Speaker 2 (00:24):
Listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Greetings, Welcome in Side hour three The Jason Smith Show
with my bas friend Mike Harmon. Gide up live from
the Fox Sports Radio studios where the timber Wolves had
cut it to eight.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
Looked like we could see it. No, no, no, no, no.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
Warriors push the lead back to fourteen ninety to seventy six,
still four minutes left to go a game the Warriors
have played all but thirteen minutes without Steph Curry, who
left with a hamstring injury. Not know how long he
is going to be out, and it is as embarrassing
as it could get for Minnesota to continue to lose

(01:06):
this game the way they are. But before we get
to that, okay, you know, whenever something happens in sports,
it hasn't happened twenty five.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
Thirty three years. We kind of have to spend a
couple minutes thirty three. I'm now maybe so hitting rewind.
Maybe maybe this happened, but I don't think so. I
think this was the last, and I think the anniversary
of it just happened, maybe a week or two ago.
If I have it right, the anniversary has happened.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
Okay, you want to know what White Sox baseball is
all about on one play?

Speaker 3 (01:43):
Well, how about this play from earlier? Tonight game? The
White Sox lost because partly of this play in the
ninth inning.

Speaker 4 (02:05):
His head, man, can it's gonna be favorite second base?
The White Socks have played great defense all night.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
And that was.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
A routine Bigley tough up. Wasn't sure, was it?

Speaker 2 (02:25):
He?

Speaker 3 (02:26):
Royals TV on the call, Sure was? It was nobody
out runner on first top of the ninth inning and
easy pop up to second base. Yeah, and Chase Mendroff
the ball hits him in the head, square in the head,
bounces away. Instead of one out runner at first, there's
nobody out first and second. Royals got a couple of

(02:46):
runs and they win the game, win the game. Last
time that's happened Jose Conseco. Who is you know, nobody's
you know, the ideal of a great outfielder made famous
in nineteen ninety three, it happened. Outfielder for the Rangers
going back a ball it was on the warning track,
lost track of it, put his glove up, the ball
hit him in the head and bounced over the fence

(03:08):
for a home run. Yeah, that's the last time. I
don't think this has happened.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
Six nineteen ninety three, Carlos Martinez hit the ball the
right center field and there you have it.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
Yeah, my droff, one.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
Of the prize prospects that came over in the Crochet deal,
and it hits him in the head. I was showing
you the video, Ozzie Geehan, Well, I'll get to talk
to you about this. Yea on the White Sox postcame
because the White Sox still have a postgame show. Yet
they still did the postgame okay, and he's like, if
I were a manager, we're practicing under the lights until

(03:44):
two am. He's like, it was all fine until the
lights came on. And then defensively they had a bad
play in the infield, a botch double playball, and then
you have this pop up where he just loses it
and then it has that look on his face. The
eye is as wide as saucers of yes, this will
now live forever.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
And you heard the Royals announcers. They were laughing. They
were laughing while was going on.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
No, obviously you're getting laughed at by the Royal.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
First thing is, well, the Royals, Royals are actually pretty good.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
Yeah, yeah, but just the history of the Royals outside
of a couple of blips and Bobby Witt Junior.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
You gotta go back to George bretton Dan Quisenberry.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
Now, the first that, obviously is that my drath is okay, right,
because in the head is not a thing.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
But he looked like he was okay right after.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
I'm stunned because his soul was taken.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
I don't know, And look, I know that it's like
playing baseball, playing softball my whole life, and playing infield
outfield pop ups of all kinds, right, yes, summer summer
hit really high and you have trouble. But I don't
know how a professional player, especially on a can of
corn pop up, how it hits you in the head.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
I know how Frothburg, there's only one reason the white
there's only one way that works.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
I remember when it happened with Kinseka, right, I hadn't
been I think I was only an ESPN there was
a production assistant for like a month or so, like
I think I had just gotten the job and I
was a production assistant. I was still like, Oh, my goodness,
this is the most amazing place in the world. This
is so great. And Canseco gets hit on the head
and I remember him saying after the game, They're gonna
show that on Sports Center every day for a month,

(05:20):
And so that's what we did. We found a way
to show it every day, and then like once we
got like fifteen days in, I think we had him.
There was a meeting where were like, do we show
it or do we kind of just stop doing it?
Do we really need to keep showing it for thirty days?
He said, We'll show it on Sports Center for a month,
and I think want to say we stopped doing after
like sixteen or seventeen days, But it was a thing
where for the first two plus weeks we would Shownseko

(05:43):
getting hit in the head somewhere in Sports Center over
the course of the show. And of course, because you know,
and it would choke and Sako say they're gonna show
this on sports every day for a month, and it
was like day day six. You know, soundful play by
play ball hits him in the head.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
You see the replay where where that you've seen a
million times where he's kind of closes his eyes and
puts his glove up because he doesn't know where the
ball is. And we would show it, but we stopped
doing it like like two and a half weeks. But
Joe judging a fly ball man not the easiest thing.
Let's let's face it. Some of the guys are only
in the field because they have to play a position.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
Yeah, because you can't have bases. You have to catch
a fly ball. I understand, I understand the whole Will
you go do it. I'm not a professional athlete. No no,
I'm not a professional athlete. I'm not making excuses. The
catch has to be made.

Speaker 1 (06:28):
I'm just saying I've watched it at all levels where
you have different levels of proficiency.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
I'm never gonna tell somebody the radio show. Come, no, no, no,
this is what I do as a professionals. We do
as professionals. It's like, this is you know, you.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
Catch a fly ball like this is this is It's
not like it's not like it was the wind was
incredibly bad, or it was raining like it was last
night in New York or anything, or was there's something
happened somebody tripped and felt this was Hey, here's a
pop up and one out.

Speaker 3 (06:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
Yeah, he just loses loses sight of it hits him
on the top of the head. Just absolutely ridiculous. But
I mean, you coached right, both softball and soccer. How
many times you see a ball in the air. Can't
judge it either way? Right, soccer or bit or softball.
It's like, okay, I'm gonna the first step is always
supposed to be back yet and at least that's what

(07:20):
I was taught as a kid and all that. But yeah,
from my draft this this is gonna be tough. He's
got to hit like three eighty for the next.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
Month, dude, this is this is And this is why
I feel bad because this is his highlight for his career.
He's like, you're the guy that got hit in the
head with on the pop up. You got to pop
up hit him in the head. Now.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
Fortunately it's an early May game against the Royals. So
it'll it'll drift if.

Speaker 3 (07:43):
You go and playing it, but the internet lives forever. No, No,
I'm not.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
I'm not saying it's it isn't part of his lore.

Speaker 1 (07:49):
But what I'm saying is he's got a long career
hopefully you know, I speak of that as a long
suffering White Sox fan in Southside chicagoan but for for
Chase my drop, you know, they're hopeful that he's a
guy that has the long career and is a cog
to the batting order and a good contact hitter that

(08:12):
that has a long run.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
I'm trying to distance myself on that play as I can.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
Yeah, it's hard to. It's certain moments it's just impossible
to come back from because it's always something that's gonna
like you're gonna think about this every day.

Speaker 1 (08:26):
Yeah, but it's it becomes part of the highlight reel
of what is already a lost season in Chicago.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
So when you have this infusion, because.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
It's like, hey, just call up all the guys they
brought in from Boston, but this head of play.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
But this play now stands for the entire franchise, Like
what give me? From where you're at right. Now, here's
the White Sox in one play. That's this play. That's
absolutely the problem is this one doesn't stand alone. You
could do this.

Speaker 1 (08:50):
You could do the one Shining Moment video, the entirety
the Luther van Dross, including the musical bridge. You've got
enough highlights like this from the last two years. No, dude,
nothing like this, Nothing like getting hit in the head
with a pop up that you that you misplay a
pop up in the infield. You know what, Because I

(09:11):
love my mental health too much, I'm not gonna do that,
super cut.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
But I assure you there are other instances not like this,
And here's here's you know, and and to make to
make things worse on this.

Speaker 1 (09:23):
Blaze, hey, okay, make it worse. The ball bounces out
to the outfield. They have a chance to get the
runner at side, except the throw from right field goes
into left field.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
But that's the thing. But that's just it.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
The ball hitting him on the top of the head
is not the only indignity suffered by White Sox fielders
in that moment. Like there's already a petition, Hey, why
not just make Frank Thomas the new manager.

Speaker 2 (09:47):
Of the White Size.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
Hey, get Ozzie gian back out of the studio, let
him go yell at these guys and try to whip
him in the shape. Like there's theories all out of
the place. I'm gonna announce my candidacy while I'm in town.

Speaker 3 (09:59):
Get hit in the head in the infield by a
pop up? I mean really, that that's that's too high.
That that defines your career, Like, that's that's it's always
You're gonna think about that every day. That's something that
every single day. Yeah, and I get with a pop Yeah,
that's that. That that's the that's yeah.

Speaker 1 (10:18):
But see now you you've got a career low okay,
and you're saying that is my floor. Okay, so I
can never touch that floor again. So what you're saying
is it's the worst it's going to be as long
as you don't get hit in the head with another
pop up. Yes, okay, all right, So that's so that's okay,
So the long road begins with that first. The rest

(10:41):
of your career is a success as long as you
don't get hit in the head with a pop up.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
Well, it's all relative.

Speaker 1 (10:47):
I mean, look, I would like to think that you're
looking for a little bit more out of your career
for that, and and some longevity and and a few
hits along the way. But when I get by get
to the bottom, I go back to the top of
the slide where I stop and I turn and I
go for a ride. Just keep the lyrics of Helter
Skelter in your head, because you've hit rock bottom. Now

(11:09):
it's time to uh to build up. I don't know, man,
this is this is more.

Speaker 3 (11:13):
This is more like when Christian Bale just kept falling
and the you know, and he couldn't get out of
the out of the pit and trying again, and I'm
trying again and I'm trying.

Speaker 1 (11:21):
But eventually he got out. He's like cheese in the dumpster.
I mean eventually he got out.

Speaker 3 (11:26):
Eventually he did, but it's still it was it took
him a long time. I don't know how you.

Speaker 2 (11:31):
I'm really, I don't know how you got to school
into it's I.

Speaker 3 (11:34):
Mean really hitting the head. And again the Royals announcers
are laughing while it's going on.

Speaker 1 (11:39):
But this is one where it's like, boy, you really
wish the guy, the poor poor kid would have gotten
a chance at bat just if nothing else either. It
compounds it because he goes flailing into the night, or
he gets a hit, or he takes one for the
team and they rather so he doesn't even get it
another chance.

Speaker 3 (11:57):
No, no game over.

Speaker 1 (11:58):
Because it's a walk up, because then the Royals going
to win in a walk off, they get a bunch
single and then after a pop up, two hits in
a row wins the game. So you lose the game
because of that, where potentially you would have won had
you caught a pop up.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
Potentially. I mean, look, we can't predict that.

Speaker 1 (12:13):
It wouldn't necessarily happen because I mean, you are, after all,
the ten win white socks.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
Yeah, no, that is true. That is true.

Speaker 1 (12:20):
So assuming you were getting all three outs is kind
of fool hardy and a bad job of analysis by
everybody in the greater world. But it does not take
away from the shame bell ringing in the background as
we play that.

Speaker 2 (12:34):
Well, bearing no more pop ups, they might have won.

Speaker 3 (12:37):
Oh that's true. Hit the ball on the ground. Ground.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
We need a force cround balls. We need ground ball pitchers.
We can't have fly ball pitchers in Chicago. Did you
see what happened to Macdrouth last week? We can't have
that happen. Can't do it. Meanwhile, Conseko is hitting around,
going why is my phone blowing up yet? Nine o'clock
on a Tuesday night.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
It's not even May twenty six yet, Why are.

Speaker 3 (12:55):
They calling me for an interview? I mean it's a
couple of weeks. Oh. Oh, because I went on his
Twitter to see if your tweet about it. He is not.

Speaker 5 (13:02):
Oh.

Speaker 3 (13:03):
I thought for sure he would have tweeted about it.
Give it time, Yeah, but I got okay. Is he
on the Dan Patrick Show tomorrow to talk? Yes? Is
he okay? Yes? Yes? I think you're right. I think
you're right as well.

Speaker 1 (13:15):
In fact, I think he might already be booked for
the damn you think so. I think it's probably already right.
I bet you that's happened. So that's White Sox baseball play.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
That sums it up really quite nicely.

Speaker 3 (13:29):
Time is ticking away.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
We are going to have yet another win by the
visiting team in the second round of the playoffs. With
no Steph Curry and a limping Jimmy Butler, the Golden
State Warriors beat the Timberwolves.

Speaker 3 (13:45):
Ninety nine eighty eight. They take a one game to
none lead in their second round series. First time in
the history of the game, all four road teams have
one game one of the division conference semis in the
same season. We will break this down coming up next.
And insane confluence of circumstances in the NBA playoffs. Maybe

(14:09):
the home teams will never win a game. Everybody know
who's making it to the NBA Finals? Keep it next, right,
here's must listen radio Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (14:19):
Not the Knicks.

Speaker 3 (14:21):
Knickt are going to the finals.

Speaker 6 (14:22):
Just so you know, be sure to catch live editions
of The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at
ten pm Eastern seven pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio
and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (14:34):
Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon sing it Fred.

Speaker 3 (14:40):
So, yet another second.

Speaker 1 (14:44):
Round game in the NBA Playoffs and the home team
is still yet to record.

Speaker 3 (14:50):
A w road dogs.

Speaker 1 (14:52):
All of the visiting teams have won, they have all
been under dogs and now second round the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (15:00):
That's really interesting. Uh, Knicks are going to the finals,
by the way.

Speaker 1 (15:05):
Just gotta jump to the conclusions, Matt, Is that what
we're doing here?

Speaker 3 (15:09):
Absolute hundre but I do have to say this. I
do have to say this, because he was one of
those guys that would trend every night on Twitter for
a good like five years and it was hard to
see why. And like Alex Caruso kind of became that
guy took a torch, but for a good five year span,
like very regularly, Buddy Healed would trend on Twitter time

(15:32):
and Buddy Heal algorithm like Buddy Heal it did, and
he would trend his late games on the West Coast
playing in Sacramento. But I gotta say, Buddy Healed now
having a two game stretch that everybody thought was gonna
be the norm for him like eight years ago. Oh,
Buddy Heal, he's gonna be terrific. He's the missing every
single team, he was the missing piece for Buddy Healed

(15:55):
is the guy he's gonna break. You can get Buddy
Healed the trade. You're gonna win a championship. Remember, you
go get him. He was a laker many times you
got yes, like seven or eight times he was a
laker seven times. You gotta go get Buddy him. You
gotta go get Bud Buddy Heal is so good all
that you put him in he's gonna be the missing piece,
and instead he's turned into a nice ten to eleven
point a game scorer. But the last two games, Game

(16:18):
seven against the Rockets, the Buddy Healed game, and now
another Buddy Healed game. He steps up with Steph Curry
being out and he has a huge second half, not
a great first half, but a huge second half. His
final line twenty four points, seven to nineteen, but in
the second half made all his threes twenty four points

(16:40):
to lead the way for the for the Warriors. Here
also had eight rebounds in three It says, this is
like what we thought he was gonna be in twenty sixteen,
twenty seventeen, this is what we thought, buddy. Finally he's
here at thirty one years old and eight years later, Hey,
buddy healed. Look at these two games, ah Man, eight
years late. But hey, let's celebrate. You're just at the party.

Speaker 2 (17:00):
You made it right, even if you're late.

Speaker 1 (17:02):
As soon as someone actually walks through the door, you
mad at him, unless they were supposed to bring the
drinks or the ice or whatever. If they were just
showing up, you made it.

Speaker 3 (17:10):
Good for you.

Speaker 2 (17:10):
You're not mad at him anymore.

Speaker 1 (17:13):
I mean, maybe you had to you know, play you know,
game night had to go off in a different direction
because you were missing that extra body or two. But look,
Buddy Heald showed up in a big way. You had
the early start from Draymond Green. He was fantastic out
of the gate. Steph was five of nine, was starting
to find his shot and get into a rhythm. Jimmy
Butler and Buddy Healed in the second half no matter

(17:36):
what the Tea Wolves threw at them, and they started
to make a run. Second half, it got interesting, right
fourth or they made it interesting and then it's an
eleven point finale and they were able to run out
the clock and dribble it out for the final twenty seconds.

Speaker 2 (17:51):
But Buddy Held was fantastic.

Speaker 1 (17:53):
You found a lot of space and they moved the
ball well, like that was the one thing, right. Pat
Spencer playing a lot of minutes with his number sixty
one go Cats.

Speaker 2 (18:03):
Yeah, and his.

Speaker 1 (18:04):
Mustache, right, He's got the mustache and he's not afraid
to mix it up. He's head budded people in the past,
and he's the guy that's a nice tag team partner
for Draymond Green.

Speaker 2 (18:13):
And all of this as a protector, but they kept
finding Buddy healed.

Speaker 1 (18:18):
And no matter what we talked about the Tea Wolves,
one of the biggest strength is being able to have
length and close out on the perimeter. They failed miserably
in doing that and chasing Buddy Heel down tonight. Now,
I did say this earlier and again we had callers
to the to the Odd Couple about Jason. You said,
the Warriors gonna get blown out, like calling other shows

(18:39):
to get mad. Okay, well, I appreciate the love, thanks
for listening to the show.

Speaker 3 (18:44):
They called the Odd Couple to get mad at mad
at my take, the Warriors are going to get blown
out in game seven, They're done. I have to give
the Warriors flowers, and I will I said earlier tonight,
Okay you want flowers, Warriors, Okay, win this game without
Steph Curry, I'll give you flowers. And now it's like
I'm going to FTD. Here's what what do you want?

Speaker 1 (19:06):
Do you want me to go to the the supermarket
and go when you walk in to the right hand side,
there's all the different flowers. Hey, you get the eastern
flowers on the saale now because the holiday is over.
But now it's Mother's Day, so they can them back
up if they have any semblance of life.

Speaker 2 (19:21):
Back in them. Do you want the red roses? You
want the petty Rose.

Speaker 1 (19:23):
Wedding season, It's anniversary season, it's Nick's going to.

Speaker 3 (19:28):
The final season. Roses smell like poo poo. No, no, no,
my roses smell like roses roses.

Speaker 1 (19:35):
I will give the war I didn't want to smell
like even even a twelve point This is this is
gets into our next part of our conversation.

Speaker 3 (19:43):
But first, the Flowers a twelve point lead when Steph
went out. Okay, give the Tea Wolves the retsch of
the first half to adjust and second half is going
to be a different story. And instead the Warriors lead
Balloon to twenty before a late third It wasn't even close.
It's a late surge got it to to within twelve, right, Like,

(20:04):
that's what we saw in the second half. So yeah,
the fact the Warriors closed this out with Buddy Heald
having another big night, Jimmy had had twenty points, Draymond
was great earlier. I think he had fourteen of his
eighteen points in the first eight minutes. Like for them
to close this game out on the road without Steph Curry. Yes, flowers,

(20:25):
all kinds of flowers for the Warriors, because this was
a very, very big deal. Not for a second did
I think they can hold on in the second. I
didn't think they'd have enough. They have enough firepower. But still,
for some reason, Buddy Heald is single guarded and he's
hitting threes all the time. There's two guys gonna hurt you,
and really, Buddy Heel's the guy that's gonna gonna make
that lead grow and grow and grow. And still he

(20:46):
was able to be open enough and he made five threes.
I mean they made eighteen threes tonight. Yeah, I mean
quick and fuzzy match. I don't know what the what
the Wolves were doing defensively, I don't know what they
were doing in transition. It was awful because they would
still you'd still wind up with players getting open shots
five passes. How do you have the Warriors open for

(21:09):
shots without Steph Curry on the floor where they can
make them where you're single guarded or you lose a defender.
This should have been it, This should have been this
should have been Okay, it's twelve points beginning of the
second half. We're gonna win this thing by fifteen. But
again Flowers for the Warriors because I didn't think they
could do it, and they did.

Speaker 1 (21:28):
Flowers for the forty four point thirty one was the
halftime score. Not exactly the most esthetically pleasing first half
you're gonna see for the Timberwolves, and abject failure eleven
points in the second quarter and Anthony Edwards and folks
that do the box score reading or get a couple
of highlights. He finished with twenty three and fourteen. He
was absolutely non existent in the first half. Right we

(21:50):
talk about Chase Midrath of the White Sox and getting
hit in the head. That was the equivalent of it.
With his zero for ten to get things started. He
had one point at halftime. It was a free throw
right before the half ended. Just an abject failure five
of twenty nine from three point range where the te Wolves. Overall,
you had a decent game from Nazrid. He gives you

(22:11):
nineteen off the bench. Devincenzo. I gave you the well,
how many fights will he get into before this series
is over?

Speaker 2 (22:19):
We said it. He want to send it one and
a half or two and a half.

Speaker 1 (22:22):
What do you think he's taking heat check shots when
he's three for eleven from the floor. It's not like Devincenzo. Hey,
he's hitting threes and he's taking heat check shots and
he's shooting terribly.

Speaker 3 (22:33):
Like, guys, what the hell is going on? Anthony Edwards
had one point at halftime, like, what the hell is
going on here? Man?

Speaker 2 (22:39):
No, it was a miserable failure.

Speaker 1 (22:41):
And you think about the Warriors, and I know the
game seven was not a hotly contested battle. They went
and took care of business and didn't have to play
forty eight stressful minutes, but they still had to play
the extra game. You had plenty of time off, plenty
of stats floating around the interwebs in terms of teams records,

(23:02):
certainly in the last five to ten years of having
that much time off, and you look, they look like
a team that had just run six hours of practice.
All right, now go play a game like now you
just ran us.

Speaker 3 (23:14):
We got no lights. I know it's in.

Speaker 1 (23:16):
Jump shooting was terrible, Rebounding efforts were terrible. They got
they lost every fifty to fifty ball. That first half
was a clinic. Steve Kerr whatever he and the Veterans
got together to to say, hey, we need to come
out and throw the first punch on the t Wolves
did not handle it well, no at all.

Speaker 3 (23:34):
Look, and we'll get to we'll get to more in
depth on the Tea Wolves and really who had the
worst lots tonight in a few minutes.

Speaker 2 (23:42):
But it's look the Warriors and they win.

Speaker 3 (23:46):
Without Steph and the way this broke down, in case
you haven't seen it, Steph Curry left the game after
thirteen minutes played with an hamstring injury. He was just
back on defense. Looked like he made a cut and
he grabbed for the back of his left hamstring. He
finished the defensive possession, went down on offense, put up
a real kind of weakish running one hander where he

(24:10):
wasn't moving around well. He went back up the floor,
limping even more. Stopped the game. They took him out.
He walked out under his own power. The official diagnosis
postgame for Steph Curry with his hamstring injury, who did
not return to the games, which again is why it's
so embarrassing then teams lose this game, is that he
is day to day with a hamstring injury. Right, so

(24:31):
not a lot but day to day. Big deal that
the Warriors won this first game, because now, okay, you
think even if we lose game two, we're good enough
back we stole home court advantage now and maybe Steph
needs a couple of days. But here's the thing with
hamstring injuries is that hamstrings generally aren't something that I'm
coming back from in a day and a half, right,

(24:51):
that's generally something that doesn't happen. Not knowing not be
but seeing enough. Hamstring injuries generally it's a few days.
It's a three to five days even for the most
slight of hamstring injuries, because you don't want to re
injure it because then really, then you're done. And the
Warriors winning this game bought them some time to say,
you know what, Steph, we don't don't worry about game two.

(25:12):
Let's take a look in a couple of days and
see when you're ready for Game three. So I would
say this right now, knowing that you gotta nothing, you
got you got a date, you gotta data, data. Rest
I assume he will be sent back home ahead of
the team, probably going back tonight or at some point
for treatment, and he is absolutely missing game two, and

(25:33):
he will be if you told me, if you set
the over under for games he'll miss at two and
a half, I would say he'll miss the next two
games and probably back for game four. I'd say he
misses game two, he misses game three, and he's back
for game four, because that's at the end of that
five day window where Steph can feel good. Because even

(25:54):
if you're the Warriors, you lose game two, and let's
say you lose game three at home, Okay, it's two
to one, and Steph will be coming back. Whereas you know,
missing one game coming back, that's a lot to push it.
Especially when Steph came out of the game. This wasn't hey,
I still feel like this was No, I gotta come out.
I'm feeling this. I got to come out of the game.
So if you said, if you said two and a half,

(26:16):
I would I would take the over and say he
misses two and then he's back for the third game.
But no, it's not really over under two and a half.
The over under would be, well, you'll take it.

Speaker 2 (26:23):
You'll take the under.

Speaker 1 (26:24):
If you're setting in at two and a half, you're
taking the under. I'll take he'll miss the next two games.
What I want to say is he'll miss the next
two games, then probably look for him in game four.
I mean, obviously you bought yourself a little bit of
time to where you don't have to press it and
force him back on the court. You have the other positivity,
not only the arrival of Buddy Heel these last two

(26:45):
games again, thirty three points in the closeout game.

Speaker 2 (26:47):
He'd had forty two through the first six.

Speaker 1 (26:50):
Games, including a zero in Game six before Awakening has
the huge second half here, Pozenski only had three points.

Speaker 2 (26:59):
He was one of seven.

Speaker 1 (26:59):
You've got nothing offensively from him, so I would suspect
we get a little bit of balance here, right, You
get a little bit of a pullback from what Draymond
gave you because they're not gonna let him just stand
out at your go ahead.

Speaker 2 (27:11):
I mean they basically did the Caitlin.

Speaker 1 (27:13):
Clark to him, Yeah, take the shot, yeah, And then
he hit one, and then they did it again, hit
his second, all right, Draymond, and before long you're buried.
So you got good minutes, and you got guys like
Spencer and Moody that are gonna be able to spell
you buy you some some time defensively, at least being
adjutants out there, even if they're not contributing necessarily to

(27:35):
the final box score rhythms of it all. But yeah,
i'd buy some time. And for Steph, I mean we've
seen the Internet doctors going well. Could be three to
six days, could be three to six weeks, all of
those kind of things, depending on how much of a
strain they decide it is.

Speaker 2 (27:52):
But yeah, I'd approach with caution.

Speaker 1 (27:54):
So the way the schedule comes out for the series
is they play every other day through till Monday, right,
So game game two is on Thursday, Game three is Saturday,
Game four is Monday.

Speaker 3 (28:04):
So if you're talking about here's Tuesday night, six days
for Steph Curry to get back five to six depending
your he played tonight, so you're saying tomorrow's first day arrest.
So then you're thinking, okay, you're at the end of that.
For him to come back in game three, saying all
of a sudden Tuesday and his hamstring's better on Saturday
to go up and down the floor, that might be
a little too soon to be.

Speaker 1 (28:25):
To be fair, he's not exactly a defensive stalwart, so
he can kind of just kind of creak towards the
three point line, maybe now, and you can steal some
minutes that way.

Speaker 3 (28:35):
Now you want to get you want to get a
little outside here. Let's just say it's a little bit
longer for him. Okay. The break between game five and
game six is four days. Okay, yeah, the old.

Speaker 2 (28:47):
TV stuff game play.

Speaker 3 (28:49):
Yeah, so it goes game one, game two, Thursday, game three, Saturday,
Game four, Monday, game five Wednesday. Right, so it's every
other night through till next Wednesday. Then game six is
not until Sunday. So you're talking about right now, eleven
if they can somehow get it to six games, it's
eleven days for Curry to rest, if he if he

(29:09):
needs to rest that long eleven days.

Speaker 2 (29:11):
Look at you trying to put that cape on, buddy heel.
I see what you're doing.

Speaker 3 (29:15):
But it's a buddy heel playoff.

Speaker 2 (29:17):
Hey, Look for all the Warrior fans, there's your flowers.

Speaker 3 (29:22):
I gave you fly, I gave you flowers. Smell man, Well,
I didn't sell, but you got flowers. You plant food
with him too, to put in they live for a
long time, but smell though. Time now to find out
what's trending in the wide world. Of sports. But guy
has been called the Buddy Healed of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (29:37):
Hey, Buddy, eight years.

Speaker 3 (29:39):
Ago people thought he was gonna be great. It's Steve Desager.

Speaker 5 (29:42):
What's trend that took a turn?

Speaker 3 (29:46):
Well?

Speaker 5 (29:46):
The road teams in the NBA playoffs on Sunday went
too and oh, and on Monday two and oh, and
tonight two and oh. This is the first three straight
days of that in the NBA postseason. Golden State a
winner at Minnesota Open a second round series ninety nine
eighty eight. It really wasn't that close for much of
the night. Steph Curry left in the first half with
the strain hamstring Buddy Healed twenty four points earlier. Indiana

(30:10):
won at Cleveland again up two games to none, after
beating him in a comeback one twenty to one nineteen.
Donovan Mitchell scored forty eight points in defeat because out
for the Cavs to night where Evan Mobley with a
sprained ankle, Darius Garland again with the sprain tow he's
missed a couple of weeks, and DeAndre Hunter was out
with a thumb injury. Nonetheless, Cleveland led by twenty early

(30:31):
in the second quarter, led by fourteen to start the fourth,
still up by seven with under a minute left, and
lost at home Tyrese Halliburton the game winning three. The
NBA's Executive of the Year is Oklahoma City General manager
Sam Presty. The Florida Gators gave coach Todd golden and
extension through twenty thirty one. To the NHL playoffs. Edmonton

(30:53):
has comeback to win at Vegas four to two and
a second round opener. This is the first time the
Golden Knights have ever lost a playoff game in regulation
when they were up by two goals or more. They
had been in postseason forty seven and three went up
by two goals or more, and those three losses were
all in ot The Oilers are now the first team
in history with five straight come from behind wins in

(31:14):
a single postseason. They got three goals in the third. Tonight,
Carolina won its second round opener in overtime at Washington
two to one. Caps had only fourteen shots on goal.
Avalanche coach Jared Bednar will return next season despite losing
a first round game seven over the weekend. He's been
there for nine seasons. Dustin Johnson of Live Golf got

(31:34):
an invite to play next week's PGA Championship. He's won
two majors in his career. Inter Milan won in overtime
today to advance to the Champions League Final, eliminating Barcelona
four to three. To the MLB scoreboard, the A's have
taken the lead now on to the top of the
ninth Athletics three to two over the Seattle Mariners, but
Seattle does have bases loaded. One out everything else's final,

(31:57):
including an Angels win with six runs of the bottom
of the eighth eight three over Toronto. San Francisco scored
nine times in the top of the eleventh to beat
the Cubs. The Yankees with ten runs in the bottom
of the seventh to whip San Diego, ending the Padres
six game winning streak. Pittsburgh has lost six in a row.
Saint Louis beat the Pirates and Paul Skins two to one.

(32:18):
Detroit at Colorado was rained out. They'll play a doubleheader
on Thursday. The Rockies have a record of six and
twenty eight. White Sox lost again their ten and twenty six.
Gave up two unearned runs in the bottom of the
ninth to lose at Kansas City four to three. Miami
beat the Dodgers in ten innings, five to four. LA
outfielder Tasker Hernandez went on the injured list with a

(32:39):
string groin. Arizona defeated the Mets five to one. Zach Gallin,
who's era was near five, went seven strong innings for
the win. The Mets offense four for twenty nine tonight.

Speaker 1 (32:49):
Back to you, you know, we didn't need all that
at the end.

Speaker 2 (32:53):
Just final scores.

Speaker 1 (32:54):
Fine, just final scores, fine, five to one, Just to
final scores five. Thank you, Steve, Wait Jason, you guys
lost to the Diamondbacks again.

Speaker 3 (33:01):
Yeah, what do you mean again? First time we beat them?
Last night? They beat us tonight. Okay, what are you
gonna do without your Who is the best record in baseball?
It doesn't matter this early in the season, that doesn't matter.

Speaker 5 (33:13):
It is twenty three wins for the Mets, and twenty
three wins.

Speaker 1 (33:19):
If you refuse to do it last week when the
Mets had the best, you can't just suddenly.

Speaker 5 (33:22):
So now you're going to be answered every question.

Speaker 3 (33:24):
No, no, you can't, buddy.

Speaker 5 (33:25):
Originally you asked it every hour.

Speaker 3 (33:28):
It did get tired. I have no memory of that.
I have memory that the answer is the dodge. I
wish I had no memory of that.

Speaker 1 (33:34):
Coming up next, does Steve Kerr agree with me as
far as what could happen for Steph Curry gonna be
out a couple of days.

Speaker 3 (33:41):
You'll hear from the Warriors head coach. Coming up next
right here, and the biggest story in the NBA This
is Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 6 (33:48):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.

Speaker 1 (33:56):
Five second dance party, Ah, Fox Sports Radio. That you
Bason Smith's Show with my best friend Mike Harmon. Yeah,
so another night, another night where the away teams win
both games in the second round of the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (34:10):
You want an the odds and what that got you?

Speaker 1 (34:13):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (34:13):
Okay?

Speaker 1 (34:13):
So if I bet every one of the game so
far in the second round, and I wanted to bet
the visiting team in every game, what odds would I get?
We didn't even need the second one of the first game. No,
I'll take that to the Pacers. I don't have I
don't have the extra Oh okay, all right, so I've
got just from last night and tonight Nicks plus three

(34:34):
ten Nuggets plus three sixty Pacers plus two forty Warriors
plus two hundred a one hundred dollars money line parlay
win the game, Okay, just win the game plus nineteen
one thirty seven. Okay, so you have a nineteen thousand
dollars profit for your one hundred dollars bet.

Speaker 3 (34:54):
But how much did you have to return for the
next stealing? That was absolute how we had to do it,
and that is now the definition of steal. And it
would be even more if I said I want to
take that into the first game of the second Yeah,
in the second round two with the Cavs tonight. No,
that's yeah, yeah, buddy.

Speaker 1 (35:11):
Because then your payoff is minimum twenty two to one
while we start looking at what the average payoffs would be.
But obviously a little longer odds because you had some
pretty heavy favorites here. But yeah, absolute chaos in the NBA.

Speaker 3 (35:25):
So the big story obviously Steph Curry leaves Tonight's game
with a hamstring injury after just thirteen minutes, and the
Warriors find a way to hold on to win. Flowers Flowers, Warriors, Flowers, Flowers, Flowers.
So what is the latest on Steph Curry. How long
will he potentially be out for? Let's listen to Steve
Kerr who met the media just a few moments ago

(35:46):
and talked about what could be next and when we
could see Steph Curry next play in the playoffs? Sure
particularly tricky to play through.

Speaker 1 (35:54):
Are you kind of operating under the assumption, game planning
under the assumption over the next twenty four hours that
he probably won't be out there game two?

Speaker 7 (36:01):
Yeah, we're definitely game planning for him to not not
be available on Thursday, but we don't know yet. With
a hamstring, it's hard to imagine that he would play Thursday.

Speaker 1 (36:13):
What's kind of the I mean, I know it's early
and you'll have a day to really think about it,
but as you reset the series without him, what's like,
how do you find enough scoring?

Speaker 7 (36:24):
We? Uh, we have to talk about that. We're gonna
give the players the day off tomorrow. Nothing, no film.
They needed, They need a day. You know that these
games are have been every other day. We're flying all
the way across the country. Our guys a retired and
they need a rest.

Speaker 3 (36:42):
They need the day.

Speaker 7 (36:43):
So coaches will meet tomorrow and we'll figure out our plan.

Speaker 3 (36:46):
For and we'll call Katie.

Speaker 5 (36:49):
Hey.

Speaker 1 (36:50):
I know things didn't end great, but hey, what if
we can make some moves here?

Speaker 3 (36:56):
The NBA clear would like us to make it further
in the playoffs and the t Wolves because you know
we're the Warriors. En you want to come play? Would
you come plain to see dude? Draymond promises he won't
say a word to you.

Speaker 2 (37:06):
Come on.

Speaker 1 (37:06):
He got useful minutes out of Kaminga before it was
all said to night.

Speaker 2 (37:09):
Here's a great one from uh Draymond Green.

Speaker 1 (37:12):
He says he was asked if Steph Curry was good
when he walked off the gourdon, you know, saying hey,
and Curry says I'll be back.

Speaker 2 (37:19):
So they then played the next several minutes.

Speaker 1 (37:21):
Without knowing whether he was going to return from the
hamstring injury. And this is how he described the squad quote,
Robin turned into Batman and Alfred turned into Robin.

Speaker 3 (37:31):
Oh, you know, I do remember a couple of Now
I'm dating myself, but I do remember a couple of
Batman's the old TV show where something happened to Batman.

Speaker 2 (37:41):
Yeah, yeah, and.

Speaker 3 (37:42):
Alfred had to dress up as Batman. Yeah, And clearly
people didn't know that. Well Batman, Okay, he was thirty
five year old dude. Here Now he's a seventy year
old with a mustache and a white hair and okay, like.

Speaker 1 (37:53):
Whiskey musta about taller, yeah, and also about forty pounds lighter.

Speaker 3 (37:57):
There was a lot taller, you know. And I'm like, oh,
I remember when, like I know, maybe that was when
you know, Hey, I have some scheduling conflicts. Well, we
got an episode coming up where Alfred's going to be Batman.

Speaker 1 (38:06):
Oh, okay, great, we'll do that, all right, Adam West, okay, Wes,
I'm shooting.

Speaker 3 (38:13):
I'm shooting. I got a movie that I'm shooting, so
I'm unavailable these days. I will make out. That'll be
when we make Alfred Batman. All right.

Speaker 1 (38:19):
That's perfect Alfred, especially when you eventually got the Pennyworth
series and the whole other backstory to what Alfred was
up to all those years. I can't bury another Batman.
How many Batman's bear I buried fourteen Batman's with the
little pointy ears, and I can't bury Master Bruce. I
just want to know that you got out. I just
want to know that Steph will be all right. And

(38:40):
I won't have to take any watch because Buddy Heal
is only going to make so many shots. It's Buddy
Healed after all.

Speaker 2 (38:47):
Yeah, but that meant Buddy Heald was Alfred in this
equation the butler.

Speaker 3 (38:51):
Yeah, okay, Buddy Heal because he's clearly calling himself Batman.
Yeah that's true. No, you're right, you're right. Is he
calling himself Alfred? And Jimmy goes from being Robin to Batman?
I think Jimmy Butler goes to being Batman. Okay, so yeah, is.

Speaker 1 (39:06):
Draymond then Draymond. I don't think he's gonna call himself
the butler unless he really notes the backstory.

Speaker 2 (39:13):
This is where we need to know how much Batman.

Speaker 1 (39:16):
And alfha and you know, being part of the ikying
like Draymond might be like when oh, when Superman comes
in Superman, or he could be the Joker.

Speaker 3 (39:27):
I mean, Draymond as a joker would be you know. Yeah,
but I know, but I think I think Jimmy goes
to Batman.

Speaker 1 (39:34):
I think that that should have been the follow up.
Jimmy goes to Batman, Healed goes to Robin. I think
that's how I think that's how it is kaminga oh
uh
