Speaker 3 (00:51):
Well, another big day two in.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
NFL free agency, and you know we got ready to
come on the air tonight. We finally got the landing
spot for the best available free agent that was still
left after day one, as Joey Bosa to the Buffalo
Bills for one year, twelve and a half million dollars.
Bosa was let go by the Chargers. It was sad,

(01:15):
but it was necessary. The guy had a real tough
time staying on the field. The Chargers had to move on.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
They did.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
We all thought he was gonna wind up heading to
San Francisco, right, Bosa brothers, everything is great. This shows
you how much trouble San Francisco is. And they didn't
have enough money for Bosa for one year. Okay, they
didn't have enough money for Joey Bosa for one year.
That's we told you last hour. The era of the
forty nine Ers is over. They have to say goodbye
to too much talent. They've already lost tons of guys already.

(01:42):
There's more guys they have to lose. They've lost a
lot of great defensive players already. Yeah, and you know
they've traded away Deebo Samuel and who knows what gonna
happen with George Kittle if he's going to be around
in the long term.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
They sign a tight end today. They didn't have enough
money for.

Speaker 1 (01:59):
Joey Boa, which would at least would have been a
a cosmetic. Hey, we're going to cover up all this
talent we're losing, and we may finish last in the
NFC West next year, but we.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
Got Joey Bosa, So at least we got that right.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
Hey, now they couldn't even do that, right because you
said last hour their offer was what like four million
dollars less than the.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
Bills for one night?

Speaker 4 (02:20):
It was less than ten million dollars. Then you have
the Dolphins that thought they could steal him at eight million.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
Oh man.

Speaker 4 (02:28):
Now, look there's a lot of risk, which is why
the offers weren't going to be huge. Buffalo really trying
to push all in saying hey, we've got whatever the
window is, and they're extending it with Josh Allen himself.
But it's all a question of talent around him, right,
So retooling, defense, whatever, whatever else. And Miami, well, good luck.
We're trying to figure out what Greer and company are

(02:51):
are doing. But San Francisco, what is it half their
starters from.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
The Super Bowl are gone? Yeah, guys already. Yeah, so
good luck.

Speaker 4 (03:02):
But with him, right, it's it's great risk because we
talked about it, you know, as as he went to
free agency, and then as he signs, it's that question
of all, right, what are you really getting out of him?
Because the games played, stat just looking at the box
scores and all, we're deceiving because he didn't finish a
lot of games, his ability to contain at times, you know,

(03:25):
too busy looking for the big play instead of you know,
playing with your gap integrity and laying integrity on the outside,
all of those things. And so going forward, I think
you know, the Chargers who let him go, they had
a guy in the building that I think would be
have a bigger impact than Joey Bosa. I think he

(03:46):
might be the biggest domino still to fall. He could
upset the balance. I'm sure you went full you went
full on. I have the high ground Anakin Skywalker and
you know you and McGregor as Obi wan on Moustafar
as he's burning up. So I'll circle back here, how
about upsetting the balance of the force with Evan Ingram?

Speaker 1 (04:07):
This is this is more important. This is your own
two for Tuesday. Like you found a way to bring
up the Riddler in back to back topics, now you're
bringing up Anakin in back to back top It's like
it's your own two for Tuesday, a my carbet two
for Tuesday.

Speaker 4 (04:20):
Well, it's it's also just a short term callback because
it is later at night and maybe synapses are not
firing for the rest of the universe, and and I
want to make it familiar. Repetition breeds continuity, breeds retention.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
Coming up next, got a double shot from Bowie and
Little Feet on the way right.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
Here, No, no, no, I'm gonna play the new Jethro Tol.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
Album and it's an entirety all right, So with this,
with this move here, I got, I got a question
for you.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
Here hit me. So here's the Bills, who have perennially
been all.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
They're so close to a super Bowl right every all
They're so close, and it's so close. They're so close
they extend Josh Allen, which, of course they're going to.
The guy's coming off an MVPC is one of the
top three quarterbacks in the game.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
Yes, of course you're going to do that.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
But now the Bills are in a real tricky spot
where they're not going to be able to spend a
ton of money the rest of the time they have
Josh Allen because while the salary cap is going to
keep going up, which is great, you have a lot
of money tied into Josh Allen, which is why, Hey,
when you can your best window to win a Super
Bowl is when you're not paying your quarterback, like one
of the top players in the league, and Alan's going

(05:26):
to eat into a lot of the salary cap. And yeah,
for now, you know, they're able to make some moves, right.
They resign Khalil Shakirhine, they resigned Throw Bernard. They were
able to bring in Joshua Palmer, which is kind of
a man move. But what the Bills are doing now,
it's kind of like they're at the point where the
Chiefs are, except without the Super Bowls is that they're
at the point where it's for the back half of

(05:50):
josh Allen's career now that we're paying him, how do
we continually reinvent this team where we are a Super
Bowl favorite?

Speaker 3 (05:57):
And the Chiefs found a way to do it right.
Chiefs found a way how to do it.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
They built their defense really well, the home field advantage
they had, they found a way, right, They found a
way to do it. The Bills kind of have to
do the same thing, except they weren't a team that's
been good enough to get to the Super Bowl even
when they could spend a lot of money and pay
guys like Stefan Diggs and be able to bring players in.
Now they have to be careful with how they spend it.

(06:23):
And they got to spend money and take chances on
guys like Joey Bosa, who let's say, if it does,
he gonna play ten games eight games this year. I mean,
what do you think is gonna happen? And now you
make it work with a wide receiving corp. That's Khalil
Shakir and Joshua Palmer, all guys who are kind of
met It didn't work before. How is this going to
work for the back half of Josh Allen's career? So

(06:43):
I ask you this, If I put the over under
for the number of Super Bowls Josh Allen plays in
in his career at a half, I put the over
under at one out, one and a half. I put
the over under at one half. Are you taking the
over or the under?

Speaker 4 (07:02):
Well, still has the past path through the East. As
much as you love your Justin Fields, and you know
I'm a fan ex Beart still waiting to being fourteen
and three this year, I mean, just oh well, I
mean that informs the rest of my decision. The Dolphins
still suck, Patriots will be better, but still chasing. So
Bill still win the division in the South South is

(07:25):
a mess, so punt. Even if Daniel Jones is good,
c J. Stroud's running for his life, they do have
a lot of draft picks, so maybe maybe they find
somebody there to uh to protect him. I'm not optimistic
at the moment. Uh So that goes to hell. So
forget about the South. So it really we look. We

(07:45):
look at the North and the West with the Chiefs
and Chargers, and sneakily the the Broncos maybe making that
next step, because remember it looked like bo Nix and
Sean Pate were gonna kill each other. They're in the
first quarter of this last year and things turned out
pretty well there. So the West is going to be

(08:06):
a bear. So you got three legitimate teams and GINO,
and then you've got the.

Speaker 3 (08:12):
North, three legitimate teams.

Speaker 4 (08:15):
And whatever the Steelers put out there as an eight
and eight, nine and eight or I'm sorry, nine and eight, eight,
eight and one kind of team. I'll take all that
filibustering to say I'll still take the over, but man,
I'm really hoping to get to that one.

Speaker 1 (08:31):
See, I'll can take a lot, I'll take the under.
I think the window for the Bills is not going
to be there.

Speaker 3 (08:36):
Ship is sailed. Look at how the other.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
Teams are young and improving, right, The Chargers young and improving, right,
The Broncos young and improving in the AFC South Texas
have made a couple of big moves, right, They're trying
to They are young, they have all the talent they
need in the world.

Speaker 3 (08:51):
Right.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
The Ravens as good as they are. The Steelers if
they could get the quarterback position, right. But okay, but
Joe Burrow and the Bengals their time is now and
the team's right behind. The Bills are get the Jets
are getting better, the Patriots getting better. But okay, you
want to look at title title threats. You still have
the Ravens, the Bengals, potential of the Steelers, maybe the Texans,
the Chiefs, the Chargers.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
The Broncos.

Speaker 1 (09:14):
And if you don't get to the Super Bowl coming
off an MVP season, when are you really going to
get there?

Speaker 3 (09:20):
Right?

Speaker 1 (09:20):
Like, I mean, it's the same thing we've said for
for Lamar Jackson, he's been an MVP twice down, should
have won the MVP this year. But I say, for
if you can't get to the suit, if you're not
a Super Bowl team and your quarterback is coming off
an MVP year?

Speaker 3 (09:33):
When is that really gonna happen for you? Are you?
Are you really? How is how is that going to work? Where?

Speaker 1 (09:38):
Oh, a non MVP year for your quarterback means we're
going to be better as a team and get to
the super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (09:45):
Like, I don't I don't see how that works? Right?

Speaker 1 (09:47):
And and and for the Bills, like Josh Allen had
an unreal year, right, I mean, this is this is
a year where you know you're talking about the c
MVP they scored.

Speaker 3 (09:55):
I mean, they had the second most points in the
NFL this.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
Year, right, I mean it's it's it's an insane run
they had and still they fell short. I Mean, I
don't know how how the Bills turn this around? Will
they be able to stay competitive? Yes, one hundred percent.
The Bills are gonna be a big playoff team, big
playoff threat the entire because Josh Allen is just that good, right,
and he's been able to carry and cover a lot
of different faults the Bills had. When their defense has

(10:21):
been good, they still haven't gotten there, but they're still competitive.
When their defense is bad, they haven't gotten there, But
they've been competitive the offense the same way, and now
this is suddenly gonna work. At some point they're gonna
figure out bringing in middling talent and extending guys like
Shakir and bringing in Josh Palmer like that, that's gonna
do it for you.

Speaker 3 (10:40):
I don't see it.

Speaker 1 (10:40):
I don't see how when the other younger teams are
getting better, drafting better, the quarterbacks are younger and they're coming, I.

Speaker 3 (10:45):
Don't see how that happens.

Speaker 1 (10:46):
I don't see how not winning, just getting to a
super Bowl. I don't think the window is open for
the Bills like everybody thinks it is.

Speaker 4 (10:53):
Yeah, the offensively, i'd like to see him, And they
brought back Ty Johnson.

Speaker 3 (10:57):
You talked about the wide receiver.

Speaker 4 (10:58):
James Cook is looking for a massive payday, and based
on guys like Aaron Jones and others getting pretty big bags,
he's certainly gonna keep chirping wherever he can get a
microphone to talk about that. But yeah, looking for that
one breakthrough wide receiver because tight ends Kincaid and knocks solid,

(11:19):
not spectacular. Kincaid not the guy that everybody anticipated. Again
fantasy wise, he was a guy. He's gonna be huge.
He was could stay healthy, so the question, but they
did fortify the defense, which betrayed them repeatedly this last year.
And look, I don't like a lot of McDermott's in
game management of things, but they win at a pretty

(11:43):
consistent pace. And I'm looking at around the division and
I think they at least have the path there. Uh
to still make some noise, But your your point is
well taken. There's the AFC's fun.

Speaker 5 (11:56):
Right.

Speaker 4 (11:56):
There's just a lot of competition, particularly when you look
at the Or than the West.

Speaker 3 (12:01):
There there's a.

Speaker 4 (12:02):
Several teams in each division that are interesting. And you
talk about Houston, someone's gotta win the division.

Speaker 3 (12:09):
So it's either CJ. Stroud or Daniel Jones, it would appear.

Speaker 1 (12:13):
I mean, you're and you're also talking about this is
a conference just to get out of the conference.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
Okay, get out of the conference. I just need to
get him to the super Bowl now, right, that's it.

Speaker 1 (12:22):
Right, So the NFC has the better teams, but the
AFC has the better quarterbacks heavy though, Yeah, but it's
but the NFC total, you know, top to bottom, their
talent level, their teams are more solid all around, right,
because you see, look you did if you did power
rankings coming off of this playoffs?

Speaker 3 (12:40):
Oh, can we do it? Can we do it tomorrow?

Speaker 1 (12:42):
Like the NFC would have like four of the five
top teams coming at at the end of this year. Right,
But in the AFC, Okay, you're Josh Allen and during
and in the playoffs, you're likely gonna have to get
by probably two every year out of Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, CJ.
Stroud and the Texans Patrick Mahomes, and now you have

(13:04):
to worry about Justin Herbert and Bonnix, Right. I mean
that that's a lot. That's a lot of quarterbacks to
outshoot every single every single time, and then to get
to the Super Bowl and suddenly, hey, now you're facing
a more complete team. So this is why getting out
of the of the AFC is so difficult, because even
if the Bills have a big year and you know
their record wise have a couple of home games, it's like, uh,

(13:26):
you sure you're gonna be able to beat two of
these quarterbacks in a row. Maybe you gotta beat three
of them at one point to try to make it there.
I mean, it's the task of the Bills, like.

Speaker 3 (13:35):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (13:36):
I mean, yes, they'll still competitive, there's still big names.
Josh Allen's won, but windows closed.

Speaker 4 (13:41):
You know what's great about this? We cut and print this?
What is this the the eleventh? This is the day
you predicted Josh Allen to win another MVP.

Speaker 3 (13:51):
Expectations are bottomed. They're takes.

Speaker 4 (13:55):
He's got no shot is according to Jason Smith?

Speaker 3 (13:58):
Oh wait, what are they?

Speaker 4 (13:59):
They're fourteen to three and VP and VP.

Speaker 3 (14:04):
WHOA, look what I just did you? Really? Frank A
Stanza that right there? You know, know what what the
hell you're talking about? Josh Allen? You guy's got a
rocket for it on VP coming off.

Speaker 4 (14:13):
With this U, I may or may not have a
little bit of frank stand that was really good after
eleven years me, come on you so frank A.

Speaker 1 (14:23):
Stand as that I got a rocket for it on

I think we probably all woke up ready for Day

(15:29):
two of the NFL Free agency and what's happening? And
I keep going, why aren't the Jets signing anybody?

Speaker 3 (15:35):
Where? Why aren't the jet signing anybody?

Speaker 1 (15:38):
And then oh, by the way, this drops with Tiger
Woods not gonna see him on the golf course anytime soon.
Tiger Woods revealed that he is recuperating from surgery on
a ruptured Achilles tendon.

Speaker 3 (15:52):
Wait what tight? With just song?

Speaker 1 (15:54):
He's doing Tgli's doing all kinds of stuff. He's on
tel Wait, wait a minute, what what what? He underwent
surgery after rupturing his tendon while ramping up and training
and practicing at home. He puts this statement out on
X earlier today. The surgery went smoothly. They expect a
full recovery. Woods says he's back and plans to focus
on his recovery and rehab. His timeline for a return

(16:16):
of competition isn't immediately known. However, the Master is about
a month away, so you know he's going to miss that.
He hasn't competed in a PGA Tour event this season,
as his mom passed away in early February. He had
entered in Genesis, was going to play the Genesis, but
then realized I wasn't ready to do it. Last time
he played was the Open Championship last year at Troon.

(16:36):
So Tiger now who knows, And it's good that obviously
all thoughts to Tiger Woods and good thoughts.

Speaker 3 (16:42):
To him coming back.

Speaker 1 (16:43):
And I thinking about this right now with Tiger Mike.

Speaker 3 (16:47):
Is that, yes, the.

Speaker 1 (16:51):
After effects or the Tiger Woods hangover, which has been
going on for the better part of sixteen years now
is really gone away. I don't think anybody really expects
him to win a tournament anymore.

Speaker 3 (17:02):
He had his final.

Speaker 1 (17:03):
Masters title for a few years ago, which is very
comparable to Jack Nicholas, right where we thought he was
done winning. He won his final the eighty six Masters,
years after he had won his his last major, and
that was it for Jack, and the same thing for Tiger.
Somehow he wins a few years ago, but he doesn't
play enough golf to compete. I know that he thinks

(17:24):
that I can try to get on the course a
handful of tell he never played a lot of tournaments
to begin with, but now he's probably what four or
five tournaments a year. You don't have the game, you
don't have the stamina. I think he knows that, but
he still wants to play. He still thinks that maybe
I can get in the way back machine one more time,
and who knows. But his body is betraying him. And
that's what we've seen for a long time since when

(17:46):
he had one of the greatest swings you've ever seen
in golf history, and then he says, I'm breaking it
down and I'm completely building it back up. Okay, a
lot of torque on your knee, a lot of torque
on your back. And Woods has had knee and back
problems throughout the back half of his career, and he
just can't stay on the course. And now I'm at
the point where forget about about him winning again. If

(18:08):
I said to you, are we gonna see him five
more times?

Speaker 3 (18:12):
Tee it up? For real?

Speaker 1 (18:13):
I don't mean the TGL different things like how many
more times are we gonna see him tee it up
at a PGA event in the rest of his career.
I don't know that we're gonna see five times, Like
we may see him less than five times on a PGA,
on a course or in a major, is what I'm saying,
Like teeing it up, PGA Tour, teeing it up in
a major. We may see him five more times. As

(18:35):
it is, we hardly see him more than four or
five times a year. Now, you're talking about most likely
the rest of this year to be out right or
at least through all the major championships when you get
to the beginning of September, and so are we gonna
see him Again's he gonna come back next year? How
many more times are he really gonna play? How many
He's forty nine now, right, and it's just his body

(18:55):
is just not cooperating. Maybe we see him try to
do one last major one more time, right, Maybe he
he does the Masters one or two more times. Maybe
he does Royal and Ancient one more time, you know,
maybe the sat or Saint Andrews one more time, the
PGA one more time, just to say goodbye. Because if
anybody deserves a golf farewell, it's Tiger Woods what he's

(19:18):
meant to the game for the past twenty five years.
But if you said five times, I would say, yeah,
I don't know that we get to see him five times.
Every time we see him. That whatever he plans on doing,
you gotta make it, make a plan to go watch
and go see it, because I really he's not going
to be someone that keeps trying to play. And I
play a hole and I leave, and then I relax

(19:40):
for three months, and I come back and I play
four holes and I leave, or I play a day
and I leave, or I play two days and I
missed the cut by by fifteen strokes. Like at some
point he's going to get to that that realization of
I'm just hurting myself. I'm not winning, I'm just hurting
my image. I'm hurting the golfer I was and what
people think. It's time for me to stop. And I

(20:00):
hope he stays relevant. I hope he stays around. I
hope he becomes PGA Tour commissioner. He seems like he
wants to take a big leadership role in golf, and
he was the guy everything for the PGA Tour when
in the big fight against liv Golf. I hope that
happens and Tiger stays that guy. But really on the course,
I mean, if we see him more than five times,

(20:21):
I would be surprised.

Speaker 4 (20:22):
Overall, Well, last year, five starts, he made one cut
prize money forty four four hundred dollars, but otherwise he's
missing the cut and he's hitting into the mid to
upper seventies in each of those. He was plus one
at the Genesis and then PGA Championship, in US Open

(20:42):
plus seven, and at the Open Championship he was plus
fourteen before he finally sat. So it becomes the question
of do you want to do the ceremonial thing. You
go back twenty twenty two to twenty three Genesis and
the Masters. You go back to twenty one twenty two Masters,
the Open and the PGA Championship before that, the Zozo Championship,

(21:07):
Masters in US Open. So we got to go all
the way back to twenty nineteen before we get beyond.
You know, a four or five starts twenty eighteen, twelve starts,
nine cuts made, so it's a long time coming. It's
just a is he at peace with where he is
to where as a business entity, as a brand all

(21:30):
of that, you know, with his advisors in tow do
they do the discussion of, hey, this hinders our future
returns when you want to build golf courses, you want
to do some global you know, courses or business interest.
Does it diminish what you did for a younger viewing

(21:50):
audience that maybe didn't experience Tiger Woods of fifteen years ago? Right,
it doesn't. It doesn't resonate at all. It's the guy
that once was versus the hoping of you and me
and guys more our age that we get magic one
more time. Like I said, last year, five tournaments made
the cut once. So otherwise it's the excitement to see Tiger,

(22:15):
and then it's like, all right, let's get to Rom
and McElroy and Scheffler. I say, I'm trying to bring
the world back together by including Rom in the analysis.

Speaker 3 (22:23):
That's nice, but that's nice to tell. Maybe you're trying
to be PGA tour commissioner. Sure well, it pays well.
I hear it pays well.

Speaker 4 (22:35):
Derision that comes my way at Swollen Dome. So you
know what's a little more. I'm still gonna be better
than insert whatever commissioner of the big four sports you
hate this week. Hi guys, that's uh yeah, no, so
I'll be more popular than them. But it's really the
for Tiger, you know, because we love our musical theater. Uh,
it's the teach him how to say goodbye And is

(22:59):
that just a short wave, you know and dropping a
ball and saying all right, I got one last driving
me I'll see you, or or is he gonna try
to still be the ceremonial guy because it puts asses
in seats or you know, beers in hands along the fairways.

Speaker 3 (23:16):

Speaker 5 (23:50):
You could have been talking about driving. It's any number
of ways you were a little nervous. Yeah, yeah, yeah, Well.

Speaker 1 (23:56):
Sometimes make it seem like it's gonna be then no, no, no,
I'm just giving you a regular one.

Speaker 3 (24:02):
It's fine. It could have taken a terrible turn as
it were.

Speaker 5 (24:05):
Yes, Wow, just about everything is final. Tonight. The late
NHL game has under three minutes left in Anaheim. Caps
are leading five to four over the Ducks. Minnesota wanted
a shootout against Colorado. Pittsburgh was an overtime winner against Vegas. Again.
More NFL news tonight. You see Wednesday is the first
day of the NFL's new league year. That's when a

(24:25):
lot of the recent trades and signings become official. Buffalo
is signing defensive end Joey Bosa to a one year
deal twelve million dollars guaranteed. Reportedly, the Baltimore Ravens agreed
to a one year deal with wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.
The Ravens resigned fullback Patrick Ricard. Quarterback Daniel Jones is
signing with the Colts one year worth over sea.

Speaker 1 (24:47):
You say Captain Picard got resigned by the USS Enterprise Engage.

Speaker 3 (24:52):
Kind of like you said, Captain Picard has resigned.

Speaker 5 (24:54):
You can't see the bald head under the helmet.

Speaker 3 (24:56):
Picard's contract was up there. We're going to go back
to Kirk, but they instead.

Speaker 5 (25:01):
Yeah, yeah, that is really going back. I've they've had
so many series. I've really lost count at this point.
We have competition for quarterback at Indy for Anthony Richardson.
Because of the Daniel Jones signing this week one year
worth over thirteen million dollars guarantee. The Cardinals will sign
backup quarterback Jacoby Burssett. He started five games for New
England last year. Arizona is resigning wide receiver Zay Jones.

(25:25):
Dallas resigned punter Brian Anger. Tennessee is signing punter Johnny Hecker.
Miami gets wide receiver Nick Westbrook at Keene. Dallas resigned
returnman Cavante Turpin. The Vikings are signing defensive tackle Jonathan
Allen and guard Will Fry. San Francisco is expected to
release defensive tackle Javon Hargrave and he could sign with Minnesota.

(25:46):
The forty nine Ers are signing wide receiver DeMarcus Robinson
from the Rams. Atlanta is signing defensive end Leonard Floyd
after he was cut by the forty nine ers today,
and the Falcons got linebacker Devine Diablo, Carolina Cutt running
back Miles Sanders. Buffalo re signed running back Ty Johnson,
and Pittsburgh gets running back Kenneth Gainwill to college basketball

(26:08):
four conference finals tonight, including in Vegas, a win for
Gonzaga taking the West Coast Conference crown, beating nineteenth ranks
Saint Mary's fifty eight to fifty one. This was an
n likely victory, not only because Saint Mary's has now
been the team in this league for a couple of years,
but the Waves Tag's played tonight to score under sixty points,

(26:30):
shoot under ten percent from three point range with that
many attempts, and get out read abounded by fifteen or more,
and yet still win the game. That had not happen
in the last twenty five years to any Division One team.
When those three things all happened in the same game,
teams had been oh and one twenty one over the
last quarter century. But you see, Gonzaga's three point shooting

(26:52):
was one of fifteen, Saint Mary's oh of sixteen from
long distance. Saint Francis, pa Is going to the NCAA
Tournament with a record of sixteen and seventeen. Speaking of
yeah yeah, bunny shooting in a game where each team
shot about thirty percent from the floor, the Northeast Conference
champion Saint Francis winning forty six forty three at Central Connecticut.

Speaker 2 (27:14):
Robert Morris, the.

Speaker 5 (27:15):
First place team in the Horizon, took that league's final
eighty nine seventy eight over Youngstown's Day. Robert Morris started
this season six and five and oh won two in conference,
but they advanced and UNC Wilmington wins the Colonial Tournament
seventy six seventy two over a Delaware team that finishes
the season sixteen and twenty in the NBA, just four

(27:35):
games victories for New Orleans and Detroit, Indiana Edge. Milwaukee
won fifteen, won fourteen thanks to Tyrese Haliburton's game winning
four point play with under four seconds left, and Cleveland
was down eighteen early third quarter and still beat Brooklyn
one oh nine, one oh four. The Cavs have won
fifteen straight games.

Speaker 1 (27:53):

of basketball again, this is another you heard Steve, bring
you that big note on the Cavaliers again.

Speaker 3 (28:27):
Down big.

Speaker 1 (28:28):
They win again tonight. This is their second win streak
of fifteen games.

Speaker 3 (28:34):
Yea this season.

Speaker 1 (28:36):
Okay, this is what I mean when I say it's
all exciting, and it's exciting for teams like the Lakers
and the Nixon and the Bucks and the Nuggets, and
but just every time we need a reminder, the Thunder
and the Cavaliers and the Celtics show you to show us. Yeah,
don't forget. We're the three best teams in the NBA,

(28:57):
and really the level of the next best teams their
way below us, right, Like as much fun as it
is for the Lakers. And look, last night was a
horrendous loss, and we had the Lebron James see oh
and I'm not there. Look what Luca can't do, but
the Lakers. Of the teams that can compete for a

(29:17):
championship outside of those three, I probably like the Lakers
the most, potentially the Lakers and the Lakers, Nicks, Nuggets
in that mix right there. But of those three teams,
I will say the Lakers. But but you see what happens.
You see how kind of thin the Lakers are. And
not that we think Lebron's gonna be out a long time,
but you see what happens. Whereas teams like the Cavy

(29:38):
have they play, They miss sometimes two and three starters
in a game, and they still win by fifteen. This
is how good these three teams are. And every time
we forget, we get that reminder. Oh yeah, well, you
want to talk about the Lakers and the Nuggets and
the Nickson. You want to upset Charles Barkley by talking
about the teams that people.

Speaker 3 (29:54):
Want to hear about. Hey, just let you know.

Speaker 1 (29:57):
These three teams are the three best teams. And if
we see the Cavaliers and the Thunder in the NBA Finals,
don't say we didn't warn you, right, because all this
other time, all this talk is great, But if we
are really cave Celtics winner and the Thunder, that's really
what I expect to see. I'd like to see something else.
I'd love to see Nix Lakers. I mean, who wouldn't

(30:17):
I'd love to see in the Nicks win the title,
the Nick sweep.

Speaker 3 (30:19):
I mean, oh come on.

Speaker 1 (30:20):
But in reality, I'm thinking more, Okay, this is gonna
be Cavaliers Thunder or Celtics Thunder.

Speaker 3 (30:26):
That's how it's gonna go.

Speaker 4 (30:27):
No, and that's fun, right a Western conference, Denver's curious.
We're starting to whisper about them a guy going thirty
twenty twenty and shortening the odds on shake gild Alexander
is kind of a big deal with what Jokich has
been doing, and the way they played just quietly is
circling in the background Golden State, because again, I like

(30:48):
those old guys having a puncher's chance, and you know
my affinity for Jimmy Butler. Look, I don't have to
deal with him on a day to day basis, so
I don't have to worry about him berating me from
my practice efforts. So I get along with him just fine,
and appreciate his love of coffee and charging multimillionaires twenty

(31:08):
dollars a cup for the bubble, which will always be
one of the great stories that came out of that time.

Speaker 3 (31:14):
But that's all the Hey, we're throwing dart boards.

Speaker 4 (31:17):
You're throwing darts at a board and hoping that some
other team kind of cracks through, otherwise you'll get at
the Cavs scoring one hundred and twenty three a game,
presumptive defensive player of the year on that squad. The
Thunder finally healthy and have their fuller complement of players
scoring one hundred and twenty a game led by the

(31:37):
presumptive MVP, and then the Celtics reminds you every once
in a while it takes one of those nationally televised
efforts which got huge ratings by the way, right, I
mean other than Christmas Day games. Just an absolute monster
crowd for that no show effort for the most part
by the Lakers. So it was good, got close ish late,

(32:00):
so they had something to watch at the end, but
you know, their depth is scary. Hey, which guy's playing tonight?
Is it going to be Brown or Tatum? Or did
they both lose a bet so they have to play
together today. I mean, that's kind of where we're at
having fun with the regular season. So it's a short
window and a short launch, and I hope for the

(32:21):
NBA that they've already got all their human interest stories
on every member of the Thunder and calves to just
get ready because you're gonna have to sell the hell
out of those that series, you know, for the Casuals.

Speaker 3 (32:33):
Exit out about a Fresca exit swelling Dome.

Speaker 1 (32:35):
Jason Smith Mike Harmon live from the Tirack dot Com studios.

Speaker 3 (32:38):
Coming up next.

Speaker 1 (32:39):
What has fast become my favorite topic of NFL free
agency because I had no idea that a fan base
could hate me so much in such a short amount
of time.

Speaker 3 (32:49):
Usually it takes people time to know me before they
say they don't like me. But this is what's happened.

Speaker 1 (32:53):
It's next right here, Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio,
and it's not the Bears. Bears fans love me because
the breaking out, breaking out Mike Harmon Bears.

Speaker 2 (33:04):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific, Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (33:12):
The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon.

Speaker 3 (33:16):
Who knew.

Speaker 1 (33:20):
I could upset the fan base of the Vikings over
Sam Darnald So easy, Nah, it was a piece of cake.

Speaker 3 (33:27):
We talked about this yesterday and.

Speaker 1 (33:32):
One of the takes we had on Sam Darnald, I
was like, look, I get it, I understand their strategy,
but in the end, you let Sam Darnald walk and
not get anything for him except a third round compensatory pick.
And that's a fail for a guy who walks in
at the most important position in the NFL and throws

(33:54):
for four thousand yards thirty five touchdowns, Pro Bowl quarterback,
unbelievable year. And you say, yep, let's we're okay with
letting you walk out the door. Not only that, we're
okay letting you walk out the door. And because we're
afraid to really do something gutsy to get assets back
for you, we're just gonna let you go and take
the compensatory pick. Right, Like, I don't see how they

(34:16):
didn't find a way to franchise him and trade him, right,
how do you not how do you not do that?
I don't get it. And to let the guy walk.
It's it's like the Vikings decided to hey, we have
our excuse because he played poorly in the last two
games of the year. That's our way to move on, right.
We did. We don't want to be in this and
we're scared to have anything else happen. We have our excuse.

(34:36):
So now we're out and we put that out on
social media. It's become a big deal. It's gone viral,
and you know, Minnesota Vikings fans are all coming at me, going,
you know what you talk about, we got a compensitory pick,
bab blah. Let me go through what some of the
Vikings fans are saying, the most popular ranchers they have
to watch, and I'll, i'll and I'll explain why you

(34:57):
don't know what you're talking about. How about that? So
so number one, we got a third round pick for him,
that's not nothing. We're okay getting a third round pick.
You could have got more. I mean, this is a
quarterback that the Seahawks decided we're gonna give one hundred
million dollars to. We're gonna completely change the direction of
our team because we want Sam Darnald. You think they

(35:18):
weren't gonna pony up more than a third round pick.
You wouldn't have got a second round pick, or maybe
a first round pick, or a second and a third
or two seconds or a second in a player, of
course you would have, right, But that's where the Vikings
have to do their due diligence and understand this is
Sam Darnald's market right. The other part, Oh, we didn't
want to get still, we would have got stuck with
the forty million dollars.

Speaker 3 (35:39):
Nobody wanted them. Again, see my point from.

Speaker 1 (35:42):
Eight seconds ago that obviously somebody did, because the Seahawks
gave him a hundred million dollars.

Speaker 4 (35:49):
Yeah, but the average value and all the money, it's
a one hundred to one hundred and ten. Yeah, but that's
still significantly less than you know, what the reported asking
prices were for say their old quarterback Gino Smith. So
by their math, they saved like twenty five million dollars.

(36:09):
And they got a guy who's eight years younger, and
you don't know, and I'm speaking on behalf of the
Seahawks now, they don't know what his ceiling might be,
that maybe they could bring out the best of him
despite getting rid of a guy who you know, did
only catch deep balls in DK metcalf And.

Speaker 3 (36:27):
What did Sam Donald do? Well, I'm going to point
to you again, throw the ball deep. There you go.

Speaker 1 (36:34):
I mean, look, you obviously knew that he had value. Oh,
we didn't want to get stuck with forty. But really,
nobody was gonna go after Sam Donald after the year
he had last year. Really nobody was going to And
they watched.

Speaker 3 (36:44):
All the tape from before that though, Jason.

Speaker 1 (36:47):
But if that was the case, the Seahawks would assigned
him for a lot less money. They had to give
him one hundred million dollars, right, And again they changed
the direction of their franchise for the next three years
for Sam Donald.

Speaker 3 (36:59):
Yeah, they would have parted with something else.

Speaker 1 (37:00):
Well, if we did that, we franchised it, we couldn't
get the players we've gotten the last couple of days. Okay,
you didn't have to wait to trade him yesterday. You
could have done it over the weekend. You could have
done it right around the franchise. You could have done
when the new leagues are. You could have done it
anytime in the last. You could have franchised him on
March fourth, and you would have had time. You've had
a week to figure out a trade for Sam Donald

(37:22):
to the Seahawks or whoever else wanted him. Maybe likely
he was going to be the Seahawks, who would have
ponied up for you. You didn't have to wait until yesterday.
You would have had that money, right, you had forty
million dollars on Again, this is not the I understand
the whole We could have got caught with this money.

Speaker 3 (37:37):
But this is a decision.

Speaker 1 (37:38):
This is why you're the general manager and the owner
of the of the Vikings. These are the tough decisions
you have to make. But that's the thing.

Speaker 4 (37:45):
This but they made the calculation and they said, you
know what odds are we lose?

Speaker 3 (37:50):
Hey, not my fault. You don't know how to play poker.
Not my fault.

Speaker 1 (37:53):
They don't know how to go in and say, okay,
what's Sam Donald's real value instead just saying we don't know,
and we're happy with moving on from him.

Speaker 3 (38:00):
Because but that might have been the hand ever to
due diligence.

Speaker 1 (38:03):
You would know that, oh, hey, we're gonna there's gonna
be at least one team out there for him. And
there was, and again there was more because if not,
it would have been way less money for the Seahawks.

Speaker 3 (38:12):
To sign him.

Speaker 4 (38:13):
But they all might have walked away from the table
for snack time in that poker game. Wait, what's what's
the it's it's it's Donald that we're looking at namout.

Speaker 3 (38:23):
I missnacked. I foled. Now.

Speaker 1 (38:25):
Now the last one is this and this is this
is from a source that I trust that that told
me that, well, one of the big things is that, hey,
with the money counting against the cap that they were
they were concerned that.

Speaker 3 (38:39):
It was a big risk depending on.

Speaker 1 (38:41):
What the trade partners was going to be, and they
really didn't know who the trade partners were gonna be and.

Speaker 3 (38:47):
I to that.

Speaker 1 (38:48):
I want to say, yeah, I get that, but it's
you know, these are teams that that do deals with
each other all the time, and there's an easy way
to figure out who's you know, you're Sam Darnold's agent.
He's gonna call you and say, listen, this is the
deal I have right now. This is the deal I
can get with the Seahawks. This is the deal we
get here. This is this here. It's not like there's

(39:08):
no way to find out right, like you could find
out what the value is and then go on from there.
I mean, it seems like the Vikings just did nothing,
Like they just decided that Okay, yeah, we made the
decision to not franchise him. We're okay with just getting
a pick at the end of the which is really
a fourth round pick. We're okay with getting one of
those pics and just moving on and having to be
a clean break because no one's gonna get mad at

(39:29):
us because he was bad the last two games of
the season. So that's where I feel like, Okay, all
the arguments I understand, I understand it, but this is
where you dig deeper, and yeah, this is what makes
you a great front office and how you do it
When you can play poker well and say not only hey, we.

Speaker 3 (39:43):
Moved on from him. We got something for him. We've
got more big NFL stuff coming up next Fox
