Not that one.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
Okay, you don't want to be the well.
Speaker 3 (00:57):
Dressed I want to I'll do the other two.

MONSI from being on the show that I haven't never
again list, right, I have a never again list where
(01:21):
you know, teams that I picked to do something to
a point where I just say, you know what, I
can't do it anymore. I'm never gonna pick you to
win again. You have hurt me too many times, and
I don't know if I'm taking out my frustrations, but man,
you know, the last couple nights all I did was
Saint Boy. The Bulls have been really good since the deadline.
You know, they got a couple of dynamic players in
the backcourt and white and giddy and wow, yeah, no, no, no,
(01:44):
they don't even show up tonight.
Speaker 3 (01:45):
Yeah, I don't think they realized it was an elimination game.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
And they get boat raised by the heat one oh
nine ninety. So suddenly, you know, now I'm like, that's
the last time I could pick them. They're on my
never I can never pick them to do anything again.
And they're done. They're done. The Bulls are done.
Speaker 3 (01:58):
Yeah, I don't blame you for picking them because they
did look good. But I'm not gonna lie. I thought
he would win this game.
Speaker 4 (02:05):
I feel that the Heat have also been playing really
well without Jimmy Butler.
Speaker 3 (02:09):
You know, somebody has to step.
Speaker 4 (02:10):
Up, and Tyler Hero has stepped up, and he has
brought it, and he brought it tonight.
Speaker 3 (02:14):
He was He started the game a for eight and
died with thirty eight points. He's human.
Speaker 4 (02:17):
He ended up missing a couple of shots there, but
it took him till the second half. So I I
don't know. I always thought the Heat would win, but
I understand what you saw in the Bulls. I didn't
think it was gonna be a blowout from beginning to end.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
I mean they did because he was so hot. They
let Tyr Hero wear his bucket hat in the second
half of the game to be able to make I
mean it looked good.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
Yeah we should.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
You can make threes wearing a bucket hat, that's pretty cool.
I mean you go back and you tip your hat,
you tip the bucket hat. Put God, Buckehet, put it
back on. Buckehet, put it back on God. Look, I
just don't know. And the thing is about this game
is that and this is not to be serious about
the Bulls? Is that now? And I'm sorry, I gotta explained.
I mean, you have no memory of how good the
Bulls were, right, do you remember? Do you remember? You know,
(03:00):
because you just turned twenty.
Speaker 3 (03:01):
Five exactly exactly, thank you for that.
Speaker 4 (03:04):
I remember my brother's reaction reactions more.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
Than the game, Like I just they loved the Bulls.
Speaker 4 (03:11):
They loved Michael, right, So I have memories of them
cheering and kissing the television after Michael would do something
because they thought it was so great. But you're right,
like my memories of the actual game are foggy, but
I remember them.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
I remember them.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
It's this is honestly, this is the saddest thing in
the NBA, right, because not a lot when I watched
When I watch games make me sad. I enjoy all
all the competition, but just seeing the Bulls just absolutely
stink out loud for years. I mean, you say they're
just a bunch of guys wearing uniforms. You're like, you
guys were legends. Hey, you guys were it. You stirred
(03:48):
the drink in the NBA for almost fifteen years and
now you guys think you're just a bunch of guys
wearing jerseys. It's so sad that the Bulls are bad
because what they meant to the NBA. I get that
you have some lean years and things can happen. And look,
Michael Jordan wasn't gonna play for but okay, but now
yeah yeah, Derek Rose all right, yeah, MVP, all right,
your backup. Nope, Nope, Derek Rose for some reason got
(04:10):
hurt and decided, yeah, I'm just not gonna be as
good as I was anymore. And it's been the better
part of like fifteen years. Now. Where you watch the Bulls,
you go, h, it's just sad. Uh, yeah, that's sad. Oh,
that's just sad. Yeah you want to be No, that's
just I mean, it's so sad that the Bulls are
just been this bad when clearly the look when the
(04:30):
Knicks are bad, at least, it's ah, we can make
fun of the Knicks, right, and now you're terrible. Oh
you say, the Bulls have just been blanketly and just
mediocrely awful, like not even like awful, fun awful. It's
just been bad. And here they are you can't even
get a win, can't get out of the playing round.
You know, they had a home game and they lose
by twenty. It's I mean, come on, man, you.
Speaker 4 (04:50):
Know it's really sad when you're playing bad and you've
been bad for many years and they don't make fun
of you and they're not.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
Talking about it. It's like that's how that's super sad
when you're losing.
Speaker 4 (05:00):
You know, like if the Clippers, if Kawhi Leonard gets her, oh,
it's gonna be a laughing stock the Clippers every year.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
You said you said if if you said.
Speaker 3 (05:08):
He's not, he's not.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
Oh really not really wait wait wait he's not just
because you just because he said we're going to the finals.
Jason had it.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
We're going to the final?
Speaker 5 (05:17):
Are you?
Speaker 1 (05:17):
I don't know if you know that? And he's going
to be healthy all the way.
Speaker 4 (05:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
Wait, have you come from a different earth, like a
mc U earth like seven eighteen and say in my
earth Clippers are great and Lebron I think I did
wake up on I don't know who's bed because I wow, okay,
oh that sounded bad, Yeah no it did. Is your
boyfriend listening to because what does she just say he's
(05:45):
listening with all his friends and I go, hey, you
want to hear my girlfriend on the radio? Here, here
we go. I don't know who's bad. I woke up
and alight, let's turn.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
No, no, no.
Speaker 4 (05:55):
I I feel like I did suddenly turn a leaf, thinking,
oh my gosh, the Clippers can actually do it this year.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
And I hadn't been feeling like that throughout the season.
This is a.
Speaker 4 (06:04):
New feeling late in the season, like, I think this
is a real chance.
Speaker 3 (06:09):
And maybe I'm crazy, right, because what is the definition
of insaying doing the same thing over and over again and.
Speaker 4 (06:14):
Get the same And so I mean, like I we
haven't had a healthy Kawhi at all, not once.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
During the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (06:21):
But now it's gonna happen, happen.
Speaker 4 (06:23):
And this feeling came recently. I wasn't feeling like this
even like two months ago, you know what I'm saying.
Now I'm feeling real good about the Clippers. And yeah,
if the Clippers suck, they're a punching bag. It's you know,
but the Bulls have been sucking and I don't know
if it's because like what you're saying, for so many years,
they're so Good and Michael Jordan and the Association and.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
Derek Rose, like what is you? I loved Derek Rose.
Speaker 4 (06:47):
He was so fun to watch, and then it just
didn't keep going. It just it just kind of flattened out.
And then the bulls flattened out and have been flat Now, first.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
Let me say there's a word for what you're experiencing
with the clips crazy And they don't Oh no, no, no, no,
it's much no, no, it's much more. It's much more
of a it's a little bit dressed down word. It's
not telling you you're not insane, you're not crazy. I
get it because I've been there. I understand. Is one word.
It's it's it's one word, and that word is denial. Yes,
(07:16):
that's where you are right now. I've denying what just happened.
I'm just denying what to That's like me saying, you
know what, I'm going to drive my car to the
Starbucks and get a drink. And every time I get
in my car, the car won't start. I go, oh,
car won't start. Won't get okay? And then I try
the next day, and I try the next day, car
won't start.
Speaker 4 (07:34):
Right.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
I try the next day, car won't start next day.
Maybe I get to turn around in the driveway. Nope,
Now Peter's out, nothing nothing, nothing. And and this is
your philosophy, is that no, no, no, Tomorrow, I'm getting
in the car and I'm driving the Starbucks. I'm getting
in that car and driving there. That's kind of where
you're at right now, you.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
Know, Jason, I just wish you would have called me
crazy instead, because bit worse.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
Here's what I do instead. When when something happens outside
of your brand plan for the Clippers, I'm just gonna
look at you and nod and go Okay. You're like, yeah, yeah,
You're gonna throw something at me and then I'm gonna leave.
But I'm gonnay, okay, But you know, you know, so
that's fine. But you know that's all good. So good luck.
You have your days off, right, Yeah, and uh but yeah,
(08:18):
listen to kind of just you know, to put a
button on the bulls here right here. It's it's so
it's it's just no matter what they've tried, they haven't.
It hasn't worked. They had stars, they've had star players, Nope,
not working. Now finally, hey, look how good we are
coming out of the All Star breaking. Yeah, some teams
do quit. You get past game sixty games, sixty five
(08:38):
teams like, yeah, we're done. We're not trying to get
in the playing round. We just ready for the season
to be over. But still twenty seven and fifteen, all right,
you know you got some good teams thrown in there,
and you have shown that, hey, we got some stuff
going on. Kobe White, it is a dynamic player, right,
Giddy has become someone polarizing, but on the court he
has become a guy that they can rely on and
depend on. And okay, so here you have it, right,
(08:59):
And Dussavich been pretty good. He's been able to match
up against other bigs like, okay, they got but no matter,
it just doesn't work. It doesn't work. They had zach
Lavine didn't work, De mar de rozen didn't work. Right,
And again as you're gonna see, hey, filling your team
with ex bulls, like like the team playing later on
is doing, that's not going to do it for you.
But no matter what they've done, they continue to stink.
(09:20):
And it's just it's just said, I see the jerseys
and I go, oh, man, can't they just wear something
you know, bad? Like some kind of neon third Jersey
where at least I can go. They don't even look
like the Bulls anymore. So they wear the same uniforms. Like,
ah boy, this is just the pageantry they used to
have in their respect and that's just all gone. It's sad.
Speaker 4 (09:39):
I mean, I wonder if Michael Jordan Jersey is still
the number one Bulls jersey being purchased today.
Speaker 1 (09:44):
Do you think anybody else is buying any other Bulls Jersey?
Speaker 2 (09:46):
Right?
Speaker 1 (09:46):
You really? Do you think anybody else Jersey? Yeah? You
know it, Scotti, Pippen Jerseys. That's an excellent the you're.
Speaker 3 (09:53):
And you're right, Like, they've tried, They've made moves, they've tried,
and it's just never been enough.
Speaker 2 (09:59):
I don't know it.
Speaker 3 (10:00):
It's that they just don't click. I don't because you
said it yourself. They've had stars, not just one, They've
had a couple, and they make moves, they try to
do it, and they're always they're they're good. They're good
in the East. If they would have been that's exactly
if they would have been in the West.
Speaker 1 (10:16):
That's what I'm saying. I have an army that can
overpower Vatican City.
Speaker 4 (10:19):
Okay, so they stay afloat because in the in the
east they stay.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
They're staying afloat and there's yeah, they're staying a flow.
Like in the west they would be completely underwater, absolutely,
like they would be like where where are this is?
This is there's nothing we can do? Yeah, where the
heart of the ocean. The glorious Stewart just threw all
the way to the bottom, right, all the way all
the way. Oh, by the way, forget the fact that
Bill Paxton brought her out there, right, brings her out. Hey,
I've been looking for this from my entire life. Oh
(10:45):
and I found you. Oh guess what I have it. No,
I'm not gonna help you. You've brought me out here.
I'm gonna throw that out and I'm jumping off into
the water, like, come on, man about you have Bill
packs and that little bit.
Speaker 4 (10:55):
Why not? Why not?
Speaker 3 (10:56):
So how are you gonna help the bulls here? Can
you help the bike?
Speaker 1 (10:58):
No? I can't. What I can do is like is
put all that good karma out there for the other team.
My surprise team that I said is coming out of
the playing round, and that's the Mavericks because they still
have a shot, right the two teams, I said, are
gonna come out of your surprise? Team's coming out? The
Bulls clearly that's it, never again. But the MAVs, you know,
I know that they're underdogs in this game, but they
(11:20):
have so much at stake in the play and round
because they need to flip the narrative so badly passed.
You traded Luca and things are terrible, right, especially the
last couple of days, Nico Harrison doing no one any
favors with his talk, although it is time to let
him off the hook, which we'll get to. But like
they own, they can own this week, right, they can
own this week. And because the playing round is about
(11:43):
the star teams, right, we saw that Warriors played already,
they moved on all right, what's left now for the
next three days A d And yeah, I know how
motivated he is. I know they want to flip the narrative.
And all they gotta do is get out of this
week and get into the play. It doesn't matter if
they get boat raced by the thunder, makes no difference, right,
because Kyrie is hurt, They're still becoming the next version
of what they're gonna be. Because it's okay it's Kyrie
(12:05):
being healthy, it's Ad the money they're not spending on Luca.
They'll go out and get another star in the offseason.
So the Mavericks, the good times are coming. But they
really need to flip that narrative. There is no team
under more pressure in the playing round than the Mavericks.
And if they can win these two games, hey, all
of a sudden, they flip, Wow, look at Ad and
now the fans and all, and the optics of the
(12:26):
of the Mavericks change and suddenly it's not every day
waking up and Mavericks fans want to fire Nico Harrison
and want to burn all their Luca gear and all
this stuff, Like suddenly you can flip that narrative. And
it's just by winning these two games, and it's proving, hey,
we can be the eighth best team in the conference.
But there's much more at stake for them and they
can prove it. And I picked them and I don't.
They're not at the never again point yet, but this
(12:49):
is a point they really can And Ad hot for
two games, Yes he can have a couple of thirty eight,
seventeen and nine games, and yeah, I can see them
winning both these Hey, the Memphis Grizzlies are ripe to
lose tomorrow and night coming off this loss, right, I
feel good about the Mavericks, But again, these two games
can be so much for them.
Speaker 4 (13:08):
The Mavericks could win the finals, and Nico Harrison is
still gonna be hated.
Speaker 3 (13:13):
He's still gonna get death threats that.
Speaker 1 (13:16):
If they win the championship. No, no, no, it'll happen,
they'll stop firing they I don't think. I don't think
they're going to hand them the Larry O'Brien Trophy win
the title. I think they give him a pass.
Speaker 3 (13:30):
They're not gonna win the title. But that's how much
he's hated. That is how much he's hated that even
if they got to the title, he's still gonna be hated.
Speaker 4 (13:38):
Now, I agree with you that if they win these
two games, there is a bit of a change in
the narrative because you.
Speaker 3 (13:43):
Don't end the season on a totally bad taste.
Speaker 4 (13:46):
Right, you win, you have a D coming out, and
like you've claimed that a D you know is that
you wanted him and that's.
Speaker 3 (13:52):
Why you didn't talk to any other team really except
the Lakers. I hope the Mavericks win.
Speaker 4 (13:57):
For a d and for the MAVs fan base because
I do think it would just leave a better taste.
Speaker 3 (14:03):
In their mouths after a terrible end to the season.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
They need something.
Speaker 1 (14:06):
They need something because the Cowboys are gonna stink, So
I mean the need they need something.
Speaker 3 (14:10):
They need a little bit of some and I.
Speaker 1 (14:14):
Right, so, okay, so the Beckers in a gun back.
That's gonna be a lot of shots. Yes, a lot
of shots.
Speaker 3 (14:19):
People really do care about the Dallas Wings seventy right there.
I hope, I hope it happens.
Speaker 4 (14:25):
And you know what, one off games, Absolutely, the MAVs
could easily win these games with Anthony Davis leading the way.
I don't know how the Kings are gonna come out.
The Kings have been a little bit sometimes inconsistent for me,
Like sometimes I think they look really good and then
other times I'm like, well, why did I think you
looked good yesterday?
Speaker 1 (14:41):
So you don't bet on the Kings. I'll bet the
bonus him, Okay, so you'll you'll do that.
Speaker 4 (14:47):
You'll do the He is the most consistent I think
of the Kings every single time. But as a team,
it's like sometimes they look so good and other times
they look so flat.
Speaker 3 (14:56):
Yeah, compared to other teams.
Speaker 4 (14:57):
And I don't know, so I I am with you.
I think the Maps can do this. I think they
can end up playing OKC in the first round.
Speaker 1 (15:03):
Well, I'm hoping tonight's that flat night for Sacramento.
Speaker 3 (15:06):
Yes, let's not disappoint you twice.
Speaker 1 (15:07):
Yeah, no, no, no, let do that. Let's give Dallas
fans a little settle.
Speaker 4 (15:11):
Something, yeah, and a d something because also Ad has
to prove something for himself.
Speaker 1 (15:15):
Yeah. I'll tell you, nobody under more pressure than flip
a narrative and winning get out than Ad and the
Mavericks out to say, Okay, he's motivated this, this is
his time.
Speaker 4 (15:24):
To do it.
Speaker 1 (15:24):
He's the best player on the court. Absolutely, so let's
go do it. Absolutely, and they're gonna lose it and
I'm gonna be really pissed. Okay.
Speaker 5 (15:30):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (15:30):

I don't know, I don't I don't know.
Speaker 5 (18:08):
What to do.
Speaker 4 (18:09):

one of your heroes or like some now did you
have the Jets that we stalked? So are you gonna
ask him bad questions or a good question?
Speaker 3 (18:20):
Are you gonna how are you gonna approach it?
Speaker 1 (18:23):
That's so I don't know, Like what are you gonna do? Like, well, dude,
the dude, I mean, he got a lot of talent
in there, right, talent in I mean we continue to
try to fix the offensive line. You got a lot
of talent in It's okay, And you know in the
list of people that disappointed me on the Jets, Like
he's very I mean, he's not at the top of
the list. There's other way other people. Like what am
I gonna say, Like, I don't know, man, I'm probably
(18:43):
gonna go, hey, how you doing, thanks for trying.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
Like I don't know.
Speaker 1 (18:46):
I don't know what I'm gonna say. It's gonna be
a weird jet. It's gonna be. Now I should wear
my I should wear Jet Ski or should I not?
Speaker 5 (18:55):
No?
Speaker 3 (18:55):
You absolutely should ask him to sign it all for me.
Wear a shirt. We're a jacket. Do socks? Do you
have underwear? I'm saying do it all?
Speaker 1 (19:05):
You mean jets underwear?
Speaker 3 (19:06):
Absolutely?
Speaker 1 (19:06):
Okay, No, I do not know. I've never there's certain
that like socks and underwear. I'm always nervous about when
you when the socks are, but they always look so good.
But I feel like I'm gonna get those socks. They
should be itchy and scratchy and not simpimes. But they're
gonna be itchy and scratchy, Like, ah, how quality socks
are they? So I always kind of shy away from
the socks.
Speaker 4 (19:23):
I'm surprised you've never gotten them as a gift because
I've never bought myself clipper socks, but.
Speaker 3 (19:27):
I get them as gifts like stocking stuffers.
Speaker 1 (19:30):
Like the basketball socks, like you can wear all the
way up to the top of your knees, Like okay,
like that's cool. But I just mean, like, you know,
the three quarter socks. I feel like the advancements in
socks the last twenty five years is amazing.
Speaker 3 (19:40):
It's true.
Speaker 1 (19:41):
If I look at it, like it's the same socks
all the time, it looks like the three quarter socks,
the white sock with with the with the logo on it,
it's gonna get stretched out and absolutely, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (19:50):
Yeah, see, we can get you some good ones. I
think you're I think we get you some good Jets
or Knicks socks.
Speaker 1 (19:56):
Okay, yeah, wear like a d I'll where the socks
go all the way up to my hips.
Speaker 3 (20:00):
You don't need to do that, Okay, we don't need
to get that far.
Speaker 1 (20:03):
Just normal socks, Jason, Okay, just normally a nice little
We'll go all right, normal, no normal socks. Will you
signed my sock? Joe? Yeah, I put my foot up
on the Hey Joe, sign my sock right here, So
it's like, right, Joe Douglas jets GM, j E T.
I do all right there, right there, Joe do all
that for me?
Speaker 3 (20:20):
And my name is Jason.
Speaker 2 (20:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (20:21):
Yeah, Well you know, here's my thing. Here's my thing. Honestly,
I'm being serious about this. Is like, what if he
thinks about me like JJ Reddick, thinks about me like
JJ reddick. We know we've heard he does not like me,
right doesn't. And meanwhile, the more the Lakers, the more
that happened, the more the Lakers won, So I should
get a ring. But like, what if that's the case
and I walk in, Hey Joe, he goes, oh this guy,
(20:43):
and I'm like, okay, all right, what do we got here?
Everybody's cameras are on right, cameras are everybody's cameras are
on right? Okay? Is he gonna say, hey, let's go
talk in this room where where no one can hear
us or see us for about five minutes And.
Speaker 4 (20:54):
At that point you call your wife on the phone
and you just put your phone in your pocket and
have her listened, just in case, like in.
Speaker 1 (21:01):
The movies where that works. Yes, you didn't know. I'm
recording our entire conversation.
Speaker 3 (21:05):
Now tell you it can't be done. Believe in yourself.
Speaker 1 (21:08):
If something happens to me and recording this conversation goes
to all the all the different newspapers, well there's no
newspapers anymore, but it goes out to the media. I
gotta get this. If they don't hear from you in
the next five minutes, maybe I do that.
Speaker 3 (21:19):
I'm saying, it's possible.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
You call me.
Speaker 3 (21:21):
It's not available.
Speaker 1 (21:26):
Uh So, the biggest college football and biggest football controversy
the last week looks like it's going to end. Earlier today,
we found out that potentially a former Tennessee quarterback, Nico
Ayama Bayava, might have a destination in mind right. Colin
Coward reporting on the Herd earlier today, he's hearing it's
u C l A and we're hearing that the former
(21:48):
Tennessee starter who left under alleged circumstances of wanting a
better NIL deal, could land at UCLA for less money
than he was going to make it. Now, this is
a story that came out. It was about wanting a
better deal. His people have since come out in the
last few days. It's not about that. It's about the fit.
It's about the offense. I don't know if you're the
(22:10):
quarterback of Tennessee and you're coming off a playoff appearance
that you're worried about your standing. But okay, here's where
we're at. And every day with this story, I feel
one thing, Monci, just just one thing. I just one thing.
When all this story comes out, I just think one
thing for it, and I think this is just stupid. Okay,
because the NIL era is not going anywhere. This is
(22:32):
the new normal. Anytime I hear somebody going crazy about
a story like this, I go, You're not. You don't understand.
You're not in current day. You are still living in
the past where you think college football is gonna go
back in college sports is gonna put the genie back
in the bottle and go back to before NIL. And No,
the NIL is here. It's not going anywhere, right. Transfer
portal is here. It's not going where. They're not gonna
(22:53):
take rights away from players, not gonna take money away
from players. They're not gonna take rights away from players
who can leave when coaches can leave. I love the
NIL and the transfer portal. It balances things out between
the haves and the have nots, because hey, how are
schools like Syracuse and Duke and are gonna compete with
schools like Alabama at Ohio? Say, guess what they can
(23:14):
now because they figure out the NIL portal. They have
the rich alumni who can give money. Right, Duke has
gotten the two best quarterbacks the last two cycles of
the offseason. Manny Diaz has figured out NIL at Duke. Right,
Syracuse and fran Brown figured out NIL, pulling people from
all kinds of different schools. Right, so this evens the
playing field and it's fine all but the players. We
(23:35):
don't get mid major upsets in the nca tournament. Hey,
I'm all for players saying I started here at a
small school. Now I want to go to a bigger school.
You want to stop kids from going to a bigger school.
This is great for college sports. It makes everybody everybody counts.
Everybody can win. Teams in the big Power five conference
has a chance to make the playoffs. They have a
chance to win ten games. They're not gonna suddenly lose places,
(23:56):
and if they lose players, they can get players back.
This has been great for college football. I get it's
not what college football was, and maybe it's not how
you would draw it up. But this is where we're
at and it's not going back. We're not going back
to anything else. If anything's gonna get more crazy, but
we're not going back to where it was. And everybody
that says things like this, I feel like they're at
the point where like, well, eventually, no, no one's throwing
(24:16):
that emergency break. No one's coming in to say, Okay,
Niyela is done. We're not gonna people can't transfer anymore. No,
if anything, it's just gonna be more. It's about younger
coaches coming in and people that understand this is where
it's at right now, and it's not changing.
Speaker 3 (24:29):
Absolutely, it's not changing at all.
Speaker 4 (24:30):
You know. It's just saying when NIL first came out,
I didn't know how I was going to feel about it.
But I do think it's really good for the sport.
I think it's not what people wanted because college football
I was not. I didn't go to a school with
college football team. I want to Kelsey Fullarton.
Speaker 3 (24:46):
Here in LA.
Speaker 1 (24:47):
You had a great baseball baseball team and yeah, absolutely,
And it's a pretty good school for the arts and
acting communications.
Speaker 3 (24:55):
Yes, yeah, so that's why I went there. Okay, yeah, no,
I loved it.
Speaker 4 (24:58):
But here in La fotball feel isn't the same as
if you were go to a football college. It's like
a football city, right with like college it's very different.
But I was always told, well, college football is better
than the NFL because they don't get paid.
Speaker 3 (25:11):
They're just out there because they love the game.
Speaker 4 (25:14):
So I feel like that's what's upsetting some you know,
old school maybe college football fans, that that's changing, but
it isn't going anywhere. And what is happening with Nico
Ia Maliaba is the beginning of more. This is going
to continue to happen. You know, this is now a business.
College football is now a business.
Speaker 3 (25:30):
And when you sign a contract, you sign a contract.
If you want to get out of it and you want.
Speaker 4 (25:34):
To go test the waters, okay, by all means, go
and if it doesn't work for you, that's the part
of business.
Speaker 3 (25:38):
So we're going to see more of this.
Speaker 4 (25:40):
It's unfortunate for Nico that maybe he was given bad advice, right,
we don't know, but being told that he could get
more money elsewhere because they want to compare to other
players around him bad advice because clearly.
Speaker 3 (25:53):
Nobody in the market thought you were worth four million.
Speaker 4 (25:57):
Nobody thought that. Nobody's here offering you that the school.
One school is even willing to wait. One of the
reports I've read was that they're willing to wait for
him to continue to test the water. Go ahead, go
ahead and talk to whoever you want. When you're ready,
come back. We're giving you about a million, is what
I've read. It's gonna be over a million, under two.
Speaker 1 (26:13):
Yeah, he was. He was up to be close to
four million in Tennessee. And that's how it's gonna go.
So let me before we go, let me ask you this,
which Nicos had the worst last couple of days or
Nico Harrison, who's had the word still?
Speaker 3 (26:26):
I think it's still Harrison. Okay, it's still Harrison. You know,
nobody's gonna be named Nico for the next three years.
Yeah no, No, that window for the next three years
and maybe longer.
Speaker 1 (26:36):
Especially not in Dallas exactly exactly.
Speaker 4 (26:39):
But Nomava is still young, you know, it's still it's
not like he's not gonna play. He's gonna go play
and like maybe he'll turn this season around with U C.
L A and like go somewhere else next year.
Speaker 3 (26:49):
Who knows, who knows? This is just the beginning like this,
We're gonna see more.
Speaker 4 (26:53):
Of this, And I'm I'm kind of glad it already
happened so early on in the nil Ah that this
is already happening.
Speaker 1 (27:01):
Well, you should have known it because his name looks
like it says, I'm Aliva, I'm Alivia, Nico, I'm Olivia.
Speaker 2 (27:07):
What it looks like, right, it does.
Speaker 1 (27:09):
But here here's the other part of it that that
really plays into this is that, Okay, so he played
a game and he thought he could do something better
and he lost, right, So now he's gonna be getting
less money to have to prove himself for the new Now, granted,
you're gonna transfer to a school and being a quarterback
coming off a playoff appearance, okay, pretty good playmaker, all right,
you get. But now you played the game and you lost, right,
(27:31):
And I bring up Syracuse because Syracuse found out yesterday
they're best receiver. Who's gonna be an all acc guy.
Trevor Pana decided to hit the NIL portal. Hit the
portal because he wanted more money in NIL and he
was a little nervous about the quarterback situation. And Fran Brown,
Syracuse head coach said, I told him he's got to go, like, Okay,
I gotta go. So this is gonna police itself. This
(27:52):
is not gonna be where oh Nico Yama, what he
did was gets good. No, nothing, It's gonna be case
by case. Every kid that leaves is not gonna win.
Every kid who stays is not gonna lose. It's gonna
be policed pretty easily. You want to roll the dice
and take your chances. This is what can happen. So no,
there's no law coming in saying okay, this is completely
(28:13):
out of control, because this is how it's gonna go. Now,
a quarterback, after seeing what happened with Tennessee and UCLA,
is gonna say, Oh, maybe I stay, I'm the starter
I got, I'm pretty good. Maybe I don't want to
try to go for the brass ring as much. Maybe
someone who decides I'm hit the Portland go to another
school with a better quarterback. Oh, maybe I should have stayed.
Maybe that's going to happen, and that's just gonna play
(28:34):
out over the course of the next few years. So
this is something like I'm always a big fan when
something can police itself, will put anything in because this
is gonna be case by cases, not suddenly, oh look
what happened to Iyamalayava. Suddenly all the quarterbacks are gonna
go or boy, he didn't get more money, They're all
gonna stay. No, it's gonna be case by case and
it's gonna police itself.
Speaker 4 (28:52):
And that's why I agree, and that's why I'm glad
it already happened, because I think it is showing other players, Hey,
this can happen. So whatever you decide moving forward, it's
not necessarily gonna go the way you think because this
is a business. Now we are, this is now a business.
So that's what I'm saying. Like, it's a good thing.
It already happened. Sucks for Nico, but again, he's young.
He's gonna go make a million bucks.
Speaker 3 (29:14):
Not too shabby.
Speaker 1 (29:15):
True.
Speaker 4 (29:15):
I wish I was making a million bucks for that age,
so not too sh but it sucks. It sucks for
him that you're the face of this right now. But
it's a good thing. And I agree it's gonna be
case by case. Like, no need to freak out.
Speaker 3 (29:25):
It's just just it was. It was gonna happen it
just happened a little fast.
Speaker 1 (29:28):
No, they don't have the end that nil situation at
cal State Fullerton. They don't.
Speaker 3 (29:32):
Okay, you sure, I don't think so.
Speaker 1 (29:33):
I don't.
Speaker 3 (29:34):
I don't think so. I haven't. I haven't seen any
of that in the news.
Speaker 1 (29:36):
I got. You want a real fun story about cal
State Fullerton really fast? Right, So this is a bunch
of years ago. When I worked at ESPN, there was
a kid who worked the overnight parking garage and it
was his first job out of school and everything. And
I would see him cause I'd be leaving at night.
Hey how you doing? How you doing? And he said
to me, hey, you got a second go? Yeah, it
goes you work for ESPNIC goo. Yeah, he goes. I'm
trying to get in like as an intern and stuff
and everything. Can you can you help me? Said? Yeah?
(29:58):
I said, bring your resume and I can give it
and upstairs and what do you want to do? I
went to school for communications, all okay, And I said
him myself, Oh, where'd you go? And he looks at
me and he puts it and he goes col State
Fullerton and I said okay, but he was like he
was embarrassed. He was cal State like I'm gonna get
like I was gonna peel out of the parking lot,
go forget it. I said, Okay, give me your resume,
(30:20):
but he never gave it to me, and I was like, oh,
but I felt the way he said cal State fullertin
like I got what can I do? That's where I
went to see.
Speaker 3 (30:27):
That's terrible, that's terrible. I loved I loved cal State Fullerton.
Speaker 2 (30:32):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (30:32):
Speaking of terrible, why don't you tell some of the people,
Uh tell everybody that's listening some of the bad things
that have happened tonight, including the Chicago Bulls getting boat
raced the way they did and ruining my playing prediction, ruining.
Speaker 3 (30:43):
Your playing prediction. I mean, what did you say, they're
on your never again list?
Speaker 4 (30:47):
Never again, never again on the Chicago Bulls, because really
they I don't even realize. I don't know if they
realized it was an elimination game. The Miami Heat still alive.
From beginning to end. They controlled that game. They beat
the Bulls one o nine to ninety, eliminating them officially
from the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (31:04):
Tyler Hero thirty eight points. So Miami is still alive.
But they have to face.
Speaker 4 (31:08):
Atlanta now on Friday for the eighth seed in the
Eastern Conference. The other playing happening right now out of Sacramento.
The Kings have a twenty nine to twenty seven lead
over the Mavericks. They're about to end the first quarter,
so plenty of game left. Anthony Davis two of nine
from the field. He's got four rebounds four points against
just the first quarter, while DeMar Derozen is the leading scorer.
(31:29):
He's got nine points two of five from the field.
In Major League Baseball, I saw that Shoeo Tani homer,
then Freddie Freeman homer, and they've scored a bunch since that.
Speaker 3 (31:39):
So the Dodgers all over the Rockies.
Speaker 4 (31:41):
It's the bottom of the first inning and they're up
seven to one, and again Shoho Tawny with a shot. Also,
Aaron Judge had a homer earlier today, seventh of the year,
as a Yankees completed three game sweep of the Royals.
Speaker 3 (31:53):
Four to three was the final score.
Speaker 4 (31:55):
The A's took a three to one victory over the
White Sox, just like the Rangers, who beat the Angels
three to one. It was all Giants against the Phillies
eleven to four was the final score vers San Francisco,
who is thirteen and five on the season.
Speaker 3 (32:07):
Cal Raley one hundred career homers. He hit two of
them today. The Mariners beat the Reds five to three.
Speaker 4 (32:13):
Jackson Holiday had a grand slam for the Orioles as
they crushed the Guardians nine to one.
Speaker 3 (32:19):
And that's it. Back to you, Jason and men.
Speaker 1 (32:22):
All right, Mike Carman, Jason Smith, Monsey and for harmon
tonight here on Fox Sports Radio. Coming up next, evidence
that one NFL team picking in the top three listens
to the show because of what they said today going forward.
That's next right here, Jason and Monsei. This is Fox
Sports Radio. Every time I hear this song, I think
(32:43):
if I am legend. When Will Smith is telling the
story of Bob Marley, Yes, tell you what Bob Marley
stood for. Let me tell you all this stuff. Bob
Marley did this. It was like it was so sad.
Sound when he put his dog down. Yeah, whoa spoiler,
it's old, spoiler, so old? I mean, really that was sad.
It was bast Here's how bad I was I summer.
The dog's name was Sam. Wow, that's how bad that's
I've literally watched John Wick kill thousands of people, but
(33:05):
I watched one dog going I'm I know, I know,
I mean, I'm glad. They're redoing I Am legend and
they're going to go back to the alternate ending. Yeah.
Oh yeah, they're reading it's all happening like they were
doing it with Will Smith. Yeah, they're doing it because
and well obviously how it ended. Okay, well how can
you have Will Smith? But the alternate ending is Will
Smith makes it and then you know, he goes into
(33:26):
that room whatever blows up the thing. You know, they
all that, and he makes it, and that's the alternate ending.
But when they tested it, they felt the other one
was more true to the story. So they did that.
But now they're going to redo it and it's going
to be the The alternate ending is now canon.
Speaker 4 (33:41):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (33:42):
So now, so Will Smith could be in the movie.
Is Chris rocking it? Yes, he just slap him. Yes,
they know he's the bad guy. Now he's the bad
gu cure yes, yes, yeah. If you're ready to lose weight,

Visit my phdweight loss dot com. That's m y phdweightloss
dot com. So now I'm pretty sure Monsey that I
know the New York Giants listened to the show. Okay, Yesterday,
Travis Hunter had a pretty quizzical statement that he made
in a podcast about his future if his new NFL
team doesn't allow him to play both sides of the football.
(34:25):
He said, I'd rather retire than play just one side
of the ball. Right. I've been doing this my whole life.
I want to go out and do it. And we
talked about it yesterday and I said, of course, you
let him do it. This is why you're drafting now
drafted just to me, you're drafting he can do great
players in one Why would you not do that? It's stupid?
But why would he say that? And I said, I
guarantee you it's because he, either either personally or through
(34:47):
back channels, heard that there's a team that could take
him that is really not on board with that plan.
That maybe will play a little bit of offense, but
cornerback is where you're gonna be. He's sending a message
to some buddy and lo and behold what happened today?
Giants GM, Joe Shane, Giants Pig third. They could be
sitting there with Travis Hunter. He said, oh, hey, hey, hey, hey. Oh.
(35:09):
By the way, I don't know why I'm asked and
saying this, but if we got Travis Hunter, he play
on both sides of the ball.
Speaker 2 (35:16):
Travis is a unique individual. You know, again they've.
Speaker 5 (35:19):
Said it at the Owners. I mean, he's going to
watch a lot of plays on him, so he's he's.
Speaker 2 (35:22):
Fun to watch.
Speaker 1 (35:23):
It's it's unique that.
Speaker 2 (35:26):
You know, the ball skills, the route ability.
Speaker 5 (35:28):
And then also the ability to go to the other
side and you know, play corner like you just don't
see that very often. You know, a lot of times
if these guys can't catch or they can't play receiver,
then they get moved to dB.
Speaker 2 (35:36):
But you know, this guy can do it all. So
he's also you know, he's a great kid, and so.
Speaker 5 (35:42):
It'd be hard to keep him off the field. And
you know he's motivated to play both ways. So you know,
again you always worried about the length of the season.
You know, at the NFL seventeen games and training camp
and you're just if he gets hurt doing something that
he's not doing full time, you know, you're gonna kick yourself.
But he's he's a unique athlete that I think I'll
(36:03):
be able to do both.
Speaker 1 (36:04):
So Travis, Hey, hey, hey, just want you know, man,
you'll play both sides. Well, no need of this retire
stuff everything. You'll play both sides of the football. Yeah.
I guarantee that was a message being sent to the Giants.
Speaker 4 (36:15):
Whoever wrote that wrote it real well, they knew exactly
what they were trying to hit, what message they were
trying to get across slipped in.
Speaker 3 (36:22):
Great kid, Oh that was so well done. Good job,
because yeah, I agree, he.
Speaker 4 (36:29):
Must have heard something that there was someone out there
hesitant to let him play on both sides of the ball.
Speaker 3 (36:34):
But you have to let him and then see how
it goes. How are you not going to start him
to do that? I don't know. That makes no sense.
Speaker 1 (36:41):
Well, there's two ways to do it, and that's why
I said throw because the way the first way to
do it is Okay, you come in and slowly, we'll
parse it out for you. But that's gonna be a
lot of hesitancy because he's so up on I want
to play both side of the ball. When do you
allow him to play more snaps? You gotta prove you
can do this, prove you can do this. It's much
easier to say, no, you're gonna come out and play
both sides of the ball. You're gonna play till is
hanging out, and if we need to dial it back,
(37:03):
then you will see the evidence that we need to
dial it back a little bit. Until you either get
more comfortable with game plans, get used to NFL life,
whatever it is. We can do this throughout the entire
summer and go on, and then it's easier because then
he's on the same page with you, understanding, Oh boy,
yeah I blew that coverage or I did this, I
did this maybe a little bit less during a game.
I was tired on this play. I didn't run this
route how it was supposed to. Yeah, okay, maybe a
(37:24):
little bit less, and it's okay, you understand, and things
can go from There's no reason why you can't do
it that way. Again. That's why he's so special. It's
why you're drafting him because you want it. It's like
the teams that draft a mobile quarterback and say we're
gonna turn you into a pocket passer, which used to
happen all the time. Why are you doing that? This
is what makes this guy special. Let him run the football.
Let him do it now. Teams are like, yeah, yeah, yeah,
(37:45):
we're gonna completely build the offense around what you do.
It's the same thing for Travis Hunter. Let him. This
is why you're drafted, This is why is the number two,
number three overall pick. Because he's a Heisman Trophy order
and he can do both. He could be the Sho
Heo Tani of football.
Speaker 3 (37:57):
Exactly.
Speaker 1 (37:58):
Let him do it.
Speaker 4 (37:59):
Stop trying for him into a smaller box that he
doesn't want to be in. The normal thing is for
him to go out there and do both. Let the
normal thing happen, and then if it doesn't work out,
like I love what you just said, like what if
he realizes.
Speaker 3 (38:11):
Oh, maybe this is more than I thought that I
can handle.
Speaker 4 (38:14):
But let him realize that, because right now he thinks
he can do it, and there's no reason for us
to think he can't. Wasn't he the first guy to
win Best Receiver and Best DBT good.
Speaker 3 (38:25):
Right, like the first player to do that.
Speaker 4 (38:27):
So let him go out and start from the beginning,
Hot and heavy. Don't don't ease into it. I'm with you, Jason,
Hot and heavy. Get him out there and let him see.
Speaker 3 (38:36):
What he can do.
Speaker 1 (38:37):
I like how he said, don't put me in a box.
Tell me that sounds like that sounds like something maybe
you've uttered in a conversation off the air somewhere else. Oh,
put me in a box. Don't put him in a box.
Speaker 3 (38:48):
Don't put him in a box. He can do it all.
Let him do it just like you said.
Speaker 4 (38:53):
Show.
Speaker 3 (38:53):
Hey, O, Tommy, come on, why not?
Speaker 1 (38:54):
He can be that guy telling me that that's why
you drafted him. He can be that guy. Exit to Fresca,
Exit Monte Bolangos, The Jason Smith Show with Monsey and
from Mike Harmon. We got more NFL on the way.
