Speaker 4 (00:42):

Speaker 5 (00:42):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (00:43):
Oh?
Speaker 6 (00:44):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (00:45):

told there was no game.
Speaker 3 (00:50):
There's no game. Sell, there's no Game seven tonight.
Speaker 7 (00:52):
Mike Carmon, did your family lock you in a room
all weekend?
Speaker 4 (00:58):
I can't get out?
Speaker 3 (00:59):
What is it? This is?
Speaker 4 (01:00):
Uh? It's saw. Welcome in. Everybody, Just be quiet because
I'm focused on I can't.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
I'm locked in on the knicks. We can't do anything.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
Can we go to the store? No, Why I'm locked
in on the knicks? They don't play for four more days,
doesn't matter, doesn't matter. I am really just like I
can sit in front of the TV and watch things
in front of me mindlessly go past me. But I'm
really I'm locked out. You can't ask me to do anything.
I'm locked in on the Knicks.
Speaker 4 (01:25):
You lost two out of three to the Yankees.
Speaker 7 (01:27):
Yeah, lose three to one to the Red Side, Like whatever, basic,
it's not fall season. Whatever, So so sad and homesick
and and whatever else. Feeling like he's, uh, you know,
back when we did the Freddy Freeman and the Brains,
although Freddy Freeman at least had a history, so it
made sense.
Speaker 4 (01:46):
Yeah, no, I get no. Look, I have thoughts on that.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
But but come on, man, I mean there's there, you know,
there's this is this is come on man, I mean
I'm I'm sitting here going through all more Knicks videos
all day, and I want to see more. I don't
want to see the guy getting garbage thrown at him anymore,
but I want to see all the Nix.
Speaker 8 (02:00):
How many times are you bit Pam's ankle?
Speaker 1 (02:04):
We are recreating the first round? Recreate yeah, trust me,
Nick's heat. You remember this, Pam?
Speaker 3 (02:08):
We were together. Then this is back James, trust me.
Trust me.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
You just try to walk across and I'm gonna grab
onto your legs on the bottom and I'm gonna kind of.
Speaker 7 (02:16):
Just read this damn causeplay ever you dragged me across
the floor.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
Oh we have to be wearing Alonzo Morning Jersey. I did.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
Yes, Yeah, I'm hanging out. You know what, I'll get
that off a Amazon. I can get that thing in
like twelve hours.
Speaker 8 (02:27):
It'll be absolutely comes off the bench.
Speaker 4 (02:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (02:32):
Now you gotta get a skull cap or ship someone's
head to look like and gundya. Man, it's really getting
into a very weird space, right. Oh sure, Zoe, you
have to sit see if you're suspended or not?
Speaker 3 (02:43):
Why would I be? What are you talking about? This
is how it goes.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
Okay, we're just gonna keep reliving this, right wait, wait
till Tuesday comes?
Speaker 3 (02:49):
Why what's Tuesday?
Speaker 1 (02:49):
We relive all the Knicks Pacers playoff matchups going back
to nineteen ninety five.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
All we go through all of them, all the way through.
Speaker 8 (02:56):
So Reggie Miller highlights, Yeah, well I.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
Got Zoe's gonna be Spikling and pamilby Reggie Miller so
I figured that out from there that that's gonna work
out pretty much.
Speaker 7 (03:05):
Did you see that suit he was wearing at the
con Film Festival today, Yeah, that is a power pitch's
suit right there.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
That's a suit.
Speaker 5 (03:12):
Right.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
We figure everything out Tomorrow's all day. It's just gonna
be we want we It's gonna be like a play
where you know, here's here's the Knicks Pacers in seven acts, right,
and we end with last year and it basically it
doesn't end with the end of the Pacers series. It
ends with them hard shot that I still can't believe.
And then it's a voiceover of after this shot, the
Knicks just basically fell apart. Camelin Brunson got hurt. Oh, Giano,
(03:34):
Nobi was.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
Hurt, everybody, everybody was hurt.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
But we'll see you tomorrow night for Game one of
the twenty twenty five Eastern Conference Final.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
That's how it ends.
Speaker 4 (03:43):
And seeing an.
Speaker 7 (03:44):
Applause, Yeah, I gotta say though, I mean, last if
we rewind to last year and found some of the
audio from that show, you were a broken man. Oh
yeah that in eleven years of working together, like we've
been through a lot of stuff, family stuff, all sorts
of hot Low's off his stuff and all all these
things in our industry and the world at large. I
(04:05):
don't know that I've ever read for Your Your Sanity
more than that night, because it was nem hard. It
was that was you would have thought this was the
guy that they picked out a section five oh eight
basically a lottery no theme on the guy's an Olympic hero.
Speaker 4 (04:21):
What are you talking about? He is not?
Speaker 3 (04:23):
And they cut stop with that stuff.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
The guy closed his eyes put up in the worst
part was after he made it, the look on his
face like I can't believe it. He's like the little
kid that gets his first hit in the little league
and he runs the first base, doesn't what to do
with stand there, look at his parents, and then Halliburton.
Speaker 4 (04:36):
Going, oh my god, oh my god, I can't.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
Believe he made Like Yeah, that was the worst part.
Was not even the best player on the team thought
he was gonna make it. He thought the series is
gonna end right there, He's gonna miss a three, Brunson's
gonna hit it.
Speaker 4 (04:47):
It's three nothing Nicks and it's over. No, No, we
owe them.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
I don't care that they got all this momentum now
because they paid for the guy to go to the
game that had garbage thrown at him. Yeah. No, we
got a little something something for you on wins. I
want the game now, I want the game right now.
I want to play that game right now, right now,
right now.
Speaker 7 (05:01):
Yeah, a lot of metaphors, analogies, whatever you want to
call it. When you start talking about trash, those are
some trash ass fanatics. Now I can't call them fans
because you got fans and those were the guys climbing
up the non greased up poles and your loving life
which really got people upset. Go get a hug, people,
(05:22):
Go get a hug. If it offended your sensibilities that
Knicks fans were celebrating advancing past the second round, go
find some light in your life, you know. Go hug
a dog, Go adopt a dog, Go buy some ice cream,
whatever you need to do. Like it really just over
the course and watching social media over the weekend. Other
than Caitlin and Reese, which we'll get to, the thing
(05:44):
that was in my timeline with the most was just
people just really mad.
Speaker 4 (05:47):
At Knicks fans for celebrating and being happy. By God,
what's wrong with you? Who are you.
Speaker 8 (05:53):
Yeah, it happens once every thirty years.
Speaker 3 (05:55):
Yeah, that's it, and celebrate.
Speaker 4 (05:58):
It's not it's not.
Speaker 1 (05:59):
Like the Nicks were not Like the Knicks were all
out in the middle of their fans, you know, doing
shots and partying like this is the fanswer is.
Speaker 4 (06:08):
In the middle with a flamethrower.
Speaker 7 (06:10):
Now we need to talks getting fired up.
Speaker 4 (06:14):
Come on now now we're.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
Live tonight from the tirac dot Com studios. Tirac dot
com for over forty years, they've been helping customers find
the right tires for how what, where they drive. They're
shipped fast and free back by free road, has protection
with convenient installation options like mobile tire installation. Tirerac dot
Com is the way tire buying should be. Now, with
today off in the NBA, we're off in the NHL,
We're waiting for tomorrow to kick things off again. The
(06:37):
biggest NBA story of the day goes around that Pacers
fan that went viral wearing a Halliburton jersey in and
out and around the Madison Square Garden area during the
Nicks elimination of the Boston Celtics in Game six. Now
you've seen the video, Now I got a big thing
to say about this. But let me just say this
right away. You've seen the video that is he's walking
(07:01):
and Nick fans are throwing garbage at it, like they
have actual bags of garbage, which is New York City.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
You can get pretty sure they were all throwing h
throwing bags of garbage at this guy.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
And now it got to the big ending today where
Pat McFie show. Of course, you know big Pacers fans
they are had the guy on and they surprised him
with Tyre's Halliburton who invited him to Game four with
free tickets. Now, this is a Pacers fan who lives
in New York that is now getting to go to
Game four. Okay, so this happens. And let me before
(07:37):
I get to a point on this, let me just
say this. This is terrible. I can't believe, like I
was embarrassed for Nicks fans that they're throwing garbage at
this guy. I get that everybody is out of control,
partying happy, but come on, man, I mean sir, and
you know the guy doesn't look like he's he's backing
away from things. So when I saw the video, I'm like, okay,
there's a little bit more of a story here. There's
a little bit more of a story here. But absolutely
(08:00):
that's awful, right those fans, come on, man, what are
you doing. You're you're making things bad for Nick fans everywhere.
You're making everybody look bad. Don't throw garbage at a guy.
I mean, come on, if you're going back and forth
and you're you're you're talking smack with a guy, that's great.
But come on, there's there's I'm one hundred percent I'm
saying there's absolutely no place for that. But but again
(08:21):
again again no place for it.
Speaker 3 (08:22):
And I'm not saying but there's a place for no, no, no, no, no.
Speaker 1 (08:24):
My butt is is from this guy's perspective because in
his interview that he did today, uh, he said that,
you know, he wanted to rep the Pacers and I
got a little too close to the enemy. Here's a
direct quote from Stan Paris. I don't know if I
can go win to the mob, but I go close
by and feel the energy. Get ready for the series,
make the series even better. When the Pacers beat the Knicks,
(08:45):
they got me so okay. Now again, can't do this right,
bad thing, bad thing, bad, don't do it don't do it.
Speaker 3 (08:52):
Don't do it.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
Dude put on a PACER's jersey and decided it would
be a good idea to walk in and antagonize a
bunch of crazy Knigs fans coming out of Game six
where they get out of the second round and beat
the Celtics. Okay, if you want to go down there
and rep and feel the energy, great, but you gotta
make a better decision than that. You gotta know that, Hey,
if I wear my I should have the right to
(09:14):
wear my Pacers jersey anywhere I want to at any point, right,
I should have that. Everybody should be able to wear
whatever they want anywhere. But you also have to understand
that certain times you could put yourself in a bad position.
Speaker 3 (09:25):
I'm not gonna wear a PACER's jersey and.
Speaker 1 (09:27):
Go in a bunch of Knicks fans who just won
and start talking smack with them about how we're gonna win.
I'm not even gonna stand there with that, because who
knows what's gonna like. There's making a smart decision and
there's doing that. I'm not gonna wear a Charger's jersey
into the black hole it's in here and go.
Speaker 4 (09:40):
Come on with me.
Speaker 3 (09:41):
Herbert Herbert. Come on, Darth Rader Herbert.
Speaker 8 (09:44):
I mean, there's dollars two.
Speaker 1 (09:47):
You just want to see me get beaten up. There's
certain things you do in certain things you don't. When
I saw that, I'm like, Okay, the dude, really you
need to make a better decision than that, right, You
make a better decision than I'm gonna wear this PACER's jersey.
You want to go down and feel the energy, great,
feel the energy whatever you do. But you know if
you do that, that's not a great decision, right, And again,
you should be able to wear a jersey whenever you want,
(10:08):
wherever you want to.
Speaker 3 (10:09):
But we've all been to games.
Speaker 1 (10:10):
We've all been in situations where, hey, if I'm wearing
a jersey of another team, you don't know what could happen. Right,
It's not about you, It's about the the outside forces
that are. Yeah, you don't know how they're gonna feel
coming out of a game, especially if you're there to
antagonize them. Right, I want to go down there, but
we beat the Knicks. I'm like, okay, dude, I think
there could have been a better decision made right there.
(10:31):
For that, it sounds like I'm victim blaming. But I'm
not saying again you should be able to do that
whenever you want to, but understand that that's not what
the world is like. And so a certain situation like this,
you know, going into that, you know you're walking into
the billy of the beast. It's like, okay, get that
things could go sideways pretty pretty easy on you for this,
So make a make a little bit better decision for that.
Speaker 3 (10:51):
That's all I'm saying.
Speaker 7 (10:52):
Yeah, I think I understand as a man who's had
trash thrown at in that an opposing venue before folks
of Carver Hawkeye Arena, that was that was Frost Western
Road wins. I'd had tickets that are in the family section,
and at the end of a game, as we're dribbling
it out, it's like all right, standing and applaud and
instead giant foil ball, which meant those people in the
(11:15):
back ate a lot of damn hot dogs.
Speaker 1 (11:17):
But all of that to say, no, I can't that
much about Northwestern basketball.
Speaker 7 (11:22):
Really well, it was Northwestern Iowa, Iowa at home.
Speaker 4 (11:26):
Okay, Yeah, that's a big deal. Man.
Speaker 1 (11:28):
It was still Northwestern basketball. Okay, sure, okay, I was
it the year you went to the tournament.
Speaker 7 (11:33):
No, oh, okay, we didn't go to the tournament when
I was there. Okay, this is another twenty three year.
Yeah no, this was just a bad year. But we
went into Carver Hawk, Irena. This is one of the
anti years. But anyway, Uh, the point being that that
you know experienced it. But you know, I anticipated guys
screaming at me in some f bombs. I didn't think
(11:55):
the foil ball would come at my head. But in
this case, in this day and age, you know what
the first thing I look for, all Right, I can't
wait to see what his social media videographer got out
of this whole thing. That's how cynical I am of
it all. It's like, no, he went and he was
looking for cloud or whatever, which maybe he was. But
and not to victim blame because certainly, you know, bags
(12:17):
of trash, because that's the other thing folks have to recognize.
If you've never been to New York City, maybe you've
seen enough episodes of your favorite police Cereal or something
to see it. But at the end of the night,
the restaurants are putting the bags of trash, you know,
in front restaurants on the street right, Yeah, exactly how
do you think they get so big extra sustenance as
(12:39):
you roll through? But it's not that they're hidden in
the back or anything, right where you have giant dumpsters
and nope, it's straight out to the curb for pickup
on the overnight. So that that's why these guys would
have bags of trash. Just to explain that away for
folks that may have missed that. But yeah, certainly going
into the belly of the beast. Plenty of NFL stadiums
(13:00):
where it's really advisable, probably not to you know, you
go to Chicago, Green Bay games, probably not wise anything
raid or related.
Speaker 4 (13:08):
The reputation is there. Gotta call it what it is
and go Philadelphia, and certainly go New York, Go New York.
Go particularly here. Man, you're gonna be.
Speaker 7 (13:16):
Overserved, and you're coming out celebrating a victory. You know,
the fact that all he got was a little bit
of trash putting his way. He ends up winning in
this man gets a lot of publicity, gets some free tickets.
Tyrese Halliburton knows his name now and is inviting him
to a game. I have you thought about putting on
some you know, opposing jerseys. Now, Smith, so you can
(13:37):
get some free stuff. Oh yeah, they think about you know,
because the get ends like eight hundred bucks for the Yeah,
for these games to get off the jump.
Speaker 4 (13:45):
I mean.
Speaker 7 (13:46):
Yeah, it's one hundred and seventy at okay, see.
Speaker 4 (13:50):
Eight fifty for game one of the of the Knicks.
Speaker 1 (13:53):
So the Knicks are here to save the NBA playoffs,
Mike Carmen. They're here to save the NBA playoffs. Are
those ex Knicks or look it's it's a Knicks Final four.
Knicks their biggest rival in the playoffs. Hartenstein, Randall Devincenzo.
Maybe maybe the twenty twenty four to twenty five Knicks. No,
(14:15):
maybe last year's team was better than this year's team,
considering everybody that was on the team is in the
Final four.
Speaker 4 (14:20):
Yeah, but now you sew it. Tony Shavanni announcing.

Speaker 4 (16:31):
It is Jason Locking for Jay. Congratulations on the gig.
Speaker 5 (16:35):
Well, you know, I don't know that I could be
much worse than what's going on right now, and that's
not giving myself any credit. But this is talking about
it rider, this ship now the joke until the GM
gets fired. But I'll just tell you, like fat him
every night against your oils every night, you'll make a
(16:56):
lot of money.
Speaker 1 (16:57):
I mean, this was a tea I mean, Jay, this
was the like I look at at the Dolphins, right,
I look back to the Miami Dolphins last year, a
year ago, a little bit over a year ago. At
this time, it was they were the future of the NFL.
They were fast, you had to get a playoff game
at home. They played that really cold game against the Chiefs.
And a year later, it's like, nope, that era is over.
When we're starting over and we're basically done and Nunos
the future is. I kind of feel that the same
(17:18):
way with the Orioles a year ago was everything is awesome,
we're young, we're going to dominate, and now a year later,
it's it's got to be blown up because we're fifteen
to thirty in last place.
Speaker 5 (17:27):
Well, they're also fifty seven and seventy seven. Since June
twenty first of last year, I was at the game
they beat the was up there with my little guy.
They'd beat the Yankee seventeen to five, and a businessman
specially to take three out of four in the Bronx
beat the crap out of Luis Hill, chased him in
like the third inning, like literally everybody had a home run.
(17:49):
They were tied with the Yankees. Of the best winning
percentag in baseball. And I sat there and I watched
them celebrate on the field in the Bronx, and my
stomach I started to feel like I was going to
throw a ball over myself. And I'm like, I've had
a six feeling one on my radio show and went
crazy the next day and said, if this team doesn't
get up his ass and give them a lot of help, now,
we're going to look back on this as the high
(18:09):
watermark of this team because they're so naive, and they're
so young, and Gunner's not going to hit one hundred
and twenty five home runs this year, and Adle's not
going to keep this up. And if they don't get
more real players around them, they can't just live and
die on three run home runs. And sure enough, a
year later, they're fifty seven and seventy seven. It's then
(18:29):
only one team has a worst winning percentage at home
in Major League Baseball, then the Orioles since June twentieth
last year, and that's the Chicago White Sox. Now, if
the Rockies come back and lose tonight, and boy, I
hope so, because I'm on the Phillies, then the Rockies
would also fall behind the oriol so they'd only be
the third worst at home if you include their playoff losses.
(18:53):
They're twenty seven and forty at home. In their last
sixty seven games, they scored three runs or less and
exactly fifty of their last one hundred and thirty six
paced buckets. I'm uh no, they're a joke. They're a joke.
Theyicularly low IQ baseball if they don't know how to
develop players. Their minor league system is highly highly highly overhyped.
(19:15):
And the GM's a fraud. So I mean, until the
billionaire who bought the team figures it out, we're just
all wasting each other's tiny there it.
Speaker 7 (19:23):
Is the parlay every night, Orioles, White Sox, Rockies, all
too loose.
Speaker 5 (19:27):
Well, I'm selling you pair. There are worse ways to go,
no words, that's true.
Speaker 7 (19:35):
I've certainly spent money worse just earlier today. All right,
so let's uh, let's get into the brass tacks of
it all, toush push is it ultimately going to get
out lawged?
Speaker 9 (19:44):
I mean, it's like they keep tweaking this because they
think if they didn't get you know, that they might
be able to get enough vote to state if they
get it worded the right.
Speaker 5 (19:54):
Way and if it really ends up eliminating any of
these ruggy style you know, movie scrums, which certainly the
Dell and the powers that be at Park Avenue seem
to think it's on slightly. And I don't know if
it was the michigas you know, with Washington there in
that game and you know, almost giving a team a
touchdown if you know, they thought that was a bridge
(20:16):
too far. But clearly the powers that be don't really
love this, and they can hide behind the you know,
help and safety thing or whatever. So when they push
something back like this and they move it from the
big league meeting to a smaller league meeting and they
tabled it, but don't scrap it, usually he thinks that
(20:37):
the league off the stakes that might be able to
get this. Now that by them time to make some mark,
you know, horse trading, and you do this, we'll do
that for you down the line, and you know, you
stretch our back, both stretchers. So we'll see if he
gets his way, but I wouldn't bet against it.
Speaker 1 (20:53):
I now elsewhere for the Eagles, this is this is
a great day because Nick Sirianni gets a huge contract extension.
When it looked like week four last year, he could
have been fired right because they started up poorly. There
was so many bad things going on.
Speaker 3 (21:07):
Was it that close?
Speaker 1 (21:08):
Like the Eagles started too and two they nearly lost,
Like they could have lost to the Saints that game,
then they would have been one in three? Like was
it really close for Sirianni early part of last year?
Speaker 3 (21:17):
Like was was that doom and gloom that close?
Speaker 5 (21:20):
Well, you know what I mean, it's kind of like
are you kind of pregnant? You know, like I don't
know what you know what I mean when you're close?
Like they obviously had a horrible They had a horrible
finish to the previous year. The bottom fell out. Uh,
there were some changes made to his staff that I
don't know that he was necessarily one hundred percent of
(21:42):
the genesis of you know, I think there are some
things strongly suggested to him. He I believe alertly realized
the gravity of the situation and didn't present a new
pushback and it ended up sticking, And it stuck pretty clear.
Speaker 9 (22:00):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (22:01):
The defense though Fangio is a very different style and
a very different type of communicator, and so it was
going to take a little bit of time today. Had
that dragged out, you know, a few more weeks, and
had they not made some of the changes they made
when they made it and reshuffled that secondary et cetera.
You know what I mean. I can't I can't say
(22:22):
for sure, but certainly it's not revision of history to
say that Nick Sirianni came into that season with a
renewed sort of scrutiny on him, not just locally but nationally.
But yeah, I mean, the league moves them in serious
ways right now. It looks like he's certainly going to
(22:45):
be there for a long time. Certainly ended up being
there after, you know, finally actually breaking that Super Bowl jinks. Initially,
they've got a great roster. I still think that division
is pretty nih and they now I think, reached a
point where like the quarterback was comfortable with winning games
(23:07):
and not having to win the box score forever, you know.
But then you wonder if the organization okay with that,
because boy, they're paying him a lot more money now,
and you know, is that is that okay if he
only attempts eighteen passes this week or only completes you know,
thirteen the following league, and the reality is I think
everybody understands that, like, none of that matters. And when
(23:27):
it's validated with the Super Bowl and then you know,
people start getting extensions off of that, I just think
it just sort of shows that they're all, you know,
everybody will if we do this the right way, everybody's
going to get theirs. And I think that quarterback is
a special leader, and he's even more empowered now with
what they did to the Chiefs. So I think Sirianni
(23:51):
is gonna then you don't be there for a while
and don't win a lot of games.
Speaker 4 (23:54):
Let's go to the other side of the country.
Speaker 7 (23:56):
Finally, the big contract signed in San Francisco, Rock parties
super Bowl appearance for him, and there's a lot of
handwringing because he's seventh five year extension, no trade clause
and reworking is. I got to think part of the
rationale of getting it done now Jason was to avoid
the lunacy that they had last offseason with contracts really
(24:17):
taking over the entire world.
Speaker 5 (24:19):
Yeah, and look he you know, did he want sixty again?
He couldn't make the case. And I think a lot
of people might have been in his ear saying, you know,
you should be getting with Dak Prescott got but ultimately
it's about what makes him happy. And I mean that
(24:39):
kind of does feel about right to me. And we'll
have to see if this that thing becomes the new
outlier in the way that did Deshaun. Watch the guarantees
work for a while. You know, I wonder about Dak
aav at least for now, but look, I mean, the
guarantees are legitimate. He's he's getting paid like a Time
(25:00):
ten quarterback. And now though, like it does change because
that team's in sort of transition already, and I think
a year from now they're going to be even more transition,
and it's going to be about him making other people
better and him not having to be along for the ride.
And you know, the mister irrelevant who everybody's really really
rooting for, and everybody's got a lot of slack and
(25:22):
this or that. It's like, no, that's a team that's
comes short of a Super Bowl aspiration. They spent a
lot of money, and now they're spending more on you
than they ever have anybody else. So that's a very
different dynamic and I'll be interested to see how that
plays out. Just to me, nothing really changes if they
get Trent Williams to play fourteen fifteen sixteen games and
(25:43):
have him healthy in the postseason. If they get there,
then they have a fighting chance. And if he goes
down and that offensive line is middling, then I think
they're in a lot of trouble.
Speaker 1 (25:54):
NFL insider Jason Locking for our guest Jason Smiths Mike
carbon Lot from the Fox Sports Radio studios. All Right,
we saw this great quote today from Trevor Lawrence talking
about Trevor Trevor Travis Hunter. He's got a lot of juice,
can run all day, a lot of motor, a lot
of energy. Hunter spent most of his time working with
the offense, but he was with the defense over the.
Speaker 3 (26:14):
Last couple of days.
Speaker 1 (26:16):
What do you think he does, Jay, as far as
percentage of plays offense, percentage of plays defense, how do
you think it ends up for him?
Speaker 5 (26:23):
An offensive minor head coach, right, and he's there to
prop up the quarterback and save the quarterback and make
the quarterback look like, you know, he's what he's was
supposed to have been, or at least an approximation of that.
So and then they picked. You know, not only are
they picking really high, but they move up a whole
bunch and some would say, you know, overpay in order
(26:43):
to get this player. So I have a hell of
a hard time thinking he's not going to be someone
who they're trying to get the football into his hands
when they possess the football. So I think that you'll
probably start there and you see how that goes. And
you know, he's got the ball skills to play on
the other side of the ball, and you know he
understands that, and I'm sure he's getting mental reps and
(27:06):
spends time with the DBS in their meetings as well.
But on field, I think he's trying to build up
chemistry between him and him and his quarterback, right. You're
trying to get him as folded in to that as possible,
because that's that's what the head coach is going to
be graded on first, even before wins or losses, is
going to be like, well, if he is this McVeigh
(27:26):
quarterback guru thing, then let's see what the hell he
does with Trevor Lynce. So I have a hard time
thinking that, you know, the first pick of that regime
is going to be spending more time on defense than offense.
Speaker 7 (27:38):
All right, last one for you real quick, since Jason
brought it up at the start about the Miami Dolphins.
They're foisting them upon us with five nationally televised games. Riddle,
be this why and say, got anything out of the
schedule release as you started looking at your over unders, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (27:54):
I didn't.
Speaker 5 (27:55):
I didn't change power rankings for me a whole lot.
It really didn't shift much. You know. There wasn't any
team that I thought got posed to a degree that
it affected how I handicapped them, you know, for better
really or for worse. I mean, these things can get
moved around now, you know, like we're in a different
(28:16):
era with what they can, you know, flop out and
flop in in terms of the scheduling and flex and
all that. So I don't really get too caught up
in that as well, because they're in the business and
making money. If they all of a sudden decided that
team is not gonna make them as much money as
somebody else in that spot, you know, it's going to
get slipped. I don't know, I don't know. They're not
(28:39):
particularly glamorous anymore, you know, I don't think they're particularly interesting,
to be honest with you, don't they're you know, teams
that are marketly worse than them and a talent. From
a talent standpoint, they'll beat most of the time. And
the team, you know, when they're when they're not favored,
they're probably going to get whacked around. And if the
weather is any factor at all, then they could get
(29:00):
really embarrassed, especially on the road. I mean, it is
what it is. They They'll win some games early because
of the intense home field that they have with the
heat of humidity, and then that evens out as the
season goes along. Yeah, I don't I don't much fancy him.
Speaker 1 (29:16):
He's on X at Jason Locke and four Odyssey Washington

talking about a Syracuse University lacrosse championship.
Speaker 5 (29:35):
Well this is I gotta be sureful what I said
around here, but I'm sorry, go Turps.
Speaker 3 (29:43):

Wow, what a vacation that would be.
Speaker 6 (30:18):
Or The Baltimore Orioles have lost their seventh game in
a row. They're fifteen and thirty one now lost at
Milwaukee five to four tonight, giving up a run in
the bottom of the eighth. William Contreras four for four
two RBIs, including the game winner. Seattle got a grand
slam in the eighth from Julio Rodriguez and won five
to one at the White Sox, who've lost five in
(30:39):
a row. The Cleveland game at Minnesota has been suspended
by rain after three innings, Twins lead two to one.
It'll continue on Tuesday. There was a rain delay of
about an hour early in the game another after the
third inning. Sonny Gray was sixth great innings on the
Hill at Saint Louis. They've returned after a rain delay
bottom of the seventh, and the Cardinals have added on.
It's eleven over Detroit in the top of the eighth.
(31:02):
The Rockies are holding on to a lead against the
Phillies three to two in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Royals at Giants scoreless in the bottom of the fourth.
Arizona out to a three to nine in lead on
the Dodgers bottom of the second. Earlier victories for Boston
and Houston, Cincinnati one it's fifth straight. Miami with two
runs in the bottom of the ninth edged the Cubs
eight to seven. The Philadelphia Eagles gave coach Nick Sirianni
(31:24):
a contract extension.
Speaker 10 (31:26):
He's made the playoffs all four years as a head coach,
including last season's Super Bowl win. Former Jets general manager
Joe Douglas will have a senior scouting role with.
Speaker 8 (31:34):
The Eagles, where he used to work. The forty nine.
Speaker 10 (31:37):
Ers gave linebacker Fred Warner a three year extension worth
almost fifty seven million dollars guaranteed, and they signed kicker
Greg Joseph. Officially, San Francisco had already given contract extensions
to quarterback Brock Purdy and tight end George Kittle. Former
San Francisco tight end Brent Jones will go into the
forty nine Ers Hall of Fame, and Tampa Bay defensive
end Simeon Rice will go into the Bucks Ring of Honor.
(32:00):
Quarterback Shador Sanders signed his rookie contract, as did Chargers
first round running back Omari and Hampton and Green Bay
wide receiver Matthew Golden. And this year's USC Notre Dame
game is the last one on their current contract, and
SI says SC has only offered a one year extension
for now. The Irish already had that new twelve year
deal to play Clemson on their schedule that'll start in
(32:23):
twenty twenty seven. USC is reportedly reluctant to get into
a long term deal with the Irish due to uncertainty
about the college football playoff format.
Speaker 1 (32:32):
Back to you, due to the fact that Lincoln Riley
is our head coach, we really are a little hesitant
about getting into this. Log Now, if we get out
of this in a year from him, if we could
find a way, hey, then we want to play you guys.
Speaker 10 (32:43):
It will be good, that's right, cause eight and six
can still get us into the new playoffs. Right, Why
would we want to play the Irish Lincoln Riley not
a dog?
Speaker 7 (32:53):
No, hey, let me ask you one question here though, Guys,
do you think that Jason's interaction with Joe Douglas forced
him back to a job with the.
Speaker 10 (33:01):
Eagles kept them off the air?
Speaker 3 (33:02):
Yes, it could have been. It could have been. Hey,
I can't.
Speaker 1 (33:05):
I can't do any more bits with that lunatic. I've
got to get back into football. I gotta go back, right,
I can't do that.
Speaker 10 (33:10):
Well, he'll have less awkward adventures, I think in the
scouting role.
Speaker 4 (33:14):
Yeah, I think.
Speaker 3 (33:15):
You're probably right.
Speaker 1 (33:16):
No one will walk and ask if it's awkward that
I'm wearing a Jets jersey in front of him.
Speaker 3 (33:21):
I don't think I have to worry about that. But
you never know.
Speaker 4 (33:23):
You never know it never.

Well, a story that I am enjoying just about as
much as the Knicks in the Eastern Conference Finals. But first,
of course, we're going to have the play of the day.
The play of the day, of course, is brought to
you by tire rack dot Com. For over forty years,

Speaker 3 (35:12):
The play of the day.
Speaker 11 (35:13):
And Alonzo's been busy, He'll flip the second light over
his head. Now Bida's hitting you the third, he'll stop there,
Duran taking off for second and a misplay by Alonso
for the second night in a row, ashge error against
the Yankees yesterday.
Speaker 4 (35:30):
No boy, yeah there it is Red Sox TV on
the call.
Speaker 1 (35:34):
The Mets lose again two out of three to the
Yankees this weekend. Lose to the Red Sox tonight. But
but and yes, I know won Soto's not hustling. Second
day in a row. We had a hit where he
didn't hustle. It went off the green monster tonight and
he didn't hustle out of the box, could have had
a double. I am sure Carlos Mendoza will talks him
about this. But this is a story, you say, Jason,
(35:56):
you're enjoying the story. No, I'm not enjoying the Mets losing.
But it's fine because we're in first place. As long
as the Phillies lose to Night, we're in first place.
Everything is fine. But one of the things great, it
can tell how calm you are. But no, I'm fine
because real life. You gotta remember Knick's were in the
Eastern Conference finals. But what I'm enjoying the most. What
I'm enjoying the most is I've never seen this before
in my life. But it's so great because one thing
(36:17):
is positive. After this weekend, Yankee fans are officially obsessed
with the Mets. They are officially obsessed with the Mets.
Every time the Yankees playing, suddenly it's the Yankee fans.
Speaker 3 (36:31):
Or like like it's the world series.
Speaker 1 (36:32):
Like winning two out of three against the Mets this
weekend was like the World Series for them. And they're
aggressive on social media, on messages, on text messages. To me,
it's it's like the Yankees used to never pay the
Mets any mind. It used to be come on, second
best team, and come on, man, where we have tradition.
Come on, don't bring the Mets up in here. But
now the Mets are good, potentially better than the Yankees,
(36:53):
and they just had the best player say I don't
want to play with you, I want to play across town.
And now they're obsessed, even the media, the fans, it is.
It is insane. I am so enjoying this meltdown.
Speaker 3 (37:04):
This is this.
Speaker 1 (37:05):
The Yankees are the friend that every time you get
together with them, they can't help but ask about their
ex and say about how I'm doing better than they are,
even though we broke up and they broke up with me,
I'm doing better.
Speaker 4 (37:16):
Than well, it looks like they're doing print. No, no, no,
I'm doing better than they are. They're obsessed.
Speaker 1 (37:20):
I want to watch Michael k today Yankees play by
play guy radio show in New York say oh, I've
heard from sources soda is miserable in New York.
Speaker 3 (37:27):
I've heard whoa wow.
Speaker 1 (37:28):
This tells me how obsessed the Yankees are at the Mets,
even in the mets worst day, even on the Mets
worst day, dude. You know Gary and Keith and Rott.
None of them are making headlines about hey, what's going
on in the Yankees clubhouse and talking about what's going
on behind closed doors, which obviously he has no idea.
I'm just gonna say this like this is the Yankees
play by play guy wanting to say, yeah, things are
(37:51):
a mess. Sodo looks miserable, like not even the Met
When the Mets were looking for relevance any way possible,
would they do.
Speaker 3 (37:57):
Something like this. It is so enjoy to watch the
Yankees do this. It is so great. Even Michael Kay,
I don't know what to say that when we beat
the Mets.
Speaker 4 (38:05):
It's great, we won the World Series.
Speaker 1 (38:08):
Yes, you're celebrating like Knicks fans getting out of the
second round.
Speaker 3 (38:11):
Congratulate.
Speaker 1 (38:12):
They are so obsessed and I love it because the
shoe is on the other foot and it's awesome.
Speaker 7 (38:19):
People in the no say that Juan Sota wanted to
be a Yankee. He chose the Yankees, but his family
wanted to be a Mets, so he chose the Mets.
Right quote attributed to Michael Kay. But yeah, you're looking
at a payroll that's what about thirty five million dollars
more than the Yankee So it's one of those rarities
(38:39):
that they've now come to play at the big boys
table and spending money and spending it well, right, because
that was always the thing, right Mets and the Cubs,
they'd spend a lot of money, they'd spend it poorly.
Speaker 4 (38:50):
And now you actually see it on the field. Why
because this guy changed squads and everything he does is
going to be scrutinized on a whole other level. You're
watching your squad that has tons of questions, and by
that I mean the Yankees mine. All the questions have
been answered.
Speaker 3 (39:06):
We suck.
Speaker 4 (39:07):
But for the Yankees, it's.
Speaker 3 (39:08):
Just one question, Just one thing wrong with your team, Mike.
Speaker 4 (39:11):
Just one thing, Just one thing, just one thing.
Speaker 3 (39:13):
That's it.
Speaker 1 (39:14):
What's that thing? It's one thing they stink. But outside
of that, you're good.
Speaker 3 (39:18):
You're good.
Speaker 7 (39:20):
Point the Rockies, Yeah, we do have the pope that
we that we do have. We'll see, uh when that
starts paying dividends in the wind column. But no, it's
it's it's a fun story. Baseball needs more where there's
actual rivalry beyond hey, can we brand this rivalry weekend,
which is great. A lot of people showed up, a
lot of asses and seeds, eyeballs to the television everything else.
(39:42):
Keep it sustainable, keep that heat up. And that's the
worst thing for New York right now for baseball is
that the Knicks are still alive. So there's still gonna
be the front and back of that. The Mets and
Yankees are going to be relegated to uh, you know,
the bottom three inches of.
Speaker 4 (39:58):
A page or the and yeah, you know what I
love here's the Michael kay stuff.
Speaker 3 (40:02):
That that just that just drives me.
Speaker 1 (40:04):
That I love about it is that for the longest time,
it was for the longest time, Sodo's gonna go to
whoever offers him the most money.
Speaker 3 (40:11):
Right, that was the story. I'm gonna say that a
million times.
Speaker 5 (40:14):
Right.
Speaker 1 (40:14):
It's just like a politician that promises something, promised on me,
promise something, and then it's time deliver.
Speaker 9 (40:19):
Go.
Speaker 1 (40:19):
Oh, I never said that, or I didn't say that, right,
Like this is this is all whoever offers the most
money he's going, He's going the Yankees got out bid,
you got played.
Speaker 3 (40:27):
You lost.
Speaker 1 (40:28):
Oh, but now it's oh, he wanted to be a
Yankee but his family convinced him to go.
Speaker 3 (40:33):
Oh, so that's what it is.
Speaker 1 (40:34):
It was it was the money until his family said, hey,
spend the next fifteen years of your life in a
place you don't want to be. And he said, yes, family,
I'll do that because I could say, what the Yankees
that make seven hundred and twenty million, but I should
go to the Mets to be miserable seven hundred and
sixty five million.
Speaker 3 (40:48):
Yes, one hundred percent.
Speaker 1 (40:50):
I love the fact Yankees are melting down treating beating
the Mets like it's their world series like they it's
like they've become the little brother in the city.
Speaker 3 (40:58):
Now it's fantam, we're the big brother the little It's
so great.
Speaker 4 (41:00):
See.
Speaker 7 (41:01):
What would have been funnier is if he'd said, well,
his family convinced him that they needed more money.
Speaker 4 (41:06):
Yeah, yeah, hey, yeah, because I couldn't give it to you.
Speaker 1 (41:08):
If I had seven hundred and twenty million versus seven
hundred and sixty five million, I.
Speaker 4 (41:12):
Couldn't take care of you.
Speaker 3 (41:14):
There's nothing I could do, nothing I could do.
Speaker 4 (41:15):
We make a lot of money, and we spend a
lot of money. Coming up next, we get into the
biggest story of the last forty eight hours.
Speaker 3 (41:22):
Keep it right here, Jason and Mike. Fuck, this whole
game is fertilizer. That's right where he said that.
Speaker 7 (41:29):
But you know what, they're going through a lot of
stuff right now, guys, Okay, Taylor and Barnes long standing
guys out man, I mean, you got a lot of.
Speaker 4 (41:37):
Stuff going on here.
Speaker 3 (41:39):
Yeah, no, NoDEA.
Speaker 1 (41:40):
It's like me dealing with the Knicks in the East Finals,
the Hurricanes in the Eastern Finals, the Mets in first place.
I'm dealing with a lot of stuff. Doctor fans dealing
a lot of stuff as well.
Speaker 7 (41:49):
It's a long, long road, right twenty nine and eighteen
on the year. Great start to things and then that
seven game winning streak, but otherwise a whole lot of inconsistency, chaos,
pitcher injuries. But Clayton Kershaw's back for the moment, so
that's good.
Speaker 4 (42:05):
Yeah. Yeah, prop strikeouts closer to three thousand.
Speaker 1 (42:09):
You think you think they could have waited a day
or two to let Austin Barnes catch him once before
they decided to move on.
Speaker 3 (42:14):
They could have done that.
Speaker 1 (42:15):
They could have said, hey, all right, a couple of games,
a couple of guys, well let's you say, one more game,
then you get used to things. Okay, Clayton, is something's
going now.
Speaker 4 (42:21):
They said it's a new world order. Let's go.
Speaker 1 (42:24):
This is this is how we do things in Cleveland. Now, Billy,
I don't know this is how we do it though.
So again, seven to nothing, Diamondbacks lead the Dodgers bottom
of the thirty and the Doctors can lose four in
a row after getting swept by the Angels.
Speaker 7 (42:38):
You seem a little too gleeful on that. I'm not
gonna lucky out there. He'd come and take you out.
Speaker 3 (42:44):
No, no, read.
Speaker 1 (42:44):
The only reason I'd be somewhat gleefles is because, well, okay,
this is gonna take the attention away. You look, the
Mets lost two out of three. Juan Soto's not hustling.
At least they take it away from that boy.
Speaker 4 (42:53):
The Dodgers looking like Frank Thomas in the shield.
Speaker 1 (42:57):
Now, yeah, that contract is coming back down for p Alonso.
Speaker 3 (43:00):
Was going up. Now it's coming back down, going up,
coming back down, going up.
Speaker 4 (43:03):
Pants have a way of working themselves out.
Speaker 8 (43:05):
How much did you pay the Rockies tonight, Smith, I, as.
Speaker 1 (43:09):
Far as you know, I did not pay them anything
because they were winning and now they're losing.
Speaker 4 (43:13):
So it was you.
Speaker 3 (43:15):
Yes, it backfired a lot, and now the Mets are
going to be out of first place. So thank you
very much. I appreciate that. Thank you. We're gonna be
trailing the Phillies.
Speaker 1 (43:21):
Now, the Phillies who lose one series to the Mets
and it's the end of the world. But yet somehow
they find their way back from the brink every single time,
which I gotta say that that's a that I do.
Speaker 3 (43:32):
I do appreciate that.
Speaker 1 (43:33):
From Philadelphia sports teams, no team goes from the season
is over.
Speaker 3 (43:38):
Everybody has quit.
Speaker 1 (43:40):
We need to fire everybody and then go on to
win things like the super Bowl or the National League East.
Better than Philadelphia, nobody goes from this is the worst.
And I mean, hey, Mets fans, certain teams, you live
up and down.
Speaker 3 (43:52):
Every night. It's a ay, it's either things or greater.
Speaker 1 (43:56):
Things are bad, right, but then usually the next day
things reset. With Philip Elfia teams, it's this is the
worst thing ever, and we need to disband. If we
didn't play another game, I'd be okay with it, right.
The Eagles were at that point, seemingly every three weeks.
They won the Super Bowl. Last year, Nick Siriotti got
paid right Philly, same way they got swept by the
Mets earlier this year, all kinds of problems, their best
(44:17):
relievers suspended eighty games for peds.
Speaker 3 (44:19):
Doesn't matter. Nope, we're gonna win.
Speaker 1 (44:21):
So I really a little bit of jealousy, but mainly
I kind of dig and I want to point out
that nobody comes back from the brink where everything is
awful and it looks like we may not play the
sport anymore, and now here they are winning like Philadelphia teams.
Speaker 7 (44:35):
They do that well well, I mean they are the
equivalent of eighties era hulk Mania. Not the guy everybody
hates now, but the guy that once upon a time
was hanging and banging and saying and you know, saying
your prayers, training and taking your vitamins and all of
that stuff. You know, you're on the ropes and then
all of a sudden you hulk out and all you know,
you get the leg drop and away you go. And
(44:55):
I mean, that's Philadelphia sports for you, much to your sugarn.
Speaker 2 (45:00):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (45:10):
Now TJ not the only Angels having a great weekend
or a bad weekend. The yin and yang for sports
Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese.
Speaker 3 (45:23):
First of all, I just want to say this. You
thought I was lying.
Speaker 1 (45:26):
You thought I was being a little bit too much
when I told you before the WNBA season began. You
thought last year the Caitlin Clark hate and this story
was gonna You thought, Okay, now things will things will
calm down a little bit. What I say, it's gonna
be last year on steroids. And already the Caitlin Clark
Angel Reese foul from the opening game of the WNBA
(45:47):
season for both teams on Saturday, where the Fever just
boat raced the Sky ninety three fifty eight. They look
like they should be on the same court with each other.
But the foul that Caitlin Clark committed on Angel reestlepping
a guaranteed basket has drawn so much scrutiny, and it's
the story in sports of the last forty eight hours.
Speaker 4 (46:08):
Now.
Speaker 1 (46:08):
There's a lot of angles to it as well. There's
the flagrant foul angle.
Speaker 3 (46:11):
There's the.
Speaker 1 (46:13):
Racist comments that have been thrown out there, allegedly that
the WNBA is looking into that. Some people on social
media said they heard some things said at the game
directed towards Angel Reese. But the best thing to do
with this is to start at the beginning, right, Let's
start at the beginning of this. This play, this foul
by Caitlyn Clark on Angel Reese. The play, Yes, it
(46:33):
is incredibly overblown by Angel Reese.
Speaker 3 (46:36):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (46:36):
And the reason why, now this is a little bit
different than stuff you've heard. The reason why is because
Caitlyn Clark lives rent free in Angel Reese's head, rent
free in Angel Reese's head. And here's a game where
you know, all of Angel Reese's career has been built
on her rivalry with Caitlin Clark. Everything has and generally
(46:58):
she has lost to Caitlin Clark everywhere. Yes, LSU won
and won the national championship in college, but Caitlyn Clark
was the better player in college. She is more talented,
she's a better player in the WNBA. She is more popular,
she is more relevant.
Speaker 3 (47:13):
She's the show. She's it.
Speaker 1 (47:15):
And it's not Angel Reese who still thinks that she
should be and kind of sort of is like, I'm
very popular to it, and Angel Reese is popular in
the Star.
Speaker 3 (47:24):
She's not Caitlin Clark.
Speaker 1 (47:25):
But this rivalry, this play stands for the rivalry because
it was a basketball play. It's not like Caitlyn Clark
went up around Angel Reese's neck and hit her in
the head. She didn't take out her legs from under her.
She just put her arms over her arms to stop
her from scoring. And Angel Rees tried to flop and
she fell down and was embarrassed so got up like
(47:47):
she wanted to fight Caitlyn Clark. Right, all of this
is coming to a head in this moment. Right, She's
embarrassed because she's getting worked by Caitlyn Clark and the fever.
And here's a play where Katelyn Clark is showing you
thought I was big, a look how strong I am.
Now I'll knock your ass to the ground, just trying
to make a normal play on the ball. So she
flops a little bit, she falls, she's embarrassed, she gets up,
(48:11):
and this whole thing becomes overblown because of that. But
this is because Caitlyn Clark lives rent free in Angel
Reese's head. She's asked about stuff. Now comments at Angel
Reese's mate. No, don't want to talk about it. Don't
want to talk about it. Hey, you said last year
you were as big a part. Nope, don't want to
talk about it. Hey, what about this play with Angelies No?
And with Kateln Clark. Nope, no, nope, don't talk about no. No,
no basketball play.
Speaker 3 (48:31):
Let's move on, right. Does anybody really think these two
are really cool with each other?
Speaker 1 (48:34):
Of course not. But Caitlyn Clark is the show. Angel
Reese is not. What happened in college is irrelevant. This
play stands for everything in the WNBA. Caitlyn Clark commits
a foul so Angel Reese won't get a basket. And oh,
by the way, a foul that she would have never
gotten last year, the flagrant that would have never been
if they that happened to Caitlyn Clark last year. There's
(48:57):
no way she's getting that flagrant fowl upgraded. So understand,
she commits a foul, which is ridiculous upgrade to a flagrant.
It's just dumb. The only way I can see is
because hey, the referees want to say, we may lose
control of the game.
Speaker 3 (49:09):
If we don't make it a flagrant. Nah, I'm sorry.
Speaker 1 (49:12):
It doesn't mean you make it a flagrant. That's not
a flagrant foul. If there was something, if Angel Reese's
health was at stake, which is what you look at
for flagrant fouls, right, Hey, was the health of this
player put at risk? Nowhere would that happen, not anywhere.
It's a basketball play. It shouldn't have been a flagrant foul.
But this is why, this is why this exists, because
this is Caitlyn Clark just is overwhelming to all the players,
(49:35):
but specifically Angel Reese, who thought, I'm coming in it's
me too.
Speaker 3 (49:38):
It's meat to me. It's me Now it's not really.
Speaker 1 (49:41):
You're one of the stars, and Asia Wilson is a
big star, and pretty Anna Stewart, it's a big star.
Speaker 3 (49:45):
It's all big stars. Kaitlyn Clark is the show.
Speaker 1 (49:47):
And I don't know how many times I gotta say it,
I'm sorry, but that's the way it goes.
Speaker 3 (49:51):
And so to see that, to see.
Speaker 1 (49:53):
Why this happened, why this play unfolded the way it did,
that's the only reason why.
Speaker 3 (49:57):
Because of that that aura of Caitlyn Clark that.
Speaker 1 (49:59):
Robably probably Liz rent Free in a lot of players
heads because the jealousy level is still there for her
coming in and getting all these things for the w
NBA and making money.
Speaker 3 (50:08):
Okay, wait, an, where's mine? Where's mine?
Speaker 1 (50:10):
Sorry, it's not how it works, right, So this is
this is why it happened the way it did and
why it unfolded. It was their relationship and and the
situation that exists between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese.
Speaker 3 (50:20):
In one play on Saturday, Yeah, I.
Speaker 7 (50:22):
Just got to chuckle watching, you know, prepping for the show.
I did the Fox Sports Sunday with Dan Bayer yesterday,
and you know, obviously it's raging and you're watching the
you know, the hot take starting to flow through X
and the other media, and I just kind of chuckle,
and it's like, tell me, you haven't watched but the
four second clip. Without telling me you haven't watched anything
(50:43):
but the four second clip. Nobody except maybe me is
bringing up the fact that Angel Reese basically ed Reid's
Natasha Howard under the baskets right before that happens, right, So,
so she forearmed Shivizer two hands to the back of
the high back towards the neck and Caitlyn Clark gestures
(51:04):
to the referee like what the and then gets the ball.
So Clark comes over, goes low right, not up around
the head and neck. Plenty of video from last year
where Angel Reese does a full on swing to Clark's
neck as she goes to the basket, but goes down low.
And yes there's a reverse angle where maybe there's a
little extra shove, so okay, fine, upgrade it to a flagrant.
(51:25):
Fine it fuels a fire or whatever, But you know
there's a bit of flopping there. The excitement. I would
have loved to see a Leah Boston just stand back
and let the two have at it.
Speaker 4 (51:36):
That would have been fun.
Speaker 7 (51:37):
Or go and maybe take Caitlin Clark away from it
because she turned all right, file hand up, move away.
But the front part of that play has not been
added to any of this. That was Caitlyn Clark sticking
up for a teammate, right for all the stuff that
we've heard, you know throughout the offseason, right, she got
jacked a bit, right, spending time in the weight room.
(52:00):
You see the play on the court, and for Angel
resent give her credit, like as a whole. Right, she's
still gonna be one of the best rebounders and there's
a long way to finish up and clean up a
lot of the rest of him. But it looked like
she was in the gym as well in terms of
her ball handling or whatever. Watching that game it was,
but that kept me captivated. I'll tell you what. Once
(52:21):
it got to a thirty point burial between Okace and Denver,
guess what I was doing. I was catching up on
Seth Rogan's show, right like, I'm done with this. I'll
see what the final score is and whether any of
the parlays and crazy things.
Speaker 4 (52:36):
That were going on odds wise hit.
Speaker 7 (52:38):
But for this, like this was her being a good
teammate that hasn't been talked about nearly enough of picking
up for her team. It's not Caitlin and you know,
a bunch of merriment. They went and people wanted to
come in, and there was a great SI article about it.
People wanted to come play in Indiana because of who
she is and what she's about in terms of team basketball.
(53:01):
And that play was started by the fact that she
was sticking up for a teammate.
Speaker 3 (53:07):
Yes, and all that, all of.
Speaker 1 (53:09):
It right, But but do anything with Angel Reese and
Caitlyn Clark, and it's and it's and it's and it's
really it's really something to watch this unfold. But it
doesn't get it doesn't get to this this level unless
something like that is the case. And really, I think
look is with everybody in the WNBA probably tired of
here in Katelyn Clark.
Speaker 4 (53:29):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (53:29):
I can't believe it because I'm like, all of a sudden,
our lives are better.
Speaker 3 (53:32):
The league has made it right. No, no, no, no, no.
Speaker 1 (53:35):
I guarantee you if you asked the w NBA the players,
at least a third of them would say, what we
want is to be as popular as we are now
and Caitlin Clark to not be in the league.
Speaker 3 (53:45):
I guarantee you that's what we want.
Speaker 1 (53:47):
Kate, Well, sorry, you can't have that because you need
Katelyn Clark because she's the show. No, but I g
at least a third of the league they would say
that's what they want. We want to be as partners
we are, but I want her. God, there's the only
reason why they're on national teams. Caitlyn Clardy, I'm sorry,
this is how it goes right. Caitlin Clark is magic,
and Larry rolled into one. We said this a year ago,
it's happening, but boy is this fun. It's I'll tell
(54:10):
you this opening weekend. Baby, let's go
