You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Hello, Welcome inside final hour tonight the Jason Smith Show
with my best friend Mike Harmon.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
Let's get those fours up. Come on.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
A huge night in the NBA playoffs, the Knicks win
by three over the Celtics in a game that looked
like the Celt's gonna take over and overtime, but they
forgot one thing. They just forgot one thing.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
What was that one thing? Got to hit shots? Yeah,
that'll do it.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
I'll do it.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
You know.

Speaker 3 (00:55):
I always talk to my my younger daughter at some
point during the show, check in, after practice, whatever else.
And the first question she asked all the time is, Hey,
how's Jason tonight? And the second question is always any
good stories tonight, And I'm like, well, it's funny you
should ask today because in the NBA. She goes, well, playoffs, right,

(01:16):
and you were saying the Knicks we're gonna be playing
early and you were wondering what that was gonna mean.
I'm like, yeah, she goes that. Good or bad depends
on your perspective.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
Go New York, Go New York, Go go New York,
Go New York, Go New York, go to Look, we'll
have more on this game coming up in a few minutes.
Uh oh sure, come on, man, I could watch mckel
bridges ripping the ball out of Jalen Brown's.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
We already closed the post show. That looked like that
looked like in you even read the sponsors off downs.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
You read the sponsors. You can't open it back up.
That game forgot some sponsors. Uh well, let me finish
right here. If you know what it looked like the
final play. It looked like when you go to when
you go to black Friday shop. Oh no, and there's
not people are fighting over the stuff in the in
the and people are ripping. I want this, I'm gon
rip it out of your arms. That's what it looked

(02:08):
like with mckel bridges ripping the ball out of Jalen
Brown's arms.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
See I'll take you into twenty twenty five because most
people do their Black Friday shopping online.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
Now this is all about Cyber Monday. This is the
I'm fighting you.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
Yeah for the Pokemon and sports cards restock.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
There's only one.

Speaker 3 (02:26):
There's only one.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
There's only one little case.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
So there's fifteen of us.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
Let's go there is Okay. I'll tell you this quick story,
real fast where I get into the nuggets. Uh So
this is back when Frozen comes out, right, and Frozen's
this huge unexpected hit. And when Frozen came out, like
Disney only put out so many toys from it because
they didn't know it was going to be the thing.
But becomes this big runaway hit, and I remember after
the initial push, it was really it took a really

(02:53):
long time to get the next set of things out, so.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
It's really made. That's crazy.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
So we go to Disneyland and it's my daughter at
this time with Frozen twenty so she's she's six, she's
six years old, and she's all she would tell me six.
She go to bed at night, Go Dad, I wish
Elsa was real. I said, oh me too, I wish
Elsa was real.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
Then you started naming off people that you dated and said, yeah,
she's real.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
You know who I wish was real. So we go
to Disneyland and they had just come out with the
Elsa Castle, right, it was brand new, they just came out.
I'm like, oh my goodness, what are the odds we're
gonna get one there? So we go.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
You couldn't let it go?

Speaker 1 (03:32):
And no, I couldn't. I had I had to h
I'm one with the wind and sky. So I go
there and they did. They hardly have any frozen stuff.
I'm like, oh man, but it was late at night
and it's like ten o'clock at night, eleven o'clock and
in the big Disney store in downtown Disney, and someone
picked up and I just missed getting The last one
was the Elsa Uh was the Elsa House ice house, right,

(03:57):
So I'm like, oh man. And this guy picks it up,
and I cas like he got there like I don't know,
maybe ten seconds before me.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
And he picks up. He's looking at.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
It and I can see him hold it up to
his to his wife like across the way, and she
looks at it and he goes walking over it, and
I go, I'm gonna follow him because if she says no,
I'm gonna take I'm gonna take this anybody.

Speaker 3 (04:16):
But he's gonna set it down on whatever shelf is there.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
So I follow the guy, right, I follow the guy.
He goes over and I'm like three feet behind him.
He goes, hey, this else the thing, and his wife says, yeah,
but we're getting her this doll. We're getting this. She
really wants the doll, like, yeah, doll, doll, doll, doll.
She really wants a doll. But he goes, but this
is the last one, and I, you know, I don't
know which. And she goes, well, and I'll never forget

(04:40):
this because the woman says, well, just leave it and
we can go back and get it if if we
want it in a little bit, and he goes, I don't.
I don't think it'll be there, and she goes, just
put it. It's ten, it's late at night. It just
let's just go okay, And the guy puts it down.
And he puts it down, and I go, how long
can I wait before I pick this up?

Speaker 2 (04:58):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (04:58):
No, Immediately he puts it down. I let him. I
let him take his hand, and he takes and they
take a step away to walk away, and I pick
it up, and I got it, and I hear and
I'm walking away, I hear.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
It's already gone. Just like your beer at the Super Bowl. No,
that's right, when you put that beer on that table
that was I put it right up with all those
bricks right there. Yeah, beer too.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
But I wait, I took one step. I said, if
I take more, let him take three steps, someone else
is gonna take. Oh no, it's gonna be going boom.
It's already gone. Like, yeah, it's gone. And Zoe, I
found that. I found Elsa's ice castle.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
Stock the guy I got it for you.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
I shift him and he's bleeding out in the back,
but I got the castle. You're good.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
I remember wanted to asle that those are running about
three to four times retail on. I hope he wanted
this guy, I got it for you. Because they also
didn't anticipate old Off to become a thing. No, just
like baby Groot. Like those two things are the two
of the biggest misses in merchandise. Because I keep seeing
all the oh look what George looked now smart? He
was like, well Disney and the proper whoever was trying

(06:05):
to control all of that. Really failed in their inventory
and supply chain management. There, but a big win for
you. You were the hero of the.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
D I got him. I got it. It was I
was so I was like, I wait, one step, boom,
got it gone. Like god, I was like running with that,
go and console that guy because no, no, I didn't
want to get near him.

Speaker 3 (06:23):
Because psychologically he was disturbed. The rest.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
He put it down to two steps. And already I'm
not gonna get this. I'm not gonna get it. I'm
never gonna see this again. That that guy. I bet you,
I bet you. They talk about that moment. Yeah, just
like that time with the Elsa Castle. Right, Oh, we're
gonna get it, right, We're gonna But that's the problem.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
That might have been a microcosm of a whole other
issue of brewing in that relationship.

Speaker 4 (06:43):
Now look what you did. You used to flit those
people up by taking that out there. Please call in.
You're the kid that Jason stole your toy.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
No, no, it was a full grown adult. And I
don't even know if they had a kid in the
It could have been there by it for himself that
no kid.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
Around Christmas time knowing you too. It was adult Disney.
He just had They just had a dummy in the stroller.
Make it seem like that and the kids, they're buying
us all for themselves. Maybe that's what it was.

Speaker 3 (07:07):
A dummy.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
No, I didn't say I did not say, I know
you're upset the Lakers are in the playoffs. Don't put
words in my mouth. I did not say that, say that,
did not say that you call them a dummy?

Speaker 3 (07:18):
Yeah, but yeah, what what would you say? You do here?

Speaker 1 (07:21):
So the Nuggets win tonight and we talked about the
you know, the miss chet missus two free throws, the
Nuggets rebound the ball and a phenomenal play by Russell
Westbrook to get the ball to Aaron Gordon who hits
a three, and the Nuggets now are up one zip
over the thunder. One thing that is not being said
that many many and I want to say, I don't

(07:43):
want to say everybody else but us, but everybody else
but us? What a horrible move by the by the Nuggets.
They can't you can't fire your head coach right before
the end of the season. Can't fire Michael Malone. Mike
Malone can't fire them, can't fire.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
What a horrible move. You can't do that. Look what
you're gonna do to your team? Can't do it? Can't
do it.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
What did we say that night? If a guy's gotta go,
a guy's gotta go, if a coach has to go,
don't postpone the future. What did you want the Nuggets
to do? If none of them were happy coming to work?
And clearly Michael Malone was frustrated with his players, he
would take them on and postgame press conversation. These guys
don't want to watch film, they don't want to do this.
You know what, you gotta go. There's no way you're

(08:23):
gonna put your differences aside and and make a successful show.

Speaker 3 (08:27):
Right.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
This is not This is not fiction. This is not
Hacks and Geen Smart and Hanna Einbider we hate each other,
we're gonna work together. No, it's not gonna happen. It's not.

Speaker 3 (08:36):
Well.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
Yeah, season three a little bit too much of them
hating each other. I'm really I'm kind of done with
I'm kind of done. Let's let's go back to that.
So if a guy's gotta be gone, the team is
immediately going to be better because they're not coming to
work with a cloud over their head. Things are going
to be better. They're gonna enjoy not playing for Michael Malone.

Speaker 3 (08:56):
Not that, not that.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
David Adaman's coming in and doing something incredible different. Hey,
first we're gonna build a better mouse trap. Then we're
gonna reinvent the wheel, and then no, no, Instead it's
the same kind of things they're doing.

Speaker 3 (09:07):
And you're seeing how it works.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
Because they win the first round against the Clippers, they
blow the Clippers out in game seven. Right, Jokic is
taking much more of a leadership probably I think he's
actually the head coach of the team. He seems to
be telling them all what to do on the sideline.
Yeah this this Adaman.

Speaker 3 (09:23):
Just kind of stands.

Speaker 1 (09:23):
They're like yeah, yeah, no, good yea, hey the color
remember going Yeah, tell them that too, and that too,
and that too. You can see the Nuggets are playing
with more joy, more freedom, And it's also a found
money type postseason for them, where they're not supposed to
win anymore. Whatever they do, it's a big achievement and
there's something to be said for playing that way. And
here they are up one zip in the second round.

(09:45):
They're not gonna be here for his Under Michael Malone,
they probably would have lost to the Clippers. Clippers would
have found a way to win, despite the fact they
never win in the first round and James Harden scores
you know, eleven points in Game seven, but all of
that's gone. No one's saying. In fact, people are now
falling over themselves. You know what the Nuggets did when
you fire your head coach. No, no, no, own that
you were wrong, Own that you were wrong. Oh you

(10:05):
can't do this, Yeah, of course you can. You might
not have been able to do this twenty thirty years ago,
but understand that in twenty twenty five, the sports world
and the entire world moves at a warp rate. I
would not have thought this morning, waking up, we'd be saying, hey,
Alcatraz might reopen as a prison. But this is how
the world goes right, this is how the sports world works.
You could have kept Malone and what would have happened.

(10:27):
You would have fired him in the offseason, started to
search for a new coach and been behind the eight ball.
But now, okay, maybe David Adelman is the guy, right
because clearly they're playing well for him. He can at
least be the interim guy for a year. Hey, we're
gonna have you next year and see how things go.
But the Nuggets are winning and they're playing well, and
this would not have been the case. And if you so,

(10:49):
if you need, if a head coach needs to go,
if it's three games before the regular season or three
games into the regular season, you have to make that move.
And now the Nuggets say, Pat, just break your arm.
Patna cells on the back because you were right, because
here you are right now where you wouldn't have been
had you not made that move.

Speaker 3 (11:05):
Yeah, I think it goes back with a lot of
moves that we watch, you know, where trades are made,
you know, trying to take the thirty thousand foot view
of it, right, go back to when when the Bears
made that trade in the twenty seventeen draft to go
get Trubisky. Would you agree with it? Even in the
moment you're like, well, that's that's interesting because the guy
should have been to Shaun Watson based on what you'd

(11:26):
see it. But it was more just the all right,
But if you're convicted that that's your guy, you live
and die by that decision. So I may disagree with it,
but go forward. In this case, the Krokeys had decided
Mike Michael Malone was dead man walkie right, like the
Sean Penn movie of old. He was gonna be gone.
So why wait? Why postpone the inevitable? Either it gives

(11:51):
you a shot in the arm and some juice for
a playoff run end of the season and the players
know you have their backs, or you ride it out
with him. It fails miserably, and now everybody's mistrustful of
the organization as a whole. Right, you waited for what
to do this? Right, when we talked about the Mavericks

(12:12):
trading Luka Dancis, we could say on a million levels, boy,
this makes this is stupid, right. This guy's only twenty six. Yes,
he's been in the league eight years. Yes, I know
he's played a lot of professional basketball. He's still twenty six,
all right, and there's still a lot of money to
be made. We talk about the off the court stuff.
We're talking hundreds of millions of dollars in advertising and

(12:32):
marketing dollars that you literally just blow took a blowtorch
to and you make the trade to bring in Anthony Davis.
But from a basketball perspective short term, like, all right,
it's a lot of risk, but boy, this would be
fun for him if it worked. Not instead, it all
it blew up for everybody. Lakers are out in the
first round, and everybody on the Mavericks is hurt, and
Kyrie's you know, hurt and everything else. But it's the

(12:56):
if you're gonna have the conviction to go make the
move and it's inevitable that you were going into the
postseason again. Josh Cronkey, I think stated it perfectly. He's like,
you could get blinded by some wins that were meaningless,
sleep walking through a part of the schedule against some subpar,
inferior of opponents, but seeing that you still had cracks.

(13:17):
Not only on the court. You're winning, but it's not
pretty and behind the scenes, whatever was going on with
Michael Malone and everybody else and NICOLEA. Jokicic looks like
a different guy, right, He's still putting up the stat
line and all that other stuff. But as you pointed out,
he's looking for the whiteboard, he's shouting out instruction. He's
a real head coach. They can't do enough picture and
picture with him of you know him, pointing and kind

(13:39):
of drawing things out in the air. It's it's a
thing of beauty to watch him get that exasperated, and
not because he thinks he should be getting another call
on the court.

Speaker 1 (13:49):
Guys, you know me. I'm David Adaman. I'm your new
head coach. I'm sorry, yes, Nicole, I am the head
coach now. Oh oh okay, well all right, well, okay, okay,
there's a throwback. H I'm the head coach now. Exit
out bout a Fresca exit Swalling' home coming. Up next,
more on the redemption of one former NBA superstar who

(14:10):
was on a middle Finger tour.

Speaker 3 (14:12):
Yeah League, Plus.

Speaker 1 (14:14):
A big story out of the NFL from today, a
story that seemed to be a long time coming but
we finally got. That's next, Jason to Mike Fox.

Speaker 2 (14:25):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven

Speaker 1 (15:03):
Yeah, the Mets gala.

Speaker 3 (15:04):
Yeah, it's the Mets. It's now.

Speaker 1 (15:05):
The Mets Gala has nothing to do with it. I
can call the Mets the Nets. One tonight, the Mets
one tonight. Not one met was there. Uh, Spike Lee
was there.

Speaker 3 (15:12):
It barely beat the d bat does I was gonna
bring that up because that's a big problem. Yeah, why
super fan doesn't go to Game one? Yeah, but it's Boston.
To make it up. Though, he did wear a Knick's hat.

Speaker 1 (15:22):
He did.

Speaker 4 (15:22):
He did wear a Knicks he and he was right
for most of the game. They were down twenty, so
he made the right choice for most of it.

Speaker 3 (15:28):
All right. I'd love to see him huddled in a
corner with folks says that game got close though. Yeah,
he's looking.

Speaker 1 (15:32):
He's everybody like is on red carpets and you know,
watching on their phone and.

Speaker 3 (15:36):
All of a sudden there guys sitting there. How big
is your screen? Like that was?

Speaker 1 (15:40):
That was always the guy at weddings that if you
got married on a Saturday or a Sunday. Yeah, that's great,
But I'm gonna go in the bar and watch the end.
And then then then you look around and goes, oh,
because a couple of people there and that there's like
twelve people watching the end of the game.

Speaker 3 (15:52):
Nobody's in with the way. Why is everybody not pantsing
at my wedding? Oh? Oh, what's going on? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (15:56):
Two out two on bottom of the night. All right,
So Mary Mack, you of our big met Gala report

Speaker 3 (16:06):
I do, I do? I do?

Speaker 5 (16:06):
Hello everybody, So we're talking about the met Gala.

Speaker 3 (16:09):
It was today.

Speaker 5 (16:11):
The theme of the event is super fine tailoring, Black style,
So therefore a lot of nineteen twenties, a lot of
old black culture whatever. Okay, we had uh, Lewis Hamilton.
He showed up in a very very nice hat and
he showed up with a super clean suit. I think
he was probably one of the best dressed athletes personally.

Speaker 3 (16:28):
Was Hamilton was the best? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (16:31):
So Vanna James went, uh no, lebron of course injury?

Speaker 1 (16:35):
Yeah, do you haven't do you have an injury list
for the men. You have a met Gala injury report
for us.

Speaker 3 (16:40):
Yes, uh, she or he did not go.

Speaker 5 (16:43):
Also as well the brothers. Okay, you know Taylor and
I'm not forgetting their name right now, Travis, Travis didn't go,
Travis did goes wait, Travis Kelcey and Taylor Swift did
not go.

Speaker 3 (16:55):
To the WHOA neither of them went. Well.

Speaker 4 (17:00):
He had prior engagements to cry about winning not winning
the super Bowl. So okay, that's good.

Speaker 1 (17:07):
We're still about thirty to It's the super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (17:09):
This is not how it goes for Rest in the
Super Bowl. Jaylor what oh okay, like a po boy? Okay,
all right?

Speaker 1 (17:15):
That was his outfit?

Speaker 4 (17:16):
Good.

Speaker 5 (17:16):
Yeah, but it was just like, you know, nothing too crazy,
like he just kind of looks like, you know, he's
gonna go like you know, Montgomery, like nineteen sixties French.

Speaker 3 (17:27):
Yeah, I have a dream.

Speaker 1 (17:29):
Was he wearing the Love Hurts hoodie? That's that's an
awesome hoodie, that Love Hurts hoodie. Oh my goodness, that's
so great. It is a good design. Yeah, I'd have
worn that. Okay, yes, all right, so give me, give
me one other big celebrities. Give me one other report Mary.

Speaker 5 (17:41):
Mac um let's see, let's see looking through, looking through. Oh,
it's probably one of my favorite ones. Some own Biles
and her husband Jonathan Owen showed up and somebody uh
basically quote tweeted it and said, uh, Toddlers and Tierra's wow.

Speaker 1 (17:59):
I don't I don't think that's a compliment or is
that Okay? I didn't think so okay, off it was
bad though? Oh really yeah it was really bad yea,
but so it was? Was it was that outfit better
or Spike Lee with the Knicks hat? Okay, very good?
Angel wreath even looked good.

Speaker 3 (18:16):
Okay, what do you mean even look good?

Speaker 4 (18:19):
Like?

Speaker 5 (18:19):
I don't know, just because you know her, her fashion
is a lot more like street outside young intern.

Speaker 4 (18:27):
Yeah, I'm just trying to be careful with words that
the mets uh nickname. No oh, I thought it was
the turn thing. I'm like, wait, that's it's a phrase
that the Mets.

Speaker 2 (18:38):
I mean.

Speaker 3 (18:39):
Yeah. Diana Ross showed up for the first time in
eighteen years. Rihanna's pregnant again, crazy again. An injury report
or not injured report, but but health report. We had
a health report. We had a pregnancy to report. Semia,
I just like that. You waved.

Speaker 1 (18:55):
She was either either your preaching at there's no answer.
There's so you're now you're pregnant or you're not. There's
no semi. You're either pregnant or you're not. There's no
It's like offside in soccer, you're off side of you're not,
there's no Maybe.

Speaker 3 (19:09):
That's where we get into the fine line of do
we have the v R capabilities that can show whether
your shoulder is three inches off side?

Speaker 5 (19:18):
But Colin Kaepernick showed up. He looked like he was
in Hunger Games.

Speaker 1 (19:22):
Wow, Okay, I gotta I gotta look up Colin Kaepernick
now and see what is that?

Speaker 3 (19:26):
Okay, the Janelle Monet look was Interestingana Taylor's is really good.

Speaker 1 (19:32):
All right, there's our official metal.

Speaker 3 (19:35):
Chalamy didn't show up so he could stay wat We
got that one from from our guy lead to that
shallow may show.

Speaker 5 (19:44):
There's a rumor going around that basically like whenever Timmy,
Timothy Shalame and Kylie are together that and something happens,
like something always happens, h and it's usually a loss.

Speaker 1 (19:57):
Okay, so they need to be apart. Then the rest
of the next playoffs all right, that's God, that's what's good. Yeah,
that's how it's gonna be.

Speaker 3 (20:05):
Look, man, you got to understand where the importance is.
It's uh, it's been a mental health is an important thing.

Speaker 1 (20:11):
When Nucle Louis broke up with Andy and said, yeah,
you know, sex during this wind streak is gonna run.
You know I'll be when we lose.

Speaker 3 (20:18):
Okay, you want to explain to Mary and oh yeah,
you know what.

Speaker 5 (20:26):
Sorry, I also forgot to Joe Burrow showed.

Speaker 3 (20:28):
Up in a Batman suit.

Speaker 1 (20:30):
Real, did he drive the battle because he has a batmobile?

Speaker 4 (20:32):
Now I know?

Speaker 3 (20:33):
Yet he only has one arm? He doesn't. How about
how about Walton Goggins. You're going to drive it with
a cast? He should have shown up like baby Billy,
only drive your car with a sling?

Speaker 4 (20:43):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (20:43):
I think you only need one one hand you drive?

Speaker 3 (20:46):
He does right now, that's last year's he's you're looking
at what Frostburg knows.

Speaker 1 (20:53):
That's last year's man.

Speaker 3 (20:56):
That was the that was his last year outfit. He's
updated for twenty twenty five. Serio.

Speaker 1 (21:02):
So there's our Mets galat, there's our Mets guy. No
Mets guy, Mets what's a lot of stuff with Mets Gala.
Mets Gala. Hey, Francisco Lindor's tag in the ninth inning,
that was a Mets gala. Thank you, Mary Mac, thank you.

Speaker 3 (21:13):
For your report. I do like that. The the subtitle
of it all includes the ode to Dandyism. Yeah, yeah,
it's good. Well, it's good.

Speaker 1 (21:21):
We got a theme going on here.

Speaker 3 (21:23):
It's good.

Speaker 1 (21:23):
I mean it probably should have been a Knicks theme,
you know, we should we should have dressed up. Really,
it should have been a nixt theme. Hey. The theme
for the met gallat to night is the.

Speaker 3 (21:31):
Knicks is stealing. That's the theme stealing.

Speaker 1 (21:33):
Ah, sure, yeah, everybody's mcal Bridges tonight. We're stealing that
basketball weird. No, no, no, dude, we won.

Speaker 3 (21:42):
You stole it. Yeah, okay.

Speaker 1 (21:43):
It's like the Montreal are two columns. There is a
there is a win column, and there is a lost column. Semi,
I'll be keeping it. No, no, there's a win column.
There's a secon keeping that win. Not gonna return.

Speaker 3 (21:55):
The dangerous line, throwing that line semi to keep then
keep it, keep it, going to keep it?

Speaker 6 (22:02):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (22:02):
Crazy about Jenna Ortega as a disco ball.

Speaker 5 (22:06):
She looked really good Okay, it wasn't disco ball was
actually rulers.

Speaker 1 (22:10):
Like like like like she had like literal like in centimeters. Yeah,
like I could, like ID, I could pull a bit
off for address and I could measure something.

Speaker 3 (22:18):
Measureing yards that I'm just saying, you said rulers.

Speaker 1 (22:22):
I mean that's I think what I.

Speaker 3 (22:22):
Say, not like public indecency.

Speaker 1 (22:25):
Well, I'm not saying I would do. What I'm saying
is like when you said ruler, when you're saying that's
a problem. God dary, semi semi, semi semi. I will
have more from the NBA playoffs coming up in ninety seconds.
But first, a man who has been called the Spike
Lee of Fox Sports running nobody told me.

Speaker 3 (22:46):
Because of his feud with Reggie.

Speaker 1 (22:47):
Miller and Steve de Sager, he's got what's trending.

Speaker 6 (22:50):
Yeah, big Knicks fan that I am. We are often
confused to New York that reason and that reason alone.
By the way, there has never been an NBA postseason.
We're all four road teams won the opener of this
round the conference semis. If Golden State wins tomorrow, that
would be a first. We had two shocking road wins
tonight to open second round play. New York won at

(23:11):
Boston in overtime one o eight, one oh five, even
though the Knicks were down by twenty mid third quarter
seventy two to fifty two, twenty nine points each for
og On Andobi and Jalen Brunson. Mcal Bridges with a
steal at the end. He had seven assists, one turnover.
Kristaps Porzingis in Boston did not play in the second
half due to illness. Jalen Brown from three point range

(23:32):
one for ten in keeping with his team the Celtics
from three point range fifteen of sixty, the most missed
threes ever in a playoff game and most attempts. Then
Denver trailed most of the night at Oklahoma City, but
still beat the Thunder one twenty one to one nineteen.
For Oklahoma City, it's actually their first loss in almost
a month. Aaron Gordon with the late three pointer the

(23:54):
game winner. He had twenty two points, fourteen boards. Nikola
Jokich forty two points, twenty two rebounds. Jokich with six
assists seven turnovers as well, but they're up one game
to none in this best of seven. Shay gilgis Alexander
at home thirty three points, but Jalen Williams five of
twenty shooting, chet Holmgren missed two free throws late, and
Oklahoma City, which had been thirty five and six at

(24:16):
home in the regular season, dropped this one by two
to Denver. The NBA Coach of the Year is Cleveland's
Kenny Atkinson. In first place votes, he beat Detroit's JB.
Bickerstaff fifty nine thirty one. Questionable for Tuesday for the Cavs,
Darius Garland with the Sprain tow also Evan Mobley and
DeAndre Hunter. Utah gave coach Will Hardy an extension through
twenty thirty one. The NHL's second round opener at Toronto

(24:39):
went to the Maple Leafs, holding on five to four
over Florida. The Leaf's lead was four to one to
start the third period. Couple other game ones on Tuesday,
the NHL's draft lottery was won by the Islanders despite
just a three and a half percent chance to do so.
San Jose will select second. The Baltimore Ravens release kicker
Justin Tucker. The Rams finalized their com tracked with quarterback

(25:01):
Matthew Stafford. In Major League Baseball, we've got a game
still going. The late contest in Northern California has the
A's in the top of the eleventh tied six to
six with the Seattle.

Speaker 1 (25:12):
Didn't the A's have bases loaded and nobody out at
sixty six and they couldn't get a run in.

Speaker 3 (25:16):
I believe there was a kitchener's interference involved there as well.
Still one man. They tried, believe me, they tried loaded
nobody out.

Speaker 6 (25:25):
The Mets are twenty three and thirteen after winning at
Arizona tonight five to four home runs for Pete Alonzo
and Francisco Lindor Edwin Diaz the save. By the way,
speaking of save chances, this guy Munos from Mexico for
the Mariners Andres Munos has had an ERA of zero
and did give up a run in extra innings, but

(25:46):
technically that won't count against the era because with the
ghost Runner those are all unearned runs, so still within
the era of zero.

Speaker 1 (25:55):
Could that help Devin Williams, You did not close?

Speaker 3 (25:57):
It actually help Devin Williams.

Speaker 6 (26:00):
Actually they brought in Luke Weaver tonight and he gagged
in the eighth one.

Speaker 1 (26:04):
Yeah, because Devin Williams loaded the Bay they went it
three nothing, he loaded the bases, I came out of
the game.

Speaker 6 (26:09):
Wea were heading around, allowed a run and was charged here.
But in the rain at Yankee Stadium, Padres got four
runs in the eighth and beat New York four to three.
There were rain delays at the start, in the bottom
of the fourth, finally it came to the eighth or
ninth inning in a downpour, they said forget it, we
are not stopping this again, and eventually the Padres won
their sixth in a row. Dodgers won seven to four

(26:30):
at Miami, the loss to sandyel Contra, who's ERA is
up near eight and a half now. The Dodgers record
twenty four and eleven. Padres are twenty three and eleven.
Dodgers did get two run homers from Freddie Freeman and
shohe Otani, but Taoscar Hernandez, who had his legal leading
thirty fourth RBI, left with hamstring tightness. Good news for
LA's Michael confordo. He singled to end an zero for

(26:53):
thirty one slump. Cleveland at Washington rained out. They'll play
a doubleheader tomorrow. Atlanta shut out Cincinnati twenty four to nothing.
The brave starter who got the win. Aj Smith. Shaver
had a no hitter through seven, allowed a leadoff single
in the eighth. The Cubs beat the Giants nine to two.
Cubs lefty showta Emonaga was placed on the aisle with
a strained hamstring. Milwaukee five to one over Houston. Houston

(27:16):
d h Jordan Alvarez is on the injured list with
hand inflammation. Kansas City has won twelve of its last fourteen.
The Royal shut out the White Sox three nothing, winning
pitcher Cole Reagan's eleven strike ads in five innings, and
Saint Louis sent Pittsburgh to a fifth straight loss six
to three. They're going to the bottom of the eleventh
in Sacramento A six, Mariners six.

Speaker 1 (27:36):
Back to you, noig you, Steve O, Jason Smith, Mike
Harmon Lot from the Fox Sports Radio studios. Now he
heard Steve mentioned Justin Tucker, who was released by the
Ravens today. Tucker, who of course has been accused of
sixteen separate accounts of sexual indecency assault by different massage therapists,

(27:57):
very reminiscent, of course, of the Deshaun wat situation. Now
Tucker has maintained his innocence. Yesterday, John Harbaugh, Ravens head coach, said, listen,
any decision we make about what's going on with it's
got to be a football decision. Today they released Tucker, right,
they drafted a kicker in the sixth round, and I'm
sure they wanted that out there today. Hey, here he

(28:18):
is hitting a seventy five yard field goal in practice.
This guy's great. So Tucker gets released.

Speaker 5 (28:25):
And.

Speaker 3 (28:27):
I understand they had to wait.

Speaker 1 (28:29):
I get it. It's the off season. There's no games.
Same thing with with Deshaun Watson. It was the off season.
There were no games. You can wait and see how
to make this final decision. So, okay, they get to
the point they make the decision. They let Justin Tucker go.
And I get it because you know, sixteen, sixteen separate
women have accused him in this that I can't believe

(28:51):
sixteen people are making it up. But they should have
just let him go because they were completely tone off
the Ravens in that they went out of their way
to say this was a football decision. The statement they
put out thanking Justin Tucker for all his years of service.
Come on, man, you know what the background of this
people understand. People aren't stupid. Everybody knows this story. They

(29:14):
know it's not a football they was a football thing.
You would have brought the kicker into battle with him
over the course of the summer because he's coming off
a bad year, at his worst year in the NFL.
You don't just if you were going to replace him
because it was a football thing, you would have done
it right after the draft, or.

Speaker 3 (29:28):
You would have been cut in the middle of the
year because he struggled terribly. He cost them games and
situational football that that went went awrye time and again
and kept owing to the well, he's one of our
greatest of all time. Yeah, there was what was it,
week nine or week ten. It's like we were talking
on air. Should he just be cut at this point
for performance? In addition to everything?

Speaker 1 (29:50):
You would have both performance, but clearly you talk about
his performance, but clearly this is something where the Ravens
seem tone deaf to what's going on around the fact
they had to go out and thank him and say
it's a footpoint when everybody knows it's not. And this
is the organization that can't be that way. More than
anything else, going back, Ray Lewis Ray, Rice, Justin Tucker.

Speaker 3 (30:13):
Just cut the guy. Just cut the guy. Okay, you don't.

Speaker 1 (30:16):
Need to say what a great guy he was, because wow,
this can wind up looking bad and blowing up in
your face. You cut him, that's all you need to do.
You cut him. You can talk about it, not talk
about it, but you cut him. When you do this, Wow,
you sound really insensitive and really tone deaf to what
everything is going around this because you know you cut
him because of what's going on off the field, and
now you want you to pretend like it's not happening, Like, okay,

(30:36):
if we don't talk about it, fans aren't going to
say anything. No, this is kind of how it goes
if people aren't stupid. So they're tone deaf and they're
taking vantage, thinking, oh, our audience, our fans, everybody else,
they're not smart enough to figure it out.

Speaker 3 (30:48):
No fans, the local talk show hosts, the newspaper writers,
everybody that's covered this has watched it balloon from an
initial allegation to as you said, sixteen. So the preponderance
of evidence and details that have come out, this was
the natural conclusion. There's plenty of time should somehow he

(31:11):
be exonerated of all of this to throw flowers at
his feet and you've done it every year as a
player anyway. But at this point it's the we release him.
Should have been a simple two sentenced statement and been
done with it and let the courts, let the proceedings,
let whatever flows from it happen, and then you bring

(31:33):
him back into the fold. Fine, but as it stands now,
you're putting it up going don't forget this is football reasons, right,
you're almost triple underscoring it and making it blink in
the statement that they put out with the amount of
falling over themselves to had him on the back on
the way out the door, knowing what this is done

(31:55):
with the organization for the last year. And if you
think that beyond, I mean I should know idea.

Speaker 1 (32:00):
And if you think that somehow, oh he's just gonna
get picked up, No, he's not getting picked up, right,
he's not. Nothing is happening with him until his legal
situation is resolved, and maybe nothing happens. But coming off
the bad year he had end this, no one's touched
him for a long time.

Speaker 3 (32:14):
Don't rule out the Browns with a guaranteed.

Speaker 1 (32:16):
Country Oh, stat that's low hanging fruit for you. That's
low hanging fruit exit. How about a Presca exit swollen dome.
Jason Smith, Mike Carbon coming up next. You are not
gonna believe what the Nuggets broadcast team said on the
game winner by Aaron Gordon that gave him a one
game to none lead over the Thunder. It is absolutely incredible.

(32:39):
You will hear it next right here, Jason and Mike
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (32:45):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.

Speaker 3 (32:54):
Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show is my best friend.
Mike Harmon gidea.

Speaker 1 (32:58):
Oh, by the way, speaking of apology, yeah, I'll take
all your James Harden apologies. You all know who you are.
I told you no one said James Harden away from
winning anything. And there we go. We saw it game seven.
Throughout the playoffs. We see it with James Harden. He
has a good regular season when he wants to, then
he gets tired in the playoffs and his team loses.

Speaker 3 (33:18):
And now it goes. You get two games, good games
in that series, and how many games were there? Seven? Seven?
What if the Sixers out him.

Speaker 1 (33:27):
Oh, then he wouldn't be in the playoffs. They wouldn't
be there at all. Wait a little Rockets trade for
embeid You keep trying to pawn embiid Off on all
these teams. People are trying to put him in a
Lakers jersey.

Speaker 3 (33:42):
I keep seeing that. It's like, Oh, here's how they
make it happen. I'm like, if he does that, Rob
Polinkas should be fired immediately and they should both the doors.

Speaker 1 (33:52):
All right, So, Frostburg, you have something for us that
we have to hear about the end of the Nuggets
win over the Thunder.

Speaker 4 (33:57):
Well, I wasn't wrong earlier when I said we were
the prime of a Russell Westbrook moment at the end
of that.

Speaker 1 (34:02):
Game, Okay, Or you're upset that he passed the bay,
maybe he was. He made the right basketball play and
fe he made a great play. It's the redemption of russ.

Speaker 3 (34:08):
So we had Brown and Brown factoring into the two
ends of the game, all right, Jalen Brown getting the
ball ripped from his.

Speaker 1 (34:14):
Gut, finding out what can Brown do for you at
the beginning and end of So.

Speaker 4 (34:20):
What if I were to tell you, Yeah, the broadcasters
for the Nuggets TV at Altitude TV.

Speaker 1 (34:26):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (34:27):
Their audio was recorded to them watching the final play
with seven seconds left in the ball in Russell Westbrook's hands.

Speaker 3 (34:34):
Oh boy, okay, how do you think this went? They're
gonna end bad? What do you mean?

Speaker 1 (34:38):
They were recorded like they were like they were doing
the game. It is a play by play, right, No,
this is TV. They don't have TV. They don't have
TV for second round.

Speaker 4 (34:45):
Oh okay, okay, reacting to what's going on.

Speaker 1 (34:49):
This is them. Okay, so the reacting seven seconds okay, Okay, God,
I god, okay, So this is them reacting to what's
going on the final seven seconds.

Speaker 3 (34:57):
Okay, got it? All right? Are you ready? I don't
am I. I'm a little afraid, actually am I?

Speaker 1 (35:02):
Okay? All right, let's go. Let's hear it.

Speaker 4 (35:06):
No no, no, no.

Speaker 1 (35:23):
Again is the greatest thing. So you can hear the
wall saying no no with Russell Westbrook with the ball
like no no, no, shoot it.

Speaker 3 (35:29):
No no no no, no no no no no oh no.
Oh geez, oh geez, march, Oh geez. That's the best.
That is. That is the broadcasters. No no, no, no, no, no,
no no no. That sounds like me, what's the end

(35:53):
of the Knicks game? No, no, no, no, I don't
know they heard you through the soundproof glass and everything
else here those final few minutes of that Knicks game.
Oh yeah, that's incredible. I love that.

Speaker 1 (36:03):
No no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, great great play.

Speaker 3 (36:06):
Come on, we all weren't thinking the same thing. Yeah, yeah,
no no, it was the what's he gonna do? As
soon as the ball hit his hands, Russell?

Speaker 1 (36:13):
What look, he makes a phenomenal play here, right, just
for a second, Chet Holmgren misses both free throws, which wow,
seventy five percent from the line.

Speaker 3 (36:22):
He misses both free throws.

Speaker 1 (36:23):
And they get the ball out to Russ, who gets
it on the wing, and he clearly could make a
drive towards the basket, and he makes the right call.
He takes a couple of dribbles, drawing Check to him
because Check gets down on defense pretty quick. Right, he
misses that free throw, he gets back.

Speaker 3 (36:39):
He hauled back.

Speaker 1 (36:40):
Ye, he missed it. He got back on d really fast.
So there's two defenders in the lane. Russ takes a
couple of dribbles towards the lane. Chet can't go anywhere.
He's got to kind of suck down because if Westbrook
gets to the hoop, he's got to get there, so
he closes things off. If Westbrook continues with that play,
at best he gets the free throw line right, he
gets blocked or where he bounced, and because of that

(37:04):
he knows bang bang, and he makes a great pass
cross court to Aaron Gordon, who was spotting up for
that three, and Gordon catch shoot, drills it, and the
Nuggets win. It's a phenomenal decision. And again, I feel
like this entire season has been a redemption of Russell Westbrook,
who it didn't work with the Lakers. Okay, hey, it

(37:25):
seems like it might kind of work with the Nuggets
a little bit, but especially Michael Malone gets fired. You
hear the Nuggets all saying wonderful things about him, how
much they like seeing him play the role he is
in now with Denver. He is embracing it. Didn't always
embrace his role with the Clippers, didn't always embrace his
role with the Lakers. Embracing this now with the Nuggets,
and he makes a great play. I mean, I feel
this is the redemption of Russ red dead, redemption of

(37:47):
Russell Westbrook.

Speaker 3 (37:48):
But we always wonder once he get to be the
well traveled veteran, how much of that you're gonna listen to? Right,
it's the number one receiver in the NFL. Realizing, hey,
the skills have eroded a bit, but I can still
catch the ball and still created up space. Can I
be a number two? Right? And kwam Bolden. As his
year years went on, he became the best post up
receiver you'll ever see in terms of creating space to

(38:11):
get a first down or get to the in the
red zone. For Russell Westbrook, it's been a lot about
that of recognizing you're not the guy that's getting thirty
eight minutes a night and where the balls running through you.
And he's had a fantastic run. One of the things
that was going round in the early part of the
game was as he made his first appearance, he was
getting a standing oh, which is something they do every

(38:34):
time he comes back through. So getting the respect there,
but certainly a huge play and a guy that you
know beloved when he's doing when he's at his best, right,
because you know you're getting maximum effort, you just don't
know what the endgame is.

Speaker 1 (38:52):
The thing is what you have to do. Is earlier
in his career, when he was this force of energy
and he was a dynamo. Was let Russ cook right,
let him do his thing. He's a triple double threat
every night. That was when you let him cook. He's
a triple double thread every night. Like That's what he did.
And while there was still a little bit of I
don't know that Russ is doing. No, this is kind
of how it has to go right for Russ's team

(39:14):
to win. Now you're just hoping Russ doesn't do too
many Russ things, and by and large he hasn't.

Speaker 3 (39:22):
Right.

Speaker 1 (39:22):
You can't sit here and say, look at all these
bricks he's throwing up, missing, look at this bad decision.
He makes a great decision under a lot of pressure
in a frantic moment and the Nuggets are up one nothing.

Speaker 3 (39:33):
No, he missed that three pointer, as we talked about
with Steve Desager a little bit earlier, and gets his
redemptive moment. Does it take it to the rack finds Gordon.

Speaker 1 (39:41):
Exit out about a Fresca exit swollen dome from Mike
Im Jason coming up next to my buddy Ben Mallard.
