(01:10):
videos and stuff already up there. I don't know, do
we have the Raiders turnovers already up there or are
they working on those? Do you think it's gonna take
a while?
Speaker 2 (01:18):
You think it might.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
Yeah, there's a lot of them, all right, Wow, there's
the anticipation. Yeah, and a lot of them.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
But yeah, obviously send it to friends and family, evangelize
powerful attractive mend here in the Fox Sports Radio studios
as we complete global domination.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
So night one of the real beginning of the preseason
for the NFL.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
You can't dismiss that.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
But the thing is, that's also about pageantry. Yes, it's
a game, but it's really any team that has the
extra game. You don't really see anybody, any starters play
a lot in that first game because it's, oh, it's
an extra game for us. We'd see the backups play.
You also have the whole Hall of Fame and Dutch
ceremony around it, so it's kind of like, yeah, it's
a game, but it's not really a game. It's like, oh,
(02:04):
it's like this, It's like, okay, we got the game,
but it's really more ceremonial. Tonight is more Hey, beginning
of this is the beginning of the season. Like, you're
seeing guys who are gonna play big time minutes starting players.
I mean, maybe not Anthony Richardson, but you were seeing
some big time players that are actually playing tonight. But
I saw Hampton and he didn't run north south on
a play where he could have gone straight to the
(02:24):
end zone. We saw Dan Hampton play.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
Wow, that's so the animal, that's my guy. Yeah, good
hair out.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
So what have we seen so far? Tonight? Ravens beat
the Colts twenty four to sixteen. We'll get back into
Anthony Richardson in a bit. Eagles over the Bengals thirty
four to twenty seven. Meanwhile, right now, Seahawks lead the
Raiders seven to three early in the second quarter. It's
the the the Pete Carroll return game, you know, the
the Pete Carroll game that Pete Carroll back in Seattle
(02:58):
for the first time since they said thanks, but we're
moving on at head coach. The Raiders trail this one
seven to three, and it's not been a great start
for Vegas. I don't want to sugarcoat this. As much
as I like the Raiders this year, it's not been
a great start for Vegas. But still, the fact that
you saw Geno Smith on the field tonight, you saw
(03:18):
Pete Carroll coaching, you just get the set and you
know Tom Brady is helping to pull strings in the
front office running things. I just get the sense now
with the Raiders. Okay, adults are in the room now
right like, Okay, now we're at the sense where we
understand what we need. Rome wasn't built in a day,
but we got to stop the backsliding. And here we are.
And I mean it, even though it's not wasn't a
great start for Ashton gent tonight as well. Three carries
(03:40):
minus one yard. Okay, But I still they will be
the best last place team in the NFL this year
because the AFC West will be the best division in
football and the Raiders they'll be the best last player
and they'll hang a banner on that in Vegas best
last place too. They'll be a big thing. They'll have
their own standings where it'll be last place teams in
each division and they'll be a the Raiders. They'll be
at the top. Man, there'll be power rankings of the
(04:02):
last place teams. Raiders at the top. Oh sure, Man,
you'll see Raiders, Jets, Browns, Giants like it's gonna be fantastic. Man,
trust me, it's gonna be awesome. I don't know if
the Jets would rank that highly, but we'll discuss this.
I'm saying all the teams that would be on this
on the power Day. I'm just going through a FC. Okay,
I'm just making sure you just didn't know I would.
(04:23):
Now here's the thing. Whenever I go through teams and
go through things football and I think about them, I
always start a FC East, AFC, North, AFC, South, a FS.
Speaker 4 (04:30):
Go to the end.
Speaker 3 (04:31):
I get they always.
Speaker 1 (04:32):
I always by talking about a rankings and then you
immediately got to the Jets that fast. So gonna you
don't think the Jets are gonna be high in the
rankings of best last place teams in the NFL. Of
course they are. They're gonna be a bottom of that.
Age else is gonna be better than them. The Browns
are gonna stink out loud. Man, forget it. They're not
to forget it. They're done done Vegas.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
Right now, we'll talk to Todd for Giants are.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
Terrible under the Jets, under the Jets. Then believe Wilson
Jameis Winston under Jackson Darty name is Dart forty nine
ers under the jet.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
Now you're going into hot takery. I like that. No,
the Raiders are gonna be fun bringing spy tech in.
You get Brady, and Brady will be it. We'll be
talking about him tomorrow as they unveil that statue and
all the pomp and circumstance there with the Patriots, and
they'll see what they do with all of the pregame
ceremonies and halftime ceremonies there. But it's the the idea
(05:30):
of you know, getting and wrapping your arms around that.
It's a changing game that you don't run things the
same way. It's something that you know, everybody should point
to the way the Raiders kind of grew up this
offseason and say, hey, Jerry, Jerry, I know you're loving
oxen Art. Raiders are figuring out.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
Man.
Speaker 3 (05:52):
The Raiders are figuring it out.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
Now.
Speaker 3 (05:55):
It still gets them a last place finished, but they'll
do so with style. And the long road begins with
the first step.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
You got to come back from the abyss uh to
get back to mediocrity before you can, you know, ride
with Kings. So here here we go, the the start
of a new world order. However, long Pete Carroll's there,
you at least look like you've got some level of stability.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
And that's all you need. I mean, you're you're setting
the bar extremely low. That's it, right, the bar is
really low.
Speaker 5 (06:25):
Right.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
I'm not saying, hey, they're gonna make a run. No, no,
you'll they'll be the best last place to hang the
banner by a lot. They figure it out. Five. Oh,
we need a head coach that really knows what he's doing,
that's built a program before. Okay, understand, we need a
quarterback that's not someone we're taking a chance on or
throwing our hands up saying maybe he's good. We need
somebody making decisions in the front office. It isn't someone
(06:45):
that really we're gonna fire in a year. Okay, they've
said they've got those three things to have this here,
here's one of the things I enjoy. You know, you
you watched and coached a lot of soccer. Uh, and
then you get the player blasts there and takes a
shot on goal.
Speaker 3 (07:03):
Wow, but it's a miss, right, sales over sales, wide
goalie catch a piece of o. I have the phrasing
that I use stylish miss that you know, that's all
I play on.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
Right goal kick or whatever whatever. The next sequence is
same thing here. They're gonna they're gonna be entertaining. They're
still gonna lose a lot of games and so but
you've gotta at least have the building blocks. So, assuming
it's not a complete and abject failure, at least these
guys will see a season two. So now how bad look?
(07:37):
Just to put the Raiders, Just put it in perspective.
This is not Geno Smith. This is Aidan O'Connell throwing
one of the worst passes you will see. It's not often.
Speaker 3 (07:47):
Go back to Will Levis last year, I got at
least five for you.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
You have a guy wide open that all you have
to do is throw it far enough he's five feet
behind the defensive back. Yet this is what happened. Oh,
this is gonna get inter at the twenty thirty.
Speaker 4 (08:06):
He's cutting back inside forty of New York for twenty
five twenty.
Speaker 3 (08:11):
On my right five cut down the guy Marino spiked
it fake.
Speaker 1 (08:18):
You welcome back football, you know, Frostburg. We're talking about
the Raiders, not doing things right. Yeah, blinheard was sucking,
So yeah he's conditioned. I must kill m queen to
fail Mary from two years ago. Here's the interception from
about fifteen minutes ago, first to.
Speaker 6 (08:35):
Ten for this old thirty five where O'Connell, quarterback of
the Raiders, looks right, steps to his left.
Speaker 1 (08:40):
Now he's gonna let it fly down the.
Speaker 3 (08:41):
Left sidelines coverage on the players Joe he makes the interception,
comes back to the thirty thirty five forty forty five
knocked down at the forty.
Speaker 1 (08:50):
Seven yard line Raiders TV on the call. Uh, he's
throwing for Thornton, who really has five yards on the
dB right his five yard it's on Joe right. This
is all he's got it. Throw it as far as
you can. That's what you do, as far as you can,
and you have to. This is like, this is like
and you know what if because this is me being
(09:11):
defensive back from from high school, is that I always
knew watching a quarterback warm up before a game because
this is back in the this is back in the
eighties where you don't always get a lot of film
on a guy and see him, but I can always
watch a guy warm up for a game, and I go, okay,
I know exactly how deep I have to play before
I know this guy can't throw it.
Speaker 3 (09:29):
You don't think he was roping.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
I always know he can't throw it.
Speaker 3 (09:32):
Got because we know your first step wasn't getting you
back on it.
Speaker 5 (09:35):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (09:36):
I got got in intramurals in college a few times,
but on the field with with pads and everything, no,
I never got got on that. Uh but and so
that was what reminded me because you see you see
the throw and Joe just the dB just stops going yeah, okay,
and and I'm gonna take three steps forward to grab
that football for an interception. That was just that that
(09:57):
touch like I'm gonna lobb it and try to hit
some perfect target, almost like all those drills we keep
scrutinizing as a collective media.
Speaker 3 (10:08):
Did he make it in the net that time? I
don't know. Maybe he did, maybe he didn't. That that
looked like he was trying to do. He was playing
one of the carnival games as you walk the boardwalk,
trying to win fabulous prizes like giant stuffed animals, And
in this case, he found the defensive bag who said,
thank you very much. The receiver was pissed because he
was gonna walk into the end zone.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
Luckily for the Raiders, again it is a preseason, but
again they will be the Still this interception that they
will be the best last place team in the NFL,
the NFL last place team power. I'm gonna do that.
I'm gonna do that next hour, the last place NFL
team power. We could go viral y.
Speaker 3 (10:44):
Yeah, absolutely, but you've already get you know, let the
proverbial cat out of the bag.
Speaker 1 (10:50):
I think people want to see where the other teams
are gonna rank it, where they're gonna be. But tonight,
you know, one of the other games we watched, we talked,
we talked earlier tonight. The one team we haven't gotten
to yet has been the Ravens. And look, the Ravens
didn't play a lot of stuff. Everything's fine with the Ravens,
by the way, I don't wor everything is fine. They
beat the Colts twenty four to sixteen. The big highlight,
(11:11):
of course for the Ravens, a big low light for
the for the Colts a Jabo's big sack of Anthony
Richardson that results in him getting a dislocated Pinky. But
you know all the talk about this Ravens team, and
you know, we talked about Keaton Mitchell having a big
night tonight twenty two yard touchdown. They miss his electricity
in the backfield. And the last week or so, there's
(11:32):
been a lot of love for the Ravens roster and
how good it is and one of the top five,
maybe the best roster in the NFL. And I could
say that I'm not disagreeing with any of that. I'm
not disagreeing, but I sit back and go, Okay, I
have seen this movie long enough to know and many
times times enough to know how it's going to end.
(11:53):
I've seen the Ravens with great rosters. I've seen Lamar
Jackson play phenomenal in the regular I've seen him have
great lights out playoff games. And then I see in
the divisional round or the AFC Championship game where he
turns the football over two or three times and it's
a sloppy game and the Ravens go home. And it's
not like they suddenly improve their roster so much in
(12:16):
the offseason, where boy they made the changes needed, Like, yes,
that could have been for him last year. Yeah, but
what happened Mark Anders drops a pass. Ye, but it's
not like that was an isolated incident. I've seen it
too many times. So you know, look if Peyton Manning
is gonna get crushed for his playoffs his lack of success,
because look, in the playoffs he was basically a five
hundred quarterback, right, he had great games, but he had
(12:36):
awful games. I've seen the Ravens seasons enough to know that, Okay,
they'll have a great regular season. We'll say they're unbeatable.
We'll say, look, what, how are you gonna stop Lamar
and Derek Henry. Guess what? Teams find a way because
something happens to them in the playoffs and Lamar Jackson
turns the football over and the Ravens get found out
and they get exposed. It has happened five or six
(12:57):
times in the last decade. It's like seeing It's like,
I still know what you did last playoffs. Okay, then
there's a sequel. I still know what you did last playoffs.
And now the reboot. Oh, I still know, really know
what you did in the playoffs last year. How many
times does the movie come out? I know, I know
it's Jennifer Love heal, and it's Freddie Prince's I know,
(13:18):
I know what you did last playoffs. I know what
you did. I know. That's how it's gonna end for
the Ravens. Like, yeah, it'll be another great regular season. Well,
but this is not an over the top Ravens team.
You have other teams that made big improvements and strides
in the offseason as open as the AFC is. I mean,
this is the year the Ravens are gonna suddenly say, hey,
now we're the best team in the NFL. Yeah again,
I've seen that movie too.
Speaker 3 (13:38):
I mean I enjoy the roster they have assembled, particularly
a wide receiver. That's where you have the difference, Right,
the rise of Bateman and Flowers at Hopkins for whatever
he is, look for the redemption tour from what had
been a normally reliable guy in Mark Andrews. Isaiah likely
is injured, right, so we will watch to see what
(14:00):
happens there. But all of that to say, if your
offensive line stays healthy, you're gonna play meaningful games. But
just like I was doing when I went and watched
the reboot of I Know What You Did last summer,
I'm gonna yell Act Act act give me something, Give
me something, because that was something we said very often
(14:21):
as we watched that.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
It's like, I don't remember them being such bad actors.
Likewise in January, why are you such bad players? As
I say this, Aidan O'Connell is just throw another interception
for the Raiders. The Seahawks have the football deep in
Seattle territory. Guys, they leaded fifteen to three midway through
(14:44):
the second quarter.
Speaker 3 (14:44):
I thought the Raiders were good.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
I said they'll be the best last place team in
the NFL, really making Purdue people say, hey, we had
Drew Brees and the Seahawks celebrating following the interception in
the end zone with the fans. They've just gotten a
fifteen unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. So now instead of being inside
the twenty, they're now outside the league.
Speaker 3 (15:07):
I can't have smelling salts unless I buy my own,
and I can't celebrate kicking off.
Speaker 1 (15:13):
If you ever thought I don't know about the Raiders
getting Geno Smith, no, this last few minutes, this tells
you exactly why.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
He's just dancing over on the sideline. You look pretty
good about his uh behold and stranglehold on the job.
Speaker 1 (15:26):

but coming up next. Sometimes tweets I have don't age
very well. And it was about fifteen minutes ago I
(15:46):
tweeted out we talked about this. Hey, the crypto guy
taking responsibility for the bilbo baggins being thrown on the
court in WNBA games. Okay, now this trend is gonna
come to an end. Not sos coming up next to Yes,
another one has been thrown on the floor and it's.
Speaker 3 (16:07):
Not Neon Green.
Speaker 1 (16:11):
Cash j Fox.

(17:22):
So it was how long ago? It was forty little
bit less than forty minutes ago? Right? We talked about
the latest development in the WNBA Bilbo Baggins situation. Yeah,
where a lot of Bilbo's have been thrown on the
floor in the last ten days. Three Yeah, plethora, We
(17:43):
have had a plethora. At least three more have been
thrown as well, but obviously the person didn't have enough
arm because it never made it to the floor where
the players were playing. Yeah, okay. And the fact that
a guy in charge of a crypto company laid claim
to and said, hey, we're doing it for publicity for
this crypto company and everything else going on with it.
I said, you know, you don't go out there and
(18:05):
lay claim to it and make it public if you're
gonna continue to do it, right. This is where I said, okay,
and I felt pretty confident with the fact that you know,
this tells me this is gonna be on the Wayne. Now,
may be some copycat you know you talked it could
be some copycatters, but really, okay, copycat coming off the
original of the throwing of the Bilbo baggins. I you know, okay,
(18:27):
it'll go away. I felt good news for the WNBA.
This tells me that this is gonna end sometime soon.
And this is on the Wayne that was not even
forty minutes ago, not even you gonna set you fast
sometime And I tweeted out our take on it, right,
so it's out there on social media, and uh, you know,
in the past, I have tweets that haven't aged well.
(18:49):
We all have. I've not had one that didn't age
well in such a short amount of time. It was
eight minutes. Well, you've had some in again, you know
baseball stuff where you got chesty about the match. Well,
that's well that you know that, that's the heat of
the moment. That's mets like that doesn't count. Uh No,
I mean like real show stuff did we do?
Speaker 3 (19:08):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (19:09):
The real it was eight minutes eight minutes after it,
we talked about it. I tweeted out, Hey, it's on
the way and you're not going to see it. And then,
in the words of DJ Khaled, another one with about
five seconds to go in the Dream Sky game tonight,
with about five seconds left, one was thrown on the
(19:31):
court behind the players. So it wasn't near anybody, and
uh it was not Neon Green. It was purple. So Mike,
where were you? Where was it? Where his brothers? Where's
his brothers? That's what I want to know. This is
not their Chicago Sky, is not their bag Chicago Sky.
How do you know? How do you know?
Speaker 3 (19:51):
Living in double life fifty years you never know about that.
I mean, you don't know.
Speaker 1 (19:55):
Look, there's money to be made on it, though, right
because I mean we have had betting odds for non
Neon Green. Mm hm, like those bill take it off
the ball. This tells me maybe it's a copycat.
Speaker 2 (20:05):
Boy.
Speaker 1 (20:05):
I feel like I feel like I'm in a in
a cop movie where I'm like, hey, I think that's
a copy cat. You know, we gotta get out there,
all right. Maybe I feel more like I'm in Brooklyn
nine to nine, Oh boil, But now I kind of
feel like this could be a copy cat. Is this
the real Bilbo Baggins thrower or is this a copycat
Bilbo thrower? I don't know. Is it the real Bilbo?
Is it not a real Bilbo?
Speaker 3 (20:24):
Is it not?
Speaker 1 (20:24):
Where's the ring? Where's sniegel? Bilbo? Not real? The green?
Is it count ifits purple? I mean maybe it's a
copycat person throwing it on the floor.
Speaker 3 (20:33):
Yeah, I gotta find the odds. And this goes back
to again the intent of what you might have been
trying to do. Yeah, hype up your your meme coin
and whatever, doesn't mean that that's where it stayed. And
now it's become something much much different and worse. You
have the already a guy that was charged with the salt,
he should be charged probably with more before it's all
(20:54):
said done. Yeah, I go back to but for the
meme coin operators, then they get off the hook. But
to go back when when the uh, the prosecutors on
Law and Order SVU. I gotta go to TV because
that's where my lawyering is done. Lewis Black was a
shock jock and started railing about something and then somebody
got attacked because of it, so they went to prosecute
(21:17):
Lewis Black.
Speaker 1 (21:18):
They said, hey, you know what, let's uh, let's borrow
from that great Robin Williams Jeff Bridges movie Fisher King,
and let's put it on. Make it seem like it's
ripped from the head.
Speaker 3 (21:25):
But that's it, right, it's it's now.
Speaker 1 (21:27):
Well, you get the shock jock in there, and that
was all the rage, because this is a fairly old
episode at this point. But but you started it right
by doing this, and it escalated, and but for the
grace of someone's bad arm, or perhaps as a testament
to their accuracy, nobody got hit the first company. I'm
(21:50):
glad it was behind the play.
Speaker 3 (21:52):
You know, you know what I mean, like and in
this case, behind.
Speaker 1 (21:54):
The play, I mean five seconds left you had you
were five seconds away. Well, but someone cashed the ticket
on a purple Bilbo. You know, we we have Todd
Furman coming up our Vegas. Inside. I want to find
out if these are they taking odds on that in Vegas,
you're taking odd.
Speaker 3 (22:10):
I don't think you can because I think there's too
perfect you know, an information right, because you get it's
like or Todd's.
Speaker 1 (22:17):
Gonna say maybe some offshore books you can, but not
legitimately like it would be offshore books. Right, I'm sure
there's there are plenty that have made markets on it.
But because what's to stop me from having a big
bet and making you the fall guy, especially if they're
only going to get a slap on the wrist. Now,
if they get charged as a sex offender and it
becomes part of their permanent registration. That's that's where you
(22:39):
can curb some of this, right, because that sticks, that
keeps you from getting employed. That's that's really reaching in
instead of you know, you earn two hundred dollars on
the bet you made, because I don't think you're gonna
have the large limits on this either. But the other side,
like because I could pay some some patsy you know, uh,
(23:00):
you know, a couple of bucks, Hey go throw this,
and I know what color he's got, all right, and
as long as he's got a decent enough arm and
the shoulders not mine might actually make it to the floor.
Now I could have actually solved this. I actually did
solve it for the WNBA. They just didn't listen to me.
What did I say after this happened a second time?
(23:22):
Right after this happened a second time? Right cause I I,
you know a lot of people want to laugh at it,
A lot of WNBA players want to laugh at it.
But obviously you don't want people throwing stuff, right, Yeah,
but you don't want people throwing stuff at players, So
I understand that part of it. What did I say
this after the second one happened? I said, if I'm
Kathy Engelberg, and I don't know why they should have
listened to me. I could have solved it. I say
to the broadcast partners. Right tonight's game was on Prime
(23:45):
and WCIU locally, I said, Okay, listen, if at all possible,
if somebody throws something on the court, do not show
it cut away to something else. Because it's the same
philosophy of why leagues don't show fans running on the
field at baseball games or fans running on the field
of football games, right because if they show it that
(24:08):
that's a big can opener too. Oh, I can get
on television and do it right. That's a big can
opener to do it. And the same thing for this. Right.
If someone throws a bilbo baggins on the court and
they show it, Hey, guess what I threw it on
the court. Now, if you are watching, and you should,
you have should have somebody watching like a hawk. Hey
it happened. Cut to your cutter. You know what you're
gonna do if something happens. We're cutting to the head
(24:30):
coach right where we're cutting to the we're cutting to
the fans. We're cutting away from this, and you're gonna
talk right and we'll tell you what's going on. There's
a stoppage of play on the court. Not sure what's
going on? Okay, but don't show it because once you
show it, it gains life immediately on social media. And no,
you can't stop people from taking video with their cell phones,
but you still blunt the impact of this getting shown.
(24:53):
And what did the broadcast do here? It was the
bilbo baggins was thrown behind the play. You didn't really
see it, but after timeout was called on the court,
the camera pans back and you can see it on
the court. And this is where I say to my say,
you could that this tonight could have been avoided. You
(25:13):
didn't have to have it shown tonight if you had
a plan in place, which you should have had, because
it's a pretty big thing. And I just solved it
in like eight seconds. So I'm pretty sure Kathy Engelberg
could have had a couple of seconds out of her
day to say, Hey, I'm gonna talk to our broadcast
partners if something is shown on the field. You've done
games before. You know when if you're doing a game
and someone runs on the court, we don't show them.
Can you figure that out? Yes? Absolutely, well do that
(25:34):
you did not. I mean, this didn't have to go viral.
You didn't have to see it. It's a different story
is because you got to hope that somebody's got their
camera out, and if someone does have their camera out,
you know that it's someone that is knowing that it's
gonna happen. So you could potentially find that person. In
the stands of a pretty good success rate of finding
people who take videos and they put stuff out there,
so you know someone because no one's out there with
(25:55):
their phone the entire game going Okay, I want to
wait for this. So if you're not showing it, you
are blunting the impact. Well, so this guy could be
the accomplice, the one that front off of Sports retweeted
because they didn't do the one from the game telegas. Now,
the way the camera moves there, have you ever used
one of those things from the sideline, uh, for your
(26:16):
soccer games where it's you got it on the the
giant tripod and it's what, however, many feet up high
in the air and it pans and it's got the
chip and the ball, so it follows the ball. This
moved backwards like it was one of those like the
ball and rolled back or something to where it's not.
Speaker 3 (26:33):
It didn't look like it was an actual man manned camera.
Let me go by the way, there's also the report
that that one got to the court, another one landed
by the sky. One another one right and and you
see this, you know if you're the w NBA, because
it's embarrassing for them, I understand it, right.
Speaker 1 (26:51):
You know, We've we've fought through. We're finally we have
a seat at the big table with with with the
rest of the sports because of Caitlyn Clark, We're part
of the everyday discussion. We're getting everybody's getting richer, things
are getting better for our league. You know you don't
want this. I understand it, and it was this was
completely avoidable. But for some reason, I know they didn't
have any any kind of meeting or any kind of
conversation because that would have not happened tonight. Wolmen. Okay,
(27:13):
oh something on the court. Cut to the coach. You
know it's in the pre show meeting. And I don't
think the WNBA is outside of their breadth of influence
at all by saying, listen, we don't want to do this.
Uh you know, don't show it when when it comes
on the floor. But instead, no, no, not only not only
did it land they would the camera person went back,
wait what is that? Wait, zoom in on it. Let's
(27:36):
say oh oh, okay, okay, I mean it's embarrassing man,
Like I could I There's times I go, what kind
of qualifications do you really need to be the commissioner
of a sport? Like I think I could have. I
could have zipped right in and solved this thing for
the w right away. I could have done that without
any sort of business experience, paid money for a for
a business education or some sort of NBA. What is
(27:58):
different business NBA?
Speaker 3 (27:58):
Are you just kind of flipping me off while you
while you're talking about this NBA right now, I paid
a lot of money for my Okay, yeah, and I'm
sitting next to you.
Speaker 1 (28:06):
I can just it right up. Well, we've we've gone
over that for the past ten years. I can sit
right up there. I don't need business. I don't need
anything else. Lawyer, I'm prepared. Everything's gonna be a lawyer
now to be something. Forget it, man, I don't need
I need to waste my time in school. I could
have just gone right from Hey, guess what, I'm from
the school of common sense. Let me have a meeting
with every with all our broadcasts, but with Amazon Prime
in the local stations where call in everybody's calling in
(28:27):
for five minutes. We have a five minute call in
today at noon. Let's do it. Dial in, you'll join
the meeting in a moment. And I would just say, hey,
just so we know, let's not show it. There's a plan.
You guys, got it? Good? Okay, talk to you later
and we're done, and we're out, and I solved the
issue for the WNBA, but instead, now here's another night
and now more people are gonna throw stuff on the court,
and now it's not going to end. Yeah, the the
(28:51):
question is, I mean, you're still gonna have to acknowledge
it on the broadcast just to creatively how you do
it as there's a stoppage in play because an object. Yeah,
what do they say when when when fans run on
the field of the game. Oh, you have a stoppage
on the field right now? Is uh security personnel or
taking care of a situation? You know, Troy. Uh, looking
(29:11):
at the Cowboys here in the fourth quarter, they really
don't seem to have any any uh any cohesion offensively. Yeah,
you know, Joe, they don't have any cohesion, and uh
the reason for that is because Jerry Jones is awful.
That's how it's done. And they don't care ready to
play again, right, That's that's how it is. I had
to sideswipe Jerry Jones to make your point. Why why
so hateful? Well, because I go, okay, if I do
(29:32):
Joe and Troy, Troy is gonna say something besideswipe Jerry Jones. Okay,
it's fair. Yeah, here we notice Troy listen to it
this year. Whenever Joe Buck sets Troy up with something,
Troy always says the last few words that Joe Buck
says and then repeats it like Joe Buck would know
that's that's that was a great pass by Dak Prescott.
Wasn't that, Troy? You know? It was a great pass
(29:53):
Joe like and whatever Joe says, he will repeat the
end of it and then go into his point. You
realize that's what players are taught to do. You would think,
you know, that horrible mistake by the Jets. Troy, you
know it was a horrible mistake. Let me tell you
it's time not to find out what's trending in the
(30:14):
wide world of sports. If someone who's been called the
Troy Aikman of Fox Sports Radio because she walks around
with a big star on the side of her helmet,
it's Monty Blag.
Speaker 5 (30:23):
You know what, Jason, You're being very logical in suggesting
that the broadcast partners don't, you know, show things that
are throwing out of court. I hear you, But then
what else are we going to talk about with the
w n B A Kaitlyn Clark's injured. Angel Reese is injured.
They need it, then you're talking about it.
Speaker 3 (30:40):
Yeah, you wouldn't be talking about it.
Speaker 1 (30:42):
I still don't think the league wants that, though, you know,
I get it. I don't think w NBA Commissioner Jason Smith, that's.
Speaker 2 (30:49):
Me right, right right?
Speaker 5 (30:50):
What is it? There's no such thing as bad press.
Speaker 3 (30:53):
See, I think that's antiquated.
Speaker 1 (30:55):
I don't.
Speaker 3 (30:55):
I don't think that works anymore.
Speaker 1 (30:57):
I think that was good back when you know you
only had one newspaper that you had to be brought
to you by a horse. Oh maybe maybe you're right.
Speaker 5 (31:08):
Okay. The Seattle Seahawks have a sixteen to three lead
over the Raiders going into the half eight and O'Connell
was driving Las Vegas in this final series here trying
to get in the end zone. But he is eight
of seventeen, one hundred and eleven yards in the air
two interceptions. When it comes to the Seahawks, say the Seahawks.
(31:30):
George Holane had a twenty four yard rushing touchdown and
Drew Lock connected with Troy Horton for a touchdown. Drew
Lock is twelve of twenty two fo one hundred and
forty seven yards that touchdown and that interception. It is
just halftime.
Speaker 2 (31:42):
Sixteen to three is the score.
Speaker 5 (31:44):
Super Bowl champion Eagles defeated the Bengals thirty four to
twenty seven. Phillys quarterback Tanner McKee twenty of twenty five
two hundred and fifty two yards, two touchdown, two touchdowns
in the air, and one rushing touchdown, while the Ravens
defeated the Colts twenty four to sixteen. Now Anthony Richardson,
sacked early in the game, suffered a dislocated right pinky finger.
Speaker 2 (32:04):
He is considered date to date.
Speaker 5 (32:06):
Daniel Jones came in that first half, but they may
still play him in the next upcoming game. It's gonna
depend on how Anthony Richardson's finger holds up. Ridley Leonard
took over for the Colts in the second half. A
couple of injuries in this one. Colt's third round roocky
cornerback Justin Wally tore his ACL He's out for the season.
Raven's sixth round rookie cornerback billal Cone suffered a torn
(32:28):
ligament in his knee. He's out for the season. Other
NFL news, an update on Texan CJ Gardner Johnson, who
was carted out out of practice today, but he did
not tear his ACL. According to ESPN, he is expected
to miss some time, but the injury is not expected
to be season ending. Unfortunately for the Chargers, Pro Bowl
left tackle Rashawn Slater tore his left pateller attendant and
practice today. He's gonna be out for the season. Just
(32:50):
eleven days ago, he signed a four year, one hundred
and thirteen million dollar extension. You can expect to see
Patrick Mahomes play the first quarter of the Chiefs preseason
opener on Saturday, though against Air Arizona. In baseball, well
all the games are wrapped up. The Mariners walked it
off forty three against the White Sox on an RBI
single from dominic Can's zone. The Pirates shut out the
Red seven zero, and the Braves came back to defeat
(33:12):
the Marlins eight to six. In the w NBA, the
Sparks are on top of the Sun seventy seven to
seventy four, still early in the fourth quarter, and after
three quarters the Mercury are all over the fever seventy
three forty seven, but Sophie Cunningham has eighteen points so
at least there's that, and nothing has been thrown that
I know of, no other colors, just the one game,
(33:33):
the one, yes, and if another one comes flying, I
hope it's like a different color, you know, the colors
of the rainbow.
Speaker 1 (33:38):
Did you? Why did you bet it?
Speaker 5 (33:39):
No?
Speaker 2 (33:40):
But I should have?
Speaker 3 (33:40):
Okay, I should have should have bet it?
Speaker 1 (33:43):
Should have you come in wearing the colors of the
one you think it is?
Speaker 2 (33:46):
Yeah, yes, lutsie.
Speaker 1 (33:48):
Why are you? Why are you head to toe a
neon red? Okay? I guess we'll find out.
Speaker 3 (33:51):
We'll find out.
Speaker 1 (33:52):
All hoping to make a lot of money, Thank you
mon coming up. Yeah, we'll continue to evaluate this story
as it goes on. Again, tell you have more things
wind up pit in the floor. That's not a basketballer sneakers,
but straight ahead a big night one of preseason the NFL.
We got a big NFL injury story coming your way
next Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (34:11):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 1 (34:19):
Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with My best
friend Mike Harmon Live from the Fox Sports Radio studios
where mercifully for the Raiders.
Speaker 3 (34:27):
It's halftime.
Speaker 1 (34:28):
Yay. The Pete Carroll revenge game not going so well
for Pete Carroll. Abe O'Connell has completed nine passes, okay,
two of them have been to the Seahawks nine out
of eighteen, two interceptions. Seahawks lead the Raiders at halftime
right now, sixteen to three.
Speaker 3 (34:47):
How many rushing yards for gent.
Speaker 1 (34:49):
Can you count to? Minus one?
Speaker 3 (34:52):
No?
Speaker 1 (34:53):
Okay? Minus one?
Speaker 3 (34:55):
Backwards? Man three backwards.
Speaker 1 (34:57):
He had a long of three and then he then
he had one of zero, and he had one of
minus one.
Speaker 3 (35:03):
Stock is falling.
Speaker 1 (35:04):
That's the night for Ashton Gentis.
Speaker 4 (35:06):
Eight seven, seven ninety nine. His ADP is falling. You
don't want to take him as your first pick and
your dynasty draft. Stay away from a genty dude, a
couple of dynasty drafts. I am trying to load up
to move up to the number one pick to get him.
I'm trying to look, here's three number one picks, you know,
to move up from like number two. Here, I got
to move up to number one to get out. Like
(35:26):
it's like I feel like the entire rookie draft is
like it's genty and then it's everybody.
Speaker 1 (35:31):
Else, you know. Yeah, No, the rest are big dice, rolls,
tight ends, a couple of wide receivers. I mean, you
just got it's one of those you just have to
get lucky. Trust McMillan. No, I mean, so good luck.
Now we'll get to the big injury from tonight in
a few minutes, because old boy, big quarterback Derby may
(35:52):
have gotten decided. But earlier today an awful blow for
the Chargers as uh They's lay Lou's Rashan later for
the season with a ruptured pateeller tend and suffered in practice.
Earlier today, they had just given him one hundred and
thirteen million dollars one hundred thirty million dollar contract just
a few days ago. He's one of the best offensive
(36:13):
linemen in the game. Look, when you're a Pro Bowl
left tackle, there's not a lot of guys like that.
And it's just it's a stunning move and it's it's
it's a stunning development. And he was non contact today,
just doing a drill and backed up and it just
it just went out for him. And it really is
it's really really difficult, and I know it's a big
shock for the for the charge to deal with. Now
(36:34):
I realize it, it's still you're still dealing with this.
And Slater's a phenomenal player. The thing is, though, there's
few coaches that I trust with the vision for a
team that I know when adversity hits, we can overcome it,
right because I watch you look like my team the Jets. Hey,
if what happens if your quarterback yet sorry, Darren Rodgers
(36:55):
isn't gonna get hurt. Oh wow, we're stuck right like, oh,
are you ready for adversity when it hits? And certain
teams are not, the Chargers are, Like Jim Harbaugh has
built this, this Charger team right. The first year he
puts in his system and his philosophy and he has
some get by guys in at different positions. Now the
second year he's gone out and got dudes. And the
(37:16):
one thing he does that I really love what he
What he did, you know from Michigan to the NFL
is I'm gonna build we have a quarterback. I'm building
offensive line out right. The one thing the Chargers have
that you know, he's going to have a really good
offensive line. And they needed to run the football like
they're going to They've got a couple of running backs
and we can get a lot of carries as long
as Najie Harris does come back. But they have a
(37:38):
pretty versatile, pretty deep offensive line already. So yeah, it
sucks that you're losing a Pro Bowl left tacker and
tackle and slater already. So you don't know how the
season's gonna go. But it's pretty deep, right, They've already
talked about, Hey, you know they signed McKai Beckton in Fame,
so you finally turned his under around with the Eagles
last years. All these quarterbacks go somewhere else that is
(38:00):
yeah the Jets, and I mean rediscover a your love
for football and be your ability to play it that
you're actually good X Jet Now good?
Speaker 4 (38:06):
Right?
Speaker 1 (38:06):
What do I say? So they bring in Mackay beck
and now they're going to likely slide Joe alt over
to left tackle. Pickens is going to be right tackle.
Like they have some really good players who have started,
they have started and played well that are now going
to just start on the offensive line. Like it's a
it's a deep enough position where this is not something
that has to kill the Chargers. I still love them
(38:27):
to be the surprise team in the West. I love
them to win the division. I think they're that talented
and the culture that that Harbaugh's built is ready to
take off. So I still love them. Yes, it sucks
they lost Slater, but this is this is a team
that has built the right way, that is built to
withstand injuries like this. And I still love everything about
the Chargers, nothing I've said about them. Do I change
(38:49):
surprise team in the in to win the AFC West
surprise Super Bowl contender? I still love the Chargers.
Speaker 2 (38:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (38:54):
We'll talk to Todd Furman next hour see if the
odds moved a little bit. And generally it's the kind
of thing that happens most substantially gamed a game with quarterbacks,
no question about it. But you're starting left tackle of
that acumen, even though you don't have Joe Alt, who
proved last year he's gonna be a good one for
many years to come.
Speaker 6 (39:14):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (39:14):
And as you said, there is depth, uh and the
way they've built the roster.
Speaker 1 (39:19):
Right when we're talking about the Minnesota camp h and
all the questions about JJ McCarthy, what do you do
you go back to? You know, they had a really
good offensive line. That was the one thing he built
there and how they built their structure, So you try
to apply it here. J. J. McCarthy a little bit
of a different experience. Now in a way, these guys
aren't keeping me up right the entire time. Okay, but
look just to be able to take a guy like
Trey Pipkins right, the average NFL fan doesn't know who
(39:41):
isn't that's fine, but this is a guy I think
it was a three year starter for them at right tackle.
So it's not like he's gonna something, Well, we're gonna
teach you the position like he was a three year
starter there. You you got starts all year, You've got depth.
So they it's not going to be easy to overcome,
but they've they've got a couple of weeks to now
get the reps to do it. So a difficult day
(40:03):
at the Bolt, but still, I mean, Keenan Allen Show
is supposed to be a day where hey, Keenan Allen's back,
everything is great when it's a uh yeah, the Rushawn
Slater injury. But telling you I still surprise team Chargers
win the AFC West Surprise super Bowl content.
Speaker 3 (40:16):
Now I know J.
Speaker 1 (40:17):
Sagar doesn't hang out on Twitter or anything. But I
really thought we were at least gonna get a ceremonial
unveiling of you know, him pulling out all those old
stat files that he had in a cabinet because Keenan
Allen was back, and now you got to add on
to him. Now it's gonna be Lad Now Frostburg used
to have Keenan Allen stats for days. Now it's gonna
be I got Lad McConkie stats for days. I guess
stats for days on you days exit Albota, Fresca, exit
(40:40):
swollen Dome. Coming up next, we get back into the
big injury of the night in the NFL. Keep it
right here, Jason and Mike Fox.
