You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Greetings, Welcome inside final hour tonight the Jason Smith Show
with my best friend Mike Harmon.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
Things my way and my way is terrible.
Speaker 3 (00:38):
I may have said that earlier today, maybe three times.
Speaker 1 (00:42):
Isn't there a big thing now to push eradicating AI
impersonations celebrities on social media? Like I'm glad we got
that when we did. That's right, and we won't get
that again.
Speaker 3 (00:57):
The thing is, there's some percentage of the audience that
thought that was legit. They play it all the time
on that show. Jerry Jones says we're gonna do things
my way and my way is terrible. They play it
all the time.
Speaker 4 (01:10):
It's real.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
It's funny because it's true.
Speaker 4 (01:12):
It's real. Hey, I Jerry Jones.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:15):
Now, there are very few tenets or.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
I would say sayings that you can live by in sports,
no matter what generation is.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
Sure, never stand in front of the pulling guard. I'm
sure you never never wanted right right, never want to
do that. Sorry, never want to do that.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
But certain things, you know, something changes from the nineties
to the two thousands, or the eighties to the aughts,
whatever it is, Yeah, got changes.
Speaker 4 (01:48):
The loser goes in the fire.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
That that is true. That is timeless.
Speaker 4 (01:52):
I don't think they do that to horses.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
I don't.
Speaker 4 (01:54):
I don't think so out there. I don't think so.
Speaker 3 (01:58):
Uh boy, I gotta go to Italy or grease one.
Speaker 4 (02:01):
Of the things. Why to get a horse meat sandwich?
Speaker 3 (02:03):
Well, and to investigate you know anything. Jannis might want
to tell me.
Speaker 4 (02:06):
Why would you have to go to Italy. I don't know.
You want to go to Italy for a horse meat sandwich?
Get one down the streets. I don't think you have to.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
I'm sure you could get a horse meat sandwich somewhere
in Los Angeles if you really want. I don't know
where you might have to go in the dark human meat,
but I bet you could.
Speaker 4 (02:28):
Whoa whoa whoa you could, and we can make it dark.
But let's not make it pitch black. Come on, man,
I do it that dark? That's really dark? No, that's
really really dark. It is because I know it's dark.
Speaker 3 (02:39):
That's dark. Donated the sun that is dark. You never
know that's dark. That sounds like that sounds like a
topic of the news on the new season of Bosh.
I just saw tit as well of for I don
an old episode of Ny Meeting Blue. No, really, it
was a kid like it is. What do you think
(03:01):
it's in the bacon?
Speaker 2 (03:02):
Why?
Speaker 4 (03:02):
Hot dogs?
Speaker 1 (03:03):
Oh that's a real thing. What's the real thing?
Speaker 5 (03:06):
There was an article written about a lady who was
literally selling human meat hot dogs outside of a Dodgers things.
Speaker 4 (03:10):
A while back, outside of a outside of a what thing?
Dodger games.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
Yeah, I don't know about that, you under said, Are
you sure that's true? You see it goes back to
those things I tell you.
Speaker 4 (03:18):
About the carts. That wasn't it because there was an
article on it.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
It's gonna be true, right, That wasn't an AI article
that you had to go on Snopes and realize, Oh wait,
that wasn't true. It was voiced by Jerry Jones. Dude,
you let me tell you this, Alex. There is nobody
in the world who needs to check Snopes.
Speaker 4 (03:36):
Every day more than you do. Alex saw on on
not Truth Social What if I told you I started Snopes?
I what if I am Snope?
Speaker 3 (03:44):
I saw it on Things that Are Wrong dot Com
and it was right there, right out there a little bit.
So wait, is that? I think the things that are
not I'm afraid of what it's gonna be. But the
Onion had it.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
Yeah, okay, I think that isn't the Dark Web like Onion?
Speaker 4 (04:01):
Like, isn't it do Onions?
Speaker 3 (04:02):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (04:03):
You don't want the Dark Web, isn't it?
Speaker 3 (04:04):
No?
Speaker 4 (04:05):
Trust me? Just go to Snopes. I've tried the dark one.
Just go to Snopes. You tried the dark do a
whole VPN and everything? Okay, what does that mean?
Speaker 5 (04:11):
You have to like basically make sure you're not showing
where you are. People can hack you on the black.
Speaker 3 (04:17):
Web the VPN, so it gives a bogus But I
mean like, yeah, but why do you.
Speaker 4 (04:22):
Watch decks highlights? That's right?
Speaker 5 (04:24):
No, No, like a VPM is so they don't know
where you are because people can track your scrambles. Yeah, okay,
why do you need to Why did you need people
not know where you are because you're not supposed to
be on the dark Web.
Speaker 4 (04:33):
No, I know, But why are you on the dark web?
I want to see what's on the dark web.
Speaker 3 (04:37):
You're not supposed to be in the dark web, So
why are you on the dark web? I want to
see what's on the dark web. Okay, in my head
the whole time, Dennis Hopper's going bad things. Man. Now
you look up things that are wrong dot com. You
get related searches, Bible teaching, church, Christian Church, Bible, how
to get my information off the internet?
Speaker 4 (04:57):
Oh they okay, good, there there go.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
Those are the three things that one.
Speaker 4 (05:00):
Yeah, let's get back to Yannis, to the Lakers. My
shirt snokes.
Speaker 3 (05:03):
Dot com should be your homepage.
Speaker 5 (05:05):
It should be what you get on every literally Jason
New York Times World Briefing America is so Molly Vender
arrested in food check for human remains.
Speaker 4 (05:12):
I'm telling you it's real.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
Okay, but did they have human reins in there?
Speaker 4 (05:15):
I got to pay your card. MIC's on file. Let
me use your card. I need to read this card.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
God, in the name of science, you almost have to speak,
you know, honestly, the number of things times that I
will waste things. I will waste five dollars on or
ten dollars on.
Speaker 4 (05:40):
That'll just you know.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
But if you say, oh, hey, I could get an
entire year of Syracuse dot com racket all this year
just for a dollar ninety nine?
Speaker 3 (05:49):
No, not not paying a dollars Yeah, not doing it. Nope,
not gonna pay a dollar and nope, not gonna do it.
What's the old from the last DJ Tom Petty? Could
all the boys upstairs want to see how much you'll
pay for what you used to get for free?
Speaker 1 (06:05):
They could say on this website, Hey, the Secret to
Eternal Life one ninety nine is all you pay, you
get the secret to a.
Speaker 4 (06:11):
Turn forgetity, eternal life.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
I'm gonna go some place ells so I could read
something for free about Jennifer Anderson's new boyfriend. Was that
a link to Disney Plus subscriptions so you could watch
the Last Crusade?
Speaker 1 (06:22):
So tonight, not only did Giannis's season with the Bucks end,
probably and likely and if he should, his career at
the Bucks is probably should end because he needs to
be traded now in the off season. But yeah, there's
nothing that tells you This should be the end more
than when you get into a controversy at the end
of the game with an opposing player's dad. So the
(06:44):
Bucks blow a seven point lead with forty seconds left
to go, Trust me, it happened. I don't failing and spectacular,
this free throws turnover is not all this awful awful things.
And I can't believe Doc Rivers made it through the
press conference as the head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks.
But after the game was over, Tyre's Halliburton pacer Star
makes a layup with one second left to win the game.
(07:07):
There's bedlam on the court after he scores, and Jannis
is just standing in the key because he inbounds the
ball and the Gary Trent junior throws from seventy five
feet away. It doesn't go. He's just standing there, going,
what the hell just happened to us? When Tyre's Halliburton's
dad comes out of the stands with a with a
player towel in his hand and starts shaking it in Jannis's.
Speaker 4 (07:29):
Face, you want to put in me.
Speaker 1 (07:30):
One one finds Jannis on the court, stands about five
feet away and is jawing at him, shaking the towel
at him, which is ridiculously a punk move because he
knows Jiannis isn't gonna do anything to him. And still no, no,
I want to go and I want to show Yan.
I want to troll Jannis. One of the things I
always say that is true, no matter what erasport we're in,
(07:52):
when family members or significant others get involved, it's not
good for that player. It's never good whenever. It's never
no matter what you talk about, somebody's mom or dad
or wife or girlfriend, it is not good. See Belichick, Coama, Bill,
and basically every other story that we talk about that
involves somebody's family member or significant other. So this happens
(08:13):
following the game, and it's pretty embarrassing. And Tyre's Halliburton
talked about.
Speaker 3 (08:16):
It following the game, and I give him a lot
of credit because he said his dad was wrong and
Giannis was right.
Speaker 4 (08:22):
You know.
Speaker 6 (08:22):
As far as the incident between the honest and my pops, Hi,
you know, I don't take that. My Pops wasn't the
right at all there and unfortunate you know what happened
to the end there, But I think it's just competition. And
as far as my pops. Again, I don't agree what
happened there. We'll have a conversation. You know, everybody's going
men and uh you know, well we'll just go from there.
Speaker 1 (08:41):
Yeah, I don't think it was I I got lost
and got excited. That would have been running out of
the court to celebrate with your kid who just hit
a game winning shot. That's what I would do if
Mike hat a game winning shot. I'm not going to
troll somebody on the other team. He decided I'm going
to go out and troll Yannis, right, because it's bad
blood between the Bucks and the Pains. We get it,
I understand, But wow, man, that's just that's so unbelievably embarrassing.
Speaker 4 (09:05):
It And again, it's.
Speaker 1 (09:06):
Such a punk move because you know he's not he's
not gonna do anything because he's an NBA player. He
would get her suspended. It would look like he's picking
on an older guy on an old man. Uh So, yeah,
that's a really punk move. And if you think Giannis
is after the game had forgotten about it, uh ah,
this is Yannis talking about what happened at the end
of the game with Tyres Haliburton's dad.
Speaker 7 (09:27):
I believe like being humbled in victory. That's how way
I am. Now, this can be a lot of people
out there that are like, no, when you when you
win the game, it's a green light for you to
be disrespectful towards somebody else. I disagree. I've won the championship.
They have it okay, And that doesn't even say anything.
I'm not trying to minimize the effort, but losing the
(09:49):
game emotions right run high. Having a fan, which at
the moment I thought it was fun, but then I
realized it was Tyry's son, which I love Titus I think.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
Is a great competitor.
Speaker 7 (09:59):
He was dad sort of coming in the floor and
showing me his son, Tawell with his face, this is
what we do, this is what we do this if
we do this, I feel like that's very, very disrespectful.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
I said this a couple hours ago. That you know,
you listen to Janni's talk and you realize he just
has a way of cutting through the clutter and very
calmly convincing you of a point of view, and he's
full of a lot of class. And there's lots of
instances where Yannis could go off the handle on things
that you get very emotional on and instead he comes
(10:38):
off with this explanation, Hey, this is what happened.
Speaker 3 (10:41):
You should win with class. This is what he did.
I don't know why he did this. It's not full
of class. It's a bad move. I don't blame Tyreeve.
Tyreez is a great competitor. He is full of class. Oh,
by the way, thanks to a couple of people who
stole that take and put it on social media after
we talked about it and after I tweeted it.
Speaker 4 (10:58):
You know who you are.
Speaker 1 (10:59):
You should pay us money for stealing takes, which is
what you've done for a long time anyway, just real
quick moneies. But uh but look, but I get it.
Speaker 4 (11:08):
I get it.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
And it's such a punk move by by Tyree's dad,
Like you get to run up to him and say,
this is what we this is what we blank and do.
Speaker 4 (11:15):
No, go celebrate with your kid.
Speaker 3 (11:17):
That's how you that's how you go, that's how you.
Speaker 4 (11:18):
Go do it.
Speaker 3 (11:19):
This is like youth sports dad to the extreme.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
This is like when I would coach when I when
I coach soccer and softball, not most of the parents
are great and a lot of players I coach and
players I pick for teams and also and everything, you
draft the parents sometimes as much as you draft the kid,
because you know what it's gonna be like if it's
if it's fifty to fifty between a player who you
know is gonna get to practice on time, that's going
to be someone that's gonna be committed to the team
(11:44):
versus a parent that's gonna be loud about things and
and and really you know, be a difficult part every
every kid. I've caught lots of teams I coach, there's
dads I gotta watch out for. There's parents I got
because I know they're gonna say something after a game
or they're gonna do something after a game. And this
is Tyrese Halliburton's dad.
Speaker 3 (12:03):
This is this is this is youth, bad youth dad,
youth sports dad to the nth extreme. I'm gonna go
on the court to a huge superstar who I know
can't do anything to me, and I'm gonna bait him
and I'm gonna troll him. Like again, that's that's filled
so much weak sauce. That's like a that's like filling
a big cooking pot worth of weak sauce.
Speaker 4 (12:24):
Is what he's got actually done. That's a good term.
Speaker 3 (12:27):
We'll have to work on the t shirt line weak
sauce available here and then you put a guy and
put his picture on there as it were, or the
towel of Tyrese Haliburton.
Speaker 4 (12:39):
I like that.
Speaker 3 (12:39):
He came to his press conference with the shades on though,
as he talked about the severity of this was really
affecting him.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
Well, his future is so bright. He has to wear shit. No,
there's no question because he's gonna go to another team.
My future so bright because I'm out of here, man.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
I have none, no, no, no, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
Can he get there for tomorrow's game? If you's get
there for tomorrow, I think you'll win the series.
Speaker 4 (13:00):
Is he starting? But JJ Redick's gonna play him the
whole second half? Oh good, okay, good, good, good good. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
I mean you'll have to trade like Austin Reeves for him,
maybe a reason, Hatchama, but I think he'll be up there.
Speaker 3 (13:08):
They can't have though, Okay, Oh, Bronnie's the deal.
Speaker 4 (13:11):
Breath.
Speaker 3 (13:12):
Hey, fatigue had nothing to do with the end of
game and missing those point blank range shots.
Speaker 1 (13:18):
None of that, no, none of it, not zero, no,
except just being tired, just a little bit. Theyou think
they would have been tired no matter what. I don't
think they would have been something.
Speaker 4 (13:25):
I feel great after that. Now they would been tired
no matter what.
Speaker 3 (13:27):
You know what, they could have gotten him, stolen him
at least two minutes, like Tibbs did.
Speaker 1 (13:31):
It's by a time that when family or significant others
get involved, it's never good. It's never good for that player.
And it wasn't good for Halliburton tonight, and I feel
bad for you, honest.
Speaker 3 (13:43):
Yeah, But now I want to know if there was
a backstory of Beef where the whole time he's been
drawn with this guy for years and had no idea
it was Halving Burton's old man.
Speaker 4 (13:51):
Wait wait, wait, backstory of Beef?
Speaker 1 (13:55):
Good exit? How about a fresca at Dome? Jason Smith,
Mike Harmon coming up next, Yes, more big drama from

Speaker 4 (16:09):
We'll continue on with the show.
Speaker 1 (16:11):
Once you hear Nicholas Cage do his purple rain impression,
which is happening right here.
Speaker 4 (16:21):
You think it's over.
Speaker 1 (16:22):
No, no, no, they say it again, and I think,
if I've heard the show before, it's one more time.
Speaker 4 (16:37):
Yeah, I feel good about that. Now Piston's made it.
Speaker 3 (16:40):
Rain only want to see tips putting Brunson back in
to the game.
Speaker 4 (16:50):
Put him in the game, put him in the game.
Speaker 3 (16:55):
Wow. I never want to be a sit to the
scores table guy guitar solo. All right, now, we'll get
to TIBs in the second. But game that just ended
a few moments ago. The Nuggets have a three to
two lead over the Clippers after a big victory in
Game five. It looked like the Clippers might be able
to cut the lead, but the Nuggets really kept control
(17:19):
of the game, showed some life for a minute, a
little bit.
Speaker 1 (17:21):
Yeah, yeah, it was a minute, every short amount of time.
But a huge night for Jamal Murray, who did whatever
he wanted to forty three points tonight, leading the Nuggets
there one game out, one game away from getting to
the second round of the playoffs. And I want to
say this now, because we talked about this when it happened,
right this is nuts. This is first guessing, what is
(17:43):
nobody talking about now this series?
Speaker 4 (17:45):
Right now?
Speaker 3 (17:46):
What is nobody talking about that? Everybody had an opinion
on that, every thought this is the worst thing in
the world. You don't do this. You're killing your team
right before the playoffs start. You never do this killing
your father, Larry.
Speaker 1 (18:01):
Nobody is talking about how Michael, less than a week
to go before the playoffs that the Nuggets fired Michael Malone.
Speaker 4 (18:11):
I don't do this.
Speaker 3 (18:11):
It's the worst thing. No, we told you when it happened.
If a change has to be made, it doesn't matter
what the timing is. If it's bad and your to don't.
You don't need to watch a team go through a
really disappointing first round exit because the players are unplugged.
Make a change. You're not bringing somebody brand new in
where Hey, I got a whole new philosophy. We're gonna
play with four. Trust me, it's gonna be great. We're
(18:33):
gonna space the FLOORSA. No, you're still playing the same
basketball as we've seen it. During timeouts, nikolea. Jokinch takes
his turns coaching the team. Sometimes just being.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
Free from a situation that is no longer tenable is
the best thing you can do for a team. Because
players feel better. They feel better, they're happier to come
to work. A happy player is a good player. All
these things that you've heard before are true and if
Michael Malone it didn't work, it doesn't matter who's faulted.
Speaker 4 (19:00):
What doesn't matter.
Speaker 3 (19:01):
Well, Michael Malone said this, they were playing hard for him.
They tuned them out and they weren't listening to them anymore.
A change, hassmen, Why would you want to give away
a playoff and go, Well, we thought we wanted to
get rid of our coach. Now we saw a disappointing
first round loss of the Clippers where we should have
played better and we didn't, so we should have done
it here. We're gonna do it right now. No, they
do it ahead of time. Where are they right now?
One game away from going to the second round of
(19:21):
the playoffs and nobody, nobody is saying how the Nuggets
have ruined their season, torpedoed everything, they've ruined everything they've
worked for. That is not even a topic which tells
you it's the right move. When someone has to go,
they have to go. And if you decided to get
it right, I mean we apply it pretty liberally across
the media. One of guys like start talking about retirement, Okay, bye,
(19:45):
go play for somebody else and then stend your career
another year you gotta thing, you.
Speaker 1 (19:50):
Say, sprinkle it liberally, And all I think of is
like putting suntan lotion, like all, because is there anything
else you put you sprinkle liberally on anywhere than suntan lotion.
It's a fair point. I don't think anything else you
sprinkle liberally.
Speaker 3 (20:02):
Well, I mean, depending on how much you like salt bay.
Speaker 4 (20:05):
Well, baby, all suntanos. It's the same thing.
Speaker 3 (20:07):
It's it's kind of the same same thing. Uh, well,
it's it's the same lotions oils. We're getting into a
weird space here, people.
Speaker 1 (20:14):
It's from the same it's from the same fer it's
from the same family.
Speaker 4 (20:20):
But nothing else.
Speaker 1 (20:20):
Like I don't say, there ago, I am liberally spreading
cream cheese.
Speaker 3 (20:23):
On a bagel. I just go, I'm putting tons of
cream cheese on the You know what, Now.
Speaker 4 (20:27):
You don't liberally spread them?
Speaker 3 (20:28):
Well, I like to class up the language that I
use when describing these things. But don't use jelly, that's right. Uh.
There's a great shot of Adelman from before the game
where he's just sitting there in a empty arena, just
staring staring at things. They were a two point underdog
at home, which I thought was kind of an interesting
(20:50):
little thing. I mean, it turned out, it turned out
really well for me. But to your point, like if
it's done right, relationships, jobs, whatever, if you if you
know what's on Hannibal, and you had Kronky talk about
it quite a great length, Like normally will you get
one or two lines about a coaching change and you
move on. It's like, no, we were grappling with this
a long while, and we had a bunch of wins
(21:13):
that covered up the problems we were having because they
were beating And you go back and look at the schedule,
there beat a bunch of bum teams, but you're stacking wins,
so it's easy to just say it's going well, let's
see how it plays out. No, no, no, If it's bad,
get it out of there. And they did what it
means going forward, I don't know, but they've got a
three to two lead moving forward. But then Jamal Murray
(21:36):
playoff guys showed up.
Speaker 1 (21:37):
Clearly it's not a topic. You're playing a good team.
The Clippers are a good team. Very jekyling hod. You
don't really know what kind of Clipper team is going.
This has been the Clippers for the past few years.
Speaker 4 (21:44):
Oh this is the year.
Speaker 3 (21:45):
Yeah right, this well, it's like when they made that
run to make it a nine point game with four
minutes left. It's like I sat forward for about a
half a second, then it was back to fourteen before
you blink.
Speaker 4 (21:54):
Yeah no it didn't work out. Okay, that's it.
Speaker 3 (21:57):
Jamal Murray hit another shot.
Speaker 1 (21:59):
The Clippers just good enough to win a few games here,
They're just good enough to be dangerous. Right, Hey, if
you're not careful, you'll lose to the Clippers. But I
mean they're not consistent enough. But it's still a good team.
But there's not like if you if this happened in
the first round and Michael Malone was the coach, you
wouldn't even bat an eye. You say, Oka, yeah, they're
up three too, it's a forty. But this shows you
that when a move's gotta be bade and what's got
(22:21):
to be made, can't just wait. You can't postpone the future.
It's another thing I always lived by. You can't postpone
the future. And then the Nuggets made a great gutsy,
ballsy move by saying we're changing our head coach.
Speaker 3 (22:31):
Were you kind of going Saturday Night fever there, but
you didn't go fulling.
Speaker 6 (22:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (22:35):
I spend a lot of time on my hair and
he hits it. He's always hitting my hair, my hair,
he's hitting it. No, no, no, blank the future. No, no, no,
you can't blank the future. The future blinds you. I
thought you were gonna go Eckhart, think about the future.
Et cart turns around. He was somebody. Oh, the guy
(22:56):
playing at Cart. He turned out to be somebody in
another big movie like years later. I'm like, that's Lieutenant Eckhart,
get me, Lieutenant Eckhart. He turned out to be somebody.
I'm trying to think who it is, but he was
like in something and I'm like, oh my William Perkins, okay,
pulling up his uh IMDb here.
Speaker 4 (23:16):
Don't forget your lucky deck Jack.
Speaker 3 (23:22):
One of my favorites. So he was in Star Wars.
Speaker 4 (23:27):
Oh yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (23:28):
Was he Porkins? Yeah, that's who he was, right, it
was before he was Porkins. Stay on Target. Yeah, he
was Porkins in the seventies and then he was at Cart.
That's right, that's what it was like, like twenty years
before he was Porkins.
Speaker 4 (23:39):
How about that? Yeah? By sorry Porkins. Rest in peace.
Speaker 3 (23:43):
But uh, well, I mean everybody except for Luke and
Moissary spoiler at him and Wedge the Mets kill him.
Speaker 4 (23:48):
No stuff, Oh I know about it.
Speaker 1 (23:50):
Oh by the way, Uh, let's have a moment to
appreciate Seymour Weiener for a second.
Speaker 6 (23:55):
Here.
Speaker 1 (23:55):
Yeah, a guy the Mets, a guy the Mets honored
at one of their games last year. And yes, his
name is Seymour Wiener. He was the oldest say that,
yes I can, because that was his name. He was
the oldest living soldier from World War Two and it
happened he happened to have a name that. Wow, he
really could have made he get a gune winer and thing,
I really do you think people aren't gonna just say,
(24:17):
oh I found Seymour Okay, Domina, I'm gona ca him Wiener?
Speaker 4 (24:19):
And I think people don't think people would think he
was an alcoholic. He passed, not.
Speaker 1 (24:23):
When they see the spelling. Uh passed away today at
the age of ninety eight. Again hounted by the man.
He even talked about it ted fun. Yeah, people make
fun of it all the time, But this is a guy,
one of the most decorated UH officers, soldiers in our history.
And and Mets made a great thing for him last year,
and I couldn't believe his name was Seymour Wiener.
Speaker 3 (24:40):
And well and they did a dollar dog night, Yeah celebration.
Speaker 2 (24:44):
There you go.
Speaker 4 (24:45):
Fantastic.
Speaker 3 (24:46):
They should have another.
Speaker 1 (24:47):
Yeah, maybe they will, Maybe they will. Maybe I'll have
it on Tom Thibodeau should be fired night.
Speaker 4 (24:52):
That could win.
Speaker 3 (24:53):
They came, when's that? Five days? Five days? Thursday? They can't.
They have to get the game. So it's Thursday. Look,
you just got the press release.
Speaker 1 (25:02):
The Knicks lose tonight to the Pistons one six, one
o three. And we talked about this last hour. I
saw this loss coming, or not that I always see,
oh b I see a lot of things coming, because
I knew this is what the Knicks do. They show
up flat for big games at MSG and that's exactly
what happened tonight. But the end of the game, Tibbs
did something that's gonna make my big bold prediction from
before the playoffs come true, because I told you, hey,
(25:24):
if the Knicks lose the first round playoffs, Tibbs is
gonna get fired.
Speaker 3 (25:29):
And we talked about it with Rick Buker.
Speaker 1 (25:30):
Rick said, you know, I haven't heard anything about him
being in trouble, but yeah, I can kind of see
if they lose in the first round. They went all
in on this year, right they went out, we give
a five first round picks from at Calibridges, make the
trade for Karl Anthony Towns. Defensively, we're no good anymore.
All our identity that Tibbs brought us, we've lost. So
I said, yeah, it's gonna be somebody new in it.
Maybe it's Jay Wright, maybe it's Danny Hurley, maybe it's
(25:53):
Bobby Hurley, but.
Speaker 3 (25:56):
Maybe it's James O'Hurley.
Speaker 1 (25:58):
Jason, and you're fired. Uh, but it's gonna happen now
after tonight. That bold prediction is absolutely coming to you.
It's at the door, Yeah, it's at the doorstep. Tonight,
Tibbs has Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart aren't in the game,
and they go to the scorer's table to check in.
With about two and a half three minutes left to
(26:19):
go in the game and the Knicks have one time
out left, Tibbs doesn't want to use it. Instead, he
waits until there's twenty seven seconds left in the game
and then calls time out. To get Tibbs and Josh
Hart back in the game because they had not gotten
in because there were no stoppages, And that is absolutely unforgivable.
(26:41):
I understand that Tibbs, Hey, I got one time out left.
I don't want to I don't want to blow it.
But he decided having a timeout in his back pocket
was more important than having your best player on the
court who makes all the clutch shots all, not just some.
He makes all the clutch shots. He makes the team go.
He would rather have had Jalen Brunson on the bench
(27:03):
and a timeout, right. Just think about that philosophy for
a second. And it's not like the backup guards who
were in the game were lighting the world on fire
and they were Hey, we were coming back against the Pistons. No,
the Pistons kept their lead and the Knicks couldn't get in.
They couldn't get back. Then their best player is not playing,
and he could have been in the game two and
a half minutes earlier. Now, maybe not two and a half, Hey,
(27:24):
go to the scorers table, check in. But after thirty
forty five seconds, after a couple of possessions, okay, you
got to get back in the game.
Speaker 4 (27:30):
In here.
Speaker 1 (27:30):
Under two minutes left, we get closer to him. You
got to get back in the game. There's a lot
of game left. You got to get back in here.
You're our best player and heart makes a lot of
big clutch plays too. But let's focus on Brunton because
let me go back. Oh yeah, he's the knixt best player.
And this is why, this is how Tibbs is going
to get fired after the series is over, because if
they lose this series up three to one, and you lose,
(27:51):
your best player is not in the game. No other
NBA coach is making this goal. Even Doc Rivers with
three minutes to go, hey, let me call it hime out,
be honest, back in the game. Even he's getting Yannis
back in. JJ Reddick is not standing on the sidelines
with an arms folded going yeah, I'll get Lebron and
Luca back in the game, but I want to hold
onto my time out so the last three minutes of
this game, they're not gonna be in there. I really JB.
(28:13):
Bickerstaff had to be looking going, how the hell is
this guy the coach?
Speaker 4 (28:16):
Right?
Speaker 1 (28:16):
Okay, I'm okay, I'm eminently okay. Without their best player
on the floor. No NBA coach makes that move. They
call a timeouts. Okay, I lose my last time out,
will adjust. But I have my best players on the floor,
and including my best player on the team, I don't
care that he wasn't having a great game. Jalen Brunson
is the guy that makes this team go. And again,
(28:37):
go back way back to like ninety seconds ago when
I said he makes all their clutch shots. He makes
everything happen at the end of the game. He's got
the ball in his hands all the time. And Tim said,
I'd rather have a timeout than getting him back in
the game. That's gonna get him fired. It's the advanced
stat we never knew we needed. Yeah, water is what
What is a time out worth? It's worth It's apparently
(28:59):
it's worth two half to and half playing. And there's
a giant picture of him there there. That's now our
new mode of currency. I don't have a crypto coin
that I've created, but we're gonna mint this. A timeout
is worth two and a half minutes of Brunson. Because
for Thibodeau, it's it's on fathom fathom bull. It's tough
(29:20):
word to say unfathomable. Yeah, unfathomable, very difficult to go
through the process.
Speaker 3 (29:26):
Because he was very glib about it in his postgame
as he as he's wont to do. I mean, it
was a typical Thibodeaux.
Speaker 1 (29:32):
Response, he said, he said, there's a lot of things
to go into that decision. Oh well, if there's a
lot of things.
Speaker 3 (29:36):
Oh no, wait, you're the coach, you'll get paid millions
of dollars to make that decision.
Speaker 4 (29:41):
That's you.
Speaker 1 (29:41):
That's not me, three thousand miles away going where's Jayalen
Brunson put him in the game?
Speaker 4 (29:46):
That's me three thousand miles away.
Speaker 3 (29:48):
On the plus side, I mean, he's not throwing a
paycheck from the next no, no one, just.
Speaker 4 (29:51):
As far as we know exactly.
Speaker 3 (29:55):
But at least he didn't go into the locker room
with that time out in his pocket.
Speaker 1 (30:00):
He finally had to use to get him back in
the game with twenty seven seconds left.
Speaker 4 (30:04):
Why did you use the time out?
Speaker 3 (30:06):
Tibbs?
Speaker 4 (30:06):
Well, I wanted to use it.
Speaker 3 (30:08):
After you know, the three minutes, but then there was
no stop at to play, so with twenty seven seconds left,
I used it out of spite.
Speaker 1 (30:14):
Gods, I use it because I knew you guys could
get mad at me if I didn't hear. Well, oh,
so we're not gonna get mad at you by not
having your best player in the game for last time.
That's a pretty easy thing. That's a pretty easy thing. Hey,
is this the most important time of the game. Yes, okay,
what about your best player not gonna play rather have
a timeout?
Speaker 4 (30:31):
In his defense, the best player was in the game.
Kate Cunningham was on the game.
Speaker 3 (30:35):
Eleven or twelve from the line, the only guy that
hit free throws with any consistency in that game, the
best evening.
Speaker 4 (30:41):
The best player that Tibbs could have put on his team.
Oh I thought you said the best player in that game.
Speaker 3 (30:45):
Well he also was prosperg.
Speaker 4 (30:47):
Yeah, you know we're up three to two year down
three one. Just understand that got the Wolves right where
we want to.
Speaker 3 (30:52):
Hey, I thought you were gonna go full Danny Divino.
I'm big, you're little, I'm smart, you're never We're getting
you honest to find out what's trending in the wide
world of sports.
Speaker 1 (31:02):
But guy who's been called the Jalen Brunson of Fox
Sports Radio, that's because with a couple minutes left in
big games, he sits and watches him as well. It's
deeve to say I thought you were saying I went
four for sixteen on updates Today, Detroit.
Speaker 4 (31:16):
Was a winner at New York one O.
Speaker 8 (31:18):
Six, one O three, and in such a close game
the Knicks bench on free throws three for nine. Boston
eliminated Orlando in a game five victory, won twenty to
eighty nine. Celtics outscored him in the third quarter by
twenty three. Jason Tatum finished with thirty five points in
ten assist. Indiana won its Game five to eliminate Milwaukee
and a comeback in overtime. One nineteen one eighteen. Indiana
(31:41):
at home was down by twenty early in the second quarter,
and with thirty five seconds left in the ot Pacers
were down by seven. Milwaukee with two late turnovers Tyrese
Halliburton five late points. He finished with twenty six. Indiana
goes to Cleveland next Game one of that second round
series is Sunday. Denver's up three games to two after
(32:02):
beating the Clippers in the late contest one thirty one
one fifteen. Jamal Murray forty three points. The NBA rookie
of the year is the Spurs Stephan Castle. The Kings
are finalizing a deal to keep Doug Christie as head coach.
And the NHL playoffs, Vegas was an overtime winner over
Minnesota three to two, up in the series three games
to two. Now Carolina one its first rounder with a
(32:23):
Game five come back double overtime win against New Jersey
five to four. Hurricanes had trailed three nothing after the
first period. Ottawa was up one nothing at Toronto and
the third four nothing the final to stay alive with
the Game five win. Edmonton up three games to two
after beating the Kings in LA three, won the final.
Vancouver coach Rick Tocket stepped down the forty nine Ers
(32:44):
gave tight end George Kittle a four year extension. The
Viking sign linebacker Andrew van Ginkele. He gets a one
year extension.
Speaker 4 (32:52):
Now four for seventeen and updates to see the.
Speaker 8 (32:55):
Good Washington signed kicker Matt Gay and released kickers, saying
Gonzala the late game. In baseball, Dodgers fifteen to two
winners over Miami, ta Oscar Hernandez four hits four RBIs.
He has more RBIs than Aaron Judge, so far this year,
Judge and the Yankees won fifteen to three.
Speaker 3 (33:11):
Yet Baltimore didn't Key Y Hernandez get the save in
that game.
Speaker 8 (33:15):
At fifteen to two. Are they just doling out saves
to anybody?
Speaker 2 (33:18):
No?
Speaker 4 (33:19):
Do you see me? He also wore his batting helmet
while he pitched. Yes, he wore his batting.
Speaker 8 (33:23):
Him all over protection.
Speaker 4 (33:24):
Yes. And in a.
Speaker 1 (33:25):
Throwback to the World Series, you know, he throws that
big knuckleball. They hit a ground ball to first base
and he stood on the mound.
Speaker 4 (33:32):
That's right.
Speaker 3 (33:32):
It's like, dude, you saw the World Series. You know
you got to cover first base if you're pitching.
Speaker 4 (33:37):
He was doing his carrot cole in person. Won the
World Series because you saw that happen.
Speaker 8 (33:42):
No PfP practice for him at spring training, only BP.
So the Dodgers are twenty and ten they beat Miami,
and the Yankees are eighteen and twelve after the win
at Baltimore fifteen to three. By the way, the first
three batters of that game for the Yanks homeward against
loser Kyle Gibson, who wound up allowing solo homers in
his season debut in three and two thirds. Saint Louis
(34:04):
at Cincinnati, rained out doubleheaded. Tomorrow, Cubs won nine nothing
at Pittsburgh. Cub starter and winners show to Emnaugha left
in the sixth due to leg cramps. Cleveland had about
a three hour rain delay at the start. Eventually, a
home run in the ninth got the Guardians a two
to one win over Minnesota. Philadelphia at two in the
bottom of the ninth, that's Washington seven to six. The
(34:24):
Mets are twenty one and nine. They led Arizona eight
nothing in the fourth, eight three the final, Texas fifteen
to two over the A's. The win did Jacob de
Gram with six scoreless innings seven strikeouts. San Diego over
the Giant seven to four, and Atlanta sent Colorado to
an eighth straight loss eight to two, while the Braves
have won nine of eleven. Yeah, it's a four and
twenty five record. Now for Colorado, back to you, Thank.
Speaker 1 (34:47):
You, Steve ol The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmon
coming up next. So we have teams on the brink
after tonight in the NBA Playoffs? Are we going to
see two series wrap up?
Speaker 3 (34:57):
Tomorrow?
Speaker 1 (34:58):
We give you our Big Bowl prediction for Game six Warriors, Rockets, Lakers,
Tea Wolves. That's next Jason and Mike Fox.
Speaker 3 (35:12):
La La La LoVa ch Chicken, La La La LoVa in.
Speaker 4 (35:18):
The world Chicken Jockey Steve's love a Chicken. It's tasty
as hell. Then Mallard next, I'm gonna let this run.
Speaker 3 (35:32):
And he's on of the road.
Speaker 2 (35:36):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific, Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (35:45):
The Jason Smith Show with My best friend Mike Harmon.
A big night full of drama in the NBA Playoffs.
Tim's is gonna get fired, John is gonna be on
a new team. So just an average night. Just it's
just an average the NBA Playoff. Yeah, man, it's just
your average Tuesday, that's all.
Speaker 3 (36:05):
So now we head into two big game fives tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (36:09):
The Warriors can put.
Speaker 1 (36:10):
Away the Rockets with a win and the Lakers would
go home, and boy would that be something. As they
take on the Timberwolves. Let's deal with the Warriors and
the Rockets first. I'm really surprised the Warriors are up
three to one, right, I didn't think they could have
an entire series where they would be able to pull
off the magic that they pulled off during the end
(36:31):
of the season and into the playing round. But here
they are in a situation in which they're up three
to one. It's an older team. Yeah, I'm thinking the
Rockets win tomorrow. I'm thinking the Rockets win pretty big
and the Warriors, Okay, let's go back, Let's regroup and
(36:52):
be ready and give it our best shot in game six.
Speaker 3 (36:54):
I'm thinking that. I'm thinking that's what happens tomorrow. You
don't think that crafty, crazy Draymond Green can get and
everybody's hand.
Speaker 4 (37:02):
He's crazy, Draymuga. No, we can.
Speaker 1 (37:04):
But again, this is an older team, and I think
trying to come in and go I don't think that's
gonna happen. I think the Rockets are pissed. I think
they get their heads on straight because Draymond Green's been
in their heads for the last since the beginning of
the series. They pull they pull off with a big
win in Game five.
Speaker 3 (37:22):
For the edification of our audience, Would they win by
more or less than four points?
Speaker 4 (37:28):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (37:28):
Oh, I say more than four points. They win by
fifteen to twenty points. There we go minus four all right,
Now let's get to the Lakers and the Tea Wolves.
Speaker 1 (37:38):
The Lakers could finish their season. How do you think
it goes Tom Harmon's got his thumbs up, his thumb
goes down. You think it's the walking You think it's
the t Wolves.
Speaker 3 (37:50):
Tomorrow night, Mike Harmon, Watt Will JJ Reddick learn from
the second half of this last game? Will We're gonna
see if we can run you into the ground? He went,
Tim Know, he went Tibodeau, keep going, keep going some no,
keep going. God, we didn't. We weren't tired. Where everything
was good. Yeah, you had some some calls down the
(38:12):
stretch that he had to go back and take some
looks at Lakers five and a half point favorites at home.
The expectation that you get the rotation back in full
effect and the secondary players step up. I think they're gassed.
I think they're done. You to say that, I can
(38:34):
you get ask for my salary?
Speaker 4 (38:36):
Are they done in this series? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (38:39):
But I'm gonna take the Lakers to postpone it for
a game. Okay, you will see some generous So you
will see some generous uh, some generous things from some
people in black pants and gray shirts. Tomorrow, the Lakers
will have their last big effort of the year. They
(39:00):
staved off. Luca doesn't want to You've got the word
Stavida da.
Speaker 4 (39:05):
Luca doesn't want to go home.
Speaker 1 (39:06):
He knows it's a different thing for him where I'm
not accepting. I can see Lebron accepting stuff. But Luca
has a big game tomorrow. They finish strong, get you
thinking for Game six is great, and then they get
wiped out. But tomorrow, I'll take the Lakers with enough
at home again, a little bit of help from some
people who have a little bit of in that's five
(39:27):
and a half points work. I would I would say, yes,
I would, I will. I will take both the Lakers
and the Rockets tomorrow to win and cover the number.
Speaker 3 (39:39):
How many times do you think they went through their
out of bound sequencing? Who's watched a tap more of
the second half the Lakers or Tom Tibodeau? Oh, Tims
is not wide they're burning that thing.
Speaker 4 (39:53):
You don't think he was watching that? No starters?
Speaker 1 (39:56):
Okay, wait, goes, That's what I've been I had to
do all along, right, Who's watched Who's watched more tape?
On on turning the ball over in final minutes of
the game, JJ Reddick or Doc Rivers.
Speaker 4 (40:09):
Too soon for that.
Speaker 3 (40:13):
Doc, Doc almost got out on school.
Speaker 1 (40:15):
I'll tell you man that the Bucks make Lebronza turnover
look like an alley youp do.
Speaker 4 (40:19):
That's true.
Speaker 3 (40:20):
It was failing in spectacular fashion. All Gary Trent Junior
had to do was catch the ball. Yeah they didn't.
Didn't catch it, didn't catch.
Speaker 4 (40:28):
All you had to do was catch the ball. Exit.
Speaker 1 (40:29):
How about a Fresco exit swollen dome for Mike. I'm Jason.
Coming up next, It's Nuggets Talk with Ben Maller, the
birthday Boy, right here on Fox Sports Radio. Matt SiO,
Happy birthday, Ben,
