(00:52):
should be. Well, boy, do we have a crazy night tonight?
In sports, we had a crazy day. Report cards came
out for the NFL potential injuries going on at the Combine,
and I gotta say this is one of my favorite
days of the year. Like I love when the NFL
Report Card list comes out, which is the list we

(01:13):
now get every year that publishes the findings of every
team and how they feel about different things their team does,
from how they feel their owner is as an owner,
how their head coaches, how they feel the weight room is,
how they feel that nutrition is, how they feel childcare
is taken care of by the team, how they feel

(01:34):
that families are taken care of. It's it's one of
those quality of life things that in the last couple
of years has become a really big thing, and it's
it's crazy to see the teams that get the highest
ratings that do it right across the board, that get a's,
the Dolphins and the Vikings at the top of the list,
and you know, teams that aren't doing it the right way,
like the Bengals got an F minus for how they

(01:56):
deal with families like and not just an F. There
are like six F minuses for how you deal with
families and some next level stuff right now. The Jets,
I mean, no, no, no, no, the Jets didn't get
an F on that they did. The owner got an
F and he was the only owner to get well. Sure,

(02:17):
but yeah, the F grades are obviously the most interesting
ones because yeah, hey, the teams that do things right,
you're supposed to do things.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
Right and the families terribly and they feed them terribly.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
Just just just really quick. You know why this is
why this is a good thing is this is great
for the NFL because there's not a real correlation between
teams that get great reports, great report cards and win
it all. Like look like the Dolphins. They get a
lot of issues on the field, but they're organization that
does it right. The Chiefs get to the Super Bowl
every year and their owner gets a C minus. Yeah. Right,

(02:47):
So there's this not you know, it's not a correlation
between winning and losing, but is exactly. But what it
is is is that it's a It's two things. It's
keeping your players happy. They report to work happy. A
happy player is a good player. It's a tenant that
you can apply to any sport, any situation. A happy
player is a good player. When a player comes in

(03:09):
happy because they's got a great weight room, the locker
room is great. They take care of their families, there's childcare,
the food is really good. A happy player is a
good player. They're gonna be better overall, a better player
when you do things the right way. And the other
part is, hey, you're gonna get free agents who are
gonna say, Wow, we don't have this kind of weight room,
we don't have this kind of nutrition. We don't have

(03:31):
we don't have they don't do this for families, we
don't get childcare. Wow, I really want to come here.
This is gonna be something that pushes this team over
the top and free agency, so it's important for that.
It's important for those reasons. And when you sum it
all up, no matter what, this is good for the
players because no owner likes getting an F. No, because
every owner they see this is a report caught on them,

(03:54):
because this is about their weight room, because they're the
ones paying for it. They're the ones that are paying
for the childcare. They're the ones that's setting up out
the training table and the food. And nobody likes to
get an F. And all the teams you see they
get bad grades. The next year, their grades go way up.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
The Chargers exact the biggest. Well yeah, the Jets way yeah. Well,
I mean the didn't change. I mean, what do you
need to do?

Speaker 1 (04:14):
Yeah, I mean he came back. Yeah, Like the Chargers,
they had the biggest increase from they were twenty fifth
last year in their fourth this year, Right, what did
they do they hired Jim Harbaugh. Great move by by Spanos, Right, hey, hey,
let's go hire Jim Harbor. Brings in a new culture,
new everything, right, so you can see it. So it's
good from that perspective. Yes, it means stuff for free
agency happy players. To give players more because they put

(04:37):
their bodies on the line every single week and they
give up a quality of life later on that they
give for what they have now. So yeah, everybody should
get something like this. They should shouldn't have to worry
about teams like the Cardinals getting an F minus in
their locker room, like what's gone? How do you gonna
f mindy? Like like rats like.

Speaker 3 (04:54):
Running across the middle of the locker room, stealing shoulder pads,
like putting on shoulder pads and walking away, like how
do you get this? But hopefully by next year, Hey,
an owner says, I don't want an F and anything
and everything gets better for the players the next season
because of it.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
So that's what the that's the best part about this.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
They've been invaded by the pizza rats and they have
moved on to heavier equipment.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
It's like a man, hey, get those cleats. Those are
sweet cleats. Man, I saw fox at a feature on
those man, those cleats are like worth like a thousand dollars.
Go get them.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
There's a picture of cheese on the side.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
Is it edible?

Speaker 3 (05:29):
All of that to say, this is the pro version
of recruiting by your current team, of saying what's good,
what's bad, what's ugly, what needs to change in the
front office. As we know, a lot of guys get
cycled out gms and front office personnel. It's one of
those tried and true things across the NFL. We we

(05:49):
cite these six to eight teams that have any level
of continuity and consistency, They generally don't rate terribly poorly
here because they realize what it takes to run an organization.
If you move anywhere, right, you're gonna move apartments, You're
gonna move into and buy a house, a condo, whatever.
In a neighborhood, what are you looking at? You're looking
at the amenities, You're looking at what's in the neighborhood.

Speaker 1 (06:11):
What are the schools?

Speaker 3 (06:12):
How do they rate? If you're going into an apartment complex,
does it have a laundry room? Do you have to
go off site? Does it have you know, a little
workout room. Does it have a pool, does it have
a song? All of those things? Right, You're you're checking
boxes going down the line. That's what free agents and
guys that are thinking about re upping. What's the experience
like beyond just game days?

Speaker 1 (06:33):
Right, which is why.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
When we get into the training table and the nutritionist
and trainers and weight facilities, it's a lot of questions. Right,
that's a lot of the basics keeping the family happy,
so it's something they're not worried about. Right. How many
tales do we hear about guys that that are fighting
about tickets and whatever else as you get into the
playoffs and towards the Super Bowl, think, yeah, I had

(06:57):
to hand that off to somebody else because it's just
been a mess to deal with. Well, in theory, you've
got staff that are helping families deal with that, that
are helping with childcare and all of those different things
that you need to handle on a day to day basis,
So you could just go out, you know, and do your.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
Job on the football field.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
So the less you're worrying about these other things, guess
what you can concentrate on your work, spend more time
in film review, in the rehab and treatments. And that's
the other part, right, the expenditures. We've talked about it
for years on the show. The teams that consistently you've
got a lot of guys going to injured reserve or

(07:38):
getting staying with the red line of demarcation of what's
injured on them this week and not getting back on
the field. That becomes a damning effect on rosters. That's
another thing that the Chargers had, that the Ravens have
had that some of these teams in the past, that
they're getting right. Part of it is off the survey.
Do guys feel like they were done right in that

(08:00):
regard to get them back on the field and healthy
so they can earn their living now but also go
earn the next contract. All of that plays together. So
this is a very important piece of information and I'd
love to see more of the the one liners for
each of them. Right Eberflu's getting called out for being
useless in meetings and things, and maybe I just need

(08:20):
all the Bears data.

Speaker 1 (08:21):
But beyond that, you know.

Speaker 3 (08:23):
It's it's fun fodder to chat about, and certainly when
you get a bunch of f minuses mixed in Jason.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
I mean, that's that's about as good as it gets.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
Jason.

Speaker 1 (08:31):
Yeah, what do you got for us?

Speaker 4 (08:32):
Did we really need report cards surveys to know that
the Jets stinking everything?

Speaker 1 (08:37):
Well, you know, and that's the thing I'm like, you know,
remember that they were twenty ninth though. Remember that Simpsons
where Homer, uh you know, Bart was away at summer
camp and and he's watching the news and he goes
and there's a revolted summer camp being led by a
group of of kids who have taken over the camp.
And Homer goes, don't be the boy. Don't be the boy.
Don't be the boy. And then they show Bart sitting

(08:59):
on the throne looking like it's Lord of the Flies.
Like when this came out, Hey, NFL report cards came out,
and I'm going, don't be the Jets. Don't be the
Jets up. Now, the only team to give their owner
and F was the Jets giving Woody Johnson and f
the only team in the league to give him an F. Now,

(09:19):
was I surprised, No, because it's the Jets. I know
how bad Woody Johnson is. But to see the reasons
that it's a culture of fear here and that stood
out in the grades, and then to see that the
thing that upset the players the most were how he
dealt with the food. Like they thought the food was
the worst a year ago, and the one person they
liked was their nutritionists. And what happened. The nutritionists got fired,

(09:41):
the food got worse, and the nutritionists went to another
team and did so well that that grade went way
up from like in like a C to what B
plus Like this, This is what goes on. This is
how Woody Johnson gets a bleep in f from the
Jets on this. And I'm like, I'm not surprised at this.
I'm not. I'm just and there's nothing that could surprise
me about this. But wow, man, you you gave, you

(10:04):
gave your owner and f man, he went, he went
from a B minus a year ago. He was an
F a culture of fear, stories about how his kid
is making decisions because Brick didn't like a player's Madden
rating and just all the career. I want Aaron Rodgers benched.
I want other players benched, Like I can't believe Aaron
Glenn wanted to work there. I can't believe the guy.

(10:26):
I can't believe Aaron Rodgers wanted to stay with the
Jets with all of this stuff. How did the how
did the Jets be this destination for these guys? When
Woody Johnson gives you an f he's the worst owner
in the NFL. I want to go be there. I
want to be a part of this. I mean, I mean,
Jet's gonna Jet, man, I mean I just look at
this and I go, of course, yeah, it's it's just

(10:47):
another day they for the Jets.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
The Jets quote multiple players express concern about the training
staff's lack of attention to their needs. Unquote weight room quote.
The players feel they don't have enough space to train
a thing, ranking twenty seven out of thirty two. So
there's people a little more salty there. You did get
a being strength coaches, So that was good. Yeah, no,

(11:10):
that's good that they seem to.

Speaker 4 (11:11):
Like translated to the field. Mic.

Speaker 1 (11:13):
Yeah no, they liked a brick. Yeah no. But look,
and the thing is is like if you if you're
if you're being a being a cheapo on food, right,
if you're not, I mean that you're gonna lose me
as a fan. You're gonna lose me as a customer.
You're gonna I'll never go to your restaurant. I'll never
go if you go cheap on food and you have Hey,
we have this, this is what our restaurant is like, Okay, great,

(11:36):
and then over the years with the pandemic coming out,
we raise prices. But you know, the either the food
is not the same because the portions aren't the same,
or the quality is not the same because they skimped
on big ingredients. Like I'm never going back into your
restaurant again, man, I don't care what. Yeah, I'm paying
for something. Here. You got to give me the same
food that you gave me. And and here's the Jets. Hey, yeah,

(11:58):
it's really bad. Oh instead of proven it, we're it's
gonna make it worse. Like this is like this hits
home to me, man, because I feel that way about food,
and like, here's NFL players who all eat a lot
of food, and you should have great food available. No, instead,
it's one of the worst things you could possibly do.
I I don't know what to say, man, I really
I really don't. I really don't. Other than Jets gear

(12:18):
should be half priced for the entire year of twenty
twenty five, I don't know what else to say, I
really don't.

Speaker 3 (12:23):
Well, they like their new dietitian, so that's good. So
that's the look. You gotta find your wins.

Speaker 4 (12:30):
He gets a quarterback.

Speaker 1 (12:32):
Yeah, here's the bright side, here's here's the bright side
of of the f for Whatody Johnson?

Speaker 3 (12:38):
Okay, there's not a bright side. I was lucky for
there's there's not a bright side. They ranked twenty fourth
or worse in every category except for the nutritionists.

Speaker 1 (12:47):
Plus, I mean, really, don't don't be the Jets. Don't
be the Jets. Due, No, it's the Jets, it's the Okay,
that's great. Ardy Johnson gets an f oh man, but
I'm ed Brockman. I was gonna see what Brick Johnson got.
Maybe Brick got a higher grade. I don't know. May
maybe work got a good grade. Hey, Brick gets an Hey.

Speaker 3 (13:05):
Do we get the same grades that get spit out
from what he's doing on.

Speaker 1 (13:09):
Madden or what he does love lamp Ah he does.
Oh my sweet Brick, Oh my sweet brick. Future Jets
owner Brick Johnson, Oh my goodness, telling me man, I'll
be rooting for the Lions by then. Exit out about
a Fresca exit swollen Dome, Jason Smith, Mike Harman live

crazy story in sports today, that's nothing.

Speaker 1 (15:10):
The tire Rack dot com Studios. Where now a story
you weren't expecting about podcasting? Oh yeah, well, I mean, look,
they've been the order of the day for athletes the
last few years. Podcasts. Everybody's got a podcast, I have
a podcast, got a podcast, podcast, podcast, podcast? Paul George

(15:30):
had a podcast PG thirteen of the Sixers, but announcing
today on the final episode of podcast Pe with Paul George,
he's taking a break from podcasting and let Paul George
explain why he is pausing his podcast for the rest
of the season.

Speaker 5 (15:50):
Fellas, It's no secret this season is up to this point, man,
it hasn't been what we envision. I know my goal
when I first signed with Philadelphia was to bring a
championship to these amazing fans here. I still remain positive
about that and that is still the case and where
I'm coming from. With that being said, though, I want
to let the podcast pe family know that after today's

(16:13):
episode with Dwhight, I plan to take a break from
the pod just to focus on getting my body right,
getting mentally right, and you know, help this squad make
a push towards our goal to finish the season. I'll
give ourselves a chance to be in contentions to compete
for a championship.

Speaker 1 (16:31):
Okay, there's there's, in the words of John Paul Morosi,
a lot to unpack there. First things first, Okay, haven't
been the healthiest putting worker. Again, my body healthiest possible.
Number one. So you're not in shape. You're not in
You're not in shape, Luca, You're not in shape, and
it's game sixty of the NBA season. You're not in

(16:53):
shape yet. I got to get my body right. Okay,
so you're not in shape. That's red flag number one.
Red flag number two is what are you doing in
the podcast that's keeping you body from being the healthiest?
Like what are you doing? Like are you downing a
tub of ice cream while you're doing the podcast? Like
what's going on? You're talking for forty five minutes? How
is that keeping your body from being hell? I don't understand.

(17:14):
I don't understand the wear a tear on your body.
We do radio four hours at night. Our body should
be disintegrated. If that's the case, I can't come out.
I can't do anything physical.

Speaker 3 (17:23):
We do four hours of radio, you do forty five minutes,
and hey, you know what I'm not.

Speaker 1 (17:26):
I'm not my body. I gotta take care of my body.
This podcast is running roughshod over my body. I can't
do anything anymore. Man, it's a podcast.

Speaker 3 (17:34):
Yeah, I'm a little concerned. I mean, I don't really
know the scope of his podcast. I'll be honest. They're
sitting on the car. They said, on a couch. We
talk about so they sat on the couch. But to
quote the great Rob Parker, I don't miss it or
you know, the whole shot thing. But it's the idea
of do they have to binge watch shows? So maybe

(17:58):
they're smoking hookah? Mike, you know, that's just it was.

Speaker 1 (18:03):
The show today was the Cops. I don't know that
beer and hookah on the show, Like, I mean, I
guess like citizens arrest that man, I guess you can.

Speaker 3 (18:12):
I never hear it, so I never miss it. But yeah,
so I don't know what the purview is. We joked
with Rick Buker about it when he joined us earlier.
You know, just the idea of are you in a
research lab, right, You're going to some university library, you're
hanging out and trying to figure out the the origins.

Speaker 1 (18:33):
Of man or something before you step in.

Speaker 3 (18:35):
No, I think you're just kind of talking about the
game in life in general, right, So it doesn't look
like a lot of heavy lifting. It's not to dismiss
what folks are doing for a podcast, but if that's
legitimately taking you away from your job, you know you
heard the sound screaming. It was a bunch of athletes going,
what do you do week? You're killing us? Notice how
he takes the little side thing to go The great

(18:58):
fans of Philip.

Speaker 1 (18:59):
Oh yeah, hey, great fans Philadelphia while we're twenty and
thirty eight this year. Now, this is why athletes. It's
really tough for athletes to make it in sports, right.
They think they can do everything right. But the reason
Paul George is giving this up peer pressure because it's
a bad optic that his team stinks and still every

(19:20):
day or every couple of whatever it is, they have
a podcast, right, Like Jalen Brunts and Josh Hart were
starting to get criticism for their having a podcast. Why
what's happened to the nickt lately?

Speaker 5 (19:29):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (19:29):
Yeah, they're getting boat raced by fifty by every good
team they play. When your team isn't playing well, Oh
why are you doing a podcast? It's a bad optic.
Does it affect them at all? No. They can spend
forty minutes as part of their day doing a podcast
a couple of days a week. That's not a big deal.
But it's a bad optic that, Hey, I'm sitting here
joking around when my team is losing, right, and when

(19:52):
normally you should just say, hey, it doesn't matter. This
is not about preparational It's forty minutes I have out
of my day this is what I do instead of oh,
I have to stop the podcast like Paul George was.
Whoever convinced him or bullied him into not doing the
podcast anymore, And that's gonna happen. I'm sure if the
Knicks go on a big losing streak, it's going to
be why are you guys doing this podcast? Why is

(20:13):
this happening? That's how it goes, right, And not every
athlete can take criticism. They want to. They don't like
being criticized, right, but they so they go on their
own podcasts they can. Okay, I'm free of it. But
now it's off. The team stinks. Why are you still
doing a podcast? If you do it once a week,
it's an event, you do it on an off day,
you schedule things. That's fine, it's different. But when you're
trying to jam it in and do a podcast the

(20:36):
morning of the game, Yeah, fans are a little bit
more heady than that, and they get that, Okay, this
is a why are you doing this the morning of
the game. You're worried about this year. You're spending a
lot of mental energy when you have a game that night.
It's a really bad optic, right, Draymond Green had it
figured out the right way for the most part. But
when the team stinks, it doesn't matter. And this is why.

(20:56):
And when you lose nine in a row like the
like the seventy six Ers have, and this is the
pressure Paul George gets to say, I want to stop
doing my podcast now. We talked about it after the
game tonight where the Sixers lost to the Knicks, and
he said, it's more just so to focus on here.
I want to put a ton of work in towards
getting my body as healthy as possible, focus on being here,
try to turn things around. We got to give ourselves

(21:18):
a chance, you know, more explanation about Hey, I just
have to focus more on the here. And that's a
great message. Right It's a little late, a little late
for that because you're twenty and thirty eight and you're
barely at this point a contender for the for the
playing spot. Where are you going this year? Right? So
to say this now, I'm like, where was this months ago?
When this season was still going you signed a big
contract to come again? The optic is terrible. And to

(21:43):
have Paul George sit here and say something like, yeah,
I gotta get my body right, Like, what the hell
you even saying? Man, Just say the true thing. I'm
sick of people criticizing me because my team stinks, and
I got to stop doing this podcast. Because that's really
what it's all. That's the nuts and bolts of why
players stopped doing podcasts and why Paul George is with
this podcast.

Speaker 3 (22:00):
Yeah, don't read the comments and don't let the bullies
in the media and bully you out of the media.

Speaker 1 (22:08):
Does that make sense?

Speaker 3 (22:08):
Yes for Paul George, because the only way, the only
thing that you're saying as you put these things together,
just say you're tired of it.

Speaker 1 (22:18):
You know what it's done.

Speaker 3 (22:19):
Nobody would have missed it except for whoever's subscribing to it.

Speaker 1 (22:23):
Maybe he's got a ton of subscribers. I don't know.

Speaker 3 (22:25):
But the larger message that you're putting into here is
that you haven't devoted time to get in your body.
Right to this point, all you've done is open yourself
up to more criticism. Like the team's playing poorly, Joel
Embiid has been unavailable for a great portion.

Speaker 1 (22:42):
Of the year. George himself missed some time. But you're
back in.

Speaker 3 (22:47):
I think you're gonna get the benefit of the doubts
that you're giving an honest effort in the rehab room
and whatever. You're on the court, right if you're still
missing time doing podcasts again, it goes to optics versus reality.
It's forty five but folks saying, hey, you could be
in a hyperbaric chamber for another forty five minutes and
letting your body recover and heal and whatever else. Don't

(23:08):
don't give into it by doing this. It's it's like
all the stories we're getting out of Dallas, like the
thou Dost protest too much. Basically, what you're now telling
me is you sat on your ass and you were lazy,
h and and all of this is now getting to you.
A lot of banjos.

Speaker 1 (23:26):
They like to think that they're, hey, mentally strong enough
to do stuff, but they can't take the heat, right,
I mean that that's really what this is. They can take.

Speaker 3 (23:34):
But Michael Parsons earlier in the week, Jason, same thing.
Should I be doing the podcast? Should I not?

Speaker 1 (23:39):
Doesn't? Nobody cares? What else you don't, course, you're doing
a pie.

Speaker 3 (23:42):
But even during the season, it's like it does.

Speaker 1 (23:44):
It if you're winning, nobody but even football, it's like
it's one game a week, and if you do one
and if you're an athlete and you want to do
it a smart way, right, And that's the thing is
that if you want to do it a smart way
where it's okay, we do the podcast once a week
and I'm sorry, but I got to do it on
an off day. And that's when we're doing it. And
we're only going up on an off day. We're not
gonna do it on day there's a game, We're not

(24:06):
gonna do it. We're gonna do it on an off day.
And it's planned. And that's it. Like if you did that,
you could get away with it and people wouldn't care.
But like here he recorded the podcast this morning, right,
like this is dude, what are you doing? You got
a game? Right again? The optics are bad and a
lot of players can't stick with bad op They can't
come back from bad optics, they can't deal with bad optics.
So you get stories like this where Paul George is

(24:28):
giving it up and other players are gonna be convinced
of giving it up. This is just how it goes. Man.
You think, hey, I'm I'm mentally strong enough to do well.
I could do whatever I want and then here comes, hey,
your team is not winning. Oh wait wait, I gotta
give this up. I gotta stop doing it.

Speaker 3 (24:40):
Hey, Jason Smith, pr guy, you just have to go
to him and say, don't read the comments, man, yeah,
just no, Yeah, I mean it's ninety percent of what
you get, are gonna tell you your trash. The other
ten percent is asking for an autograph for being sick
a fan and hoping to carease some pavor. So why bother?

Speaker 5 (25:00):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (25:00):
I don't know if he'll go back to it. Probably well,
I guess when the six is get eliminated, he'll go
back to it.

Speaker 3 (25:05):
Uh, you know, while they're officially eliminated in like a
week or two.

Speaker 1 (25:08):
I mean, just kidding.

Speaker 3 (25:08):
They're two and a half games behind the Bulls. That's
how bad the Eastern Conference.

Speaker 1 (25:13):
Dude. The Bulls just beat them by fifty the other night.
I know they did.

Speaker 4 (25:17):
I mean, come on, man.

Speaker 3 (25:20):
Ah, that's that is a very fine question. They may
very well raise one's.

Speaker 1 (25:26):
Some positivity in Chicago. I mean, hey, hey, hey, you know,
like we we joked around last year that when when
Michigan won the national title, all the coaches they fired,
like they fired Nick Saban, they pushed him to retire.
They you know, they fired Kaylin de borf All from
watch all these different things, right, Like, Hey, the Bulls
ended a podcast, Like you fired that podcast? You winning

(25:47):
by third, winning by up by fifty to night winning
by thirty two. You fired Paul George's podcast.

Speaker 3 (25:52):
Man, But here's but here's the thing, buddy, When one
pod podcast goes away, it's like a hydra, like eight
more heads and podcasts are showing up. Before he even
deactivated his a bunch of other folks had the idea
that they were going to buy themselves a little microphone
and tell the world what they thought of this, that
or the other. Can you speaking of Wige, you can

(26:14):
subscribe to my podcast, Jason.

Speaker 1 (26:17):
Can you sum up the Sixers year in one sentence? Yeah?
And Bead's not healthy And Paul George stopped doing his
podcast that's the Sixers the Bulls beat us.

Speaker 3 (26:29):
Yeah, now that is a seminal moment ending podcast. Man,
that's the big the Bulls big thing this year. Hey, hey,
the last thirty years of the Bulls.

Speaker 1 (26:37):
Jordan's walk off against against the Jazz, Derek Rose's MVP
Bulls beat the Sixers by thirty and and Paul George's
podcast and since twenty twenty five. Well, sorry, what did
I miss Prosperg signing Lonzo. Oh, that's it. It is
giving a lot. He hasn't been on the court for
four years. Let's give him two more years. Oh good idea,

(26:58):
let's go to give him money. He's like exit out
about a Fresca exit swollen down the Jason Smith Show
with my best friend Mike Harmon. Tell him how to
find out what's trending in the wide world of sports
from someone who's been called the Paul George of Fox
Sports Radio. You loved her when she was with the Clippers.
Now maybe not so much because Paul George is a Sixer.

(27:20):
It's Monty blagyas.

Speaker 6 (27:23):
I'm not even gonna respond.

Speaker 1 (27:25):
Didn't you love Paul George? Aw, he's not a Clipper anymore.

Speaker 6 (27:28):
I being compared to Paul George, Paul.

Speaker 1 (27:30):
George, He's made a lot of money in his career. Monster.

Speaker 3 (27:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (27:33):
The last person I want to be compared to is
the guy that wants to get paid more money for
not wanting to be the number one on a team.

Speaker 3 (27:40):
Okay, okay, so bad comparison. Okay, let me do it differently.

Speaker 1 (27:44):
Okay, now, no, I'm calling that's something that.

Speaker 3 (27:49):
You know. If you find that number, let me know.

Speaker 4 (27:54):
Johnson right right, and then Paul George.

Speaker 6 (27:56):
Now, Paul George.

Speaker 2 (27:58):
Jason, I am hurt.

Speaker 1 (28:00):
I wait wait, I compared you to somebody. I compared
you to Luca last hour, and I only said good
thing you did? You You're the one that said I
like beer. Yes, okay, what have you done for me lately?

Speaker 3 (28:12):
You know what you need to do tomorrow lately? Did
you deliver some beer?

Speaker 1 (28:15):
Jason? Yes, you do, Yes, you do.

Speaker 4 (28:18):
Good beer if it hit him in the head.

Speaker 3 (28:20):
All right, now to someone who's been white, Siriani, I mean.

Speaker 1 (28:25):
Called the Detroit Pistons of Fox Sports Radio best story
in the league this year by far in his blogna.

Speaker 4 (28:32):
Look at him, Look at him.

Speaker 1 (28:33):
He really doesn't want me to.

Speaker 4 (28:34):
Call a char Look at him.

Speaker 1 (28:37):
No, I go with Frostburg. Yeah goo, good luck finding
the number.

Speaker 3 (28:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (28:40):
I'm gonna end up just calling you, Jason and complaining
to your test At the NFL Combine revealed the potential
number one pick and Penn State star Abdul Carter has
a stress.

Speaker 2 (28:50):
Reaction in his right foot.

Speaker 6 (28:52):
He is gonna have to decide very soon whether to
have surgery or not. Apparently there's mixed opinions on it.
Rules may be changing in the NFL's all. The league
announced that overtime this offseason is something that they're gonna
look at, potentially implementing postseason overtime rules for regular season games.

Speaker 2 (29:09):
Let's check in on the NBA. The Pistons, Yeah, I agree,
great story.

Speaker 6 (29:12):
This year they won eight in a row, defeating the
Celtics one seventeen to ninety seven. Detroit also ended a
twelve game losing streak that they had against Boston okayse
was down eighteen out one point, came back to defeat
the Nets, win twenty nine to one twenty one. The
Knicks handed the seventy six ers their ninth straight loss
with a one ten to one oh five win. Jalen
Brunson thirty four points, seven assists. The Clippers topped the

(29:35):
Bulls win twenty two to one seventeen. James Harden thirty
points in the win. Kings outscored the Jazz won eighteen
to one oh one, while they heat crushed the Hawks
won thirty one to one oh nine, The Rockets beat
the Spurs won eighteen to one oh six, and the
Pacers defeated the Raptors one eleven to ninety one. In
men's college hoops, there was one upset over ranked teams.
Vanderbilt had an eighty six to eighty four win over

(29:56):
number twelve Texas A and m number eight Michigan. Stay
on a, you guys saw this, but basically neck and
neck with number sixteen Maryland. Maryland probably thought they were
gonna head to overtime. The Spartans hit a half court
buzzer beater they wanted fifty eight to fifty five. Number
one Auburn crushed Ole miss One of six to seventy six,
and number seven Saint John's had a seventy six to

(30:17):
seventy win over Butler. The Red Storm has clinched a
share of the Big East regular season title for the
first time since nineteen ninety two. Three games in the NHL,
the Canucks edged the Kings three to two in overtime.
The Avalanche crushed the Devil's five to one, and the
Jets of one eleven in a row after beating the
Senators four to one. Okay, guys, it's been fine.

Speaker 1 (30:37):
Back to you. Look how good the Jets are, Monsie.
They are so good good they are. You can't stop.

Speaker 6 (30:42):
So I know you can't stop the Jets.

Speaker 1 (30:44):
All they do is score. They win at least one
jetss win at.

Speaker 6 (30:49):
Least Yeah, that's true. That's true.

Speaker 1 (30:51):
Thank you very much, Moncie. Thanks by Jason Smith Mike

Harmon coming up in about a half hour. But straight ahead,
we got big football to end the show with, including
a late breaking story tonight that could affect the very
top of the NFL Draft. Jason and Mike. This is

(31:35):
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (31:39):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific, Fox.

Speaker 1 (31:48):
Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with my best friend
Mike Harmon, Live Fromthetirack dot Com studios. Before you get
to this big NFL topic that came up, you started
breaking in the middle of show tonight, just to spend
a little bit of time on this. A lot of
big results from the NBA tonight, right, we talked about
the Sixers losing their ninth in a row. Podcast p

(32:10):
is ending his podcast, Playoff Feed podcast, Paul George is
ending his podcast.

Speaker 3 (32:15):
He could have sent some subscribers our way. Yeah, flags
of The Jason Smith Show with Mike Garman. I mean
that would have been great. Yeah, never know, maybe we
will maybe get four more.

Speaker 1 (32:26):
Is still four more. But the best story in the
NBA keeps going. And it doesn't mean they're the best team,
but they're the best story of this season. And it's
not even close. The Pistons win their eighth in a
row and they blow out the Celtics. They don't just win.
They look no no Jalen Brown obviously, but still they
win their eighth straight one seventeen ninety seven. Uh, this

(32:50):
is there's no better story. A team that at this
point the last few years is in the single digits
for wins right there, like plus twenty five over a
year ago. We've talked about JB. Bickerstaff easily should be
the coach you they're doing without Jayden Ivy, Kate Cunnahan's
become a star. Right. You have so many great things
going on in the NBA, but nothing is better than Detroit.

(33:13):
This heritage team that hasn't had hardly any headlines for
going on twenty years. Suddenly here they are. They're a
big playoff threat, and I'll tell you what, they could
be a top four team this year in the East.
Because it's that kind of year. And if I'm the Calves,
I don't want to play that. I'd rather play the
Knicks in the first round in the caves. I don't
want to renew that rivalry. I don't want to play

(33:33):
the Pistons in the first round. But I dig this.

Speaker 3 (33:36):
You've got Cleveland finally with an identity that is an
elo getting shot over by Michael Jordan and or Lebron
James like it's a new era there. And so we've
got Cleveland and Detroit, both with young cores where we
can have this be a battle in the Eastern Conference. Sorry,
Nicks are there a little bit too. And whoever succeeds
Tom Thibodau, he's got a nice base to work with.

Speaker 1 (33:59):
Yeah, see what we did there.

Speaker 3 (34:02):
But yeah, I mean has been great. And look, you've
been talking about kid Cunningham for a couple of years.
You were on the bandwagon.

Speaker 1 (34:08):
I was only three years early on on the Pistons resarcho.
I'm taking that as a win.

Speaker 3 (34:14):
Fortunately, you were able to go and return the paint
that you bought for the Pistons colors and then you
just painted it with the silver and Honolulu blue of
the locks, so you were able to build that and
then people jumped on board this one. Now you've got
to go back to whatever remnants, uh and go and
buy the coats of paint so folks can really join

(34:35):
you in Earnest on this Pistons bandwagon. But you know, Cunningham,
I think finally getting the love that that we've certainly shown.
It's boy, he's gonna be he's gonna be trouble. Starting
to build a base around him and winning games. It's great,
I'll tell you, man, nothing but the Pistons winning. This
is just a fantastic, fantastic story.

Speaker 1 (34:56):
And I mean a man.

Speaker 4 (34:57):
Caused enough trouble in Detroit.

Speaker 1 (34:59):
What do you do?

Speaker 3 (34:59):
Yeah, Frostburg's not wrong. You have and and maybe this
well we got to see if history repeat.

Speaker 4 (35:07):
All these blue collar people out there. What are you doing?

Speaker 1 (35:10):
Hey? What do you mean? Man? I? I I got
the lines of the NFC Championship. I was on the
lines bandwagon. You I would know no that they just
couldn't get it done. I eventually got to make a play. Man.
I can only do so much.

Speaker 4 (35:22):
You tried to give their star running back who is
a vegan? Meat?

Speaker 1 (35:26):
I didn't okay, okay, I didn't try to give him meat.
I simply you mentioned you could have done signed autographs
at a place that that that serves meat. Well, you
try to just get him. That's the contamination. It's not.
It's not like there's suddenly like I gave him e COLI.
Come on, man, that's that whoa whoa that happened that?

(35:49):
It's all good? Uh, it's all good, man. Great. The
best story in the NBA, the Detroit Pistons.

Speaker 5 (35:59):
Me.

Speaker 1 (36:00):
While this late breaking story that came to us about
an hour and a half ago. Look Adam Schefter breaking
news that the night before Look, the combine begins tomorrow
in Indianapolis. We're going to celebrate on the show tomorrow
night with uh Sauce and with well Hot Horse, Radder
Sauce and Shrimp God.

Speaker 3 (36:17):
It worked out, yep.

Speaker 1 (36:19):
Abdul Carter, who could potentially be the number one overall
pick in the draft defensive lineman out of Penn State.
The odds on him have been increasing lately. Well, there
may be an issue with that, as according to Adam Schefter,
test today revealed that Carter's got a stress reaction in
his right foot and he's going to have to decide

(36:40):
soon whether or not to have surgery. Now, the good
news is if he does have surgery, it's about an
eight week time frame until he can be back to normal, right,
So that's good. So you're talking about a guy who's
going to be recovering from surgery and they're not even
gonna be at mini camp yet. So that's a good thing.
It shouldn't affect his draft stock at all. He might
not need the surger, though, I would say if doctors

(37:01):
would tell me I need it, are you looking for
doctors to say you don't need it, like I'd want
to get that taken care of. But still, if this
is where we're at, where hey, potentially he needs it
or maybe he does it, this tells you that this
shouldn't be something that really affects his NFL career, you know.
Now that being said, with everything being equal at number
one overall, it may not, it shouldn't scare anybody away.

(37:25):
But if I'm the Titans, I know that Carter's been
a big sexy name, you know, to come out here.
Hey all of a sudden, Hey look at this guy
defensive line and Penn State. Yeah, I'm still taking Travis
Hunter number one because the guy it can be an
absolute game changer, not just on the field where you're
talking about potentially being a shutdown cornerback, maybe a terrific

(37:47):
wide receiver as well, but he brings you a superstar
out of the draft. Not many guys that aren't quarterbacks
become superstars in the NFL right away. You need to
figure it out. You need to become that shut down
courty to become a guy. But coming off the Heisman
Trophy and winning the Bneric Award, the Beletnikoff Award, Like
he comes in as a guy that's gonna sell jerseys,

(38:08):
get people to buy tickets, easier identity, and for a
team like Tennessee, you don't often get stars like that, right.
They all go to the teams that the big markets
spend a lot of money. It's hard. You got to
homegrow your your your superstars and hope that they stay.
You have a guy walking into you in Travis Hunter
that's gonna give you an identity and a sense of relevance.
And as long as everything is equal and it's not

(38:31):
like you're reaching for I mean, Travis Hunter was talking
about going number one overall for a long time. Now
Carter is the late riser to go number one. You
have two great defensive players, right you could say, Okay,
I can't go wrong with either one. Well, if that's
the case, I'm gonna take the guy that's gonna give
me an identity and give me relevance and give me
something that puts fans in the seats and tells us
this is who we are. So I'm still gonna go

(38:52):
with Travis Hunter number one.

Speaker 3 (38:53):
Yeah, you're saying blank the future like you're hanging out
on Saturday Night fever. Look, I need an attack or
a protector or a thrower APT that is the acronym
that I'm gonna try to push see that or Pat,
but then we try to I think Pat you might
have to go through a lot of legal things.

Speaker 1 (39:12):
Or tap like it's pat attack or protector. I don't
think you'd say it's PAT. I don't think you can
do that that someone owns that.

Speaker 3 (39:19):
And I just need what what's the s uh if
we're gonna do taps?

Speaker 1 (39:23):
Because we do play taps on the show.

Speaker 3 (39:25):
Quick Okay, okay, we got that going fair, So we
got to figure out what that fourth one is.

Speaker 1 (39:30):
But yeah, all things equal.

Speaker 3 (39:32):
First off, I gotta know which which came first, the
you need surgery guy.

Speaker 1 (39:36):
Or that you don't need surgery guy.

Speaker 3 (39:38):
Yeah, that's I'm gonna guess it was the surgery guy first, right,
which is why you sought the second opinion?

Speaker 1 (39:44):
Yeah, what's the order here? Yeah, if you got a
bunch of doctors say I don't think you need surge its,
I don't need surge its. When you see the first
few that say surgery surge, well I gotta find a
guy telling me I don't need it. Hey, I don't
need it. All right, great, I'm gonna have my pro
day and everything's awesome.

Speaker 3 (39:59):
Is the You know, there's always four out of five
dentists where four of them saying surgery, in the fifth says.

Speaker 1 (40:06):
No, I don't know either way.

Speaker 3 (40:07):
We discussed this a bunch on the show tonight.

Speaker 1 (40:10):
Keep going. I'm gonna keep going until I get the
answer I want. I'm gonna keep asking people to like,
get that answer. Now.

Speaker 3 (40:16):
When I can get that answer, I'm gonna say, see,
there's someone who told me I didn't have to Okay,
wouldn't be the first guy to keep fishing for the.

Speaker 1 (40:22):
Alternative exit out about a Fresca exit swallowing down the
Jason Spitzer with Mike Harmon live from the tirec dot
Com Studios. I know you're on the other side of it.
You're taking carter number one.

Speaker 3 (40:34):
Well, I'm taking carter number one is as long as
I can get the one more guy to tell me
he's good. But you know, ill to say, I need
a guy to attack a quarterback off the jump. I'll
sell my tickets and I'll take my two hundred and
fifty million off the top from the broadcast rights all right.

Speaker 1 (40:53):
So Harmon's gonna go talk to doctors now to get
the answer to wats about the sell, sell sell Coming
up next my buddy Ben Mallor This is Fox Sports.
