(00:52):
at Dncic meeting the media right now following his triple
double against the Mavericks, the Lakers pull away late to
win it. You'll hear from Luca coming up in about
twenty minutes. But before we get to this, this big
football story with Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 3 (01:07):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
This pass that Luca mix in the second quarter to
Austin Reeves continues to get a lot of run like
he had a great night tonight. Sure Luca came out.
You can tell how energized he was. Look, the Lakers
are energized. Lebron is energized. He's giggling and laughing. He
looks happier than he's looked in years.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
Lebron flapping hands right with Max Christian or whatever else.
But like the grin was ear to ear, he'll a
smile to esque he and the happiness I believe is
not that. Hey, they got rid of Anthony Davis because look,
he talked to He talked to.

Speaker 4 (01:40):
A d finally got rid of him.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
That's awes, that might be the best acting he ever did,
talking to Ad showing him love.

Speaker 4 (01:48):
Ah nuss, he wasn't, I mean.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
And they showed him talking to Anthony Davis, who didn't
play tonight for the Mavericks.

Speaker 4 (01:53):
Uh, you know.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
Lebron doing the whole I'm holding my jersey up over
my mouse and no one can see what we're talking
about in Ad doing.

Speaker 4 (01:58):
The same thing. Do you believe this thing?

Speaker 1 (02:02):
Clearly these guys are still friends, but it's not. It's
not about getting rid of a d But I guarantee
you in the if you if you hooked up Lebron
to a lie detector before the Luca trade and said
to him, Okay, you're playing, You're playing great. How much
longer do you want to play? He's no timetable right now.
I got another few good years left. Do you think
you can win another title if you stay here with

(02:23):
the Lakers? His answer would be no.

Speaker 4 (02:25):
If he was out a lied detect say, he would say.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
No, no, I have to No, We're not going to
win another title because the Lakers weren't constructed to do so,
and they were just continuing to bang their their heads
against against the wall, going we're trying to make it
work with Lebron and a d and other players, and
the Luca trade happens, and that's the spring in Lebron
steps Suddenly, Hey, his entire career, which is judged by finals,

(02:52):
getting the NBA Finals, winning finals, he's got a chance
now to win one or maybe two more because he's
going to play.

Speaker 4 (02:59):
A few years.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
Clearly, the guy is not slowing down. In a twenty seven,
twelve and three to night, he took over in the
fourth quarter for the Lakers. He now knows, Hey, this
this finals window was now open for me. I can
win again. I can now have the end of my
career be great. I can maybe win two and go
out and I win two more. And now suddenly the
question is about me versus Michael. Do I get better

(03:23):
credit just because I shouldn't be penalized because I went
to more finals than Mike Lunch because I didn't win him.
But suddenly, like that's what he sees. He sees that
this finals thing is now wide open for me, And
you know, you obviously we see Luca the player he is,
but now he's getting even more attention.

Speaker 4 (03:40):
Because he's with the Lakers, even though he was with
the Mavericks.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
But this pass he made to Austin Reeves tonight where
Reeves hits a three, where Luca starts driving the lane
and Reeves comes bounces out of the lane obviously to
make more room and to get behind the three point line,
like Luca doesn't see him where he ends up. Like
when Lucas starts making this drive, Reeves is in the lane,

(04:07):
and in the beginning of this drive, then Lucas sees
Austin Reeves bounce back out, so he knows he's going
behind the three point line, and all three'ves gets behind
the three point line and stops and Luca's pass is
to that spot and it's an easy It's not like, hey,
it's a great pass and he had to corral it
and go up and shoot. This is a pass that
is right to him and he's able to catch it,

(04:29):
stay set and shoot. There's no moving, there's no I
gotta dribble, I gotta find myself. I gotta set myself.
It's I got it and I'm in my shooting stance
and it's an easy three. Like you see a play
like that and you go, oh, my goodness, is this
is this title window open for the Lakers? Because you know,
we talk about Reeves and Hatchamura are the guys that
are gonna suddenly go, hey, we're scoring twenty some out

(04:51):
of game now because we're wide open.

Speaker 4 (04:53):
Because what are you gonna do?

Speaker 1 (04:54):
When Lebron can take over and and and Luca can
do this, We're gonna do it. So you see, everything
is it's it's sunshine, lollipops and rainbows for the Lakers
right now. They're excited. They're almost fifteen games over five hundred.
Lebron's got the spring in his step. Luca is happy,
with the revenge game tonight. The support guys are all
making no, We're gonna be wide open to make big
shots and we can make even more money over the course.

Speaker 4 (05:16):
Of our careers.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
Like it is all coming up Lakers right now after
this game tonight.

Speaker 5 (05:21):
Now.

Speaker 3 (05:21):
To be fair, this is one of those passes. If
it goes awry, it's like, what the hell is he doing? Right,
It's just like the no look Patrick Mahomes, pats or whatever.
It's like, why do you make that decision? But oh,
I don't compare the two.

Speaker 4 (05:36):
Come on, I like playing with Lebron.

Speaker 6 (05:38):
It's kind of fun. I'd not make sure that you know,
my brother and my wife don't make bad headlines and stuff,
but nobody really cares. So for me, it's really I
don't know. My dad's gotta not say anything.

Speaker 4 (05:48):
Because he's at the.

Speaker 6 (05:49):
Game tonight and he was not happy. Really on when
I got teed up. I'm doing if Luca was, if
Luca was Patrick Mahomes is what I'm doing right? Nick
Nicks lost his sound like, hey.

Speaker 7 (06:02):
Sound bad?

Speaker 2 (06:03):
Really?

Speaker 4 (06:03):
We lost? We lost. We lost the game tonight. We lost.

Speaker 6 (06:07):
My dad was not the game, wasn't happy, wasn't happy
I got traded. I don't need to sound like when
I say my dad, I know you think my dad
pat my Homes. No, not my dad, because I'm Luca
and this is my dad doing the whole thing is
whenever if I'm my homes throwing it behind the back path.

Speaker 3 (06:22):
We didn't get nearly enough shots of Lucas's dad. We
saw him early, we did not see him as well.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
Saw him early and often, and then we didn't. Yeah,
which makes me.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
Think, like he gets the technical fall, he's flatling a
little bit, hits a couple of threes all of a sudden.
Then we get the montage of all here's all the executives,
there's Luca's dad taking a sip for whatever he was drinking,
and then that was the last we saw.

Speaker 4 (06:44):
Yeah, I need moore that did he leave? Did he
leave the game? Did because of the technical come on?

Speaker 3 (06:51):
By the way, you could have teed up any number
of like seven or eight guys who did far more
than Luca didn't over.

Speaker 4 (06:59):
The course of the game. But that's neither here nor there.

Speaker 3 (07:02):
All of that to say, you look at the Western
Conference as a whole, right, they have that big, emphatic
win over Denver and it's still one of those.

Speaker 4 (07:11):
All right, did it really solve.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
What has been this demon for them that the Nuggets
over the last couple of years or is that all right?
We'll see you in a series and it plays out differently, Right,
Denver getting healthy, getting right, et cetera. That you get
towards a series difference. But otherwise, you look around the
Western Conference, there're any team that really scares you in

(07:34):
the playoff picture?

Speaker 4 (07:35):
No, right, Oklahoma City is good. They never lose.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
No, we watched Anthony Edwards day. Okay, take them down,
lose one game every three weeks. It happens. I think
it's a It happened on our watch. And the Wolves
are the best.

Speaker 3 (07:51):
Okay, you gotta listen to the whole show. And you
got another history here. Anyway, the point being that, yeah,
there's some young legs and they can get after it.
But again, it owes to a series. If you give
me Luca and Lebron and the support cast and they're healthy. Right,
Obviously that's the big thing for Lebron because they got
a gauntlet coming up.

Speaker 1 (08:11):
This is where it gets interesting. We talked about their schedule.
Does get a shot the schedule.

Speaker 3 (08:15):
For the second half of the season is tied for
the hardest in the NBA. They start that Moeries with
the Clippers. Fry right, it's a home and home, Yeah,
home and home again. Yeah, just change out the colors
of the court and whatever else. But it's just the
idea that you have this this sixth or seven game stretch,
which is just evil in terms of scheduling making, but

(08:36):
over the the entirety of what constitute the second half
of the season, that they do have the hardest schedule remaining.
All that to be said, if the two of them
are healthy, and Reeves is hitting shots, and Hatchama is
hitting shots, and Jackson Hayes is filling the lane like
he did tonight. Again a front line for Dallas is
not what they expect to be. But you play what

(08:59):
the schedule brings you. This iteration of this team, I'm
not afraid of any other team if I'm JJ Reddick
and the Lakers in the Western Conference in a series.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
No, you have gone from how do we figure this out?
To all like and we said, this is what when
the trade happened with Luca to the Lakers, what do
we say this is gonna have the effect that when
the Lakers got Pau Gasol from the grid right away,
the one like nine out of ten, and suddenly was wow,
look at this. And all of a sudden they were

(09:29):
in the finals the next three years, right, and they
won too. Now it was a little bit different because
Luca was hurt. He had to wait. Then they had
the All Star break, so it wasn't quite he's But
now they've won three in a row. Luca's been terrific
the last couple of games. And I'm telling you everything
is coming up Lakers right now. Man, this is They're
a scary team for all to talk about. Might not
be an NBA finals year, frond, why not?

Speaker 4 (09:52):
Right?

Speaker 1 (09:52):
Like there's other good teams, don't get me wrong, but
this is a team that you're not used to them.
You haven't seen this iteration of the Lakers. You're gonna
get them for about twenty games and then suddenly it's
the playoffs and you don't know how this's you know, hey,
this is what this is their tendencies, this is what
they like to do.

Speaker 4 (10:08):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (10:08):
If Luca continues to be this guy and he picks
he picks things up a little bit quicker, look out, man,
I don't know who the Lakers are going to be
underdogs too. I don't know who they're gonna wind up
being in a series against where you say they can't win. Like, really,
at this point, I'm saying, I'm ready for the Lakers

(10:29):
Thunder Western Conference Final, right like, I'm like, that's that's
the series. I'm ready because when I give the Lakers
advantage over the Nuggets after that last game they played
last weekend, one hundred percent, right like, I'm already saying
I'm ready, I'm well, I'm ready for the I'm ready
for the Knicks and the and the Cavaliers Eastern Conference Finals.
But I'm also ready for the Lakers and the Thunder
in the West.

Speaker 3 (10:48):
But to the point about the Thunder, right, I'm certainly
not dismissing him. Nobody outside of their actual broadcasters talks
more chet Lou Dort and Shay Gildess Alexander.

Speaker 4 (10:58):
Than I do.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
I don't think their broadcasters even talk about loud, Dort,
Jet and SGA. Sure, but but lu legit legit man,
like like I think man, I think he's on the
metal stand for Defensive Player of the Year. Did you
find that you're related to lou Dort, Did you do
like a twenty three in me and find out?

Speaker 4 (11:12):
Oh, hey, lou Dort and.

Speaker 1 (11:13):
I are related? Like, like, why did you know I
would disclose that?

Speaker 4 (11:16):
Isn't that part of the rules of engagement?

Speaker 1 (11:18):
On some of those times, I thought, you're not supposed
to do that, Like I thought, like, hey, what we
find But if I find out twenty three in me
stays and twenty three in me, I thought that's what
it was. But but if I found it out and
I can exploit it, isn't that the part of I
guess that part of twenty three and me too, I
guess is it.

Speaker 4 (11:35):
Isn't there a whole series of finding your roots? Did
they exploit the hell out of that?

Speaker 8 (11:40):
Hey?

Speaker 4 (11:40):
Look who I'm related to, look at my histories?

Speaker 3 (11:43):
All of that to say for the Lakers, you're you're
looking at a squad. They can get after it. And
defensive metrics, we could try to figure out what the
noise is Right tonight they missed a lot of shots.
But you know what, when an offense is humming as
the Lakers were, that puts a lot of pressure. We
do it with the NFL as we talk about the
league week to week here on the show. When you've
got an offense that's going to pressure you, like say

(12:04):
you're playing Detroit, well, your decision making on some of
those third down or to go for it on fourth
down are gonna be different against Detroit than they are
against other teams. Likewise, against the Lakers, you're maybe making
some shots selection and maybe you're gripping a little tighter
than you would be against some other squads because you
know each of those shots matters to a different degree. Right,

(12:26):
You're not running them out of the gym. You're not
gonna beat them down every once in a while. I mean, look,
they're gonna lose games. You lost to Utah, you lost
to Charlotte, and Sky was falling. But on a night
to night basis, you get this kind of effort up
and down, play giddy, and obviously there's a little extra
juice in the tank because of Nico in his blue
suit sitting courtside and the Mavericks being in town.

Speaker 4 (12:48):
But that's not something that's just a one off for
this squad.

Speaker 3 (12:53):
I mean, Lebron, you can tell there's a different spring
to what he's had since showed up.

Speaker 4 (13:00):
Going back to that Knicks game, which he always.

Speaker 3 (13:02):
Plays well in the garden. But you talk to several
of the players, let the cat out of the bag.
Everybody was acting a little different in the in the background,
right in the pregame, right, it was acting different in
the pregame. So something was up. And here we are
for the final twenty two or twenty three games of
the regular season into a playoffs.

Speaker 4 (13:20):
Gotta be a fun run. And for us being located
in Los Angeles, what a gift. Everything, What a gift.

Speaker 1 (13:26):

The Jason Smith Show with My best friend Mike Harmon,
Yes her Livethetireck dot Com Studios. We got the big
football story coming up in a couple of minutes because, uh,
try to figure out which quarterback says, Hey, if the
Rams trade Matthew Stafford, I'd love to play there and
I'll bring a great wide receiver with me. Package deal.

(15:43):
Yes it's Caleb Williams and DJ mooreton No, it's not. No, wow,
that escalated.

Speaker 4 (15:50):
Sorry I say, yeah, it's a bit of a curveball.
I did not see that coming out. No, no, no, But
first look the story of the night.

Speaker 1 (15:57):
Luka Doncic a triple double for the Lakers tonight, staring
down the Mavericks bench at every opportunity, like the Mavericks
traded him right like all that, Like the guys is like.

Speaker 4 (16:06):
Yeah, let's trade it.

Speaker 3 (16:07):
Just staring down though, like that was the the old
he was going full on scanners.

Speaker 1 (16:12):
Or yeah he's fun man, Luca's fun with dead zone
or one of those things where he's trying to blow
people up.

Speaker 4 (16:20):
If I stare at you twitching, your neck will explode.

Speaker 1 (16:24):
But I'm just swishing your head. Kids in the hall,
a big triple double. The Lakers pull away and win
late one oh seven ninety nine.

Speaker 9 (16:32):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (16:32):
Lucas started out in his first game against his old team.
He was terrific early. He had threes. He was probably
his best game dishing the basketball we've seen in quite
a while. A couple of passes make you go wow,
and the chance in the crypt of thank you, Unico
with Nico Harrison in attendance, hopefully he doffed his cap

(16:53):
to the crowd at something. Hey, thank you, Yes, thank you.
I'm rebuilding the Lakers while working for the Mavericks.

Speaker 4 (16:57):
Thank you. That's great. Two teams. But I mean, look,
just think about this.

Speaker 1 (17:03):
As good as Rob Polinka has been, dude, the two
biggest guys that are in favor of rebuilding this Lakers
dynasty the last fifteen to twenty years have been Jerry
West and Nico Harrison, neither of whom are working for
the Lakers at the time they made these trades.

Speaker 3 (17:15):
It's gotta be yeah, no, no, No, he might be
a sleeper agent, yeah, or just getting fired.

Speaker 4 (17:22):
He's gonna be.

Speaker 1 (17:22):
Like that what's that Jeff of Jamal Adams when he
tries to get into Jets camp in his car doesn't work.

Speaker 4 (17:28):
It's gonna be.

Speaker 1 (17:29):
Here's Nico trying to get back into the mass facilities
tomorrows Oh, why can't I get into?

Speaker 4 (17:33):
My card's not working? Have we ever had a trade working?
That says? And an executive to be named later? Now,
really you're gonna see you.

Speaker 1 (17:40):
It'll be like one of those uh wwe things where
you get a guy and the partner of his choosing,
you don't know who it's gonna be, and suddenly Rob
Polinka will reveal, Oh, battling ad and Kyrie Irving, it's
me and Nico Harrison.

Speaker 4 (17:54):
God, it's Nico Harris. Goodness, look at this. He's got
a great surprise. GM.

Speaker 1 (17:59):
Here, I'm the g What a turn, he's the assistant GM. Yeah.
But let's have a good extension to the bloodline.

Speaker 4 (18:06):
Let's go. Let's add that to WrestleMania forty one. Come on,
let's hear from Luca Dodgs. Right now.

Speaker 1 (18:11):
The Lakers win tonight. They're in fourth place in the
Western Conference, one game in the loss column, out of
second place. But here's Luca talking about his first game
against his former team.

Speaker 5 (18:23):
Luca, were you looking for some kind of closure with
what happened tonight to allow you to move on? And
if so, did you feel like you got that?

Speaker 9 (18:32):
I mean, the closure is going to take a while.
I think, I know it just it's not ideal. But
you know, like I said, I'm glad this game is over.
You know, there's a lot of emotions, but we'll go
live by little, you know, and every day is better.

Speaker 5 (18:50):
Luca, you have the handshake with Kyrie that you guys
had in Dallas to start this game.

Speaker 9 (18:55):
Here you go over to see Derek Lively after the game.
Is there a specific moment maybe with your old teammates
that you that you can share with us what that
was like? I mean, you know, Kai is my mono. Uh,
we go away beyond basketball. So it was good to
see those guys. Like I said, we went to the
Wars together and it was really fun to see them all.

Speaker 5 (19:17):
Luca, were you looking for some kind of closure with
what happened tonight to allow you to move on? And
if so, did you feel like you got that.

Speaker 9 (19:25):
I mean, the closure is going to take a while.
I think, I know it just it's not ideal. But
you know, like I said, I'm glad this this game
is over. You know, there's a lot of emotions, but
we go love by little you know, and every day
is better.

Speaker 1 (19:45):
Luca, if I could take you away from basketball for
just a moment, you've mentioned the joys of being a dad.

Speaker 9 (19:49):
When every baby girl gets older and she's facing a
new transition in life, what advice do you think you'll
give her? U with that question, Yeah.

Speaker 4 (20:01):
Because that's a question you asked right after a game.

Speaker 9 (20:04):
Just you know, support, support my little girl and anything
she do. I'm happy to say, grow up and I
want to be there for her.

Speaker 10 (20:11):
All right.

Speaker 1 (20:12):
The first of all, first of all, let's let's go back.
I love that he called, you know, hey, U, Kai
is me or Mono? Because I just kep thinking of
that episode of Rest Development where they kept telling Jason Bateman,
oh mere Mono, and he points, he goes son of
it and they keep telling.

Speaker 4 (20:25):
Him, oh mono, who is this aremano? Guy? Oh mere mono,
Mere mono.

Speaker 1 (20:30):
But yeah, that's not a question that you give somebody,
right after a game is over. That's a little different.
That's where someone calls in, you set up an interview.
We're gonna have a lifestyle interview right after the game.
What are you gonna tell your daughter about overcoming adversity?

Speaker 4 (20:43):
Wow, I don't know what. Just finish the game, do
you know?

Speaker 11 (20:49):
What?

Speaker 1 (20:49):
Do you want me to kind of I kind of
dig the curveball aspect done? Is there a certain questions?

Speaker 11 (20:54):
You know?

Speaker 1 (20:54):
And this is what always drove me crazy at ESPN, right,
I'll pull the curtain back for you, is that there
was a time when you know, we would do air
checks right, which was how you taught you know, they
would listen back to a segment you do on the
radio and how you did what they thought you did right.
And there was there was a thing where Colin interviewed

(21:14):
Matt Ryan during his show one day, like on a Monday,
And then I interviewed Matt Ryan on a Thursday night
following a Thursday night football game, and we talked about
the game and I asked him a quite you know
about his nickname Maddie all this stuff, and so we
talked about the next day and I had I had

(21:35):
an air check session and both of my bosses, like
my main boss and my program rerecor said, yeah, you know,
collins interview with Matt Ryan was probably a little bit better.
And I go, okay, so you're comparing these two interviews,
well yeah, and I go, so you're comparing Matt Ryan
with Colin who is sitting down talking to him at
twelve o'clock in the afternoon where it's a lifestyle interview

(21:57):
where they could talk about anything. What questions did you
want me to ask him? Following a game where he
just threw three touchdowns, including the game winning to Roddy
White with like a minute left? What do you want
me to say? Hey, great touchdown, but what's your favorite vegetable?
You really said, you really want me to do that?
And again, this is why I think my career at
ESPN like some of the bosses. I mean, I'm not
a shrinking violet. I say what's on my mind a

(22:19):
little bit too much.

Speaker 4 (22:19):
But it just pissed me off, Like you want me
to ask him those ques? That's not a time to
ask him those questions. I got it.

Speaker 1 (22:24):
I got two minutes with him after the game that
everybody just saw, and it was a big what you
really want me to, Well, that's kind of what you look.

Speaker 4 (22:32):
For in the and none.

Speaker 1 (22:34):
Oh hey, I'm sorry, I'm stupid. I'm stupid for telling
you that. Yeah, I realize it's right after a game.
The guy's got his uniform on in the locker room. Hey,
can you sit here and just tell me about what
what's your what's your favorite movie you saw in the
last two weeks.

Speaker 4 (22:48):
I can't do that.

Speaker 3 (22:49):
That's not the time for that bad halftime bathroom cigarette snack,
whiteboard cigarette.

Speaker 4 (22:56):
Or orange slices? Like, what can you do? It's like,
you know, and there's a time in place for that.

Speaker 1 (23:00):
And I still think about that because I was I'm like,
these are people who are my bosses. And one person
I was really high up at ESPN. I'm like, I
can't believe he said yeah, yeah, yeah, one person's where
they they're gone.

Speaker 3 (23:11):
I know heavy Now, I'm like, you my long history
the business. I wait, I just wait, you.

Speaker 4 (23:19):
Want me to really you want you wanted me to
ask him.

Speaker 1 (23:22):
Those questions While he's doing he's gonna he's gonna hang
up that photo. What the hell kind of question that
he's I don't know, man, And he's gonna be not
into the interview, because what people don't get with interviews
is that this has to be an enjoyable experience for
them or it's not gonna be a good interview, and
he would have just blown me off, hung up the
fro and I really I was stunned that these are
my bosses that allegedly knew and quote knew a lot

(23:44):
about radio and they're telling me, yeah, I don't know, yeah,
that that interview. I'm like, if I was doing the
stuff during the day and I could do a lifestyle interview, hey,
that's of course what we're gonna do, but you really
wanted me to do that. And it's like they couldn't
admit that they were wrong, that they just wanted, Oh,
let's have this because this is a way, because nobody
could really doing it because Colin and Mike and Mike

(24:06):
back that we're so powerful that they couldn't really tell
them anything, right, because these guys are huge stars and
everything else. But so they make up for it with
the rest of the staff or Okay, we're really gonna
be on you guys for stuff. And I'm like, just
be fair, just be fair with what with what you do.
And I was so mad at that. I'm like, you
know what, I'm never gonna win here. I'm never because
that was the stupidest thing to tell me. Yeah, I
really liked the interview because it was about the game.

(24:26):
But you know how you want Okay.

Speaker 4 (24:28):
You've been sitting next to me for eleven years.

Speaker 1 (24:30):
No, and I love that and I did that. It
works out, okay, But like that's a question for Luca.
I'm like, okay, that's when you know, Hey, during the day, Hey,
you've had time to think about this. All right, I'm cool.
But well, you're coming off the game. You got to
ask game specific questions. You know, you know you're not
going to get a good answer with when you ask
Lucas something like, it just stops the momentum of the
uh yeah, the love fests, can.

Speaker 4 (24:50):
I tell you?

Speaker 2 (24:50):
So?

Speaker 3 (24:50):
I so I got to give him credit, and you know,
give her credit for that. I'm like, all right, there's
a lot of ass kissing here. Let me ask you a
question about adversity and you know the Blockbuster trade and
the change here, so I'll give you credit for that.

Speaker 4 (25:04):
I don't know who it is, but good idea.

Speaker 1 (25:07):
But look, Luca clearly is feeling more comfortable and like
he's telling the truth about how the closure is gonna
take a little while.

Speaker 4 (25:13):
No, you can tell me he's still very emotionally rapped
up in it. Yeah, it's a big life. Yeah, they
cost him one hundred and fifty million.

Speaker 7 (25:19):
All that's right.

Speaker 4 (25:20):
That's the thing that's lost in a lot of it.

Speaker 1 (25:22):
They're gonna have to tell Lebron, Hey, Lebron, you got
to give some money to Luca for the next few years.

Speaker 4 (25:26):
Like we got screwed out of one hundred million dollars.

Speaker 1 (25:28):
But you know that that is a big deal because
we've seen that, Like we talked about it with the
Wemby injury, and folks can laugh about it, but it's
a reality.

Speaker 4 (25:36):
Check, right.

Speaker 3 (25:37):
He he goes down for the year, But suddenly you
win one of these awards, the way they do these
dopey contract things, all of a sudden, you're elible eligible
for a super max because this guy got hurt like
or got sick. Like it's it's insane that the CBA
has that has parted the agreement. But that like if

(25:57):
Jared Jackson Junior goes and wins the Defensive Player of
the Year awards, suddenly he can make another one hundred
plus million dollars.

Speaker 4 (26:06):
Oh what he would get otherwise? That's just absurd, absolutely insane.

Speaker 7 (26:11):
Did you really say Lebron was gonna cover the bill?

Speaker 4 (26:13):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (26:13):
What do you think you think Lebron like he's making
fifty million a year. If they said to him, hey,
Luca got screwed out of money? Can you give him
like twenty five like half of what you're making to
help us out.

Speaker 7 (26:23):
There's a better chance that Rob Parker paced.

Speaker 3 (26:26):
Do you think can he just finesse him out of
the pizza place that Jason was waiting at that time?

Speaker 4 (26:32):
Here's it, here's it.

Speaker 1 (26:33):
I got got, I got got, I got, I got so,
I got a soda for it that I got over
Apoyo loco. Here you go, Luca, there it is for you.

Speaker 4 (26:44):
They have purchase on this.

Speaker 1 (26:45):
Sorry, we got more coming up in ninety seconds, but first.

Speaker 4 (26:50):
You apologize to each real Let's find.

Speaker 1 (26:52):
Out what's trending for man who's been compared to the
being the Luka Doncic of Fox Sports Radio. He's really
really too thick, but his stamina at the end of
games and nights is an issue. It's Steve de seger.

Speaker 10 (27:06):
I was waiting for He likes donuts too.

Speaker 7 (27:11):
Well.

Speaker 8 (27:12):
He did have a triple double and beat his old
team tonight, and he's got no advice for his kids.

Speaker 4 (27:18):
A little lou.

Speaker 8 (27:20):
Lakers over the Maps one O seven ninety nine. Luca
with a triple double including twelve assists, only two turnovers.
Lebron James twenty seven points. Lakers hosts Minnesota Thursday. Lakers
record thirty five and twenty one. Now they'll be playing
the Clippers Friday and Sunday nights this week. Kawhi Leonard
of the Clips is off the injury reportm it's the
last two games with the sore foot. Joel Embiid will

(27:41):
miss another game Wednesday for Philly. He's having tests on
his knee this week. By the way, the seventy six
ers first rounder this year is top six protected. They're
about one of the six worst teams in the league.
Otherwise it goes to COKC Nets center Nick Claxton was
suspended one game for too many flagrant fouls Golden State.

Speaker 1 (28:00):
When it's back a speedy suspension that the NBA came down.

Speaker 10 (28:03):
It goes by point, so it's kind of an automatic.
There was no review or you know.

Speaker 1 (28:08):
Yeah, but I did the speedy Clackson. Was the joke
very good? Well, I thought, just because it happened, I.

Speaker 4 (28:13):
Just said speed. You didn't get speedy, Okay.

Speaker 8 (28:15):
Now when I think speedy, it's like the guards speedy.

Speaker 4 (28:19):
Okay. Yeah, I thought you were gonna go speedy versus
slow poke.

Speaker 1 (28:23):
Now I thought you're gonna go like speedy, like like
well like with the the the meat on the stick,
with the inside the vinegar and the and the Italian sauce.

Speaker 4 (28:31):
Oh man, huh speed. Oh you have never have speedy.

Speaker 1 (28:34):
No, It's like chicken or steak or beef on a skewer,
and it's it's a big thing in on the East
Coast and especially where I grew up, Like it's big
in like New York and Pennsylvania. And it's in some
kind of sauce that is like an Italian dressing bass
but it's but it's creamy, it's got garlic, and it's hot.

Speaker 10 (28:52):
It's speedy, like the English word to be fast.

Speaker 4 (28:55):
Sp ei d e I I believe, is how it's spelled.

Speaker 10 (29:00):
There's probably not a lot of that food around.

Speaker 4 (29:03):
You can't with anyone.

Speaker 8 (29:05):
Boston won at six straight game, winning at Toronto. Cleveland
won it's eighth in a row, winning at Orlando. Golden
State beat Charlotte as LaMelo Ball of the Hornets was
out with a bad ankle. Memphis in overtime defeated Phoenix
one fifty one to one forty eight. John Morant twenty
nine points from three point range. He was one of twelve.
Houston edge Milwaukee one hundred to ninety seven. Milwaukee went

(29:27):
scoreless for about six minutes to open the fourth quarter,
and New Orleans down San Antonio one oh nine, one
oh three for the Spurs. D Aaron Fox from three
point range one for nine. College hoops Georgia upset number
three Florida. Oklahoma State beat number nine Iowa State. Tennessee
edged LSU Louisville won at Virginia Tech. The Falcons say
Kirk Cousins will stay with the team as the backup

(29:49):
quarterback to Michael Pennix. Kansas City expects tight end Travis
Kelcey to keep playing. The Bills gave wide receiver Khalil
Shakira a four year extension. The colt say they'll ad
competition quarterback for Anthony Richardson. Among the twelve NHL games,
Toronto came back for an overtime victory at Boston five
to four. Saint Louis won seven to two over Seattle.

(30:10):
Wins for Detroit and Florida. The Nationals resigned closer Kyle Finnegan.
A reminder of the IndyCar season begins this Sunday on Fox.
NASCAR's are also on Fox TV this Sunday. Women's Soccer's
annual four team tournament concludes Wednesday in San Diego, with
the US and Japan each two and oh.

Speaker 4 (30:27):
Back to you.

Speaker 1 (30:28):
All right, you want a great speedy story. I got
a really good speedy story for you.

Speaker 4 (30:31):
Okay, let's go. Yeah, you'll love this.

Speaker 1 (30:33):
So speedy's I want to say, in certain times, certain
types of speedy Spadinis have their origins, like in the
Ukraine and different places, like I think it came from
Europe somewhere. And in college, I was dating this girl
and she was Ukrainian and we were at the beginning
of our relationship. We loved each other, loved each other,
love each other, and we were at her house one

(30:56):
day and we came back. We were out somewhere, I
forget and we go back to her house and her
mom there's all these speedies that are made that are
on the counter, and we were hungry. I'm like, oh
my god, and these are awesome. There was like, you know,
fifteen of them, right, So we're like, oh my god,
these are great. And she has a couple and I
eat like all of them because they were so because
it's not really big chunks of it's little.

Speaker 4 (31:18):
Yeah, it's yeah, it's smaller chunks of meat.

Speaker 10 (31:20):
Right, you had met the family already.

Speaker 1 (31:22):
They loved me, they love me, They loved the family
love me. That well, here's the thing. The mom loved
me right, love me. She loved me for a while too,
and then didn't. But that was not my fault. So
so I ate like all of them. And they was
like you can't bury that. They were just like, well
that's a difference.

Speaker 10 (31:36):
You just said the mom loved me under the rug
dad's college boy.

Speaker 1 (31:41):
No, like oh no, no, no no, no, I never met
her dad.

Speaker 4 (31:44):
They were they were divorced, okay.

Speaker 1 (31:46):
And so there's there's speedies and there's then we eat
and there's like two left right at the air. We're like, wow,
that was so good. So we go out that night
to go or you know, wherever and her mom caught somehow.
It was before cell phones, and she to tell her where.
She was like, hey, I'm we're Jason, and we're here whatever.
She goes, okay, so this is what I hear on
the phone. Hey, I'm at Jason's.

Speaker 4 (32:08):
We're gonna be here. We gonna watch a movie and
then come home.

Speaker 1 (32:11):
Uh yeah the ones that were out, Yeah yeah, No
I had a couple. Oh no, Jason had all of them.
Oh oh, I'm hello. And she hangs with the phone
and I go what happened? And she said, my mom
was gonna have her boyfriend over for dinner tonight and

(32:32):
she made the speedies and that was dinner. And I'm like,
that's wow, okay, I can't go over your house for.

Speaker 4 (32:40):
You created a problem there. You put mom in a
bad position, international incident.

Speaker 1 (32:45):
She made all these speedies and I ate all of
them now, and I don't.

Speaker 4 (32:51):
Know what happened.

Speaker 1 (32:52):
She left a note it was not in English, of course,
like I cannot, I can't go to your house for
a while.

Speaker 4 (32:57):
I am this is all I am. Nuclear.

Speaker 10 (32:59):
Did you literally see this family and re enter this house.

Speaker 4 (33:03):
At at some point? I did?

Speaker 1 (33:05):
I think maybe I brought food in or I don't know,
before the mailbox. Now, this was before the mailbox.

Speaker 3 (33:11):
This is before the mail This is why is this
why you went You went bad because they found out
about the meat guy the mailbox thing.

Speaker 4 (33:20):
That was probably a year after this. Okay, yeah, well
year after So this is the gateway crime. And I
hate to say it.

Speaker 1 (33:25):
Not the only time I've ever met No, no, I've
ever I've eaten somebody else's dinner at my friend's house
that I didn't know was their dinner.

Speaker 4 (33:35):
There was no sign out. Yeah no, not the first time.

Speaker 11 (33:38):
No, I mean, somewhere leaves a plate of meats. You
you're not taking it. Not your house, not your kitchen.
But yeah, sure there was no sign. Well no, it's
not like I just walked in there eating. I was
there with a friend of mine whatever, and we ate.
I ate most of the food and didn't know that
that was dinner. So yeah, I did that a couple
of times.

Speaker 10 (33:55):
Really, the girlfriend is partly to blame, and she didn't
keep you from it's your you know, I was gonna
eat the food fifty two.

Speaker 4 (34:02):
Yeah, it was gonna eat. I mean you meet block
mom's boyfriend.

Speaker 1 (34:05):
Yeah, uh yeah, Okay, sure, yeah, okay, we got to
keep it clean.

Speaker 4 (34:09):
No, that's good, that's good.

Speaker 7 (34:10):
This story ends with your pop dating her two weeks later.

Speaker 1 (34:14):
No, wow, No, this story and this story and when
I met, when I introduced her to my dad's friends,
they all wanted to know if her mom.

Speaker 7 (34:22):
Was saying, I didn't mean your dad.

Speaker 1 (34:24):
They all want to know if her mom was saying,
is her mom single? Is her mom single?

Speaker 4 (34:27):
Is that what I say? No, Graham and Pop they
were together out there, definitely two weeks later. Coming up next.

Speaker 1 (34:34):
Okay again, because we had to do Luca and we
talked about the Speedies and ed because, okay, next, is
that football story? I promised we're gonna do it Jason
and Mike Fox.

Speaker 2 (34:47):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific, Fox.

Speaker 1 (34:57):
Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with My best friend
Mike Harmon. Well, not to be outdone with Luca's game
against the Mavericks being the number one story of the night.

Speaker 4 (35:07):
How about this from the New.

Speaker 1 (35:09):
York Daily News. According to reports in the New York
Daily News reporting this, if the Rams trade Matthew Stafford,
and Stafford's out there now trying to get a better
deal somewhere, and there's rumors that maybe the Giants are
the match and yeah, that would really be news to
shudeor Sanders. He really thinks he's going there. Aaron Rodgers

(35:33):
would like to come here play for the Rams, and
he would bring DeVante Adams with him.

Speaker 4 (35:40):
He'd bring a friend with him because.

Speaker 1 (35:42):
The Jets are gonna cut him. Because the Jets right
now are twenty four million dollars under the cap. They
can double it if they cut Davonte Adams. So obviously
that's going to happen. Garrett Wilson, stay happy. We're still
going to throw the football to you.

Speaker 4 (35:54):
So here's Aaron Rodgers saying, Hey, if you move on
from Stafford, I would love to be out here, and
I'll bring Davante Adams with you.

Speaker 7 (36:02):
Yeah, and I'm Batman.

Speaker 1 (36:03):
This This shows you the power or like Batman that
Aaron Rodgers has. He can't he can no longer just
say hey, if you move on for I want to
be out there. It's hey, I'm I want to come
out there. Yeah, okay, but I'll bring Davanta Adams.

Speaker 4 (36:18):
Well, let's have a conference. You can you can deliver
on Devontae Adams. All right, let's go. All that's fine.
Let's have a conversation now because you're bringing Devanta Adams
with you.

Speaker 3 (36:26):
So package deal, Cup and Stafford go to New York,
enter Rogers and Adams.

Speaker 4 (36:33):
That would be an interesting ushuf. You got neighbors in
the slot. I don't know that that's gonna work. I
don't know. I don't know.

Speaker 1 (36:40):
This is like when you invite somebody to a party
that like, uh, that has a really hot sister, and
and and you want to say, oh, hey, can I
come to your party? Yeah, I guess you could come.
But what if I brought my sister? Oh yeah, oh yeah,
both of you guys, come to the party.

Speaker 4 (36:55):
Come to the party. Yeah yeah, yeah, I'll come to
the party. Come to the right. Yeah, that'd be Gret.
Yeah that's great, that's come to the party. Yeah.

Speaker 7 (37:01):
Don't really like very.

Speaker 3 (37:02):
Much at that point if you I mean, not that
you're not excitable about the sister, but man, you know,
I mean it's a party, so in there if.

Speaker 4 (37:09):
He was a good friend, he was already in.

Speaker 9 (37:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (37:12):
But now you're going and the bonus one and the bonus.
But yeah, this is an intriguing little twist all of this,
right Minnesota having to answer all sorts of questions about
the health of JJ McCarthy and what they plan on
doing with Sam Darnold. In other words, let me do
a little tap dance here for you in front of
the microphone. So, yeah, the next week or so is

(37:32):
gonna be really interesting with the quarterback carousel and as
the players themselves that are at the combine start to talk,
because every once in a while they give you a
little grain of truth of what these teams are telling him.
And maybe we could just play connect the dots. Connected
Dot sucks. Even Nico Harrison, isn't that dumb?

Speaker 1 (37:55):
I don know, dude, really really really, the Jets reeled
you to beat it.

Speaker 4 (37:59):
You're done? Yeah?

Speaker 7 (38:00):
Yeah, Since when is he running the Rams? When he says,
I I want a billion dollars, I.

Speaker 4 (38:05):
Can bring Devonte Adams with me. That's that's the whole thing.

Speaker 3 (38:08):
Well, can he promise that Devonte Adams is going on
to play football for a full year?

Speaker 1 (38:13):
No, no, no, no. DeVonta Adams has said he wants
to be out in LA. Yeah, but the Rams in
Chargers should be fighting for him. We got they both
need that guy. You want DeVonta Adams. If the Jets
didn't break him, maybe he was once broke him. Once
he get into the offense, he was terrific. I mean,
he had his Jets moment where he doesn't go down

(38:33):
and bounds and we wind up losing the.

Speaker 4 (38:34):
To that happens.

Speaker 1 (38:35):
But he's still I mean, he's at thirty two, he's
still got another couple of really good years left. And
you're looking at making a big jump this year if
you're the Chargers from the playoffs to deepen the playoffs, Yeah, yeah,
go get DeVonta Adams.

Speaker 4 (38:48):
He wants to come out. Yeah, but he'd come and
kill some of the numbers of mcconkeys. So what are
you doing? I'll tell you.

Speaker 1 (38:52):
I don't like the fact that the Rams want to
move on from Matthew Stafford, but I'm I feel confident
in the Rams that they have the play and in
place for the next quarterback. Now, if that's Sam Darnold, okay,
If that's Trevor Lawrence, Okay, if that's Aaron Rodgers, ooh dude, really,
I know that DeVonta Adams comes with everything, but the

(39:14):
fact that Aaron Rodgers by himself wouldn't be enough to
sell anybody. But if I bring Devanta, dude is you
can't go cheap on a quarterback. Man, you can't go
Look at what happened to the Steelers when they tried
to do it last year. Hey, we're going bargain basement
on him. Yeah, what happened on now we're looking for another.
It was good for stretches from both quarterbacks.

Speaker 3 (39:32):
No, since the theme of the night was Nico Harrison
and his sleeper kind of sleeper agent for the Lakers.

Speaker 4 (39:40):
This goes back to what we were talking about yesterday.

Speaker 3 (39:42):
You gotta listen to the whole show and go back
into the podcast talking about you just slid Trevor Lawrence
into your analysis there. It's like that you have two
former Rams there, two guys that were on Stave, Liam
Cohen and the new GM that were members of the
RAMS organization that would suddenly set Trevor Lawrence back to
the Rams.

Speaker 4 (40:03):
Highly entertaining. I'm telling you, man's gotta get some run.
I mean, click click click, get it out there.

Speaker 1 (40:08):
Nego Harrison working for the Lakers while he's working for
the Mavericks.

Speaker 4 (40:12):
Tell you could happen out crazy ers. Uh oh no,
I could. I could easily see.

Speaker 1 (40:20):
I could see the Rams doing this in a little
bit too much of you know, Frankenstein's Monster and Sean
McVeigh going, oh, Aaron Rodgers will be fine.

Speaker 4 (40:27):
Yeah, okay, I don't know, man.

Speaker 3 (40:30):
But the other thing, if they really wanted U Matt
Stafford to stay around and we're one hundred percent committed,
it ain't go find a deal, go find Uh, you
can't go search your marketplace.

Speaker 4 (40:40):
Do you really think he's going to be better than Stafford?

Speaker 1 (40:42):
Of course, not like you gotta go big, you gotta
go younger, more mobile, someone that can be dynamic like
that's not gonna work. Man, Even bringing DeVante Adam's not
gonna work. Exit out about a Fresco ectit swallowing dome
coming up next, my buddy Ben Mallor.
