Speaker 2 (00:22):
Every you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
I'm sorry by command to the show for a while.
I gotta call my dad and make sure he's okay
because I don't know about what's going on with him
right now. Watching that Yankee game, well that is going
on quickly.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
The best you can hope for is I mean the
reboot hasn't come out yet when Jamie Lee Curtis, But
maybe it's just some old Angela Landsman murder, she wrote,
instead of watching the Marlins and Yankees here on a
Friday night.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
For over forty years, tyre Reck's been helping customers find
the right tires for how, what and where they drive.
Ship Fast and free backed by free Road, has protection
with convenient installation options like mobile tire installation. Tyrac dot
com is the way tire buying should be well, yeah, look,
I say, everybody, uh back at back playing day three
games last night in baseball, all the new lot of

(01:15):
new players are there. ELL's Bells is already playing at
City Field. The Mets already losing in the tenth inning,
but the Yankees, who had a nine to four lead
over the Marlins, now find themselves trailing the Marlins ten
to nine after the Marlins put up six runs in
the bottom of the seventh. Uh so toours hits a
grand Slam. So all of a sudden, all the good

(01:38):
feeling like like that's why trades last. The good feeling
of trades last one day. All right, great, I'm excited,
ready for the second half. Then you go out, you
lay an egg, and that next game it's like, ah,
why do we make all these mooses for we just stink?
Why do we do this? We're back to where we
were before. Yeah, but you still have like eighty games.
I don't care. Now it doesn't matter. We stink. Look
at this. We all this excitement after what we did

(01:59):
yesterday in the trade de line, and now we can't
even win our next game. All these other teams have quit. Yeah,
forget it. When's football starting well, I.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
Mean, you at least take some solace in the fact
that gian Carlos Stanton's back in the lineup. Sure, and
he had another home run today. I mean, I know
that's Hey. Look, I'm trying, buddy, You try to be positive.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
On itbody needs to be Nobody needs you to try
for the Yankees to be positive. No, there's other there's
other great moments of positivity. We're gonna have tonight on
the show. Nobody needs that. You need that, you know.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
And Stour's a guy, you know, he's one of those
guys that you pull as a rookie card autography like
that guy's twenty seven, Yeah, twenty seven. He's running four
home runs now, sure, so, I mean he's having himself
one hell of a year. And look, hate watching the
Yankees is definitely a very doable thing. It's got like
when people get mad about the Dodgers beat the Rays

(02:49):
five nothing today, Clayton Kershaw getting it done and and
but everybody wants to see them vanquished. So yesterday was
a lot of celebration. They did what for the trade deadline?
They were wishian hoping. Meanwhile, the Cubs are asleep over
there but wishing and hoping. Ha, and then they go
and win because again Clayton kershop pitching, like you know,
he's turned back the clock another seven years. So all

(03:11):
of that to say, you know, with second half begins
even though there's only what fifty five games are so
left for all these teams.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
Oh, that's good. That's a good way to be positive there. Okay,
I like that. I like that. That's good.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
I like that well a little bit. Right, take the good,
you take the bad. Andrew Vaughns a superstar after leaving
the White Sox. So I mean all of that plays
together into what is a beautiful weekend because it's also
now officially football season.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
Yeah, and it talked about yesterday, So that's where we're at.
It's here, and boy do we have a huge NFL
story that has been evolving over the course of the day.
The best defensive player in the NFL says he no
longer wants to be a Dallas Cowboy. Micah Parsons, in
a situation that has been percolating for the past few months,

(03:59):
wants a contract extension and no longer is this a
tenable situation. He puts out a message on social media
that yes, I wanted to be here. I did everything
I could to show that I wanted to be a
cowboy and wear the star on my helmet. Unfortunately, I
no longer want to be here right now. There's a
lot of he said. He said with this because you

(04:20):
want to go back and over the course of this
story that has been evolving over the course of the
past few months, look, Parsons wanted to stay. The Cowboys
said they wanted to sign him. Apparently a few months ago,
Parsons negotiated what the Cowboys thought was his new contract
without his agent present, which, okay, you never do that,
So that's on Mikah Parsons. But since that happened, there

(04:41):
has not been any conversation because after Parsons talked to
the Cowboys, the Cowboys thought we had a done deal.
Parsons agent called to say no, there's still some negotiating
left to be done, and the Cowboys said, no, we
have a deal. Since then, relationships have deteriorated. Jerry Jones
has talked about the need for Parsons stay healthy, and
you'd never see Jerry Jones take shots at anybody that

(05:03):
he wants to sign to a long term deal and
things have been boiling over. Some of its negotiation, some
of it's the art of the deal. But now you
get to a point no matter what side you take
on this, no matter you believe. Michah Parsons said, listen,
we've been above board with the Cowboys the whole time,
and the Cowboys are being bad or the Cowboys are saying, hey, listen,
we had a deal, and now suddenly everything changed. He

(05:24):
wanted more money because since we negotiated what we thought
was a deal, other star defensive players got a lot
of money. Right. We watched three new players signed contracts,
including TJ. Watt getting over thirty million dollars a year.
So maybe this is part of Hey, cowboys thought they
had a deal, but now maybe Micah Parsons wants to
reneg on that. There's a lot of he said, he said,

(05:44):
we're going to get into right. There's a lot of
back and forth. But the bottom line is this right
looking at this, is this a negotiation?

Speaker 4 (05:51):
No?

Speaker 1 (05:52):
Is this something that can be saved? No, Because you
had Micah Parsons say on social media, I no longer
want to be here. That is the bridge that you
need to burn if you are a star and you
want out. We talk about it with the NFL, with
the NBA players all the time, right, Kevin Durant, Lebron James,
all these other players can say, yeah, my agent is

(06:12):
potentially looking at fits sources. But if you're a star
and you want to get dealt you have to burn
that bridge. Because that's what we see in the NBA.
That's what we're seeing now. Michah Parson's saying, quote, I
no longer want to be here. You don't come back
from that to say I no longer want to be
held to closed door negotiations without my agent present. I
no longer want shots taken at me for getting injured.

(06:33):
We'll laying it on the line for the organization. Are
fans of my teammates? This is I want out. I
no longer want to be here. Whoever side you're on
with this, this is untenable and Micah Parsons should stick
to this. Instead, somebody's gonna pay you. Don't worry about it.
You want to get paid like those guys I get.
You're the best defensive player in the NFL. You're the
guy I would pay more than anybody because of your

(06:54):
talent and your age. Right, some of these guys getting
big money. Look, TJ. Watt deserved that money four years ago,
doesn't deserve that money now. But the Steelers, you know, hey,
we like to reward guys like this. Somebody else will
pay you. Stick to it. You will get it. It's
in the best interest of both both sides. Now if
you move on. This has not been a sweetheart negotiation
where it's business behind closed doors. But in public, Hey,

(07:15):
Jerry Jones is saying nice things about you like he
always did about Dak Prescott or CD Lamb or Ezekiel Elliott.
This has been I worry about you know, we paid
a guy last year that got hurt. You gotta be
on the field. And Michael Parson's got hurt last year.
Gotta be on the field. WHOA what happened to Jerry Jones?
I always like to take care of my stars. This
is untenable from both sides. This is not something that

(07:36):
can be solved. Micah Parsons should go to a new team.
He will go to a new team. And for the Cowboys, hey,
it's better for that. You have a lot of holes
to fill in other parts of your team. You clearly
haven't been great with him in his prime. So are
you gonna be better with him in the back half
of his prime? Probably not for both sides. It is
time to move on. Parsons needs to be someplace else.

(07:56):
Cowboys need to move on, Parsons saying it he had
crossed the room with I no longer want to be here.
That's the biggest thing. He needs to go. He needs
to get out, and this needs to happen.

Speaker 3 (08:06):
You know, my favorite thing to surface because I mean,
there's so many layers to this.

Speaker 1 (08:11):
It's so much fun. You know.

Speaker 3 (08:12):
Micah Parsons on podcasts in the past taking shots of
teammates and team makeup and everything.

Speaker 1 (08:19):
And one that came back.

Speaker 3 (08:21):
When Nico IAmA Maliava was talking about renegotiating deals and
holding out a spring practice quote, I mean this goes
to college football, but the start was college football a joke.
Now you all mind's well, college into a semi pro
league actually whole players accountable to the contracts they sign.

Speaker 1 (08:42):
I'm Micah, there's one more year. It's one more year
on your deal.

Speaker 3 (08:46):
Oh you know what else, if you really want to
play this, they've got a couple of years of franchise tags.
If you just want to sit around and really make it.
I want to know how you got to the conversation.
I know Jerry likes the sidle up and had the
conversation with the player thing, but all those months ago,
why is this becoming an issue? Oh, I don't want
to he doesn't want to talk to my agent. Now,

(09:07):
if this was a deal, I mean, Micah hasn't been shy.
We would have heard about this a long time ago.
So evidently you thought it was okay too back whenever
the in principle agreement was agreed to, right, and obviously
the market changes, and I think you know how you
get pasted it all. What's Miles Garrett getting per year

(09:29):
at a dollar? And then he'll feel loved and here's
a cake, and everybody cell the brads and you move on.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
But in the interim, yeah, it's great theater. It's great theater.
There's still this we're still in the second act. Yeah,
well look, but that's why I said it. It doesn't
matter who's look, because there's blame that we can break that.
Like I said, you never negotiate a contract without your
agent present. Whatever situation is, Michah Parsons has to be
smart enough to know, hey, whether I'm walking in there
of my own volition because I want to get something done,

(09:58):
or the Cowboys decided to call him saying let's get
him in front of us, he would will agree to.
You have to know if you're Micah Parsons. Yeah, we
could talk about anything you want to. But my agent
does the money right, Like I learned that a long
time ago. We can tie whatever conversation you want to
have about my role, what I'm doing on the field,
on everything else. But my agent does the money right.
That's why you have an agent. So, yeah, is that

(10:19):
his fault? Yeah? But could that be the Cowboys trying
to do something. Yeah, I'll be the first one to
tell you. I don't know. But but all of that
is irrelevant because he said I no longer want to
be here. This is what stars do, James Harden. That's
how we got out. That's how he gets out of
every place, saying this place sucks. I don't want to
be here anymore. This, oh plays is off. Okay, that's

(10:41):
how you get out. What you say, this situation is untenable.
I cannot be here anymore. That's what gets stars traded, right.
This is why Lebron is still a Laker because he
hasn't come out and said I'm done, and he's getting
close to that point with now we'll get to that
part later on in the show with all this Clippers stuff.
But like this is what you If you want out,
you have to say I want out. If Jannis wants
to get traded from the Bucks, he's gotta say I

(11:04):
want out. It doesn't work here anymore. That's how it goes,
and they will find a way to trade you. That's
That's the whole big deal with the Knicks and their
coaches that they kept calling these teams for permission. The
teams kept saying no if they If the guy wanted
to coach the Knicks, all he had to do is
say I want to talk to the Knicks, Well, now
we gotta let you go because you can't come back
to this team. Right. You have to be the one
to stand up sometimes be the bad guy and say

(11:25):
this is no longer tenable. I want out. Crazy thing
is for the Cowboys, it's no longer to the point
where all the fans are gonna say, well, screw you,
we don't want you anyway. It's gonna be Look what
Jerry Jones is doing now. He's pushing bike and partsons out,
so he's gonna win the he's gonna win the battle
of getting the trade, and he's gonna win the battle
in the media because everybody blames the Cowboys and Jerry
Jones for everything. But that's what people don't don't see

(11:46):
with this. You worry too much about a signing, blame
and who goes where. And it's a great conversation, but
it comes down to it, I no longer want to
be here. That's it. That means trade, and both sides
are moving on for a fret start. He'll get paid,
the Cowboys will have money to go spend and other
bad places, ringing other players they probably shouldn't buy, but anyway,
but it will work and both sides need to move on.

(12:08):
And this is that moment he drew that line in
the sand and he said that's it is.

Speaker 3 (12:13):
He gonna lay down and kick his feet and hold
his breath and say.

Speaker 1 (12:16):
I'm leaving home.

Speaker 3 (12:17):
You don't love me anymore, I'm going away. And you
pack a couple of toys in your backpack and you
start out.

Speaker 1 (12:25):
Are upset at it. You're upset at him, aren't you.
Why are you so upset? Stand? Why are you so mad?
You wanted to be full of positivity on a Friday. Oh,
here he is in the sand and he's playing with
some kind of sand castles.

Speaker 3 (12:37):
No, he didn't build any sand castle. Whatever it is,
nicely done. Let's quote lay miss all night. I'll start
quoting some of the Jesus Christ Superstar lines for their
performance out here in la.

Speaker 1 (12:49):
And just go on for John Fault shown is not
a bad idea, TJ all right, good, not bad? Young?

Speaker 3 (12:57):
He did, he did his work. How many years was
he in the in the brig? I mean like it
was a long time. It wasn't a long time that
he was there a long time? Like like, look, it's
just the next escalation of things again. I want to
know why his agent hasn't been part of this the
whole time. Like that's the thing that doesn't make any
sense to me in this timeline. And where all right, Micah,

(13:18):
go do this? How about how about the agent now
speaks up?

Speaker 1 (13:21):
What's it? Muleta?

Speaker 3 (13:22):
Uh, he's a big big deal in athletes first, right,
there's a there's a big time guy. He's been sitting
on the sidelines this whole time. How's he been Yeah, look,
it's it's ridiculous. So like this, everybody screwed this five
year old tantrum that and that mic is I don't
want to be here anymore.

Speaker 1 (13:41):
And I get it.

Speaker 3 (13:41):
He put a lot of thought into that ig post
or wherever the hell that originally appeared, and good for him.
You had to scroll and you got extra clicks for
it and whatever. Maybe he maybe why do you say
it's a tantrum?

Speaker 1 (13:52):
I mean, this is something that that both sides that
they've been working on for months and it just hasn't happened.
So I'd be like, Okay, it's not It's not something
he walked in today and they said, oh sorry, yeah,
we're not doing it. Well, I'm going on social media
right now. This has been Hey, every they've been trying
to do this for the last few months. And I said,
both sides have to get have to take blame on this.
I mean, I can't sit here and say that it's

(14:13):
all Partson's fault. It's all he's got. But this is
how it works. This is how players get traded. But
this is how play in all sports. This is how
players get traded. Nobody trades their stars unless unless they
know they have to. And this is the only way
to know you have to is if a guy says,

(14:34):
I absolutely want out, I want out, I can't be
here anymore. That's how it happens everywhere now because to
try to get it's it's very difficult to get stars.
It's really really difficult. So teams have decided to take
the strategy of all right, well, okay, until you tell
me you want out. Guess what you're you're gonna be here? Okay,
well y'all tell me you want out. Now we gotta

(14:54):
do something.

Speaker 3 (14:57):
Yeah, I'm curious to see what the next act is
from Jerry on this one, as to what the next
public statements are from him, or whether he does a
dramatic reading.

Speaker 1 (15:06):
Of these or wherever it goes through.

Speaker 3 (15:10):
But again, I unless I missed it in my drive
to the studio. Again, who were the agent he's been sidelined?
I mean, look, he Micah makes it sound like they
locked him in a room and wouldn't let him talk
to Now you already used your one phone call, you
get nothing else that that's the way he's describing this.

Speaker 1 (15:32):
Am I wrong?

Speaker 3 (15:33):
Like, isn't that really what he's sayings like or it
sounds like they cut they cut my cell reception while
I was in that room with these guys talking about terms.

Speaker 1 (15:44):
Now is it now? Is it that? Or is it? Hey?
After this happened, we kept trying to contact them, and
they didn't get back with us. Like we kept trying.
My agent kept trying to call the Cowboys, kept saying,
but we're not gonna say that. Don't make it sound
like that's what he said. He tried to engage in
the Cowboys saying nothing, wouldn't call anybody back. They wouldn't
talk to my agent, They wouldn't engage in. They thought
we had a deal, and we're not gonna talk about

(16:06):
a deal because we thought we had one, Like, I mean,
this is I mean, look, it's a lot of he said,
they said. But but in the end, all that doesn't matter.
They have passed the point of no return. Now the
best player in the NFL needs to be traded. He
wants to be traded. He has thrown that line in
the sand. I don't know how you come back from this,
How do you come back from I don't want to
be here anymore too. Oh hey, I was just really yeah,

(16:28):
you know that was a thing that was Friday. So
but now I feel much better today because now all
guaranteed money I'm getting, Like, I mean, this is you've
had a lot of time on ills, man, but you
had a lot. Well, the thing is you'll get who's
not gonna pay Michael Parsons. I mean, who's not gonna
pay any thirty thirty one other teams in the NFL
will pay my Ca Parsons? Right the Cowboys the only
one saying, hey, we have the best defensive player in

(16:49):
the NFL. We're fighting a way to not pay him
and lose him for nothing. But like this, this now
has to happen. He's gonna he'll get paid someplace else. Now.
Is he gonna be as happy as he is being
a cowboy because he really enjoyed being a cowboy, Like
maybe it's a little bit more to get used to,
but clearly he wants the bag. He's not gonna get
it here. He has said that I no longer want

(17:10):
to be here. So guess what, that's what's gotta happen. Man,
We got we gotta see a deal and that everybody
should be lining up. Hey, you don't have to give.
It's not gonna be a thing where you have to
spend so much draft pick wise because you got to
sign him to a new contract. So yeah, everybody load up, man,
Michaeh Parson's first round pick whatever it could be, with
the stipulation you're gonna sign him to a long term deal.

(17:31):
Guess what, man, I mean, Michaeh Parsons in a new
uniform is happening.

Speaker 3 (17:35):
Well, let's see, I'm trying to think of what was
the comp it was Khalil mack right, Uh when he
went from Oakland to Chicago. Was to first, a third,
a sixth, let's see, a second, and a conditional fifth.

Speaker 1 (17:50):
There's a lot.

Speaker 3 (17:51):
Yeah, so you know, hey, someone wants to come to
the table for all of that. Otherwise, Jerry seems like
the guy he'll he'll just he'll do this thing of
kicking his feet outside and hold his breath.

Speaker 1 (18:04):
Oh, he'll do the same thing. You know what. We'll
have more on this coming up next because I don't
I don't think there's any way Jerry Jones can go
through a season where Micah Parsons is the story every day?
Is he coming in? Is there anything are you trading
him like, I don't think he's gonna do.

Speaker 3 (18:17):
That, but it lets him suit up and get in
front of the microphone again. It's all his fault. We're
four nine, it's all here. He was here very better
May last year.

Speaker 1 (18:28):
He was hurt. Now he's sitting out. Look what he
did exit out about a Fresca exit swollen dome. The

Well, you know what it's called over promise. You should

(20:36):
like the excitement of a trade deadline and flushing that
excitement out the window when you lose your next game.
There is nothing like that, man, I'll tell you. Just
taking a big excitement coming into the next day, all right,
all our new players. Ah, yeah, we go and lose, Okay,
that's great, excitement's over. Well, I got White Sox Angels
socks up to nothing. Yeah, the Angels kind of went
forward to at least at least that game is still

(20:57):
up in the air.

Speaker 3 (20:58):
Yeah, you're okay, I mean you take your shots and
move on. I mean Yankees Marlins now, I mean we're
ten tens. So you got that.

Speaker 1 (21:04):
Going for you. Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (21:06):
Performances across Major League Baseball, big run explosions, sure, sure,
yeah no, but yeah, losing to the Giants, I mean,
that was a nice letter that mike Ystremsky wrote on.

Speaker 1 (21:17):
His way out of town. So that sure, sure, yeah,
you know Bronny Maurisio striking out with the bases loaded
in an at bat where he looks like he just
wanted to walk and wanted no part of it. No,
I love that. That was great. That was that was outstanding,
outstanding stuff right there.

Speaker 3 (21:30):
You need a hug, buddy, Yeah, I kind of do
you got in in a new uniform.

Speaker 1 (21:36):
Yeah, no, I'm a little upset. But he says, took
the loss. Yeah, no, he was terrible tonight. Yeah no, no, no,
he was terrible.

Speaker 3 (21:43):
He had twelve strikes and in his nineteen pitches.

Speaker 1 (21:46):
That yeah, but he was beat now but he's bet not,
I know, yeah, hug is I think I need that
positivity on a Friday. I think I needed to Friday
not happy, giving hugs all around.

Speaker 3 (21:55):
Jerry Jones, here's one for you, Michael Parsons, here's a
long one for you.

Speaker 1 (22:00):
Smith. You can have one too, not great, Bob.

Speaker 3 (22:02):
I'll have a guy playing the trumpet in the background.
We'll celebrate Chuck Manzioni for a second straight week. The
video of h celebrating his legacy was the one from
King of the Hill where someone in the town dies.
So everybody's at a funeral and he starts playing taps

(22:23):
and then drifts in too feels so good.

Speaker 1 (22:25):
Yeah yeah, and all of a sudden, everybody's kind of
rocking out. That's the Chuckster man, that's the chuckster. That's
chuck maniot. Uh So, now, look, because I'm about positivity here, Yeah,
right now, this will net. This will never happen, but
sometimes it's just fun to think about. Right, this will
absolutely never happen. But I can solve this Micah Parson's

(22:49):
issue right now. You can solve that. I can solve it, right,
I believe you can. I'm trying to solve things, right.
I'm here, I I am here. I am not just
bringing up stuff. I am here to solve problems and
solve issues. And I can do it. I Mean, he
wants out. He doesn't want to be a cowboy anymore,
he says in a post today. His contract situation did
not get resolved to how he likes it. He says,

(23:11):
I no longer want to be here. Okay, I can
solve it. And not only can I solve one problem,
I can solve two problems.

Speaker 3 (23:19):
Did he do it with the that meme that was
out there for a while. I don't really want to
go to work today. I don't want to go to
work today.

Speaker 1 (23:27):
No, I And I see, here's the thing, Like I said,
I can not only solve this one, I can solve
another problem. I can solve two problems. That I again,
it requires outside the box thinking and it won't happen,
but it be the best thing for both of these teams.
And and look, honestly, it would be the best thing
for us, because boy, we love seeing that.

Speaker 3 (23:46):
Can you do an AI version of Micah Parsons singing
Johnny Paycheck's take this job and shove it.

Speaker 1 (23:53):
I'm sure somebody can do that. That would be I can't,
but somebody can. I mean, how about can we get
him to do that with the audience? Can a little bit?
And congratulations Johnny Paycheck getting getting a mentioned. I've got
a big deal bringing up ball sts guys Friday. Here
we go right and tell me and this solves everybody's problem.

(24:13):
Micah Parsons for Terry McLaurin Boom Done. Two guys unhappy
with their contract situations. They both want out. Obviously it
will never happen because they're both in the NFC East.
But just think about it, and one guy has significantly
more value, right, But think about it. But if you're
unhappy and you want out, Okay, are you gonna do
any better player wise than Michaeh. Parsons if for Terry McLaury, No,

(24:35):
of course not. Are you do any better player wise
for Parsons and mclark. No, you're not gonna do any
better player wise for either of these guys. So figure
out whatever draft compensation needs to go back to the
Cowboys for Parsons and mclauren, and think about what this
would be for both teams. Right, what's Washington's big Achilles heal?
Their defensive line? It's terrible, right, you've you've already. I've

(24:56):
read so many articles in the off season, you know
on this is how the Commanders come back to Earth.
They just get their defensive line is going to get
attacked all year, Right, So all of a sudden you
put the best defensive lineman, best defensive end in the game,
best defensive player on that line, and suddenly things look
pretty good in the game, Right, Yeah, things look pretty
good for the Cowboys. You throw McLaurin out there, and

(25:18):
now it's Dak and CD and McLaurin and Pickens and
unhappy by game two. And but this year it's fine. No,
Pickens has to be happy this year if he wants,
everybody wants to goes away. Suddenly, all those hospital balls
that Dak Prescott's gonna throw over the middle of field,

(25:39):
these guys are going up and getting them. They got
to get their grabs. Think about how great and how
much fun that offense would be. How much fun the
Cowboys would be with an offense that would be nearly
unstoppable because I don't know that anybody in the NFL
would have the combination of quarterback wide receiver room like
the Cowboys would have. How much fun would that be? Again,
it would never happen, But how great with that? We

(26:00):
solve two big headaches in one in one deal. Hey,
but we both want new contracts. You know what, you
come and play for us, fear we'll talk about a
new contract end of the year. So mclaurin's got to
show up and play and and and go balls out.
Same thing from Micah Parsons. He wants a new deal Okay,
So here we are. Now. If it works out the
end of the year, all right, great. And at the
end if it doesn't, it's okay. We got a year

(26:21):
out of a guy that we that we love, getting
a year out of and instead of paying that person
thirty million dollars a year, we're gonna pay somebody else
that kind of money. And you walk away going okay,
and where he wasn't This guy wasn't gonna play for us.
We got somebody for a year that was terrific, and
either we sign him or we don't. And anyway, we
still have the thirty million dollars to go out and

(26:41):
and and fill other holes and spend somewhere else. Like
I mean it. If it wasn't for the fact that
you had both of these teams playing in the same division,
this solves everybody. You got an upset wide receiver, got
upset defensive end. Okay, we'll make the trade and we'll
figure out whatever draft compensation goes, cause the Commanders would
have to give a little bit more, obviously, But basically
it's McLaurin for a Parson's boom. I just solved two
problems one night, Happy Friday, Happy positivity on a Friday. Yeah,

(27:04):
but you know what would happen.

Speaker 3 (27:05):
Somehow Howie Roseman would get involved and the Eagles would
win the trade. Oh man, oh, I'd love to see
at they would come walking in.

Speaker 1 (27:14):
With NFC trade. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, no, And somehow
it would wind up, Yeah, Howie rose come and win
the trade, and somehow the Cowboys would end up with
the guy the Giants didn't want. That's what happened. We'd
end up with that. How do we add with Russell Wilson?
I don't know, man, we didn't want the guy. How
do we get Russell Wilson?

Speaker 3 (27:33):
Look, I like the cut of your jib. And you know,
in theory, it's all finding good. In practice, obviously it
falls apart pretty fast. But but yeah, trying to get creative.
This is where we're at in the process. What the
next iteration is. Look, I loved reading like The Long
Missive from Michael Parsons. It's better than most e books

(27:55):
that you're gonna read. I just need the audiobook to
go with it.

Speaker 1 (27:59):
And I yeah, I'm I'm not saying this is I
mean again again, it wouldn't. But sometimes things are just
fun to talk about and you have the both of
these guys that it's done. I want to want my money,
and easily their new team can say, all right, we'll
play here for a year and we'll see, well, obviously
will take care of you, okay, and if not, you'll
be a free agent. You will get money, you'll get
you'll get something from somewhere, and okay, all right, there

(28:21):
you go, and both teams get get somebody for years
out of the Cowboys having to trade Micah Parsons away
and getting a bunch of draft picks, whatever draft picks
they wind up getting, and going okay, well, now we're
clearly tanking this season because now we just let our
best bet, the best best defensive player in the NFL
go for draft picks and for the same thing for
the Commanders. Hey, we we just lost our number one receiver,

(28:42):
who again, I'm not a big fond of paying him
because he's always been good, but he's not been great. Yes,
he had thirteen touchdowns last year, that's great, but he's
still a guy that's gonna catch eighty passes. So I'm
not gonna pay that guy thirty million dollars a year.
Who's gonna be thirty years old. Not doing it but
out out. But if you can improve your team, because
clearly he obviously he'd be a great number two receiver,

(29:04):
and you're not on the hook for money this year,
why not why not play it out and do it it?
Sometimes it takes vision, so outside the box. Again, it
would never happen, but boy, this would solve it all.

Speaker 3 (29:14):
Well, it would be fun to watch Cliff Kingsbury trying
to cobble something together there because well, I agree with you,
mclaurin's not a guy that I put up atop any
of those rankings and paying him to that commensurate with
the other top receivers out there fantasy pros. He ranked
seventeenth for fantasy purposes. That thirteen touchdowns last year a

(29:38):
great outlier. Maybe it's the side of things to come,
but it would be fun to watch Cliff Kingsbury have
to sweat because he got a lot of love after
last year, waiting for it to fall apart in the
second half. It didn't for the first time in his career.
It carried through to Week seventeen and then and then
some So now, all right, do it again, and we're

(30:00):
gonna take Terry McLaurin away I don't think that would work,
but I mean just I mean, the always would be
more fun. The Commanders would be more fun because they'd
even be a bigger Super Bowl threat because you're you're
adding Micah Parsons to this team that's already supremely talented.

Speaker 1 (30:18):
Offensive me. Oh my god, I mean, this didn't solve everything.
It's solved it all.

Speaker 3 (30:22):
Twice a year you get the verbal slap fight between
the Joneses and and Micah Parsons.

Speaker 1 (30:28):
I mean, it'd be great. I mean it would, It
would be really it. Sometimes it takes so outside the
box vision to think about stuff like this. But again,
I'm gonna say it again, it's never gonna happen. It's
never gonna happen. But boy, would this make a lot
of sense.

Speaker 3 (30:41):
Now, this is the absolute opposite of one of the
best lines that my daughters and I throw around and
try to see who's watched the film and who you
know hasn't is you know they say, lax vision, no vision,
No vision here, all vision that's all you got. You
went full on on. I see the vision, I see
how this can play. But in the smoking stack conversation,

(31:05):
no vision.

Speaker 1 (31:06):
That's how it works. Uh, time now to find out
what's trending in the wide world of sports with someone
who's been called the Micah Parsons of Fox Sports Radio.
His agents tried to call the Cowboys the last few months.
They're not calling him back either. It's Steve to Sager.

Speaker 6 (31:20):
So I thought it was just because I no longer
want to be here.

Speaker 1 (31:25):
Literally, I just threw his head setting it. No, I
would say that, but Steve doesn't post on social media,
so I can't say people would know right away. He
hasn't post on social media.

Speaker 6 (31:35):
You referenced this ballgame early in the hour. It's been great,
My goodness. The Yankees have retaken the lead at Miami
twelve ten in the top of the ninth. The Yankees
had blown a six nothing lead in the fifth. Anthony
Volpi with the go ahead solo homer for the Yanks
in the top of the eighth. In the ninth, Ryan

(31:56):
McMahon an RBI single, Now Vulpi with an RBI double.
Yankees are still batting up twelve to ten at Miami
in the top of the ninth inning. The Pirates, who
won five in a row, led at Colorado nine to
nothing in the first inning. Pirates fifteen to ten over
the Rockies in the top of the sixth. Right now
the White Sox with a couple of solo homers leading

(32:18):
the Angels. Two nothing at Anaheim, top of the fourth.
Cardinals are on the board, one nothing at San Diego,
top of the fifth, A's four nothing over Arizona bottom
of the second inning. Texas at Seattle scoreless, bottom of
the second. Everything else is final. The Dodgers were five
nothing winners at Tampa Bay. Clayton Kershaw five and two
got the win six scoreless innings, no walks, Preddy Freeman

(32:40):
a homer, three RBIs ten inning wins for both Boston
and Cleveland. Kansas City won at Toronto nine to three.
San Francisco ended a six game losing streak, beating the
Mets in ten innings in New York four to three.

Speaker 1 (32:53):
The Mets were a half game.

Speaker 6 (32:55):
Over the Phillies, but the Phillies won five to four
against Detroit with two runs in the bottom of the eighth.
Then their new closer, Joan Duran got the save, needing
just four pitches for his three outs. Milwaukee won sixteen
to nine at Washington. The Brewers first in the NL
Central still a game up on the Cubs, who won
today won nothing over Baltimore. Cincinnati held on three to

(33:17):
two against Atlanta. Yes, Dallas Cowboys defensive end Micah Parsons
requested a trade, saying he no longer wants to be there.
He's entering the final year of his rookie deal. Dallas
signed offensive lineman Lyle Collins after a tryout. Free agent
wide receiver Keenan Allen visited the Chargers. He played with
the Bears last year. Vikings wide out Justin Jefferson has

(33:38):
missed a week with a strained hamstring. He worked on
the side today with trainers at practice. Cardinals wide receiver
Marvin Harrison missed practice again with a sore knee. Bucks
quarterback Baker Mayfield missed practice with a bruised hand, and
the ratings are out. The initial numbers for last night's
Pro Football Hall of Fame game as the Chargers beat
the Lions Thursday over six point two two million viewers

(34:01):
for this one. That does not include the streaming numbers,
yet highest in four years for the preseason opener. Back
to you.

Speaker 1 (34:08):
I think that's just the people and Trey Lance's family
who watched that game.

Speaker 6 (34:13):
You know, he did play pretty much every down last
year in preseason. For that I think he had a
fifty pass attempt game. It's just we're not gonna keep him.
Who cares him throwing arm falls off. We don't care here,
He's actually going for a real job.

Speaker 1 (34:29):

it's big and it's coming. We break it down next

(35:11):
right here, Jason to Mike Fox Sports Radio.

Be sure to catch live editions of the Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven

Speaker 1 (35:21):
Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with My best
friend Mike Harmon. We've turned the calendar to August and
the fortieth anniversary of this classic. Yeah, forty years dad,
who knew forty years ago? Today Marconi played the Mamba
for the first time. Don't you remember? We built this

(35:42):
city on rock and roll? But why is today significant? August? First, Okay,
what's that? There is a big headline and it's coming
our way this weekend. And I'll tell you right now
you're gonna go, oh yeah. And now is when things
are gonna get really interesting because starting tomorrow, Luka Doncich

(36:05):
can sign his contract extension with the Los Angeles Lakers.
And if you think this is not happening, you have
not been reading the tea leaves over the course of
the past couple of weeks. Luca's back in the United States.
Why he's back in the United States? Why? Why is
he back now? Why is he on the Today Show
on Wednesday? And they asked about his contract and he said, ah,

(36:25):
I can't say anything yet this weekend. Maybe it's tomorrow,
Maybe it's Sunday. Luca's gonna have his new contract with
the Lakers. The only question is gonna be for how long.
I would have to say probably three years, some kind
of three years or two and one, because after his
tenth year he can gain the most money, being ten
years in the NBA be an unrestricted free agent, he

(36:46):
can do that, and because it's based on time on
time in the league. So I would say it's some
kind of three year deal for him or two in
one that turns into a three year deal. But this
is absolutely happening. There's no way it doesn't happen. If
he wasn't going to sign, we wouldn't be getting this
right now. This would it would be we would not
be hearing from him at all. He would not be

(37:08):
talking to anyone. The Lakers would be nervous. They'd be
walking around with their with their butt cheeks clenched all
throughout wherever. Uh they're walking around now, and Mark Walter
and Genie Bus everybody's going, oh my god, is it
gonna happen. But the fact that there's been no talk
about it, there's been no sense that he's hiding from them.
He's here, he's talking about it. On television. This is

(37:30):
gonna happen. It would be an absolute embarrassment for the Lakers.
And at this point Lucas says, Yeah, that's great, I'm
gonna play it out. WHOA. Then suddenly every agent in
the NBA is going on. Every team is saying, call
Luca's agent, get ready, call him because after this year,
we are going all into this guy. You saw the
body transformation that he had. Luca's not doing that body
transformation and now we're seeing everywhere if he's not doing

(37:52):
it to get a big contract out of the Lakers
this year, he's not doing it right. I'm sorry, he's not. Oh,
I'm gonna wait and play. No. No, he can get
big money. He had to say farewell to that big
Max deal when he got traded away from the Mavericks.
Can't do anything about that now. But the next three
years close to fifty million dollars a year. Yeah, that's
gonna happen. It's gonna happen this weekend. And then the

(38:14):
Lebron James is he gonna stay or is he gonna go?
Story starts to get really fun.

Speaker 3 (38:19):
Yeah, it's a fun week for Luca Danchets. Obviously, we
talked about the h the men's health spread and look
how lean and mean he is. And he's been doing
all his media this week. It's a lot of the
Jordan brand initiatives. He was in Chicago and with the
Kenwood Academy kids, so like that became a big deal
because it's also where the National Sports Collector's Convention is

(38:41):
right now, and Brady's showing up and all the luminaries
but posing for pictures, shaking hands, kissing babies. Did the
historical boat ride was in New York, as you said
today's show, so you know, taking his victory lap for
what is you know, it's Los Angeles now is his city?
You know, I'm captain now he literally was on a boat.

(39:02):
I mean, come on, it writes itself, but it's it's
all leading up to You've heard player after player that
has joined the Lakers this offseason say that's the first
guy they heard from. All right, that's the guy that
talked to me, that's the guy that was recruiting me.
And when stuff was signed, I heard from him, right
even going to you know eight and all these other guys.

(39:24):
It became a all right, Luca Luca Luca as if
they were told, all right, you'll get an extra cup
of coffee and a gift card for your favorite coffee
purveyor if you keep telling us how great a guy
Luca is.

Speaker 1 (39:38):
It almost became the I know he has to feed.

Speaker 3 (39:40):
Me the ball, so I'm gonna say all nice things
because it's his squad and he's building up to it,
and tomorrow we get the next step. The Lebron stuff
circulating and percolating in the background, back to the coffee
thing is fun and exciting and it's great theater.

Speaker 1 (39:59):
But yeah, it's Lucastown. It's Lucas time. Yeah. I mean, look,
if the Lakers no longer need to feel nervous, right
because it's it's going to happen. I get why you
were probably nervous a couple of months ago, not knowing
the Lebron situation. But they have done everything they needed
to do to say you are our present, you are

(40:19):
our future. We are gonna make sure that you are
involved in everything we are doing. And that was so
incredibly smart, because yeah, he could have easily said, yeah,
I don't know, man, the team is getting sold and
I don't know Lebron and all this stuff I'm gonna
wait a little bit now. They have done everything to
do and I give the Lakers a lot of credit
for him to commit. Now again, it's only gonna be
probably three years, but this is gonna happen. It would

(40:40):
he would be He would be in communicado and out
of the public eye if it wasn't maybe late tomorrow night,
maybe Sunday. It's gonna happen.

Speaker 3 (40:46):
But even going back to the team sale and everything else,
you can't tell me he and his agent weren't apprized
of every bit of that right because you have to
make sure all those bridges are nice and sturdy. As
you get towards an offseason, you can't have a bunch
of ill will. Because you saw what happened Old Nico
back in Dallas.

Speaker 1 (41:04):
Yeah, yeah, it happened. Exit out about a Fresca exit
swalling down. The Jason Smith Show with my best friend
Mike Harmon. Coming up next, we get into a big
story out of the NFL where one quarterback in a
big pressure filled years said today, I don't feel the pressure.
