Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven

Speaker 2 (00:11):
For the last time two days ago. Crazy Train Greetings,
Welcome Inside, Happy Monday. The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harbon.
Steve de Sega in for Harmon. Okay, okay, okay, Harmon
is fine. No, he's on vacation. Promise that he's fine.

(00:32):
He's on vacation about I guarantee you he's listening right now,
going great, great, one day, I'm off. They just just
kill me off the show. Click, just Frozy killed me
off the show. He's also not in England, where you
would think he would be for the last Ozzie Black
Sabbath show.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
He's not there, but he is. He's fine.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
Is that the last one in England? Or are they
gonna oh that's you saw Ozzy. That's the last one,
last one? Like that's it? Like that if there's farewell
concerts where you got yeah, okay, and then a year
from now, hey, yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:01):
The Eagles the Hell Freezes Over tour, We're back.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
And I think Motley Cruez had seven or eight farewell
concerts before they go. But that is the last Ozzie,
the last Black Sabbath show. Like Ozzie can't do it anymore.
They had to bring him up in a throne and
he sat to do the songs like Ozzie's Parkinson's Bat
like this was Hey, this was the last Ozzie show ever.
And I'll tell you I streamed a lot of that.
It was unbelievably good.

Speaker 4 (01:25):
So we're not gonna have like the band playing under
the band's name at some county fair in the future.
It just won't be Ozzy.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
Wow and uh hey, some guys from uh uh uh
The Dark Sunday coming in to play a little bit.

Speaker 4 (01:40):
They'll call it Black Sabbath. They'll find somebody from the
Philippines on YouTube that sounds just like Ozzy Osbourne.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
I don't think they'll do that.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
This was it, no like this was this was This
was live aid for a hard rock generation, like this
lineup was Guns and Roses and Metallica did twenty minutes each. Yeah,
we'll come and do twenty minutes. Yeah that's fine. Yeah,
that's all.

Speaker 4 (02:02):
It's all old twenty And then Mariano Rivera came in
from the ball.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
Then he came in at the Enity Safe but like
because Sabbath, they did four songs.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
That was the end.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
Paranoid was the last song that you've ever heard.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
They'll ever do live.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
Ozzie did four songs, which on because you know, look,
these guys are in their seventies now, they can only
do so much. But like I'm in my fifties, like
I'd like to go. I like to go to concert
like that. Give me a great band, give me five
or six of your best songs. Yeah, I'm good. I
don't need the entire catalog. I don't need all these
songs are terrible, but you insist on playing. I'm just
gonna go buy a T shirt.

Speaker 4 (02:32):
No no is like some of those good PBS specials
for people our age. Oh look at the Foreigner Counts.
It that do be Brothers Counts. Here was great stuff
like that. This, I mean everybody doing like four or
five so this is fantastic. Every twenty minutes to do it.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
They bought.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
They put super groups together just to come out and
do it, like Jack Black saying, mister Crowley and it
was like school of Rock because he had all these
rock legends get like Todd Morello's kid and I think
Scott Ian's kid were in the band, and they're.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
Super Tramp, super Tramp there.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
Super Tramp was not there. No, super Tramp was not there. No,
it was It was all like so many big bands now.
And like I said, Guns and Roses came on in
twenty minutes, Bataliate in twenty five minutes. Yeah, we'll be there,
just do We'll just do twenty twenty five minutes. Yeah
that's fine. Well we'll go all the way to England,
We'll go to Birmingham, we'll do that. Yeah, I'm just
gonna you'll just do a few minutes.

Speaker 4 (03:22):
So if they had a collector's VHS version of the
Weekend concert, you would be ordering this.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
Oh nineteen oh yeah yeah yeah yeah. It was like
a ten hour concert and I was like in and
out on it.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
Oh whoa skipped over that?

Speaker 5 (03:36):
They start?

Speaker 2 (03:36):
Yeah, they started with like like rival Sons playing. You're
not kidding about the live Oh yeah ours it was
ten and every band did like twenty like just like live,
just like watching Bohemian Raps and.

Speaker 4 (03:47):
All the fans where they're standing covering up Veterans Stadium.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
Every band did like twenty Phil Collins was playing the
drums again.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
He took a plane over. Uh no, And that's what
it was.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Like, every band did like twenty Now some bands I
get doing twenty twenty five minutes, I can imagine, Hey,
metally yeah, like like less than a half hour.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
Yeah, that's like less than a half hour.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
Guns and Roses wasn't even on the bill, but they
called to say, oh, if you're doing this, we want
to come over.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
We want to do it.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
They're like, yeah, can we fit? Yeah, but we got
twenty minutory Yeah, that's fine, that's good.

Speaker 3 (04:14):
We're good. We're good.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
Oh and everybody does a Black Sabbath cover. Oh okay, great, Trusted,
we'll do that too.

Speaker 4 (04:20):
Remember Slash doing the national anthem solo guitar for a
Dodgers playoff game. Memorable for the entire audience.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
It was, it was. It was an amazing guy.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
No many, you mean for a guy that meant that
much to rock and roll to say goodbye that way,
to do that with his last concert, it's it's incredible. Yeah,
Like I was, I was listening and they brought up
I want the name the Bassis for Anthrax.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
What was his name? I forget, but they brought him on.

Speaker 4 (04:46):
I'll take Bassis for six hundred dollars.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
I forget his name, but he comes on, and I
was ad memorable because he's saying dude, Like the guy's
like sixty five dude, dude, dude, Like he comes on.
Anthrax is a really huge there's such a big influential
heavy metal band from the early eighties.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
That's Eat, That's gotta Eat. And they were such a
big band.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
It's like wow. And he comes on and he says, hey,
we were so happy. I thank Sharon Osborne for being
putting us on the bill because it was such a
great thing. Like, look, we're small potatoes here, and I'm
going this is this is Anthrax. It was a really
big band and the annals of heavy metal, everybody knows
who they are and everything. I just can't name the
basis name, but okay uh. And and he comes on
and he says, hey, we were we're small potatoes here,

(05:25):
like we're small potatoes in this concert. That here's Ozzy,
which tells you the scope of Black Sabbath and Ozzy
and the and the generations of people and hard rock
that it affected. Because Black Sabbath shows up and it's like, whoa, whoa.
Hard rock can be dangerous and it can be fun,
and it can be it can it can put you
on the edge of your seat. It doesn't need to
be you know, happy happy joy time. Like here's Black

(05:49):
Sabbath and nib and Wicked World and it's whoa, These
songs are dangerous.

Speaker 4 (05:53):
There's a bassis listed named Dan Lilker. No, no, sorry,
Frank Bello.

Speaker 2 (05:59):
Frank Bella, that's who I was. Frank bell Yeah. Yeah,
And he's gonna say, can dude, dude, we're here, Like, dude, dude,
Dude's like, uh, it's not for those are my people?

Speaker 3 (06:07):
Is my rock and roll?

Speaker 5 (06:08):
Now?

Speaker 2 (06:08):
While this was going on this weekend of Frostburg cover years,
we have been watching the Yankees and Dodgers absolutely implode.

Speaker 4 (06:16):
Oh my good, it hasn't ended for the Dodgers to
know what for the sixteen nothing?

Speaker 5 (06:19):
Now? Is that?

Speaker 4 (06:20):
What's only only a nine to one deficit at Milwaukee now?

Speaker 2 (06:24):
And uh so Yamamoto becomes an All Star and celebrates
tonight with with what two.

Speaker 4 (06:31):
They're not getting out of the first in? Yeah, okay, yeah,
I was forty one pitches. Yeah, he got two outs
and exited. His manager was, to say the least, not
happy because through the weekend. Understand the Dodger fan perspective.
First off, they're hosting the Houston Astros, who still get
booed constantly in Los Angeles and rightfully so. And now

(06:51):
Tuvey still comes up to bat, so there's still a
reason for Dodger fans to boot, even though most of
the roster from twenty seventeen, of course has turned over
by now. But the three they not only got swept
by hot Houston team, and that's even not the right adjective.
Houston's been great for a couple months now, but the
three losing pitchers for the Dodgers this weekend. One got

(07:11):
sent to the miners the next day, one got sent
to the miners today and he sent before he got
done pitching, and the other you've never heard of. So
there was the weekend. Now tonight, the all star who
they're paying to be the ace of the staff, Yamamoto,
is there and can't get out of the first time.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
We need you to go deep into the game, like
how many pitches, like about forty and in the first inning,
and that's what Like that, the Brewers got five in
the first and that was it. But look, if I'm honest,
right because the two most high profile teams of Major
League Baseball major skids right now. I am way more
worried about the Yankees, way more words, who are not
in first place anymore.

Speaker 3 (07:45):
Because the Dodgers, look, they were not that.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
Not to say, oh that they both have similar problems,
but to say Houston's been terrific the last couple of
months is an understatement, because I, if I'm.

Speaker 4 (07:56):
Old, the right shot up to first place, and it's
a huge lead.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
The Mariners have been playing near seven hundred ball for
most of June and for most of June into July,
and they've lost two and a half games in the standards.

Speaker 4 (08:10):
The Mariners, I believe, were the team that didn't just
sweep their opponent this weekend. They shut them out every
day and gain no ground.

Speaker 2 (08:16):
Understanding Again, they've playing nearly seven hundred ball the last
month and they've lost two and a half games in
the standings. Like, what are you gonna do? The Astros
are just a buzzsaw right now. Yeah, the Dodgers have issues,
but as you see, they're just so incredibly deep that
they'll they can overcome everywhere. They have depth everywhere. They're
gonna keep bringing guys up and.

Speaker 4 (08:35):
On the injured list. Today James Outman up from Triple A.

Speaker 2 (08:38):
Yeah, James Outen, who, by the way, say oh yeah,
I remember James Outman when he was really good.

Speaker 4 (08:41):
You can hit my league pitching. They'll see if he
can hit major league pitch.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
I'm not worried about the Dodger doll They are still
just so deep they can withstand.

Speaker 4 (08:49):
Tyler glasnow coming back to pitch Wednesday afternoon at Milwaukee.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
I'm not I'm not too concerned. Like every team goes
in a bad spot, good their bad spot, and you
didn't think the Dodgers would be get to a point
where they're going.

Speaker 3 (08:59):
Through all this is clearly one. But this, but this
is one. It wasn't just the opponent.

Speaker 4 (09:04):
They're not playing clean baseball and the first inning tonight
was an example of that because they needed defensive held
to get Yamamoto out of the inning and Hooky Bets,
a former Gold Glover when he was an outfielder, is
the shortstop now for the Dodgers and not a Gold Glover,
Let's be honest, No, and he throws one in the dirt,
the inning continues, a three to nothing deficit becomes five nothing,

(09:24):
and the game is at a hand because you've got
the Brewers all star pitching per alta for them tonight.

Speaker 3 (09:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
So, but for the Dodgers, okay, there are This is
the definition when you hear, oh yeah, there's ups and
downs during the season and when it happened.

Speaker 3 (09:37):
Look, the Mets were bad on it. I'm sitting there going,
it's not ups and downs.

Speaker 2 (09:39):
You gon to win a game, come on, like, but
you understand for certain teams, hey, this is just that
time the injury bug hits us all at once. Our
starting pitching, our bullpen is being tested right now. But
the Dodgers are still You're still twenty games over five hundred, right,
You're still the best in that division. I'm I'm not
worth the Yankees, Oh yeah, they're gonna have enough trop
problems just making the playoffs. They're just not a really

(10:01):
good The Dodgers are a fantastic team that's going through
a tough time. The Yankees are not great like they now.

Speaker 3 (10:07):
We see.

Speaker 2 (10:08):
They played way over their heads the first couple of
months of the year, and Aaron Judge what he was
hitting a home run every day, carried the offense, right,
and and they need more from their lineup, which they're
not getting. They're starting pitching, and you know, we talked
to John Paul Morosi about this last week. They're really
when you miss Garrett Cole every fifth day being the
guy that, Okay, we're gonna stop the skid here, we're

(10:29):
gonna come out, we're gonna get we're gonna win this
game three to one, and all of a sudden are
bad times stopper, But that's why they call you a
stop her, so they they don't kneel. I mean, look,
Frieda is having a great year, right, Frieda is having
a great.

Speaker 4 (10:41):
Gonna be an All Star in Atlanta next week.

Speaker 2 (10:43):
But you would have both those guys and expecting you're
not gonna have much losing streaks when you're talking about
those two guys at the top of your rotation.

Speaker 4 (10:50):
And now the closer has had good stretches. Devin Williams
right and not right.

Speaker 2 (10:53):
But I remember Weaver was great, but then he gave
up a couple and now we go on, Yeah, this
is the Yankee are just not a great they're a
good team, but they went all that revenge spending. When
Sodo left, Okay, we're gonna go get Bellinger, We're gonna
go a We're gonna do all this, okay, and what
has this done? They feel like, Oh, we've solved all
these holes. And Yankee fans walking around going, oh, we're

(11:14):
better off giving this money to all these guys and Soda.

Speaker 3 (11:16):
Yeah, still feel that.

Speaker 2 (11:17):
Way, the revenge spending Yankees fans still feel that way,
still feel the way. You have fallen out of first
place and you are just about you've given up ground
to the Red Sox, who things have been so bad
for them they had to trade their best player. This
was where everything is going wrong, and you're sitting there saying, hey,
we're right with the Red Sox.

Speaker 4 (11:35):
And the Blue Jays.

Speaker 2 (11:38):
The Yankees are just one of a lot of good
teams in the American League and they're gonna again They're
gonna have enough problems just making the playoffs. Way more
concerned about the Yankees.

Speaker 4 (11:47):
Put it this way, the Yankees lost three four games
in the standings this past week Toronto red Hot. If
they lose another three four games in the standings this
coming week, they'll not be in the wild card picture.
Officially as we head toward All Star Break, because the
Red Sox right now are only two and a half
games out of the final wildcard spot, two and a
half back of Seattle and the Yankees. Swell, that's a

(12:10):
three and a half game difference between the Yankees and
the Red Sox right now, that's nothing.

Speaker 2 (12:14):
At this point, they've done, They've they've lost time when
the other teams are starting to play a little bit
more to their capabilities, because look, the the Blue Jays
lineup is talent. The Red Sox, I thought coming into
the season, had been one of the best three lineups
in all of Baseball's like, wow, they're going to hit
their way to the wild card.

Speaker 4 (12:28):
Rafael Devers is gonna he's gonna be great.

Speaker 2 (12:30):
He's gonna be so great when he says, yes, I'll
move to first base and love it play there.

Speaker 4 (12:35):
Every single d care if they didn't talk to me
in advance.

Speaker 3 (12:37):
Oh, it's gonna be awesome.

Speaker 2 (12:39):
Like the Red Sox basically said, hey, we're waving a
white flag on the season. Nope, we are right there,
and the Yankees are right there with them. I mean,
the Yankees overachieved the first couple of months and it
was scary in that, you know, when I'm first seeing
the boy, they're in first place, they got a four
or five game lead, and they feel like they're really
not playing well yet, and that filled me with all, great,
this would be a whole summer, my dad.

Speaker 3 (13:00):
Saying, yeah, just wait till we get healthy and all
this stuff.

Speaker 2 (13:02):
And then you realize as time's going on, oh no,
this is just kind of who they are, and they
were playing a little bit above their head.

Speaker 3 (13:09):
Again.

Speaker 2 (13:10):
They're not going to all of a sudden fall into
a team that is not going to contend, but they're
going to be just one of many good teams in
the American League.

Speaker 4 (13:17):
And you also need to say out loud, Vulpi at
short is not deare cheeter defensively, No, right, like this
needs to get better. And also I'm glad you paired
these two teams up because the Dodgers and people that
said you could start and people expected so much of
them at the beginning of the season. They just assume
they see them at the top of the standings, and
they continue to be at the top of the division standings.

(13:37):
Everything's largely fine, and they're going to be getting people back.
No problem. Actually, they've had a losing month during the
year already, and they're having a really bad past week.
And I looked it up the Chicago White Sox, who
have a record of thirty and sixty this year. We'll
give this in Harmon's owner tonight. The Chicago White Sox
have easily a better TEAMYRA than the Dodgers this season.

(14:00):
Because the Dodgers team ERA is four point three three,
the average ERA is right around four. So to say
the least this pitching staff and what they've had to
cobble together for a rotation is costing them.

Speaker 2 (14:14):
Yeah, this is where in the off season I say, okay,
I want to be fifteen deep with starting pitchers before
the season begins. Round the Dodgers fifteen deep. What but
because you're eight deep and still look where you are,
we're eight deep, not a fifteen double it.

Speaker 4 (14:28):
Actually they have three healthy starters, eight have been on
the injured list, so they got close to fifteen.

Longtime friend of the show, NFL insider Jason lock and
for check him out on Odyssey. The Washington Post one
five seven the fan in Baltimore. Jay, what's happening, man?
How are you?

Speaker 5 (18:00):
I'm doing okay? How are you guys?

Speaker 2 (18:02):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (18:02):
Look, we're doing okay.

Speaker 2 (18:03):
I look, uh, I'm feeling good because you know, we
went through our the Mets went through their big slump,
and now you're going to catch it the absolute wrong time.

Speaker 3 (18:10):
So it's good.

Speaker 5 (18:12):
That's fine with me. I mean again, I just want
this pilcast team here to trade some players so are
going to be here in the future. So if it
takes a sweep going into the All Star Break for
him to even attempt to do the right thing, I'm
here for it.

Speaker 3 (18:26):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (18:26):
So you're like you're like standing on your roof with
a broom in the air, going let's go, Mets, let's go.

Speaker 5 (18:32):
I just want this bat fired. I want the team
to have a real general manager in the real front
office so they have a real chance of winning. It
was kind of like the US under Bear Halter. I mean,
and by the time they got around to doing you
know what they did, it was too late anyway. But
there comes a point in time where it's like, you
know this is you can see that incompetent fools are

(18:53):
in charge, and there's they run amok at US soccer.
I don't think they pop. I don't think you hire
anybody unless they're a complete jack asked, like, I think
that's a requirement. Well, you know, and that doesn't count
for people like poacher. They're just ranting and you know
this is just a stop gap for him, and it
was an untenable situation. But yeah, no, you know it

(19:13):
is what it is with the Oriols that they're run
by a bunch of fools who worship calculators.

Speaker 2 (19:19):
All right, so you mentioned the US men's nasty. We
share the affinity for soccer with them. How scale of
one to ten as far as how upset you are
after losing the Gold Cup one, Not upset at all?

Speaker 3 (19:31):
Ten extremely upset?

Speaker 2 (19:32):
Where are you?

Speaker 5 (19:33):
I'm not upset? I mean it was I mean, they
weren't going to win that game. They could have played
that game thirty thirty times in thirty different places, and
they weren't going to win that game. I mean, I
don't even know what that was. I mean the slop
against Guatemala, Like I don't care if it's B teams
that's like that that wasn't good enough twenty five years ago.

(19:56):
How could it possibly be the best we could do now? Yeah? Look,
I made a good amount of money fading them in
this tournament, you know, having them in the knockout rounds
to do no better than draw, having them conceding goals,
having Mexico scoring any more than once. I think Mexico wins.

(20:16):
And I'll be fading the hell out of them in
the next summer. And I don't get a great trawal
because FIFA knows, don't have to rig the hell out
of that thing to give them a fighting chance. And
even in a weak group, I don't think they're going
to advance. I just it's they don't look. I mean,
they don't have a nine, they don't have a keeper,

(20:37):
they don't have a back line. I think they have
the potential to have a midfield, but I doubt that
Bustino is going to figure it out. It's so little
time ever seeing you know, what could have been his
best eleven together in any sort of meaningful games, he
was stripped of that. I think he sees this for
what it is already. I just it's joke, man, It's

(21:01):
a joke, and it'll be fascinating to see where they
go from here after they trash out, and they're going
to accomplish their goals most likely, which would be to
just spill their coffers for decades to come from this tournament.
It'd be hard to butcher that. Now, what's going on
in the infrastructure of this country, what's called on transportation
in this country, what's caught on the weather of this country,

(21:24):
and the lack of preparedness to handle anything that might
make it a disaster, And maybe that would wake them up,
but the reality is, I can't. You know, in all
likelihood it will be a bonanza for FIFA and Cocitas
and US Soccer, and so they'll just continue with the

(21:47):
nepotism and cronyism and backslapping and just absolute greed overall
else that has led to this program having this sort
of stasis and backwardness and just systemic rot that's set in.

(22:07):
And like two thousand and two feels like fifty years ago,
you know what I mean? Then the hope that was
there and what could have been in that tournament, of
what was in that tournament and what the future looked
like coming out of that tournament, it feels like it
feels like a lifetime ago.

Speaker 4 (22:25):
Yeah, and twenty years ago, US man soccer could compete
with literally anybody Spain, whoever. We're speaking with Jason locking
for I'm Steven. We're talking about this before NFL because
the Gold Cup final was just yesterday on Fox TV
with the US two to one loss to Mexico in Houston.
The US Mexico to the co hosts for the World
Cup next summer. Already, I am hearing some people Jason

(22:47):
b a little too positive in my opinion about the
US chances next summer because address these specifically, Well, it
wasn't all our best out there. We're going to be
getting ring veterans back. The roster will be better. I'm
not convinced the roster will be better because the veterans
already lost back to back games early this year.

Speaker 5 (23:06):
Well, it'll be the roster will be better. I mean
that that was a joke what they ran out there.
It's just it wasn't even good enough against Guatemala on
Costa Rica.

Speaker 4 (23:17):
Like, so, yeah, penalty kicks.

Speaker 5 (23:19):
It has to be. It has to be better than that,
and it will be better than that, but it won't
be remotely good enough. I mean, the two players from
that team who best distinguished themselves were two who already
played regularly in Europe too, who were expected to be
the best tool on that team. One of them, Chris Richards,
has been a stalwart for them for a while and

(23:40):
he's their number one center back and I don't think
there was a ton of question about that before this tournament,
and I think he further solidified it. And Malik Killman,
there's always been questions about Wow, Like you watch him
play for his club teams and you're like there's a
lot there and he hadn't been able to find his
way with this team and he did in this tournament.
Other than that, like peelunis seeing the pitch, I mean,

(24:01):
I love, It's a great story, you know, like I'm
into it. It's fine for what it is. If he
shoes the pitch in the in the world cumpets because
they're down three niling and folks likes him and he
puts them in there in garbage time. But like that
that none of us is carrying over like this mean
that that that's a that was a joke. I mean

(24:21):
that that team couldn't get possession against Guatemala in a
knockout game on home turf in what became a road
game like that that reminded me of stuff from the eighties, Like,
so the roster will be better, but the level of
competition will be far higher, and there'll be so much

(24:42):
more at stake. And this is the least unclutched group
of fake Golden Generation players are ever seen in my life.
And maybe they try a little harder and maybe they
care a little more, but they don't even really seem
to like each other. They don't even seem to have
fun when they put the US kit on. And I
don't think any of that's getting solved in eleven months.

(25:03):
So there's nothing to be carried over from this Gold Cup.
There was no rediscovery, there was no Yeah. I mean
they had a bit of a work rate that that
would be necessary and that's still again and carry them
to be the better team against Guatemala in the knockout
game on home turf. They survive if they clung on
for dear life, like get out of here, man, get

(25:25):
that slop out of my face.

Speaker 2 (25:27):
Jay's locking for our guest Jason Smith, Steve de Sag're here,
Fox Sports Radio, All right now, as we're getting ready
for the for camps to start in.

Speaker 3 (25:35):
A few weeks.

Speaker 2 (25:37):
You know, I feel like every few days the Shador
Sanders narrative changes. Looked really good in mini camp and
he was throwing and now suddenly it's hey, maybe he's
the fourth best quarterback on the roster. Maybe he's going
to negotiate with the CFL and wind up there for
a few weeks.

Speaker 3 (25:53):
Like what are you hearing?

Speaker 5 (25:54):
Is?

Speaker 2 (25:55):
Is is where things stand right now?

Speaker 3 (25:56):
With that?

Speaker 5 (25:58):
That's nothing, There's nothing happening. You know, they're not doing anything.
Everybody's on vacation. He's going to be there for camp.
It'll play out. It's funny. I had a long talk
with a high ranking official for a team that drafted
a quarterback pretty high to shit, and I was like, dude,
what was your experience like with this and what do

(26:20):
you think is going to happen in Cleveland? And he's like,
when you're the product of being basically raised in a
weird bubble where your dad's ther only coach your whole life.
Oh and he happens to be you know, you know,
one of the last two sport players and a guy
with something of a two way player and obviously he's
one of the best football players of all time, and

(26:41):
you kind of bounce around all these different schools and
you don't really have a home and you're surrounded by cameras.
Your whole life and your whole sort of childhood has
been a reality show or a potential reality show like that.
That's gonna it's going to work you in some ways.
But like he's like not an unfixable ways and in
a market like that, and if they bring him along

(27:02):
the right way and he's like, look, Stefanski and Andrew
Berry are smart enough to do that and to get
them as low as they got him, they'll have a
plan for him. And if that kid stick to that plan,
he won't play much this year, but it'll have a
chance to be a starter for them, and if you
can get his head right, win some football games with them,
because there is a level of talent there and there's

(27:23):
a high understanding of the sport of football. But he's
got to mature and he's got to he's got to,
you know, get away from some of the things that
he's been around his whole life and sort of get
out of that cacoon. And that looks like again, in
this executive estimation to be a good group of people
from Stefanski again to the front office who he thought

(27:44):
could develop him, so that you know, it all sounded
pretty reasonable to me. Now, could that have happened in
New York? You know, with Tamus and Russ already there
and the media circus that's always sort of there, and
with coach, you know, a coach who's coming in fighting
for his job and people thought would have already been fired,

(28:07):
but probably not. But yeah, I mean, he wasn't even
the first quarterback they drafted. So if he does nothing
this year but look good to them and practices that
nobody in the media ever sees it's a self team
quarterback for your fifth round picks, that's good enough. Like
that's plenty good enough. And if he has to play,
they'll probably be pretty smart about when they get around

(28:29):
to that happening. And you know, could he win a
game or two with them this year? I mean, I
don't know. I don't think they're winning that many games
with anybody's the quarterback this year. So no, I don't
think he's going to the CFL. And I think it's
going to take a long while for this story to.

Speaker 4 (28:45):
Be written as we head toward the NFL season. I
think nationally Jason people were surprised by the Washington Commanders
and entertained by their season, not just the postseason run
the NFC. He certainly has enough competition, though, wouldn't you say,
would you say they can duplicate the Commanders next season,
the kind of season they just had and what kind

(29:06):
of season for the quarterback?

Speaker 5 (29:08):
No, I don't think they'll duplicate the season. It's not
to say that I think they're going to have massive regression,
and I think the quarterback is special. But I do
think they kept some guys there who were old before
they got there, and now they're a year older, and
that usually in this sport was a young man's game.

(29:29):
That that'sn't come at a cost. But not going to
sneak up on anybody this year. Everybody will have spent
the offseason studying everything Kingsbury did. I still don't think
they really have pass rushers. I don't think they have
enough fight on defense. They'll be playing tougher teams, so no,
I don't think they're going to go as far as
they did last year in the playoffs. I don't think
they're going to win as many regular season games. I'm

(29:52):
also not going to say there's no chance that you
know that they're not in the playoffs. And I still
think they're the second best team in that division, and
I think they probably did get in the postseason. But
I know, I don't think they're going to duplicate what
they did last season. But that franchise has come leaps
and bounds in every way, shape and form from just

(30:14):
a couple of years ago when they were still you know,
in the death strip of Van Sneyder. They got to
get the stadium things sorted out, and that seems a
little issier now than it may have a few months back.
But like from everything football, football operations, coaching staff, quarterback, marketing, branding,

(30:35):
that they're in a far better place than they've been.
I mean, I mean thirty years.

Speaker 2 (30:43):
He's on Twitter at Jason lock and four that is
at Jason Locke and Foura Jay as always, Buddy, appreciate it, man,
we'll talk next week.

Speaker 3 (30:50):
Good luck against the Mets this week.

Speaker 5 (30:52):
Hey, I'll be betting. I'll be betting that run line,
all right.

Speaker 2 (31:00):
Always a great visit with Jason Lockin fora We got
more NFL on the way. But right now Steve de
Seger has what's trending in the wide world of sports,
and mercifully for the Dodgers, that game is over.

Speaker 4 (31:12):
Yeah, and there's another one tomorrow. Happy Jacob de gram Day.
By the way, He's pitching at Anaheim for the Texas
Rangers tonight, and you know what, he is allowed a
home run to his former Battery mate Travis Darnow. It's
Texas four to three over the Angels in the bottom
of the third. Corey Seger a two run homer in
the first for Texas. Bottom of the ninth, Marlins lead

(31:32):
at Cincinnati five to one, Guardians holding on top of
the ninth at Houston six to five. Houston just completed
a three game sweep of the Dodgers in LA. And
it's believe it or not, you Darvish on the mound.
It's San Diego tonight's season debut. After the elbow inflammation,
Diamondbacks lead to one at San Diego at the end
of three, Giants won nothing over the Phillies now into

(31:53):
the fourth inning. Everything else on the Monday night schedule
is a final, including Milwaukee starting its home series again
with an emphatic victory nine to one. The Dodgers have
lost four straight now. The Eldeyoshinobu Yamamoto, an All Star pitcher,
entered with an ERA of two and a half, but
he was out in the first inning. Allowed five runs
forty one pitches. Toronto won its ninth straight game eight

(32:16):
four at the White Sox Hose Burrio's pitch six innings
for the win Kansas City nine three over the Pirates,
who lost four in a row, but at least they scored.
They got shut out three straight days at Seattle. Over
the weekend, Boston won its fourth straight game, nine to
three against Colorado. The Rockies record now twenty one and seventy.
Detroit meanwhile an impressive fifty eight and thirty four this season.

(32:38):
Tigers won their fourth straight, beating Tampa Bay five to one.
The National's name Miguel Cairo as interim manager Dave Martinez
was fired Sunday. The Twins. Byron Buxton will be in
next Monday's home run derby in Atlanta. He's a Georgia native.
The Orlando Magic gave Paula Banco a five year MAX
extension worth at least two hundred thirty nine million dollars.

(32:58):
Mclippers traded Norman Powell to the Heat. It's a three
way deal. The guy comben to the Clippers is John Collins,
who just averaged nineteen points eight rebounds a game. Utah's
involved and gets Kevin Love, Kyle Anderson and a second
rounder WNBA Atlanta over Golden State earlier tonight. The only
other games at Phoenix, Mercury lead forty two to thirty

(33:20):
one against Dallas late in the second quarter. At the
Women's Euros, Spain won six' to two Against Belgium portugal
with a late goal Surprised italy won to. One and At,
wimbledon number one Seed Yanick center advanced to the quarterfinals.
Win his, opponent who was up two sets to, none was.
Injured back to, You.

Speaker 2 (34:57):
Day he's here For mexico help a lot of the
Fake now it's.

Speaker 3 (35:00):
Hoped did it take the?

Speaker 7 (35:01):
Fuckings And alvarez the fly cops up For Offside mexico
has had multiple goals ruled out for offside at this,
tournament and he's having a look at this right. Now
yet we're not looking for clearing obvious here as who
would AT? Mls what is looking for the right? Decision
and it is a good. Goal it is A mexico.
Goal it is Zin alvarez who's Given mexico the lad

(35:25):
with twelve minutes to.

Speaker 2 (35:26):
Play oh, no we suck, again Big fox on the.

Speaker 3 (35:30):
Call, Yeah United states just ran out of.

Speaker 4 (35:34):
Game, yeah that's what happens when you score in the
fourth minutes and then play defense for the other NINETY i.

Speaker 2 (35:38):
Can't, yeah and you know how Many United states men's
games over the last like twelve years has that been the.
Case we score in the first few, minutes look like
the greatest team in the dempse Goal, yeah nothing? Else,
yeah then good. Luck oh there's eighty six minutes. Left,
yah you mean the game doesn't just. End it's not
first team to score. Win by the, way it was
first team to score. Wins we would have a couple
of ward would be.

Speaker 4 (35:58):
Great. Sure, YEAH i like. That we played the actual
cut to hear how it was at The Houston Texans
stadium last. Night because many people have commented on. It
that's just one of THE nfl stadiums that's going to
be used for The World cup next. Summer that was
A World cup atmosphere that was, sensational seventy one thousand
people for. That The Gold, cup in case you don't,
know that's our region's, championship held every couple of years

(36:20):
since nineteen ninety, one usually With mexico AND us in the,
final and usually With mexico the. Winner since two thousand and,
Nine mexico has won six of the last nine. TOURNAMENTS
us took the other. Three notable this year is because
they're co hosting The World. Cup most of the games
in THE, us some In, mexico some In. Canada but
as co, hosts you automatically get into The World cup next.

(36:42):
Summer so this was the last competitive match for those
two sides before The World. Cup it's nothing but exhibitions
and setting your roster until.

Speaker 3 (36:50):
Then, yeah it's gonna be. Easy it's gonna be easy
for us now we're on easy.

Speaker 2 (36:54):
Street.

Speaker 4 (36:54):
Yeah you know what's easy is going through a tournament
Against haiti And trinidad In guatemala and thinking you accomplished
something by making the.

Speaker 2 (37:03):
Final Yew i'll tell you, WHAT i am not as
bummed about this as as many other people, are which
we'll get to coming up next. Hour i'm not as
bummed about losing BECAUSE i feel like there was a
Lot Like Jason lockin for is like it's, done it's.
Off i'm not as, bummed which we'll get. To but,
LOOK i promised, this so we have to talk about
how this BIG nba trade got even bigger and more. Ridiculous, Right,

(37:27):
so we had heard rumors last week The Kevin durant
to The Houston rockets trade was going to get bigger
than it was. Reported potentially seven teams are going to get. Involved,
no that will never. Happen and as this, weekend that's
exactly what did. Happen, okay seven biggest trade as far as.
Teams THE nba has seen seven teams involved in this
trade that Saw Kevin durant go To houston right now

(37:49):
as part of a sidebar the small trade today in
Which Kevin love winds up getting dealt in a separate
deal in The youtoh, yeah and he says that didn't
Think i'd be there for the math because he's only
there to make the trade work math, wise but this
is where we are in THE. Nba now he comes
only three teams To, yeah that was only.

Speaker 3 (38:07):
Three that was.

Speaker 2 (38:08):
Nothing that was that was a kid giving out. Candy
but he he hits on something that is a really big.
Thing and That if this seven team trade doesn't tell
you how ridiculously stupid THE nba trade rules, ARE i
don't know what else there is to tell. You we
no other, sports all of the, rules not just, trades but,

(38:29):
this but this whole making it work and the first
apron and the second apron in the.

Speaker 3 (38:34):
Heart if this doesn't Tell.

Speaker 4 (38:35):
Peter rightes and bird rides.

Speaker 2 (38:37):
Bad this is just and THE, nba this is what
they need to look. At it's so it's so difficult
to make trades, anyway number all the different crazy rules
they've put.

Speaker 4 (38:48):
IN i thought that trade deadline thing was a big
day for THE nba last.

Speaker 2 (38:52):
Week no other professional sport has anything even close to
you had a seven team. Trade, Man this is where
you got to look in the year and, Ago, okay
are we really doing the right thing is or do
we need to take a look at at how we
make these trades and and make it a little bit,
better a little bit easier for teams to, trade BECAUSE
i get that they had to make it a little
bit more difficult for the you, know fifteen twenty years,

(39:14):
ago because they wanted to be.

Speaker 3 (39:15):
Competitive they didn't want teams to have an. ADVANTAGE i understand.

Speaker 4 (39:18):
It salary's asked me about EVEN i get all.

Speaker 2 (39:20):
That we're so out of control with.

Speaker 4 (39:22):
This now it's a seventeen, trade And i'm certain that
five teams did not.

Speaker 3 (39:26):
Want to be.

Speaker 2 (39:26):
Involved, no but all, right well we'll do you a.
Solid you'll do us as solid at some point later.

Speaker 5 (39:31):
On like.

Speaker 2 (39:31):
That that is The that is the the utterly ridiculous
portion Of, okay this is where the. End all, right
we really need to go in here with some sort
of trade reform because this is just to. Have this
is not working and it's just getting. More what next off,
scene we're gonna get ten team. Trade we'll get attend
to out. Seven it's not let's get to a ten
team trade like this is this IS i, mean this
is you look you.

Speaker 4 (39:50):
Look be over under on a thirty team. Trade you'll
look like you're just making you get a.

Speaker 2 (39:55):
Player, yeah you get a. Player, hey don't forget it's
that mandatory trade oh, right, right, right we have.

Speaker 4 (40:00):
To trase Somebody july first every. Year just have a
mandatory thirty team. Trade.

Speaker 2 (40:05):
Yeah like the amnesty, rule, well allow you to amnesty one.
Player everybody gets to amnesty one. Player The Allan houston,
rule which The knicks did not use For Rallin. HOUSTON i,
LIKE i feel like THE nba they just seem so
small time with, This like, there we're just making up
the trade rules as we go. Along just make.

Speaker 3 (40:18):
It it also.

Speaker 4 (40:19):
Means they have a lot of incoming cash and they
have to kind of adjust things on the. Fly and
this is what you wind up. With it's like the
guy that used to, sketch you, know the uh intricate
stuff like the moving parts of a, clock except it
winds up using three four pieces of paper and it's
a construction that nobody ever envision and now you can't

(40:42):
keep it all in one. Room and it's that kind
Of this is what it's, become and it is beyond
the basic understanding of your actual fans of your. Sport
