asking JJ Redick a question at his postgame press conference
(01:40):
about a topic that maybe JJ Reddick didn't want to answer.
Kind of sounded like Dan was going to ask him, Hey,
people have said this on Reddit or whatever, and JJ
didn't want to answer the question, and this is how
we got to where we are with potentially me feuding
with JJ Redick.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
There was I think, I know much you love narrative
based questions, but there was a a notion after the lucatrade.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
That you've just coming from something on Twitter. I'm not
going to know all this is coming from from real people,
from your general manager among them, which was like this
was about the next ten Jason Smith one nine eight.
Hold on, let me look for it.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
I just want to make sure i'm because I'm not
going to respond to Jason, I understand. So you know,
after having twenty hours to think about it, I think
he's absolutely shading me trying to on that I won
four six eight at how about a frescat It's one
of the best Twitter handle. You can love me, hate me,
and he hasn't even met me. To hate me, you
gotta meet me at least a little bit to know. Oh,
(02:35):
I can't stand that guy, but get the Twitter handle
because I take a lot of pride in my Twitter handle.
How about a Fresca's pretty cool.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
Yeah, I'll tell you love hate however, you're joining us
on the show, JJ or other luminaries across LA. Uh look,
just just evangelize. Just make sure you get the handle right,
that's all, and get all respect. I mean, because look
this this helps in the national profile when you've got
a coach of JJ Reddick's ilk because at this point
(03:04):
everybody's saying, Wow, he's actually done a better job than
I could have expected.
Speaker 1 (03:07):
So good job on you, JJ. And then really, well,
here's the taking care of business and that's great?
Speaker 3 (03:12):
Is it?
Speaker 1 (03:12):
Going? Going back to that said, okay, let let me
do some research on this thing here now, because this
happened last night. My friends are tech friends I haven't
heard from in like like close to a year that
all live in LA are like, dude, is he talking?
Because his post game was was televised on special and
I was like, dude, is he talking? Like? Oh hey,
nice the time I haven't talked to you in a while. Yeah, okay,
what do you want me to ask him next time
(03:33):
I talked to him? So I look at he says, okay,
he's upset about Twitter. All right, fine, And I remember,
you know, talking about it. I'm thinking back to, okay,
the genesis of Reddick getting the job and then the Lakers,
and I remember the you know, getting in here. Here
he is jumping from being a fourth grade basketball coach
into the Lakers. He's their second choice, and you know,
is this how much is this made to win? The
Lakers are going to spin their wheels? What kind of
(03:55):
impact is he really going to have? He's friends with Lebron,
they do podcasts together. The Lakers started out and they
were just meandering and I said many times, this is
kind of who the Lakers are, right. They are a
team that just is going to continue to do the
same thing year after year. And then they make the
incredible trade. And they may actually made two trades, but
one guy one got canceled, but they make the huge
(04:15):
trade for Luca and now here's all this new energy
and here they are. And after that happened, I said,
you know, the Lakers have found a way in such
a short amount of time to make a couple of
big deal when we're moving on from D'Angelo Russell, to
turn themselves into a team that can challenge for the championship.
I'm like, okay, so I said, I'm I'm like, okay,
I got it. I remember what I said. But I said,
you know he actually mentioned Twitter. I'm like, okay, remember
(04:35):
I was critical of Reddick and then but you know,
as things happen, I don't ignore what's going. I can't
say they've won twelve games in a row. They still stink,
like I can't ignore that unless it's Sam Darnold twelve
games row. It doesn't matter. They stink. They stink. Can't
do that, can't do that. So I'm like, okay, so
I go back and I look at Twitter, and I
go ball the way back and I search myself and
Reddick and all this. I look and I go, oh, wow, man,
(04:57):
I killed him. Oh no, no it was I just
know a lot of it's funny. No, a lot of
it is funny, and I'm making and really because I
do the show for people. I don't do the show
for the people who are playing the sport. I do
for the show people listening. If people playing listen, that's great,
But I do the show for everybody who listens every
single night because this is kind of what it is.
And I don't have to worry about careering favor with
(05:19):
any athletes and saying something. That's the thing you can
do is be fair. So I thought I was now
now Twitter, I'll look out of go oh yeah that
was funny. Oh no, that was funny. But wow yeah,
oh that was really funny too. Oh wow man? Yeah
but oh yeah, okay, yeah, oh okay, okay, okay, So
on Twitter, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (05:36):
Yeah, so behinds let's let's pull the curtain back for
a moment. Generally, as things go, you've got your note
that and what's you know, going around and bouncing around
your brain over the course of the day is news, information,
press conferences and all of those things go on, and
then you put it out to Frostburg or in this
(05:57):
case Ryan Berschinger today and myself, and you know, we've
band it kind of kicking around a little bit, right.
Maybe if there's something new information, I'll fire back in,
but you have your points, you start, and then as
I allow me to retort, you will go to Twitter
with an encapsulation of what you've said. And there's usually
(06:19):
a very big difference, you know, some percentage from the
initial note to the time you roll in and we
get on air after the odd couple signs off and
we we take our place here in the Fox Sports
Radio studios. You've changed your mind a little bit, maybe
you've come at it from a different angle. But either way,
as I respond, you will hit Twitter and be and
(06:42):
here's your encapsulation of your first points. Sure, and sometimes
look as folks read into things that we say, and
it's Twitter, right, there's no you know, ability to put
a font to talk about snarkiness or smartiness or being
a smart ass. Twitter is, however you take it, and
(07:05):
if you're in the wrong frame of mind, maybe you're
having a bad day, as JJ Reddick has certainly had
a number of those earlier in the season. Like they're
on a nice little run. Now we've talked about it.
Yesterday ninety plus points, six straight games after three quarters,
Luca comes in, all the good feeling Lebron except for
(07:26):
that day he took off, and even then Austin Reeves
picked up in that Saturday game.
Speaker 1 (07:31):
All of that to say that.
Speaker 3 (07:34):
You're gonna find some folks that take issue with things
you say in the Twitter verse and certainly across the
great Fox Sports radio landscape. We have four hundred affiliates nationwide,
including a lot of time Hi guys, am five seventy
LA Sports. So if you're in your car going to
a place, going to a restaurant, coming home from a game,
(07:55):
guess what you find us. And we don't mince words
because we're not there, like we're not here to kiss
their asses. Like we call it as we see it,
and we move through. If you don't like it, that's fine.
You can come into the We got extra microphones in
the studio. You're all going to come in and fight
with us.
Speaker 1 (08:12):
I got no problem with that, No, but I think
I figured out the way to really make this come
to a head. Okay, if if he's beefing with me,
let's let let let's solve this the right way. Do
you want to do it eight mile style?
Speaker 3 (08:22):
I mean you're gonna go, Papa don I'm not gonna
sit here and and go desperate.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
Well, if you want to call into the show and
we'll be on my podcast, no no, I I'll do
it like this three point shooting contest. Okay, Okay, he
shoots real basketballs in a real gym, and I play
on WE on we because I think that's a pretty
good Papa shot. No no we No, no, no Papa shot
No no no we we. I'm on WE Okay, I'm fifty,
(08:47):
I'm on a digital smith. Oh yeah. So it's him
actually shooting shooting in a gym versus me shooting on we.
Ok so, and then and then we figure out who
we do the same thing, just like in the uh
in the repoint shooting contest where you start at one
rack with all the way around and you see how
many you make, you know, moneyball, and we get a moneyball.
Yeah yeah, And that's why I mean he shoots there
(09:09):
and I shoot on wei and I think that's fair. Okay,
he's at one end of the court does this thing.
I'm with the other end of the court with the
with the big uh the scoreboard in front of me.
Speaker 3 (09:16):
And that's how I got to go outa good No,
it's good. Yeah, in the end, it's it's it's a
fun little inclusion. I do appreciate that it is off
a Dan Wiki question. Yeah, sure, So friend of the show,
longtime friend of ours, and we.
Speaker 1 (09:28):
Called, hey, you got to come on the shows, and
I tell me why you didn't defend me to JJ Redick,
and so I looked it up for you. But he's
actually flying back. Uh, he's in the air now, so
we can't come on the show too. So we'll find
him tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
Yeah, well Thursday or whatever the next opportunity is. Well,
we'll certainly get back with Dan Wiki on that. I'm
a little upset about that he didn't defend me. And
Jason Smith's a good dude. I go on the show
all the time him and Harmon, they're great.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
Yeah, Jason Smith one four six, four, two eight, six seven,
five three oh nine. No, not in on it now.
Speaker 3 (09:58):
It would have been it would have been fun to
be they're going, Hey, those guys there are a couple
of knuckleheads, but they get the job done. I mean,
Jay Glazer's defended us against you know, rage in the
plass uh.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
You know, Buker has told us that he wouldn't he
would never tell us who it was. He goes, but
a really big the personnel GM type in the NBA
listens to us and said to him, hey, listen, when
you go on with those two knuckleheads every week, it's
kind of fun. I'm like, who is that? I can't
tell you that. I can't tell you.
Speaker 3 (10:26):
I can't tell you, but like we know that between
Glazier and Buker and clearly now Dan WOITK, I can't
tell you. We've been able to find out there's a
lot of big shots that listen to.
Speaker 1 (10:36):
What we do here. We appreciate keep evangelizing. So I
would say I'm about seventy five percent that I'm feuding
with JJ. Yeah, that's not made up.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
Okayhead is complete, either from Twitter or something that he's
heard us say after a big meltdown game or you know,
lack of close out efforts. There's probably a couple of
games we can find very very specifically if we went
back into the annals of history here since he took
over as coach, where we really lit them up.
Speaker 1 (11:07):
Yeah, the lack of effort.
Speaker 3 (11:09):
And then he probably heard that and got salty, and
you know, well here's where I'm if that's motivation. Look, however,
you get your motivation, if that's what's got you on
this tremendous run, I just want to ring at the.
Speaker 1 (11:20):
End of it. Okay, all right, Well, because the Rams
still owe us one. Yeah, I mean seriously, yeah, they
do they really. I mean, we have gone from getting
the Rams a super Bowl ring because you know, Derek
Dickerson coming on our show got Jeff Fisher fired. Sean mcvayhard.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
I don't think we've ever used the dump button as
often as we did. Now, if the Lakers win, it's
gonna be suddenly. But we helped get them a ring,
so we get a bad Well has anybody? I mean,
I would love to have a picture with that, like
with a Super.
Speaker 1 (11:42):
Bowl ring end and in uh and and an NBA
time's awesome.
Speaker 3 (11:46):
Man.
Speaker 1 (11:47):
Then we jump to the Major League Baseball, then we
get high, they will start getting paid. Hey wait a minute, okay,
we saw you do this now, major League Baseball team's
gonna say we need you to jump in and do
this one.
Speaker 3 (11:55):
No, this is good. Actually it's good. I mean you're
I mean you got the Mets. I mean because they're
gonna be one of the favorites in the National League
and they're not gonna be done like, they'll make some
moves as the season goes on.
Speaker 1 (12:07):
Oh, but if you got no at this point, you
got to pay us. Like it's okay not being the Mets.
It could be anybody like, well, will help, I'll help.
Speaker 3 (12:12):
Anybody consulting fees. Yeah, you know, there's a lot of
money to be had.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
No.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
Absolutely, Now. The only reason I put it at seventy
five percent is because uh jj Reddick jumped around a
lot in his grist start out with Orlando, had had
really good career. It was with the Sixers and jumped around.
He was with Orlando again, and then he was at
New Orleans and Philadelphia again, and I'm pretty sure that
he probably crossed paths with Jason Smith, the basketball player
(12:37):
who played right around the same time he did show Yeah, yeah,
and and many other teams. Yeah, he was also with
the Sixers and he's with New Orleans and he was
with Washington. So I'm wondering if maybe they were friends
and maybe this Jason, the Jason Smith who played basketball,
said something through someone on social media. I'm met at
the Jason Smith who's the basketballball Jasonmith, the radio dude.
(12:59):
I love him, man, he's great. I haven't seen his
Twitter in a while. I probably should check it. Uh no,
if you haven't to worry about. Uh so, maybe that
could be he's met at Jason Smith the basketball player.
Speaker 3 (13:09):
Well, well, maybe he's conflating the two and it's it's
like a hate you, right, but really now that Jason
Smith's taking the incoming, ah.
Speaker 1 (13:19):
You might be right about that. That could be, or he
could think that that Jason Smith the basketball player is
me same guy, Like yeah, it's one guy, Like there's
no difference, even though he's a lot taller than I am. Yeah, yeah,
I could be. So there could be something that but
I like s Actually, I said, I'm seventy five percent
that that he that he listens and he was throwing
this out. Hey, you know, I can't tell you how
many people today asked me what does it mean with
the numbers? Like one of my friends said, the numbers
(13:42):
he gave out. Is that is that like a way
that he's gonna swat you? Is that like a code?
I go, no, no, no, he's gonna like I had
to explain his A no, no, that's just his way
of saying, oh, here's a random person twitter that I
don't that, I don't that I don't listen to him.
Like so, I'm like, well, least even put you in
a basement somewhere. Then I thought, for a second, what
(14:02):
if that was a message? All of a sudden, I
get It's like it's one of those movies where you
get in your car and suddenly people come Like you're
driving in a in a you're driving in a crosswalk
or something. A car hits you. When you get pulled
out and someone takes the you get thrown in the
back and they put a sack over your head and
I'm like, oh wow, they're gonna take If you're taking
me to else a Gundo, I know I know where
you are. You can't take me to else Gundo. I
(14:24):
know I know how to get home from there. He's
gotta get on the one oh five and back up
four or five. It takes the ball.
Speaker 3 (14:28):
Yeah, I got a couple of good restaurants. If we're
gonna do this, let do this right. It's good sandwich joint.
I never thought that a good juice bar. Is that
a way to what? Is that a way to sweet?
That's pretty good? You.
Speaker 1 (14:41):
Oh, that was one of my friends who really is
not on social media a lot, thinking that you know
that can happen.
Speaker 3 (14:45):
No, no, I really do appreciate this though. Is that
you've got the coach of I mean, what the second
team in town? Right, just Dodger Town. Yeah, you're gonna say,
like the Clippers are number one? Who?
Speaker 1 (14:59):
Well, I mean he did have some good billboards for
a while. Yeah, the billboards were good.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
No, I mean he street lights over spots.
Speaker 1 (15:07):
They make sense.
Speaker 3 (15:08):
As you're spending lot'll get somebody to bring these guys in, like.
Speaker 1 (15:13):
Hawai took two million in the year and deferred all
his money like Otani did not. It didn't happen.
Speaker 3 (15:16):
Yeah, no, no, no, like all of those, I mean
those were good. Good branding in the wall is fun
and we all celebrate Chuck the condor all of those
great things.
Speaker 1 (15:25):
But I mean, look, it's a Dodger town.
Speaker 3 (15:27):
I mean, Key k Hernandez resigns on Super Bowl Sunday,
and it becomes a huge story locally. Super Bowl is
all fine and good, and now Claytons like you've got
all the band back together. But all of that to say, yeah,
I mean, this is kind of a big deal. We
have broken through on a whole other level. And I'd
like to thank JJ Reddick. Make sure to let everybody
(15:48):
in the locker room know where they can get the
best information takes to find fuel because right now, I mean,
you're killing it. And if we have some small percentage
of that because you're pissed at something you said or
conflated I said, because sometimes people think I've something out
of my mouth is actually you and vice versa, whatever
the case may be.
Speaker 1 (16:09):
If that's the fuel that gets the Lakers going, man,
I'll take that. I'll tell you anymore. I mean, come on, well,
we give us a consulting job. You never know who
you live rent free in the head ue, you never know,
you never know. I mean, Los Angeles a big place.
Speaker 3 (16:23):
I mean, we're very honored to be on AM five
seventy LA Sports, the iHeartRadio app nationwide, but you know
those hours in Los Angeles, I mean, I mean you're
stuck in traffic and you're listening to us.
Speaker 1 (16:33):
Sure the greatest. So now we see what happens. Now
we see where we go from here. Now we see
where we go from here. Exit? How about a Fresca
exit swollen Dome. The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon
live from the Tire rec dot Com Studios. Coming up next,
the near Super Bowl brawl we didn't get, but we
almost did. And of all the proud teams, once proud
(16:54):
teams in sports to fall on hard times, got you.
This team may be the hardest one to see them,
to see the level that they're at. No, it's not
the Jets all that more. Coming up next right here,
Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (17:06):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (17:16):
Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with My best
Friend Mike Harmon. JJ Reddick request of the song Jason,

(17:39):
dot com. You know, funny thing JJ Reddick, right, who
now apparently I'm feuding with evidently Yeah, yeah, kind of
a big deal, kind of fun Now. I feel like
everything I say about the Lakers, like it carries into
the locker room. Everything, every single thing I say, I
love every single I said. So when a couple months ago,
we had relatives in town, and it was funny the
one who came, I said to hey, was it was
(18:00):
JJ Reddick doing that? Was that sort of a way
to get you swatted? A few minutes ago his family
came into tab be very close with them all all
our lives, and we went out to trivia and we
were trying to you know, it was we split up
our teams into two, and it was it was me
and Zoe and and and a bunch of the kids,
Like I was the oldest one on the team, and
and then you know, everybody on the other team. And
(18:20):
we wound up winning. I told you it was very
big and my wife is still mad that we won. Yeah.
So and the thing is like all I said, I
can say whatever, you can't say whatever all of he didn't.
He never said whatever it was it was, it was
it was Jason. It turned out to be with Jason, Jonathan,
Josie and Julie right that that that was our team, right, Okay?
So I said, what should our team nay be? Should
(18:41):
we be the you know, the the jas Jja and
and and oh and Jake and my friend Jake and
who was there? And Jake goes, no, we should be
j J J. J. Reddick was like, okay. So when
he's giving you all the scores out at the end,
go okay, after the third rollys a score uh jump
and Knuckleheads have a thirty seven. Uh, Motorman's glove has
(19:02):
forty two, and Jay J. J Reddick has j sorry
J J J J Reddick has fifty one. So that
was how it went. That's pretty good. Yeah. See you
incorporated maybe your daily life and now and now you
know now we now we won't listen to anything, but
apparently apparently everybody listen.
Speaker 3 (19:21):
We need to we need to go to the home game.
We got to get some credentials. I gotta start saying, listen,
I think there should change the lineup.
Speaker 1 (19:27):
I have Jason Smith one four night. Yeah. Uh, I
think here's what I think. I think the Lakers should
change a line up. I think Luca and lebron should
both come off the bench. I think Bronni should start.
I think Bronni and Knect should start, and I start them,
give them at least thirty minutes a game, Bronny and
Luca off the bench just to the end of quote,
you know, energy and you know the the you know,
(19:48):
and and come off six and seventh men and uh
really just kind of let's see what the younger guys
can do. That's what I would do that. There's there's
my uh there, it's my advice. I like that.
Speaker 3 (19:57):
Yeah, yeah, well, I mean you got to change it
up sometimes, quite honesttle bit of how many minutes can Luca.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
Play until he he's so very tired, slow, Just think
how many minutes he could play it only had to go, Hey,
go about twenty minutes. Light, don't worry about it.
Speaker 3 (20:16):
But if he's coming off the bench, I mean going
up against the second unit too, I mean, come on,
look at that we broke his starting game streak.
Speaker 1 (20:23):
I mean, if this isn't like Eli and Gino.
Speaker 3 (20:25):
Smith, No, no, no, no, man, like he comes off
the bench, because even he said after last night, it's like, look,
I wanted to go first, you know, go last for
my first time, and then and then after that whatever, whatever,
We'll go back to normal.
Speaker 1 (20:38):
Now outside of the feud with JJ Redd. No, it's
the greatest story in sports. Yeah, yeah, well you're you're
gonna get sidewipe now. So one of the biggest trending
topics on Twitter, JJ Jason Smith won four six some
of the numbers one for.
Speaker 3 (20:54):
Yeah, I don't know, I set you up a Twitter account,
though we had to leave out the o.
Speaker 1 (20:59):
The Pistons beat the Bulls tonight one thirty two to
ninety two. Okay, we've seen blaws like that. They won
by forty. All right, Pistons, we see this all the time,
you have. I was just three years early on the
Pistons being only two games above five. But that's fine.
They're so good. They're at least entertaining. The Pistons are
so good. But the score at halftime of this game
(21:20):
was seventy one to twenty nine. Yeah, the Bulls did
not have the lead, just so you know it was
not the Bulls had the lead. Well, in my mind,
they did floating around, floating to air seventy one twenty
nine at halftime. And this reminds me one of my
favorite Jay Leno jokes of all of all time was
(21:40):
when it was this what Jay went Leno? So I
gotta explained to millennials who Jay Leno was. So it
was right when when Woody Allen started dating Sunny, right,
and so that whole crazy story happened. And he does,
like and you think he's going to say something about
you know her, you you know, being his stepdaughter and
everything else, and he goes and instead he goes, you know,
it's it's on public now, Woody Allen and soon he
(22:01):
preven are now dating. They're now an items, big scandalous thing,
like you know, thirty years ago, huge scandal. And he
goes and he goes, you know, he's sixty two and
she is twenty nine, sixty two and twenty nine. That
sounds like halftime of a Clippers game, And like Hary
were like, ah, because like you thought he was gonna
say that. He just goes half time the Clippers seventy
one twenty nine. That sounds like halftime of a Bulls game.
(22:22):
Oh wait, it's real. Look lean into those local audiences.
You know, we have seen so many teams, so many
heritage proud teams over the course the last few years,
just not quite fall on hard times but basically just
fall like the fall of the House of Usher or
the fall of Rome, or and just fall completely off
(22:43):
the map. Right, And what do I always say, Here's
a team that's in sports Stonehenge, right, a team that
like Stonehenge. We don't know why it was relevant, but
a long time ago it was, but now people don't understand.
Like I want to put Syracuse basketball in sports Stonehenge.
They lost to Miami tonight. Miami had won twice since
Thanksgiving and they scored ninety against Syracuse. Like it's the
(23:04):
low point for Syracuse basketball the last fifty years. Like
I want to put Syracuse in sports stone Edge because
you know, hey, once upon a time Syracuse basketball was,
but nobody really remembers why. Yeah, I can't do that
for the Bulls because everybody remembers why the Bulls were
such a big deal, because no one forgets, no one's
gonna forget Jordan, so I can't put them in sports
stone edge. But it might be even more embarrassing, is
(23:24):
that of all the teams that we have seen fall,
whether it's the Cowboys or anybody else, I don't know
that anything is worse or more embarrassing or more disheartening
than the Bulls, who went from a team that for
a decade shot to go a little bit more of
the decade when they started winning championships, just shot to
the front and became absolute sports royalty. In the brand
(23:46):
of the Chicago Bulls, it was was number one in
the world. People wore more Jordan gear and Bulls gear
they did anything else. It didn't matter where you were from.
You love the Bulls, You watch the Bulls. The Bulls
were a thing. And now what we see that? Okay,
then the next iteration comes in and it's Derek Rose
and Okay, that's kind of cool. It looks like they're
gonna compete. And then suddenly proven my theory that the
(24:07):
world is flat or not mine with a lot of
people's because they fell right off the face of it,
like it is so embarrassing what has happened to them
that they can't even get any sort of relevancy. And
it's been a long time, and it's not like they
keep trying, like they've had the same We've been talking
for four years. Hey, they gotta trade Levine, they gotta
move on the Vuyatich. They got to do all that.
(24:28):
And they do the same thing every year. They don't
trade anybody, and they don't trade for anybody, and they
still say, yeah, this bad team. We're just gonna ride
it out with this bad team and not make any changes. Oh,
but we'll give Lonzo ball extra two years and twenty
million dollars, you know, who hasn't played for us until
now for the last four years. We'll do that. Like
like the Bulls, it's so embarrassing what has happened to them?
(24:48):
And I think when when you say Chicago Bulls, I
more think like this like one of those post apocalyptic
movies when they're they're going through a city and and
and they come by something and they they wipe off,
you know, they wipe off a sign and it says,
you know, welcome the Yankee Stadium and this is the
rubble of where Yankee Stadium was, or you know, a
planet of the apes when sure Heston runs into the
(25:09):
Statue of Liberty. Sorry spoiler alert, he runs into the
Statue of Liberty. It was there, Oh my god. Yeah,
Like that's about like that's what I feel like the
Bulls like so like in a post apocalyptic movie, people
are wearing you know, they're wearing Oklahoma City gear and
Nick's gear and Celtics gear and a Luca Laker jersey
and they come by and they wipe this off and go,
who's this guy with twenty three for the Bulls? Like, wow,
(25:31):
that's a big that's a really big poster for the Bulls.
Anybody ever they were good once upon a time, Like
that's where how I feel where the Bulls are. But no,
but I mean, it's just sad. It's so it's so
sad and embarrassing that how the heights they were at,
how much royalty they were at, and now they're just
they're not even they can't even get close to being relevant.
(25:52):
And not only that, they don't do anything to try
to be relevant. All we signed our guys a few
years ago. What else you gotta do, something, you gotta try.
Now the Bulls aren't even trying. No, I look, I
sing the Soul Saver song. Just try.
Speaker 3 (26:03):
Oftentimes Dave gan uh and company getting after it. But
you know it's it's a mess. You got bizellous, you
got a couple of individual parts. We're like those guys.
There might be something, but as a squad before you
doesn't want you to do something. I want you to say,
sing the Soul Saver song three times fast, go ahead.
Speaker 1 (26:21):
Go sing the Soul Saver songs. Sing the Soul Saver song.
Sing the Soul Saver song. That's pretty good. I like that.
That's just.
Speaker 2 (26:28):
He did that.
Speaker 1 (26:29):
Now say toy boat as fast as you can five times,
toy boat, toy boat, toy boat, toy No, you gotta
say it fast. That's not fast at all. That's slows
the toy bo, toy bot, toy bo, toy toy boat,
toy boat, toy bo. If you try to do it fast,
not slow, to not slow, you are you know you
(26:51):
are like trying to You are like Ron Dain at Wisconsin.
I'm gonna wait and pick my way through the line
of scrimmage and try to get there. You're like Le'Veon
Bell at the end, going I'm just gonna be really
patient before I really quick. Ron Ron Dame.
Speaker 3 (27:02):
The best was at home games, right, I play it
at a Northwestern they'd just beat Ron Daye the ball
care because he can carry the ball thirty five times
a game and just run over us. So that's how
you know, my ex wife and a lot of folks
that were kind of coming into coming to games and
they they didn't know necessarily anybody else on the squad,
but they recognize Ron day the ball carrier.
Speaker 1 (27:26):
So you got that.
Speaker 3 (27:27):
But yeah, so you got a couple of component barts.
There's been some excitement. I mean, Kevin Durant amongst others
have been like, wow, Kobe White, if you can get
a team around him, how they can't. We watched Lori
Markinen play for the Jazz yesterday, Jamar Deroz and doing
great things, and you still have you know, they brought
in Josh Giddy. Every once in a while he pops up.
(27:47):
But as a squad, they're awful. Their their operations have
been terrible. They're stuck, just like the Bears have been
right still trading on nineteen eighty five. Yes, you had
that Super Bowl appearance, which is most notable for the
Prince Purple Rain. In the rain, I suppose because even
though it was Peyton Manning Super Bowl win. He wasn't
great in that game either. But all of that to
(28:10):
say that, yeah, you're you're still looking back at nineteen
ninety eight and wishing, wanting, hoping that Derek Rose MVP year.
Why they celebrate that because it's the last bit of goodness,
last bit of great.
Speaker 1 (28:22):
Was my Carmen, what you was that? How far back
are we going? Twenty years? Yeah? Shut up, No, I
don't think you're going quite back. Not quite. You're going
back about fifteen years. Fifteen Yeah, that was like two
thousand and nine.
Speaker 2 (28:38):
You're going.
Speaker 1 (28:38):
Yeah, you're going back the way we're talking, going back along.
Speaker 3 (28:41):
We're talking a lot. Is it is? Sad eleven? I
cheated him a year.
Speaker 1 (28:46):
I made him one year older, seventy one, twenty nine
and has Wow.
Speaker 3 (28:50):
Well, I mean, look we were We saw that little
graphic right as they're doing the post game, and look
at us. We won back to back wire to wire
wins for the Pistons first time since twenty fifteen, forty
two point margin at half the largest in franchise history.
Speaker 2 (29:07):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven

Speaker 1 (29:23):
The Yankees lost to the Dodgers in the World Series
and they threw up on themselves. Fifth inning of Game five,
made three errors. Judge took his eye off the ball.
(29:43):
They're the lazy Yankees. All the players even said it,
the lezy Yankees baseball team. Fox Sports Radio, The Jason
Smith Show with Mike Carmon Live and the tire rack
dot Com Studio. Bett Maller in his milkshake. So as
(30:05):
we get set, Yeah, you gotta here, Tyscher give me
the Tom Petty Axel Rose version of freak calling, which
is that's five straight into heartbreak Hotel as our Cinio
Hall tried to send him out. So everybody's getting to
spring training now, you know, teams are starting to arrive.
You see some some players are already getting there. And
(30:28):
Aaron Boone to the Yankees. Well, the Yankees and Dodgers
both spoke today. The Dodgers talked about how their motivation
for twenty twenty five and they're hungry. They want to
prove with this team that maybe the best team we've
seen on paper in the last fifty years, is going
to win another World Series, And Aaron Boone talked about
how he hopes that if the Yankees get to the
point where the Dodgers are winning the World Series, they
would do it with a little bit more class than
(30:50):
the Dodgers did last year. Now, what is this, of course,
this is at the end of the World Series when
Joe Kelly and Chris Taylor decided to go and do
podcasts and do interviews and say that, Hey, the Yankees,
we knew they were lazy. We knew they were gonna
make errors, we knew they were not gonna run the
base as well. We knew this, the Yankees were. The
lazy Yankee narrative really took off and it was fun.
(31:10):
The lazy Yankee narrative was awesome. Man, it was awesome.
And Aaron Boone now making headlines with this kind of
incendiary statement today saying, Hey, I hope we handled a
lot more class whoa, whoa, whoa The Dodger dot classy.
And I gotta say this, and this is gonna surprise
you because you know, look, it's the Yankee. So I
like any excuse I can jump up and down on
the Yankees. Sure, the lazy Yankees. But now I think
(31:33):
that Aaron Boone had it absolutely right today because he
said he hopes the Yankees handed with a lot of class.
It was a couple of guys, It wasn't the whole team.
Wasn't stars who were saying, which I think he wanted
to make sure to say that Joe Kelly and Chris
Taylor aren stars. He knows a lot of people the
Dodger organization. They're classy. But yeah, I hope we handled
a little bit better. He said exactly what he wanted
(31:53):
to say, and he said it right. I want to
make sure I get this out there because we don't
forget that a couple guys random. We want to use
it as motivation. But in the end, it's Joe Kelly
and Chris Taylor. It's not the entire Dodger organizations. Two
guys that barely played. Joe Kelly I don't even think
he played, and Chris Taylor had like what too. I
bet he was lucky he was even on the team
that they didn't dfa him at the late part of
(32:14):
the season. All we're keeping Taylor around because hell, he's
been clutching the past so that's why we're gonna keep
him on the active roster. Like, these two guys had
absolutely zero to do with the Dodgers championship, and they
ran their mouths the most. Now, guess this is who
Joe Kelly is. He likes to do that, Chris Taylor
bit of a surprise, but yeah, they're feeling it. But yeah,
these are two guys where I go, Okay, I get it.
I get the Yankees are mad, but I get There
(32:36):
was a proportional response from Aaron Boone where he said, hey,
we're not gonna forget that, but we also understand this
isn't your entire team or a bunch of guys that
are running their mouths. I think it would have been
different if it was Freddie Freeman and Mookie Batts and Otani,
you know, but it wasn't. It was it was two
guys who barely had anything to do with the championship.
They wound up saying, ah, the Yankees, they were lazy.
(32:57):
We knew and everything and everything we stuck. We knew.
We knew they were gonna just puke all over themselves,
and they did. All that fifth inning was was a
whole big three four times running to the bathroom like
you had some bad dab wild I could have said
something really bad there, like like you could have had
something really bad to eat for dinner and just keep
(33:18):
running back and forth, running back and forth. So yeah,
I honestly this is not a big deal. I think
Aaron Boone said what he said, and we got across
the exact what he wanted to say, and now we
move on. I don't think this is a case of, hey,
here's the Dodgers, we're feuding with this. It's okay if
we get to that point where we're playing you again,
we want we know, we're not gonna We're not gonna
forget this. But we also understand it was two guys
(33:40):
who had basically zero to do with the championship that
decided to say, hey, yeah, yeah, Yankees, you threw up
on yourselves.
Speaker 3 (33:46):
Well talk about the backhand right of Look, these are
two incoon squential guys. As much as we celebrate the
Mariachi jacket and the history of Joe Kelly, he'd appear
in the postseason at all, and Taylor was an all
so ran right on the roster, gets a ring.
Speaker 1 (34:02):
That's all fine and good.
Speaker 3 (34:03):
Yeah, but two inconsequent you guys, so to breathe life
into it seemed unnecessary for me for Aaron Boone, but
you also are a guy that you've heard it for.
Speaker 1 (34:15):
How many months? But he also doesn't want want to
go past with the fact that we're just gonna let
that go. Like, yes, I get you, you want to
say let it go, but okay, no, no, we're the Yankee.
You don't just sit there and insult us and think
we didn't hear it. I think it was. It was
a perfect response. He made sure to say twice handled
with the class a couple of times, and then he
then he complimented the Dodgers, and he moved on like
that that's exactly That's absolutely what he wanted to say.
Speaker 3 (34:35):
That was put in the end. Why why bother? It's like, oh, yeah,
you gotta acknowledge it.
Speaker 1 (34:39):
You're not gonna come You're not gonna come into my
house and start yelling at me and and and and
breaking stuff. And before I say something to you or
or or show you that I'm not going to take it,
and you have to do something.
Speaker 3 (34:48):
And and he came back and see, hend make your
SD Jones comparison or whatever you need to.
Speaker 1 (34:53):
So, wow, are you saying the Yankees were the sd
Jones and the world.
Speaker 3 (34:56):
Where Aaron Boone gets all these guys were the pre
limb bums had to hold up Dodge.
Speaker 1 (35:00):
They didn't even get to the main event.
Speaker 3 (35:02):
They didn't get to play in the main event with us,
and they're the guys doing the yapping because when you
have to caveat yeah, well, you know show hey didn't
say anything Rookie or Freddie or really anybody of consequence
Like that's that's that's the point for me. If Aaron
Boone is like, yeah, now I guess it exists, but
you know the hey, let's be classic.
Speaker 1 (35:23):
The team that the guys that mattered were classy.
Speaker 3 (35:26):
Yeah, like I said, so actually acknowledging these other guys,
why breathe life back into it?
Speaker 1 (35:33):
