(00:52):
buying should be. Now, we got Rick Buker coming up
in twenty minutes. Well, yeah, latest on. Hey, we're gonna
wind up seeing a big contract gets signed the next
twenty four hours.

Speaker 3 (01:02):
What does that mean?

Speaker 1 (01:03):
But I gotta say this right and really, positivity promoting
positivity lack of positivity has kind of been a thing
since we opened the microphones.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
On tonight's show, right, we talked about positivity.

Speaker 4 (01:16):
I'm all about positivity. I'm all about having fun. I'm
like champ time man.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
Now you're not really you were. You were very anti positivity.
You were very anti Micah Parsons. You talked about whatever
it was with him throwing a fit with a sand
castle and it's okay, And then I.

Speaker 4 (01:30):
Mean, just because you took it as a negative, I
was just kind of laying as it was.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Oh, Micah Parson's throwing a fit, is he gonna he's
gonna throw his sand toys out?

Speaker 3 (01:40):
Because I'm not gonna give more money.

Speaker 4 (01:41):
You kept putting him on the sand I just had
walking out the door like he was running away.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
I had to remind you about positivity. I had to
put more money where my mouth is about positivity because
the way the Yankees lost tonight. But you know, if.

Speaker 4 (01:55):
It's not positive, shot and Freud and you running amok?
I got and how many times did you text your dad?

Speaker 3 (02:04):
You know what? The number?

Speaker 1 (02:05):
The number is not important. The point is I reached
out to him after the way the Yankees lost this
game and I to the Marlins, which was unbelievably awful
and a game that could absolutely be a game that
you look back and say that sunk our season the
way the Yankees lost this game. And then we had
the Rockies win this game seventeen to sixteen about five

(02:27):
minutes ago over the Pirates, who scored nine. They were
winning nine nothing before the Rockies even came to bat
nine nothing.

Speaker 4 (02:35):
You realize, yeah, this is the Pirates have done this
in franchise history.

Speaker 3 (02:40):
A nine run lead have all been since two thousand.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
No, look, I mean and and look nine to nothing
and they can't protect a four run lead in the
top of the ninth, and and Breton Doyle hits a
two run walk off homer for the final two runs.
They win seventeen sixteen. There were forty hits in this game.
But man, and the Pirates blowing this game. This is
like in a season where things are going bad, It's like,
how could things get even worse?

Speaker 3 (03:06):
Right?

Speaker 1 (03:06):
I mean, we just lost. You didn't just this wasn't
the d This wasn't the Dodgers. We blew this game
to and Otani at three home runs or you know,
Bryce Harper hit a couple of home runs or Juan
Soto at three or no, we lost the worst team
in Major League Baseball? Who are trying to fight against
losing the most games in the.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
History of the game.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
Like, that's where we're at, that's what we're trying to
and this is the team we blew this lead to.

Speaker 4 (03:32):
Isn't that great? It's and Andrew McCutcheon turned back the clock.

Speaker 3 (03:39):
It was.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
This was like a game in Corps in the early
nineties where a five run lead felt like the game
was tied and at least one team was in double
digits at the end of the game, right like when
when you were you were doing fantasy baseball the nineties,
I'm streaming whatever position player is playing in Coors Field.
I'm just treaming that guy tonight because I know he's gonna.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
Have a big night.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
I remember writing a column and eventually there was another.
There was a show that did a thing about, you know,
a guy having issues setting a line up in his
bobbleheads talking to him. I forget about that, Thanks for
reading back in the day. But it was a Yahoo
column and one of the bobbleheads that was talking to
me was and Ellis Burks. A lot of Rockies, Okay,

(04:21):
so you know having those you know, fantasy draft kind
of conversations that you would have of, you know, do
you like the youth and guys with great upside so
you could say I was there when they started and
say I'm the smartest guy in the room because of
my prospecting ability, or do you go with the you know, tired,
tried and true guys at that point. That's what Ellis
Burks would have been when that column was written. But

(04:44):
think about those lineups back in the day, with the
Big Cat and Larry Walker and all these guys.

Speaker 5 (04:49):
That was what this game kind of felt like.

Speaker 6 (04:52):
Castilla, sure, and the home road splits were the most
absurd you'd seen based on history.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
Average runs at home seven point nine, average runs on
the road one point three.

Speaker 7 (05:07):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
But with tonight being about positivity, you know, I got
a zig here a little bit.

Speaker 8 (05:11):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
I have four a list of who I really don't
want to be tonight ranked? Oh, okay, who I don't
want to be tonight ranked?

Speaker 4 (05:20):
So I mean the positivity is if you're ranked fourth
on this list.

Speaker 3 (05:24):
Yeah, yeah, positivity ranked fourth on this list?

Speaker 5 (05:26):
Just outside the metal stand.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
Yeah, and I'll go I'll go in in descending, I'll
hit you with the big one off the gate.

Speaker 3 (05:34):
Just stop it up. Justin Fields threw a couple of
good passes. Today.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
He threw a couple of bad ones, but he threw
a couple of good ones. Number One, I really don't
want to be Yankee fans tonight, because again, this is
one of those games where you can point to and
say that's where our season ended. Blowing a nine to
four lead to the Marlins, taking a two run lead
into the bottom of the ninth inning in Miami and
losing on a walk off, and having all your new

(05:58):
additions cast to the game, Cabairo making a horrible error
in right field, allowing the game to get tied. All
your new relievers came in and gave up seven runs
in the last three innings, including your pseudo closer you
were bringing in that was gonna not take the job
from Devin Williams, and after tonight, really really I could
take the job. So like, this is one of those
games where it's just you're a Yankee fan. You're staring

(06:19):
at the wall until four o'clock in the morning, like
I can't believe we lost this game. So Number one,
I don't want to be Yankee fans. Okay, Number two,
I don't want to be any of the New Yankees editions.
All right, because that's it now, because the honeymoon is over.
The number yeah, one day, one day of it, and
the honeymoon is over now suddenly. Don't read the back
page of the Post, of the Daily News or even
the Staten Island Advance. You don't want to read any
of that, because boy, it's not gonna be great. Yesterday

(06:41):
you were a stud in the Savior. Tonight it was
meet the new bullpen, same as the old bullpen. Right,
you don't want to be there?

Speaker 7 (06:47):
Right?

Speaker 4 (06:48):
Number two, nicely done. That's that's very good. And yes,
honeymoons are are very short now.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
Number three, number three.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
I don't want to be anybody who could you know,
they've had meetings about this, and you know there's the
inner sanctum. I don't want to be any of the
two three how many people there are in the Pirates
front office whose job it is to convince Paul's schemes
to stay long term? I do not I do not
want to be one of those guys. What am I

(07:17):
gonna say after tonight?

Speaker 9 (07:18):
Hey?

Speaker 3 (07:19):
Uh yeah, so.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
Uh yeah uh you uh uh you know I got
uh hey, you want to go see fantastic four.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
I mean we I get right now at you.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
I do not want to be whoever's job it is,
because you know they got people on that. Your job
is to convince this guy to stay. Whether you call
Livy Dunn and tell her what it's like to live
in Pittsburgh, you get Michael Keaton on that phone and
tell him what it's like. You get that's number three.
I do not want to be somebody in charge of that.

Speaker 5 (07:50):
Look at you. You got the Pittsburgh Michael Key.

Speaker 4 (07:52):
He's one of the great ambassadors for the city, writes
many a political thing, uh, calling to task any uh
what he feels or missing appropriation of funds uh.

Speaker 5 (08:02):
And and he is batman.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
He was born too soon because if he did now
like because now like Affleck and Dame and everybody, Oh,
we're setting all these movies in Boston. Yeah, we're Boston
through and through. But like he could have been, like, hey,
he's Pittsburgh through and through. Man, all these movies are
set in Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh.

Speaker 3 (08:18):
He could have been that guy. He was he was
born at the wrong time.

Speaker 4 (08:20):
I mean he got torn at home a little bit right,
wasn't part of Batman shot in Pittsburgh or was that
the later Batman?

Speaker 3 (08:26):
That was a later Batman?

Speaker 1 (08:27):
Yeah, hein Swartz touchdown was.

Speaker 4 (08:29):
H No, no, obviously that one. But I think just
in terms of uh, other locales. H But I mean
Gung Ho is Pittsburgh?

Speaker 3 (08:37):
No, yep, yeah, gung Go.

Speaker 5 (08:39):
Yeah, it's a classic.

Speaker 3 (08:41):
Now the fourth the fourth? Who?

Speaker 1 (08:43):
Yeah, people who I really don't want to be, because
you know there was some of them tonight. I do
not want to be the Rockies fans who left him
the first inning of this tame.

Speaker 4 (08:53):
Oh no, no, no, they're drunk as hell somewhere.

Speaker 3 (08:57):
No, you're not. That's it.

Speaker 4 (08:59):
Maybe there was something at Red Rocks. You got to
maybe just a couple of minutes.

Speaker 1 (09:03):
Red Rocks is Sarah McLaughlin at Red Rocks with Michael
Stipab But I go see that concert?

Speaker 3 (09:09):
No, uh, you know, because you will walk away and go.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
You know, the one bleeping game this year that I
needed to be at and I left in the first ending, Like.

Speaker 5 (09:19):
The way you're not admitting that the one game. Well,
if your friends sell you out, if you get.

Speaker 3 (09:24):
Home earlier, wife goes, how come you're home? It's the
third inning? Did you see the game. Oh okay, no, there's.

Speaker 4 (09:30):
No chance in help someone would have gone home by
the way it was the Uh.

Speaker 1 (09:33):
Really, you think there's no chance that people went home
when it was not it would have gone out.

Speaker 4 (09:38):
It was Friday nights. It's like, I'm getting a night out.
Even if these guys screwed me, I'm not going home.
The Tadashy Trucks Band was at Red Rocks tonight.

Speaker 3 (09:48):
I think that's a fake band. I don't think that's
a fake band.

Speaker 4 (09:51):
They played Franklin Tower to start with the Grateful Dead cover.

Speaker 3 (09:55):
I mean, come on, I thought you're gonna tell me, like, hey,
Grave Digger is there. There's a big monster ruck rally.

Speaker 4 (10:02):
Come on Sunday, Sunday Sunday.

Speaker 3 (10:05):
What is its Bigger three?

Speaker 1 (10:08):
Dennis Anderson's not even driving Grave Digger anymore.

Speaker 3 (10:11):
What does it matter? But no, because you know there
are fans.

Speaker 1 (10:14):
Hey, let's go see Fantastic four. Hey they get out
of the game and go, oh wow, what well I
just checked the score of the game. Yeah, tell me
you really liked the movie. It was okay, it was
a little little vanilla, but I kind of it was
all right.

Speaker 3 (10:28):
Tell me you really liked the movie.

Speaker 1 (10:29):
Why Dad, Well, because the game's over and we won
seventeen sixteen. We scored five runs in the bottom of
the ninth inning.

Speaker 5 (10:37):
Fantastic four.

Speaker 4 (10:40):
Here I bought you the Galactas popcorn bucket because I
felt bad.

Speaker 1 (10:44):
Yeah, And then ten years from now, when that when
when that girl, when that girl was gonna get walked
down the aisle at her wedding and the dad goes
up there with his arm.

Speaker 3 (10:51):
She says, beat it, old man. We left.

Speaker 1 (10:54):
That Rockies game was the greatest game ever. Somebody else
is walking me down the aisle. Come on, Schemes, you
walk down the aisle. You you go sit here, lucky,
how you let you at this game? But wait, wait,
I want to commemorate that great night.

Speaker 4 (11:06):
Look at the fan di Haard ready sing it fantastic?

Speaker 3 (11:11):
I mean, really, the four groups.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
I don't want to be Yankee fans, You Yankee additions
if you're in charge of convincing Paul Schemes to stay
in Pittsburgh, and Rockies fans who left in the first thing.

Speaker 3 (11:23):
Really the four groups. I'd rather be Edwin Diaz who
blew the games.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
I'd rather be Ronnie Mauricio, who struck out like didn't
even want to be part of that last that bat
with the basis loader w gonna be any of these
guys tonight that that this is just wow, man, unbelievable.

Speaker 5 (11:36):
That's a lot of those.

Speaker 4 (11:37):
We've got a candidate from the White Sox Angels game though,
I mean, and men, it's White Sox Angels, so I
mean take it with a grain of salt.

Speaker 3 (11:43):
Well, dude, this was Rocky's Pirates gone no, no.

Speaker 4 (11:46):
But I'm just saying that in the context of you know,
it's White Sox Angels and and you know, I chewed
going tonight. I'm gonna try to go on Sunday and
show support to the to the White Sox and all.
But we had an opportunity, uh well for potential chaos, right,
Angels trying to mount a comeback, and you have this
a play at third guy kind of lolly gagging on

(12:08):
his way home. Dude gets thrown out at third base,
one step before the guy would have scored the tying run.

Speaker 10 (12:14):
Oh so he didn't didn't get there, He didn't get
to the get home in time because he was he
rounded third casually kind of coming around.

Speaker 4 (12:25):
Oh great, it was like nope, that guy got thrown
out at third.

Speaker 1 (12:29):
Oh man, Yeah, that's uh, that's rough man. Although, hey,
that's nothing. That's a drop in the bucket compared to
the Yankees and what happened to the Pirates.

Speaker 4 (12:37):
Come on, man, yeah, Compara gets thrown out at third?
Uh yeah, just just no good.

Speaker 1 (12:43):
Can you imagine what would have happened to me if
the Yankees played the Pirates?

Speaker 3 (12:46):
I just blew your mind. I just blew your mind.
Right now.

Speaker 1 (12:49):
That game would be twenty five twenty four right now,
in the sixth inning, and they each team would be
on position players pitching, and there would be there would
be four twenty five hits in the game in twenty
four errors. That's what tonight would be if they played.

Speaker 4 (13:04):
No, it's funny, right, it was one of the more
insane things. Travis Darnow was actually the guy gonna score
and Comparo got tagged out at third. His foot was
coming down over home blade but he hadn't touched yet.

Speaker 5 (13:22):
It's a really great theater.

Speaker 4 (13:24):
One of the most insane baseball game days we've ever seen, right,
I mean we talked about all of the trades and
bullpen arms flying all over the place, and the chaos.
All right, you're traded in the middle of a doubleheader.
Everything we saw these last two weeks right when this
all began tonight, I mean you hold my beer like

(13:45):
one game after the next.

Speaker 1 (13:48):
Crazy, amazing, amazing, love amazing. I mean, really really is
something tonight? This was This has really been some night
in Major Paul, Does Livy really like Pittsburgh?

Speaker 3 (14:02):
Just want to make sure? Just want to make sure?

Speaker 5 (14:05):
Why do you ask? Well, well, I mean we're just
checking the temperature.

Speaker 1 (14:10):
Exit out about a Fresca exit swollen down The Jason
Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon. So coming
up next, we got Rick Buker stopping by. All the
latest news in the NBA, Luka doncic Ken and most
likely will sign his new contract with the Lakers in
the next twenty four to forty eight hours.

Speaker 3 (14:28):
What does this mean? What does this mean for Lebron James?

Speaker 1 (14:31):
We had all kinds of great stuff to get to
with Rick coming up next, right here, Jason to Mike
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (14:37):

want to get to.

Speaker 9 (14:57):
And that's why we have a brand new podcast called
over Promised. You see, we're having so much fun in
our two hour show. We never get to everything, honestly,
because this guy is over promising things we never have
time for. Yeah, you blubber list jam in me.

Speaker 5 (15:11):
Well, you know what it's called over promise.

Speaker 8 (15:13):
You should be good at it because you've been over
promising women for years.

Speaker 9 (15:15):
Well, it's a Covino and Rich after show, and we
want you to be a part of it. We're gonna
be talking sports, of course, but we're also gonna talk
life and relationships. And if Rich and I are arguing
about something or we didn't have enough time, it will
continue on our after show called over Promised.

Speaker 8 (15:29):
Well, if you don't get enough Covino and Rich, make
sure you check out over Promised and also Uncensored, by
the way, so maybe we'll go at it even a
little harder. It's gonna be the best after show podcast
of all time.

Speaker 9 (15:39):
There you go, over promising. Remember you could see on YouTube,
but definitely join us. Listen to over Promised with Covino

Learn more at UMGC dot edu. That's UMGC dot edu. Well,
I have no doubt that maybe it's tomorrow early, maybe

(16:17):
it's tomorrow late, maybe it's Sunday, but we are going
to get a Luka Doncic contract extension with the Lakers.
I'm thinking most likely three years, a two to one something.
It gets into ten years in the league where he
can gain the maximum amount of money after being in
the league.

Speaker 3 (16:33):
For ten years.

Speaker 1 (16:34):
But he's here, He's in the United States. Ah, so
why is he the United States? Oh, he's on TV.
He's on the Today Show. He's joking around about his contract.
If he wasn't gonna sign with the Lakers this weekend,
you would not know where he was. He would be
zero dark twenty three to quote quote Lebron James.

Speaker 5 (16:52):
No, you still had to sell shoes all week He's
still yeah.

Speaker 1 (16:55):
But still But oh, you're here for the beginning of August. Oh,
it's so interesting. You could have sold shoes a lot. Oh,
you're here and now, speaking of Lebron, this is going
to be when the fun starts. But don't take my
word for it. Let's see what Rick Buker has to say.
Fox Sports One, NBA Inside or Extraordinaire joins us. He's
on Twitter at Rick Buker, Rick Happy Friday, Man.

Speaker 7 (17:17):
Friday, gentleman, how are we doing here?

Speaker 3 (17:20):
Buddy?

Speaker 7 (17:21):
The w the big WNBA section of the sports calendar
help you?

Speaker 3 (17:28):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (17:29):
I think I think the Luka Dancers contract extension is
gonna give me some pretty big headlines over the course
of this weekend.

Speaker 3 (17:35):
Or do you think there's a way it doesn't happen.

Speaker 7 (17:37):
No, I would expect that it's going to happen. But
I do think that it's going to be very telling
in terms of which one he signed the four year,
two hundred and twenty million dollar deals for the three year,
one sixty with which is basically he has the option
to get out in two years and then sign a

(17:57):
supermax for like four hundred million dollars, which is just
crazy when you stop and think about it. Somebody's going
to sign for four hundred million tis I know when
you could buy like three franchises for that. And so
there's that. But I think what's going to be very
telling is if he takes the short term, then obviously

(18:21):
he has a lot of confidence in uh in his
ability to stay healthy. And the one caveat there if
he takes the three year one sixty is the other
team in town, which if you look at what the
Clippers are right are doing right now, they are looking
to go big game hunting in two years from now.

(18:44):
That's why they're signing all these vet guys, Chris Paul's
and the Bradley Beals in order to keep their powder dry.
Because eight of those guys, including all the big guys
James Hard and Kawhi Leonard, the guys that I just mentioned,
all of them are often so they're going to have
a ton of cap room. And I'm told that Steve
Balmer wants to go big game hunting in two years.

(19:06):
He wants to be he wants to be competitive the
next two years, but he wants to go big game hunting,
and on his list Ari Janniste Tecumpo and Luka Doncic,
and so I don't know where things are going to
go with the Lakers. I would assume that Doncis isn't
going to change franchises. I'm not predicting that by any
stretch of the imagination. I'm just telling you there's somebody

(19:28):
out there that if he signed three years, one sixty,
it leaves the door open for somebody to poach him,
as opposed to him just sticking around, because then if
the pressure is on the Lakers, what are you going
to do in the next two years to show him
that you can be competitive. If he signed the four
year two twenty, on the other hand, then it also

(19:50):
makes me wonder how confident is he in his health?
Is he taking the money now? Is he assuring himself
a two hundred million plus Let's face it, like he's
had some injuries at this stage already in his career,
and when guys are are dinged up like that, then
sometimes they like the security of the money. So I

(20:13):
don't have any doubt that he's going to sign with
the Lakers in the next day or so. But which
contract he signs will say a lot about where his
mindset is.

Speaker 3 (20:22):
Well.

Speaker 4 (20:22):
Either way, we got the road to swollen all off season.
I mean that men's health cover. I mean, let's go
yeah airbrush Jo.

Speaker 1 (20:31):
Yeah, Well that's a hot take, Rick, that is a
hot take.

Speaker 7 (20:37):
Perfect, perfect lighting.

Speaker 8 (20:39):
Yo.

Speaker 7 (20:39):
Look, I spent enough time in TV. I know, I
know all the tricks of the trade. I worked. I
worked for ESPN the magazine for fourteen years. I was
at the photo shoot. I know what can be done.
Maybe he's maybe he's turned into Annis. Maybe he's and

(20:59):
very well may have lost lost weight and he made
very well. I said this when he got traded like that,
being traded by the Dallas Mavericks may may just be
the kick in the ass that he needs to say,
you can't live the same lifestyle you did over in
Europe when you were playing three games a week like
that's not going to get it done in the uber
athletic NBA. And maybe this is what he needed to

(21:22):
make that change. But I'm sorry, I've Maybe it wasn't
a magazine cover because he wasn't with the Lakers, but
I heard a similar story about Luka Dancis getting in
shape and finally taking his his his lifestyle. Seriously, I've
seen that story written at least three times since he
came into the league. So this is number four. Like

(21:47):
I'm good. Yeah, I'm gonna need to see it last
a little bit longer than a photo shoot in order
for me to believe that he's in shape.

Speaker 3 (21:55):
I mean, Rick, you know me.

Speaker 4 (21:56):
I've been into the cards and collectibles thing forever. I
still want that beer that Michael Finley took out of
his hand for my direction.

Speaker 7 (22:03):
I want to absolutely, absolutely I'm I think I still
have Mike Finley's numbers. I'll see where that might be.

Speaker 3 (22:13):
All Right, we'll hang out.

Speaker 1 (22:14):
I'm gonna tweet out here what you said a couple
of seconds ago from Rick Buker with us on Fox
Sports Radio. It's quite impossible, Luka Doncic is a Donnis Jordan.

Speaker 3 (22:23):
Okay, there we go, there, we got there.

Speaker 1 (22:29):
Now look now, Rick, honestly, I have to think for
this contract for Luca, Yes, he could go four and
two twenty nine, but the whole thing about the three
years is if he gets to ten years in the league,
suddenly you know that's another year of making the max
money that he can make, and it gets into even
stupider money than it is now. So I gotta think that,
you know, I'm okay with it. If I'm the Lakers, Yeah,

(22:51):
you'd want to sign four and two twenty nine, But say, hey, listen,
if I do a three or a two plus one
as you said, where I can opt out depending where
things are. But I gotta think that that's the kind
of contract that he's going to sign with the Lakers.
I mean, I don't think for a second it's going
to be four years.

Speaker 7 (23:08):
Yeah, well, I guess we'll see. I would think so too. Normally,
if guys aren't worried about their health, they're going to
bet on themselves, then they're going to take the shorter contracts.
I just don't know where Luca is in terms of
being confident when it comes to that. And if I'm

(23:28):
the Lakers, honestly, if I can get him four years
for two twenty, I mean that gives me a longer runway.
And the tricky part is, so two years from now
he's signing a four hundred million dollar deal. In today's world,
with today's salary cap, that really hampers their ability to

(23:50):
put pieces around him. And yeah, we saw it with
the Dallas Mavericks. Like as good as he was individually,
it wasn't until they went out they got some other
pieces that were the cost a little bit. It took him.
It took him a couple of years to put together
a roster around him that was capable of going to

(24:12):
the finals. It still wasn't able to win it all,
but was capable of going to the finals. I don't
see anything significantly different in LA.

Speaker 2 (24:21):
It's it may be.

Speaker 7 (24:23):
Slightly easier to get players in LA, although Dallas has
always been an attraction Texas with no state tax Dallas,
the Dallas Mavericks have always had a lot going for them.
I just I think it's going to be once he.

Speaker 2 (24:38):
Signs that big deal.

Speaker 7 (24:40):
It's again with today's salary cap. Yeah, the Lakers have
him locked up, but if it's like he needs to
win championships, you know what, I hope they they they
make great strides in the next couple of years when
his salary is still manageable.

Speaker 4 (25:00):
Rick, what's the next part of the saga? You mentioned
Steve Balmer earlier and his wish list of who he
wants to bring in. I had to do a double
take when we got the photos from Mishko Raznatovich's both
because I thought it was Steve Balmer sitting in the
middle of it all. What's the next part of the
second act of Lebron James.

Speaker 7 (25:21):
Uh, he's riding it out in la I know that
there's a lot of excitement or thought about that that
meeting USA. Misco being the agent for Nikola Jokicsko also
happens to be the agent for like one thousand players.
If you ever look at this client list, it is incredible.

(25:43):
He's also a Vita Zoo bots. I mean, you go
down the line a number of quality international players, Misco
has them. Joki is just at the top of the list.
And I know that that that Instagram photo put out
by Misco no less uh and something about the summer
of twenty five is a great time to be making plans,

(26:04):
big plans for twenty twenty six, And everybody jumped the conclusion, oh,
Lebron's gonna go join the Nuggets. No, what I understand
is that and this is I don't know exactly which
side of this coin that Lebron and mav stand on.
But I've heard a lot of rumblings that the NBA

(26:25):
is looking to be very aggressive and planning its flag
and building the vision in Europe and and and they're
trying to make moves on that front. Now, I don't
know whether Lebron and MAV were meeting with Misco in
order to discuss talent, you know, locations like hey, if

(26:48):
we ended up taking one of the expansion teams coming
over here from from the NBA, where where would be
the best place for us to do business. I don't
know if it was that conversation or it was and
this is just be so classic Lebron fighting the hand
that feeds him, MAV and Lebron knowing that the NBA

(27:09):
wants to make moves that way, and they're like, well,
we're gonna go over and we're gonna build our own league,
Like we're gonna we're gonna create a rival. Because I've
seen that reported that Lebron and mat were meeting in
order to discuss a sixteen men's and women's leagues, two leagues.

(27:31):
I just don't know if it was in conjunction with
what the NBA wants to do, which I've heard is
very similar they'd love to have a w NBA and
an NBA division over there. So I don't know whether
that was the auspices of MAV and Lebron working in
conjunction with the NBA, or they're doing a night Isaiah
Thomas who bought the Continental Basketball Association thinking that he

(27:54):
was gonna he was going to compete against G League,
and the NBA put him out of business pretty quick.
I would imagine the same thing would happen to Lebron
and MAV if they decided to go head to heads
with the NBA and trying to plan a flag in Europe.
But we shall see.

Speaker 1 (28:09):
See I see it this way, Rick, and this is this,
This is what I look at.

Speaker 3 (28:13):
I keep coming back to. Lebron is not a guy that's.

Speaker 1 (28:17):
Gonna play out a season, right, He's he's too big
a star, he's too big, an icon, too big, He's
not gonna play out a season. Everything he's done this offseason,
he's daring the Lakers to trade them. He's telling he's
telling them that I want out without doing the James
Harden this is untenable. I want out, right, you have
the you have the workout in the Cavaliers facility, which is, Oh, no,

(28:38):
it's just a workout. You have the welcome home hat.
Oh no, no, it's just a hat. You have the
Oh I'm just working out at the Clippers facility with
the logo in back of me. Oh, I'm just happy
to be hanging out with the Kola Jokic's agent. And
I'm not tamping any of this down. I'm not saying whoa, whoa, whoa, Hey,
how you guys are running away with this. I'm a
Laker first and foremost. This is this is I think
I look at this gamesmanship all summer between Lebron and

(29:00):
the Lakers of who's gonna blink first.

Speaker 3 (29:02):
Are the Lakers going to say, fine, will buy.

Speaker 1 (29:04):
You out, and and and and you can go where
if you want to, or Lebron trying to force or
or Lebron to a forced way to say, you have
to talk about I need you to trade me. I
need you to trade me. And it's it's who blinks
first between the Lakers and Lebron. That that's kind of
how I see all the stuff Lebron been doing.

Speaker 7 (29:21):
Well, there's no way, there's no way that they can
trade him. There's no there's just it's not it's not
realistic that he's going to go to a contending team.
So the buyout thing, and if he's angling for that,
I agree with you. I do think he's pouting. I
do think that he's not happy and that he's trying to,
you know, in his passive aggressive way, let everybody know that.

(29:43):
I just don't know that there's more to it necessarily
than that, because it would mean abandoning Bronnie uh, not
playing another year with him, and where is he necessarily
going to go? And I just I haven't heard of

(30:04):
a lot of teams that are like really hot and
you know, hot hot on getting Lebron at this stage.
Even you know, obviously there would be teams if they
were getting him on the minimum. But it's like, Lebron
James is just such a big figure and he's just
such a big presence. I'm not saying that he's he's

(30:27):
a negative, but he's he's a load. And and if
you're a team taking that on, then you've got to
figure out, like do our personalities mesh and just I mean,
just honestly, look at what he's doing with the Lakers
right now. Like for all that the Lakers have done
for him to this point, and the fact that you've
got a Luca donk. It's there, and they are making

(30:50):
no bones about the fact that they're moving on and
they're building around Luca, which just makes perfect sense. I mean,
if you're Lebron, how can you get mad at that?
But he is, He's he clearly he's he's not happy
about not having the power that he wants. Hag Well,
if he goes someplace else. If I'm a team and
I'm looking at I'm going, well, what happens if we

(31:11):
don't do what he wants?

Speaker 2 (31:13):
Like?

Speaker 7 (31:13):
Are we going to get the same pouting? Are we
going to get the same passive aggressive behavior? So I
just I don't I know he probably, you know, is
in a perfect world, would go someplace else and play
for a title. I just don't know that that place exists.
So as of right now, I'm looking at all he's
done this summer, and I agree with you like he's

(31:35):
rattling the cage. I don't know that it in the
in the end, it's going to be more than that
that He's just going to let everybody know that I'm
not happy and I'm not used to this treatment. As
opposed to it's going to force the Lakers too. I mean,
even a buyout doesn't make a whole lot of sense,

(31:58):
but that would be the only that's the only way
this comes to an end. There's not a trade out there.
There's not There's not a team that's giving up fifty
two million dollars worth of players and still being a tender,
or giving up fifty two million dollars worth of players
to get a Lebron James for one year.

Speaker 1 (32:17):
He's on Twitter at Rick Buker, that is at Rick Buker.
Rick as always, Buddy, appreciated, Enjoy the weekend. We'll talk
to you next week, where I'm sure that Nicks will
give somebody else one hundred and fifty million dollars.

Speaker 3 (32:28):
We'll be all good.

Speaker 7 (32:29):
We didn't even talk about.

Speaker 3 (32:33):
Gotta say something for next week, Rick, We'll do that
next week.

Speaker 7 (32:36):

Speaker 5 (32:43):

Speaker 1 (32:45):
Unbelievable visit as always with Rick Buker, tell how to
find out what's trending in the wide world of sports.
So someone who's been called the Rick Buker of Fox
Sports Radio, it's Steve Desager.

Speaker 3 (32:56):
He's no mar Son he's got what's trending.

Speaker 5 (32:59):
There's no piking a reason for that, or just we
both lived in California.

Speaker 3 (33:03):
Sure there's that. There's that. Can you walk around saying hey,
Dodger show.

Speaker 11 (33:08):
WNBA night has just finished with a double overtime win
for LA at Seattle one oh eight, one oh six,
despite thirty seven points for Necaguomaka La Sparks Cameron Brink
off the bench under twelve minutes and five fouls. Wins

Angel Reeves of Chicago was at again with a bad back.

(33:28):
New York's Breanna Stewart out this week bone Bruce Interney.

been four and twenty one. Caitlin Clark of Indiana no
timetable for a return from the groin injury. The Fever
did win at Dallas, the Dallas Wings eight and twenty

late games still. Texas bottom of the eighth leads three

(33:49):
to two at Seattle, A's bottom of the eighth five
to one on the Diamondbacks. The White Sox won six
to three at the Angels. White Sox had four solo homers,
the Angels only four hits. San Diego won its sixth

(34:10):
on the Hill. The Dodgers won five nothing at Tampa Bay.
Freddie Freeman a homer and three RBIs. Clayton Kershaw the

innings and no walks. By the way, Ray's first baseman,
Jonathan Rondo was placed on the il with a broken wrist.
He's batting three sixteen. Colorado seventeen sixteen in a comeback

(34:31):
to beat Pittsburgh tonight, ending the Pirates five game winning streak.
With five runs in the bottom of the ninth, Colorado's
Brenton Doyle the game winning two run homer. He was
batting two sixteen but had four hits.

Speaker 5 (34:43):
In this wild one.

Speaker 11 (34:44):
The Rockies were down nine to nothing in the first inning.
They gave up a grand slam and a three run
homer in the first and still won seventeen sixteen, getting
twenty two hits in the process. Miami beat the Yankees
thirteen to twelve with three runs in the bottom of
the night. Yankees had led in the seventh nine to four.
Camillo Deval takes the loss, just acquired after David Bednar

(35:07):
just acquired allowed to in the seventh inning. By the way,
the Yankees release pitcher Marcus Stroman today, he has still
owed eighteen million dollars the Yankees. Aaron Judge with the
bad elbow could be off the in.

Speaker 3 (35:19):
To pitch for him. That could as bad as it.

Speaker 5 (35:21):
Was Aaron Judge with a bad elbow to pitch for him.

Speaker 11 (35:24):
The way things win, he could be off the il
as soon as Tuesday. Boston won in ten innings to
one against Houston. Cleveland won in ten innings three to
two against Minnesota, And by the way, the locker of
Guardians closer Emmanuel Class has been cleared out as he's
on paid leave. Kansas City and the Cubs with wins
Milwaukee sixteen to nine, over at Washington, victories for Cincinnati

(35:47):
and for San Francisco, which ended a six game losing streak,

The Mets now a half game back of the first

bottom of the eighth and beat Detroit five to four.
Johan Duran, the new closer, got the save in Philadelphia,
needing just four pitches for his three outs. And the

(36:08):
DC Council has approved a deal with the Washington Commanders
for a new stadium at the site of the old
RFK Stadium where they played through nineteen ninety six. The
Dome Stadium is due to open by twenty thirty. DC
is contributing a billion dollars, the team is investing two
point seven billion plus and he cost overruns back to you.

Speaker 3 (36:27):
Thank you, STEVEO.

That's next right here, Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (36:44):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven

Speaker 1 (36:53):
The Jason Smith Show with My best Friend Mike Harmon.
Then we'll get back into the big NFL story of
the day coming up in about ten minutes. But you know,
part of me, part of me doesn't want to talk
about this, but it's something that people want to talk about.
You'll see what I mean in a second. For the

(37:14):
second time in the past few days, somebody threw a
sex toy onto the court during the WNBA game tonight
between Golden State and Chicago.

Speaker 5 (37:24):
You saw that.

Speaker 3 (37:25):
You see the tight shirt ty shirt.

Speaker 1 (37:29):
You see the whistle getting blown after an inbounds pass.

Speaker 3 (37:33):
The sex toy is out of bounds under the basket.

Speaker 1 (37:37):
You see one of the officials come over and kind
of kicks it aside before it gets picked up and moved.
It's the same color as the one that was thrown
on the court earlier this week, the same color that
thrown on the on the field with the buffalo bills
over the course of the past couple of years. Maybe
we have a serial sex toy thrower, right, Maybe maybe
that's what's going Either that or we now.

Speaker 4 (37:56):
Have true triple confirmation and about the popularity of.

Speaker 5 (38:04):
The colored green. Green is for the money.

Speaker 1 (38:06):
Green's a big deal. Hey, you certainly see it, right,
I could see it now. Look, there's the thing about this, right,
and some WNBA players players in tonight's game between the
Valkyrie and the Sky talked about it after Sophie Cunningham's
already been on Twitter saying, listen, don't throw stuff on
the court. It's dangerous, and I get it right. The
thing is, though, if I'm the WNBA, I want to

(38:29):
fight this thing quietly rather than with all kinds of attention,
because what this is, this is like it's one of
those fads, right that you see in sports. Right in
the seventies and eighties, it was streaking at games. You know,
it's still people running on the field now. That happens
once in a while, and it's not something you want
to give a lot of publicity to because that just

(38:52):
feeds it. Obviously, it happened at the game the other
night and it got a lot of attention. So guess well,
I'm gonna do it again. Whether it's the same person
or I don't know, but guess what I want because
I want to be the one to throw it on
the court. The more attention this story gets, the more
the more you run into Hey, it's gonna keep happening.
It's like those crazy TikTok trends that people keep doing

(39:14):
and that wind up getting it being hazardous at some point, like, hey,
what is this going?

Speaker 3 (39:19):
What is this?

Speaker 1 (39:19):
Why are people doing this? Oh, it's a TikTok trend, right,
the tide pod challenge. It started a few years ago. Like,
that's kind of what this is. So this is why
I understand MLB teams and NFL teams not showing when
someone runs on the field. You don't want to promote
that happens. Like if I'm a WNBA, like they showed
this and you see this video, I'm like, Okay, if

(39:40):
that happens, we're not going to it on the broadcast.
Like I guarantee you there's some kind of meeting with
Kathy Engelberton whoever else TV partner's going that happens. Again,
we're not showing it. Do not show it. Do not
show it, do not draw attention to it. Now, you
can't help with people have cell phones and they videotape
it going out, But we're not gonna show it on
the broad because that's an easy thing to say.

Speaker 3 (40:01):
Look at this, it's on the broadcast and great video.
I can see it right here.

Speaker 1 (40:04):
Don't show it, don't I gotta think that's the next thing,
because this is something that, yeah, it's embarrassing because you
make the jump that, oh it's women and here's sex
toys and it's really but you fight this like you've
seen it been fought in the past. The less attention
on this the lower of a chance of it continuing
on and being disruptive.

Speaker 5 (40:22):
It is No, it's tough, is right?

Speaker 4 (40:24):
You have Indiana and Dallas play right, No, Caitlin Clark
still sidelined, but you know, ten point game, okay, not
particularly close, but not as bad a blowout as some
of these other games. Steve broad Thing, you know a
couple of the stats out of the LA and Seattle
double overtime thriller. But three times this week we've had

(40:44):
stories that have nothing to do with with play. You've
got two of these for toys, and then you had
the other one where the wig came off and play
was stopped and someone got ejected because they made fun
of it. So, I mean, you're you're getting all these
bad headlines, even if you're getting great play on the court,
is getting no attention because the side show is overtaking it.

Speaker 1 (41:05):
Yeah, I really, I I gotta think you have to
be able to back off and say Okay, let's fight
this as quietly as possible so it doesn't become a
bigger thing.

Speaker 11 (41:13):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (41:13):
Lot more of this as it comes up throughout the show,
but straight ahead, we got a big story out of
the NFL. The best defensive player in the game wants
out why he should get traded one hundred percent.
