single night. Now, well, we have a big red letter
day in Major League Baseball because the Dodgers are no
longer in sole possession of first place in the NL West.
It's pretty much been, in the words of Mike Harmon,
pillar to post for the Dodgers so far. But after
this seven to six defeat and extra innings, Dodgers and

Padres now tied for first place. With the Big Dodger
Padre Series looming this weekend, the Dodgers looked like they
were gonna escape show. Hey Otani, it's a home run
in the ninth inning, his fourth straight game with a
home run. Gives a Dodgers a one run lead. However,
Alex Vesia comes in, can't hold the lead. Ben Casparius

comes in and nearly walks in the winning run in
the ninth inning. Doesn't matter. The Padres find a way
to win it in the tenth. They get a bunt
that stays fair because it stops on the chalk, and
you get a ground ball over the third basement I
mean sorry, Angels get a bass hit Joe Adel with

a chopper over the third baseman's head into the outfield,
brings in the game winning run, and now the Dodgers
and Padres tied at the top of the NL West.
After the Angels walk it off against the Dodgers just
a few moments ago.

What a weird game. This was you had Choyo Tani
mentioned the homer. He also lined into a triple play,
which was an odd set of circumstance. Uh, some heroics
along the way, but once again, you know, you know

fact that you actually have people bunting in Major League Baseball,

we're gonna score runs in bunches. I'll give you that run.
You want one run? Now, you got to make sure

that one run you play for is going to win
you the game. You can play for one run if
it can win you the game, which is why the
bunt tonight to put runners at first and third. Okay,
I get it, because you needed that one run to
win the game. I'm not a big fan of it,
but at least I understand that.

When when when God said here's a softball pitcher, it
was Catherine. So so I went out and I told
and I told the team. I said, Okay, this run

is gonna score, all right, I said, she's gonna score.
Let's not make a bad any worse because we're gonna
get a run in the seventh inning, and we're gonna
win this game. We're gonna run and we're gonna win.
They're gonna play for one run. I know it, and
we're gonna win. Don't go crazy. And when they get
runner second and third, when they bunt, get the out
at first, right to take that because I'm the billy bean.
When they want to butt, what you know, hey, if

We won the championship. But this I get if you're
the Angels, because if you're like, this is the run
you need to win again. I'm not a big fan
of bunting, but runner at second, you bunt and it's
a perfect butt that just literally dies on the first

You get a grounder over the third baseman's head and
that's the game. Like, Okay, I understand that.

I get total of fourteen pitchers between these teams. Tonight,
Maderos goes four for the Angels.

Then you get to your usual run of relievers for
the Dodgers. But this one hurts. Yeah, you battle battled
through and look like you're gonna be able to escape

you know, sell at the trade deadline. They didn't make
anything any kind of crazy moves, kind of going status quo.
Don't have the cash to spend fifty eight and sixty
two with a just above five hundred record at home,
but still trying to play out the string important series.

And they showed it. You know, they played through and
executing as well. Even if you don't like the bunt,
I'll give the nod of the cap to the fact
that you had a guy that was able to put
one down. I guarant damn t it's the It would
strike more fear into a lot of these hitters.

happened doesn't. Matter The padres don't allow a run past

you had four relievers come in and shut the. Door,
right you have three guys you Brought you brought In
morgan And adam was one of the best setup guys
in all of. Baseball you bring in three guys with
sub two eras The padres at the deadline going and
improving their, bullpen which was already a. Strength, okay MAYBE
i wouldn't have done that because you already have great,

relievers but, okay you're playing For, october AND i think
about facing The dodgers and facing The padres In, october
and who's the team once you get to the fifth
and sixth inning that you really don't want to face
The padres because they can come at you with all
of these studs out of the, bullpen especially when you
get to The October and if a starter goes five,

innings that's a, bonus, Right like there's no Longer, hey
we expect our number one guy to go eight innings
In game one and win two to one and set
up things for the rest of the. Series, no now
you have bullpen games all the. Time you have when
a starter goes four, innings and that's how they labor
because it's so late in the. Season they've thrown so
many innings and my, goodness look at. This Clayton kershaw
went three and a third innings and he threw ninety seven.

Pitches now we're in the bullpen for the last five
and a half innings or. So The padres have taken
care of. That this is a lights out. Bullpen and
you get into the playoffs and you're suddenly you're like
gets late early in the. Playoffs you get to that
fifth inning and you're, going, man we didn't get to
The padres starter. There we're losing three.

Now all of a, sudden when you get to the sixth,
inning you are in late inning pressure situations because The
padres they just come at you in waves with really good. Relievers,
man and then again at the deadline to go out and, say,

we can because we want to shut down because we
know what we need to do to win In. October
this is what scares me about The padres compared to

the because they figured out the end of games In.
October we'll have enough, offense our starting, Pitching, no, no, no we're,
right we're, good we got everything we. Need we're going
to go out and make our biggest strength a bigger
strength because we know In october we're going to rely
on it way more than we have, now and that's
going to be a huge advantage for.

defensive issues and taking advantage of some of the lesser

where we thought that you'd have more runaway and hide

kind of victories like they had the first few weeks
of the season with The. Dodgers the offense was humming
and everything was, fine and then you have a litany
of injuries and now you've got several positions in the
lineup where you're trying to figure out how to jump start. Things.

Right Mookie betts has been hitting better of, late.

But you're still trying to figure out where the hell
he goes in the, field right and kind of pushing.
Around you, know we've chronicled some of the power outages
for anybody not Named Otanian, muncie, right they haven't had
that level of. Consistency so you're not only concerned about
bullpen issues potentially plaguing you when you match up Against San,

diego it's the fact that your offense is not giving
you the juice that you anticipated. Either AND i know
they scored six runs, today that's all finding.

Headlines but generally The bills they don't cut through a.

It's pretty much been, in the words of Mike Harmon,
pillar to post for the Dodgers so far. But after
this seven to six defeat and extra innings, Dodgers and

Padres now tied for first place. With the Big Dodger
Padre Series looming this weekend, the Dodgers looked like they
were gonna escape show. Hey Otani, it's a home run
in the ninth inning, his fourth straight game with a
home run. Gives a Dodgers a one run lead. However,

comes in and nearly walks in the winning run in
the ninth inning. Doesn't matter. The Padres find a way
to win it in the tenth. They get a bunt
that stays fair because it stops on the chalk, and
you get a ground ball over the third basement I

a chopper over the third baseman's head into the outfield,
brings in the game winning run, and now the Dodgers
and Padres tied at the top of the NL West.
After the Angels walk it off against the Dodgers just

What a weird game. This was you had Choyo Tani

You want one run? Now, you got to make sure

that one run you play for is going to win
you the game. You can play for one run if
it can win you the game, which is why the
bunt tonight to put runners at first and third. Okay,
I get it, because you needed that one run to
win the game. I'm not a big fan of it,
but at least I understand that.

can't you could have walked anybody, but you walk her.

Only things she gave up right, and she pitched last
four ins. Only runner she put on base. She thinks
I knew if if you are listening, Katherine, you are
an absolute stuff. Katherine was great. Catherine, Oh my god.
When when when God said here's a softball pitcher, it
was Catherine. So so I went out and I told
and I told the team. I said, Okay, this run

is gonna score, all right, I said, she's gonna score.
Let's not make a bad any worse because we're gonna
get a run in the seventh inning, and we're gonna
win this game. We're gonna run and we're gonna win.
They're gonna play for one run. I know it, and
we're gonna win. Don't go crazy. And when they get
runner second and third, when they bunt, get the out
at first, right to take that because I'm the billy bean.
When they want to butt, what you know, hey, if

they're giving us it out, just don't be a hero.
Pick it up and throw it the first Gotta be careful,
you don't hassle back.

We won the championship. But this I get if you're
the Angels, because if you're like, this is the run
you need to win again. I'm not a big fan
of bunting, but runner at second, you bunt and it's
a perfect butt that just literally dies on the first

You get a grounder over the third baseman's head and
that's the game. Like, Okay, I understand that.

I get total of fourteen pitchers between these teams. Tonight,
Maderos goes four for the Angels.

Then you get to your usual run of relievers for
the Dodgers. But this one hurts. Yeah, you battle battled
through and look like you're gonna be able to escape

yet this year, and you know they're playing it like

it's the World Series now still in the mix. They didn't,
you know, sell at the trade deadline. They didn't make
anything any kind of crazy moves, kind of going status quo.
Don't have the cash to spend fifty eight and sixty
two with a just above five hundred record at home,
but still trying to play out the string important series.

And they showed it. You know, they played through and
executing as well. Even if you don't like the bunt,
I'll give the nod of the cap to the fact
that you had a guy that was able to put
one down. I guarant damn t it's the It would
strike more fear into a lot of these hitters.

Leaky The dodgers' bullpen has proven we're a little. Leaky,

now look at The. Padres, right just tonight's. Game, right
they wind, up they beat The giants five to. One
The giants get runners on base and in the, seventh,
eighth and ninth innings a couple of, times and what
happened doesn't. Matter The padres don't allow a run past
the first. Inning, right The giants really. Suck, jason you
had four. Relievers, well except when they play The, mets

you had four relievers come in and shut the. Door,
right you have three guys you Brought you brought In
morgan And adam was one of the best setup guys
in all of. Baseball you bring in three guys with
sub two eras The padres at the deadline going and
improving their, bullpen which was already a. Strength, okay MAYBE
i wouldn't have done that because you already have great,

relievers but, okay you're playing For, october AND i think
about facing The dodgers and facing The padres In, october
and who's the team once you get to the fifth
and sixth inning that you really don't want to face
The padres because they can come at you with all
of these studs out of the, bullpen especially when you
get to The October and if a starter goes five,

innings that's a, bonus, Right like there's no Longer, hey
we expect our number one guy to go eight innings
In game one and win two to one and set
up things for the rest of the. Series, no now
you have bullpen games all the. Time you have when
a starter goes four, innings and that's how they labor
because it's so late in the. Season they've thrown so
many innings and my, goodness look at. This Clayton kershaw
went three and a third innings and he threw ninety seven.

Pitches now we're in the bullpen for the last five
and a half innings or. So The padres have taken
care of. That this is a lights out. Bullpen and
you get into the playoffs and you're suddenly you're like
gets late early in the. Playoffs you get to that
fifth inning and you're, going, man we didn't get to
The padres starter. There we're losing three.

Now all of a, sudden when you get to the sixth,
inning you are in late inning pressure situations because The
padres they just come at you in waves with really good. Relievers,
man and then again at the deadline to go out and, say,

know what we need to do to win In. October
this is what scares me about The padres compared to

the because they figured out the end of games In.
October we'll have enough, offense our starting, Pitching, no, no, no we're,
right we're, good we got everything we. Need we're going
to go out and make our biggest strength a bigger
strength because we know In october we're going to rely
on it way more than we have, now and that's
going to be a huge advantage for.

defensive issues and taking advantage of some of the lesser

where we thought that you'd have more runaway and hide

kind of victories like they had the first few weeks
of the season with The. Dodgers the offense was humming
and everything was, fine and then you have a litany
of injuries and now you've got several positions in the
lineup where you're trying to figure out how to jump start. Things.

Right Mookie betts has been hitting better of, late.

But you're still trying to figure out where the hell
he goes in the, field right and kind of pushing.
Around you, know we've chronicled some of the power outages
for anybody not Named Otanian, muncie, right they haven't had
that level of. Consistency so you're not only concerned about
bullpen issues potentially plaguing you when you match up Against San,

diego it's the fact that your offense is not giving
