Speaker 1 (00:58):
If you had Coastal Carol in the Men's College World
Series Final in baseball, Let's go, you had him in
the beginning. I got I got them going. The Channa
Clears are going all the way to clear. I heard
Chanta Clears growing on that coach will fight ship oh yeah,
he will come running through these studios. But their nicknames
(01:19):
are the Chance. Yeah, I know, it's one of those things.
It's a chance, but it's the ship shant clear.
Speaker 4 (01:24):
That can't sound right. No chance, they're the Chance but
the chant. Now that makes no sense.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
When Roger Miller was the Shanta clear chant to clear, Oh.
Speaker 4 (01:33):
Dear Robin the vus.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
Where we were watching Robin Hood back in the day,
it was the Shanta Clear. But no, now you got
the coach. He wants to fight. It's and the chant.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
You know what.
Speaker 4 (01:46):
I come on, man, you can't at it.
Speaker 5 (01:48):
Man.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
This is like Michael Malone. Mike Malone, he will come
and try to kick your ass. It's not like I say, hey,
I root for the Jets or the Gets. No, it's
it's Jets. It's what it well, okay, not the Jets. No,
you would say it's it's it's it's the chance and
the chance to clears or the shans and and the
chan de clear. You gotta pick one. You gotta pick one.
Comes close to saying chum, so it's close that same ball.
(02:14):
The uh as in shun Well. The party at Tyler
Thigpenn's house has to be off the hook tonight with
Carolina going to the final. How about the men's college
World Series?
Speaker 6 (02:25):
How about the well the party at on Zuna in
Matt Olson's house, probably a lot bigger goodness?
Speaker 1 (02:30):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, Look, I will say this. I'll give
you this. I'll give you this, Frostburg.
Speaker 4 (02:35):
It is not suck. Oh my god, you're you're in sane.
Many runs did you score? The Yankees scored more runs
than you guys tonight. Okay, they scored two. There's more.
They're still going to lose.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
It has not been a banner last few days in
New York baseball.
Speaker 4 (02:49):
We're not gonna give.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
Out the catcher's mass looking popcorn bucket for a Mets game.
Speaker 4 (02:54):
Oh and I forgot How can I forget his home minute? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (02:57):
Okay, so we're still in first place. Everything is still fine.
When we're not in.
Speaker 4 (03:02):
Last flat though, everything so happy.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
The everything's fine is when you feel like the rails
are coming off and you got a guy who's been
on the disabled list. I'm sorry the injured list a
hundred times. Who's going complete game on you?
Speaker 4 (03:19):
If everybody on the injury No, no, I'm saying Chris Sale.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
Oh whatever, Look listen, listens. When it came down to it,
who beat the Braves to go to the playoffs last
year with the Lindor home run? Okay, we're sti it
doesn't matter. I'm still dining out off of that. It
was a new day yesterday. It's not a day now.
It's Ian Anderson, Jethrow tell the Mets in the Yankees
(03:42):
the last few days has not been great, not great, Bob,
But Joe Adell hit another home run against Frostburg. Who
wants to go over some who in an hour is
gonna be great horror when the Dodgers are losing for nothing.
In the first thing, he's gonna go, oh, it's a series,
and two what does it matter? And then the next
hour is going to be, oh, your season's over. You're like,
(04:04):
you should be a Yankee fan, because you would be
absolutely perfect as a Yankee fan. Everything is great in
my world.
Speaker 4 (04:09):
Yeah, what do we got? We got Colloss just bought
the Lakers.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
Well that that's a whole Yeah, you want to talk
about it. Celebrate winning. We got Shean and Kohlik coming
up here in mere moments. Meanwhile, Yes, the big story
of the day, the bus family is entering into an
agreement to sell the majority ownership of the Lakers to
Mark Walter, who also has the same agreement with the Dodgers,
for a franchise valuation of approximately ten billion dollars. Shams
(04:37):
Trani of ESPN reporting this it is the highest ever
for a US professional sports franchise. So the Bus family
is out, well, almost everybody is out. Genie Buss will
still continue on running the team as the quote governor
for a quote number of years to be determined. So
basically what's going on is this, the Bus family is
(04:59):
cashing out. Genie Buss. Okay, I've been the owner. I'm
gonna stay for a few more years and still run
things any day because because Mark Walter is not that
kind of guy. He's got his finger in a lot
of pies, right, He's got he's got big pies in
front of it, all his fingers that he's got a
blueberry pie and a Rudbard pie and Huckleberry pie's.
Speaker 4 (05:14):
He's got a Laker pie, got the dog Huckleberry You've won.
He's got all kinds of pies, right, pie pie, pie,
pie pie.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
Right, He's got it all in there, And so she's
gonna continue to run the team, but the Bus family
is no longer going to be in control of the Lake.
They still have a majority of minority share, kind of
like Mark Cuban selling the Mavericks. We've seen now the
Mavericks and the Celtics and now the Lakers being sold.
Speaker 4 (05:36):
So how big a deal is this? Right? Like, like
on the surface, I could tell you.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
Look, yeah, it is a bummer because I kind of
like the fact that, you know, mom and pop teams.
The family aspect of owning a team that's passed down
from generation to generation is sort of going away, where
you know, all big hedge fun guys and art dealers
and whoever else. I own the Mona Lisa, I'm I'm
gonna trade two paintings for it. That's the eraror now
of who we're buying teams, And I understand that. So
(06:03):
that's kind of a sad thing. But in this case,
it's not incredibly sad because, you know what, the Bus
family ain't exactly run the Lakers great since they took
over for doctor Jerry Buss in twenty thirteen. So my
big takeaway from this, well, yeah, it's sad to see
the mom and pop is that, and I'm being honest
this Frostburg is gonna love this. Maybe things will get
better for the Lakers now, because, yes, they won the
(06:24):
title in twenty twenty, but that's mainly because Lebron James
decided to show up as a Laker. This is not
where oh, we did all these different things, maneuvered the roster. No,
they got Lebron James to the Lakers. Eighty wanted to
be there to play with Lebron. They were able to
grab lat This has not been a run of boy
the Lakers showing we really know how to run a team.
They had a five year stretch of not making the playoffs.
(06:46):
The minute the Bus family took over and Jeanie Buss
was installed as governor. They have a couple of first
round exits. They win the title in twenties. I'm not
saying that's right. They won the title in twenty twenty.
It's legit. You want to say, Bobo title. It's the
hardest one to win when you play all season for
home field, the home court advantage, and you don't get
that in the playoffs, right, because the biggest thing the
Lakers lost was home court advantage. They still won the title,
(07:06):
but outside of that, they had the bit of a
run to the Western Conference Finals, but it's been first
round outs. You look at the last twelve thirteen years
of the Lakers since Doctor Bus passed away and his
kids took over, and it's kind of you know what
you would expect Logan roy in succession, right, like, Wow,
this has really not been a banner last twelve or
thirteen years. So my big takeaway, Okay, maybe now the
(07:28):
Lakers can be good and Mark Walter's gonna be clearly magic.
Johnson is excited, and there's maybe a different way of
running the team, a different way of looking at things.
Maybe money is gonna flow a little bit easier, a
little bit easier decision making. Maybe there's some people in
the way of making some calls that are harder to
make when it's talking about getting a player or giving
money to a player. That's what I got go Hey,
(07:48):
lots of things are gonna change, But my big thing is, Okay,
I've seen how the Lakers have been run for the
past twelve or thirteen years, and now maybe things can
get better for them with this change in ownership. That's
where I'm at. Yeah, a couple of things to it.
First off, you know, just when we go back to
the fun and excitement world of Walt Disney World and
that title, they did have one hundred days off, which
(08:08):
was good for old legs, old tired bodies like Lebron,
And it was a long time off, right, That's enough
time to recover from a shoulder surgery or something like that.
But all that to say, they do have the title.
Folks can dislike it all they want. It's kind of
like home run Leaders. You know from the quote ped Era,
those guys are still listed as the leaders, aren't. They
(08:31):
just say it anyway. But when we talk about this,
you know, the lamentation of the mom and pop operation
goes both ways, because that's been the lamentation of why
the Lakers might not have been able to get out
of their own way at times in terms of player
acquisition development, et cetera. When we look at it, you know,
you have the tinfoil hat crew is out already with
(08:54):
the Well, that's why Luca ended up a Laker, because
it then pushed the valuation even no, the valuation was
already set because of the fact that you watched what
Dallas went for, You watched.
Speaker 4 (09:06):
What the Celtics went for.
Speaker 1 (09:07):
You look at the market, the size, the scope, the brand,
the history, everything of the Lakers. It's worth that much.
Doesn't come with anything in terms of stadia, parking and
all those other accouterments that you normally say, hey, that
has some great value to us as well, because that's aeg.
They still control that. But for Walter and Company, they
(09:29):
take over and we watch it. With the Dodgers, you
put people who know what they're doing in place, and
you say what does it cost to win? And you
go win because winning begets massive amounts of cash. And
the Sho Heo Tani deal, the Mookie Bets deal, all
those that they deferred on the Dodger side. I don't
think the NBA allows the same circumvention or kicking the
(09:53):
can down the road as it were, but certainly you
get creative and when you can say, well we need
to go into the luxury tech and the second aprons
and all these things that we talk about when it
comes to roster construction. The thing with the Lakers as
they've been operating is they didn't have that cash sitting
in no man's land, right That wasn't a hey, just
(10:16):
go to the cash reserve. No, the money is actually
in the banana stand as in the Lakers. That's where
the money is, right And as much as they get
from their cut of TV deals and their own network
and everything else, it's still going back into the business
and you don't have this giant cash cow on the
(10:37):
outside to draw from. Walter and Company give you that, right,
you're talking tens upon tens of billions of dollars that Hey,
we want to go get that guy. What's it gonna do.
It's gonna push us out here to cost more money? Okay,
as opposed to well, financially, that's not prudent.
Speaker 4 (10:53):
We can't do that.
Speaker 1 (10:54):
Yeah, you can take out home equity loans in the
form of selling off a percentage and shaking off a
little like you're at Shawshank. But in this case you say, wait,
we can get how much to cash out and I
still get to be in charge for a couple of
years during this transition, and we probably get out of
Lebron and Clutch Sports and begin a new Oh it's
a win for everybody. Yeah, look and look, it's a
(11:15):
great look. It's a great time to sell. Obviously, with
the franchise being valued at ten billion dollars. You have
Luca in place to be your next franchise player. The
new TV deal is in place. It's a great it's
a great time. It's the end of the Lebron era.
It's the beginning of the Luca era. And all right,
this is the perfect You have a superstar in place,
they have no problem giving him money. Walter's gonna commit
(11:37):
and say, look, whatever you want, we have it for you.
It's gonna be fine. Maybe we'll pay Shohy in Laker
shares and that's gonna take care of all those balloon
payments we have in about ten years. But honestly, like overall,
since twenty thirteen, it's the Lakers brand has taken a
huge hit. Right you think about it, it seems so
long ago. But five years in a row of no playoffs,
(11:58):
they couldn't get it right. And this is with Hobi
for most of it, right, you couldn't get it right.
You couldn't keep it going, you couldn't even get to
the playoffs. And yeah, twenty twenty, you get to the
top of the mountain. You're taking thirteen years overall in
retrospect and saying, okay, well we had a really disappointing
first round flame out this year with Luca and Lebron
and we had the time. So in the last thirteen years,
it's wow, you know, this has been a they have
(12:20):
really struggled and when you are and it's like the
Lakers and the Knick struggles of the last twelve thirteen
years has really been tough on the NBA because the
NBA is great when these teams are terrific. Right, you
saw the excitement with the Knicks finally getting good this year. Yeah,
they love it, but it doesn't matter. They can market.
Speaker 4 (12:35):
They carried in the mix. They carried the mail for
the long time.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
Well now you have Miami is great, and Miami is
great and Diet Dallas when they're good is great. But
it's not like having the Knicks in the Lakers. No.
But then you look at where we're at right now.
Normally this stuff gets pushed off. It's like, so, what
do we have today? We have Lebron in this podcast
and the trickle down effect of that, and we have
this Lakers move, we still have the finals game. Yeah,
it's like, hey, but you know what, business I feel
(13:01):
I feel incredibly optimistic just because I look back at
the last plus decade plus and go not great. Maybe
this will be better. Maybe different things will shake out,
different way of running things, different way of looking at things,
not letting clutch sports run things like they did for
three four years. Maybe Mark Walter is a guy saying, uh, yeah, no,
I don't care if Lebron and and and Ad want Westbrook.
Speaker 4 (13:23):
I'm not crazy. We're not doing that.
Speaker 1 (13:25):
Oh okay, again, different ways to run things, maybe things
are different. So this is a moment of optimism.
Speaker 4 (13:31):
I mean, I'm.
Speaker 1 (13:32):
Excited if I'm excited for the Lakers because I saw
the way they run and how how business and the
way that the Bus family and Jennie Bus runs things,
and I go, you let Lebron and Rich Paul basically
run things for a couple of years, and now you're
finally taking control of the team. But okay, after another
bad first round exit, another prime year of Lebron, the
first time you had Luca and it was and it
was and you were out right away, Like that is
(13:53):
a really difficult thing to get past when you have
had star players and you still can't win. You went
from from Kobe to Lebron to Luca and you got
one title, right, Okay, not that you need to win
every year, but it's not like oh, lost in the
Western Conference Finals, lost an NBA finals, lost in Western
Conference finals. This is no playoffs, no playoffs, no playoffs,
no playoffs. Lost in first round, lost in first round,
(14:16):
Western Conference finals, lost in first round, lost in first round. Like,
that's not acceptable, Lakers. It's a different level of what
you accept as this is the level we need to
be at and they have been just below it for
a long time. Bring in a guy who knows how
to run an operation. Put people in charge who know
what they're doing. I find it funny that the first
guy to say, hey, great job, great job was Magic Johnson.
Speaker 4 (14:38):
It's you and Lonzo Ball that shoot it all up.

Speaker 4 (16:39):
Yeah, you get to be the play of the day.
Speaker 5 (16:41):
First pitch all the way from Blackburn, swung on and
drilled deep center field.
Speaker 4 (16:45):
Taylor going back all the board.
Speaker 5 (16:48):
That thing's leave in town a home run by Acunya head.
Speaker 4 (16:52):
It's won nothing.
Speaker 5 (16:53):
Brains three, two pitch and Olsen hits one a mile
high to right field, a sky apron to the chop house.
Speaker 4 (17:01):
Head out of here.
Speaker 5 (17:03):
What don't that bat by met Olsen and he finally
got one he could barrel and he just top that
thing out to fly, but one ground bought a second.
Ozzie is there, flips to Alan steps on the bag,
braves win. It's a shutout of victory over the Mets.
Five nothing the final score on a night where Chris
Sale led the parade.
Speaker 1 (17:23):
Oh, great bonus player of the day. Oh yeah, we
don't have one big home run for you for the bread. No,
we have all the Braves runs as they shut out
the Mets five nothing. Sometimes it's so special. I mean
when you have a full shutout. Man, we don't get
a lot of those. No, No, Chris Sale, complete game. Congratulations.
Speaker 4 (17:40):
We certainly don't get a lot of those. Man.
Speaker 1 (17:42):
That that improves your Hall of Fame candidacy. Right, what
a surprise Frostburg picked that? What is suppose you upset about?
What an absolute shock? I gave you an extra shock.
Speaker 4 (17:54):
Uh now, what's he supposed to pick from? I don't know.
An Angels Yankees game?
Speaker 2 (17:59):
Boring?
Speaker 1 (18:00):
Well, the Yankee scored a run. You don't think that's
a play of the day. They scored today, a couple
of solo home runs.
Speaker 7 (18:04):
I'm up to.
Speaker 1 (18:05):
Having scored since Saturday. It's Wednesday. Come on, man, that's
a big deal. In case you've been under a rock
in a coma, otherwise detained, the Yankees have finally scored again. Meanwhile,
we're watching this College World Series game, which is just
all sorts of craziness. So yeah, I mean it is
just a weird when Arkansas is just absolutely melting down
(18:25):
in the ninth and against LSU a two run lead
and they blew a ground ball play at first base.
The left fielder just misjudged a fly ball that could
have been the final out of the inning, felt down
and bounces off of him towards the left field line
and tying runs scores we saw in the eighth inning
chaos of the first baseman for SU with a fielding
(18:47):
gaff just absolutely insane. Everybody who bet under eleven on
this game, Yeah, you're gonna lose because there's gonna be
one more run. It's a fine, I'm gonna get one
more at least one. So Arkansas and LSU with the
chance waiting in the wings for the College World Series championship,
eventually the Chanta clears. See because you said shams, but
(19:12):
it's pronounced chams. Chums, it's chams, but chalmsho it's a champ. Now,
I'm gonna give you this gift, Frostburg, even though you
don't deserve it because you played the bleep in Braize,
But I'm gonna give you this gift.
Speaker 4 (19:25):
Okay, So since a day ago.
Speaker 1 (19:27):
Right, we had that big MLB the Streak story where
the guy this MLB dot com has had his contest
now for the past few years, where all you have
to do is pick somebody to get a hit every
day in a row. If you go fifty seven days
in a row, you win five point six million dollars,
right like that. That's the thing, and they've done it
for a long time now. And a guy got to
fifty a couple of days ago and could have gotten
(19:50):
to fifty one except a base hit to right field.
It turns into a force out because the runner gets
caught between first and second. So what would have been
a base hit to keep it going was done.
Speaker 4 (19:58):
Yeah, how much you doing that? Years ago?
Speaker 1 (20:00):
I actually contributed to MLB dot com when they started.
Speaker 4 (20:03):
I was terrible.
Speaker 1 (20:04):
So my dad and I taught, and you want to
do it, and we're doing it together, and I'm so excited. Right,
It's like, this is good. We're gonna do this every
day and we're gonna take turns. Right, we're gonna take turns.
I go, you pick one day, I'll pick the next.
That's the best way to do it. So I said,
you picked the first day. All right, Now, I'm gonna
give each of you a guess. Who did my dad.
Speaker 4 (20:20):
Pick the first game today? Right?
Speaker 1 (20:23):
I said, here's the one I'm picking, And I said, okay,
who's either a Judge or a Stanton guy?
Speaker 4 (20:29):
Who do you think my dad picked?
Speaker 1 (20:30):
I will give you each two guesses to guess who
my dad this is. I can pick anybody any time
in life. No, Dad, you gotta pick somebody today.
Speaker 4 (20:38):
They're all simulated games, right, you each get two guesses.
Speaker 6 (20:42):
I'm going Volpian Bellinger, Vopian Belinger, Okay, Harmon.
Speaker 1 (20:46):
I would say Judge okay, and Chisholm, No, you are
both incorrect. Remember I said Frostburg, I just named like
half the line. I know I'm gonna give you this
gift even though you don't deserve it. So I'll let
you guys guess again. You guessed four Yankees, none of
them were correct, and Rice not. Why would that be
(21:08):
a gift for Frostburg.
Speaker 4 (21:09):
I don't know. This is a gift for Frostburg even
though you don't deserve it. What oh so he no? Really?
Hold on.
Speaker 1 (21:19):
Pie, my dad took Andy Paus to get the hit
tonight to start things off for the thing. He goes, yeah,
I got it my first But Andy Potsus, I said, really,
I said, you're not taking it?
Speaker 4 (21:31):
Wow?
Speaker 1 (21:32):
He goes, no pie judge. I said, yeah, it turned
out so far it's okay, right.
Speaker 5 (21:38):
So.
Speaker 4 (21:40):
Yeah, but the way he worded that was was very
not good.
Speaker 6 (21:44):
What do you mean it was not good because you
worded it like he took a yankee.
Speaker 4 (21:48):
No, that's why we were all guessing yankee. Why? But
I said, it's a gift for you. Why would a
yankee be a gift for that?
Speaker 6 (21:55):
I think.
Speaker 4 (21:57):
You must be an impossible for a birthday.
Speaker 1 (21:59):
But it was just that it would it be a
captain obvious kind of thing, like he had to take
a yankee.
Speaker 6 (22:03):
No, I thought he was going with the heel turn.
I thought, I honestly. Once he said it again, I
thought you were going to say, Paul.
Speaker 1 (22:08):
Goldsmith, he's just up going pause. I said, okay, two
runs four hits last night. Oh guys, right, hot going,
I said, okay, So Andy Paez is our first guy
up in this still mad at the Padres manager. All
of those subplots. By the way, the over under was
ten and a half.
Speaker 4 (22:23):
For you.
Speaker 1 (22:24):
If you thought Frostburg was kidding. Lsu Is just walked
off Yes, winning tonight when it looked like all was lost.
All you need was Arkansas to play defense in the
top of the ninth inning. I have not seen Livy Dunne.
I'm waiting to say, I where is I. I assume
she's gonna be somewhere by it. She was drinking tall
(22:44):
boys the other day she was hitting a whole other
It's like Sophie Cunningham.
Speaker 4 (22:48):
We talked about last night, earning all sorts of new.
Speaker 1 (22:51):
Fans by becoming the enforcer on top of the fandom
that she'd already built. Levy done took next next level stuff.
Was like, wait, she's drinking a tall boy. I know
what she's doing cartwheels in center field like they're they're
talking to Jared Jones, who had the walk off hit
for LS. You're great, but like I mean, Livy dunn
is the one you got to talk to. Hey, Jed,
you're gonna be around for a minute. We got to
(23:12):
talk to Livy first. Okay, that's great. Yeah, you're all
finding good. All right, Hey, I'll tell you it is
really tough watching, you know, back and forth. The left
fielder on Arkansas who missed the fly ball that that
that could have been the final out of the ninth inning.
Speaker 4 (23:24):
Is crying.
Speaker 1 (23:25):
They're all talking to him off the field. Just a
really difficult moment for Arkansas. The game winning hit goes
as it goes off the second baseman's glove. Uh, maybe
a little bit of a misstime jump, but doesn't matter.
LSU are your winners tonight.
Speaker 4 (23:42):
The Chunta clears are waiting catchable ball up the gut.
Speaker 1 (23:47):
Everything that could go wrong in the field, did mabe
if you talk about having a game on on the
plate for you to finish it off and send LSU
home and you're showing the the Arkansas dugout, just the
reaction man to man and then back into the field,
the tears in the eyes and in the emotion of
(24:07):
you know, the gravitass of this moment for a lot
of these.
Speaker 4 (24:10):
Guys, probably the last innings they're gonna play.
Speaker 1 (24:13):
I mean, you have a bad throat to first base
behind the pitcher that that could have been an out.
You had the drop fly ball in left field, you
would kind of looked like the fly ball to played
the left field. Remember when that I don't know why
it became so famous, but like going back like twenty
years a big Brent Brown play sure when he dropped
an easy fly ball for the Cubs and left, and
when the Cubs were really good and he dropped an
(24:34):
easy fly ball that would have ended the game and
they lost, Like he just got under it and just
lost himself, Like that's kind of what happened here. And
so you had that and then you had a missed
a bit of a miss time jump at second place,
like that is just an that's just an all time
meltdown in the ninth inning for a team, And I
feel I feel.
Speaker 4 (24:50):
So bad for aut Aaron judged it.
Speaker 1 (24:51):
Oh no, if it went right to his glove and
he dropped it, it would have been Aaron judge that this
was more Hey, I kind of got lost here and
and dumble fall dive whatever it was and then off
his body into the corner. But yeah, just a brutal
way to finish a game.
Speaker 4 (25:08):
Oh Man.
Speaker 1 (25:09):
Absolutely time out to find out what's trending in the
wide world sports. We told you about the College World
Series game From someone who's been called the Genie Buss
of Fox Sports Radio. She's going to spend the rest
of her life splitting money with her family.
Speaker 7 (25:22):
It is Yes, I hope to have enough money to
split it with my family. I like that.
Speaker 4 (25:27):
I like that.
Speaker 3 (25:28):
Guys. You also missed.
Speaker 7 (25:29):
In this ninth inning, the Arkansas shortstop had a chance
for a double play. There was a man on first
and second. He fielded the ball and went for the
leading runner at third.
Speaker 3 (25:40):
He easily it could have ended.
Speaker 4 (25:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (25:42):
Then came the Tyne run, then game the walk.
Speaker 2 (25:45):
Then came the walk off.
Speaker 7 (25:46):
So the shortstop was crying because he turned his hips
to third base instead of going for the double play,
and he probably.
Speaker 3 (25:52):
Felt it would have been over it.
Speaker 7 (25:54):
It's so many things like I can't believe how it ended,
but yes, less he walks it off against Arkansas six
to five. Jared Jones with that RBI single to walk
it off. He also homered in that game. They're gonna
face Coastal Carolina, who beat Louisville earlier today eleven to
three in the best of three championship series. In baseball,
we've got a lot of games going on, like the
(26:15):
Lawyers and the Padres. Padres was scored first here in
La one zero top of the second inning. A's up
on the Astros one zero bottom of the second, Guardians
holding on to their one zero lead over the Giants.
Top of the fourth, the Royals are topping the Rangers
six to three. Top of the eighth, the Orioles were
beating the Rays eight zero.
Speaker 3 (26:35):
The Rays are now up twelve to eight, and it's
the top of the ninth inning. In Tampa.
Speaker 7 (26:40):
The Reds have afforded to lead over the Twins. Bottom
of the fifth, about to start. The Rockies are beating
the Nationals three to one. Bottom of the eighth inning
about to start. Should I tell you about the Mets?
Speaker 4 (26:48):
You already heard. I'm sorry. There was no baseball the
National League. They got play. You're right, they did not play.
That's right.
Speaker 3 (26:56):
Brave shut out the Mets five zero. The Blue Jays
crush the Diamondbacks eight to one.
Speaker 7 (27:01):
The Angels completed a three game sweep of the Yankees
after their three to two win.
Speaker 3 (27:05):
But at least the Yankees didn't get shut out.
Speaker 7 (27:07):
They did have some home runs from Jazz Chisholm Junior
and Cody Bellinger. The Phillies top the Marlins four to two.
The Red Sox defeated the Mariners three to one. Boston
is now headed to sim Francisco, so they get to
see their old friend.
Speaker 3 (27:19):
Raphael Devers in a couple of days.
Speaker 7 (27:21):
The big story in the NBA, the Bus family has
agreed to sell majority of the Lakers to Mark Walter,
who also serves as the CEO of the Guggenheim group
that owns the Dodgers. They're selling them for They're selling
the Lakers for ten billion dollars in Jeanie Buses expected
to remain with the franchise as the team's governor.
Speaker 3 (27:37):
Tyrese Haliburn dealing with the strange calfs.
Speaker 7 (27:40):
So his status for tomorrow's Game six between the Pacers
and the thunder Well, it's going to be a game
time decision. And in the NFL, the Ravens have signed
cornerback Jay Yere Alexander to a one year deal.
Speaker 1 (27:50):
Bank to you guys, thank you very much, Badsley, Jason Smith,
Mike Harmon live from the Fox Sports Radio studios. Now,
as you mentioned, big a day for Chadoor Sanders that
I think he would like to forget.
Speaker 6 (28:03):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (28:04):
He was cited for going one hundred miles an hour
one hundred and one miles an hour early Tuesday morning,
according to police records, in Ohio. He was stopped at
twelve twenty four am, forty one miles over the posted
sixty mile an hour speed limit in his black Dodge
TRX truck. Look, I have to say this because this
(28:26):
is where Chador Sanders. If I was giving him pr advice,
or if I was his agent, I would tell him, Okay, dude.
Speaker 4 (28:34):
Remember remember in.
Speaker 1 (28:35):
Top Gun when the Bald Guy, when when Stinger tells Maverick,
you know your family name ain't the best in the business. Maverick,
you need to be doing it better and cleaner than
everybody else. Right, he tells a good of the flyby
and against the Penny Benjamin, Penny Benjamin.
Speaker 4 (28:49):
Okay, the guy looks like Donald Pleasure. He's still alive.
James Tolkien, He's still alive.
Speaker 1 (28:55):
He was strickland in in uh Back to the Future,
strict didn't you ever have it? Let me give you
a Nichols worth of free advice, McFly. So I would
tell Shador Standers this.
Speaker 4 (29:07):
Look.
Speaker 1 (29:08):
I know that you're in the NFL now and all
the drama with your draft is over and you're on
the field and it's about what you do on the field.
But remember that you come with a lot of baggage, right,
right or wrong. Perception is reality. You're a fifth round
draft pick. The path is clear for you to be
the starting quarterback here in Cleveland by October. Right, he's
(29:32):
clearly been the best quarterback so far. Again, it's seven
on seven. It's not equipment. It's okay, come on, run
the numbers. People, run the numbers. Look at him throw
the ball.
Speaker 4 (29:40):
Yeah, he has shown you that.
Speaker 1 (29:41):
Hey, and the desire to see him succeed, that fans
want to see him succeed on is great. So yeah,
Shadoor Sanders, Hey, everything is in front of you. Right,
everything is in front of you. Have a quiet two
or three months, have a quiet summer, get back in
a month and compete, and worst scenario Joe Flacco starts
(30:02):
for the beginning of September and eventually you take over
the beginning of October. Right, everybody wants you've played really well,
you've done so far, but stuff like this is just
gonna kill you because the issue is is that you're
a fifth round pick. Okay, everything you're going on that's
having you right now is a test. Right, You're getting
second team reps and later in camp, why the Browns
(30:24):
are testing you. How are you gonna be if you're
not getting first team reps? Are you gonna show maturity?
How are you gonna be away from the field? Can
you ace the test of not getting a speeding ticket
going one hundred miles an hour and sixty mile an
hours on? Can you stay out of trouble? You are
taking a test every day between now and the end
of training camp. That's what I would tell Shador Santos,
because this is exactly what's gonna happen for you. If
(30:46):
you pass this test every day, you'll be starting by October.
Fail it, and guess what you're getting cut. You're a
fifth round pick. They got four quarterbacks in camp to
the two Super Bowl winning quarterbacks that they signed and
a guy they took two round before you. If you
fail these tests, you are getting cut. Understand, come at
this thing with humility and a desire to prove yourself,
(31:08):
and if you do that, that means you are gonna
have the gate open for you. But if you fail,
you're gonna get cut. And I don't know who's gonna
pick you up. I don't know if there's other team
that's gonna say, yeah, we want you door Sanders. He
was given everything a Cleveland went and got him. He
had a chance there. He couldn't even make the roster
because of all these things that happened. Now this thing,
can you get past one miles drive one hundred miles
(31:28):
an hour and say, yeah, you can get past that.
But this ain't a great start to the offseason when
you've been away for the team for all of three days, right, hey,
vacations here three days in guess what? Boom, here's sh
doors Sanders with a negative headline about the Browns. You
don't have the cachet, you're not the number two overall
picking the draft, number two a row pick in the draft.
He said, ah, you gotta improve your decision making. But
this is one of those things where okay, how many
(31:49):
more check marks against you until the Browns say, yeah,
you know it's not gonna work out. Well, Jimmy Haslum's
looking at it, going how many jerseys we sell him?
How much your sponsors come on board for him? The
Super Bowl winning quarterbacks? How much is anybody coming on
for Kenny Fitton? Okay, this one's fine, but here you
go Fox eight out of Ohio, because you know, we
(32:10):
like to do the deep dive here. They say that
more than eighty three thousand people last year by the
Ohio State Are Highway Patrol. We're giving tickets for speeding
twenty miles an hour over the speed limit and more
than thirty seven hundred, thirty seven one hundred in a row.
See exactly received tickets for going over one hundred miles
(32:31):
per hour thirty seven one hundred in the state.
Speaker 4 (32:35):
The I Team. Whenever you get the EYE team involved,
it's great.
Speaker 1 (32:38):
They've done several stories on drivers speeding over one hundred
miles an hour, including a city firefighter was Clockett doing
one hundred and seventeen. This will be fine, but just
like with the kids, you need to be doing it
better and cleaner because you're not a fireman.
Speaker 4 (32:53):
You're not.
Speaker 1 (32:54):
You are potentially the starting quarterback of the Cleveland Browns
and the guy that needs to prove himself and stay
away from bad headlines if he wants to make the
team and make that happen.
Speaker 4 (33:03):
Yeah. See, I think Jimmy Haslam is the invisible hand.
Speaker 1 (33:06):
So unless this puts some uh you know, they can't
pay the fine and he ends up behind bars for it,
he'll be He'll be the quarterback for the Browns because
Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett ain't holding them off for long.
I mean, you've heard the stats for what he's doing
in the.
Speaker 4 (33:23):
Off season workouts.
Speaker 5 (33:24):
No.
Speaker 1 (33:25):
Look, obviously, it's like when you tell your kids when
they leave the house with the gar keys, make good decisions.
Same thing for Shedior Sanders got to do it. Yeah,
because you don't have the cachet that you think you do.
Speaker 4 (33:37):
You still think, oh, there's no way I should have slip.
Guess what you said.
Speaker 1 (33:40):
You're a fifth round pick your curiosity right, and the
Browns given there giving your curiosity, that's what you are.
That understand that you have to have that that that's
the way you need to attack things over the next
couple of months.
Speaker 4 (33:52):
And this is not a great start to the off season.
Speaker 1 (33:54):
This is just another way of Brown's okay decision making
right after away from the team for three days. Look
what happened, just saying the next time I'm on the
highway next to you and mister Brownstone kicks in for you,
I know what's happening.
Speaker 4 (34:05):
Do do do do do do do do do do
do do do compute.
Speaker 1 (34:10):
I was nervous driving in the autobond when we went
to Germany like twenty years ago, and I'm like.
Speaker 4 (34:15):
You weren't driving past, and I think I can go
one hundred. I could go that, Okay, now I don't know.
Speaker 1 (34:20):
Hey that was great. Now I hit one hundred for
like three seconds. Okay, I'm not gonna slow down to Guaco.
I'm gonna pull over somebody else drive. I don't want
to do it anymore. I don't want to do it.
Speaker 4 (34:28):
I don't want to.
Speaker 1 (34:29):
Or or maybe you were singing WHOA. I mean, you
would be speeding if that came on the radio.
Speaker 4 (34:34):
Wouldn't you exit?
Speaker 5 (34:36):
Out?
Speaker 1 (34:36):
About a Fresca exit Swallen Dome. Jason Smith, Mike Harmon
Live and the Fox Sports Radio Studios. Coming up next,
A big basketball story that is starting to get overblown
and overrated. That's next, Jason to Mike Fox Sports Radio.

(35:20):
Uh Dodgers Padres. Machado just had a little bit of
chin music come his way, but instead it's a strikeout
and the Padres continually the Dodgers won nothing. Here is
the best rivalry in sports. Continues on. We have another
game tonight, we got even the game tomorrow, we have it.
I think the Dodgers Potters are playing every night for
the next ten days. I got no problem with that.
(35:40):
I think that's good for good for America. So how
about a really overrated story? All right, really over at
This could go any number of ways.
Speaker 4 (35:52):
This is great.
Speaker 1 (35:53):
The health of Tyrese Halibert oh Okay. According to Rick Carlisle,
he is quote a game time decision for tomorrow after
the left calf injury, the strain. He was at practice
today moving slowly, But then again, every Pacers player was
moving slowly. Wasn't a big intense practice. Apparently the MRI
(36:15):
is fine. If he's a game time decision, do you
really think he's not gonna play tomorrow? Do you really
think he's not gonna play Come on, are.
Speaker 4 (36:24):
They really They're really gonna try to do one of these.
Speaker 1 (36:27):
Hookomania kind of things back in the day where it's
the rope of dope and then he starts shaking his
fists and the crowd goes nuts, and that's supposed to
energize everybody.
Speaker 4 (36:36):
I mean, like, what are we doing?
Speaker 1 (36:37):
I mean, really, Haliburton is coming off one of the
worst finals games that we've ever seen a star have, right,
and we know he hears everything. He pays attention to
what's being said. His game is all about confidence. When
he can import as well on the game. When he
is jacked up for a game, he plays great. When
he's not, he's in the tank, right, that's Tyre's Halliburton.
He's not consistent enough to be a big superstar yet,
(36:59):
and coming off this bad game, all of a sudden,
his injury gets amped up. Thirty four minutes he played
on that bad calf. Well, if it's that bad, why
did he play thirty four minutes? Why was he out
there at the end of the game. Wait, was it
really that bad?
Speaker 5 (37:11):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (37:11):
But now it's an m or he's going to play, right?
Is that an indictment of McConnell and mcconna.
Speaker 2 (37:19):
Run.
Speaker 1 (37:19):
He just I can't play any more minutes. Don would
played twenty minutes a night, and I'm exhausted. But the
more time goes on, I see this and I go
was this just a way to try to take the
pressure off of Haliburton with two days ago? We don't
want him, We don't want him moping around and and
and getting in his head too much about what's happening.
But we want to put out there, hey, he's you know,
he's got the calf injury. And I'm not saying he's
(37:41):
not hurt. I'm gonna say, but guys are dinged up
at this point. You played thirty four minutes. If somehow
he can't play tomorrow night, well then we're gonna examine
what the what the Pacers doctors did and allow him
to come back in that game game five when he
didn't need to. But is that really gonna happen or
really gonna be talking about that, or is he gonna.
Speaker 4 (37:59):
Be playing in game?
Speaker 1 (38:00):
The more time that goes on, Okay, he's at practice,
he's shooting m R.
Speaker 4 (38:04):
We've heard nothing.
Speaker 1 (38:05):
M or right, it was a big thing Searm's had
you got MRI m Riri right, Okay, So apparently the
MRI is okay. Apparently everything is all right, and he's
he's at practice shooting, making shots and taking it easy
to go play tomorrow night. I mean, the more time
I see this, the more I look at it as
is this one of those mental health breaks that the
team is trying to give him because they need him
(38:26):
at his top capacity for game six? And yeah, you
are dinged up a little bit. I'm not saying he's not,
but other guys are dinged up, and we really want
this out there because hey, this is kind of an
excuse as we could say why Tyre's Halliburton didn't play
as well as he did. Right again, I'll be the
most shot guy in the world if he doesn't play
tomorrow night. I'll be the first guy to say while
I was wrong, and I'm gonna say, hey, what are
(38:47):
the pacers doctors doing?
Speaker 4 (38:48):
But again, I don't see that happening.
Speaker 1 (38:50):
Yeah, you look at his over unders and everything total
points and rebounds and everything else.
Speaker 4 (38:56):
The expectation it's set high.
Speaker 1 (38:58):
Enough to like, all right, he's going and you would
expect he's gonna play MRI is clear, but still a
game time decision. It does open up all of those
discussion points and defensible for Indiana in putting him back
on the court because they did close it to two.
Speaker 4 (39:14):
Now was he responsible for that.
Speaker 1 (39:16):
No, but they did close it to two, So you
want to say, well, we had our best guys out there,
even though he was not their best guy on that night.
Passive what for six from the field, just the four
free throws and really took himself out of a lot
of possessions, something we talked a lot with Rick Buker
about the other night. So for Indiana trying to change narrative, storylines,
(39:41):
et cetera. Yeah, I guess they can defend their game
five position. But if he doesn't come out and play,
and if he plays poorly, you're gonna keep trying to
go while he's hurt and he plays another thirty four minutes,
like you've got to have another answer. Someone has to
be better than him at half masted. Yeah, I mean
really again, if he doesn't play, else, say hey, wow,
(40:04):
did I He's gonna play tomorrow night? Right, he's gonna
play exit up about a Fresco exit swallowing home Jason
Smith Mike Harmon live from the Fox Sports Radio Studios.
Coming up next, we get back into a ten billion
dollar story. Jason and Mike. You are listening to Fox
Sports Radio.
