(00:55):
beat the Pelicans tonight one thirty six, one fifteen and
we'll get to Lebron in a minute. Luka Doncich with
a triple double or near triple double tonight thirty points
and fifteen assists, and this Samarash Markazi apparently Kobe Magic,
Lebron and Jerry West the only Lakers to go thirty

(01:16):
and fifteen in the game. Kobe, Jack, Magic, Lebron and
Jerry West only Lakers to go thirty points and fifteen
assists in a game. It's pretty good. Come it's been
here a month, Hey, pretty good. Look first for the Lakers,
we told you when the Luca trade came in. As
long as Luca gets in shape, it doesn't take too long.

(01:38):
This is going to be a different Laker team than
you've seen. Luca and Lebron will work unlike Lebron and
Ad did. You could see how excited Lebron was. He
looks younger, he's still dominant. He scored his fifty thousandth
point tonight in the game. And the Lakers offense is
going to start putt up one hundred thirty points a game,

(01:58):
one thirty six to I told you they were going
to finish second in the West, and that's where they
are right now. Second in the West. It might be first.
I think it's a little bit too much to try
because Oklahoma City just doesn't play I think twice. Yeah,
that is true. I mean you want to talk about
you want to talk about intrigue though, I mean, I mean,
if we could get to that point, games have juice.

(02:19):
Oklahoma City's got to lose more than one game every
three weeks. When's the next Laker lossy? No, but it
doesn't matter because the Thunder have a ten game lead.
It's a ten game lead, like the Lakers can say, okay,
there is it's very very it's very very low. Okay,
you're talking about twenty games left with it. If the

(02:40):
all all the Thunder have to do is go five
hundred and the Lakers have to win every game. If
the Thunder had Luca, I would say, you're right, but
they don't. It's time for the schedule game. Though. The
Thunder of the thunder of lost eleven and they're not
gonna lose ten in their last twenty. That's not gonna get.
That's all finding good Thursday versus New York, that's a
way Saturday at Boston win on ABC. It doesn't matter

(03:06):
three and forty five hours as you're getting it doesn't
matter at Brooklyn. Yeah no, that's okay. Then you're gonna
play that game. Brooklyn's gonna force at Milwaukee. Doc Rivers
wants no part of that game. Oh not fat Denver.
I could see maybe Denver win's that one Phoenix Suns
at home. They just came back to sting the Clippers. Yeah,

(03:27):
they ended up making up I guess Spurs. No, it's
there there, we get Denver again. Yeah the hell we
don't get Oklahoma City all the way at the end.
So yeah, I mean they get two of them, and
then it's uh, Dallas at Dallas. Who the hell's playing
in that game? Jus kids, Jason Kid's gonna my play.

(03:49):
I'm activating myself, gonna bring back the Big Three. It's
gonna be me, and it's gonna be everybody. Get Jimmy
Jackson back out there, to the Tony Braxton days. Yeah sure, Yeah, points,
twelve rebounds tennis is not gonna be enough. You had me,
had Tony Braxton done. They're gonna They're gonna finish second, right,
They're gonna finish second. But this is gonna be a
boring rest of the regular season for the Lakers because

(04:11):
they're just gonna steamroll teams. And you can see that.
And this is this gives hope to the rest of
the NBA, where if your team seems like there's nothing
we can do, we're just gonna spin our wheels. Are
gonna be this bad or at this level forever. The
Lakers went from where spinning our wheels with Lebron and
a d Lebron looks like he's disinterested and it's not
gonna continue to try to get better. He knows when

(04:32):
he has finals teams and when he doesn't. And then
in one fell swooped in one day, in one trade,
the Lakers turn into title contenders. I mean, they such
an incredible reversal of fortune. I told you, what did
I say? When the trade happen. This is gonna be
a pow gasol to the Lakers effect where right away
the Lakers just clicking. They go on a big run
of what happened. They went like nine out of ten,

(04:53):
They went to three straight finals and they won two
of them. That's the effect that Luca is having on
the Lakers, and that's what he's having right now. It's
gonna be a boring rest of the season. Lakers are
gonna continue to steamroll teams like this. They look good
tonight like they weren't even trying. I mean, this is
a Laker game. But yeah, yeah, we're great. We're just
kind of we're kind of looked like we're in three
quarters moment and we're beating the Pelicans by thirty. Even

(05:14):
Brownie James got in the game and took a couple
of shots tonight ten point game at halftime, and then
it was like, all right, you're ready, let's keep going.
And suddenly it was ugly and that lead ballooned. The
big thing to all of this as we watched the
way the Lakers are playing and marveled at the number
of three point shots that they took early nineteen to

(05:36):
fifty two for the night thirty six and a half percent.
But when you're hitting shots, what happens. You get an
awful lot of passing lanes that are suddenly open, which
allowed Jackson Hayes to feast. We joked about it at halftime.
Go look at his shot chart, eight for eight, all
within about four feet in the basket, which meant he
caught it four feet out, turned and dunked it with

(05:57):
his wingspan. So you go through that. Thirty two assists
as a team on their forty eight makes so getting
the ball and moving the ball and swinging it to
the open man, playing great ball. I mean, there's no
two ways about it. Thirteen and two in their last fifteen.
Those two losses really odd when you look at the

(06:19):
run they've had overall, but you know they're outliers to
all of it. And for the Lakers, the offense motoring,
Lucas obviously motivated, and you see with every made shot.
I don't know that you can keep up the hat
and the emotion to that level for the rest of
the season and through a whole postseason. But I'll be
damned if I don't want to see him try now,

(06:40):
because every make every possession he's trying on defense, that
was New Orleans. So maybe it was, Hey, I got
an opportunity to pick your pocket, but hey, you can
only play and dominate whoever's on the schedule. And today
they beat up on the weaker kid. They were supposed
to look out for Willie and that's all they did.
That's all they did. They tore me why because you

(07:01):
couldn't run very fit, and none of them did. Zion
had the quietest thirty seven points in a game that
you're gonna have except for that one dunk. Oh that
was great, you're down eighteen. They tormented Zion why because
he couldn't run very fat. They pelted him across that
New gut tattoo with with soap, but this game gets

(07:23):
bigger than that for the Lakers this year because, as
I said, we saw ready for a great hot take.
We got out tonight something that we had never seen
before in NBA history. Lebron James hit the fifty thousand
point plateau very fittingly from Luca Donzig.

Speaker 3 (07:42):
Called three.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
Two seasons, forty years of Badens fifty thousand and two points.
Billy mc Lakers TV on the call. It was a
slow start for Lebron and you got through the first quarter.
That was the only Lebron James bucket of the game, right,
that was the only bucket he had. And yeah, when

(08:07):
you have fast forward to one hundred and thirty six,
Lebron finishes with thirty four. I want to say this,
this is Lebron. You heard Billy mack say at the
age of forty and Lebron tonight look thirty four, eight
and six, another near triple double for him. Jump shot
was on too weird they were, And maybe part of

(08:28):
it is Luca and being re energized because he's getting
to play with a guy that he always wanted to
play with. But you can tell it's a different Lebron.
Not that he was suffering, but This is now a
Lebron that's still as good as he is, with a
little bit more of an edge. And I would not
be surprised if he played another five years because he's

(08:51):
not going to be a guy that And this is
what's even more impressive about playing at forty five, is
that he's not going to be a guy that sits
around is a shadow of himself. Right, He's not gonna
do that. He will find a way to continue to
play at this level until he can't do it anymore,
and then he's gonna say, Okay, that's it, I'm slipping
too much. But he is still this dominant at forty.
And again, nobody in the history of sports, in any

(09:14):
sport has been as good at the age of forty
as Lebron James is. Was Tom Brady good at forty, Yeah,
but then he was done at forty one, right, But
he wasn't nearly as good as the way Lebron is now.
Other guys were good at forty. Bartolo Cologne was good
at forty, not Lebron James. Bartolo Clone was good nearly
a fifty. So Lapierre no idea what his true age was.

(09:34):
He might have been sixty Lebron playing at this level
at the age of forty for the last couple of years,
was Yale played one or two more years? He wants
to play with Brony two or three now if he played,
if he's playing in the NBA at forty five and
still scoring twenty a game, or maybe when he gets
to be forty five, he's playing down low and he's
more of a big and he's not running up and

(09:56):
down the floor as much, he's not handling the basketball.
Because we saw him go to center a couple of
years ago and suddenly, wow, this guy could be he
could be all NBA at center. I would say, I
would say yeah. If you ask me, could he be
playing in the NBA at forty five, I would say yes,
one hundred percent. The level he's playing at right now,
and he looks like he's ten years younger. And again,

(10:17):
maybe it is playing with Luca. Maybe it's understanding that
now I have more to play for rather than just
going through the motions where I still look really good.
But this is Luca at twenty five, and the Lakers
are gonna be really good the next five years, So
Lebron's gonna be really invested in the next five years Now,
maybe his stats aren't quite as gaudy. Maybe he's not
twenty eight a game. Maybe he's more twenty four, twenty
five a game. Whatever it's gonna be. Maybe it's more assists,

(10:39):
maybe it's more rebounds. But he's going to slowly take
on just slightly lesser of a role and takeover at
times when he needs to, so we can still see
him as boy. He's still Lebron James. Doesn't he need
to do it every night because you know, here's Luca
with thirty eight, sixteen and twelve. But when he needs
to in the playoffs, in big nationally televised games, big

(11:00):
nights where you can score fifty thousand points, I can
step up and show you I'm Lebron James. I can
pick my spots a lot more than I used to.
But being energized playing at this level, if he's playing
at forty five, I am not surprised at all. I
always talked a lot about the Hey, I'm almost done,
enjoy it while at last, whatever else. But you have
every right to change your mind and certainly reinvigorating you're

(11:23):
watching it on the court, springing his step defensively more active.
And again I'll leave it to those that are doing
all the charting on stuff of how much of their
help by teams pressing to try to match the Lakers
offense right now throwing up some bad shots to help
some of those metrics, but they all count just the same,

(11:43):
And for Lebron, I think it goes. We talked earlier
in the evening and even last night when Kyrie got hurt,
kind of talking about you know, how much extra stress,
et cetera. Not a lot of extra minutes. But you
don't have that other ball handler. You don't get to
take possessions off times. You see Luca where he looks
kind of confused at first, like the first couple of games, Yeah,

(12:04):
I don't have the ball in my hands. What the
hell am I supposed to do? Yeah? I mean you
get used to the I'm not going to steph Curry
and run around a couple of picks and get open. Now,
I'm not going to do that. But then you realize, wait,
that's a minute of rest or twenty four seconds here,
and do that a couple of times in a game
where you get to play the extra couple of minutes
and maybe impact it in different ways because your presence

(12:27):
and your availability on the court versus having to sit
down because you're running, you know, hard offense time and time. Again,
Lebron's getting the benefit of that now right where he
can go out and play wide receiver and you saw
tonight five three point makes and he was five of
eight inside the arc, perfect from the file line. All
of that. Again, it's New Orleans, but it's the largest

(12:49):
of what we've seen from this sample size. Still growing.
They've got a gauntlet coming up. We went through the
schedule watch, but it's the opportunity to maybe re exam
how you go at it. Obviously, for all of us
it becomes the I'll have what he's having in terms
of whatever nutrition. We'd love to be able to have

(13:09):
the million plus or whatever he does to take care
of his body. In the myth that keeps growing. I'll
watch a documentary on that. In the middle of the
night as I try to go to sleep, is like,
how do I do that? What equipment do I need?
Plus genetics of course, but all of that to say, yeah,
I wouldn't be shocked, right, It's all about accepting another
role and if he's willing to do that, and maybe

(13:29):
he learned something from watching Steph when Kevin Durant came in,
Because Kevin Durant never got credit for those. Those are
Stepf's titles, right for Lebron, even Luca coming to Town.
Anybody that wants to do the Lebron argument, here's more
ammunition for the overall impact on the game. Fifty thousand
plus you get to another title run or two, Yeah,

(13:53):
it changes the argument. Don't tell me that's not what
Team Lebron is thinking about as of right now. And
what about my impact? You know, jaj Reddick listens to me, listens,
hates me, right, set it in a press conference. So
you know, I think I should get a lot of
credit for this Lakers run. Hey, JJ, if you're on
your way home, call in and if and if Lebron
gets to place another five years, that's on me too.
You know what. I also think Rob Polinka listens to

(14:17):
the show too, Okay. I think I helped spur akay
all right, and that they were heated conversations behind the
scenes with Lebron, the three of them that led to
fleecing Nico. All right, Hey, well we got a we
got a ring coming from the Rams for the Super Bowl,
for the Dickerson stuff with Jeff Fisher. We'll have a
ring coming from here when the Lakers win again. Okay,

(14:37):
we'll get we take care of the NFL. NBA Dodters

Speaker 1 (17:00):
Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with My best
Friend Mike Harmon livethtire rag dot com Studios. I want
to pour one out for Davante Adams, pour one out out. Yes,
he got out, he got out, He got out, he
got out, but now he he is an ex Jet

(17:21):
as the Jets look to tamp out any remaining remnant
from the Aaron Rodgers era. Oh yeah, if Aaron Rodgers
shook your hand in the last two years, I'm sorry
you're out. Well, your other guy gets to ask for
a trade. Come on, Harry, oh Alan Lazar, Yeah, we
forgot you were on the team. We're allowing you to
go find your own trade. I'm gonna go out of

(17:42):
most people did forget he was all I mean the
Jets want to They want to purge the entire roster
of everything, Rogers, So do you think of everything right now?
Kyrie has any of the sage to spare? No, no, no, no, no, no,
he's got to use that to get at you. I'll betty. Yeah,
that is too soon. So he needs it to get better.
I mean, I can't believe that, man, I can't believe. Yes, Jim,
you did. He might have a little extra. No he doesn't. No,

(18:05):
he's got to use it all. Okay, remember he said
I'm gonna do it every game. Yet no, you're not
gonna do it again. I'm walking around, walking around the
courtse like, what the hell?

Speaker 3 (18:13):
Now?

Speaker 1 (18:13):
Look devont Adams, he had his Jets moment. He did
forever a Jet. Next last week of the season, Jets
are playing the Dolphins. It looks like the Jets are
gonna win. Aaron Rodgers throws a pass to him. All
he has to do is get tackled in bounds, go
down and bounds. The Jets are kicking a field goal there,
beating the Dolphins. But no, no, no, DeVonta Adams doesn't
know what to do and he gets pushed out of bounds,
which stops the clock. So instead of the Jets taking

(18:36):
the clock all the way down, kicking a field goal
with twelve seconds left, no, no, no, the kick a
field goal with forty five seconds left, Miami drives down,
kicks a field goal to tie it, like you knew,
and they go and win it in overtime. Yeah, thirty
two to twenty six. Your final eleven catches one hundred
and nine yards at a score in that great day,
great day and great days in the part of some
great thing. In typical Jets fashion, wouldn't take responsibility for

(18:56):
that play. I remember he said, the offishers is gonna
wait forever to bowl the whistle. Dude, catch the ball
and go down. You know you've been in the game.
You got a taco bell in your house, Come on,
you know you've been a start for a long time. Well,
the extra salt might have affected his reasoning and rationale.
Once he's charge five five of his last six games.
So that's good. Hey, No, And that's the thing is now, Look,

(19:18):
we're getting out of the We're getting We're getting out
of the Aaron Rodgers business.

Speaker 2 (19:22):
Right.

Speaker 1 (19:23):
I like that. We're We're done, we are selling all
we are gutting everything. Sell sell that guy from the
old late night ads like, come on in, man, we
need to make it all go. Here's Devontada. End of
season forty percent off sale. This is what we're doing.
Didn't you tell me you were gonna buy a Rogers
hoodie for like? No, oh, this is not bad. Yeah guy,
I don't chance to go to but fanatics sent me

(19:45):
an email say hey, forty percent off end of the year.
End of the year's sale forty off, sometimes seventy five
percent off clearance. Every single Jets Aaron Rodgers item is
either nine ninety nine or nineteen ninety nine. Hoodies jerseys
get you know, real jerseys, replica jerseys, hoodies, T shirts
nine ninety nine, nineteen ninety nine. It's insane. I mean,

(20:08):
like a real shy. We used to paying any car,
any color for ninety nine ninety five colors wouldn't run
in the rain, don't only cow You're right telling you man.
Everything in New York Jets Nike game jersey nineteen ninety
nine normal. Normally if you use one hundred and thirty
nine dollars now nineteen dollars fuses forty because that was
a limited one it's a good looking one. The Gotham
Green is still eighty four, but that was a three

(20:30):
hundred and fifty dollars yeah, Jersey. Yeah. I'm upset though,
because from it a black one for thirty bucks. Yeah,
I know, from last night to tonight the Rogers Jets
hoodie that I was gonna buy because it was it's
in a lighter color, like ooh, it's nineteen bucks. Now
they raised that to twenty nine bucks. I'm like, come on, man,
you can't just raise it ten bucks in a day.
Come on, you can't do that, man, I mean you can't.

(20:50):
But that's not right. I mean, it's a limited sale.
You gotta make the decision.

Speaker 2 (20:54):
Man.

Speaker 1 (20:54):
Just sent me the email yesterday. Give me twenty four hours. No, yeah,
give me twenty four hours. Man. They're expecting you to
act jets, Jets jets. So how is that going to
get me to buy it? If it goes up ten
more dollars in a day, you know, I'm not gonna
do it. It's still a deal now, it's general principal.
Now I'm not gonna buy it. Yeah, no, I'm not
gonna buy it now. You will be no, not gonna

(21:16):
take it. Take it, take it back down to that
price and I'll get it. Take it back down to
that pen. They might take it back. I'll get it.
But if they got you in right, it's like the
lost Leading Costco Chicken. Once you're in for the chicken,
they're gonna get you for another hundred and fifty bucks
before you get out of it. Jerry, I love the chicken. Jerry,
I love the chicken. Bad chicken. That was Kenny Rodgers.

(21:36):
Mess you up. But here's a deal for you, Rogers
to be uh, to be fair. Yeah. He is one
of the very few players available in free agency that
can take a team from contending status and make them
Super Bowl favorites. He is still bold, terrific, He's yeah,
remember what he wants to play, changing teams in the

(21:56):
middle of last year, eleven games with the Jets, eight
hundred yards, receiving eighty catches, seven touchdowns, he was still fantastic.
And I don't think it's any coincidence that Aaron Rodgers
turnaround came when DeVonta Adams joined the team. Right Hail Mary.
The Jets through to save the season. Now we don't
have any of these players, and we just lost draft picks.
But back to the family thing we talked about last night.

(22:18):
You got to listen to the whole show. Check out
the podcast where if you get shoed that, it's okay, right,
I understand, I understand. So he's still terrific, and there
are teams that are in such of a need of
a number one that he would take them from Hey
we're contenders to we're Super Bowl favorites because he has
at least two really good years left. Now, I'm not

(22:39):
going crazy for DeVonta Adams, he's thirty two. But would
I go two years and forty million? Sure, I'll go
in the bonus. No one wanted to give him. Look,
the reason the Jets let him go is because they say, hey,
we're going to trade him, and they it's like, dude,
no one's going to pay him thirty eight million dollars
next year. Okay, well, well we'll release them and and
and get thirty million dollars back in cap space. Yes,
that's what we're doing. So no one was going to

(22:59):
give him that. But two years and forty million with
basically all of it guaranteed, Yeah, I'm in for that
because Adams is still that good. He is still that good?
Are you ready for the odds from DraftKings earlier this evening? Okay,
Buffalo Bills eighteen to one. Okay, Houston Texans twelve to one.
That's tough, man, I mean, I mean, really weep. We're

(23:22):
gonna keep going. Bringing in said, all right, that's fine, Yeah,
go ahead, and man, maybe he can block two Kansas
City Chiefs eleven to one, Patriots, Steelers Broncos all ten
to one, Rams plus seven fifty forty nine Ers plus
five fifty Chargers plus five fifty and your leader in

(23:46):
the clubhouse the Green Bay Packers at plus one six
five need a wide receiver with good hand, of course,
of course, but it will we play with anybody that
is name car Rogers is twin who's the quarterback here?
Because I see that Jordan Love likes to spray the

(24:06):
ball around and I'm not up for that. I got
Garrett Wilson so mad. He still wants to get traded.
I'm not on the team anymore, so just understand. But
from early reports, he seems to favor the West Coast.
And I'll tell you three teams right away that he
would take from contending status to Super Bowl favorites, right,

(24:27):
first team, He would do that too as a Steelers
one hundred percent. And I'll say this regardless as to
who the Steelers bring in a quarterback, If you bring
to vont Adams onto that team and you get a
big and you get that big weapon, suddenly, whoa, we
get a guy that's the exact opposite of George Pickens.
We don't have to worry about stuff all the time.
Will he and George Pickens fight? That would turn the
Steelers into a super Bowl because they're already a contender.

(24:49):
That would turn them into a favor because of course,
you know whoever the quarter they're gonna find. Devont Adams.
He's exactly what that offense needs. He is also what
the offenses need in La Rams and the Chargers. Okay,
the Rams, especially if you're replacing Cooper Cup, you have
Pookinakoor for the middle of the field, DeVonta Adams to

(25:10):
win those one on one battles, because that's what you
need is that guy to go to in the red zone,
big target. He would be the difference maker for the
Rams and for the Chargers. Same thing. The one thing
they miss, hey, Lad McConkie, is phenomenal. Right, he is.
He is every bit. He's the next Wes Welker, he
is the next great slot receiver in the NFL. He's
one hundred and twenty catch machine waiting to continue on.

(25:33):
But you need somebody outside. It was great that they
got a little bit of a bounce back year from
Quentin Johnson. But it doesn't matter. You put Devont Adams
on that team. You give Justin Herbert another guy to
throw to the next to you. Watch out. That takes
the Chargers in a division where maybe the Chiefs are
coming back to the pack a little bit. The Broncos
are good but not great. This vaults the Chargers, who

(25:54):
are everybody as good as the Broncos last year, up
to a Super Bowl favorite. I mean, these three teams,
these are the team you talk about, are all pretty
good anyway, they're all but these three teams that are hey,
we're ten to eleven win teams and we can go
pretty far in the playoffs depending how things break. No,
suddenly you become a monster. Those three teams. DeVonta Adams
changes their fortunes immensely. Yeah, when we look at Los Angeles,

(26:16):
clearly you got to figure out what happens with Cooper
Cup if there's a renegotiation, stretching out the money or
whatever would happen there if they wanted to retain him.
Otherwise there's a slot to be filled for the Chargers.
You mentioned Johnson. He immediately becomes that much more valuable
if he's not having to be a number one on
the outside, right, I mean, if he's drawing a second

(26:39):
corner and the safety shade over Adam's side, Fortunately, you'll
have to be a dam. He would turn into the
new Mike Williams of the Chargers, where three weeks would
go by and you would go, where is this guy?
And then week four electric he catches one hundred and
fourteen yards to two touchdowns. Where where the hell have
you been? But then I'm quiet for three weeks. He's
like a submarine because quiet qui quiet resurface quai qui

(27:02):
qui quiet resurface QuAIA kwai kuaia kuai qui, which is
great for fantasy owners. Qui qui quite resurface kai kuai qui.
That's him. Well, only if you're in best Ball for
the year, then the points might average out to give
you some sure. Otherwise, did you get hunt for Red
October recommended to you on your streaming services too. Be
careful what you shoot at some things from here. Don't

(27:24):
take kindly to bullets well played or the you idiot
you've killed Oz or you're telling me you lost another
submarine Colonel. All right, there you go. There's my three
favorite line done.

Speaker 2 (27:36):
There you go.

Speaker 1 (27:36):
There there's your trifecta. Yeh, Master Thespy and Jason Smith
get after it with this year. But the Chargers are
going to be the most interesting, right as we see
the next bit of evolution from Jim Harbaugh and what
the offense becomes. Because obviously wants the tough run game.
You've got the the bookends, you've got your You've got
to work on the interior of offensive line, right that

(27:58):
is obviously one of their big needs. But you paid
Justin Herbert a lot of money. I think I want
to see that arm in action a little bit more
down the field. So bringing in Devonte Adams would certainly
allow you to pull the strings out. Look, you realize
you have to take advantage of your best player. You
can't keep calling him your best player. Coming back and
we're gonna run the football with a bunch of guys. Right,

(28:18):
you can't do that because that's you had last year,
and that really hurts you when you thought you could
continue to run the football all year. It's like, dude,
you gotta go get Saquon Barkley got paid today for
a forty million dollars. Hey, a really good running back
is worth a lot.

Speaker 3 (28:31):
Man.

Speaker 1 (28:31):
You can't just run anybody. You can't just run guys.
Your brother had no use for it, saying, yeah, take
these guys, that's fine, all good. They had good spurts though,
I mean dogs had some. But in the end you
got to the playoff and what happened in nine carries
eighteen yards, Like, if you're gonna build your offense like that,
you got you can't just throw anybody out there running
the football. You can't do it. So there you go.
Devanta Adams. He can change those teams another today, the Bills,

(28:55):
all them, Yes, absolutely, But he takes those three teams
and elevates another jet. Now good now, good Uh, time
out to find out what's trending in the wide world
of sports. But guy has been called the Jim Harbaugh
Fox Sports Radio. Every time you see him, he's in
khakis it's team to say, and we have identical contracts.

(29:17):
By the way.

Speaker 3 (29:17):
Also quote from Red October Sam Neil, remember I we.

Speaker 1 (29:20):
Live in Montana.

Speaker 3 (29:21):
Oh yeah, yeah, yea yeah, Raiz Rabbits, Yeah yeah yeah yeah.
In while we were talking NFL. Yes, the Jets cut
wide receiver DeVante Adams. They could release wide receiver Alan Lazard.
In the next week, the Eagles gave running back Saquon
Barkley a two year extension where thirty six million dollars
guaranteed plus incentives. Green Bay resigned kicker Brandon McManus. New

(29:42):
Orleans cut running back Jamal Williams. The Bears acquired guard
Jonah Jackson from the Rams for a sixth rounder. Dallas
News Cowboys agreed to a four year deal with defensive
tackle Osi Diggi Zua. The league's franchise tag Windo ended
this afternoon. Minnesota did not tag quarterback Sam Darnold. Pallas
restructured the deal of wide receiver CD Lamb. Cowboys guard

(30:04):
Zach Martin officially retires on Wednesday, March twelfth, will be
the first day of the new league year. That's when
all the recent trades and signings reported can become official.
And this year's Hard Knock Show will not feature North Carolina.
After all, no deal was reached. The Dodgers, in an
exhibition defeated the Reds four to two tonight. Mookie Betts
a solo homer, Roki Sasaki in relief for LA. Three

(30:25):
scoreless innings, five strikeouts. Is fastball averaged ninety eight miles
an hour?

Speaker 1 (30:30):
Is that good?

Speaker 3 (30:30):
That is good?

Speaker 1 (30:31):
Actually?

Speaker 3 (30:32):
And higher speeds on the fastball than what we'd seen
earlier or last year in Japan for that matter. Chris Sale,
the nl CY Young Winner last year, with four strikeouts
through four scoreless innings in Atlanta's zero zero tie at
spring training against Minnesota. The Yankees beat the Phillies and
Zach Wheeler twelve to three. Wheeler, who took the l
in two plus innings, allowed five earned runs eight hits.

(30:54):
Yankees were up ten to one in the third. Tiger's
pitcher Kentamaieta struck out five and three and two. Third
Detroit lost four to one to Tampa Bay. For what
it's worth for Texas, Adulas Garcia was scratched with an
oblique injury. The A's beat the Rangers sixty three. Jock
Peterson homer for Texas, and the Cubs won sixteen to
one over the Padres, winning pitcher shote Emi Naga four

(31:15):
scoreless innings. The Cubs and Dodgers opened the regular season
in Tokyo this month. It's looking like Yamamoto of La
against Imenaga of the Cubs in the game on Fox TV,
and then the second game of the series will be
on FS one. That's March eighteenth and nineteenth. In the
NBA's late game, the Lakers won their seventh in a row,
beating New Orleans one thirty six to one fifteen Lukadancic

(31:38):
thirty points, fifteen assists. Phoenix was down to the Clippers
ninety one sixty nine late in the third quarter, but
beat them one nineteen one seventeen as the Clips missed
a tip at the buzzer. Cleveland won it's eleventh straight
a win at Chicago. Golden State won at New York
Karl Anthony Townsend the Knicks out for personal reasons, and
Toronto on a last second three pointer one by one

(32:01):
at Orlando Mavericks Gard. Kyrie Irving is out for the
year with the torn ACL Jaron Jackson at the Grizzlies
has a grade two ankle spring. In college hoops, Number
one Auburn was beaten at number twenty two Texas A
and M eighty three seventy two. Number ten Iowa State
lost in double overtime at home to b YU eighty
eight eighty five Texas won at overtime at Mississippi State.

(32:21):
Arizona has beaten Arizona State among the ten NHL games.
Dallas got a goal with under five seconds left to
beat New Jersey four to three, Tampa Bay six to
two over Columbus Well.

Speaker 1 (32:33):
Anaheim won six to two at Edmonton. Back to you,
Thank you, Steve. You know, eventually all these teams are
going to lose, and Saint John's is going to end
the season at number one, and then I can't pick
him to win the turn. Then you have to trend
dictum to lose in this. You know, before the Sweet sixteen.

Speaker 3 (32:46):
We've only got this last weekend of the regular season
coming the way.

Speaker 1 (32:50):
And the tournament said all that. I'm telling you, Shant
John's only has to get four more spots, Steve, that's all.
I got four more spots in the wee half.

Speaker 3 (32:56):
Weren't they number six this week?

Speaker 2 (32:58):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (32:58):
But well they'll jump ahead pro the Hauburn losing, They'll
jump ahead.

Speaker 3 (33:01):
So there you go. So you were already counting your chickens.

Speaker 1 (33:04):
Sure, Patino in that suit absolutely hundred percent.

Speaker 3 (33:07):
With the amount of chicken, by the way, after Rob
Parker goes through it in that studio, not surprising.

Speaker 1 (33:14):
Jason Smith Mike Harmon live from the Fire Ract, the

football that seems sad, but it actually is going to
turn out better than you expect. WHOA, that's next right here.

ever again. Wherever you get your podcast from just Search
Jason Smith and Mike Harmon. It goes up in about

(34:01):
fifteen minutes. All the big content we've had tonight, NFL, NBA,
and more. It will be there. Now, this is a
bad story, but it's going to turn out to be
a good story. A bad people who want to listen,
as we know JJ Reddick listens to the show and
listen to Yeah he robbed Polinka and everybody else all
sorts of their production people. But we saw today something

(34:23):
that is a little sad because it would have been great.
But North Carolina and Bill Belichick no longer on HBO's
Hard Knocks. Yeah, right now, that's tough blow to us all.
Apparently they couldn't come to terms on the creative control
that Belichick wanted, so the project doesn't go forward, which

(34:45):
stinks because it would be a a great way to
rebrand Hard Knocks because we've seen the Hard Knocks a lot,
and we would see something new. We would get a
D one program. We would get a look into what
it's like for NIL. Look what it's like for a
transfer portal. You would see what a big time D
one pro. We haven't seen that yet, right, Okay, we've

(35:06):
seen the NFL, but what does a modern Division one
and a college football program look like? All the changes
the last few years. Hey, that's interesting. Especially Belichick, and
we would get his girlfriend. I'm sure, no question about it.
She was going to be a star. That would be great. Yeah,
But now it didn't happen. Now, maybe the NFL put
their thumb on the scale a little bit. Maybe they didn't. However,

(35:29):
it doesn't matter because this, in the words of her Brooks,
great moments are born from great opportunity. And I'm doing
the Kurt Russell accent from Miracle, but not tonight. Tonight
we skape with him. Hard Knocks has a real big
damaged reputation throughout the NFL teams, right, and for once,

(35:50):
it's not the in season Hard Knocks, it's the off
season one. Because what happened. It went so bad for
the Giants because all they did was have guys on camera,
whether it was Shane or Dable crying the entire time,
Amar whoever, crying the entire time about we can't lose.
If Saquon goes to the Eagles, I'll be really mad
Saquon Barkley goes to the Eagles and he runs for

(36:11):
two thousand yards and wins the Super Bowl. Right, They
keep going back to that bit of Mars saying, I'll
be very unhappy. It was about him and Daniel Jones.
Do we replace Daniel Jones?

Speaker 3 (36:19):
Do we not know?

Speaker 1 (36:20):
We love Daniel Jones? What happened? They wave Daniel Jones
six games into the season. Right, it couldn't have gone
worse And right now, Hard Knocks is nuclear for the NFL.
NFL teams out. We don't want any part of this,
especially the offseason. No, no, we saw what happened to
the Giants. Maybe in the future, but we're not gonna
do it. So if your Hard Knocks, what do you do?
You understand that? Boy, there really is a market out

(36:42):
there for college football. So these are the three schools
I call in order, in order because they would be
big hits. Number one Colorado? Well, sure is that obvious, Dion?
Show everybody what your program is like, because if a
school's not afraid, then it would be a big recruitment tool.
And Dion, are you really gonna not do it? I

(37:04):
have nothing to hide. I do everything the right way, right,
I'll show show you, Dion on Hard Knocks. My goodness,
this would be the highest rated show we've seen. We
would talk about this like we talked about the Bulls
last Dance During the pandemic. It would all of a sudden,
take all the auction in the room and say, this
is what we're talking about. Look at what Dion did.
Look at what this Colorado here's just replacing Shador Sanders,

(37:26):
replacing Travis Hunter. How are they doing this? How is
Deon coaching? What about his other coaches? It would be
that every week that aired, it would be let's break
it down, Let's break down what we've seen. It would
be that interesting. That's that's Colorado's my first phone call.
Dion's an interesting and polarizing guy, and no doubt he'd
he'd play along for the cameras and certainly replacing Chador

(37:46):
as the subtitle, replacing Shador. Uh so let's just say,
says Colorado. Number one. First phone call, I call Colorado
morrow morning. Yeah. Number two phone call, I call Texas
because I want to see Arch Manning. Well, we get
the man everything lean up right, we get all the Mannings,

(38:08):
we get art becomes like the Osbourne Show all those
times we got all the Mannings running around. Yes, Cooper,
Wait we lost Cooper. He was like, uh, you know
our buddy Chuck from the uh when happy When the
season starts, Arch Manning. Everything he does is going to
be front and center in college football, so the lead

(38:29):
up to it is going to be terrific as well.
Texas is on the rise, coming off the big year
last year, the College Football Playoff. But arch Manning will
he will have all the oxygen in the room right
about Dion, He'll have to share and suddenly, wait, well,
arch Manning just threw for five touchdowns opening week. You
got that. Texas is the second phone call, and I
am change change, Yeah, my third phone call, third one

(38:52):
USC because the Lincoln Riley soap opera, this tells me
I can I get a little bit out of what
the Giants would be like if we did it for
college football because Riley is hugely on the chopping block.
They gave him a lot of money, they have it's
been gotten worse every year. There is so much pressure
on him to win, and it's not about the players more.

(39:14):
It's about Lincoln Riley and the royalty that has been
USC and college football for the last twenty years. So
this would be more like the Giants situation, where hey,
it's really really interesting. That's why USC is my third
phone call. Colorado first, Texas, second, USC, third, the first two.
I can work with the USC. I mean, you might

(39:34):
as well just fire Lincoln Riley then, because he doesn't
want to talk to student reporters, let alone some people
that are going to be around the program asking questions
or trying to get insights. He's an ornery guy. He's
not very giving in that way. Even if you have
a bunch of alums that would be more than happy
to be part of things. I don't see that one.
I'd keep it at North Carolina and then we privately

(39:57):
funded at the husband. Yeah, I look, NFL Films wants
nothing to do with Bill Belichick. Is that's there at
the end of it, right, Okay, So this is Roger
Goodell and the NFL owners flipping Bill Belichick off to
a degree. So you get folks from the Hustman School,
and you've got Jason Kallar, who was a CEO at
at Hulu, he was at WarnerMedia. Get him involved with

(40:19):
some of his friends in the business, and we can
get some money behind it privately funded, and then Bill
Belichick can have final cut. Okay, but you get what
you need out of the process, and you cut out
the middleman. I see the phone call you call North
kind of like, go, yeah, but we can't. They have
the rights to hard knocks. No, no, no, we're gonna
do it and call it hard blocks. That's right. I

(40:41):
bet you they didn't trade Mark day. I like what
you're saying, hard blocks, hard docs. Yeah, that's what we're
gonna I'm not gonna say you think I'm gonna say no,
but hard blocks that works right, hard yeah blocks, blocks,
bloc ks, bl oc ks, hard socks. We're gonna do

(41:01):
hert socks well, I mean the tales of the Boston
Red Sox. Sure. Up next, my buddy Ben Mallard. This
as fall
