the La Clippers, Yeah look great for a few minutes.
(01:06):
Yeah they're very then they look great topsy turvy, then
they don't. Then they look great, then they don't. The
Nuggets with a ninety one eighty lead right now late
in the third quarter of the series, tied to two
games apiece, Aaron Gord at the free throw line. We'll
have more on this game coming up, but boy, I'll
tell you we had some kind of doubleheader of controversy tonight,
(01:28):
the Knicks lost to the Pistons and Tom Thibodeau deciding
I'd rather have a time out than my best player
in the game in the final three minutes. Yeah, it's
gonna get your fire tips. That's gonna get you, though.
The the advancement of the Knicks, like say they were
able to finish this series off, okay, or being right
with TIBs getting shown the door. Oo see, I really
(01:52):
like being right. I know you do. I really like
being I gonna be Doc Rivers though, but oh that
is true, dude, I will tell you TIBs are rivers. No,
I'll tell you, you know, I guarantee if no, don't
do that. What happened. We're gonna get to Gianni's coming
up in a minute. But after what happened tonight, if
Tibbs winds up getting fired, and he will, if the
(02:12):
Knicks blow this series, right, he will this is, this
is being a Knicks fan. Now we're up three too,
It's tell the glove we're gonna lose. He blows this series.
He'll be coaching the Bucks next year. Look at that
means Doc Rivers, so TIBs that no Doc Rivers. Doc
Rivers will be on television being very entertaining on MSG.
And when we're getting Danny Hurley, I mean, I know
how many times you have to say it, we'll wind
up getting Danny Hurley, who for sure or or or
(02:38):
or we get Jay Wright because we need the guy
that made it work for Villanova. We're gonna work here.
I guarantee, I guarantee you. Jay Wright would have gotten
Jalen Brunson back in the game in the final three minutes.
He just said, hey, hey, time out, let's get my
best player back in the game. He tapped out, come on, Dan,
come on, No, no, he's he's recharging. He's recharging charging.
He didn't want to deal with the n I L
(02:59):
world and all that crazy yeah stuff. No, I get now,
he's we're charging. No one's deal with pros all together.
How would you like to deal with players you coached
all the way to the NBA. Great, Can we get
Devincenzo back? Sure? I don't know they were in a
commercial together. Maybe that'll work. I trade bridges for Devi
Chenzo to get him back. Uh. But while that is
absolutely gonna happen with the next absolutely that'll happen if
(03:22):
they lose in the first round. What is now next
for the Bucks following this disaster of a final game
against the Pacers. The Pacers are down seven with forty
seconds slept and this is a great Hey plant the
flag type moment for the for the Bucks not having
Damian Lillard, who is now out for the rest of
the playoffs and probably most of next season with the
(03:44):
torn achilles. Giannis goes thirty twenty to ten tonight to
do everything he can. Yeah, seven point lead with the
final seven seconds and because of misfree throws and turnovers,
Tyre's Halliburton hits the game winning layup and after the
game is over, Halliburton's dad comes on the court gets
in Jannie's face, trolling him so much so that both
(04:07):
Jannis and Halliburton had to talk about it after the game.
Halliburton said, did disagree with my dad? Did there shouldn't
have done? That this is how Jannie is going out right,
This is this tells me one hundred percent, Jannis needs
to get out. Well and you go out, you go
out fighting all of them. He needs to get out.
This is this is this is that moment where you
go when did you know it was over in Milwaukee? Honest? Well,
(04:28):
when we blew a seven point lead with forty seconds
left to go and Halliburton's dad is yelling at me
on the court, can I get a Panini instant card
D That's that's when I'm a picture of Halliburton's dad
waving the towel and looking at him, going, what are
we doing? I can't believe they don't have it already. Well,
soon enough we'll see. I mean, he's it's a towel
with with with I mean, it's just this is how
(04:51):
it goes for you, honest, And I'm gonna be honest
with you. Going into this game. I said, Okay, all
of the Yannesty's gonna get out. Jannis is gonna be
an x buck. Let's top the brakes on that, because
here's a season where let's see how things go. And
also the Bucks will have an offseason to figure things out.
To get another star player in here. Let's see how
it goes. The don't really have much in the way
of room is the probably don't right. They see it
(05:11):
out before they made the trade, before they traded for Lillard,
They did everything, But losing this game is one of
those moments where you say, boy, if I was kind
of teetering either way on do I ask for a
trade or do I stay? This is the game in
this end convinces me we are no closer to a
championship than we were four years ago. Since it was
seven witths to go only a few seconds left. Does
(05:33):
it make you start thinking about Reggie Miller at all?
You having flashbacks when you start voicing those kind of numbers.
But I mean Yannis for the end of game, right,
Halliburton makes the shot on him, so he's already salty
because defensively he couldn't get the stop, and then the
old man's out on the court and he's just staring
(05:53):
him down and starts screaming at him, losing his mind.
Jannis has just kind of take it in the moment,
realize the season's done right, like it was just that
the gravity of that moment, followed by the ten seconds
later when the old man runs out with the towels,
like I can only imagine what's going through his mind
(06:14):
that much. I'm looking at him, and what's going through
my mind, Like if I could read his mind, it's
I gotta get out of this place, man, I gotta
get out of this. We just blew a seven board.
We lost in the first round again. Right, this is
this is a This is a exclamation point on. Yannis
needs to demand a trade and do it nicely, right,
(06:34):
do it very amicably. He's been that the Bucks organization
has done everything they could to try to make it
a winning situation. This is not this is not anything
that is that is awful. This is just his time
with the Bucks. He's thirty years old, probably has about
four or five more peak years left. He's a bigger player.
He's gonna break down a little bit earlier. He plays low,
(06:55):
so he doesn't have as many peak years left as
you think. He's got about four five years and it's
not working in Milwaukee. Four years in a row in
the first round. It's not getting better. They've made the
moves they've needed to. I'm not saying they've done things.
They know they went out and got Damian Lowan, and
I thought they were gonna run the East When they
got Damian, I said, this is exactly who what they need.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
Man.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
You talk about an inside out game with him and Lillard,
This is what they need. And still Lillard is hurt.
It doesn't work out. Last year they lose in the
first round. Again. He can't sit around. He's got to
start thinking what do I want my legacy to be?
And the best players all get to that point. Shaq
got to that point. New, I gotta get out of Orlando.
I gotta get someplace else to win a championship, Kad New,
(07:35):
I got to get out of Oklahoma City. I gotta
go someplace where I can win a championship. And he
goes to Golden State and he wins a couple. Shaq
wins four. He's got to have that legacy moment. Now.
The good news is he's got one, and he won
with a fifty point game in the deciding game, which
it's a legendary all time game. But the rest of
his career, like dude, you want to pile up championships,
He's got to go and it's got to be a
situation where it's amicable, right, I said, I don't want it.
(07:59):
I don't want it to be better, and I want
Yani to say you're gonna trade me. If the Bucks
say we're not, oh, I can make it bad because
you know, star players always get what they want in
the NBA, they always get what they want. You don't
want to have them to hold their breath and not
look at you, but that's exactly what players do. Hopefully
this is something where both sides understand, all right, you
want to move on, let us get whatever we can
(08:20):
for you, because we can get a lot because he's
locked in for another couple of years in his contract.
You know what you're paying. It's not like you don't
know what the payday is gonna be. And you should
have the big Yannis sweepstakes in the offseason, and they're
gonna be teams that gonna come at you and say
we'll give you X, Y and Z. You will have
a big haul for Yannis. Trust me, you will get it.
And if I'm y honest, I can't waste any more time.
(08:42):
And I wait the appropriate amount, and I approach the
Bucks and I say I need to go someplace else.
I no longer have confidence that we're gonna be able
to build a championship team. I spent great years here,
but I want to move on and let's make it.
Let's find a way to make it happen, and hopefully
the Bucks realize. Okay, it's gonna end if he wants out.
It's gonna end with him going out. Anyway, let's make
(09:02):
the move. But Giannis, I went from twenty four hours
agoing yeah, I don't know to now, Yes, absolutely he
should ask out and it should be the big story
of the offseason. Where does Jannison? Who's John Horst's their
GM's best friend, best friend Mike Harmon? Well, but the
question is, can think they pull off a thing like
the good old Nico and plinkt it? Hey, you didn't
(09:22):
actually go to the market. Maybe Polinka is a second
might be his guy, I don't know him and Nico
the three of them played cards together. Hey here is
let's let's play. Let's play, let's play. I don't know
one more loss. Milinka, even with a new extension, is
going to have to make some movies. How about this trade?
Straight up? Janni's for Austin Reeves. Boy, I'll tell you
at least the Bucks get a sharpshooter, but the Lakers
get Yannis. Now Jannis has two years remaining out his
(09:46):
deal and then the third years of player option. You
look at a guy who's been very durable during his career.
He's played at least sixty games in every season in
the last couple of years. Yeah, he's missed some time,
but we've come to expect that with the rigors of
a season, and it's just become more accepted. And he
(10:08):
is getting older. It's year twelve in the league, because
that's that's a large thing. You say, I say thirty
years old, Think, yeah, that's twelve years in a league.
And we've normalized, you know, length of careers. And for
a guy that plays the style he has, he hasn't
fully become a jump shooter, although he's more confident than
(10:29):
he used to be in that regard, but it's still
playing a lot of body bruising kind of possessions. And
when you get towards the playoffs. Now, to his benefit,
I guess he's had a couple of early exits, so
he didn't play that extra month and a half of basketball.
See what I did there, I got the dig at
the Bucks while still praising Giannis there and saying that
(10:49):
he's got some left in the tank because he didn't
play an extra twenty games these last couple of years.
But you're at fifty four fifty six million estimated per season, which, again,
given the numbers in the NBA, that's not an insurmountable
feat to match up salaries and make something work and
begin the rebuild process. You know, you mentioned all the
(11:12):
guys that left and went on their ways. I mean,
Shack's the one that I always love, is the the
vagabond years of Shack because you go and put together
a run of his trading cards. There are a few
guys because most of the guys that bounce around like that,
the sets aren't big enough that they make cards of
those guys. Yeah, but here's the Shack, Like, Wow, he
just doesn't look right in that uniformity. But for you, honest,
(11:35):
I mean, I guess the one hundred and seventy five
million dollar question, plus whatever an extension would be, is
does he want to be the one team guy? Right?
Do you go back to the humble origins, the kid
from Greece and everything else? Family? And yeah, the answer
is yes, he's going to be an incredible fit with Luca.
(11:56):
There you have it. See, so Frostburg in his mind
has the photoshop jersey. He may have ordered one already.
I don't know, so let's get it. Did you have
it space right with the lettering. It's just a g
It's just that we're just gonna call him just freaking
the sheets. Let's hear from Jannis, who addressed his future
with the Bucks, what he's thinking about going into the
(12:18):
off season. This is Yannis from a few moments ago.
I love Lakers. Luca called me, okay, that's a little
bit too Eastern European, not as much sun. That's very
Greek though he was trying to speak to Luca, so
he he he had an effect. You were very you
were very much red guardian from the Thunder that was
his Greek dise and got a name will be Thunderbolts.
(12:39):
Please don't make it that. Yes, we are greatst team.
Not not a bad run for a guy who was
trying to argue his character should have been killed off
in season one of Stranger Things. All right, So, uh,
here's Jannis, the real Yannis, not not Yannis if he
if he grew up in Austria. Uh. Here is Yannis
following the game getting beer.
Speaker 3 (13:00):
Johannas, you've always kind of stated about wanting to win
and win championships and win his second championship and how
important it is to you. Do you think that you
can still win that second championship here in Milwaukee after
third straight first run exit.
Speaker 2 (13:15):
Look, I'm not, I'm not. I'm not going to do this.
Speaker 1 (13:18):
Oh oh Bakers, I'm not.
Speaker 2 (13:21):
I'm not going to do this.
Speaker 4 (13:22):
Now, this is going to do whatever I say. I
know it's gonna translate.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
I'm not. I don't know, man, you're late. I wish
I was still playing.
Speaker 4 (13:30):
I wish I was still like competing and going back
to Milwaukee out.
Speaker 1 (13:34):
I don't know whoa In other words, no, I don't
think so that that's the question you answered to say, Absolutely,
I think I think we can win. We got to
look at some things in the off season, but absolutely
I think we can win. You can always go back
off of that and say, hey, when I saw the
direction of the team, I wasn't as confident or I
thought this and this. But when you say I don't
(13:54):
know right away, and your gut reaction is I don't
know that means Yon by everybody, everybody open your doors.
Yannis is coming well here in La. There's a lot
of striking going on. I think back to the image
of Sally Field from Norma ray Or. She's standing up
on the table with the sign that says union. And
while we hear that, we don't have the video of
(14:16):
Yanni's he's holding up a sign that says trade. Jannas,
if you come down line right now, you can park
wherever you want, right, Yeah, yeah, we are having a
strike right now for parking enforcement. Yeah, you park wherever
the hell you want. Don't tell him that and make
him feel important. Jannis. Only you can park wherever you
Only you can prevent parking. You can park wherever you
want to. All good. H We break down that shot
(14:39):
smoky statement, I did, I did? Only you lead game
smoky uh. Coming up next, we break down this incredible
statement from Jannis his future. More drama from tonight in
the NBA. And oh, by the way, how about an
NBA story I told you about a year ago that
came true tonight. That still suck. That's it wasn't about
(15:01):
a year, it's more than a year, eleven years. That's

Speaker 1 (16:50):
Why is it Bruno Mars Night? This is Giannis to Milwaukee.
Oh okay, all right, okay, buy out the empty seats
to Beyonce's next concert or Cowboy Hats that good? Oh
wait wait wait this album? Or in general. Really she
(17:11):
was cool back in Destiny's Child. Oh but when she
once she went solo, that was it. She was, Okay,
that's a really hard He was going full reservoir dodge
as soon as she said, Papa, don't preach. It's a
red tuned out. It's a really hot take. I don't tip.
What do you mean, I don't tip. I don't tip.
Uh So it's very uh, we got very uh now
(17:32):
kind of conversations you'd have at a breakfast table. We're
gonna get into Giannis again, and I'm gonna play that
sound bite for you because this sounds like a guy
who is gonna say I want out and he should. Uh.
But it was a year ago. I went back and said,
you know, I know I did this a year ago.
I know I said this year ago after the NCAA tournament. Right,
last year, not this year. Last year you kind of
(17:54):
win second of back to backs. What I tell you
about Steph Castle? Right, this is a guy I take
number one in the draft one hundred percent. I don't
know why he could be a better o Giano Noby.
He's a complimentary player. He can score, he can handle
the ball, he's a great defender. Stefan Castle, He's the
guy I take number one overall. I don't know why
anybody is trying to fig Andriesa se had it had
(18:15):
a pretty year. You have a good yeah, But Steph
Castle is a guy again. He can I mean he
can be a superstar. And what happened today who is
your NBA Rookie of the Year Castle? Now the Spurs
have back to back Rookie of the years and Wemby
and Steph Castle. And I'll tell I said April nineteenth
of last year, Steph Castle's a guy I want. And
(18:36):
then and then right before the draft in June where
I said he's a guy I take number one overall.
You can find it out there. I told you he
is that good. Makes you believe I could be an
NBA G one hundred percent. Look at that. You can
take that victory left ninety two of one hundred first
place votes for Castle, and there's Resa che finishing a
distant what two hundred and thirty seven points thirty seven
(18:58):
you rooints behind? Uh? The other un note a longtime
friend of the show, Alex Caravan tow about that we
still have that nil time that nil payoffs. Well, let's see,
I can make no money or I could make good money. Yeah. Here,
I'm not ready to travel overseas just yet. And that
gets into a into a bigger thing here because like
(19:18):
this is you know, just a little conversation before you
to be honest, is that the deadline for early entry
into the NBA draft right is here, and Caravan had
to decide. He decides to go back the fewest number
of early entries. We have seen what what is it?
Twenty years? So one hundred and six total hundred players.
(19:42):
In twenty twenty one there were three hundred and sixty three. Yeah,
look at what it's come down to already. And this
is because you tell me nils as all about a
Nil's bad. Nil is keeping players in college because they're
saying I could maybe go get drafted, maybe make money,
maybe not. Or I could come back to where I'm
a star and we can win a championship and I
(20:02):
can get two million dollars. Okay, I'm gonna do that instead,
and I'll wait. Maybe, hey, maybe I'll get drafted next year.
I'll prove my draft stock. But because guys can get
paid right now, I have to get out and get
to the pros. That's not there anymore. Man, the transferring
I get. But this is how you go right, Hey, oh,
the mid majors don't keep guys. Well, I'm sorry. I
can't fault a kid for saying, hey, I'm here at
(20:24):
this mid major and I have a chance to go
play in a power five Conference. I think everybody would
want you want your kid to advance. I say, no,
you should be able to have to stay at MCNE
stayed or stay at Ohio Northern University. No, if you
get a chance to go play at North Carolina State,
I'm doing the Cader Copland thing. You get to go
do that. But this is a big byproduct of it.
As well as that the players stay in college, you
(20:46):
can still follow them. And the NBA draft is not
glutted full of players that are never gonna make it
to the league. And I'm when you have three hundred
people declare, it's like you know that you have a
good idea. I know I'm not getting drafted, So what
are you gonna do. I'm gonna go play in Turkey, Turkey,
I'm gonna go play someplace else. It gonna wind up
in the g I'm gonna be here. It's gonna be
(21:06):
years before we make any money. So yeah, staying in
college is better for them. It's better for the college game.
We can can we follow the stars in college, doesn't
matter they don't stay with their same team. We'll follow
a star from one school to the next. It's just
like in the NBA of the NFL. When trades happen,
we follow those guys, right, So yeah, this this makes
college basketball a much better place because the players stick
(21:28):
around for longer, they get more money. They're taken care
of in college. If it doesn't work out for them
in the pros, hey, they made money in college, more
money than you and I are going to see in
quite a long time. It works out, It works out,
the game is better, it's better for the get. There's
no loser here. This is why I said what I
hear coaches complain, Oh, it's ruin us. Not well, okay,
let's see. It's better for the game, it's better for
the kids. It just makes your job more difficult. If
(21:50):
you can't do it, let somebody else do manm right.
We've seen how many coach hire somebody else and then
other coaches. We're doing this many years ago when it
was illegal, and now they have some of that competitive
advantage because they have an institutional knowledge. But all of
that to say, you know, we talked about it a
couple of weeks ago with there was a quote Don McClain,
(22:11):
you know, the all time scoring leader PAC twelve and
does work with the Big ten network now UCLA legend.
He was on with Petrosen money on our flagship AM
five to seven. Here it's talking about rotational players front
eight guys, you're talking about a half a million dollars
is the asking price for the get in. You're not
guaranteed a contract if you get drafted thirty first Okay,
(22:35):
so without that first round grade like where am I
going to school? Where can I set up for another
year and make whatever amount of money? I mean, it's
a no brainer. It's better for the college game. Whether
you don't like the administration part of it and it
doesn't feel so quote pure, I got news for you.
You should have taken your head out of the sand
(22:55):
a long time ago in terms of that sanctity of
the game. Nonsense and TJ as Don McLean would say
bye bye getting a piece of that Ni l Pie.
Drive your Chevy to the Levy because it'll be a
free car. DJ. I mean you like that one? You
(23:16):
like that one? Right? It was pretty good as I favor.
I wanted to see how you were gonna tie the
lines together, but you did it quite nicely. Definitely till
there you go, steph Kay, I told you I could
be an NBA I could also be an NBA head
coach because I would put my best player in the game.
In the final two, I'd call a time out to
get Jalen Brunson back in the game. Are the Knicks
gonna put their job opening on LinkedIn or anything? Or
(23:39):
you can submit? Do you want to get your resume in? There?
No strong internal candidate. We are gonna look, hey, man,
we're gonna leave no stone on turn here. It's not
gonna Tanny Hurley. It's not gonna Now let's get in
to be honest because this is now become Listen this and
the Knicks and maybe Tims is coaching yanis next year.
(24:01):
You're just done helping man. You have the honest controversy
surrounding Tire's Halliburton's dad, who trolled him following the game,
running on the court and showing it jersey towel to him,
wanting to troll him. After Halliburton's layup beats the Bucks tonight,
and Yan has talked about that following the game. Really
really dirty pool by Halliburton's dad. It's kind of a
punk move, but really, now the conversation is about what
(24:24):
is next for Jannis and he told you a few
mintal Lakers. Well, sure, sure that this is the time.
Tonight is the night where he's got to understand. This
is where my time with the Bucks comes to an
end because of the way we lost tonight, blowing that
big lead in the final minute. We lost in the
first round. Again, We're not getting any closer. It's nobody's fault.
The Bucks have tried. I've tried. It was thirty twenty
(24:45):
and ten tonight. It's just not working. He needs to
ask out and you think, oh, Jannis is gonna do that,
Yannis is gonna want to stay Yannis yan is Yan
and John here's Jannis just a few moments ago, asked
about his future with the Bucks. And listen to him
pun like he is Ray guy on the answer to
this question.
Speaker 3 (25:04):
You've always kind of stated about wanting to win and
win championships and win a second championship and how important
it is to you. Do you think that you can
still win that second championship here in Milwaukee after third
straight first run exit.
Speaker 2 (25:19):
Look, I'm not I'm not. I'm not going to do this.
I'm not.
Speaker 4 (25:25):
I'm not gonna do this. I know how this is
going to do whatever I say. I know it's gonna
translate I'm not. I don't know, man, I'm I wish
I was still playing I which I was still like
competing and going back to Milwaukee out, I don't know,
O grave me.
Speaker 1 (25:40):
Here's the thing. By not saying and by giving that
evasive answer, you've given your answer okay, no, because you
would because the right again, we did this really quick
a few minutes ago. But the right answer at this
point Yannis knows he's going to get that question is
to say, my heart is here, I'm here. We're going
to figure this out in the offseason. And but that's
a question for another day, and go and that's it, right,
(26:01):
That's how you That's how you answer if if you
understanding that I don't want something to turn into something
it's not, that's how you answer, right, because you could
always at the end go hey, Giannis, you had been
demanded a trade. Yes, we've talked through things, and I
realize no one's gonna be say, oh, you lied to us.
But when you say that, right there, guys, I'm not
because anything I say, you're gonna try. No, Now you're
(26:22):
just now now you're panicking. Now, you're panicking, and you
can tell that he has done. He is done with this.
He has done with these first round exits. He has
done with trying to get better, and he sees the
sand going through the hour glass. He's on the You're
thirty years old. Now, he's on the back half of
his career. I want to win at least one more
before I go. First half of my career with the
Bucks was great. I'm always gonna be a Buck. I'll
(26:43):
retire from the NBA as a Buck. This is how
it's gonna go. But I want to win titles. And
you can't sit here and tell me that, Hey, the
Bucks know what they're doing. They're gonna make the moves
that are gonna get you back to that. He knows
they can't. He knows they've tried for the last four
years and they can't do it. He's got to get
someplace else. And I'm telling you it's the big story
(27:03):
of the offseason once we get to the finals, when
we get the big story. Sources Yannis asked Bucks for trade.
It should be the Yannis Sweepstakes, and it should be
near almost as big as Lebron sweepstakes. When he's out there.
Where's he gonna want to go? What does Lebron want
to do? Oh, he chooses the Lakers when he's out
there again. Who can trade for Giannis? Who can put
that package together? Well, we heard this is a really
(27:24):
good package, but the Bucks don't want to trade him.
Here all this package is getting a lot of run
right now because Jannis is friends with this guy. This
should be the big storyline of the off season. Where
does Jannis go? And it should be a new team
for him. This wall, Well, it's a good thing for
the NBA because you still have another month and a
half of programming and this gets to be the story
percolating in the background. Yeah, but what happens with Doc?
(27:45):
But but as each team, what happens with Douc. We
all know what happened with Doc. We know he coaches.
The next just stopped. Well, I mean they're gonna have
an opening too. But all of that to say, it's
he could have just done a really you know what,
I have one more point I want to make on
the Halliburton situation. Just taking it, I'm going back over here.
(28:09):
I don't want to answer this question. That's a good question,
But what about Halliburton's dad. Can you believe that stuff?
I'm really the more I think about it, I'm getting
upset over here. But for you, honest, what is that
a baby raccoon up there? And that every turns around
he runs off stage. Look at that. That's a oh
my god, that's a little squirrel. Look at that, by
the way, taking he's taking us back to our you know,
(28:30):
California Adventure. Adventure. The fact that they took away the
little animatronic rocket. I was a little pissed. Okay, now
he's just on a video screen instead of I mean
that bootleg. Look at raccoon that they had. Anyway, you've
been hold on to that for a while after Well,
that's well, I mean, you brought it up. Nobody knows
you brought it up. Nobody knows what you're talking. I'm saying,
(28:53):
he can pretend he sees a squirrel. Look at him,
say squirrel. You said raccoon?
Speaker 4 (28:57):
Where?
Speaker 1 (28:57):
I said baby raccoon? Yeah, said baby raccoon.
Speaker 2 (28:59):
Where?
Speaker 1 (28:59):
What is the what? And then boom, all of a sudden,
he just runs out. You see the microphone just shakes
and the table shakes. Wait where did the honest guy?
I look for the baby raccoon. Where was No? He
leaves with his suit, you know, short pants suit like
he's lebron. He trips over the table.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
That happened. Well, have you ever heard of the Ultimate
Fighting Championship?
Speaker 1 (29:28):
That's that's gonna be honest. That that is absolutely honest.
Is offseason? No, it's the curiosity, right, two years left
on the deal and then you get to a player
player option. He doesn't have the freedom to just walk.
But yeah, we've talked about it. It's the the best
and worst thing of the NBA. And you can get
where you want to go.
Speaker 4 (29:48):
Player.
Speaker 1 (29:49):
If you're not a star player, good luck. But if
you're a star and you want to make it somewhat contesting,
hey guess what. Players are okay playing that car because
they know if I do it, I'll get what I want.
If I tell you I want out and you say
we're not gonna trade you, I'll just say okay, and
I'll bad mount the organization or I'll stay away from
the team, and eventually you're gonna realize we got to
(30:11):
trade you. This is not helping anybody, okay, And then
you lose power and you lose all sorts of of
Cachet with trying to make this move. Whereas this again,
if you're the Bucks, be receptive to this and be
amicable because for both sides you have to understand you
have failed him and as as far as a team,
you've not been able to get where you are with him,
(30:31):
and it's time to move on. And you're moving on
from Giannis in the back half of his career, not
the front haff. The Oklahoma City Thunder moved on from
Kevin Durant and things look okay, and Kevin Durant won
a couple of titles. Great, but the Thunder seemed like
after eight years of all those picks and all those assets,
hey we figured things out pretty good. We're fine right now.
They still have a lot of picks and a lot
(30:51):
of assets. They might be one of the suitors for
Rannest just based on that, because they're not all their
own picks. Devin first round picks for Yannis right from
be Gone Squad. So you've got an opportunity here. Let's
go either. I draw the line, I'm not giving up
Ronnie exit out out of Fresco, ex and swollen dumb,
(31:13):
Jason Smith, Mike Harmon, poor guy gets a collateral. He
gets sideswiped on this one. Things getting a little out
of hand in Denver between the Nuggets and the Clippers.
Time not to find out what's trending right now in
the wide world of sports. But guy has been called
the Kawhi Leonard of Fox Sports radios because night to
night we don't know if he's gonna be in. It's
(31:34):
Steve Desager.
Speaker 6 (31:35):
I thought it was a nickname, the claw, because of
course in the arcade game, that's anytime.
Speaker 1 (31:41):
You walk in, Oh, that's the clock.
Speaker 6 (31:44):
By the way, it's not only getting out of well,
it's getting out of control in Denver, it has long
been out of control. In the late ballgame in LA
and the Marlins are down twelve to two against the
Dodgers in the seventh inning of the Marlins just brought
in their left.
Speaker 1 (31:56):
Fielder to pitch.
Speaker 6 (31:58):
Fortunately the batter he had to face was Max Munsey,
who grounded out and is oz for four and is
betting one eighty. I say again out loud, he's oh
for four On a night where the Dodgers have twelve
runs and thirteen hits. It's twelve to LA in the
eighth Nothing.
Speaker 1 (32:12):
Worse than going oh for four where everybody hits, but
you like, I'm not even more than five minutes.
Speaker 6 (32:17):
At this point, looks like the Dodgers will go to
twenty and ten, and it looks like the Denver Nuggets
are going up three games to two in their first
round NBA Playoff series. Two and a half minutes to go,
Nuggets at home lead the Clippers one twenty four to
one oh seven Jamal Murray with forty points earlier. Detroit
stayed alive with the win at New York one o six,
one oh three K Cunningham twenty four points. That series
(32:39):
winner will go to Boston. The Celtics eliminated Orlando in
a Game five one twenty to eighty nine. Jason Tatum
thirty five points. Tenn assists Indiana with a Game five
win to eliminate Milwaukee in overtime in a comeback one
nineteen to one eighteen. Giannis Antanacumpo a triple double in
the loss. The Pacers were down seven with thirty five
(33:00):
seconds left in overtime and still won at Indiana at
Cleveland next with Game one against the Cavs on Sunday.
The NBA Rookie of the Year is the Spurs Stefan Castle.
He got ninety two of the one hundred first place votes.
The Kings are finalizing a deal to keep Doug Christie
as head coach. In the NHL playoffs, Carolina in double
overtime eliminated New Jersey with a game five victory, five
(33:23):
to four. Hurricanes had trailed three to nothing after the
first period. Ottawa was leading one nothing in the third
at Toronto and beat the Leafs four nothing to stay
alive at Vegas going overtime, Minnesota tied two to two
against the Golden Knights. Edmonton is two to one lead
at LA Now with seven minutes to go. Vancouver coach
Rick Tocket stepped down the forty nine ers gave tight
(33:44):
end George Kittle a four year extension. The Mets won again,
up eight nothing in the fourth. They beat Arizona eight three,
winning pitcher David Peterson five innings, one run allowed. We
can update last night's stats. They're moving up the list
all time most concentscutive games where your starter allows four
runs or less to start a season. It's all thirty
(34:05):
games for the Mets so far. The record is forty
one straight with your starters to begin a campaign that
was the Yankees three years ago.
Speaker 1 (34:13):
Speaking of lists, where do the Mets rank on the
list of teams with the best record in baseball to
miss the playoffs? Where do they rank right now? Best record?
Speaker 6 (34:20):
That would be one game ahead of the Dodger.
Speaker 1 (34:23):
But that's still ranking. It's if the season ended today.
It doesn't, but if it did, doesn't. But if it did,
if something it does. But if it did, but it doesn't,
you don't know, it might it might end. They might
decide how best record exactly best good Lord.
Speaker 6 (34:40):
San Francisco lost at San Diego by the way, seven
to four. Padres So the Pods record eighteen and eleven,
Giants nineteen and eleven. Texas won fifteen to two over
the A's. Yankees won fifteen to three at Baltimore. Back
to you, thank you, Steve though Jason Smith, Mike Harmon.
Coming up next, we get back into a big story
out of the NBA tonight. There is a game that
(35:01):
I saw the final of this coming from twenty five
thousand miles away, a completely on brand and disappointing and horrendous.
Speaker 1 (35:11):
Loss by who try to guess that's next? Jason and
Mike Fox Sports radio.
Speaker 5 (35:19):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 1 (35:27):
The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon Where the Eighties
Live Forever. Damn right they do get in wild. I'll
tell you there's fewer songs to sing along to in
the radio and the pet Shop Boys because you could
do that foreign nasally. At least I feel like I
do it pretty well. Yeah, west End girls, Westen girls,
(35:52):
Like I thought i'd do it pretty well. It's I
bet it's not your worst. So yeah, you do a
lot than that. So the Knicks lose tonight to the Pistons, well,
yeah they do. The Tom Thibodeau is likely going to
be fired if the Knicks lose the series in about
a half hour. But this is a game, and and
(36:13):
and this is part of what goes along with home
court advantage in the playoffs and how when you think
a team has it, they really don't. Because the Knicks
are a team that Madison Square Garden Game five a
closeout game. It should be a FATA complete that the
Knicks win this game, right, that the biggest arena in
(36:34):
the world, it's loud, it's rocking, and instead teams come
in there and they think we can win. The Pistons
have beaten the Knicks now five times this year, right
then now, they won two games at MSG in this series.
They have they have they come into this and go, yeah,
there's no we we have no fear of this. We
can come in and win because obviously they don't fear.
(36:56):
They don't have that in your head. And also it
is on brand for the Knicks here they are with
a closeout game to come up flat with their worst
effort in the playoff series so far tonight. Brunson is terrible,
Karl Anthony Towns is terrible. The support players carried them
played pretty well. Tibbs completely let them down with his
coaching move at the end. But this is a game
(37:16):
where you should be walking out of here and it
should be a fifteen point victory and the Pistons should
be packing stuff up at halftime already we're done. But instead, no, no, no,
we're pissed off over the foul call that didn't we
didn't get the end of last game. The Knicks come
out and they played terribly off the jump. They can't score.
I think the score is eleven to two with about
a minute left in the first quarter. The Knicks just
(37:38):
find a way to come out flat and not use
their home court as the advantage as it should be.
And it just drives me crazy that this is how
the Knicks, and the Knicks have been this way. They've
lost big games at home, so many big games at
home over the course of the last few playoffs. It happens.
How do you do it? How do you not win?
How do you not close out? But I, like I said,
I saw this coming from twenty thousand miles away, because
(38:00):
I knew they're up three to one. They're gonna come
in and think, well, the Pistons are just gonna give up,
We're gonna steamroll. We're just gonna roll our guys out
there and play at three quarter speed and we're gonna win.
And instead it's a nip tuck game all the way in.
Now you got to go back and play Game six
in Detroit, which likely means you're gonna come back to
New York for Game seven, and good luck and good luck.
They're like, I saw this coming up, that's what you
(38:21):
told you said last night, And I said, I don't
feel great about this. How do you not it's a
game at all. I don't feel great. I've seen this
movie a lot. I've seen the Knicks show up like
this at home so many times, so many times. Well,
but the other part to it is it's the best
and worst scenario to have Madison Square Garden as your
home core because it is so celebrated, so historic and
(38:41):
everything else, concerts and political conventions, rally, I mean, they've
done everything in obviously a lot of sporting events mixed
they're in and going back to you know, titles once
upon a time. But it's also the place where every
opponent gets jacked up to come and play. And we
jacked up about it. You just went Mike northon I'm
jacked up to be going to Madison Square Garden. I'm
(39:03):
gonna get a picture with him next week. I hate
I'm gonna send it back. I hate Jake Coler and
I'm jacked up about it. We just argue about Jay
Cutler quite a bit on our Sunday morning show, Mike
North and I all that time ago. We'll reminisce another time.
But it's just that idea that how many opponents talk
about how much they love playing at Madison Square Garden.
(39:24):
We'll talk about it with Lebron and everybody else. So
with the Pacers, when you have this familiarity, right because
you play all these times and you've played for high
stakes in this arena. As an organization, and certainly even
this iteration of this this squad, a lot of the
principles are there multiple years that it's just another game
(39:46):
and you're but you're jacked up and you're gonna meet
whatever about it. But you're gonna meet whatever. The Knicks
are able to bring the bear and when Brunton and
Kat have the games, they do what they go nine
of thirty. I mean Brunson couldn't even get on the
floor at the end. Now, come on, if you had
a pie chart of what of this, of this situation,
(40:06):
thirty percent of it would be teams jacked up about
coming to the Madison Square Garden. They don't, they don't fear.
The seventy five sis seventy percent of it is the
I knew the Knicks would come out flat, that the
Knicks have so many games like this with so hey,
let's go close us out right Celtics. That's how you
close out right Oklahoma. City. How you close out uh, Cleveland,
(40:27):
Absolutely it helps the other team quits, but absolutely how
the big teams close out and stead No, we come
home and we let it slip through our fingers because yeah,
we played terribly and we kind of played like, uh,
we we have we have some some room, some whiggle
room here to play badly in this game. Really, I
saw it coming twenty thousand miles away. Yeah, I mean
(40:47):
you run all the way through and in the end
it's TIBs. Oh man, I'll tell you. We'll get to
the TIBs situation coming up in a half hours of
this situation. You talk about a guy that has clinched
the fact he'd be fired if the Knicks lose the series.
What he did at the end of the game tonight, Yeah,
that's happening. But coming up next we get into the
craziest
