that much. I'm looking at him, and what's going through
my mind, Like if I could read his mind, it's
I gotta get out of this place, man, I gotta
get out of this. We just blew a seven board.
We lost in the first round again. Right, this is
this is a This is a exclamation point on. Yannis
needs to demand a trade and do it nicely, right,

do it very amicably. He's been that the Bucks organization
has done everything they could to try to make it
a winning situation. This is not this is not anything
that is that is awful. This is just his time
with the Bucks. He's thirty years old, probably has about
four or five more peak years left. He's a bigger player.
He's gonna break down a little bit earlier. He plays low,

so he doesn't have as many peak years left as
you think. He's got about four five years and it's
not working in Milwaukee. Four years in a row in
the first round. It's not getting better. They've made the
moves they've needed to. I'm not saying they've done things.
They know they went out and got Damian Lowan, and

got Damian, I said, this is exactly who what they need.

goes to Golden State and he wins a couple. Shaq
wins four. He's got to have that legacy moment. Now.
The good news is he's got one, and he won
with a fifty point game in the deciding game, which
it's a legendary all time game. But the rest of
his career, like dude, you want to pile up championships,
He's got to go and it's got to be a
situation where it's amicable, right, I said, I don't want it.

I don't want it to be better, and I want
Yani to say you're gonna trade me. If the Bucks
say we're not, oh, I can make it bad because
you know, star players always get what they want in
the NBA, they always get what they want. You don't
want to have them to hold their breath and not
look at you, but that's exactly what players do. Hopefully
this is something where both sides understand, all right, you
want to move on, let us get whatever we can

for you, because we can get a lot because he's
locked in for another couple of years in his contract.
You know what you're paying. It's not like you don't
know what the payday is gonna be. And you should
have the big Yannis sweepstakes in the offseason, and they're
gonna be teams that gonna come at you and say
we'll give you X, Y and Z. You will have
a big haul for Yannis. Trust me, you will get it.
And if I'm y honest, I can't waste any more time.

And I wait the appropriate amount, and I approach the
Bucks and I say I need to go someplace else.
I no longer have confidence that we're gonna be able
to build a championship team. I spent great years here,
but I want to move on and let's make it.
Let's find a way to make it happen, and hopefully
the Bucks realize. Okay, it's gonna end if he wants out.
It's gonna end with him going out. Anyway, let's make

the move. But Giannis, I went from twenty four hours
agoing yeah, I don't know to now, Yes, absolutely he
should ask out and it should be the big story
of the offseason. Where does Jannison? Who's John Horst's their

look at a guy who's been very durable during his career.
He's played at least sixty games in every season in
the last couple of years. Yeah, he's missed some time,
but we've come to expect that with the rigors of
a season, and it's just become more accepted. And he

is getting older. It's year twelve in the league, because
that's that's a large thing. You say, I say thirty
years old, Think, yeah, that's twelve years in a league.
And we've normalized, you know, length of careers. And for
a guy that plays the style he has, he hasn't
fully become a jump shooter, although he's more confident than

he used to be in that regard, but it's still
playing a lot of body bruising kind of possessions. And
when you get towards the playoffs. Now, to his benefit,
I guess he's had a couple of early exits, so
he didn't play that extra month and a half of basketball.
See what I did there, I got the dig at
the Bucks while still praising Giannis there and saying that

he's got some left in the tank because he didn't
play an extra twenty games these last couple of years.
But you're at fifty four fifty six million estimated per season, which, again,
given the numbers in the NBA, that's not an insurmountable
feat to match up salaries and make something work and
begin the rebuild process. You know, you mentioned all the

guys that left and went on their ways. I mean,
Shack's the one that I always love, is the the
vagabond years of Shack because you go and put together
a run of his trading cards. There are a few
guys because most of the guys that bounce around like that,
the sets aren't big enough that they make cards of

just doesn't look right in that uniformity. But for you, honest,

million dollar question, plus whatever an extension would be, is
does he want to be the one team guy? Right?
Do you go back to the humble origins, the kid
from Greece and everything else? Family? And yeah, the answer
is yes, he's going to be an incredible fit with Luca.

I'll prove my draft stock. But because guys can get
paid right now, I have to get out and get
to the pros. That's not there anymore. Man, the transferring

the mid majors don't keep guys. Well, I'm sorry. I
can't fault a kid for saying, hey, I'm here at

this mid major and I have a chance to go
play in a power five Conference. I think everybody would
want you want your kid to advance. I say, no,
you should be able to have to stay at MCNE
stayed or stay at Ohio Northern University. No, if you
get a chance to go play at North Carolina State,

do that. But this is a big byproduct of it.
As well as that the players stay in college, you

can still follow them. And the NBA draft is not
glutted full of players that are never gonna make it
to the league. And I'm when you have three hundred
people declare, it's like you know that you have a
good idea. I know I'm not getting drafted, So what
are you gonna do. I'm gonna go play in Turkey, Turkey,
I'm gonna go play someplace else. It gonna wind up
in the g I'm gonna be here. It's gonna be

years before we make any money. So yeah, staying in
college is better for them. It's better for the college game.
We can can we follow the stars in college, doesn't
matter they don't stay with their same team. We'll follow
a star from one school to the next. It's just
like in the NBA of the NFL. When trades happen,
we follow those guys, right, So yeah, this this makes
college basketball a much better place because the players stick

around for longer, they get more money. They're taken care
of in college. If it doesn't work out for them
in the pros, hey, they made money in college, more
money than you and I are going to see in
quite a long time. It works out, It works out,
the game is better, it's better for the get. There's
no loser here. This is why I said what I
hear coaches complain, Oh, it's ruin us. Not well, okay,
let's see. It's better for the game, it's better for
the kids. It just makes your job more difficult. If

you can't do it, let somebody else do manm right.
We've seen how many coach hire somebody else and then
other coaches. We're doing this many years ago when it
was illegal, and now they have some of that competitive
advantage because they have an institutional knowledge. But all of
that to say, you know, we talked about it a
couple of weeks ago with there was a quote Don McClain,

you know, the all time scoring leader PAC twelve and
does work with the Big ten network now UCLA legend.

going to school? Where can I set up for another
year and make whatever amount of money? I mean, it's
a no brainer. It's better for the college game. Whether
you don't like the administration part of it and it
doesn't feel so quote pure, I got news for you.
You should have taken your head out of the sand

a long time ago in terms of that sanctity of

It should be the Yannis Sweepstakes, and it should be
near almost as big as Lebron sweepstakes. When he's out there.
Where's he gonna want to go? What does Lebron want
to do? Oh, he chooses the Lakers when he's out
there again. Who can trade for Giannis? Who can put
that package together? Well, we heard this is a really

good package, but the Bucks don't want to trade him.
Here all this package is getting a lot of run
right now because Jannis is friends with this guy. This
should be the big storyline of the off season. Where
does Jannis go? And it should be a new team
for him. This wall, Well, it's a good thing for
the NBA because you still have another month and a
half of programming and this gets to be the story
percolating in the background. Yeah, but what happens with Doc?

But but as each team, what happens with Douc. We
all know what happened with Doc. We know he coaches.

in there and they think we can win. The Pistons
have beaten the Knicks now five times this year, right

there's no we we have no fear of this. We
can come in and win because obviously they don't fear.

They don't have that in your head. And also it
is on brand for the Knicks here they are with
a closeout game to come up flat with their worst
effort in the playoff series so far tonight. Brunson is terrible,
Karl Anthony Towns is terrible. The support players carried them
played pretty well. Tibbs completely let them down with his
coaching move at the end. But this is a game

where you should be walking out of here and it
should be a fifteen point victory and the Pistons should
be packing stuff up at halftime already we're done. But instead, no, no, no,
we're pissed off over the foul call that didn't we
didn't get the end of last game. The Knicks come
out and they played terribly off the jump. They can't score.
I think the score is eleven to two with about
a minute left in the first quarter. The Knicks just

find a way to come out flat and not use
their home court as the advantage as it should be.
And it just drives me crazy that this is how
the Knicks, and the Knicks have been this way. They've
lost big games at home, so many big games at
home over the course of the last few playoffs. It happens.
How do you do it? How do you not win?
How do you not close out? But I, like I said,
I saw this coming from twenty thousand miles away, because

I knew they're up three to one. They're gonna come
in and think, well, the Pistons are just gonna give up,
We're gonna steamroll. We're just gonna roll our guys out
there and play at three quarter speed and we're gonna win.
And instead it's a nip tuck game all the way in.
Now you got to go back and play Game six
in Detroit, which likely means you're gonna come back to
New York for Game seven, and good luck and good luck.
They're like, I saw this coming up, that's what you

told you said last night, And I said, I don't
feel great about this. How do you not it's a
game at all. I don't feel great. I've seen this
movie a lot. I've seen the Knicks show up like
this at home so many times, so many times. Well,
but the other part to it is it's the best
and worst scenario to have Madison Square Garden as your
home core because it is so celebrated, so historic and

everything else, concerts and political conventions, rally, I mean, they've
done everything in obviously a lot of sporting events mixed
they're in and going back to you know, titles once
upon a time. But it's also the place where every
opponent gets jacked up to come and play. And we
jacked up about it. You just went Mike northon I'm
jacked up to be going to Madison Square Garden. I'm

gonna get a picture with him next week. I hate
I'm gonna send it back. I hate Jake Coler and
I'm jacked up about it. We just argue about Jay
Cutler quite a bit on our Sunday morning show, Mike
North and I all that time ago. We'll reminisce another time.
But it's just that idea that how many opponents talk
about how much they love playing at Madison Square Garden.

We'll talk about it with Lebron and everybody else. So
with the Pacers, when you have this familiarity, right because
you play all these times and you've played for high
stakes in this arena. As an organization, and certainly even
this iteration of this this squad, a lot of the
principles are there multiple years that it's just another game

and you're but you're jacked up and you're gonna meet
whatever about it. But you're gonna meet whatever. The Knicks
are able to bring the bear and when Brunton and
Kat have the games, they do what they go nine
of thirty. I mean Brunson couldn't even get on the
floor at the end. Now, come on, if you had
a pie chart of what of this, of this situation,

thirty percent of it would be teams jacked up about
coming to the Madison Square Garden. They don't, they don't fear.

They did everything, But losing this game is one of
those moments where you say, boy, if I was kind
of teetering either way on do I ask for a
trade or do I stay? This is the game in
this end convinces me we are no closer to a
championship than we were four years ago. Since it was

it make you start thinking about Reggie Miller at all?
You having flashbacks when you start voicing those kind of numbers.
But I mean Yannis for the end of game, right,

him down and starts screaming at him, losing his mind.
Jannis has just kind of take it in the moment,
realize the season's done right, like it was just that
the gravity of that moment, followed by the ten seconds
later when the old man runs out with the towels,
like I can only imagine what's going through his mind

that much. I'm looking at him, and what's going through
my mind, Like if I could read his mind, it's
I gotta get out of this place, man, I gotta
get out of this. We just blew a seven board.
We lost in the first round again. Right, this is
this is a This is a exclamation point on. Yannis
needs to demand a trade and do it nicely, right,

do it very amicably. He's been that the Bucks organization
has done everything they could to try to make it
a winning situation. This is not this is not anything
that is that is awful. This is just his time
with the Bucks. He's thirty years old, probably has about
four or five more peak years left. He's a bigger player.
He's gonna break down a little bit earlier. He plays low,

so he doesn't have as many peak years left as
you think. He's got about four five years and it's
not working in Milwaukee. Four years in a row in
the first round. It's not getting better. They've made the
moves they've needed to. I'm not saying they've done things.
They know they went out and got Damian Lowan, and
I thought they were gonna run the East When they
got Damian, I said, this is exactly who what they need.

You talk about an inside out game with him and Lillard,
This is what they need. And still Lillard is hurt.
It doesn't work out. Last year they lose in the
first round. Again. He can't sit around. He's got to
start thinking what do I want my legacy to be?

got to that point. New, I gotta get out of Orlando.
I gotta get someplace else to win a championship, Kad New,

I got to get out of Oklahoma City. I gotta
go someplace where I can win a championship. And he
goes to Golden State and he wins a couple. Shaq
wins four. He's got to have that legacy moment. Now.
The good news is he's got one, and he won
with a fifty point game in the deciding game, which
it's a legendary all time game. But the rest of
his career, like dude, you want to pile up championships,
He's got to go and it's got to be a
situation where it's amicable, right, I said, I don't want it.

I don't want it to be better, and I want
Yani to say you're gonna trade me. If the Bucks
say we're not, oh, I can make it bad because
you know, star players always get what they want in
the NBA, they always get what they want. You don't
want to have them to hold their breath and not
look at you, but that's exactly what players do. Hopefully
this is something where both sides understand, all right, you
want to move on, let us get whatever we can

for you, because we can get a lot because he's
locked in for another couple of years in his contract.
You know what you're paying. It's not like you don't
know what the payday is gonna be. And you should
have the big Yannis sweepstakes in the offseason, and they're
gonna be teams that gonna come at you and say
we'll give you X, Y and Z. You will have
a big haul for Yannis. Trust me, you will get it.
And if I'm y honest, I can't waste any more time.

And I wait the appropriate amount, and I approach the
Bucks and I say I need to go someplace else.
I no longer have confidence that we're gonna be able
to build a championship team. I spent great years here,
but I want to move on and let's make it.
Let's find a way to make it happen, and hopefully
the Bucks realize. Okay, it's gonna end if he wants out.
It's gonna end with him going out. Anyway, let's make

the move. But Giannis, I went from twenty four hours

should ask out and it should be the big story

Straight up? Janni's for Austin Reeves. Boy, I'll tell you
at least the Bucks get a sharpshooter, but the Lakers
get Yannis. Now Jannis has two years remaining out his

deal and then the third years of player option. You
look at a guy who's been very durable during his career.
He's played at least sixty games in every season in
the last couple of years. Yeah, he's missed some time,
but we've come to expect that with the rigors of
a season, and it's just become more accepted. And he

is getting older. It's year twelve in the league, because
that's that's a large thing. You say, I say thirty
years old, Think, yeah, that's twelve years in a league.
And we've normalized, you know, length of careers. And for
a guy that plays the style he has, he hasn't
fully become a jump shooter, although he's more confident than

I'm gonna go play someplace else. It gonna wind up

years before we make any money. So yeah, staying in
college is better for them. It's better for the college game.
We can can we follow the stars in college, doesn't
matter they don't stay with their same team. We'll follow
a star from one school to the next. It's just
like in the NBA of the NFL. When trades happen,
we follow those guys, right, So yeah, this this makes
college basketball a much better place because the players stick

around for longer, they get more money. They're taken care
of in college. If it doesn't work out for them
in the pros, hey, they made money in college, more
money than you and I are going to see in
quite a long time. It works out, It works out,
the game is better, it's better for the get. There's
no loser here. This is why I said what I
hear coaches complain, Oh, it's ruin us. Not well, okay,
let's see. It's better for the game, it's better for
the kids. It just makes your job more difficult. If

We've seen how many coach hire somebody else and then
other coaches. We're doing this many years ago when it
was illegal, and now they have some of that competitive
advantage because they have an institutional knowledge. But all of
that to say, you know, we talked about it a

closeout game. It should be a FATA complete that the
Knicks win this game, right, that the biggest arena in

the world, it's loud, it's rocking, and instead teams come
in there and they think we can win. The Pistons
have beaten the Knicks now five times this year, right
then now, they won two games at MSG in this series.
They have they have they come into this and go, yeah,
there's no we we have no fear of this. We
can come in and win because obviously they don't fear.
(36:56):
They don't have that in your head. And also it
is on brand for the Knicks here they are with
a closeout game to come up flat with their worst
effort in the playoff series so far tonight. Brunson is terrible,
Karl Anthony Towns is terrible. The support players carried them
played pretty well. Tibbs completely let them down with his
coaching move at the end. But this is a game
(37:16):
where you should be walking out of here and it
should be a fifteen point victory and the Pistons should
be packing stuff up at halftime already we're done. But instead, no, no, no,
we're pissed off over the foul call that didn't we
didn't get the end of last game. The Knicks come
out and they played terribly off the jump. They can't score.
I think the score is eleven to two with about
a minute left in the first quarter. The Knicks just
(37:38):
find a way to come out flat and not use
their home court as the advantage as it should be.
And it just drives me crazy that this is how
the Knicks, and the Knicks have been this way. They've
lost big games at home, so many big games at
home over the course of the last few playoffs. It happens.
How do you do it? How do you not win?
How do you not close out? But I, like I said,
I saw this coming from twenty thousand miles away, because
(38:00):
I knew they're up three to one. They're gonna come
in and think, well, the Pistons are just gonna give up,
We're gonna steamroll. We're just gonna roll our guys out
there and play at three quarter speed and we're gonna win.
And instead it's a nip tuck game all the way in.
Now you got to go back and play Game six
in Detroit, which likely means you're gonna come back to
New York for Game seven, and good luck and good luck.
They're like, I saw this coming up, that's what you
(38:21):
told you said last night, And I said, I don't
feel great about this. How do you not it's a
game at all. I don't feel great. I've seen this
movie a lot. I've seen the Knicks show up like
this at home so many times, so many times. Well,
but the other part to it is it's the best
and worst scenario to have Madison Square Garden as your
home core because it is so celebrated, so historic and
(38:41):
everything else, concerts and political conventions, rally, I mean, they've
done everything in obviously a lot of sporting events mixed
they're in and going back to you know, titles once
upon a time. But it's also the place where every
opponent gets jacked up to come and play. And we
jacked up about it. You just went Mike northon I'm
jacked up to be going to Madison Square Garden. I'm
(39:03):
gonna get a picture with him next week. I hate
I'm gonna send it back. I hate Jake Coler and
I'm jacked up about it. We just argue about Jay
Cutler quite a bit on our Sunday morning show, Mike
North and I all that time ago. We'll reminisce another time.
But it's just that idea that how many opponents talk
about how much they love playing at Madison Square Garden.
(39:24):
We'll talk about it with Lebron and everybody else. So
with the Pacers, when you have this familiarity, right because
you play all these times and you've played for high
stakes in this arena. As an organization, and certainly even
this iteration of this this squad, a lot of the
principles are there multiple years that it's just another game
(39:46):
and you're but you're jacked up and you're gonna meet
whatever about it. But you're gonna meet whatever. The Knicks
are able to bring the bear and when Brunton and
Kat have the games, they do what they go nine
of thirty. I mean Brunson couldn't even get on the
floor at the end. Now, come on, if you had
a pie chart of what of this, of this situation,
(40:06):
thirty percent of it would be teams jacked up about
coming to the Madison Square Garden. They don't, they don't fear.
The seventy five sis seventy percent of it is the
I knew the Knicks would come out flat, that the
Knicks have so many games like this with so hey,
let's go close us out right Celtics. That's how you
close out right Oklahoma. City. How you close out uh, Cleveland,

Absolutely it helps the other team quits, but absolutely how
the big teams close out and stead No, we come
home and we let it slip through our fingers because yeah,
we played terribly and we kind of played like, uh,
we we have we have some some room, some whiggle
room here to play badly in this game. Really, I
saw it coming twenty thousand miles away. Yeah, I mean
(40:47):
you run all the way through and in the end
it's TIBs. Oh man, I'll tell you. We'll get to
the TIBs situation coming up in a half hours of
this situation. You talk about a guy that has clinched
the fact he'd be fired if the Knicks lose the series.
