Speaker 2 (00:22):
Ever you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah, fine. Whatever.
Speaker 4 (00:34):
You beat the defending champs, that counts for something.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
Whatever.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
Yeah, we'll hang a banner on that beat the champs
from a year ago, then lost in the finals after
losing the worst game in the history of the NBA
that no team has ever blown a lead like that.
Speaker 4 (00:52):
Well, but I mean that was record setting. It was
at fourteen fourteen.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
Fourteen hundred and fourteen wins and no losses until But
you made history.
Speaker 4 (01:01):
I'm telling you, man, Sometimes you know that's great you
left the mark.
Speaker 3 (01:05):
Like today, I just was telling you.
Speaker 4 (01:07):
It's the fifteenth anniversary of Jim Joyce screwing up the
perfect game fifteen fifteen years ago.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
Him and Galaad. Why am I fat?
Speaker 5 (01:15):
I know why?
Speaker 1 (01:15):
My phone's ringing? Okay, yeah, yes, I know I screwed
it up. I'm sorry. We've made up. We're fine now, Okay, great.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
Click.
Speaker 4 (01:23):
I feel better about it because you know, we can
talk about that as opposed to I don't know, Kerry
Carpenter hitting three home runs in a thirteen to one
shellacking of the White Sox today.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
Why don't you have your phone with you today, Jim,
because it's just going and I don't want to answer it. Okay,
it's what's gonna happen, all right, but you have to
nix in the finals. I you know, hey, I'm telling
you it happened that. There's part of me. There's losses
that that stay with me in my life, and this
is the first one that I've had in probably i
don't know, almost twenty years where I'm like, this loss,
(01:54):
I'm never gonna get.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
Oh Met's World Series.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
Uh yeah, but that's just it wasn't one game like
I'm thinking one game that just like, but that one
get that game one of that Eastern car.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
I'm never gonna get over that ball still balancing.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
I'm never gonna get over that. I'm just not I'm
never gonna get over it because I've just got to be.
I just have to deal with it as a sports fan.
I have to understand this is now part of my DNA.
This is how this is kind of how it's gonna go.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
Now.
Speaker 4 (02:19):
I did have one of our guys that that interacts
with me on Instagram with the show uh Nester, He asked,
since that's now part of your DNA, does that mean
you eventually morph into a Pacers fan.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
No, eventually, I just start choking myself. That's what I do.
Speaker 6 (02:38):
Oh Okay, if you're gonna promos.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
Yeah sure, yeah yeah, Be and Pat and John Mellencamp
all three of us made Michael Cole wear a uh
Pacers jersey tonight on Raw. So I mean, yeah, we're
gonna sing pink Houses and we're gonna cut a promo.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
That's what's gonna happen. Nice, man, that sounds gonna work. Nice.
Speaker 4 (02:56):
There you go about a little Jack and Dian You
got a couple of bars that and.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
You know, you know until John Mellowtown, you know, back
when the song came out, I said, you know, here's
the thing. If you don't have the claps, you lose
the song. Right, It's only if you didn't have them.
Have people clap and there's no song, and he said,
you know you're right, so they kept the clapping in.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
That's how you really had me going to a whole
other teenage.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
Clap with an S lap. I said, claps with an
s avoid the clap. Jimmy dout very different, good advice.
Here's a little song how to avoid.
Speaker 5 (03:31):
TJ.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
Clearly everyone needs a hand to hold on to, so
today that helps.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
What do I always say?
Speaker 1 (03:39):
You know, there's very few things in my life that
I can say, Okay, this is a tenant. This is
a piece of advice that will exist from the beginning
of time till the end of time. Had never changed, right,
Because things alter over the course of time. You adapt
to things. That's why you never say never. I understand,
I understand. But there's one piece of advice. If I
know anything over the past your two decades doing sports
(04:01):
talk radio, I would say it's this. Whenever a parent
or a family member gets involved in an athlete's business,
it is never good.
Speaker 3 (04:11):
Never.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
And I don't mean just they're active or they're like,
look like Mamma Kelsey got okay, great, But whenever someone
wants to get involved in their significant other or family
member's career. It never goes well. I don't know how
people still get to that. It never goes well. No
matter who your dad is, no matter who your significant
other is, it never goes your dad is Deon Sanders,
(04:34):
it never goes well. Today, Dion Sanders decided to weigh
in on the various draft reports that happened leading up
to the NFL Draft, in which we watch you Door
Sanders drop to the fifth round where he's in Brown's
camp right now trying to win a job, potentially maybe
winning the starting job.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
We had heard reports all.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
Throughout the draft process that your Door Sanders may be
tanked interviews because there were teams he didn't want to
go to. Deon Sanders had said, there's few teams I
don't want him to go to. We heard a lot
of reports from different teams saying that, yeah, he wasn't
really into the meeting. You know, he got really contentious
when when when At times where we challenged him on things,
it looked like he wasn't really interested or unplugged at times.
(05:14):
We heard all these reports about Shador Sanders leading up
to the.
Speaker 4 (05:18):
Draft wearing headphones and one which is really the most
curious of all.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
But yeah, so Dion today goes on the Say What
Needs to Be Said podcast, which is hosted by former
NFL cornerback of Sante Samuel, and again, when parents or
significant others get involved, it is never a good thing. Here,
he was deciding he was going to go on and
talk about the process and what happened and defend his
(05:43):
son with all the things he was accused. How he
was accused of behaving in the pre draft process.
Speaker 7 (05:49):
I know it was a lot of rumors about the
next level. I can't see that. Yeah, I can see
the next leven. I think a couple of people who
may have taken shots to my kids. They were afraid
that I would go. That's where the shots came for.
All you gotta do is just sit back and listen. Anyope,
don't want to do that. They want to create these
narratives and create these stories and then attach them to
(06:09):
a kid that ain't never done nothing wrong.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
Yeah, how does that make you feel when you see
your cops are.
Speaker 7 (06:15):
Going in on you?
Speaker 8 (06:16):
Man?
Speaker 3 (06:16):
Like, how does that make you feel?
Speaker 7 (06:18):
Man? You have no idea. We've always been in front
of the camera, so they know how to navigate. They
know how to handle themselves, and you're not gonna catch
them in no fool red and no no mess. You're
not when you sit up there and say something like,
he went in a meeting unprepared, like dude, your door
saying us, who's had six different coordinators? Who has still
(06:40):
function and went up, leveled up every time we brought
somebody new end And you're gonna.
Speaker 3 (06:45):
Tell me every situation.
Speaker 7 (06:47):
You're gonna tell me he had on headphone to you,
a dog, your kids a dog, and dogs gon'na always
rise to the top, you know what I mean.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
That's what I believe. You know what I mean talking about.
Speaker 5 (06:56):
It did hurt.
Speaker 7 (06:57):
The Bible says God uses the foolish things to confess
on the ways. So it was some foolish stuff that
went on, But you know what that that gave them
something that they needed.
Speaker 6 (07:07):
All right.
Speaker 1 (07:08):
Now, First of all, you know Dion's here is when
his face gets really close to the camera, which is
what happened in the middle of that down I'm getting
really close. Look at WWE promo who are you man?
Who are you good?
Speaker 7 (07:18):
Bro?
Speaker 1 (07:19):
So here here's the thing, first of all, before we
get to the really big thing of why Deon should
have just kept his mouth shut.
Speaker 3 (07:25):
Right.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
Number one is that Okay, all these stories have been
out there, nothing had really been questioned. There was never
any wait a minute, wait a minute, this never happened.
We would have heard stories like that. If Shador Sanders
really didn't tick some teams off, or teams weren't really
they were making up that they were upset with it,
we would have found out by now, we would have
(07:46):
found it would have been a whole thing going Deon's
the first guy that's not going to be quiet if
that wait, something's happening to my kid. But he picks
now to do it right, I'm gonna do it now
after it's all said and done again. If that really
was going on, we would have heard it. Teams aren't
gonna make stuff up. They're not gonna make stuff up
about players. They don't want your door stands. Obviously there's
a team that drafted them, right, so they wanted them.
(08:07):
The teams teams would want Shador Sanders. Jesus see, you
don't sit here and go out. We want this guy.
We don't want to take him. If he was really
good enough, they would have drafted him. But when you're
when you're a borderline prospect and all of a sudden,
preemptively you are coming out and saying, there's teams I
don't want my kid to go to.
Speaker 3 (08:23):
It's okay, we can move on to other prospects. Right.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
You have, you have, You have done your part to
push us away from Shador Sanders. Which is why I
say in the beginning, it's never good when you want
to get involved with your child's or your significant other's career.
It's never good. Because Deion Sanders did all he could
to help push teams away from Shadoor Sanders. Now, Shauduur
Sanders was the unbelievable prospect that we thought he was
(08:46):
going to be, that all teams thought he was. They
would have found a way around this. The right team
would have drafted him in the first arm. They would
have maneuvered it up to goa hey, this is where
we want to go. But instead everybody passed on him
for five rounds five rounds. So you know, going into
it all this knuckle headed stuff, Dion thought, oh, I
got the big prize here in the NFL draft, I
can do and say whatever I want to. No, you
overplayed your hand. Right if he was that good, he
(09:09):
would have been drafted or they would have found a
way around it. But now you helped ruin it because
you put out this optic that if we draft him,
we're drafting his dad too. Are we a team he
doesn't want? Why are we getting in on this when
there's many other prospects, middling prospects that could be good,
could be bad, that we could go get that don't
have this attached to them, And that's why teams backed
(09:30):
away from Sugar Stands. So congratulations Deon Sanders. You did
your part to make sure that your son fell through
the draft.
Speaker 4 (09:36):
Well, we talked about it a lot during the process
of it doesn't take the whole swing. You might have
eight people in the room right that are going through
whatever the whiteboard work is, whatever terminology, all of those things,
and just meeting him coming into the building probably a
lot more than that. But just say we can find
(09:56):
it to a room of eight to ten people. It
only takes the decision maker to decide that something rubs
them the wrong way of how you approached it, And
it doesn't mean that they're necessarily right, but if they're
the decision maker, there's the decision maker and guess what
everybody talks, right, what's the running joke going on with
the combine?
Speaker 3 (10:17):
Everybody meet at Saint Elmo and.
Speaker 4 (10:18):
You exchange all your your stories over some grog and
some shrimp cocktail.
Speaker 3 (10:24):
That's what you do. What I would be asking, you know.
Speaker 4 (10:27):
The response to to Dion, because he made sure to
point it out here, is he went through six offensive coordinators?
Why do you go through six offensive coordinators? There was
a question we asked where they were bouncing you guys
around the head coach that hired and fired all these
offensive coordinators. Okay, but was that a question that that
Shador had to answer during the process, Because I'm sure
as he'll be interested in that response.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
Why'd you guys keep cycling through guys?
Speaker 4 (10:51):
If everything was working and the offense was clicking, which
it was oftentimes, right, gaudy numbers was easy to blame
offensive line and lack of depth based on the move
and recruiting and everything else. But it's a question I
think needs to be asked in the grander scale of this.
But certainly I understand why he's talking.
Speaker 1 (11:13):
Now.
Speaker 4 (11:14):
We're starting to ramp up towards football, right, We've been
talking about the expansion of the playoffs. We're getting into
the next iteration because spring games or whatever was left
to them or long in the rear view mirror, and
we're gonna start getting to camp. So, yeah, you want
his thoughts on some things. And until this is put
to bed, which you know what, it'll never be put
(11:34):
to bed because it's always gonna be speculation until teams
come out and say, yeah, I was the guy that
put the downgrade on him for this, that or the other,
which is never gonna happen.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
No, But here's the thing, and this is why, this
is why Deon Sanders need is to just shut up
and stay out of this. Right, what if I say
about your door centers, be about football? Right, be about football?
Win the job you'll be. If you're about football and
you're really good, you will get into this fall and
by October you'll be the starting quarterback the Browns. But
be about football. All Dion's done is bring this up.
And now what's gonna happen. Stories are gonna get out
(12:06):
where teams are gonna want to defend themselves and they're
gonna bring up all of the unnamed team Shador Sanders did this,
and now Shador Sanders has to deal with all the
knuckle headed stuff that I'm falling the ground and draft
in the first place. So all he's done is dredge
this story up again, which is doing him no favorite
last favor.
Speaker 4 (12:23):
Right, we had to talk about the you're never gonna
outrun the internet.
Speaker 5 (12:27):
Right.
Speaker 4 (12:27):
If someone decides you bought a five hundred thousand dollars car,
you're gonna have to prove out of your bank accounts
and anything you might have in a Swiss bank.
Speaker 5 (12:35):
I don't.
Speaker 1 (12:36):
I didn't move any money to buy a car, and
even if I did, we had the money.
Speaker 4 (12:40):
And like, if it's anything like what Cooper Flagg allegedly
made near the thirty million dollars at Duke, I mean,
Chador has the five hundred k to buy a car
if he wants to buy a damn car, leave them alone.
But he's saying all the right things. This dredges it
back up and becomes this festering piece. You're never gonna
out out chase guys looking for colt out.
Speaker 3 (13:00):
On the interwhips.
Speaker 4 (13:01):
That's you know that that is going to keep happening.
The biggest and most adult in all of this was
Brian dable because he was asked all that stuff about
that what happened allegedly with the Giants a while ago.
He goes, it's done. Draft is done. We enjoyed talking
to Schador moving on.
Speaker 1 (13:16):
I'm telling you, man, all Dion did was helped make
it more difficult for Shador standers to get rid of
this and just focus on football. Congrats to the odd
you did it. Exit out about a Fresco exit swollen dome.

(14:18):
the knob off. Guy ripping the knob off right now
with travel because he is on his way here to
Los Angeles for the MLB Network Showcase Game of the Week,
which is Wednesday night Mets and the Dodgers. It is
MLB Network Insider Extraordinary, John Paulmrosi, John Paul, what's happening man?
Speaker 3 (14:36):
How are you?
Speaker 5 (14:37):
I am outstanding, my friends. What a great time of
year for sports. NBA Finals coming up, Stanley Cup Final
coming up, and as you mentioned, I am headed out
to LA. We've got the MLB Network Showcase Wednesday evening
at Dodger Stadium, Mets and Dodgers. It could be could
be an NLCS previews for the second straight year. But
(14:58):
I'm still waiting to see as we can talked about
the potential story lines today. Still waiting to see Juan
Soto get really going for the Mets. That's I know
they're leading tonight, But still waiting to see Sodo lock
in here during his debut season in Flushing.
Speaker 1 (15:12):
Queech, It's gonna be November, and I'm gonna be saying,
just wait any.
Speaker 3 (15:16):
Day now, any day, any day, look for soda.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
Look, I honestly think this is what it is, John
Paul is that clearly, he cares. Clearly, he's having fun.
He likes being there. You know, you can't fake that.
Those those reports that came out a month ago. Look,
it's weird, the Yankees obsession with the Mets and Juan Soto,
but hey, it's like being obsessed with your ex.
Speaker 3 (15:34):
But I think he just has to.
Speaker 1 (15:36):
He's such a he's such a player, he hears everything
that's said around him. Fan reaction can get to him
at times where he just has to understand that, Okay,
I'm not Oh my goodness, everybody loves Juan Soto because
we could all get him when he becomes a free agent.
Now it's okay, twenty nine teams hate him and one
team's fan base loves him. And that's he got to
get used to that new norm that with that money
(15:57):
comes all sorts of expectations and people who want to
see you fail. And I think once he comes around
to that I think, then he's going to be fine.
He's too good a player to have that not happened.
But hey, this is not how I was treated. This
is not how my first six years major league baseball went.
And I got to understand now that people don't like me,
and that's just kind of how it's going to go.
Speaker 5 (16:14):
It's a shock to the system. And you look over
the course of baseball history, many of the biggest deals
that have been signed, there has been a little bit
of a blip. Now, it doesn't always have to be
a long one, maybe not even as long as what
Sodo's going through, but in some cases it takes a
long time. I think back to Albert Pooles's first deal
(16:39):
with the Angels, and certainly he was older then than
Soto is now. But there often is some element of
turbulence when you have a large contract, especially one that
is of this magnitude. I still believe, over the fullnest
of time, this will end up being the right player
for the right team. I didn't say that the Mets
(17:01):
are going to get every last dollar out of the deal,
because I just don't think it's realistic. He clearly adds
to the team, even right now, even when he's not
at his peak, he's still one of the top ten
right fielders, the least in Major League Baseball. You would
ideally like the Barnaby event higher than that for what
you're paying him. But he's still an above average player.
(17:22):
He is still a productive player because he knows the
strike zone so well. But I do think that you're
exactly right. It is a major shift in how you're
perceiving the sport, yourself, fans, every city you go to
that you are on the road a villain and at
home you've got to produce. There's just not that same
(17:46):
level of freedom and flexibility that he would have found
just a year ago with the Yankees.
Speaker 4 (17:51):
So as we get June under way, JP coming off
a huge series two out of three for the Dodgers
against the Yankees, what do we make of it? Other
then boy, I really hope there's some other pictures available
come October.
Speaker 5 (18:03):
Well that's it for the Dodgers. And you're exactly right.
I was talking this morning on MLB Network that a
team like the Rangers with Tyler Mallley and Patrick Corbyn
could be a good fit potential trade partner for the Dodgers.
It doesn't sound like things are progressing for Glass now.
Gonsolin's going to be on the mound for our game
on Wednesday, and he's been a little bit up and down.
(18:27):
I just don't know if you were to try to
figure out a first round series for the Dodgers with
only with existing healthy pictures, and that's really all you
can definitely count on are the guys that are healthy
right now, you probably wouldn't love your chances in a
division series with that particular group of guys just because
(18:49):
there's not enough reliability among that group, and they have
to probably focus on bringing in next year's version or
this year's version of what they had in Jack flirty
last year, because the existing cast is probably not going
to be good enough, to be honest with you. But
unless they get back some healthy arms, and unless they
bring in somebody from the outside, I just I'm not
(19:11):
seeing enough rotation depth to carry them through three rounds
or potentially four rounds of the postseason. Good rotation not
a great one. And the National League right now is
a very competitive league, with teams like the Mets, like
the Cubs, even like the Giants of the Podreys that
might be one or two players away from being a
(19:32):
big time threat, along with the Philadelphia Phillies, who I
believe are still one of the very best teams in
all Major League Baseball.
Speaker 1 (19:40):
Now, hang on a second, John Paul, Kershaw's back, Kofax, Drysdale, Sutton,
the Dodgers till it and those guys haven't had a
lot of innings, you know, you know, Kofax looks like
he can still sling it a little bit.
Speaker 5 (19:52):
They're fresh, They're fresh. No, you're right, and listen, I
think Kershaw there's probably a fast question, right that you
bring up the name Kershaw. Do the Dodgers feel like
right now that he is going to start a playoff
game for them? Now, there's no way to know that
the answer to that question, there's no way to project
(20:14):
a head other than to say the way that they
proceeded when the season began certainly suggested that Kershaw starting
a game in the postseason would be more of a
bonus and an expectation, because they had glassed out, they
had Snell, they had Sasaki, they had Yamamoto, there were
the and by the way, there's someone by the name
of Otani who they expect well at some point in time,
(20:37):
be starting games for them in the second half, So
they have in my estimation, planned as if Kershaw is
not going to start games in the postseason. If he
pitches well enough to deserve it, that's fine, but that
does not seem to be what they have planned on
all along the season.
Speaker 4 (20:54):
JP as we enter again, it's only June second, but
we're already having a floor of call ups across the league.
Cole Young great video of him getting called up by Seattle. Uh,
Caglione getting called up by the Royals, mayor already called
up a little bit earlier than we usually see these
hot prospects.
Speaker 5 (21:14):
We are, and I think part of it with the Royals.
Let's take Jack Kaglen And by the way, let's hope
that I have a chance to interview the Pope later
on this month, and if I do, I'm gonna definitely
ask him if we should bring back to the States
the idea that it should be Lean and not Cagliano.
It's a beautiful name, no matter what. A big fan
(21:35):
of Jack and everything he brings to the game, But
doesn't it sound a little better gleanone, Yeah, give it the.
Speaker 3 (21:42):
Extra you know, and you have to do things with
your hands when you say it.
Speaker 5 (21:46):
Yeah, do you realize as I was saying the name,
I was actually moving. I was gestured with my hand,
say do it at home right now, if you're not
driving the car, Leanon, Goleanon. That's that's the man name.
So anyways you can make it.
Speaker 3 (22:02):
Happen that way, Just start saying it that way. No
matter what, you can make it happen.
Speaker 5 (22:06):
Yeah, yuck, I mean it just it just sounds so good. Anyhow,
he has done an admirable job of learning right field
in the minor leagues to where the Royals, after scoring
one run in their last two games against the Tigers,
realized they had to make a big time upgrade of
their lineup. I think in the case of Galliana, he
(22:28):
will certainly do that. For those who haven't seen him,
big time power he was. He was a two way
player at Florida, almost Otani like at the college baseball level,
big time tools, but his his calling card is power.
The Royals need it, and do not be surprised if
he ends up leading them to the postseason. And similarly
to your point, Cole Young with Seattle Meyer with the
(22:50):
Red Sox, I think there's a lot of teams that
are close to being, if not World Series contenders, at
least Playoff contenders, and they realize that rather than spending
a prospect to bring a veteran player, you might as
well just use the prospect, bring the prospect up. And
having played for you the Red Sox in particular, they
(23:10):
are just not playing well right now. And I think
of the different situations where we're referencing the Red Sox,
Meyers seem to be a bit more more dire than
the others because they're just not playing good baseball right now.
There's a lot of pressure on them to call up
Roman Anthony as well. I just I think in general
that Boston has just not shown that they're going to
(23:30):
be able to compete at the top of what is
even a fairly by the AL standards mediocre year in
this division, and the Red Sox are falling short of
that standard.
Speaker 1 (23:41):
Now, I'm glad you brought this up, John Paul Morosi,
where that's your MLB network. You know, last week you
told us you had received correspondence from the Vatican about
getting your interview with Pope Leo, and you said, okay,
So now then they have passed it on to next steps,
And now here's a week has gone by, and now
what are the next steps? Where are you at right now?
Like do you have to pass an interview with the
(24:02):
College of Cardinals? How do you actually get to the
fult of the interview?
Speaker 5 (24:06):
So here's I'm glad you asked. Here's where we stand.
And anybody that has ever entered in to get tickets
to Disney or entered in tickets for a concert or
a lottery for World Cup tickets, what I can say
to you right now is I am in the system.
(24:28):
I am in the system. And so but here's what
I mean by that. I was I was sent a
lovely email which was largely in English, and then I
went to the website that was linked to it, and
that website was entirely in Italian, which was beautiful. And
I was basically invited to apply for credentials, and so
(24:49):
I now have a media credential portal. It was It
was hilarious because I was looking at the names of
the publications and so like there was a drop down
menu and I'm scrolling down. It was like what what
paper do you write for? It was like like La
Tribuna is the Ario New York Times Financial Times wall
(25:14):
for your journal like.
Speaker 4 (25:15):
No, no, no, no, no no.
Speaker 5 (25:17):
So I had to go all the way to the bottom.
And you know what you know when I checked al three,
all three meaning the others because stunningly, MLB Network was
not part of the Vatican's dropdown menu as your employer is.
So I had to apply. I had to type out
I worked for Major League Baseball Network. What I'm what
(25:39):
I'm a I'm a commentator. So this is the coolest part.
If I can pull back the curtain, I now have
to basically look at I've been told this Like basically, John,
you will be given an advisory of of what the
Pope's schedule is during the the aforementioned applying for and
(25:59):
you will then be ability to apply for discreet moments
in time where you'd be allowed into the Vatican to
cover the Pope. Now, this is a long way away,
long way away from saying Holy Father. I spoke recently
with my friend Mike Harmon and Fox Sports Radio, and
he wants to know what are we going to do
about left field for the White Sox next season. That's
(26:20):
not that's not gonna be the first question I ask,
But we'll see, we'll see if am I just part
of the great mass as if as you're you're watching
the White House Press briefing room, but it's it's the
Holy Father and it's me raising my hand asking a
question about baseball. I guess we're gonna find out, and
I'm just gonna have to keep applying until they let
(26:42):
me in the door. I don't know. It's I'm studying
all of the Vatican terminology and Italian courtesies to remind
myself of what I'm supposed to say. Uh, just do
my best and if I get the if I get
the opportunity, I hope to be able to project my
voice and at least, you know, we know that we
can speak Midwestern English to each other, which is I
(27:04):
suppose one one uh one blessing on my on my side,
and we'll see how we do.
Speaker 3 (27:09):
See if he goes full south side east. Yeah, I
was wondering.
Speaker 4 (27:12):
It seems a little more straightforward a process though for
you JP, I thought it was going to be like
a full trivia contest like in the movie Diner to
see whether you get to the uh get to the
next stage.
Speaker 5 (27:23):
Right. There was there was no trivia. I did not
have to basically receive like an embossed letter with the
with the Vatican keys stamped on it. Uh as as in,
if anybody that had watched the movie Vatican, you see
the keys everywhere. But but I the email I received
had the key end moment. It was actually pretty cool,
(27:44):
actually the uh the you know, I received a lot
of emails from New York Yankees Media Relations, Los Angeles
Dodgs media Relations. This one, actually, the one I received
today said the the media room of the Holy See.
That's exactly what it said to me with with the
keys on it. Gentil, John Paul Morosi last led I minuto,
(28:08):
we have given you a welcome. That's that's what it says.
So I don't know, guys. I mean, I'm trying not
to get my hope stuf too much, but as as
I would hope the Holy follow would appreciate staying humble,
do my work every day, trying to put some gratitude
and grace out into the world and hope that it
comes back to me.
Speaker 1 (28:24):
And just wait and see Pope Leo walk out on
the balcony and John Paul next in with the MLB
network microphone.
Speaker 3 (28:29):
Thank you, Hi, I'm here.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
With the.
Speaker 5 (28:33):
I'll say, hey, we we actually have a ballpark cam
set up for you. Uh Holy Father, would you please
put on this headset? And uh and and and and
direct your commentary back to our studios in Secaucus, New Jersey.
Speaker 3 (28:46):
How about that?
Speaker 1 (28:47):
You got to make sure the headset fits around the
big pope hat like it's got to.
Speaker 5 (28:50):
Be a big That's that's that's our next step.
Speaker 3 (28:58):
He's on Twitter at John Morosi. That has had John
Morosi and check him out.
Speaker 1 (29:02):
Don't forget the showcase game of the Week on MLB
Network Mets Dodgers, John Paul be here for that. Uh,
take it easy, enjoy, I have your time, have a
good time. Here is the metsweep the Dodgers.

there you go getting international. That was from summer school.
That was Mark Hostiluego, Placito, Domingo.
Speaker 7 (29:39):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (29:40):
Time now to find out what's trending. In the wide
world of sports. But guy's been called the Pope Leo
of Fox Sports Radio. Getting to him for an interview
is also very difficult. It's Steve the Sager, not a
White Sox fan.
Speaker 7 (29:52):
What dare you?
Speaker 3 (29:53):
Mets?
Speaker 6 (29:54):
They're leading at Dodger Stadium to nothing top of the
six Can I just say it should be more? But
yet again the worst rule in Major League Baseball rears
its ugly head, the ground rule double, costing the Mets
a run. Even the catcher running would have scored from
first ball. Even me running and I don't run, I
would have scored. So once again, let's penalize the offense
(30:14):
for hitting the ball. Well, Mets are leading to nothing
in LA in the sixth. There are two other late games.
The Twins scored six times in the top of the second.
Their lead now is six' four at The a's going

Nothing it looked like it could have been, worse but
then it looked like The dodgers could have gotten back

However Shoho tani grounds out to second in the, inning
So mets still lead it to. Nothing in the top
of the, sixth ground rule double or, obstruction which is? Worse, Noo,
(32:30):
yeah ground rule? Double that's.
Speaker 3 (32:31):
Worse? Yeah is that only because it screwed your? Team just?
Speaker 1 (32:34):
Now, yes if it was, obstruction then that would have
been that would have been. Rough, okay as long as
as long as we make sure we set.
Speaker 7 (32:41):

Speaker 1 (33:00):
Radio The Jason Smith show with my best Friend Mike.
Harmon we'll get to a big story out of THE
nfl coming up in about fifteen. Minutes all of a,
sudden there's a BIG nfl Star i'm really concerned for after.
Today but WHEN i saw this story over the, WEEKEND i, said, oh,
MAN i, ah listen to.
Speaker 3 (33:17):
Me listen to, Me listen to. Me hear me now
and believe me, later but listen to me.
Speaker 1 (33:21):
Soon Steph curry did an interview WITH cnbc Early monday,
morning and you, know just talked about his career and
ever this normal, interview and then was asked the very
end if he would potentially want to pursue a broadcast,
career and he, said, quote, oh for. Sure i've seen
guys that have give, its that have give through. IT
(33:44):
a lot OF xnba guys in the. Booth, now whether
it's commentating in. Studio draymond's got his path set, up he,
said BUT i want to be patient about. IT i
think and about what the right opportunity would be for,
me because anything THAT i, DO i want to be
all in on.
Speaker 3 (33:56):
It so it's a good.
Speaker 1 (33:57):
Thing Steph curry looking to potentially get into broad casting
after his career is.
Speaker 3 (34:01):
Over, now let me just say.
Speaker 1 (34:04):
This is he gonna chew his mouthpiece while he? Doesn't,
yeah the first, no number one. Thing if you do,
That i'm Gonna i'm there's television is gonna break across the. Country,
yeah but he would make you know that it was
a tense. Moment you can't just chew your mouthpiece when
someone else is saying something you disagree. With although that
would kind of be interesting if suddenly A draymond Or
shack is saying something to cut To.
Speaker 3 (34:21):
Steph he's he's just gnawing on his. Mouthpiece, yeah, yeah, yeah,
yeah it would be.
Speaker 1 (34:26):
INTERESTING i would look, away and then it would have
you tell me when when Is Steph curry not chewing
on his? Mouthpiece and THEN i would look. Back you
would zoom. In, no you can, NO i can't stand.
THAT i can't stand. That and why they keep showing
him when he's chewing his, Mouthpiece like is that an?
Speaker 3 (34:39):
Interest not?
Speaker 1 (34:39):
Interesting it's like why you don't show people brushing your
teeth on. Television it's not. Interesting it's, discussed sure it. Is,
no it's not no part of the human.
Speaker 3 (34:46):
Experience it's not.
Speaker 1 (34:47):
Stuff certain stuff you should do behind closed. Doors brushing
your teeth is one of. Them and WATCH nix games and.
Speaker 3 (34:52):
What, yeah, yeah, yeah that's.
Speaker 4 (34:54):
True yeah you, don't, dude that's like going into the
old theaters And Times square Watching knicks.
Speaker 3 (34:59):
Games but he's talking About. Steph you can't.
Speaker 1 (35:01):
Check you're not supposed to be. Here can't just cheer
your mouth. Peach you gotta say something about this. Now
it doesn't matter if you. Know but here's the, Thing Steph,
curry rethink. This rethink. This you are too nice FOR nba.
Television you are NOT nba the. Network you are too.
Nice you have too good of a. Reputation and you
(35:21):
see what it's.
Speaker 3 (35:22):
Like when you go ON. Nba guys are, hot take.
Machines that's all they do right.
Speaker 1 (35:27):
THERE nba athletes that have come on in the last
ten to fifteen years of all, that everybody is now
bored of the. Agent, WELL i gotta say hot, take
AND i gotta say really incendiary, stuff AND i gotta
be a. KILLER i gotta be a killer and not be.
Upset IF i Call Tyre's halliburton over, rate he gets
mad at. Me IF i call this guy, THIS i
gotta be. Okay i'm having a feud with another ANOTHER nba.
(35:47):
INSIDER nba guys when they come on the they are.
Killers former athletes are. Killers they will take on. Anybody
they will bad mouth. Anybody they will say incredibly critical.
Things Steph curry's that. Guy he's just not that. GUY i,
mean he's A look you see the image in the,
end in the image Of Steph curry has, right what's
Gonna can you See Steph curry saying something Like Jalen,
(36:09):
brunson what are you?
Speaker 3 (36:10):
Doing that was? Terrible that was absolutely. Terrible but in
THE nba this is what cuts. Through we've seen, it
right in most, sports this is what cuts.
Speaker 1 (36:17):
Through but in THE nba especially because guys they love the. Rivalries,
man they take they take what they were. Playing they
just bring it back into this which.
Speaker 4 (36:24):
Is funny because you Are the criticism of TODAY'S nba
is these guys like each other too, much and really
it's not and they you could find about the quote
old head versus young guy and whatever. Else but, look
if he could pare get paired up With Draymond, Green
i'm all in because that's fifteen years of, institution that
knowledge to where all of a sudden he may just boil.
Speaker 8 (36:45):
Over but, yeah you remember what you did when you
checked that guy up in, practice he screwed three years
of my. Life three years Three i'm chewing on my mouth,
pieces had multiple titles now jacked Up Jordan. Bull, yeah
IF i thought that could, HAPPEN i would say, Great
but that's not Who steph.
Speaker 3 (37:00):
Is, right he throws them.
Speaker 1 (37:01):
Off he's not all of a sudden going to show
up and, say oh, yeah now this guy. Sucks Karl
Anthony towds is. Terrible he can't play.
Speaker 3 (37:09):
Defense he's. Terrible Steve kurt doesn't know what he's.
Speaker 1 (37:12):
Doing last five years of my career are running a
world like that's not who he, is, Right and WHEN
i say this is because.
Speaker 3 (37:17):
But maybe he's been under lock and key this whole.
Time wait for, it to wait for.
Speaker 1 (37:24):
It the comp is think About Tom brady right and
how much he struggled this. Year brady also has a great,
reputation a great image interest outside of. Broadcasting if you're
gonna come in here and you're gonna, succeed you gotta
SAY i don't have, friends AND i gotta go, out
AND i gotta come out and do the show and
say WHAT i want to. Say and what Does Tom
brady do this entire? Year watch what he, says watches
(37:46):
being Critical when before he got the gig and he
would do the odd podcast once in a while he
would say, Something, oh you think that Maybe Tom brady's
going to be able to be okay with putting blinders
on and saying critical things about, People but, no he.
Doesn't and he's too nervous about what to say and
and and what he wants to, say and the plays
he breaks. Down and because of, That brady had a
first year or it was, like, wow was really underwhelming
(38:08):
and he needs he needs to bring it in season?
Two Is Steph curry really gonna is the Same it's
the same, guy same, image, shame everybody loves. Him are
you gonna go on and say say things that are?
Controversial that are that are there that are one hundred
percent takes about people that maybe is not The there's
gonna be something to disagree with, you and people are
gonna get in your dms and say stuff to. You
Does Steph curry strike.
Speaker 3 (38:29):
You as that kind of?
Speaker 5 (38:30):
Guy he.
Speaker 3 (38:30):
Doesn't and and you see this because the world is
littered with incredible athletes that have gone on television to
be to be, analysts and in the end they disappear
after year and a half because it's, like, well you
really didn't light me up with stuff you have to.
Say it's, great you could tell.
Speaker 1 (38:43):
Stories that's, awesome tell stories to a, Podcast but when
you're ON tv and the big story is how so
and so played incredibly, poorly and you're afraid to say
something other than, well it's a tough night for. Him oh, no, no, no,
no that's not how it works in this. Business, man
we seen. IT i THINK i think THE NBA nba
Television Steph curry is too.
Speaker 4 (39:01):
NICE i think the difficult part of it would be
and the thing For brady this past, year for, me
would be the stuff he processed in milliseconds in his,
head everything that he sees like flash, points would take
two minutes to actually explain how he gets through that decision.
Maker and that was the analysis this, year, right all
(39:22):
the things he would see pre snapping into.
Speaker 3 (39:24):
It i'm, like all, right encapsulate that in fifteen.
Speaker 4 (39:26):
Seconds that just takes so many, reps, right so many,
Opportunities AND i guess that is the question for the
offseason that get cleaned. UP i would See Steph curry
probably is the same way the way he, operates the
way he flows in a. Game taking that to the
broadcast booth would be the same. Thing it's, like WELL
i saw this on a prior possession in this and,
(39:47):
no no right. There Matt gucas could say, That stan
Van gundy could say, that but that it'll be more
Of vanilla. Process why do you always go After Matt?
Speaker 3 (39:56):
Gukas what did he do about? YOU i like, Saying Matt,
gucas it should default go To. Gallup more on this
story and that big story out of THE. Nfl Next
fox
