From the Tirack dot Com Studios Direct dot Com. I

free road hazard protection, and over ten thousand recommended installers.
Tiraq dot com is the way tirebulling should be. Well,
here we are. We're getting to the end of NFL
free agency. Still ot A big news out there is

(01:01):
the games for the tournament week start in college basketball,
and I have to say this right, you know I'm
gonna come in here, Okay, Syracuse smu here He's has
to run the table because we're thirteen and fifty.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
But you know what I found out today. I did
not know this. That Bud documentary was just released that
says that Jim Morrison of The Doors, who died in
nineteen seventy four, seventy two, seventy four, So Jim Morrison
is alive and living as a maintenance man in Syracuse,

(01:34):
really where he has been. He is a maintenance man
in Syracuse. I read a little bit. I didn't. I
didn't see the document I read a TikTok I watched
TikTok about the documentary. Apparently a documentary says that, uh,
he somehow met a guy who and he was able
to gain his identity or something like that, and I
need kill him. He killed the guy, just like in
so many movies. T she was just able to just

(01:55):
assume the guy's identity for a reason I don't know.
And he's living and he's a ma It's man in Syracuse.
Jim Morrison. Well, I mean, given the fact that they
sold tons of albums after his death, yeah yeah they did. Yeah, right,
I mean they were popular. But then but if then
you could live off the residuals, you know, with your
estate being given to some random pro who is that guy?

(02:15):
Don't know. It's actually Jim Morris. Why is Frank and
skinny Atlas guy getting all of this money? I don't
know so July third, nineteen seventy one. But if if
you're the date of his path because they say Elvis
lives upstairs in Graceland, Okay, sure, but if they go
and visit him up there, if you're getting the money,
you probably don't need to work. But that's not well,
but maybe maybe you're just bored. Okay, all right, he'd

(02:36):
already done and made your living as a poet. So
what are you gonna do in retirement? It's not gonna
go working on us. Jut, it's like a real life goodwill. Honey.
He's doing he's doing instead of math problems on the board,
he's writing song lyrics. Yeah, that's it. Hey, okay, who
came to the class I'm right and wrote this? You
know that I would be untrue? Who wrote that? Someone?
Tell me who wrote that? Who wrote it? Come on,
come on, somebody tough. You think it's a janitor? You

(02:59):
think I'm gonna go get stelling stars guard to watch Goodwille.
Come on, not gonna happen? Tell me who wrote that?
Tell me who wrote that? Yeah? I mean so, you know,
while Feliciano had some other things, like he he did
a version of one of those uh New York Galla
things honoring Sting that didn't go over quite so well.
His version of by Fire was really no. Wait, wait

(03:20):
which Sting the wrestler or the singer? The singer he
was still in the balcony. Wrestler knows the Sting the singer? Nobody.
He's doing another album and tour with Shaggy wait Sting
the singer? Wait, okay, hang on, so wait, so it's
Sting the singer or w w E so Sting and

(03:40):
it's Shaggy the character from Scooby Doo or the singer
say these things?

Speaker 2 (03:45):
Wasn't me?

Speaker 1 (03:45):
Guy? Okay? Yes, So they've collaborated for years and they've
done tours and albums. They've come together again for another
single Sting from the police and singer and Shaggy wasn't me.

Speaker 3 (03:59):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
They've they're I bring and actually doing a bunch of
press like they've been on all the late night talk
shows and whatever else. Yeah, we played the music, but
it's horrible, Reggy says, it wasn't me bro bro bro
ro ro, whereas Steve, Steve the Wrestler has said this
is the final year that he will do any appearances
with makeup on. Okay, so kind of like kissed it

(04:21):
all those years ago and then they realized how much money. Yeah, okay,
so Sting the Wrestler, no doubt a year from now
will be like, eh, you know what, not as many
people coming. When I'm standing here as Steve Borden, it's
like all as opposed to stink. It's like all the
Motley Creue retirement concerts. This is this is our last. Well.
This is it. We're this is our last. Okay, we'll

(04:42):
do another well. And then they because they claimed it
was like all right, makes a bad health and this
and that, and then they kicked him out of the
band and said, out of hell with it. We're gonna
keep too.

Speaker 4 (04:52):
We're locked.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
The tirect dot com studios direct dot com help you
get there and unmatched election, fast free shipping, free road
hazard protection, and over ten thousand recommended installers. Tyrack dot
com is the way tire buying should be.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
Well.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
Yes day three in NFL Free Agency, we are still
waiting for what we thought was going to be one
of the big stories today because we've been on a
great schedule. Right we had two quarterbacks on Monday, we
had Daniel Jones yesterday. Great. Now we have Aaron Rodgers
and Russell Wilson ready to go today. Aaron Rodgers officially
released by the New York Jets at four pm. No

(05:27):
decision for both of them. We got Mike Williams going
back to the Chargers. Another nice move for them, charge
charge making us some nice little sneaky moves here, although
they should have got Havn ingram eron Ingram to the
to the Broncs is a big deal. But still waiting
for the next shoot a drop for Aaron Rodgers and
for Russell might be waiting a while. And I want
to say this. I want to say this because you know,

(05:49):
the last couple of days, this Sam Darnold Vikings take
that we've had people hate incredibly viral has been insane
and mainly a lot of people that you know Vikings
fans are disagree with my take that the big Hey,
how do you let the guy come in, do what
he did and walk out and you don't get anything
for him? You get a compensation pick that's basically a
fourth round pick.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
Ah.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
That's so I get it. Yes, that's because that's exactly
the value of a quarterback that throws thirty five touchdowns,
four thousand yards, goes to a Pro Bowl, leads you
to fourteen and three. That's the exact value. What's loss
for everybody here, though, is that you got back on
the Sam Donald bandwagon with this take. Because remember as
soon as it was Sam Sam Sam saying I could
play the tape, Yeah, celebrated everything and it was Sam

(06:31):
Donald's gonna be the greatest thing. And then as soon
as he was no longer a jet, I mean he
was Paully and good Fellas three thousand bucks for a lifetime.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
Ah.

Speaker 1 (06:40):
Now, And this is why I bring this up again
because I want to say this right, because I want
to say this, and I don't care one way or another,
but I think this should what happened if the Vikings
sign Aaron Rodgers, because the two teams we've been hearing
for Aaron Rodgers so far has been the Steelers are
the giants, right, that's me Steelers giants. The same thing
for Russell Wilson Steelers, Giant Steelers Giants. Vikings have been

(07:03):
a team that we've seen. Some insiders say, that's where
he really wants to go. That's why I'm like, really,
the dude wants to do exactly what Brett Farve did.
Come on, man, it's funny. It was. It was a
good story for us because it would be some comedy tonight.
It would be insane tragedy tomorrow, comedy tonight. But there's
a lot of insiders and seeing reports that Rogers and
the Vikings, they are waiting for some kind of mutual

(07:24):
interest for Rogers to go to the Vikings. And I'm
saying to myself, so he wants to go there where
Allegedly there they love JJ McCarthy and they want him
to be the quarterback so much so they told Sam Darnold, Hey,
we're gonna let you go for nothing. We'll get a
compic for you. Good luck, Sam, and then we're gonna
go spend all that money on all these because they've

(07:45):
done a great job in free agency. They did, but
they could have signed Darnold a week and a half,
two weeks ago, to have franchised him and traded him.
You didn't have to wait until the first day of
free ag There is another thing that all the vikings maan, oh,
but look at the money. We spect. Yeah, you could
have done this anytime in the two weeks before, if
you could have franchised him yet up till March fourth
to make the decision, you could have franchised him. Taken

(08:06):
two weeks to figure things out. But no, no, no,
nobody wants to see the facts. Okay, that's fine. I
had forty million. They might have been stuck now, which
wouldn't have been the worst. The Seahawks gave him one
hundred million, he wouldn't have been stuck at forty million.
They still get right, But they didn't want to give
him forty eight. Okay, forty million for a year, and
the six say okay, how about three years and one
hundred and ten? But the guarantee is only fifty five, right,

(08:27):
but three years they and still could have done that.
They still wanted him that bad. They still could have
found out a way to say, okay, well it's forty
it's seven million more than we wanted to spend. But again,
we're upsetting the apple card of our franch We're trading
away our quarterback, we're bringing you and we're making your
guy for three years they would have been okay, swallowing
it ex Jets that we're having these arguments somewhere in

(08:47):
the bowels of the you know your's stomach. It's a
it's a bit of queasiness that the rest of the
world now wants the guys you your team couldn't figure
out how to make work. What people don't know is
every free agent signed this offseason has been with the Jets. Yeah,
every single one, no matter what he was with the Jets.
But I want to say this, that is what I

(09:08):
want to say this right, is that if the Vikings
sign Aaron Rodgers and so, their strategy was, Okay, we
have a twenty seven year old quarterback who was one
of the top three quarterbacks in the conference, great year.
We could have kept him for a year and for
we could have kept him. No, no, no, we're gonna
let him go because we love the guy behind him

(09:30):
so much. Okay, we love him so much. We're gonna
bring in an older guy not as good to be
the quarterback until he's ready. If they do that, every
single person, every single person's commented in my time this
you owe ami apology or b get off Twitter. If
that happens, then you have absolutely zero leg to stand

(09:53):
on friending because now it's yeah, we watched a guy
come in who is great and decided, oh yeah, yeah,
for a year, we're gonna have a guy that's worse
and is older and we don't know what he has
left any and that's our decision. Like, if that's what
the Vikings wind up doing, yes, apologies and everybody leaves.
And by this point Twitter would go out of business
because I think everybody is commented on this, So that's

(10:14):
what would happen. I want everybody if the Vikings do that,
I mean, I don't know. I don't what you could
say to defend that franchise. I have no I don't
want to Sam, but we'll let Rogers come in. Oh
but not JJ, so not so. Not only would it
not be Donald or JJ McCarthy, it's door number three
of a forty year old quarterback that nobody else wants.
Nobody else wants. Okay, great works, Yeah, but the general

(10:37):
rule of thumb is someone wants to be the smartest
guy in the room. How does that make you the
smartest guy in the room. I know, what does it
mean that you are? But you want to convince yourself
that you can do something, and we've seen the reclamation projects.
That's what Sam Donald was with O'Connell right that he
had a little bit of a run with one of
the quarterback gurus. So it's like, all right, now we're

(10:59):
gonna take him and if we have to break glass
in case of emergency, we can make him something. And
then he goes out and has a monster year. So
if you're O'Connell and you're the Vikings, and now you've
built this roster and we can go through and do
the dramatic reading of all of their acquisitions in the
post Sam hours, because it's been plentiful, like they've done
a lot of work for the roster. Is you're taking

(11:22):
Aaron Rodgers out his word, it'd be curious to see
what the dollar value is, right if he signs in
the mid twenties or something like that, or thirty million dollars,
And he's really looking to be that mentor for JJ McCarthy.
Because all along, my whole thing is are we sure
that physically JJ McCarthy's gonna be ready to go? Didn't
he have to have a second procedure to clean up
whatever that happened, and he's gonna be surgery. He decided

(11:43):
we don't want Sam Donald. We're okay with him, oh now,
but now we want somebody else. This is like, here's
what the Vikings are doing. Say I'm the Vikings, and
you come and you go, Jason, here's the best sandwich
I could possibly make for you in the time, right,
because he's getting samed. Okay, what is Edit's got perscudo
and it's got horse radish and cheddar cheese, and it's
got onions that are so crisp and they're so tasty,

(12:06):
and it's on the softest bread possible. And I can
then go here, you can have the whole sandwich. And
I'm like, okay, great, and I take a few bites
of that sandwich. I go, wow, this sandwich is really good.
I got three quarters of that sandwich, Like, this is
the best You're right, this is the best sandwich I
could possibly I can't believe this is so great. Great,
So you're gonna finish it? No, no, no, no no,
I'm not gonna have any more of it, and I'm
gonna push it to the side. Well, you want to

(12:28):
save it for later, Nope, I want to throw it away.
I'm gonna take it and just put it in the trash.
There you go, boom, I can't have anymore. Well, what
do you want and stead for the rest of my meal?
I want that old sandwich that was in there. It
was stuck in all the way in the back. That's
got the crust on it, and maybe the bread is
really staale a little bit and the meat is kind
of dried out. Bring me that. That's the sandwich I
want to have. That's what I want to fight. But

(12:48):
you had that. Yeah, No, I know I had that, well,
but I don't want it anymore. I want that. I
want that instead. That's the decision. Some folks choose a
harder path, and it might be like Homer Simpson, Oh, sandwich,
I can't stay mad at you. This new sandwich could
never possibly compare to what you were. And he's every
fight he takes he goes, oh, and that it's in
the trash and it's he's turning. Yeah, but he can't

(13:12):
be mad. But the idea with Rogers is that you
get whatever like, because look that's been the hyperbole of
his last six or seven weeks of the season. Look
how much better he was look at those two big
games against Miami and Jacksonville that inflated his second half
stats to get him where he was. Look at his
final stats, because all of a sudden, we're back of

(13:34):
the football card. As we talk about all the time,
we're reading those numbers and ignoring everything else he did.
But that's fine. But the hey, he could be a
great mentor and he's ready to be that guy for
your club, as opposed to I'm gonna stab that guy
in the heart and I'm gonna take his job, which
is exactly what Aaron Rodgers is looking to do. This

(13:54):
is this is it would be the aby I I
really it would be. Okay, we need to have an
intervention with to run a football team if that. But
you hear so many Rogers and the Vikings, Rodgers and
the Vikings, Rodgers and the Vikings. Okay, okay, it's it
was a fun theory and now it might actually come
to fruition completing the Brett fav trilogy. So great, apologize

(14:16):
and leave Twitter in that order. They'll come back. They'll
come back like a Hydra with four other accounts to

Aaron Rodgers portion of the equation of NFL free agency

(16:47):
a few minutes ago. Is here we are you a
day three, Day three of NFL free agency and me
what a lot of teams said, Well, they've said that
to him before and saying it again like doubling down. Yeah,
I mean, and you wonder why he was so okay
to stay with the Jets. I'll do anything to stay
with the Jet. I really want to stay. Really, he
knows nobody wants them, right, But potentially there could be

(17:09):
a landing spot for him. I don't know that there's
a landing spot for Russell Wilson. And we may have
seen him play his last down in the NFL unless
he's willing to go some place as a backup, a
true backup coming in. This is our guy, and if
something happens, maybe you can get in there. And I
don't think and look and guys like Russell Wilson that
are Hall of famers at the end, that's when you

(17:29):
just walk away. Because think about it this way, when
you're looking at the teams that need a quarterback, right,
the teams at the very top of the draft, Titans,
and the Browns and the Giants. Right, they all do Okay,
Titans have shown no interest in Russell Wilson. Wilson went
to visit the Browns. But are the Browns really gonna
do that when they pick second? Probably not. There's a

(17:50):
quarterback there for them, that's more. Is he Russell Wilson
trying to just you know, get interest out because the
two teams that he would be the fit for are
the Steelers and the Giants. And that's it, right, Steelers
and Giants. That's it. And for all of this, he
could go back to Pittsburgh. If the Steelers really wanted him,
they'd have signed him already, right, they decided brought him back.

(18:11):
He was a Steeler, he's here, he's a free agency.
You don't let your quarterback hang out there if you
want to bring him back, if he really wanted to be,
if this Steelers really wanted him back as much as
Mike Tomlin loved him, maybe there was a big intervention
of some kind and they said, Mike, dude, you know
this guy really isn't great, Okay, get off my back.
I'm not gonna admit I was wrong. Just okay, fine.

(18:32):
If they wanted Russell Wilson, they would have him, And
the same is true with the Giants. If the Giants
wanted Russell Wilson, they would have signed him because it's
an easy signing for Russell Wilson. Right For the Giants,
it's easy because they could say, well, okay, we need
somebody because we're picking third. We like to think a
quarterback we like is going to be there. But maybe

(18:52):
we don't like Schador Sanders as much as everybody thinks
we do, but we need somebody. So Russell Wilson would
clearly be either the bridge guy to get us to
Shador Sanders if we wind up taking him, or maybe
cam war drops because you know, Abdul Carter goes one
and Travis Hunter goes to I mean probably not, but
it covers us. We have the we have the veteran

(19:12):
to get us to Shador Sanders or the veteran to
get us to whoever we want that we take in
the second round of the draft, because they pick early second,
which is where guys like.

Speaker 4 (19:20):
Milroe and Youers and McCord and.

Speaker 1 (19:22):
Jackson Dart is moving on. I keep saying mc cordy,
I keep dying. I still think I think he's still
at the back end of the first what it's all said, Yeah,
it could be right, but but the Giants can easily
then move from early in the second round move up,
so they would have that covered. They don't want to
go in with what they have right now, which I
think is Joe Pisarcik. So it's your buddy Tommy Cuts.
I mean, they didn't re up him the other day,

(19:42):
so you know you got that going for you. So
that that's to me, that's the biggest key to everything
is what are the Giants gonna do if they believe
they're gonna get a quarterback or if maybe they don't
trust this regime to make that quarterback pick, because you
wonder what's going on behind closed doors there right We
saw the hard knocks last year. Ma comes down, it says, boy,
I got a real problem if Saquon Barkley goes to

(20:03):
the Egel. Now we know we're doing we know we're doing.
Uh okay, maybe you don't. So maybe hey, Shane and
and and uh and Dable are back, but we're not
gonna allow you to pick another quarterback, so you got
to figure something else out here, and there could I
wouldn't be surprised if there was a big discrepancy between
the we got to get a quarterback early, we have
to wait and draft one, and the you know in

(20:24):
a year when whatever one of our guys come, when
we get a new regime in here, whatever it is
there's got there's gotta be some sort of friction going
on and a battle in New York about what they're
gonna do a quarterback. But clearly, no matter what they
decide to do, Russell Wilson would be the guy. Right
Aaron Rodgers is not gonna go to the Giants, they're
not interested in him, but Wilson's the guy. It's either

(20:44):
Wilson or you're figuring some some kind of crazy ass
trade out, or you're waiting for the draft and you're
tanking for arch Manning, whatever it is. So for Russell Wilson,
if these teams wanted him, they would have gotten him already.
You see how fast teams move on quarterbacks. Darnold was
out there for eight minute, justin feels out there for
nine minutes. Daniel Jones been everybody wait a day, or
maybe Roger Adel said, hey, dude, can you wait a

(21:05):
day so we can have the new cycle? Yeah, sure,
that's fine. I mean, these guys come off the board
really fast, and now they're out there for a reason.
So while Rogers seems to have a little more heat,
I really wonder if that's it for Russell Wilson, because
I don't see where else the fit's gonna be. Yeah,
the obvious fit was me to go back to Pittsburgh
from a pure playing style and aptitude, right because Russell Wilson.

(21:26):
What did we hear all the time we talked about
it a little bit last night when you were sad
for these two guys. I still am sad. I still
am sad that it's ending with them looking so desperate.
They're sweaty with their hats in their hands and they're
wringing their hands, going do you have a job for me?
Do you have a job? They're all lukabratzia going into
the dawn on the Hey, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. During
this busy time of free agency, I have to ask

(21:49):
you for a favor, but I really need to do that.
That's the day, I mean they can't refuse a favor.
So if you have one that you need, I mean,
that's the day to do it. I may feel, you
know you're gonna pay a heavy price in the end,
but Hall of Fame career shouldn't end like this, with
this being so desperate to stay well. But it's the
decision of what's your expiration day? Right, Not everybody's Tom

(22:10):
Brady where we're playing into our forties, or Warren Moon
who didn't get a shot till he was forty, or
all of those kinds of things. Obviously I exaggerate, but
the point being that, you know, we've just gotten so
accustomed in all these sports of guys playing much longer.
I mean, Drew Brees at the end, what did he
have left? Peyton Manning at the end, what did he

(22:30):
have left? When when we're getting toward turning the odometer
over for Aaron Rodgers, we had a pretty good half
a season for Russell Wilson. You had a couple of
good weeks. A lot of reports that he and Arthur Smith,
who I think you could throw over the side of
the boat and go find another OC. But that's just me.
But look at those cuddlefish where whoa. But the reports

(22:50):
that he and Arthur Smith did not get along is
obviously not helping his cause to come back to Pittsburgh.
The Russell Wilson side of it. With the Giants, it's
the all right, Pat Shermer was their coach in twenty nineteen, right,
he was the guy that had the Daniel Jones the
beginning of that experiment, and then for Dable and for

(23:11):
Shane it was all right, you'll either fix him and
it'll be you get to carry him to the next level,
have this success like he did with Josh Allen. Well,
unfortunately the guy got hurt, including a couple of really
severe injuries like neck injuries are no joke, right, We
watched that. Whenever a guy gets that on his report
card for the end of the year, it's like, all right,

(23:31):
are we trusting this going forward? And they decided to
move on. So is Dabel that guy or are they
supposed to bring in a placeholder for a year because
they like the twenty twenty six draft that much more.
You mentioned Archie Manning. We talk about it all the time,
all the other quarterbacks that will be in that class
that maybe everybody likes a little bit more and so

(23:54):
you're thinking, we have a roster that's only gonna be
so good no matter who we bring in, be it rookie,
be it veteran. And for Mara again, you know what,
you could have just ordered them pay Saquon Barkley whatever
the hell he wants. Okay, you're the owner. You could
have done that, right, You could have done that. You didn't,
and they would have still stunk because I like, all

(24:14):
of a sudden, Barkley is playing on a dust. But
that's the thing behind Andrew tom Oh wait, he got hurt,
and the rest of the offensive line was if I
say the word pedestrian, we all know what I mean. Okay,
So that's kind of where we're at in this process.
I look at it like this, and and this is
how I am sure teams like Pittsburgh and the Giants

(24:34):
are looking at Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson. Are they
near the end? Yes? Do we want to be in
on them a year early? We don't want to be
on them a year too late. And last year might
have been the final year where you got the best
that you're going to get from both of those players.
Because Aaron Rodgers MVP is still MVP player up until

(24:56):
a couple of years ago. He goes to the Jets,
he gets hurt, he comes back, he does have a
nice back half of the year, right top ten in touchdowns,
top ten in yards, but you see that he's not
really the same guy. So now another year and you
think you're gonna get that same production or is this
the year where he just looks like he's finished when
you're in the middle of week two, And it's the

(25:17):
same thing for Russell Wilson. Hey, here he is third team.
He had a little bit of something left in the
middle of the season where he played where he played okay,
and he sparked him up. But then he saw the
end of the season, Russell Wilson was done. And I
get why the stock is higher on Rogers because he
had a better end of the season than Russell Wilson did.
But it's the same philosophy of Boyd was that the
last hurrah for Wilson was that little bit of run

(25:39):
he had middle of the season when Mike Tomlin is
s thumping, is just going, this is why I do
what I do, That's why I die, why I get
paid what I do. Right now, we want do we
want to get in for this year which could be
again awful and he could be washed, And why did
we do this? So that that's the big debate that's
happening right now. And if the side of let's go
get these guys was winning again, we'd see them somewhere.

(25:59):
But for Wilson especially, that's the thing where I don't know.
I don't know where things can go. I don't know
where the fit is. If it's not one of these
two teams that could have had him already, I we
may just sit out or decide I'll be a backup.
I don't I don't think that's Russell Wilson's I don't
think that's part of his moo. It shouldn't be part
of your remo when you can't do it anymore, when

(26:21):
you're a Hall of Fame player, you can't do it
and say, Okay, you know I did as long as
I could. It's time for me to go. I'm not
going to be this diminished version of myself. Whoever long
it is just to stay in the game. Right now,
Is Russell Wilson a Hall of Famer eight seven, seven ninety.
I mean Aaron Rodgers most certainly his sure is Russell Wilson.
I think he was on the path too. Yeah, and
and and he's got a super Bowl, right, he's got
a super Bowl. He was you know, almost had too.

(26:44):
But this is this guy's had all picked. Well. No,
well it's it's not his fault because they should have
taken the ball out of his hands. It was a
bad pass. He gets, he gets more of a pass,
and he should for throwing that ridiculous pass that was
off target the bat. But anyway, it's more about playing
call because you don't throw a pass like that. We'll
ask Jason called that you know about Russe Wilson's Hall
of Fame, but that that's how it. There's a certain

(27:07):
standard you need to to own up to and live
up to when you're that kind of player. And it's
it's just it's embarrassing for you, it's embarrassing for us
that it doesn't. Nobody wins. But if you think you
still have juice and a couple of years ago, the stats, right,
Wilson put up stats for Denver, were they empty that
he makes a lot of bad decisions? Yes, he was

(27:29):
not very good years ago, and then last year wasn't
even as good as that year. But if you still
think you're better than that guy, that guy. Look, we
always talk about how long retirement is. Like if you
could find someone that's still gonna cut you a check
to keep doing the gig, whatever, whatever the job is,
if you can find that team and it may smack
completely of desperation on their part that you're still there.

(27:51):
Like Cleveland's a couple of years removed from being a
playoff team. Now it took Kevin Stefanski pulling the string
like the greatest puppeteers that we've ever scene, the greatest
marionette right where we finally we got Joe Flacco off
the leaping couch to get that team through. So Miles
Garrett took the giant bag. He stays tough division, no question,

(28:12):
But Cleveland, I mean. And Captain Kirk's over there in Atlanta,
he's the wild card and all of this, he's that
guy sitting in It's like Roman Reigns came in. You
had cm punk fighting the other night against Seth Rollins,
and all of a sudden Rains comes running in to
create chaos. It's the same thing Captain Kirk sitting over
there and he's torched everything in Atlanta by Oh, yeah,
I was hurt. I was hurt. They didn't you know,

(28:34):
you weren't on the injury report. And when asked about
it by local media, Hey, I you know, I'm just
here like I'm not doing media right now, he basically
thumbed his nose at them. And while they say, hey,
he'll be the backup, he's still in play. He's still
circulating and waiting to run into the ring. Well, to
go back to earlier with your sting analogy, he's up

(28:56):
in the rafters with the baseball bat, ready to charge
at any time. Here your foot, But I'm gonna I'm
gonna counteract with this that yes, you may think you
can still do it, but in the end, it's not
you that gets to the side.

Speaker 3 (29:07):
Right.

Speaker 1 (29:08):
I always, I always go back to the to Ron
Darling pitch for the Mets in the a's long time,
and and I remember asking him one saying, hey, when
did you know it was time to retire? And he
said I didn't. The hitters told when it was time
to retire. In this case, this is the NFL telling
Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson it's time to retire, but
as of now, but they don't have teams. But as

(29:29):
of now, they they're still empty seats. They don't have teams,
but they could have them if you want it. But
his Pittsburgh gonna run with Mason Rudolph coming back if
they're gonna, I mean, obviously, did you do a run
run Rudolph?

Speaker 3 (29:40):
There?

Speaker 1 (29:40):
I like, I like that run run Rudolf. Do you
like the Chuck Barrier the Keith Richards version Chuck Berry
is better Mozle, But yeah, think about Frostburg. How bad
is Aaron Rodgers literally eight forty for him not to
play there? Following in the footsteps of that's how bad

(30:01):
Russell Wilson eating forty nine million dollars? How many Hamburgers?
That is a lot lot in New York. It's like
forty nine hamburgers a less Yeah, well, yeah, especially with
the Kobe beef, it's that bad or the lagu or
maybe maybe get some that gold flake nonsense that they
like to do. So just get right. This could have
been the end. We might have already seen the end
of Russell Wilson. Oh you had a good run. Speed

Speaker 4 (30:45):
I thought you were going to say a marrying and
beautiful pop star.

Speaker 1 (30:48):
But I heard about the highees thing you like to
do when you fly back and forth to Detroit, so
I said that instead. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (30:53):
Yeah, it's Spirit Airlines.

Speaker 1 (30:55):
Jeery Swiftly, I stink it's going way. Do I think
that's allowed? I think that's one hundred percent allowed. You
can buy it. No, he's got to pay extra to
do that on Spirit Spear.

Speaker 4 (31:04):
Is that what it is?

Speaker 1 (31:05):
Do you want a seat on Spirit or do you
want the thirty the highies at thirty thousand feet seats?

Speaker 3 (31:08):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (31:09):
I want that, Okay, great, we have three. You gotta
pay extra do that on Southwest now too.

Speaker 5 (31:12):
Apparently, and you can't even check a towel. No, you
can't even check a towel to wipe off. The Oklahoma
City thunderbeat the Boston Celtics in Boston tonight, just Boston's
twelfth home I mean twelve home loss of the year.

Speaker 3 (31:24):
No.

Speaker 4 (31:25):
One, eighteen to one twelve.

Speaker 5 (31:26):
Shay Gildess Alexander with thirty four points, seven assists, and.

Speaker 4 (31:31):
Uh, let's see chet home. We're gonna have to double double.

Speaker 5 (31:33):
Jason Tatum thirty three points, eight rebounds, eight assists in
the loss.

Speaker 4 (31:38):
Right now, two games going on.

Speaker 5 (31:39):
The timber Wolves leading the Nuggets twenty eight to twenty two.
You'll coach with an eleven points randal. Leading the Bowls
was six at the end of the first quarter. The
next lead the Troil Blazers twenty six to twenty one.
Clar Anthony Towns has six points. Games that already got
wrapped up games a note. The Clippers beat the Heat
one nineteen to one oh four. Bognon Bogdanoviits with thirty
one points on eleven rebounds. The Rockets beat the Suns

(32:02):
one eleven to one oh four. Bradley Beal with twenty
five points in a losing effort. Jalen Green with twenty nine,
seven and three and a fight here is Mason Plumbley
and Steven Adams got into a back and forth and
it's like a real NBA back and forth. Like if
you look at the still of the video on ESPN
dot com right now, Mason Plumbley is a form tackling

(32:22):
Steven Adams. So it's not just your average Hey, no,
you hold me back, hold me back?

Speaker 4 (32:27):
No, no, no, they could have used him holding back here.

Speaker 1 (32:29):
He's lucky he got an older Steven Adams, like Stephen Addam,
like a few years ago, Steve. That wouldn't have been close.
Oh yeah, I would not have been close. Steven Adams
is a guy if you ask for his autograph, he
waits for you to say please. So what's he gonna
do when he's in a scuffle with a guy is
getting after it.

Speaker 5 (32:44):
Spurs beat the Mavericks one twenty six to one to
sixteen dearon Fox with thirty two points and eleven assists.
The Seahawks just came to terms with DeMarcus Lawrence, who
previously played his last eleven seasons in Dallas. He's now
got a three year year thirty two and a half
a million dollar deal eighteen million guaranteed.

Speaker 4 (33:04):
We saw.

Speaker 5 (33:06):
Damar Hamlin went back on a two year I went
a one year deal to two million.

Speaker 4 (33:10):
Dollars with Buffalo. Mac Jones is going to join the.

Speaker 5 (33:13):
Jacksonville Jaguars on a two year contract with five million
dollars guaranteed. I think seven and a seven million overall,
and I had one more here. Here you go, Mike
Williams back to la former Chargers wide receiver. He moved
on and went to the Jets and the Steelers. Last
year we were back in Los Angeles, six million.

Speaker 4 (33:33):
Dollars the max on that one year deal. Back to
you guys, Thanks.

Speaker 1 (33:36):

(34:39):
of a Syracuse game and now you don't even care. Dude,
we're fourteen and nineteen. Unless we run the table, which
is gonna happen, We're not going to the postseason. Man
The long road begins with the first step we're taking.
For arch Manning. This is the worst season Syracuse basketball
has had in fifty years, fifty fifteen, fifty four years

(35:02):
in a row of no NCAA tournament like that. Syracuses,
Syracuses and sports stone hens. Right, boy, they used to
be really People cared about them. They were a big deal.
But I don't remember why. Like that's Syracuse basketball now. Well,
but again, you gotta rise back up. I mean Beaheim's
got to get out there and get the message. No, no, no,
you know what it is is next year is Carmelo's
kid has to be the guy to bring He's got
to be the guy all these years later, because if not,

(35:24):
they may justice band the basketball program playing. We're a
football school? Are we completely a football that? Is that
what we're selling? Yeah? What we are because earlier today
I got I got the to have the glory even
though they couldn't hit a free throw to save their
souls of a Northwestern victory in the first round of
the Big Ten. Turn coversitions on that. Yeah, where you're
purple with pride differ one more day? You know we're
in purple tonight. How come it's a victory day for you?

(35:46):
You're entirely in black tonight? You're Johnny Cash. Why are
you wearing all black? Why is there no purple tonight?
I don't know. I lost. This should be a knight,
you should I do have my purple shoes on em Yeah, right,
I guess that. But no, no, but you were to
wear those anyway, like this should have been what you decide.
I'm gonna I had my Travis Matthew blackshoes earlier victory Wednesday.

(36:06):
I'm gonna come in victory winning again, victory Wednesday in purple,
and then they're gonna beat Wisconsin tomorrow and I'm gonna
be ensconced in purple there. Okay, then are you really?
Are you gonna not do it?

Speaker 3 (36:15):
You?

Speaker 1 (36:15):
Sure?

Speaker 4 (36:16):
Okay?

Speaker 3 (36:16):
All right?

Speaker 1 (36:17):
Beat the Badgers? Are you kidding me? Sure?

Speaker 4 (36:19):
Okay?

Speaker 1 (36:19):
Let's go now Day three in NFL free agency. You
thought all the quarterback drama was either behind us or
waiting on Rogers and Russell Wilson. However, some fun stuff
has emerged from the Falcons when it comes to Kirk Cousins.
Oh yeah, forgot about Kirk captain Kirk Oh, I remember

(36:39):
we talked about him all last off season and now
he's not good anymore. Yeah. No, Kirk Cousins. That's a
guy who's just sitting there staring at a pile of
money and laughing at everybody. His name is not come
up once, not in trade, not in playing someplace else,
not sources Team X calling for Kirk Cousins. No, no, no, no,
Why Well, he's seen a couple reports today that the

(37:01):
Falcons aren't lying and not bluffing when they say, we
are absolutely okay with having Kirk Cousins one more year,
and even though he's gonna be the backup, we have
told him he's going to be the backup. We're eminently
okay with that. Now, are they really okay with it? No,
because they don't want to carry this cap charge on
him for guys gonna be your backup quarterback. It's just stupid.

(37:21):
But they were stupid last year by saying, okay, here
Kirk Cousins, here's all this money. Oh, now we're gonna
get Michael Penick Junior. So they don't want to really
appear stupid two years in a row, so they're gonna
do something more stupid, which is keep Kirk Cousins, even
though it's not good for Michael Pennock's development. If suddenly
the guy that was the starter is now in the
backup there, that never works anywhere. So the Falcons saying

(37:43):
we don't want to be stupid two years in a row,
what they're really doing is being more stupid than they
would be. What they're doing, what I hope is they
are pushing putting it to Cousins saying dude, we can't
move you. Nobody wants this contract that would that would
be due to you. Right, we have dead coming our way,
but it's fine. It's not something that we have to
really worry about. But this money you are due, nobody

(38:06):
wants that. So if you want to start somewhere, we
got to figure this money thing out. We got to
figure this out somehow. And that's what they're doing. That's
all they can do because everybody else is said, Hey,
Aaron Rodgers is free, right, Russell Wilson is free, Daniel
Daniel Jones was a short deal. Justin Field's a short deal.
Sam Darnold got the longest of any of them. It's

(38:26):
three years, right, So these guys are all for Kirk Cousins. Now,
it's a lot of money for three more years that
you don't know how good the guy is. But would
teams take take a flyer in it? Absolutely, But the
money is so prohibitive, and the fact that he was
injured allegedly and playing badly and got bench last year,
what else do you want to do? The Falcons are
just stuck right now, and the only thing you can

(38:47):
do is let's try to play poker and figure out
the money. Right, because that was the whole thing with
Aaron Rodgers and the Jets two years ago. I'm old
enough to remember when it was, Oh, they'll never happen.
They got to figure out the money. You can't do it.
They can't do it. It's too much money, too much money,
too much dead guy, too much, just too much time. Hey,
what happened? The Green Bay Packers figured out a way
to trade Aaron Rodgers to the Jets and the money
worked out for both sides. Right, able to figure it out,

(39:09):
So you can figure something out with Kirk Cousins. But
this is what they're telling him. Dude, we can't. We
can't move you right now. And if you want to
stay here as the backup quarterback and you're not gonna play,
that's the reality. So this is where Kirk Cousins has
to decide, what do I want? What can I do
to try to get someplace where I can actually start? Yeah,
the Atlanta I'm sorry the Browns beat writer for the

(39:31):
Athletic Zach Jackson or the athletic beat writer for the
Browns putting out the idea. Yes, that Cousins likely goes
and reunites with Stefanski in Cleveland here in short order,
He's got a ten million dollar roster bonus due on Monday,
so perhaps over the weekend we get some activity and

(39:52):
where Comra they come to and agree on a price
to where as you say, with Aaron Rodgers, cammerheads prevail
and they move on. Now he's done everything he can
to talk his way out of the situation again, trying
to make the Falcons look bad with their use of
him down the stretch that trying to excuse that one

(40:14):
touchdown nine interception stretch as Hey, I wasn't bad. They
were putting me out there and I was playing hurt.
I was taking one for the team. I e. Michael
wasn't ready. So I'm still going out there, as opposed
to the Falcon side of it, saying he practiced all week,
he wasn't on the injury report, but one week and
now he's gonna come to Super Bowl week and in

(40:36):
his first media he's gonna try to torpedo us. So yeah,
it's a terrible situation. Yeah, I mean this is what
they're doing looking stupid right now, yes, and doubling down
on looking stupid. You think we can look we can
look more stupid. You're gonna lose this poker game with
Kirk Cousins. He's in the Business Hall of Fame. Exit
ab out of Fresco, Exit swalling down. Jason Smith, Mike

He is on Twitter at Jason Cole sixty two. That is,

(42:22):
at Jason Cole sixty two. He is working on the
biographies of Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson. Concurrently, he joins
us Now for a few minutes, what's happening, Bud.

Speaker 3 (42:35):
They're strong sellers right now?

Speaker 1 (42:37):
Yeah? Sure, hey both. I mean really, you know, Jake Cole,
when we sit here the end of day three of
free agency and all this talk about Rogers and Wilson,
and I just keep saying to myself, if somebody wanted
both of those guys, they would have probably had him
by now, wouldn't they, Like I said, sound like Russell

(43:00):
Russell Wilson. If the Steelers wanted him, they really would have.
Had the Giants wanted him, they really would have signed him.
Somebody else would have figured out a deal with Aaron
Rodgers knowing he was going to be released. Then what
happened by now? No or not at all. I think
he decided he didn't like the tone of your question.
He just didn't want to talk about Rogers and Wilson.

(43:21):
Maybe done. I'm done talking about these guys. I'm done
with them. It's every off season the last three years
it's Rogers and Wilson or legitimately, he went to work
researching a little Golden Books version of his biography. Oh,
Golden Books for I like that. They're making a comeback.
Yeah they are. They are like little display as if
you go to a tar ja or something, you'll find

(43:42):
you want to quit. Golden Book story so good. One
of my friend's house this weekend, we go over to
have lunch, and he's from Philadelphia, and so he's got
a Golden Books Phillies like alphabet, like an alphabet book
for his daughter who's two. So they read the book
and an A is for you know, and they're going
different players. Yeah, they go through the whole thing and
he goes, look at that, had just bought it for

(44:03):
a frame. I said, oh, this is Does it Does
it end with the Lindor Grand slam in the.

Speaker 4 (44:07):
In the n L d S.

Speaker 1 (44:11):
Heartbreak?

Speaker 4 (44:12):
I start flipping through the pages, going does it end
with that?

Speaker 1 (44:14):
Does it end with that? It ends with him fighting
in a postum in the dugout. You should see how
big the rat was. I believe we have Jason Callback
was taking a couple of deep press understand that. Yes,
for the third straight off season, we're gonna have to
talk about Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson.

Speaker 3 (44:31):
I think, isn't it sure?

Speaker 1 (44:34):
Very nice? Okay, very good?

Speaker 4 (44:36):
That's good for Mickey Morandini, sure sure.

Speaker 3 (44:45):
Geez for Gary Matthews. Wow, that's great. Ben Zerbers didn't
play for them, did he? So? And Rogers? What are
we doing? Like, Hey, what are we doing here?

Speaker 1 (45:06):
Wouldn't be if if anybody wanted either of them already?

Speaker 3 (45:10):
No, Well, Aaron's probably going to take his time and
be a bit of a diva and thinking that everybody
in the world wants him and his you know, like,
I don't think Aaron's gotten to the point where he's
figured out that people are tired of the act. And
Russell probably has figured it out because he had to,

(45:31):
you know, he had to settle for the situation in
Pittsburgh last year. But Aaron still has lives in a
certain sense of dissociative reality, and man that I feel
like such a psychotherapist. Good, yeah, but yeah, I think

(45:52):
that Aaron doesn't understand that the world not all that
like him to him anymore. And I would really think,
if I'm Pat McAfee, might be time to pull that contract,
might be not to pay that million dollars a year
because people might not be tuning in as much. Although

(46:13):
you never know. It's served like a car accident waiting
to happen. Look, I think Aaron can still play, or
at least I think there's something there that I would
bet on if I was Pittsburgh and hope for something.

(46:34):
But you know, like, I think he's better than Justin Fields,
which is sort of ironic given the situation that just
played out this week, because obviously the Jets that's agreed,
But it tells you a lot about the Jets that
they were so tired of the Aaron Rodgers world that

(46:54):
they wanted they preferred justin Field to as a backup
for the Steelers and not a very had one. And
as your partner in crime will say, not great when
he was in Chicago either.

Speaker 1 (47:07):
Well, you picked me right up there, Jay Call. Thanks.
I'm rob excited about the season again, Slat.

Speaker 3 (47:12):
You're a Jets fan. Why would you ever be excited
about it? Seeing them.

Speaker 1 (47:16):
Did I tell you? Did I tell? My wife said
to me the other day when when when the Jets
signed Justin Fields, I said, oh, hey, I got to
go back up with a computer. A couple of big
signings just came down. The Jets just got Justin Fields.
And she goes, oh, how do you feel about that?
I go, well, Aaron Rodg named Aaron Glenn's building the culture.
I mean, boy, you can really run the football. Well,
he did some things good last few of you. A

(47:37):
couple of times in Pittsburgh. I'm telling young on, hang on,
love the guys. And I said, you know, and I
feel good about it. Right, he did some good things
good in Pittsburgh last year before he had the job
taken from did some good things. And in Chicago he
ran for a thousand yards. So I feel good you
did not have the job taken there, And she said,
sure he did. Bike Tomlin decided I'm going to give

(47:57):
this job to Russell Wilson was five and two as
a star. Why would you take it rid of your quarterback? No,
give it to Russell Wilson. So anyway, I say this,
and my wife looks at me and says, you say
that every year, you're excited about the Jets quarterback and
every year and every year it doesn't work. And I
said to her, I only have to be right once
about this, that's all. You just have to be right.

Speaker 3 (48:19):
In the world of psychotherapy, where we referred to this
as the Carmazzi syndrome.

Speaker 1 (48:27):
The Ken Dorsey syndrome, whatever.

Speaker 3 (48:29):
Yeah, Carmzi geo is coming back. Oh my god. Like,
I don't know what kind of culture you're building with Jessin.
Like he's a good dude, Like he's a good teammate.
You know, he handled he handled the situation last year
very professionally. But there's a reason they took the job

(48:52):
from him, if you, if I want to grant you
your dissative reality, that they took the job away from him.
Like he just wasn't that good. Like when you don't
see wide receivers in the end zone as they're as
they're you know, becoming open, and they're in the middle
of the field in your line of sight and you

(49:17):
don't see them, that's a problem as a quarterback. I don't,
I don't. This is not deep quarterback analysis, but when
you just don't see them and the guy is open
something's not working, just not just not you know, like
and again I'm not talking about read progressions or anything

(49:38):
else like that. I was wide open in the middle field.
You know, he's running there, he's in, he's right there,
and you don't throw him the ball. I don't know
what else to tell you, Like, it's just not working,
all right.

Speaker 1 (49:52):
That's myel Perry positive in all of this, that we're
all depressed. Why why why.

Speaker 3 (50:00):
Why are you trying to lie to your best friends why?

Speaker 1 (50:04):
Well, no, no, no, I was just going to take
it back out to the thirty thousand foot view of
the NFL and all the money spent this week. No, no, no.
I mean, look, he's got his Jets thing, and I've
got everybody trying to build an arc to carry all
the New Bears fans based on a couple of offensive
linemen showing up. So I gotta deal with that for
the second straight year. Baby Tuney Toney and Jacks and

(50:28):
Dolman and everybody's showing up. So yeah, yeah, So the
bandwagon is really getting overloaded right now, which means you
need to short that. Normally when the public gets on
the side, I was just going to ask you from
the thirty thousand foot view. What team did you get
excited about the moves they made this week?

Speaker 3 (50:48):
I like Denver because I really liked Dray green Law.
I mean, assuming you's healthy, I really like that move.
And I like who he sometimes gets himself out of position,
you know, and gamble little too much on run place
because he wants to come up and hit people. But
I like that and improving and improving those are like,
those are two good buys at a time where you know,

(51:11):
people are throwing a lot of money at guys because
they just have the money. Like I. This is why
I always say to people, like, don't tell me about
the court, you know, the franchise quarterback number being a
real problem anymore. It's not because you can pay all
sorts of guys anywhere between ten and twenty million dollars
a year and you're doing fine. So I like, I

(51:34):
like those moves. I like, you know, New England picked
up a couple of guys who were good, play, good,
solid players. The problem is that like you're just you're
paying guys like their superstars, and the fans expect that
these guys all of a sudden are going to be

(51:56):
serious stars and where it is is the cap has
gotten so big, where two and eighty one million dollars
this year, you're paying a lot of you know, like
average starters ten, fifteen, even twenty million dollars a year,
and so there's too much of an expectation on those
guys and not enough perspective. So I worry a little
bit about like about that, Like when Sam Darnold is

(52:19):
rated as the fourth best player on the free agent market,
that tells you that the free agent market is really
not very good. That's how That's how we looked at it. Okay,
Milton Williams was number one on somebody's list, and I'm like,
Milton Williams, like he should give half that money to
Jalen Carter because Jalen Carter made him look so good

(52:42):
and made his life so much easier all season long,
and like, like, Jalen Carter should be his agent basically
and get paid even more money than his agent would get.
So yeah, I just this is n exciting. I love
what I did. Love what the Bears did because I

(53:03):
thought they didn't overpay too much for the guys that
they got. They made some wise moves. I really think
Tony is a is and I hate the word culture,
but I think he's He's a great pro. The way
that he played this last year by moving to left tackle,
even though you know it didn't make him look great
all season long, he sacrificed that and went out there

(53:26):
and played and gave it the best shot he could.
So I like guys like that. I think that's going
to help the Bears a lot and you know, hopefully
turn around. You know the situation with Caleb.

Speaker 1 (53:36):
Check him out on Twitter at Jason Cole sixty two.
That's at Jason Cole sixty two.

Speaker 3 (53:41):
Oh, I forgot to tell you. I love what the
Cowboys did this week.

Speaker 1 (53:43):
No, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. They said.

Speaker 3 (53:47):
They're all all all in, baby, all in. I have
a friend who's a big Cowboys fan, and the first
day he's like, oh, we're we're about to pick up
Jonathan Allen and then he signed with the Vikings.

Speaker 1 (54:07):
Go cash do SMU ticket, Jacob, I think you mispronounced
Javonte Williams. Oh great, thanks, Eric, later say you money.

understand where he talks about Sam Darnold being here in
free agency, but this is kind of the game, and
I get that. Yeah, teams can say I don't want
to go spend a lot because we're getting average starters.

(54:52):
But you've always had average starters, right, this is where
you've always gotten because it's gotten too much money. Where
else are you gonna spend your money? Right? This is
I'm sorry, but this is the game. The cap goes up,
and this is what the best. This is why players
love free agency. I can be an average player, I
get way more money than I normally would. It's why
people love hitting free agency. Teams take care of theirs,

(55:12):
and most of them get ahead of the game of
keeping their stars around.

Speaker 3 (55:17):
Right.

Speaker 1 (55:18):
I get that you may not like it. But where
we're not gonna get people on other places, Jerry Jones,
you're not gonna get You're not gonna get talent anywhere
else but the draft. There's no special Cowboys draft that
they're gonna have just for you in early July. That's
not happening.

Speaker 3 (55:31):
More.

Speaker 1 (55:31):

that he might have had as a player except Draft night,
