elbow and knee pads. It's Arnie Spaniard Rocks legend.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
We got a little snow here today, so which could
well get to shovel or what? Yeah, she does the shoveling.
And then it was good timing because I was gonna
send her out to pick up all the poop in
the backyard. Now, we didn't pick up before the snow came,
but now that there's snow, we don't know where it is,
so we don't have to pick it up now for
a while.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
That might be the laziest thing I've ever heard.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
Kid, I don't know where it is.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
I have a neighbor and this is great. Right, So
he's got the cornerhouse heading towards a main thoroughfare. But
you got a lot of dog walkers in the neighborhood
during the day and all that stuff. Right, But what
he does is when folks leave a deposit and do
not extract it, he just goes and puts a flag
in his yard. So he's got little red flags all over.

(01:59):
It's the most ass and I think he's a gem.
We have a great, great conversations walking through uh Man,
with great opinions. Very interested in keen Lee. He's not
a huge sports guy, but always asks what I'm up to.
I said I was talking with you tonight and kind
of explained our back and forth. He's like, oh, that
sounds like a fun Friday. Might you have no idea?

(02:20):
As we flow through. But yeah, so there you go.
It'll be waiting for you, by the way, I mean,
because it ain't going anywhere.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
It's not going. Well, that's why I'll have my off
to use a shovel and.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
Kind of just getting in a snowball fight back.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
Oh no, that's for sure.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
Or maybe you want to I don't know, maybe you
go full will Ferrell elf and start pretty bad fire
against the neighbors. But if it's that bad, that means
then you've truly been lazy for a long time.

Speaker 4 (02:47):
It's been I don't subscribe to sloth. We'll get your
ass moving.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
Do you know what the lot is out there? You
want to go out there when it's negative thirty degrees
with the wind chill factor, you send the dog out.

Speaker 4 (02:57):
I don't want to set the dog out.

Speaker 3 (02:59):
Yeah, well you had to go to the bathroom. What
do you want me to do about that?

Speaker 4 (03:02):
You could have helped the guy out.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
Come on, you got my You know, time has come
to clean up your own backyard.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
As they said, it will be frozen by the time
I pick it up. Will make it a lot easier.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
Right, It'll be waiting for you. And that's enough of
the h that talk. Because let's go to another pile
of mess from last night, Lakers with the win over
the next We talked about Brunson a little earlier. If
you missed it, haven't seen the reports, Sham Sharani is
saying that Brunson expected to miss at least two weeks
with the ankle sprain. And then you've got various reports

(03:37):
that say maybe the end of the regular season, the
final twenty games that it'll sit. Maybe it's a reevaluation
in two weeks, but either way, NIXT playing the Clippers tonight,
second night of a back to back without Brunson as
they flow through. Clippers one of your more interesting teams
because on a night to night basis, you don't know
what you're gonna get. It's the old Forrest Gump Bock chocolates.

(04:01):
The other night you got fifty from James Harden in
a throwback end of one, Clippers up thirty one, twenty five.
We'll keep an eye on the late games as we go,
Sacramento and San Antonio, Denver and Phoenix, Phoenix, the last
vestiges of whatever that is for Budenholzer.

Speaker 4 (04:18):
But story of the night, and it swelled.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
Into this morning, was Lebron, James Big Night, he and
Luka doncits. Lebron did a good job postgame, just saying
I'm out here. You talked to lucas he walked past
Taylor Rooks and went straight to the locker room. Luca
gets to do the postgame interview, and part of that
was clearly the avoid dance, which is an old Hank

(04:41):
Hill King of the Hill reference.

Speaker 4 (04:42):
Look it up.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
The avoid dance of a question related to a confrontation, altercation, conversation,
whatever term you want to use, escalated with one. Stephen A. Smith,
he of the five year, one hundred million dollars deal,
reported congratulations to him him, lift all boats, bring us along.

(05:04):
I have my hat out as I shake a can
and the other one and try to show some acumen
here on the radio alongside you, mister stink and genius.
I gotta pay for car repairs, so I got to
do it somehow. So as we look at that, this
happens in the middle of a huddle, he gets up
and walks over and confronts steven A. Who's there with

(05:26):
agency people? You got Larry David. Celebrities were everywhere, like
I think, literally the old if you threw a rock,
you would have hit somebody at least a b lister
in the first six to seven rows. I mean it
was everybody. I don't even think they all got their
proper time and acknowledgment with the lower thirds of in
chirod of hey, you remember this actor for whatever show,
movie series, and all those other things. But all of

(05:49):
that comes down to read my lips and let's break
it down. The supruder tape of Lebron accosting stephen A
about words and all his explanations of what he's done
with Bronnie James getting him into the league. Bronnie James
is a player and Lebron and then trying to figure

(06:10):
out where this invisible line in the sand is right.
So all of that starts to swell laid into the night,
early into the morning, and then stephen A goes and
he might as well has had the violenced violins behind
this TV show.

Speaker 4 (06:26):
Oh we have some steven A. Oh let's hear this. Yeah,
we do have that somber stephen.

Speaker 5 (06:30):
A confronting me that was a parent, that was a
fall And I can't sit here and be angry or
feel slighted by Lebron James in any way in that regard.
By all accounts, he's obviously a wonderful family man and
a wonderful father kids very very deeply about his son,
and based on some of the comments that he had heard,

(06:52):
or shall I say, I think he thought he heard,
he clearly took exception to some of the things that
he heard me say, and he confronted me about it.

Speaker 2 (07:06):
Alex hit my music. Oh no, he went full wwe
Russell Madia fight. No, no, there it is. It's all
dependent on mood in this particular case. I want to

(07:26):
know why there wasn't the recorded disclaimer at the end
of that Arnie and alex Ian the idea of this
message paid for by the committee to elect Stephen Stephen A.
Smith to the presidency or whatever office he choose to go.
That was the most pathetic thing I've ever heard. Yeah,

(07:48):
that was just so sad and pathetic. Look, Lebron did
this in public? Why because he wanted to be performative.
You tell me you can't get a phone call, a
text back and forth. This has been just stating for
months now. You gotta wait till this No, no, no,
this is all perpetrated, is it? Part of a reality show.

Speaker 4 (08:08):
It's a joke.

Speaker 3 (08:09):
But well, first of all, a couple of things on this.
I was surprised that we didn't hear the news coming
out on Twitter right when it happened in real time.
It happened right before the start of the fourth quarter,
and really it didn't come out until after the game.
So I was.

Speaker 4 (08:23):
I was surprised about The game was pretty good, buddy, It.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
Was a great game. It was unbelievable too. I was
surprised that Lebron, who was sitting on his chair in
between quarters getting ready for the fourth decided that he
was gonna get up, go away from what the coach
was saying, go away from his teammates, to walk down
the aisle there, and to confront Stephen A. Smith at
that point, why at that point? Why not after the game?

(08:50):
Why not before you went to the locker room? So
I was. I was surprised about that. As to what
he said about keep you know, Bronnie out out of
your mouth, I know where he's coming from, I really do.
Stephen A. Smith is kind of right when he said
he was speaking as a parent, not as Lebron James. Still,
Lebron shouldn't have done that. But I get where he's

(09:12):
coming from. I hate bullies, and you know, I know
what Lebron wanted, and obviously he wanted to play with
his son. I wish I could have done more from
my son when it came to play in hockey. I
wish I could have pull striggers to get him in
the NHL. I know you have kids that play sports.
You wish you could have done more. So I understand

(09:33):
what Lebron's doing. He just went about it the wrong way.
I like Lebron. He's done nothing wrong to apologize. He's
really been exemplary for the most part, for the most
part in carrying the NBA. So I do think we're
too hard on him. But in this situation, he probably
should have said I want to speak to Stephen A. Smith,

(09:54):
gotten the phone number, tweeted him, text him whatever, and
done it that way instead of approaching him in between
the third and the fourth quarter of an NBA game.
I think that's crazy.

Speaker 2 (10:06):
Now, all all I'm told, I mean, I go to
the world of movies. We we leave no pop culture
reference and stone unturned. It's the old with great power
comes great responsibility.

Speaker 4 (10:18):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
You know a guy that claims he didn't want to
be the face of the league, and it's been well
chronicled everything he's done through the years.

Speaker 4 (10:25):
I mean, the guy walks.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
Around and puts a crown on his head, come on,
calls himself the king for crying out loud. So I
don't don't try to sell me that one.

Speaker 3 (10:34):
I at.

Speaker 4 (10:37):
You just figure no, no, no.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
But but the point is when people poke back, and
in this particular case, look, and it's what I've called
out our industry for, right when when people get really
mad about the bron Brownie thing, is how many of
you have gotten a friend, a friend's kid, a former coworker,
a job, gotten him in a door where maybe they
didn't belong, they maybe had no resume he speak of,

(11:02):
to get that first crack, and then they've got to
maybe prove it and maybe they get to hang around
before for a while before folks figure out that they
can't make it. But in this case, you had a
mid fifties pick and because of the name, he's worth money,
so he gets the the eight million dollar contract.

Speaker 3 (11:18):
Ya.

Speaker 2 (11:18):
I don't begrudge it. I'm just saying that with that
is gonna come a bunch of mess right from steven A.
From other people in our business, I'll certainly throw my
hand into the mix. Look in the end, I don't care, right,
you got got him in the door. If it's people,
I mean, really recognize what you look the old reap,

(11:41):
what you show. You brought it in right, and stephen A,
a lot of his points have just been look what
you've done and the heat Brownie takes for you bringing
him to the league. Now, is that questioning parenting or
a different choice?

Speaker 4 (11:54):
Right?

Speaker 2 (11:55):
I don't know that it's like bad parenting is what
steven A is necessarily saying, because I've seen that characterized
on in print over the course of the day. I
think it's just a look, he's gonna end up taking
a bunch of hits for folks that might just have
an issue with you and the power plays and you've
pulled in your entire career, which he's done repeatedly, and

(12:16):
that cannot be denied.

Speaker 4 (12:17):
But but if I had the cloud, i'd do it too.

Speaker 3 (12:20):
Do you think that Bronni may have said to his dad,
you got to back off, you gotta.

Speaker 2 (12:25):
I think Ronny needs to say that publicly himself.

Speaker 3 (12:28):
Yeah, you gotta let me fight my own battle, yes,
and I had to learn that the hard way with
my son, who said that you got to back off.
I got to fight my own battles on this because
there was one coach that really did something very unethical,
and I was going to lose it, and I was
going to go on the radio and call this guy out,

(12:49):
even though nobody cares about college hockey.

Speaker 2 (12:51):
Well, well, no, no, no, now it's an unethical thing. We
need to continue with this. We need to we need
to hear that shorts up.

Speaker 3 (12:57):
Okay, well, I'm not gonna use names, but I my
son was playing one year of college hockey, and we
played four years, but he was one year in and
I knew of a guy who has taking over another program.
So I called up the coach, the assistant coach I
got ahold of, and I asked him about my son transferring.
When I got off the phone with him, what do

(13:18):
you think he did? He called my kid's head coach
and said, why is your goalie trying to transfer behind
your back? And I'm like, that's not ethical. You're not
supposed to do that. I mean, now, there's portals and
all that, but in college hockey, I go, you're kidding me.

(13:38):
You went ahead and you'd call a coach when a
kid really only wants to better himself and it was
actually for a better school and a better education. And
I was furious. I mean, Mike, I was furious. I
wanted to get this guy, and to this day I
never forgot about it, and I wanted to expose him
and say, you don't do something like that to a

(13:59):
cad and especially he was playing AHA hockey, not even
NC double A, and he really got me going to
my son, just said, you can. You gotta let me
fight my own battles. And that'd be the same thing
with Bronnie. Bronnie has to say the same thing to
his dad, Dad, you gotta let me fight my own battles.
I'll deal with this. If I feel like Steven A.
Smith crossed the line, I'll talk to Steven A. Smith.

(14:22):
You don't have to fight my battles. And it's tough.
You want to do you really want to help your kid.
I know where Lebron's coming from. I wish I could
have done more, you know. I hear LeVar Arrington talking
about his kid and going to Penn State and plaquesago
and his kid being recruited, and I'm like, man, I
wish I had that pedigree to have helped my kid
when the time was needed. So I understand what Lebron

(14:45):
was coming from. But you got to back off and
let the kids fight their own battle.

Speaker 2 (14:49):
Yeah, I do full disclosure for those new to the show,
brought in by the promise of craziness from Arnie Spanier
that I have a girl that plays soccer. She's actually
down playing int games in Florida right now at a
big showcase kind of thing, all sorts of college scouts
or whatever. Oh yeah, I'll send you the video one
nothing Wind And you want to help her order that

(15:11):
she scored? Why you don't you want to let me
just this, She very emphatically said, this is a business trip.
I just want to concentrate on playing my game good
enough for you. Uh So, I'm not there and I'm
here talking to you.

Speaker 3 (15:26):
But if you had, but if you had the the
power that Lebron James had, sure if you're if you were,
you know, things are wet.

Speaker 4 (15:36):
I don't know. I don't know.

Speaker 2 (15:40):
That's got a lot of cloud for you.

Speaker 4 (15:42):
Right.

Speaker 3 (15:42):
He's not even alive anymore, is he.

Speaker 4 (15:44):
I don't even know, well that's there, you go. I
tried to dance around. No, actually he's is he still No,
he's I don't know.

Speaker 3 (15:52):
But with us, if you were a big soccer star,
you know, you'd want to do more for your kid,
just like Lebron's doing for his kid.

Speaker 4 (15:59):
But you man, that's just it.

Speaker 2 (16:02):
You pick your spots in this particular case. And again
with that surname, you've made a billion dollars, You're probably
gonna be part of an ownership group. Maybe is in
the next couple of years in Las Vegas. Right, we've
all seen the whispers when you talk about what the
Dallas situation is now, Mark Cuban's circle like a vulture,
all of those things I not on my watch. But

(16:24):
all of that to say that it comes with a
lot of people acid tongues. Look, their motives may not
be necessarily pure. You may not like what's gonna be said,
but not everybody is on your payroll. I'm not part
of clutch Sports. I'm gonna say what's on my mind. Right,
I thought on both sides this was pathetic. Right, do
it behind closed door? Yes, you want to be men

(16:45):
about it, you know, Yeah, they should talk face to
face and then talk face to face. Don't make it
a made for TV event where none, neither of you
is gonna do anything but a little bit of barking
and head nodding. And then Steven A this thing today.
Come on, man, that's how you got your one hundred
million dollars and now your tails tucked between your leg
because Lebron said so, because the NBA and the NBA

(17:07):
told you to stop.

Speaker 3 (17:08):
Do they see this on Twitter? Are they watching Steven A?
Are they listening to Sports Radio twenty four to seven?
Is somebody listening for them and saying, You're not gonna
believe what this idiot said on Fox Sports Radio. I'm
wondering how did they get all their information? Like Kevin Durant,
he seems very sensitive just about everything everybody says out there.

Speaker 2 (17:29):
Yeah, but he's a white Sox fan, so I give
him a pass. He's already spanned. You're in for Jason Smith.

of huge storylines.

Speaker 3 (19:40):
It's come on after football too. It's actually good during
during football season.

Speaker 2 (19:46):
A lot of times you guys are starting right as
things are winding down on Sunday night football and your
bocking sure one team or the other, or maybe the
league as a whole at that point, but either way.

Something tells me Shay our associate producer, and Ian our

(20:29):
executive producer, tonight might do something with that little Lebron
discussion that we just had here with Ian steven A.
Smith again evangelized. Lover hate is what we're looking for.
The worst thing for me is indifference, you know.

Speaker 3 (20:44):
Because I just say, I just read one more quick
thing I've read now that a lot of people are saying,
or at least maybe Draymond Green is saying that a
lot of players will not talk to Draymond Green anymore.
And Lebron's not talking to Draymond Green anymore because of
what he says about Bronnie on his podcast. So I
guess a lot of the players have turned against them.

Speaker 2 (21:02):
Well, I mean that's the thing, right, And then you
had who was it sitting courtside at one point? Was
it Jalen Brown? That you know, you know, this guy's
not a player.

Speaker 3 (21:13):
The summer League game or something like.

Speaker 2 (21:14):
That Summer League games. So so guys, guys have made
their opinions.

Speaker 3 (21:18):
Know did you see Lebron? Lebron barely even said hello
to him? What he was like hugging everybody else in
the locker room.

Speaker 2 (21:24):
He got his little handshake and then you go and
everybody else got the full hugs.

Speaker 3 (21:27):
And exactly exactly.

Speaker 2 (21:29):
But aren't he again it goes back to in in
our business, how many people have been on the payroll
right and made careers following him around or being the
next I mean, look at Windhors actually said some anti Lebron.

Speaker 4 (21:42):
Stuff the other day. It was like shocking, is he
an odd man out? Did the contract run out? What
are we doing?

Speaker 3 (21:48):
So he life on Lebron James, There's no doubt about that.

Speaker 2 (21:51):
You know, it's like a heel turn like John Cena
had an elimination chamber, you know.

Speaker 4 (21:56):
The last week, but all of that had to say, look.

Speaker 2 (21:59):
I get it, it's the straw that stirs the drink,
and you don't upset Happy fun Ball old Saturday Night
Live reference, just the idea of this is what makes
the league money. And right now they're trading on the
renaissance of some of these older players, right and looking
ahead to the offseason, what's going to be one of
the storylines. Where does Kevin duranco We talk about Steph Curry,

(22:20):
how much can he and a mid thirties Jimmy Butler
Carrey things. Michael Thompson on local radio here in La
saying that he's thought his son was going to go
to Dallas and be part of a championship team and
now he's standing around looking like Will Smith at the
end of the Fresh Prince when they've emptied out the
house because there's nobody left to play with.

Speaker 3 (22:39):
So you want to talk about bogus accounts? What about
what Draymond Green? And then no offense. But our buddy
christ Bassard repeated about Karl Anthony Towns. How about that story?
Well that was crazy.

Speaker 2 (22:52):
But that's the thing, right is some of what Draymond said,
I would say, probably came from an opinion cat around
the league? Have we have we not heard, you know,
opinions of folks talking about.

Speaker 4 (23:05):
But I think he was No, no, no, I get it,
I get it.

Speaker 2 (23:07):
But if he doesn't know about the specific incident and
in this case, uh, there was a death of someone
close to he and his girlfriend, right that precluded him playing, right,
But why would.

Speaker 3 (23:20):
You think it was anything else? Anyway? Michael would if
you would have if could you imagine if Draymond Green
had the real truth and Karl Anthony Town didn't want
to play because Jimmy Butler was going to be in
the game. Oh my goodness, what do you think the
entire sports world would be saying about a cat right now?
It'd be a ross. They'd be destroying him, and I

(23:42):
would be leading the way. It would be crazy if
that was true. And of course it wasn't true.

Speaker 2 (23:46):
Well, but that's the thing, right, because you know his
girlfriend lost a close friend to.

Speaker 3 (23:53):
Camp breast cancer.

Speaker 4 (23:54):
Right, And if you didn't.

Speaker 2 (23:56):
Know that, uh, And this is where it comes down
to journalism, and a lot of times in our hot
take nonsense, I always call it the lower case journalism.
Once you get behind and you start spewing as an
opinionist because a lot of times now it's all right,
how much can I amplify what might have been a
decent basis for an argument? But now we're we're going

(24:17):
hyperbole because we need clicks and views and building personalities, right,
And you can pick out any number of guys well,
but that But that's the thing though, for Draymond Green,
a guy in the league. If the reputation for cat
and I and I don't mean to breathe air into it,
but just since you brought it up, let's let's do it.

(24:38):
If the reputation around the league is that he's a
guy that backs off a bit against more tough nosed,
hard nosed.

Speaker 4 (24:46):
That's fine. Well no, but that's but that's really kind
of what he said. Unfortunately, sure that he ducked him.

Speaker 3 (24:53):
Yes, that he missed the game entirely because he's afraid
the gains. He's afraid the playgains. Jimmy Butler.

Speaker 2 (24:59):
But but it's but it's hyperbole, and it's Draymond Green.

Speaker 3 (25:04):
Yes, it was Ramon Green.

Speaker 4 (25:05):
It's Draymond Green. Cite the source. This guy's just this shy.

Speaker 2 (25:09):
He might as well, be painting his hair and beat
Dennis Rodman in the nWo.

Speaker 4 (25:14):
It's the same die.

Speaker 2 (25:15):
It is that so when he says something like in
its vacuum without the knowledge of what actually transpired in
the real world, which is a terrible tragedy for for
Cat and his girlfriend and their friends and families and everything.
If in the NBA circles, that's the reputation. And that's
where Draymond was going a heel turn and just kind

(25:38):
of calling out a guy that you know whatever, and
how he plays against guys of Butler's defensive intensity is
jawing whatever the case is, in a vacuum. I don't
think that's bad, right, It's just kind of like you
poke the bear. Unfortunately, you have a real life tragedy
that gets tied.

Speaker 3 (25:55):
To it, right. And that's and he didn't even really
offer a sincere apology about it. He just well, the
Draymond Green Show's gotta move on the podcast, so you know,
we'll just move on. But he he had no, uh,
you know, no problem bringing up that type of rumor,
which is crazy.

Speaker 4 (26:11):
Well, and that's and that's the thing that come to remorse.

Speaker 2 (26:13):
And we were talking about the game yesterday, and it's
like I looked at Smith, I go, what what is
this like? Because at the time, like I didn't know
all of the the data behind it. Right, it was
just something that popped up in the timeline. And look,
the algorithm does what it does. So sometimes you don't
get the full back story of what may have precipitated
an absence. Uh, in the moment, we just see now

(26:36):
fun he dealt with it. He was dealing with a
family emergency. But we didn't know at least I didn't
know the particular details at the moment. And look, I
give guys grace. It's an eighty two game season. You
take off now in and again in the in the
offhand culture of the the NBA and players, you know,
kind of ribbing on each other. It's a nothing, but

(26:58):
it has a very seriou his backstory to it.

Speaker 3 (27:01):
Oh, it does. And you know what, if I'm Karl
Anthony Towns, I don't think that I wouldn't have tweeted
or called Draymond Green by now so well, oh.

Speaker 2 (27:09):
I'm sure or you'll have a confrontation and the next
time they see each other. I'd like to thank Draymond's
man enough to go and talk to him face to face.

Speaker 4 (27:20):
We'll see not before I give.

Speaker 3 (27:21):
You a backscreen. That's gonna rock your world, my friend,
that's for sure.

Speaker 2 (27:25):
Well, there there's a whole other parts we get on
the court again owing to the rodmanesque comparison in some
ways shape and form. Look back to the NFL, we
saw the big trade. Gino Smith goes to Las Vegas
third round pick. I know something you had texted me
a Pro Football Talk interview that they'd done with John
Schneider what ten days ago at the combine. Oh, yeah,

(27:48):
that's our guy, no doubt our guy. Are there any
concerns and questions that Gino Smith will be your guy? Nope,
it's the uh you know that we as of this moment,
he's our guy.

Speaker 3 (27:58):
Yes, exactly. He meant what he said at that moment,
right he he What he left out of that sentence
was he's our guy as long as he doesn't want
to go up another ten million dollars. Otherwise he's not
our guy. So that's what happened there.

Speaker 2 (28:09):
Well, when we got top of markets sitting around sixty
million dollars uh thirty one on the books for this year,
which the Raiders now pick up. So that's off off
the board one. You know the problem in five day.

Speaker 3 (28:20):
Trevor Lawrence got fifty five million a year, So that's
what people want to base it on.

Speaker 4 (28:24):
You know.

Speaker 2 (28:25):
Well, but that's the thing, right that's it's always been
the next man up until someone says, like the old
Susan Powder stopped the insanity, look it up. But the
id idea that you're suddenly gonna stop paying quarterbacks. Look,
San Francisco is testing this right now. How much is
brock Party worth?

Speaker 3 (28:42):
I brock Party to me is worth in that about
fifty million dollar range. I'm not gonna give him in well,
maybe about forty five to fifty million, you know. To me,
it's like they're playing with monopoly money. I either staying
where Brock Party's coming from. But I'm gonna give him
the forty five to fifty million now arrange if he
wants to accept that.

Speaker 4 (29:02):
But you're coming in and you're asking for a high amount.
Right now.

Speaker 2 (29:05):
The forty nine ers began the salary shed with Deebo Samuel.
There's talk that next they want to trade Ayuk if possible,
realizing that they may have they definitely overspent for him.

Speaker 4 (29:19):
In the graved shut me down on that.

Speaker 3 (29:20):
When I said it on Sunday, I said, watch. If
I say they got to play with somebody, I go.
You watch and.

Speaker 4 (29:26):
See if you want to give.

Speaker 2 (29:27):
You got George Kittle and if nothing else, you've got
an organization that's been stable that can go and find
another guy.

Speaker 3 (29:36):
And the deep draft back, deep, deep deep draft in
the running back position too.

Speaker 2 (29:41):
Right, there's another catches right, and they had Juwan Jennings
who showed that he's a number two. You you have
plenty of bodies uh to catch football's there. But the
training of Smith gets everybody excited about what then uh
spins out in Seattle as maybe DK Metcalf whatever the

(30:02):
hall will be for him in the open market. Tyler
Lockett's already been released, Jackson Smith and Jigbas there, you
got Sharboney and Walker in the backfield. You need an
offensive line.

Speaker 3 (30:13):
I'm not giving you a third round pick and I'm
not giving like a thirty million dollars a year, So
forget about that.

Speaker 2 (30:18):
You better No, no, no, he's got to come back on
a cheap if he wants to come back, and DK
Metcalf to trade him.

Speaker 3 (30:24):
I'm not giving him. Yeah, even if they want to
trade him to me, I'm not giving him a new
contract starting at thirty million a year.

Speaker 2 (30:30):
Well, and that's that's where the hiccups to this come in, right,
in terms of all right, i'll take your money, but
you give me next to nothing. Right, I'll take it
off the books, kind of like the debo trade. Right,
fifth round pick? Why is it a fifth round pick? Well,
maybe because a little bit of a diminished asset, but
more so you've got to pay him off, right, what's
left on that contract. And that's kind of what we

(30:51):
see with some of this. But the rumors immediately shifted
to all right, Seattle's the obvious space for Sam Darnold
as the next man up for McDonald and the Seattle
offense as they go forward, Sam Donald the curiosity and everybody,
you know, Hey, how much money did he lose off
those two games? I think Kevin O'Connell and company need

(31:13):
to go back and look in the mirror at their
game plan and how they they they posted things. But
unfortunately Donald's the guy that has to wear it, and
for him, it's not just a matter of those two games.
As we talk about in Arnie, it's also the fact
that he had two thousand and eight through twenty twenty
three that folks are still nervous about, right right.

Speaker 3 (31:32):
And that's why it's tough to figure out how much
you want to pay him. There's no doubt there's a
market for him, and I think Seattle if they do
get him, and it looks that that's the way it's
going to trend, they'll have to figure out what are
they gonna give him? Forty five to fifty million. They're
gonna give him the money that they didn't want to
give Gino Smith, and it's gonna be good for them.
They're gonna get themselves a better quarterback than when they

(31:54):
add Gino. So it's a win win situation for Las Vegas,
for Seattle, and really for for Darnold really because it's
been a long time coming and he's gonna get that
big contract now.

Speaker 2 (32:08):
At Stinking Genius One where you find already find me
over at Swollen Dome. As we continue here at the
Jason Smith Show with me Mike Harman live from the
Tiraq dot Com. Fox Sports Radio Studios will continue with
the NFL because there's one other veteran quarterback. Maybe he's
in play, but he at least got a consultation with
his team owner.

Speaker 4 (32:28):
Who is it.

Speaker 2 (32:29):
We'll tell you as we continue, but first let's turn
it over to Steve Disager get an update on the
NBA slate and everything going on in our sporting universe.

Speaker 7 (32:40):
There we go, hello again, gentlemen. Yankees pitcher Derek Cole
with tests on his elbow right now. Five spring training
games were rained out in area.

Speaker 8 (32:47):
So finished.

Speaker 3 (32:48):
By the way, he's finished, Derek coleshed.

Speaker 6 (32:51):
Excuse me already?

Speaker 8 (32:53):
Did you not see him pitch last year?

Speaker 3 (32:55):
Six runs he gave up in the spring training Today?

Speaker 8 (32:57):
No, yesterday? Yeah?

Speaker 7 (32:58):
Well yeah, what if that related to the elbow and
he just starts for the Yankees much later.

Speaker 8 (33:03):
In the year.

Speaker 3 (33:03):
There you go, exactly.

Speaker 7 (33:05):
We kind of went through this twelve months ago. I
think Orioles pitcher Grayson Rodriguez will miss the start of
the season with sword triceps. Mariners pitcher George Kirby was
shut down due to shoulder inflammation. By the way, a reminder,
the Cubs and Dodgers opened the regular season this month
in Tokyo. First game will be on Fox TV, the
next on FS one. The games will start at six am.
Eastern Time March eighteenth and nineteenth. As for the NFL News, tonight,

(33:30):
the Seattle Seahawks traded quarterback Gino Smith to the Raiders.
He has one year left on his deal. For now,
Seattle gets a third rounder. Smith will now play for
coach Pete Carroll again, and yes quarterback Sam Darnold is available.
Washington released defensive tackle Jonathan Allen. The Titans are cutting
pass rusher Harold Landry. Tennessee has the number one overall
draft choice next month. In college basketball on Fox TV tonight,

(33:53):
Illinois beat number eighteen Perdue eighty eight to eighty at
sixteenth ranked Memphis Tigers over South Florida four to sixty eight.
This is the final weekend of the men's regular season.
The first conference tournament title game is Saturday night in
the Ohio Valley. In women's basketball, it's conference tournament week
SEC quarterfinal win for number one Texas seventy to sixty

(34:14):
three over Old Miss Big ten quarterfinal wins for USC UCLA.
Ohio State tonight won sixty to fifty nine over Iowa.
Michigan upset Number fifteen Maryland in the NHL. Among the
six games, Winnipega six to one winner over New Jersey
and out of the NBAS we got three late games,
including the one at Sacramento where Dearon Fox is playing

(34:37):
in a Spurs uniform. From three point range, he's zero
for six, and the Kings are leading eighty five sixty
eight against San Antonio late in the third quarter. Mid
third at Denver, it's the Nuggets ahead eighty seven to
seventy two over Phoenix, and halftime in La the Clippers
back in the lead on the Knicks sixty to fifty four.
James Harden nineteen points in the first half. Jalen Brunson

(35:01):
of the Knicks, out at least two weeks with a
sprained ankle out for Oklahoma City tonight for Rest shake
Giljes Alexander, but Okay see one at six straight, beating
Portland one oh seven eighty nine, and Cleveland won it's
thirteenth game in a row, winning one eighteen one seventeen
at Charlotte, which is lost nine straight. Although for the Hornets,
Miles Bridges did score forty six points tonow Donovan Mitchell

(35:23):
had twenty four points in the win. From three point range,
he was zero for six, but the Calves on free
throws forty three for fifty one from the line, and
they won by a point at Charlotte.

Speaker 8 (35:35):
Back to you, a.

Speaker 2 (35:36):
Lot of stoppages in play. That's good for beer sales.

Speaker 8 (35:39):
NICs to name Thrilly.

Speaker 4 (35:40):
Who was the ref?

Speaker 3 (35:41):
Donally? What the hell's going on.

Speaker 4 (35:44):
Hey man?

Speaker 2 (35:45):
Maybe a guy with some sore knees he wanted some
standing around time. Daron Fox an interesting article that came
out earlier today talking about his exit from Sacramento. If
Mike Brown gets fired, it'll be I'll be going on
my fifth coach and I'm not going to do that again.
I'm going to play for another team. They played a
tribute video to start the game and before the game,

(36:06):
and a lot of booze early and eventually they silenced
because they got tired. I guess maybe it was all
those free throws in the other game. That's Steve Desager
at the News desk Arnie span your stinking genius one
where you find him on Twitter? Hey coming up next
to guy who's been very curious this offseason as to
how he's gone about things at different points going back

(36:28):
to Super Bowl week and he got an audience with
his team owner today. What's it mean for the future.
We'll tell you next Here it's Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 6 (36:38):

Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven

Watch Flex podcast with me and Dan Buyer as well,
and Alex trying to get you through to find the
meaning of life, and maybe some juice recipes along the way.
Arnie exactly spoil that mic oh I did I that
was supposed to.

Speaker 4 (37:24):
Be a tease.

Speaker 8 (37:24):
That's okay. I just don't want Arnie to have any
of my juice.

Speaker 2 (37:27):
You know.

Speaker 3 (37:27):
Alex he's just too righteous for me, you know, like
too much Kumbai Yah for me. With Alex, It's just
just too much for me, you know.

Speaker 2 (37:35):
You don't like he's got to get you some behind
the scenes though, Alex, Yeah, what.

Speaker 8 (37:39):
Is against me? Arnie?

Speaker 3 (37:41):
Just you know you're too weird for me? I'm sorry
I have to say it. Wow, Yeah, it's very weird.

Speaker 8 (37:47):
Oh I get it, just because I don't have a
daughter and you can't get me a car.

Speaker 3 (37:50):
Huh. Wow, You're you're one of those weird Californians, is
no way?

Speaker 8 (37:55):
Yeah, I'm not even from here.

Speaker 3 (37:57):
Yeah, well you act like you are.

Speaker 8 (37:59):
Okay, I'm good actor.

Speaker 2 (38:02):
Live fromthetirach dot com studios. As we continue here tonight
acting Chops, he'll be doing some improv later on. It's
Alex steischert. Maybe you too, aren't he come back and
do some work now. Earlier today, as we were kicking
around stories, one that popped up, and now I go
back to find it and you do the search for
the name on X and you see all sorts of

(38:23):
vitriolic stuff that starts to flow through. I'm talking about
one Captain Kirk Cousins. He evidently went to the White
House today, so a photo of he and President.

Speaker 3 (38:33):
I saw that, yes, which has one.

Speaker 2 (38:36):
Hundred and ninety four thousand looks on one site that
I see in four under and fifty three comments. I'm
not going to read the comments. You can do your
political stuff on another time. I just thought it was
interesting how much heat that got. Meanwhile, a report from
Albert Breer from six hours ago nearly a million looks
at this point that Kirk Cousins asked for and got

(38:58):
a meeting with Arthur Blank talking about his future. They
had it Wednesday night, and evidently Kirk Cousins would like
to go to a place where he can start in
twenty twenty five.

Speaker 3 (39:09):
Right right, I thought they were going to plan on
bringing him back as the backup and be okay with that.
I guess that that one by the wayside real quick.

Speaker 2 (39:16):
I just see when they did all those press conferences
at the Combine, Yeah, super Bowl week, anybody had any quotes,
because remember Kirk Cousins super Bowl week started talking about
how he was hurt and played hurt and whatever else
and that's why he was not good and eventually got
replaced as they were reticent to put Michael Pennix Junior
in and wrote it. I was like, no, no, no, I

(39:37):
got hurt in that week ten game. You were never
on an injury report, right, and clearly you performed well
enough at practice that you convinced.

Speaker 4 (39:45):
Everybody you were good.

Speaker 2 (39:46):
So now you're trying to cast dispersions and say, no, no, no,
it really wasn't me.

Speaker 4 (39:51):
I was hurt. I wasn't just terrible.

Speaker 3 (39:54):
I want to go after him. Where do you want
to go? You go to the Jets, you can go
to the Giants and pretty much should be the starting
quarterback there Tennessee. Where would you want to go if
your cousins and take over the starting spot.

Speaker 2 (40:10):
Well, Rapaport and some others were floating the possibility that
if you can make the Moneies all work out, that
he goes back to Minnesota when Sam Darnold leaves.

Speaker 3 (40:19):
Well that's a possibility, and what have them fight it
out with McCarthy and see who's going to be the
starter there?

Speaker 2 (40:24):
It becomes the all right, if he was quote willing
to be a backup, which I And that's the problem
for it for me, because I thought, with all of
the public commentary from the Falcons, they were standing there
with a megaphone in one hand and a giant sign
with a phone number, or they were spinning a sign
like they were going to take you to some real
estate or sell you a cell phone in downtown LA

(40:46):
to come and get him. Yeah, if the price is right,
we'll sell him off. But you want to go to
a place where you can win. If you're Captain Kirk
at this point, don't you You're right, You're right. I
had a lot of money pays.

Speaker 3 (40:56):
I didn't think he'd go back there. I know you
didn't want to leave there to begin with. That might
be a good winding spot. Who knows if McCarthy could
even win the starting job at this point.

Speaker 2 (41:05):
Well, also still coming off of two knee surgeries, and
if nothing else, you know that this is Daniel Jeremiah.
I want to make sure I get the proper insider there.
But you know, Atlanta picks up a bunch of the
cost of what's left on that contract, which is gargantuan.
And I think that's the biggest stumbling block, is fighting
about those dollars and cents exactly.

Speaker 3 (41:25):
So if you get him at a bargain basement, why
not take the chances of making him your backup. I
think it's a win win situation.

Speaker 2 (41:31):
Well, we'll continue to spin the wheel with Kirk Cousins
as a one of the folcrumbs as we go. It's
already it's Mike back to the top of the draft
and quarterback silly season as we continue on Fox Sports
